Fixes have made this a better App. Some of the low reviews are before the fix to the rated game. Now, the rated game is only 250 points, and no comments other than the 5 pre-programmed responses are allowed. There are still some bad players who will always bid nil, and then when they get set, bid 13 and leave, but that will always happen - Not a problem with the app, but with other players. Strange though. Each time I get up over 1950 points in my rating, I start getting horrible partners and will lose as many as 20 games in a row (a statistical impossibility) - that will take me down into the 1600s. I believe the apps matching is far from random - that when you reach a certain point level, you start getting paired up with historically bad bidders - ones who get set more often, or who don't understand team play.

Wow… partner?. If you know anything about spades, at all… think about what would have you screaming across the table at your partner. In this game your partner will do ALL of that stuff! All of it… they didn’t miss a thing. Unpredictable bidding… check. Saving your opponents nil hands? Check! Overbooking like crazy to set you back, sometimes three times in a game… YUP! Not protecting you on a nil hand… oh yeah! Throwing spades to pull all yours so you can’t make bid… of course! Sometimes he underbids by seven books!! Then on the next hand he can’t make his three. My partner in this game has wasted all his spades catching hands, got my nil set, AND got us set back for overbooks all in one hand. All of that stuff… I could write off to terrible programming except your opponents make mistakes like that once in a blue moon. Lastly, it is readily apparent that your opponents know what you have in your hand. As an illustration, I bid a nil and have one ace in my hand that’s protected by at least two low cards. The guy to my left leads that suit and takes the book twice in a row and throws his last card of that suit to pull my ace… but the guy on my right is out and doesn’t drop a spade even though my partner is winning the book, and they’re in a pinch to make bid? Sure… I keep looking for another spade game. The commercials are nonstop too… don’t waste your time.

Great app for learning spades, but it’s got flaws. I downloaded this app because I wanted to learn how to play spades, and I didn’t want to have to sit and watch people play it and explain everything to me. After a couple of weeks, I learned all the basics and started to pick up some strategies, handily destroying the easy and medium AI’s. Wanting more of a challenge, I switched the difficulty to hard AI. That’s when the cracks started to show. Hard AI doesn’t change up any of its strategies as the other two difficulties, instead it just cheats and knows all of the cards in everyone’s hands. It will bid blind zero when it knows it’s hand is unbeatable, always winning. Also, if you bid zero, it will make every player lead the one suit that will trip you up. Even YOUR partner will lead a card that every other AI can get under except you, like it’s 3 against 1 instead of 2v2. At first I thought it was just really bad luck, but after having so many zero bids scrapped due to a partner throwing under me, or maybe just being short suited and that suit never being played, it’s pretty obvious that “hard” mode is just the AI looking at your hand while you can’t see theirs. It’s a great app for picking up spades, but play with real people when you want a challenge. I played online a little with this game, but most of the time the other players would just stop playing halfway through a game, and then you’d be playing AI’s again.

Artificial Stupidity. I don't play multiplayer. I just play the computer. And I'm a bit thrown at how well the opponent AI plays yet my partner is a complete moron. If I set my partner to conservative it regularly underbids and we accumulate bags quickly. If I set my partner to normal it regularly overbids and can't catch its bid. In either case when our bid is met it won't throw off to force the other team to catch bags. The worst is it's behavior when I bid nil. I just played a game where I bid blind nil in a desperate attempt to win the game and I watched the cards very carefully. We were just a few tricks into the hand when my partner led with a 7 of diamonds and set me as I had an 8 as my lowest. I had already played a lower diamond in response to my opponent and my partner covered it. If my partner had no other diamonds it should have played a higher card in another suit (which it had). But just a few tricks later it played both a 10 and Jack of diamonds. If I played like that in real games I would never find a partner that would want to play with me. It's still the best one out there so far but it doesn't set a very high bar.

Need to fix matching. The game itself is good and the rating system is usually a good indication of the skill level of your partner. That being said matching players with a large difference between their ratings is not fair to the person with the higher rating. For example a player with a low rating may not understand some of the nuances of the game, because they have never actually played it in person. There should be an option to refuse the match for those who wish to have a competitive game that is not sabotaged by poor play such as bidding nil with 4 spades. Understanding that there’s situations for that but that’s the exception and not the norm. Developers: expect a crappy review each time I get matched with a player who doesn’t understand the basics of the game. Matching players that’s are hundreds of points apart in ratings isn’t fair to the player with the higher rating.

Fun to play but glitches sometimes. I’ve twice in the past few days experienced a glitch and screen captured it. In the glitch, at the beginning of the game, some of the cards appeared lifted and I could not select the card beneath the “lifted card.” My teammate went nil and I could not protect. I have video screen capture evidence of the glitches from both occurrences. When I tried to report the problem through the app, it told me to configure an email but I could find no way to configure an email in the app in the settings. If the developers would reach out to me with an email address, I can send them still images or videos. Otherwise, I’ve been playing this app for years. Always a go-to.

Stay away Trash App. This game is 100% rigged. It’s overloaded with ads you will be kicked out the game because of ads people quit constantly and you never get a good game. I have yet to play one for game. The AI is always set up against you as a partner to help the other team win this game is 100% scam. Stay away . If you look at the response from the developer, they never respond to reviews like mine, but yet they will respond via bought, saying the same thing over for good ratings , the 4.8 has been 4.8 rating for mini mini years that tells you right there that the game is a false rating there’s no way this game is a 4.8. It’s all fake it’s all rig it’s all scam to make money off ads. Do not waste your time. I’m deleting the app.

Would be 5 Star but.......... Like many other reviews say this game is addicting and awesome. I don’t even mind the matchmaking settings. The problem with this game is like many other games PEOPLE partners get set once and instantly big Nil or 13 then Quit. Easily resolve 90% of this by....... implementing a higher rank loss for bidding 13 and Nil of the person doesn’t hit their hand. For those of us who hit their hands without getting set even on a loss give us points. Even 1+ for losing without missing a bid. It’s ridiculous that I have to be punished for others players rage bids then quitting. They get -10 I get -9!!!? Please figure out how to penalize people who get set regularly or bid nil or 13 and get set. It can’t be that hard of a fix and I’m tired of getting these types of players as my partners. Will easily change my rating to 5* if any attempt to fix is made thanks!

Best spades app, but that’s not saying much.. From what I’ve seen this is the best spades app as far as visually and game play but there are just some really bad ones out there. What kills me about this app is there is no real accountability for players conduct. Most people are good but there are some that are just terrible and if you quit you get punished like children. You should be able to have a “friends list” and be able to play with or against those friends. You should be able to choose who you want to play with or against by looking at stats such as how many quits they have and their ranking. Also the ranked game has only one type of game, first to 250 and no double nils, you can’t freely chat, only has stupid phrases to choose from that don’t make sense. MSN Zone website did it best. Unfortunately that is no longer around, but please find out what they did and try to duplicate. The app would be so much better. I’ll be back in 24 hours after my punishment is over because I quit after my opponent kept bidding 13 and wasting my time, once again.

Skip it. Here is the problem with this app when u play for ranking u get paired with a terrible player they bid 9 and get 4 then leave the game. I stick out the game and I lose points. I also hate that it’s easy to get a nil hand some games are over in two rounds because a player can get two nils. The app should not give so many points for a nil in a game to 250. It’s fine if it’s a friendly game to 500 but I game to 250 nil should be worth half the points if the ai gifts one team a win the other team shouldn’t lose points because no play they could have made will help them. The ap should also allow you the ability to tell they system if you never want to be paired with that partner again at games end. Last the ai is messed up you could be winning big and the ai will step in and help the losing side does this all the time. If I play with the computer because my partner left I should not lose points most of the time the computer is dumber than some of the players on here. The ai is seriously flawed

Great game and app, but could use a couple of tweaks. I enjoy this app, as I enjoy playing Spades, but there are a couple of tweaks I’d like to see when it comes to blind nil bids. 1. A player shouldn’t be allowed to bid blind nil after the opponents make their bids - if the first three players collectively bid for 12 tricks, that’s a pretty big hint to the fourth. So, the choice to bid blind should be set up to occur before the regular bidding starts. 2. When I’ve bid blind nil in actual in-person Spades games, it is customary for the blind bidder and their partner to swap one or two cards each prior to commencing the hand - this allows a blind bidder to get rid of an Ace of Spades and give themselves a chance. This should be an option in a future release of this Spades app.

Computer is an idiot. I thought computers were supposed to be smart. The computer for this app is an absolute idiot. I’ve seen them take unnecessary bags, cut with the ace as opposed to a lower spade when their partner bid nil, play a 2 of club instead of the ace of club when trying to cover a nil, et cetera. They do not seem to understand the concept of throwing off, so they don’t accumulate unnecessary bags. Instead, they play as if the goal is to earn as many bags as possible. Also, I’ve seen the computer nil and throw off the 2 of clubs when they had to throw off the ace of clubs. The computer also doesn’t know how to bid! Both teams could be tied at 499 with 8 bags. If the computer is the last to bid, they will not bid to win the game and they will not play “more” or “less” aggressive, in trying not to get bags or force the other team to get bags. This app could be great but the computer leaves a lot to be desired... wish that I could rate it zero stars...

