Great app but.... It's a wonderful app. The quality is great, and it's very user friendly. I can't seem to upload or send a recording, so that's the only issue so far. Hopefully this gets fixed.

ReviewLollipop. I wish that the application had audio effects(FX) as so many of the other competitors do. I hope to see a list of audio effects soon. This is my only means of recording right now, and I would like to make it sound not only as professional as possible, but as close to the sound I was going for as well. Simply amazing. If you play guitar or any other Instrument for that matter this is amazing! This app is worth every cent. Having a metronome a loop for recordings you make and pre recorded drum beats to jam out to is great.

Solid app !. Solid, simple and effective software. Graphics are also very well done. I hope there could be a way to record in stereo, with another connection maybe, or USB. Maybe in the future, there will be a way to record from inside another music app on the iPad. But, as it is right now, the recording studio is working fine, no crashes.

Would be good but...... This app would be good. It reminds me of the simplicity of my first four track, whitch was what i was looking for, But it closes itself every time i press play. Fustrating and a waste of money, this is one of my fears when i dish out money for apps. This app would would be good, great even, but its not because is just does not perform.

Awesome. Great for songwriting/demos/ideas. Love this app. It couldn't be easier to use. I use it to lay down ideas for songs with great sounding loops and work out guitar parts. Its extremely fast to start a new project and lay the idea while it's fresh. If you're looking to record your ideas quick and don't need a million synthesizes or over complicated features, I highly recommend it.

Great app. I have used this app for several months now. I really like it. If you write songs and play guitar, mandolin or banjo this is a must app. It is really easy to use. Buy a new mic it will make a world of difference. The drum beats are not that great but I do not use them much. This app has improved my playing. I am writing both rhythm and lead.

Nice App. This is a nice app for laying down ideas ect. If I had one wish it would be to be able to change the tempo of the drum tracks it has. With tempo change ability I would have given it a 5 Adding to this Seems to be no more updates. Though they were going to add more drum loops

Good but could improve. First off, its easy to use, with relatively intuitive controls. Please update with a landscape mode, being stuck in portrait is really annoying, especially for users with ipad cases which can be used as stands in the horizontal orientation (which is most of the cases out there). Also, a notes feature for every song would be cool, where you could input lyrics and such. While I'm at it, why not beat every other ipad recording app to the punch and become the first actual audio sequencer with an arrange page? 5 stars when landscape mode and lyrics come. Great value.

Works great-- a steal at the price. I bought the $40 multi track iPad app and it crashed and locked up every time I used it. This app is rock solid. I am torn on the kooky color scheme but it does make it easy to use.

Worth the money. Great app , I would love to be able to import an mp3 file into one of the tracks, plus being able to start recording any where instead of having to start at the top of the track would be nice.

Not For Guitarists. I purchased this a year ago and had asked the developer if it was normal to not be able to monitor the input. I was told that it does not provide for the monitoring of the recording input, not even with headphones. After a few major revisions, that feature is still absent and hence there's no way to appreciate what the guitar or for that matter mic is picking up, which makes it useless for improvisional composers like me. For the same price, Garageband is not much harder to figure out but far more sophisticated. Most importantly, it allows me to plug a guitar directly in (via USB or the audio input), select virtual amps and effects and hear the actual mix during while I compose and record. That's the least I expect from something calling itself a "portable studio".

However, NOT ONE user has contacted us with crashing issues and/or other problems regarding StudioMini XL. Love this App. I’m loving this app it’s definitely a lifesaver. I write children’s stories and was paying to record in professional studios. A friend introduced me to this app and I haven’t looked back. I still can’t believe all of this is on one app. It’s The Best!!!!!

Impressive. This app is the deal! I've been using it to get song ideas recorded before I forget them. If that was all this app did, it would still be worth the cost. It's also a nice jamming tool: you can record a rhythm, throw it on repeat and jam! Good times.

