Logic Pro for iPad Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Please Fix this 😭. I was so excited to use Logic Pro on my iPad, I’ve been waiting for this for a few years now. I plugged in my interface to record some audio and logic is not receiving any audio. My interface is powered and logic recognizes my interface and all of its inputs/outputs, but it will not receive any sound. My interface is receiving sound because I can see the green light on the gain knob. To make matters more confusing, I am able to get sound in other applications like voice memos and n track. I am also able to send audio from my iPad to my interface and out to my speakers. I am so frustrated and confused someone please help fix this issue.

Swing and a miss… again….. Let me make sure I understand. Pay full price to Have Logic Pro on a desktop. In order to “integrate” with that desktop software, I have to pay $50 a year to rent access to the Pro app I’ve already paid for. Then when I install the app and run it while my iPad is connected to a docking station that has an HDMI port… The app can run on the external screen… But NOT in full screen. A PRO app CAN NOT run in FULL SCREEN? And the better part Is that audio is routed through HDMI regardless of anything else… So when the screen does not have an audio port for speakers to connect to…. You CAN’T HEAR THE OUTPUT OF AN AUDIO APP…. It’s not like 12” iPad Pros have built in speakers, right? Do you have someone at Apple whose job requires them to come up with creative ways to enrage loyal customers? You charge for me to rent use of a Pro app… That doesn’t work full screen and doesn’t have a way to provide audio when an external screen is connected… Unless speakers are connect to that screen too? And this is “PRO”? Your developers conference better have the new version iPadOS getting some sort of audio routing control at the OS level… Who am I kidding? When has Apple ever listened, much less, to a customer? Luckily I can cancel this version of GrageBand Pro

Seems Alright, but it isn’t ready for prime time. Only accepts iPad AU plugins, which is fine, but it is really frustrating that this can’t scale to full screen when docked with a computer. It would be nice to get a little bit more real estate with a computer screen without and use the full screen. It seems like an unnecessary bottleneck to a creative process. I’d stick with the Mac one if that bugs you, otherwise it is not bad, and is much better than any other iPad DAW as far as I can tell, but still, with the power the iPads have now, I didn’t expect these unnecessary limitations.

Great start but many things to do. Thanks for finally get logic to iPad! It’s really great but there is already some things that I personally missed: 1) master volume slider at the top (even GarageBand has it) it’s inconvenient to change device volume with physical buttons 2) adding text notes - simple thing to implement and really helpful so that I should not switch between Notes app and logic 3) missing Score view in midi regions - in desktop it was very helpful 4) Surround and Atmos support((( - almost all of my desktop projects came with atmos and surround and I can’t open them on iPad at all… And I really want to make new songs in atmos on iPad 5) Comping for audio - yes I can manage takes some way but comping will be much MUCH easier 6) For some synths interface is overloaded with too many knobs and sliders that don’t distinct one from another 7) MPE midi parameters editing - now its only simple volume etc but not slide glide after touch and so on Thanks again for great app! Definitely subscribe and hope to see more sounds and functionality in future

Lack of External MIDI Device Playback. Logic Pro is hands down the best for Production/Editing/Recording. However, using Logic to run Live Playback is another popular use case. Many bands/artists are already using iOS devices for controlling their Mixers & IEM rigs. The fact that Logic Pro for iPad does not include the support for External MIDI Playback is a hard stop for many artists to use their iPad as their playback Source. Would love to see some updates that add useful features for Playback. The iPad is a wonderful tool in live music production, would love to see software features that support live performance. (An update to MainStage could also be great, add MIDI CC patch change support, DMX Light Programming)

I love it read this developers. I love this app is amazing but there are some things to be improved in order to pay monthly like more sounds presets, I don’t care too much about samples because I can add my samples through files but we need more sounds for alchemy. Please add more sounds presets like those in Spire by Reveal Sound and Serum. Please add a multiband compressor for mastering like Sonible plugins or the multiband like Fabfilter. Also if you can make it more easy to copy and paste, maybe if you can hold with one finger and drop a sample with the other finger so you can clone or copy paste a sample that would be amazing. Other than that the app is great and I love that is doesn’t load CPU that much as my MacBook. But please give us more sounds presets I would even pay more for membership

Brilliant! A Dream Come True!!!. For the joy of music. This is truly a dream come true for me. I am all about the experience when it comes to making music. This is tech that intuitively does the job without breaking my groove or taking my focus away from the creative process. I have waited a long time for this and I am very grateful for the good people at Apple that have poured their passion into this creative tool for musicians. Your contribution matters in this world. Keep up the good work!

Game Changer!. I’m an audio engineer and a Logic Pro lifer. I use Logic Pro everyday and I took the news of this release with a healthy dose of skepticism. I wasn’t immediately sure how the user interface would translate and had my doubts about a DAW in an iPad. Fifteen minutes of poking around the app and those doubts have been put to rest. This thing is amazing! Automation is an absolute breeze ( especially with a stylus). Surgical cuts and leveling can be a bear to do with a mouse or a trackpad. The ability to physically draw your automation curve is a massive time saver and I got some great natural sounding results in short order. This is a legit DAW in an iPad. Meaning we can have access to a studio anywhere you can hold a tablet. This opens up a great many exciting creative avenues and will be a welcomed addition to my toolbox. Thank You!

Super powerful, more pro apps please Apple!. I love how powerful this is and how smoothly it runs on my M1 iPad Pro! I have been using it the last couple days for all my projects and it is integrating rather seamlessly into my process. I like being able to manipulate elements of the UI with touch and the Apple Pencil but Also connect my mouse and keyboard for traditional editing workflows! I haven’t found much I don’t like but if I do Ill update this review.

Forced subscription?. You can’t even pay for the app unless you get into some sort of free trial. It seems like a bait and switch because they know you’re going to forget to unsubscribe and they don’t make it easy. They also don’t give you an option to purchase a license. You have to do subscription. Well, it’s terrible business model where you can’t serve all your customers. All of the ones that you can talk into giving monthly subscriptions up. Apple consider that people with autism/neurodivergent do get anxiety from subscriptions. There are scientific research papers on aversion of loss with neurodivergent people when you force time intervals with a financial loss. Do the right thing

Amazing. Not that Apple really needs praise here, but they’ve really knocked it out of the park with Logic Pro for iPad - and this is only the first release. It doesn’t have EVERYTHING from the desktop version, but I think for most folks there’s more than enough here. If you’re already a GarageBand on iPad user and you’re starting to hit walls this is where you want to head. I’ve used many iOS/iPadOS and desktop DAWs over many, many years and the feeling I’m getting when using Logic Pro for iPad is the same feeling as when I first started using Reason. It took a good day or two to really wrap my head around the UI (it’s QUITE different from GarageBand on mobile) but once you do it’s like opening this amazing treasure chest of tools. There’s so many ways to string together instruments and effects chains. When I put a drummer track on a Drum Machine Designer instrument channel the first time it kind of blew my mind (maybe this always worked on Logic for Mac? I don’t know, never used it). You really get the best of all worlds here - flexible MidiFX, a time line, great audio editing, full AUv3 instrument and effect automation. It’s got the playfulness of AUM with the familiarity of a DAW with a timeline. And this is just the beginning…

Over all pretty good. Logic Pro is a great alternative for people who use garage band but want a over all better tools to make music. Although one problem I have is that a lot of the instruments in garage band aren’t in Logic Pro. To name a few jet stream, mechanized bass, fuzz sweep bass, the list goes on. Also I can’t seem to find the LFO rate thing, but that might just be me being dumb. Also I have some ideas for sound packs you can add to logic and garage band. First of all a Brostep and classic dubstep would be nice. Also maybe add a tropical house pack. And please change the sound of the screech bass. It sounds like you mixed the sound of nails on chalkboard and a metal pipe. Search up long bass tutorial and click on the first short you see and you’ll see the type of sound I’m talking about. But over all this is rlly good.

