Best offline dictionary. i have been learning spanish for over 3 years and have even traveled to spain to really get a feel of spains dialect (since i want to move there) and during my time in spain, so many areas i was without service or just had junk wifi, and this app literally without a doubt saved me from being locked out of my hotel room because i didn’t know how to say room key. this app won’t give you a translated sentence, it keeps it simple and word to word, no adds whatsoever and overall just a really good app that i’ve used during my travels and time studying spanish. 10/10

Great for translators and language learners. This app is a wonderful recourse for interpreters and translators, as we are continually expanding our professional vocabulary. Along with a very comprehensive dictionary, Linguee contains a database of actual translations of different terms and phrases so you can see in context which works best for whatever you’re working on. The ability to download the dictionaries also facilitates being able to use them at moments notice. I use it every day and if you work in the language industry or are studying a foreign language, you should too!

Perfect tool for any skill level. I am a native English speaker who speaks Spanish well, but not often. For the speaker whose grammar is good, but who needs an active vocabulary of the words you commonly use in English, Linguee is the perfect tool. It’s a very comprehensive translation engine for anyone seeking the context and subtlety that matches the way you normally speak English, without having to flounder around in a static vocabulary dictionary. The beauty is that there are scores of snippets of published speech, so you can easily and quickly choose the translation that most closely matches the closes sense of meaning you intend. I have searched quite a bit, and have yet to find a better product for learning, and for keeping my vocabulary growing. It really works well. -Scott Portland, OR.

Good but no keyboard shortcuts. Pros: It works and is often more useful than other dictionary apps Cons: It’s kind of janky (e.g. the search field will re-populate the last query a few seconds after the app opens fresh, making it hard to open and search quickly). The app itself would be better with keyboard shortcuts especially for iPad use. Better than most translation-oriented/dictionary apps nonetheless.

Contextual clues make it great!. For every word there are many examples, many sentences, that show exactly how whatever you are looking up is used in daily life. This is so much better than ordinary dictionary‘s they just give you a definition but don’t show you how people use it to communicate. Ordinary dictionary‘s lead to very stilted and awkward conversational skills in Portuguese. The real value of this program comes when you reach intermediate skills, and can appreciate the value of knowing the many ways a word is used in ordinary conversation. This is not to say that it has no value for a beginner, it does. But it has my conversational skills got better I can do appreciate more the incredible design of this program.

Great service, frustrating app bugs. I use Linguee dozens of not hundreds of times a day learning German. I am a huge fan! However it also means if I’m running into the same issues all the time, the app freezing, being unable to type / search when returning to the app, it gets really beyond frustrating. I feel like I’m at a point where I don’t want to use another app for my go to mobile dictionary, but I may need to. I think the issue may lie with suspending the app while searching, and it not handling this event properly. Without this one bug of being able to quickly search a term without clicking on a search result causing the app to freeze or sometimes crash, it’s effectively everything I want in a multi-lingual dictionary. Please fix this y’all ;_;

Innovative app in language translation. I love that feature where you select and copy a word and switch (or in iPad, multitask) to this app and the appears. Of course it also so helpful to be able to compare multiple translations already done by others. The different approaches taken with similar texts allows you to choose the way you want to go in terms of learning phrases or doing translation yourself. Fantastic! It would be helpful if there were a way to easily choose between the set of translations and the dictionary portion—an ability to switch back and forth.

best foreign language ever. I've been through several dictionary apps but Linguee is the best of them. Like other dictionaries, it shows lots of alternative meanings and their examples; besides, there are examples for rare words even when they dont appear their meaning ('cause the word is too long), so that I can understand. The word appears on the app right after being copied from the text is another plus, how convenient! Just on the way to conquer another language but it feels like I'm such a lucky beginner with Linguee-fellow alongside

Best Translation App to Date. I’m primarily using this for French, and I have to write a review to say that this has by far been the best app I’ve downloaded for translations. They have just about every translation for every possible meaning of a word, and if that wasn’t enough the examples they give you at the bottom are native speakers using that word in context. It has everything you could need and more when it comes to precise translations. The only gripe I have with this app is how much it freezes and crashes. Searching up a word can take up to 5 whole seconds to process. The web version is much smoother, and if you can, I would recommend using that over the app at the moment. However, if you need translations offline, this is still a great translater app and site in general.

Best language dictionary app. It’s the best language dictionary app. I have bought and tried every one I could find and Linguee is the best by far. I am a student learning French and I use it every day. I use it less since I have moved into intermediate level but when I started a year ago Linguee was a huge helper for me. Having tried every other app I could find I can say confidently that they are not as easy to use. There is nothing even close.

I wish I could give five stars. This is the best dictionary app, hands down. But I’m giving it 1 star simply because it crashes and freezes constantly. I’m sure the developer is busy with deepL, but apps crashing really should be a thing of the past, especially given that this is just a repackaged port of their website. Also, when you tap the search bar, it will not automatically select and/or clear the previous input, so I find myself constantly typing a word, realizing it’s sandwiched up against my previous search term, and going in to edit it. This is a pretty small thing, but then again, it’s contrary to basically all other search bars, and annoying to have to do again and again.

Excellent, but lost quick “share with” feature in iOS 13?. Excellent app, particularly for the contextual sentences and list of prominent collocates (the latter of which seems only to be found in Linguee!). It does seem that the ability to look something up directly from another app (say Safari for example) no longer functions with the new iOS 13 update. I really miss that feature, as none of the other translation/dictionary apps quite match what I was getting from Linguee (Reverso is close, and I use it every day in other scenarios, but I prefer Linguee for this particular use case).

Muy útil!. One of the better translation apps out there, especially for tricker words. Example- the English word “cell” has at least 4 common meanings. Jail cell. Cell, as in microorganism. Cell- short for cellular phone. Cell- a group of spies/terrorists in a country. These different uses are listed, and the appropriate translation listed. Then, you are provided numerous examples in context. This app is NOT MEANT to translate large phrases! It is designed as a dictionary. Use it as such, and you will be very satisfied! (Native USA English, learning Spanish and Portuguese)

One of my favorite app for many reasons!. Love this app. I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s quick, I’m able to find different popular true meanings in many languages, never has crashed, ever! I love how it gives you many translations of on word, tells you the most common to least common, with written examples. This app is great for anyone who is learning another language, who knows another language or just for fun.

