Paid subscription has ads. I just downloaded the app. I have a paid subscription. The app is covered in ads. Even worse, many ads are pop-up ads in the app. I haven’t seen pop-up ads in an app in a long time. And the fact that I pay for this account and they still disrespect me by testing my time and patience with non-stop annoyances - it’s rude.

Great local news. In an age when it is harder to get local news, this source delivers. Do I wish is was larger staffed, etc.? Sure. But they do the job with what they have.

Too repetitive. This is a pretty good app but is very repetitive. It needs more up-date stories instead of repeating older ones to fill space

Sign In Issues. Paid but can not sign in. Rip off.

Horrible. I signed up and I have been locked out for a week. The help center appears to be in a foreign country and they blew me off despite the fact that I paid for a subscription. What a fraud

Keeping an eye on local news. Good government requires checks and balances. The Record is my go to source for important stories and insights impacting northern NJ.

The Bergen Record. I grew up in Bergen County reading The Bergen Record on a daily basis. I moved to a different part of NJ where the Record isn’t available. Now I can read it online which makes me feel like I am home again.

Not good anymore. Used to be a great app but no more. It will not let me read any stories. I actually get the paper and the app is not included. Very disappointing. Have watched the quality of the record decline over the years.

Begging for ratings. Ignores the setting about not asking for ratings and asks anyway. So, here's your rating.

Garbage. Horrible left wing trash. Pop ups are excruciating. Forget it!!!

Crashes immediately under iPadOS 14. Needs to be updated ASAP, I will upgrade my rating based on the speed of your response.

New subscriber...frustration. Took my money but still can’t access the app. A number of links are not working.

Stinks. It’s always broken and I have to delete it and reinstall it every day to make it work.

Worthless. I am not paying for this news and neither should you. Everything in this news app is available for free online ... EVERYTHING... maybe people are paying for this ... good luck as I am deleting this app right after writing this review.

Hard to use. I pay and I am somehow in wrong place and I amAsked to be a subscriber but I am. App hard to use always confusing. Not like reading a paper

How about you stop making. It so difficult to cancel a subscription. It’s beyond ridiculous that I have to physically call you to cancel a digital subscription.

North jersey news is the best. This apps one of the best ever to have one of the best on the market.

Margins beyond iPhone screen. Too many articles reach beyond the iPhone screen margins. Changing the font size does NOT correct the issue. This renders articles too ‘chopped up’ to properly read. The left and right side margins are cut off. Please investigate and fix in your next update.

No longer any free access to articles. Worthless app unless you buy their subscription. You used to get all articles free. Then it was 100 a month. Then it was 30 a month. Now since 1/1 it has told me I have exceeded the monthly limit. The other day I actually got to read one full article. So I’ve read a whole total of one article this month. Do your advertisers know this?

Great for Local Info and Updates. The Best "Little" News Platform that I've Ever Read. Great for Northern New Jersey Local Info and Updates.

Hard. Really hard just to sign in & prove i have a paid subscription

Hate the auto play ads, makes the site intolerable. Both the app and the website have auto-play videos that run every time you select an article to read. It is horribly annoying. I prefer to get my news elsewhere.

Horrible!!. This app is the worst!! Signing in is impossible and if you’re lucky to get in, most of the time, when you try to return, you’ve been signed out and the frustration starts again. FIX IT!!!

Limited features. Cannot put print subscription on hold via app. What’s the point of signing into account if you can’t make updates to account?

Informative for local news.. It keeps you up to date on local news and sports.

The BERGEN record. The loss of the BERGEN record on line has been changed my Need to read a newspaper. You don’t have obituaries only repeats of the past year No reasons to try and find local news you continue to repeat the same stories your local news, sports, weather,lottery,are terrible The Record was a great local and all news paper why would anyone want your on line news your going the same way as the New York Times another loser

Does not work when logged into the subscription. I attempt to log into my subscription and I have not been successful yet. I obtained a subscription about a couple of weeks ago. Free articles work without a problem.

I miss my home. Left Paterson a few years back. This app helps me stay connected to the 973 all the way up here in New Hampshire. Great App!!!

Relevant local articles delivered at its best. Been a subscriber for years and the local news are latest that you couldn’t find elsewhere. Covid related news locally are also covered well.

