AFL Live Official App Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Good for international fans. Nice upgrade. Took a long time to find the radio broadcasts but I finally found them by scrolling downward. Might help to make them more prominent!

Ripped off. Bought a subscription to watch games only to find out that video isn’t supported outside Australia. Why wouldn’t you say that up front? And this was purchased through the US Apple App Store so surely the subscription shouldn’t be available, no??

Rip off waste of time. Paying for the afl live subscription is a total waste of time and money. Frequently drops out and can’t watch games. What a scam.

Needs some work. In Live mode on the 4th panel the "free kicks" stats always appears out of whack... needs someone to have a good look at that and then update...

Great app. All the way from Midwest USA!!!!

Good features but slow and buggy. The most recent release of this app seems to have a few bugs. Most noticeably, it loads up games you didn't select, takes a while to load the games you do select, and is just generally a bit slow. Aesthetically it's nice, but some information can be hard to find as there is a lot going on on each page. Personally, I think last seasons version was a bit better.

Disappointing. It is really disappointing when apps are updated and regress. This version is clearly inferior to the 2016 version (which was basically perfect in terms of a sports app). The 2017 version is poorly designed: video and ads crowd the screen. The score snake is basically useless because the y-axis isn't dynamic. In general the app is slow to update and some screens freeze when selected (e.g. the player stats)

Love it!. Living in California it's not easy to keep up with the AFL, so this app is my source for all things footy. It keeps me up to date with all the news and scores from around the league. A must for fans.

AFL Live Radio on Apple Watch?. Can you listen (Radio broadcasts like TripleM/3AW etc) to live AFL games via Apple Watch? If not, could developers look at adding this?

Can I get a refund???. I purchased this app last week and also bought a 30-day pass so I could listen to the Carlton vs. Geelong match. The videos did not play at all, at first. They eventually started working sporadically. During the match, the audio I paid for was nowhere to be found, and the app crashed ten minutes before Geelong rallied to win at the end. Now, I want to listen to the North Melbourne match, but again the Match Radio feature does not work at all. This app is full of bugs. The AFL people and the developers of this app should be ashamed of themselves. They're charging people for an app that doesn't even work. All of the free footy apps I've tried work and give me the scores, the ladder, etc. I thought I was getting something extra by paying the AFL for this junk. I want my money back.

Go Tigers!. Nice app mostly works well.

Footy lifeline. AFL app has been my lifeline to great footy, ladder standings, and the play by play for my teams games. I just wish I could purchase the view game option from outside Australia.

Sounds cuts out on videos. Since the latest update, the sound cuts about 6-10 seconds into each video. Very frustrating and makes videos unwatchable.

Carn the Hawks!!. Awesome app. I'm an Aussie living in the U.S. This is my go to app for everything AFL.

Can't watch a game without it!. I'm from across the big pond, it's the only way I can keep up with Footie news and the teams and the players. Love it!!!!!

Could be better..... Need the option of 16/9 windscreen on the live games as they do already on the replays. Having the option of the picture slightly reduced in size and being able to see all the play and graphics is much better than having the graphics chopped off and the picture centre cut. Very annoying. Give us the full windscreen picture option, not this centre chopped rubbish. You give us the option on the replays which is great. Why not the live games???

Cant get it to work, cant cancel, cant get money back either. Dont risk this if you are in US

Annoying siren sound effects!. The siren sound effects go off all the time. I nearly crashed my car the last time it happened. Really dangerous annoying app.

Horrible.. Super buggy. Terrible experience every year. Feels like 2008.

Easier than going to the website. The news is easier to track and read on here than online and match centre works pretty well

Go the pies. Go the pies

Afl live in the USA. Afl live is the bomb on getting live updates from the footy world here in the USA thank you afl

Glitch. When your on the app for 10-20 min the top becomes white and it glitches and nothing works.

AFL Fan. The current version of this app is so much poorer than the previous version! It's clumsy! It's awkward! The earlier versions made everything AFL easy to view. The new version seems to go out of its way to make things more difficult! I don't have much use for this app!

Match replays. Hi I’m residing in San Francisco, CA so having access to replays is fantastic. One comment though on the controls is that it doesn’t have easy access to fast forward or backwards, so fine toggling is a real pain Would be great to have the fast forward / backwards 10 second that other apps have Cheers

Get rid of the splash screen. Great app, functionality wise everything works perfect for me. I do have one negative. The splash screen that displays everytime u open the app (even once it's already been opened) and it is extremely annoying. For example if u are periodically checking in scores, every time u go back into the app, or if u leave the app displayed when u lock your phone and go to unlock it, the shooting splash green displays for a couple of seconds. Please get rid of it

It's great.... I like the current update. I wish the video format was a bit more USA friendly and I wish they had more in the news section that made the league's latest easier to digest for international AFL supporters. Overall, nice app and I appreciate being able to listen to matches from across the globe. Go Giants

Another American fan. I love being able to listen to the games live through the Internet. I'm not able to subscribe to the online streaming and my local PBS stations shows them two weeks old. I kind of followed rugby over the years, but when I accidentally saw my first AFL game on PBS in the middle of the night, I was hooked. I also wish there was a way to show the start time of the game, in the time zone one lives in.