Unintuitive, crashes, tedious to use on iPad. Bloated Garageband.. Like many other logic users, I have been waiting a long time for this app. Really, really wanted to like this. I just can't. I hate using it. It took me three months to be able to open logic files from my Mac on the iPad. Total nightmare compatibility. The user interface is just confusing, and aggravating. It's like the unwanted combination of GarageBand for the iOS and logic. it takes three steps to do the simplest things, that only take one click on logic for the Mac. And what is with that arrangement window always coming back? Why is it so hard to work with plug-ins from the mixer? Why is everything jumbled together in the finder? Where are all the amp simulators? Are they called patches now? I'm so confused. There's basic functions I still can't figure out how to do, it's completely unintuitive to me. And I've been recording since the four track days. I haven't even gotten to the subscription payment model- Just totally aggravating, and totally lame. I will not be continuing my subscription. Boo

The best iPad DAW for me. Last year I switched to making music on the iPad because I found I was more productive on it. For each project, however, I had to choose one of four DAWs depending on what limitations I was willing to live with for that project. But Logic has all the features that are most important to me. Things that would make it better: MIDI export. Export regions. UI for the plug-ins that are currently playback only. Ability to write or import MIDI scripts without needing the Mac version of Logic. Easier management of takes than having to pull up a menu and submenu for each operation.

No compatibility with Atom 2 or Pure Piano. This app has the potential to become to premier DAW on iPad. And I would want to make this my exclusive platform paying my subscription year round while I create music on Logic Pro for iPad. However there is either no compatibility with Pure Piano or Atom 2 or I don’t know how to load them into Logic Pro yet. Atom 2 is the best and most robust piano roll midi-editor on iPad and Pure Piano is the best piano simulator. I want to create a track where Pure Piano is the audio unit and then start another midi track where Atom 2 can be launched and send to Pure Piano. I can do this in other DAWs on iPad and that compatibility would put this DAW over the top. If an update can be made to accommodate my fav AUv3s or I can be shown how to load them I will gladly change my rating to 5 stars.

Great DAW But Missing MIDI Export. Unless I’m mistaken, and correct me if I am, there is no midi export. This drives me nuts since you can’t in GarageBand as well. Why create an almost full featured DAW in iOS, and then you don’t add midi export? This would make my review a full 5 stars if midi export was added. Also it has a hard time exporting a track without crashing if one has a few audio FX added to tracks. Freezing tracks isn’t the best way to export every time if one wishes to use several FX chains.

Never…. As a long time Apple customer (since the Mac Plus) I was glad to see Logic advance to the iPad. I’ve used the Mac in music since Vision and Studio Vision with a time in Digital Performer and then ProTools. When ProTools went to a subscription based system I said no way and moved my music to Logic. I love Logic even though I’ve never used half of the many things it can do. And now I can foresee Logic (desktop) going to subscription format. Well I won’t be going with it. I’ll be moving to something on the Linux OS even though I really hate to leave the Mac I will before I will ever use a subscription based application.

Add more guitar sounds. This app desperately needs more options for guitar instead of classic acoustic, acoustic guitar and hard rock. Like seriously? the real Logic Pro has tons of sounds in its library, and this has like three and then some other crappy sound patches. I just tried out BandLab, and they have more library options, but their app is glitchy and so I have to come back to this one. PLEASE add more interesting and real like sounds to ALL instruments!!

You done messed up, Apple.. Update: Plugins working better. Not happy with the lack of a simple MIDI learn (that I could find). In that respect, Cubasis 3 is still cleaner and easier to use. How is Cubasis 3, a third party app in direct competition with Logic's DAW features, able to host inter-app and all my AU plugins while Apple's own product chokes when it tries? I'm sure the Official Response would be that the plugin devs need to fix their wares, but... ahem... myriad other apps work with them perfectly. Maybe your team should get in touch with Steinberg for advice. Thank god Cubasis is fantastic. And NanoStudio. And AudioBus. And every single other music app that works as advertised. How about free subs until LP actually works? I was thrilled like everybody else in the whole entire music-nerd universe when LP finally appeared on iPad. Right now I'd rather use GarageBand. Or Voice Memos. Or an Etch-a-Sketch.

Using Logic Pro on an iPad Pro with multitouch will be revolutionary!. I’ve been waiting for software tools to catch up with my musicality capabilities, as a trained classical pianist, and the iPad Pro is the perfect device to make use of Logic Pro’s workflow and user interface. I like that Logic Pro is already outfitted with my existing plugins, and that the app’s layout is familiar, given the macOS version, as reference, in former years. Thanks for making this app!

There’s better. Out of Logic Pro for iPad and Cubasis 3, I believe you get more value for money with Cubasis. I’ve only had to pay Steinberg once, and I can’t remember ever using it? Did I get my value for money? No, but I don’t mind helping companies like that because it’s only a one time payment and I appreciate what they are trying to do. As for Logic on iPad, well honestly this app isn’t really that outstanding enough to justify a subscription and it’s definitely not game changing enough to justify it value for money when comparing it to other apps that are offered. I understand that a subscription policy is something that Apple pushes on developers, but it’s not something that I’m interested in participating in. Will, I recommend this app to anyone else? Nope, not unless it’s a one time payment. I will actually tell people to stay away from it!

Losers at Apple After Buck Yet Again. Title says it all. I won’t be using this app. That you think Logic is worth any type of subscription is beyond me, Apple. Logic was the first DAW I ever purchased and, at $200, I considered it a steal. I felt confident that, by moving forward with Apple, I would be working with a company that puts the artist first (I know, seems silly now). In retrospect, how could I expect a company so consumed by profit to actually step outside of the corporate norm? Remember, this is an entity so greedy that they intentionally designed their phones and products to fail, leading consumers to re-up, however premature. Any of the Fortune 500 would be just as happy to gouge our wallets. And what better model than ‘pay me endlessly if you want my product.’ Man, f*&^k these people who consistently rob the people that generate their wealth. Sorry Apple, I know you won’t miss my measly $50 a year but hopefully many more take this stance and steer clear of this evident corporate greed (downright robbery, if you ask me). FYI I’d happily pay a flat rate of $150 (this couldn’t be worth as much as desktop version) and be done with it.

Disappointing pricing, accessibility problem. I was really excited to see this until I downloaded it. The price is $500 for 10 year usage, which is too much. It should be priced like Logic for Mac, FCP, and Motion, which have reasonable, one-time costs. That is the only reason I got Logic for Mac in the first place — otherwise I would have gone with something like FLStudio which is more expensive than Logic for Mac, but just a one-time expense. Their iPad app is only about $15 and they are a vastly smaller company than Apple. I’m already paying a subscription, because the software only works on Apple devices, so I have to buy more devices to keep using the software. Also, music software in general needs to pay more attention to accessibility. Dark mode can be extremely difficult or impossible to read for people with certain eye conditions, and this one is harder to read than on a Mac. Even though my device is set to light mode, the file browser opens in a dark mode that is more difficult to read than the desktop version. It’s too difficult to type out an explanation on an iPad, but Apple should bring in an accessibility expert and test the UIs with astigmatism. The situation keeps getting worse. A light mode would be ideal (for all apps).

