Legends of Runeterra Game Description & Overview

What is legends of runeterra app? In this strategy card game, skill defines your success—not luck. Mix and match iconic champions, allies, and regions of Runeterra to unlock unique card synergies and outplay your opponent.

MASTER EVERY MOMENT
Dynamic, alternating gameplay means you can always react and counter, but so can your opponent. Choose from dozens of champion cards to include in your deck, each with a different mechanic inspired by their original League of Legends abilities.

Champions enter the battle as powerful cards, and if you play smart, they level up to become even more epic. Level your champions multiple times in-game, and earn Champion Mastery crests the more you play.

ALWAYS A NEW WAY TO PLAY
Every champion and ally in the game comes from a region of Runeterra. You have access to cards from nine regions: Demacia, Noxus, Freljord, Piltover & Zaun, Ionia, Targon, Shurima, the Shadow Isles, and Bandle City.

Explore how different champions and regions work together to give you unique advantages against your opponents. Combine, adapt, and experiment with frequent new releases in an always-evolving meta.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH
In PvE, each choice you make shapes your journey. React to unique encounters, earn and equip power-ups, unlock new champions, and rise to new challenges as you move across the map. The enemies will get stronger, but so will you—and you’ll discover different endings the more you play.

PLAY TO WIN, NOT PAY TO WIN
Earn cards for free, or buy exactly what you want with shards and wildcards—you’re in control of your collection, and you’ll never pay for random packs of cards. While there’s always the option to purchase specific champions, you can easily complete your collection without spending a cent.

Victory or defeat, each battle brings experience and progress. Choose which region you explore first and unlock the cards that call to you, changing regions as often as you like. As you advance, you’ll collect new allies, spells, and champions.

Once a week, you’ll also unlock chests from the Vault. These chests level up the more you play, increasing the rarity of cards inside from common all the way up to champion. They can also contain wildcards, which can be turned into any card you want—no guessing required.

DRAFT AND ADAPT
Labs are limited-time experimental game modes focused on more extreme changes to the classic Legends of Runeterra formula. Choose a premade deck with specific constraints, or bring your own. The rules are always changing, and sometimes you might need a little help from your friends! Go see what Heimerdinger is cooking up next.

CLIMB THE RANKS
At the end of every season, 1024 qualifying Ranked players on each of LoR’s four regional shards (Americas, Asia, Europe, and Southeast Asia) will be able to compete for pride, glory, and a cash prize in the seasonal tournament.

But Ranked play isn’t the only way to qualify—you can also run the Last Chance Gauntlet. Gauntlets are limited-time competitive modes with unique rules to play around and exclusive rewards to unlock.

Easy to play, hard to master. This is one of the best MMO Strategy that you can actually play, enjoy, have fun, be competitive without spending a single dime. Collecting cards is a breeze as you get weekly vault that gives you tons of cards, chances to upgrade to higher rarity of each time you open a pack, a guarentee at least 1 champion card as long as you do daily missions. Level up your region to get even more packs, playing with bots to get use to the game, playing Path of Champion for fun and ridiculous combination, different game mode every month or so, regularly every few week for balancing cards, new set of cards, new mechanic. The game itself is a rough learning curve and you have to do PvP a lot to get use to the game mechanics, cards to play around, preserving mana, sometime you even passing turn instead of playing with the mana curve to bait out cards. But I would say compare to all the game that riot made, this is one game that Riot done right. (Of course when new cards come out they sometimes a little overpowered like the most recent Kai'sa. But they quickly balanced it out the patch after) Not to mention you can still play decks that run different strat that doesnt matter how long they been out with couple of addtion to the deck (the best way to find this is look for Grapplr who's a LoR streamer that plays different deck every day) to explain how diversity your gameplay can be and never feel bored.

Absolutely perfect. Riot has outdone themselves. This game has a constant flow of new champions and cards every month, yet is still able to feel balanced and that every champion is viable. Plus, this game is in no way pay to win. The only things you have to pay for are skins or cosmetic items which don’t affect gameplay. They give you so many free gems to purchase your cards, and also a lot of quests and XP unlock-able rewards so that you can literally collect every single card in the game without paying a dime. There also isn’t a constant grind to get these resources. Just play casually, in their many different game modes and you’ll find that you have enough gems to purchase a new card. Absolutely amazing game, I would highly recommend it to anyone who’s into Hearthstone, League of Legends, or TCGs in general. The turn system takes a few games to get used to, but it’s a very unique and intelligent way to format a card game.

