Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE Comments & Reviews 2026

Heartwarming addition to the series, albeit with glaring issue. I’m going to start this review by saying that I’ve been a fan of the Katamari series for years and years. It’s my favorite series, and this game is more than a welcome addition to it. I really enjoy the gameplay, especially the new levels that have completely new level concepts (such as the cleaning level). The “modernization” with the premise of the game is a bit strange even for Katamari, but it is funny. The cousins that are new to the series in this game are adorable, especially Patch. However, this is where I begin to notice a problem that quality assurance should have addressed—it’s impossible to keep the new cousins in your collection after exiting the game! There’s no manual save, so we have to rely on autosave. What happens is as follows: 1. Player rolls up a cousin unique to Katamari Damacy Rolling Live. 2. Player exits the game, at the menu screen then returns to find that the cousin is GONE! As in, can’t select the cousin to play as it, and in-game it appears as though the player never rolled up the cousin to begin with! You don’t even need to get all that far into the game to spot it, as it occurs with the very first cousin to collect from the tutorial, that is, Cameron. Exit and return, the game has record of you completing the tutorial, but no record of you catching Cameron, and you can’t play as Cameron. This also occurs with items in the candy shop, apart from the items in the “pick-up” section. Leave the game, and you lose the present you exchanged candies for. This is in serious need of a patch, because I don’t see why anyone would aim to obtain candies just to lose them, or try to collect the cousins just to lose them. Interestingly, the glitch does NOT occur with cousins from Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari. On that note, I don’t like how some cousins from Katamari Damacy retained their Katamari Damacy design while others have their We Love Katamari design (the original releases, not the Reroll versions). For instance, a defining feature of the cousin Ace was the spiky rear end, which has been revoked for some unknown reason. And for some reason Jungle has some odd design as opposed to being camouflage or transparent. Regardless, I love this game enough to want to see it improved. I am sad that I feel the need to only leave 4 stars.

Katamari Damacy but Rougher. I love Katamari Damacy as a series but this one controls horrendously. Half the time I feel like the game is assuming I’m hitting the 180 button and I constantly lose the control stick while trying to focus elsewhere. I tried to use the swipe controls to get around it, but it feels like moving on ice with four directional movement. Game itself has massive charm, but won’t get a fifth star from me until the controls smoothen out.

Another amazing Katamari game. I’ve been playing Katamari games since they came out for the PlayStation 2 over 20 years ago and immediately feel in love with the style, art, humor, gameplay, and (maybe most importantly) the music. The games are just endlessly fun and sometimes challenging in a fun way. I was a bit worried about a mobile version especially after such a long break from the last new game. They absolutely nailed it yet again! This version takes me right back to PlayStation 2 days but now it’s with me everywhere I go in my pocket. No micro transactions, no daily gimmicky rewards, just a solid and insanely fun game. Paired with a controller I am in heaven. ALL of this and the game is free. Absolutely insane.

Do truly love the game but…. There needs to be a way to reduce the graphics!! My phone feels like it’s about to set fire it gets so hot and the battery drain is intense. I have an iphone 12, not like an insanely old phone. The other problem are the controls. There’s a decent amount of settings to change things to your liking, but they just don’t feel smooth. The game is so good, I love my mean dad and cute lil cousins, but it definitely needs some work

Katamari is LIVE!. Finally! We can see the king, the prince, and his cousins again. All while rolling up katamaris for the people! The gameplay is largely the same as past entries, I prefer using the 'usual' control scheme, but there are a couple new ones that feel more casual or just kinda silly (ever wanted to control a katamri like a car? Now you can.) I'm not far yet, but the stages are fun, and the game looks and feels like a Katamari game should. Hopefully it'll break free of the apple arcade at some point cause it's a game that needs to be shared for all Katamari fans! :) It looks like there will be future updates too, so looking foward to see what's in store!

Great vibe, horrible controls. With witty banter and a charming new gimmick, this should have been an amazing game. Sadly, the controls feel a bit sluggish compared to console Katamari titles, and the camera has an *incredibly annoying* habit of turning the opposite of where you want to turn, especially using the “recommended” controls. Also, the “dash” and “reverse” buttons feel a bit too close to each other, resulting in sometimes game-ruining mishaps.

It’s Katamari, on your phone!. I was a bit worried when I saw this was a mobile exclusive but this is a fantastic entry to the series, just as fun as any console version. Several control scheme options, plenty of content with more being added, and all that classic Katamari flair. There were some bugs at launch but they’ve been fixed. My one niggle is that grinding for candy for optional unlocks like cousins, gifts, etc is a bit slow (but there are still cousins and gifts in the levels).

Na na na!. Hi Namco! Im your ultimate fan! Thank you guys for putting this game on apple arcade! So I love the glow sticks level and the tag level! Very fun. This game is still fun as a katamari veteran. So far in the game, no complaints. I also like the King's design in this game. Especially the head pattern. Also, one suggestion. Can you make a level in "Wish Upon a Katamari", that you collect valuable objects for a king or a dragon? That would be cool. Also I, as a fan, want Eternal mode for lots of levels. Thank you guys! This is Arcadia, signing out!

Don’t sleep on this one. As somebody who played the Katamari games back in the PS2 days, it’s a real joy to come back and play it again. For people who never played them, it might be even better. The way this game builds and escalates is always delightful—especially when it’s unexpected. Playing this game with an external controller is great on my iPad and my Apple TV. I love that my save info moves between devices. This is the perfect example of an Apple Arcade hit.

