yikes. when this app works, it is absolutely wonderful. sadly, that rarely ever happens. it takes at least 10 mins for the app to open to the main screen so that i can clock in for work. then clocking in takes another 2 minutes. and god forbid i ever want to look at who’s scheduled with me.. that takes forever to load as well. ive tried deleting and redownloading and it is ALSO taking absolutely forever to do just that! not to mention the constant maintenance being done on the app. it’ll also tell me that my paycheck is ready to view so i try ti go view it, and it’s nowhere to be found. this app constantly has issues and i hate that i have to use it for work.

Recent update broke running payroll.. I generally run payroll and get the reports to our owner who then approves payroll and I will then finish the process of submitting it to Paychex. Many times, I get a text on the weekend or in the evening letting me know I can submit payroll. It used to be, I could log into the app and just submit payroll in the last step. Now, I log in and the app behaves as though I am accessing it through a mobile browser. I get notified that not all features are available in the "mobile browser" and for full functionality, I should download the app. I am in the app. Until this feature is once again fixed, the app is worthless for my purposes. I'd give it 5 stars otherwise. Will update my review and stars when it's fixed.

Needs work. Buttons missing, important ones like clock in, on the laptop, it doubles the hours when you have work entered then enter On-site pay. Since they removed the Classic version, the app has not worked. I contacted their help desk, their only response was for me to contact out HR. I complied and now she’s having issues getting through. I can’t clock in or use the app for the phone, I can see what hours I worked 2 weeks ago till Tuesday and can’t enter any more hours in. Lap top version is overly complicated and you spend several screen punches and 30 mins. Just to enter time for one day work times. The developers need to speak to those who actually have to use this app. We will be dropping this service since the Paychex rep told us “ it’s just the way it is now” unprofessional and ridged. Sad state of affairs. Don’t bother calling, using the help button on the app or emailing this company. They won’t return any correspondence.

Poor functionality. This app barely functions on iPhone. Even after signing up on an iPad it still won’t work on iPhone. For the biggest paycheck processor it’s an extremely poor app. The layout is clunky and disorganized. The search feature is almost useless so they might as well take it out. If I didn’t have to use this app for work it wouldn’t be worth keeping. I wrote this review years ago. They have not fixed it. Login is slow and clumsy. Even now it just won’t load properly or quickly. Sometimes I get random text messages from the app saying my paycheck stub is available from a month ago. Maybe if they spent a little more on the app and less worrying about share holders everyone including share holders would be happier.

Log on lacking. Constant issues logging in. At first use it constantly made you verify identity. Now a couple months in, it will not connect to server, have to log in, time out, log in again. Then when you finally can log in ten or fifteen minutes later the dashboard show up blank screen with no clock in or out option, so swipe out, try to log on again rinse repeat. It’s great when it works, but every day I need 3 to 5 attempts to actually log in to clock in or out. I’ve updated the app, removed and reinstalled updated iPhone still the same issue. We have 15 employees and we all experience the same issue with this app.

Find a different app. This app takes forever to load every single time i go to open it, it genuinely takes over 5 minutes to even log in or there is some type of error it’s so inconvenient. I shouldn’t have to wait five ever just to open it especially when i need it for work. Please use this app if you love wasting your time and have patience. I’m not really sure why it has such a high rating when half the reviews can’t even get into the app half of the time, and the customer service isn’t helpful either.. if you’re thinking of using this app for your employees please find something else

Never loads promptly. I have constant issues getting the app to actually open when I need it to. Tried with wifi, without, turned phone off and back on completely, deleted and redownloaded the app. Never loads promptly and it’s an inconvenience to myself and my boss who is always fixing my clockings. I have deleted the app to redownload in hopes that this would help. I now cannot download the app, it gets stuck about 3/4’s of the way when downloading and now I cannot clock out from the first part of my shift and click back in for the second part this evening. Upon reading reviews several people are having the same issue. This is something that needs to be fixed, I have had this issue pretty much the entire year and a half I have worked for the company I currently work for.

Always a PTO error. While most of its functions are nice, on the employee end, when you check your PTO accrual history, it’s almost like it forgets math. For example, I’ll have 8 hours taken each day while I’m on vacation. Everything is all fine and dandy for the first few days. Then all of a sudden I’ll go from have 60 hours to -2 hours. The deduction will math is all wrong down to the minute. Even when I go to the balances, it’s completely wrong! It’ll say I used way less hours than I accrued, but still show a negative balance. Luckily when I’ve spoken to management, this error doesn’t show on their end and if they re-save, it goes back to normal on my end. But then a few days pass, and it’s magically in the negative again on my end. This is something Paychex needs to fix. I shouldn’t have to keep contacting my boss in a panic on whether or not I’ll get my PTO while on vacation.

Horrible App. The app seems to be awfully buggy. It will work fine for a week or so and then just won’t load or takes forever to load/open. So I will delete and redownload the app and then it will work again. Been doing this for a few months now and nothing seems to change, I have automatic updates turned on so I am not sure if this is the issue or what but the app is extremely frustrating when it doesn’t load allowing me to clock in and then I have to waste more of my and my employers time and money every time I have to wait and then every time I have to then go back in the app later on to adjust my time and attendance. Do not recommend.

Bad time keeping. This is an inaccurate time keeping website for any company and the developers need to reinvent how it tracks time. If an employee is not watching their time on here then you are getting ripped off from your paycheck and the company you are working for is gaining money while you work for free. If you clock in 7 minutes past the hour then this website charges you 15 minutes past the hour. It does not keep an accurate time of your clock in and clock out time. Time worked is time paid and this website DOES NOT log it correctly. If I could give this app zero stars to reflect the company website I would do it. The developers of this website should be reported to the United States Department of Labor along with the Fair Labor Standards Act. DO NOT GET THIS Website OR USE THE PAYCHEX app.

Constantly hangs on login on iPhone 14. This app has consistently fails to login and just stays in a hung state after you get pasted login but before it loads the dashboard. You will sit there for hours and have to reset your phone to get in. I just decided to delete the app and reload it on my phone and it hangs during the download. I’ve reset the phone via power cycle, and tried. Nothing works. I have over 128GB on my phone so it is not a memory issue. It works on my iPad so it is. Or a wifi or connection issue. The app has a bug which hangs and my guess is it sees my IP address and uses that somehow. I don’t always logout after checking in I just close the app. That should not crash the app and make it sit in an endless loop of connecting and downloading the dashboard. This is beyond frustrating as a both an employee and employer! Can’t do payroll if the dashboard never loads after login is successful!