Almost good but fatally flawed. I’ve been using this dictionary a lot over the last few months. It has a lot of great features. For instance, it will show you idiomatic phrases related to the word you’re looking up. This is really handy. It also will show you examples of the word in action, culled from the web. It is however, unstable and more dependent on Internet access then it claims to be, even if you’ve downloaded an offline dictionary. Periodically after a dozen or so look ups the application starts to get very slow. Often I will type of word and nothing happens for 10 to 15 seconds. Over time this gets worse until finally the only recourse is to force quit the application and restart it. This morning I reached the final straw. I fired up the app and noticed that it said I didn’t have an Internet connection, which I totally did. Looking upwards now simply spawns a spinning wheel and never any definitions. So I guess I’m done with it. It’s too frustrating.

best and deepest translation engine. The best and deepest translation engine I have ever used. It defines the word, sure, but it also pulls actual usage from real texts. This is extremely valuable for understanding words in proper contacts and in many different usages. I use it every day and my studies of German, usually multiple times a day. It has become a sensually for me. I highly recommend it to anyone studying or speaking German.

Practical and helpful. I use it for German-English, and find its translations to be reliable, the examples very helpful in understanding context and usage. But my favorite feature is that it asks you later (on the lock screen) if you remember words you’ve recently looked up. Spaced repetition like this is well understood to improve recall. It’s great to see that the app developers understand that when I look up a word, I don’t just want to see the translation. I want to *learn* it. Love the app!

Great translation, poor loading. Able to see words translated with full context and further references as well as examples used in a sentence. My only problem is swapping between apps or just loading the page is often very slow and is glitchy roaring the keyboard. When pulling up the app once it’s already open it will very often take 5-10 seconds to load and respond and very often not load what I had previously.

Awesome!. I use it for English to German translations. I can enter a word or two and the app provides a number of choices. Additionally, there are English sentences which are translated into German so that I can find the word being used in various circumstances. This is so helpful in finding the correct useage! It’s very handy when reading online. I don’t have to find my dictionary or open another website-just go to the app and check. An additional useful feature is the back arrow. It allows you to revisit the translations of words you recently looked up so that you can reinforce your memory. And yet another feature is pronunciation. You can press the button and the pronunciation will be supplied. It’s a wonderful app! Thank you very much!

I love this app so much that I’m writing my first ever app review on it. My French 3 teacher recommend this app to my class since it can give you better definitions as well as examples for single words. I’ve also used it for Russian, and one of my best friends who is half Russian also says it’s pretty good too so take that as you will. I just don’t like how you can’t do full sentences, but then again, that’d be less accurate I’d think. All in all I’d give this a 9.5/10.

App no longer works but used to be great.. This app hasn’t worked for me since iOS 14 which is a shame because I’m a language student and it used to be so good. But even before iOS 14 I don’t believe it had been updated for quite some time. There was one bug (when it worked) where you could not see the beginning of what you were typing into the search bar. When I first started using this app I never had that issue. Just before writing this review I deleted and re-installed the app and I also experienced the “pasted from” issue which others have mentioned. Please fix this app, I miss it!

The only dictionary app I use (for German). This app is amazing. It is very clean looking, easy to use, and available for offline use. My favorite part is the online feature which shows you the use of words in context from the internet. This helps me see how words are used in idioms and phrases, which case certain words take, and reminds me of the grammar rules I’ve forgotten since I last took a language class. My only complaint is that there is no Turkish. I would love a German-Turkish or Turkish-English dictionary on here, especially since I’ve been unable to find any truly trustworthy Turkish dictionary apps. Thanks so much for an amazing product, and hope you add more languages in the future!

My favorite multi-lingual dictionary. Linguee is a must-have reference app for language learners! It is so easy to use my mom could do it. It offers many languages and it’s easy to switch between them; it even suggests a language if you have the wrong one selected. The example sentences are simple enough to help me understand the connotation of whichever word I’m looking up, and they introduce other new words. Often I can figure out those new words from the context. I love that it automatically looks up whatever is in my clipboard (eg from another app), especially while multitasking with Linguee beside a foreign language text on my iPad. The only thing I would add is verb conjugation. It’s still the best even without that! ¡Muchas gracias!

A Study Help. For the past several years I have tried to keep my Portuguese language skills sharp. As I read Portuguese and try to improve my comprehension of vocabulary as well as grammar, I find that Linguee facilitates the process. I would recommend this app to anyone trying who has similar goals for staying current in a language that they do not use on a daily basis.

Privacy concerns with app. First of all I love the service and the function it provides. However, the app refuses to do anything without local network access, and Linguee is very dodgy about revealing what it is needed for. They claim it is to access an “integrated network server,” which from what I can tell is basically nonsense jargon to confuse people into clicking ‘yes.’ When questioned in an email they responded that they “cannot disclose any further technical details about our app,” which seemed like a very strongly worded non-answer if it really was something simple and benign. They won’t even let you use your offline dictionaries. You either grant them unfettered access to your local network and connected devices or you don’t use the service. I’d love an explanation of what could be so important and why they must be so secretive about it.

The best German dictionary, held back by extreme stability issues. Linguee is my absolute favorite German dictionary. Great examples, great layout, and overall much more reliable. However, as a rating for this app, it has absolutely horrific stability issues. Switching between apps, to copy a word for example, will cause the entire app to freeze. If the app is restarted while frozen, it will crash the next time it opens. This may not sound so bad, however with the frequency I switch between apps while using Linguee, it holds it back from being as useful as it could be.

Great additional app to utilize for Language Learning Needs. As we all come short in perfection, so does this App, ... however, utilizing his app alongside a regular translation app like Google Translate will absolutely help you cross examine your target language adequately enough to maintain a high level of interpreting and understanding texts. I personally believe that this is how the app should be intended to be utilized. This app helps gives everyday usage and perspective while a translator gives more direct translation and linear thought.

Crash often, poor privacy. This app used to be good, but after it starts to require my local network permission it starts to crash frequently. I use my iPhone 8 to study German, now it is to a degree that affected the fluency of my study. A fact that might be relevant is that I use 3D Touch to switch between other apps and this app. 1 As a dictionary app, it requires local network access without explanation. 2 It crashes often.

Good dictionary, fast searching. I am really enjoying the Linguee dictionary so far, and my review focuses on the Portuguese/English portion. The app is very good for finding words quickly—suggestions pop up as you’re typing, and the suggestions even include similarly spelled words. This is particularly useful when you’re not entirely sure how a word is spelled. The translations so far are very good. I really like the examples given below the definitions—seeing words used in the context of a sentence helps cement it in the brain better. However, the dictionary could really use a “favorites” or “flash card” option to review words and phrases. While there is a history of recently searched words, an option to save particular words/phrases would jump this app up to a five star review.

