NOTE: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Though PRO CHARTS™ will function without a GPS as a chart reader, a GPS-enabled device is required for point-to-point navigation. Third-party Bluetooth GPS units are available to enable GPS for iOS devices such as WiFi-only iPads that do not include a GPS receiver. For offline use where no Internet connection is available, charts must be pre-cached while still on-line and connected, any charts downloaded while online will be available for offline use.

What I wanted was simple chart for my phone. But they kept adding more and more stuff and now it cumbersome and expensive. So what I got was ripped off
I think the last couple of reviews I read were written by people with no boating experience. This app is great. It absolutely works the way a marine navigation plotter should. I did experience some issues when trying to sync my iPad data with my iPhone data. The crew (Jay) at Miratrex responded so fast it was like talking on the phone. All of my issues were resolved. And then they changed the feature to prevent any further problems in the future. If you boat and fish as much as I do you will appreciate having this app.
How the f am I supposed to navigate with a straight line across land??? I right my boat has wings and can also fly. I guess I should have thought of that. Thanks for nothing you compete morons. Got me lost out at Lake Powell with my family. But. It to worry Google Maps got me back to me house boat safely. Your app seriously put my family in danger. I created a way point once I parked my house boat. Your app proposed a straight line getting back to it across land. I'm getting a refund for your stupid app and probably be suing your pants off. So stay up late and worry about that.
Can't navigate with a straight line , there would be a serious issue with my boat and lift at that . Looks like it took a lot of time to build the app but it lacks the whole point of using it .
Don't waste your time or money on this garbage!!!! Totally useless!!!
The app is trash . I downloaded a year ago. Saw it was junk asked to have a refund . And come to find out I'm still being billed a year later ... don't waste your time or money on this trash
Unable to sign in after purchasing. After 20 attempts, app updating, resets, hard restarts, and no way to contact developer I wrote my first ever 1 star review.
First off the app did get me where I need to go but not without some major difficulties. I paid for the service and it won't even let me log in! Waste of money!
I am new to boating and this app worked as expected. Waypoints worked, maps are detailed, depths, and extras.
This app is terrible! I could never log into my account to use the features of the subscription! Every time I put in my user/password it would just keep "thinking" and never log in. And the little status bar would keep spinning, trying to log in, when I went back to the chart screen. And for some reason I could not cancel the subscription either for a while. The auto renew button would not move. It kept charging me monthly but I was not able to use any features. Finally turned off auto renew and deleted the app.
Over the past few months I have tinkered with several charting apps available ranging from free to upwards of $30 and I have come to the conclusion that simple charts is by far the easiest to use and most complete app available. The app is the perfect compliment to my onboard system and functions smoothly as I go in and out of cellular or Internet service. As the name indicates is fairly easy to operate and the learning curve is low as I compare it to most of the others. The feature set is much more than I anticipated and caters very well to my needs. The documentation is on the light side but I found the FAQ section useful, the support email allowed me to contact the developers and get the remaining questions I had answered. I was pleasantly surprise at the quick turnaround on the email and the tone and level of detail provided led me to believe they actually cared. highly recommended.
Good usable app to study before heading out with paper charts/chart plotter
So far so good.A little slow on map views but good. :)
It won't upload the stuff I put in it! And put its own longitude and latitude!
These charts show land on the South Louisiana coast that have been gone now for over 20 years!!! This app was a waste of money FOR ME.....
Used this app to find my way to a duck blind on the Currituck Sound, in the middle of the marsh, in the dark. Even with poor cell service this chart updated well enough to be very accurate. I agree with other reviews, that the location dot should be an arrow showing heading but otherwise a great app. I would recommend to friends.
I highly recommend buying this app. It is a great way to get a quick fix with GPS on your phone. I have two requests though. 1. If I try to save a track it stops when my phone goes to sleep and then you lose a portion of your trip. I wonder if there is a way to keep recording. 2. --This one is Apple's fault-- When we still had Google maps the satellite image overlay was from low tide(around Hilton Head, SC). Unfortunately Apple's satellite images are at or near high tide. It was nice when you could actually see sandbars in addition to the depth markings since they do shift. I wrote Apple, but maybe if more people complain it will get fixed.
Very impressed with the app. We have taken it along on a handful of trips down the ICW from southern VA to Key Largo. The instruments panel including location, speed, distance, etc has matched my garmin installed onboard in every instance that they were side by side. Love the detail in the raster charts rather than the electronic charts on the garmin much more appealing to look at. My wife and I really enjoyed the course export functionality that allowed us to share our course with friends which has come in handy. Really like the app and have already gotten more than $10 worth of enjoyment out of it. Hopefully the developers will continue to add new features. We requested several features which we would find useful and think others on the water would as well. They stated that they would be adding these features to a list of enhancements they have planned so time will tell if they get added.
The charts won't update on the screen sometimes.
The program runs ok, but few improvements may make it much better. Instead a ball as a boat position it should be an arrow pointing int direction the boat is heading. Also tides should be a help. For some reason, one cannot enlarge the chart, instead the sat picture comes instead. ( if I want to navigate on water, I do not need a sat picture, but precise charts- ie one that is enlarged) Over all it is all right for the money spent, but definitively could be improved