Long time player and I love it. I'm a huge fan of this game series and I'm happy to say, this is an amazing game. It's been so long since I've gotten to play a new Katamari game and I'm not disappointed. I recommend playing with a controller, to make the game more fun, but it's just as lovely as the previous titles. The only thing I'm hoping gets added is a free play mode!

Fun and clunky. A fun premise but there are just so many issues. The controls are awkward, adjusting the joystick positioning is buggy, (and why do I even need specific joystick locations on a touch screen in the first place?), your character gets stuck a lot, the camera angles and perspective are bad, dialogue appears SOOO slow (letter by letter, which can’t be sped up) and when in a level it actually affects your controls bc tapping changes to advancing the dialogue instead of controlling your character. Overall the devs didn’t bother with some basic modern quality of life upgrades to make it playable

Should have spent more time rolling.. I’m happy to see a new Katamari game, but it needed more time in development. It’s disappointing to see that they kept the awful alarm sound that plays continuously when you have 30 seconds left in a game, all it does is cause stress. It’s still possible to get temporarily stuck in small parts of the map, so the physics are identical to past games. The main “screen” where you choose missions doesn’t allow the Prince to roam, everything is done through menus instead, feels phoned in. There are still loading pauses when the map expands, which seems like a holdover from the older games; you’d think it would just smoothly transition to the next map change. Perhaps this was done for older devices to be able to load. There aren’t any options for adjusting text speed; the King is notoriously verbose, but at least he doesn’t talk as much in this one. Currently there’s a bug when viewing leaderboards that cause the game to hang. Finally, this game really causes phones to get hot. Considering that it looked very close to the same, graphically, as the PS2 version, it’s disappointing to see such a heavy demand on the hardware. The game needs serious optimization and bug fixes.

Great return of an old classic - please add freeplay/arcade mode. I’ve always loved the Katamari series. It is so nice to see this in the Arcade. Graphics are great. Quirkiness and bizarre dialogue are great. My only request is you add a free-play mode to unlocked maps. This way we can practice and explore without a time limit and enjoy some classic nonsensical gameplay without any limitations

Controls feel weird. Am I wrong in feeling like none of the controls on touchscreen feel intuitive? Has Katamari always been about fighting the controls to roll where you want to go? I was expecting a normal dual stick touch screen control system and it feels like none of the options really deliver a version of that that works. Game looks great and runs great but I finished the tutorial and and thought to myself "well that was far more frustrating than fun."

I LOVE KATAMARI. Having played the original, this does not disappoint, the Prince and his cousins are just what I needed to help me escape the woes of the day. Now if they could just hurry up and roll up this mess. 13 years ago I Love Katamari was released for the iPhone. Finally I had the opportunity to play the well loved game that I saw heavily praised on G4 tv. I beat the game and replayed it. Some years had passed and I was sad to see that it was removed from the App Store. Fast forward 13 years and I’m looking at the App Store one day and I see the announcement for this game. At first I thought it was just going to be on the iPhone, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was also available for MacBook. I’ve so far put in maybe about 10 hours, thanks to my 8bitdo SNES30+ Bluetooth controller. This game is just as fun as the others in the Katamari franchise, but it is certainly an introduction of an old favorite in a strange new world.

Excellent Game, Don’t Bother While Candy Shop Bugged. This is an EXCELLENT version of Katamari Damacy, an improvement over We Love Katamari. This would be a 5 star review if the candy shop was working as intended. Difficult to obtain in-game currency, candy, is used to buy cosmetics (items and cousins), but any cosmetics that are new to this game are not saved upon closing. It took a few days of play to get enough candy to buy 2 new cousins, and it felt very bad to have them disappear from my inventory. I will not be playing until this is updated, at which I will also update this review. UPDATE: Bug is fixed 4/17 and 100 candy was given as compensation. Hooray!

Small bugs. Okay so I do love this game and have already completed it but the one thing I’m having issues with is my content saving :/ I’ve collected a good amount of cousins but a few of them won’t save to the collection making it to where I can’t play the second to last level :(. I would be giving this like a 4.5 if I could I think it’s such a fun twist on a new katamari and it would be fun to see possible future updates for more levels 🥲

Amazing, looks weird but you must try. The first time I came into this series it seemed a little quirky, but it was a lot of fun. I played both katamari remasters on console and it was a huge joy to see this one release. It is a bit of a shame that the new game isn’t on console, but this game is still fun with a controller connected. In the end do yourself a favor and play this. It is really fun and it makes a good game out of your time.

I love the series, but the touch screen controls are horrible. I’ve played the original PS2 game, a PSP sequel, and a Switch remaster and loved all of them. I was stoked to play a new one, but it feels like a constant struggle with the touchscreen controls. Getting more than one star in some later levels (one to three stars is their level scoring system) feels virtually impossible, and I feel like playing with a proper controller could change my review of the game from 3 to 5 stars, but I don’t have a Backbone or whatever. I love the live-streaming angle for the ”story”. It’s quirky and fits well.

Fantastic game, when not playing with phone controls. Let me start off by saying I love this game. I couldn’t give it any less than five stars because the game itself is fantastic. If I’m being completely honest, I bought an Apple TV just to be able to play this on my TV with a controller. I’ve also used it with a PlayStation backbone for my phone. Since those use the classic controls with joysticks like we’re all used to, it was super easy to play. I am definitely not a fan of the controls when just using the touch screen, but I really think it’s the best that can be doe on the small scale. I love this game and I’m playing it to get ready for Once Upon a Katamari!!!!