Slow & buggy trash. For an app that’s used to help people keep their time logged, this app is hot garbage.. Let me elaborate. It sporadically logs you out and requires a text message verification, even though this is the only device I use. It can take up to a whole minute to actually load, so what should take 10 seconds (opening app and tapping a button) actually takes me 2 minutes since I now expect the app to be slow or malfunction. Sometimes you think you’ve pressed a button like clock in/out, but the app doesn’t actually register it. The app gives you multiple error messages. Do BETTER.

Garbage. My company switched from Paycom to Paychex a few months ago. Paychex must be quite cheaper because this app is almost useless. Good luck trying to even login. I’d say 75% of the time the app won’t even get past the login screen. I have to wait until later to write in my hours most of the time. Sometimes you’ll be able to clock in, then later the app won’t load for you to clock out. If you’re lucky and get past the first screen, half the time your clock in button won’t appear. The screen will be blank white with a buffering logo. The app always runs slow, clicking on another tab is taking a risk of the app crashing on you. The last company had a “Pay To Date” feature, which would show you all of your hours and how much money you’ve made so far in the pay period. Paychex doesn’t have that option unfortunately. Overall a major downgrade from what we were using last time. I hardly write reviews, but after today when the app once again wouldn’t login, I couldn’t take it anymore lol. The fact that this app has 5 stars is an abomination.

S-L-O-W-E-S-T app ever. I have been using this app for nearly three years. It is what my employer requires us to use. This app takes FOREVER to open. 3,4,5…10 minutes. And that’s just to get the app loaded. Try clicking on time detail so you can go to a pay period and see your punches… better pack a picnic. Want use the help tab? I hope you have 20 minutes… I honestly don’t know why I still have it on my phone. It just infuriates me each time I try to get information…Oh right because it’s how I get my tax information… yeah filing my taxes normally takes me about as long as getting my 1044 from the app… it’s a real joy each tax season.

Worse than the plague!. This app is ridiculously terribly slow. The developer should be ashamed of themselves for releasing such garbage. On top of an already slow app, about every three or four times I open it. It asked for a security verification. I'm not sure that there's anything that I can say about this app that's actually good. If you're thinking of going with this company for your payroll, I highly recommend you look somewhere else. There are a lot of better options out there. Update. Paychex is selling customer information!!! I received emails to my paychex email account that is only used for paychex. These emails are for me to enroll in healthcare and other benefits offered by a third party. It should be illegal to sell my personal info like this on a service that I cannot opt out of. I cannot verbalize my disgust with this company. Please do you and your employees a favor and avoid them like the plague. They are even worse. We have cured the plague! Now with the latest update, it forces you to re-authenticate every time you login almost. What’s the whole point of the remember me checkbox if you’re this forgetful? The developers of this app should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe they should go try to find a better job where they can actually do something that would be if it society instead of this garbage.

Useless. This app is by far the worst app, probably on the entire app store, for loading. Face ID instantly works but makes you wait an eternity to load. I’ve had multiple instances where it will not load in for 30+ minutes. Once you get in, you think “okay sweet I can navigate to everything I need”. Wrong. Now it will make you wait another 10 minutes to load the dashboard and if you swap to time and attendance, get ready to wait another 10 minutes. If you’re a business wanting to run payroll with this app, please pass and save yourself the headache. It’s not just me either with these loading issues, my whole crew has the same issues. App will make you update every week, yet it never gets fixed. I’d rate this -2 stars if i could.

4 stars??. Why it has 4 stars I have no idea. Im not sure whats going on but I went to the reviews to see if others had the same problem. They do, I cannot log into my account it doesn’t even load 95% of the time. I try 15min before work but it never works on wifi or Data. Its causing me to contact higher ups to put in my time on a daily basis which isn't practical for anyone. I just tried uninstalling it and installing it again and I cant even get the app back. When it comes to someones paycheck and hours you have to have a working app. Please fix this issue, it is giving so many people stress and frustrations.

Doesn't load most the time and no notif system. First off, this app has a terrible load up rate. 6/10 times opening trying to clock in/out/meal, the app refuses to load. This app has has caused such an issue, my manager has made a sheet for people to write missed time punches so he can fix the time clock. The second lesser issue; This is honestly the first and only clock in app I've experienced that has no sort of notification system, which is really weird and kind of off putting, as the notifications from previous apps were very useful and accommodating for my ADHD and irregular schedules (also how do so many people not know how to make cohesive stable schedules?).

Too many bugs. This application is constantly down for maintenance or plagued by some other issue. I have deleted and redownloaded the application many time, I have used this app for over a year and have had constant issues. Trying to have my employer change because none of us like this, when you try to talk to support you just sit there waiting for an agent for hours on end. There is not ETA for when the next agent will be available and I honestly don’t think they even have any agents that work there. If your an employer looking to get this save the headache and don’t, if you an employee I’m sorry and hopefully the employer swaps to another system soon

Love this app!!. I love Paychex Flex and especially the app! I've never seen an app for work that was this easy and user friendly. I work remotely and I use this app alot if I'm not at my desk and it is a dream. I have had to run payroll before while sitting in my car and trying to beat the clock to have it submitted in time for my staff to be paid on time. It was amazing!! I am able to easily submit every single piece of information for payroll and submit it with no issues. I frequently run reports and email to people or load on Dropbox. It's amazing!! Thank you for making my job easier!

This app wastes more time than it saves.. I can not say ANYTHING good about this app. I’d say it was a brick, but bricks are useful. This app might make things easier for people in the office working in payroll, but it is at the expense of the end user out in the field. Constant login and freezing issues. And the UI is so counterintuitive, it might as well be in a foreign language. The only training I’ve been able to find for this worthless app, is a PDF with some pictures and writing so small, it’s barely legible on a phone screen. You know what doesn’t crash or have log in issues? PAPER TIME CARDS!!! If I could take stars away from this app I would. There is absolutely no reason this steaming pile should be at 4.8 stars.

