Washington DC Metro Route Map Comments & Reviews 2026

Should include trip cost. A part of Google maps serves the entire function of this app, and does it better. If it told you how much a trip would cost it would be worth having, but it doesn't, so it isn't.

Map. This thing is fantastic if you don’t know your way around. Just put in where from and where too! So simple

Great app. So far have not been disappointed Would like alerts on track down time Will wait and see

Fix your systems map. Junk

TIMES ARE NEVER ACCURATE. This app is useless if you want actual train arrival times. They are always early or late, and I’ve learned to not rely on it because I’ve missed a train one too many times. The adds are incredibly frustrating when you need information quickly. The UX is not intuitive or friendly. The kicker, the app doesn’t even work on metro wifi

Updated App. Really like the updated app and new features 👍🏽much smoother, easier to use. Update: would be great if the app factored in planned trackwork.

Nice user experience. As a first time user it was easy to complete my task. Got the information needed

Needs An Actual Route Planner. I appreciate the idea behind the app but it would be a lot more useful if you could put in actual addresses in the city and it map out a route of which station, line, and/or bus to take. In my opinion, a simple picture of the metro map serves the same purpose as this app. I guess it’s somewhat useful if you are completely unfamiliar with the transit system, though.

Not teal planner. It appears the ad free only allows real time trip data. Tried to change day snd time for future and it would not update. Hook to upgrade to the ad free international 2025 version provided only walking trip plans, not public transit or other. Useless unless you pay to play.

Ads ruin it. Intrusive ads that freeze your phone and can’t be stopped. You will miss your train just waiting for the map. Very little information about delays or closings. Skip or delete

Mixed Bag. This application presents a nice map of the Metro system, but is annoying to use. It is not nearly as user-friendly nor does it provide the level of useful information as did its predecessor.

Metro great. First time user. Here on vacation. Only complaint is that you have people playing loud music and dancing and accosting other riders for money.

Need to update map. Map is not up to date. For example, northbound yellow line now goes all the way to Greenbelt. There may be other new stuff too.

Wrong times consistently. This app used to be awesome, but over the past 9 months has not kept up with the adjusted actual train schedules. I e missed numerous trains because of it and ended up being late to many appointments as a result. Disappointing, because it’s an easy to use app and if the times were accurate, it would be perfect.

Good app , accurate. The app is generally quite accurate unlike pretty much any other online source . However, for Metro center the Red Line Shady Grove train is grouped with the Blue Orange and Silver line trains, so it is impossible to see more than 2 trains in advance, including the currently approaching one.

Does the job. App certainly does what it says. I was more hoping to find an app that shows live delays on planned routes. After going to and from work I had to take transfer buses bc of track work. Any live feed or text alerts would be perfect

Map out of date. I live off the newest portion of the silver line and this app hasn’t been updated at all in the last year to include the new stops when they opened. Absolutely useless for me.

Great App. This app was my lifesaver while exploring DC solo. I took the Metro a lot of places because of the ease of it and with this app I knew exactly where I needed to go, where to transfer, and how long it would take me, even if it was across the city. It did require time to already know the Metro stops near my destinations, but those were just a quick google search away. I love this app and will continue to use it if I’m ever in the DC area again!

Beautiful UI. Seems fairly intuitive to use and helpful

Only very few destinations can be searched.. Only very few destinations can be searched. You have to search the map visually to see the closest destination to use and again for the starting/origin point in case you’re trying to plan ahead. Basically is mainly for someone who already knows it’s way around the city.

DC Metro. Favourite and easiest Metro app to use. Love the feature that allows me to plan a trip for a future date. Only critique—would love to see elevator outages within the app.

Difficult to resize. I found this map difficult to resize and easy to loose your place.

Trip planning doesn’t work. The date / time feature in trip planning is broken. It always resets to the current date and time. And where are the timetables?

Times quoted are unreliable. The app itself is nice, but the times shown for trains arriving and departing from a station are not accurate enough to make the app really useful.

Worthless without live info. DC metro is notorious for not being on time, so as a commuter, I care less about scheduled trains and would rather know live information. The work/home/fav functionality isn’t convenient as there is not a quick one-click to get that info

The map is nice, but they don’t know what a planner is.. A planner looks ahead, trying to PLAN a trip... you know, beforehand. So, no, I’m not trying to get somewhere on the Metro from where I am right now. I’m wanting to find out how long the trip will take at a time I will be there in the future. What are the scheduled departure times for that day from the place I’m going to be? How long does my trip take at that time of day? Ok, I can estimate, because that’s what planners do, but this app could be much more helpful to planners.

Yellow line needs updating. The map still shows yellow line rush+ service to Franconia and to Greenbelt, which was discontinued months ago. Currently, the yellow line only goes to Huntingdon and to Mt. Vernon Square only during peak (to Ft. Totten off-peak).

Lacking. Either I couldn’t find the correct menu option or this app is practically useless. If the only thing you care about is a map of the system showing relative order of the stations, it’s fine. But if you want to know anything about a station, like WHERE IT’S ACTUALLY LOCATED or what it’s near, well, good luck. Maybe you can find something on Google

Easy to use. Vast improvements on this app makes it my favorite to use.

