Bebot - Robot Synth App Description & Overview

What is bebot - robot synth app? Bebot is a musical instrument that anyone can play. Instead of a keyboard, it has an easy-to-use touch control system. And it's all built into a friendly animated robot, who performs your music while you play.

Although it looks simple on the outside, inside is a powerful synth engine which lets you create and edit your own sounds and apply effects. The controls are easy to use, making it fun to tinker and experiment with sound. If you just want to get playing, there's also a wide selection of preset sounds.

The touch control system lets you lock in a scale so that you'll never play a wrong note, which makes it easy to play, even on your iPhone. It's polyphonic, which means you can use multiple fingers at once to play chords and harmonies. Plus, you can perform sweeping slides and expressive gestures that would be practically impossible on a regular keyboard.

While it's designed to be simple and fun, that doesn't mean it's only for beginners. Bebot has been used both on stage and in the studio by accomplished musicians and performers including Dream Theater, How To Destroy Angels and The Flaming Lips.

To see and hear Bebot in action, check out the demo videos at normalware.com, including a walkthrough demo by keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess.

Now with Audiobus and Inter-App Audio, you can connect Bebot to other apps such as GarageBand to record, multitrack and add effects, making Bebot more versatile and useful than ever. For more information about Audiobus, visit http://audiob.us/

One of the best...if not thee best. I have loved synth music since 1967. The synth apps are my thing. I can't play a real keyboard so these apps are great for a user. I have over 100 synth/theremin/studio style apps ranging from free to 9.99. Keyboard, XY pad, and movement generated. Now I can't speak for real musicians but I will tell you that after Bebot you will not find one as good and simple, yet quite extensive (powerful) as this. It's simple to me and was from the beginning. It's cute but that is not my thing. I have AFX, Sunrizer, MorphWiz, Xenon, Reactable, DMI, Jungeline, IKaosillator, AirVox, Animoog, Yumi, Jasuto, ToroCore, Seline, Aardvark and on and on. These are all great items but I still have the best time with Bebot. And for an iPhone the XY pad is the easiest to handle in my mind. Remember I am not into serious playing. It's all for fun and sound. The others start looking the same after a while also. After two years...Bebot is still a ten. Then AFX and MorphWiz.

Most FUN app out there ... I think!. Listen I’ve had this app for five years if that’s possible and it never gets old. I never have any glitches whatsoever and I’m sure if I had some experience on a piano-I do on my Organ, eh thank you very much! Seriously a person that already has keyboard experience will really dig this.

Just a great app. I don't write reviews. I just don't have the time. I normally just shop with my dollars. If a product or service is no good I won't buy it again. If it's a one-off purchase like this where I can rate it I might give it good or a bad review if it's a stand-out product one way or the other. But this app found a special place in my heart. I'm a web designer / developer with a 2yr old son. He suddenly developed a love for all things robot so I searched iTunes apps for the word robot and downloaded half-a-dozen of them, including this one, without really knowing anything about them. Tried them all and this one blew me away. First off, I just never would have conceptualized the interface. I can imagine a variety of designs for a synth app, but none of them would be within a mile of this apps design and functionality. It's so drop dead simple and inviting. And my 2yr old *loves* it. He can make music effortlessly. He can watch the robot move and output his music. He can play with the settings (possibly his favorite part, BTW). All-in-all I think this app fairly deserves a five star rating. Kudos to Normalware. Caveat: I don't know anything about synthesizers (or music in general). I can't speak technically to the sound it produces. Non-technically, the syntharp is my favorite preset. If you download the app, I recommend trying all of the presets out.

Kids love him!. I always open this app when little kids want to play with my phone, and they always love it.

One of the best apps ever made. ...

We love Bebot!. I really love this app. Really. REALLY. Unlike other non-game apps that have a lot of flash at first but a short use-life over all, I visit this one almost every day. Bebot has become a virtual puppet that my four-year-old and I play with All The Time. It's fairly easy after a little experimentation to make noises that mimic speech (our favorites are What??? Eww! and Uh-oh!) but with Bebot performing every sound, too, it really looks like he's talking to us. He has such personality! When he's "bored" I pick out a really funny version of Darth Vader's theme, and when my son tells him a joke, I can make Bebot sound like he's laughing. (Yes, they even tell knock-knock jokes to each other, but of course we have no idea what Bebot's punchlines are.) Bebot is easily the best app I own.

MIDI please. I love this app. I’d buy it again or pay for a pro version that had midi.

I love Bebot. The only thing holding back the fifth star is that I tried the settings and completely screwed it up. When I restated my iPad Pro 9.7 it went back to factory thank god. I need to watch the videos at normal ware I suppose.

Amazingly powerful instrument. Like most people, I couldn't imagine this app would live up to the hype. And when I first downloaded it, I was slightly underwhelmed... UNTIL I found all the settings. You can adjust all the qualities of the sound, set the scales, zoom in as close as one octave (so that just one octave is visible on screen, making it easier to play precisely), and most importantly, you can autotune so that the instrument slides up to the exact note (quickly or slowly). The multitouch interface allows you to play up to four notes at once, and I have already been able to simulate several instruments pretty realistically, from theramin (of course) to electric guitar to bagpipes!! In short, this is an INCREDIBLY powerful app that can astound you if you take the time to learn how to take advantage of all its features. An absolute steal at $1.99; this thing is worth ten times that.

The best. Fun and legit playable adjustable Parameters are endless in their possibilities

9 years later, still the best app I’ve ever bought!. This was one of the first apps I purchased way back in 2012 when I got my first iPhone. It quickly became my favorite app and still is one that I use often. Definitely the most return for my money, the best $2 spent ever. If you like making weird noises with synthesizers Bebot is an amazing amount of fun! Hooking your phone up to your stereo is highly recommended, it’s a blast. Your cats may not love it though. If you have any nieces or nephews they will also enjoy using this app a ton and you will become their favorite aunt or uncle automatically. I think Bebot was one of the first words I heard my nephew say. Thank you to the developer making this and for keeping it updated all this time, which is really amazing. I’ve had some really great times with this app and I wanted to thank you for that.

clutch lil synth. The design and usability of this app are great — you can use it to play over other audio that's going on the phone or tablet. The robot and background are really well drawn and def bring a smile. Big ups for updating for iOS 11+, and not just removing it from the app store. Good one all round

Love ya Bebot!. Thanks for still updating, you are the best.

an infinity of magical moments over a decade. this app fills the soul. I remember bothering people on the line in the bank in 2012.

i love bebot. i downloaded this app on my first ever ipod touch, probably back 2009 or 2010, and it's transferred onto my devices ever since. Though I don't use it very often, it is the one app that I feel I must have on my phone because BEBOT IS LIKE A FRIEND TO ME. Whenever I have an exceptionally bad day and I remember ol' bebot he always cheers me up. As a musician I am always impressed at the functionality, quality and variety that this app has to offer. The UI is awesome... the only logical progression from here in my mind is an in-app DAW where you can more carefully craft bebot songs, as opposed to the looper which is obviously limited. Thank you for this little guy!!! I hope he continues to live on and evolve (ever so slightly) throughout the years.

A classic that keeps on giving. So much fun no matter your age. Bwaaaaaaaaaabeooooop. Boop.

The best synth app for iPhone. I love this app and hope it continues to get support. Normalware folks, if you release an updated version and want to charge for it, I’ll definitely buy Bebot again. Thank you for over a decade of making this wonderful little synth. I let my nephews play with it, the neighrbood cats, everybody loves it!

