Solid. Have used this app for ears now, mostly when hiking in the mountains, and many times in places where I don’t even get service and it has been very reliable.

Stop working on iOS 13. This app worked great for a while and now crashes when the Barometer is selected or the settings button is selected. Can’t update the version if it needs updating since all it does is crashes. Developer’s support page is not in English so that isn’t any help either.

Altimeter face. It would be great if it was like a standard aviation altimeter one hand showing hundreds one hand showing thousands. Though it Is very useful 👍

Had it for years. Living and driving around in the rockies between 5-14k ft. Whip this out every now and then for various uses. No qualms here.

Any more updates?. WatchOS keeps reporting this app will no longer work with Watch OS5. I hope the developer continues to give it the love it deserves. A great app.

Works great. Simple and easy to use. Works everywhere on the planet, just needs GPS signal. Quick and very precise latitude and longitude readouts.

One suggestion. Nice addition to the Apple Watch. Can you add a complication so that elevation can be seen on the main watch face?

Unusable in daylight. Please, for the love of god, provide the ability to set the background color! I can’t believe that the developers ever used this in the outdoors. Dark blue on a black background is completely invisible outdoors making an otherwise excellent app absolutely worthless in real world applications. Unless you’re in a darkened cockpit that would already have an altimeter. I had to delete it and use an inferior product that I could use.

Nice app.. Needs to self calibrate using gps automatically. The watch app asks me to enter the correct elevation every 24 hours. That's why I opened the app! I want to know the elevation not tell some app what the elevation is! As it stands I have to use another app to tell this app what it's elevation is. :( also PLEASE support inches of mercury for US customers. Consider changing the calibration to known mmHg/inches since we can gain this data locally. Thanks for the great app!

Dial does NOT point as a real altimeter does.. Disappointed ! Nice to calibrate MBs in App, but needles pointing in the wrong place will disappoint the pilot in you. Even a MS Flight Simulator gamer will tell you this huge error.

Great and accurate. One suggestion. Great app. Only one suggestion. Make the data available to the Apple Watch complications. It would have been great to see my altitude on the main display of my watch instead of having to open the app every time.

Above Ground Level. Is there away to set the app up to show feet above ground level which would help when I am flying PPG? Same for the watch?

Accurate. Pressure altitude is always more reliable than GPS. This app is simple and easy to look at. It’s also very accurate. Only thing I wish it had was a GPS speedometer and it would be a great paraglider app!

Couple recommendations. This is easily the best altimeter app but I’m not sure it is being supported. It would be nice to see an updated version (no updates in 3+ years) Would like to be able to use it in iOS live activity so I can see it when my iPhone locks. I love the app when I can read it (which is most of the time) when it is bright outside it is difficult to read. The dark background is the only option. that allows you to change from black to white.

Barometer calibration every 24 hours???. Why? Can we please extend this?

Almost perfect. This has been my go to altimeter app for years. I recently got a new Apple Watch and have found my only complaint. There is no way to add this app as a complication on the watch face. Adding this functionality would bring this app back to perfect for me.

Simple and reliable. It’s simple and works well. The only improvement that would be nice is if it could be set using pressure altitude.

50/50. This altimeter is ok but it only gives a sea level altitude. This app would get 4 stars of a rating from me if one could set it to either AGL and or for Sea level. A Kollsmen window and Barber pole would earn it 5+ stars

Want to love his app. It is accurate and great to look at. But it is a power hog. Drained my Apple Watch3 battery in part of a day. Now I turn it on to take readings and then turn it off. Hoping the developer will improve power consumption.

Complications don’t work on new watch faces. I bought this app to get altitude on a watchface. It turns out that the app needs to be updated to get complications on the new watch faces. Please update.

Quick, stable, and accurate. It will register a change in altitude of 3 feet. Hold it at waist level, one reading. Raise it over your head, read out increases 3 feet. I find that astonishing.