Needs Effects & A Editing Sequencer. Great App But It Does Need A Sequencer To Edit, Cut & Chop Vocals & Instruments & Some Decent Effects Like Reverb, Delay, Echo, Chorus & Flanger Ect That Would Make This App 100x Better For Recording Home Studio Quality So Please Add These Features :-) If It Was More Similar To The DAW App I wouldn't be as disappointed because the faders make it easier to mix i just want to mix and master my tracks more correctly on the IPad

Sweeeet!. This is a killer app! So easy my 9 year old picked it up and started recording her own songs on the ipad. And I'm loving it for the same reasons. No excuse now for forgetting new ideas. Also, Mr. Stamatakis, the owner and creator of the Studio Mini XL, responded to my email questions. I'm a guitarist and had some questions about using professional mics and amps with Studio Mini XL. He also informed me that he updated his website and has new videos for these specific questions. These videos are a big help and has cleared up some issues I had regarding hot recordings and what not. It is also easy to export the tracks and use with garageband or other recording software; allowing finer control with mixing. I have spent over a thousand dollars on gear in the past that doesn't come close to what this app costs! Super Cool.

Great App. Positives - Simple to use and record (direct connect my Yamaha keyboard into the iPad, StudioXL to record), rock solid when it runs (no crashes), the price is unbelievable compared to other recording software apps for iPhone/iPad. The wi-fi transfer from the iPad to GarageBand is easy and works every time. I sent several emails to the developers and they replied very quickly and created a section on their website that answered my questions. (Mixer connections to the iPad) The sound quality of the iPad is really good with this app and best of all, it's fun to use. It's exactly what I was looking for to leverage the power of the iPad and portable sound recording. Suggestions - the color scheme is Fisher-Price, it could be toned down and/or made to look more professional. When you put a track into record mode, you don't get a preview of the level until you begin recording.

Easy and simple..... I have an old tascam 4 track and is pretty much the same but simpler and the memory is not a problem... Excellent...

Pretty cool. I like this app. Simple, straightforward and easy to use. In need of a few features such as the ability to start recording from a time index other than 0 (unless I'm missing something), and the ability to amplify a track louder than it was recorded. Other than those two small requests, I like it, and I have used it a number of times.

Must Have !. This app is terrific! Record full songs or capture ideas in the moment. We use StudioMiniXL in our rehearsal studios. Our clients record their sessions. It is very easy to use. The sound quality will amaze you!

Easy to use, sounds great and super stable with no crashes.. I'm a singer and I've been using StudioMini XL for recording my songs over the past few months. It's really easy to use and what I like most is that I can start recording my ideas immediately. I've used other recording apps but I always keep coming back to this one because of that reason. I don't want to be constantly tweaking and lost in confusing menus, I want something straightforward that sounds and looks great and StudioMini XL is exactly that. Thank you to the developers!

Solid. Simple. Awesome.. There are only a few 5-star apps out there...but this one is a solid 4+. It's beauty is its simplicity. Record into it. Playback out of it. And (optionally) use some pre-recorded beats. It works. Perfectly. Every time. Web transfer of files over local network is very easy.

Easy Professional Recording. I just wanted a easy quality recorder that works on IOS devices. I have been impressed with the multitrack recording quality and options.

How do I add other instruments to a song. I'm don't understand how to put other sound to my songs.... And how do I email a song it doesn't go threw...

Prepare to be impressed. I got the iPhone version a while back and then got this when I got my iPad. Having more tracks and the bigger interface is pretty great. I'm a singer and I just love how fast I can record my new song ideas. I figured that if it's good enough for the Gorillaz to use on their album, should be good enough for mine, right? We've used tracks from StudioMini straight into Pro Tools for my new album. Great job on the iPad version, a nice companion to my iPhone StudioMini.

Nice app. I'm a long time musician, but a novice when it comes to recording. I was planning to spend some major bucks on some recording gear. Before I did, I thought I'd check out this multi track app. It's great and once I figured out how to switch on all the toggles, I found it very easy to use. The mix sounds great. I think I'll save my money and just us this app. Highly recommended. It even sounds great using the iPad built in microphone.

Record mixes from board at live shows. Great update! Love the new features, keep them coming plz! I'm a live sound engineer and use studiomini xl to record shows live from the mixing board into a stereo track. I then create mixes of songs in the app and email them to the band guys without needing my main computer which is great for me especially when I'm traveling on tour. The sound quality is almost hard to believe but definitely get an imic or one of the other usb interfaces.