Never gets old. It’s been about a decade that I’ve been playing with this app and it still is so much fun!!

What a voice!. This is just such a gem. It is polyphonic. For each touch, another voice shows up and follows your fingertips. Feed this into a reverb unit and you have a phenomenal droner.

Still fun… and useful!. I still love this app, it is a great implementation of how to use a touch device for music. What I can’t understand is why there is no PRO version! ThumbJam is similar and much more powerful, but there is just something about the straight forward interface of BeBot that makes it super playable. I have even used it in live performances with great success. Here is to hoping for an update with additional features someday. 😀

This app + Effects in AUM=a really great time. I’ve spend hours playing this app, not for the sake of recording, but just because it’s so fun to play.

How I wish.... that this has MIDI and worked as an audio unit! So many synth apps, yet none sound so good for such a humble set of parameters as BeBot! Please dev keep this alive and bring it another step forward in usefulness!!

Still Makes Me Smile. Installed this app when it first was released many years ago. I still use and enjoy this app often (2021). Makes me and my son smile every time we use the app. Long Live Bebot!!

Amazing quality. Sounds so good and such a joy to play. Might be the most fun touch synth out there. Also very flexible and easy to design new sounds. A must have.

Amazing.. Another reviewer mentioned how this is the best two dollars they ever spent on an app, and I completely agree!! I have always put bebot on each new phone through the years and I still mess around with the chiptune preset almost weekly. I hope it never goes away and I’ve even made a few songs with it.

Incredible! More looping functionality?. I absolutely love this app. It has honestly brought me so much joy since I’ve downloaded it, and I’ve used it in both casual and more “serious” musical contexts. One thing that I think would be amazing is updating the functionality of the looping on the app; being able to control exactly how long loops are, perhaps adding a click track, making much longer loops, and other functions would bring this to the next level for me. Thank you for making such an amazing product though.

SUPER FUN!!. I bought this app and after about 10 minutes i had to write a review. So easy and fun to use. I know i will have fun messing around with this app for a long time. I had just bought another synthesizer app a few hours earlier and i turned it off after about 2 minutes. Bebot is just way way better. I am not even going to waste my time looking for another synthesizer app after playing with Bebot. It is super cool. I kept coming across it in the itunes store and glad i finally bought it. Too bad i bought the other boring synthesizer before getting this one.I think most people that get this app will have fun with it. You will have to be super picky or a grump to not like this app.

So cute hours of enjoyment. I love bebot. He is like family. Cool addition in the future would be a sequencer (id even pay if it was an in-app purchase)! iPhone needs more pick up and play synths like this!!!

Serious instrument potential here.. Just finished playing two theremin classics on Bebot: The Swan and Vocalise. With some practice, this becomes a responsive instument, capable of deep expression and surprising musicality! I own two theremins, and playing that instrument is in a class by itself. But after one day of playing with Bebot, I was wide-eyed at how expressive it is. For you theremin fans out there, I'm just using the sine wave with a wee bit of echo. I have the zoom set so that I can roll my finger to slide between notes up to about a major third. Articulation beyond the on-off of the instrument is accomplished by moving the finger down and up, to close down and open the filter (?), providing softer attacks, decays and transitions. Works well for legato passages. This is a captivating app with real potential. One suggestion might be that rocking the instrument forward and back could control volume subtly. To the developers: thank you for a real bargain, and please don't underestimate what you've created here!

Get this. Even if nothing changes in this app but compatibility patches, this will always be a must have for iOS. Always and forever.

Bebot is an amazing and serious music app that happens to be fun, too.. I love this thing. There are more powerful synthesizers for the iPhone, but none are as immediately accessible as Bebot. The quality of the sound is astonishing. It allows a great deal of tactile control, more so than other apps. I have tried a few of the Theremin-type apps, and this one beats them all even though it does much more. I have recorded with it already, and will do more. One thing that isn't stressed is that some of the available instruments on here are polyphonic. Most synth apps don't have that capability, even the ones that should (I know, I know, monophonic synths have their place, but sometimes that's a copout). You can't go wrong with this sucker for only $2.

Best. Still the best. The sub octave oscillator is awesome. BUT, bebot had headroom problems before and it's worse now with the sub octave thrown in there. The app needs more headroom/a bit less limiting to keep it undistorted when playing with the cutoff. If it were just a bit cleaner it would be perfect. Still my favorite instrument on the iPhone, I've used it on so many records it's ridiculous. Old: If I had 1 music app, this would be it. With the saving and efx, it is truly amazing and useable on stage or in the studio. Only suggestion would be to make the compression/limiting a little less radical. The sound of bebot gets fatiguing after a little while, especially when trying to record with it. I blame the limiting, as otherwise the sound is great.

Still Bebotin’. I can’t believe this quirky little synth still runs great on my latest phone. Warms my heart. Still sounds great, and it just a blast to play with.

Such a great little thing. This not only can be used to create music, it can be used for fun! The little smile on the robots face is amazing! Keep it up!

Over charged me. I got charged $2.11. Annoying.

Why complaining?. It’s just an app for passing the time. My 7yo daughter and I enjoy it immensely. We don’t play anything as one would play a piano. It’s for having a good time. For just making nonsense yet at the same time it’s very soothing. Sometimes, when I’m just by myself I might pull it out and play with it. I guess the app has been around since 2010, maybe ‘11. I’m glad it still is. It deserves its own place as something unique and not cheesy. I hope it never goes out of date. Best regards to the dev and for the rest of the people, download it.

Just buy it! Best App Ever!. Update #2 - I still completely love this app. Had it for, literally, years... And it's as great (and unmatched) since the day I purchased it. -------- Theres nothing I can say that hasn't already been said in these reviews. It's just great. Amazing. Worth FAR MORE than the $1.99. At first, my wife and I both bought it and subsequently spent a half an hour making "robot music". Fun fun fun. It just doesn't get old... THEN, I double-tap the bottom right part of the screen and found multiple synth options, scale settings, snap options, qty is notes, etc... This isn't a toy at all, as it turns out. It's, by far, the most versatile and useful synth app so far (and I've got both a phone and iPad FULL of them). This is the one to buy. Legitimately perfect.

Awesome Sound FX and Fun Too. This app was a purchase because I wanted to get a Theramin sound sythesizer but this turned out to be way more fun than just that. The Bebot character is perfect, he moves and lipsyncs to the beeps and tones so perfectly. Its always fun to watch. This has some really cool blip and beep sounds several different types of Presets (Theramin, Bebot, Beltin, Syntharp, etc),The settings are revealed by a double tap button in the corner so you dont accidentally trip them and it gives plenty of room to play. I am not a musician or beep magician but I can tell that this has a whole lot of range to support someone with the skills. I can't wait to see what other cool apps this developer makes in the future.

Bebot Synth. I have been using this app since my Ipod touch 4th gen about 10 yrs. ago and now my iphone 12 mini.

Sold. This little guy is a straight up savage and believes in no-one. He will deceive you and make you doubt him.. He will sing his soul...Ever-Lasting fountain. Effects,Strumming and tweaking synths! It's doing music with a twisted twist.

Brilliant app. I love this app beyond all reason. It is quirky, pretty, flexible, powerful, and fun. I bought it years ago when it came out. I have just enough musical talent to appreciate the power of this thing. But I only fool around with it for a few minutes at a time. And it brings me joy.

Bebot isn’t iPhone X friendly :(. One of my favorite apps of all time but it doesn’t play well with the gesture-based all-screen iPhone X-models. I’d even pay again for a new Bebot that does work correctly, if that helps the developer.

