Love da Synth!. Haven't gotten too deep into it yet but so far so good. Has good sounds, is easy to use and makes me happy! I like!

Not compatible with own apps. Not compatible with mpc

Had it synth it came out (pun intended). I love synth. The sampler is fun to play with. It's fun to use like it's cousin DopplerPad. I'd like to see loop on the sampler and some reverse.

Nice. Needs better sounds and the interface is a little laggy

room for growth. entertaining, not groundbreaking. not pleased that it would seem that i have to buy the in-app update for both ipads on the same library and that it doesn't seem that one purchase would do for both.

lots of fun instruments, cool looking, cheap. great synth to mess around with, esp at 99 cents. i always use this app to show off my ipad, everyone has fun with the sample rec instrument.

Insulting.. If this app were made by a one-man dev shop, the shocking lack of features would be understandable, but ultimately still inexcusable. The fact that this app comes to us from Retronyms (makers of the fine audio app AudioCopy!!) is just plain insulting. Unless (and until) Retronyms put out a huge update, file this app in the 'former debutante's' section of the 'abandonware' junk yard.

Good, but .... .. needs recording, soundcloud, and audiocopy support. (Even if minimal.) With these things: definitely worth five stars.

Synth is great. Just an awesome application for $0.99 Works really well on the ipad. Would like more presets with next update. thx.

Not bad. A fun toy, nice delay effects. However, if it had some basic things like filter cutoff, resonance and maybe an envelope control, or an lfo rate, that would have put it over the top!

Cooooool App!. I love this app, with it being free I like it even more. Maybe enough to drop some cash to get the other instruments.

Incredible.. This is by far most amazing music app. Love the sampling. The keyboard is killer. Great use of the iPad form and screen. Well worth the small price.

Good for the price. The app itself has various instruments for the synth pad, which comes in great use. Though by itself awesome, this combined with another app written by the developers "Tabletop" creates the perfect package for music creation use for the price of free.

Ummm Not wonderful . . .. No ADSR with sampling, No Audiobus, I think I just got screwed by the IAP's which essentially are a complete disappointment .... I hope the developer improves this app & that I and likely many others don't feel burnt ... Has "potential" but that's about it .... Fix it up and I'll up my rating

Sequencer Support. It has great sounds, but no stand alone sequencer. it probably would've been better throwing this synth in tabletop as a better keyboard over the rs3 because of it's sampling capability. I hoping the MPC 2000 app for tabletop doesn't lack all these capabilities

Amusing. Fun and pretty simple to use for experimenting with sounds and noodling. Haven't noticed any bugs, and it sounds cool, especially for the price.

No updates for 3 years!!!. Really just a toy nowadays - surprised they would charge for this. No midi support, no IAA/Audiobus. It's stuck in the past of an iOS world that has moved way past what this app can do in music.

I love the sampler. Synth is a great time-waster for me. My favorite is to record some funny noise on the sampler and then play a little song. I can make my own cat piano. ;) Only downside is that my girlfriend hates on all my awesome cat music. The cats like it, tho.

Great Potential, Bad Stock Sounds. This is the most full-featured synthesizer available on the iPad at this time. It's range of sound supersedes the miniSynth and the built in sythesizers of Aurora Sound Studio and Bleep Pad, assuming you get the upgrade so you can edit your own sounds. The sound itself is not as warm as the miniSynth or as rich as Bleep Pad, but there are more parameters to modify, giving a greater range of possible sounds. For example, you can switch the filter from LP to HP. You can modulate 6 parameters at once with the mod wheel. You can modulate the pulse width of both oscillators for all waveforms. It has all the parameters you need to make really bizarre noises. It's best actually for creating really strange noises. The built-in sounds, in general, are pretty bad. You really have to get your hands dirty to get value out of this, but if you like doing that, you will like it.

AWESOME. BUT, my Bluetooth headphones are somehow not compatible with this app. works with everything but this app lol fix in next update? please? can I like rock'n wireless

fun synth. This app is fun, good sounds, haven't actually gotten to into it yet, basically recorded a few patches off it through an i/o into my tracktor.

