Don’t Bother. Added the app to my phone after renewing a subscription to the paper. Shortly thereafter, I began to receive notifications pertaining to breaking news. However, when I followed up and tried to read about these stories, the app indicated they were for subscribers only. Found the Already Subscriber/Restore Purchase link at the bottom of the app home page but it did nothing. At try the add for the print edition but this one isn’t any good.

Crashes. App crashes immediately after opening.

Terrible customer service,. I have been a hard copy subscriber for over 20 years. I have used the app in the past as part of my subscription. Though content is not always updated I have enjoyed being able to see the news while traveling. Since the last update, I can not log in to access the app. Have sent multiple messages inquiring for help and 0 response. Time to cancel my at home delivery.

Rip off. Thank you for letting me know ahead of time not to pay for a subscription and then decide to cancel & they charge you anyway.

Greenville News - Awful App. Every time I tried to read the Greenville News I was told I wasn’t a subscriber. I’d login ‘again’ and could read one article before being told to login or subscribe. Now, I’m trying to cancel my subscribe-line and you cannot cancel. I can sign up on-line, change my method of payment on-line, but can’t cancel. How foolish. I called the office to cancel and you can’t do that on Saturday because the office is closed. The app should allow subscribers to cancel a subscription as easy as you can open a subscription. Bad app and service. Don’t subscribe.

Local news. Great app. Easy to navigate and read.

A really poor application. Of the apps that I use regularly this one is the most amateur. It’s difficult to imagine that Gannett would let their users look at their products with this. It’s likely evidence that they don’t even read the paper. The pop up ads, the freezing of the app, the failure to be able to render simple things like bullet points, shrinking all of the pictures, etc. It’s really that bad.

Load of crap. They took a perfectly good app and made it it completely useless! The e-newspaper (which was the idea of the app) won’t load. May be cancelling my subscription VERY soon! Don’t waste your time!

Unusable in ios14. Apple got the Greenville News on this one. I will still support the news team by reading on other platforms but the developers need to fix the app right quick.

Weird. Weird to start with but slowly getting the hang of it. Don’t really like the mail delivery method.

Great Resource. I like the more specific stories related to the community in which I live.

bring back the G News Print edition app. The ads that pop up every time I go back to a page I have already viewed in the enewspaper make ne dislike this, I already pay a subscription for the pitiful amount of LOCAL content, and mainly keep it so I can read the comics. You stopped delivering an actual paper to my house in 2017 and this does not replace it. I get a bunch of USA Today articles and you keep repeating articles from day to day, I can only assume it’s because you have very few reporters in our area and there’s not enough content to make an actual paper. If I can find another source for the comics, I will likely discontinue my subscription to this and the Anderson Independent which i has less even less local content. I doubt any of the Gannett execs or stockholders will care, but at least I feel better.

Loads too slow. The Greenville News app loads too slowly. Local news stories are not update frequently enough. Some remain as headlines for many days. Surely there is fresh local news. After logging in still told I have reached my limit of so called free articles. Considering canceling this app not sur it is worth the $10. Was print subscriber for decades. Print GNews became days old news by the time it was delivered. Cancelled it months ago. Get your act together with fresh local news. Make Greenville News truly a local paper once again.

Review of on-line. Too much repetition of old stories. At least the stories should be sorted top to bottom by age.

Jack Mitchell. This is absolutely the worst app for an iPhone or iPad. On the iPhone it will not rotate so it’s impossible to read the newspaper and on the iPad, it jumps, stutters or/and freezes. It’s very frustrating to use. The old Greenville. News Print Edition app was much better.

Ok app; awful “newspaper”. The app is just the presentation of ads & clickbait that we expect from a Gannett property. It forgets who you are and repeatedly demands you buy a subscription when you already have one. The “newspaper” should be free. That is the value of the news and information it includes. $0.

Greenville Newspaper. Like it for local news

Unethical - no easy cancellation. as far as I can see there is no easy way to cancel your subscription. This is a dishonest and unethical way to run a business. When I do find out I will certainly go through the process.