Clunk clunk clunk. A Ben Brown run up is shorter than the loading time for this app. An oil tanker can turn faster than this app loads.

Nothing loads. Does load anything. This makes it incredibly difficult to follow scores and the ladder, as you can imagine.

Rubbish. None of the match replay videos play - even after deleting and reloading the app twice

Excellent. Fantastic App. Especially if your not in Australia, so you can follow the Greatest Sport In The World. Thanks AFL but make it more interactive. Also need to make the AFL Live available worldwide especially in the USA.

Great app... Great app, it just needs a feature to hide the scores from the previous week. Since I’m a week behind to watch all the matches, I have to use my finger to block the scores whilst I click the video replay button.

Footy fan. This is a truly fantastic game. NO time called for advertisements... Much more action... many more excellent athletes... Fewer injuries... Higher scores... No cheerleader distractions; and the list goes on. For foreign viewers, please publish a complete schedule at season commencement. Will visit down-under next season to attend 3 games. Go Crows and Kangaroos and Swans!

What would I do without it?. As a lifelong Aussie Rules fan, and an expatriate, this app makes my weekend!

Needs a few tweaks. A great place for official AFL news, however, it needs a few tweaks. 1. Not interested in AFLW. There should be a setting to filter out or choose not to display anything flagged as AFLW. 2. The zoom feature is ordinary. When you try and zoom it’s unstable. It will work and be fine and then other times it zooms way in or out and the screen goes white. Have tried on multiple phones with the same behaviour. 3. Stop repeating the first 6-7 displayed news entries. There’s no reason to have them up first and once you get past the videos they are repeated.

US fans out of luck. What advantage could there possibly be in barring overseas paying subscribers from watching live games?! Makes zero sense

Footie fun. Great app. Helps me catch up on the sport

Wonderful app. There are a few footy apps out there but I use this one the most. The only thing I wish it had was a preference for time zone so us poor sods on the other side of the planet can have match start times for where we are.

Best sports app by far!. Best selection of news, match reviews, injury reports etc. no other app for any other sport has been able to put it all together so well. Best way for me to keep up with footie, while in the USA.

All Things Footy. I am an American who visited Australia a few years ago and got hooked on footy. This app is great for keeping up with what is happening week to week.

Afl app for iPad. Everything works, but its really terrible when trying to read the news section. You have no way of adjusting the split of the page and so are forced to move the page around to try and complete a whole sentence! Big downer and you'd expect much better considering I'm sure the AFL paid a chunk to get it done!

Last update is not the best.. Ever since the last update a month ago, the live audio streaming is very patchy and has broken commentary. It’s so bad that you can’t listen to any of the games. It happens with every radio station available to listen to.

Scam. They sign you up for a weekly subscription and don’t allow you to cancel. No help from FAQs. No help from their 24 hour help line - nothing. Many are affected

Mixed feelings. This app seems to keep evolving and improving in many ways however I have been disappointed to see the text commentary disappear - sometimes you can't have the audio playing and the text was a good alternative - now you have no feel for what's happening!

Effective App. Fast and all the info Videos are put up quickly and love the highlights

One of the worst apps ever. This app continues to disappoint me, it's had more glitches than I can count. It freezes, it fails to update games for a quarter or more, the radio streaming craps out constantly, the whole thing is a mess.

No image on replays IPad Air. Living in France at the moment and I don’t have access to any images on videos. Got the sound though lol but mate please give access to those images on iPad Air thanks

buggy and why the sound when on silent?. crashes semi frequently, especially when those ads start playing. and when they do work, oh my god, why is the sound on even though my phone is on silent?! it should be like all other video apps and be muted by default with an icon to turn sound on. i can’t use the app anymore in quiet places (bed, work, library, etc). it’s a truly awful update

Constantly crashing. Highly unreliable. Dodgy service. Pathetic excuses. Monopoly!

A Feel Good. Have definitely enjoyed the AFL, after discovering in my first school, at least 61 years ago. Thanks to new important word, (mindfulness), have been reminded that AFL will always help, and please people who “choose” to enjoy. Even marvel over the technical journey taken by AFL, from radio, to black and white TV, to computer, to phones and now to leading edge apps, including smart TVs. 📺 Witnessed everyone of those 👀😃 Believe my team Essendon will also work back, despite a confusing recent journey. Fantastic app. Even this event is a Feel Good 🤠💁👏🏻

The bigger picture. I enjoy the App as it give me the opportunity to see AFL games wherever I have Telstra service and I watch the matches on my iPad. There is great information as far as statistics foe each game goes as well. I am disappointed that the actual viewing screen size for the game is less than half the size of the iPad screen. I can understand why the view cannot be cast to a television but it would be nice to have a larger view of the game on iPad

Not happy. Useless . I moved to Telstra from another provider that was cheaper and gave me the same coverage , because I wanted to watch the AFL games when I could as I work weekends , but I can not get games or updates unless I am in wifi zones . I have updated , resubscribed , and sent emails and been on hold to get no response from any one , so why should this survey be any different , JOKE , happy to take my money and give nothing back . And now every name I try and put in is taken even obscure random letters .