Unusable. My company switched over to this system a while ago. The online page works alright but this app is actually useless. I have, on more than one occasion, spent 20-30 minutes just trying to get it to log me in. The amount of time I get a “we seem to be having trouble right now” type of error message is innumerable. My position in the company has me on the go a lot and I don’t really have any other option other than to use this stupid app. If you get it works fine enough although the UI is clunky, needing to click 100 different buttons just to take a lunch, break, transfer, clock in, clock out, is crazy. Over all not a fan of the app and I am stuck using it.

I’m a little frustrated. I received an email from my work about Paychex. Unfortunately, I was busy with my daughter who has Autism and didn’t notice that there was a business and an employee app. I clicked on the business app instead of the employee app. Is there anything that I can do so I can get started? I really need my information to be deleted in the business app ASAP so I can start using the portal in the employee app.

unusable. My workplace used this app for about a year before switching over to something else. In the time we used it every single employee in my department had issues with it. It would clock us in or out for literally no reason at all, unapprove hours that were already approved, keep us clocked out for our lunches when we already clocked back in, as well as a myriad of other problems. It got to a point where most of our staff gave up on using it and just recorded their hours on paper and sent their hours to our supervisor at the end of every pay period to enter it manually. Not sure how it almost has 5 stars, it was completely useless for me and my coworkers.

like Nike, Just Do It! Get it you won’t Regret it.. Best work app when it comes to checking your Hours and it’s good to know how much you’ve made and Compare it with every other Check I get so I can see if Hard work actually pays off or not.. PayChex is the app actually it’s a Must Have for Those who are Employed and compensated legitimately. so if your reading this to see if you should get it, Get it now. Don’t waste anymore time with wondering if you should, you should. I Did and I Did it on my other Phones As well.

Terrible App. My company is making us employees use this terrible app for some reason, we had the original clock in/out system on the wall that worked perfectly fine. I tried logging into this app and it would just stay on the loading screen even with full bars signal and full bars on Wi-Fi. It won’t login me in so I can clock in. I’ve turned my phone off and back on multiple times and the same thing keeps happening, stuck on the loading screen. This has been an ongoing problem for the past 3 consecutive days so my manager recommended that I delete the app off my phone and re download. So I deleted it and now when I try to download it again. It’s stuck on the loading screen and won’t even download back onto my phone. I tried everything, Wi-Fi ,no Wi-Fi, turned phone off and back on, still stuck on the loading screen. Now I’m at the point where I can’t clock in for work or see my paystub or my schedule. Terrible app in my opinion. They need to fix it immediately. 0 out of 5 stars, but I can’t put 0 as a rating.

Worst App. I cant express how much I hate this app. It never wants to connect, I dont know how many times Ive had to uninstall and then reinstall this app just so I can sign in; which I have to do for any and all timeclock changes. Clock in? Sign in. Taking a Break? Sign in. Coming back from break? Sign in. Going to Lunch? Sign in. Coming back from lunch? Sign in. Another break? Sign in. Coming back from break? Sign in. Clocking out? Sign in. Is that tedious? Absolutely, but for some reason this app needs more security than a banking app. It takes so long to log into the stupid thing that Ill often miss my clock out time, and suddenly Im over time, so I have to go back and fix in after the fact. Not to mention it will on occassion just NOT log my timeclock change, or worse duplicate an entry, and then flag it like It was my fault. This app is THE worst thing ive ever been forced to use at my job and I am counting down the days until we either shift back to quickbooks, or they hire a better UI designer, because it is THAT awful.

Incapable of doing its only job. There is no way this app has 5 star ratings from real people. I have problems with it every single day and I know it isn’t just me from reading these reviews and talking to others at work. When I open the app, there is about a 50% chance that the app will even load to get into the clock in screen, and if it does load, there is a 50% (probably less) chance that the clock in actually works. Usually it just greys out like it’s about to clock me in and just doesn’t. So, I have to reset my phone over and over (because if it greys out and the clock in doesn’t actually work and you reset the app to try again, the app won’t load) until it luckily decides to finally work. Usually when I’m at work I just give up and use our walk up computer to clock in/out (which begs the question, why does it load up flawlessly on the company computer but can’t on the phone?). However, when I’m working from home I have to sit for 20-30 minutes resetting my phone repeatedly in hopes that one of those times the app will both load up and clock me in. I gave up after over 20 minutes today and had to email our office lady to clock me in and adjust my time. It’s ridiculous how much time gets wasted by this garbage app that can’t even perform its only task.

Fix it now. App has updated my maternal status now I’m single divorce because my wife thinks I have another family at my moneys going elsewhere my kids are mad at me because I can’t show them prove that I can’t afford to go take them out to eat at red lobster Texas roadhouse golden corral they’re mad at me because I could only afford Taco Bell please get this fixed see if I can reinstate my maternal status and my family thank you. 😂

Needs improvements. This app maybe good for employers. However for the employee this app needs many things improved on and I am very thankful I only have to use it for a few more weeks before I leave my current employer who uses this app. I have advised other business owners I know not to use this app due to its issues for the employee. App takes forever to open, even doing 2 factor and saying to remember the device about every other or every 3rd time you have to enter 2 factor again. Took a while to learn some of the functions of the app. Have used Homebase and Paycom would recommend both of those before this app.

Works 20% of the time. I’m so baffled on how this app has 4.8 stars. I’ve had the misfortune of having to use this app for the last two years and it continues to disappoint. The issue with this app is that it rarely opens or logs you in the first time. Meaning almost every day you have to close and open until it works. In a 5 day work week 1-2 days the app will without issue. Also, this is not a Wi-Fi or service issue as I’ve attempted with and without Wi-Fi and in different locations. In short the app usually functions fine IF you can login which you can consistently not do.

Plagued with issues. 2 Stars for ~usually~ making it easy to clock in and out. Other than that, the login load times are more often than not very long. With wifi or full LTE coverage it can easily take upwards of 5+ minutes. I have been stuck on the loading screen for an hour and 20 minutes before, and only after that amount of time did it finally time out. When clocking in and then closing the app and coming back to clock out later, the time often is not up to date and the home screen shows as if Im already clocked out. After clocking in our out, I often have to close the app and open it back up to make sure it took my clocking. Sometimes, it appears as it did not take it and then I press it again and suddenly there are 2 punches for the same thing. Once in the app, navigating through the tabs can also be a pain as the screen can take quite while to populate. It seems these issues became more prevalent once paychex time was merged with flex. Love the idea of the app, but still has many bug fixes to be worked out.

