Good, But With A Few Caveats. I like it so far, however, a few parts seem confusing to me. For example, figuring out how to set up an annual budget is easy, but it doesn't seem as easy to set up an overall monthly budget with categories. I can't find a way to do this. Instead, it seems I have to make a "custom budget" for each individual category, but then when I move to the next month, I can't change the amount to budget for that category without it going back and changing the previous budget's amount as well. This is quite frustrating because this is something I can do EASILY using other budgeting software, like Mint. Things don't cost the same amount every single month. I should be able to budget $100 for groceries in July and then $200 in August. I should also be able to easily make an overall monthly budget. These are HUGE oversights in my eyes.

Pretty decent. Works like a charm. It is complex in some fields but overall is really good.

Reporting errors. Therre seems to be a bug in the analysis section. When I bring up an expense report or chart for the year it lists total expenses $200,000-$300,000 larger than reality.

iFinance August 2023 Review. Not happy with the fact that every few weeks I must re-establish my purchase that I have made for a years services. I am looking at my accounts multiple times a week, enough to validate who I am I would think. I also am confused by different wording about my current paid up status that does not tell me that I am paid but asks if I want to make a change to premium, when I have had Premium in the past/currently. Also, I use Apple sign-in and sometimes it works and sometimes it fials. That is confusing, and irritating.

Charges Rent. Bull crap that you have to pay for this app AND then pay for another service (Synium who made this app I believe) in order to link accounts. Other fin apps I’ve used don’t do this

Generally pretty useless. Slow, almost no real useful info other than showing me the transactions. Subscription required for an additional 6/month or 40/yr to get your transactions from your accounts into this program.

Prior Version Was better. The prior verision had a well designed reconciliation feature. It doesn't exist in this version.

A failing app and support. I have been an iFinance user since version 3; 7 years. I had very few problems with any version through version 4. However, since upgrading to iFinance 5 on both my Macintosh and iPhone, the capabilities of both apps have progressively deteriorated. Late in 2022 the Macintosh app lost its ability to calculate the value of stocks using the shares owned and the market prices. Contact with Synium received "We cannot duplicate that issue" and there it ended. This year the iPhone app also lost its ability to calculate the value of stocks. Now the Macintosh app has lost its ability to correctly add the total value of assets which have been designated in the app to be included. This time contact with Synium received; "There some customers who experienced this while using a VPN or firewall that block server connections. We just got a few cases where the customer seems to not use any of those and still got this issue but we were never able to recreate it. However, we will try to improve this with one of the next updates." Updates to both came in today (6Mar24), but these still issues persist. I tried removing and downloading the apps to no avail. In fact I get the same problems if I enter stock data in their "Demo" sample app.

Paying for online service?. Well, that was a waste of money. I've never had to pay to use Plaid anywhere else - and I won't start now.

Nags a lot!!!. It looks like a promising way to keep track of my finances, but it nags a lot! There’s pop-ups for some genealogy app, another pop-up to sign up for the Synium Newsletter, another for a review, now another for a review. Well, you have your review, now leave me alone to do my banking.

Can’t find sync device. After latest update, mobiles can find each others under the local network but computer can’t find mobiles

There are many things missing in the update that I loved in the previous version.. I was one of the beta users for version 5; it had some glitchs but not as many as now. It seems to "freeze" between actions. Even the many colored circle of unknown comes up after and during the time the computer is to act on the program The version is very slow; I have never been able to link with my bank directly but could import the data in a timely manner, that does not occur. Please look into it, it has some good features but the bad is hard to overlook.

Back to version 4. I went back to version 4, as it's easier to use and to read. I also miss the 3 letter abreviation next to the date in the daily summary row. I had hoped that there would be new icons as category symbols, but no such luck. The Comment field used to be directly below the Category drop-down box, but now Tags and Check Number come before the Commets - I only use Comments. The date pickers are over-engineerd, as are the amount plus/minus and the Payee/Payer edit feature. But the Repeat Transactions appear to have been made simpler to understand.

