Most useful app. After reading once, I thought I've done with it. So far it is most useful app for boat and rope tie. I've been keep coming back to this app for rope knotting and die other references. Thank you.

Tons of info!. This app contains tons of information for both the beginning and experienced boater. Handy checklists that can be printed or emailed ensure you're always prepared for your voyages and that you don't forget any important steps.

A Pocket Classroom. Looks basic until you hit the menu button! Excellent reference work! A must have for the serious cruiser.

Great App - wealth of knowledge. This is a wonderful app. Has a great depth of knowledge. I'm not sure if this is an abridged version of the hard copy book version, but this has great tables and the various in-app calculators are great. Information is accurate and well organized. Well worth the money.

Outstanding reference guide!. I’ve had this little book for about 15 years now, and while it may have been updated to reflect current technology, the basics will pretty much always be there. I’ve done a fair bit of offshore sailing and (you may think this weird), I read various sections of the book regularly as a way to pass time. E.g, the section on clouds - I can never remember the names of the various clouds - we’ll, there they are! I can’t speak highly enough or this reference. Thanks to the author!! I just bought this on-line version for my iPhone. There it is on the screen now. Also, if you’ve never seen or bought Grog’s knots - do so. Fabulously easy to fathom how to tie knots. Well done!

Great App. This has an incredible amount of information that any boater whether beginner or advanced. Definitely worth the cost of the app!

Outstanding. I purchased this as a backup "go to" in case I didn't have Chapman's etc available- however I find myself using this primarily now and it's much more expansive and thorough than I had initially thought. Kudos-- excellent app. Well worth it!

Great! Boating a lifetime. We can't carry Chapman's around so this is near perfect. Docking procedures are finally in my wife & kids brains due to great graphics! It is also good for boat newbies- guests who want to learn what I need them to do from docking to anchor procedures. Love it ..highly recommended for all boaters!

Great reference. I have own two boats and I have been boating for some time, and I find myself returning to read this book quite often. It is an excellent source of basic seamanship. Every recreational skipper should have this book as a reference. Very useful.

Real knowledge!. I've been boating for years but am stepping up to a 44' and coastal operation, this gives me the knowledge to be confident in my actions and boat handling as well as the actions of others around me!

Excellent Reference. This app is a great reference for anyone who enjoys boating. Well written and good illustrations. Calculators for many boating calculations are a good addition to this reference.

Sailing. Wonderful reference even though it's not meant for sailing specifically. Already used it for explaining some sailing fundamentals.

FIVE STARS. This is bar-none the best informational boating app on the market...period!!! Written for both the beginner or an expert, this book is perfectly laid out to access any bit of information you may want/need to know about boats.

Great reference app. This reference is very good for non boaters and novices looking for broad high-level coverage of power and sail boating terminology and concepts. Lack of navigation, search, bookmark and output prevented fifth star.

Very informative. As a novice boater, this reference guide is very useful. I learned a lot and will bring this app along with me on my next boat trip. Very much recommended and worth the cost.

This is the holy grail of boat APPS!. I have to say that it is a valuable tool and resource and not just a nice concept app. This is a powerful recourse and a joy to have...

Lacks substance. A waste of money. The focus of the app is to present tons of choices, but the information displayed is lacking in contend and detail. There are a lot of other marine apps that are free or less expensive and much better. Some of the functions are found in other apps that are free. The apps best feature is the description in Itunes. I will doubt that I will ever use the app.

Awesome app. It's my go to quick reference, but I also recommend everyone new to boating, or needs to up their skills, read this cover to cover. Very informative and well written.

Oceans of information. One of, if not the best apps I've purchased. If you are a boater, no matter your skill level or vessel type , you will find a 'ship load' of useful information in this app.

Great Boating Info. This is really a great informational app. Any thing you need to know or brush up on is in this electronic book. I've been boating for over 25 years and I'm steal finding out good info from this app.

No brainer. The hard copy is aboard my boat and has tons of info. I have Bowditch aboard as well, but go to BPR first every time. The iPhone app is seamless. Much easier to look things up and search. Hard copy was $15, $5 for the app is more than fair. I highly recommend either the app, hard copy, or both. If you get just one, get the hard copy, if you're a sailor you know why. A+.