I feel the cosmos! (through a live broadcast). I’ve seen katamari but I’ve never played it until now! This is a great intro to the series. I thought it would have tilt controls like a Wii remote but.. No lol I would recommend anyone who dislikes playing on a screen to play with a wireless controller, felt a lot better to play with on usual controls. Just like the consoles! My only big gripe is (at the time of writing) the cousin bug! Certain cousins vanish after collecting them, even the ones brought from the candy shop.. I had to get Cameron twice and now he’s gone again! Hope it gets fixed soon…

love this game, hate the controls.. this is the best game i’ve played from the app store in a while, it’s very bright and colorful. i can’t think of another game that keeps my attention this well. that being said, i have tried all the different control configurations and they’re all equally terrible. turning is way too difficult, building speed is impossible, and i’m always getting stuck in corners i can’t get out of. i think the devs should try modeling a control system similar to roblox or minecraft PE. other than that i really love it!!! (would give it a 3.5 if i could)

Great katamari game,But an easy mode would be good.. I just wish there was an easy mode, where you just have to beat the current level to move onto the next, no need to farm for points. The original game was pretty easy, this is much more difficult which isn’t bad… I just wish there was an easy mode. Overall this game is still probably one of the best here on Apple Arcade.

It's Katamari.. Kind of.. Edit: review still applies, but it's gotten funner and somehow easier. It just needed time. (Played on a Generation 7 iPad on iOS 18.3.2) Many issues with the game. It's fun when it works, yes, but that's not often. Bandai Namco, if you read this, here are some things to fix. With Joy-Con controllers, inputs are wrong and confusing. With an Xbox one controller, there is plenty of input delay. With the touch controls, it feels wrong and is kinda weird. This makes playing it an inconvenience. After finishing a level, when you go to the map thing, sometimes the map doesn't let you select a level. Overall, it's an okay game. Don't get Arcade if you're only gonna play this.

Nostalgic, but overall not impressed. While this game is very nostalgic and has amazing potential, the kinks outweigh the fun. The controls are very clunky and I spend more time trying to understand that “left” and “right” are up and down instead. There is more time struggling to use the on screen joystick than actually enjoying the game. The onscreen comments during game are pretty annoying when they block the entire screen. You have to click through ton of commentary after each level instead of being able to skip, and the text is awfully slow. Story line is great, but overall clunky.

Very fun, slight graphical bug. Super happy to have a Katamari Damacy game on Apple Arcade and I'm having a great time. However, in some of the levels after the earliest few, my katamari is not properly rendered after the level (where the King is appraising it) and instead it just shows a giant white rectangle. This might be due to being on a slightly older device (iPhone 11), but I wanted to note it nonetheless in case it could possibly be fixed.

New to Katamari - I LOVE it!. When I saw the game, I thought it looked interesting but also like it was for little kids. I somehow had never heard of Katamari before. Something about it called to me and after a couple of days of debating, I downloaded it. I have zero regrets! The story line is fun, the graphics engaging, the gameplay…chef’s kiss. I don’t care about followers irl but now I NEED to add to my follower count, for the King. I didn’t expect such challenging objectives but I am obsessed with achieving them. My Achilles Heel is completing collections in a game. I can’t resist. I must complete all of them and especially finding all our cousins! My goodness, our cousins are the cutest!! I live to see the new names of planets and satellites. There is so much more that I haven’t even touched on. The options for control settings are there for just about any kind of configuration you could want. I started playing on my phone but moved to playing on my iPad Pro and the game looks amazing. If you aren’t sure about if this is the game for you, please try it. Especially if you have no idea what Katamari are. This game is an absolute delight!!!

Needs vsync and my Cousins keep getting deleted!. Like with the other reviews, I’m enjoying playing the game for sure, but yea if I play on a TV, there’s lots of tearing visible. Also not sure what’s going on but even though I save properly, cousins I’ve bought with candies get deleted and I have to purchase them again and certain ones, particularly Catherine, I have to fetch again from the level.

Very fun entry in the Katamari series, some performance issues. Hope to see the game patched soon to help with a few things: on my Apple TV 4K the game seems to run at 30fps (maybe sometimes lower) at a sub-1080p resolution. On my new MacBook Air M4, the game runs at high resolution and high FPS but exhibits constant page/screen tearing artifacts without a way to enable vsync. Aside from the technical issues, it’s a blast so far and feels like classic Katamari with some new twists!

Great graphics & music, frustrating controls & visual obstructions. This is the same great katamari we all know and love. Only problem is that the king keeps blocking most of my view, often in the last moments of the run when I am frantically trying to complete the mission. I don't see any way to dismiss him like I can at the beginning and it leaves me really frustrated. The game is already about chaos... not being able to see due to this annoying character in the middle of my screen is just maddening. Even more frustrating is the fact that I constantly get stuck between objects, regularly struggle to find anything I can actually roll up, and overall don't ever feel a good amount of control over where I am rolling. I am using the simple control scheme on a phone without a controller. I think it's ridiculous that we would need or even want an external controller to play a game on a phone. Games made for phones should be casual and easy for the average person, not hardcore gamers,.. that's what consoles are for. I am considering deleting the game because of this even though it is otherwise a great game. I mean, it's already a chaotic game which is difficult on a small screen ... poor controls and having the screen blocked by the king just makes it really frustrating and annoying. Dial down the difficulty and prevent the king from being in the middle of the screen if you want casual players to stick around.