Poor performance and operation. I love synium software however this product has been a huge disappointment from the dated Clunky interface to needing a 3rd party to interface with your bank, which is a monthly cost. Then add in a dash of that service is very poor leading to lost money and frustration both of which I do not need. Frankly I expected better from synium, from the additional cost to the buggy app behavior to the lack luster interface, please go back to the drawing board.

Not a Mature App. I purchased this app so I could move from my current app. I didn’t realize how good it was until I started using iFinance. Support was unhelpful and I solved my own import problem. I had a corrupted database. Setting up iFinance was overly cumbersome, the scant number of reports and minimal customization left me wanting my old app. So I went back & chalked up my expenditure as a waste of money. Do not buy.

Not ready for US Market. Pros: Simple/clean interface. Cons: Online connectivity to accounts: * Uses Plaid - $7 bucks per month * Plaid doesn't play nice with Chase, so those accounts won't import. * Retirement accounts (Empower) also can't be imported via Plaid. * EU currency symbol attached to US dollar amounts. Not a big deal, and it's a 1:1 currency exchange at the moment, but amounts should denote in $. * Again, it's 7 bucks a month for online connectivity.

Terrible Upgrade. I have been using iFinance4 as long as it has been out. It worked perfectly. The new iFinance5 is a desaster. I downloaded it, paid the subscription and registered my bank accounts with Plaid. The app doesn't refresh the bank account data. It says it is connected with the bank via Plaid but the data only refreshed the first time I used the app, after that, I can't get it to refresh. It has a setting to tell it to refresh upon opening, however; that setting will not work, it only stays on manual. THIS IS THE PITS - I used to love iFinance but now it's usless!

Bad reconciliation process. The application is very nice. However, the developers have no idea of finance. Specifically, in an effort to make the reconciliation as friendly as possible, they have made it as dum as it can be to the point to be useless. The process was bad in version 4 but now users cannot even know what values need to be reconciled because there is no place to enter the beginning and ending balances given by the financial institutions. Then, how can a user know if all values have been reconciled? The only way is by pulling a statement from the financial institution. The reconciliation should not be a "rolling" process, which is what the developers have done. Reconciliation should be isolated process for each reconciling period.

Not as good as previous version. While they think they have improved things, for those of us used to having an area for reconciling and balancing accounts, by eliminating that function, I missed several critical entries that were not posted. You need the amounts (especially for bank accounts) across the top to make sure everything gets entered. It also is much harder to find the key to make new entries.

not complete. Needs Bill Payment Organizer or Calendar to track everything in one place

Excellent app w/ one request. I’ve tried other apps for my finances and I always come back to iFinance. It just works. I manage my family and my in-laws accounts and iFinance has helped tremendously. Only one thing I would like to see added is the ability to clear the cache. For example in the Purpose field. Everything I type is cached, including the things I misspelled. Now if I start to type a common purpose I get all the misspellings with it. Same issue for Tags and Comments. I wish I could wipe it out and start fresh.

Monthly Fee. Although this might be good to organize a budget, unless you want to pay $50/year to sync your accounts, thereby making it more user friendly and accurate (instead of doing everything manually), then I would avoid it. I discovered the fee after purchasing as the sync popup didn’t mention that initially (just wanted me to create an account - which I didn’t do as I was demoing it). If I had, I would have seen this and never purchased the app.

Not what I expected. Seems like the transactions don't update like they are suppose to, even after connecting my accounts and paying not only for the app, but also the subscription service in the app for Plaid. I reached out to the developers and mentioned my issues, they did reply very quickly, but the update they added still didn't fix the issue. Seems like this app would worl for anyone that is dealing with raw files, but for people who want it directly connected to their banks, credit cards, etc. I would look else where.

Won’t Open. I’ve been using for years. I don’t like the updated UI. Also, randomly, the app opens but locks up on the database screen. I can’t get it to work at all so far. Tried resetting etc.

Tech support is basically non-extant. I have been a paid user, using this app for about 9 months now. It is extremely buggy. I have been locked out of updating my accounts automatically because it does’t recognize my log in any longer even though I paid for a year subscription last nine months ago. This is a learn as you go app, definitely not user friendly in that way, I suppose it can be after prolonged use but who wants to take years to learn how to work an app that you have to pay for, shouldn’t there be some form of instruction to go with it. I contacted tech support about my problem of not being recognized when I log in, but of course, I get no response from them. Don’t bother with downloading this app.