The sampler is a blast!. The skins are fun too. Be sure to grab this free app!

likey. First rate. Using the unique sounds in my new compositions. The way you can slide your finger around creating almost like a theremin effect is cool.

Bluetooth audio out please!. I like this app, only I wish it had the option to choose what type of audio out I like to use. It won't play through a Bluetooth speaker setup.

Sounds amazing!. Never thought I'd hear really good synths before. This app has it. Only wish I could record loops and export stuff. Otherwise the app is great. Love the synth creator too!

Killer app..works as expected. Just what I was looking for

A very basic synthesizer with sampling. Fun! Easy to grasp. A definite must have for one's app library.

The Fall..need I say more?. Love this app. I like that it is simple because it forces you to be more creative. Sometimes to many bells and whistles are a bad thing. Two thumbs up.

Cheesy sounds. I got it thinking I'd play with the sampler part of it. The novelty wears off very quickly. The sampler also records for a fixed limit of time-- just a couple of seconds-- so if you're thinking of maybe leaving a friend a joke voicemail message in "chipmunk" voice, you can't. On top off it there are no built in effects and sounds are very poor sounding-- like an old CZ-101 but worse. The CZ actually can make some good sounds. This is toylike. Save your buck.

This is app is crap!. No MIDI support and it doesn’t work with their Tabletop app.

No recording features?..... Love the app and its simplicity but come on, no basic recording features? This app is basically meant to play around in.....

Seems OK. Not my favorite iOS synth, but it's capable and usable. Another of Retronyms' apps – Tabletop – is a MUST have. I will update my review of Synth after I've had more experience with it, but since it nagged me to write a review I can't give it as many stars as I otherwise would.

Good, could be great..... I love this little synth, but it really needs an up date. Things like Audiobus & CoreMIDI support would be a great place to start. It seems that Retronyms has put so much time into Tabletop & the Akai stuff that they have forgotten a really cool little synth that could be great with a little TLC. I will hold out hoping for it to happen.

No ADSR with the sampler. it's 2013 and this app still doesn't have ADSR when your playing in Sampler mode... if this was added i could actually use this synth. Below is my previous review, and as you can see things haven't changed. I've had this app for a while now, and only purchased it for the sampler section. I contacted the developer about adding an ADSR section to the sampler, but all they seem to care about is adding more in app purchases, one of which I bought, "the patch editor", but still........ No simple ADSR...... Something every other synth, or sampler would have......... Save your money and buy something else.

This nim doesn't crash. This very odd little synth reminds me of the CZ 101 for some strange reason (phase distortion synth) but nothing else on the iPad has it's very niche kind of interface . I like ! And a Retronyms product that doesn't crash is quite refreshing! Peace christo

Good synth and it's Free!. I gave it 4 stars ONLY because I also own Retronyms Tabletop which I would give 5 stars--I think if I were to purchase the Patch Editor for a mere $0.99, it would be worthy of 5. As a sound designer/musician I create all my own sounds so I don't use pre-made patches...however you can add delay, delay filter and distortion in the free version and they all sound good. The factory patches are also good, but for serious work, I recommend Tabletop by this same company.

Very nice. Nice keyboard to work on for any bedroom rocker out there. Thanks to the developers. Big UP'

Must have synth for iPad!. A very simple, but very useful synth!

What is this ment to be?. It is a cheap cheesy synth. The mod wheel works backwards. You cannot truncate samples after recording. The meager sounds that are supplied free are awful to say the least. Give this one a miss there are a lot better free synths to spend time on than this pile. It does not deserve to spend time on my iPad. BEGONE! Junk junk junk.

Pretty cool. Very simple easy to use does something's very well! Like to see it keep up.

Love...but.... Needs an upgrade for: audiobus, midi, and volume Control. I also think synth designers need to stop with the knobs and make sliders. So much easier on an ipad surface. Don't look as good but every one will thank you and wonder why no one has thought of this yet. Plus more space for more controllers when using sliders.

Very meh. I got this for free and I don't feel like it's worth anything more. There's no synthesis control at all. There are a few interesting sounds, but nothing unique. The best part is the Tron themed skin. It's actually a really cool skin. Otherwise there's not much going on here.