Why is there aflw in the afl app?. This app is great in terms of fixtures, ladder and very good features with the player stats, I can’t seem to find any sports app that is better than the afl app. It is very easy to operate and very useful in lots of ways, the one flaw with this app is that the aflw is forced into this app when there is already an existing aflw app that you can download if you wish to hear about the latest news for women’s football. This is an issue because when you get a notification labeled “Collingwood star injured” you open up the article just for it to be an aflw player that you are not interested in because you have the afl app installed not the women’s afl app. And just to make it even more ridiculous, there is not a trace of the men if you have the aflw app, where’s the equality? Still a quality app

AFL live. Great app. Gives country people like myself the opportunity to keep up to date with everything happening in AFL. Also great for watching AFL games live that are not covered on free to air tv. The only option I wish was available on the live games was to turn off stats and watch the games on full size screen, not 1/3 size screen. Thanks again Telstra and AFL. Can this option be considered ? ?

Pay to watch ads. This app has seen many improvements over the past five years however adding advertisements before highlights and clips that are both unskippable and unpauseable makes using the app infuriating. Not to mention the app hasn’t taken into consideration the placement of the seek bar when rewatching the game on devices that use a home bar instead of the home button. Easy way to get 5 stars -Remove the ads (especially for those who have paid for subscriptions, myself $80 yearly) -Bring the seek bar (the bar that you can use to scrub forwards and backwards with) to the top or increase its size on home bar devices. -Maintain the quality streams

Bit too buggy. This app has some very good articles and videos. But it is so glitchy, Every time you scroll down while you’re reading an article it either resets the page, or it scrolls very slowly. If you’re in player stats, that takes forever to load. So it’s just those little things that half ruin the app. I love the content if there was no silly glitches I would give this 5 stars, I read this everyday. Still a lot to work on but I like this app more then I dislike it.

Love my footy, love my official AFL app. The go to for whenever I need to know something AFL related, but for the love of God (and apologies if this is just a digital radio thing and not your issue) is there anyway we can get Live radio actually live?? There’s always a 10 to 15 second delay when I listen to any of your stations broadcasting the game whilst at the game. That’s why I stopped using the Triple M app, but I might go back to taking the wireless to the game instead, that seems to have no delay.

Fix the notifications PLEASE. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been watching the footy live, which in the app is slightly delayed, and I get a notification right in front of me showing me the final result of the game before it’s finished on the stream. Yeah I’m not the smartest and forgot that turning off notifications exists (though I haven’t checked if that fixes it), but the app spoiling the last 2 minutes of a game is appalling. Please fix that No other hassles tho, really love the app apart from that

Affl app. Last year we could watch the games on the phone as I am a Telstra customer . This year before the season started the app was fine . However, now the app is permanently frozen and inoperable. Have tried deleting it and reinstalling a few times but I guess I will just watch nrl this year . Hard to believe that the usually hopeless nrl is light years ahead of the afl in technology. Go figure . Without the app living in nsw it’s too hard to get involved in afl and I hate the swans so NRL it is . Sorry kids your playing league again.

App shuts down immediately. I have this app on my phone and it works fine. My wife has it on her iPad and it works fine. It shuts down immediately on my iPad after getting to the splash screen. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, turned the iPad off and back on again, stood on one leg and blinked both eyes, but nothing will get the app working. I asked the AFL what the problem could be, but I haven’t heard from them. App Store says it works on this iPad. I beg to differ.

Cool app. Suggested improvement. Hey, love the app. Lots of info at the fingertips. A suggestion- can you make the date and time of each match so it can make an appt in peeps’ calendars by tapping the little calendar symbol when you open the match details? Just a thought. Would be cool to put while season of my team’s games in without having to manually do it. In fairness, in a ‘normal’ world games are a bit more predictable. It’s just now as we enter this 30 day blitz that it’s come to mind but it would be cool to be able to do it post COVID-19. For me it’s only my bloke and I with one team each to keep track of. For big families who have multiple clubs would be even more useful perhaps. What do you think? I know this is probably not on your radar at the mo so don’t stress too much. Thanks. Claire.

Great app but let’s me down sometimes. Sometimes doesn’t alert me to my chosen teams bounce time. Also, the ladder isn’t as good as last year. Now there are three tabs to see all the information whereas last year you could see points for and against, position on the ladder, form and next team being played. They need to revert back to that ladder.

Chrome cast/air play. As a crows supporter who recently moved interstate we now rely solely on the AFL live app as Telstra customers to watch our team play when they aren’t playing during prime time. My partner and I struggle to watch the game on our iPad because you can’t put it on full screen because all the stats take up 50% of your screen and you don’t have to option to hide it, which is the dumbest thing about the app. The stats are great but you’re on the app to watch the game not the statistics. We also thought we might be able to use our chrome cast to watch the game on our tv but we can’t, super disappointing. Now we are both forced to sit squeezed up super close to try and see what’s going on in the tiny window on our iPad screen.

New update crashes. Since yesterday’s update, the app won’t even open. The front page briefly flashes, then disappears. Nothing! The App Store says it is compatible with my phone, but I wonder whether that is true. I have an iPhone 6 with operating system 12 that is no longer being upgraded. If it isn’t compatible, it should say so. I’ll keep the app for a little longer in hopes that there will be a new update that fixes the last one.