It’s a Katamari game, of course it’s amazing.. The controls are horrendous but otherwise, this game is a lot of fun and very enjoyable. The concept of it being based around streaming is really unique. So much nostalgia built on for the beloved franchise! I just wish I could play this for more than 15-20 minutes because my thumbs cramp from fighting with how poor the controls are. It’s very hard to achieve three star levels when my prince is going awol when I’m simply telling him to go straight. :)

Okay but missing things. Fun to play but definitely needs work still. No one wants to roll around the same three bathhouse levels for a single candy. No one wants to grind these levels for a singular candy in an attempt to get any of the absurdly priced presents. Why not give candy as a reward for completing a collection? Why is the mask not available? What about the hat? Why not show us how the commenters work or what videos they're connected to considering they're the only way to get any somewhat substantial amount of candy? Why have the shop so filled up at all when there are plenty of levels that give players nothing but stars? Why not have some of these items be found? Or why not offer different items within the levels that currently have nothing? Also, give Kuro his extra antenna back, as that was a horrid mistake of a design change. So many of the cousins look the same and yall had to take away the one thing that made him unique. Good game but could be great with some more care and thought put into it.

Getting better, but lacking a thing that made the characters iconic.. For a mobile game, the graphics are really good. As someone who played KATAMARI AMORE back when that was a thing, having a true Katamari game that can fit in your pocket is something I’ve wanted again for a long time. With that being said, I feel like a lot is sacrificed. For instance, I would really like a little POV of the character you play as, as that was present in the other games. Maybe it could be below the size of the Katamari, so it could be visible? Otherwise, the game is great! Apparently more is to come in this game, which is exciting. Keep it up Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE team :)

Great katamari game!. This game is great Its definitely not as good as the original katamari damacy or we love katamari damacy on console though I much prefer playing with a controller and i would probably like the touch controlls more if there was an option to not have more buttons (kinda like the controller controls) where everything is done with the joysticks To others reading this to play with a controller on your phone grab your nearest ps5 controller and a usb c cord and plug it in between your phone and the controller that way you can use it without disconnecting it from your console (or use bluetooth) There other thing i dont really like in this game (but its ok) is the level selection screen The other katamari damacy games had really quirky level selection screens and this game is more boooring in that regard i mean its nice to quickly choose a level but i miss the personality that the other katamari damacy games i played had but like its fine

AMAZING (yet needs a patch). I’ve been waiting a near decade and a half for a katamari game that’s actually NEW, and lo and behold, this is it. I hope that someday this expands away from Apple Arcade so it’s more accessible and gets better controls, because right now this is the only reason I even have Apple Arcade. As for the patch request, if a cousin is not from Katamari Damacy or We Love Katamari, then restarting the app makes them vanish. This INCLUDES CANDY SHOP COUSINS, and you will be swindled out of candy with NO REFUND. That needs a fix asap, which is it’s only issue.

Amazing! Wonderful! Ow, my thumbs!. 4.75 stars This is the old-school Katamari dopamine dump that I didn’t know I was craving. Love this new edition, enough is different to keep it fresh, but the look and feel are exactly the same. Highly recommend to anyone, (with a disclaimer about how life-suckingly addictive the game is). However, I can’t play this to its potential while using my phone screen as a controller. It’s playable, and getting one- or two- star level passes are possible, but the screen seems to become less and less responsive while the gameplay goes on. I had to use a separate analog controller to continue onto to higher levels and find Easter eggs.

Battery Drain/Overheating. Love the graphics and stages. Reminds me of the old Katamari games but the controls really need to be changed. You can’t play long because it physically hurts. My biggest issue is the battery overheating and draining that this game causes. 30% in around 30 minutes and the battery is so hot that it doesn’t want to charge right away. I hope they fix these problems because Katamari is one of my all time favorites.

A great return. I have been a lifelong fan of the Katamari series, and after the extremely long time without a new original installment, I thought Katamari (other than the occasional remaster and insubstantial mobile installment) was pretty much over. But suddenly, this came out, and it blew my mind. It’s a fully featured Katamari game, that has received multiple updates with new content since its release, which is amazing. Can’t recommend it enough and I really hope there is more high quality content like this to come from the Katamari series.

Katamari Live Rules, Another Win For Apple Arcade.. I’m a big fan of Katamari Damacy, the first two titles are legendary games in the pantheon of the mid budget PS2 masterpiece. Like many games made for Apple Arcade this title is better than it has any right to be. Its console quality in most aspects. Great new level designs, fun costumes, and the delightful personality you’d expect from Katamari. The Livestream angle is shockingly funny. It works surprisingly well with the Katamari premise and is a fun satire. I’m playing this on IPhone 12, and the game runs pretty well with only occasional lag. The big problem like most 3D IOS games is the controls. I won’t mince words and say that the touch controls are cramped and painful. The “simple” mode helps, but I still don’t think I could play like this for longer than 20 minutes… that being said, if you use a controller the gameplay is fully intact and a lot of fun! Katamari Live is great fun, and is a worthy entry in the series. It feels on par with a fully featured modern release despite being made for mobile. You can feel the love in every little detail, and I recommend it to anyone with Apple Arcade.