Update made this app useless. I used to love this app but... You guys updated your app, it prompted me to get the new one, so I tried, but my phone isn’t compatible with it. The apple store app says I can operate the older version of the paychex app, but when I try to open the older version of Paychex, it just prompts me to upgrade to the new version. So basically I’m in a cycle that I can’t get out of, due to your app “updates”. This is very inconvenient and you have made this app useless. I can’t see my paystubs or tax information. 😑

Amazing. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve needed paycheck stubs and had it become a headache....not to mention, I never wanted to switch to direct deposit (bc I like being able to see exactly how each check is broken down) and as result I had check stubs all over my car and in my house yet could never find the most recent 4 or whatever it was that I needed. (Enter headache) This app has made this small but sometimes important part of life so easy. Not only is it so easy to navigate, it’s easier than I ever would have imagined to view, email, print, etc PDF’s of any or all stubs dating back to the beginning of your employment. It also makes it super easy to see your direct deposit info 1-2 days before “pay day.” I wouldn’t delete this app for anything.

Positive reviews have to be bots. I have used paychex flex for work for over 3 years, and it is without qualification the worst application that sees heavy usage in a modern workplace. The UI for every piece of its engagement platform actually seem to be intentionally designed to be counterintuitive at every possible level. For instance, tapping my pay is not how you get to paycheck history, for that you need to go to the dashboard. Time and attendance? No pto tab there. All of this fails to communicate just how glitchy flex is. Every single week the app breaks. We actually have taken to calling it “getting paychexed” as a shorthand, it is just that common. As I write this, attempting to open the app results in it telling me I am using an outdated version and that it should be updated, with a button that takes me to the app store, where it confirms the app has already been updated. The app is so poorly designed that I can only assume that any positive review has been paid for, generated via AI, or as a consequence of the extraordinary luck of using the app once without immediately encountering a glitch.

Slow, unreliable, day to day hassle. This app is abysmal. Since my job starting using Paychex about 6 months ago, we’ve had nothing but issues, complaints and messed up pay checks. Every single day I try to login to clock in for work, the app doesn’t load. It’ll some times be hours later before I can punch in. I have to have my boss adjust my times DAILY because of how inefficient the app is. It’s not the location, I’ve tried punching it at home, at work, and on the way to work and no matter where I am, the app never loads. It’s an unnecessary headache everyday making sure my hours are actually correct. I have to use a different app to make sure my hours are correct and then have my boss adjust the hours accordingly in Paychex. A postcard sent across the Atlantic on the Nina, Pinta or Santa Maria would arrive quicker in Europe than the Paychex app will take to load

Worst app for this services, 2 minutes to load. I’ve been using this app since my company moved to it back in October 22’, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been late or had to rush to use desktop because it never loads. Cellular or wifi, it always does it. I update it and open it right away, sometimes it takes 2 whole minutes for the clock in icons to appear. It is easy to use when it decides to work but besides that, it’s not a reliable app at all. Their desktop version is good, I can’t say nothing bad about it.

Worst App- would rate 0 stars 👎. If it wasn’t required by my employer, I would never use this app. You seriously can’t do a single thing on here. I can’t even pick what security question to answer because it just doesn’t pick what you click on, it stays on the same question that I can’t answer. Majority of the security questions is about being married so if you’re single you can’t answer some questions so if it doesn’t change questions good luck. I can’t even report a problem because I can’t even see the text bar so I am typing blindly. This app is the worst thing in the world and if it gets removed forever I would genuinely be happy.

Absolutely Fantastic. This is hands down one of the most well designed apps I’ve used. My employer uses Paychex for their payroll management and this app takes Paychex ESS to the next level. Check your retirement plan details and change contribution amount, view your pay rate, hours, pay stubs, view and change your direct deposit account, and a bunch of other whatchamajigs. And what really makes it awesome is just how clean and intuitive the app itself is. I don’t write a lot of reviews but I’m genuinely impressed with the quality of this app and the Paychex platform, so they deserve my humble opinion and they’re gonna get it.

Face ID Gone?. This app is pretty easy to use- seems straightforward to me. I have no issues with it once I’m logged in. However, this morning Face ID wouldn’t work, and now there is no option to turn it back on. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and Face ID isn’t even listed when you go into the app settings to turn it on. Why did it all of a sudden just disappear? That was one of the biggest perks to using the app, for me. It’s really frustrating that it just disappeared completely after one failed attempt.

Retail clerk, cashier & stocker.. User friendly APP but I think the option that displays the day & time & the hours we had accumulated of the pay period/check in PDF format should be available for employees to see without request from the administrator. Employees need to see if any discrepancies or variances need be addressed from missed clock punches or oversights. This is personal record & having this option allows for review as a bank statement, credit card statement or receipt would for any financial transactions or exchanges where money is involved. This is a business industry standard to see what is being charged, debited or in this case, credited by payroll as a paper-trail of any edits to show good accountability and proper bookkeeping practices that can be in question if a employee has to refer to at later date. This needs not to be just a option or preference but rather a accessible personal record that provides ‘archived information’ not ‘by-request information.’ Thank you for providing the option for review of this APP Sincerely, -David J Baker-

Glitchy. When I went to set up my account, they asked me to select four security questions. I tried to select the questions that were relevant to me, but neither the website nor the app would let me select different questions. It was literally stuck/glitched on certain questions; and no matter how many times I tried to select a different option, it wouldn’t change to the option I was tapping on. So I had to literally write down every security question and write in a random password answer to it in order to actually be able to use this site. I can’t rely on my memory to easily answer these questions now because these questions have no relevance whatsoever.

honestly annoying customer support is really bad. it literally won’t let me create an account and there is no customer service or anything listed you have to GOOGLE IT and the number i called didn’t even have a person and didn’t help me at all. how am i supposed to get paid????? at least have ACTUAL customer support, not a robot giving you a list of more links to go to. and it’s really annoying how if anything happens on my phone if i slide down my notifications or check something for a second it kicks me out and clears all my information and i have to restart the app and enter it all over again. it’s been like well over 10 times.