Great app, but AIs and adds are terrible. This is a great app to play spades with friends when you are not all together. Disappointed that you cannot trade a card for blind nill and first round is not led with lowest club, but otherwise game play is the same. The chat feature is fun and useful. Biggest complaints are the overwhelming amount of adds, between each round, and the horrible game play by the AIs. My partner dropped out of the game, the ai bids nill and then throws a spade on an off-card hand? The programming for game play on these characters needs some serious improvement. Only real way to play is with people you know. Playing with other real people is decent, but some people are terrible and you never know who you will get paired with. A feature to be able to block players or add friends and improvement of the AIs would improve game play 100 fold. An option to pay for no adds and unlimited tokens would be smart too.

horrible partners!. the game itself is great and addicting but it gets very aggravating because the partners in solo mode are absolute idiots. I bid nil and invariable my partner leads a two or four. the opponents bid nil, and my partner plays his highest cards. he plays a higher card or overtrumps my tricks when he plays last and then we don't make our bid because he has used up his good cards to take tricks I would have won. he always plays his highest trump the first chance he gets, even when he is the last player and a low trump would win the trick. doesn't matter if you configure your partner conservative, regular, or aggressive--they don't know how to play the game! UPDATE: This game gets NO stars! Rather than improving the AI partners, they get worse and worse. They have no idea how to bid--often bid 1 with 2-3 aces--and seem to think the goal of the game is to get as many bags as possible. They wait until the other team makes it's bid, then grab as many extra tricks as possible. Can't make it through a whole game without losing at least 100 points for 10 bags. I'm so aggravated by the poor play, this app will be uninstalled as soon as this review appears.

Partner is worthless at times. This game is user friendly but your partner does very dumb things, mostly when you go nil. When I go nil or bn, my partner almost always spades another suit with his HIGHEST spade and then plays lower spades when the suit is actually led. I get set often because of this. Also, he leads with low cards even though he is holding higher ones. For instance, he recently led with an 8, but later on played the Ace in the same suit. Furthermore, it is extremely hard to set opponents because they bag all the time. But on the other hand, my partner will not get his bid about 40% of the time. If the developer responds with “The computer partner plays his best card”, it’s not true. I’ve been playing spades a very long time and know he could be a lot better.

This app is now very bad. I used to love this app. I would play it almost every day. Now, however, I cannot stand it. Believe me or not, I don’t care, this game is designed to cheat. Every single time that I put the AI in a position to have something negative happen, there is always something to counter act the negative. If the AI is going to have 10 bags, it gets either a really big hand for its partner or an actual 10 to make the negative mean nothing. When my AI partner bids a 0, I can back it up and hold up on my end. BUT, if I bid a 0 my AI “partner” can NEVER seem to back me up. There have even been times where I bid 0 and my partner bids high and we get set as well as I make a book. We lose 150+. This has happened MANY times. It is almost like clockwork. This used to be an enjoyable app. Not anymore. Every time I play it is almost a guaranteed disappointment because of the AI always being slanted to win. It wasn’t like this before. I don’t even feel like I have a chance to win. The random things that happen are absolutely ridiculous and make the game very frustrating to say the least. This is the longest review I have ever written as well as one that I never thought I would have to write. But it IS warranted. This app is one of the apps I always made sure was installed on my phone. NOT ANYMORE. I don’t need the frustration and disappointment.

It is good BUT. I really like your game but i almost deleted it after playing quite a bit for some time. The computer team was able to go Nello almost every hand. When my computer partner went Nello, he usually got a book. After i reached a higher level this decreased but there are games that one of the computer team goes Nello most hands douing the game. I have used this to increase my skills in going Nello. But, quite often i am prevented from going Nello due to having one or two aces and am left with going with betting one or to books. Also my computer partner will recognize when i have the trump card but when it comes to the high cards, especially spades, he will trump me and we lose a book. This has caused us to not meet our bid several tomes. You have made a much better games than others have and i than you. Dad

New ad format ruins it. Used to love this app - played it so much I finally had to delete from my phone. Definitely WAS a five star. Then recently I weakened and downloaded again. To my great disappointment discovered developers had inserted a new in-hand ad format to supplement their existing format that displayed only after a hand was finished. With this new format a blinking shrieking obnoxious ad displayed on top of screen all through the hand you are trying to bid or play is constantly distracting you. Sometimes it’s so bad I literally start to get a headache. If the developers were secretly trying to cure my addiction it worked! I’ve moved on to other games. If I could rate this a negative five stars I would from sheer heartbreak.

A joke. I’ve been playing on this app since 2017. I play the rated version with real people and up until the last year or so, everything has been fine. But over the past year, they way the multiplayer is set up has become increasingly frustrating. You get punished for the dumbest things. Like I get being “punished” for quitting a game that you’re losing but at the same time there are people that will purposely make bad plays, but I get punished for not sticking around when they are clearly sabotaging the game. And the more you “quit” the more the algorithm will purposely match you with lower rated players as “punishment.” but what about punishing the other end? People will literally bid 0 and purposely win books to make you lose 100 points and nothing happens to them. My rating was in the 2000s and I quit 1 game because a lower rated player that was my partner just went off the rails making purposely dumb plays and now my rating has dropped to the 1600s and can’t get back up because I keep getting matched with partners that have THE lowest ratings. It literally makes no sense. And I can’t even delete my profile and start over. Like literally WHO CARES IF SOMEONE QUITS THE GAME?! I find myself HOPING that my partners will quit, because the AI partner is better than a real person.

Cream of the Crap. If you played yahoo years ago, you’ll never find anything close. This app is the cream of the crap. It glitches regularly where you get randomly kicked from a game and it never allows you back in so you’ll most often lose your rating points. People will cheat by using the scripted chat and, since all of your partners are random, it will put you into games with people sometimes 500 rating pts below so you’re forced to play with partners who don’t know the game, how to read your play or bid their hand. All that said, it’s the best interface and with a few programming tweaks they could make it better and kill the competition but they don’t. So basically they’re lost potential and it’s no better than any other app.

Too many foul players. Edit: 7/1/20 Developers did respond to my review and thanks for taking the time to do that. One easy fix you could do that would greatly benefit everyone who plays in rated multiplayer is eliminating the 13 bid. Original review below with grammatical corrections. This is a decent app for spades, and I appreciate the clean aesthetic without a lot of extra clutter on the screen BUT players will bid 13 if you make a mistake, or abandon the game, and even though they penalize the player who leaves, you still lose points on your rating when you lose. I’ve seen players completely sabotage games out of spite if they get set or get a book when the bid nil. It looks like you can’t get above 1700 points without spending money on more coins or the game will give you hands that are guaranteed to lose unless someone on the other team makes a serious mistake. And if your partner leaves and you decide to play with the pc partner, the ai will sabotage you too - by overbidding/underbidding. I recently had “shark” as a partner in multiplayer when it bid nil and proceeded to cut with a spade to win a book in a game I could’ve won. They need to fix that ASAP. It’s not fair to be punished for staying in the game when your partner quits or losing points because they left or sabotaged your game.

Booted during ads. I love the game play on this app. I don’t pay to play free games on my phone, so I understand that seeing ads will be part of my experience. Unfortunately, they play ads in between hands (during rated games) that either can’t be exited or take so long to play that you get booted from the game. This is unbelievably frustrating. On average, I get booted once every 15 games or so. After working my way up over 2300 rating, it has become unacceptable to get booted from important games. I will also say the amount of angry players that act like they’ve never busted or got a bag in their life is ridiculous. There should be a 100 point rating deduction for players that: 1. Bid nil and lead with an ace 2. Bid nil with the ace of spades or 3. Intentionally overbid by four or more books than you get. Salty players should be penalized. If not for these two issues, it would be an easy five star rating. Not sure how much longer I will play this game without correcting them.

Rigged. The game will boot your partner and replace with a bot who will make sure you lose so you’ll purchase more coins to play. It’s so obvious!!! Last game I played, had one hand left to win. The other team was over by 8 and we just needed 5 cards to win and make them go over by 2. My partner got booted, I bid 3, my new computer partner bids 1 when we only needed 2 more cards. The other team bids 0 and 3, which is a sure win and my computer partner throws down all aces, kings, queens, etc. Other team only goes over by 9 and wins the game. I’m deleting this app because this has happened too many times and it’s ridiculously obvious. Lost that game and guess what?! I was out of coins and needed to pay money to keep playing! What a shocker!! This money hungry crap takes the fun out of the game! Is it not enough that we have to see ads the entire time we play PLUS a commercial during each hand?? Guess not!

AI is terrible. I’ve tried the single and multiplayer games multiple times. On single player, the AI is terrible. It constantly leads with spades that more often than not results in the opponent “running spades” and eliminating my ability to cut. Why is it programmed to lead with spades EVERY TIME if all the AI has are low level spades or only a couple? Also, when the opponent goes nil... the AI partner never tries to set them. There have been a few times that I’ve set it up to where the opponent has to play a high card in a suit just to have the AI cut the book. I’ve played spades a long time. There are few people that I know that make nil such a big part of the rules. Where are the blind 6, 10 for 200, 4 book minimum bid, and jokers as wild cards options? Those are bigger displays of skills than the nil... which is just trying to go lower than the cards played. On multiplayer, not sure what you can do but it’s annoying to play with folks that stall/take too long to play. Either be in a position to devote your attention to playing or don’t play.