One of the greatest revivals. Katamari Damacy was the first game I’ve ever played and I loved it. The sequels were also fun, but I loved We Love Katamari the most. It’s sad there were no new games for almost 15 years, but this revival is a great way to bring it back. The only downside is that it has a bit too many As Fast As Possible missions or my tastes but I’m able to ignore that with the incredible maps in this game. (My personal favorite is the bathroom map) Even though this game wasn’t perfect, it’s nice to see Katamari back. Can’t wait for Once Upon a Katamari.

Buggy game means it's not as fun as it could be. The gameplay is much the same as it was on the PS/2, with some additions that are significantly less fun. It's rather buggy on my system, with the katamari showing up as a spinning black rectangle when the King looks at it after a round. There's even one level that simply does not let you win the level at all, even when you meet the win condition (the eating contest).

Thank you devs for an enjoyable game. :D. It seems the last few updates have been kinda winding down, and with all the Cousins now in the game I think today's new level might be the last (if there are more levels on the way I would be happy to be wrong though :D ). The content might all be released at this point, but I will say, I have thoroughly enjoyed this game, a full-size katamari game of excellent quality that I can enjoy right on a mobile device. Thank you so much for an enjoyable game!

Oh, we are so back with the old game The old version. This game is very fun entertaining. I like the king where he gives you different quest and other stuff is really enjoying. You guys should play. It not only that I love where you could roll the ball and get more objects by rolling them into each other something like that this is probably the best game I’ve played in very very long time. It’s really enjoying and. if you fail on one level. The king will do a very purpleish dark scene. I like the animation. of the king and all the other different outfits, you can customize on your avatar. Not only that, but there’s millions of different outfits, you can customize on your avatar. This is my review. Hope you read it.(developer

Difficult fun, not child friendly. If you can look past the difficult controls, wasting time getting stuck because of the difficult controls, an annoying character, wasting time because of an annoying character, and the occasionally disorienting camera perspectives when in cramped spaces, then this the game is incredibly fun! I love how goofy some of the scenes are! That said, it’s lack of a casual approach and high control difficulty is why I say it’s not child friendly. The King of All Cosmos character is obnoxious. Seriously, the character talks WAY too much and is aggressively intrusive in what would otherwise be really fun, fluid gameplay. So much so, unless there’s an option to turn off his rambling before, during, and/or after missions, and the controls/camera are tightened, I cannot recommend the game and will stop playing it. I will check in on its updates. Note: There isn’t much of an explanation on what any of the acquired items do, there isn’t a decent general guide in the app or online, there are no tutorials aside from briefly teaching you the rolling mechanics. Also, this is one of the few apps that runs the phone hot.

Review Update: It’s great… If you can get the controls to work. I played the first stage about a dozen times to practice the controls, change them up, adjust, etc. nothing is comfortable. Controller compatibility was added! And it was… okay? I mean it’s far better than just the touch controls. Some of the challenges feel too challenging, but i guess that’s what practice is for.

Good stuff. The game has tons of content, finally feels like a mainline Katamari has come out after all these years. I have unfortunately lost certain items earned from the shop, and did not get that candy back, and I feel like some of the cousins I’ve unlocked disappear too. So I’ll hold off on spending the currency until they patch that.

Wow.. This game is truly impressive. The graphics are identical to those of the rerolls on the Switch and PS! The concept of this game is funny and more in touch than other Katamari games, and the control style somehow seems to… translate from the switch to the phone! The controls themselves are perfect for me, and I enjoy playing this game to and from school. I am beyond happy that there is a Katamari game that is on my little electronic orange rectangle and that it doesn’t require any WiFi!!!

Too much talking!. I love this game! I never played the originals but this game is super fun and entertaining. The only qualms I have are: the chit chatting and words takes up WAY too much time I just wanna click on the level and start playing without all the chatting. The other qualm is the movement of the camera. I’ve tried every option for co trips and I’m on Simple but half the time that camera is turning itself, and half the time I have to move the camera it’s so weird and annoying. I wish there was a way to zoom out the camera so I wouldn’t have to rotate the camera so often. I would legit pay real money to upgrade to a passive camera totally. Other than that it’s fun! Sometimes new levels appear randomly without hitting a certain number of subscribers and it’s cool :) I do wish there were “boosts” I could purchase, like where I could freeze the clock for 30 sec or start with a bigger ball, etc. Can’t wait to see where this one goes!!

As Wacky as Ever. Katamari Damacy is one of my favorite games, and I am delighted that there’s a new version for Apple Arcade. It is an excellent game - I’m lucky enough to have an Apple TV and I can connect my Switch Pro controller to it, which makes it so much easier to play. The only complaint is that I can be a bit laggy, and some of the levels are impossibly difficult (to the point of frustration), but it’s absolutely worth playing. The Katamari charm is very much still there - The King’s quirky dialog is some of the best in the series, and our long-suffering Prince gets to roll up some very interesting things in fun environments. I can’t wait to unlock more levels and see what’s next!

Great but issue. I really like this game but I can’t beat the you won’t believe this Katamari 2 level, that’s not the issue, it’s that sometimes when I open it there’s no sound but closing it out fixes it so still five stars edit: now I’m a top 1% player, great game!

