Great software!. I grew up with an RSV bible (protestant). I also took quite a few religious classes in college. The is a general app to fall back on to get the foundations grounded. I hope it works for years to come. Thank you, Faithlife!

Very helpful. The way this software holds your place makes it easy to cross reference topics in different sections of different articles or even in the same article. I really appreciate the books that come with this app. I find it helps me with apologetics. The Faith Database is another software I highly recommended.

Wishing for UI changes. Customer support usually can explain away complaints or suggestions I have about an app, but I'd love the simplest possible search bar on the opening screen that could have me look up a passage or word (any language) like a concordance with all the hits showing up directly below.

Good app but. I like how I have access to my library, documents, collections, etc. reading is easy on the iPad (better than the desktop). I would like to be able to use the app on my iPad with the same functionality of the desktop version. For example, create, change collections; search without being online; layouts for different types of activities like homily prep, exegesis, teaching prep.

All the “links” and new books flying open all of a sudden; accidentally highlighting text; the learning curve is too steep for my boneheaded brain. • I’m sure their is a set-up guide somewhere. • But I cant seem to find it. • I’ll just buy a hard copy somewhere. • Great work, devs, I’m just not too bright.

It just keeps getting better. I’ve been using Verbum for seven years, and constantly am finding out new ways to both increase my knowledge of the faith, but to apply it to my ministry. I highly recommend it.

Unbelievably Good. With the release of Verbum 6.01, this app has reached a new height of usefulness with tabbed resources. I find myself drawn to this app more than my web browser and social media apps now that it’s so easy to immerse oneself in Scriptural and Patristic study. Well done, Logos! I hope to see this iOS app continue to evolve into something that rivals the desktop app, especially on the new iPhone X and iPad Pro, which seem to have enough power to do so.

A rich source for spiritual nourishment and growth. An excellent, extensive and rich library and tools for anyone looking to deepen and enrich their understanding and relationship with God. I highly recommend Verbum to anyone who wants to understand the foundation of our Catholic faith and tradition.

Excellent app. Excellent. Everything in one place. The daily readings are very useful. Wish it was audio as I would enjoy listening to readings and other prayers while driving.

Fantastic app that keeps getting better. I have used Logos/Verbum for many years on the desktop, iPad and iPhone and it is an invaluable research and inspirational tool. The iOS versions have come a long way and keep getting better with each release. I just wish you could select the reading font.....

A conservative 4-star rating earNow 5 stars as phone now gives me time with God. The only thing missing is my making more use of Verbum; more time with this content, and with God. Maybe I should take more time than I do with all the tools. Having these so accessible is nice and I do use them, but most of us simply need to read scripture more and take time to listen.

Good for iPad but needs more features. You need a full feature Verbum system on a Mac or PC to fully use this app. Would like to see it allow create and upload/download of personal documents

Unintuitive interface keeps getting worse. I’ve used their apps for nearly five years. Their interfaces (especially on the desktop app) have always been unintuitive. Now they’ve ruined an otherwise decent mobile app. The primary way I use notes on mobile is side-by-side with my Bible so I can see the notes as I read scripture. That used to work OK on my iPad. Now it’s nearly impossible. What compelled them to force a THREE PANE VIEW on mobile? How did anyone think that was a good idea? Clearly nobody at the company who actually used it. I used to be able to simply open the notebook in split view with my Bible and scroll through the notes and tap the note icon next to a passage in scripture to load that note in the notebook pane. Now the note opens ON TOP of the scripture, preventing me from reading the scripture. Then it takes half a dozen taps to go from one note to another, then I have to scroll through the entirety of the scripture I anchored the note to just to get to my personal note that was the only reason I opened the note in the first place. Since notes are the primary reason I’m even still using this app, I’m dumping this app for one that’s actually usable.

Amazing Tool. The Verbum app is an absolutely amazing tool that will help you take your next Bible study to the next level. Sure I love the written text and own some valuable reference books. I prefer using the actual hard copy text in books but, this app is so much more and so much quicker to access your materials!

This app has changed my life!. This app is utterly amazing and has changed my life. I find myself interacting with the scriptures (and other amazing sources too!) like never before. Many of the other resources made available for free are worth their weight in gold too (Denzinger for instance). This app works particularly well with the Apple Pencil which allows you to select passages and highlight with ease. The app also includes comprehensive clipping features to save all your favorite passages (from any source) for easy reference later. There are also robust sharing features including a positively brilliant “visual copy” feature that converts your selected passage into a great graphic for sharing on social media. This app is so well done I am very seriously considering investing in one of their comprehensive resource suites.

