Best $5 spent in the App Store to date. This application allows me to substitute a large lighting console for a coupe of iPads and has the flexibility for custom building or layouts. Money well spent, this has been quality since first purchased 5 years ago.

Nothing short of amazing!. This app is absolutely incredible. Took me some time to get it properly set up with Ableton, and now I have full control of the DAW using the LiveControl iPad template. If you're looking to set this app up with Ableton on Windows, you will need the LoopBe1 program to create the "invisible cable" over wifi. You will need another program called PureData to monitor and make sure you are correctly receiving MIDI signals on your computer. Finally, you will need the LiveControl program installed as these act like drivers for TouchOSC on the PC. All these programs required are free to download. Last, you have to go to Ableton and click Preferences, click the MIDI sync tab, and use LiveControl_TO as the control surface, set the input to Loopbe internal MIDI, and the output to whatever you want it to sound through (by default on Windows, is Microsoft GS wave table synth.) like I said, all this took me a while to set up, so if you're looking to use this in Ableton on Windows, this is what you need to set it up. Hope this helps anyone with a similar setup!

Not giving up yet 😂. I’ve been at this TouchOSC for a few days now, created custom layouts with Toggles, Rotaries, Push Buttons , Faders, XY Pads and Multis to use for virtual instrument libraries within Logic Pro X, Kontakt and other plugins. I am getting the hang of it. Though, it seems that, using TouchOSC over a network connection at times chokes up notes on MacBook Pro 2015 with 16 gigs of ram and SSD Drives. Need to do more trouble shooting with TouchOSC & Osculator. I am thinking maybe Osculator is the culprit here. It would be nice if Hexler would make TOSC USB capable as well. Other than that I like the TOSC. As mentioned in other previous reviews, it would be nice to also have more choice for colors and graphics.

Wow. Holy jeez, this is amazing. Clearly a lot of hard work and dedication on the developers' part. Very well worth the purchase cost.

This App Is The Best!. I’d love to see more and more updates to this app. I love it. I use it for just about everything. This is THE GAME CHANGER! I will have everyone i come in contact with using this app! I call it, “The Ultimate Midi Controller”!!!

First day using the app and my life has already gotten better.. After downloading the editor and importing the layout for the hog 4 by high end systems. It was easy to set up and after playing with it for a couple hours I figure out how to designed my own layout that was a plot of one of the sets on the show I’m working on. I used buttons that when pushed would trigger a keystroke macro that would add the channel(s) into my command line. Having the control and efficiency that this app has enabled is amazing for how inexpensive it is. It was money well spent!

Great tool. Worked great on my iPhone se but having problems with it shutting app on my new iPhone 7. Hopeful that I can resolve the issue because it has become a great creative tool

Great app for any digital media artist/developer!. Just got done using TouchOSC to control a high profile visual installation at an international electronic art festival. The app worked wonderfully despite some weirdness with the internal network in the venue. I was connecting with the Java/Processing library oscP5 to control a giant architecture tracing installation in front of a huge crowd. The controls offered are very nice and react instantaneously, sending messages lightning quick over the network. To the guy who said it doesn't work with any app, you must be having network/firewall issues or simply don't understand how this technology works. It may not be brain-dead simple but what high performance technology is? Don't blame the tools! There are a couple things I'd like to add to the obligatory request list, if I may. - Array of trigger buttons (not just toggles) - Glide/momentum option on faders - More colors for controls (I was mapping to various preset colors, it would have been nice to visually be able to match the RGB of the color I was triggering, to the color of the TouchOSC control.) - Attractors, which could pull the fader or XY back to a 'home' value with a certain force Great job, I just got an iPad and I'm stoked to try this out as the first app I play with on the new device. I am highly reccomending OSC and specifically TouchOSC to all the electronic musicians and artists I know.

Solid App, Needs Some Polish. This is an incredibly useful app. It works great for designing templates and triggering MIDI commands from a custom layout. It needs some polish though. Lots of little annoyances are present, like screen rotation issues, a clunky app interface, and a companion layout design app that has been neglected for years. Overall, I would 100% recommend this app. I just wish the developers would put a little more time into cleaning up the user experience.

Bravo! This is the missing link. At least it was for me. Somewhat obsessed with midi controllers and had been tweaking a live loops set up and for some time just always had that 1 button or command that I didn’t want to have to press. I have had like 5-6 of the more well known midi to daw controllers (notation, Akai) and still use those plenty. But this app magnificently does things that none of those controllers can do. This helped me creatively, technically and now I have a lot more flexibility to do more interesting thing in my sets and continue the exploration. I have never written a review before - this app is a must have if you do anything with MIDI

Very nicely done. I must say that this is quite possibly the best 5 bucks you will spend in the app store. Because i am not too familiar with the way OSC works, it took me about an hour or so of research and banging my head against the wall before I was able to sync this with Ableton. When i figured it out though...I am so amazed at the possibilities of this! As other reviewers have mentioned it is like a tiny jazzmutant lemur. You can design your own parameters and MIDI functions for use in any of your audio programs. Completely user customizable. I just purchased the Novation Launchpad days before I bought this and Im considering returning it because I can practically control everything that I need to for 5 bucks as opposed to 200 bucks! Fyi: There is an awesome layout for OSC created by juanlittledevil (google him) that I found and installed. It works perfectly with Ableton and i would highly recommend downloading it from his site.

Love this app. Really powerful app, you can almost do anything with it.

Respect. One of the greatest apps ever made! FEEL THE POWAH

Love it but broken by iOS 13.2. Self-explanatory. Was working fine, updated to iOS 13.2, now the app crashes on launch. Deleted and reinstalled… No help.

Works great, really ugly!. Let me say, this is a fantastic piece of software that works reliably and does everything I might ask for - my 5 star review reflects that. My only complaint (and its a pretty big one) is that it’s UGLY. Controls are limited to a single shape with 8(?) colors to choose from. Let us customize an RGB value for the color. More importantly, let us import our own graphical assets to use as buttons - it would take this app to an entirely new level. Thank you for your work!

Will Not Control Ableton Live From iPad. I’ve tried everything, followed the online “manual” (such as it is) and TouchOSC from my iPad will not send any midi control to Ableton Live. Installed TouchOSC Bridge on my desktop PC… multiple times, TouchOSC finds TouchOSC Bridge my desktop, connects to it with no issue, configured Ableton Live to correctly to send and receive MIDI using the TouchOSC Bridge but no midi commands from sent from my iPad using TouchOSC register in Ableton Live. I have wasted HOURS fighting with this app, did send in a contact request but as of yet no response. Even at one point installed Protokol, using the OSC protocol was able to see the midi messages being sent but STILL… no midi changes in Ableton. I WANT MY FIVE DOLLARS BACK!!!!

Needs more colour options. Great app but developer refuses to add more color options. Could do some amazing things with this platform if the dev was more responsive and accepting of user feedback.

Wow, wow, wow!. I'd looked at this app several times before, but was dissuaded from trying it by the fairly nondescript screen captures and some negative comments about people saying extra software must be purchased to make it work. But I finally bought it anyway, and was thrilled to find out my concerns were baseless. There was essentially no setup required at all, certainly no additional software was required, and right out of the box it controls virtually everything in Logic Pro 9.16 brilliantly. It both looks better and has far more capability than what I had surmised from looking at the example screens on this page. I am SO glad I finally tried this! This fantastic app will be operating my studio most of the time from here forward. What a bargain for the price!

Mac issue. Not detecting my OSC message on MAX on my laptop despite being on same WiFI network.

Can’t beat it!. This app is amazing. You should definitely have a little networking knowledge and controller mapping basic knowledge to use. But still easy enough for beginners imo. I’m a dj and use it as a basic light controller. You can design your own templates with OSC Editor. Very cool. Saved me a lot of money in the long run. This app can be used for sooooo many things.

Ditto. There’s a commonality of shared benefit in the reviews for touch osc, we all agree it’s a road tested and studio to stage ready application that just works. It’s so important for your gear to be reliable in live situations and this definitely is. Has been for years. It’s also stable and intuitive which is crucial for anything in the digital domain. You can count on it working, running light and doing what you want. That’s invaluable to me.

