Shattered Pixel Dungeon Game Description & Overview

What is shattered pixel dungeon app? Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a traditional roguelike dungeon crawler RPG that's simple to get into but hard to master! Every game is a unique challenge, with six different heroes, randomized levels and enemies, and hundreds of items to collect and use. ShatteredPD is also updated with new content roughly every three months, so there's always something new.

◀ Choose Your Hero ▶
Each of ShatteredPD's six playable heroes has their own unique mechanics and gameplay style. Cut down foes as the durable Warrior or deadly Duelist, fry your enemies as the arcane Mage or divine Cleric, or use terrain to your advantage as the stealthy Rogue or the markswoman Huntress!

As you progress through the dungeon you'll earn points to spend on talents, choose a subclass, and gain powerful lategame abilities. You can turn the Duelist into a dual-wielding Champion, the Cleric into a righteous Paladin, the Huntress into a precise Sniper, or explore loads of other possibilities!

◀ Explore the Dungeon ▶
ShatteredPD's dungeon is procedurally generated with random layouts, room types, items, traps, and enemies. In each game you'll find equipment and collect or craft consumable items to power you up or help you out in a pinch. There is a huge variety to what you might see from run to run and region to region.

As you progress through the dungeon you'll find equipment that can be enchanted, upgraded, and augmented as you outfit your hero. Set foes ablaze with an enchanted weapon, wade through enemies with upgraded armor, or gain powerful damage, defensive, or utility benefits from one of the many magical wands, rings, artifacts, or trinkets.

◀ Succeed or Die Trying ▶
The Dungeon is filled with enemies, traps, hazards, and bosses intent on ending your run! Battle hostile wildlife in the sewers and caves, mad thieves and guards in the prison, occult servants in the fallen dwarven city, and maybe something even worse further down...

All these hazards can make the game quite tough, but don't be discouraged! You probably won't win on your first try, but there are many tricks and strategies to discover and learn on the path to getting your first win. Afterward, there are optional challenges and achivements if you want to put your skills to the test!

◀ Over A Decade in the Making ▶
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is an open source game based on the source code of Pixel Dungeon by Watabou (first released in late 2012). It started in 2014 as a project to rebalance Pixel Dungeon but has steadily grown into its own game over the last 10 years!

• Over 300 items including equipment, consumables, and items crafted via alchemy.
• 5 dungeon regions, 26 floors, over 100 room types, and trillions of possible floor layouts.

• 9 stackable challenges and over 100 achievements for completionists.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon Comments & Reviews 2026

From “Ugh, phone games” to “I can’t stop playing Shattered Pixel Dungeon”. Let me set the scene: My husband downloaded this game years ago—like, somewhere between “fidget spinners were still cool” and “TikTok wasn’t yet a thing.” He’d rave about this free little dungeon crawler on his phone, and as a lifelong gamer, I’d roll my eyes and mutter something about “real games having controllers.” Fast forward to now. For years he’s played it off and on, never really obsessed—until recently. Suddenly he’s in deep. I’d catch him mumbling about armor, scrolls, and potions like he was training to be a pixelated wizard. So this weekend, I was bored and decided to give it another shot on his phone. I think I made it to level 3 and died… oh, about 20 times. I had no idea what I was doing—but I couldn’t stop playing. The dungeon had me. So, I caved. I downloaded it myself. It cost me five dollars. FIVE. Was it worth it? Absolutely. 100%. Buy it. Shattered Pixel Dungeon is one of those rare games that feels simple at first but keeps surprising you the more you play. It’s challenging, strategic, funny in its own punishing way, and so satisfying when you finally make progress. It’s the perfect blend of “just one more run” and “how is it 2am already?” Moral of the story: listen to your spouse. Sometimes, they do know what they’re talking about.

I never write reviews. After spending $60,000 on Diablo immortal, $30,000 on Mu Immortal or whatever it’s called, $10,000 on Infinite Lagrange and $80,000 on summoners war, it’s disappointing to discover that this $5 game is better than all of them and more fun. Games where whoever is the richest with the most disposable income are boring. Trust fund babies and people with a liquidity of $10M + will always be the king in those games. Get this, beat it. You will have fun and feel accomplished. After four or five days I beat it with an assassin rogue, got a plate +2 early. Learn the alchemy recipes and learn to use line of sight. Save all your potions because you will need them on the boss fight. You can alchemy a potion of strength to take two strength requirement off any weapon or armor.

Finally a successor to Cardinal Quest 2!. This is a fantastic TRUE roguelike game. Just brutal enough to keep you coming back for more. Highly recommend well worth the cost with all the replay ability! If I had to nitpick I’d say it could be just a smidge mire streamlined. There are lots of changing variables which is great for replays but sometimes I wish I just knew what did what. And the seeds are a feature that’s ok but feels a bit unnecessary. But truly these are minor nitpicks this game is a real Gem and you can tell it’s a labor of love. Major Props Dev (Devs?)

If I could give more stars I would. Without a doubt Pixel Dungeon is one of the greatest mobile games out there. Shattered adds to the experience even more. I've been playing this game ever since it came out, as well as the original pixel dungeon back in 2012, across multiple devices and 100%'d on all my phones. I'm more than happy to support the developer (who has continued to add new features to the game over the of span of nearly 10 years). If you're remotely interested in roguelikes you won't find a better experience on mobile than this.

The only phone game I play. Used to play the original pixel dungeon and loved it more than any other mobile game. Always felt like a heartfelt and genuine experience. It uninstalled itself the other day and I was dismayed to see it was “no longer available on the App Store”. I did a quick search for it to be sure and found this, the new version I didn’t know existed! It was an instant buy. Typing this as I go through my first play through and I’m already loving the improvements and innovations built off of the original. Best app ever. Keep up the good work.

A healthy and fair RNG game.. Even though the foundation of this game is rolling a dice with every action (besides moving and even then, hidden things) it gives you plenty of tools to balance it out. It has a lot of items, combinations and play styles, you are not sure if the rogue you started with will turn out a brawler, a mage or a classic assassin. Challenges really up the difficulty in a fair way if you like limit testing yourself, and makes you appreciate every game mechanic and item you come across to boost your success chances. It will be hard for starters, but once you get the hang of it you’ll see how fun this game is. It forces you to think and to improvise!

I punched God in the face. This game isn’t for the faint of heart. I have started over a 185 times and I haven’t won once. On average expect to spend 1-3 hours on a play though once you routinely start getting to the lower stratum. PACE YOURSELF. This game is not a rush in and face the hordes survival. It’s a game of caution and determination. Remember that “people die when they are killed” there’s no save button, there’s no reloading, you get one chance to make it to the final boss and when you do. Make sure to punch that fallen God right in the eye.

If it’s too hard that’s a skill issue. A lot of people have complained that the game is boring and that is to hard I keep getting the same stuff, but most of that is simply false the game does start out hard but the more you learn about the game and its mechanics, the easier it is to play. this game is not boring. If you find this game boring you either don’t like rouge-likes, or you simply haven’t seen that after you win the first time you can make enable challenges some easy and some very very hard. This game is a little luck dependent I won’t lie, but saying things like you see the same item over and over is simply not something that can happen, because each of the dungeons are randomly generated, unless you play on a specific seed.

Too hard. Too frustrating. There is no fun in repeating levels 1-2 a thousand times. I loved games like this as a teenager. Rogue, Angband, all the clones. And this is a faithful one. So props for that. But it’s just too hard. You die too easily. And I’m older now. I know it isn’t necessary to lose all progress. And it’s not rewarding to lose all progress either. Yeah it’s fine to have a learning curve. But there’s just no point in not being able to save at least occasionally if you are going to create a game with purposeful balance issues and a reliance on randomness. So five stars for making a good clone. One star for making a game that ticks you off and you put down after a few days and never pick up again. The price point doesn’t even frustrate me. I’m willing to pay. I want something rewarding of hard effort. Not something that just frustrates me. So let’s average it out at 3 stars. If you are a hardcore fan of something that will frustrate most people beyond belief then this game is definitely for you. I know there’s a few out there. Dwindling every minute. “Here lies me, killed by frustration. Or a rat. Again. Holding a bunch of unidentified cursed potions, scrolls and items. Again. RIP”.