One of the top 5 marine apps. Incredible amount of useful information presented in a well organized fashion. Lots of tables and diagrams illustrate many of the sections and the text is easily understood, clear and concise. A very thorough and practical reference book done in a helpful and utilitarian manner.

Wow!. I was in the Navy, and have boated for 50 years, sail and power. This collection of essential boating knowledge and tips is an awesome addition to your mobile device. Amazing wealth of useful info. Must have if you are a boater!

Almost Perfect. Having a 1600 ton master lic. This is a great app for looking up things not used on a daily basis. The one thing that would be nice is if the Rules of the Road were in order instead of jumping all over the place.

Boater's Pocket Reference. I am a full time boating instructor, licensed captain and a boating accident investigator. I have used and recommended the hard copy of this book for some time. I have used this app. both in the classroom and out on the water. I now can leave the book in my navigation kit with my plotting tools. If you don't get the app. at least buy the book.

Don’t Waste Your Money!. Just bought this and within minutes realized I wasted my money. Found incorrect and incomplete info. Very hard to work. Referenced illustration that wasn’t there. Been sailing for almost 50 years and spent 30 years Active Duty Navy. Retired USN Captain.

A Treasure Chest of Information. One of the best buys in a marine application that I have come across. I have yet to find each individual jewel of reference information, however, I will say that it is packed with good information and well worth the price. Plus it really does fit in a pocket and will not mildew. This is an excellent addition to my boat library.

New to Boating. I took a boat safety coarse and like most things learned they are lost when not applied. I used this app to give me some refresher. It helps point out the areas you need to practice and learn before they become habit. The layout is well thought out and easy to use. Job well done and well worth the money!

Great reference manual. I am a new boater and this is great for references and how-to's. It is filled with a great amount of information that can help me from making costly mistakes.

A Must Have!. I must have purchased over a hundred apps over the years. This is the first time I felt it necessary to follow up and post a positive review. So much content that covers Canada and USA. It's loaded with information and a great reference. It's a hidden gem! Thanks for putting all this great information together.

Excellent reference for recreational sailors and boaters. Knowledge gets a boat safely along its passage from departure to destination. After a lifetime in recreational power and sail boating, I've come to respect the importance of two phrases I learned as a young man. A Coast Guard bosun on our Great Lakes icebreaker used to say, "you can't never know enough about the sea". A crewman on a Pacific fishing trawler told me one day during a galley break that his Newfoundland grandfather used to say, "you don't takes what you wants from the sea, you sneaks up on it and wiggles it away". As the dedicated author says, this is only a brief introduction to the world of maritime knowledge, and a brief reminder for those who have taken proper courses, but it is a handy and very complete reference that found a place on my iPad very quickly. It is well-written in plain language, adheres to sound principles, and amazingly complete. Hundreds of pages cover dozens of topics. The navigation section is very thoughtfully written. I plan to right the author with only a few suggestions. There are dozens of handy calculators. Although very US-centric with a slight nod to Canada, the basic principles in this book apply to boating and sailing worldwide. There is a lot of information on marine maintenance, so it's all here including the galley sink. Some of the information on computer navigation is already a little dated, but the principles in that section are still valid. The book's wealth of knowledge is easy to navigate using clever lists and use of the device's memory. I have never rated an app 5 stars, but was tempted to do so here. I held off because ideally a staff could be dedicated, if resources allowed, to keeping technical details completely current, and because of the North American focus.

Must have for boaters. Amazing detail, wealth of useful information. EVerything you need to know from anchoring to fixing electricl systems. As a new boat owner this app has been an amazing value. Get this and the "Marine: [your location]" app for navigation

Great reference source. Keep it handy! Index allows you to quickly find the information you need. Great to refresh the memory ie. getting off a dock when pinned by the wind. Well written in easy to understand sections.

Brilliant app. This is a vastly comprehensive reference source of the various areas of nautical knowledge. The physical book is always close at hand in the pilot house of my boat. And now to have it all in my pocket on my iPhone is a leap forward in convenience. The calculators integrated in the text make it even more useful than the printed book. Indexing and bookmarking are well executed and helpful for retrieving information you need from the abundant material in this app. Applause for the developer.