Functionality issues abound. Lots of complaints here about missing features and, ridiculously, the subscription model. The price is the price. The biggest issues concern basic functionality. Moving regions is sometimes very difficult. Moving regions will sometimes create an additional identical region where the original region was. Selecting and then working with multiple regions is often an exercise in utter frustration. The icons for selecting and then working with multiple regions make no sense. The “handles” on regions block visibility, particularly against the black background. The toggle between “trim” and “loop” is un-intuitive. Why would anyone think those two concepts have any relationship to each other? Why even call something “trim” when it involves basic functionality that is much more than “trimming”? Part of Apple’s brilliance over the decades is the relationship between design and functionality. Products typically are designed to relate intimately to how people use the product in the real world. This, though, fails pretty badly on that score. The features, particularly new ones like “beat breaker” and “sample alchemy,” are really great. The experience is marred significantly, however, by weird design choices, odd labeling and impediments to work flow. Hopefully these things can be fixed.

Cash grab….. Deleted immediately after opening and being prompted to purchase a subscription package. A one time purchase I could have considered but a subscription?! Are you insane Apple?? Y’all barely support garage band as it is, we’re lucky to see 2 new releases for garage band a year and you think the community is just going to fork over their money every month/year in the hopes that support and updates continue regularly. If I’m paying monthly I expect new content/product improvement monthly as well. Why would I continue to pay money if nothing has changed in the software of the app? I get so tired of companies wanting people to subscribe to products that get very little support/improvement. This app will be the same I’m sure, it’ll get somewhat regular updates until it’s considered stable and have just almost as many features as the Mac version but not ALL the features of course because as apple loves saying “it’s a iPad not a mac” because Apple totally didn’t harp on how powerful the new ipad pros are… so powerful yet Apple won’t let us take full advantage of its hardware… people should realize by now their iPhones and iPads are easily capable of running full fledged pc programs even console games, there’s no excuse for not providing the same functionality as the original computer version.

Message to developers and feature request. Dear developers of Logic Pro this has totally been a dream come true I have been waiting for this day for a long time thank you guys so much I hope that one day that this app will be a one time purchase (: I’m really digging it. Also could you guys acoustic producer kits feature like the desktop version and also add pop drummers and maybe add a kit in the pack that sounds close to Michael Jackson’s Billie jean drum sounds ?

What Version, apprehensive?. I’m only reserving my mid score of 3 stars because I am unable to find the version number of Logic Pro for iPad. Albeit I don’t agree with it, I understand the monthly subscription but “I ain’t cool with ya’ll telling us it’s for ongoing future developments without revealing a version number to signify and announce an update! Why?!!” All the other apps on here don’t hide it, why are ya’ll? Other than that, it seems pretty cool and powerful for an iPad app. I am happy with it somewhat but still, I like looking at version numbers to tell exactly what’s been done and how often they are being worked on and released. So far, my only gripe. Will upgrade my score when I see a bit more, starting with that version number.

Home Run. I have wanted this for many years, but was skeptical that it could actually work. The geniuses who implemented the core concepts of how this works must have spent thousands of hours getting it just right. I am no longer a skeptic, this works perfectly, is beautiful, and makes me want to carry my iPad everywhere I go again just like when it first came out. Today I imported a heavy rock song I’d written five years ago, which has just about every trick in the Logic book and 40 plus tracks. Within ten minutes I had figured enough out to begin working and creating in this ingenious interface. Amazing work Logic Team!

Subscription. I downloaded this fully expecting to be able to link my MacOS version of Logic Pro to this iPad version, but instead it has a money-hungry subscription system which doesn’t even automatically sync my projects on a cloud. Seems like it would be extremely useful, but instead my expectations were compressed into a ball of disappointment. I expected Apple to know what a good workflow is, but clearly I was wrong. If it did work as I described, I can guarantee it would have boosted sales of Logic Pro by a lot (which would make you around as much money as the subscription service would in 4 entire years.) Apple has enough money, might as well make their products actually convenient and not miserably overpriced. Would not recommend.

Logic Mobile is Too Powerful for my device. Although Logic has a lot more settings and instruments than GarageBand, when I loaded less than 30 instruments in my project, a message that said “CPU Overload” kept me from being able to play my song. I have an iPad Air 4th gen. With a decent amount of storage, so I thought I wouldn’t have too many problems, but I think the effects and settings I can add to my instruments were too much for my iPad to handle. This is just what I have been experiencing, and I’m not exactly sure what the issue is. However, if I wonder if anyone else has been experiencing the same thing as me. I think I’m going to reach out to Apple to see if there is any solution for this reoccurring problem. BUT OVERALL LOGIC PRO MOBILE IS AWESOME

Calling This Logic Pro is Illogical. I knew it. I had a feeling that apple would take away the ability to use custom/3rd party soundfonts, AU’s not from the AppStore and they did it. You cannot even export MIDI from this app in the export menu. This app is great if you have a mac but if you don’t you are limited to what apple gives you with the sound library (which is also incomplete). This is a glorified version of garageband that costs you monthly. It’s nice to import existing Logic Pro files from a Mac but it is impossible to do what I do with the program on the iPad. This is from the “Sampler”: “ plug-in provides playback compatibility with Logic Pro for Mac projects. You can load presets for this plug-in, but parameter editing is only available when using Logic Pro for Mac.”

Please please respond. I was really liking this app. My MIDI, microphone, and Starrypad were all connecting really well… at first. Then my MIDI keyboard just stopped. It would work for a while then stop working after I selected a different track. I don’t know what’s wrong. It’s not the cable because it’s still sending the MIDI power and when I hit record the notes are there but the sound isn’t. This is very frustrating. I’m a new singer and producer and I’m trying to find the right DAW for the technology I’m using. What am I doing wrong? I’m using a Donned N25 MIDI keyboard if that helps. Please respond. I’m planning on getting my music up and running soon and need to know if this is the DAW for me. Thanks.

It’s great but….. I think they did a really good job porting Logic to iPad and I find it quite enjoyable to use ,even more so than the Mac version, which I don’t actually use all that much as I mostly use Fl studio. The new plugins Beat breaker and sample alchemy are awesome too. I’ll probably end up subscribing but like others,I don’t like the subscription model, especially since I own it on Mac. I think a perpetual license option would really be nice plus some sort of discount for people who already bought the Mac version. Same with Final Cut

Good stuff- could still be better. I have created lots of excellent recordings with Logic Pro and the results are excellent. The learning curve is steep for someone not experienced with the symbols and jargon. The tutorials and help feature make too many assumptions about the computer skills and knowledge of jargon to be very helpful. At best they are challenging to use. How about a manual for dummies with a full and understandable graphic layout of all of the buttons, features, and functions? Somewhat slower paced tutorials?

