Absolutely worth the money!. The Minnesota range dot maps alone are worth the price! Well organized and very intuitive to use.

Best app for beginning botanists. This app has been a lifesaver.

Amazing and rich resource that could use some QOL upgrades. I use this app daily, but could improve in a few regards: -A “favorites” button would be great -Clickable family/genus to follow back up the taxonomy would be great -in the advanced search, closing the selection “flower color” for example, after selecting it.

Wonderful resource! One suggestion…. Love this app! It’s so essential as I’m working hard to transform my landscape to locally native plants. The information is both robust and easy to digest. One wish list item to make this app perfection - if there was a way to “save” specific plants to a list of some sort that the user could refer back to, like an Amazon shopping cart, that would be HEAVEN!

Unique and very helpful app!. There are no other apps out there like this one, on this subject and with these features. I love using the multi-access key to quickly and easily locate different plants and learn so much about variations of species during the process. The photographs are beautiful. The app works seamlessly, transitioning between the pages and the unique comparison view setting is perfect for more in depth identification. Would recommend to anyone who is already knowledgeable about plants or simply anyone who is looking to learn from the huge amount of info that's stored in this app.

Great for a starting botanist!. I've yet to run into a plant I can't get to genus with a photo or two.

Handy guide for the field. The MWI app is a handy guide for wildflowers when you are out in the field, especially when you don’t have access to the internet. A whole lot lighter weight than a book.

Thankful for this information. Like so many, I have been deeply moved by the inspirational call to action expressed in Douglas Tallamy’s books. This app and website have served as a treasure trove of information in my journey to learn about MN’s native plants for my own personal growth as well as for landscaping purposes. So much love and hard work has been invested in this tool. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

Almost as good as the web site. The web site has a “Have you seen this plant in Minnesota” section that I miss on the app, but that’s minor. With the help of this app, we identified a large number of plants growing in our woods—including some invasives, which we’re now working to eradicate. I’d like to see a plant identifier added to this app. That would make it perfect!

Minnesota Wildflowers review. I use Minnesota Wildflowers often in my work, identifying native plant communities for ecological land classification. It’s a generally reliable resource.

I love the app, but a save or favorite feature would be nice!. I absolutely love the app, it’s worth every penny. I love all of the search features. The only thing I would add is a feature that allows you to save species pages for later reference.

Best wildflower app for Minnesota. The new app incorporates the best of their wonderful website. It has beautiful photos and accurate descriptions and information. As one who is just learning about plants, I have always relied on their website, but now it is good to have it all one touch away and not need web access, which is often lacking in the north woods. It loads quickly and is easy to use.

Great Resource. This is my #1 resource when it comes to Plant ID. I just wish the app had all of the plants that are included on their website.

Fast, amazing-best app ever. As an avid user of iNaturalist, I found myself going to the Minnesota wildflower website often. That information is amazingly all on this app, which works lightning fast. No more waiting for a page to load to get the awesome tips and tricks for a solid id. Bonus is the thorough discussions of sub species. Hats off to the creators of the website and app

Love this app. I use it all the time. Well organized. Can use it in the garden as well as in the field -away from WiFi or cell data. ONLY complaint is that it must be updated to make use of Dark Mode. The text is too pale to see on the info pages when my phone switches to dark mode. Please Fix! UPDATE: quick response from developer! Well done. I will see how it looks tonight when dark mode kicks on.

Amazing. Love this app-work in a public garden and reference this and the website often. The only thing I wish it had was a way to favorite plants so I have a custom list to reference.

Essential app for native MN flora enthusiasts. This is an incredible app! The depth of the descriptions of the plants covered is awesome. The pictures are great as well. Must have app.

Highly recommend. Such a helpful and user friendly resource! We use it for identifying prairie flowers for our pollinator research projects throughout the state.

One of the best apps I’ve purchased!. This is a great app for anyone who loves to learn about the local Minnesota plant life that surrounds them. I absolutely love it. The app has grown my interest and knowledge of local Forbes and grasses. There are great photos and excellent descriptions of many species. I pair this with my iNaturalist app and it really is a great help!!!

National maps please. This app is excellent for identifying midwestern plants (including trees!). It includes nearly all the information you might need: is it native? Invasive? Common names? And helpful hints for identification and comparison. My only complaint is the app doesn’t show national distribution maps, which are on the website. Those of us in Minnesota-adjacent states (I’m in northern Michigan) would truly appreciate seeing those.

Excellent App. A great resource. Clear technical descriptions in accessible format, good level of local detail. Use it in conjunction with a photo identifier app, such iNaturalist or Picture This, and you will have all you need in the field.

Wonderful resource for native plant lovers!. I love this site, including all the descriptions/pictures that help you identify both native plants as well as my “arch enemy” invasive species. Katy Chaya comments help with plant ID, and Peter Dziuk’s pictures are exceptional. My husband and I have 2 large native plantings (St Cloud home and Deer Lake cabin), and thus, resource is invaluable for us as we add new plants, and fight off crown vetch, buckthorn, canary reed, etc. keep up the excellent work!

A Botanist’s Dream. I love this app for giving me quick access to great photos when trying to make an ID in the field. It’s especially useful for off-season features like buds, which don’t figure prominently in most guides or keys.

helpful tool in the field.