Bad Pronunciation - unclear word stressing. I’ve been using Linguee for a long time now and I’ve been using the German-English part which is definitely very good and everything. However two things bother me: One of which: I don’t know why but whenever I write something in the searchbox it removes what I wrote and writes me previous search in it again and that’s just too annoying. Secondly, although the pronunciations are good and all, you CAN NOT AT ALL find out the word stressing.

An AMAZING translation App !!!!. This app is a surpising gift for any student. You can download its Dictionary, it directs you to all of the top alternative Internet references, it provides an AMAZINGLY practical resource of many contextual uses for most words, it appears automaticaly in different forms for instant reference and use, it allows convenient “drill-downs” for amplification, relevant synonyms, ‘frequent-use’ suggestions, Instant contextual capturing as you type, and more. As far as I can tell, these German developers saw a “need,” and made and fullfilled a commitment to flll it. Congratulations to all! And Thank You!!!

Excellent translation app, minor UI bugs. I use Linguee a lot to translate from Spanish, and it’s really helping me a lot, especially when the text involves idiomatic expressions — which generally don’t translate well in word by word format. I like almost everything about the app. There is into a small UI glitch when typing text on latest iOS and latest app version, which hides part of the typed text under the left corner of the input field. This makes it hard to correct mistyped letters in the beginning of words. Except for this minor UI glitch, everything is amazing though.

Linguee is a great dictionary. I typically use more than one source when I am studying. Typical dictionaries give you different definitions and some examples but infrequently do they give you context. Linguee gives you that context in a variety of actual examples drawn from actual texts. Other dictionaries can “tell” you what a word means but rarely can they give you the “feel” of the word and it’s proper use. Definitely I recommend Linguee!!!

Bogus app request for network permissions. This app is very suspicious. First, they avoided updating their app for ages to avoid filling out the now mandatory “App Privacy” section of the App Store entry. Second, it will not run without access to the local network, claiming it needs to connect to a server that it runs and it’ll never connect to any other service. This does not make sense from a technical perspective: iOS does not allow apps to start services. At all. Ever. Google it if you don’t believe me, a professional developer. This explanation does not make any sense. Finally, when I gave up on the app and jumped over to their website, I found more cause for concern. Like the rest of the internet, they added the EU-mandated “do not track” box with a little on/off slider, but they intentionally implemented it in such a way that it is hard to operate: you have to tap on it many times for it to toggle. These developers are clearly not being honest with us. That’s too bad, because this was a nice app I’d have been willing to pay for (even subscribe to!) if they weren’t so sketchy.

Used for English-French Translation. I use this app all the time. I’m American living in France, learning the language. I loved being able to download the vocabulary because I don’t have data most of the time. The example sentences were also one of my favorite features. However, I found that there were not very many food name translations (this could be because of many reasons), however it would have been nice to be able to use this app more for understanding menus. Overall, really love it, so helpful but can still improve!

Context matters. I’d been depending on Google Translate, which is quite useful — until it isn’t. Google generally tells you what a translation is, and leaves it to you to reverse translate it to make sure it’s what you meant (and even then, there’s no guarantee). Consider the word still. Maybe you mean “I still want this.” Maybe you mean “This lake is so still at 8am.” Or maybe you make whiskey in a still. In Portuguese, at least, these are different words. When Google translates for you, do you *really* know which one it’s suggesting that you say? The wrong word will mean your reader will have ZERO idea what you mean, like: “I elephant want this.” Linguee tells you the part of speech for each word, gives many examples with the word uses in context, and helps you understand different ways the word can be used. I’ve found it helpful to clarify and to expand my vocabulary. I still use Google Translate often — it’s great for certain things — but when I really need to be sure of something, I use Linguee.

Have not found anything that even comes close!. Linguee is the app I have wanted for years and only in the last year discovered. The way words are laid out (I’m mostly using the German to English and English to German) with lots of examples in context is so helpful for teasing out the nuances that you want to employ or avoid. I do a lot of checking of my translations and word usage and Linguee is spot on.

Great app! Offline dict; sample sentences; related searches; sometimes limited in scope for slang. I love this app. Besides the big database of real example sentences, my favorite feature of the app is the drop-down list of phrases using the search word, that updates while you’re typing. You can also download dictionaries for offline use. The only downside I’ve encountered, it doesn’t do well (for Spanish at least) with slang words and phrases; for those, I typically have to look somewhere else. Still 5 stars for a GREAT app!

Great Resource - Horribly Buggy. This app itself is very useful. It is however, also very frustrating to use as nearly after every single time I look up a word, jump to another app, then back to Linguee, that the app freezes or doesn't load. The only way to fix it is to close the app and relaunch. It's very frustrating that this happens so often and it's been doing so for about the last 2 years or more, leading me to use it less and less. Please fix this issue!!!

Absolutely worth it, but tends freeze. The app is incredible considering it’s free. I like that you can download the dictionaries for free, and I really appreciate the fact that I can search multi-word phrases to translate. The main problem is that the app freezes all the time and is often slow and buggy. If this gets fixed, the app would be perfect.

Great app but slow on older phones. I love this app, and will continue to use it to see if my issues get better. I’m on an older iphone and it takes an average of 3-5 seconds for the app to start responding to input. this generally starts unnoticeable, and as i search more it compounds until it’s faster to restart the app. I love the design, content and UX but the delay makes this app really frustrating for me to use. No hate towards the developers, y’all did a great job and it seems most people are loving it c:

Great app with a few issues. I find this app for German vocabulary to be invaliable and easy to use most of the time. It has many good features and the examples are very helpful. It still freezes up regularly, which is very annoying. But the biggest problem I have with it is that a user cannot increase the font size of the text, which is very small. These things need to be fixed, then the product would deserve five stars.

Happy User. In order to keep up with my German, I’ve made a commitment with a friend to read at least five minutes of German every day, and then I sent her a text. She does the same thing except she is reading Swedish. This accountability is fun and it also works. I found the Linguee app extremely helpful, easy to use and very satisfying. I feel like I’m learning so much from it. I highly recommend it to other friends who read foreign languages.

Get the true meaning. When I was in Japan, I asked a couple if they would like a picture together. The boy protectively grabbed his girlfriend and ran off. Without realizing it, I used the inclusive form of “together”- I asked them to take a picture with me! If I had this, I wouldn’t have had that problem! Linguee gives you verified translations that help you find the matching nuances between the two languages. It surpasses dictionaries and gets you closer to asking a native speaker. I can not recommend this enough.