Needs Apple Watch complication support... But otherwise a great app!

Simple & Helpful. I use this only with iPhone 7 and works perfectly. If I’m driving in mountains I sometimes check with posted elevation signs and agreement very close. Thanks!

Dependent on iPhone!!. I was under the impression that this app would be independent from my iPhone 7 but NO you do need to turn on Bluetooth for it to work with the Apple Watch . What is the purpose of this app when you need your phone close by....am I missing something here? I was deceived first hand when I downloaded this app for .99cents and now I feel like a sucker....don't download this app if you want the Apple Watch to be independent from your phone !!

One problem. Bought it as an Apple Watch 4 complication for the Infograph face. Unfortunately it is not available as a complication for this face. Please fix. It’s available as a complication for older faces though. The app itself looks good on the phone and on the watch.

Not worth paying for. Adds nothing you can’t already get from the free compass that comes with iPhone or Apple Watch, and it prompts you to “calibrate” every day.

Solid app. Does what it should with reasonable accuracy.

Apple Watch 5 Complications?. Great looking app but bought this to use as complications on my watch .. not seeing any way to do this. Am I wrong?

Fantastic! Best app of it's kind available.. I love the real altimeter look. Very accurate.

Issues. Plus or minus 10ft does not work well when you live at or near sea level. They should tell you this before purchase.

Handy app as long as you are connected. My darling wife got this app for me. We live 17' above sea level so it came in handy during last months trip to the Rockies. It was accurate when we drove up Mt. Evans. But in the Tetons, reception was intermittent -- also on the airline. Still, an interesting tool to have.

Most accurate altimeter I've found. Been using my Watch for altitude information when flying my ultralight aircraft and found other GPS altitude apps to be completely inaccurate and not precise at altitude. Using the barometric function with Altimeter+ has been incredibly accurate. I used it for a flight this morning and 15 hours later at a known elevation, I'm basically right on with the baro altimeter.

Calibrating. I’d like to have the immediate option to go straight to the GPS for calibration the calibration on the I-watch needs to go straight to GPS for calibration // sidenote the iwatch calibration is very slow

Good for real estate appraisers. I appraise real estate in some very rural and out of the way places in the west where high altitudes are important to know. This app is easy to use but needs to be calibrated occasionally when pressure changes with weather changes (sometimes that’s a challenge).

Great App!. Surprisingly accurate! We live in CO and use it all the time on mountain passes.

Annoying display and poor accuracy. The dial altimeter only has 1 hand, so it’s only accurate to the hundreds position. Instead of smoothly incrementing up and down, one digit at a time, the digital altimeter spins wildly, in one direction only, like a slot-machine, making you think it’s broken. You cannot tell at a glance, whether you are ascending or descending. ...you have to wait for the slot-machine to stop spinning to see whether your altitude is higher or lower than the previous reading.

This app is a scam. I have an Apple Watch 4 and this app is not show in ANY complication of ANY of the watch’s face’s. It doesn’t not deliver what the seller promises then. Do not purchase. I am running iOS 5.2

Very poor installation and user experience. A complete hack job of an app. Will not correctly install on watch 5 with cellular. Many circular error messages. No english language support. Barometric pressure at US airports is in inches, and no way to enter the local pressure to calibrate. Watch says “Requires iPhone. Please launch “altimeter plus” on iphone to complete setup. Did that. Nothing. Dead end. Deleted. Reinstalled. Both on phone and watch. Nothing. Phone app will not function until both phone and watch are rebooted. Serious pairing problems. Watch app will not work without phone.

nice looking. It has a cool look, like an old, analog aviation altimeter. Unfortunately it does not work and the interface is unfathomable garbage. It wants calibration, and I know my current barometric in inches of Hg, but it does not seem to know that is, nor have a decimal to enter the measurement any closer than the nearest whole number. Two free ones I downloaded work great, while this one is shiny garbage. It should be easier to get a refund when when buying something that is clearly just fraud. This thing is a wooden nutmeg.