One of the worst paid App. Consistently disappointing. Streaming and replays crash a lot. It’s a paid subscription so I don’t want to see any advertisement. Not being able to go full screen on the iPad is a joke. I don’t have Foxtel so I feel trapped cause there’s no other option at the moment. This is so f@*kin frustrating! Update: Finally had it and cancelled my subscription. This App and Foxtel had ruined watching the game for me. I’ll just have to settle watching the games on TV and highlights rather than paying for this useless subscription. I also don’t understand how this App has a 4.6 rating when some of the negative reviews are 5 stars? The rating looks rigged to me. Anyway, thanks Telstra and Foxtel for ruining it for me.

More information but not easier to use. The AFL app has been updated but trying to use it sometimes feels like a rat in a maze. Simple match reports feel like they are delayed longer than normal. If listening to a game and the game finishes the radio stops, if you go to the next game but if the next game doesn’t start within then next 10 min the radio stations aren’t there to listen to any post match news/interviews of the other game that might have ran over time.

Groan. Billion dollar AFL. Just can’t figure why you’ve got to have ads on the ap. Sponsored by Telstra, another $billion dollar company and you give us ads... is there no end to the parsimony? Your ap jumps around, disappearance of features (no injury list for example, you’ve got to google to find out what is going on i.e you’ve got to ask an American corporation what’s happening in Australia’s national sport!!). This is the AFL official app?? Why can’t you have player bios up to date?? No info supplied by the club?? Get in touch with the player personally and DO THE JOB!!! How hard can it be!!??? Is this app run offshore by some disinterested Pakistani back yard IT company?? 1 out of 10 guys, you can do better!!!

So disappointing.. Forget the app and go and watch the game at a pub! Earlier versions of the app were good... but later versions only allow you to watch on about a third of your device screen. The rest of the screen is taken up with fairly useless stats, such as how long a particular player has been resting on the bench, or a score worm, heat map, etc. One can only assume that the reduction in viewing space is Telstra and the AFL driving you to take out a Foxtel subscription. Also, when renewing your subscription beware of duplicate charges from Telstra and the iTunes Store. Pay close attention to your credit card statements. One says Telstra Applications, the other Apple iTunes Store.

Another glitchy update. Honestly , I don’t know why I bother with this app. Another forced update only to find it is glitchy again. Logos aren’t displaying on the matches screen, it is caused my iPad to restart twice. It was fine before this update. This happens every year, they do a update at the start of the season, force everybody to accept the update then it’s glitchy for a while until they get the bugs out. Have you ever not thought of testing, on all devices, before you release it. The AFL’s digital implementation is really poor for an organisation of the prominence it has. Don’t even get me started on the AFL Membership website, jeez. Just use the website instead of the app.

Great app but could be better. I have really enjoyed the afl app very much but I think it still has a few floors that need ironing. When a match starts, I have noticed there are a bug when you scroll down through the matches when you get to a link and it goes back to the home screen. I have also noticed the live radio coverage sometimes stops working 15 minutes after you put it on to listen to the game but overall it is a fantastic app.

Slow, cumbersome & takes a step backward with each release. Imagine you had almost full control over all the content of the game you run? You’d want to produce the information, the game reviews, the data in a manner that brought your viewers along. Not if you’re the AFL. Everything takes a week to load. The data is presented like a 2yo’s mess at breakfast & the absence of insight from the 4000 journos who cover the game is beyond belief. Take a bow AFL. Worst app from any major sports provider. Btw, go take a look at what The Masters provides for those following their event. It is miles ahead.

This is a GREAT app. This app has all the latest news, easy access ladder, results and fixtures, match ups and MUCH more. There is even a place where you can see injured players, everything a footy fan could ask for. Even the small details, like showing your team more makes this app amazing. I use this and the Cricket Australia Live app heaps, and if anyone is wondering if they should get this app. DO IT. It’s free as well, so there is actually no point in not getting this game. Thanks to the developers for all the time and effort they put into this!

Best footy app. This app has everything it’s by far my favourite footy app and probably my favourite app of all time if your with Telstra you have access to everything you can watch new and old games. Also it has all the footy news for everyone plus if you want to see the stats or start tipping for prizes and competition you can. Overall an amazing app the best footy app and my favourite app.

Live matches bomb out following latest "upgrade. Very disappointing. App didn't operate at start of season on older iPads. Telstra fixed this but following latest update live matches won't load. Latest word from Telstra is that their technicians are working on fixing but not clear as to when this will be resolved. Last week and this weeks rounds can't be accessed using iPad 9.2 despite paying for service. Be very careful of what device you have and compatibility before you purchase!

Comments. I love that I can see games that are not shown on free to air television, but I find it disappointing that despite paying for these games I can still only view them on 3/4 of my iPad screen rather than the entire screen. I understand that my $5 per week does not entitle me to mirror my iPad to the television, but full screen on my device would be a big improvement. I watched the Hawks and Swans game on Saturday and noticed that the score worm was about 30 seconds ahead of the game being shown on the screen. Surely that can be better synchronised. Cass McKinnell

Good background stats and info but ..... Really good layout for stats and info but the screen for live games is way too small on an IPad-If it wasn’t for that I would have given it 4 or 4.5 stars! One other improvement would be to have live injury updates during the game. Ideally I would love to be able to switch to another commentary e.g ABC during the game-as a Swans supporter, I find the commentators are usually biased to vic players, but I suppose that that is unlikely due to contractual arrangements.