Poor controls let this down. The game is solid and the replay ability for most levels is a winning factor. Sadly the world has moved on from the control mechanics of pre-2013, and this game should have been updated with it. What a missed opportunity. Onscreen controls have access to all the options, but not at the same time due to button spread. Controller use should shine here, but it’s worse in most levels because you can’t customise the controls and all of the one-stick, two-stick and skid-steer options are missing features found in the other options. Y invert is busted and camera is attached to the wrong stick. I hate to see an old game re-released without modern mechanics. Buy or copy the control options from any other system released in the last 5-8 years

Allow this game on Vision Pro, please!. I love the Katamari game since Playstation 2 and purchased the apps many times. Of course fast forward and all the games pulled from App Store leaving this one on Arcade! I play this anyways since I have Apple One, I hope this game stays here indefinitely, treasure game and one of kind.

they see me rolling. quirky, satirical and very stylish game! controls take time to get used to, use gamepad for best experience

Controls unreliable.. Controls don’t work reliably.

Best thing on apple arcade. The best.

Kinda hard. The first level was easy, but the other levels are too hard so can you make them easy?

could be better. The challenges are too hard. That’s why I have 1 star in every level I’ve done so far. Please make it easier plz plz

peak katamari. one of the best katamari releases since katamari forever, it’s definitely best to experience it thru apple TV or just with a controller on mac or phone, but even playing with touch controls is very fun. This is the best app to release on the app store ever in history since youtube music

Controls too hard. Game is cute but the controls are too difficult to manage

Totally deranged 5/5. In one of the levels you play as a tiny alien pushing a man into food to make him eat while also live streaming to 50,000 people, you can also make him eat people, when you finish the level a giant alien throws him into the sky where he turns into a planet. A true 5/5 game

Definitely a Katamari game!. If you’re a fan of Katamari Damacy, or you just like the idea of rolling up objects to a killer soundtrack, then I can almost guarantee you’ll enjoy this! Looks, sounds and feels like previous games in the series. It doesn’t necessarily bring anything new to the table, but it’s mobile Katamari Damacy, so I’m happy. There is one new addition that I have noticed and love is that you actually get a rating out of 3 stars for your performance on a stage. In previous games, you can never quite tell just how well you did (because the King is usually quite dismissive), so I really appreciate that as someone who likes to 100% complete these games. Not the biggest fan of the touch controls, but I could say that about most mobile games and controller support makes up for that anyway, and the game does really well with what it’s got. Either way, I’m really enjoying this and highly recommend it!

I wanted to like this game more. I really like the game and concept but unfortunately touch controls are not great and made my phone quite hot

Breaking bug in the eating contest level.. Even when you reach the 300kg required for the first star and even if the king tell you’ve reached the minimum size the game still make you fail.

OH meh GAH. The king makes me all 😞 so I have to beat a level the first time or I have to take a one day break from it and because of that I forget the layout of the level and lose again and ⬆️

Classic. An instant classic for sure. An easy and fun way to pass time.

Love Katamari. Plays great and feels like a whole Katamari game

Just crashes on load on iPad. While the game works fine on iPhone, but on my iPad, it just crashes at startup. I’ve tried hard resetting the iPad but still crashes on load.

Instant classic. Every bit as good as the original - levels, objects, incredible soundtrack - all new with nods to the original in a way that’s fresh yet familiar

Fun, relaxing, quirky. I had it on PS2, then Switch. I’m so glad they got the mobile version on Arcade. It’s the most fun, relaxing and funny game I’ve played lately. Just keep rolling! The sound effect is classic!!!! Some people might think control is bad, but you just need to get used to it (and it’s like that on PS2 and Switch too). The mobile version has 4 different ways to control, choose one that suits you the most.

Cute but controls are awful. The game is cute, but controls are awful.

The reviewer is roleplaying as the King of All Cosmos. Please understand.. You would expect one who is helping Us with rolling Katamari without the ability to use a Game Controller? We remember when We started, we were on a game console. Controllers standard. Yet on this Macintosh computer, far far superior to what we began on? Players must use the keyboard. We are disappointed. It is probably The Prince’s fault. He should do better.

Missing cousins. My cousins I unlock in the levels keep disappearing and I have to unlock them over and over again. I can’t start the mission that requires all cousins.

Overheating phone. Love the game, makes my 15 pro HOT - to the point it burns my fingers.

End. Life is over Because of these aliens rolling up stuff!?!? Crazy

I love it. Such a fun game and I love that it’s on mobile! Having such a good time with this one, it’s challenging though!

I like this game. I don’t really play this game that much but I do recommend it because I think it’s pretty cool, so how about you just give it a try,and maybe you like it!

Amazing game, just a few bugs!. This game is great, I play it with my PS4 controller and it plays very smoothly just like the Katamari REROLL games! It’s super fun, but there are just two very minor bugs that I noticed; one of them being purchasing a cousin, if you purchase a cousin you can’t keep the cousin and you have to re-purchase them again if you change them. The other small bug is that some objects and people don’t load until later so they just randomly appear out of thin air sometimes. Other than those two little bugs it’s an amazing game and feels like a real Katamari game than just a mobile game ❤️

ROLL THE KATAMARI!. It an really good game

I LOVE KATAMARI DAMACY. I am eternally grateful for more Katamari. Thank you so much, Bandai Namco!

it's Katamari. if you've played We 💜 Katamari before then this is probably just a 4-star game, there's not much new besides three levels and music, even the dialog is repeated quite often. however, if you've never played a Katamari before, you're in for a delight, it's simply one of the greatest games of all time, play it! with a controller!

Great game, awful controls. The controls make this game a pain to play, the camera is always in the worst possible position and moving it around is clunky and unintuitive

Timeless and fresh. Never gets old, and every zone is a feast for the eyes!!