No way to stop billing. There is no way to cancel your subscription or remove credit card information in the app once you subscribe. Repeated attempts to cancel subscription with customer service have gone unresolved. And unrelated to the app they also charge $5 extra for special editions. I am still not sure what these are, but $5 can be added to the subscription price weekly doubling the subscription price. Buyer beware- the paper is good but lack of customer service and functionality in the app could force you to pay for the paper in perpetuity.

Terrible app. If I could I would give it NO stars but I have to give one to post. The app before this one worked great. I do believe my subscription to Greenville News is around $12 a month and it seems hardly worth it to pay that because of this terrible app. I am considering canceling.

Rip Off. They auto bill you without notification. They claim that auto renewal can be turned off yet there is no such button. After 10 minutes on phone hold they will not refund full subscription price which went up 150% since last year. Beware of this paper and possibly all Gannet papers if this is how they work.

Great news app. Reliable, informative, easy to use

Too many pop up adds, poor interface for zooming. I prefer the “print edition” version of the Greenville News app which I’ve been using for years but does not seem to be working. This app while it has the eNewspaper is much worse with pop ups and zooming in on anything is stilted and not smooth like it was in the “ print” app

Biased Garbage. The GreenvilleNews has become a pathetic excuse for journalism. It is pure opinion that doesn’t even pretend to masquerade as objective journalism. Articles present only the author’s perspective as if it were gospel. I wish my account hadn’t auto-renewed because they don’t deserve my money.

Horrible. The previous version worked well, this does not. Archive is gone. Search is worthless. Bring back the old version

Worst news app I’ve ever seen. Was on the wire as to subscribing. I took the dollar a month for 6. Glad I did, the app is garbage, if you need news go elsewhere. I still subscribe to the AJC for 3.99 and it is a leap better than this. Don’t waste your money, you can get their content on Facebook

Pop ups. Why am I now getting pop ups on this paid subscription? Can I revert this awful update?

Obits. All is good but the obits. Double names many times. Since we have grown so much I would like to suggest Names be followed by occupation. Example. John Smith: Painter We have many people here with same names. Sometimes We miss a death because of this. Shirley Henderson Rainey

Waste of time. In the past ANY subscription to The Greenville News included Greenville Online as part of your subscription . Apparently this has changed but it is “that Greenville “. Wish you could put 0 stars .

Paid for but can’t read articles. I paid for this publication and bought an entire year. Recently I can’t read articles as it prompts me that it is for subscribers only (I’m still well within my term).

Community Journalism We'll Done!. As a former photojournalist for numerous newspapers throughout thebnidwest and east coast, a career change will be bringing me to the area. I have found the journalism produced at this newspaper to be of the highest standard and quality since I've subscribed in early summer 2020. Efforts made by this paper to connect the community and to inspire have been genuine, thought provoking and sometimes tear-jerking. Thank you for teaching me about my future home.

NEW APP. This app is harder to navigate. It does not show in full screen. I have to move up and down to view it. Trying to print anything, particularly the puzzles, requires too many steps. The PDF file to print is very small!

Hard to use. I find this new app to be very hard to use. I like to send news articles to my messages to read later. It is extremely difficult to do that with this new app, but very easy to do with the old one. If it does not improve, I will no longer subscribe to the GreenvilleNews.

Locks up since the update. The app updated a few weeks ago. Since then, advertisements pop up automatically and the app locks up in the middle of scrolling through and reading articles.

Frustration. I have taken this paper for a long time and trying to hang in there. One great frustration is seeing an article in the paper and then wanting to share online and it is nowhere to be seen. Especially the USA Today articles that come from other newspapers. So I really find in this day and age that the newspaper is just becoming “old news” for those of us trying to support the tradition.

An after thought. Doesn't look like the morning paper. When navigating among "sections" stories are often VERY old and not obviously so dated. You can find today's articles if you look, but for an "e" paper, not well done at all

Disappointed. Something has changed with Daily Brief

Where’s the print edition?. I much prefer the “old” print edition app which is no longer available. It was much easier to navigate. Unfortunately I misread the pop up this morning indicating a “full news” app thinking it was a normal update. I understand that you’re trying to be relevant in a digital age by vectoring readers to the latest news online vis-a-vis the print edition, but some of us just want to see a facsimile of the newspaper! If your bean counters and IT people could see fit, give your subscribers a choice: make the print addition app available or provide an option to revert from full news to print.