Still buggy. Was hoping latest update wld fix, but it doesn’t. Impossible to scroll down news page. The page scrolls about 6 - 8 stories down before it refreshes automatically & jumps back to top of page, even if you’ve switched off auto refresh, notifications, etc. Also most times, you can’t listen to pregame on ‘listen live’ until literally 1 or 2 minutes before game; occasionally listen live won’t even appear til game starts. V frustrating if yr not in Vic & listening online is yr only option. Especially as broadcast radio stations have to stop streaming around 15 mins before the game, which results in a broadcast black hole for that crucial period to hear pregame analysis, late outs etc. Fix these glitches and it wld be a 4 star app, as it is a little better than previous versions (except for the absolutely OTT ads - as others have said, there are way too many and they’re too long). And AFL, just a heads up that re live game video moving to a paid platform: The day live radio streams move to a paid platform, is the day I delete the app, stop using the desktop site and stop listening to all but Swans & Giants games that are available live on ABC radio here in NSW. At least they have no ads! 😬

iPad app is an afterthought. There are two serious performance issues which really bring down the usability of this app. The first is when you are in the newsfeed and you press to play a video, turn it 90° on the side and the video loses its Mark and the screen resets and you cannot play the video any more. The second one is in the newsfeed the title for the new story is bunched together with a picture of a different new story, making it hard to determine what article you are looking at. Fix this up and you will be well on your way to success!

Crashes. An amazing app as it’s an easy way to see the scores, fixtures, broadcast guides, results, ladders and everything you need to know about AFL! One thing that needs to be fixed is the crashing, if I’m on the app looking at the scores and I get out off the app and go back on it soon after it loads for a bit and then directly takes me out of the app. It’s quite annoying as this might be a time where you really want to know the scores. Overall a great app but that is something that needs to be fixed.

HARDLY WORTH GETTING!. Unfortunately the AFL App has become very disappointing. Living in Wollongong we could not get the Telstra Free live coverage on the Cats v Tigers match at the MCG, and then Apple Airplay it to our television like we could before. The game was not on our local TV channels so we couldn’t view it unless it was on a small phone. It wasn’t on our local radio either. It is hard to watch an AFL game for a long time on your mobile phone. Watching the U18 championship games as we did last year, won’t be able to be viewed again. Y The local clubs and pubs here will usually only show NRL matches, if the Swans or GWS aren’t playing. Why offer so call free to air coverage when you can only view a match on a small hand held screen, when you could watch it on your TV. Why not attach some advertising and let people actually see the matches properly, like we could before? What is the use of being a Telstra customer if you cannot view an AFL match comfortably?

Can't even open the app!. Nothing happens just frozen on the opening page. Have deleted and reinstalled a few times with no change. Really, really poor but sadly seems typical of Telstra - their web account management page has been mia for weeks too... To be clear I have a late model iPhone which has a Telstra mobile/data plan. Pls fix it I want to use this app.

Problems Accessing. While it is great to get a host of AFL news in one site, this year it has been less than satisfactory for a user in China. It has not been possible to view any of the video on the site. I get directed to a Telstra customer service site that does not seem to exist. Plus text often takes ages to download or does not appear at all.

Lovin this technology woop woop. As 50 year old we’ll almost!!!😊 mother of 3 beautiful children and their 3 beautiful partner’s and my beautiful and minny me 😊 granddaughter Laylah Rose 🌹 I’ve been a swans supporter for as long as o can remember and my family and I would go to every game back in the day we would only see our teams on the TV 📺 after the game on a replay for about half an hour hour at the most, I was born in to a life of supporting the South Melbourne football club (blood stained angels) . Also the local and VFA clubs all my life. Being able to watch a lot of games in all these devises is so amazing I’m loving this technology Born in 1969 IM LOVING LIFE 😊❤️ Thanks heaps xxoo

STILL buggy. Great app, aside from the extremely buggy user interface. I scroll down to see the games for the current round and half way down, it refreshes and takes me back to the top. I scroll down again and icons start flashing and refreshing before I get taken back to the top again. And scores will take a good 10 seconds to load up. It often tells me scores are at 0-0 when I first open the app, even though it might be third quarter. These bugs happen on my iPhone 7, but also my new iPad Pro. There’s reviews here from a year ago with the same complains. It needs to be fixed.

LADDER FILTER IS BUGGY. Generally app has gotten much better and glad the SANFL, WAFL etc are there but the ladder filter to check between competitions seems to only appear when you access the ladder function via the VFL section of the app. Could the filter be fixed so you can access all comp ladders from the ladder prompt at the bottom of the Home Screen, currently no red filter box appears when you open it? Otherwise app is quite good, look and usability has improved.

Screen rotation. It appears the screen rotation goes to portrait mode to view all the other tabs except for the match viewing screen ,really annoying. Make it auto rotate to how you hold the ipad ,ie landscape if you turn if you hold it that way. And yes like others have mentioned you used to be able to watch games in full screen mode ,now it’s quarter screen with 3/4 of the pages full of stats ,we don’t need that, make that another screen if people want that option.