Trying to look at and download the Sound Packs. I get the Not connected to the Internet Error. i was trying to look at the sound packs and it took me to the error screen Logic Pro is not connected to the internet. I’ve been getting this same error with Apple Music on my iPad forever and it makes it unusable. Everything else works just fine on my iPad. My connection is fine. The program itself is working fine. It records, etc. But as soon as I try to look at Sound Packs I get the error. Help would be nice. Since this is not just a Logic Pro error. I have an 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” 1 TB

It’s what you make it. I’ve been wanting to switch to IPad music production for a long time, because I love the fluidity of the IPad so much compared to the Mac. I love both products, but I would find myself gravitating towards the IPad for almost everything before I ever went to my MacBook. The only thing holding me back was Logic because it’s my DAW of choice for almost a decade. This changed it all for me!! Just sold my MacBook, and now all I have is this powerful IPad able to do everything i need to continue making music for streaming platforms! Thank you for finally doing this Apple! Can’t wait to see all the future updates :)

You guys did it🔥🔥🔥🔥. It’s a new program, it has its bugs but the functionality and workflow is unrivaled, sound is incredible, loading au3 and custom drum samples is remarkably fluid. Freeze option to save resources and samples match tempo. There’s a few glitches with note repeat viewing and the subscription is less desirable but if library expands to high quality instruments and collaborations with companies like NI and such, it could be worth it. Definitely the best DAW on iPad. Great work 🍾🍸

I really want to like this app. I don’t know what is happenings, but playback and even exported audio have significant drops in Audio, I have no idea what is happening, but please fix this. Please incorporate Magic Keyboard shortcuts that are correlated to the mac version, and I agree with the other comments that I would be willing to pay $80-$100 one time rather than pay a subscription. I dropped Final Cut Pro for iPad to to DaVinci having more power and free for 80% of functionality or an easy one-time payment for a full video-editor. I hate to say it but as soon as a better daw comes out on iPad I will be switching; especially if I am paying a subscription. Shift the model and fix these bugs. I could not consider this a pro app if I was recording a client and their recorded audio kept dropping.

Good start, but I’ll wait. I’ve been hoping for something like this for a long time. I know there have been other great DAWs on the app store for a while, but those were mainly B-tier at best. With Logic Pro on the iPad, I was excited to finally see one of the top dogs go mobile. This definitely is a “version 1” though, so there are some things that I want to see updated before I go all in. The main thing is midi integration for external controllers. Yes, I can plug in a keyboard and play right away. However, I bought this keyboard because of the control that it gave me over the DAW on my computer with the knobs, faders, transport controls, etc. Unfortunately, this version of Logic does not make use of those controls yet. The touch controls and Apple Pencil integration are great, but I’m hoping other midi controls will be added soon.

A Turning Point for Music Production on iPad. Logic Pro at version 1.0 is a terrific starting point for a real “pro” DAW on iPad, and I think it reflects that the music software market for iPad is ready to go to the next level. One star deduction because there are some noticeable gaps between Logic Pro for iPad and really any desktop-grade DAW. Some of these gaps are down to limitations at the OS level, some due to the inevitable “90% complete” nature of a 1.0 release, and some that are hard to understand. For example, file handling is obtuse and difficult to work with, with no concept of “Save as…” or versioning or template functionality. It’s easy to inadvertently lose or damage existing work. That said I think Apple has a solid foundation here and I’m hopeful we’ll see improvements at a regular cadence.

Changed My Mind. I initially wasn’t a fan but after I was able to spend some time with the program I came to a different conclusion and love it. I subscribed in order to delve deeper into a complex program. Despite the steep learning curve my creativity has been sparked. I’m spending. Ore time creating now than I have in awhile. The wonderful recent update quelled my suspicions about Apple not doing much to support the program going forward. So I’m a fan!

Files in Browser. I love this app on the iPad especially being able to record directly into Quick Sampler. I just need to be able to open my Files app in the browser and the reason for this is if i click on browse samples in quick sampler it automatically opens the browser. I use the built in samples but i would like to have the freedom to view my own in the browser. Split View is great, don’t get me wrong, i would just like the extra option of seeing my files in full view in the browser. And another request is mapping. I would love to add slices and move them via position and length. I don’t have a computer the iPad is all i have and use to make music and content so I depend on it to be versatile enough to be creative. Keep it up guys.

Audio and iPad should mix better. I wanted to like this. I love the idea of recording onto iPad. It eliminates the need for a computer and the numerous latency and other complicated issues that come with it. Unfortunately, it didn’t end up working out due to my tc electronic go twin interface seemingly biting the dust after less than a year of use. If you’re listening Apple, forget all the midi implementation and drum sequencing. I just need something that records audio, is multitrack, and outputs a wav file. Equalization and compression are just bonuses that come along for the ride. I don’t need anything else, and I certainly don’t want to use a computer, when it should (and does) work better for iPad. I don’t blame Apple for the interface issue, but it’s time to figure out a usb a to lightning solution that goes beyond just cameras, as I also have a behringer uphoria umc1820, which has its own power supply. Perhaps the usb c iPads handle this better. I don’t know, mine is lightning. I wanted this to work so badly. It just didn’t.

Long Awaited for this Device. I have been a long time Garage Band Mobile user. First on iPhone and now iPad Pro. I have seen how it has developed and paved the way for Logic on iPad. I am thrilled to be able to use a more professional DAW on a touch screen device and use the same plug-in application as Garage Band Mobile. Thank you Apple for developing music production softwares for your Mobile devices!

Very solid start. I’m a recording artist, producer, and engineer who has used logic on desktop for a decade. Overall I am thoroughly impressed with logic on the iPad. I love sliding around audio with my finger or creating eq curves by a touch. The stock sounds are truly impressive. My only two complaints thus far is I wish it had the ability to load a saved chain/template. For someone who records vocals I hate having to re add in all my plugins one by one instead of just loading up a saved channel strip. Also I wish it had the ability to choose parts of different takes like I can on the desktop version. It’s a bit tedious having to slice the audio then pick different takes as opposed to the slider on desktop to merge different takes. Also with my interface I notice a slight delay even on the fastest sample rate when recording with effects. Wish the m1 I’m sure the issues will be resolved in the near future and once they are I can record exclusively on my iPad. Great job

It’s finally here. We’ve all dreamed of the day Logic Pro would come to iPad and it’s finally here. All the features and plugins are included except Flex Pitch unless I’m overlooking it. If you’re a seasoned Logic Pro user then learning the new iPad interface will be a breeze to learn. I had it down in a few hours thanks to all of the included in app tutorials. I’ve already recorded a few songs on my iPad and I’m excited to see what the future holds for this amazing app.

looking forward to rolling updates for both logic pro and final cut!!. Both additions are HUGE steps in the right direction, and i am excited to see the direction in continuity! namely, in features like plugins, ports for iphone and ipad mini, AU and VST plugin ports, instrument synthesis vocoder customization, automation tools in logic pro, and other additional tools which may or may not already exist in an under-optimized workflow. Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing others derivation ideas! 4 stars because of monthly payment model :o

Where is “score”?!!. Downloaded Logic yesterday and discovered that “score” has been removed from the program! Folks, not everyone is a hip-hop, rap, beats maker (All legit genres that don’t necessarily need a score read out and editor), but those of us who arrange, write for video or film or just prefer a standard notation editor rather than just a piano roll editor, may find this seriously lacking. A piano roll doesn’t give you a quick and easy visual, like notes on a staff do. I use the piano roll extensively when I am fine tuning a feel for a track, but it is horrible for just looking for quick harmonic changes over a broad range of notes. Another thing everyone should be aware of is that Logic is very sensitive to memory overload. I had lots of apps open ( because that hasn’t been an issue with anything else) and I loaded in a project that had nine tracks running each with several plugins on them (no audio, just midi)and I got a system overload warning stating “ The plug-ins in the project are overloading your iPad, or your iPad is low on memory.” I closed all my apps and had no more problems, so beware. I have an iPad Pro with 16gb ram and 1 terabyte of storage, so that really shouldn’t have been an issue. Logic is amazing on most everything else and I have enjoyed using it extensively for at least 7 hours since yesterday (lol). Score editor is a major work flow loss for me, so until that is resolved, my rating will be 3 stars at most.