SERIOUSLY TOP TEIR GAME WITH A HIGH LEARNING CURB. Update, would be a dope idea to add scrolls of transmutation to all shops. They can be a bit far and few between. Update, the “loading screen” i hope is an intro to each area. Another dope idea could be to use the floor symbols in conjunction with the screen to provide more info to players. Like for example with the secret room floor it could show something similar but hinting at hidden things. Haven’t gotten past the first floor of my current play yet but i just wanted to say please keep it up. That addition made me smile today. You are doing a great job

Low reviews are just whining. I’ve been playing this game for around seven years, beaten it dozens of times with every different class and subclass in the game, and I can’t help but be amused by all the one star reviews complaining about the game being too hard. It’s a very challenging game, but that’s because it relies heavily on strategy, and paying close attention to always optimize your situations, knowing what to risk and what to avoid, etc. Every single aspect of the game has different tactics and strategies to maneuver, and most of it you end up learning for yourself. It’s an incredible game, but it takes quite some work and practice to get good at.

Great but with one critique. I love this game, it has a great premise and has amazing mechanics that make it the best mobile roguelite I’ve ever played. That being said my critique is on the length of each run. I think the runs go on for a bit too long and it’s not satisfying to have to come back to a game so many times to finish one. It also makes it feel really bad when you lose a run to a mistake, as it takes a very long time to get back to where you were. For a game that rewards patience and resource management, you get really punished for rushing to try to finish a game faster. With the consistent updates on the game, I think a long term goal of slowly making the game faster would be amazing and solve my sole complaint about the game. Thank you so much. Update! The dev decreased level lengths by a considerable amount and I would argue it is the perfect length now. Thank you so much, my love for this game has been reignited, and I'm back to runs again! Seriously I’ve never seen a game so focused on and loved by its dev before, constant updates and promise of new content make this game a must have. Please try it out!

Amazing. This game truly is amazing. It’s somehow simple and complex at the same time. It exercises the mind. From trying to find efficient ways to progress thru the dungeon, to using every part of ur inventory ti the fullest. Utilizing alchemy to progress, and finding unique ways to deactivate traps and defeat enemies makes the game a real brain teaser. One thing I would absolutely love is a multiplayer feature. I would literally pay to be able to play with my friends that play the game as well. So here’s asking the dev to add a multiplayer function

Very cool! Great addition to reg PD.. I’ve played regular old PD for a long time and have always wanted more from it. I eventually found out that PD can be played on pc, but I was disappointed because I didn’t have a pc to play it on. I found out from a quick internet search that shattered PD was the best option for a more fun and interesting PD. I’m so glad Evan decided to put shattered PD on mobile because I’ve never been able to play it as I don’t have a pc. This game is seriously fun, and I’ve only been playing it for like 20 mins. I haven’t found any gripes yet about the game, but I will be sure to leave another review if I do. Thanks Evan! - Henry

Epic. I love the original pixel dungeon, and have played multiple different versions people have put out from the open source. I last played shattered PD years ago and thought it was great, but I am in awe of how much they’ve done with the game to present… like wow. The amount of improvement since I’ve played it is incredible. From level design and class mechanics, to the expansion of item usage and ability upgrades. There’s so much to do, and I have barely scratched the surface so far. It’s exciting discovering what they’ve put in, and I find something new every playthrough The game was already amazing… this is next level. Take note developers… this is how you do it.

Replayable Classic Worth Every Penny!. I’m a middle aged guy who generally likes strategy games. Roguelikes as I understand the genre have always frustrated me because I don’t like playing with the intention of dying just so I can be good enough for a future run. It’s an artificial way to increase replay value. I would much rather have a game with great depth and breadth. Shattered PD has that. People who complain may want a simpler game requiring less mental investment which is fine. It’s not that I would call PD mentally taxing- just that to successfully make a run you need to understand what is ahead of you and have an idea of what combinations of upgrades to make and items to keep. And what’s so awesome is that there are so many ways to play. Just and example- there a common puzzle room with three piranhas. The piranhas have high evasion, frequent attack speed and hit pretty hard. Here are just a couple ways to deal with it- levitation potion, wand of blast wave to push them out of the water, ethereal chains to yank them out, indirect fire from wands, throwing weapons or bow and arrow, longer reach weapons like the whip… etc You can play how you like- indirect sniper, tanky warrior, sneaky rogue, wizard with lots or just a few wands, duelist with special abilities based on the weapon and a new cleric class coming. And each class has two subclasses with further specialization and another opportunity for an end game special ability. Buy it, read the wiki and or watch some play throughs if you don’t have patience, or just play play play and have fun.

Beats the Original. I don’t know the history of PD too much, with the first one being made by another guy seemingly and this one coming out some time afterwards, but let me tell you once thing I know for sure : People complaining that this game is too hard have obviously never played the original. This new one is still fairly difficult, requiring smart usage of your resources to get far, but it is far less unfair than the original. You can get far in this game with just your smarts and making good decisions, where late game was only promised in the original if you were incredibly lucky. Literally superior to the original game in every way I can think of.

Excellent *True* Roguelike. These days, it seems like almost every single game in the App Store claims to be a roguelike. In truth, there are very few real roguelikes available. There are some that offer one or two roguelike features, but precious few deliver the full package. Even fewer do it well. This is one of the best so far. Turn based gameplay, procedurally generated levels, permadeath, a good variety of enemies, items with unknown properties that must be discovered, this game contains all of the hallmarks of a full-featured roguelike wrapped in an easy to use, intuitive touch interface. And it’s also fun. Pay no attention to the people complaining that it’s too hard. It’s a roguelike, they’re supposed to be hard. Play this game, and you will die. A lot. And then you will have to restart from the beginning. A lot. And every time, you will learn something that might help you make it a bit farther next time. Or maybe not. But eventually you will get all the way to the end. And probably die. If that doesn’t appeal to you, maybe roguelikes aren’t your thing. That’s ok, there are plenty of easier games for iOS. Maybe Cookie Clicker would be a better fit. Or maybe one of the hundreds of JRPGs, twin-stick shooters, action platformers, MOBAs, Diablo clones, card battlers, tower defenses, and match 3 games out there that all claim to be roguelikes may be what you’re looking for. That’s cool, no judgement here. But if you, like me, enjoy a true roguelike game, this one might be right up your alley. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not nearly as deep or complex as NetHack. Not even close. But it scratches the same itch while having controls much better suited to a mobile device, without sacrificing the core gameplay elements that define the genre. And did I mention it’s fun? Highly recommended.

Wonderful Game with Tons of Replayability. This game is worth every penny. For only costing $5, you get some serious hours of gameplay. Five different heroes, each with different sub-classes and talents that let you play with a lot of combinations along with a massive library of dungeon layouts means each run is a surprise. Also, the developer is truly dedicated to following up on the game with more than just bug fixes. He regularly introduces new mechanics, items, class changes, etc. so the game seems to never get stale. Some people have mentioned they feel the game is tough and they aren’t wrong. If you’re familiar with rogue-like games, you should know you’re going to die a lot more often than you’ll actually complete the dungeon. It’s kind of integral to rogue-like games. In my opinion, it makes it all the more rewarding when you do actually complete a run! And probably my favorite thing about the game: NO ADS OR IN GAME PURCHASES! It’s five bucks and then you’re not bothered anymore or have to “pay to win” like so many games on the App Store.

Everything a Mobile Game Should Be. For those who are new or unacquainted with the Pixel Dungeon variety of games, go into this game expecting nothing but with patience, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Evan, Shattered PD’s developer, has developed his version of this game into a well-balanced, fun, complicated yet easily understandable and satisfying game to play at any time: whether you have five minutes or an hour, Pixel Dungeon is the game to play. The game, being a dungeon crawler, perhaps isn’t what most mobile games are nowadays, but the intensity and replay-ability of this game is one that isn’t found among most. The developer himself is everything a consumer could ask for. He explains every single change he makes in the game, such as why he’s changed the spawn rate of an enemy based on data or tweaked the damage of a certain weapon in the early stages of the game. Every update adds more playability, and makes the game more fun. I’ve put hundreds of hours into this game between shifts, late at night, waking up in the morning, and everything in between. It is a wonderful stress reliever, mind exerciser, and, sometimes, time stealer. I wholeheartedly recommend that even those with no experience of this kind of game try it.