Good, but needs some serious balancing. This game is really fun, but has it’s serious problems. Ever since the Bandle City release, balance has been shifted hard. Even before that update, the game favors pure strength over strategy. Problems I have: -Strategy comes down to whoever is stronger: Personally, the problem isn’t that the strongest (brute force) win. Strategy and intelligent builds aren’t rewarded, with a few exceptions. -Bandle City is OP: Almost every card from the Bandle City Release is seriously overused as they are broken. Facing them without a Bandle City deck or OP deck gives a huge disadvantage. The creators are doing good, but they should look like back and redo these cards. -Card Game Mechanics: It is slow paced and doesn’t appeal very well. I don’t feel that same satisfaction as I do from Magic or Hearthstone or even Yu-Gi-Oh. It seems that they are trying to make the game more flashy and more pleasing to the eyes. While the game is creative, that doesn’t matter when everything feels so slow. As said in the first paragraph, the game is fun. While it has it’s problems I don’t discourage people from playing it. I just don’t see myself coming back. The problems that are currently here should be looked at and fixed.

Vicious counterpick algorithm. Through multiple hours of testing I found that when playing V.S. ai games you WILL be counterpicked based on what region you play. This is very important because each region lends itself to a different playstyle with a specific win condition, e.g. Piltover does burn while Freiljord does stompy. I played a Piltover deck ten games in a row, 8 times out of 10 I faced Freiljord, Targon, or a combination of both which stuffed my entire gameplan and those games were overwhelming losses for me. Don’t lecture me about getting good because I’ve played card games for over ten years now and will not be accepting a lack of understanding or skill as an excuse for this absurd game balancing. Obviously not an issue if you solely play vs people, but I like doing ai games to bang out missions and try new decks I’ve built without too much variance in what decks I’ll face since the ai has a limited pool of decks to use against you. Hard to learn the strengths and weaknesses of a deck if you get absolutely obliterated by someone running a meta deck that cheeses you to death and whatnot, but it’s nothing new to me since I regularly play the Modern format in MTG. Once again, do not play unless you solely plan on facing real players, you won’t learn much from ai games and will get nothing out of it.

Great game. I love the game. In fact, I’m addicted to it. I love constructing decks and testing them. There are no pre-decks on sale which forces players to assemble a deck of their own. The game is also generous in rewards that gives free-to-play players a chance to fight virtually anyone even against players who spends a lot of money on the game. It is a game of luck and a game where you use your brain after all. It is a really good pastime, but it is all over the place and so imbalance in my opinion. There are regions that are too powerful. Some can end the game in less than 5 rounds. Regions that shine late game have no chance of beating them or showing off their special abilities and combos. I do not write reviews often, and I am most certainly not great at giving an objective feedback for I do not know how the developers measure the fairness of the game . In playing the game, I spend most of my time making decks than playing, but when I play, I lose most of the time because of the “imbalances” of the game. It is really discouraging for those players that I lost to have similar decks. There will come a time when all players will just use the winning deck, and they will all end up fighting with that very same deck, disregarding other potential deck combos.

Updated: Too luck based. Update: This game looked like it had promise, but beyond its pay to win model some of the cards are just too broken. They claim this is a skill based game, but it’s 70% luck and 30% skill. More often than not you are going to find yourself frustrated because your opponent had a card that was too much value for its cost. This game is missing fundamental card designs that allow you to adjust your odds (think draw engines and land ramp in MTG) so more often than not, you won’t be able to answer your opponents best cards, vice versa when you are getting lucky. It defeats the purpose of trying to get better when your decisions make such a small impact. Old review: Lots of balance problems. The games are way too swingy and some cards are just flat out busted. Also, this game is pay to win. Some champions and epic cards are wayyyy too strong to take down (basically impossible) if you haven’t paid or grinded on the f2p for a long time. Honestly Riot, balance your cards so that one card can’t take the whole game. Some of the champions or followers get out of control and you can’t do anything to stop the onslaught.

Very Generous Game. I love this deck builder because of how much it rewards you, and how it often gives what you want. The loot boxes you get as you go along are stacked, they often give “wild cards” for you to get cards you want, you can pick which “class” you want the loot boxes to focus on and you can switch it at anytime, and on top of that there’s a weekly loot box that gives you even more cards! Really the only problem you’ll ever get is with epic cards and champions (basically legendaries), and even then game tries its best to be reasonable. As long as you play to level up your weekly loot box, your guaranteed as least one champion a week. You can very easily use in game currency since it gives you so much so often. And let me remind you that any card you earn has a chance to “upgrade”, turning into a more rare card or a wildcard. In short, Legends of Runeterra has a rewards system so overwhelmingly kind and generous that in puts the likes of Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone to shame, and I couldn’t possibly be more happy and grateful for it. Thank you Riot for allowing me to build the decks I love with ease and no shame, and for being merciful to my back account.