Pretty cool. This is a quite useful synth app without too many buzzers and whizzers. The rotary knob format would probably work better with sliders. Despite the intuitive design, I find building an iPad synth to operate as if it were manual a little odd. It's quant but in this case, why not reinvent the wheel. Otherwise as I stated very useful with some cool sounds.

Great synthesizer. Soundcloud support would be a cool feature to have.

Simple app. If you're looking for traditional instrument tones, you won't find them here. However there are a lot of space aged sounds for you to experiment with.

Perfect for my purposes. Got this app to help me learn music theory, particularly major and minor scale construction. It's been just what I wanted it to be: Simple and easy to learn. if only music theory were so easy.

Would Give 5 if I could save or export. Love all the variation of retro sounds, I would give it 5stars if only it could save or export :) please fix as I would love to use with Tabletop some how. Upgraded btw.

Feels great. Wow. The iPad is awesome for music. I can actually play on this keyboard. Chords work and there's a ton of built-in instruments. Woot.

Good. Sorta. When it works, it works wonders. However I've been switching between this and Figure and when I swipe to go back, sound no longer is outputted. I have to restart the app to get audio output again. Please fix it. I love the sounds but I need to be able to switch between apps and have this still work for me.

A blast. Great retro synth sounds, super responsive, and the sampler is fun too! Reminds me of my old casio

Sweet. Awesome easy to use little synth. The sampler could do with an adjustable threshold so unwanted noise is not captured in the samples being recorded tho. Cool free skins too!

A fun app for learning about a synthesiser.. I have always wondered about synthesisers so now I can have a go myself, without spending big bucks and cluttering up the place with another machine.

Fantastic. Great app for adding that weird little melody or sound to your recording. Loving it!

Bug notes. It is a very well presented app but I cannot find the instructions to fully utilise this applications. Also the pitch bar isn't staying in place when I change the pitch. It always reverts back to normal. Please check these out and I hope they will be addressed by the next update.

Cool. Ok. Now I know how Radiohead comes up with their albums. Lol.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Great sounds and easy to use

Pc. For that price I gave it a shot, worked for an hour or two then....no sounds, blew my investment I think.

Worth it's value. Definitely worth the money, only 1 dollar! Compared to other synthesizers this is considerably the cheapest on the market, and still was great for a beginner like me

Synth!. This is, in my view, one of the most playable iPad instruments yet, and the most complete synth emulations one could imagine. It's keyboard is the most responsive I've seen. The patch-editor upgrade is quite expensive, but definitely puts the icing on the cake.

Synth. Real good fun and easy to use

Love it. Great time waster!!!!

Love it!. This is a great way to fool around on synth, perfect for quick set up & play anytime. Love it!

Real. A great real feel and finish!

Add Audiocopy and audio paste. This synth could be a useful tool for your other application called tabletop, why don't you have support audio paste?

Decent. Overall good app. Not too much to complain about. Wish you could record what you play though

A posting. Pure lovely-ness. And oh so good, with a darn good helping of fun!!

Great keyboard app!. Great tool for learning piano.

Review. Nice app, good for what I need!

Great app. Very cool design

The schizzel!. Groovin' to the hypno jazz emanating from this wonder box.

Wow. Very nice!

No midi. This app sounds good and works well so far but cannot get midi keyboard to work with it. Other apps I have no problem with. It doesn't seem to be implemented with this one. Will there be a patch to allow this?

Awesome!. This is a great app that is easy to use and versatile.

Cool. Got it for my aspiring musician grandson. We both love it!

SYNTH. Cool!

Radness mos def. Check it

Syntha. This app is GREAT!! And when u use it 4 kompa!!! Whoosh

No Midi?!?. Great synth app but no Midi! What gives?! It's 2013, ant'e nobody got time for that!!!! Lol

Fun stuff. Been playing with this app ever since I got the new iPad and it's a ton of fun. Definitely brings me back to those old days of wailing on a little Casio, thinking I was playing 'The Final Countdown.' Pretty cool that Gorillaz used this on the new album, too!

BEST SYNTH EVER!!! (On Ipad). The Gorillaz used this app?! 0_0

in app purchase. decent sounds. need to restore my in app purchase and not seeing a way to do so. checked retros website and its almost like this app doesnt exist.