Real Life Tool. I speak fluent German. I learned it in school and studied it as a college student. I use German almost everyday in my work. But even for the best foreign speaker of a language there is sometimes a certain phraseology or wording that you know would be better in a certain situation. Knowing these nuances is what sets apart native speakers from fluent foreign language speakers. This app bridges that gap and makes it possible, especially in writing, to express yourself more clearly, precisely and in a way that a native speaker would.

Requires permission to explore your home network. Upon first launch, this app asks for permission to “find and connect to devices on your local network”. It claims to need this in order to connect to an “integrated network server”. As someone who’s done systems and network administration for three decades now, I don’t know what that is, and I’m pretty sure I don’t have one, so I denied permission… and then the app simply does nothing. I could enable the setting and allow it, but then that lets the app have access to my home network? No thanks. If it needs Internet access, that’s fine. If that’s what this means, then it’s horribly presented. And according to a forum I found online, the company responded to someone else with this query with a very unhelpful response, so… 1 star, and app deleted. Sigh… I’ll keep looking.

The only thing . . .. I love this app! Definitions, examples, parts of speech, pronunciation. I’d love if conjugations were provided. But the only complaint I have is that the app freezes up and I often have to close it and open it again. I’ve noticed this on my iPhone but not on my MacBook. Another suggestion: Flashcards and games for words I choose as I build my vocabulary. Overall, great job Linguee!

Amazing app, needs small changes and fixes. The app is truly amazing, the content is well written and the design is fantastic, but I wish that the “pronounce” button is right beside the word without the need to press on the word and then press the pronunciation button, this will save a lot of time and effort when reading a hard article and you need to translate and hear the pronunciation of a lot of words. Also “look up for clipboard” option does not work in split-screen and sliding view. Other than that everything is amazing.

Very Glitchy. Have had the App maybe about a week now, and almost every time I access the app, it will freeze up on me. I won’t be able to give any keyboard input and none of the app’s controls will work. I can close the app, come back to it at a later time and all will work fine. I give the app 4 stars only because the content is so good. Every time I get a notification of app updates, I’m hoping Linguee will have one to fix this problem, but no such luck.

Pretty good. I’ve been using this app for a good while. But the app hasn’t updated in 2 years. These days since the last iOS 14 update, it started glitching. It keeps saying “Linguee pasted from Wikipedia” or from whatever source you paste from - endlessly, and sometimes without even pasting anymore. The auto clipboard-pasting used to be useful while reading, because it cut some time and gestures if you want to do a quick search. But now, I just had to turn it off. If they don’t update a fix, and you like this app, this ⤵️ is the best option. To make it so clipboard doesn’t automatically paste the word you copied from somewhere: — 1. Open options ⚙️(gear shape on bottom right). 2. Switch off “Look up clipboard content“. 3. Close and reopen app. Now it should be fixed. —- I just paste things myself now. No big deal. Regular review: Linguee is very useful while reading in languages like German and Spanish, and you come across something like “ Das hat geklappt “ or “ imitar “ . It gives some examples of how to use words in sentences, as well as other possible meanings.

Input field issue. I heard this is a great app but when I try it on iPadOS 14.6 the Input Field doesn’t work Also why do you need local network?

5 stars, although I would love a feature. I often look up the same word more than once, and would love a feature where I can save words to photos. I think this would help build up vocabulary and make it easier for people to transport the words to a quiz app or something. Regards, thanks for the great app

Awesome digital dictionary format. Awesome digital dictionary format and an incredibly productive tool for learning your target language as once you have a small grasp of the language you can use the full phrase and sentence translation to examine the form and function of the words and phrases of your target language, i like it so much that I sometimes donate to the creators when I have spare change in my account forget Duolingo, this is the way to do it

Useful App. Very handy. Good to see words used in a variety of contexts. I like that you can hear the correct pronunciation of a word

Doesn‘t work on iOS15 anymore. Even with downloaded dictionaries there is no result since iOS15 update. Was a great useful app before.

An excellent learning tool. I have found this application very useful. It helps me bilingually and expands my vocabulary significantly.

Fantastic when learning. I found this to be the most helpful app when I was learning and trying to determine the gender of words. I highly recommend it!

Language is phrases, not words. Linguee is the next step above in learning translation because it deals not just in words, but phrases, colloquialisms, metaphors and rich context.

Not compatible with iOS 14. If you have an older iOS version then this app is brilliant. However, it no longer works at all in iOS 14. A real pity :(

Incredibly useful. I speak German with my kids and parents-in-law. Linguee is the most important language resource I have ever found. It provides more subtlety and nuance than any static dictionary.

C’est la meilleuere!. Such a good app for learning French. Much better than Google translate. The example sentences and pronunciation button are great features.

Practical usage examples. I’m really pleased with the wide variety of examples provided by Linguee for any given word or phrase. Reading through the examples rarely fails to turn up one that suits the required context. It is a very practical app for anyone with an interest in language, be it for personal or business use.

Better than any other ones. Je l’aime beaucoup. Merci.

Concise and accurate. Concise and accurate. Especially like the offline dictionaries, for free too! There are very few free apps nowadays with as many features as Linguee

Super App. The top app for looking up words and understanding their context of use. For each definition it provides examples and then a series of real life examples where the word was used. A suggestion would be to add the Präteritum and Perfekt forms of irregular verbs. That would be heaven.

Love this app. Someone else mentioned this app to me as they were learning English (my native language). It greatly helps me when learning German 👌. 10/10 stars for Linguee

Helping me enormously in mastering complex German vocabulary. After studying steadily for the last year I am now able to read German mainstream and business news with a 3-5% unknown-word rate. That means I can reasonably get the gist without a dictionary. But this was only achieved through systematically working through articles using iPad tools including Linguee. Much of this complex vocab involves terms with multiple meanings, or terms that need to be understood as phrases, not single words. That's why Linguee was crucial to this mastery.

So good. Best online foreign language dictionary I’ve ever used

App always crashing. This is my favourite translator app and has ALL the information related to any word and is almost flawless. The main problem however is that the app crashes after every second word I search. This is extremely frustrating and the developers need to urgently look into this. For reference the app is installed on an iPhone 12. Please rectify this.

Best dictionary ever. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Free multi-language dictionary with offline mode and access to external sources such as Wikipedia. A clean layout and super easy to navigate. Keep up the great work!

Excellent tool for language learning. Have been using Linguee for years. At the moment using it to learn German. Absolutely invaluable in helping me to learn words, particularly the more complex ones, in their proper context.