Longtime user. I have used this several years for personal accounting. It is so much easier than the huge programs I used for businesses.

Fantastic Finance App. The Synium team has done an outstanding job with this app! With iFinance 5 you have a solid alternative to some of the other finance apps! I'm not using the online account connections but for direct entry iFinance 5 works flawlessly and has an easy to use and great looking interface. This app has so many great features to help manage personal finances - it's a pleasure to work in and explore this app. The Analyses/Reporting section takes some getting used to but with right Account / Category setup it's extremely powerful with the built-in flexibility to customize. A key point for me was the iCloud sync, which others don't offer. 5 stars!

Improvement Suggestion. I really like using the current version of iFinance,. However, I do have one suggestion. An improvement would be to show each entry in a sequential order. By that I mean -- to have each entry appear at the top of the list when it is entered. Thanks. dp

Outdated and Hidden charges - AVOID. It sounded good, but this is an OLD and Outdated App. Even worse, it charges an additional monthly or annual subscription FEE if you want to connect to your banks to download transactions. If I knew that I would never have purchased it!! AVOID this App.

good program... but. Like the program, but i am frustrated because i do not see how to eliminate old unused or outdated "comments" or "purpose" items from the list

Needs work. Mobile App constantly freezes. Makes it painstakingly difficult to use. Plaid does not always work when trying to sync accounts. Instructions to process tasks not intuitive at all. Takes getting used to.

iFinance is Slowly Improving (fixing bugs & features). Plaid Doesn't Always Import Properly. It imports $ amounts for the wrong Payee/Payer. So I have to correct for the Payee or $ amount. Tags and Categories mostly work as expected. I've used most of the financial apps on the Mac App store and iFinance has a superior interface. I expect that it will continue to get better at downloading transactions more accurately.

Nice App but a slow on support. There are several areas for improvement, but support is very slow responding back. This could be the best App for personal finance in the whole App Store, but they need to listen to the customer suggestions and keep a good communication.

Apple Watch compatibility. It would be a great help to monitor everything from our apple watch since with the hustle and bustle of everyday life it is complicated to be looking at the phone to see how our finances are going.

A true downgrade. I’ve been using iFinance for maybe 10 years or so and over a few upgrades. None were perfect but about the only decent register for a Mac. I usually don’t buy upgrades when I’m satisfied with what I have but this time I decided to give it a spin. Boy was that a mistake. Version 5.5 is about as confusing and non-functional as they get. Not sure what country these developers are in or if the even know anything about finances. When you enter a payment you’d think it would be the “title” for the transaction but you’d be wrong. The title is now entered into the “Purpose” field which most people would think that would be a comment on what the transaction is for. Syncing between an iPhone and the laptop is impossible for me. The migrating notice displays and never ever does anything after an hour. Want to reconcile your account? You can forget that too. There is no place to enter your banks beginning and ending balance. How do you reconcile without that little piece of information. Glad some of you had good luck but for me this one is going in the trash and going back to version 4. A true waste of $20

Reconciliation. Where is this function on the latest version??

Still essential. I use credit cards to keep my credit score up, but always pay them off monthly. I also track various store credit accounts and savings accounts. I’ve used iFinance since version 4 to balance my finances every week, and it’s still essential at the start of 2024. I don’t use the IAP of online connections to banks, that way every transaction I enter is one I recognize. When a transaction hasn’t been paid off, I can flag it so it stands out later. Recurring transactions like savings deposits are easy to set up automatically. When I pay a credit card from my debit account, it’s as easy as selecting last month’s payment and duplicating it for today, then changing the amount. The transactions have a line for a check number, but I don’t use checks, so I copy & paste transaction confirmation codes from the bank there. It’s easier than keeping the emails in case there is any question if I made a payment later. Developers- adding additional, customizable info lines would be helpful. Other positives are how I can add images to bank accounts, allowing me to see at a glance what card is what account. Again, devs, adding a custom line I can see in the main window would help, since I have one card that I only use on automotive stuff, and another that’s just for medical bills. I’d like to see that info readily. The best part of this app, which I didn’t find in others, is nesting. I can have one folder containing savings accounts, all individual but totaled together. In another folder, I can have a sub folder of debit accounts, with a second folder of credit card accounts. That way, I get a subtotal of liquid cash and a subtotal of outstanding debt, with the top-level folder showing the combined value of the two, positive or negative. This is also how I budget, since I add an additional folder for future recurring transactions I know will come out of the budget, like the monthly Apple One subscription. It stays in the Upcoming folder until it’s active under the actual charge account. This iFinance 5 app is essential for my personal needs.