The Only Game. This game has fulfilled my need for punishing dungeon crawling. It’s like a pixelated Dark Souls, with witty dialogue that harkens back to my favorite RPGs. As a person that will spend years learning a game, replaying it hundreds of times, I had no idea what I was getting into, and when I finally looked up Shattered gameplay after losing hundreds of times in the first level, the game unfolded like a flower unfurled with the stinger of a bee. There is more than levels to the depth to this game, with alchemy being much deeper than you first notice, and by the time you figure it out, there are more and more layers of the game to perfect.

A major upgrade to the original. Let’s be honest, the original had some serious balance issues. Even for a roguelike, the difficulty was absolutely crushing, leaving a players at the mercy of RNG. Underneath these balance issues, however, was a very solid game with fun risk mechanics. This version/sequel has addressed the difficulty problems. You won’t be getting murked by a crab two rooms into the first floor. That will probably happen around level 5. This is the game the original so wanted to be. If you’re a fan of rogue likes you’re going to enjoy this game.

Best Paid Game App. It’s the perfect blend of being entertaining while also remaining a mobile app. Unlike a lot of other mobile apps, they either get boring quick or there’s so much on the app that you feel like it would be better suited as a controller type game. I’ve played this game ever since it first came out as regular Pixel Dungeon and I love how it is still getting updates. It has just the right amount of fun to keep you entertained for a while and also keeping you entertained for a long time. I recommend it highly.

Great game, so we’ll done. This game is so much fun. The developer has put so much thought into how the game works and how much fun it is. There is so much depth and so many things to discover. I’ve played so many games in my life and I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen a rogue like with the complexity and balance. The game is hard and you are going to die. But keep playing. The more you learn the more power is on tap for you to use. This is not a game that you will get bored of in 10 minutes. This is a game that you can pick up and play for a few minutes or a few hours. There is so much here that you will come back for more over and over again. I don’t see getting tired of this for a long time.

A Game Like Fine Wine. There is so much content, nuance and fine detail in this game that even after 15 years and thousands of playthroughs I’m still discovering new things. You will die, often, when you first start out. Like some of the people who have left negative reviews, you might find yourself frustrated and thinking “this is impossibly unbalanced and difficult.” You might want to give up on the game. DON’T. I promise wholeheartedly that this is one of the most balanced games in existence. There is a bonafide skill ceiling and it is high enough to make this a game worthy of thousands of hours of playtime. This game has significantly more content than most AAA games out there. That content isn’t handed to you on a silver platter though. You need to learn, discover, experiment, and pay close attention to how each move you make matters immensely. Some tips when you’re starting out: •You can surprise attack enemies anytime they don’t have vision of you right before you attack. This means that you can aggro an enemy, walk until they are standing in a doorway (that was close when you entered), and you get a 100% chance to land a hit with bonus damage. Snakes hate doors as much as you’ll hate snakes. •Save your food if you have health to spare. If you’re starving and at full health, don’t eat until it drops a bit, especially if you are in any kind of safe position. •Seeds are strong as heck, but you need to think about how/when to use them. Is an enemy doing way too much damage to you haven’t found armor yet? Plant a seed of earthroot (brown) and then tap yourself to trigger it. You’ll take one hit and then have enough armor to tank the rest. Starving and low on health, but have a green seed? Don’t eat, instead go to the first room of a new floor (no random enemies), plant the seed, and stand in place on it. Hold the wait button to fall asleep, and you’ll heal faster than starving hurts you. Get to full health and wait for it to drop a little before eating.

Love/hate this game. First off, I love the way it plays, its combat is simple yet phenomenal. It’s “hard”, but the reality is that it requires way more luck than it does skill. I’ve tried countless builds, but no matter how lucky I get with drops, I can’t get beyond floor 16. I even had one run that I didn’t even get a single healing potion (including dew drops) for the first 3 floors because I got unlucky with the floor types; I got great weapons and strength upgrades, and I was doing great, and then it felt as if I got punished for something I had no control over (welcome to the real world, right fellas?). I want to be able to read more of the lore and see the deeper levels of the dungeon, but the enemies on the floor after the boss are far more difficult to manage than the previous boss. Unfortunately I don’t see that happening since there’s no difficulty setting. I get that it’s supposed to be a challenging game, but there’s a huge difference between difficulty and luck. A difficulty setting would make this 5 stars.

Great game!. For those of you who even know what Nethack is, this is a pretty good modernization of that game. While, in my opinion, nothing will ever trump the original Nethack, this does come close to that feeling. Randomized potions, scrolls, wands, dungeon levels. Replayability is the best part of this game. What absolutely baffles me though, is the lack of an option to have a D-pad. In a game where every single move can matter, and one wrong move can lead to you taking a hit that will kill you. Navigating through narrow corridors can be painstaking when you accidentally tap somewhere you didn’t mean to go, and end up circling around somewhere. Or end up moving in a fight when you meant to attack, an take a hit without giving one, putting you behind in the fight. I will most definitely change this to a five star game, which it can be, if this gets changed. Having the option to enable a D-pad for single movement at a time, while holding the direction to keep going, I feel should be essential to a game like this

Amazing game that still receives frequent updates. I’ve been playing Shattered Pixel Dungeon for years, and to this day, it still keeps impressing me. Whether it’s the steady updates that expand on the game in meaningful ways, the endless amount of builds available to make, or the lack of traditional, predatory microtransactions most mobile games are plagued with, this is a game you can’t go wrong with. I feel pretty comfortable calling this one of the best mobile games to ever be released, and for $5, it’s worth every penny.

Miss the OG but an EXCELLENT successor. I really do miss the original PD, when I upgraded my phone I was unable to play it since it was no longer available in the AppStore, out of pure nostalgia I decided to give this one a shot and ngl it’s actually really good, the differences are notable obviously but I like what they’re doing by adding they’re own twist to the game while maintaining its core. For me this is one of those end all be all of mobile games, it’s the one game I know wont disappoint and will keep me entertained in moments of boredom. If u got the $5 to spare, spring it on this game. Thanks Devs for keeping this game alive👍

Really great game. I can't describe how intricate every single aspect of this game's mechanics are. To the way the different items interact with each other to the different strategies you're able to go about beating the whole thing. One complaint I see often is that it's a really hard game however I just think this is part of the experience and you learn more and more ways to learn and improve as you play in order to win consistently while trying out new play styles. Yes the games last long but that's the beauty of it, you don't have to play the whole game outright in one sitting. I usually play at the gym, after work, or while I'm doing some boring time consuming task. All in all, great game and I don't have any complaints about it at all since you can tell the developer really wanted to turn this into something special.

Massively Improved Gameplay. I’ve played the original on multiple devices and I had the opportunity to play the beta of this hame before it came out officially. I have to say that the updates to this game over the previous versions and the original game are so much better. It’s still a difficult game, so if you’re looking for the challenge that the first game presented, you’ll find it here. The addition of secondary inventory’s and having the items sorted is welcomed over the normal pile of stuff you usually find in other games like this. There are still some bugs here and there, but nothing game-breaking as far as I have found.

Changes for the better!. Has become an awesome game. New effects and increased bug fixes have helped immensely. Game play is much more reliable. Character classes are better now too. New items and artifacts have been implemented. You’ll die a lot though. Oh and they have not addressed why your Armor rating tanks and is near zero, when your HP is low. For some reason and the devs have only told me that there is no mechanic for this, when your HP is low, your AC is low or near zero. In other words, you could be sporting plate, male armor, tier 5 gear, that is +6, and if you’re on level three of the dungeon, you will be killed by an enemy there if you hit points are low. In case you’re not sure what that means, you could have the highest level armor in the game and a very high bonus to that armor on a level far inferior to that armor, but because your points are low, you will die lol regardless of that. So for some reason, hit points go down your AC goes down and that’s a problem because you get used to relying on the armor and the level of where you are playing on. it’s a tactics thing and theirs no explanation. How this would impact you, is there are many hazards in the game that will do damage regardless of your armor class or the type of armor you’re using but to engage in enemy that’s a second level skeleton with the highest level armor in the game and be killed by that skeleton just seems ludicrous. And there is no explanation for that apparently. Creates unfair advantage for the enemies of the game and you end up feeling like rules go out the door whenever your hip points go low. Otherwise a very fun game.