Can’t log in with Telstra ID. Although this app as some great features, I have been limited to them because of the difficulty of trying to login to get the season pass with my Telstra ID. Every time I attempt to log in with my Telstra ID, it just never works. When I try to log in with my Telstra ID it loads which proceeds to convince me that it has successfully logged me in. As I then try to watch a live match it tells me that I need to be a Telstra customer and sign in with my Telstra ID. I have correctly entered my Telstra ID yet it still fails to give me access to the season pass. I have never had such difficulties trying to use an application before.

Team Flags/Icons are blank in the ladder section. Really disappointed that I was forced to update the app in order to use it. Then, since the latest update, the team flags/icons, in the Ladder section of the app, are all blank and appear as a greyed out shadow only with no team colours or anything to determine one team from the next. This is horrible!! And this also means that when you click on the extended version of the ladder, it doesn’t even have the team name listed near the greyed out shadows (which should be the team flag/icon) so you have absolutely no idea which team sits where. This is ridiculous. What a complete bomb out of an update. It’s practically made the app unusable if you want to check the AFL ladder. I’m considering deleting the app altogether if this isn’t brought back to functioning status in the next few days.

Constant tinkering and little quality control = rubbish app. The constant changing of layouts and interface I suppose is to be expected but there is clearly not enough testing going into it so that all then bugs are worked out. The current app, running on iPhone 7, constant crashes, is incredibly slow, and is difficult to find content on. I appreciate that a lot of work when into this but it’s the worst app so far and there is something to be said for a clear, minimalist approach, rather than fully multimedia integrated Bellsnwhistles everywhere. It would be great just be able access latest articles front and centre And geez lay off the gambling advertising! Kids are using this all the time... get some better sponsors!

Broadcasting bungle. As a Victorian who was not legally allowed to watch the grand final anywhere than under my own roof, I was let down dearly for reason alone that I did not have an antenna sitting on that very structure. Despite being a Telstra customer, I was booted off the app 5 minutes before the bounce; shocked to find that chromecast or any form of streaming had not been made available. The suggested message I was given was - watch on Kayo. Of course Kayo was not showing the game live. After watching the first quarter on a 6 inch device screen, I was forced to settle for an online stream. Ironically, the option I’m sure the AFL was trying to avoid. For a company who has moved so many barriers successfully this year in the face of a pandemic, I was left gobsmacked that renegotiating broadcasting rights apparently, was one too difficult. While the tigers went on to greatness, myself and no doubt many other Victorians in this instance were abandoned. 2020 has been a wake up for many technical redundancies that have called for change. Here’s hoping the AFL has a conversation about one that is long overdue. Luke

App is fine, but only if you want to ruin your eyesight. I am sure I’m not alone in saying that we mostly use the app for watching the games live. With that in mind I find it ridiculous that: 1. They reduced the screen size for viewing. 2. They have made it so the app does not support chrome cast to stream it on a bigger TV screen. 3. THEY DON’T EVEN ALLOW YOU TO WATCH LIVE GAMES ON THEIR OWN PRODUCT, THE TELSTRA TV. Telstra have put together a great app, and I really think this app is one of the best I’ve used. But if you’re going to offer something to customers aiming to provide a service, do it right. I’m basically with Telstra for this very service. I wouldn’t pay to see a movie showing on half a screen, I shouldn’t in this case either.

App content is a quality live stream. The App has not let me down for a quick dive into see the game and scores on the go. As a Telstra member this app comes cost free. My only feedback is that I often tether my mobile device to a bigger monitor at home using a cable converting apple lightning to hdmi. The recent update blocks this with a warning saying the content cannot be recorded. This is an unfortunate setback that probably should be reviewed.

Worst AFL app ever! The AFL should be embarrassed!. How is the rating for this app more than 1 Star?? Does the AFL care that their mobile app should actually work properly?? I think not! The Ladder predictor which was introduced recently is a prime example of something that does not work properly. The results you get from the Predictor is totally different from the actual website but one would think it would be the same except it is not! Worst still the predictor results from the app is completely wrong!! I now just use the afl website on my phone. If you want a textbook case of a poor user experience, buggy app & AFL not caring about its reputation then look no further from the official AFL mobile app!

Amazing, JUST AMAZING!. AFL Live is just great, you can check the fixtures, ladder, news, you can even watch videos on AFL Live! You can also see stats of teams and players to see if anyone is an injured player that won’t play next game or something like that. You can even compare players with other players and see witch player is better! (I do it a lot!) And, i use AFL Live every single day! It’s worth it.

iPad app not working. My mum and my iPads could not load afl live on the weekend and we wanted to watch some games. iPhone works ok but mum only has iPad. Can you please fix issue. Have tried all troubleshooting Restart Redownload and it still opens then closes straightaway. Rely frustrating as we missed 3 games on weekend as done have fox. Please fix issue and do upgrade

Glitchy, can’t watch games with app subscription anymore.. Half the content is good but removing the ability to watch games live in the app is a big loss for me. Has never been a smooth app experience and at times downright embarrassing for a professional organisation to have such long loading times and that’s after the app has gotten better without having to reload it hardly ever when it does freeze etc. but it’s still a glitchy and a clunky app experience and even running on a capable iPad Pro with a fast internet connection. Now Kayo is the cheapest way to watch AFL and that’s expensive if all you want is AFL. Also the ads are minimum 15seconds which is rather long for every video and another stingy cash grab from the AFL, I leave before the video often as the ads are repetitive, lengthy and annoying.