Fantastic. This game really helped reinvigorate my undying love for Katamari Damacy. I didn’t expect too much from an iOS Katamari, but it really has all the heart and soul of the original series back on the PS2. The on screen joysticks work decently well, though a controller would be smoother.

Thank You!. Literally one of my favorite series ever. Thank you for bringing it to iOS.

True to the spirit of the original, brutal for motion sickness. Graphics are cute and game plays great on a Dualsense controller but I get horribly motion sick after a level or two. If you’re prone to motion sickness, tread with caution!

Sound issues on iPad w/18.5 beta. I know I’m running a beta, but wondered if anyone else has no sound when playing on iPad with 18.5 beta?

Love it!. This is one of my favorite series. A must play for anyone who has played previous entries. Do yourself a favor and play it with a controller. This game is so fun!

Great Establishment to the Series!. This game is a really fun update to the classic video game series! The graphics look really good, and the timed gameplay gives you a goal to work to! If you’re looking for a simple game to play, this could be it!

Battery usage. Better plug your phone in while playing this one. 5 minutes of gameplay depletes battery by about 15% and turns the phone into a toaster. Otherwise good game - total classic. Still wish there was an unlimited mode.

Touch Controls leave much to be desired. Touch controls have successfully ruined my experience with Katamari. They handle like a drunken bus with a garbage turn radius and randomly not registering input within the touch circles. Ruins what could be a perfectly fun experience.

Great, but needs vsync. I played the first level and liked how it plays exactly like older Katamari games, but an option for vsync to prevent screen tearing on macOS would be greatly appreciated!

Katamari is back!. It’s so fun so far!!! also it’s way easier to play with a controller instead of 2 joysticks

Good but could improve. The controls in Katamari Damacy are less then ideal. The turning joystick is slow and unresponsive, and it overall makes the game less fun to play. Please address the controls and the cut ring control speed. Thank you.

Good but…. This is a great game but one level is too annoying the character is too annoying and it’s saying stuff like lol trendyyyyyy style and omg! It’s the most annoying character in the game pls take her out

Great game, bad controls. I’ve been playing Katanari Damacy for as long as I can remember. This game fits the bill great. What doesn’t though is the touch screen controls. I feel like im constantly fighting with them to go where I want. And fairly often they will just stop recognizing my inputs and do whatever they want.

Yeah pretty good. As having not played any of the other games in the series (if there even are any) this game is looking pretty good! The music is really good! Like VERY good. The music reminded me of paper Mario origami king! If you like this music go play that game Oh also the controls are a bit jank, but keep playing and you’ll get used to it (I did) Oh wait now theres a random person singing in the back this ain’t paper Mario! Ok the tutorial music sounded like it tho

Perfect on Dualsense. It's a Katamari Damacy game. What else is there to say? My only complaints are that you can sometiles clip through moving platforms, and the tutorial HUD is a little buggy.

Controls are awful. I was hoping it would be more fun to just roll the ball around and pick up stuff, but the controls just get in the way massively. There are 4 control layouts and somehow none of them just let you swipe left to turn left. Instead you get up = left and down = right for all 4 layouts. Insanely unintuitive.

Um……... Not gonna lie it’s creepy when the streamer opens his eyes it’s hard to control and the songs creep me out srry but other than that it’s pretty cool like AMAZING! Also the animation looks great but is glitchy. Amazing job tho! There is no other games on Apple Arcade besides this one that are creative enough to make a game bout live streaming! Love,????

terrible controls. i loved playing Katamari as a kid so i was excited when i saw it coming to Apple Arcade. however, the movement and camera controls on this mobile game are absolutely horrendous. it feels clunky and awful to play. there are 4 different control modes but they are all similar to one another and they also all feel bad. i highly recommend using a console controller if you can. that might make this game playable

….. Why do I need to tell you NOT to put the joysticks UNDER the instructions on the first screen? I wonder how many have quit right there because they don’t see the joysticks and logically don’t want to touch the instructions.

Katamari is so back. This feels just like a console Katamari game! It’s as wacky, colorful, and hilarious as ever. There’s presents, cousins, and secrets to find in each level. And the soundtrack is incredible! I’ve been playing mostly with a controller, but the touch screen controls are surprisingly great, as well. Good stuff all around!

Takes me back. I remember playing the first Katamari on PS2, and was hooked immediately. This does a great job of capturing the greatness of the series. Controls can be a bit wonky with the on screen joysticks though.

Having fun!. Am I struggling with the controls? Yes. Am I having a blast doing it? Also yes. Harder than I thought it would be but very enjoyable!

May cause motion sickness. So, love this game and have been looking for a version of it for the platforms I have for years. Downside, it gave me motion sickness playing it on my phone.

Good but there,s a bad bug.. The game is very good but is there a bad bug where the new and candy shop cousins after closing the game are gone and you have to get them again which is not fun. Also add the prince hop and the half cousins to the candy shop.

Katamari!. Hey Bandai Namco, I just wanted to say thank you. This is the first Katamari Damacy game I’ve ever played, and I love it. It is really therapeutic and fun to play after a long, stressful school day, and the graphics are great! This game is worthy of Apple Arcade status!!

Great game, but buggy. I love a good Katamari game, and this one does not disappoint… on my iPad. Unfortunately, the game does not seem to recognize any controllers on my 1st gen AppleTV 4K. I’ve tried it with PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch controllers connected to the AppleTV: they all control the AppleTV itself just fine, but the game is unresponsive. Developers, please fix this!