Awesome for employers & employees. This app offers employers the ability to allow employees 24/7 access to their payroll information. Employees can update their personal information, view their check stubs, and if integrated with Time and Attendance...view & approve their time cards and process time off. One stop shop for employees. One central location for all payroll related items for employers. The fact everything is web based means no more coming into work on your day off to do things you can now do from anywhere. The app does look just a little different on different platforms, but overall works just the same.

Garnishment. If you’re an employee whose company uses Paychex, be aware—they are all about serving the employer, not the employees. If you run into issues, like I did with wage garnishment, don’t expect any help from them. They over-garnished my wages—taking out more than they were legally allowed—and then held the extra money for weeks before even beginning to process a refund. Worse, they absolutely refuse to speak with employees directly. You’re left in the dark, having to go through your employer for every question or concern, even when Paychex is the one responsible for the mistake. Their mobile app is another nightmare. It’s clunky, slow, and difficult to use. Good luck trying to find clear breakdowns of your pay or garnishment information. The app feels outdated and designed more for show than function. In short, Paychex prioritizes employers over employees, offers poor transparency, and provides a terrible user experience. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone who values fair treatment and timely payroll accuracy.

Mobile interface is trash. I have NEVER written a review for an app before, I simply dont feel the need 90% of the time...alas, I am required to use this app for work. The mobile interface is so broken, it fails to allow me to log in 9 out of 10 times I try. 7 of 10 times that it does let me login, it fails to load any of the pages I typically need to interact with. To the point where it has consistently been a better use of my time to launch a mobile hotspot, find my laptop, boot it up, and log out using the online portal. By the time I do all of that, the mobile app is still frozen or failing to load even just the dashboard. Please fix your mobile app, paychex. Its absolute trash.

SLOW even on the FASTEST phone in the world. This is a cool app with lots of features. But it is SLOW. I’m not sure what kind of data processing it uses, but every time our employees launch the app it seems to load all widgets from scratch. It is faster for our employees to just pull up the website, which renders this app useless. Querying the database to see which ‘widgets’ to load shouldn’t take that long- each user’s phone should have all widgets preloaded THEN check with the database. Seriously, feels clunky. The lag is so noticeable that it’s hard to tell when you’ve punched or not and we frequently get double punch errors because users have no way of knowing that their punch is ‘processing.’

Good app. It would be nice if UI was a little easier to navigate. Maybe a one press instead of multiple. Like instead of the three bars, one press to view your hours for a pay period or your paycheck as you build hours. Important things like your paycheck. I also don’t like when I view my hours for my shift, I work graveyard, I have to press the back arrow on the pay period date to make the app change the date from when the pay period starts to when it ends. It has a weird date thing where it’s between that to the current shift you’re working, when it should just show your company’s pay period start and end date for that pay period. Mine is the first of the month to the 15th for a paycheck on the 25th. Then from the 16th to the last day of the month for a paycheck on the 10th. If I work on the 8th, it’ll show the 3rd to the 8th. Why not just show the first to the 8th? Up to the day I’m on the clock? Instead of making me change the date? It should already know?

THIS. APP. SSUUUUUUUCKSSS. I would give less than one star if I could. My company has been using this for a few years now and it seems like as more time goes on the worse this app gets. First the app wasn’t bad, maybe mediocre? Now it’s constantly glitching and freezing on me upon initial login. It can sometimes take 5 minutes for the app to even log you in and even then after that it’ll be frozen and won’t let me clock in or out so I’ll have to close it out wait another five minutes to try and log in for the same thing to happen. After a certain point it’s easier for me to just have the admin clock me in, which is about 50% of my clock in/outs in a week. The app allows you to request time off, which is nice, but the amount of time off available that is displayed is wildly inaccurate. So with that being said you have to keep track of how much PTO you have left, not a big problem, but it’s just another thing about it that could REALLY use some improvement.

Unprofessional. The app isn’t just unprofessional it’s unusable I’ve been unable to clock in began meal or clock out stays stuck on load screen I can’t even injoy my lunch because on the off chance the stars align and I some how get to the dashboard of the app it task 15-30 minutes to do that no exaggeration my self and numerous other employees have the same issues I am glad my PM and superintendent use the app so they are more understanding I hope by writing this review it will be a warning to a small business or some contractor to invest into something else because this app isn’t worth the 4.8 stars it’s trying to pass on it really should not exist the developer needs to take it down and start from scratch IF I worked the same why this app works I would be fired also this isn’t my first review of this app posted one about a month ago never showed up so this maybe all for nothing

Awful. One of the worst apps I’ve ever used. Takes forever to load to the main screen. Most of the time you can’t even get in it because it refuses to load. I’ve thought maybe it was just my connection sometimes but it isn’t… considering all of my co-workers have the same exact issue.

Bug report-app automatically clocking in on launch. Hi there, I wanted to share some feedback about an issue I’ve been experiencing with the app. Recently, simply opening the app has been registering as a clock‑in, even when I’m not intending to start a shift. This has led to multiple false clock‑ins and unnecessary corrections on my timesheet. It would be extremely helpful if the app only clocked in when the user intentionally taps the clock‑in button, rather than triggering automatically on launch. Fixing this would prevent a lot of accidental entries and streamline the workflow for users. You will hate this app if you travel for work. I don’t know what it is about this app but it is the ONLY one on my phone that seems to never want to load at any given time. I hear rumors that if you change from wifi to data and different cell zones often that it makes the app behave this way. Well that is rather inconvenient for someone who travels for work wouldn’t you say? This app will make you extremely unpopular with whoever deals with the pay in your company. You will be messaging them daily with missed punches because the app just absolutely refused to load.

Typical SLOW OVERBURDENED forced app.. I don’t have a choice to use a different app thanks to my employer (who I love working for). But this app is forced and you can see the captured audience failures throughout the app. First, it’s just too big and tries to do to much. Typical IT (and HR) thing of shove it all in there! 15 pounds of potatoes in a 9 pound bag. . Fix the speed problem. Waiting to clock-in/out for minutes at a time creates errors, missed punches, etc. . HIGHLY recommend having time tracking be it’s own app still and that’s all it does. Do NOT REMOVE The other app. . Reduce the content. Not everything needs to be on an app. Something should just be left to computer viewing, not a mobile device. . Better organization of items. Grouping things better. Simpler formatting. Streamline and light weight info. . Downloadable information. To be printed and viewed on larger screens or printed.