Could be better. This app is not worth $9.99 there aren't any effects. The lay out is cool ,but what's a "recording studio" with zero effects u can't even pan on this app.... Needless to say panning still wouldn't make feel like it was worth what I paid for it.... I want my money back! I read the reviews thinking I would at least be happy ... But I'm not.

Where are the tools?. This has the appearance of functionality but I can't do anything meaningful with it aside from song sketches, can't find a mic input, no asio selector, no routing... Nada. Am I just stupid? It records and plays via the iOS onboard stuff so it gets a star, but this app sold itself as something better than what it is... I would like a refund. Wow. This is EXACTLY the music app I was hoping for when I got the iPad - it is a perfect "scratchpad" for tracks (I'm pretty amazed at the sound quality of the iPad mic). The addition of good quality backing drum tracks is also awesome. The fact that it is so cheap is a great bonus - saved myself $34 today and I'm very happy about that.

Fun, useful app for recording. Great little app. Recording was smooth and the export via wifi worked flawlessly with windows 7. A couple things I would like to see, pan controls for each track, ability to set the bmp, a way to import audio tracks, export to wav or aiff, and a way to append a recording to one already done. Maybe a user forum to discuss tips and stuff. A way to import more drum loops would be cool too. Do you know if this app would support a mixer connected via the USB connection kit? I am not trying to sound negative, I love this app and I would recommend it, especially for those jotting down some song ideas. Nice job!! I look forward to future versions!!!

Ignore the naysayers. If you want a lot of effects then GarageBand would be better, but this is an easy to use, stable, intuitive program.

Very impressive app!!. Man is this app great! I can't get over how easily I can record my music on my iPad 2 now. It's so easy to use I didn't even need to read the manual. Tech support is great too I had a quick question and they responded the next day with a super nice email. Rock solid app, go for it

Naw. This would be a great $.99 app. As is, it’s barely better than iOS voice memos. At least voice memos has a timeline. Rumors of punch and the like appear to be just that. Email option dead in the water. For this kind of money you can do FAR better. Please refund $9.00 of my investment and we both win. Thanking you in advance...

I like it. Great dependable app. Does what it says. I'd like to see a high quality reverb and delay effects added. Also, in the notes or songs section, the ability to setup set lists or play lists for the bands, singles and duos that use backing tracks with lyrics. A few cataloging options for live performance would add greatly to this app. Works with the io dock.

Great App BUT!. I wanted to chime in on this app... I use it a lot for multi track recoding songs I have made... It sounds great, it records great, and I find nothing wrong with that end of it..... BUT...... Getting music out of it is not easy to do... You must have an Internet connection, or make vain attempts at removing songs through ITunes File Sharing, which is at best not very easy to do! I don't believe it's the Apps fault, I believe it's Apple's.... I would like to see this app be able to record an MP3 or 4 in the future, and be able to post the song you made up on Facebook. Or even move it to your music library right from the app... Keep plugging away at it gang... It's a great App. And I have given it four out of five stars.....

Good but.... This is a good app and does what is advertised, but should cost less for the features given. Converting exported files is a little annoying. Features to add (please!): Export as wav Landscape mode Import wav (or any format!) Effects: reverb, comp, etc Adjustable input/mic gain (not just monitoring) Also, it's not really convenient for most people to also hook up a mixer for on the fly recording. Using the iPads mic can add lots of hiss and background noise. Adding a noise filter to help remove this would be an amazing step forward. Compared to the competition, the price is good but options are extremely limited. Works well for recording rough 1 track acoustic jams and just capturing song ideas. Adding some of these features would make it a higher rated app.

Motpom. Worth the money, but kinda of watered down tones and rhythm.

Great tool for the money. Great value, and dead simple to use. A few suggestions: -Why not orient the meters vertically directly below the channel strips, more like a real mixer channel? -What's nice about the app is the simplicity, but would be nice to be able to pan left/right. -Ability to more quickly edit tempo, and visual metronome would be nice for non-headphone recording.

Promising and easy to run. Studio Mini offers an intuitive and satisfying experience for recording multiple tracks. I particularly liked its looped percussion and metronome facilities. It has a no-brainier export function and I found the app a good intro to multi tracking generally. However there seems no way of doing a custom mix. For example if you want to briefly ease off or make more prominent a track, it does not seem possible. The sliders are effectively frozen at the same position for the purposes of a mix down. Also it would have been nice to have some effects such as reverb as part of the package or an optional plug-in. Also there's no way to set the placement of certain tracks in the stereo mix.