Do not pay this app for a subscription.. This is not the Herald News local Passaic county stories. This is an app that has late local news typically from Bergen county. My father subscribes to the print edition that’s delivered daily. The print version is somewhat more current than the app. If you want to view obituaries; forget it. There are no local funeral/viewing announcements. If you are looking for the help wanted and public announcement sections; forget about it. This app is not the way to get hyper local news that’s updated continuously.

It isn’t worth the space it takes. Before the Record was sold to Gannett, it was a convenient way to catch local news. You could read 100 articles a month. Now you can’t read most because they are for subscribers only, and you can read ten truncated stories. After that, you can see headlines and less than a paragraph usually designed to tell you nothing. The content is barely local anymore, since the axing of most of the local staff. You will do better with any of the news streaming apps, even if all of them are biased and out of New Jersey. Deleting this off my phone after decades of being a loyal subscriber. The Record turned its back on NJ.

No way to sign into subscription. App is useless. The app wants me to sign in to see subscriber content, but the sign in link is an endless loop that just brings me to their home page with no link anywhere to sign in. After wasting time, there is no place to sign in. Alas, no access to content I have paid for.

Used to be free. The stories on this app used to be free. Now you have to subscribe to read the stories...I can go online and read them for free so why charge now??

Good app. Good functionality on the app. It makes it easier to read the news.

Horrible. I see the same news every day... can’t find national or international news... can’t even find local obituaries unless the person was famous. I’m sorry I ever signed up for this app but they started charging so much for their delivered paper I don’t have a choice.. stick with the free news on the internet. I thought I would be getting so much more locally but I guess its just USA Today crosses out and replaced with the Record

Love digital newspaper. As a reader of The Record in north NJ for many years, I love the digital version. Although since being taken over by USA Today, the quality has gone way downhill with lots of typos and crappy editing. Also why no coverage of New Jersey’s only professional sports team, the NJ Devils? This stinks.

“Subscribe to keep reading”. I’ve been using the app religiously for months. They offered 1,000 free article a month. Now I have “reached my limit for the month”. What Bull is that? They don’t even provide the actual number we are allowed? Forget it now. Turn away.

Where is crossword page?. How can I access the puzzles and lifestyle section ?

Nagging About Notifications. Even during the setuo process this app wants me to turn on notifications as I choose topics I care about. Get over yourself. You’re not that important.

Dirty jersey at its finest!!. After using this app for a little while. Now there constantly asking me $$$. To be able to continue reading. Not happy!!!! With advertisements!! And adds. Now they want $$$ to continue to read. Dirty Jersey!! I just can’t with Jersey!! Deleting ASSP!!

Paper covers up corruption. Never Reports anything about rampant judicial corruption

Sir. Ever since the upgrade to iOS 8 you cannot return to where you were in the main story list after reading a story. You have to return back to the top of the list and scroll thru every story again until you get to where you were. This is in essence reading a story on page 15 of a hard copy paper and when done flipping back to the 1st page before thumbing to page 16.

The app keeps crashing for me. Right now the app is having a hard time loading needs a update keeps crashing for me right now. Send help for the help to fix the app now

Reviewer. Terrible app. Agree with all the criticism. Too many good features were removed. A giant step backwards.

Updated app is a MAJOR improvement. Northjersey's upgraded app (version 2.0) is a huge improvement that truly makes the app useful as a tool to read content from the newspaper.

App needs update!!. Not compatible with Apple iOS 14. As of Sept 17, 2020 hasn’t worked.

Terrible. This news app is terrible. Another world class production by The Record. The app is unstable and constantly crashes. This has been an ongoing issue and considering there is little visible proof that they have tried to address these issues goes to show you how much they care about their readers and customers. Anyone who subscribes to the Record knows it's a rag. Unfortunately their attempt at an electronic version is just as poor a product.

Needs an update or something. Sometimes says, "No new stories" - which is ridiculous..then when it does show me the new story and I tap on it- the whole app closes. I've reloaded the app three times.. I'm done.

A long-awaited update. Finally! Nav works great. Sharing is useful. I really like how you always end up exactly where you were on the page when you go back. Thank you for addressing all of the issues and listening to feedback. This app is now my "go-to" for North Jersey news.