AGL. I like this app. I would like to see an enhancement allowing the user to zero current altitude and provide AGL (above ground level altitude. )

No complications for Watch 4. Nice app and watch app but was hoping for complications for watch faces. Seller doesn’t explicitly say it is available but it should be for a paid app.

Use it every day. I use this app every day. I’m a Ham Radio Operator. I use the app to find my elevation when operating in my car to find the best location. The higher the better. I find this app to be very accurate.

Needs updates. App is great but it hasn’t been updated for the iPhone X and it doesn’t work on the Apple Watch without having the iPhone present. The new Apple Watch has a barometric altimeter and GPS built in so no need to be tethered to a phone to function.

Apple Watch. It’s frustrating that every time my watch’s face turns off the altimeter reading resets and takes a while for it to give you the actual altitude!!

inaccurate. I do't know whether this is the app's fault or my iPhone, but it is consistently off by 200' according to local benchmarks

BRILLIANT👍👍👍. So far so good. I can't fault this app. It's precise and easy to use. I haven't had the opportunity to test it on known altitudes but I have no reason to think it isn't accurate- I tested at sea level (the beach and nearby) and it was spot on. The map is a great idea and has features like any good map app. IMHO this is a useful and accurate app that does what it says and more. IF ONLY ALL APPS AVAILABLE IN 'The App Store' were so good and relevant. Big kudos to the devs and thank you. Sincerely, Paulo

Almost there. I'd give this app 5 stars . . . if the GPS part worked. While other apps I use have no trouble receiving GPS data this one constantly informs me that the GPS signal is too weak to be used. I hope the developers can sort this out soon. I will update my review of the app when the issue has been resolved.

Waste of moula. What a waste of money. -gps, aster and barometric pressure all show different altitude readings. -the dial sometimes works -there is no compass -there is no actual barometric pressure readings(kpa etc), only altitude. -had to update software on watch to use and then it said the app needs to be updated to work on the next watch update. Don’t bother people.

App doesn't open. So I've paid for the app and loaded it but it won't install onto the watch. Try another app.

Fantastic App. Absolutely fantastic app and hugely useful for a trekker like myself that needs a quick and accurate fix on altitude when trekking at high altitudes in order to work out altitude acclimatisation days on remote treks. Just a quick note that formatting has been messed up for iPhone 11 in the latest update but I’m sure this will be resolved quickly.

Alt not good.. I bought this app only to skydive using my Apple watch and its not accurated at all. I know I didnt pay much for it but it does not do its job. Unhappy with the purchased.

Unit of measurement. How do I change the UOM from meters to feet?

Excellent app. The latest 'aviation' graphic version just downloaded is brilliant. Do not change it. Overall, very accurate and the option of ASTER and GPS readings is good. ASTER provides ground level elevations regardless of your actual location, say in a tall building. GPS will give actual height of your location when above ground level. The three map presentations are also very useful. The 'real time' view it great when walking or hiking with the adjustable scale grid. Would recommend to anyone looking for an altimeter app.

Solid as mountain rock.... And I know because I had the rare opportunity to put this app head to head against it's yellow faced competitor in the mountains. Doesn't seem to burn data in either mode (tested in airplane mode) and registered quickly (the 2 modes varied by ~2m as indicated) The graphics are on theme and totally cool and complimentary. The added home screen info (map access and Lat. & Long.) were welcome and not intrusive. The only niggle would be to use some more vertical blank space by elongating the numbers and soften the shadows for increased legibility. We were on the move and could only briefly glance at the screen. The competitor (whose name shall not be mentioned) was more legible EVEN though it had a smaller type size. This is only an issue at high speeds with turbulent bump - but it would also tighten up the interface a little especially given that iPhone 5 has even more real estate than my 4s. ( For all I know, they will add more data to the home screen because of the extra i5 real estate - just please don't put banner ads there!) Really a 4.5/5 but we can't award 1/2 stars so a niggle costs a whole point!