#NoSpon. I’ll tell you now, it’s a decent card game, has an amazing turn system is the best part. But to people who want to pretend like there’s no luck they don’t play card games. You still need to draw the card you need when you need it and sometimes you do just get unlucky, it’s not chess, and that’s fine. The top review talks about hearthstone being pay to win, same here, you can spend in game currency to buy stuff, some champs are broken and combining champs is fun but expensive, you can grind out game after game to eventually grind enough to get your champs for free, or you can pay roughly $3 per champ card. Where it’s different from hearthstone is you can buy individual cards, you’re not forced to buy card packs (thank god, it’s about time). This makes it more like magic or any other traditional card game. Point being, you like card games? Great! But this is still a card game and has those inherit issues some don’t like, still a mix of skill (plenty) and luck, and still a pay to win game; not that either of those are inherently bad, I love card games, I just see reviews and the app describing itself inaccurately.

It’s not that Noob Friendly. I love League of Legends and find this to be a simpler card game I can possibly grasp, in aim to enjoy a card game with a lover of playing this type of stuff- To add, we’re both lovers of League of Legends too. The thing is- The tutorial isn’t noob friendly, especially for those like me who have a hard time grasping understanding for card mechanics on its own. At first it’s fine, it makes you play the certain cards in order and tells you about them, but then after that it just gives you the cards to read with mechanics you never heard of and leaves you to figure it out. I sat here having to go through ‘try again’ after ‘try again’, slowly feeling more and more like an idiot unable to do it on my own to instead ask my friend to hand hold me what to do. Now this was for certain challenges understanding the hook mechanic and scout and so on so forth. It would have been much better for these tutorial challenges, because they are tutorials for various different cards, to be a bit more hand holding or have an optional setting to turn on for hand holding on what to do. You can say, sit and figure it out- Which I can do, but I need to grasp how things work before I can start thinking on my own. This review mainly applies to those who can relate to me on this, having a hard time in general grasping card games and just want a better tutorial. I shouldn’t have to be spending more than two or five minutes trying to figure out how to play the cards...

Biggest Mistake Ever. I appreciate the concept of LoR and I can see what Riot was going for but don't be fooled. Unless you're interested in more lore this game is not for you. The sharp graphics and colorful effects are just a huge distraction from what a massive cash grab this game is. The game pretty much plays itself and offers little to no decision making when deciding who wins the game. The game is left entirely up to which card you are lucky enough to draw and I know what you're thinking "It's a card game that's how it's supposed to be" and I agree but the system in which cards interact is so poor that there is one definitive card deck that will beat any other deck 100% time and the only way to obtain that is by either 1. Paying your way to get it... or 2. signing in to claim currency through rewards. and by going through option 2 you'd basically be looking at a card game that nearly plays itself with how obvious the RNG is such a prime factor in you winning a game or not. I like the idea of it all and everything plays smooth but when you remove the flashing effects you're basically doing nothing. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would not even worth a try.

Great ideas, stunning visuals and fun gameplay ruined by recent poor balancing. So I’ve been playing this game since it came out earlier this year and it really is a lot of fun (I’ve unlocked virtually every card), but I’ve found since the two most recent updates, which added landmarks and the K/DA spells the game has become completely unbalanced and I find probably 1 out of every 3 games I play involve the other player just cheesing the game’s mechanics to win. A good example of this is the 12-cost card “feel the rush” and the landmark “howling abyss”, which, while interesting game-ending cards can be used early in the game due to items such as targon’s peak and spells that increase mana gems. I’ve seen too often a game where I’m actually playing units and battling and the opposing player just uses a ton of mechanical cards to make them able to afford feel the rush around round 5 or 6, which, unless you’re running the same deck, is virtually unbeatable. Sadly as much as I have enjoyed the game (and for a long time even daily), these broken cards have ruined my playing experience entirely. I understand the need to spice things up as a growing game and the desire to use the K/DA IP, but these new additions were clearly not sufficiently thought out and have ended my enjoyment of the game.

Fantastic!. LoR is so much fun! I’ve played Hearthstone for a while but recently have been very disappointed with it, so I decided to give Runeterra a shot. I am absolutely in love with it! The game is so generous - no gambling, you can get the cards you want very easily but still have the excitement of opening the packs you earn. I never played much LoL but I love how much personality this game has, with each card having multiple voice lines and interactions with other cards. All of the artwork is beautiful and I love the different region aesthetics too. I will say that the learning curve is a lot steeper than Hearthstone, but once you’ve gotten the hang of it you’ll be hooked. The system of turns and rounds makes every match feel interactive - you can always respond to your opponent and losses don’t feel bad like they do in other games. Sorry for the very long review but I just want everyone to try out this amazing game. Good luck and have fun!