Favorites. When I have selected a route as a favorite and I go to the Fav tab, after pressing in the route, the app should automatically show me the train schedules NOT ask me to press “route” AGAIN! It defeats the purpose of bookmarking a route as a fav.

Great. Excellent help in getting around. Highly recommend ended.

Useful route info but can’t rely on timetable. I like the maps and route info but find that the time table is almost always wrong. Not reliable for scheduling.

Interfering advertisements. I had to delete the app because every single time I pulled it up- usually as I am running to the metro and trying to figure out the right platform with little time- some advertisements comes up with no X out button. I’d have to swipe close the app to get it to come up clean. By that time I’d lost valuable time to make a quick decision.

Awesome staff. Some of the friendliest people I have met in DC work for the metro. As tourists, my daughter and I, have felt lost but these people were always ready to answer any question with a smile and overall cheerfulness. No words are adequate to tell you how wonderful I believe your employees are

No internet connection. Typical of everything DC. This app is horrible. When you put in the location you want to go it gives you both directions the train travels to instead of giving you the direction of the train you need to get on. That makes zero sense like everything else in this city.

Too slow to load. I feel like this is an app that doesn’t entirely understand the need it’s supposed to fill. Some apps need to be able to perform a large number of computations at once. It’s understandable that these apps would take a while to load. This app, though, isn’t one of them. Essentially, all it needs to do is display a single image file showing a map. It’s users include people who are in a rush, who just got to the metro station and need to *quickly* figure out where they’re going. Tor them, it needs to load instantaneously. For them, the five to ten seconds this thing takes to load feels like an eternity. It isn’t worth whatever features cause it to take so long to load.

Really useful off the bat.. In two minutes I could make the plan for a trip to the national mall in dc. Subways are safe folks.

Bad advertisements. Sometimes the time is off by a min or two, so keep in mind these are approximates. If you get to the station 2-3min before the train you should be fine. Great app in general but has ads in other languages that do not show an “X” that allows you to close the add and go back to the app. Also, please remove the feature that defaults to walking routes.

Fist time. This was my first ride/experience with Metro. It was terrific. I got to see a lot of things with using the Metro. Thank you

Helpful but not always accurate. Gives you a rough estimate but sometimes comes earlier or later than what the app says

App opens then goes to Ad. And then it freezes just as the train arrives and you need to make sure that you are getting on the right train. Otherwise it’s OK. Look at the KORAILTALK and Tokyo metro apps. Much more utility. Perhaps you can borrow some ideas from more advanced cities?

Travel like a local. Absolutely no reason to ask other travelers how to navigate the metro. I’ve memorized the map because of this app. Fares, run times, and delays would be a really cool way to amp this thing up, though.

To many changes. Although there the look is nice the functionality is too complicated- the bold version was easy to just and straightforward

Force user to pay. This app force users to pay for the no ad version, otherwise, users will be blocked by the full page ads when you look at the metro map. Deleted.

Worthless. What good is this App if it fails to track system outages and construction work? This morning, the App took me first to Metro Center, then to Rosslyn to catch a train to Wiehle Reston. Service was not available from either station. I am now in an Uber and will spend twice as long to get to my destination and spend twenty times what I had planned.

Terrible. Aggressive ads. Completely useless when you’re trying to use it to get anywhere. I get that they need to make money but they even have pop up ads on their subscription screen. Also the splash screen takes way too long. I guess I’m just going to save a picture of the WMATA map and then delete this stupid app. When your ads break the basic functionality of the app, there is no excuse. Pure developer negligence.

Live Mapping. The app is good for planning. However, considering that the app is purchased, it should provide a live GPS map for easier tracking.

Talk about limited. You can’t customize anything with the route planner. For example you can’t enter in the time you’ll be leaving or the time you want to arrive to see when you need to leave. I deleted the app instantly, easily one of the worst transportation apps I’ve tried. Useless.

Train delay. It’s a holiday weekend and when I arrived at the station there was a metro with riders in it and doors closed. The driver sat for 3 min and left without opening the doors again. We waited over 20 min for a train to arrive. All the while hearing reports that there was a delay. The driver should’ve opened the doors again knowing there was a delay and we would wait extra time due to silver line issues

Return trip should be default option.. Otherwise it was very useful.

Dc metro app. I love Washington’s subway system.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Have to know stations to use. Don’t use if you need to find a station nearest to a GIVEN address. You have to know the stations. So I’ll use another app for that? LOL

Map is way out date. The map is wrong and is missing stations

Stupendous. No better sidekick to navigate the city with.

Times wrong. Had the redline times wrong- got there when it said 5 minutes until train and it was leaving as I ran down the stairs - if I wanted to miss trains I wouldn’t have logged into your app.

Horrible interface. Wow could this app be less intuitive or user friendly? I guess with effort but that would take… well… effort. Garbage.

Free version not recommended. The ads were so intrusive and lengthy on the free version that I often gave up and just went to Google Maps.