Probably the best game on play store.. I’ve been playing shattered pixel dungeon for 2 years. Apparently im pretty bad at the game but the drive to beat it once(im told there’s no real end) keeps me coming back. The randomness of items you never know what you’re getting. SPDungeon is still in development so even in those two years it’s been majorly updated for the better 2 times. The developer is always letting us know what they’re working on. I can’t praise this game more. In short it’s the hardest, fun, unrelenting, and amazing game I’ve played on mobile.

Refreshing take on a classic. I’ve been a huge fan of pixel dungeon and have played most of the available iterations on the play store. I’ve probably played thousands of attempts and only won a handful. Shattered pixel dungeon is the most thought out and balanced version of the game I’ve ever played. The addition of the skill tree and more complex alchemy allow for compelling replay-ability. The developer removed the dominance of the “chance” factor by allowing the user to customize characters and utilize resources in completely new ways. Pulling that off while maintaining the randomness of potions scrolls and maps is impressive. I’ve seen this game evolve and this iteration seems like the natural conclusion. Don’t play shattered pixel dungeon as your introduction to this game or you will be disappointed and dissatisfied by the other versions.

perfect pocket play. Tried the game on steam and thought it’d make a perfect on-the-go session. This version is some minor updates behind but the implemention and fidelity for what’d you’d want on touchscreen control is intuitive and seamless. If you’re a fan of old school Rouge and it’s many likes this is an incredibly streamlined take on the genre while maintaining the depth for addictive replayability that’s perfects for pick up and play for short or long runs. No paywalls or ads, just pure old school gameplay.

Great Old School Challenge. Your goal is to make good decisions and take advantage of the game’s mechanics - some of which you’ll have to discover and master on your own - to maximize your chance of surviving. As you practice and learn you’ll reduce the impact bad RNG will have on your run. Even so, sometimes even that won’t do it and near perfect play will still result in a loss. Thems the breaks. Some players might find that frustrating, so you have to understand the genre of game this is and have the right mindset. This is the literal definition of a Rogue-like (down to retrieving the Amulet!), and if you’ve used that term in the past but you’re unsure what it really *really* means you should give this game a try.

The Perfect Mobile Roguelike. What more is there to say about this upgrade to pixel dungeon? It’s more well balanced and has far more depth in it’s gameplay mechanics. This game does nothing crazy like other roguelikes, such as strange gimmicks or ideas of working towards potent upgrades to persist across play-throughs! Instead, shattered pixel dungeon refines the core gameplay loop of gathering knowledge and building up intrinsic skill and gives the player the ability to learn it’s complexities at their own pace. It gives you all the knowledge necessary to succeed, and it’s always up to you to conquer the challenges it places ahead of you. Thus, doing so is genuinely satisfying, and achieving mastery over the dungeon is a goal that will drive you to play ever more. It’s a mastapiece!

Is a deep roguelike in a mobile app possible?. Wow, the developer has soooo many thoughtful UI innovations that offer the complexity I crave in a deep roguelike, with a *clean* mobile UI. Like extra contextual shortcuts placed only when necessary. Proper, consistent popups. Innovative new inventory system that offers the space needed for a deep roguelike, with balance & simplicity required for mobile. I have died a little more often than I would like, though not nearly as frustrating as NetHack. New systems and discoveries are introduced in a fun way, which I love. I can’t say enough for the thoughtfulness of this devs UI design. Definitely worth the price of admission, even for a stingy economist like me.

I never write reviews but,. This is easily the best and most engaging app i’ve ever played. It’s got tons of lore, the difficulty and seeming randomness makes it’s endlessly enticing even after dying. I’ve played 88 games probably 20-30 hours in and only gotten to level 19 and the third boss. Seriously played clash royale for years, clash of clans, battle brawlers, ad games, BTD, plague, game pigeon, zeronia, nothing even comes close. I actually haven’t found a game that mimics the brilliance and idea, I recognize certain aspects across all games but this one is just OG. also no ads ir things to buy which is awesome for me 😂

Definitely worth it. Honestly one of the best mobile games that I have ever come across, it can seem a little bit expensive, but trust a random stranger on the internet when I say that you will definitely get your money’s worth, the game is still being updated, and so there should be some new features coming, there are a few cons to it,( but from where I’m standing it one of the best parts of the game) and that is the fact that is very hard, a lot can depend on luck, but there is also a whole bunch of strategy when it comes to winning. That’s all I wanted so say, and I am very satisfied with my purchase

Great stuff. The best traditional roguelike on iOS. It's obvious from the start: this developer really cares about the details of a well-designed dungeon crawl. I love the discovery based onboarding process. The game mechanics are not overwhelming, yet allow for interesting choices as you make your way down to collect Rodney's doodad. I was a Testflight player, and loved how this game came together. Fast forward a few years to now, and I am floored by how much more work has been put in to make this amazing game even better.

One of my absolute favorites!. It’s an amazing game! I’ve been playing it for a long time now, and it never gets old. I helped Beta test it, and I pre-ordered it a week ago! It’s level of depth, complexity, and beautiful retro pixel art make you want to wander the dungeons forever! Tons of weapons, monsters, magic and more, each level will always be different. As a long time D&D Dungeon Master, I enjoy this game daily. It’s turn-based action lets you pause whenever. Always new content and bug fixes, means that you can count on never getting a stale experience. However, it can feel highly discouraging after reaching high levels, with tons of epic gear and items, only to die, and start back in the sewers with little but a water skin and a knife. Keep in mind that is what gives this game its replay ability! Thanks! Have a good one and stay safe.

Feels like it never really improved…. Second boss encounter is straight up garbage. How are you going to make a boss encounter thats based around A ROOM OF TRAPS but also make the boss capable of dodging 9 hits in a row… games not worth even 1$. I had both upgraded armor and weapon, ton of potions and scrolls. Then the second encounter is a AOE COMBAT ROOM??? And dont even get me started on the level progression, clear entire floor but 1 dangerous area, try to funnel enemies for better enounter, high level enemy still spawns behind me and screws me over. EVERY TIME. No matter how good you are geared, no matter how much you have identified, no matter how experienced you are. You WILL be screwed over somehow. I would dismiss this if it hadnt happened 4 times without fail. This game has had years of tweaking and still seems like it has no real progress or true direction. Be better. Also skeletons explode for damage? Who thought that was a good idea? Yeah totally make it so that theres infinite spawning enemies but also make it possible for those enemies to do repeat damage on death. Smooth. Seriously, be better.

It’s just not fun.. Hey- props to the devs for making a game that is certainly challenging and lets you relive the ‘Nethack’ experience, with a bit more than ASCII characters. However this game is just frustrating. In most cases you’re dependent on what you randomly get. Didn’t get enough food? Die of starvation. This alone is ok, but if the randomizer doesn’t supply enough food, you’re done. I would’ve even thought that for everything those stupid seeds do one of them would feed you. Doesn’t that make sense? You grow something that you could eat? There are no potions that feed you either. I don’t think I’ve ever played an RPG that doesn’t give you full health when you level up. Is that so hard? I don’t know how many times I made it to level 15 or more and just got so ganged up on all of a sudden that I had to start over. And over. And over. Would it be so hard to make a version that you can continue with? And then maybe have a hard-core version for everyone else that likes to be tortured? For all the selections of RPG’s that are available now on mobile, the frustration that this one creates just isn’t worth it. I respect the fact that the game is made to be relentless, but starting over again, and again, and again is just not fun. Moving on.