Still awesome. Just download it again after like 10 years and it still cracks me up

Very cool software musical instrument!. This app is a fantastic musical instrument implemented in software! You have a choice of synth waves and effects. You can zoom and scroll the fingerboard. You can also remove notes you don't need. When you find a configuration you like, you can save it for later. It can snap the pitch to the closest available note or give you complete freedom. You can also use Slow or Fast auto-tuning which allows you to add your own vibrato, but it then it slides to the closest available note automatically. There are controls available to move up or down an octave. These controls can be hidden if you wish. The latency between touch input and sound output is not noticable. It doesn't have the prettiest UI, but it's stable and surprisingly powerful! I have not found a bug yet.

Incredible App - Just 1 Request.... This app is something I randomly purchased back when I had the iPhone 4S, and amazingly, it was not abandonware, like so many other musical apps of the past. It went from simply a fun novelty, capable of keeping my 2yo daughter amused, all the way to a refined set of parameters that could be tweaked to make some super dope sounds and run inside of AudioBus 3 for using to make real music! What’s not to love? The only thing I would like to special request is a set of tweakable modulations and adjustable filter (for the brighter sounds) to go with the sounds and effects. Maybe an envelope for modulating the amplitude of Bebot’s vocals, a full controllable or even slightly limited (I don’t want to be greedy) LFO, and a simple resonant LP, HP, BP filter like what you find on the Behringer Neutron or something like that. That would make this absolutely top notch in the all time hall of fame apps, as far as I am concerned. Even if you do none of these things, it is still an incredible app, and I just want to sincerely say thanks! -Stephen

Screen Mirroring Problem. The new version appears only in the left half of the screen when connected to an external display.

Cute toy, or powerful synth?. Anyone who purchases this app should be very happy. It can serve as a cute little toy to make silly noises, or a great new musical instrument. For those of you who think it's just a couple beeps and bops, go check out Jordan Rudess using it. He does a Bebot solo in the Dream Theater song "A Rite of Passage." The app is only $1.99, i seriously recommend it to musicians and non-musicians alike. I'm a guitar player and i can manage to get some decent solos out of it, so you know it can't be that hard to use haha. For fast Bebot solos, i recommend putting only one octave on the screen, it's very hard to be accurate due to the iphone's small screen. If you are lucky enough to be able to afford an ipad though, feel free to put 3 or 4 octaves up at once and you might also be interested in morphwiz which is a similar app designed by Jordan himself. This app introduced me to a whole new way of making music. With the recording mic i have, I am able to connect my ipod to my computer through it and use Bebot to do some fun solos so it is possible to use it seriously and record. Of course, kids will also love it(even though the noises coming from them might be very annoying, it's a good way to keep them occupied and out of trouble). Once again, I highly recommend this app, you will not be sorry you bought it! It's worth every one of those 5 stars.

Still updating!. Wow. Bebot has always been one of my favorite apps. He was such a quirky, lovable little guy years ago when I met him, and he hasn’t lost any of his charm today. With this compatibility update, it’s lookin’ like he’ll be with us for years to come! Thanks, Normalware!

Please update!. I adore this app and it was one of the first iOS audio apps I bought back in 2010. It never crashes and never gives me any issues which is amazing considering there hasn’t been an update in six years. I wish you guys would add an in app purchase with the ability to quickly record inside the app, or with some extra LFO or other effects-more sounds. Auv3? I mean it’s still definitely worth the price of admission and is still on all of my iOS devices. Obviously, you can use it in Audiobus/AUM and other apps but only IAA. I’m not asking for anything free as I would pay for a more functionality. As is – it is still a fun and cute app and I find myself going back to it every few months to just mess around and make some fun sounds. Thank you for making a solid and affordable app. I’m not slagging the app or devs by asking for more. I know all apps don’t do everything (believe me I own over 100 iOS audio apps, and have been beta testing apps for 13 years). i’m not one of those people that want the entire world in one app but a few extra in app purchases would be awesome. If you’re on the fence about getting this app, just take the plunge as you’re not going to be stuck with an over priced monthly subscription or an over priced app that you regret-you will have fun with it and it is most definitely a solid app!!

Still best. One of the best sounding synths and presets on App Store to date. Only wish it had MIDI in the Bebot Pro version!

Fun, powerful, amazing. A brilliant idea, this robot synth has so much character, but is also a surprisingly capable instrument in its own right. Definitely worth experimenting with, whether just for fun or something more serious. Latest update brings full iOS 8 functionality, so there's no more crashes!

Ridiculously Cute. My immediate reaction to Bebot was: "why on Earth would I want a singing robot on my iPhone?" After one glance at a screenshot and that adorable little guy, I amended my question. Why on Earth *wouldn't* I? Bebot is a simple application with a very specific purpose, but it pulls it off with so much charm that it's hard to fault. In its default settings, it's essentially a virtual theremin. Yet when that lovely hand-drawn robot leans back and forward with the pitch, it simply *works*. Bebot is, first and foremost, a terrific demonstration of the system's "fun" side. My 5-year-old cousin had an absolute blast with this, and adult friends (after spending some time trying to get the robot singing along with The B-52s' "Rock Lobster" in three-part harmony) all walked away craving their own iPhone. I've been meaning to review this app for some time. At first I was concerned with the difficulty of hitting the right note, which limited its functionality as a musical tool. Since then, however, the developer has made several substantial improvements, including several autotune modes, a note grid AND specific control over the musical scale. For a "mere" novelty app, the continued support for the product is impressive to say the least. Enough babbling. I don't need words to recommend Bebot. Just flick through the screenshots. Can you really say no to that face?

Amazing DJs dream!. This is easily 5 stars! One request though, recording option to turn into ringtones :)

My favourite app of all time. I've lived with apps since the iPhone 3G, and with Bebot for as much of that time as I care to remember. It's still my favourite, as it has been since the first day I got it. Nice work Russell. Long live my little robot buddy!!

Time for an update. Love it for its simplicity. Needs an update in 2020

Nope. Deleted.

Fantastic. Been looking for something to my day. The retro sounds and the cute robot just makes you feel good inside.

I love this app!. More fun than any game! I'll be buying anything else you release!

Huh?. WHY IS THIS SO MUCH FUN!?!?! No really, once you start playing with the looping function you just get a big stupid grin on your face.

Great fun synth. Great new update, giving bebot a huge range of new sounds, while still remaining easy and fun to play.

Great. Awesome. Fun , but needs a little something else... For 2 buks plus......

Amazing. To be able to program in scales and chords so your never out of key is great. Awesome flexibilty with sound effects. Be nice to have a master volume tho so as not to drown out when playing along with your iPod music. Great for both kids to play on as well as adults. Awesome clarity and cool synth sounds which you can also adjust am save as a personal preset. Awesome.

Simply great. Fantastic sounds and great playability. A must for theremin fans.

Great app after a few setting adjustments. It's a good app. I really don't like the default setting, and one or two of the quick selections are good enough to make it almost my favourite iPhone music app. Going more into the setting and setting up my own scale, toggling the notegrid, number of notes, etc, makes the app King. I would give it 5 stars if it had a better preset without the user needing to define it. As it is, to get really awesome use out of it, the user needs at the very least some knowledge of how to set up a scale they like, and then play around with the settings a bit.

Giggly looptastic fun. Have just found the looping function after playing with the various synth functions for 1/2 an hour, this makes the app worth the price of admission on it's own! Layering synths to create grooves takes this app to a whole other level of playability. Grab it!

