188 puzzles, some very very easy. This is cute but there are only 188 puzzles and some of them are very very easy, including some where practically any move will work since White has a Q and 2Rs and other pieces against a lone K. Some puzzles are near duplicates of others -- same move, same idea, just a few pieces have been changed. I hope they update it with more puzzles. I used them all up in a about an hour of playing time.

Mate in 1. This is a great app. I am surprised at how challenging some of these puzzles are even though you are just one move away from check mate. I love it!

Easy. This game is fun but not challenging also it is very repetitive in the same moves plz add an expert stage that adds moves like castling and the en passant

Great fun!. Mate in one is a pleasant pasttime, definitely worth a buck, not really a challenge though. If you want a challenge, go to Mate in Two. Try out the free version to get an idea of what they're like. These are excellent apps.

Great application. Given these puzzle require only one move to checkmate they aren't very difficult, but provide a great foundation to learn from and play the mate in 2 and mate in 3 move puzzles. These are nicely organized with variety and progressively harder. The UI (user interface) is good on both the iPhone and iPad.

Fantastic learning tool. This is a fantastic way to ease yourself into more complex chess playing. Cut straight to the chase and figure out the best way to set up a checkmate.

Great for killing time. A lot of fun to play. It's rather easy though and I play chess about once every decade. For a beginner this would be an ideal way to learn chess moves. It did freeze up on me once, I had to reboot my iPhone to make it work.

Excellent app. As promised this has 180 puzzles and they are good for beginners... They give lot of food to your brain... We really enjoyed these ... So much that we bought the next level in a day.

Simple Premise, Flawless Execution. I'm a fair chess player, but I have a terrible endgame because I have trouble seeing mate possibilities. This app is perfect for me! The interface is clear and easy to use, and the puzzles, while easy mate-in-ones, are well-constructed from a variety of board positions.

Excellent resource for those new to chess.. My son and I just finished our first chess camp together and this came on handy.

Enjoyable - Please fix five things. It was worth it. I just played all 188 games between last night and tonight and as a novice (some intermediate) level experience, I'm glad I made this purchase. Please fix five things: Let me compete against a friend showing side by side times so we know who solved which puzzles faster Save my previous times so I can see my own progress. Make each successive game within each level harder. Some games were just too easy after some tricky ones. It was obvious it was not about my unique experiences playing chess but rather an obvious removal of difficulty. I know certain 'concepts' need to be ingrained but when you have the same setup and the same move for mate, changing only one non involved piece should not qualify it as a 'new game'! Lastly, can you display the instances where I made a mistake but then still found a solution? This would be good in measuring my progress. Thank you!

Simple fun diversion. I can't say this makes me a better chess player, but I enjoy doing a couple of these puzzles before going to sleep.

Great for noobs. Just starting out learning chess, I tried a few chess puzzle apps. This one has a decent UI and good pacing.

Great 99 cent game. 180 puzzles will last you a few days off constant playing. Weeks if played intermittently. Despite being mate in one, a number of puzzles are difficult without trial and error for novices.

Good but needs improved. Mate in ones are so vital. Work on them. The format of this app makes it pretty clumsy. When you solve a puzzle you have to click back to the list scroll down and click the next one! Very cumbersome. With done updates it might be better.

A bit too easy but still fun. I enjoy this game a lot. Mate in one is pretty easy but it still has value as an end game trainer. Mate in two and four are better but when you just want to play a simple chess puzzle, this one is really good.

great app. bite sized puzzles for when you're on the go. only comment is that is doesn't automatically move on to the next puzzle so constantly having to go back to main menu to select next one

Review. Great app! No bugs that i have seen so far. Very smooth, good UI, and fast AI response. Overall this a very good and nicely polished app. The only thing is that mate in 1 is relatively easy, but it does state that in the app description. So overall i would rate it 5 stars.

Great for Chess Lovers!!. I got this app for my son who wants to learn to play chess. So far no issues and am considering getting the mate in 2 etc... after reading one of the users who is having issues after puzzle 50!! going to wait before I buy another one, can the developer please confirm or deny the current issue being brought by one of the users?? Stuck loading. It works well until it gets stuck loading. Then none of the problems are accessible. Please fix this. Also, it would be great if each problem had a button to the next puzzle, so you didn't need to return to the index every time.

Mostly good. Unlike the other apps (mate in 2 etc) the majority of the problems here have practical value. Toward the end there some complex compositions that are fun as oddities but not as training. It would be nice if the next problem would load up after completing a mate without having to go back to the home screen, kind of common sense here guys...

Freezes (loads) forever. Good until around puzzle 30 where the hour glass spun (loading) forever. Also having to go "back" into the menu before loading the next puzzle is ridiculous. Should be a next key.