Last updates are inaccessible for me. I’ve been playing this game for a few years and while I’m overall happy with the game, this might be the point at which I stop playing it. The UI changes and random targeting added have made the interaction and quick slot buttons smaller and force character movement—when I’m going to hit or utilize a button and miss, I’m clicking on the map half the time and the other half of the time I’m hitting quick swap and hitting something empty and then move my character by accident to a random point. I have joint issues. This is unplayable for me now :/

Amazing game - Lots of Replayability. This is the best roguelike I’ve ever played however the sound doesn’t work at all on my ipad or iphone. This happens with the original PD as well but has never happened with any other game or app. It’s still a great game but not being able to hear anything is a real bummer. Edit: I’m a dummy. My phone was indeed in silent mode. I totally forgot there was a little switch on the side. Anyway thank you for all the amazing work you’ve put into building upon PD. And thank you for finally updating the music lol. My dream list for new features would be a new game + mode or an endless dungeon mode. I find that although the talent system and armor upgrade mechanics are great, the game is almost over by the time I’m using them. Still a 5 star game. 👍

Excellent roguelike experience.. I’ve been playing SPD for about a year (with 2 previous years on vanilla) and Evan has done an excellent job of making well-ingrained additions to the original PD - removing some of the most annoying experiences including degradation works wonders and makes you want to play over and over again. It’s always enjoyable to discover patterns in how the dungeon works, and there is always the help section in the game if you want to use it. Easily my favorite mobile game. 5 stars.

One of the best apps I have ever played. Shattered pdf is an insanely fun roguelike that I recommend to anyone who like more intense games. Every feature in this game has been polished to give the player as much freedom as possible, and every artifact or ring can be used differently each run. The randomly-generated roguelike style combined with the five unique classes adds enough replayability to the point that I have spend dozens and dozens of hours playing this game with different challenges and restrictions. Although you will initially die pretty often, every death feels fair as you could have approached encounters in a different way to increase your chance of survival. The only note I have for this game is that high amounts of challenges can make the game overly difficult (especially faith is my armor), so be prepared for that.

One of the best games on the App Store. Been playing this for years now, and I’m surprised to see that this game has gotten little attention for what it is. This rogue-like mobile game offers has everything from randomly generated floors to actual lore, including an array of items, weapons, and abilities that give the player a variety of options in trying strategies that can help them reach the end of the game. Even after thousands of games, the infinite possibilities and perfectly crafted difficulty scaling on top of challenges constantly has me coming back for more. This is the best $5 I’ve ever spent.

Best Game Ever, thank you developers. I’ve been playing this game since I was 12 on my kindle and now I’m playing it on my I phone at 22. I loved the game then and my love for the game has only grown, I would recommend this game to anyone, and if you’re not enjoying it you’re doing something wrong in the game or just with your life because I would die for this game. Again thank you developers for continuing to make new content and always updating, I appreciate y’all so much and feel like I grew up with y’all even tho I don’t know a single one of you. Much love, and continue being awesome. -Samuel Salas

V Good. I impulse bought this and do not regret it. Easy to learn and pickup but also difficult to get deeper in the dungeon which keeps me going

This goes hard. Was looking for something on mobile like Dungeon of Dredmor and found it! Kudos to the developer, I find myself playing this all the time!

Please add controller support!. It would make the game perfect

Way too difficult to enjoy the game. I know it is a rogue like game but death comes to easily within 2-3 minutes of playing the game. Come on, make permanent death optional otherwise there is no point starting the game from fresh over and over and over again! Lots of potential but let down massively with having to restart the question every couple of minutes. If this is not fixed I will have no choice to delete this game

Crazy deep!. Loving this Roguelike, has depth.

addictive and fun. This is a great little hack and slash dungeon crawler. Heaps of fun and very addictive. Don't buy it if you have anything important you should be working on. 😅

Love it. The perfect rouge-like game for iOS with an active developer. Please make permadeath optional. As an example, death instead reset progress back to start of that level.

Could not let my GF beat me. i first downloaded this game years ago. I played it for a few days and couldnt get past floor 3. i thought the game was broken and deleted it, but not before showing my girlfriend as she has been a long time player of nethack. a few days pass and I catch her playing shattered pixel dingeon and i notice she is on level 20 something. She had been loving the game as it was a perfect pocket version of Nethack (which gave her a bit of an advantage). realising the game was not indeed busted (i was), i quickly redownloaded the game and starter practicing. we have since both beaten the game many times, each have our fav heroes, and always read the developers posts, eagerly awaiting the new updates! this has been our go to game for years now on our phones and we cannot recommend enough!

Great game but battery-hungry. I’ve just downloaded this game and I’m already addicted… but is there something going on with the latest patch? It’s chewing through my battery life like a deranged piranha. Surely that’s not normal?

endlessly replayable. This game is well balanced and has many angles. Every game is different; not only because of the different character classes, but also many of the items lead to entirely different play styles. The artifacts, the wands, the rings, the seeds…. You will die many times before you complete the quest, but I assure you it can be done. It took me about 400 games before I first got the amulet and “won”. Then once you think you’re pretty good at it, there are challenges, which changes it all again. There are some very helpful online communities, with people who know so much about shattered pixel it’s scary. I can’t imagine how much time they have sunk into it. I have wasted far too much time on this game, but that’s not the game’s fault. That’s on me. It’s addictive.

Hard to put down, great game. Good challenge, great variety.

The perfect iPhone game exists!. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but my hand is killing me! I am playing this game so much my hand hurts holding my phone for this long!! Honestly more game developers especially for the platform need to look at this game to see how you can make deep interesting games on the iPhone! I’ve wanted a game like this for so long on the iPhone. There are obviously other RL’s but none manage the balance needed to create an accessible but challenging game for the iPhone! Seriously top job!

The best rogue-like out there. I first played Rogue ascii style in the late 80s, and almost 40 years later Shattered Pixel Dungeon has reminded me how fun these games can be. Far superior to the original Pixel Dungeon, this version should be a no-brainer purchase and should bring you endless dungeon runs full of loot and death. Enjoy!

Great game. Upfront price, great twist on dungeon crawling, and stable and optimised!!

classic rpgs live!!!. I spent my whole life trying to recreate the excitement of finding Castle of the Winds on a 3.5 floppy disk at school. Finally, my life is complete

Great game. Great game! Worth every penny!

Exactly what I was after. Cheers Evan, you made a great game. - Offline playable - straightforward but in-depth - lotta fun Check it out.

fun!. enjoying this nethack like game!

Time sink. It’s amazing Missing my Anniversary just to play this

The BEST Rogue Remake on iOS!!!. I had played Pixel Dungeon for years prior to this release, which I was curious as to the name. This history of this (and its predecessor) is fascinating and worth pointing to Oleg Dolya, Evan Debenham and the Pixel Dungeon community. After purchasing and on first play of Shattered Pixel Dungeon, I felt that old aesthetic and the unforgiving nature of this perfectly crafted rogue/rogue-like. It felt massively improved, from better ways to identify unknown items, to a truly random experience each play-through. Some new plays seem like there’s items everywhere, while others seem sparsely populated; which you have to expect in a random dungeon. I think the addition of a Cleric would however be a welcome addition, but otherwise it ticks all the boxes and surpasses most if not all of the Rogue-likes i have played on iOS.

Great game but missing sound effect on IOS system. Hopefully this can get updated

Good fun hard game. Just spent the last day or two figuring out how the game works. This is game is hard but rewarding when you get further than you did before. You can play in little 5-15minute bursts, die, then try again later. Worth it!

A more enjoyable and refreshing roguelike. Better than the original version of pixel dungeon, this version fills the roguelike itch and it is incredibly well done for a mobile roguelike experience.

Pixel Dungeon. Not used to the one life but so fun!

what an amazing game. i had pixel dungeon like 8 years ago and i loved it so much and i was so glad to be able to find it again. easiest 5 stars i’ll ever give

Perfect game. This game has a clear vision and executes it perfectly. It’s clearly a work of love.

Too fast. Can you pls add a mode to go b Ack to the original tile by tile playing style? This game is way too fast and it’s taking the fun out of exploring… it’s like what happened with diablo 4 where they thought the faster they let you play, the better…

Coffee break game. It should be listed as a rogue like coffee break game. Fun waste of time game, it should at least have a “learning” interface that “remembers” what you’ve found. Much time wasted dying during item tests because you have to get the items used.

Best game. Takes a ton of time to get into, but I promise it's worth it. Very community led and it's worth supporting these devs

No ads no micro transactions. Just a solid game that is easy to pick up and put down.