Used to be a good app. This is no longer the top Spades app for a reason. It let’s literally anyone join “the round table” competitive table, including completely incompetent, zero common sense having, players who completely waste everyone’s time who legitimately enjoy playing this game. There is zero chance these morons have a career win percentage higher than 20%. So when you tell the person they play like an amateur, they repot you and the app suspends your chat privileges indefinitely instead of doing anything about players who intentionally tag bags or go nil with King and Queen of spades. Their AI isn’t much better. Bids 1 with two aces and a King. There’s never any lag, it boots players who take too long, but it’s very frustrating dealing with players who don’t have an ounce of common sense at the most competitive table and the app refuses to do anything about it.

It’s a problem. Not big into leaving reviews but I need to get this off my chest. The AI, that is your partner, in this game is a complete idiot. I mean REALLY?!? The way this “computer” plays the hand is absolutely obnoxiously ignorant!! The game itself is fun and easy to play but when I have to consider the idiotic plays that my “partner” will make when bidding then it truly takes away from all the good the game has to offer. Fix this please!! This AI is driving me nuts. The game plays well but the stupidity of the computer is overwhelming and ruins the game completely!!! I can’t say enough negative things about the computer play!! UPDATE: I just deleted this App!!! The Stupidity!! of the AI takes ALL the fun out of this game. Thank You to the developers for not charging $$ for any part of this game because that would have been a legit CRIME!! I wish I could slap the guy that programmed this game!! I really, REALLY do!!!

Chat Ban!. This game is actually fun and one of the better spades apps but of course there is a set back. People you play can report you randomly and without reason. Sometimes people trash talk but it generally isn’t that serious. The problem is people can report you and say anything they want. There is no moderator or any review of the reports that are sent. Needless to say that leads to people no longer being able to communicate with eachother or their partner during a game. So if you enjoy playing with someone and would like to play with them again in the future there is no way to contact them once you’ve been banned from chat. If reports could be moderated or were reviewed I’d rate this game a lot higher. Unfortunately, due to the chat bans this game hands out all the time I’d say invest your time in another spades app, at least until they start to moderate or review their chat policy.

Throw The Whole App Away!!!!. I downloaded this app less than 24 hours ago and will be uninstalling. My partner and I were winning and there was a racist jerk on the team who became upset he was losing. He than began to tabletalk actually telling his partner what to play and harassing me. I clicked on his profile trying to report the issue and/or block the player and there was not an option to do either. I emailed the developer detailing the experience and suggesting the option be added to the app to report, block players etc. I received a response from the developer whose name is Jason. His response consisted of thanking me for emailing about the AI of the game and that he was sorry I had a bad experience with the "AI". My email had nothing at all to do with the AI of the app. It seems like he just clicked a random auto response and used it to reply to me without even taking the time to read the actual email I sent. I know that developers cannot control actions of other players but they do have control of the level of appreciation(or lack thereof) that they show their supporters. This has been a terrible experience and I refuse to support an app(rather free or not) whose developers show no appreciation or concern for their users.

Online Rankings. How are the rankings determined for ranked matches? I don’t agree with the fact that you’re partner may not be good and there’s no way to compensate that in the rankings when you lose. Sometimes you’re partner can play worse and lose less points then you. I don’t agree with that either. I also hate how you’ll lose 10 points sometimes as oppose to 7 where’s it’s no consistency, it’s completely random. In addition, there’s games where the opposing team is able to bid back to back nils and sometimes there’s no way to stop it and it’s an easy win with easy rank points. Can someone please explain how the rankings work to me?

Horrible algorithms. Update: played this game for a long time, went as high as 2143 rating, played and beat players above 2600… then all of a sudden im 1590 and cant get back up no matter what… you do the math. Computer AI logic of disseminating cards is elementary to say the least. It's at a point where you can predict the cards if you play it long enough and its always the same old boring thing. At least mix it up a little I would say.... Computer also bans players if they leave games...that being said, you can get a 24 hour ban or worst if you choose to leave games where your partners are clearly losing on purpose. Not sure whos great idea the ban thing was but its really frustrating to be forced to play with losers or face being banned... Not sure which is worst...hence I chose to delete. My suggestion? - don't even go through the trouble of downloading the game, there are plenty other spade games out there. This one is a waste of time.

This is my favorite spades version. I have played this daily for years. It is only getting better. This game has the best computer players out of any of them. It is the closest to reality thus far and I am the queen of spades. It is not perfect, but other versions do not compare. The only dislike I have is the new layout is visually hard to see. I prefer the other layout before this new update. Suggestions- I do wish I could play varying rules though, like 10 for 200 or blind any number... Have a kitty. Have jokers wild. Stuff like that. July 2019 update- I still love the game, but there should be no sandbags if your computer partner cannot recognize that you are dumping high cards.. A human can (who plays alot)

10 games already Quitters. I'm an experienced spades player I compete at tournaments so when I started playing around the 1600 rating they where obviously no match. It was still fun some thoughts. There should be more experience granted for repeatedly beating people down I should not be winning 8-9 matches in a row and getting such small experience. I like the game but I would rather pay than see ads every second. Next the skill pairing is way off I'll have a 1500 player playing with me versus two 1800 + players we still won but I had good hands. Next people stall and quit with bad hands. It's so annoying. If two people leave it should be a auto win and a penalty extra points for the winning team.

Lack of Integrity Affecting Win/Loss Stats. I love everything about the game and the feeling of a real spades game experience EXCEPT that players are able to abandon game table during the game. It is rude and a lack of integrity on player’s behalf when they play a bad hand, receive a bad hand, or jam up their partner and are able to just walk away and leave their player to deal with the consequence which include receiving a loss on their game statistics. The abandoning of the game by players is happening during almost every game is disruptive, unfair, and takes away the opportunity for us to play a strategic game of spades with real users from beginning to end. Please remove the ability for players to leave the game table after the game has begun!!!

Ranking and Quit Penalties. I really enjoy this game. I have been playing for quite a while but the ranking matched games need to change. I most of the time get matched with a partner whose rank is considerably lower than my own and they have no idea what they are doing and it costs me the game and a big hit on my ranking. And now the developers have decided that if you abandon too many games, there is a 24 hour wait before playing again. It is very frustrating when you have to play with a considerably lower ranked person and they cause you to lose. Please consider doing something with the rank matches. If there is no one in my rank level at the time I choose to play, then let it be my choice to not play at that time. I will continue to abandon a game when matched with an incompetent partner.

Needs improvement. I’ve been playing spades for years with actual people and love the game, so I saw this and downloaded it. At first playing it seems pretty good. But the more I’ve played the more I see huge flaws. For example just as others have stated going nil with low cards my partner will throw a lower card than me in a suit causing me to take a book; then the next hand throw an ace or king. The opposing team somehow “instinctively” knows their partner is either out of a certain suit, has the next highest card in a suit or the highest spade and will throw accordingly. If it were humans I’d cause them of cheating or being psychic. Out of 20 games - not hands, games- I might win one. I play at hard level but it doesn’t matter which level you play at the ai still plays the same. Very frustrating. Developers need to look at this and make better ai response.

Convinced this game manipulates outcomes. I have played countless games, as I enjoy spades, so if you are entertained this could work for you. But the intelligence of the other players is poor, especially when I bid nil. I have countless times where my partner plays a high spade to win a trick that was not needed and is then left with a low spade (or no spade) to cover me. In addition, I am fully convinced that the program just wants the game to continue on to show more ads. The computer will often bid nil when it has over 400 points, and it is way to easy to bust that nil than earlier bid nils. My partner will often bid just enough to get us to 490 so the bags add up and potentially lose the game (but get another 2-3 hands of ads to watch). I don’t even worry if I get down by 400 points, as I believe the program wants to prolong the ads. I have come back several times from that far down (especially after my unintelligent partner can’t properly cover a blind nil), it’s all fun but I can’t play this any longer knowing that it’s just manipulating for increased ads.

Good Game, Could Be Better. Great user interface, easy to use, fun. The one thing that would take this app from good to great is if you got more points for winning than negative points for losing. There are some instances on rated games where I’ll end up winning a hand and go up 8-10 points and then lose the next hand and go down 8-10 points (or sometimes more than if I won). I understand it’s based on the rankings of the other players in the game but just as a general rule of thumb I think your consequence for losing should never be equal to or greater than the reward for winning. Creates a feeling that you aren’t going anywhere in your rank. My style of scoring system still creates groups of more skilled players towards the top end, but it should make it a little easier to get out of the 1700s/1800s. PLEASE FIX THE POINT VALUES FOR WINNING AND LOSING. I went up 8 for winning and then went down 10 for losing the next game when my partner LEFT. You should ALWAYS go up more for winning than for losing, regardless of the rating of the other players. You should go up 7-10 points if you win (based on the rating of who you beat) and go back 3-6 points for losing (based on the rating of who you lost to). Very frustrating, have been stuck in the 1700’s for months because of bad partner play. One step forward, two steps back.