Pretty and configurable, but wholly non-functional. The documentation is lacking, and I was not able to get this software working with touch bridgeOSC. Couldn’t find any recent tutorials on getting this to work, either. It’s a shame because this software has so much promise and I really want to love it, but the barrier to entry is just too high to make it worth it right now

Still one of the best custom control apps. TouchOSC has been around a while, and a lot of competing apps have come along since. Yet we still use TouchOSC for straight forward and flawless app control throughout our studio. It's got a very quick learning curve, and does pretty much everything you need for streamlined studio and live control. Couldn't live without it.

Abandoned app for more cash grab!. Instead of providing existing users with an update or special price for the new version the developer just renamed it and ABANDONED existing users!

Solid app for control in ableton. I have used midi hardware for a long time, but like most rigs, hardware gets heavy to lug around to gigs. This was the best find I have ever had. Always customizing my templates to fit my style of djing in ableton made this app a no brainer. Love it, simple, straight, customizable like my current templates, made my evolution easier and lighter 😉. Great app, thank you 😊👍

Great for Hog4 virtual control!. All these people leaving 1 star ratings because they don't understand how to configure the app. SMH. Best customizable OSC app out there!

No ableton support. Ableton livecontrol straight up doesn't work anymore.

Long time user. I discovered TouchOSC a few years ago and it was a great idea with all kind of smart tablets and phones out there. I am mainly a Cubase user and tried to program this for a long time until I finally understood how it works (well, maybe 90%). I was able to make a Cubase template that is close to a hardware based surface control costing $600 and above. My template is on Steinberg’s forum site for you to check it out. Some very high end sample library companies even provide templates to be used with their software in Kontakt like Chris Heins Violins. That shows you the capabilities. Like other users here, I would like to see some visual improvements and expanded manual and some good examples. You really need to have a great imagination of what you want to achieve and the possibilities with TouchOSC but for someone who lacks the imagination they will probably pass this on. It is an essential part of my setup and highly recommend this.

Works brilliantly with Max. I use TouchOSC as a customizable interface that I can integrate into my Max patches and this update just makes it even more flexible. Thanks for an indispensable tool!

Very good program. The user can interface easily, change buttons and more. Just download the programs from the website and use them along with this tool.

Please update for iPhoneX. I would love it if this could be updated for iPhoneX, thank you!

Revised Review.... I had written I would rewrite my review if I got TouchOSC werking... I feel like a complete idiot, but here it is... TouchOSC is GREAT. Easy to use, easy to setup and SUPER responsive. I use a Novation SL MKII as my main controller, but its XY axis pad has poor sensitivity and response. I substitute it with the XY pad in TouchOSC. FANTASTIC. The phone sits nicely on my controller as well ;) The problem I had was my default Firewall settings. They were blocking the incoming messages from my phone. This is where I feel like a complete dork. A very obvious thing to check that I was overlooking. This is the one step/tip missing from the setup information on the Hexler website. This may be obvious to most, but it is best to include any and all steps in a setup guide. Once that issue was resolved, things werked flawlessly. Thanks for an awesome App/Tool. note: You need OSCulator for your phone to communicate with your computer. To get a registered copy is $20. Without registration you will have interruptions. But it is well worth the money. [this may be a duplicate review as I'm not sure if the first revision submitted correctly]

Solid, simple, reliable osc communication!. I've used this app for years and it works great!

Great bt needs more options. I using this app in my studio setup , such a great app, i want to ask developer to add more option i gui editor to make graphics more interesting like using system fonts for design and add png or jpg in interface , usb connection sometimes drops bt network is ok.

Crashing. Currently crashing on iPad Pro running iOS 13.2. I absolutely love this app and use it in all of our artist production. Super bummed that it is not stable at the moment!

My goto OSC app. This is a great app. It has consistently been updated and supported since I started using it a few years ago. Love it!

I had high hopes but it’s broken. After reading some of the reviews I had high hopes for this as a control surface on my pc for Ableton and other software. However I cannot gets the OSC portion of the software to work. Core midi works just fine, but as the editor will not sync via the bridge I’m stuck with a bunch of templates that won’t work, especially for Ableton Live. Tech support is responsive but not helping with the main issue and by the looks of it I’m far from alone in it not syncing properly via OSC. If I get resolution I’ll update my review, but for now 2 stars as at least I can use a few templates in other software.

Great app! NEEDS APPLE WATCH SUPPORT. Hey guys, I know this is a long shot and probably a lot of work, but is there any way you guys can create an Apple Watch version of this app? It would not need all the benefits that you get with the iPad or iPhone, but it'd give you the opportunity to have a couple of Buttons and maybe a slider or knob right there in your wrist ready to go! You guys and your app rocks!

Great for other MIDI control things as well. I got this app on a recommendation and I cannot be any happier. The layout builder makes this app insanely customizable while still being relatively easy to pick up. With the addition of a small freeware program from the developers website. This can be used to control ANY MIDI controlled software. Including what I use it for, stage lighting. I was in the market for a cheap DMX control solution for my high school. Q Light Controller plus this app and the MIDI Bridge means I can wirelessly control the lights from virtually anywhere on campus! It also makes programming the desk much more intuitive and who doesn't like playing with their iPad. It can also be used to control QLab for those on a Mac. All in all a great piece of software. Cheap, easy to use and very powerful.

Doesn’t work with Ableton Live :[. I haven’t been able to get the editor to sync with my iPad. About 60% of the templates that it comes with work. But if your intent is to use the “Live Control” or make your own templates, it didn’t work for me. I even checked all the forums, seems the templates for supporting live 9-10 don’t work. Too bad wanted to use this software... I guess I might have to go back to using “Touchable”. If the Devs would update the Ableton templates and fix the sync issues I will change my review. Wasted too much time I could have spent making music instead of trouble shooting abandoned-ware. Shame has potential.

Fixed Long OSC Arguments. Thank you for fixing the long OSC argument bug! This is a huge help. I do have one feature request for the future and that is the ability to send string commands. Thanks for your continued work.

Most Versatile Controller. I've used TouchOSC for some years now and it's never let me down. I've controlled all kinds of things from music to visual apps to light fixtures, from small projects to large. It's especially useful for highly personalized projects that need to be controlled with osc and or midi.

Super versatile, great app for experimenters as well as professionals.. I've been using this app since it came out. I use it to control many different hacker-y projects. If you make anything that has a network connection, you can probably use this to control it. I use this mainly with plogue bidule, but it also works with pure data, max, and many other great tools. Well done, and thanks for providing this!

worth the learning curve. I'm relatively new to midi but had been wanting to try this app out...I lucked out and won it in a palm sounds giveaway and after doing some research and subsequent tweaking I see what all the fuss is about...with a little patience and repeated use of the app you can do so much with it! It's very deep and not for people who don't know much about networks and midi or aren't willing to spend a little time learning the setup process but if you follow directions and understand the terminology it's very well worth it. I love it with logic and although I use touchable with live I think it's a cheaper (but equally powerful) ableton controller. If you're still on the fence, justify the $5 on how much you'll save by not having to buy an apc or any other hardware controller. It works very well and totally worth the price. Plus it's universal and looks killer on an iPad.

Wow.. I have never written a review before but this app deserves your full attention. Within 30 seconds of buying this app it was completely downloaded on my iPad. I had heard about it but never really looked much into it and thought I would give it a try. I'm sick of all the musical iPad apps that seem like toys, I want to use this to make music. Without having a clue how this app worked I just clicked connect to my macbook pro. Opened logic, and it worked immediately with the track I have been working on. Select individual tracks, use the mixer to adjust volumes or solo. The app will even bring up the plug in on your computer when you select it on the iPad, you can change parameters for plug-ins like compressors or whatever. All the track names were immediately in my iPad on the app, I could go on and on, just get it. It's incredible.