iFinance 5. Need a lot of improvements. It is hard to read, writing is to small with no option to make fond biger. Why they moved the menu bar on leftside? Now is les space for account view. I was thinking that they did some improvements to iFinance 4 but they actualy downgreated it.

update iFinance4 to iFinance5. way too many bugs. can't see any improvements. lost screen viewing width. many issues trying to get back to where I was in 4. may go back to iFinance 4. and worst of all. WHY do I have to pay for an update anyway? :(

This is the pits. I have loved this app over the years. This version is the easiest to use and setup yet. The problem is that the programmers take some time to catch up when there is an IOS update. The app appeared to work at first but didn’t update from the bank properly. They came out with an update after a week or so and all appeared to work properly. With the latest IOS update the app has ceased to update from the bank. Without bank update that are reliable THE APP IS USELESS!! Please get with it and keep up with the updates. Totally unhappy customer

Difficult to Use. I found this program to be user unfriendly. I could not get correct balances, statements, or reconciliations. I wrote the company, deleted the accounts. And then tried to load my accounts once more with no success. I have cancelled this program altogether. Truly not worth my time or money. Hoping Intuit brings Quickbooks to imac. Much easier to use.

Not as good as iFinance 4. There’s several little bugs with iFinance 5, even though we choose to wait a long time before upgrading from 4. It’s disappointing that the software group hasn’t ironed these out just yet. Hopefully they will at some point.

Good App. I have enjoyed the I-Finance application for many years. No complaints. However, I forgot the database password because I have had the application so long. This prevents me from using the mobile app. On the iPhone.

Very good app, Outstanding support. For some time now, I've used Quicken for Mac to track our finances. Quicken is incredibly detailed but is incredibly slow and spotting synching with various financial institutions. It rarely sync'd to my iPad and iPhone, so I was looking for an alternative. I use several of Synium's other apps. They are consistently very good. The biggest hurdle for me is rethinking everything and unlearning Quicken for Mac. iFinance 5's help documentation is good, but seems to be lacking in some areas, mostly because it functions differently than Quicken. However, their customer support is outstanding. They are responsive, patient, and willing to do whatever it takes to assist. They are kind when pointing out the documentation has the answers. Quicken requires a subscription for the app but not to download and synchronize transactions. iFinance is a one-time purchase. If you only have a couple of accounts to sync, you can use the free version of Plaid. If not, like me, there is an annual subscripton for unlimited accounts. Plaid/iFinance synchronization is fantastic. They both work on all my Apple devices. No matter if where I am or what device, all my data syncs and is readily availabe. Just as in Quicken, not all institutions or accounts sync with Plaid, so you create offline accounts for those. Migration from Quicken for Mac is, unfortunately, not available. However, you can import .csv transaction files, but not Categories and Contacts. But you can create these on the fly. Now that I've learned how to use Tags, Categories, and Contacts (Payee/Payer), along with transaction Purpose, Transfer Posting with Merging, Reporting using both Categories and/or Tags, I have found that iFinance 5 is very powerful. I can use it to track my IRA and personally held stocks, which are updated everytime I open the app. No, iFinance does not export to a file to be uploaded to various tax reporting software, but I can be creative and create the means to track income and expenses for IRS reporting. So, syncing quickly and easily across all devices and spport are the deciding factors for me. I'll be canceling my subscription to Quicken for Mac. Thank you Synium!