I haven’t found a better digital resource!. As a parish priest I can say with confidence that I have yet to find a better resource for in depth study into Sacred Scripture, the Divine Liturgy (of both the West and the East), the Dogma of the Church, and of the Words of the Holy Fathers. Keep up the good work. I thank you and our parish thanks you as well!

Perfect. I recommend to all. It has a great search function, can compare different versions of the Bible, and comes with some great free resources. It is even better when you have a verbum library on your computer.

A great daily companion on the go. I really love the features of this app that make having a readable Bible on hand so easy. I also like the extra study features and commentaries that are available to be purchased with the app. Having the “low light” setting makes spending this extra time with God’s word easy on the eyes. This app and all the extra features are worth every penny!

Crashing..... I absolutely love this app but it does not load past the loading screen before it crashes. I am a portfolio buyer and Verbum 8 and cannot use this right now. Is there an update scheduled?

Best App for Catholic Study and Prayer. I use Verbum everyday for both study and prayer, usually Lectio Divina. It has so many great features and the library of books you can get with it is simply amazing.

Helps to keep me on task. With the spiritual battle raging all about us, it is nice to whip out my phone and delve into the holy scriptures when I have a extra few minutes waiting in line.

Better than other apps I’ve used. So far it works well. I will update my 5 star review if I find things I don’t like.

Didn’t know what to expect. For quite a few years I have used “Ictus 3”, a search engine which has given me great results. It’s limited to PC computers and I would like to move toward Apple System. Thus I found “Verbum” and “Logos Bible” which is very good, but as far as I can see in my attempts to start making good use of it, I can’t draw —by far- the benefits I had with Ictus 3. The interface is different, granted. But the wealth of documents in Ictus 3 is huge and the access to commentaries excellent. Somehow related to “Biblia Clerus”. Maybe I don’t know how to use Verbum and need some mor guidance. I bought a license for that system (Ictus 3) —pricey really, but worth my money. Any suggestion?

Love this app. I bought Verbum to help during graduate studies, and it has been terrific. I can flip through different passages in the Bible that we are discussing, then jump to a paragraph from the documents of Vatican II, and still keep up with the professor and my notes. I put the app on my phone and have found myself dipping into scripture throughout the day. I look at the daily readings, or go looking for a particular passage that relates to a conversation I’m having. It can do a lot more, and I have used it for more than just a Bible app, but for the most part that’s how I use it. It’s a lot easier to quickly find the information I want than any other Bible app I’ve ever used. Highly recommend this app for anyone who already uses Verbum.

Interface needs work. It is wonderful to have the Bible available on my cell phone to access it anytime. Less than terrific interface, however.

Sirach 24:24-26. The above verses are not aligned with this Verbum app. I doubled and tripled checked before writing this review: I am the mother of fair love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of holy hope. In me is all grace of the way and of the truth; in me is all hope of life and of virtue. Come to me all that desire me and be filled with my fruits (Sirach 24:24-26). Instead it has this: Sirach 24:22–26 (RSVCE): 23 All this is the book of the covenant of the Most High God, the law which Moses commanded us as an inheritance for the congregations of Jacob. 25 It fills men with wisdom, like the Pishon, and like the Tigris at the time of the first fruits. 26 It makes them full of understanding, like the Euphrates, and like the Jordan at harvest time.

Gets better and better!. Verbum’s mobile app staff keeps upgrading its features and adding new ones. Adding books does the same. Of course, selling those resources is the reason they are able to offer this great app for free! That, and leading you towards upgrading to its more comprehensive computer platform program. That’s “not a bad thing” for those who wish to bring their “Wisdom” and “Faith” to even higher levels.

Latest update. Latest update makes it more slightly cumbersome to use the “Passage Guide”. Instead of researching various commentaries on one tab, you now have them spin off separate pages.

Updates not as useful. Thank you for this app! I use every day, and I very much appreciate it. However, I am not as impressed with the updated dashboard interface-it’s dull and harder to find what I am looking for. The verse of the day is not as inspiring as it once was, and it seems as if though there may be a new artist or a group of artists, however the recent verses are not very good, in my opinion. I do like the fact that you can click on the Image and it takes you to the verse. The newer ones (within the last several months) or not as inspiring as they used to be, and often are highlighting negative passages. For example the one listed for December 5, 2019, refers to a Punishment of the children of Israel. I realize that we must see both sides of the spiritual equation, however, that should be reflected within the understanding of the person, or persons creating these “inspirational verses of the day.” I used to regularly share these with others so that they may be inspired as I was, however, I am finding fewer and fewer of them are worth sending to others.