Best Card Game. I am a big enthusiast of ccg games and strategy games, so I found this game randomly browsing the App Store one night. Boy am I glad I did. This game is exactly what a card game should be. It’s easy enough to understand but has little nuances that separate bad players from good players. Many strategies are viable and many more are extremely fun to play. No money has to be spent at ALL to be successful, with games like hearthstone or mtg arena you have to empty your bank account just to get a couple of viable decks to climb the ladder, while with this game a couple hours a week will see you being able to buy any cards and compile whatever deck or strategy u like. There are many different game modes, all of which are fun and unique in their own ways. This is an EXCELLENT game, and I had never even heard of league of legends before I started playing it. To the people who work on this game thank you for making it an unbelievably positive experience, caring about the meta, balancing cards and fixing bugs and issues. Well done to everyone involved in this game, this is exactly what card games should be.

Amazing in so many ways!. I’ve played CCGs for 25+ years—this game is amazing! It is a legitimate competitor for best CCG type game! Free-Friendly, Truly Skill-based, Highly Interactive, Playable Variety, Incredibly Fun, and this game is beautiful too! Free-Friendly: This game isn’t just generous, it really wants even free-to-play to get all the cards to enjoy all of the decks you can compete with! You can build a Tier 1 deck for free in just a couple of weeks. Many players have collected a playset of all of the cards without paying for cards!but if you do want to just buy cards, they are incredibly cheap! Truly Skill Based: this game manages its RNG and luck factors incredibly well! A lot of design decisions have enabled this game to reduce bad luck factors, reward skill, and the play is filled with many interesting decisions! The spell mana system is a wonderful mechanics innovation that reduces the runaway board state problem. Highly Interactive: The devs describe it as “conversational play.” This plays fast, but also plays interactively—the impact of each players’ decisions are felt action-by-action as rounds are filled with swift but thoughtful call-and-response gameplay. It feels great and is constantly engaging! Playable Variety: Lots of deck types, lots of amazing champions, lots of strategy and tactics! Do not sleep on this game! It’s the real deal and is a big step forward for Collectible Card Games!

Absolutely Wonderful. Coming from a long time Hearthstone player (since beta) this game is just great. The combat system may be a little difficult for some to grasp initially but it allows for some very interesting games. I’ve made very silly mistakes but I’ve also capitalized on others mistakes. The ability to float mana for spells makes turns where you don’t have a play not feel so wasted. The devs are routinely updating and pushing out balance patches. The game is VERY ftp friendly. If you would like to spend some money and support the game then your able to buy individual cards! That’s right no packs. No loot boxes. No pay to win aspects what so ever. This game has to have the most generous store of any free game I’ve ever played. They give you tons of free cards for each region just for playing the game. But wait there’s more each week you get what’s called the weekly vault and inside yep you guessed it more free cards. So if your a ftp or someone who spends some money on games I think you'll be happy with this game. I’d give this game more then 5 stars if I was able. 5 stars 2 thumbs up. Thank you to the developers of LOR I’ve sunk more hours into this game then I care to talk about. Keep up the hard work!

Best card game since MTG. Been playing this game nonstop since beta and it’s everything I could have hoped for in a card game. Incredible dynamic and open-ended synergies let your creative juices flow designing decks with crazy combos. Region identities lend certain strengths and weaknesses to deck archetypes, allowing for savvy players to design counters, while the option to combine 2 regions to form a deck allow you options to cover your weaknesses. The ability to ‘bank’ up to 3 unused mana is genius, and allows more controlling decks to flourish even if they draw bricks on the first 2 turns. I could go on but if you like card and strategy games, this game is absolutely worth your time. Oh, did I mention this game is truly free? I’ve acquired every card in the game and haven’t spent a dime on anything besides cosmetics. As a new player this could take a while but they have a really great catch-up mechanic where new players get cards at 150% the rate of other players.

AAA Breath of fresh air. I could literally go on for paragraph after paragraph about all the positives about this game but I hate writing reviews even tho this game warrants I do so. Instead I will simply list the 3 reasons that everyone who loves this genre should know. 1) It is UNBELIEVABLY deep.... calling it strategic is a vast understatement. 2) It is NOT pay to win....so refreshing that I can’t simply dump a ton of money into and have an instant advantage...the system for getting the tier of card u want is near genius. 3) the amount of effort that went into development of this game is as deep or deeper than the unlimited strategies one implements while playing it....the graphics, gameplay, the sheer polish of the game itself.....it’s been along time since I’ve come across a game of this type that could not only stand up to the giants of it genre like MTG,Hearthstone, etc.,but surpass them in almost every way. If u sleep on this ur only hurting urself. Easily the best CTCG of this generation.