Great.. This is a great app for getting your ideas down quickly. Really fast and easy to use. Recommended

So Convenient for Composition. I have been using Studio Mini Mix XL for grabbing ideas for original songs. The drum loops are so helpful to set the groove and the ease to send to my computer and edit with Audacity make the app a powerful portable studio.

Studio mini Xl. Wow I'm freakin out . Just bought this and the sound is all distorted . HELP please ..?ill rate one star for now

Hoping for more. I was hoping to record my keyboards in stereo using the camera kit and the Griffin iMic. Even in stereo input mode, the keyboards record on a single track in mono. There isn't even any panning available. This is a completely mono app with no capabilities to punch in when recording tracks, or bounce to single tracks. I can't even monitor what I am playing through the iMic without using a seperate mixer. Very disappointing. I wanted to use this in conjunction with the Amplitube Recorder to add my keyboards, but obviously this is not going to work.

Much improved. New version is much improved, with mixdown, multiple formats, and new skin. I still wish it had transport controls on record but otherwise I have few complaints. This a very solid little multitrack app.

Simply The Best Multi Tracker. StudioMini is a great app for quick recordings. All so is great for writers block. Backing drums are extremely well put together. I wish the app would be updated with editing features and possibly punch in punch out. For a no frills app it's still the easiest multi track recording app out there.

StudioMini 2.2.5 is Back!. I have used StudioMini with my iPad Mini since 2013 to keep track of my songwriting ideas. A few months ago, I noticed an issue with headphone monitoring and contacted Support. They suggested a workaround and promised to fix the problem. I am happy to say that the latest version, StudioMini 2.2.5, is back to being the great little multitrack recorder I have depended on for years - awesome digital sound quality, great reliability and ease of use! Now I can add exceptional user support to the list! Well done, Otreus!

Show me da LOOPS !. This is truly a great songrwiting / quick demo app ! Compliments to the development team . Well done ! My wish for this awsome app is that you provide a constant stream of new drum loops to build a library from . More grooves and styles , etc .. These could be sold as upgrade packages . Also , a BPM adjustment controller would enable one to make greater use of the existing loop library . Keep up the great work ! Vancouver , Canada .

Well worth the price!. This is an excellent piece of software. I am a solo entertainer with a keyboard/sequencer and I direct a small church choir. It's great for making rehearsal tracks. Records quite well from the built-in microphone. At the moment I'm 15 minutes into playing with it and I find it very intuitive. I recommend it!!

Disappointing. It does what it says on the tin but a little disappointing for the money. There's no function to edit tracks, repeat tracks, edit BPM etc etc. the sound quality is good though. Overall, good app just overpriced for something so limited.

Recording studio. Fantastic program and easy to use. I have recorded my drums miked through my Berringher tuner as well as my Roland electronic drums with same system. I have garage band as well on my Mac but this crazy little app used with my I pad works incredibly. And the low price is a deal. No brainer...... great price and easy to use....even for a drummer........

good. This app is good my only complaint is the drum machine or beats is really just looping. It would be cool if this app could record other ipad instrument apps while running in the backround.

Reverb?. Well, I just bought this after looking after a few other music production programs. I don't usually post on these reviews but I had to on this one. With the price being around eleven bucks I defiantly had a few gripes. Well, actually just one main one. No reverb! None. If you have ever done any recording in the past you should know that reverb is essential. Other than not having reverb the app is just like any other free recorder except you and layer tracks and export them. Very nice app other than the reverb. It really bugs me. I emailed them and hopefully they will add this effect soon. I'll give five stars if you update guys!

Totally Sassy-fied man!. Nifty little app to have. Would like some panning options L/R and a trim nob.

Only Mic Input. Don't buy if you want to record through anything other than your pad/phones mic. This app would be very use if it interfaced with a direct input device. Until then it's utility is a TOY.

Ok so far, but.... Ok, but please please make it possible to adjust gain/input volume. Tried to record band practice, in the red the whole time!