Will not be supported in next os. Just purchased this app, wanting to use it for hiking, first time i start it on my watch, I get the message that it will not work with the next OS, which comes out in 3 days. Such a waste of money. I immediately regret this purchase. I guess that’s why it “on sale”.

Complication. Just downloaded - great so far! Question - it shows a complication available in the watch app however I cannot find it in the list when customizing a face. Can a complication for this app be shown? Edit - complications can be added to older watch faces. Would be great if the app was updated to have the complications work with the new faces. Edit 2 - currently the calibrate barometer function only works with the GPS. You can not manually enter a number - the keyboard does not appear.

Was good.. I worked well until the last iOS update to my iPod touch. It no longer works.

No good above ground. Took on an aircraft (not over 10,000') and does not work on either mode when airborne. Complete failure when cell coverage is lost.

Altimeter+. Love this app. Works as claims and is really easy. I have used in US and in the wilds of Hungary. Lat and long were really accurate when I checked locations on map. Altitude when I check at home is always within range. Would recommend to my friends.

Does what it says it does.. Quick and sufficiently accurate for my purposes. It's also stable which is more than I can say for several recent apps.

Altimeter broke w/Upgrade to 1.2. UPDATE: Replaced my 3G w/ 4S and app works fine. Still doesn't work with the 3G. Currently using an iPhone 3G. Just upgraded from version 1.1 to 1.2 and the altimeter broke. Everything worked great with version 1.1 (5 stars). Digits are now all super imposed on themselves (not in the correct columns). Also does not display correct altitude always starts with 2202 ft which doesn't change when altitude changes. Please fix.

Incredibly Well Done App. Altimeter+ is an exceptional application and every aspect is well done. It's works very well as an altimeter as well as providing an excellent user experience through it's creative interface. Well worth the time and money. Great app!

Just a few bugs. For one, I've never know GPS to be accurate for altitude, but the Aster mode is quite accurate. A bug is that every time you turn it on to do a measurement it will show the altitude of the last place you used it. Just tap the word "aster" and it will measure accurately. I like this toy.

Excellent App. I live in the eastern mountains. Lots of ups and downs. This app is within only a few feet of an expensive hiking GPS, and an expensive auto GPS. I do a lot of hiking and I enjoy having this app.

So far so good '. Have been using this app for about two weeks. Hiking in the Olympics & using the altimeter has helped me keep track of elevation gain & loss. This was something I've wanted to track for quite some time but didn't want to buy another piece of equipment. This app suits my needs perfectly!

Doesn't work with new watch ios. Paid a buck and it isn't compatible with the most current apple watch iOS. Could be great

Works as advertised!. Used it in the Sierra Nevada's for ten days. Worked great and matched the peak elevations on my map every time to within 20 feet or so. Works when no internet or cell phone coverage is possible.

Excellent. Use it biking and have found it to be consistent and accurate. I also gave used it driving and found accuracy within a few feet of posted signs. Great tool. Wish it had a setting to bypass powersaver so I could mount it to the bike or dashboard. The only problem I experienced was with below sea level locations in the California desert where instead of +10 to -100 (feet) altitudes I went from +10 to a consistently strange reporting of +700ft when I should have been somewhere between -20 and -100.

To the guy who said he wasted his $. The description says it us accurate within 10m. So your reading off by 30 feet fits right in his claims. Also aster is more accurate Then gps concerning elevation. Can't stand when people leave negative reviews when the app does everything it claims to.

Fantastic upgrade, and free for existing users!. I have used this Altimeter app for a few years now. I have been very happy with it throughout; it has come in quite handy while traveling, hiking, and more. This new version is even better! I am very impressed: The interface has been completely redesigned, and functionality has been added, but I was able to figure it out in two minutes. I love the needle-based UI as well… very intuitive once you get used to it. If you’re an aviator of any kind, you’ll feel even more comfortable. This app is completely worth the (small) cost. Highly recommended!