Great Design, Unbalanced Gameplay. As someone who has been a part of the League community for a while, I was excited to see that Riot came out with their own style of card game. I love the overall design and different events, but when it comes to actual gameplay there are way way way way way too many overpowered cards/ easy win conditions. 8 out of every 10 games I have played go the exact same way: I build a fun little gimmick deck like poros or jinx (my favorite champ) only to get obliterated by someone who looks online for their deck. I’ve kept a list of the top five game winning decks and face them almost every single game all while the opponent spams emotes at me. It takes the fun out of trying to make any other deck besides the try hard ones. It’s always been a joke within the community that Riot makes completely overpowered gameplay mechanics but in this game it turns fiction into reality. Cards that completely negate damage and destruction of units, to cards that pull an Uno reverse and turn your game from a victory into an immediate defeat for you. I really want to enjoy this game but because of these unbalanced and unfair gameplay mechanics I find myself constantly shaking my head in disbelief from my opponents decks.

Phenominal. Completely free to play. You can buy cards with real money, but waiting a week or two of gameplay will get you 3 copies of a champion and plenty of lesser cards. I’ve never seen a game more generous with rewards, a deck is 40 cards and you can build one from no cards in about a week, slightly more if you want 6 new champion cards. That’s if you rely only on wildcards, there’s plenty of random rewards alongside them. The card arts and descriptions add so much to the world of Runeterra that started with league, telling stories of their own. Babbling Bjerg, those weird ocean friends, the sumprats gang and the crimsons, they’ve all never been mentioned before, yet they all have 5+ cards that tie together a story. We get to see things only briefly mentioned in the universe tab fleshed out and breathing, Elnuks, Cithria, Elise’s victims, Heimer’s inventions. It’s not just a game, it’s an addition to the lore universe, and a huge one at that. Hardcore Heathstone and Magic fans probably won’t come over, but I truly believe that majority of new card game players who hear of this game should primarily play LoR. It’s incredibly well put together, new player friendly, and the world behind it feels alive and believable.

Free collection. I’ve played off and on since this game has come out and almost have a complete collection without ever spending a single penny. Starting from scratch now would probably be slow, but you get a good chunk of cards every week from the vault rewards and you get control over what new decks to make with their resource system. You could make at least one new deck every month pretty much. Honestly I’ve had more fun with hearthstone. But hearthstone, at least when I played, was so expensive that even dropping 50$ an expansion would keep you way behind in collection and on top of that it incentivized destroying your own cards for minuscule amounts of currency if you want to save money. Felt pretty bad. LoR is a decent card game and it rewards you well for putting time in if you want to be free to play. You don’t need to buy a collection but the cosmetics are fun if you still want to support the game.

An Exceptionally Fair Card Game. I am not embellishing at all when I say you can earn a massive amount of cards for this game without spending a dime. Daily quests and bonus experience up to certain levels on reward tracks mean you’re getting a new bundle of cards, wildcards, and shards every day or two. It slows down after but it’s always generous. Different from the dust system in Hearthstone, you have shards which can buy any card directly, wildcards which can be traded in for any card of the same rarity, then the premium currency can also buy cards outright. NO cards packs, NO guessing, and NO praying you get what you want. It’s all centered around getting exact cards outside of FREE rewards from your chosen region and the weekly cache you build up by earning experience. It’s important to note: aside from refunding a card or cards you made or bought (with any currency btw) before using them, there’s NO way to lose cards like dusting for meta decks and good or buffed legendary cards in Hearthstone. Here, you keep it all and can’t ever lose cards trying to get currency for new cards.

Good but.... The game is good. It’s solid. But lord if you aren’t playing a early-mid game deck. For some reason just filling your deck with 2-3 mana units and rushing an opponent works better than any other strategy in the game. Want to try and survive until you have nine mana to play that powerful noxian battleship? To bad you got rushed at turn three and only have 6 health left while your opponent finishes you with spells. Want to level up your here in order to sway the game in your favor? To bad here is Zed and I level him up in one turn and then rally to attack again. Hell even just your opponent playing an evasive unit on turn one or 2 it will take slower decks 3 turns later to deal with that one unit. I’m not saying the game should be slower, when two equal decks meet it’s a great game and I’m always on the edge of my seat. I’m saying Piltover and Zaun works way to well with noxus when it comes to swarming and attacking the nexus directly. Why play a 5+ mana unit when you need to block their 3-5 attackers with skills that hit your nexus anyway?

Good game overall. One thing needs to be nerfed, though. I love this game. It has saved me from countless hours of boredom. It has a simple way to play, but the combinations you can do between cards are near endless. There is only one problem for me, though. It’s a strategy that needs to be nerfed so badly. It’s the Maokai and bilgewater strategy. Maokai is an insanely good unit, and people will just use him and the rest of their cards will be the toss cards. It’s no fun to play against and you lose every single time unless you can get the game done in about five rounds, which almost never happens. I really enjoy this game, but I refuse to even consider using the strategy, it’s just too broken. Maybe make a nerf that doesn’t allow tossing to be a form of Maokai ‘s ability, and take the amount of units that have to die down to fifteen. This would be balanced enough to actually win against him.

