Works great!. Works exactly as described. Need to download the app first, pay one dollar. Once you download the app and connect to your bike and send info to eMax. The response time was really fast. They Sent over the access code, downloaded it and it worked awesome! I have not made any changes to the power or torque settings. I just changed the wheel size and bike does well over 30 miles an hour! I had problems with another company that I had to plug-in another module. The motor would stop working from time to time. Very frustrating. The eMax has works flawlessly on my bike and my friends bike. Highly recommend this upgrade.

Easy to use STEPS units unlocked. I previously used another app to unlock 2 e8000 units and it was frustrating and complicated to run through the process. I managed to complete the tasks. I attempted a 3rd bike and the software crashed no less than a dozen times before I gave up. Each crash resulting in a tedious task of recovering the Shimano software to restart the process. Each crash being so difficult to deal with I was worried about rendering the drive unit permanently inoperable. Assistance from support was of no help. I then found the eMax software and installed that with no trouble at all. Not only was it easy to install but the software must be engineered better than the competitors as power delivery is smoother, not jerky, especially in the boost mode. I am buying another eMax license for my third bike and uninstalling the other unlocker and intend to do the same for the 3rd bike as well. Markus, the developer of eMax, is very gracious and available for any questions you may have. Through several emails with Markus I discovered he really likes what he does with this software, eMax is not “just a business”. Addendum to this review. 06/22/2022 I have unlocked my 5th DUE8000, a Bullitt cargo bike. All the above, still applies. Great product, great developer to back it up. I’ve never had, even close to the response to my inquiries made for app info. Thanks Markus

What Shimano Should’ve Done. Thanks to this app I now have an electronic derailleur. I have an E6100 mid drive e-bike, Kona el kahuna SUV, and I wanted to install an electronic derailleur to minimize maintenance. Shimano would prevent the bike from providing any assistance since the shifting unit differs from what the manufacturer installed. The direction they provide is taking it back to a dealer, which is pretty ludicrous to me. Without the addition license and just paying the $0.99 for the app, I was able to make this extremely simple change without having to haul my bike to a random dealer so they can flip a bit and set some config items. I appreciate Markus’ work on making these basic functions available to everyone. Working on your own bike should be supported by all manufacturers. Thanks to Markus you can actually do that. I’ll be buying a full license, not because I need the additional features, but because I want this work to continue. Thanks again for your work.

Awesome for Shimano. This app used is a little rough on the UI but extremely functional. In conjunction with the free desktop application it completely transformed my bike and unlocked some serious power potential.

Worked great for my 22 Orbea Rise H30!. Easy to use, worked great to "derestrict" my 2022 Orbea Rise with the EP8 RS motor. Makes it feels like a whole new bike and cured my new bike itch for at least another month!

Excellent software and customer support. The only viable option for tuning a shimano EP801 motor in the market today. Markus provides top notch before and after sale support and I couldn’t be happier with the product and support I received.

2023 Orbea Rise H10. Does exactly as advertised. The developer makes it clear the firmware on my EP801-RS would not allow removing the speed limit, but now my motor functions at the full 600W power instead of 350 thanks to this app. Major kudos to the documentation produced my this developer. I would consider buying a full license to continue supporting the dev.

Excellent complement to PC application.. Have been using this he PC version, and this app is the perfect complement.

This App is Excellent. I bought a Focus Jam2 a few years ago. The motor was restricted to 25km per hour. My friends and I have private property for mountain biking. I bought the EMax app and after a little of fidgeting around to get the blue tooth connected it gave me control over the motor firmware and allowed me to unrestricted the motor so I could get up to 56km per hour out of it. During that process I contacted EMax and the app developer / owner Marcus Schlegel sent me info and was very patient and helped me connect and configure. The customer service was most excellent. The beauty of the software is it allows me to restrict it if I want after. It’s all on my iPhone. A few years later I had some trouble and needed to do some more complex reconfiguring. So I got a Shimano pc linkage devise SM-PCE02 which allowed me more access through the app using hardwire connections. I was a bit flustered by the process so I contacted Markus again and he helped me understand and control the process. Markus is a riding enthusiast he built the app to get the most from the Shimano 8000 motor. The App is amazing and the customer service is most excellent. Highly recommended.

Does the job superbly!!!. I only started reading up on apps like eMAX. And did not really know what to expect. I read up a little bit about what this can do. And also how much more it can do if you have the right firmware. Yes I have read all the warnings and what firmware is suited for what you want the app to do. The license is not cheap! But I have to give it 5 stars because what I wanted to modify went like clockwork. I am quite happy with the app! People will need to read all the important sections on what firmware will give you more options. Just remember, downgrading a firmware is very risky. If you read all the disclaimer, and fully understand that this app can do all the description says but it comes down to firmware and hardware. I absolutely have no complaints about this app. It did what I expected it to do end of story. And the beginning of faster speeds and some extras.

A brilliant product and fantastic backend support. I can’t recommend Markus and the team highly enough. I’m thrilled with the work they’ve done for me and the product they’ve created here. I’m so impressed too by Markus’s patience and thoroughness in dealing with my many questions. If I could give them six stars I would. :) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