Nifty app. I don't use the app much but it was the best of all that I have tried. The aster doesn't seem to work that often so I use the gps more. I plan on getting readings form the bottom to the top of the lifts at the resorts I board at. Hopefully if the gps isn't accurate it will be the same error at both locations so it won't matter. Otherwise it is kinda cool to know about how high you are.

Mind the Feet/Meters Switch. Guys, please update! ... also your reviews. ;-) Please note the top left meters/feet switch. That should explain your problem "JY/Wildhorse". Altimeter+ has no influence over the quality of the GPS signal. Please check in the Maps app first, before leaving infavorable reviews.

Altimeter app is very useful and accurate!. I use this app regularly while back country skiing in the Wasatch Mtns of Utah, and also climbing in the Tetons. It is very accurate when compared to known summit altitudes, and is an excellent navigational aid. Paired with the aneroid altimeter on my watch it is sometimes helpful in weather prediction, too. Recent upgrade is excellent. Gives faster info; seems to use less battery power.

Almost 5 stars. My only issue is on the Apple Watch. Even though I've got feet instead of meters on iPhone and also made that choice on the watch, every time I open the watch app I have to go change it back to feet. Why doesn't it stay on the "feet" option? Otherwise a truly great app!!

Readings conflict. Aster and GPS are 20-30 feet different at times. Go outside and stand still, flip between the two a few times and eventually they coincide at a completely different reading but then they change as soon as you switch to the other mode (GPS or Aster) and go back. I don't think it works. Maybe it once did but it's a mess right now.

Altimeter. Beautiful GUI, looks like vintage gear right down to the meter and serial plate. Civilian GPS altitude is limited in accuracy as normal. ASTER is a nice feature, by also limited in accuracy by the nature of the database, however it is good to roughly 10 meters. This is good enough for any casual recreational use. The GPS is often closer to correct, but will vary where ASTER seldom does. Only complaint is that occasionally ASTER will not return data (comes up as all zeros), however the text display indicates the database query was successful when it obviously was not.

Needs more barometer calibration options. Great app, just need the ability to calibrate by inches of mercury....

Suunto killer.... Use this app regularly for trail running in The Columbia River Gorge, hunting in the high desert and climbing in the Cascades and Eagle Cap Wilderness. Extremely accurate and reliable and works well whether in the middle of the city or deep in a river canyon. Much more accurate than my (now eBayed) Suunto altimeter watch. Looking forward to trying it out on some higher peaks come summer. Brilliant execution - nice work guys!!

Fun app for geography nerds. Quite helpful when traveling through the mountains. Wish the display were a little easier to read...

Great App!!!. Just finished a Corvette trip thru the Rocky Mtns and this App worked great. Checking the readings against actual elevations, I was surprised how accurate it could be. Not exact, but well within the range for what this App is intended. Very impressed.

User. I've checked this against topographical maps in several locations and have found it to be VERY accurate. It's simple to use. It does work better when outside (as reccommended) but also works pretty well indoors too.

In Hg missing. Please add an option for inches of Mercury!

Review. This is a great application, definitely worth .99. GPS mode works great, even when you have no cell signal. It'd be cool if you could record elevation maxes, or the elevation of certain waypoints, but for a buck, I can't complain. The mountain location info for mountains in Ecuador is off by as much as a km, but also not a big deal. Thanks a lot!

Accuracy. Off 10ft at 3000ft, still nice app when in the mtns.

Very accurate, probably +/- 10ft or less.. I would add a feature were I can download a certain area map (for when there is no signal) and then I can pinpoint myself and based on the topographic data of the downloaded map it can tell me the approximate altitude of where I am. Great app.