Absolutely adorable. This app really makes you smile while busting out a variety of tunes and notes. I really enjoy teaching myself old chiptune melodies on this thing! Also great for entertaining kids with :)

Best Out There. I've tried dozens of music apps and scoured the net for something that's fun and enjoyable to play to create music, after the fun I've had in Electroplankton. This is great fun for anyone who's a fan of the electronic sound. 11/10

Good Fun!. I love this app! Didn't know about it till I saw Jordan Rudess use it and've had great fun playing it myself. I would love it if there was a scroll feature so you could play and scroll through the scales instead of switching the octaves straight up or down.

Good fun. Sounds are awesome. Great fun when your in the zone and great to annoy people with.

Awesome. This is absolutely brilliant! The best app. I've seen for iPhone. It's absolute genius and hours of fun.

awesome little synth app. Was hesitant about buying but loved it straight away :) very clever

Great!!!. One of the few sound/music apps that gives a new way to manipulate sound on the iPad, rather than just mimicking other instruments. Bebot, Sampletoy and Morphwiz are the only other apps I've found that create a whole new instrument. Fantastic stuff - would be great to see more features in future (record, interface editing), but at the current price what it does is a bargain.

Most excellent. Don't tell everyone bit this is going on my next tracks. Fun funky and fine sounding! Every loves it! Keep it coming great quality sound well done guys! Everybody needs a singing robot :)

Great for a jam session. Well I found I play like Jordan rudess from dream theatre since this app was released thanks for making my life rock.

This is the perfect app! (seriously). This is how to utilize the power of the iPhone OS. Classic styling, powerful software and one cute robot. Well done to Normalware for presenting a "tech instrument" in an intuitive and fun way. Even if you're not a musician, this is still a worthy addition to your apps library. If you are a musician.... prepare to have you mind blown.

THE BEST APP EVEEEEEEER!!!!. This app is probably the best app I have on my iPod!! Play a song on the iPod, launch Bebot, than it's happy days!!!!! If you have $2.49, GET IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would give about 14 stars out of 15 if I could. Don't re-think, just get it, NOWWWWW!!!!!!!

Great App!. This app is pretty amazing! Just keep adding more effects & sounds & this app will be off the richter scale!

Polished Application. If you are captivated by sound, this is a delight. The creator has put a lot of effort into making this a polished application that is good looking as well as great fun. Thank you.

Awesome. this is one of the best apps out there but it needs to be updated to the new ipod touch 5g and iphone 5

Lots of fun. The whole family had fun with this app, great idea and well executed.

iPhoneX issues!. Hi some major problems on iPhoneX blocking all gestures and no way to get back on home screen. Please fix my favourite fun synth ;)

Highly Entertaining. A friend showed me this small but highly entertaining application. Since then I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of creating fun little sound effects and trying to get it to say Wal-e (I almost have it). In a world were $2 hardly buys you a coffee, the small price is well worth it.

Fun yet professional sounding synth app. It might look like a toy, but the quality of the sounds this little app can generate are brilliant. With surprisingly little practise it is easy to make 'real' music too. Only criticism I have is that it is so much fun, you're left wanting for more sounds and options... they should definitely consider a Bebot Pro with more sounds for a higher price.

Love it!. Sooooo expressive! This is by far my favorite app! The only thing I can think of to improve this app is more sounds. This is fantastic! I can see more instruments like this coming out in the future. My guitar is gathering dust! Thankyou.

Essential App. This is now one of my favourite Apps, Well worth the cost! I have already spent hours playing with this and also passing it around the room at parties; make sure you have full batteries!

TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS FUN!!!. What a total blast this is. Addictive within 15 secs of opening! I'm so hooked with the immense round of noises that can be generated with a range of different play methods. Top ratings for this one!!!!

Great!!!. If it's good enough for Jordan Rudess from Dream Theater to use in the studio and on stage, it's good enough for us mere mortals!! Awesome!

OK. its pretty good but it does get boring after a while and it neads more tunes and it would be really great if u could record your songs

Wow this is awesome!. The sounds are trippy. It so cool making your own tunes. 5 star

Bebot: Killer App for iPhone. Fantastic, multimode synth. Anyone with ears and an iPhone has simply no excuse not to buy this application. Bebot seems so proud as you direct its masterfully programmed voices that it just eggs you on, like a perfect musical instrument should. Suggestions for the future: - Bebot should wear different clothes based on what mode he's in - Perhaps have some way of altering the range - Save/Load - Helper (from Venture Bros) mode Do not let these suggestions steer you away from this app. Buying it is the most important thing you will do this month.

Alot of fun!. I love playing with it

rad app, bpm function would make it epic... this is heaps fun, but if you could set the "echo" to a bpm, and then adjust notes (eg 120bpm, quarter note delay) it would become more than something just to mess around with...

Update needed. Great app, but needs to be updated for the 5!

Love It. What a top little app, can make some great sounds. I've got a studio full of synths to play with, analogue oldies, digital newies, software VSTi's etc, and i keep on coming back to this little robot! Not just a toy, but a very clever little instrument, beats the pants of most of the other similar apps, if you're even vaguely interested buy it now! 5 stars

Fun for kids. Surprising depth for musicians.. The pitch and timbre are cleverly represented by the robot's lean and mouth shape respectively. This is truly a clever analogy! Kids will love the cartoon graphics. The menu system squashes the screen slightly awkwardly but this allows for you to make changes while playing the instrument.

Swweeeet. Plug this baby into a home theater system and your can instantly annoy every one In a 1km radius.... It takes annoying my girlfriend to a whole new level... Also with a good sub the brown note can be achieved. :P

Awesome app. This app is fantastic. After seeing Jordan Rudess use it live, I immediately researched to find it. It is infinitely worth the price, and when you hook your iPod/iPhone up to an amplifier with really good speakers then the sound quality is AMAZING.

Pure joy, gets better and better. Simple fun at first, but keep playing and it becomes as rewarding as any synth - the more you experiment, the deeper it gets. Plus the kids love it. For just two bucks, I'd like to give it ten stars.

Serious instrument here. Thing this is insane, from lead synths to theremin sounds to wacky effects and a little robot to boot.

Mate!. This app is brilliant! You don't have to love music to buy this, I don't have a musical bone in my body and I haven't stopped playing it :) For 2.49 though it would be nice if you could add a beat and maybe a feature to record and export the sounds or songs you make :)

great sounding and fun!. this is a phenomenal app that sounds great, has tons of features, is very easy to get started on and very fun to use. it will definitely be used in the studio and everywhere. a serious music app in a playful package.

Amazing. This app is so fun. The different preset sounds are awesome. Best app I've bought in a while.

ITS SO FUN. Im sitting here being COMPLETELY amused by a singing Robot... My life is complete

Useless, but really REALLY fun. OK, so I spent $2 on this, but it's really fun to play around with the Timbre, Echo, and stuff... you can even play simple tunes with the scale lines appearing on the screen (like plucking a harp). You can make sounds that drives cats crazy. Definitely worth the money just for the hour that I spent trying out all the features and making weird space-alien sounds.

AAA. Yeah!!!

Absolutely love this app!. I have had BeBot since it came out and have found it to be one of the best apps I ever bought. It has worked on all the different models of iPads and iPhones I have owned. Thank you Normalware.

Best app I've ever bought. Its great to play around with and fairly easy to use once you sit and play with it for a bit. Great for parties and friends. I'm a musician so having a synthesizer in my pocket is pretty great. The only thing that would make this app better, and hopefully it will be contained in later upgrades, would be a record button and option to save a song or something that you've done. Not just the synthesizer settings =]

Looks like a toy, plays like a synth. Most "fun" I have ever had playing a instrument. And actually turns out to be one of the best synths on the app store. Simple for beginners, deep for experts.