Super. This really fantastic. It was recommended by my German teacher and it puts the vocabulary in proper context with examples of phrases. Highly recommended

Privacy Issues. Great app, but why does it need local network access on iOS to work? There is no adequate explanation in the app which makes me suspicious. I will be deleting the app until I know what it will do with such access.

I don’t know why I can’t get the offline dictionary downloaded. This app is fantastic, but there is a problem for me to download the offline dictionary, please let me know how. Since when I click on the download button, the time bar is not working… Please reply to this review. Thanks in advance!

Many features + offline. The best language app! with text examples, pronouncing, offline available etc. all the features I needed and for free, thank you!

Your dictionary. It’s yis v. Good but can you also put Cantonese voice and a bit more explain action on the english too

Fantastic! And free, with no ads!. It's really useful to see example sentences, and real transactions from the web. I have tried many translation apps, and this has the best design and the best combination of features. The only thing I would like is verb conjugations, so that if I search for "comprendre" for example, I could easily find "compris" etc. But that's a small thing.

Brilliant!. Quite simply, Linguee has become my ‘go to’ reference supporting my French studies at Alliance Français. I love the multiple examples -in context - for each word or phrase that I am researching. It’s so good & so interesting that I have to stop myself browsing!

Excellent for language learning. Love this app and how it searches for uses of the phrase in question via online sources. The fact that it also gives you more often than not example sentences of many of the various uses that a word has is also really helpful. The app does have a tendency to freeze occasionally and it would be great if this could be fixed, but it still deserves at least 4.5 stars

Fantastic. This app is super. Excellent vocabulary and the ability to download dictionaries so it works offline. First rate!

Easy access to vocabulary in context. This app is perfect for those times when the exact word is on the tip of your tongue but you need to be sure it fits the context exactly.

Once was the best. Actually the best translator app out there, but: Since iOS 13 there has been an alignment issue with the input field which was annoying but still useable. But with iOS 14 the app is not working anymore at all.

Good app BUT.... I always liked the app and have used it a lot but unfortunately, since my phone updated to iOS 13, the search input had a left alignment issue and since iOS 14, the app is not working anymore at all.

Amazing!. I can memorize the words through sentences and small texts.

My go to dictionary. My native-speaking French teacher recommended this one and she was right. Three years of use now confirms this.

Amazing app to improve vocabulary and understanding.. The app is really useful, it help me a lot to improve my vocabulary in English and the understanding of words in a bunch of contexts. The only thing I think that would be developed in the app is to give us the opportunity to create a note where we can save the words we want to improve and maybe would be create flip cards.

Very useful app. Apart from a weird bug with the search field where the first letter of the word you type is not visible, I love this app. Very quick and easy way to find the meaning of words I read in German, and I like the real life examples of usage.

Hooray! It’s working again. Hooray, the search field and iOS14 issues have been fixed. Pity it took a hammering from reviews to get the developers to act. I had deleted it and gone to a competitor; glad to see it’s back, but please talk with users.

Give it a go.. The best ever one!

Great app but.... ...same issues since iOS 13 left alignment with the word input and since iOS 14 doesn’t work at all. So sad, best translator in my opinion.

Great app. best dictionary It has been very helpful on my studies

Great but.... Excellent dictionary. Love the examples of words in use that are pulled from the web. But! It would be perfected by the addition of verb conjugations.

Gaensel. This app is so good I’m looking for the catch. I can choose to load dictionaries wifi or via my provider. I can choose offline from within the app. Translation is adequate offline but online - WOW The variety of dictionaries is good too. I use English and French

So useful!!. This app is so good!! Under the definitions you get example of usage in sentences!! And it’s a multilingual dictionary !!!

You can look for the word in both languages. Search the English word then it give you the French mot, search the French mot then it gives the English word, very useful for learners !

Best translation App. I love this App - it is very informative and gives you many possibilities which allows you to make a better informed decision! 👍

This app is the bomb. Wow, its great, it has so much features, i can ask a phrase and it shows me how its used in a sentence plus i can click a word and it will show me the sound

Impressive site. An extremely useful site! I use it often.

Indispensable. This is a smart and valuable idea. Time and again Linguee comes to the rescue after my conventional French-English dictionary app (for which I paid) has let me down. Highly recommended.

Pretty good. So far no problem, which is better than most I’ve tried.

Was great but broken on iOS 14 on iPhone 7. Was a great app until it’s broken now on iPhone 7 with iOS 14. Any search either shows a blank white screen or gets stuck at the loading screen forever. Once this is fixed, I will reconsider the rating.

Updated phone now I’m having issues!. Updated my iPhone and now when I copy and paste something from twitter for example, the “copied and pasted from twitter” banner keeps popping up over the search bar and I can’t see what I’m typing. I have tried deleting the app, shutting off my phone, and countless other efforts but nothing seems to work. Love this app, will rate 5 star once the glitch is resolved and the app is updated.

Consultation. Rapide précise et informative O

Why so there not English to French. I’m trying to translate things to French from English and I can’t cuz there is no English to French

Not working with IOS 16. I updated my iphone last night with the new ios 16, and ever since this morning, I couldn’t use the search bar to search translations. Please update because this has been one of the most helpful apps to me

Local network access needed. Local network access needed for some reason. I don’t understand why. Seems strange and the developers don’t disclose why. Seems invasive. Deal breaker for me.

sans phrase complète. Le

An indispensable online tool for writing French. I am good at French but writing important documents needs this app. This app replaces your constant use of French Dictionary and gives you instant different layers of meaning of different words. The outstanding feature of this app is providing you instant diverse linguistic references which help you use your required french word in appropriate context. The best part of this app is that it is FREE :)

Fantastic for russian and english. The only issue is it sometimes crashes, but that may be more a fault from me having an oldiPhone rather than the app.

Amazing App. great application, I improved my English vocabulary thanks to this application I really like the offline mode, I highly recommend this application to all those who want to learn a new language

Great utility, but it freezes often :(. See above

It doesn’t work anymore. I used to love this app, but it doesn’t work like before anymore. It is too slow

I can’t do without it. which is why it is bad that it has some glitches, like freezing and crashing

Can’t download offline. Very nice app but I can’t download the offline German English dictionary

Excellent resource. As a french-canadian, i am fluent in french but sometimes need a quick double-check for spelling or to find the best word for the context in which i wish to use it. Linguee is fantastic. It's not only reliable and portable, but can be used offline and provides contextual examples from the web! This app is a must-have.