A funky app, but works like a charm. There was a little bit of a learning curve to set this up, but now that it is, I'm blown away by how powerful it is. I use it to control macros in Keyboard maestro with Sibelius, and to send articulation changes to Logic 10.4. If you want to send standard MIDI data over wifi or USB cable, this is your app!!

Pretty Stellar!. Great and versatile app. Could use some haptic feedback when returning values to zero - or hitting any pre-set value. Would allow less squinting to adjust some smaller dials and sliders when a finger is covering the contact point. Also pre-made templates and software translations to non-midi software like FCPX or Premiere would be valued.

I Love TouchOSC. It's an amazing useful tool for the studio and stage. I love how easy it is to program and make work for your needs!

Nice app. App is nice. But need better support. I emailed them 2 times with no response. 1 star for support. 5 stars for app

Just what I was looking for. I've looked at several iPad tools that I could use to control Logic Pro on my Macbook Pro. This one is the ticket! It does exactly what I was looking to do and more. I have complete freedom to use any instrument in my studio now with full remote control over record and playback. No more pressing start and running across the room in time for my queue to start playing. One added benefit is that I can walk around the studio and listen to my mix, and edit it using different position perspective as opposed being positioned only in one spot. Can't beat the price!! BTW, I was worried at first after reading that the setup was a bear but it took me less than a minute to set it up and probably no more than 3-4 taps on the iPad and one selection on my Mac.

Great App!. Seamless and responsive 10/10.

Almost perfect!. I use this app on a daily basis for work and live performance. It's flawless. All I would like to see now are a few new objects. Multi-xy objects and being able to add inertia to controls would be incredible.

No sysex. The lack of ability to send sysex strings makes this ap fairly useless.

Meh. Guess its just not the app for me

Fun to tinker with, possibilities are endless. I’m very amateur so my use of this app is not very complex or mind blowing. I’ve been having fun with this app on my iPad controlling softsynths on my laptop that have fiddly interfaces. The place this app outshines hardware controllers in that you can have practically unlimited configurations — something you just need 3 pages of 16 faders. I recommend reading the TouchOSC documentation on the website, it was very easy for me to install TouchOSC bridge and TouchOSC editor on my Mac. You can wirelessly send templates to your iPad from your computer, I found this especially helpful when experimenting with different controller types - if I messed it up or decided to change something it was super easy to make the change in the editor and beam that over to the iPad instantaneously. The UI/Design of the app might be something that could be touched up in a future update. I hope to have fun this with my digitakt, maybe I’ll update this review to let you know how it goes. Thank you for this app, it performs a wide range of tasks in a very utilitarian way and for a very reasonable price.

Just get it!. This has replaced the Korg Nano-Pads for me, its such a good price for what you are getting. (Think of how much it would cost to get a fully customizable touch screen interface!) I highly reccomend it to anyone, it is usefull in my home studio, but a life saver on the road.

Works a treat. Great app works just the way you want it too running on windows 7 used to control traktor and resolume makes everything so easy. Big word upto hexker excellent app

No support. No support whatsoever for pc, touchosc editor has no files in it for traktor skin or any instructions!!!!

I love it. What a fantastic app. Easy to use and performs solidly. Ive mostly been using it in conjunction with unity to control 3d game characters for a performance but I can see already how it's going to. Become a core part of how I run projection shows from now on. The range of layouts is great for most uses but better still is the fact that you can design your own and easily transfer them to the app (whilst it is is still running and in control of another program). One thing that would be a terrific addition would be some kind of input device that let you input 3 values with a single finger (like a trackball) ...maybe something like a rotary combined with an xyFAder. My fingers are too fat for the multi slider and dragging 3faders at once doesn't feel as intuitive as something like a trackball. I can't personally imagine how this might be done but you seem like pretty clever folk.

Could not get it to work. Followed all the instructions on the site exactly but despite trying all day I could not get it to work in conjunction with REAPER digital audio workstation on Windows 10. Found lots of users on REAPER's forum saying the same thing, though some had some luck by letting REAPER and Bridge OSC through the firewall. I tried this but it didn't work, so I tried turning Windows 10 Defender virus protection off as well, which is not recommended, and that finally got the app working. However, after recording a few bars of MIDI it stopped working again, so I gave up. The app looks great and it looks far more promising than any of the free ones out there, but I'll have to buy a hardware keyboard instead.

Amazing.. Great as a novelly, and really useful once you get the hang of it too. After using it for a while it becomes hard to use logic without it.

Korji Liddicut says you are awesome. Amazing app. It really was hard to set it up at first but once you got it set up it works great! It is really good that you can create your own layouts!!! Really good for programs like Traktor(which I bought it for). Really good Get it. Just get it.

Brilliant. This app is great for music production. Perfect for adjusting notes, articulation keyswitches and CCs in your favourite DAW via your iPad/iPhone. Takes a very logical approach to customising controls to your needs using the free OSC Editor. Very clear instructions on the Hexler website. Can easily be used for a mobile setup - just take your MacBook, iPad and some keys. Connects via USB or WiFi. Best solution I have found yet.

Great interface for easy control.. This is a very powerful midi controller that can run a large range of computer DAWs as well as hardware with ease. The design of the interface really makes the whole process more enjoyable, and using an iPads touch interface is really the best option for real control. This really has the scope for total control.

Works great with Logic Pro 9. This works great with Logic Pro - in fact this is how all apps should communicate with other devices (eg laptops): faultless, instantaneous. Look forward to further integration with Logic.

Must-have touch controller for iPhone/iPod touch!. Amazing little app! Very intuitive, well thought-out and easy to setup. Been using it with OSCulator on Mac for translating the OSC messages to MIDI. The free TouchOSC editor provided by Hexler allows design of custom screensets/layouts. Looking forward for the iPad version! :)

Works with Traktor. Took me about half an hour to get my head around how it all worked, set it up with OSCulator on my macbook pro, works exactly as described. Going to get myself a little wireless router to take a, no internet, network with me to gigs. Recomended application for any digital DJ with an iPhone.

Best OSC app out there for realtime OSC interfacing. I am using it with lots of other apps such as Blender and Sonic, very easy and clear to setup. The interface is customisable via the TouchOSC editor, which is really cool. Great app!

Ableton. Works great with Ableton on Windows though I could see it being a little tricky to set up if you're not Tech savvy (follow the setup guide from their website). Great that the one purchase works on both iPad and iPhone.

Set up is impossible. Like another user, I have spent hours trying to get things happening on a PC with Abelton Live. And I'm not a complete novice. There should be some moneyback option if you just can't make it go!

Amazing. Absolutely brilliant. Don't think twice, just get it!

Very quick with Logicpad mode and Reaper PC. I got it working, took me a while. Hoorah! Nice latency also.

Great controller for Visualists. This is a great controller for VJ's - easy to use, defult layouts are good but love being able to make my own. I use Touch OSC with VDMX and Quartz Composer to controll video layers, clip selection, FX, timing, etc - all from the one little controller! - Highly recommend purchasing this one! Great work Hexler.

Works Great. My favourite:)

Brilliant. The configuration screens of this app are pretty awful. But once you get past them it does its job so well I have to give it 5 stars. Responsive, smooth, simple, and gloriously useful. Tablet computers were born for this kind of thing. Some flexible generic layouts would be nice on iPad to compliment the app specific ones.

Brilliant. Great app. Extremely easy to setup (once you've got the additional free software and follow the walkthrough on the site) and really intuitive. Been messing around with it in Ableton and Reason, so far i've got had more fun with it in Ableton, but am looking forward to really pushing it within Reason. Can't wait to get my new digital desk for work so I can wonder around the room with my phone and mix accordingly. +1 to you good sir.

Brilliant. First app I ever felt compelled to write a review for, simply awesome value for money. Bought the app, downloaded the sample layouts, opened LogicPad, opened the app, it saw my Mac, synced the layout, opened Logic 9, it saw the app as an OSC controller, asked if I wanted to set it up, said OK and that was that. Anyone want to buy a cheap Behringer BCF2000 :) It really was that simple

A classic!. The swiss army knife of OSC controllers.