Overall pleased.. I’ve been using this app on my iPhone and like it a lot. I’ve just got an iPad, and like it better. I do wish that the app allowed for sending misspelled words to Verbum like the desktop version does. Overall I'm pleased.

Verbum is a wonderful app for Bible study!. On the go, I can look up my Bible Verses in seconds on my phone. I can copy and paste into Notes and have the verses at my fingertips.

Intimidated at first but now it’s awesome. I really shouldn’t have been so intimidated by it. The interface is quite intuitive and the initial free literature with it is quite impressive to get one started. The the linked/split screen syncing between Bible passages and commentaries is awesome!

As a catechist, I highly recommend!. I’ve been using Verbum to help me prepare my RCIA lessons since I got this as a recommendation from another catechist. It is the most powerful tool for studying the Catechism of the Catholic Church alongside the Church Fathers and Sacred Sacred Scripture. The only thing I don’t understand is how Verbum Now fits into Verbum 7.

Well worth the cost. I was a logos software user way back when. Then I heard about this software, it is amazing. I have had it 2 years now and I find new ways to explore Scripture everyday. With all the Church documents, books, writings etc., I find myself using it daily. From daily readings, prayers, to deep study, reflection and presentations. I can’t say enough good things about this software.

Not perfect, but..... This application is as as useful and powerful as it can be given that the platform, IOS device, is limited. Offline, without internet connection, there are still very many of the capabilities available. Those lacking are those of the tools, as is with the passage guide for one, are only available online. The user need only to know how to navigate individual resources to get to the desired results. There seems to be little lacking as soon as the app connects online. Some limitations on flexibility remain as on the computer version, but time will tell since evolution and innovation may continue to improve capabilities. Thanks to Verbum, Logos, FaithLife, etc.

Verbum - Great Resources Everyday. I find great benefit in the passage and topic guides. Through these resources I am able to go deeper into the Word of God. The reading plans give me a solid path over which I journey daily through God's plan of salvation.

Great Bible Study App. I am using this app as my first read thru the Bible from beginning to end. I like the resources. I do wish I could easily insert a place-mark where I left off in each. I often get bounced back into the beginning of the book.

There is no other software like it!. Verbum changes everything about Patristic and Biblical study. We have had the works of the Fathers translated into English for a while now, but in no other time have we had them all at our digital fingertips. The same can be said about the tools of Biblical Study. I remember my grandfather diving deep into the Holy Scriptures with his Concordance and magnifying glass out. I hope that we never depart from that engagement in the physical text. We have something in Verbum that he could never have dreamed of and that is the theological writings of most of Christendom, libraries of books. More words than Gutenberg could’ve ever imagined published all at your fingertips. I’m a priest and I own Verbum 10 Portfolio and am considering a Phd now with the tools that I have received with Verbum. Our children homeschool and they will use Verbum in their study of Greek, Latin, the Bible, the Catechism, the Magisterium, and the Fathers! The sky is the limit and the exciting world of Patristic and Biblical study is out there to be engaged with. Get it, your children and grandchildren will thank you!

Best of the Best Catholic Apps. Verbum, with its seemingly unlimited access to Catholic writings and Bible versions, not to mention its nimble user interface, is 10X better than the next best Catholic Bible study app out there. And that includes those paid apps. I’ve made my share of book purchases through Verbum, but even without that bookstore feature it’s still the best of the best Catholic study apps. Bar none. You won’t bet disappointed.

Great App. Liked the app with its free initial resources so much that I subscribed for a Catechism package and got Logos software as well. Great products. Update: I've expanded the Catechism package several times. Has gotten expensive, several hundred dollars; but the cost is worth it for some really superlative resources to study the Bible, Catechism, and Church Fathers. Also great apologetics and catechetical resources. The software is free, but most of the resources are not. Another update (2/20): One very nice feature is Verbum’s Free Book of the Month. I’ve significantly added important resources to my library at no additional cost. Verbum continues to be a critical part of my plan for spiritual growth.