Highly practical and realistic tool. Fantastical app to use as a compliment

Why do you need access to my network?. The app asks for access to local network, and does not explain why it needs that. It is an offline dictionary, so there is no obvious reason for this. Had to uninstall it.

c nice. je kiffe en sah mais pas tant divertissant

Doesn’t work anymore :/. Was a great app and it still can be, but it currently does not work at all on my iPhone 11 running iOS14. Please fix it! I’ll even pay a bucks for it!

C’est super!. Il m’a aidé beaucoup à appendre les langues!

Why would you need access to local network?. You can’t do anything with this app unless you give it access to local network. This doesn’t make sense.

Most useful app!. Excellent app!

Excelente para aprendizado. Excelente app para aprendizado. Uso muito. Recomendo.

It very good. It did vre

Wants network access. Loved this app when it worked before. Now it says it can’t work without access to my local network and that’s a hard no.

User since 2016. Best translation app out there. I love that it shows you real text examples of language usage.

Love it!. This app is really helpful. It is so easy to use and beneficial while you are learning french.

Searching…. C’est le français. Easy to type in a word or partial phrase in either language and voilà, a plethora of possibilities. Then simply peruse choices that make sense to your situation

Nice little app that I’ve been using for German. In the morning when I listen to German radio and don’t understand a word, I use this app to figure out what the news is. Only glitch is that it sometimes freezes, but that might just be my old smartphone.

Loading issues. When you enter a word it takes a long time for it to load the translations, and I’m not the only one my entire class has this issue. It’s also not the wifi because it doesn’t work at home either.

Doesn’t work anymore. I used to love this app but now when you enter a word to translate it gets stuck it just spins.

Excellent resource. I frequently need to translate English into French on technical documents. Not only is this a very convenient app for this purpose, but I find it useful to see a variety of options and their source to know which is most appropriate.

Most times doesn’t work. Hard to use. Very disappointed !!

Hcfdvgherh. I like it because it helps me learn French

Rating. Functions well as a dictionary and gives useful examples. Does not provide audio nor exact translation of phrases.

Two thumbs up!. Quick easy and helpful

Especially Useful. Linguee is especially useful with offline dictionaries to be able to translate immediately without wireless.

An indispensable tool for transpators. What did we do before Linguée? I shudder to think. It makes work much easier, and provides concise, real-world examples of alternate terminologies to cover almost any context. No more hammering square-peg terms into round-hole instances! It helps you find just the right term. A real time-saver, and having this useful app as a dedicated resource on a handheld device helps to eliminate disruptive switching on your computer between word-processor and browser, so you can stay in Focus mode.

The best translator I’ve ever met!. We know some words are really hard to translate because their indistinct meanings and contexts, however this app allows me to find the word in the right context I needed to use it. Definitely worth it!

Great app but constantly crashes. Great app with a plethora of translations, but the app constantly needs a reboot when opening it anew after having it closed some time. It ends up crashing every time i need to search a new word.

The best. Es una aplicación indispensable a la hora de mejorar tu aprendizaje de un idioma. Simplemente genial.

Was great, now asks to access other devices. This app in itself is really good, but is now asking to access my other devices and my local network, which is completely unnecessary, hence the single star. Going back to using the web version.

Incredibly useful. I really enjoy this app for quick and current translations of English to French. I have used it daily for years!

Forced LAN access. Just so you know, I deleted the app as soon as I noted that you demand local network access. Ridiculous!

Very nice. It’s very helpful for my French class, no ads ad everything works really well. Nice interface too :)

Clean. Very clean app. I love it.

Un des meilleurs dictionnaires avec le contexte du mot recherché à l’appui!. Le meilleur!

Great app, if only it wouldn’t keep freezing. The beauty of Linguée is the list of source references for each word that gives you some context. This is very helpful when a word has a secondary, figurative meaning. A combination of the various dictionary meanings of a word and usage examples is unbeatable. The only problem is that the app freezes regularly - maybe every half-dozen times it’s accessed. Closing and re-opening the app fixes it, but it is *by far* the worst app on my phone in this regard. Still, it’s worth the trouble.

So much more than a dictionary. Linguee has been an essential resource in my self-directed language learning journey. It provides quotations from a wide variety of websites, which include the searched word in both target and native languages, enabling us to truly grasp the nuances of various uses of the word in multiple contexts, so essential to acquiring fluency.

Crap. Works less than 50% of the time…tells me there is no internet when clearly every other app Works just fine!!…junk!!

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

I couldn’t live without this app. ...but I wish it had more authentic texts as references. Most references are translations themselves and are not authentic and therefore often not helpful . Also, most references for French are Canadian and I love Canadians but a lot of their language is not standard usage for other Francophones. If Linguee had these things, I guess it wouldn’t be free. If it did, I would pay a monthly premium.

Easy to use! Extra content.. I love this app. It is very simple to use. No need to switch English to portuguese and portuguese to English depending on which language I am using. Just enter the word in either selected language and it finds the word. Lots of languages available. I also like that sentences are given as examples along with popular and less popular words. Very helpful. My go to app!

Offline Dictionary Doesn’t Work. I give this amazing app 4 stars only because although I have downloaded the dictionary, it will not work when offline. Instead it tells me to download the dictionary. Another reason for the lack of 5 stars is the inability for me to communicate with developers to ask questions.

Searching. Search bar is not working 90% of the time. I have to keep trying many times and usually, in that case I have to quit the app and reopen it, again and again, to make it respond to show the result of what I'm searching for. I don’t know it’s because of their search engine has bad network connection(I say “their” because when I use other apps, network works perfectly fine) or the front end problem.

Excellent online and offline option. Linguee’s ability to translate both words and phrases in multiple languages, as well as to provide multiple dialectic options and examples from the internet, make it a powerful tool. It is quick and easy to use, and the ability to download dictionaries makes it incredible handy for all kinds of situations. Thanks, Linguee!

Hit or miss. When this app works it’s great. I love the pronunciation feature. However it rarely works. I type in a word and press search and nothing happens. I close the app and restart it and it still doesn’t work. The website functions fine but the app doesn’t. I even downloaded a dictionary to use offline but even that doesn’t work.

The best translation app. If you need an app for English-German translation especially, this is the best app out there. I love it because I can type in a phrase and see if it's something that is used in German which is especially useful for things like idioms! I see that they're working on more languages as well. That would be a dream!!!

Fantastic app. I have never left a review for an app before but I have to give credit to Linguee. This is a wonderful app. The best part is it automatically reads in the text on your clipboard so u don’t have to paste in text that you get from the browser. This is a great time saver for me as I look up words frequently. And you can download the dictionary, very convenient.