Why no info on version and updates?. I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned that it seems odd Apple is hiding the version info and update log that literally every other app has listed as standard. How are we supposed to know when updates are added and bugs are fixed? This is especially important for a recurring subscription model. The way the one man development team Loopy Pro handles this is miles ahead in terms of transparency. What is Apple afraid of by hiding this standard info?

Love to see it. I think it’s wonderful this app has finally been brought to iPad and I like that it’s not a one-to-one clone of the desktop version but more thought out for a touch interface. The layout isn’t necessarily intuitive but it’s pretty fast to figure out and the included lessons are great. Sure, it’s still missing a few things (please bring Flex Pitch soon 🤞) but for a v1 I’m extremely satisfied and hope that this brings more attention, innovation, and competition to iOS music production from plugin vendors and other DAWs. As for the subscription—I like it. I think the monthly pricing makes some of the more advanced Logic Pro features more accessible to people who want to track ideas and explore their musical side but don’t necessarily have the resources for a large upfront investment. If my kid is serious about wanting to get into music production, I’m a lot more likely to pay $5 for a couple months on the iPad she already has than I am to buy her a MacBook Pro, Logic Pro X, and all the hardware and plugins that she’ll inevitably want for a hobby that might not stick. Bottom line, I think it’s a great value for the initial feature set and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.

Program just stays on “loading” screen. Just installed Logic Pro on a brand new iPad Air. When I run the app, it just stays on the loading screen. I have tried reinstalling, same issue. Also updated to latest iOS.

By far the best DAW. So obviously, being version 1, there are still a few things to go to make this a complete success, especially support for 3rd party controllers such as Novation Launchpad pro etc as on the Mac version, but this is by far the most comprehensive DAW available for the iPad, with a good workflow and some great creative tools. I can’t wait to see how it develops over the years, and in my mind, the subscription process is not such a drama as many are making out. Being able to choose when to use it throughout the year if you need, or a small sub each year is not a big deal, especially with this much power under the hood of a supremely mobile music creation app.

ok but a lot of missing functionality. Biggest frustration is just touched something on screen all my tracks deleted, and can’t seem to undo. Autosave wrote over it, this needs to work better, can’t event revert to last good saved version. Still needs work on improving the interface and hopefully easier access to more features. The best feature would be if it could record video at same time for the tracks so multi track videos were easy to produce.

Launched Too Soon. Seems featured complete, but isn’t. Major keyboard shortcuts like split and select all following are completely missing. Claims to do full round trips with the mac version, but simply won’t open projects with a time based timeline instead of notes. An impressive technical release that doesn’t yet work. It’s bad enough when a single payment app leaves fundamental parts of the app to be added back in - at least you pay once and eventually get what you paid for. With this new subscription approach, you are paying now but you have to pay again later to get an app that works. Wait for a later release and keep using Auria

Why do I need to repurchase. I have this already on my Mac why do I have to now pay for a subscription on iPad I think if you’ve bought it you should get the iPad version for free

Best daw for I pad. I was hoping to get Logic Pro on a Mac for about 6 to 7 months before this came out and it’s everything I hoped it to be it is an amazing daw and it’s also really nice being able to touch knobs faders and having a mixer on hand and also being able to use plug ins and also having 15 gb of sounds is amazing also the only bad things I have to say is that it sometimes randomly quits and that I have to go out of the project to name it apart from that it’s an amazing daw an update I have been using this for 10 months now and even though my cpu is overloading that is my I pad and I still love this interface and it’s heaps of fun

Will not stop crashing. Really disappointing that it can’t seem to survive even opening a project. Working on an iPad Pro 5th Gen so not sure why it’s doing this

UX design is fantastic, but MIDI editing behaviours are terrible. The touch interface is great, this is the first iPad DAW I’ve tried that doesn’t feel like 5 minute carpal tunnel syndrome. Love the Apple Pencil behaviours. Unfortunately, when recording per-note CCs from MPE instruments or even the built-in touch keyboard, the CCs are written to channel automation instead of note data. As a result, moving notes doesn’t move the associated CC data, and editing polyphonic recordings is deeply painful. Please consider following either of the MIDI 2.0 or MPE specs rather than reinventing the wheel.

Screen clutter. Cluttered screen , but found out something I didn’t know , you can control the iPad Logic Pro from a MacBook keyboard . It’s great that Logic Pro on iPad has midi Bluetooth support also. You can definitely lose yourself ( ego) whilst creating music in Logic Pro . For that it’s worth the subscription alone .

Terrible App. I can’t do anything unless I pay an expensive subscription!!!😡😤🤬😖😠👿😾 If I were you I wouldn’t download this app! !!!GARAGE BAND IS MUCH BETTER!!!

Finally. Been waiting years for this moment

Need an update. So buggy with missing features. A development roadmap would be appreciated

I don’t want to subscribe. I don’t want to subscribe to use the app

Needs improvement to work. Worked well 3 times on XR18 then fails to recognise all associated channels input signals XR18 , 4 and 8 channel Presonus interfaces not working. Except 2 channel usb powered presonus interface.....works perfectly. Useless for anything else. Too hasty for release perhaps?

Ive been using this for a couple of weeks now and is nice. 1.Okay so i love the upadates like mastering assitint 2 l love the fact THE pros use use it 3 it is very fun

Phenomenal. Amazed at the responsiveness and wealth of incredible resources at your fingertips. Incredibly intuitive and well thought out. Bravo Apple!

Alchemy synth crashes on IOS 17. As the title says, when you play with the Alchemy synth, it continually crashes on IOS 17. I hope they fix this soon.

It’s everything GarageBand is, amped up, but…. It’s not something I’d pay for continuously to use, sorry to say, I’ll take the trial to try it out. But if this were to have had a one time fee like $199.99 ofc I’d pay for it.

No thank you!. WHY would Apple charge a subscription for this software? Even after paying for the desktop version of Logic I would consider paying a reasonable price for a functional mobile version, (remember when this would have been called a companion app?) but to charge a subscription is just ill advised. I’ve gone this long without having a mobile version of Logic so I’ll pass until Apple comes to their senses or something better comes along…

Why subscription?. Makes no sense that overtime this will cost me more than mac logic pro software. And this does not include many features.

Almost there. Can’t connect to iPhone microphone Can’t re order effects chain

REMOVE THE SUBSCRIPTION. Why is there a subscription?? PLEASE make it the same as the MacOS apps!

Subsciption Based. Subscription based software, no thanks.

Subscription. Why? I already paid for the full version. We’re tired of all these millions of subscriptions we pay for.

Compatibility is as bad as the interface. As someone who records and works on Mac Logic regularly, this is an extremely poor substitute. The majority of the time I cannot even open my files from logic based on timing or midi controllers/interface. It is a difficult program to navigate with no real advantages. This program actually made me dislike logic in general. Pay the money, get real Logic, this is a waste of time and money… also no one likes subscriptions! I’m not sure how this was cleared for release. It’s like the programming was outsourced to people who don’t understand the basic functionality of Logic. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY

I’m taking a long hard look at whether I will remain in the Apple ecosystem….. Apples greed is starting to show I have been considering purchasing logic for my Mac but now it is definitely out of the question there are many other daws available for ipad

need to add flex time slice. Good adaptation for ipad, but still not completely autonomous. I still have to use mac logic pro, since I still doesn’t have flex time slice tool… waiting for the adjustment

Tried but Missing Key Features - Flex Pitch, Swipe Comping & more. I’ll go back to bringing my laptop when travelling as opposed to using Logic for IPad. The iPad version is not really Logic Pro, but feels like a souped up version of GarageBand. At the current subscription price, I feel it’s not worth the monthly subscription fee that Apple charges. For me, not having Flex Pitch and swipe comping are deal breakers in addition to other missing features such as doing midi converting when it comes to keeping me as a subscriber.

