Loved this app, but not this version. This version crashes immediately when I use the search function.

Great app concept bad execution. App must have been built by a vegan without an iPhone. Needs a mapping feature, photo posting feature, BBQ tour planner/mapper, and a better user entry tool. It could at least have a popup asking if you're ready to post comments. No edit feature, no update feature. Kill the silly leaderboard.

App won’t load any places, map is blank and won’t search.. Newest version and location on too. Have good LTE signal.

Excellent reference for locals and visitors. States it’s a reader’s work in progress but seems no way to suggest a local (or not) BBQ favorite by the neighbors Our faviorate is Chasin Tail in Lake Dallas just off I35E

Know it's good because.... The reviews were sourced from Full Custom Gospel BBQ, so you know it'll steer you right!

Finding the best BBQ when I travel!. I loved being able to locate their best BBQ joints while away from home. On a road trip to Houston recently, used the app to find nearby BBQ with reviews I could trust. Looks fun to check in and give fellow users reviews, too, but haven't done it yet. Perfect app for BBQ enthusiasts who want to try all the great places reviewed by Daniel V and other TM BBQ experts

Worthless. The app crashes upon a search. How can I locate great BBQ with an app such as this?

Good, could be much better. Glad to finally see an update, but boy this needs some simple improvements like location awareness to sort by what is near you.

Pretty much worthless. The map misses many of the best BBQ joints in my area and, after reading the reviews I think they’re about as pointless as the map. Deleted shortly after installing it.

BBQ liker. Crash. Crash. Crash. Delete.

Been waiting for this app. Looks good so far. I love Texas BBQ and will definitely be relying on this app to help find new places and tell others about my favorites.

PLEASE Add a Map Feature. This is a great app! The location section is helpful but would be greatly improved with a map feature and get a five star rating. There are so many small towns in Texas most don't show up on the map. Say I'm traveling from Dallas to Austin and want to plan lunch during the drive down. It'd be nice to see pin placements on a map to hit a spot I've never been to.

Doesn’t work. Won’t open

Crash. Worthless because app always crashes seconds after starting. iPhone 5.

Helped me find some great ‘cue!. Just found 2M in San Antonio on the way home from the beach - amazing! Great to see proximity and Top 50 mark in an easy list.

Poorly maintained app.. Very poorly maintained app unfortunately. Crashes every time you use the search function. Hasn't had any kind of software update for over a year: September 1, 2015. Very bad. If Texas Monthly has no interest in regular maintenance/ app software updates for the BBQ review app, TM should trash and redesign this app from the ground up, fix the problems with this current app or eliminate it all together.

App crashes. Same experience as the first review. As soon as you type a few letters into the search field, it crashes and closes out.

Good but one problem. Good app dedicated to finding places to eat barbecue but one problem is that it always plays a tune when starting killing any audio playing

Crashes with no updates. I used to use this app a lot over a year ago but over the past year (as a lot of others have stated) it crashes 100% of the time when using the search function. Without the search function, the app is useless.

Weaker than Yankee BBQ sauce. You cant even search by town or zip code - wow! Exceedingly lame, about 5% as useful as any search engine

Pop! Bang! Splat! Whoosh!. Buggy. Crashes on iOS 6. Time for an update perhaps.

What's the point?. Every review says the same thing. The app crashes as soon as you try to search for anything. If they're not going to fix it, what's the point of putting the app out there?

Map crashes. IOS 4.3.3 on a iPhone 3GS - clicking on map causes app to close. Looking forward to visiting the sites in this app tp verify thier ratings.

UPDATE IS AMAZING!!. Wow. I had this app back when it first came out, and all of the missing features have been added. You can save your favorites, map out plans to chow down, and see other users’ ratings. Love it.

All Hat, No Cattle. Crashes one second after opening.

Broken app. New update broke the app. 1/23

IMPORTANT NOTE. We are updating our registration and comment systems, so those functions in the BBQ Finder app are on temporary hiatus. BUT, you can still use the app to find great BBQ! Thanks for your patience.

Crash. This version crashes, and closes immediately, when you try to search.

Worse than bottom shelf BBQ sauce. This app is worse than driving for hours only to arrive late & strike out on brisket. Crashes more than a penny stock. Reviews are as out of date as a topical reference to the magical talents of GOB Bluth. But where did the lighter fluid come from? Not this app.

Priceless!. There should be a Nobel for apps such as this one!

Needs upgrade –– crashes all the time.. It used to be great but now it is stinko. Crash! Crash! Re-springing the phone does not help. The app needs to be updated. Crash! Crash!

Great start. Very nice listing of the "great" Texas BBQ places from the magazine. Now let me sort by distance. I choose where to go based on where I am. (A great 5.0 place that's 200 miles away isn't much interest to me when I'm looking for lunch.)

I love this app and it won’t open.. Please fix it.

BBQ App. Pretty useless. No way to tell where places listed are in relation to user.

What happened?!?. Update is horrible. It use to tell you what BBQ was actually near you. Now it just gives you a random list of places that are hours away from where you are. Old version featured reviews from patrons which was nice, it was good to hear what locals liked. New version is kind of useless. Seems like they forgot to finish the app.

Smoked App. Doesn’t work. No mapping feature for locations near your current location. The back button doesn’t work. The reviews are outdated. No photos or places for viewers comments. Bring back the old app

Great BBQ Finding App. If you love Texas BBQ, you know Texas Monthly is a trusted voice in this ever-evolving, fast-moving food scene. This app is great for finding that smoked meat goodness, Texas style, when you travel. My favorite feature is probably the built-in, region-specific guides with maps that use GPS from your phone to get you close. I took off 1 star because they want a subscription to submit written reviews. With Yelp and TripAdvisor you only need an account to submit written reviews, so I’m confused as to why TM thinks users should pay for that opportunity.

Great app-needs some improving. The app is wonderful as it allows me to find some goodness for my belly while traveling around texas.....shows me where grub not so good :). Haven't had any crashes. Improvements needed: 1). Usually the 1st place on list of bbq places it says is near me actually is 100 or so miles away. 2). I've added a few bbq places as they were not listed over past couple months but none have shown up yet. So something is broken. 3). IOS8.3 seemed to affect the ease of entering buzz or comments. Once typed in enough to fill the comment box, you can't go back and correct or change some text. Had to delete what you had written and retype. May be iOS issue. 4). Would be nice to be able to take pictures of food and upload at least 1 picture showing good, bad and ugly.

Decent start. Not bad for initial version...Has a lot of potential. I like FCG but reviews shouldn't be limited to one opinion. BBQ requires more than one try and, as with many things, is highly subjective.

No Rudy's?! Not a very thorough listing. I am a big fan of Texas Monthly and their BBQ destination articles. But the thoroughness if this app is highly questionable when, upon the my first local search for BBQ recommendations, it did not list a Rudy's BBQ that is less than 2 miles from my home. In fact, searching "Rudy's" gets "No Results." Seriously??

No map?. Its a good start to an app, and the layout is decent. Here are my suggestions to move up to a 4 or 5 star. 1- Add an interactive map. This is useless without an app so I can see what is close when i'm traveling. The directions idea is good and the fact that a map pulls up when I press the address is nice, but it still needs a map showing where everything is. 2- add a font that supports ñ on jalapeño because currently it doesn't. 3- Leaderboard is silly as some guy already has 27 checkins and you app launched today.

Attorney at law. A great app. Every Texan and BBQ lover should have it.