Best Mac Finance Software. I have been using it since 2011. It keeps improving with each new version at a reasonable price and all subversion upgrades are free. The only software I have used more than a dozen years is Syniums' MacFamly Tree, which is why I chose IFinance in the first place.

I really like this…. Have been using the iOS and Mac versions of this app for about a year now for tracking my expenditures across my 2 credit cards and checking account. My needs are fairly simple and straightforward, and this app has met my expectations nicely. What I like: support for import file formats (both on my Mac and on my iPad), iCloud syncing between my devices, automatic classification expenses into categories, and tracking of mutual fund performance. iFinance has capabilities that I’m not using, and I find its interface to be a bit complex. However, this really meets my needs nicely. Highly recommended.

Buyer Beware. Once you buy the program, you still cannot connect any of your accounts without purchasing a recurring subscription from Synium. Would be nice to know the program is useless without additional cost before extracting the purchase price.

short review. 1st day using the app, was able to to create and transfer information from Quicken account by account (CSV file). One feature which might help is a column to show current balance in the register

Sync Problems. I had a file with my finances that I usually edited from my Mac. When I accessed it from my phone, I lost all my data for the month. Fortunately, there's a backup feature that allowed me to restore the previous month, but the current month's information was lost. Terrible syncing.

Confusing.....still. When I have repeating entries (like a credit card). I like to add/split the transactions. It gets annoyying answering every click "do this to all transactions?". Also, the database isn't uploading smoothly from phone to macbook. I click, "keep new version" and it loads an older one???? It may be something I'm doing wrong but dang it......how am I supposed to know?

Not bad, but could still be improved for Australian users. I am still chasing a Microsoft Money kind of program for my personal finances. I used to use it almost thirty years ago and I’m gobsmacked that nothing else exists with that same functionality, not bloated with things I don’t want. iFinance is close - but because it won’t sync with Australian banks, it’s slightly less useful than it could be. I also find the graphs and contacts not great. I’ve deleted everything it imported and am slowly trying to build them back up so I can have relevant reports. I do like that it shows me forecast data, because I use that a lot to determine how much money I have left after paying bills. I would like a future forecast of savings and accounts based on the information provided - as in an overall graph that shows predicted growth. I would also like each account (I have many) to open to today’s date, and I can’t seem to do this. I also wish the account numbers were still visible in the accounts list - like they were in iFinance 4, which I finally started using not that long ago. Good, but could be better.

Another annoying application. Firstly, It started with reminders now is the constant bombardment of apps this developer producers. Also the interface of the previous version was far better. This interface is clunky and childish in comparison to is previous version. Any Application that needs to send annoying reminders about rating the application is straight annoying. Developers should be confident that people will rate the application on its merits not to stop the constant badgering that you get from the developer. As soon as I find an alternate app that meets my needs I’m out of here.

Where’s the legit update. App still in beta mode. Need some good updates guys

still using. I wanted to move away and tried lots of the other options but keep coming back to iFinance. The interface is so much better compared to the others. Some frustrating bugs that don't seem to get fixed no mater how many times I raise a support query. I always add transactions manually so have never cared about no automatic download options

More work needed on the app.. When I go to repeat a transaction, I have to repeatedly force quit the application as it does not respond. (I get the spinning wheel of death). If I have not manually saved my work so far it is just a waste of time as I lose recent completed entries which is so annoying. Would be great for a separate section for entering repeat and scheduled transactions with a calendar view as well.

Great for my personal finances. I really like the simplicity of iFinance5. It has all the functionality I need to keep an eye on my personal finances. It has a lot more features than I use. I really like the reports and the ease of importing transactions from files. I wish there was some guidance on how to get the most our of iFinance5 - I have a feeling that I am not really organising my data in the way the developers expect because I don’t have any financial management expertise.

A truly Great App with an abundance of must have features. I highly recommend this app. to anyone running a household budget/small business etc. In my opinion iFinance 5 is the best personal finance app. on the market and I have been using it for many years since its inception. Everything about this app. is to like and appreciate. The iCloud syncing across all of your devices in real time is invaluable and a welcome feature when on the move. The developer is constantly looking to enhance a truly great product. Thank You! ...