MIDI controller support is basic at best, non-existent at worst. I *want* to love Logic Pro for iPad. I’m even willing to pay a subscription for it. Sadly, there’s no support for MIDI controllers beyond just the keys themselves. That means no use of the transport controls (play, stop, record), no use of the knobs and sliders for adjusting parameters, etc. I thought it was a bug at first, but other forums say it’s by design. I can’t wrap my head around it. Logic Pro for iPad is designed to be a mobile DAW but it won’t let me connect to my controllers (beyond the keys themselves) on the go? I’m really confused, Apple! :(

Subscription only?!?. I find it ridiculous that I have the $400 app on my Mac and still need to pay to use it on my iPad. This should be free for owners of the desktop app, like come on!

Infuriating. On what Planet would this strategy work? Seriously Apple? Are there any takers? Ther are limits to innovative ideas…. Most often they flop even with the Apple NoGo logo.

Presque parfait!.

Another Subscription, no thanks.. Already paid for the desktop version, not looking for another subscription.

Not very considerate towards MacOS logic users. Why are logic users on Mac forced to pay a subscription to a sub-par version of a desktop application that is a one time payment? There is absolutely no point to this, you get 60% of the capability on GarageBand. Don’t waste your money.

Subscription model for a APPLE app … nope. The app is good and like garage band with more features. It is well done. Because it takes me allot of time to get settled with an app, doing a subscription is not logical. This app for me is a 80$ application not a 80+ $ a year app.

Awesome travel companion. Went on a short vacay with this for a month. Amazing! Got a tonne done and can continue on my home mac. Love the inexpensive rental.

Useful, but the initial version needs continuous upgrades. Useful Ipad DAW, but the first version I downloaded felt like a starter version, that had a lot of missing features. I won't pay for a continuous subscription, as the app is really not useful enough to pay that much for it. After one year, I could buy a lot of music gear, withb the money saved by not paying for a monthly subscription. Apple is a mutibillion dollar company; the can do better than this.

Loyalty fail. Where’s Apple’s loyalty to their clients who already spent thousands on iPads laptops and logic and Final Cut? I OWN Logic and I spent this money on products knowing I would be able to mix on my couch if I wanted to instead of locked in my studio…now you want to charge me again? The greed in unwelcome and frankly belittles you as a company. Thumbs down.

Monthly?. Monthly fee despite having the desktop version?

Money grabbers. Why would you wanna charge more monies for a product that is substandard.

Nope. I already purchased logic for Mac. For the price of hardware and a software already purchased one would expect this to be contained in the mac version.

Apple Store doesn’t have session. So this app is good really good But your stealing peoples money for subscription on top of that Apple doesn’t even have sessions in the Apple Store to teach Logic Pro For the iPad So the people that don’t know how to use logic are screwed like me unless you come across somebody who can teach you from my experience I learnt garage band at Apple Store that started my producing journey by an apple creative so there needs to be sessions at apple if you’re charging a subscription in app tutorials are not gonna do it not everybody learns that way This app can take midi files which is so good ! Super surprised by that And yes if pay for the 400$ version on my Mac I want it also accessible On iPad the subscription should be removed it should be a one time pay if anything I’m trying to make music but your making it hard

Omg!. Wow everything is money around here, I will never subscribe

Why not one payment. If this was one time payment every one would buy it .

Subscription??. Ain’t no one paying for a subscription

No to subscription!. As an audio professional I could be paying hundreds per month to sign up for all the subs that are pitched my way - paying to own nothing. Subs are for those who don’t run a business where overhead and capital costs matter.

Subscription only. The last thing I need is another subscription app. No thanks!

Already own this for years on my Mac not paying for it again and again. And again!

dissaproved. Subscription for making music? Nahhh man, ridiculous

Really well done app…but not for desktop replacement. Hate the subscription model, but that seems to be the way with a lot of apps and services, not just this one. Managing subscription creep just a fact of life these days… The app itself is very well designed, intuitive, and feature rich. Not a port of the desktop program, but a native iPad app in and of itself. A serious DAW, not a casual app. Certainly capable of producing complete professional projects. Maybe the best DAW on iPad? But not for those heavily invested in the desktop version IMHO. Notably missing: swipe comping, arrangement track, and Flex Pitch, probably other features as well. 3rd party auv3 limited to those offered on the App Store only. Templates awkward to save and use due to auto save overwriting your original template on the fly - have to duplicate a template project before using it or it’s lost - this is a universal iPadOS thing, not a problem to this specific app, but it makes for an awkward workflow. Everyone has different workflows, needs, style, and of course existing hardware, so I wouldn’t say “get it” or “avoid it”. For someone just getting into serious music production, and/or who wants to go all-iPad and portable, this is probably the way to go. For someone already immersed in the Logic desktop world, it’s probably best avoided-go with a MacBook with Logic desktop if it’s just portability you want. This review written after downloading and playing with the app for a few weeks under the free trial period (wish more app developers would let you try before you buy).

its okay. ive been using logic pro for ipad since its release, and id like to tap in some opinions and my experiences. first, the subscription. like any sane human being, its annoying.. however, if you are someone like me who is switching from garageband for iOS/iPadOS to logic pro for ipad, id say its worth it, but it depends on the situation or genre of music you make to switch. second, the features. the feature-set you get is okay? you cant edit alchemy, the sampler (excluding quick sampler), or even have flex pitch, but i can understand why there not features yet as at the time of writing this, the current version is 1.1. you do get some pretty cool sound designing synths like ES2, retro synth, drum synth, and the sculpture synth that can fill-in that void of not making a custom alchemy patch, but it isnt enough to totally "jump ship" and not have problems occur or roadblocks.

Bugs….. A lots of bugs….but also realy good for 1 mont ..and then you have to pay

FINALLY !!!. About time! Thank you!

App doesn't work. Downloaded it and anytime I try to click anything it says "this operation cant be completed" I know it's release day but I'm hoping they fix this soon! I'm on Ipad Pro 11inch 3rd gen running latest ipadOS

Subscription Only, Immediate Pass. For those more are both serious with their music, or keep it as a hobby, you’re better off buying Logic outright for $200 on Mac and continuing to use GarageBand on iOS

Incomplete app. If this app was as good as the desktop app then I would use it. I bought an iPad maxed it out thinking decent things were coming our way I was wrong and I feel I wasted money doing so ! I also won’t pay for an app I already own and most software licenses allow you to run it on at least 2 computers. I’m sorry but Steve Jobs would have not released this incomplete app and then tried to charge for it . I’ve been an Apple user educator and worked extensively in design film and audio for 40 years this is unacceptable behaviour for a company who based their Motto on “ for the rest of us ‘ not very innovative cmon apple you’re losing us

One Flaw (in my opinion). PERFECT, except for one thing. Apple should have kept the same browser set up they have for GarageBand iOS. The new “tag” style browser that’s also missing the kit creators is annoying to work with. I find it much more inspiring staring a song in GarageBand iOS due to the ease of use that the sound library has.