Brings me joy and hope!. This game looks absolutely great! The way it plays and looks is similar to the remasters of the first and second. I really appreciate the full length console feel of this app. Definitely won’t disappoint if you are a Katamari fan!

Maybe possible controller support?. I played Katamari back in PlayStation 2 era and I was obsessed with the game! I’m not used to the controls on mobile but maybe a suggestion to have a controller support functionality? I would personally love it and game a lot with it

Original. I have played every Katamari Damacy game. Thank you so much for continuing the legend of our little prince. Please make sure to update or create more!!!! Love this game!

First to play BABYYYY. So first of all, I downloaded this game the second it came out. Cuz why not you know? And it’s pretty dang fun. Props to the devs, gameplays pretty good, and it looks good too. Designs are wacky, but in a good way. Honestly, fantastic game, love it, keep up the good work. AND I WAS FIRST TO PLAY AND WRITE A REVIEW SO YEAHHHHH

Katamari. Love that this is finally available on mobile. Relaxing and fun! Must play if you’ve never tried this game!

Brings me back!. The Katamari games were good. This one, from the hours I've played, is no exception - and may just be one of the greater ones I’ve experienced!

Nostalgia. Ahh, this takes me back to my high school days. Just rolling around with no bills to pay and my bestie playing video games during our sleepovers. It really is the same game play, kinda hard on the iPad i will say. But i love it. So glad they brought it back.

Its great! and also,. could you add modes to levels when you complete them specifically, that would be a fun challenge!

Fun, but one problem…. Ok, I have collected a lot of cousins, but they won’t save sometimes. It’s frustrating because I really do have fun, but it’s exhausting trying to get them after you got them the first time. Other than that, the game is great!

My iPhone is about to combust. I love this game but playing on the iPhone can’t last too long before my phone is so hot I can’t touch it. This doesn’t happen with any other game or heavy duty app, so it’s definitely something with this game. Hopefully they can fix it cuz I want to keep playing!

Great entry to the series. Amazing new locales no recycled stages; graphics are so crisp at room and park level. One disappointment is the graphics/bareness at the larger/later stages.

Super good!. Like the rest say I was also hesitant…but nonetheless it’s amazing! I used to play the old one on PlayStation 2 with my brother and it was so much fun! I love how they brought it back but had a new age spin to it! I honestly hope they make another game for the PlayStation 5 sometime soon.

Fun concept. Bad controls.. The controls are super brutal on this. It feels like it’s forcing console controls onto mobile instead of just letting it be mobile controls. The camera orientation is terrible and seems to be inverted when trying to turn left or right. I wish controls were better because I could see myself playing a lot more. Too frustrating right now

Like it. This is a great game! My only problem with it is that sometimes the king is a little bit creepy to me. I’m not really used to it and no offense, but they could’ve made him a little less scary this is like a kids game!!!

Gyroscope Please!. I mean, it’s Katamari… but it’s also insanely frustrating. Why would you put a Katamari game on an iPhone without full two axis gyroscope support? You can tilt your turn, but not tilt to roll??! You have to fool around with swipes or the ever terrible virtual thumb sticks and it just stinks… let me tilt the darn phone!

Touchpad as control. This game was originally meant for touchscreens, so why can’t I just use my Touchpad to roll? Using the keyboard feels very non intuitive.

Best game ever. Hi so I like that you can unlock new streams and that some things move and that it’s awesome. Wish you can add a level creator. Add more things too:) I got this a couple years ago and deleted it but installed it again not that long ago. It’s a game with a lot of fun. Peace out.

Needs accessibility. This would be great if there was an option to just have fun rolling things up without the time pressure. Some option for those of us with physical problems that make the controls difficult

Glitch. In the “let’s enter an eating contest” the minimum to pass the level is 300kg, and no matter how many times I’ve beaten that or restarted the game it won’t let me pass. Love the game otherwise!

Why haven’t you fixed the camera yet?. I cannot believe I’ve been playing Katamari for decades and the camera is still so terrible! Please, don’t move the camera automatically. I have a control stick that can do that. And second, make that camera control stick more responsive. Katamari is such a fun concept that is always made terrible by the camera.

AMAZING but IMO, using a controller is not optional!. Use a controller and you’ll love this game. If you’ve played other Katamari games you will be thrilled with the game play, number of levels, variety in new and old stuff, and so many references and Easter eggs from old games.

Super Fun!. Super fun! Plays just like a normal katamari game on a console! One strange bug I’ve noticed however is that for some reason the game removes certain cousins that I’ve already unlocked. This is reoccurring for Patch, Cathrine, and the two camera ones. I have to keep going back to their levels and refinding them.

I LOVE KATAMARI. this game has been one of my favorites forever from the xbox 360 and the mobile version is just as good. i freaked out when i saw this was coming to apple arcade omg.

The eating contest is broke. Love the game so far, very nostalgic. One issue I’m having is no matter if I surpass 1-2 stars on the eating contest, it continues to say I completely failed! Please fix

Very fun. It is a very good game for when you just wanna destroy things, though it is kind of hard to control the calamari but is a still very good game so yes, I still do recommend.

DOES NOT WORK ON APPLE TV!. Be wary if you want to enjoy this game on your Apple TV. It does not work with neither game controllers, nor Apple TV remote. Stuck at save game screen loading screen but can’t select the save to load. Really wish they would fix this ASAP as they advertise it working with controllers and they work on other Apple devices.