Superb and fun!. I love this app! Nice to have: Loop is great but should have a bmp feature to define the loop length. And maybe an easier access to other preset sound while in the loop mode. And why not mp3 export or the creations?

Jordan Rudess is a Fricking Genius. He was the main creator of this APP and he has so many good keyboard like apps and other apps! YOU PEOPLE SHOULD LOOK AT ALL HIS APPS!

Amazing app. Worth ever penny!!!!!!! Loads of fun

Excellent App!. Quite addicting and works well.

Best musical app available!. No kidding. The interface is so simple and easy to use, meaning anyone can get down with this guy. Not a one trick pony...the choices for tones/delay/overdrive effects give you so many options. The fact that you can customize the scale and range makes bebot genuinely useful in real musical settings. Polyphonic too! - awesome. If someone came out with a stand-alone touch screen style synth that sounded as good and was as heavily featured and versatile as this, I'd gladly pay $300 for one...and this is only 2 bucks! Don't hesitate and don't miss out on this lil' funky robo-friend.

Godly. Orgasmic

Yes!!!. I never ever review. I trusted the feedback of others on this one. I love apps that are hilarious, creative, and fun. This is a must have. Appsolutlely (see what i did there?) worth it. " bwoop bwop bweep beep bip bip doot doot doot dweeeeeeEEEEEEOOOOOP!"

iPod to the studo. Bebot is my favourite app, period. I keep longing for little touch strips on the keys of my midi controlers and old synths so that they could give me he kind of contol that I get from his little app. The interface is genius. I have uses it on real world projects in the studio, and Bebot rocks. I cannot wait for other gems that must someday come from the makers of Bebot. Buy it!

Awesome!!. I can just see myself now, onstage, pressing my phone up to my bridge pickup just before the solo to whole lotta love....WHERRRRRRrrrrr.. If you're a Phil X fan, this is a must have app. Youll never find a better way to spend your spare change!

Thank you for developing this app!. We need more chip tunes style apps and I'm glad to see stuff like this is hitting up the Apple Store! Thank you awesome developers, keep making creative apps like this and I'll keep buying them. Prince is too low, I would pay more! :)

Great fun. I love the versatility of this app. I almost want to master playing this, and then join a band with BEBOT. The only thing I would like them to add is some sort of background beats so that we can groove with it like we did back when owned our yamaha dx keyboards.

Uhhhmazing!!. Freaking awesome app!!!

HDTA. Trend Reznor is using this app on his new project How To Destroy Angels. I love the sounds. Great sounding analog like samples. Love it. However, the user interface is not that great. Controls are confusing. But well worth the bucks.

5 Stars!. Awesome app!!

Great. Thank you the 64 bits version!!!

I used it in pro recording. This app is sick and sounds great. I actually used this in a recent production I did!

Bebot my favourite. The best musical robot ever it’s so fun, you can make music and make it talk and be silly with it and you can dance around to music and you can even prank your friends with it because it’s a pretty cool way to make music with your robot

Solid app. This is not just an application. This turns the iPod (iPhone) into a very powerful synth.

Awesome. It I'd truly amazing. However I would add a record button cuz I've been makin some sweet tunes ahahaha.

Really cool. Lots of fun well worth buying

love it. i'll never get sick of bebot. i loop it through my PA and drum along.

Cute, Funny, and Awesome!!!. This app is so cool!!! This cartoon robot interface is amazing!!! The synth is awesome too, this reminds me the thumbjam and morphwiz, but this app has his own style and deserves 5 stars. I highly recommend it, even if you already have ThumbJam or MorphWiz, it's so fun!!!

Sooooo Cool. You cant go wrong with this app, its fun, addictive and and passes the time. Not bad price either.

amusingly clever!. ....what a great addition to my dj setup! simply well made and easy to use! the synth engine is rock solid.... now, let's see some distortion on this bad boy and a note sustain/hold function! kudos to normalware!

Amazing. Excellent app, sounds great. Singing robot is super-cute too!

Fun fun happy. Sounds good, cute robot, i would use this for live performance

Mee likeeeeeeey. The other reviews said it all

Awesome. This app is very addictive, but there should be like some notes to play along to so you can learn to play a song and then show off your skillz

Coolest app ever. $2.00 for this much fun? C'mon just buy it.

Drains battery in background - bugged or bad?. I reinstalled Bebot from my My Purchases list on Monday evening, played with it for a few minutes, and then forgot about it. Haven’t opened it again since. Today, Thursday afternoon, I’m looking at my battery usage graph in Settings, and it shows that Bebot has been accounting for 30% of my battery usage each day since then, for “Audio, Background Activity” These are during days of heavy podcast & redditting use; its not like my phone was idling in standby all day either. Excuse me, but what? What is Bebot doing so much of in the background? At best, this is just buggy and unmaintained software. At worst, I find it pretty suspicious.

Great. Love it sooooooo much

Fierce!. Impossible not to love Bebot. This app has so much potential! Keep innovating :D

One of the greatest Apps of all time. This App was one of the first iOS Apps I ever purchased and it's always remained a favorite. It's one that never gets old, no matter how old you are.

Does not work with iOS 8. It loads and crashes. Even after deleting and reinstalling. The days of terrorizing the family with it may be over.

Love the app. Love the app, it's a great little synth I just wish I could use it with audiobus or the app have a record ability with audio copy. Created some wicked stuff I wish I could record. But all in all Tis a great app, will get 5 stars when it has a record ability

After all this years this is still amazing app!. Simple is the best said wise man. There are couple of music apps that should be on every iPad. This is one of them. It is simple but very powerful and I hope this app will last for a long time. Sound is amazing and it is very easy to use it. Highly recommend for all generations. P.S. Dear developer please keep this small jewel updated!

Fantastic!!!!. It's perfect for both casual people who just want to make funny sound effects and for musicians who want a synthesizer that they can carry in their pocket! Just buy it. It will be the best two dollars you've ever spent in your life.

So good.. This was one of the first Apps I downloaded for my first iPhone back in 2009 or 2010. It’s the perfect representation of how Apple apps should be: simple user interface but lots of tinkering that can be done under the hood. I’m surprised the dev has kept updating the app after all these years. None of the other apps I have from back then are even 64 bit, so kudos to the developer! The app itself is very fun to play with, and my two year old absolutely loves it. If you’re musically inclined, you can do some legit synthesizer action with it. So happy it’s still kicking.

I’ve loved Bebot for years. Bebot is my favourite app. He is always loyal and ready to play. I’m almost embarrassed to let you know that I got an iPad so I could have Bebot with me always.

Bebot = Definition of a GREAT app!. Simple, Silly, Addicting, and Innovative! The Bebot is just an amusing character itself with all the gestures you can make it do, there should be a cartoon made for it!!!

Orientation issue. I like this little app and have had it since it first arrived on the iPhone so was excited when it was updated to a Universal. However, they obviously didn't test it with Apple's own iPad case because the orientation is locked in one horizontal direction...and it's upside down when the iPad's propped up in the case! Only 4 stars until this is fixed.

Inspiring and way beyond 'just a game'.. I'm a guitarist. I write music. This is like keyboard in your hand. Even if you're not a musician, you can have fun with this. Very relaxing with headphones on, a ton of features to change the sound, and can easily be hooked up to music software so you can record all your musical ideas. A truely innovative gem that is 'way beyond' just a game. This opens your mind and creativty.