Marginally Functional. You can get news about half of the time. Most commonly, the main stories are unavailable or don't update for some reason, and the app quits when loading some stories. No support for saving fav towns in the local section. Pretty poor app, even for a freebie. Better off with the paper version of this publication.

Improved navigation but more is needed. There is now a visible "back" button. But clicking it does not take me back to my previous location. Instead, I go back to the very top of the list of stories. And I must scroll all the way down to where I was.

Ok. I am not able to limit my "news area" to my local area. TBH I couldn't care less about mayoral elections in Bergen County (etc) but there's no way to limit content to my nearby area.

Just like web site. This App has the same look as going to the bergen record site on my phone. Either one has the same news so whichever is ok. Usually new stuff shows up every hour or two. Doesn't stay the same all day long.

Terrible app!. I can never get on this app !!

Excellent news but difficult to read. The news reports, weather, etc are great. This app gives summary and detail of all you need to know about local news. The script extends beyond the screen and requires constant movement to read the content. If that was fixed, I'd rate it a 5.

Either Crashes or Doesn't Load.. Great news coverage for northern NJ when you can get the app to load. If you can get it to load...it frequently crashes. Very disappointed, please fix.

USELESS. What good is a news app that crashes 80% of the time and doesn't have any news to view the other 20% of the time? It's a good thing I didn't pay for this crap. Also, when it is working the grammatical errors in the stories are maddening. One star is too good a rating for this app.

App just loads web page in app. This update is horrible. Now the app just loads the regular large desktop web page within the app, and you can't zoom out to see the entire page. Nothing is formatted for mobile devices. The app is useless.

Better off going to the website.. The app either crashes or the news just doesn't load up. Rarely works.

Would be great.... If it actually worked. Have had this app since it first hit the App Store and it hasn't gotten any better. Constantly shows "there are no news" in the feed. What kind of sentence is that? Seems as if The Record put something out there to simply have a presence in the App Store without caring how terrible a product they shipped. I actually enjoy reading The Record, just makes it difficult to continue to support them when they seem to not care about customer input.

Works great but. Like lots of other things today, there are WAY too many ads. Having ads - multiple ads - in between paragraphs of practically ever story I read is beyond annoying.

Search. This app is way better than it was but it should contain a archive search even if it was to route you to the web page instead of in app. The ability to search for articles makes the experience more convenient and enjoyable.

Not terrible. Really would like to see a more comprehensive and user-friendly version. Like the Record in its totality, so would like to be able to access the Better Living and Classified sections via the app. Would also be convenient for garage sales and job ads. Glad to see northjerseymedia stepping into the 21st century!

Can't get worse. No wonder the publishers are going out of business. Instead of embracing the technology our friends at north jersey app hire incompetent app developers to develop an app that looks like design from 1960's. Not mobile friendly mobile app. You have to return to the top and scroll down. Can't expand every section. Embarrassing. Perhaps they can speak to their kids who will help with design.

Horrible. This app is horrible. They should go back to the original format because that is what worked best. If you want to go back a page you have to start all over again. The local news is nonexistent now. I loved being able to look up my town and see what was going on in the news. This app is absolutely horrible.

Slick update. Lots of new features that work great. I am pleasantly surprised at how easy and intuitive it was to get to the newsi wanted. Love the news near me button.

Stick with the www link. One of the worst apps ever! Page loads in a huge size so it's impossible to read a story. Navigating is impossible. Impossible to imagine how someone got paid actual money to create this crap

Happy and Grateful. Since I moved out of state I'm really happy and grateful that I can still read "The Record". If given a choice I like the older version better....

Excellent!. Love the design and function! At first I was just very pleased that I could enlarge text, even if I had to do it for each story. Then I realized that it goes to perfect (for me) text size merely by going horizontal! Great source for local, national, and international news. And, btw, reporters from The Record have been impressive all over the media! (I'm still curious as to why the Oranges are not part of towns coverage.)

Second rate. This app continues to disappoint. The top news stories never load and there are constant glitches. A newspaper located in northern new jersey should have better tech support to fix problems like these. Also, the articles that are available can occasionally have spelling an grammatical errors.