Very challenging and fun to play!. I absolutely love this game, the difficulty is just right☺️

Simply outstanding game.. I played the original Pixel Dungeon and a few of the remixes when I was younger, I certainly rememberer enjoying shattered in particular. After seeing that this version was available on the AppStore I immediately bought it. The 6.99 fee is more than fair for a title this great. It’s an excellent take on an already very good Rouge-like game. I absolutely adore everything about this project. 5 stars. I’d recommend this to any fans of the rougelike genre, or RPGs in general. Will be picking this up on steam when it releases too.

Great Sequel. Loved Pixel Dungeon so picked this up and was not disappointed. If you like rogue likes this is a great game to spend time on flights.

Great Work Evan. I always wanted a sequel to Pixel Dungeon, this already feels like some awesome DLC and I’m looking forward to seeing how it improves.

Better than the first Pixel Dungeon.. If you liked the first game, this is a no-brainer.

All time favourite.. This is my all time favourite mobile game, 100% would recommend to anyone willing to sit down for 10 minutes and learn the basics. Been playing since release and it’s recieved consistant updates, attention, and patches since. The developer truly cares and it shows through the quality of this game.

Love this game. This is a great update to the older Pixel Dungeon game. I love the ability to level up skills and the changes made. I’m having a blast!

Incredible. EASILY the best roguelike available on mobile, finally on ios. if you enjoy roguelikes at all, you'll love this game, simple enough that it can be played on a phone but deep enough to keep you sucked in for hours at a time. well worth the price, 10/10.

Amulet of Yendor…says it all…sort of. Somewhat similar to the old-school legendary rogue-like that started it all: Nethack for DOS. Pretty solid intuitive and enjoyable dungeon crawl. Recommend if you haven’t had your Nethack fix in a long while, or if you’re new to this type of RPG dungeon crawling game that is never the same each time you play. Yes, you die only once and start all over. Yes, the scroll and potion names are the same as in Nethack. As are shops, graveyards, and other. But then this game takes a different direction, which is refreshing and keeps the game simpler than old school. There is lots to discover about the game and deep dungeons to explore. Highly recommend it.

One of the classics. Honestly, just get it. It’s, hands down, the best roguelike I’ve ever played. There are a lot of Pixel Dungeon forks/variants out there (although none but the original available on iOS), but this one (Shattered) is the best of them by far, it only by dint of the fact it is being actively updated with new content all the time. The dev is diligent and reliable, and has been for years.

What a gem!. For any rogue fan out there. Look no further. This one is simply excellent!!!

Bloody tough. You will die the first 5 or so times... or 15 like i did before beating the first slime boss

Mint!. I play this game all day at work and it passes the time! Has to be one my all time favourite games to play!!!

Can you please fix the quick bar. It won’t let me put more than one item on the quick bar. Great game though.

Good iPhone game. No gimmicks

Excellent!. Très amusant! Beau dans sa simplicité visuel et nuancé dans sa complexité de jeu

Captivating. Fun game with a deep aspect to it. Addictive.

finally found the perfect phone game. this game checks of everything that i want to find in a good mobile game. from the mechanics, the look and feel, and overall design of floors. it’s an extremely fun game. this is a hidden gem and i’m glad i got it.

Stellar phone game!. Its not a port of an old pc rpg, its not a dumbed down version of some classic game with a clunky interface, its a straight up well designed mobile roguelike. Doesnt try to deliver a “console experience” or imitate more popular games, doesnt put up a flashy front to hide a bad core gameplay loop. No micro transactions, you can adjust the UI scaling and camera zoom at will, and it controls very intuitively. Its super addicting, easy to grasp, hard to master. Does what it says on the tin, and does it well. I hope this game ~takes off~ tbh. Devs deserve the support.

Simple and enjoyable. Most enjoyable turn based game I've ever played.

I’ve played for 8 years. I have played video games all of my life. Nintendo, X-Box, PlayStation.. but I always find myself coming back to this game. For eight years I have plundered my way through the dungeon & still to this day learn new ways to play & different ways to use / make items. Great to play for hours or on a 5 min break at work. This game goes down in my books as top 3.

Too unforgiving, cheap tactics. Expect each game to be like this: dodged, dodged, hungry, dodged, game over. As you can see, evasion is too overtuned, resulting in unfair deaths (despite playing flawlessly) because of RNG. Enemies constantly dodging attacks to create artificial difficulty is cheap, rage-inducing and is therefore not a game I particularly enjoy. It doesn’t help that this game is quite difficult for the casual player, and over-levelling to try and mitigate this is pointless since characters are starving after 2 minutes (again, this is overtuned). The weapon and character stats are surprisingly balanced though and throughout my 20 hours of playing, I found that all characters were viable in some way. I would give this 2 stars due to how stupidly overtuned enemy evasion is and hunger going down too quickly, but there are zero ads, so it gets a bump up in the rating.

Great game. Fun and addictive dungeon crawler

Love this game. I have been playing this game for 10 years. Never been tired of it

Stellar game!!. Best roguelike available on mobile. By far.

I had to rewrite this 3 times. I’m not gonna waste my time rewriting everything I wrote 3 times already , game is missing key components that would make it more fun enjoyable and or interesting as of now there are far better rogue likes out there that offer more than this game has to offer I don’t feel re writing every thing I did again not sure why it being removed for but game has potential but is severely lacking in story, classes, actual good traits, progression is non existent, dualist class locks devs behind his EVERY WEAPON HAS A SPECIAL MOVE, so any new weapon or class with a new weapon must take into account dualist dumb trait. Need a hub world that explains demonstrates shows us the dread situation the people find themselves in basically a view other than the sewers, cool idea for permanent upgrade system anyone entering the sewers will be given a special trinket manufactured by the kingdom that basically sends your corpse back to the kingdom and THEY acquire all the loot you had as well as any info letters or literature of whats transpiring within the depth of the sewers. With that every death will acquire you permanent upgrades to your classes since now the kingdom is doing better little by little with every expedition. The more story you unlock the more you can learn more straightforwardly as in you actually learn of the history instead of having to put pieces together yourself, anyway game has potential but as it is and where it is going now I don’t see it becoming more fun or interesting, just more pointless grinding for nothing but BRAIN KNOWLEDGE wow like every other game out there , the game has a solid skeleton and a good heart, but that’s all it has going for itself, a skeleton with a heart is still just a skeleton, your missing key components that would skyrocket this game out of the 280 mark zone and sent it into the thousands, dead cells binding of Isaac the spire , Dawncaster , and many other rogue likes find they’re place, but pixel dungeon is missing to much skin and muscle and organs to be on they’re level it needs more anyway 1 outta 5 make a meaningful update other than trinkets, changes , and JouRnAl EnTriEs, and it might go up to 5 stars

Approved by mr goo. This is good game. Hard.

Great roguelike. Classic turn based dungeon crawl. It reminds me a lot of RuneKeeper in the way you have to discover what all the consumables do.

Amazing game. I’ve spent more time on this app then I’m proud to admit

5 ⭐️. An excellent traditional roguelike well suited for mobile play. In particular, the pinch to zoom feature (obviating the need for a separate map of each floor) is especially clever.

Good game hooray. 🗿

10 years strong. From pixel dungeon to spd I’ve literally spent the better part of 10 years playing this game It’s amazing, great time killer! It is NOT easy be any means but when you get the hang of it you will fall in love

Thank you Evan, I genuinely love this game. I’ve been a long time fan time now because of convenient it is to play, and because of how challenging it can be. I love those moments when I’m in a situation where I’m on the brink of death and I have to dig deep in my pockets to find a way to save the run. It’s been great to see the game grow over the years, and I love the new Gnoll Cave Quest. Right now the class I’m having the most fun with is the duelist, which I’m really looking forward to the new updates! 😄

Love the game. Awesome game! Great for just picking up and playing for a little while. Would love to see a multiplayer in the future maybe?

Great Mobile Game. I’ve been having lots of fun with this pixel RPG game, it does take a bit to figure out the surprise attack function and potions etc. but certainly well-made and accessible enough for me to come back. Just made it to the end of the sewers with the huntress, already worth the money I paid!