Worse Game I ever played. Stay away from this cheating game. Developer will comment on this post saying blah blah blah the same thing they say on everybody’s post but here’s the real thing it’s rigged. You will never get a decent game people quit AI is set up to fail. It is set up to make you lose stay away from this game. I will never download this cheating crap ever again. Straight rigged. Fake 4.8 ratings. It never moves off 4.8 over 5 years. It’s all fake and rigged !! Out of 10 games I got one good game. 1 !!! Who wants to play when the cards are rigged and ppl stall and go nil with the ace of spades. If you want the real truth about this game read the lowest stars given. Not 5 stars by robots to boost their rating. No way a 1700 plus should be playing with a 1100 , come on man you know it’s rigged. Waste of time !!!

Having a Partner is more like opponent. Overall the game play is fine and it does what it is supposed to. There are no lags. I like to play solo (AI version). So this review is based on that. I have the free version and honestly couldn’t find a paid version, if that would make a difference. The biggest, most frustrating part of the game is your team player. It is like you are playing alone but have to also suffer poor decisions of partner. Here are some examples. 1. Going nil: I went nil. Yes it was a stretch, but it was just a game. My partner also went nil. So that means there is no way we could cover for each other. 2. Covering Partner: In real play, a partner would cover their teammate if it were a possible move. I went Nil. A suit was called that I had to play and it was only a mid range number. My partner, who was NOT going nil, threw a card less than mine so I won the trick cost our team 100 points. Turns out, they had the Ace of that suit. I could go on with examples like this where having a partner was worse than being a single player. Even if I could sort of get the first scenario, the second made no sense. If it was smart enough to know it didn’t have to over play because the partner had it, it should be smart enough to know the bid was nil and it shouldn’t use that tactic. Every time I play I get frustrated for those reasons. I got over the fact you couldn’t count on the partner. But final straw was when it bid nil when I already had.

Very buggy when I’m winning????. I really do like this game. It’s laggy and disconnecting issues are getting very annoying and unbearable. Add to this the lack of some sort of chat. Or after winning or losing you can elect to keep your partner. I seem to draw some non spade playing partners who think nil is I don’t have any spades I’m nil is a complete bidding option. I can’t not chose them. I’ve played with so many like this that when we do win I should be rewarded more for that miracle my partner went nil with a king spade and three hearts one is an ace. Definitely not nil. I’m going to rate this with 2 stars only because it’s still spades. It needs more options for play. Still Still Why does it place so many ads in the game. I’m not going to download an app when its intrusive advertisement gets me booted from the game. Win or Lose. It’s maddening and getting me closer to deleting it.

Still waiting for a fix!!!. Quit letting players set and run out on a game! If they leave take at least 10 points off and make them sit out a while…even if their partner still manages to win! The player that stays should not get points taken away if they lose but get points or even bonus points if they win! It’s ridiculous to have 9 out of 10 games have players make stupid bids and get set then leave the game and if their partner is skilled enough to still win with a ridiculous bot they should get bonus points and the player that ran out get extra points taken away!! The other bad thing are the players that are losing so they just stall out the game till they finally get booted all because they are poor sports and know they don’t get penalized enough to care so it ruins the game for everyone! These are such obvious fixes to an overwhelming problem that’s costing your game money from people that are tired of paying to play quitters! I’d buy lots more games if not for these issues. I only buy now when I’m so bored of everything else but lately even that’s not happening because I’d rather not play then have a quitter run out and stick me with a bot that has no clue what bags mean!! Wake up and fix this crap unless you wanna just keep losing cash customers!!! This game would hands down be a 5 star game if not for that one simple problem!

Spades. Updated review… fun game.. very competitive.. I have won and lost games.. won many in a row and lost several in a row. It can get frustrating because players who are randomly selected to be a playing partner quit for various reasons: phone battery runs out, watches advertisements too long; made a bade decision while playing (bid too high or went zero and could not achieve it). This game needs to make communication better between players and prevent players from quitting a game. Fun game. Just relax and play, learn to win and accept a loss. Updated review: Please up date the ability to communicate to other players in the “play rated game”. Some communication Examples might be: were gonna win; don’t quit. My mistake. Oops. awesome play. Why did he/she leave?. The phone’s battery must have died. Accidentally unplugged. I have a bad hand. My hand is impressive. Good comeback. Hang in there we will comeback to win. Don’t quit. Just to name a few. I am sure others have suggested expanded communication. ————— This game is fun and competitively difficult. Fun and very competitive. Your partner, whom ever that may be, can get upset and leave in midst of game. Sometimes exiting a game early is not always the fault of a player ... sometimes it’s the phone battery’s fault.

AI partner is infuriating!. The AI partner is more of a liability than it’s worth. As soon as a player breaks spades, the AI empties all the spades in its hand, wiping out any advantage you might have had on a broken suit. For example: I have the 10, 5, 6, and 3 of spades, and only one heart. Once I play the heart, and break spades, instead of feeding out hearts to take advantage of it, my “partner” will start throwing all its high spades, wiping me out, and often losing itself by playing a king before the ace has been revealed. In a normal game, I might be able to pick up a couple of tricks before the other players break. One time, this exact scenario happened and I assumed the AI had also run out of the suit. Nope. Once all the spades were exhausted, out pops a 5 of hearts. The opposing AIs seem to understand this premise just fine. I’ve learned to cut my bid as a result. The AI is also streaky in its bidding, going through stretches where it will do things like bid 3 or 4 and get zero, with nothing in its hand to justify the bid. Other times it will rake in hand bags in bunches. Restarting the app is the quickest way to get it back on track.

It’s okay BUT. This is a okay game with some serious issues. Here’s a list of a few 1- players are not well ranked and are often poor partners who make big mistakes that costs you. 2- players are allowed to drop out of the game after they screwed it up without penalty or consequence. 3- when players drop out of game bot takes over and their play is often as bad as beginners which again costs you. Very frustrating!!! 4- periodically the game locks up and you are booted or entire game is lost. 5- players who bail out of a game prematurely should be penalized for that action, regardless of whether the team wins or loses the game. Especially if they don’t make their bid or take a point on a Nill bid. There partner shouldn’t be left holding their trash bag. 6- some players are so slow in playing their cards. I understand once in awhile people get distracted but not every turn. It makes the game unenjoyable for other players. 7- often you can bid your hand perfectly but your partner over bids or doesn’t make their bids which resulted in you losing the game even when you play was spot on. Credit should be given for well played hands regardless of your partners poor play.

Stupid, ultra stupid AI. Spades is a game I enjoy to kill the time BUT, the Artificial Intelligence, is definitely sub par. When you go for a zero hand, your partner doesn’t always play a card to beat yours. Just happened to me again...... The sandbags are something that happen from time to time but Come On!!!!! When I bid zero my “partner” should ALWAYS throw a card to beat mine when it is available...that definitely needs fixed....I do seriously question the deals also, it seems that most of the time I find the cpu opponents consistently get better hands. It makes the game challenging but unfair nonetheless. Fix the zero hand issue and the game would be immensely better, then at least you can make up for getting weaker deals consistently. Two stars, no more without an update that fixes the problem.

Too many sore losers I the community. I had been looking a long time for a spades game with human opponents, and was really excited to find this game. (Much more interesting then playing the computer) Unfortunately that is basically what almost every game becomes. Every game someone bids nill on the first round, then if they miss, both they and their partner bail/quit 3 hands into the first round and you end up playing the computer. (Frequently the computer battles back and sometimes even wins, but what’s the point in playing human opponents if they quit the second they aren’t in the lead. I almost feel bad scoring the software developers based on the player community, but it is within their control to penalize the score/rating of players that habitually quit the second they are not in the lead, or even block them.

Computer partner bids nil, then trumps tricks unnecessarily. This game would be a lot of fun if not for the fact that your computer partner frequently spades tricks—even when it has other suits available to play—after it has bid nil, thereby costing your team 100 points for absolutely no good reason whatsoever. I have complained to the support staff about this, and received a totally lame reply: “I’m sorry you’re frustrated with how the AI chooses to play sometimes. Please know that the AI works very hard to make the best play it can, but sometimes doesn’t see the same moves a human would.” But this is not a case of an AI “not seeing the same move a human would”—this is a flat-out flaw in the programming. If the AI can’t play a nil hand the way a nil hand should be played, it shouldn’t be able to bid nil, plain and simple. In short, your computer partner will shoot you in the foot, because it is not programmed to play the game properly, making this game very frustrating to play.

Player reporting inaccurate. I have played this game for years and I have always liked it despite a few flaws. However, recently they have added a feature allowing players to report one another’s abuse. The problem is that you get reported for doing nothing. Example, if someone doesn’t like your profile picture, they will report you. If your user name is associated with someone or something they don’t like they will report you, then without any investigation of the matter, your ability to talk to other players is disabled for a few days. This has happened to me twice. I literally changed my profile picture to a cartoon because I think people just report someone because they don’t like their race. I may find another app to play on. I miss the old days on Yahoo Spades.

Solid but some glitches are inexcusable. I have gotten used to the way the computer parter plays regular hands. Not how I would, but I accept that a computer might not see the game as me. But some of the way it plays when I have bid nil is inexcusable. When cutting a suit, it inexplicably cuts with its highest or 2nd highest spade, and no human would do something that dumb. That should be an easy fix. If I bid nil, cutting a different suit with the lowest spade is a no brainer. I cannot stress how many times I have lost because the computer partner has wasted a King of Spades cutting hearts and now can’t cover my highest spade because it only has a low spade. Another glitch is that when the computer partner bids nil, if it goes too long, it will randomly throw out a spade and cut a suit for no reason. It will have other non spades that it could have played instead but for some odd reason, it decides to play a spade and ends up taking a book. Maybe the algorithm says it’s likely I can cover, but that is not always the case and there’s NO REASON to gamble playing a spade when you bid a nil hand, unless you have no choice. To be fair, I have won many games because the computer opponent sometimes does this. But this glitch should be fixed.