Mark. I like the app and can recommend it. It would be better if it synced with Australian banks. I’d like to be able to adjust the financial year to a June 30 ending like we use in Australia. There are things on offer that I know I could use and maybe one day I’ll look into them.

Quite a change. Have to get used to the new method of reconcilling bank statements in the MAC here in Australia. The zoom function is dissappointing in that it does not enlarge the text. The database manager is cumbersome, and the 'open' word is very small. New entries with a very small ' ' on the top and the split also so small. Would be good if it is bold and larger or if the zoom actually worked. I was so used to having it clearly at the bottom in version 4. Its a shame that the software was changed so much.

Perfect for our home accounting. We've just upgraded from iFinance 4 to iFinance 5. The software is very reliable and gives us all the functionality we need and is user friendly.

Serves my personal bookkeeping. It is really easy to use and allows me to keep my accounts and spending under control and plan ahead. I have been using it for many years now and like how it is improving with every update.

Poor functionality. It would be good to be able to categorise accounts (credit cards, Bank accounts, Loans etc). It would also be useful to be able to schedule income and expenses, against a bank account or credit card, and see a calendar of bills coming up against bank or credit card balances, to ensure funds are available against the nominated account. That would make this a true finance program rather than a slightly dressed-up excel spreasheet. Very disappointing .... I want my money back!

A lovely finance app. Comprehensive, easy to fill in the data, I've paid for the app but not subscribed for online banking so it's very inexpensive for a good personal finance app that also includes shares, it shows the share price and how much your shares are worth and several charts showing the price from a day to five years. You can also split your bills, so you can have a Woolworths bill, $22 pets $65 Groceries, which is handy. You can also see your repeat expenses for a couple of weeks in front so it helps you budget to your next payment.

Still need a proper fix since oct 2023. Fix the date thing so its easier to see and select 'TODAYS" date. someone people input cost as forcasting or a payment date changed. make the calander date thing with 'today' and make it easier to see which date is selected. thanks. -aug 2022

Well done! …. This would have to be one of the best pieces of software I own. Managing your finances and household budget is a breeze on all your devices including your computer, iPad and iPhone. The iCloud syncing is invaluable with modifications updating on all devices as they occur in real time. Congratulations and thanks to Synium …

Disappointing. I've been an iFinance user through 'many' iterations. I've only just returned for Version 5, and there's still so much that is difficult about the app. One example, I'm trying to edit one of my contacts to have an icon. What a nightmare... Something SO SIMPLE... yet, searching the 'help' files there is not one reference to the 'size' the icon must be to fit in the window... I've spent far too much time, using a heavy duty photo editing app, to try and try again, to fit my icon into the window... I've done it, but man... what a drag!!! And this is but ONE issue... I have so many it seems... Not impressed!!!

Data keeps deleting from accounts. This is a good app in principle but I keep loosing data that I have manually downloaded to accounts. Really annoying after you have spent time categorising spending to find it all missing next time you open the program. Have sent a message to the tech support but no reply. Based on the problems I am having this program is not worth spending money on.

WELL..... I love the interface, the color, layout... BUT its so annoying in many ways I found it so much clunckier and difficult than the previous one (4), that I decided to go back. Most annoying: even though network discovery is definetely enabled both on Mac and iPhone, the systems do NOT see each other via WiFi, and yes, of course since I am working at home,they are both logged into the same WiFi.

Great App. I held off writing this review until I had used the app for about 6 months. First, for places like Australia which don't support automatic export of bank transactions, it is almost the only game in town. Fortunately, with my bank you can export to csv then iFinance has pretty comprehensive and flexible import items. Reporting is comprehensive. It takes a while to customise the categories to your preferences, which is always going to be the case regardless of software. Changing categories of historical transactions is pretty easy, so you can experiment until your categories are working. Budgeting is quite easy, and informative, once yu have a years worth of data. Two potential improvements. It seems that the facility to dynamically apply categories on import doesn't work when importing from csv files (or at least I couldn't get it to work). Second, categories aren't treated as income or expenses - all positive cash flows are treated as 'income' and negative are 'expenses'. this may strictly be true but I would rather a refund from my health fund be treated as an offset to health expenses in reporting, rather than 'income'.