App !. It’s either too freaking complicated or it’s not working. I can’t just put into where from? And it lead me to where i am going !!

How much?. Good map but no pricing anywhere once you map your trip so you have no idea what you need to put on your card!

App is fine. I understand ads and I don’t necessarily mind them. I do not appreciate having to play a shooting game to get to the metro map

Airport to Hotel- No Problems. This app is great! We flew into the Reagan airport and took a ride to King street with no problems.

Clumsy. It takes too long to get to what I want. If I’m looking for a yellow heading to Huntington from L’Enfant Plaza, by the time I get to the right page an ad has popped up. Other apps are better

Hard to use. Hard to use

Wrong times. This app provided me with the wrong metro times. I showed up to the station 2 min before train said it would depart, per the app. However, it was a 6 min wait. This is not in real time!

Disappointing. Dulles AP route and schedule are unrepresented. Fare info missing. Missing metro Construction and delay reports, features, rules, extra services.

Metro app. Easy to use and understand.

Unable to Enter Both Destination and Departure. Unclear how to enter both destination and departure. Either the feature is missing or the GUI is poorly designed.

Misleading. Train times are scheduled not actual which, given Metros problems, makes the Metro portion at best worthless and at worst harmful to your schedule. Metro’s app has actual times and is pretty accurate.

Great App, Not Perfect. I love the app but sometimes the times are completely off.

Lots of Errors on DC Metro. Zoomed In-Detail Map- doesn’t show Silver Line Extension Phase One. Zoomed Out-System Map- Has Silver Line disappear at Potomac with large section not appearing in DC Sloppy and could lead to lots of navigation errors. Use something else.

Good App but can’t plan for future days. Wish I could plan my route for tomorrow, etc to know schedules.

Great app. Never has to many freezes on this app , the time is always rite

Train times are incorrect.. Multiple times I miss trains as this app is wildly inaccurate for actual arrival times of trains at stations. Disappointed that I paid to go ad free. Google maps is better.

Isn’t updated for line and station outages. Nice app if it were close to accurate. Needs to have a better ‘real-time’ awareness. Routed me from a station that’s been in renovation for a month already and on a line with 5 stations closed.

Metro. Easy to use. Great tool.

Rarely accurate. Got the app so I could minimize waiting on metro. Not sure why, but it’s a crap shoot on departing times. So frustrating.

Inaccurate data. App is currently giving incorrect information regarding which stops are closed and open.

Simple and easy map. Really simple and easy to use.

Worse than worthless. This app made me miss my flight-wish i never downloaded-it obviously is not connected to real time data since it doesnt even know when lines are not jn service. DO NOT USE

Very long ads to watch. Way too many loooong ads to watch when you want to use the app.

Nice app. This is a convenient app, to whom want to move by rail.

Almost useless. People need location-to-location advice to determine which line and stop to take. This app doesn’t do this and only shows how to get between stops, which is already obvious.

Timing is off. Stuck at the metro now for another 10 mins now. The exact reason why I downloaded the app was to avoid this situation. App is a waste of time (quite literally).

App does what it’s supposed to… except inconvenient ads. The ads pop up immediately when you open the app, which is usually when I need to see what train to get on. Not ideal

Confusing. Not user friendly at all. Does not show schedules. Trying to plan a trip from Pentagon City to Farragut West. The app is hard to follow

Not easy to use. Feel I was misled on its abilities. The app is not user friendly and does not help on how to walk route to a destination after getting off metro

No ability to add specific addresses. No walking times.. This app lacks many features like adding specific addresses and walking times.

Meciocre. Poor information, difficult to use.

Super helpful!. I’m going to college in DC and it’s really helped me out.

Useless. Free version was useless so I wasn’t going to chance paying for the ad free version hoping it would work better.

Ads. Don’t block content with ads. I work in programmatic advertising and this is a horrible experience.

Washington sites. First time on our own using metro and visit to the African American museum. Directions spot on!

A very useless app. Just a scam to make you click on ads. Just download the PDF and put it on your phone!

Lacks bus route. This is not comprehensive directions from door to door of all the local public transit options like the WMATA website which includes bus routes for WMATA and The Bus as well as metro rail.

Update. I love the new update

Train times useless. This app is absolutely useless for train times. Instead of reporting *actual* times, it reports *scheduled* times. These vary wildly, making the app useless for determining when to catch a train (the sole reason I installed).

Pretty picture but lacks train info. The map is as good as on all the WMATA apps. What it needs is a trip planner to tell me when the next train is and how long a trip will take.

Don’t like current version. In the previous version I could plan a route and see what time trains are arriving in real time. Now you have to refresh the screen so frequently to get updated wait times.

Visitors don’t count!. I’m heading to DC and staying in a hotel. I put in the address of where I’m going thinking it would tell me what stop to get off. Nope!! It’s been a few years since I’ve used Metro. It use to tell me that info.

Very useful for tourist. We used the app constantly while visiting D.C. for the week.

Not helpful. Takes too many clicks to find time trains leave or hours of operation. I’ll just have to get on google bc the app doesn’t work well.