Best iOS midi controller to date.. You can use this with anything. The possibilities are almost endless. You can design your own midi controller lay outs to work with any DAW or VST available.

Simply phenomenal.. The only way this app could possibly get better is if it becomes able to output midi data instead of only OSC. Other than that, this app is perfect.

Awsome with Max/Msp/Jitter. If I can make one complain about this app, is that the interface is not custumisable. Other then that it is super nice. It took me a couple of minute to make all the suggested interface work with MAX. Kep on working on this apps !!!!

TouchOSC with Logic 9. Got the AC-7 and the TouchOSC. Love both. Both work well with logic 9. The AC-7 is good if you ever have a hand on a Mackie control. The TouchOSC,otoh is really intuitive and therefore is my favorite. Two big flaws for the TouchOSC though. No UNDO implementation. No compare button on the EQ page. Anyone knows how to modify the TouchOSC layout to implement these indispensable functions? Thanks in advance!

Great start. This app is a great example of how to use the multi-touch screen effectively. It doesn't try to "look" like a hardware surface, instead opting to use the space as efficiently as possible; something I really appreciate. It's also very responsive, which is among the most important aspects of a control surface in my opinion. What needs fixing: like most apps that aim to be control surfaces, when it comes to mixing the scribble strips are way too small and in the wrong place. Larger, brighter, and at the bottom of each strip is the way to go. Currently you have to really look for your tracks; when you're working on a 30-40 track project, one spends to much time banking and searching. Second issue with TouchOSC: scrubbing. I'd like to scrub the bar/measure and time indicators to move through the project. Otherwise, it's my favourite so far.

Still fantastic. I remember using this app nearly a decade ago. I downloaded it recently to use my iPhone to control buried parameters on my HX Stomp and Boss VE-500 vocal processor. I use it when setting up for a gig (to adapt to the venue). It works flawlessly with the Apple Camera Connector. The editor on Mac also works flawlessly, and transferring layouts from Mac to the iPad/iPhone takes 5 seconds over WiFi, no hassle at all, no cable needed, always works. Super customizable too. Thank you for this! Hopefully my review will help others like me who were unsure if this actually still works. If you need to control MIDI using your iPhone/iPad, it doesn’t get any simpler than this!

Amazing. With the addition o customizable layouts the best osc controller for the iPhone has just become a million times better. If you have ever wanted a touchscreen osc controller but didn't want to pay thousands of dollars for a Lemur, you need this app. Well done!!

Not working for me as it should (I think…). perhaps it's me but I got this to control Live and I can't seem to get the LiveControl to work with this. I try to download the Livecontrol for Mac and I can't get it open or running (I'm on Mountain Lion), I know that it's not this developer's fault but it is listed as a feature and isn't working. I don't exactly have all of the time necessary to build a template from scratch so right now the app is just sitting there… I love the idea but can't get it working right.

Easy and effective, perfect.. Works great! Can't wait for custom layouts.

the beat chef. the best phone / itouch app for midi musicians - no contest. not difficult to setup and now you can create custom layouts. jaws drop when i run 50 feet from the stage and control the music with my iphone. touchosc is revolutionizing the ability for djs and musicians to come up with unique and innovative ways of controlling sound and visuals in a completely custom way.

EGAD!. This is FANTASTIC. Enough said.

Useless with ableton. This is pretty useless with ableton, if you have the required technical knowledge you can get the scripts installed, but all the able support is very old and by directional views of things like clips playing aren’t really supported

If you developers read these. This version of the app is broken. This app is a 5/5 stars (which I rated the previous version), but the most recent update has stability problems and keeps on losing it's connection. It requires me to leave the control layout and re-enter to re-establish the connection with osculator quite frequently. Please fix this and touchosc will be my number one app.

Best iPad app period. The reason I bought an iPad. Simply Phenomenal

Amazing. I have my iPad hooked up with ableton live through livecontrol. Wifi sync works amazing

Very nice. You need to know a bit about network configuration but its perfect. Please update it so it can fit the new displays for the iPhone 5 etc.

Impressive... how about a monome type step sequencer, how about a hard line for non-wifi, possible?. K all great and dandy sitting in your bedroom but how about a hardline for djing that way it would be possible to use the ipad as a midi control for an ableton effects unit, or as a home base for the lovely people who don't know beat match. Also lets exceed expectations and have a nice step sequencer lay out that can do what the monome can especially in regards to the light movement with time... TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF TOUCH OSC... DO THESE THINGS AND PEOPLE WOULD BUY THIS APP FOR $20 BUCKS!!! MONEY IS GOOD FOR YOU!! PS CHECK OUT LINE 6 I THINK THEY MAKE A HARDLINE MIDI CONNECTION TO IPHONE.. THIS COULD WORK!!!! PS PS STEP UP THE GAME AND YOU GET PAID!!!!

Thank You.. TouchOSC makes me hopeful for the future of music: it's easy and inspiring. The layout editor is amazing, you can decide what faders go where, just how many toggles you want, how big you want things to be (I have clumsy fingers, this is welcome!), etc... I've been using this for a while now, and if you're considering it I'd suggest using it with OSCulator and Ableton (or whatever your performance software of choice is).

iPhone 5 Support plox!. I love this app, but having that extra screen space on my iPhone 5 is crucial. I'd like to see it updated for the iPhone 5 screen soon!

Best midi app ever. It is the best midi controller for ipad. It is super fun to custom with endless possibilities. Now, i can control plugins and instruments with a 7$ app, it is crasy ! It is the future of midi controller. Thanks for this app, i have been waiting a long time for this.

Better user guide required. Only 1 page of the 21 pages manual is talking about using the application. The iPad version has only 2 layouts and I am still looking for the Logic pd file.

optimal!. This is the best controller ever! You can build it as you want. I use it with modul8 + the UDart module for vjing and it work great!

No audiobus and no inter app audio. I don't use the computer to make music so ween I bought this I thought it would work with inter app audio or audio bus this is a waste of money if you don't use the computer. I'd like my money back since I can't use the program

Doesn't work with windows. Should have a trial app to test for functionality what a waste of my 5 bucks.

OSC!. I have a lot planned between this, my modular and installations with Renoise among others.. Renoise has that OSC / Midi internal server. Which is great. Easy to really connect. My ONLY PROBLEM as I can’t review the other release.. was thinking eh.. separate programs? Common. I mean, sure, BUT give us supporters and previous owners (& lovers) of the app a little break and I would buy it 100%.

Absolutely great app!. With great constant updates from the developer. The setup process (especially for PCs) is time consuming. This would be the only area I can think of for improvement. Otherwise really great for ableton users!

Not quite perfect yet but it's getting there. Before I explain anything, I'm rocking some not so expensive equipment here it is pc with ableton live, novation launchpad, akai LPD 8 and this app on the ipad2. First off, yes it won't work off the bat. As I found out, if your as new to the works as I am, err was, you'll be bald before you get it working. Yes I said it, bald. Either through frustrating attempts or just the sheer knowledge you have to learn to get it set up, or maybe not. To be honest. It took me three days and several web pages later to figure it out. If your new to all this then you'll have the same problem. That said and done, with the equipment listed above, I managed to get them all working. THIS APP ROCKS. My pos little studio ( to some not me ) got way sweeter when I saw all that this app can do. I don't rely too much on the launch clips on the first page but I use the mixer board and the blah blah blah. All in all, hated it at first but since it's working 100%. Almost too cheap for what it can do. It gets five stars if you noticed, because past all the frustrations to get it working, is worth it in the end and it's weight in gold.

The most mature iOS control surface. TouchOSC may not be as flashy as Konkreet Performer but it's arguably more useful and has more features. The layout editor runs great and transferring new layouts to the iPad from the editor is a breeze. Setting TouchOSC up to work with Reaktor running on my Mac was quick and painless. Even creating new layouts from scratch was fast and intuitive. If you're using programs that support OSC then buying this is a no brainer. Keep in mind that the iPhone scale layouts won't load on iPad and vice versa.