Outstanding Go To Tool. I have used this Coast to Coast in the US. From Mountains to Sea for pleasure and for work. It has NEVER let me down and is very accurate even against professional surveying equipment and field use GIS plotting devices. Highly recommend!

Works great!. My dad LOVES this thing. He can't believe how accurate it is and he also likes the map that tells you the exact location you are at...down to the parking spot... literally! Very cool app

Excellent app. This app worked great for us. We used it hiking in Colorado. When you first open it it may still show the last recorded measurement, but will correct within a minute.

Not a bad little app .... Not a professional land surveyor so i cant comment a 100% on its accuracy - but - just a couple of touch points i measured using it & then comparing it to what i could find using google searches - seems to be fairly accurate. Bought it specifically to set my Citizen watch which has a builtin altimeter - needs to be set initially & then it calculates its own values - the two seem to get along nicely - so again - it seems to be fairly accurate (the app)

Does the job. I'm very satisfied with this altimeter app. It is quick to respond and very user friendly. I find myself using it more often than I thought I would.

Does the job but needs improvement. The app does a great job in providing accurate altitude readings but definitely needs some improvement. The Apple Watch compatibility will not save the feet measurement so it defaults to meters every time you open it. Frustrating! MOST IMPORTANTLY this app should have a complication option so that it can be added as a complication to a watch face. It is inconvenient to have to open the app to check altitude every time when you could have it on the face and check in real-time.

Very Cool App. Old school altimeter but works great

Beautiful GUI and works!. The user interface is near photo-realistic perfection. Only mistake I would point out (since it is nearly perfect otherwise) is that the small globe icons next to the latitude and longitude numerical displays are reversed. The globe with the arrow showing direction latitudinally is next to the Longitude number and vice versa.

Nice app. Does exactly what it's supposed to do and looks really nice while it's doing it. If there's one thing I would request, it's that a stay awake option be added so you can see your altitude change as you drive up into the hills or mountains

An app worth having!!. I just used this app to help determine the safety of driving conditions on my route. Know I can plot out potential dangers like iced roads based on altitude and temperature. What a life saver this has been. Thank you for writing this app. You have helped me keep my family safe during this vacation drive.

Great App!. I love this app. As for the previous review, dated 11/21, I was also scratching my head for a moment when I first launched this app. Then I noticed it was set to display in meters. One touch of the screen set the display to feet, and ever since I have been amazed at the accuracy and usefulness of this cool app.

Calibration. Good accurate app but needs to be calibrated too often

Totally approved. I used this altimeter function on a environmental engineering work at a mountain region in the south of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The region was totally irregular full of mountains and valleys but the result found in the altimeter app was only 3m different of the DGPS station fixed in a known and referenced point. It has worked awesome.

Exactly. Does exactly what it says. No muss, no fuss. Straightforward. Very useful.

Almost great. This app is quite good, with one glaring flaw. When you utilize the apple watch version the default is meters. That is fine, I wish we used meters in the United States. However when you change the toggle for feet on the watch, it does not stay in that mode. Needs to have the ability to change the measurement type permanently to the users desire.

Does its thing.... This app tells one at which elevation one is and therefore works as advertised. Seems to be accurate according to local stats.

Great Tool, Limited Features. Does what it says it does, and well from what I can tell. Wish it had a "stay awake" mode, as well as the ability to manually input altimeter setting (to show barometric altitude relative to ground position from METAR data).

Love this app!. This is great for travel, and also the map feature gives you an instant view of where you are - wonderful for unfamiliar areas. Won't leave home without it!

Works very well!. I have some questions about when both Aster and GPS readings come back at the exact same elevation every time, but I am extremely happy with the performance. On top of Mt. Of the Holy Cross in Colorado (elev. 14,005') it read 14,018' as a Mac with 20' of accuracy... And on Pico de Orizaba (elev. 18,491') in Mexico it was within 30' true. For my needs it was great!