Great start. Sure, there are some features that aren’t supported yet. But this is changing my mobile workflow for the better and I can’t wait to see what is coming in the future. Yeah, not a huge fan of the subscription model. But…it means more and more development for this app. And for that I’m okay chipping in each month/year. Game changer!

Okay, so when i found out Logic Pro was released for iPad, I bought a new iPad pro!. I’m a little let down however... I tried to purchase it the day it was released but my iPad pro was outdated, so the appstore would not allow the purchase! Am I wrong? I thought it was a one time fee when first released? Was it setup as a yearly charge, or did the subscription come several weeks later? So far I do like the feel, however I hate that it doesn’t seemed geared for metal musicians to lay down quick tracks... I know in the Mac version Logic Pro offers Mosh Pit as a killer guitar tone to plsy midi... And there is not many apps that do, so I absolutely loved that option, because there really isn’t many Auv3 or IAP that offer “Killer” guitars... Thanks for releasing on IOS

Locked out because “subscription not found”. Numerous times I’ve been locked out, when the app randomly decides “I don’t have a subscription” - I’m unable to use Logic until I can find Wi-Fi, renders the app useless and all my project inaccessible. Completely unacceptable - protools usb key level kinda stuff. Nah son 1 star bruv. Amazing app though 5/5 stars, never thought we’d see the day.

Good start, but needs improvement. If apple keeps it updated and improves areas where it is lacking, I’d say it’s well worth the money. (Although, I still hate subscriptions.)

The revolution will not be…. Logic Pro on the iPad. Or at least not yet. It looks like logic, but it does not feel like logic. I have not used it all that much so take what I say with a grain of salt. but I have given it a fear shake to say learning the interface did not come easily. It may be it’s just in the early stages of development or something which makes me surprised Apple right off the bat is making this a subscription for what feels like a subpar app for Apple.

nothing worth paying a subscription for. competitors are charging $20-$40 for perpetual license. There is nothing here worth paying a monthly nor annual subscription for. I might be willing to consider it if it had the score editor. The score editor with handwriting recognition on ipad that integrates with Logic Pro should’ve happened years ago… But score editor isn’t even included in this iteration. not sure how Apple justifies what they’re trying to charge for this application.

Music making on iPad isn’t convenient. So I got this cause I wanted to make music (obviously) as I want a Mac (for Logic) and can’t afford one so I thought this could be a replacement for a few months then I get a Mac but it really wasn’t, you can’t use vsts which is a huge downside and the instruments sound like GarageBands and to navigate is very clunky and isn’t convenient so save your money for a Mac and logic and just use GarageBand for the time being

Not fully there yet.. Third party VSTs should be accessible by now with the M1 chip. Lack of updates. Very Powerful DAW and it’s the future. But just not there yet just the little tedious things make it frustrating but once a few more adjustments are in it’s OVER!

Subscription? No thanks. Might as well go back to Pro Tools.. This would have been a great tool. Never got to try out all the features because they want you to get a subscription. This seems to me to be a strategy to get you on the iPad ecosystem and keep you there while they offer a product that was 70 some bucks for a Mac OS version and charge me 49 EVERY year. Makes me also want to get rid of my iPad if that is how they are going to try to squeeze money out of you. There are other platforms.

An OK translation that will improve. Why doesn’t Link work?. All of the other apps on my iPad that support Link work perfectly. How can the biggest company in the world not pull this off? Otherwise just an OK translation. I’m sure it will get way better. I resent the subscription model, for sure. I’ll pay it anyways, because even though it’s merely OK, it’s still better than any of the other apps I’ve used. Except missing Ableton Link.

Amazing. Great start. I do see room for improvement though.. Apple did a great job creating this. I think it would be so much better if they added better keyboard+mouse compatibility. To be able to do short cuts faster, access flextime faster, make cuts at the playhead easier, renaming/recoloring, etc… just like on desktop.

No Way To Export Midi Files?!. How is this called a "Pro" DAW app when you can't do something as basic as export Midi Files?! I just recorded a bunch of midi files with plans to export them to my other devices but I guess they're destined to rot on my ipad. 😠 I'm definitely considering cancelling my subscription once the trial period is up.

Good App but…. For some reason I was expecting this app to be free since I already have purchased Logic Pro on the laptop. I don’t like the idea of paying every month for another service, and I feel this version of logic is too limited to justify the monthly payment of 5 dollars. I guess for now ill just be sticking to the desktop version.

Nice, But…. The idea is nice but the app crashes or glitches if left open too long it seems…i have a new generation iPad Pro with 1tb and i don’t have a lot of apps outside of music. Once i start throwing some plugins or trying to track live drums, BOOM!!! Crash city, glitching county lol…other than that if i just want to practice without setting up a full keyboard it vibes.

Update?. So many things to love about this launch and so many flaws. Hopefully an update will be coming soon? Not having an “Arrange” feature was a major disappointment. GarageBand has a minimal song arrangement which is better than none. Also the drummers are not as easy to edit compared to GarageBand. In GB you can edit independent regions, in Logic it changes the entire selection. Saving feature has been the mixer. Hope they do a serious overhaul.

Notation Launchpad doesn’t work with Live Loops?. The laptop version is considerably less expensive in the long run and does more, AND works with more hardware. I’ll use it for track recording, but it would be 5 stars if the Live Loops was practical. Can’t assign pedals, and my launchpad doesn’t recognize live loop sessions. Pretty useless in that respect. Come on Apple this is your chance to be the abelton of IOS. Get it together.

Needs Work. While it's wonderful to have Logic Pro on the iPad, there is a major oversight in functionality. It only allows for Auv3 plugins, and does not have IAA support. In addition, certain auv3 plugins do not bounce correctly (example: LayR) which may be a problem with LayR or with Logic. Please correct these oversights and I'll raise my review to 4. Apple needs to integrate AudioBus and AUM support as well.

Mess of a DAW. Everything needs to be convoluted with this mess of a daw. Tap tap tap to get to simple stuffs wasting so much time for simple selection stuffs for so little benefit. This is Bonkers should have been arranged more straight forward like my macs logic. Unnecessarily forced usage and learning curve. Importing samples finding sounds your Audio Units all so cumbersome. I am done with this iPad m1 and pro labeling. I have waited patiently, but I think I’m done with this now. Overall this workflow drive me nuts. I really wanted to like this, but this is overly convoluted.

Cluttered, Laggy, and Unintuitive to use.. The app is cluttered with thousands of controls, and it does not come with strings sound effects by default like GarageBand. I could not record 8th notes as the arpreggiator does not work like GarageBand and once again requires extra steps. It takes much longer to adjust the velocity of a track, and the editor is terrible. Do not buy, just use GarageBand.

Please add MIDI Learn. I do a ton of live performances, and was excited to have the instrument library on Logic for them moving forward. When I realized MIDI Learn didn’t exist, it was straight back to Cubasis for me. Add MIDI Learn, and I’d probably switch full time, even if is by begrudgingly signing up for the unfortunate subscription model that Apple has deployed here.

I love it but the export gives me trouble. Allot of times when I’m exporting files in m4a it wont give me the option of where i can share it and i gotta go searching that’s kinda the only thing id change

Great app, needs some explanation. I’m still unsure on how to quantize regions, bring in imported sounds/mp3 files, and if I can import plug-ins. Maybe all of this isn’t available yet, but maybe some demos would help to show what the iPad version can completely do.

App Claims I Have 2 GB of Storage Left. Just downloaded the app and I have a 512Gb with at least 400 GB available and it’s not letting me download any sound packs. Even when I start a new project it’s not letting me download anything, but I can record audio and it’s not complaining about space. What is going on?