Difficulty connecting to Mac/Mainstage. I found the process getting Touch OSC to work with my Mac running Mainstage very challenging and took many steps including downloading 2 other apps on my Mac to make it work. Even then it only worked 1/2 of the time and was always quite the process to get Touch OSC to connect with Mainstage on my Mac.

noo. it doesnt connect to my wifi, runnin it from an iphone 3g 8g. i tried everything it just doesnt work, and this problem has happend with many ppl not just me. read the blogs...

The future is here!. Another proof of just how incredible the iPad is for music. TouchOSC is years ahead, fully customizable, open source marvel of an app. It does everything it claims and more. It took me second to set up with the iMac. Now I can control Traktor wirelessly (wifi) from the iPad. Templates are made available for the app but you can find some for free online or even create your own depending of your needs.

Support. I tried to contact support for this app by several emails and Facebook with no luck, no response from customer services with TouchOSC and live 9 problem. For that reason i could recommend that no one purchase this app for the lack of support.

Great app. Bought this app to use in my live set. Really enjoy how easy it is to custom design layouts and sync over to the ipad. However for windows users it can take some time to setup, as the developer website lacks instructions. I am using this app with ableton live, it works nice. The odd time some rotary knobsneed to sync up again to use them. Ive also run into issues with toggle buttons not properly midi mapping. Its a really fun app to use especially for the price, definetley great if you want to custom design your own controller. I am satisfied with the app.

I must be stupid... this is impossible to figure out .... and I work with computer systems everyday. It's my career and I'm good at it. I can't get this MF figured out to save my life and i'm frustrated beyond frustrated.

Seem to works well. [Edit from a previous] It seems to works now. I can now connect to Logic pro and made some change from my iPhone. There is some latency in the connection, but I will make some further tests. So, I change from 1 star to 4. Good job, thanks,

The future of music production. You heard it here first: this is the beginning of the end for custom hardware interfaces. Launchpad? No thanks. BCF/BCR? Nope, don't need those any more. In fact, this one app replaces about $500 worth of hardware in my studio, instantly obsolete. This app is a must-have for the serious Ableton user... Slick, simple, and effective. I've been waiting for exactly this for years. Highly recommended.

Works well - needs to be easier to customize. The editor program runs on a computer and needs Java6. The editor needs to be re- released with more recent Java.

Much better tha props Figure!. Paired with retouch and 3rd party midi app on your computer is a bit of a challenge. But when you get it going "pow" it's Figure unboxed! It's a Reason controller!! Needs a bit more work in some controls ie nxxt, and tempo control.

Most wonderful osc app here. This app worth 100 times the .99cents. I use this app combined with osculator, to interact with modul8 so it make the trip 100 times better! in other way, it's really like using the respected but expensive jazzmutant interface, but without the great feature of a customizable interface (& on a more restreint area, of course). But seriously a cool app, for vjs.. keep working on it to develop extra features

Awesome. There are only a few apps that are worth 5 stars and this one is surpassing them all. Easy to use, easy to customize and quite responsive. I am using it with Ableton live, Reason, Traktor, reaktor, and each day I find new way to use it as a producing or djing tool. Only con, there are no infinite rotary to use as a jogwheel.

Fully customizable!. If you use this with the TouchOSC Editor it becomes... whatever you want!!! I now use it to control Traktor Pro in replacement of a 350$ hardware controller. I am looking forward to creating a new designs for Ableton Live now, 16-pad and synth controller.

Mind Blowing. I've sold all my midi hardware; for both Traktor and Logic, it is the slickest interface and easiest to customize. 5.5 stars

Hooray.. Well you won't get any developer response but when you eventually get this working you will be excited. So now I don't care I'm just happy to not be frustrated. and latency seems pretty good. Firewalls will stop this from functioning. FYI. :)

Ok.... Good app but needs stronger connection... I'm having latency and drop out problems... But when it works, it works well.

Simply Brilliant!. Oh! I am in love! Lol. I've only had this for two days and already I'm overflowing with ideas on how to use this app. I did purchase the osculator software. I had to use some sort of translation app. But it is SO WORTH IT! Best 20 bucks I've spent in a long time. So far I've created a few custom presets with the free editor. Takes a little trial and error. I just looked at the templates that came with Touch and compared to my custom settings to see if I was doing it right. So far I'm using it to control visuals and trigger samples simultaneously. (Arkaos VJ and Ableton live via rewire.) My custom layout has four pages with 22 note buttons on each page = 88 keys. More than enough. Love this app.

Good as it gets. Why spend buku bucks on a lemur when you can use your current phone or tablet? I've bought this on google play and the App Store and I still feel like I'm getting it for too cheap. The idea of making your own controller was something I always wanted and now that I can do that for $5 without even taking up a USB port in the studio I'm blown away. Whenever I have someone over to collaborate on a track I just hand them a tablet so we don't have to switch seats all the time to get ideas in. This app has saved me tons of time and money!

Once you figure out how to set up it, this thing is great!. I had to use OSCulator to get TouchOSC to control Ableton Live 8, which took a little while (a few hours) to figure out how to set up. Once I got it working, I am blown away by how awesome this is! Setting it up with Traktor Pro 2 was much easier and worked with TouchOSC bridge right away (I had kind of figured things out by then). This is not for beginners who don't read the manual. If it's not working, you're not doing it right.

Really Good Program - But...!. There is one thing missing. I want to be able to connect my iPhone to a USB and still be able to use this software. So far you can only use it via WIFI and I would like to also use it via USB as well. I love this software, and I am even tempted to buy the iPAD just so I can use this software along with my Protools v8.0.3cs1, Reason v4.1 and Record v1.0 and Ableton Suite v8.1.1 This is an exact duplicate of the famous "Lemur" unit. And if I get the iPAD and install this software, I save myself over $1,500 dollars. I wish you guys made an actual level meter so we can also use this to know how our complete main stereo mix is by connecting a cable connection to the iPhone. The iPhone would be able to do a very detailed level meters from 20Hz to 20kHz span metering. Also in the "editor" program, when user switches to landscape. the actual black box should also change to landscape view. intead of staying the same orientation it should switch to landscape view as well. Would make it easier to work with and edit the editor program for this.

Powerful but clunky. Imagine all the power and possibility of Mainstage and Reaktor, running on a gasoline pump display. A much-improved setup tutorial would go a long way to helping non programmers unlock the obviously great potential of this app. The current operation manual is more a list of fragmented info-bits than it is an actual setup guide. I've been doing MIDI since the 80's, and to me, this app is a bear. You have to poke about in several different apps to get it happening, using your own midi and networking skills. When you do finally get it to talk to your DAW, it has a distinctly "tweaker" feel, jittery, and feels not ready for mission critical work, I wouldn't count on using this on a paid session til long after you buy it, but there's an absolute ton of potential that I hope the devs make more accessible in the GUI. 4 stars for bang/buck, the super-cool Tron theme of the app, and because I love supporting small Music software companies. :) Not giving up, but hoping the time pays off.

Outstanding. Connects instantly to Logic Pro 9, then works an absolute treat. Everything you'd want it to do, it does. Multitouch faders, deep control of soft instruments, swipe across the 'desk' to mute or solo lots of adjacent channels (just like your Daddy's SSL!) and a gorgeous and incredibly straightforward channel strip with same-screen plug-in access. So, so, so good. Out of the box, it's perfect. Then you start making your own templates... It's like I'm making music in the future! I love this so much that I'm selling my 'indispensable' $1,400 Euphonix Control. It's more functional, usable, attractive and stable than any other piece of music tech I've ever bought, all of which cost hundreds of times as much as this. Revolutionary.

Beware Logic Pro People. I was really hoping this was the answer to my workflow customization but it isn't and I don't think it's the fault of the developer either. This application does not offer the flexibility and customization that it implies it offers. We are stuck with whatever Apple decided to give us. I have written Apple to figure out how to increase the functionality of the Logic plugin that makes this work and I was told that we have to agree to a nondisclosure. It seems we would have to program some kind of extension for Logic but there isn't any information about it so your guess will be as good as mine. I agreed to sign an NDC and I haven't heard back from them since. It is an awesome application for what it is (a wireless controller for specific functions). I was just thinking it was something else (a customizable interface).