I’m a little frustrated. I received an email from my work about Paychex. Unfortunately, I was busy with my daughter who has Autism and didn’t notice that there was a business and an employee app. I clicked on the business app instead of the employee app. Is there anything that I can do so I can get started? I really need my information to be deleted in the business app ASAP so I can start using the portal in the employee app.

Has lots of issues. I have to use this app to clock my work hours for my job. It’s a horrible app. It adds overtime when I don’t want it to, causing raises eyebrows among my colleagues. And recently it erased 8 hours of time I clocked in when the “clock out” button magically scrolled to the left, disappeared, and got replaced with the “clock in” button. When I pushed clock in again and checked my time card, the 8 hours I clocked were erased and all gone. I hate how I am forced to get this pay cut I don’t deserve and can’t afford thanks to you, evil Paychex flex and your horrible glitches! Shame on you!

Excruciatingly slow!. I don't know what the problem is but lately this app has been so very slow. So much so that I can't do anything on it anymore. Time and attendance is just blank and doesn't even show that it's loading. It's not my phone or my network as every other app works fine. You know something is wrong with your app when Facebook works better than your app. That's saying a LOT! I guess I'll just stop using the app on my phone and just use the website. This app is trash. Well, forget the website as well. Same thing is happening. Who is developing this app, Stevie Wonder?

So Easy and Convenient!!. I am thankful for this app. It makes it so easy to access information, such as paystubs, W2’s from previous years, 401K information including loan balances. Basically, anything I need to know about my payroll information and current or past pay periods to a certain date is right at my fingertips. Thank you for creating an app that is actually user friendly & makes sense. 😌

Super fast and easy. I love it due to the fact that I don’t have to call all the time to get pdf copy of my paystub it’s very convenient only thing is that I wish you could get assignments on there and possibly a little more detail of how much your getting paid on the paystub it does say but I have to do the math to figure out how much I got paid hourly

Face ID Gone?. This app is pretty easy to use- seems straightforward to me. I have no issues with it once I’m logged in. However, this morning Face ID wouldn’t work, and now there is no option to turn it back on. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and Face ID isn’t even listed when you go into the app settings to turn it on. Why did it all of a sudden just disappear? That was one of the biggest perks to using the app, for me. It’s really frustrating that it just disappeared completely after one failed attempt.

Terrible service. Our office started using this app and it has been a nightmare. We haven’t been able to get paid (all our team) we are not able to get in touch with any representative to help our office. We have people that need to get paid as are breadwinners of their homes, have dependents and this makes it so difficult for everyone. The chat box transferred me to a “person” and the person sounds like a AI, it is not able to communicate. It is extremely frustrating. All my previous employers used ADP and never had any issues. Cheap comes to a high price.

CAN’T LOG IN - UNUSEABLE. I used this app for months with no issues, and for the past 2 weeks I cannot log into my account. I’ve changed my password at least 20 times to get in and it NEVER recognizes my log in. I’ve spent 3 nights with the chat customer service and they all ask you to do the same thing and IT’S NOT WORKING!!! Don’t waste your time with them. I am so angry that I have personal financial information on this app and cannot access it. THE WORST PAYROLL APP EVER!! I will never recommend them and I am going to fight for the company I work for to drop them. Absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!

Gets worse as they add more stuff. We’re probably going to leave Paychex for a smaller, more simple payroll company. Things are getting too difficult to find on their convoluted site. I’d love to get my 2025 reports but they’re not where they used to be and their help bot doesn’t understand the question “where do I find my annual payroll reports”. The service has added too many things that it’s an impossible misuse to navigate. There are many reputable smaller payroll companies focused on payroll and not a million other things.

Terrible delays. The desktop app (when it works) is better than this. The program rarely ever starts and when it does takes 5-10 minutes to load on a brand new iPhone!!!! The worst part is I’ve had 3 instances where I’ve punched in on time, and the app takes so long to load the punch that not only will 5 minutes go by since I punched in, but it will register my punch at that 5 minute mark, so not only does this inaccurately takes my punch but then it looks bad on me that I’m depending on this, I’m uninstalling the app from my phone because it’s caused more headaches than anything…

Your employees will suffer. If you hate your employees, go head and use this app. This app is extremely slowly and seems to only work when you use a web browser. I have clocked in/out and gone to lunch, and the app has me so it more than twice. Being connected to strong WiFi does not matter because it’s still the same issue. Submitting a time change also an issue. The only pro which could be a pro for any other app is comparing your time stamps vs. your paychecks. Find a different app until this one fully develops.

Can’t log off. All these apps have super security login screens that mainly function to keep people out of their own accounts. What’s not very secure however is staying connected when you can’t log out of the app. I spent at least 10 minutes looking for the log off button before physically having to turn off my phone to log off. Every app developer needs to realize the most important functionality is logging off. The log off button needs to be available from every screen and menu and NEVER hidden. This app would be good if it had a log off button. It does NOT as far as I can tell.

Was good but now they’ve removed login with Face ID. I’ve used the app at my job for almost 2 years now and haven’t had many issues. Since I’ve started you’ve been able to use Face ID. Until now, which makes no sense to me and is a complete step backwards. It also logs me out everytime I leave the app now which it didn’t used to. Which makes having no Face ID that much more frustrating. Going through the reviews it also looks like it’s botted with a ton of 5 star reviews. Tons of reviews just 5 stars with the review making no sense.

Worst app ever. Anyone giving this app more than 1 star is a fake review. The app had issues when I was signing up through my employer. I did every requirement for the password and still could not sign up for weeks. Once I was able to create an account, it wouldn’t allow me to login stating my birthday and phone number were incorrect. After another week, it allowed me to sign in and now every time I try to open this app, it does not completely load. And I cannot see my paystubs on time. I’m currently trying to view my paystub, maybe it will work next week.

Slow, glitchy, crashes often. When it works it’s great, more than often, the app takes ages to load properly causing me to turn my phone on and off, take it in and out of airplane mode, closing my apps and repeating. Punching out for lunch is a 5minute ordeal both ways, the app crashes after you are idle for 10 minutes or aren’t actively using it, going back to it will show the app still running but once you try to do anything it will freeze and inevitably crash, without fail every time. As an employee using this app, I dread it.