Huge improvement. I played a while back and now this game is amazing I think if they added a mode where you can respawn or something like that for players to not get mad😂😂 and lose all their hard earned stuff

yesssir.. absolutely great for the simple price of 6.99$ if you’re a fan of rouge likes this is definitely the game for you. sucked to many hours in this game and always come back for more.

The best game ever. It’s true

Good roguelike. I was looking for something short but challenging to play when I’m too tired to play a computer game, and this one has been perfect. Don’t be fooled by appearance, this game is fun, easy to learn, but hard to master.

One of the best game out there imo. I rarely ever had this much fun playing a game. It’s really well made and addictive lol. you can play it for days and it’s gonna be different every time. I love it, great job!

Only gets better. I’ve been playing this game for a very long time and Evan is continually adding new stuff to make the game even better. Keep up the great work.

If you like rogue-like games this is for you. Great game. Absolutely worth the price of admission.

Opinions. I feel like I’ve grown with the game since the OG PD, and this one takes the cake. MPD was revolutionary… all I gotta say is, the new character has some bugs still with switching weapons, ran into it the other day and lost a decent run, other then that the games amazing, and I’m so glad it’s on IOS NOW‼️

Awesome Game. I’ve had the original Pixel Dungeon on my phone for years, and just today I found Shattered Pixel Dungeon. I bought it without a second thought, and after just making it to the 5th floor on my first try, I’ve already noticed a HUGE improvement from the base game. I can’t wait to continue playing and see what else the game has in store. Awesome job devs!

Surprisingly addictive. Played some similar games, but none quite as fun as this. The “rules” all seem rather simple, you are able to play for a bit, put it down, and pick up right from where you were. Really is a must have mobile game if you occasionally have a minute or two, or even an hour at a time.

Pixel. Good game you dye a lot but it makes you want to keep playing to do better. Just enough challenge to keep it enjoyable and enough reward to keep you motivated. Also a game that any age group could play. Different characters for different styles of play and fun and easy unlocking mechanisms.

Great mobile game!. I just beat the first boss and so far I am loving this game. My bf showed it to me and apparently it was a game he used to play as a kid, which is amazing that it’s been around this long. Its rules are fair and the game is kinda hard at first, but there’s plenty of tips and guides you can read in-game and on the wiki. Love the sound effects and game design too lol Definitely give it a try! Worth the money imo

Pixel Dungeon Rocks!. Been playing for a few years now and took a break only to come back and find that the game is still being supported with new updates! Probably my favorite rougelike of all time, easy to get into and hard to master. It’s not a huge time sink but has a plethora of interesting, fun, and unique content. Love this game

So wonderful. Can’t get enough been playing for years best turnbase pixel rpg out there 100 % so many in game items and unique mobs… though game is challenging that is what makes it so good and learning the ropes feels like a very rewarding experience not many masterpieces are available on mobile like this

Thai game is great. This game has changed so much form when it first came out that it feels like a completely different game. The art animation is great its challenging and rewarding and so much content that just makes you want to play more and more. I definitely think the price is well worth the fun you will have.

Awesome game.. Honestly one of the best games on iOS. I really appreciate that there is no microtransactions, and that the game can be played offline. While it can be frustratingly hard at times, I find the game weirdly addicting and have already dumped a good handful of hours into it. Would definitely recommend.

Been playing since before it was pay to play. I had to buy it cause I really missed this game. I remember it was a free game years ago. I didn’t mind paying for it cause it was a great game so when I saw they were charging for it I assumed it was better now and I wasn’t disappointed. The was improved and I’m glad the creator has kept updating and making it better.

Best $5 game I’ve ever bought. Get your old school dnd fix here! A seemingly never ending dungeon that doesn’t hold your hand. Progress is so rewarding! Hours and hours I’ve played. Love the wizard! I would love to see this game come to console of some sort with slightly improved graphics. Not so much that it totally changes the aesthetic though.

its alright, and its the only pd game on ios. unfortunately shattered has grown ungracefully, adding odd artstyle changes where they werent needed. was pretty good when it stuck with the original artstyle, and it would be pretty good if the main gameplay was more stylized but the original gameplay graphics with the new music and ne character art is a bit jarring. would be nice at least to add an option for the original music but as it is, i enjoy most of the gameplay additions but still prefer sprouted pd at this point as it adds to the game (albeit very differently) while retaining the original artstyle which has a certain charm that this loses. i love pixel dungeon btw, one of the best games out there period.

Garbage game that relies on not getting screwed by the rng. Half the game is begging your character not to miss. The last area enemies easily shred through your health in 2-3 hits and armor means nothing. Had the best run, fully optimized, and died immediately cause one enemy can take away half your health in one shot. Not worth then money, the game is just too unfair. Not being able to do anything as enemies just destroy you’re health bar is the most frustrating thing, especially after all the hard work you went through just to lose cause you’re attacked by 3 overpowered enemies at once.

Amazing. I’ve played this game for a very long time before there was even a chattered version this game just keeps getting better and better definitely worth the 4.99 you’re gonna rage quit a few times but once you start learning it gets more fun and dying is half the fun!

Great game. I’ve played the original pixel dungeon, as recently as a few days ago, and this game is an amazing version. I love how it is more balanced and has much better mechanics. I like the feel and how you can see what the ghost is actually offering instead of just guessing.

Favorite free time game. Been playing since it was originally just called pixel dungeon and this game hasn’t changed at all still my favorite mobile game and has a lot more features and game mechanics than the original that make its changing layouts and items more interesting to adapt to further your journey.

This is my desert island game. As someone who used to play Pixel Dungeon a lot before the durability/degradation mechanic was added to that game, and who just tried Shattered Pixel Dungeon recently here, I’m so glad to discover that durability/degradation is NOT in Shattered (other than to a limited extent for throwing weapons). Shattered is way more like the Pixel Dungeon I remember, and that I got so absorbed in back in the day - but with all kinds of cool extras that I’m still discovering!

Fantastic game. I’ve only been playing for a couple of hours, but it’s clear that the depth is there. It’s a game that begs to be explored, and discovered. Like any good rogue lite there’s a true feeling of adventure with high stakes. Very rewarding game so far. Thoroughly enjoying it. I’ve got a laptop right next to me with a bunch of great games on it, but right now I’d rather be on my phone playing this one. Get it, invest some time and attention on it; you will not regret it.

Nostalgia and Goated Game. The last time I played pixel dungeon was almost 7 years ago, getting back into this new Shattered version is even better then I remembered. I was really hesitant because of the $5 price tag, but I love this kind of game and know it’s gonna be a while before I actually defeat it making this $5 more then worth it

Definitely worth your time. Over all a great game, the developer is still developing the game when most thought it would end after a short, they came out, at least in my opinion but the game has come leaps and bounds by 100% recommend this game to anybody that has the free time to play it!

Good but still room to get better :). I like this game a lot! But I think it could use a slightly difficultly tweak to make equipping the first tier of gear easier? Also the sewer snake seems like it has an over high dodge rate?(But that might just be me) but yeah maybe making the characters have different strength levels could make the game just that bit easier:) still a great game!

Great game. I’m not usually into these types of dungeon crawlers, but it’s quite enjoyable. It passes the time while I’m out and about. Especially when waiting for things like doctors appointments or my next shift at work. I haven’t beaten it yet, but I’ll get there. One issue I have with the game is the locating of secret doors. The magnifying glass just tells me there’s nothing unusual, then at random chance my character will notice the door. Again, very fun game. I would definitely recommend it to people.

Excellent Job Dev’s 🥹. I can’t express how an excellent job the devs have done to this game. As a vet from the first Pixel Dungeon, this game has been one of my top favorites to play. This game is challenging and has every level is replay ability with randomized generated dungeons each and every run. New content is being added and I would love to see this game go above and beyond. ‘One does not simply leave Pixel Dungeon’ Hats off to Shattered Pixel 🎩 👋🏻

No permanent tome of mastery??. Taking the “tome of mastery” out even after beating the 2nd boss is kind of a deal breaker for me. Getting past the 2nd boss is challenging enough but to get absolutely nothing for your efforts afterwards kinda takes the replayability out of it for me. (Edit: I know it’s not gone entirely but I’d expect to still have it and not grind all the way to the 2nd boss every single time)

The only game you’ll need. A true “what would you bring to a deserted island” game. Endless replayability, endless strategy. This game reminds me of another I loved years ago called “100 Rogues”, while managing to add so much more to the mix. Easily worth the price; you’ll get more value out this game than anything out there. Props to the developer of this gem. This is the type of intelligent gaming worth promoting and supporting.