Fun for Single Player. Love Spades! The computer isn't programmed to take bags into consideration. Multiplayer is very slow. Nice that it works in airplane mode (single player). I fly a lot & it gives me something to do! I really wish that the AI programming was better. If I play a game and specifically try only to get the tricks I bid, I lost about 80-85%of the games. I have to also play my AI partner hand to win. Also, if my AI partner and I are way ahead in a game, many times it seems as though my AI player “throws” the game. For example..bidding 6 tricks and taking 1-3 tricks. I can only assume it is to give the impression that the AI team is better programmed than it actually is!

Pretty good. I'm only a raw beginner, but the game plays smoothly, the graphics are quite good, and the opponents are good enough to beat me easily. The ad nag screens are mildly annoying, but it's a free game, so I can't complain too much.

Patience pays. This app is coming of age. It gives you a good game with fair distribution and not-too-stupid computer players. More stable now than previously.

cheats. Have been playing this for a while but getting a bit sick of the amount of ads and the fact opposition bids have no relation to the hands they play and the player to my left always seems to have the A to my K even when they have played a lower same suit card on the previous hand. 🤔

Look after your players. OK, you guys have great game apps, and we all know you need to moneterise your app, so we all put up with your paid adverts to play your above average games. Unfortunately it’s now getting to a ridiculous point where the time it takes me to click through your paid advertisement now takes so long that I AM CONTINUOUSLY BEING BOOTED FOR SUPPOSED INACTIVITY!. This means that my level rankings are decreasing due to,your stupid advertisements and algorithms. Fix it or your gone! It’s now getting even worse with ads appearing in the middle of game play so I can’t actually see what cards have been played and who and why the trick was won. Absolutely ridiculous. You have ruined what was previously a very good and entertaining game.

Good Card Game pitty about the adds. I am really enjoying this game i do like to be able to pick the level of play and opponents. At first i didn't understand the scoring but there is a link to a Wikia page that explains it. The adverts at the close of every hand is driving me nuts and for that reason the 3 stars today. In-ap purchases do not have an option to turn off advertising there has to be a way or I will have to give up and look for a game of spades without continual full screen adds.

Spades challenge. Challenging game. Enjoying it. I would like more choice in quality of partner and challengers.

Not a bad iteration of this classic. But I have to wonder about behind the scenes shenanigans, though. The oppponents always hit their bid targets, rarely going over or underbidding. Also, I can’t find a way to kill the ads. They cover the playing screen and it’s annoying.

Two Major Issues. Problem 1. Most of the players are impatient, aggressive, and often stupid to boot. If I don’t play exactly the cards they want they become abusive. Nobody can see others’ cards so how can they criticise how I play? Admittedly this isn’t the developer’s fault. Problem 2. And this IS the developer’s fault. The ads we are forced to endure between hands have become longer and longer to the point that by the time I get back my opponents are sending “hurry ups “ and even the system is saying “hey, it’s your turn “ I’m also sick of how slow the game is and the number of players who quit as soon as they miss their bids. I loved playing this game for ages but I have now deleted it. OK, rant over.

Option to play in non team mode. So playing single player results in you being teamed up with a "Smart AI" partner, who sometimes insists on bidding blind nil and giving it's team, meaning you, a 200 point penalty. Either increase the intelegence of the AI partner or give us the option of playing solo. (4 against 4)

Robot Surprise. This game of Spades is pretty good... Not a nasty place to be (most of the time) unlike some places I have played Spades... Biggest Surprise was to find the Robots pretty CLEVER, yep unlike other Robots on other sites... All in all am a happy Spade player... Wish the haha button wasn't there though... It gets used to laugh at another's misfortune and that I know is bad manners, and not nice... But that is my only criticism, and I understand I am a minority regards the haha.

Used to love this version of Spades. I play this game a lot, or used to. I have become increasingly frustrated by my so called ‘partner’ called Shark, recent updates have made them a very bad partner, playing high spade when I nil, when it is totally unnecessary to do so, and when they have a lower spade, leaving me exposed with a highish spade. I have written a few times to A Star, I get the same, standard, response ‘we’ll pass this on to the developers’ like hell they will😡 I have now, after 4-5 years, deleted this game. I also play their Euchre and Hearts, but if they go the same way as Spades, then they will be deleted also. Goodbye A Star

Too many Ads. I have played this game on this site for years and loved it, but not now. Since the new year I have been overwhelmed with ads, never before did I have ads. Support team have been trying to fix this and it has helped some, but still way to frustrating after every hand trying to get rid of the ads, I can now so not booted so often. But some how even my game name has been changed from Blue Jays to Daydreamer, how that happened I have no idea, didn’t even realize it for a few games. Also use to be if my tokens were gone in the Game Center I could log in with Facebook and play 10 games while my tokens built up again in the Game Center. That doesn’t happen any more, either game center or not at all.

Got kicked from rated game because of advertising. This is very bad. An ad came up between hands on a rated game and there was no option to leave the ad and go back to the game. This is BS and the developers of this game should be ashamed.

Partner Intentionally Loses. Very nice graphics and user interface, too bad the people building the playing engine were so incompetent. They had to resort to making your partner a double agent who sabotages your results. Card dealing is not random either. I finally deleted the app when my “partner” intentionally took a trick on a nil bid (I lead a 6, he played a 7 even though he had a 2).

Spades. OH this is so frustrating. For gawd sake. Fix the damn glitch that causes me not to get dealt cards after every other commercial. Happened twice in two matches This is ridiculous. Commercials are bad enough, but I tolerate them. But to then fail to entirely reconnect bac to the harm and deal me in. That’s a damn joke.

Games. Games are a therapy for boredom and it really works well for me. They free me away from negativity and stress.

Censorship. Sick and tired of being penalised every time I use a harsh word on chat when others are constantly criticising you and using much more graphic language. I’m tired of being treated like a preschooler.

Great game. I have been playing Spades for many, many years. While I have not tried all the other Spades apps I firmly believe this is the best. Especially playing and covering a nil bid. However as others had said there is one easily avoidable flaw - any one of the 3 A.I.s will randomly play a trump on its own nil bid when it could, and should, play a non-trump card. This is a real game downer and completely unnecessary. No human player would ever do that. I recognize these developers could create a program that would best any human regularly, but that is not what we want. We want the feel of playing with another person. However as mentioned above no human would intentionally play a trump to take a trick while playing a nil bid.

Great card game. The AI leaves something to be desired but otherwise the app works great and lots of other players.

Who is my real opponent?. This used to be a great game but something changed in the A.I. You may have a short streak of wins but then, no matter how good a player you are, you will lose repeatedly, not because of bad hands but because 1) your partner is playing against you, 2) you seldom get an opportunity to play a zero hand and when you do you have about a one in five chance of making it, and 3) if you play well your opponents will get as many zero hands as they require to beat you. Can’t you just give us random card deals and let the play take it from there? I’m done.

Unfair game set up. This game is so rigged!!! If you are playing people with lower average it gives opponents cards advantage. Not like Real spades!!!!! So unfair….your only as good as yr cheats!!!! CHEATS!!!!!!! Dont waste yr time!!! Pretty SAD!!!

Cheaters. So many cheaters on this game! And if you duck out too many times then you are out of the game and the cheaters stay in. Go figure! Very frustrating to say the least.

Dumb, dumb, dumb AI players.. To be called Artificial Intelligence players they first must be programmed with a at least a tiny bit of intelligence. They are not. Not by a long shot. Especially not for Spades. Learn the game before you program one so badly!!! THIS GAME SUCKS!!!

Unfair. Why is it when you win you or your partner are not scored the same? And why when you score it’s just a random number of points given it should always be 10 points given to both winners and yes the quitters should lose 50-100 points at a time maybe they would think about it more

Great Game, Annoyingly frequent ads. Love the games A-Star makes, but the ads in Spades (especially when compared the Euchre and Hearts) is WAY to frequent. It disrupts the flow of game play. After 1 game I’ve stopped playing and will search for another app.

Amazing game but stupid programming. The game is amazing and I enjoy playing it with computer but whoever did the programming doesn’t know how to play it right for example any time I bid for zero or blind zero, my partner would cut something with his hand ghost spades and falling short to cover me later in that game or he starts playing with his lowest suits?, it seems like your partner is playing against you most of times or he would get much more than he bid and puts me in trouble of collecting spare points that would lead us to lose 100 points later on as we play.

Offensive ads. Get rid of the slot ads that are not family suitable. “King’s Throne. Game of Lust “ is upsetting.

Lose points even if you win when quitting game. It’s not fair if a player who leaves a game stays at zero after they win after losing a game. No matter win or lose when leaving a game you should lose at least 10 pts or the whatever the calculated ratio.

Crapola. On the hardest setting my partner went nil, then about 4 hands in cuts with a spade when it had other cards to throw away. Wow

App frozen?. I can’t get the app to work. It is frozen since yesterday. I deleted it and reinstall. It is stuck...