Way more fun than you’d expect.. I did not have high expectations when I was asked to play this game by my friends. I have tried other card games like this in the past and was bored rather quickly. This game is far different. This game has character; the cards themselves speak and react to other cards as if it was a natural conversation. The animations are fluid and beautiful, no lack of flair here! The PvE mode is great in its own write, not just to learn the ropes (as there’s also the challenges mode for this), but the variations available there prevent you from being bored. You can also use animated stickers to react to the match along with your opponent, some cheeky fun there. If you also play this on your PC the transition is flawless, and can even save your last round in the match. All in all, I would’ve never thought I’d enjoy a game like this as much as I have so far

First review for any app... incredible. While it can be daunting for someone who has never played any card games, LoR is by far the best fresh-player TcG out there. Synergy and flavor are packed into each card, and each game always feels like a strategic battle. The monetization in this game is almost TOO good. I’ve played a couple months since launch and already have every card. Period. No spending money. No insane win rate with “pay to enter” game modes. Just a dude that plays daily can get a full collection in no time. Compare that with hearthstones model: about 60 packs per 4 months can unlock the new expansion, but will require constant play time and lucky pulls on legendaries. Not to mention with hearthstone, it is extremely unforgiving with time. I’ve spend $150 over the course of 2 years, but still feel poor with every new expansion. The devs really care about this game too, every 2 WEEKS is a balance patch to keep things fresh, and about every 2 months new cards drop. We’ve also got new game modes, cosmetics, and battle-pass events in that time frame.

Vet of Hearthstone and Shadowverse, V impressed. Guys, I love this game! I have sunk 100s of dollars into Hearthstone in the past and have grown sick of the tired old mechanics and merciless pay-to-play blizzard whole heartedly adopted so long ago. It’s the same with so many other titles. This game stands out to me as exceptionally free to play friendly. I unlocked all of the first reward line in a few hours and received many cool cards in packs. You can’t buy packs, instead you buy “wild cards” that are a 1/1 trade for whatever rarity it is you bought. This game is refreshing! It’s originality makes it somewhat unintuitive, but that actually made me pay attention for once in a well made tutorial. There are lots of tool tips, but some card interactions and affects aren’t clear and I had to experiment. There are “burst” or instant spells, sorta like trap cards from Yugio is the closest reference I can think of, you can cast if you have enough mana. Sometimes these have janky play when both players cast the same one at the same time. The turn based mechanics and spell cast variety is impressive and smooth after you play for a while. Each class has lots of cards and champion units that you can build strategy around. You can mix “regions”, think MTG red, white, green, black etc decks to create hybrids! This is a great game, I will be playing a long time and I dearly hope you do too so we can keep the community up.

Only missing 120hz support. This review is similar to those that said the release was unexpectedly better than teamfight tactics - in that the iPad Pro support on initial release was a pleasant surprise. I expected this to go the same way as TFT where I have to wait for an update or something, but instead this app is loaded with cursor support, customizable graphics settings, etc. While this is all very nice, I have yet to see anything on refresh rate support for the iPad Pro. I think the only thing that could’ve made this release better is support for the iPads 120hz display. I’m hoping that in the near future we will see something in the settings allowing you to change the framerate of the game - especially considering how it has such short, snappy animations. Enclosing I’m pleased with the way this release went. We all know how riot usually does things, especially how their league client acts and how their users look at the company - but this is a pleasantly clean and polished release for a change. I hope riot will make note of this and start doing things this way all the time. Good job riot.

Better than MTGA and Hearthstone. For me this game is the perfect intersection between Magic and Hearthstone. You can respond to most spells, choose blockers, and cast during combat (like MTG), but you also have mana that refills every round and damage that persists on creatures (like Hearthstone). It honestly takes the best parts of Magic (which I’ve played in paper format for a long time) and converts it to digital beautifully, without suffering being overly simplistic like Hearthstone is for me. Lots of interaction between you and your opponent, tons of interesting mechanics and different decks even though the game has just released, and it’s very non-pay-to-win; like other Riot games, you can generally grind for everything you need to put together decks at a reasonable rate, and then if you want to pay for cosmetics you can (the pets are pretty cute). Amazing CCG all around and I highly recommend it to both casual and hardcore card game fans!

Easy to build a collection, simple to play but complex strategy and interactions. Easily the best digital card game on the market right now. I came mostly from a less known “tactical card game” “Duelyst” that shut down, and while this game doesn’t have the same kind of positioning, it excels in all the ways a card game should. I’ve never spent a dollar trying to build a collection— I have so many “shards” saved up I could easily buy any new cards that come out if I want, and it should be easy for new players to get the decks they want to try with just a little commitment, the game is very generous with its rewards and in giving “wildcards”which let you craft a copy of any card of that type. The main complaint I have is with how often patches or updates roll out; I would love to see changes to the meta be more frequent, even if it’s just minor nerfs/buffs to over/underplayed archetypes and cards respectively. The new PvE updates have been exciting and are great for those looking for casual gameplay and a challenge alike, nice to have where you don’t have the stress of the timer and fighting a “real” opponent. Honestly amazing for a free game that’s ACTUALLY playable as free, just want to see even more open communication from the devs and faster patches to the game if possible. Still 5/5 stars atm though.