Good but with issues. Good app for AFL news, content and for following on game day. There are minor issues that could use some addressing. Switching a video to landscape while it plays causes the video to crash. This is particularly frustrating as it then requires me to rewatch the ads once I open it again. Another bug is that I have to hold the scroll up to read the bottom of articles as it flicks back up the page if I let go. Annoying since I follow the last team alphabetically.

Broadcast schedule completely pointless, and functionality is rubbish in general.. It is exceptionally difficult to ever know what games are to be broadcast live, using the schedule on the app. A few times already this season I have turned my tv on to watch a game that was listed to be on, only to find that it wasn’t. While a certain game may be on free to air, it is not Australia wide. The app. does not say what states get each broadcast. Yes, it’s on, but you have to guess where. If the app. does not make the distinction, then there is not really much point. Edit 16 July Things I forgot to mention previously. It’s buggy, slow and difficult to navigate. Honestly, all I use it for is to check the scores - it’s rubbish at everything else.

Live streaming/writing a review. The live streaming doesn’t load most of the time. Tells me that I need to contact 24/7. (With no phone contact clearly visible) I eventually login and log out until it works - very annoying. & When writing this review - I needed a nickname to submit it..???!!!!! Every name I came up with it said it was already taken.. very annoying and unnecessary.

Live radio - poor reception. The radio live coverage reception is very poor on my iPod touch and iPad. As an Aussie in Canada, I long forward to listening to live coverage of matches, but not enjoyed because of radio fallout via the Net. I hope the network linkages can improve to get uninterrupted radio coverage of the games. Maybe it's the fault of the App? Thanks Robert, Ontario, Canada

Not good mate. App lacks personality! AFL should look at other sports as a reference point. NHL for example allows me to not only get in depth league info but allows me to have everything my team does on the one page!

1. Don’t expect to read anything about non Victorian clubs

Love it!!!!. just nice

Possession, Mark, Kick.. Score!. Thank AFL, and iTunes for making this App global! This is the only way to get listen to the game and be a part of Twitterverse or Facebook for now. I could write a zillion great things about the App like you can put you fav teams game on your calendars there usually around 4 rave radio stations with great receptions, that you can choose from to listen to your game. Hopefully the commercials have improved? Aussie Rules Footie, best way to end your night or start your day! Footie starts in March. I'm hoping my team wins the PremierCup for 2014. Cheer on Casey! Now it is 2014, season is starting. I'm getting emails still, but this season is different. Radio stations that "we" listened to Footie for years you have to find out if they have an App to listen to the games. Unless you can predict that you will be able to watch EVERY game you paid for.. I LOVE Footie! But even I can't predict one month from the next. I wish. TV stations would put back on stations, as they did in the 1990's!

Poor update from last year. Can't seem to "follow" my favourite team (news, schedules, etc.). Nice look, but far less functionality than last year's app. Hopefully future updates will fill in the blanks.

Great Improvement. Well done on perfect live radio here in Canada

Epic!. Love how u can see all the players on the teams. Excellent graphics

The AFL connection I never thought I'd have!. Allows me to catch up with my favourite teams, listen to them play live on radio, and follow the gameplay as it happens! Basically allowing me to live up my Footy fantasies all the way over in Ontario, Canada!

Love this app!. Works grey adjust start times to my location so I don't miss any of the action! Always up to date with what is happening in the league.

needs improvement. one of the most bloated, buggy apps I've ever used. terrible layout and UI. not what you expect from an official app of a major sports league. there are several "non-official" apps that do the job much better

Was hoping for more. Was hoping for more customisations such as favourite team and choosing a time zone outside of Australia. Will wait and see how the live audio works.

Fan. I’m sitting here in Sainte-Anne, Manitoba Canada watching a great game, between Richmond and Sydney! I love watching AFL! It’s a game like no other!! Darrell MacKenzie

Crap. If you can't even get your app to post to Facebook properly then you're a joke Oh and I'm trying to listen to Dockers vs Bombers. You think I can get the radio to work? Of course not. Sheesh

Great app. Use it to follow the results and keep tabs on my supercoach team from Canada. Great app.

Missing hitouts. This version is much like previous versions. However they have removed the hitout stat from the player stats. PLEASE bring it back AFL

Awesome. Awesome app...2nd to none. Anything and everything footy is there! Love it and the footy season would not be the same without AFL Live.

Lift your socks up!. The radio is so unreliable and frustrating that it's a joke. It's a clunky app. The commentary is a plus. Please fix radio reliability!!!!

Decent, needs a lot of work. Radio streaming is poor - every few minutes it cuts out and requires a restart or change of radio stations.

The worst idea ever. Going against all media trends, this app shrinks the live screen and fills iPad with statistics when the advertisers would prefer viewers watch full screen. Can't use Apple TV etc to watch game with family. Games increasingly not live on TV. Small town thinking.

Fantastic. Love the up to date information!!!

Tipping tabs too sensitive.. Hi. I believe the tipping tabs are too sensitive. If you change a selection you generally change others by accident when you slide to the bottom of the page.