Power of Words. This is by far one of the best language learning tools that I have come across. I love how it provides you with several entries (examples) as part of your search results in order to give you the real-world usage of the word or phrase within a variety if contextual situations. It is an amazing and incredibly useful App.

Great app, but must improve performance.. This COULD be the best translation app, but the performance is absolutely horrific. It is my new favorite app for translation, but the fact that it freezes and crashes pretty much 100% of the time, requiring a complete restart, makes it borderline unusable. Fix performance and it will be amazing!

Used in Europe. The best one there is.. I was using Linguee online for awhile as I moved to France, and when I discovered they had an app that could save and use their dictionary while offline, I was ready to drop money. Luckily this app is free, amazingly effective, and the most authentic when it comes to translations, slang, examples, and more. I will never use another cross-language dictionary. This is the one to beat.

Amazing!. Holy cow, what an amazing app! I definitely utilized this app all through college to help me understand words and phrases. It’s amazing how easily it can pull information from online texts to show you EXACTLY how the word is used in context, which is so critical!! I recommend this to anyone whenever I see them pull up google translate 😅

Useful web search feature. The advantage of Linguee over an ordinary dictionary is that it searches the web for examples of real-life translations. This allows you to see how your word or phrase is used in a natural context. It also makes it possible to search for whole phrases that are less likely to appear in the dictionary listing.

Contact developer?-*EDITED*. It’s time for us all to move on. Many people having the same issues of the app just not working *at all,* and the added security issues after the iOS update. The developer must have just fallen asleep? I don’t see any attempts to make changes or to keep users informed. So, bye 👋🏼 I couldn’t find a way to contact the developer, so I’m leaving a review. Previously I would have given the app a 4 (because I translate a lot) but would lose a star for the design and format being less than optimal. The beginning of the word in the search bar cut off. Now it completely doesn’t work. I’ve updated it, deleted then reinstalled. So I hope this 1 star is just a placeholder until these issues are resolved, because until now, I’ve enjoyed and often utilized the app for the most part.

Good app but often freezes. Translations and examples are great and the overall UI works very well. Plus if verb conjugations were included. The biggest drawback of this app is that it constantly freezes or lags when trying to start a new search. Quite frustrating and often requires the app to be quit to work again.

Awesome and easy to use!. I use it for all of my language studies and love it! It gives multiple word choices and examples of how to use each one. It also gives real life examples of the word you searched in actual documents, which can be extremely helpful! It’s super easy to use and has an offline option if you need to take it on the go. I definitely recommend it.

Almost all good. Two stars off for asking for unnecessary permission.. Almost all good but I am taking two stars off since the app doesn’t function when access to local network is not given. This app should not need to connect to other devices in my network… it’s a dictionary app that should just work on the phone. Making the app not function simply because I refused to share the local network is an odd design decision.

Perfect when it works. I have really enjoyed this as a translation/language learning tool as it reliably provides definitions with context. The interface is clean and easy to use. Unfortunately, on the two separate devices I had used it on at a certain point it ceased to work for me. Some sort of bug made it so that I could no longer search for anything. Anyways, a good app!

Great dictionary, problematic app. I love using Linguee to find real-world examples of words and phrases that more formal dictionaries sometimes miss. However, I am deleting the app because it is asking me for access to my local network (local network permissions) without providing an explanation to why this is necessary for a dictionary app. From what I’ve read online, it sounds like the developer is not disclosing the reason why even in user complaints. Seems shady.

Love the related words feature!. I love the layout. Alongside every word searched, in addition to the meaning, the related words and the example sentences for each related word are displayed, this is extremely valuable as a language learner. Ex: French dictionary - The translation for Mirror also displays the word for reflection

Almost all I need. Linguee is fast and great at usage--giving many examples of different contexts/usage for the word. It also offers all the forms of the word, synonyms (with their usage examples), and of course search help via proximate words. The one thing I miss is a bit of insight into the history/origins of the word. Often, Knowing that info is what I need to remember the meaning. Thanks for a very useful tool.

Like WordReference without the ads. As a professional interpreter I often depend on proper dictionaries over a simple translator to compose the best renditions of speech in the appropriate registers. What I love about Linguee is it’s clean interface, providing examples in context in both languages, and the lack of ads. Whenever I need a translation in a pinch, I’ve gradually been gravitating more towards Linguee first over my other dictionary apps.

Very helpful. I am a professional interpreter, and I occasionally use Linguee to double check terms. I like the fact that they’re in context and you can see what country or website they’re from, so I can decide for myself whether the translation seems accurate for my situation. It is also quite user friendly.

Needs improvement. Like most others point out it freezes almost every time for 5 or more seconds. Also the search seems to prioritize longer words. I will put in a few letters and see the word I want but then more results load and the word I want is no longer found. Also lots of common words (in French) are just unavailable. It will show results for the word in the middle of phrases but not the word itself.

A great app for translating + word reference. I would highly recommend this app- it is one of the best language learning tools I’ve come across. They provide helpful examples and a variety of external sources to reference for any word/phrase you look up, as well as audio to demonstrate the proper pronunciation. If you want to make sure you’re grammatically correct, I would recommend this over google translate.

Excellent free multi language dictionary!. I use this app all the time to see how a word or expression is really used, or to see how to say something (you can enter an expression as well as just one word). It displays multiple examples taken from published articles where the word or expression has been used. This is one of the most used language Applications on my phone!

Need bug fix, but AMAZING tool!. Tremendously great resource! I use this app almost daily as an interpreter/translator. It does require fixing when using the app to look up multiple words. Sometimes when going from the source document to the app, it stops working and it takes a moment to reset and start working again.

Still Non-user-friendly. This is absurd, after all these years and versions you couldn’t still figure out how to keep our offline data untouchable when every version is being installed so your users wouldn’t have to download them over and over again. Let aside IT tech gives you the ability to even update both app and its new datas by keeping old ones which are unnecessary to being replaced.

Fantastic language app. I’m not one to often write app reviews, but this app has been beyond helpful in learning Dutch. With really practical examples and a user friendly interface, it pretty much blows other Dutch vocabulary and dictionary apps away. For Dutch, i do notice that some words in Dutch are missing, or have a limited set of translations. But overall, the app is great! Thanks for making this!

Best, easiest translations tool I've used so far.. I am a professional interpreter and translator, and I can tell Linguee is coming up with better in context choices than other translating tools. I teach Fundamental of Translation and Interpretation and, I not only use Linguee everyday, but I recommend it to all my students. It’s very user friendly and I always tell them “you have to see the word in context”. Linguee does that.