Constant delay and freezes. App works great and has a lot of features but clocking in and out is a nightmare!! The simplest feature on the app is glitchy about 90% of the time. I almost always have to force quit the app 2 or 3 times to get a clock in/out to stick. Because of this it usually takes about 4 mins to clock in/out and affects my working hours. I have updated the app, my phone, tried WiFi/cell, cleared cache, less busy time of day everything I can think of and still have the same result.

Horrible. At the beginning when my company got this app for us it was great past few months I been bad take forever to load is on maintenance every night me thinking staff is getting fix with WiFi or with out still take forever to load I’m trying to login sometimes takes about 2 minutes I’m not allow to clock in early has to be right on the dot plus sent me the text message to verified I have the text message even before I can type in and hasn’t even login yet I been clocking in late because of this

Slow & buggy trash. For an app that’s used to help people keep their time logged, this app is hot garbage.. Let me elaborate. It sporadically logs you out and requires a text message verification, even though this is the only device I use. It can take up to a whole minute to actually load, so what should take 10 seconds (opening app and tapping a button) actually takes me 2 minutes since I now expect the app to be slow or malfunction. Sometimes you think you’ve pressed a button like clock in/out, but the app doesn’t actually register it. The app gives you multiple error messages. Do BETTER.

Don’t use it.. I’ve been trying for about a month now to just setup my account but the app keeps telling me that an error has occurred and I should come back later. Well, I come back later multiple times and still nothing. I contacted support and they just told me to keep trying it. You would think after a month or even longer now it would work? Nope, not on this app. Don’t use it.

Unreliable. I’ve been using this app for over 2 years and for the most part, it’s dysfunctional. Often it doesn’t completely open preventing me from punching in. Other times, it will open after 3 to 4 minutes which is a ridiculous amount of time. The app constantly needs to be updated which will prevent the app from being used at all until the update is completed (no “update later” feature. I mean, if you’re not in a hurry or just need to check a stub or request a day off, I guess it works for that. I only use it because our company picked it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t bother.

Just ok. It does what you need it to do, but only when it feels like it. Oftentimes it loads agonizingly slow and there have been countless days when maintenance or other issues have prevented me from clocking in or out. An easy fix would be to add an offline mode so that you can still keep track of your time. The user interface is also not particularly intuitive. You get used to it, of course, but it just feels like not a lot of thought went into navigating the menus or creating a pleasant experience.

Doesn’t work half the time. My app is up-to-date and the app doesn’t work half the time. One time it showed I clocked out, but then the next day showed I didn’t clock out at all. My main problem, however, is that it either takes a couple minutes to load or doesn’t fully load the app at all. This is regardless of if I’m using data or connected to a strong WiFi connection. So countless times I’m “late” because I can’t get the app to fully load the page so I can clock in. While other apps load and work just fine during the same time that this one won’t work.

I love getting paid!. I work hard for my money! I love seeing what my hard work made for me ahead of time. I can finance better. I can budget. I can save. I can have the full scope of what’s ahead of me. And plan accordingly. And I provide for my family. I love my job! Best job I ever had. And I’m about to work even harder in 2024! Seeing this paystub made my day!

Find a different app. This app takes forever to load every single time i go to open it, it genuinely takes over 5 minutes to even log in or there is some type of error it’s so inconvenient. I shouldn’t have to wait five ever just to open it especially when i need it for work. Please use this app if you love wasting your time and have patience. I’m not really sure why it has such a high rating when half the reviews can’t even get into the app half of the time, and the customer service isn’t helpful either.. if you’re thinking of using this app for your employees please find something else

Completely Inept. Stay far away, this company has terrible customer service, they will “lock you in“ with rates and sneakily increase them after a year so watch out for that. Not only that when you need help, their customer service is awful. If you get someone on the phone, they are unable to help usually and when you’re supposed to call back to get Assistance it will be days before hearing from them sometimes and they will email Back-and-forth for something that could’ve been taken care of with the phone call.

Wish it wasn’t a make work enterprise. Take something that wasn’t broke and fix it,, now it is a bit totally personnel intensive, hold your hand for every little thing, can’t use a mobile platform, ( we need access to your home computer, and we know you are not at home when we are in our office, so you rarely can bother us) big brother like intrusive enterprise to put more behinds in chairs doing little productive work so someone can sit in a bigger chair doing even less work managing little chairs.

Great, when it works. This app is unbelievably glitchy. It works maybe 60% of the time; the rest of the time, it won’t load past the login screen (either with Face ID or with a manually-input password) or it loads but then is stuck on a half-loaded dashboard. When it does work, the Time and Attendance feature for employees is very user-friendly and easy to navigate, though, as are the other employee features. The UI for admin is not a lot of use; functionality is significantly limited and most functions can only be performed from a PC.

Recent updates have made this app terrible. My company uses this app and for the last 4 years I haven’t really had any issues. Since the most recent couple of updates, there’s a lag to the app now where you have to press multiple times the same button in order to transfer from travel to service, the app sometimes doesn’t register and I’ll have to open and close the app multiple times to get it to work properly, and just overall it feels like you guys went backwards with your app. Please fix and please understand how frustrating this is. PLEASE FIX YOUR APP!!!!

Works 20% of the time. I’m so baffled on how this app has 4.8 stars. I’ve had the misfortune of having to use this app for the last two years and it continues to disappoint. The issue with this app is that it rarely opens or logs you in the first time. Meaning almost every day you have to close and open until it works. In a 5 day work week 1-2 days the app will without issue. Also, this is not a Wi-Fi or service issue as I’ve attempted with and without Wi-Fi and in different locations. In short the app usually functions fine IF you can login which you can consistently not do.

Fix it now. App has updated my maternal status now I’m single divorce because my wife thinks I have another family at my moneys going elsewhere my kids are mad at me because I can’t show them prove that I can’t afford to go take them out to eat at red lobster Texas roadhouse golden corral they’re mad at me because I could only afford Taco Bell please get this fixed see if I can reinstate my maternal status and my family thank you. 😂

App stinks/many features not working. When I first started using this app a year ago I loved it, I found it easy to navigate and had zero issues. Unfortunately, with every update or tweak it seems to get worse. Currently I can no longer view messages within the app or send them. I know I currently have a new message but it does not let me click to see it. I also can no longer navigate to previous weeks to see my hours unless I know the right date frame for that week and type it in. I miss the old version of the app it was much more user friendly and was not constantly filled with issues.