Cute Robot, awesome graphics. The graphics are high-quality, Bebot is adorable, and it's entertaining. I've heard several reviewers here getting it to play certain songs or sounds, like make bebot say "wall-E"! For synth and electric music experts/creators it's a lot of fun, but for the rest of us, it can get a little boring after a few minutes there a tutorial somewhere on the website as to create something like a song, not just play a few notes? I've been trying to get bebot to sound just like the synth sounds from the song "I Am Not Drunk" by Benassi Brothers. Does anyone here know exactly what effects on bebot can make him sound like that song? Thanx!

Bebot is the bomb!. Yes, it's a singing robot, but you can't help but love him (it). The sounds are great, and it feels just like you're tweaking the resonance and filter knobs-much like a big fat ribbon controller. It would be awesomer if you could make the notes bend somehow when setting the key follow to snap. Then you could rip out some mad solos! I almost wrecked my car the other day cause I couldn't stop playing with him...I mean...it. I can make him sound like wall-e and eeeeva, too. The kids love it.

Still my favorite app ever.. Bebot was one of my first apps when I got my iPhone 3GS. Now I've graduated to iPad and it's still my favorite (on either gadget) for its instantaneously engaging and ingenious nature. There are more expensive music apps out there (and I have some idea what I'm talking about - as a piano teacher with a weakness for electronics and technology, music is just about all I use my iPad for) but none live up to the combination of creativity, playfulness, fuss-free usability, and sheer AWESOME POWER of Bebot. Nothing puts a smile on my face faster.

Truly Amazing. I would have gladly paid $100 for an instrument like this. The abillity to be able to customize the sounds, the scale and how it reacts to the touch input is truly amazing. More amazing is how simple it is to edit the sound. I use this app in my live looping project because the ease of use is only bested by the stellar sound quality when played thru an amp or mixing console. I record with BeBot directly into my Mbox into ProTools and sounds exceptional. $2??? A no brainer. Bravo to the creators of this App!!!

Addictive annoyance. First thing you'll do with this app is make all sorts of neat sounds. With a liitle bit of talent and maybe a drumbeat you can make some pretty great music. I personally like using the lower right corner to make a "Whoo!" sound. Also great for playing pranks on people. That said you will annoy anyone that is not currently playing with it. Mind you I find this as a plus, but then I'm a jerk. Still, those that are annoyed by it are instantly charmed by playing with it themselves.

Fantastic. One of the first things I wanted my iPhone to do is make robot noises. Since I got my iPad, I've spent over $30 on apps specifically made for music creation, but I still find myself coming back to this app because of it's simplicity and the sheer fun of it. Didn't even matter that it was still just an iPhone app running on the iPad, it was still amazing. Now that they added iPad support, it's even better. Bravo developers!

Cracks me up!. This thing is so entertaining for some reason... Every time I use it makes me smile, and some of the sounds are downright funny. I could see how this might be useful for recording something, if you have enough talent to play it precisely, but really it just makes everyone who uses it giggle. The animations with the sound really help with the humor factor. This is one of the most fun little apps I've bought, well worth the pocket change!

The single best app on the iPhone!. From a musicians stand point, this is a great new instrument! Sounds great! Feels natural! Highly customizable now after the update (which allows you to save and recall your favorite settings, choose pre/post overdrive, and a new chorus effect). This proves that with innovative hardware and imagination for something wild and new, anything and everything is possible! Great work! 10 stars if I could!

Possibly the best music application for the iPhone. This is worth way more than two dollars. I'm not too familiar with synthesizers, but the day the iPhone was announced, the first thing that came to mind was "multi-touch synthesizer." This has great sound, great customization, and does a great job of being a real musical instrument. I just spent an hour and a half improvising. I found out about this from Jordan Rudess, keyboardist of Dream Theater. He's one of the best keyboardists in the world. I was surprised to see him recommend an iPhone application, yet alone use it on an album. (Black Clouds & Silver Linings) Great application.

BeBot, you tireless little tone machine!. It's blows my mind, no matter how long I play him; no matter how many octaves I put him through and how many chords I push on him, BeBot never gets tired... He just belts out note after note with confidence and a smile, pitch perfect! I love you BeBot. Charming and humorous interface aside, this is one serious and powerful app. Best synth out there and probably best music app altogether! The app is perfect - it would be on another level if they integrated the ability to record sessions... Then maybe evolve to dubbing / multi-tracking. Please consider!?!?

Best Theremin. I just spent about thirty minutes writing a great review of this and it was disposed of because someone had taken the nickname I used. COME ON, APPLE! That kind of BS is what I expect from MICROSOFT! This is my first review, as you may now have guessed. If someone has already used THIS nickname, then I give up. Now I'm tired of typing so ... In short, I have all the Theremins available on here and this is the best, because it's easy to do vibratos. All it needs now is a screen with reference lines so it's easier to hit notes. Great product at an unbelievable price!! The best music app yet.

Professional quality musical instrument. Don't be fooled by the cute robot, this app is a powerhouse for sonic expression, and should be taken as seriously as a guitar or keyboard. It's one of the most expressive musical instruments I've ever played, and more responsive than most other iPad instruments. I've got a Moog theremin that costs around $400. This app sounds just as good, is much easier to play, is polyphonic, has more sound options, and costs a couple of bucks. You'd be a fool to pass it up.

Funny but a little pricey. This is not a bad app at all. It is a little pricey if you are frugal and struggling in this economy. Otherwise, enjoy playing with this app. I enjoyed it very much in just making funny sounds and making my kids laugh. Sheesh don't be so critical, if you don't like it, tough! Move on to another app that you may not like. Kudos to the programmers at Normalware. Can you add a way to use our own voice to change?

The little robot that could. Who would have thought that a little cartoon robot would be so much fun, and make you smile so easily? For $2, this a fantastic little app. Whether you just want to slide one finger around and have fun with the pitch, or tap several fingers on the screen for a burbling robot, you're sure to have fun with this little guy. Plus, he looks so pleased with himself as he sways to your sounds that you can't help but smile with him. Kudos to the Normalware team for their art design, their interface work, and their sense of fun.

Recommendation For Developer. Recommendation For Developer .... i would absolutely love (need) to see an update that included the ability to save "instruments" - in which you could save the state of the app and recall all of the settings just as you have fine tuned them (including all parameters - scale, effects, etc.) This would allow us to really use this as an instrument in performance and have setups for certain songs that we can easily recall (particularly the key!) I would love to see that!!!!!

Perfect Musical Instrument App. I have updated my review for the new version because it takes a great app and makes it perfect. The ability to save settings was the big thing holding this software back. Now that that has been added as well as auto-save not to mention the amazing sounds of the new chorus effect and overall greater depth in the settings menus. This is one of the coolest things ever.

so much to love. I love love love the Bebot! I've used it in a couple of compositions and submitted a soundtrack for a short film that needed a theremin. I only needed to turn in a few seconds of sound, but sent them 10+ minutes of pure electro-wankerie. I cannot believe such a great sounding synth comes in such a small (and cute) package. The effects are quite nice as well. I totally dig the pony that is the delay and it's functionality. To the developer(s): you have made the world a better place.

Most Well-crafted Waste of Time Ever!. This little "singing" robot synthesizer is so very basic and simple yet created with such a level of detail, this is easily one of the best time-wasters I've bought from the app store yet! Its not much more than a synth sound generator, but it is so well made and easy to use, I could play with it for hours... and have! If the developer added an optional beat track in the background, I'd marry this app.