A step back. I used to use the eNewspaper app and was very comfortable with it. I was encouraged by continuous messages to update to this newer app that includes breaking news, etc. It has really messed up the reading of the eNewspaper. For instance there is no way that I have found to enlarge text or zoom content on the right side when you select an article that you wish to read. This was never an issue in the old app. I don’t know why companies keep taking away valuable features for those of us with older eyes to make things “better”. In this case “better” seems to be the displaying of ads which did not even appear in the Newspaper itself and are hard to close and don’t help the experience at all.

Piece of Crap - Part 2. My Greenville News Print Edition app used to go straight to the print edition format of the news. Great. Then an annoying pop-screen started appearing whenever I accessed the Print Edition App. I contacted Greenville News tech support to eliminate this, the “tech” instructed me to delete and reinstall the Print Edition app. I did, but this piece of crap is all I could download. The Greenville News Print Edition app is gone, I guess for good. I’m going to give the News & Courier Greenville edition a try. Part 2: The “new” app struck me as low resolution when I finally accessed the slow loading “print edition”. That was after I figured out how to delete the frequent pop-up ads. Then I got to the puzzles - THE RESOLUTION WAS SO LOW AS TO MAKE THEM USELESS. This is progress?

More positive news of the African American community is greatly needed. There is a lack of positive news about the African American citizens of the community in the newspaper.

Great news team, ok app.. I’m sure the app will get better, with time. Honestly, it’s fine, but could use more real-time updates. No reason not to download it, for sure. But it’s not “There’s an app for that!” worthy.

Very bad. The new app is a pain. It is jumpy, awkward, difficult to enlarge without it going bonkers—jumping to another page or not responding at all. I tried to enlarge the comic strip “FoxTrot” to make it readable on my iPad Air 4 and every time it went bonkers. Bring back the old app until you get the bugs out of the new version.

Greenviile News. Love the Greenville News. They could improve by covering the Georgia Bulldogs more and not being so right wing. I do enjoy reading the newspaper and it is a great mid size city paper

Great local news App. Great source for local Upstate news. App is easy to navigate. The news alerts are good and draw me in, but not frequent enough.

Huge improvement. This version is a huge improvement over the previous version. Stories are easy to navigate, content is refreshed regularly and it lets you pull stories from other papers in the Gannett family.

Difficulties locating articles. It can be difficult to locate specific articles that are in the print version. Often the search feature is of no help.

Not enough real news here. I loaded this app hoping that it would be a reasonable alternative to accessing this newspaper via my computer. Not so, at least not right now. As of this moment, there are only 4 stories available in Latest News and News, while there are 10 (count 'em, 10) stories in the Sports section and 8 in the Business section. I realize that this is a new service and that some kinks have to be worked out, but if you can't assure reasonable access to ALL news and not just local sports and business news, it's not going to be viable.

Great newspaper!!!. Always has national and international coverage including articles from USA TODAY. Local coverage is insightful and balanced. Editorial staff is as good as it gets.

Bring iPhone 6 screen resolution support. This app could look a lot better with improved iPhone 6 and 6+ support.

Get notifications when you need them. The only thing I Dislike about the Greenville News is that they don't moderate the comments enough, you have people spewing hate red and no disregard for the victims families, as far as the app it's good.

Notifications. I have only breaking news notifications enabled but I still get news about sports scores several times a day. It's super annoying.

Awful print option. The old print edition app was perfect and this one is awful.

Not very impressive. I was hoping for what was happening in my town but I found only 3 or 4 stories and the rest was advertisements.

Confusing. Not a fan of this app. It is confusing and difficult to navigate.

Pretty Good. I had to select business a couple of times before it would pull down the stories, but otherwise it works fine. It's not perfect, but it is functional.