Excellent Bible Software. Verbum draws you closer to Jesus by deepening your faith through the study of sacred scripture and sacred tradition. The ease of use and functionality is exceptional. I am just a layman and am so impressed with the simplicity for the common man. I have yet to find study guides on the encyclicals written by the most recent popes, but I am sure it’ll come soon or I just haven’t discovered it.

An incredible app, my favorite by far!. It is absolutely packed with useful features for serious study of the scripture; highlighting both by verse and by word and in many colours and styles, in line notes where you can place links to other passages with many tags and colours to choose from, plentiful resources (commentaries, catechisms, church documents, etc), the best Catholic translations available, in app dictionaries and definitions including breakdowns from the original greek and hebrew, the list goes on and on! Slightly hindered by occasional slowdowns, and I wish there were included audio bibles (I am especially desperate for recordings of the deuterocanon, which seem to be very hard to find) but not enough even to detract a star from my rating; it is as close as I’ve found to a perfect catholic bible study app and I would highly recommend it to anyone

Crashing. First I love this app, I have it on all my devices, iPhone, iPad, laptop and desktop. I’ve had it since it’s introduction. I’ve even signed up for the unlimited resources. Additionally I have “logos” on my devices. This new update of “Verbum” seems to have some kind of bug. When you open the app it goes to the intro screen and hangs, then crashes. Interestingly my “Logos” works fine. Hopefully the authors can remedy this glitch. The anomaly happens on all my iOS devices. I have uninstalled it three times and get the same problem after reinstalling the app. Before update a great five star until it’s fixed how can I rate it anything but a one star. Please fixed Bug causing crash fixed back to 5 star ratings

Verbum. I have a busy life and can’t get to my churches bible study classes. This has allowed me to study in my own time and pace and feel closer to my faith.

Verbum. I know that l am not terribly advanced IT wise but this app is the most confusing l have ever downloaded. Have absolutely no idea how to operate which is really disappointing as l was really looking forward to using it

Obliterates ignorance - if you don't think its worth it, your an idiot. I cannot praise this enough. It's like I have open access to St Thomas Aquinas' comprehensive brainpower. All that's important, intellectually speaking, in theology is right here. There's literally no reason why your homilies, essays, writings and general knowledge can't be outstanding after having access to a resource like this.

Top notch tool but a little too web dependant.. Logos Bible has made a wonderful app with verbum. Not only does logos have the largest selection of works it makes study nearly effortless. Your Verbum books are synced leave off on page two on your iPad and when you get back to Verbum desktop on your computer you can continue reading on along with all the notes and high lites you made on your iPad. You devotional readings are built into the interface too. The only blemish on this APP is the dependance on Logos servers to do passage guide and advanced study work. Meaning you have little more than an ebook reader with no Connectivity.

Fantastic Reference. The free Verbum app comes with plenty of scripture, reference and devotional material which would be greatly enhanced by having the Verbum (Logos) desktop software to sync with. Unfortunately the $$$ desktop versions are beyond my reach and I'll have to content myself with the free iPhone app.

A must have for apologetics. This is a fantastic resource for any debater of early church history and bible study. The ability to quickly cross reference or look up the Greek meanings is especially useful.

Great readings, commentaries and references. As a cradle catholic but not good bible reader I appreciated this app with it's daily readings and various commentaries so I could fully comprehend and digest all I read. Having been reading for a week I feel my faith life growing. Thanks!!!

Excellent app! So many available books too!. For years I have been trying to learn a bit more about being catholic since I typically have gone to church twice a year my entire life. There are so many resources here and I found one book in particular that I believe used to part of catechism classes. It has certain chapters of the bible with footnotes to explain certain parts as well as a detailed commentary at the end to explain the chapter. It's so fantastic and now that I'm going to church a bit more, once or twice I've heard similar portions spoken about there by the priest. And I actually understand it! There are so many resources on this app I would compare it to a fantastic small little private library, and I've only read some of one of the books do far so plenty more if I want or if you have different goals or needs

Great study guide. This app is full of useful information. I use it to study the bible readings.

More than needed with nice extras. More than just a bible with interesting commentary and extras. I find the pictorial lives of the saint something that I use daily as well.

Great App. This is a great app for those who are interested in understanding more the meaning behind the scriptures

Very out of date. The contents of this software are very out of date. There seems to be is no reference to anything after 1960. There are no Vatican ll documents and so much of its content is in error with current church teaching. The information on the saints of the day is also void of any modern saints since the early 1900’s. Some useful historical readings, but would not recommend this as a credible reference source. Search function searches only book titles and not content so it too is pretty much useless. Not sure why they would exclude any reference to modern saints and doctrine? Seems to be not very sincere in there efforts to present a credible reference platform.