Best afl app. Great app to keep up to date on all afl news.

Just right. I really like this app. Good for following AFL from the US

4 👍🏼. Enjoy this app, but have to give it a "4" bcos can't watch live bcos I'm in USA, it doesn't allow live match outside Australia, at still can watch replays.

Show whole ladder. Seriously, you can't show all 18 teams at once? The ladder shows 17 teams. Come on, just show ALL teams .

Exactly what I want. I'm a Yank who loves his footy, and this app and the site itself give me everything I need to keep up with my favorite sport.

Very Exciting Vehicle for Worldwide Exposure. Great app. Fantastic in its potential to help market the most exciting team sport in the world.

Great App. This is the BEST App for listening to REAL Football.... no helmets OR Shoulder pads audio is good wish it had video though.

International fans left out. I have bought the season pack for live streaming. No option that I can find to get/buy the full upgraded App. Fail.

Great App - simple. Simple and always up to date.

Ok. Lacks TV out, lacks portrait mode. Two critical features that any video app should have. Slow and imprecise / jerky scrolling through the articles.

Time zones. Great app. Could be even better with an option for local time zones.

Great app!. I'm living in the US and this app keep me up to date with the afl season

Dissapointed. Why change the app if you are not going to improve its functionality? Go back to last year's model please. This version is clumsy and shows a distinct lack of thought in what it's like to operate as a punter.

All-in-one place.. Straightforward and easy to use. My go to source for AFL news.

AFL app is great. Use the app every day

Terrible.. So distracting watching the game live with most of the screen covered with useless stats. Waste of time watching ---too annoying.

Pies fan. Very useful for following Aussie footy. I don't get live footy where I am in the USA. I follow my Pies with this app.

A Rippa App. A Rippa App. Many a times I've used it on the commute to work. The radio feed is great. Live score updates and very easy to use. Well worth the purchase.

Spoty app. I really want to watch games and content on the app. However it won't let me sign in or navigate screens but it freezes over and over.

I want a refund!. I signed up for the AFL Live streaming service in the US. I was able to watch matches in round 3 when I first signed up, but am trying to watch round 4 matches and it doesn't work. Now I'm finding out that the streaming service doesn't work internationally! This is a scam and I want a refund!!

Another American !!. I like the app, very informational and love that I can at least listen to the matches !! Just learning the sport and love it !!

Take my money, please.... I'd really like to be able to watch footy in the US, but alas I can't do it on the official AFL app, and why would I be able to? Please fix this deficiency, I'll pay for it, just let me watch.

Not as good as 2016 version. Disappointing update. The app was excellent/perfect last year, but it has regressed. Match scores don't immediately update when I open the app, and the GUI is cluttered and less intuitive.

Great app!. Beautiful interface, lots of info, only downside is lack of synchronicity between audio feed and scoreboard.

Back to doing this the illegal way.. I paid $13 for a month and the live content doesn't work even though it says I have a membership.

American Fan. I like this app but I wish I could have it display games times by my timezone

Why put this in the US store?. Getting any coverage of AFL games in the US is already difficult. I'd gladly subscribe if the content was allowed in the US. This app is just a tease for those of us outside AU.

Great!. No problems with the app. Love the live game audio!!!

Sensational. I'm living in USA and its awesome to keep in touch with the game in the world

AFL Fan. The current version of this app is so much poorer than the previous version! It's clumsy! It's awkward! The earlier versions made everything AFL easy to view. The new version seems to go out of its way to make things more difficult! I don't have much use for this app!

I got iphone paid do i have to pay for Ipad as well!. i just gotthe season sub on the iphone Do i have to fork out some money again to use the Ipad version?

Great app. Helps me keep up with the AFL from overseas. It's clear and concise.

Needs Spoiler Alert Attention. Not much use if you dont want to know the score before watching replays, or Highlights videos. Proverbial Dog's Breakfast.

Crap. Don't get, besides them being sneaky, it constantly goes down. Like again yesterday. I'm on able to give it zero stars so the members one star.

Ok, but needs to be reliable. App overall is ok. If you are going to restrict users to using this app for audio, the streams need to be reliable. I have constant dropouts which are very frustrating.

Great Sport. Living in the USA, with a 13 hour time difference from Australia, this app is indispensable for me. I get to see, usually, one match per week and would be lost without it. Go Pies!

Great App. This has everything

iPad One. The current (old) version forces me to update but the new version requires OS6. Thus an iPad 1user with OS5, the latest available, is excluded from using the app, and further, has the existing one which works fine, disabled. My iPad 1 works for me, so farewell to the AFL. This sort of idiocy is usually called a stuff up.

US Fan. I'm in the US & can't subscribe to videos. What gives? Last year I could get a monthly subscription.

Only for aus/nz. In this day in age, it's hard to believe that the video is only available to the locals. I support the AFL and would dearly like to watch the games in the US! Please allow or fix.

Keeping up the Culcha!. As an expat living abroad, I miss Aussie thinks, particularly the footy. Not now I have the AFL app. It keeps me up to date. Access all areas is my favourite.

Best Sport in the World. So why can't we see or replay full or condensed games on an iPad in the US? The AFL desperately needs a better global online marketing strategy. Cricky!

Texas. Great to keep me updated on footy whilst I'm in the US