Fun!!. Wish it would light up your hand or give some sort of signal when it’s your turn to play. This would take the guesswork out of it / prompt players & speed things up as occasionally games get hung up on people waiting on one another not realizing it’s their turn. And I wish there was an easier way to create games for a select group of friends without going into the roundtable. Other those two things, lots of players and games going at all times — excellent app!!

Fine for spades, but only fine. Shark is the absolute dumbest AI ever, and is always your partner if you are playing solo. It actively tries to bust your nil as its partner every now and then. For example, it will lead with a 2 or something else really low to make sure it doesn’t win with a hand and leave you to bust. Shark is a horrible bidder too. Even when the settings for it are set to conservative it generally under-bids by 2 or more until you get used to adding extra bids to your hand for Shark and then it will struggle to get 1 or 2 hands when it bid 3, or 4 or 6. Also, the other AI’s that play as your opponents clearly know what the other is holding and usually seem to know what’s in your hand. Those issues leave it frustrating to choose to play spades.

The only spades game app not following scoring rules. I researched spades rules and it stated under “scoring” that players are not penalized for failing to make their bid, you score zero. This app gives you a negative score if you fail to make your bid but rules state that it only applies to a nil bid. Example: My partner and I bid 8 total but we only get 7 books so we score zero. This app will score you -80! Not only is it wrong, it nearly doubles the length of time needed to complete a game. The only negative scoring under the rules is busted nil bid (-100) and sandbagging penalty (-100). Some apps allow blind nil bids which score 200, if successful, but -200, if not. I deleted the app because it is the only one that doesn’t follow basic scoring rules.

Awful partners but good opponents. Frustrating. Great game if you’re a beginner but if you play spades often and play well, then this is not the app for you. Your partner will consistently play over you, even though you’ll notice that they didn’t have to play that card. They don’t protect nil hands well either. On the other hand, it will seem like your opponents have been partners for years, covering each other nils beautifully and never trumping the other when they have clearly won the trick already. This game could be so good but will only happen if they improve the playing partner. They should have a characteristic setting for the partner that just says, “smart.” Unfortunately l, I’ll just keep playing candy crush until they come out with a better version.

Monkey business with blind nil. I believe the programmers have rigged the odds against someone bidding blind nil. The odds of getting the ace of spades on any random deal should be 1/4, right? It should be perhaps a bit less if blind nil bids happen more often when someone else bids a big number. However, after many many of my test blind nil “research hands” that I’ve tried to verify my suspicions, I am now certain: If you bid blind nil, the software is rigged to give you either the ace of spades, or both the king and queen (both certain death) WAY more than mere chance would dictate. Why do that, developers? Do you really feel it improves the app in any way for you to put your thumb on the scale?

Unfair Game. Please do not download this game. I noticed that many of the game algorithms are unfair and controlled by the developer. Some of the pattern observed are unnatural if it was truly random. For example, normally, whenever you have a fantastic hand then the next sequence of cars are typically poor (3 books including partner). I have also observed that once I started sending feedback about these unfair practices to developer then I went from having a hand where I could null from 1 in 3 hands to 15 games in a row with no opportunity to go NULL. This is statistically impossible. The developer likes to appear ethical by controlling game comments but have these corrrupt algorithms in exchange. Hopefully the developer work more on their character.

This game went downhill so badly. I used to like this app, but I think I hate it now. Sometimes the ads glitch out and make me have to close the game, they don’t refund tokens anymore when people quit, the computer players that replace people who quit are terrible and often detrimental, the ranked scoring makes no sense and progress is random instead of skill based (seriously, what’s the point of ranked games if progress isn’t based on skill?), and teammates can be so petty. I know the last one isn’t the developers fault, but a toxic player base can negatively impact a game and there’s some rampant toxicity in this game. The game I used to like is still here, but it needs a lot of work.

Love the game!. I should have given it four stars, because as much as I love the game, there are a few things that I dislike. I do hate the adds that can sometimes trap you s long that you are booted out of the game. It does take awhile to learn just how not to get trapped, but now it seems like they are changing how to close them out and get back to the game. You do need to keep in mind that you are playing with strangers and a few can be not so nice to put it mildly.

Lack of game options. I played spades for 5 years at a competitive level, so needless to say I’m very good at this game in real life. When you play at a high level, it’s all about being in sync with your partner. The AI partner in this game plays at the level of someone who knows the rules but has no understanding of strategy. The only way to fix this would be to train it like an actual AI, playing thousands of games against itself until it gets good. No amount of manual programming will make it good enough. I’m terms of multiplayer, I would love to see more options in terms of game rules. For example the number of bags, the penalty for bagging out, the game type (joker joker deuce ace, joker joker deuce deuce, ace high). Maybe even house rule options such as walking the two of clubs is game over. But mainly with multiplayer, a way to chat with your partner between hands. Maybe just one message each with a time limit, but if I could tell my partner to do certain things when I do certain things such as play your highest spade when I lead with a low spade, this game would be awesome.

Game is horrible. When you lose 89% of the time (their stats not mine) something is wrong. The AI players on the opposing team counts cards, knows what their partner has in their hand and knows what you and your partner have in your hand. Your AI partner is as dumb as a box of rocks, constantly over bidding their hand or cutting you out to make you lose the game. I have never seen a game even, with artificial intelligence so stacked against the player. Here’s a hint to the creators of this game if you want people to continue playing you might want make the game more realistic and stop the opponent AI from counting cards and knowing what their counterpart has in their hand. I will be deleting this game and urge others to look at different developers if looking for a more realistic version of spades.

Need to fix AI in multiplayer. Overall, great game. Does what it needs to do and does so efficiently. Devs can’t control poor sport or quitting players however, the AI needs to be fixed in multiplayer whenever a player does quit. It seems like every time my partner quits or lags out, the AI comes in and throws the game. E.g. bidding zero and throwing the queen of spades on a diamond lead three cards into the round.... or taking a trick with the king of spades when the AI is the last one to throw a card, then leading off with the 4 of spades at the start of the next trick... seems like if your partner leaves it then becomes 3v1.. it would drastically improve the game if this were addressed.

Server issues is only complaint. I love this game HOWEVER, even with a new cellphone, it freezes up a lot, and even kicks me out,and have-to get-back in This happens every 8-12 minutes, it’s more than frustrating. Fix your server or whatever it takes. As I said this is the only game this happens on, so not my phone or connection Again perhaps it became more popular than you expected, and got too much to handle smoothly however if continues, I’ll be forced to find another game.

Idiot partner!!!. The partner they give you is an ABSOLUTE IDOT!!! The opponents play very well, sometimes a little better than can be believed, but at least they play well. Just a small list of the ridiculous plays my partner has done. Bids 1 then leads with two Aces & a King. First trump is with the Ace Continues taking tricks with no chance of setting other team. Leads low spades causing me to lose trumps Leads low cards when I go nil. Plays high cards for no reason when I bid nil. Covers other team when they bid nil. Oh, opponents consistently cover near impossible nils. Example. I bid a few Opp 1 (to my left) bids nil Partner bids a few Opp 2 bids a few. 1st trick, I play a low club (I have the Ace) Opp 1 plays the King (I’m thinking he is set) Partner plays low Opp 2 trumps. What are the odds anybody would go nil with only one card in a suit that’s a King and at the same time the partner trumps. PLEASE! You can’t tell me they don’t know each other’s cards. This could be a Great game to play but instead it is very frustrating knowing it’s already set who will win. What a waste!

Bot Issue. I don’t enjoy playing on multiplayer, so using the bots is most of my use with this app. The gameplay is great, though you’ll definitely need to set your opposing team to the “hard” difficulty. The issue, though, is no matter how high the difficulty of your opposers, the bot on your own team remains horrible. On several occasions, the bot on my team has bid 0, yet played their highest trump on a trick in the beginning of the round! Then afterwards they’ll continue to try and win tricks, though having the option to lose them, despite already having several bags. It is incredibly infuriating and I will be looking for another app that doesn’t have this issue.

The Game CHEATS!. I love this game, but this app cheats the individual players. I can have a hand of no spades and all low face cards, and somehow a 7 of hearts will walk the board. Which means, if I bid 0 and the 7 of hearts walked, then I loose 100 points. Once, I bid 0 and my partner made his hand of 5, the other team bid 4 collectively. My team still lost the round because the app didn’t give us the bonus 100pts- essentially causing us to loose the game. I’m not sure if cheating is the standard issue for all levels, but it sure is for the hard level. Wish the app had an option to play as an individual and not as a team, because my partner is clueless most times, again, causing us to loose the game.

Worst AI Partners & Miscounting Books. This probably sounds like a review by a sore loser, but I promise it’s one of a frustrated player. The game is easily addictive but also very frustrating. The AI users are mostly not the greatest players. They either underbid or overbid, cut your plays, or simply just play poorly. They sometimes play as if they are your opponents. I guess it makes sense because you can’t win every time but it’s making me lose hair. Additionally, there are times that the computer is miscounting books. Either I won a book or my partner but the count doesn’t change. It happens often. The first couple of times I thought it was me, but now I have seen it too many times to know that it wasn’t me. My suggestion is if you are easily agitated or frustrated, then stay away.