A protestant app made for Catholics- Commentaries are Anti-Catholic. Many resources offered in this app are protestant and deny Catholic doctrines like the Eucharist and Confession and so on. Commentaries offered blatantly deny these truths on key scriptures that clearly teach them. They claim that the bible doesn’t say what it says. This is not only irresponsible but evil to intentionally deceive Catholics by promoting this app as a Catholic app. It’s a protestant app for Catholics :( The Catholic Study Bible by St. Ignatius is a much better bible app

Great instant encyclopedia. Great app easy to use and gives biblical supported information to questions at hand.

Runs wonderfully fast on the iPad Pro.. The iPad version of Verbum has come a long way.

Exceptional. The cross referencing in the Bible passages is extraordinary, and very helpful for meditation!

Not Great Design. It is helpful to have my library available wherever I go. However, I wish Faithlife would produce a less clunky (such as with the loading times) and more user-friendly (easier to navigate without endless clicks) app. Other Bible study applications have done so.

great app, not perfect. Incredibly useful, but many of the translations or editions of various resources were done by non-Catholics and sometimes their perspective is seen, rather than a Catholic one.

No more dictionary. After the last update I lost the 'Look Up' feature. Four emails to tech support and still no dictionary. New isn't always better, I want my old app back!

Like it, but.... Hi everyone, I just would like to add that this program is great for exegesis and research both for term papers and homily prep. The only fault that I see is that there is a huge learning curve. However, given enough time, it is can be a great asset. Sincerely, Fr. Xavy

Lotsa resources, but hoped for more. There is so much that one could use with this app. It seems very thorough. But I was hoping for a more interesting commentary that ran side by side the scripture.

I’m reading the Bible !. This tool is Aiding me in reading the word , God’s word .

Good idea, but. This app was looking to be very promising. However once I got it loaded I had difficulty navigating through the app. I never did figure out how to get to the daily reading and daily Breviary. I do not recommend if you are first in use apps for bible study.

Not able to sign up in 3 different devices. If signing up is so important just to read topics or prayers why not fix it!

Good app but. Why is there no way to edit reading plans on the app? All it allows me to do is change the name. For a Catholic app I'm really saddened that the only chronological plans do not include the canonical texts. Also why can't I create my own reading plan on the app. I don't want to have to go to my computer to create a plan for my phone.

Fantastic. Need I say more? Praise the Lord for this software.

Favorite AP for spiritual growth. If you find it challenging and are intimidated to read the Bible, this is a great tool to have. I am eager to use it and have yet to use the additional resources.

Don’t update. Has crashed repeatedly after I updated app. Was great before but currently unusable. Wait for fix.

Constantly crashes. App freezes and crashes constantly. It has become virtually unusable. Please fix!

Verbum is my go to!. Wonderful tool for study of the Bible and the thoughts of commentators throughout history. I don’t know how I lived without it. Truly software that indispensable!

Reading plan. I really like the reading plan. It breaks the readings into sections so you are not overwhelmed. This version of Bible is easy to read.

Amazingly Useful. This app, especially with the new update, manages to make studying theological texts as easy and entertaining as streaming a movie. This app is a great way to connect with the Lord!

Version 8 crash???. Help- I download the new version 8 Monday- now app crashes on opening. I had a back up of prior version and went back and reinstalled and works fine. I tried Version 8 on another iPhone and it too crashed on opening. I think I’ll wait a few days for an update to the version 8 update.

Verbum 8. A great tool that glorifies God through its completeness and portability. It facilitates closeness with God through His word.

Downloading. It won’t download the app I have more then enough storage and it won’t download

Another disappointing update to the iOS app. Here is another update that revamps the look and feel of the app without fixing any issues: 1. Notes are still sorted by last modified; still no ability to sort by any other methods. 2. Still can’t list resources which cite a particular verse or scripture passage one is studying. 3. Still can’t submit issue and help requests through the app; still can’t submit typos for correction. Does Verbum ever talk to the users to find out what they want in the iOS app? It doesn’t seem like it.

Logos to Verbum. Being Anglo-Catholic the stress upon the Patristics Fathers I wanted a program similar to Logos. Verbum was the answer. I transitioned and kept all my Logos library. It’s great.