A subscription. Really.. I was excited to download this when I first found out about it because it looked like a great *free* music producing app for iPad. Guess I was wrong. Instead of having a one-time purchase, the second I downloaded it, it said I needed a subscription. It literally didn’t say that anywhere until I downloaded it. Is there really I need to push a subscription on everything? 💀

Your dreams have come true. What more can you ask for. Perfect for creation on the go, creating sketches, and air dropping midi or audio back your Mac when you’re stationary. What a time to be alive!

No score view. An iPad with the pencil would be the perfect format to "write" out a score for several tracks in the idea stage. That can't be done on the computer with the pen. So the absence of the score editor in Logic Pro for iPad is a disappointment. I can't see how this logical utility in an iPad verson of Logic Pro would be overlooked.

Amazing debut!. This is one of the cleanest first versions I’ve seen in a while. The feature set, interface optimization and overall user experience is just awesome. With logic you get synths, amps, drum machines, professional audio plugins and everything you need for musical creation on your iPad, how cool is that? I would love to see flex pitch in a future update

Impressive. I’ve been using an iPad Pro since 2015. The killer app used to be Notion iOS, then AudioBus, AUM, Cubasis, StaffPad and Dorico. Now Logic for iPad is here and it’s good. Very good. Unlike Dorico for iPad, Logic isn’t an exact clone, (neither is Dorico really), but it has most of the features one needs on a day to day basis. Advanced features such as the Environment, Movie import and SMPTE syncing (among others), are saved for the MacOS version only, but I wouldn’t expect those to be here anyway, (although I could see movie import added someday). Pros: Mixer AUv3 instruments Keyboard Preset Browser Built-in instruments and plugins Cons: (not many) Vertical zooming for tracks (although windows have zooming and full screen zoom. Welcome to the iPad Logic!

Subscription. I would have bought in if there was a option to do so at a rational price. I am not getting into a subscription for a DAW when I have so many other choices and already own ones that don’t require a subscription. Reject subscriptions if you don’t want everything you buy to systematically drain your bank account. Just say no.

Hard to find specific auv3s. The fact that I have memorize the developer name of every single auv3, in order to find it in the list , is a ridiculous waste of time. When I add a new auv3 to a track I have to click on each developers name to view which plugins he or she has created. Instead of just searching for the auv3/plugin by name like in every other daw

All My Dreams. Right from the start.. I’m so ridiculously excited about finally having a one-stop-shop DAW with full capabilities, directly on my iPad. GarageBand has been an amazing liaison, but this… This is truly what I’ve been needing and craving as far as a digital recording, portable ecosphere. Thank you, Apple

Excellent but definitely needs a video reference. This is a great piece of software however I do believe a lot of people on ipad are content creators and would want to reference video in Logic to do sound design and audio to picture music syncing. This was one of the first tools I was looking for which I think is essential

just amazing. Lots of changes I could ask for, but bottom line is that this is the best example of a “pro” app on a tablet. Also one on the most expressive music tools I’ve ever used. I suppose desktop has all these features, but somehow the iOS interface allows me to deliver more music.

Crashes my iPad Pro. Alchemy crashes my iPad Pro 12.9" from a few years ago when I try to tweak the settinngs or play the instrument. Can't map my synth knobs to my MiDI controller. Interface of synths is barely worth a $1 download from some 3rd party. $5 a month gets you basically Garage Band for free. 15 years go, we had a Logic that could run and make hit tracks from a very weak computer compared to the iPad Pro I have. I expected it to have a lot simpler comtrols and ease of use. Not to mention not crash on a quad core machine, remember making hits on a Pentium 3?

Here’s my concern. I’m not a beat maker. The app doesn’t have the ability to import a two track beat or the multitrack from beats that I have purchased. So until it has that ability. Im canceling my subscription. I’ll stick to using it on my MacBook.

Can’t update Logic Pro. Usually when coming to the App Store when you click on an app, it either says get open or update. I do not have any option for updating Logic Pro for iPad. It only shows open and update does not happen. How do I get my paid subscription for logic, pro for iPad to update to the newest version? Please help.

I thought I found a unicorn. Loved it when I first started using it … then every few days either my music wouldn’t play, would sound off and distorted or simply be erased like not be there when I go to work on a saved song …

Subscription only is bad. Good enough app honestly after a quick test, I could see myself using it potentially. But the subscription only model is a complete no go. Carpenters buy their hammers after all. Thanks for the free trial but no thank you for your subscription only crap, and it’s insulting from apple. The problem with subscription only is I can no longer keep my iPad offline and use it as a separate device and expect the project to load 3 years. Charge a high price if you need but this is not cool. Not cool

High quality DAW to be sure…. but I really wish I could midi map the knobs on my midi player (Akai MPK mini) to either Logic effects or one of my many Auv3 effects. As of yet midi learn is not available for faders, knobs etc. That’s all I need to make my review five star.

Almost perfect. I have only been using this app for a few hours but it is pretty good apart from a few flaws. It is good for beginners. A problem I have is that I can’t switch between iPad and MacBook because I have different iCloud accounts for Mac and iPad. There also seems to be performance issues with older generation devices (I have a 9th gen iPad).

I’m on this DAW 24/7. Would be cool if y’all added more plugins like portal, shaperbox, Valhalla Vintage verb, and grossbeat. Also an option to be able to copy Melodie’s in piano roll and flip them horizontally and vertically to make it easier to reverse them.

Logic is great! There is still a few minor bugs but it still is an awesome music. There is still a few minor bugs but it still is an awesome music making tool :)

GAME-CHANGING. Finally! Apple has been safe guarding this app for only MacBook forever 😫 So glad that it’s finally on the iPad. My only concern is that I’ve paid $299 for Logic Pro X on my MacBook, and now on my iPad I have to pay again? Just to use something I’ve already paid for? Other than that I’m excited to see how it matches up against Logic for Mac

Amazing software GREEDY model. Just let me buy the darn thing. I’d pay full software price to own it. Subscription models make me weary with music software. Affordable for now, but what happens when years from now they no longer run the service? All your stems are locked behind an uncrossable paywall. This is a matter of archiving my music. I need future proof software. Subscription services are bad news for longevity. I want to be able to boot the thing up 10 years from now no issues- just think about it for a sec.

My Thoughts…. I’ve been using Logic Pro X (desk) top for a few years now Logic on IPAD In my option is a not good but great program Especially using it with Logic remote The subscription price a lot of folks are complaining about 40 and some changed is not that much

Powerful. I use ableton on pc. This feels pretty good for a mobile studio. Getting ideas down here takes more time so it won’t replace anything for me but it’s great to have for when I’m away.

Fix loading problem. Hey can fix this problem I’m having where I’m trying to load Hammond B-3X in to Logic Pro for IPad but it keeps saying Audio unit extension has quit unexpectedly I’m to load vb3m and Ravenscroft 275 with no problem but when I try to load Hammond B-3X I have this problem

Not so bad apple. This app has a lot to discover and it brings new ways to create songs. It doesn’t even feel like a iPad app anymore which is very cool. thank you for bringing Logic Pro to iPad.

Great!!!. I’m coming from using Reason Studios for years to this. & I have to say I am impressed with what you can do musically on an iPad. Never used the desktop version but THIS version has everything I need & more to create quality music. The midi clock is finicky at times when paired with my SP 404 MKII. I’m sure those kinks will be worked out. Good stuff!