Awesome Spades App!. I enjoy playing multiplayer, not the computer. However, it’s frustrating when people leave the game, (or stall so they get booted) because they have a bad hand or they think they are losing. I’ve had many times where I was behind in points, but managed to turn it around & win! I wish there was a penalty for people who quit, or allow themselves to get booted, because they are a poor sport!! I love this game & give it 5 stars! This is my favorite online game!!!

Ads don’t have an exit option so you are then booted from the game. I PAY for tokens on this app instead of using the free option and there have been multiple times after each round an ad comes up that doesn’t let you exit out of it. Since I can’t exit out of the ad I have been booted from multiple games due to the inactivity. I understand that there are ads, but why isn’t there an option to exit out of them? It wastes my tokens that I paid for and I can’t play the game that I signed up for. Some ads you can exit out of but others you cannot. This is really disappointing and I hope that the game developers get other complaints about this so that they will change it. This major inconvenience that costs me paid tokens have caused me to change to a different spades app. Really disappointed about this.

Fair. There are ad banners constantly displayed, which is fine. But then there are advertisements between hands that can be difficult to close and interrupt gameplay. This could be a good game. But dealing is very lopsided and unrealistic. Nine spades in a hand more than once. I’ve played a lot of virtual and real spades and don’t recall that happening. Then there are bad hands one after another. Real Spades is more skill than luck. The developers have decided to introduce more luck with their dealing algorithm. I made it to a ranking over 2100, which is supposedly over 90% for active players, yet my win percentage is just over 50%. The AIs are actually better than average. Overall I would not recommend if you are looking for something close to real Spades.

Great but a couple issues and possible improvements. Great game, but periodically some of my cards are blacked out when I play on the iPad. That’ll make bidding tricky. I also think when playing up to 250, it would make sense to have you go down in bags at 5 bags instead of 10, and to lose 50 points instead of 100. Bags are seldom an issue in rated games which makes it less strategic. I also would like a “my bad” chat option, some way to indicate that I realize I made a mistake. Though I’m guessing most of the bros I’m playing with won’t be utilizing that a whole lot. Overall, this is a great app and of course a great game.

The Worst AI Player Partner Ever. Computer players against you are great. Intelligent plays made by opponents. I guess the allure of the game is to be as frustrated as possible with your computer playing partner. AI partner is constantly getting set or way under bidding. My favorite so far was the computer bidding 1 with three aces and four spades. I also love it when you are sitting at 480 with 2 bags and computer goes nil for no reason (and fails). It is also almost impossible to give your opponents bags as your computer partner will be happy enough to collect them. I think the programmers are genius though. By making you AI player partner so inept (like going for nil at 480) it keeps you playing longer and you get to see more ads.

Ever play spades 3-1?. Good luck, your parter is just bad. Bad coding leads to bad logic. Partner always under bids or over bids and you can’t tell which. Don’t ever assume they use logic when you go nil because they won’t cover anything. I’d almost prefer to see my partner’s cards so I can bid for them. I had 7 hearts, 3 diamonds ( 2 low and the ace) and 3 spades (all low). Zero clubs. Easy Nil right? Nope, my partner leads and throws 3 diamonds in row!!! Like he’s trying to get me set 😂 a real person (or 1/2 decent coded computer) would see the ace hasn’t been played so it means the person who went nil probably has it, so throw anything other than a diamond and it will work. But no, can’t use logic in a card game based on logic. Wouldn’t recommend unless they release a major update with your partner.

Quitters paradise, odd developers. Won’t find a true competitive game here. 95% of the time a player will quit. Very rarely will a game be finished with all players. Odd people here. Go nil, don’t get it, quit….partner gets a bag or 2, quit. Etc etc. No repercussions to quitting is a problem. Kinda like a little kid with a hissy fit. You get banned here from chat by a player for whatever made up reason they want. Should be able to block players. You can invite friends to play with you. This exasperates the already cheating problem. Good players know when it’s happening, pretty obvious. It’s spades and it def happens. What’s the point? Don’t know if there’s another spades option out here, but I can tell you this AIN’T it. 4.8 on reviews is a farce….trust me. Look elsewhere.

Horrible computer partner play. I love spades have been playing this game my entire life. The computer that plays as your partner is horrible. The moves and plays that the computer plays make no sense. For example the computer on my last game. Help a Ace of hearts and did not play it when he could. Also the computer threw off instead of cutting a book and we ended up loosing the hand. It seems like the computer that plays with you is built and programmed to make you lose based on the bad decisions it makes. The computers you play against play extremely well make smart decisions. I would not recommend this game. You are better off playing with another human online. This game needs some serious improvements

Good game. Needs some tweaks. Firstly; I play this game almost every day. Love playing spades with real people. The apps works 99% of the time for me on my ipad2 no complaints. Please please add a voting feature to boot players who intentionally become sour losers and play so slow by using the 30 plus seconds to play their card. This is very annoying and if you abandon the game after first hand there is a penalty. A vote button would allow the other 3 people to force boot these poor sports and move on with game play. This is also useful for those folks who constantly bid 13 or nil just to ruin partners hand. It would also be nice if there was a Joker Joker Deuce version of play.

Best Spades Game on the App Store. I really like the game, it’s good that you can adjust the difficulty settings for the AI when you play against the computer and you can set how aggressively you want your AI partner to play so you can basically make it as hard or as easy as you want it to be. Multiplayer is also good but sometimes the people you are matched with like to trash talk and be toxic but you can just turn the chat off if you don’t want to see it. All in all I like the app a lot and would definitely recommend it.

Worst partner EVER. Why does the partner bid one so much when it clearly has 3-4 books every time? Especially towards the end of the game? Even at the aggressive setting, the partner isn’t as smart as Watson and Qweenpin. Also, once we clearly make our books, why does the partner keep the highest cards in his hand versus throwing them off to prevent the MANY over books in his hand that he NEVER bid? The other computer players tend not to do that, just the partner. Also, the partner will bid a zero with an ace or high card in his hand. There is NO way for it to have zero books with an ace or a king in the hand. If I set it at not so aggressive, the partner bids 1 pretty much every hand with at least 6 spades in hand. SMH. Other than that, it would be fun!

Trash app. This app is so sensitive I got permanently chat banned yippee for a trash can emoji after getting 4 consecutive hands with no face cards , then i got banned from changing my screen name lol hilarious then they use your real name on there then you have to contact them to take it off then the force these weird random names if you delete app and download it again lol so rediculously sensitive if this app is for children let it be known , if this app is for grown people put an age requirement . It won’t surprise me to one day when im looking for a good game and see everybody in the app is chat banned for a name The good thing is there’s alot of other good apps out there and better To the developers of this app I say come on get it together you had a good thing going When did you become so controlling.

Needs improvement. I love spades but really despise this game. To be specific, I despise the fact that you can have a 2300 score and then lose 50 of your next 60 games and now I’m a mid 1800? Ridiculous! Then in a few weeks you’ll probably win 15 out of 20. Just when it seems somewhat consistent the bottom drops out and you lose lose lose. You’ll start getting crappy hands over and over and over and over again. You can’t tell me there isn’t a glitch or some issue with that many big swings of the pendulum in either direction. I’ve deleted a few times because of this and am about to delete for good. I’ve been giving it a chance for years.

Fun When working. Good layout but poor quality. Regular game bugs preventing play to occur especially with the ads between hands. Many glitches prevent getting back to gameplay resulting in being booted from game. Expect to lose around 10-15% of hands due to this. Also, clear fixed games. Winning and losing tend to occur in waves. Losing streaks over so many hands making it impossible to win are too many to be random. Winning streaks are the same where hands are given the game away too easily. Rare to have games played out due to skill. Once a player is booted, probably due to glitch or just giving up, the replacement AI is too easily abused to disadvantage the remaining player. The deck is always stacked in this program.

Serious problems. The main problems with this game are: 1) If you have a run of bad luck (bad luck, stupid own bids, paired with morons) it’s difficult to regain your rating. Because the lower you get, you end up getting paired with even more morons and they end up tanking your game. 2) When you get paired with one of these numerous morons, and they end up bidding nil on a hand that will obviously get them at minimum one bag, that moron screwed your game more often than not, and you typically can’t come from behind, or you lose it at the end. So the obvious rule change here would be for the person who dips out of the game early to not win any points, and lose all the points.

AI is trash. Overall game is pretty good but the AI is horrible. They can never bid their hand correctly so I can never judge if I should go over or under mine so we don’t get bags. Sure offline play probably isn’t the focus but I play it as it’s faster and more convenient than online play. I’ve been playing this game for about 3 years and the AI has been very hit or miss. Even the opponent AI can’t bid their hands right. If you bid 1 and end up with 6 obviously something is wrong. It’s very infuriating when I can bud my hand perfectly but my AI partner only made 1/4 because they don’t know how to play the game.

Fun but can be better. I play often but I hate going to the casual games because people are nasty and there is no way to report the harassment. Also- the game glitches and won’t let a player who “leaves”/quits the game to be removed easily. This is literally happening right now and the reason I decided to write this review. Been sitting for 5 minutes so far waiting for the app to remove a player that left the game and there is no method for me or the other players to boot them to continue the game in the rated room. I still play, it is fun, but the unmonitored rude behavior and the glitches make it less than fully enjoyable

Ads!!!!!!!!!. These ads are AGGRESSIVE and annoying!!! They COMPLETELY take over my online games and won’t let me return to the game!!! I get booted out of online games CONTINUOUSLY by others because of inactivity…because the ads won’t allow me to return to the game!!!!! It hasn’t always been like this. I used to be able to exit out of the ads. The last few times I’ve played, I no longer am given the option. Fix this SOON!!!! Also, the AI players ALWAYS run Spades without logic. That needs to be fixed too!!