Pixel Dungeon got an upgrade. I’ve been playing the original iteration of this game since 2014ish. Shattered pixel dungeon is a huge step forward. People say that this game is too hard, there is just so much to learn about it. 10/10 game. The most played game on my phone for sure and within the top 10 most played video games by hours in my life. Can’t wait to see where SPD heads.

Pixel Dungeon 2. The OG developer made PD open source, presumably in the hopes that something like this would be made. Its Pixel Dungeon, but expanded in all directions (variety of enemies, items, settings, and different mechanics have been tweaked to enhance quality of life). Highly traditional roguelike (which nobody makes anymore) and it’s very welcome.

Make the game fair next update. Nothing like spending 2 hours just to get hit by a basic monk, explain how putting on armor with low health allots the enemy to make 10 consecutive strikes. Then I go back for my stuff and I die to another basic creature that magically spawned into the only room I could walk through to get my stuff. Multiple times I’ve caught the game letting creatures walk over parts of the ground that previously were empty, then when I walk over the same piece of ground a trap magically spawns. Clearly a rigged unfair game. Don’t waste your time.

Worth the Money. Gotta love this game, it’s harsh but fair rule set and how you slowly become better and better, so much fun! Along with consistent bug fixes and new content added in frequently, you can tell the dev cares about the game. But they still gotta make a living, and I think it’s more than worth the price!

Greater than the sum of its parts. I’ve been playing this dang game for years and probably will for years still. It’s one of the few things I’ve supported monetarily before it had a price-tag, and I was more than happy to purchase it when it did. Thank you, Evan, for keeping up with it as long as you have.

A friendlier Pixel Dungeon still capable of intimidating feeble-minded players.. I’m taking off one star because no rouge-like RPG that so perfectly meets the hand-holding expectations of today’s youth merits 5 stars. Save if it ends with a pixelized Sir Patrick Stuart whispering his email and the proper etiquette for arranging to have tea with a knight of the United Kingdom. Presumably, one would offer to fly out for a visit, an impropriety which would be gently, but firmly, corrected.

Really good for the price. This game is actually quite very challenging to start. When dude says get used to dying he wasn’t playing around. After a while I started to learn how to use equipment properly and then alchemy. The game has infinite replay value as the dungeons are never the same. Even more replayable as you unlock new characters. All in all a great challenging dungeon crawling with a splash of alchemy. I look forward to new updates as they come out.

Wow.. This game is way too underrated for comfort. IMO, this game deserves SO MUCH more attention than it gets. It’s a difficult strategy survival game, and I already love those kinds of games. I played to OG Pixel Dungeon during my childhood and loved it. Although, I haven’t been able to play it since it was removed from the App Store. So, I got Shattered today and now I can’t stop playing it. Thank you!

Enjoyable!. While not completely perfect, this is a fun and wonderfully challenging roguelike. It has a lot of interesting ways characters grow and change over the course of a run but definitely requires learning and prior planning otherwise a rude/mean/unlucky encounter or trap will cause your poor character to become crab/piranha/statue/fly swarm food. Definitely worth the time I’ve sunk in and the price point.

Great fun in small bites. For a seasoned fan of old-school roguelikes (Nethack since '87!) it's rare to find anything that has that same feel, but Shattered Pixel Dungeon does great! The metaprogression makes sense and feels rewarding, and it nails that "anything can happen" vibe where the next chest or item drop can change the whole game. Eminently worthwhile!

Definitely worth the money. I’ve been playing Shattered Pixel dungeon for around a year now, it’s a great remix of the original game but adds a lot of more unique features, characters, and ways to play. It might seem challenging at first with managing hunger, health, and equipment. But after playing and using your brain, you start to know what fights to take, what seeds to use, when to retreat. Would definitely recommend if you’re undecided!

Too difficult. I wish you had a choice. Let the user decide what level of difficulty they want to play. Have a easy (beginner) medium (seasoned player) and hard (expert difficulty) I’d give it 5 stars if it wasn’t so frustrating. If the difficulty was a bit easier I’d probably give it a higher rating as well. I want to win, not lose over and over again.

Worth every single penny. I bought this a while back cuz I loved playing pixel dungeon a few years back, tried this version out and wasn’t disappointed in the difficulty, used it whenever I had down time that needed killing. Overall worth the price for the level of enjoyment and time that it will kill

The Rogue on iOS. I had the version before this one and used it all the way up to the latest iOS and iPhone. This is worth the upgrade, so many nuanced changes that make the game enjoyable. For those new to this- this is a perfect Rogue with some wonderful new ideas, mechanics, and (of course) graphics.

Came back after years. I played this game when I was in high school and never forgot about it (if that tells you anything) as I play it now it’s more fun than when I had stopped playing, 100% worth the money, i definitely recommend. I even convinced my friend to buy the game and he loves it at well.

Excellent, but one glaring flaw. In my opinion, this is the best mobile game. It has a lot to offer, and it also has probably the greatest character balancing out of any game I’ve played…. But this is a VERY unbalanced game. To be honest, it seems like I only get far in some runs because of dumb luck. Many of the areas are also extremely painful and annoying, and the caves might just be one of my least favorite levels in any game. It’s a good game, but GOOD GOD it’s quite unbalanced.

AMAZING GAME!!!. I’ve been looking for a game like this for so long and I’ve finally found it. The identification system took a bit to get used to but after I understood it it turned out to be really fun I highly recommend you give this amazing game a try definitely worth the money 10/10

Well made turn-based rogue-like.. Being a long time fan of turn-based rogue-likes of this kind, I find the game to be exceptionally enjoyable. Well worth the price for the countless hours you could get out of it. Each class feels unique and distinct from one another and their skills and passives really stand out when you have them. Definitely earns its 5-star rating in my book.

Good game. I honestly love this game it can be a bit frustrating at times but it’s the best game I’ve found on the AppStore and I play it almost every day especially at work, love the seasonal events too it’s nice to get something special with some of the different months and holidays.

Awesome but…. An amazing game roguelike dungeon crawler. The only thing that could make it better if there were easy medium and hard. For example easy has more scrolls of upgrade and less enemy health, medium is the regular game with normal enemies, and hard less scrolls and more enemy health. Please consider my idea and have a good day.

Excellent IOS Roguelike. I’ve played this game since its TestFlight release, and it’s truly one of the best roguelike experiences available on IOS. It’s fairly hard, which will force you to try new characters and strategies to reach the final floors. Each character is well designed, and the developer is consistently working on reworking or tweaking existing items and systems in the game. One of the few apps I’ve happily spent money on in all my time owning an IPhone.

Love the work. I’ve been playing this game since I discovered it on the kindle fire almost 3 years ago or something every update has good sides and downsides it’s been a year or so since I was able to play it I love the work that has been put into this game by far my favorite

ELITE. I never knew about this game or game series for the longest time. Picked it up because it looked god gifted… I.E. super up my alley. Turns out… it’s so much more! Thank you Evan for making a delightful game I have such fun playing. I will say I hope you would add more classes… but I feel upon further research that ship has sailed. I love the recent change it the mages tier one upgrade. Much love, thanks… really.

Favorite game on mobile. I have been following this game for years. It carried me through early high-school but then I forgot about the game. Now almost 8 years later I get to experience it all over again and better than ever. I got it on my pc months ago and when I saw that the iOS port was coming soon I couldn’t wait. I pre-purchased it the moment I was able to. This game makes any boring moment enjoyable.

Awesome Game. I love this game. Can’t say I’ve gotten very far, but I get sucked into it every time. I started playing on my Steam Deck, but I find the controls are a bit easier on the phone. If you’re debating buying this game, just do it. I’ve bought it twice and would buy it again if I had to.