The Best Music App for the iPhone That I've Found. I like keyboards and synthesizers, and was looking for a fun iPhone app to play around with. This one offers a variety of waveforms, some delay options, a chorus settings. While I think some more effects and timbre options would make this even more amazing, I love the multitouch interface and the ability to set custom scales. The robot graphics are nice. It also sounds great. Unlike other iPhone synths that make you try to play on a keyboard that is too small to actually play on, the more Kaoss-Pad like grid here is perfect and very usable. Well done.

Worth every penny and then some. Cool little app. I got it after seeing the Jordan Rudess video. I've had a lot of fun with it. I think it'd be better on an iPad but they've gotten the interface to work pretty well on the little iPhone screen. Not a professional tool by any means, but for $2 what do you want? Seriously. Sounds pretty good and is versitile. Kids and adult musicians alike will love it. I haven't hooked it up to try to record with it yet but I'm looking forward to it. Like I said, it's not a professional tool, but it has its uses. Just turn on your music and jam out with it. Only one complaint from me, though. There seems to be a bug where if you hit 3 or 4 notes at the same time, then change notes, Bebot will get "stuck" on a note. Mostly just stick to two-note polyphony and you're fine. Sometimes when throwing in three or four notes you'll get stuck and have to tap the screen to shut him up again. But again, for $2 it's MORE than worth it. Hopefully the bug I mentioned will get taken care of in an update at some point.

Beatifully done. At first I was a bit hesitant at spending $2 on this, but decided to risk it and buy it. What a great choice on my part. There is a huge range of sounds you can make, and the "interactive robot" is really cute and its movements are determined by your music. My only problems is that it took a while to figure out what everything does (since I'm a musician but never have I used a synthesizer before) and that hopefully the DEVELOPER CAN PUT SOME INSTRUCTIONS IN TO MAKE THOSE REALLY COOL SOUNDS THEY SHOWED ON THEIR VIDEO ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!!! I still haven't figured out how to make that harp-like sound. Right now, 4 and 9/10 ths of a star! XD

Glad for the iPad version. Very glad to see one of my favorite apps from the iPhone has made it's way to the iPad. I would really like to see a little more effort put into the iPad interface for future versions though. The settings screens are very obviously still the iPhone versions stuck down in the corner with poor resolution. More importantly, the fact that the whole app is locked into one orientation (and an awkward one, if you happen to have your iPad in an Apple case) is disappointing.

Awsome but.... I love bebot robot I use it on my friends. Only minor thing that wold make it better is if u cold make it thunder on him and drag him up and into the water, which wold change it from water sounds, and the bubbles that came out wold be either blue red or light green and when u popped one it wold make the next one pop (the light green one) which wold sound like either an oink or a meow depending on how fast u pressed it before it disappeared, it would be good to include in update and more ppl would buy. Other than that it's perfect, A+++

After a over a year it's still my favorite music app. I've blown a lot of money on music apps in the 2 years I've owned an iPhone. This is still my favorite. It sticks to a few basic features but does them extremely well, and really takes advantage of the touch screen. I don't want more apps that try to port desktop music-making experiences to my phone; I want more apps like this which are designed with the phone's strengths and weaknesses in mind.

Bebot=BB-8. Okay, first let me just say that I love this app...easy to use, makes interesting sounds...for a musician/experimenter like myself it's what I look for in sound apps. I try to stay on top of new music apps, I like to try them all...and Bebot has always been in my arsenal. Now flash forward to The Force Awakens...BB-8 "the scene stealer"...lol. I had read that when they were making BB-8's "dialogue" that J.J. Abrams used an iphone app....well, THIS is the app you are looking for....straight Bebot sound right out of the box(in the film it is obviously processed more but this app is the main component and is certainly the one that was referred to.). Kinda surprised the developers haven't touted this fact yet. You will have a lot of fun making BB-8 phrases.

Just wonderful. I had to update my updated review.. Skip the nord, you can keep the nord, but you will never take my bebot! Was up until 4am the night of the update! Old update review: Thanks again for another awesome update!! Funny a reviewer "professional musician" says 'just an app for fun, not a serious synth' then says ' but going to use it on a track' nuff said. It's the interface where the revolution lies, not as much the synthesis. You MIGHT have more fun on a new Nord..but not on the crapper! I guess all that'd left to greedily beg for now is (lagless) midi out :) Original review: Thank you, even more amazing after last update-- I'll only greedily beg for 1 more feature.. Save my settings so it's the same as when I last used the app.. Add that and I think we have utter perfection.. Sometimes I fumble and hit the home key and have to rejigger-- save me from my clumsieness :)

Mono synth in my pocket. Apps like Bebot are the reason why I'd kill over my iPod touch. Not only does it give your iPod or iPhone new purpose, it's also one hell of a rich founding mono synth. And with the ability to create your own patches, plus the really good patches that come with the app, I don't understand why this isn't one the top 10 music apps. Definitely a MUST have if you a are computer musician, and if your into chip-tune tracks.. This is definitely up yer arsenal.

Amazing. This app is really a lot better than it has any business being. It's startling. Honestly, it rivals "real" instruments -- and I hate saying that. It's way easy to use, and has enormous potential as a real instrument. I'm going to experiment with running my ipad through effect pedals soon. And as if the utility of it wasn't enough, the visual effects and the robot is just amazing. This app could be half as good and still warrant five stars. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. Some small things: I'd love to see more presets. I'm not crazy about the ones on here. If the app could detect the key of songs playing through the iPad, it would be really easy for non-musicians to solo with this thing. The effects are so good! I'd like to see more of them. A tremolo seems like it'd be pretty simple, right? Tap tempo would be amazing. Also, putting the timbre control on the effects page would be a simpler way of organizing things.

Even better than I thought. Wow.....blew my mind....just like Rudess said in his video. Get's better everytime I play it. I play a vintage strat, slide the dobro and pick the acoustic guitars....love music.....LOVE music! Put on some headphones....find a mellow tone.....disable the black key lines.....and flow.....incredible App.....can rest assured say this will be the best 2 bucks I have or will ever spend in this lifetime. Gscale and 7chords are must have's if you play guitar by the way. I'm an app junkie. Think I'm up to about 150......this one grabs you and won't let go if you spend a tiny bit of time finding your sweet spot......have fun!

Must buy for synth fans. If you have even a passing interest in synth improv and electronica, you will LOVE this little robot. Robust but easy to access tone and effect controls, and the ability to construct your own tonal scale is a dream come true. Plus, the way the little guy sings along is adorable, but not distracting. The ONLY thing I'd wish for (but it's already a five-star app) is the ability to isolate looped riffs so you're not constantly overlaying a bass or melody riff with new sound; being able to layer loops and then doodle over them would be PERFECT.

Works perfect. I've had this app after I got my phone over 2 years ago and with the new update it just makes it even more awesome. I'd recommend it to anyone. I haven't had any problems with it. Some of the different sounds can remind you of old sci fi or retro games. You can create your own weird cool sounds. Anyone that would do any sound or music creation would want to see app first.

Freakin AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!. This app is magically fantastical!!!! My thanks go out to the developers for being SO creative and original with the robot idea! If you like electronic noises, robots, or just want one MORE thing to show all the iPhone nay-sayers this app is for you! Let's see the stupid VZW Blueberry Thunder do THIS! Ha ha :) Awesome. (To anyone quick to correct me, I KNOW it's called the Blackberry Storm. It's a dumb phone created solely to compete with the iPhone which came over a YEAR too late, so I gave it a dumb name...that's all)

Lovers of robots and silliness, this app is for you!. iPhone apps are just getting funner and funner (is that a real word?) My husband was looking for synth apps and stumbled on this one. The first night he stayed up late playing with it because it was so cute that it reminded him of me (apparently I am prone to making cartoon noises without realizing it). If you aren't a musician but have ever spent hours aimlessly playing around on a synth, you will love this app! Or if you just find amusement in watching a cute robot making funny noises.