Partner from hell!. Your partner in this game will make you lose over and over and over! It’s really you against 3. It makes the stupidest card choices. Bags like hell. And if all else fails, it will call deuce and play the high card to trump a round even tho it has a few lower cards. If you have called deuce, it will lead with a 5 or a 6 even tho it has aces. It’s just your worst enemy. And no matter which partner type you chose in the settings, you will wanna erase this god for saken app every time you play. F- for sure!

Great App, with one huuuge bug issue. I love this game. Play it frequently. However, in recent months, some of the ads that come up mid-game between hands don’t have an X to ever close them. The ads literally can’t be closed without hard-closing the app altogether. I’ve been timed out of 5-10 games because I simply couldn’t close the ad. Don’t know how a silly issue like this even happens, but needs to be fixed ASAP. It’s the ads for other game apps that give a large green PLAY NOW button on the bottom right corner. Games are a gem blaster and a card concentration memory type of game. Please fix. Thanks!

Not very realistic. Just deleted this app from my devices and won’t go back. I made a comment a few weeks back that the AI players continue to play unrealistically to the weaknesses in your hand. In other words, it’s like playing a real game, with real players that KNOW what cards are in your hand and you don’t know what is in theirs. For example, the last game I played (which will be the last game I play for this developer) my AI partner bid Nil. Then, the player to my right kept leading with low spades and the player to my left didn’t cut me to take the point so my partner kept having to play spades until it took the hand. I’m sorry, when the opposing team bids a combined 9, regardless whether the other team has a Nil bid, they will take as much as they can. Not purposely cause themselves to be set by feeding books to the opposite teams. That’s not realistic play. At least not in the 45 years I’ve been playing spades. It just isn’t fun when you have to try and make up for the bias in their algorithms. So, if you’re ok playing like that, this is for you. I want realistic play and there are other apps that offer it.

Feedback. A few suggestions... - If someone bids nil or 10+, have the system do a quick check to see if that is even possible. If it isn’t, don’t allow the bid and then kick them out of the game. They are probably just being a jerk to their partner. You could even have the system keep track of how many times they do this and then prevent them from playing for 1 day after bidding an outrageous amount and then losing by a significant amount. - Give more “speech” options. I understand needing to limit to avoid table talk but I think you could allow some more options.

Spades +. I enjoy playing this game. I play mostly solo games against the computer and in mediumI was winning 75% of those. I wanted more challenge so switched to hard level. The only difference I’ve seen, (although My winning is only about 50%), is that the system of making it harder was Totally dumb down the partner bot. The bot will under bid taking as many as four bags for a number of hands and then all of a sudden over bid and set for as many as four hands in a row. Couldn’t you just make them all smarter?

Spades. I love this app, it lets you edit your characters and I always pick my cats. You can change their settings as well. Also let’s you change your card display, the back and front of the cards. Tho I must say when I play spades with my brothers we always switch two cards with our partners. Makes it easier to nill, like I could give my partner a king and still have a queen of the same and it really helps things play out. But I still love it. Makes it more of a challenge this way.

Find another spades game!. The functionality and aesthetics of this game are great. However, they incorporate algorithms that take winning and losing out of your control, and it is very obvious, because it happens every 100 games. Your winning % will fluctuate astronomically because the developers designed it this way in order to incorporate more parity among players. Its incredibly annoying and obvious. E.g., you will be matched up with high caliber partners and be given favorable hands for the majority of the 100 game span and then the next 100 games it will be the exact opposite; I.e., you cannot find a good partner to save your life and every hand is slightly in your opponents’ favor. I recommend finding another spades game unless these developers change this.

Fun if you only want to play against the computer. The game itself is fun, solid game with minimal ads, but there are two multiplayer modes and neither is worth playing. Casual mode has no rating system so players are not incentivized to stay and play. The first time a team has a bad hand someone invariably leaves. The rated game fix this issue but you can only play games to 250 points and are not allowed to bid blind nil which means that games are too short, lasting only 4-5 hands. This typically means most bags don’t matter in games which takes a lot of the fun out of it. It’s a shame because it’d be such an easy fix to allow lobbies or players to set game parameters for rated games. It’s a shame because the game is good otherwise as I said

AI player is horrible. I play the single player version of this game, so I rely on an AI partner. Like other reviews, I’ve seen erratic and inexplicable behavior from the AI, particularly when I bid nil. It will often play a low card (7-9) when it is holding an Ace or King of the same suit, causing me to win the hand and therefore lose 100 points. At other times it will win an unnecessary hand at the end of a game, which prevents the opponents from picking up overage points, leading to their winning the match. It has gotten so frustrating that I have stopped playing the game - this behavior has gotten worse in the last month or so. It’s as though the developers are intentionally making the AI player dumber over time. FIX IT!

The best but.... I’ve played my share of spades apps for years, back to Pogo. This is definitely one of the best, but if you can’t pick partners in rated games you definitely need to be able to ban some. Some people just can’t play, they are just jerks who bid 13, or they just quit because they think you made a bad decision. It can be majorly frustrating. The ability to see the last trick taken would also be nice. Also I’d really like to see a 500 and no double rated. 250 has quite a bit more luck. 2 good hands and the game is done. 500 and getting exact bids is more important since bags come into play. Just give the option to create a ban list and this goes from 1 to a 5. Also I’d love to see some more pre written phrases in the rated games. “Nice Nil,” “Thanks,” “lol,” “I could play better with the AI,” “WTH.”

App Forces Users to Click on PayPerClick Ads. App forces users to open pay per click ads by fraudulent “skip ad” buttons between rounds. The skip ad button is extremely small and if you aren’t using a fine-tip stylus or have infant size fingers you are forced to go to open the website. Even when you exit the site and go back to skip the ad, the ads continue to force users to go to sponsors websites until the user positions the stylus or finger perfectly over the skip ad button. This should not be a difficult task to skip an ad unless the app creator and marketing company are intentionally trying to monetize off of forcing their users into pay per click ads.

Spades app review. I really like the Spades AI version. I rarely play the multiplayer version because folks tend to leave, and/or play too slowly. I have had a couple of occasions to email the developers. Without fail I have received prompt, courteous replies. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is twofold: 1. there’s a random ‘glitch’ where a spade gets played by the person bidding nil, for no reason, which then sets the nil - which is a bummer - 2. when I’m bidding nil (e.g.) too often my partner will play a high spade before I’ve played to trump a trick, which can (and has) led to my being set in a subsequent trick. My partner could easily have trumped w/a low spade and saved the higher one for when I could have thrown off a mid-level spade. Overall, I really enjoy this game. I’ve played spades for 40 years. They’re doing an overall excellent job.

Enjoy the game but need more penalties for quitters. I really love this game. The part of the game that I don’t enjoy are the people who quit so quickly. Every game I play almost one person in the mix quits because of the bad hand. The reason that I feel that it’s so easy for them to quit is because there really isn’t much penalty to quitting. I would really recommend putting something in place to where their rating changes a bit more drastically by quitting. I’ve seen people quit and because their partner ended up winning they did not lose any points at all from their rating. Definitely needs to be A penalty of some sort automatically just for quitting the game.

Game is fun, app is buggy and needs better rating system. Game itself is fun and playing interface is simple and easy to use. It does have many bugs, for example, I frequently get stuck on an ads page and. Any get back to the game and eventually get booted for timing out. Also my connection drops now and then and I there’s no time grace period to go back into the app, it automatically kicks you out of the game and rates you as dropping. Also seem to get paired with partners 5% of the time who purposely lose when they get frustrated. Bid 0 and start leading an ace. Or bidding 7 and pulling 1. Ive used the report function but I’m not sure it does anything and certainly doesn’t do anything to fix the rating impact.

My Partner on the computer. I feel overall the programming of the partner is good, however, here are some considerations: 1. If I have an Ace and Queen (some suit) and it’s my play (my objective would be to play the Queen. If my partner has the King (in the same suit) he does not need to play his King (I’m trying to split). It’s programmed to play the King. I realize that in some instances, I may play the Queen and I may not have an Ace but partner should not play his King unless it’s his only card. 2. Partner cuts when my card is good. He is not trump tight. If I’m keeping up with past cards, I know the programming is keeping up. I don’t mind if the other players cuts. I have lost many hands because of the above.

Cheaters ruin it. Pay for coins twice now in one month, and immediately enter long time losing streak. Even had a guy bail the the robot replacing him lost. Can you say rigged??? This is a good game. Unfortunately it is so overwhelmed with cheaters and idiots, it ruins the fun. People create fake accounts and deliberately lose when partnered so the real account can win (happens often). Or idiots bid nil expecting partners to cover a hand that’s better than you have. It’s insane. It happens over and over again. Something to work on to make the game fun for those who just want to come in and play a good game. I left once before for this reason. I came back a few months ago and nothing has changed. Hope you fix it before legitimate users refuse to play.