Too Many Nagging Screen. I have a nagging screen for review each time I open the software

Odd program. Complicated unusual way of presenting data. Not an easy learning curve. Documentation inadequate, simple questions like running total not easy to find.

Good program and support. I manually enter transactions and find iFinance is a good money management program. Easy to work with the budgeting and analysis features. Support has been responsive to issues I have had.

Review. Have set this up a dozen times, this weekend,and it is totally unstable. The online connection works maybe once in each 5 times, then the commection is lost and not recovered. No response at all from support - basically this is a useless product

Good app, but synchronization bug. I have used this app for a long time, I like the options which include - design, online currency and stock updating, folder and budget system. But after turning on synchronization between Mac and iPhone it becomes a nightmare. I lost my files after 4 years of running a budget, an app created a backup and copies every time when I tried to open a file, in one hour it created tens of the same files, each with the same name. I reinstalled the app and it didn't help. Will see. If this thing will be not fixed I will look for a new app or turn off the synchronization and use only on one device. In general good stuff.

Huge Improvements. I’ve been using since the advent of iFinance 3. A great product that continues to evolve. One request would be to have ability to sync the local database with a spouse or significant other, preferably using iCloud. Software is sometimes temperamental, but the app support is there. A German company, with a solid app. Now if only all (not most) Canadian FI synced with Plaid (looking at you EQ bank).

Automatic entry of contact name is incorrect every time. This mechanism should look up previous entries (the ones that have been corrected manually) to fill out the new ones correspondingly. I hope it will be fixed, because now it is useless. Otherwise, I think it is a useful app and rather well thought out.

Hardly worth it. The software itself is unreliable on an ongoing basis. The software is also unreliable as part as imported data is concerned. I had imported several years worth of data and categorized it. iFInance scrambled it. Finally, its connection to Plaid to bank accounts is even more unreliable. I understand that Mint must have been a money-loser, and it was shut down for that reason, but while it worked, Mint was head and shoulders above this software.

Unreliable and Temperamental. I loaded the iPad version of iFinance 5. I live in Canada. The interface was an unprofessional pink colour. After syncing my bank transactions, Canadian dollars switched to euros even though I had set the app for Canadian dollars. I spent twenty minutes of my time to switched the euros back to Canadian dollars and I made sure the default remained set at Canadian dollars. A short time later, the currency changed to euros again. Syncing with Tangerine Bank caused the app to crash. I gave up after several retries. A Waste of time and money.

Poorly conceived, poorly implemented. I used to have good will for the publisher of iFinance. They filtered it ALL away with this app. The trial version isn't. To see if this app will connect with your accounts, you have to buy it. Spoiler: It didn't. But wait! You also have to pay for a subscription to keep the data coming. You do get a free trial week AFTER you have paid for the app, but subsequently, you get dinged on a monthly or annual basis to keep your bank accounts up to date. Even if this app were not a huge cheat, it's not reliable. As others have noted, it keeps switching accounts to be based in Euros. If you manage to connect with an account, dont assume that iFinance will fetch your data reliably. Synium have published some decent software, but this one is a dog. Stay away.

faille irréparable.... Après 11 ans d'entière satisfaction, je viens de vivre une faille tout à fait lamentable avec la perte de mes données depuis le début de l'année (de janvier à juin 2024). On ne peut rien faire et on se perd en conjectures. Dommage car, sinon, cette application était tout à fait adéquate.

Bad connection. The app is super when we get connected to your bank… plaid is not trustable… we never know if we will have connection… it’s so sorry.

Après 6 mois d'utilisation...!. Enfin une vraie base de donnée multilingue abordable et multi-plateformes... fiable... ! Une page calendrier rendrait l'application encore plus conviviale... ! Une option calcul de versement hypothécaire compléterait admirablement l'application...