Simply great software. This will turn your iOS device into a legitimate midi controller for apps like Ableton Live. I connect to my laptop through WIFI using the OSCulator app on my desktop, which converts the app into usable MIDI CC messages. Great for impressing the crowd on-stage using WIFI for a wireless midi controller. Believe me, this is a gold mine waiting to be tapped. Get this. I've had this app for years and it's delivered 100% in terms of stability and usability. Cheers to the developers, thanks for a great product.

Wonderful app! Had one minor problem with app. NOTE: IF YOU PLAN TO USE THIS WITH LOGIC STUDIO, *DO NOT* BUY OSCULATOR AT FIRST! I made the mistake of buying both at the same time. TouchOSC works w/o Osculator, however if you do encounter problems then buy it too! I love this app with Logic Studio.. Wow! The controls are solid, and the GUI is GORGEOUS! I've had a few problem encounters were all levels/controls seem to become null; this could just be a problem with communication b/w Logic and TouchOSC. Closing and reopening TouchOSC seems to work through that though.

Wonderful app. The app itself is great. The editor is sort of a pain, though. I find it easier to edit the layouts by hand in a text editor. This allows me to design layouts using scripts. The layout files are gzip compressed XML files. They are relatively easy to edit this way. No more editing the properties of multi-faders one variable at a time. Hey, TouchOSC guys, if you are reading these reviews... Add the ability to edit controls in a table view instead of having to look at/edit one variable at a time. You should be able to see all variables at the same time and edit them like you would a spreadsheet. Another neat feature would be the ability to change the layout of part of a screen or have something like a pop-up window. Macros. The ability to receive MIDI time codes and synchronize stuff with them. At least have the ability to trigger multiple midi commands from one control. User definable colors... Daytime mode... Keep up the good work!

Now with MIDI.... Incredible!!!!. Had this for a while but didn't turn me on because it did not do midi. Now it does and it does it well. I gave another midi control surface app an earnest try but found myself often frustrated with it. After using the midi-enabled touch osc for a while i can tell you it rocks. I'm emulating a Mackie control surface on one tab and setting up custom layouts on others. So far working better than expected. There is a lot of room for additional midi functionality and I truly hope the developer is planning on expanding the midi feature set.

Good video available showing off TouchOSC. There's a video on Vimeo by chromedecay (not sure if reviews can contain links, but search for chromedecay touchosc ableton bigseq at Vimeo) showing TouchOSC controlling Ableton Live and BigSeq (an Audio Damage plugin) via OSCulator. It gives you a good demonstration of one application of TouchOSC and its potential. After watching the video, I came straight here to buy it. As mentioned elsewhere you'll probably need OSCulator to link TouchOSC to your preferred MIDI app (that's my next stop).

Wow!. I don't write reviews, but this is worthy of an exception. This is the most amazing thing I've seen on the iPad. Start Logic Pro, start TouchOSC, go to the configure screen and select the computer from the menu, and it just works. You can control almost every switch, slider, and even menu in Logic from TouchOSC, all labeled to match the Mac screen, very low latency (be sure to quit CPU-greedy Mac apps). Adds to the usability of Logic far in excess of its price.

Great App!. I'm not sure why the others had issues with this, all the required software is on the developers site. I downloaded this app because I needed a custom midi mapping tool for our praise and worship band. After downloading, I went to the developers site for the manual and found the other two pieces of software needed on my Mac to make it work (TouchOSC Bridge and TouchOSC Editor). I spent a grand total of three hours on it and now have a totally customized controller designed for what I needed. I can see that I will be creating many more templates!

Awesome!!. I opened up Logic, went to control surfaces in the main DAW menu, then tapped on the touch OSC app on my iPad, and clicked on my Mac Pro network. Logic immediately found then device, and now it works like a charm!! This was easy to set up, and really useful for session work!!!! For the ability this prog provides, it is a good value @ $5. I wish I were this thrilled about all of the apps I've purchased. My hope is that these guys keep pushing the envelope on the interface. More graphics (perhaps plugin skins) would be a pretty awesome feature. A+!

set up, etc.. i imagine set up would be difficult for people not accustomed to mucking around in network settings and this sort of thing. i found it fairly straight forward by following the instructions on the website. with the iPad Logic Remote as an easy alternative, i imagine these developers of TouchOSC will have to up their game though. given the price and the potential (i see this as having great potential, not unlike Logic Remote), this gets 4 stars. make switching to new preset layouts easier and provide more explicit videos for set up, and i will be forced to give this app 6 stars. ok, not possible, but you know what i am saying.

Great controller. TouchOSC changed the way I work in my DAW. Quick, easy, lots of temples online for different programs if u don't want to take the time to customize yourself. To everyone who is upset about their "sound not working", you all are fools. This is a controller not an instrument. Not sounds are made from this app. You use the app to trigger sounds in a DAW of your choice on your computer over WIFI. Do search before you demand your money back.

READ the description before embarrassing yourself. People, it's called "making an informed decision." If your first impulse is to buy without researching, then it's on you. TouchOSC is a GREAT, reasonably priced controller to use with other computer based programs. I use it frequently with my iPhone 4S + Ableton Live 8 + MacBook Pro. It's dependable and fun to use. Yes, it takes time to figure out how to get it connected, but once it does, it opens up a whole new set of possibilities for controlling your DAW. If you're ready for customized layouts for controlling your software and willing to put in a tiny bit of work, then this app's for you.

This will be an awesome app once I get it setup.. Unless your pretty computer and network savvy or until this hexler writes more detailed instructions on how to set this up for everyone else I wouldn't buy it. I don't get these programers they can come up with such a genius idea but lack the common sense to realize that the average user, (Whose buy's their apps) doesn't have a degree in computer science. Beautiful interface but I'm given it a 3 because there are other apps that do the same that are cheaper and easier to setup. Twice as many people would buy this app if their was a walkthrough video or a better pdf.

Amazing Pro Music Interface Software. You have made for $5 what I've wanted for years - a remote control surface w/o wires for my DAW. And it works! You are ahead of the curve with this one! This is visionary work. Props -- - TouchOSC app is beautiful. - TouchOSC app works (!!!) - app is visionary & far ahead of 99% of app store apps - TouchOSC app provides the functionality of very expensive devices (midi control surfaces) over wifi (*awesome) that users can custom build (*awesome) w/o getting a PHD in computer science - could def use TouchOSC on pro gigs - handy as a tool for all kinds of work (video, audio, lighting, etc) I had no problems getting this to work on my PC, but it was not 'point & click' & go. I read instructions, watched a 'how to' video (and was 'wow'ed), and installed MidiYoke & PureData on PC. Up & running in 15 min's! Keep up the great work! rekzkarz PS: First time I've wanted an iPad bc I could fit more controls on bigger surface! Can work even more like a Lemur or various pro midi surfaces on iPad.

Amazing!. For $5 i have replaced most of my midi controllers. Such an incredible app. I use it for traktor. Feels great to use my fingers onscreen instead of clicking one item at a time with a mouse. I set cue points much more quickly and efficiently. Make sure to check out different templates online for different applications, especially if you are awful at designing your own templates (like myself).Use the developers website if you are confused about installation. I will admit that the installation is a bit complex, involving about 3 different downloads, but once you get this properly working you will be amazed.

awesome app!. once you download the 3rd party softwares you need to get midi talking on PC you will be amazed at how this program works! You are able to create mulitple custom interfaces and use it as a midi controller and it is soo much fun! The program still has a few minor bugs i have noticed, (in the "touchosc editor" it sometimes assigns the same midi signal to the buttons) and (in touchosc on the ipad sometimes when I press a button it will stick down after i had pressed it.) This app is almost perfect ;)

My favorite iPhone app!. TouchOSC + Ableton + OSCulator = wireless mixing in the studio and stage (with synced controls)!!! I use Ableton as my live mixing console and have tried different controllers. Problems: 1. Expensive for anything the works (only motorized faders or rotary encoders allow you to stay synced with your software), 2. You're tethered to your computer/power outlet, 3. Bulky and cumbersome, 4. Functionality is fixed in time - no software update to give you another 6 banks of 8 faders. Compare that to pulling your phone out of your pocket, walking around anywhere in the room, adjusting levels, etc! My sound guy is so incredibly discrete, you'd think he was just some dude sending a text message! Totally revolutionary.