Love it!. Nicely Done

It is.... Amazing!

don't bother with the update. what others have said, shameful.

Awesome. Great synth effects! Wish I had some sort of drum machine preset to jam along.

A great synth, but...... No function to record and export files makes this app almost useless...

Fun. This is a fun app to have!

Can't save samples. Only reason I upgraded was because I assumed you can save samples. Can't do it. Bummer.

No Record or Export Function. My title makes it a deal breaker....time to delete this app

Dope. Thanks guys

The. BEEEEESSSSSTTTTT

No real updates just more overpriced IAPs. This app really hasn't been updated in forever...no new functionality just more overpriced in app purchases. You want to make some real money on this synth? Try selling the patch editor for two bucks and the new skins and patch pack for a buck...you'll prob sell a ton rather than a very few at the overinflated pricing.

No MIDI keyboard support!. Great sounds but lacks MIDI keyboard support, thus rendering this application almost useless...

Sampler fun. The sampler alone is fun and practical

Nice!. Cool shoes!

Are you kidding me?. 8.99 for the patch editor which I bought. And now 5 bucks for presets that should be an update. Insulting. It's not a great syth anyway. Much better out there that get regular updates and just out of curiosity tried to buy it. But its buggy and you can't. Thank god. The app ain't worth it! Btw , where is this introductory pricing they mention? It's been up since the app came into the app store, ; maybe they just kept it up because they figured eventually the iPad 2 would come out. They sucker you in with a nominal purchase and if you want to do anything at all you are looking at a 9.00 purchase. And if you aren't good with synths, then another 5 just for presets you could create. Your own. Who cares about skins? Really ballsy. Shame shame shame!

Nice. The best synth I have ever had, AMAZING!!!

Not very fun. But good

Doesn't Work with iMPC!!!!. Why doesn't it work with my IMPC??? I thought they would be compatible

Almost. It's almost really really nice but, you can't really do much with it. No Tabletop, no AudioBus, No Inter-App Audio. Just a synth.

What Could Have Been.. Don't get me wrong with my title, this really is a brilliant synthesizer. I love the presets that you can use with the keyboard, some truly unique sounds, not found in other ios synthesizers. But, for me, the big letdown was the fact that I just cannot find a way to record and export. I thought this function might be present in the paid upgrade. But, from what I surmise, there still is no way to record and export your track, even if you buy the upgrade. I assume that when "The Gorillaz" used this app to record content for their new album. That they had a bunch of equipment that allowed them to connect this app to their computer or gear, and record the output that way? Well, as you probably guessed, I am not part of that band, and I do not own a bunch of expensive tech to help me accomplish this. Or, maybe they didn't really use this app at all, who knows? I am always amazed, though, when a developer creates a wonderful music-making tool like this application, and purposefully omits any way for the user to save and export all of their hard work and time spent in the app. This is same case with those Jordan Rudess apps, no way to export your work, they just assume everyone has expensive gear to record outside the app, or, they just do not care. Either way, in my mind, it is a complete waste of my time and effort to spend time working on anything in these non-export music applications. But, if the need or want to save and export isn't on your list of requirements. Well, you probably will love this app, just like I did, up until the point when I figured out that I could not save my work and export it to a .wav or .Mp3 file. iPad 4 / ios 6.1

Sample save?. Bought your app for some sampling fun. Sampling fun indeed. Upgraded to save samples...party over <|*( Please update to save samples.

Bad $8.99 Upgrade. I assumed the upgrade would give ability to save samples, it does not.

Worst app ever. I made a big mistake buying this app. It sounds awful. Not worth the price. Will delete after this review.

way past its prime. this app's 5-star reviews are from 2010. no midi, no way to record its toylike sounds. but you get it all for a buck. not worth a penny more.

GREAT!!!!!!. Could we Plz hav audiobus support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet. Pretty cool gig

has potential but no copy/paste makes it useless. no copy/paste makes this useless. i will give more stars if this critical feature is implemented till then sorry guys back to the drawing board hope ya get it right one of these days, i dont like to see anyone fail.

Synth just okay. Why can't I record my work!!!!!

Please wait! Synth app comments loading...