I’m a new employee for Valvoline. I’m very unsatisfied because I went through this trouble to try to log into my account and now all of a sudden I’m getting a load error and I can’t even get into the account I just started. I was looking to see if there was a way I can contact you guys easy for Support but I can’t seem to do that so I’ll just leave this review. I’ll change my STARZ when you make the app better you should have it directly through the app not connected to some external website.

surprisingly bad. i’ve been using this app for TWO days. it takes 3+ minutes to log in and every time i switch to a different screen or tap on a button it takes several seconds to “catch up” to my action. this is the worst app i’ve had to use for any job i’ve had ever had. every time i try to do my training via the app it redirects me to a blank screen, makes me log into the app WHILE ALREADY IN THE APP, and then gives me an error screen after i have to send and re-send verification codes multiple times. ridiculous

Seriously broken UI. The last thing you want a broken UI for is the app that you rely on to get paid. As a person who WORKS in tech, I had to sign up multiple times before my selections actually took. My security questions are a garbled mess, because the app reverts back to the default questions after you put in an answer. Don’t have a spouse? Too bad. Their name is now the street you grew up on. I’m horrified by how broken this app is, and my only hope is that it’s automated enough that my organization will pay me on time and that I can trust their entries.

Was GREAT until I called customer service. Was happy that our company changed over to Paychex Flex until I needed to call customer service! I have never talked to someone so rude in my life, plus she did not even try to help me with my problem! Went straight to blaming my company for the issue I was having! Ultimately it was PAYCHEX FLEXS problem! Thanks for making this harder then it should have been! I gave two stars because you guys have potential but customer service can ruin a company just as fast as the money can!

Parts department. I personally have had nothing but good experiences with Paychex from day one, I appreciate being able to check my account and see, what I have, , I would like to see my time as I go, like I used to be able to do with the time clock, although I could never see my history on the time clock and I really appreciate that, Thank You

Unbelievably bad. The app is absolutely useless at times. If there is no cell service or Wi-Fi, the app won’t open to register your time. Not everyone goes to work in a building with internet! How hard would it be to have the app open and record your time, then when you reach an area with cell coverage it could register your time. The app developer should be fired for such a horrible oversight. Shame on Paychex for using such a horrible system. I would recommend going back to paper timesheets over this. Better yet try some other payroll company.

No one will help!. My flex spending account has money in it but every transaction has been declined! I have talked to three different people in three days and all three have either said a supervisor will call me back, they will fix the situation or they will put a supervisor on the phone and none of the above has happened. What good does having money in my account do when I can’t get my prescriptions! I’m running out of my medications. I even switched pharmacies since they said the original pharmacy was out of Network! I will keep posting negative reviews daily until my problem is fixed!

App is slow. We have geofencing set up where I work so that you can clock in from the app. The problem is that as of late, the app just won’t load for whatever reason. It is something everyone in the company has said. And it is experienced with multiple cell carriers and phone manufacturers. It forces you to go find a computer to clock in. Very inconvenient when you utilize a company because they have a very specific feature that you need but it then doesn’t work.

S-L-O-W-E-S-T app ever. I have been using this app for nearly three years. It is what my employer requires us to use. This app takes FOREVER to open. 3,4,5…10 minutes. And that’s just to get the app loaded. Try clicking on time detail so you can go to a pay period and see your punches… better pack a picnic. Want use the help tab? I hope you have 20 minutes… I honestly don’t know why I still have it on my phone. It just infuriates me each time I try to get information…Oh right because it’s how I get my tax information… yeah filing my taxes normally takes me about as long as getting my 1044 from the app… it’s a real joy each tax season.

Not sure what to think…. So this app is for employers and employees. Probably for more but my point is, the labor laws in this country vary, but most states allow for 14-16 year olds to work with parental consent. From my understanding child labor is still considered illegal in the USA, why is this application recommended to anyone over the age of 4. What 4 year old is working and using Paychex? Please help me out here

4 stars??. Why it has 4 stars I have no idea. Im not sure whats going on but I went to the reviews to see if others had the same problem. They do, I cannot log into my account it doesn’t even load 95% of the time. I try 15min before work but it never works on wifi or Data. Its causing me to contact higher ups to put in my time on a daily basis which isn't practical for anyone. I just tried uninstalling it and installing it again and I cant even get the app back. When it comes to someones paycheck and hours you have to have a working app. Please fix this issue, it is giving so many people stress and frustrations.

Pay stubs not showing. Recently the app has been updated but now this time my pay stubs are not showing at all. All my screen shows me is my birthday and my anniversary date with the company I work with. Before the update I never had any issues. I always got to see my pay stubs now I have no issue what happened. Can someone please fix this? I even contacted my company to see if it was something on their side and it showed I was submitted and nothing changed.

Longest log in time of any app I’ve used. This app takes SO LONG to load, I have to be ready to clock in about ten minutes before my shift when I use this app, because it takes forever to load. Instead of letting this app make me late I will intentionally load it as early as possible because it just sits there trying to get you logged in for so long. Also they seem to constantly be doing maintenance but the load time never gets better. It’s super inconvenient, this problem also persists online if you try to log into their website.

Doesn’t work. This app doesn’t work. At all. I haven’t been able to use it in over a month due to it just constantly trying to load but never actually loading. I have tried many different connections and never have a connection problem with other apps, so I know it’s not on my end. There’s not even a way to report an issue with the app, only the option to report fraud, abuse or a scam. Waste of space on my phone and the developers obviously don’t care to fix it if there’s no way to report issues with the app.

Don’t even bother. Can’t even make an account, says any information you enter for your own zip codes is incorrect, there for you can’t proceed, meaning you can’t even create an account. Agents are literally no help either no matter how many times I explained the situation saying I don’t have an account on file because it won’t allow to make one, and that’s what I need assistance with, only for them to waste your time for about 20 minutes then give you the same reply and instantly disconnect you. Better off just accepting your paper checks, this app is ridiculously useless.