Fantastic alternative controller. 4 out of 5 stars as its not an app that is easy to learn. But, if you're into controllers for your DAW or music production utilizing OSC, this is a no brainer. The site's documentation is pretty well laid out. The app has a lot of feature, just not as pretty as the bells and whistles you might get with a more polished app. But I kinda prefer the stripped down approach to the interface – keeps you focused on the task at hand instead of just being pretty graphics. I use this app in conjunction with Logic 9 Pro, Reason and Reaper.

Good, One thing though.. When I first got this app, it confused me on how I could route it to ableton. Then I discovered OSCulator. It lets you route OSC signals to midi notes and such. It works great. The only thing I think this app needs is a layout editor within. The app. The one on the computer is great, but you can't use it on the go. I think it would be awesome to have a layout editor for the mobile versions. It would make the 4.99 I spent even more worth it.

Awesome, but you do have to pay some $ and do some work to get it going.... Excellent, customizable control of programs. This program produces control messages via OSC. It does not make sound or do anything on its own. Most computer programs use MIDI, and you will have to purchase and configure 3rd party software in order to use TouchOsc with Live, etc... Unfortunatley, this 3rd party software costs upwards of $40... On the plus side, the developer provides tutorials on their site, as well as a free layout editor for Mac or PC. A low cost, easy to use computer host program that translates to/from midi would make this a 5-star App!

Used with ReTouch Control + Reason 6.0 = AWESOME!!!. Bought Touch OSC as a needed utility for ReTouch Control templates and their Max App for controlling Reason. A few setup hiccups but once I got an Ad-Hoc connection setup between my iPad and my PC everything was right as rain! Now the review: this feels like holding the future incarnate in your hands - it simply ROCKS!! I enjoy the Tron-inspired GUI (though many may find it hokey). Latency for real-time performance is too high, but I fear thus may be a problem of connecting it via WiFi at the moment. For all the techies out there, I estimate latency to be somewhere around 20 ms. So for controlling your transport and doing mix downs, it's invaluable - but for real-time performances you might find it problematic. Still - there is no other virtual MIDI controller of its versatility and caliber save for Lemur, and Touch OSC + ReTouch Control is much less expensive (though if you're on 64-bit Windows, the cost of ownership does get pretty close to Lemur). Overall I highly recommend this app for musicians who need to control their DAW's or for limited performing (see: latency).

Nice, Intuitive and just plan works.. I love this app. Allows me to create control surfaces for my reason rack, I use AC-7 for my mixer surface and multitask touchosc for other controls mainly reason gear. I had no issues setting this up with Logic Pro 9 and I didn't even need to install an OSC server logic just recognized it and bam it worked. I give mad props to the Dev's for creating such a flexible system I'm mobile and with my iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro there is nothing I cannot do sitting in a cafe in the middle of nowhere.

Amazing!. What can I say? This app is simply amazing ... especially if you're a DJ. Upon discovering this app I was a little skeptical, however, after doing some searching on the web, I found that there was a great support community out there and saw examples of people using it. So I purchased it and decided to give it a whirl! Man, am I glad I purchased it! Not only do I love the fact that I can build my own template, but that there's a wealth of templates out there that other people have built. I recently used Touch OSC as a controller for Traktor Pro at a live gig and it was amazing. No lag nothing worked perfectly. So far I only use it with Traktor Pro, so I cannot speak about how it would work with other application, but with Traktor it's been great. A word of advice when setting this up for live use (or even at home), a peer-to-peer wireless network is the way to go! Great app ... well worth the purchase!

Easy and stable. Never had any problems after quite a bit of use. It will do OSC and Midi, so you can couple it with OSC software like Osculator, but you don't have to. Easy to set up. Open up the midi bridge app on your computer, and put the two devices on the same wifi network. If you want to do it the complicated way, the app allows for that as well (it supports multiple protocols for connecting it to your computer; the updates have made it progressively easier). Very useful In functionality! I use it for mixing, triggering a beat repeat, and transport control in Reason. I've made several of my own templates using the desktop design app- also easy to use. Allows you to be meticulous, if you choose. I've only really used this with reason, so I can't comment on using it with other software or seeing any visual feedback in this app. I would like to see buttons and faders light up/move in touchosc as I move them in my computer, but I'm not sure how to make that happen. Not much else to it. Create a layout that is right for you, and the rest is in user operation or external software.

Game changer app!!. This app is perfect for what I do. This is basically the midi touch controller I was looking for. To make it work with midi, I recommend OSCulator. Very easy to work with if you know how to work with ableton, and the app itself is fully customizable with the touchosc editor. And if you are having problems with your wifi network, let me tell you a solution: create an ad-hoc network with your laptop or computer and connect your IPhone iPad or whatever to that network. You can use this wherever you go!

Perfect control surface for Ableton Live. If you own Ableton Live and an iPad, this app should be the very next thing you get. Combine TouchOSC with a free DAW-side app called LiveControl and you will be able to achieve instant display feedback and AMAZING control surface support. I rarely use my APC40 or my Nocturn to control Live any more; TouchOSC (talking to LiveControl + Live) actually LABELS all of your tracks, clips, devices, and device parameters and COLORS the clip slots. Think about that, and consider what a JazzMutant Lemur costs.

Awesome=5 stars. I use TouchOSC with Ableton via OSCulator and I'm thoroughly impressed and satisfied. I got to whip out my phone for a show and control my computer via private network flawlessly. Also, if you are using an iSomething that has an accelerometer, you can also utilize that functionality to control values on your DAW. Super fun, super customizable, super worth it. And the new update has a double-tap lock so you don't accidentally switch layouts. Brilliant. Thank you, Hexler!

Great!. For those complain that this "doesn't work" you obviously don't understand open sound control. THIS IS NOT A MIDI CONTROLLER... but can be used to control midi. It is far more open, flexible and powerful then midi. OSC sends out raw data, 0 - 1 as opposed to midi which is limited to a range of 0 -127 (not considering ccs). Must have for anyone programming with max/map/jitter, supercollider, pure data, chucK, csound ect. I would also highly recommend mrmr which is even more flexible and totally free.

Not bad for the money, but seems limited in application. I was hoping to use this with Live, as a remote fader control. and yes, it does work there, with the OSCulator bridge. I was hoping to control more than a couple of tracks, though, and perhaps later versions will allow control of sends, panning, stuff like that, or at least the possibility to create my own maps. This one seems a bit light on features compared to other applications (I've also tried iTouchMidi and iTouchMidi MCU, and in my opinion, MCU is a bit more feature-rich for the same amount of money).

Absolutely awesome. I've never been able to lay tracks out as fast as i can with touchosc, and i can do it in any room of my house! Using primarily with ableton and it works incredibly well with that interface but it's very functional with logic too. Don't listen to these reviews from people who can't get it to work, hexler's website has links that are easy enough to follow. Midiyoke and puredata on pc are free so you don't have to pay, osculator is worth the $20 if you have a mac. As easy as any typical mac program. I highly recommend this. There's midi controllers that cost more than an iphone that can't do what this thing can, get it!

A major leap. Well, all I can say is I am impressed. You had a good interface with the editor to start with, and with the update to touchosc and logic, you have hit it out of the ballpark. This app is probably one of the best deals on the market now, with it's new abilities. The only thing I have to say negative is what am i going to do with Osculator now I don't need it? I guess i should blame apple for that. :) I would highly recommend this to anyone using logic that is looking for a great control surface. it would be great to see more custom interfaces for plugins, i don't mind using rotaries all the time, but if it could match the interface of the plugins, that would be even better. but don't let that turn you away, this is a phenomenal app that really shows what the ipad is capable of and i couldn't ask for more.