Don't download. If no headphones are used, it picks up instrument just fine. When headphones are inserted, you can't play loud enough to record unless you're playing very loudly through an amp. This obviously shouldn't happen and keeps you from being able to use it as a multitrack recorder! Don't download!

Stinks. Don't waist your money. Doesn't do anything it say's it does. & They skeem you to purchase other devices you don't need. Bluefire does everything this is "suppose" to do. Ask for a refund? good luck...

Great Setup. Clean and intuitive interface. Quickly can lay down song ideas. The built in rhythm patterns are excellent and really help in the creative process. I would like to see software monitoring added. Then it would be 5 stars.

How do you cut music?. Can you pause the music so the singer can get a breathe and then play and keep going?

Tracks bleed. The tracks bleed from one to the other and is no editing ..no good for garage bands...I'm looking for smething like this that dont bleed and u can ad effects and edit tracks

Would be cool to be able to share with strangers you know show off talent it would be amazing.also lots of people don't play instruments on this app there are some people but I think you should make a echo effect and maybe make the voices louder,so like if I only did one recording it would be loud enough to hear please take these awesome ideas into consideration the more better you make this app into a real studio the more popular and whatever you do try to add not change.

Best thing since sliced bread!. As a VCR challenged person, this is so easy to use that even I can even use it. The sound quality of the recordings are absolutely phenomenal. All I used was a Sony condenser mic and recorded great live music. Great App! A must buy for any audiophile

Good. I like the app and its abilities. Needs a little more refinement interface, but that doesn't hinder its functionality.

Easy to Use and Great Quality. This app makes quick recording on the iPad simple and fun. It is a great tool if you write songs and want a quick way to record ideas. The sound quality is great even with just using the built-in iPad speakers. The file sizes are reasonable even in .wav format and all you do is browse to your iPad using your web browser to download your files for backup. If you plug your iPad headphone jack into your external speakers you can listen to what you recorded right away and it sounds great. Overall, this app does what it says and is nice and simple to use. My only request would be reverb as others have asked for which would really make for some great sounding recordings. Thanks.

It's worth far exceeds it's cost.. I spent five minutes with this app after installing it and went 'whoa,' BUT, I can't discover how to download the mix. r u kidding me? that knocked it down from 5 to 2 stars 4 me.

Very sick!. This program is just insane to be NEwhere and basically record a demo of ideas before tracking in the lab. Already using import export and it's a snap! Wow my iPad loves this app!

Niiice!. Love it!!

Fair. Only works in portrait. If you use the camera connection kit to connect USB mic it would be better to put the iPad in landscape. This is because if you're like me, you don't want to lay the iPad flat. I want it angled using a music stand or iPad case/stand. Can't do that. Can't find away to check incoming signal before recording. Don't think I'l be using this. Not the first iPad app I've wasted money on.

Pretty rockin. I like it. It's probably the best on the app store. However you can't edit the recorded tracks. But for recording it's great

Dissapointing. I bought this app to record guitar and vocals. The detail says multitrack recording. Well it seems that you can only record on one track at at time. I found that dissappointing.

Major Improvement!. Really dig this app now! Interface looks more professional and appealing. Just a few things in next update; Mute, Solo and Fader Automation. Also would be nice if app could be displayed in landscape position (important for when the Alesis iPad Dock comes out). That aside, the app is now my favorite for recording and is moving in the right direction with this update!

Fustrating and a waste of money, this is one of my fears when i dish out money for apps. This app would would be good, great even, but its not because is just does not perform.

Doesn't record stereo signal - no panning option. The drum loops are in stereo but you cannot record a stereo signal with this app...I tried every way I could think of, with a guitar interface, and also using an outboard mixer and all you get is a mono guitar signal, no panning left or right. Until this is added, I consider this $ wasted.

Customer Service doesn't exist. Don't purchase this! They are not available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. I have sent 3 emails with no response and 2 FB posts with no response.

Great app. Great recording app. Works very nicely and smoothly. No crashes here.

Bad Description. The description says recording studio for iphone and ipod touch, but this version is apparently iPad only just wasted $11... thanks.

thank you for very useful app. Love how this app works - it's so easy to figure out. Great sounding drum grooves too. I'd recommend to any musician.

Effects Missing. Great product except for the lack of effects.