Honestly a spammy piece of crap. The only good part about this game is presentation. Other than that you can expect to be winning one round, and all the sudden the enemy has wiped your field and has two enemies with 30/30 and overwhelm. What that means is that you no longer have anything to defend your nexus, and you have to take 60 damage to your nexus with 20 hp when they attack. There are cards that do that. There are cards that make you cast every spell twice. That means you can have an ally with 30 attack attack ALL enemies twice. Or deal 5 damage to the nexus through a spell. TWICE. There are cards that combine all effects you have into one giant card with 40/40 and then DOUBLE THAT. Now you have to take 80 damage because in one turn the enemy just yeeted your winning strategy into no I win because I want to and I payed to win. There is no balance between cards, or takes hours of awful and slow gameplay to any good cards. It has another loot crate system to get new cards. They are sorted into factions which it cool, but still just cards from random crates. You can get cards from wildcards that let you get any card you want, but people who pay to win get them faster and have multiple copies so I mean, why bother playing. No balence, pay to win, awful gameplay, ok presentation, and slow, slow progression.

Some really annoying glitches for IOS. The game is fun, and as far as TCG games go riot is quite generous in giving you what you need to make a decent deck early. Whales still get a bit of an advantage but you can definitely make due if you are not wanting to drop a wad of cash. Okay, so now my beef: I’ve been running into a very frustraiting and annoying glitch where the cards will get stuck when moving them into play (either from my deck to the bench or from my bench into play), most of the time tapping on another card will free it up, but on several occasions when the timer is ticking down I’ve missed being able to commit the card to play or I’ve been unsuccessful in being able to unlock the card at all and it remained stuck (and therefor unusable) for the entirety of the game. I’m running a late 2018 IPad Pro so I doubt it’s the device. I’d be happy to change my rating to a higher one once this gets fixxed but it is so frustraiting to lose games because I can’t commit a card to play rather than just losing because the other player is better. I do hope Riot Games will look into this and remedy it. I do very much like this game and would like to see it become a staple in the TCG genre.

Ever-changing metas ruin this game. I love so many things about Legends of Runeterra, I have had so much fun playing this game. Recently however, it has been very frustrating to play competitive because of the ever-changing metas. When a new champion is released, Riot wants everybody to buy them and their accompanying cards, and so they make the new cards so powerful they beat out every other meta in the game. This makes competitive play exceedingly frustrating. Either you buy the new cards and do whatever the current meta is, or you get beat out by the meta. There are so many cool and creative decks which you can build in LOR, but if you want to win then you must abide by the meta. This is why I enjoy games like League of Legends, because new champions do not weaken old ones so much where they become obsolete. Creative and innovative combos can beat out the approved metas all the time because they can be very powerful as well. Riot needs to balance their game so that each region is powerful enough to hold against other ones, EVEN the new decks.

Pretty healthy for a start of a card game. I have to admit that a card game isn’t a “riot game”. But I love the idea of bring original characters to this game and almost all effects and music is marvelous. I hope more characters will be drawn in. The strategy system, however, is a little bit un-fun. There are many burst spell and fast spell that does more than a one-card value. Base on the reaction phase system, these spell usually can be deflect or erased with ease. Many times the purpose of these spell will just simply get turn down by a single +1+1 burst. Not that I bialy defend control deck, but too many spell is fit in many burn deck or mid range, and control deck doesn’t have a particular follower to reacts to that. To give each type of deck a equal survivability(which I believe is riot’s ultimate goal on every game they have), there is something to be done to give late game deck some special system. The no duplicate system in Hearthstone is a great example, but I think riot does have a better way to change this situation.

Best card game I’ve ever played. This game gives you lots of options for deck building and it’s always fun customizing and testing out new builds. Cards don’t take long to acquire and there’s a nice system that lets you choose which ones you want to unlock using in game currency. I personally went all in and payed for copies of each card soon after buying it because I knew I would be playing this far into the future. There’s no single deck build that will win you every game. Like every card game there’s always the luck of the draw, but as you play and build your experience you will begin to see which cards matter most for the approach you are going for. Things like starting units, buffs, counters, champions, spells, and how you play them will make or break you. It’s turn based so you and your opponent will each take a turn to attack and defend. Cards are summoned with mana and each turn your mana is refilled and given a plus 1. Ranked matchmaking will put you against people of similar skill level and each victory ads points towards a weekly unlock that gets a boost every time you go up in level. There are also daily challenges that boosts your points after completion.