You can’t paste in the search. Again, you can’t paste in the search. Also, you can’t multitask on iPad (two windows open next to each other ) most apps can, why is it prevented here? Fix this, please.. When I see developers do these kinds of things, I really don’t understand. It’s arbitrary, it’s a lack of being able to do it. It’s an act of choice, do not make apps which are useful work for everyone… And on purpose. Really tired of this, stop it. Fix this.

Best translator in the market. I use Linguee to translate the languages I speak. First, it gives translation in context, which is amazing. Second, it gives various options. Lastly, it often gives me better translation choices than I, as a native speaker, come up with. As explained elsewhere Linguee is more of a “translation memory”, based on how words have been translated in context in the past. It does not have as many languages as other apps, but I imagine it is because they take a depth rather than a breadth (and shallow) approach. It does cover all the major languages. Hands down, Linguee and its sister app DeepL are the best translators currently in the market. Stay ahead of the curve Linguee/DeepL!

Linguee is a very useful tool. As a translator, I feel very grateful for the amazing work done with this application. It saves time and effort; but what is more important, translations are rendered with higher quality. I’m looking forward to start using CAT tools in tandem with DeepL. Thank you for your service and generosity. May God have mercy of your lives. Warm greetings from Cuba! Alaín J. Torres Hernández November 14, 2020.

Perfect for Refining Language Skill. This app was recommended when I was in the advanced immersion course at l’Institute de Francais in Villefranche-sur-Mer at the end of 2019. It is far superior to regular dictionaries and translation apps, providing everything they do but providing multiple examples of words and phrases (in both languages) in context — which helps develop a nuanced understanding of words and phrases.

Great dictionary, but always crashes. This is one of the best EN-ES dictionaries that I leverage almost daily, but the app either freezes indefinitely or crashes every 2-3 uses. It also has major issues identifying whether it is connected to the internet and accessing the offline dictionaries. If this can be fixed, it would be a 5-star app. Please fix it - this is a valuable resource!

Best dictionary for learning another language. I’m learning Italian and I want an easy to use dictionary. Linguee is perfect! I can quickly look up an Italian word and it provides passages in both English and Italian with that word. This is so helpful to see usage in different contexts. I am so glad I found Linguee!

Local Network Permission?. This translation app won’t work on my iOS device unless I give it permission to access my local network devices. Seriously? No way! Result: the app was immediately uninstalled. There is absolutely no reason why a language app with the necessary dictionaries downloaded and an available Internet connection needs access to my network devices! The company’s opaque justification for requiring this permission mentions needing to access integrated servers (whatever that means). I hope the developer rethinks this requirement, but won’t hold my breath: The security concerns of a few mobile users probably aren’t considered much of a priority. This is really too bad: this AI translator is perhaps the best I’ve used (I’m an intermediate French student translating fiction and nonfiction). I’ll continue to use Linguee on the web.

Application doesn’t work probably. Hi, I usually use Linguee for finding the meaning of germany words. It’s about 2 months that when I type a word, the application does nothing and the page of the result is blank. I activated the option to use internet and downloaded de-en dictionary, but it’s still out of service. Would you please help me?

Studied Japanese for 4 years, learning Spanish. The app is clearly European based or at least geared towards it. Kanji is correct (writing), but the most common hiragana (pronunciation) usage is not usually the first one given and under “less common”. This is only a problem for kanji based languages due to the nature of it. I trust it and would recommend for most of the languages, but not Japanese. Imiwa? Is great if you want to learn Japanese.

Excellent usability and accuracy. I have only used the Fr-Eng dictionary. It has a wide enough breadth of vocabulary to translate most literature. Helpfully, it also provides suggestions for misspelled words. It recognizes verbs in their different tenses, which is great. My wish for this app is an added audio for the words, but for now I’m content to switch to google translate for that. I anxiously await the Fr-Sp dictionary!

So much better than the others. Linguee offers contextualized translations, even really complex and specialized one. Really helpful for a nuanced translation. Its companion machine translator app DeepL is also so much more sophisticated than those from the big Silicon Valley tech companies. Makes sense that a company from multilingual Europe has the lead here…

Two problems. Everything is good but there’s just one problem. I have downloaded the German to English dictionary twice but it just gets removed again and i don’t understand why! I think it would be better if a saving notbook be added to the app so the users could save the new words they learn.

Excellent App. I use Linguee all the time for studying German and French. I’ve downloaded the German and French dictionaries in order to have access even when I don’t have internet access. The user interface is very intuitive. One of the most useful features is the “history” feature. I can easily go back and see all the words I have searched, which is very helpful for review.

My go to dictionary. Can’t imagine the paid version, if there is one, to work better. No advertisement distractions, no interruptions. But it does ask for complete access to our networks, so I wonder which privacy issues, if any, are being violated. Nothing this good can be truly free.

Clean. Efficient. Utilitarian.. Love the interface. Shows definitions without having to enter. Gives multiple definitions with example sentences instead of one word definitions. Has many suggestions to small verbal expressions. You can download an off-line version of the language you want to refer to. It’s my go to foreign language dictionary.

Great App/ Dictionary; Annoying bug iPhone w/o Home Button. As many have already pointed out Linguee is a great dictionary. I love it. However, I encountered an annoying bug on my iPhone 12. Whenever I click on the search bar the keyboard won’t come up but instead half the screen is highlighted like after long pressing on something. There’s no way of entering anything. The only way to fix this is to tab on the history/ last searched word icon on the bottom left and then go back and then click on the search bar

The best offline language dictionary. This is the best offline multilingual I have used. I have no idea why this isn’t the first result in the App Store when I search for a multilingual dictionary, instead I’m shown apps that are littered with ads, but this one is the exception. It is the best one I have ever used. Your DeepL translator is also really good. Best regards.

An amazing app that freezes all the time on iPhone. This app’s features can’t be beat, but it freezes all the time when I open it, which is very annoying when trying to quickly look up words. I’ve uninstalled and redownloaded the app numerous times but the problem persists. It’s so much better than any other translator app that I still uses, but the constant freezing merits the 2 star rating.

Great interpreter’s tool. Best phone app and desktop program that I could find for increasing my vocabulary as an interpreter. I absolutely love the numerous examples. On the negative side, I wish I could find a way to increase font size or zoom in when I’m having trouble reading the words or examples. There’s probably a way. I just am a bit technologically challenged.

Best Dictionary, App Needs Work. This is by far my favorite language dictionary. The website is the best and I use it every day/ The app is another story. As many others have said the app is really unstable. It freezes up when you try to delete or clear the search field and it crashes pretty consistently. They’re so close to it being great, I wish they'd release an update to make it more stable.