IFinance 5 - A must !. I use iFinance every day since the last 8 to 10 years. This app is just fantastic. It is simple to use and if you want to keep track of your own expenses, this is the app that everybody should have. Thanks to Synium Software for this great app.

Fully loaded and if only.... I've used iFinance for years. Although I do not use all the features available-I know I should, it allows me to know where expenditures go and allows me to track costs of various projects as well. While adding data into the the program it would be nice to erase some typos in businesses that are used for a recognizd entry. The key to make a new expenditure entry could be made more readibly accessible. Those are minor but friendly additions. The graphing component is excellent for my use. Overall, I highly recommend the program.

Good application. It's nice and easy to use. I don't care about bank connections and similar functions. It's perfectly sufficient for tracking expenses and estimating net value.

Great product - has potential. I love the features and search facilities and the way to track accounts available in iFinance. I would like to see more powerful import, export capabilities which can parse fields exported by banks. I would like to see more powerful reporting capabilities which are optionally advanced. Cross account transfers need to be better supported to identify and link transactions between accounts so that they are neither expenses nor income. Being able to import data and identify two accounts which are in fact the same account, and might contain duplicates and need to be combined into one of them would be helpful I have other suggestions too

Price is misleading. This app shows a 1 time cost in the App Store, but after you install it is asking for an expensive monthly subscription. I find this as time waste, and remove the app. Very bad business practice

Very Good Accounting Program. The best accounting program for Apple Products. Has very good Budget and Analysis information and very flexible to manipulate. The only problem the I have had is with its transfering of data among iPad, iPhone and Mac. The Mac versioni is very forgiiving at data handling but the other two require that you be very precise on what you enter or the data does not get transferred to the other apps.

Not able to sync between my mac and iphone & tablet. The synchronization feature that I value most is completely not working! It used to work and I could "enable network discovery" and sync data for all devices, but now I can only use it on my Mac and can't sync it to my iPhones (both iPhone 7 and iPhone 11) and iPad 8. To be honest, this app is useless even with now the discounted price of $16.99. I would like to enter an expense on the go, but now it's not working. I stuck with using only my Mac. Please fix this immediately. I have had this syncing issue with this app for at least 4 months (since Sep 2022), and was hoping someone might report this same issue and it will get fixed. However, after so long without a solution, I decided that I will write this review to get my message across. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I really have the need to do so now!

Very good app, Outstanding support. For some time now, I've used Quicken for Mac to track our finances. Quicken is incredibly detailed but is incredibly slow and spotting synching with various financial institutions. It rarely sync'd to my iPad and iPhone, so I was looking for an alternative. I use several of Synium's other apps. They are consistently very good. The biggest hurdle for me is rethinking everything and unlearning Quicken for Mac. iFinance 5's help documentation is good, but seems to be lacking in some areas, mostly because it functions differently than Quicken. However, their customer support is outstanding. They are responsive, patient, and willing to do whatever it takes to assist. They are kind when pointing out the documentation has the answers. Quicken requires a subscription for the app but not to download and synchronize transactions. iFinance is a one-time purchase. If you only have a couple of accounts to sync, you can use the free version of Plaid. If not, like me, there is an annual subscripton for unlimited accounts. Plaid/iFinance synchronization is fantastic. They both work on all my Apple devices. No matter if where I am or what device, all my data syncs and is readily availabe. Just as in Quicken, not all institutions or accounts sync with Plaid, so you create offline accounts for those. Migration from Quicken for Mac is, unfortunately, not available. However, you can import .csv transaction files, but not Categories and Contacts. But you can create these on the fly. Now that I've learned how to use Tags, Categories, and Contacts (Payee/Payer), along with transaction Purpose, Transfer Posting with Merging, Reporting using both Categories and/or Tags, I have found that iFinance 5 is very powerful. I can use it to track my IRA and personally held stocks, which are updated everytime I open the app. No, iFinance does not export to a file to be uploaded to various tax reporting software, but I can be creative and create the means to track income and expenses for IRS reporting. So, syncing quickly and easily across all devices and spport are the deciding factors for me. I'll be canceling my subscription to Quicken for Mac. Thank you Synium!