The Lemur killer is here!. This is a fantastic little app. In a couple hours I was able to make a custom layout with the editor and get it controlling Alchemy in Logic. Spent a lot of time playing around with the mapped xy controllers and remix pad in Alchemy ... great fun!! Made a little 2 octave keyboard; multi-touch works great; can do chords and 3 xy controllers all at once! Now I just need more fingers ... Be aware though that you must buy Osculator to make this app work; minimum $19 donation ware. But cheap at that price for the capabilities. The iPad glass feels so sensual and responsive as a controller! Also be sure to get the touch osc editor (free). I'm really looking forward to seeing where this app goes. Maybe some tools for more custom controls and layouts? Many thanks to the devs!

Great App. This is a great app. It does what it claims and does it well. Set up for controlling Logic and REAPER was almost automatic and the controls are very smooth and responsive. Compared to Mrmr, the set up is a breeze. Addressing a few concerns by other reviewers: 1. you do not need Osculator. 2. If you are not getting through or the changes in the app are not showing on your iPad, you have a port problem. Initially, I was getting no feedback from Logic using the built-in patch LogicPad. Turns out a program was blocking the outgoing communication on port 7001 -- the port to send OSC to the iPad. Opening the port solves the problem. Check your firewall if you have issues and if you use Little Snitch, create a rule to allow 'any' to communicate using the port you specify in TouchOSC. My only complaint is the lack of any sort of VU meter in the Logic patches. Setting levels is easy enough, but without some visual feedback, you can't tell if your levels are okay unless you are looking at your computer screen.

Game Changer. Had some difficulty with the initial set-up then tried OSCulator and it all quickly fell into place. Connecting seamlessly to Cubase 5 on my Mac Pro. The editor is very intuitive and fast to work with. Currently laying out fader sliders, solo and mute buttons, rotary knobs for compression, eq, and effects sends, a personalized transport bar, anything and everything I've ever dreamed of in a controller is now mine all mine. Can't wait to put together some x-y sliders for my synths. Endless possibilities.

Love it. This app is for controlling music creation software and musical instrument software like synthesizers, drum kits and pianos etc. over a wifi network! You can also edit and create your own interface for your favorite midi controlled digital instrument. Or you can use it as an interface for software guitar fx via midi. Just follow the guide on their web site, took me 5 minutes to connect to the puredata software on my Mac. Then use the editor software to get creative. There's a couple preset templates to. I use it with Massive and Korg's M1 software with the standalone TouchOSC bridge software.

Perfection on certain machines. Amazing app. Works flawlessly with my Mac Pro tower running Logic Pro 9.1.2 and Snow Leopard. But doesn't work with my MacBook Pro properly for some reason. It starts out working, then slows to a crawl and becomes unresponsive. On the Mac Pro however, it's completely amazing. It even re-connects perfectly after leaving the app on my iPad, and there is barely any lag whatsoever over my Airport N speed wireless network. It's a perfect two way connection that even displays the track names. When your on the Channel Strip page for example, you can instantly access any plug-in and ALL of it's parameters, all with their names and in their current value. If you have any interest in a logic control surface buy this, but be aware it might not work on your system right now.

Best app I've ever used!. I've never reviewed an iPhone app before, but I feel compelled to do so for touchosc. It is a game-changing app. Like having a wireless jazzmutant lemur in your pocket, for five bucks. Within a couple hours, I was up and running with my own custom layout. It's a beast to set up (with required third-party support software). But the hassle of setup is totally worth it. Flawless operation, beautiful interface. Just wow.

CANNOT BELIEVE. How many different parameters are Premapped for Ableton with LiveControl. Configuration is simple and takes only seconds. Works perfectly using Iphone 4s to control Ableton Live 9 suite(9.1 and beta) running Vista on a Dell Inspiron 1525 over Ad-Hoc. Installing Loopbe1 worked instantly to get TouchOSC pads and keys to send midi (could Not get PureData, Midi Yoke, or the osc bridge to work for me). Tested by controlling tracks in 2nd floor bedroom studio while walking down to 1st floor kitchen and back. No Noticable lag or dropout anywhere. Now I need an iPad.

mind-blowing. I bought this app primarily to control Propellerhead Reason. I quickly realized that there are no built-in templates for Reason, and to create them myself would require an exorbitant amount of time and effort. Then I found a separate product called RetouchDuo which is specifically made for TouchOSC and Reason. Though it's $45 it's absolutely worth it. The amount or control and live feedback that you get with it is more powerful than midi controllers I've seen that cost way more. It would be nice if TouchOSC included these templates, so I almost gave it 4 stars. But I am so impressed I'm leaving it at 5 for now.

A great controller. I got this app as a filler for me until my new four channel mixer came in. I must say that I was surprised by its intuitiveness. You do need to edit the controllers on a computer, but I always have mine with me so that is not a problem. I really like how customizable it is; with as many midi senders as you can handle. This app is great for music. I even set up an iTunes controller by downloading a MIDI to keystroke converter and use buttons on TouchOSC to controller the key combinations in iTunes. This app is well worth the price if you know how to use it. There is a little bit of a learning curve because you need to program the actual MIDI message on the computer editor. It only took minutes from downloading everything to controlling FL studios. Personally a great app.

Reactor setup?. Okay, I haven't bought the app yet, but I will as soon as someone could perhaps tell me how well this will let me control Reactor, specifically the synth Gaugear. I love using the XY in Gaugear, but would love to have touch control via the iPhone. Looks like a GREAT app, though, and I can't wait to try it. I'm on a PC if that makes a difference. UPDATE - I bought the app and love it. After carefully following some online directions I've been able to connect it to Reactor with few problems. I've also finally gotten into how Reactor works thanks to this setup. I still haven't gotten Gaugear to work perfectly, but i'm still working on it. Right now I have it controlling some beats in GoBox, controlling it from across the room. VERY cool. I can't wait to delve deeper into this.

Awesome. I,m running Win7 with Cubase 5. I was ready to spend hundreds of dollars on Steinberg,s CMC hardware controllers when I came across this app. Although it took some effort and comprehension I have it working perfectly. Don't blame the developer for the difficulty in setting it up. They provide clear instructions on there website. The developer also includes a MIDI bridge and an editor for free on their website. The bridge acts as a virtual MIDI port on your PC or MAC. The editor allows you to build any type of screen you can imagine to control your DAW. When you consider what's involved to communicate MIDI signals from your iPad over WIFI, then to your computer, and then in turn to your DAW, it's a miracle for electronic music enthusiasts, and professionals.

Please update!!. I use this app regularly, as I like the minimalist design over Lemur's GUI. When it works, it works ok. Initial setup was kind of a pain to get it to control Ableton...had to piece together info from some outdated tutorials on YouTube...find the legacy version of the original LiveControl from Liine (LiveControl 2 will not work here!!! Wish it would...)...and hope that it won't freeze up on me while using it on my iPad Air. The main problem I have with it is that I'm unable to multitask while running LiveControl on it -- jumping over to other music apps and then back causes it to freeze up / become unresponsive, where I have to shut it down, relaunch and reconnect with my desktop. So...I have to have a dedicated iPad just for running this (with no multitasking), and another for running other music apps. PLEASE INCLUDE "RUN IN BACKGROUND" IN FUTURE UPDATE!! Lemur has that... It's been over a year since the last update. Until I feel the developer isn't abandoning this and will start addressing issues and start implementing new improvements....1 star from me. Other than "Run in Background", I would request a larger color palette or color wheel in the editor for custom colors. As well as updated / improved continuity in connecting TouchOSC with Ableton...if possible, adding compatibility with LiveControl 2. Please! I'm hopeful for this app yet...

If it was 4x the price, I'd still be worth it. If the iPad only ran this program, it'd still be worth the $500. It's $1000 less than a Jazz Mutant Lemur with essentially the same features. I used the iPhone version and when the iPad came out it was a free upgrade. The desktop editor makes it easy to create almost any layout that you need for audio and video performance and production.