Don't listen to the negative!! Get it!!. First of all.. This app is amazing in alot of Aspects, but I'm impressed by all the professional sounds you can get out of it. It has multiple touch points so you can make many simultaneous sounds.. You can't have enough fingers!! The little robot is cool.. His mouth moves to different ranges and he leans back to high notes and forward to low notes.. It's pretty darn cute.. Girls love it!! You can play around with all of the effects and come up with some amazing stuff. Try hooking it up to a sick sound system and it sounds amazing!! Get it! I'm serious...

So much fun. Add a recording capability and maybe a way to make a midi instrument, it would be cool to take what sounds I make and put them into GarageBand. Also add a trace function to visualize where you traced, especially if it can show your recording trace. What if you could repeat a recorded sound by showing the recorded trace and then allowing the user to slide back and forth along that prerecorded trace? Maybe show two prerecorded traces and scratch back like scratching a record. Add more effects as well please.

A rare gig-gable instrument. The greatest instrument made for the phone, I would love to emulate even half it's success.... Would the people punching it over in-app record just shut up already... 1 star feature requests dont work. It has clean sound, low latency, playability, and fretless capability. Audio copy paste is a hokey workaround to what you actually want .. Having a recording app be able to bounce tracks from other sound making apps. Plug it into a guitar amp or external audio workstation... What it was made for.

THIS IS A BLAST!!!!!!. Just buy it. I am a professional musician, and this is one of the most fun synths I've played with anywhere. You need to realize that it's just an app for fun, not for serious music or synthesis. That said.... I plan on doing a track using this soon. It's actually really cool sounding when you tweak the sound parameters. Brilliant and very fun to look at interface. My kids steal my iphone and play with this all the time. Great work!!!!

Bebot, answer the challenge of ThumbJam. When I first got Bebot I was very impressed with it and it's wonderfully unique approach to music making. In many ways it still is a cool musical app for the iPhone form factor. But then ThumbJam was released and it took Bebot's musical approach (credit where credit is due) not just to a new level, but many new levels and dimensions, as a true musical instrument for the iphone and iPod Touch. Normalware, the new player on the field has thrown down the gauntlet with great flair and gusto, it's time you refocus and pick it up!

Surprisingly awesome music creation app. I bought this app because the robot is cute and it's fun trying to make him go WOOOW! But after diving into some of the advanced features, I got lost in making weird music with it. I wish I could have recorded some of the stuff but this thing is pretty powerful. If I were this developer I would break this into another app just for music tinkerers because it's very well done. The sound manipulation, fx, and response are very solid. Worth the money!

The best music app, unbelievably great!!!. Double click the litle circle at the lower right and change settings. Set to snap and set scale to 5 note scale like all black keys or equivalent in the key of your favorite song. Play along and sound like super pro improvisor. Wow, give this 5 stars and subtract 1 star from all other music apps. Authors: If you add only one more feature, make it save current settings when app closes. That's all. Thank you for this great instrument!

Simple yet sophisticated, great for ANYONE. This really is an amazing app- simple enough to keep kids amused until the battery runs out, but with enough options and quality performance to really anyone engaged and wanting to do more. Anyone who says this app is too simple has obviously missed the fundamental options this app provides with multiple sounds and a wide array of adjustments. Musician friends of mine have been impressed, nephews an nieces have been entertained and my wife and I have jammed together on our own phones. A really exceptional little program with a lot of things going for it; the best $2 you'll spend!

Just Great!!!. Diserves my first app review. I never expected music apps to be this good. If you're an instrument head like me and you like electronic music and experimenting with technology, then this app is a must have. I tried to find a flaw but can't find any yet. You can save presets, you can play with parameters while playing, the interface is great and all the features are revolutionary. It's kind of like playing with a Reactable but lite version, plus the robot is very trippy. Nice price also. I would even pay up to $10 if it cost that much. Believe me... buy it, but only if you're serious about music creation, technology, and electronic music.

My favorite so far.... This is a great, simple program. You slide your fingers (up to 4!) around and make the robot sing - that's really all there is, but I find it hypnotizing, and more than just being a novelty it really is a musical instrument. The sound is theremin-like, as is the difficulty of actually "playing" it. However, it's brilliant for sound effects and noise performances, and after a while, you get a sense of where notes are.

Good quality app. Just one thing missing. I feel like this is a wonderful app with its incredible user interface and ability to add a note grid and being able to use multiple sound alterations. The only thing that bugs me about this app is that it does not have a live recording feature like most of my other music apps. This would make it a five star app, giving you the ability to audio copy and then paste it straight into garage band or any other music editor you might have. It would certainly make many other people happy as well.

Bebot-Robot Synth. Bebot is has a very interesting software that can be played by little kids or adults. I was first inspired to purchase this app when I saw Dream Theater live in the Chicago Theatre and the keyboardist, Jordan Rudess, pulled out his iPhone during the song, A Rite of Passage, and played a solo on Bebot. At the time I didn't know what it was called. I searched for a very long time until I recently stumbled upon a video of Rudess playing on Bebot. I read the reviews and bought it instantly. Everyone was saying it was well worth $10 and at first I couldn't believe them. After playing with it for a few minutes I saw Bebot's full potential. This is a great buy and I am a very happy customer.

Awesome!. Once you get past the initial "Wow Factor" of the sound, go into the settings and play around. You will discover how to really make an instrument out of it. For example; snapping the notes to the grid and setting up the scale suddenly gives you much more control. Once you remove some of the illusionary randomness, you have an unbelievable tool for adding to your music. Very cool. Please let my save my settings as part of the first update!

BeBot is simply the best iPhone app ever! Great fun and great music maker.. I just bought BeBot and immediately regretted not having done so sooner. This gem of an app is the most elegant and delightful little program I have ever come across. While I'm certain Mr. Black will continue to improve BeBot, I can think of no complaints or criticisms at all. Everyone I show BeBot too is immediately hooked and goes to buy it for themselves. The price is laughable and the hours and hours of joy provided by BeBot pay you back over and over. Buy BeBot. All you need is a heart and an iPhone, you're guaranteed to love it.

Can't believe how good this actually is!. I own dozens of iOS synths - I thought this one was basically a toy. Turns out it has a really deep and varied range of sounds. It even has sub-oscillators for some mean sounding basses. There are presets, and you can save your own tweaked sounds as well. Best of all, it has a useful touch grid interface that you can set to a scale and even control whether it snaps or slides to in-key notes. AudioBus compatability makes it a useful sketch tool, or a fun 3-minute distraction. Awesome!

Incredible Synth. I've had this app for a long time. I loved to show my friends how cute he was making his weird noise on my iphone. I put this app on my ipad as well and only recently went into the settings to find there are actually several powerful synthesizers. So easy... a caveman could do it. I love jamming with this thing on my ipad. Looks, feels and sounds amazing. As fun to play as the more expensive synths I've purchased. (not to mention easier) :-) GET IT!

Great app for all ages. It's got to say something about this app that one of my son's first words is "BEE BOT". I've owned this app since it was first released and it has stayed on my phone and in use since. Fun to just kick around with the presets, or even to jam on with friends. And if you want to get serious about it, just dig into the settings and customize to your hearts content. Don't let the catchy graphics fool you, this is a serious performance synth.