Good game!. I really like this game and suggest others playing it for those who like league of legends, for me personally I don’t know that much about league of legends because I’ve never played it before or know much of the story, but I’ve seen videos and other people play the game and kinda figured out how it works, it’s like the game Vainglory however until Vainglory changed drastically and ended up as trash because it no longer has any of its normal stuff anymore. I like playing this game because I can play with my brother, also since I’m a big nerd I find it fun and slightly similar to a card game known as MTG aka magic:the gathering. Recommend the game for those looking to entertain themselves of course the game takes WiFi so that may be a down thing for those who go on road trips or vacations who want to play the game without WiFi. But good game!

Creative, Innovative, Fun and Unbalanced. This game is quite fun and unique. Nevertheless the game is heavily dependent on RNG. I constantly draw the same one copy of cards out of the 3 in my deck. Why would a card game of 40 cards in deck start with only 4 cards. The reason i have one copy is get it later on in the match. Not at the beginning. As new player match making is very unbalanced. Even so a lot spells and units are over powered. It all comes down to what you draw. And the most ridiculous and angering part of match making is the time it takes for people to make a choice. Even a new player as myself don’t take no more than 20 - 30 seconds to make a choice. Whereas more experienced players take way too long to figure out their next move. Please reduce that waiting time by half. It makes matches take up unnecessary time. Enough to quit even though you have the lead. The only reason you get 3 stars is because of the labs and uniqueness of the game

Some usability issues please fix. First why is there no general feedback section for the support tickets, not everything wrong with an app is a bug. I like the game so far but I am having issues: When viewing rewards like the cards from a card pack I can’t read all the cards before the screen goes to sleep and if I tap anywhere on the screen it continues and hides all my new cards So I don’t even know what my rewards were. Makes it feel not very rewarding. One of the login rewards I got was some kind of expedition token but the reward screen didn’t even have a description of it and if I tapped on it it continued and again didn’t feel like much of a reward. Also I want to be able to uncover the new cards one by one as it feels more rewarding and like discovery instead of having them all flashed at me without enough time to read them. None of these are technically bugs but they are all things that feel pretty bad and if they were fixed it would make the app a lot more enjoyable.

Amazing Card Game. Generous card game that lets you make decks based on your favorite league champs and play styles. The art, voice direction, and music is all awesome. It also expands on Runeterra’s lore really well, abs gives cool stories, like Pantheon and his followers fighting Camphor, the demon who feeds on doubt. In terms of gameplay, if you like to play Magic: the Gathering and Hearthstone, you’ll feel right at home. It’s a turn based combat system, so when you do something , your opponent will usually get to react, and vice versa. It gives both players agency and power in each turn, and highly rewards game knowledge! There are multiple play styles, whether you like playing aggro, midrange, or a spellslingng control deck. There are also alternative win conditions aside from reducing your opponent to 0 hit points. There’s lots of ways you can win! I can’t recommend trying this game enough. It has a bit of a learning curve at the start, but it’s very fun, rewarding, and aesthetically pleasing.

Ehhhh. When I first started playing legends of Runeterra, I was very impressed with the game. The creators did an amazing job creating a well balanced game where you don’t have to pay to win. Words can’t even explain how hard it is to find a game of this caliber. However, the newest expansion has quickly changed my opinion. The new expansion offers a series of cards that are overpowered in my opinion. Though that new expansion doesn’t have a lot of “fast” cards included in it, it instead has followers that gain abilities just by playing them either first or second. It also includes a lot of cards with multiple abilities such as spell shield and fury. Since this expansion has come out, I feel as though have seen a large majority of players using these cards which has took a lot of the diversity, and therefore, the fun out of the game. There are hardly any viable picks to counter these cards unless you can end the game in five turns if even that. The game started out fun, balanced, and with a lot of diverse strategies that could prove effective, but I feel as though this has quickly changed into an unbalanced mess that I hope they are able to fix.

I HOPE IT CAN BE BETTER. The characteristics of the lor card also make people uncomfortable point I personally feel is that there are too many rounds, not played magic CARDS only played hearthstone, the kind of play hearthstone turn thinking is applicable to the lor card is very uncomfortable. With the three speed modes of the spell, the pass pass game creates difficulty for the comb's play. The limitation of the card category and the upper limit of the 20 HP can easily lead to the unsolvable field or the unit cost in block and the failure to gain the advantage in the attack round, which leads to the sudden sudden death in the early and middle stages. Some hero card size is not enough, upgrade conditions are too harsh. The card group is basically composed around the hero card, in the case of zero payment in the early stage without the formation of the card group, and there are restrictions on the two kinds of restrictions, basically in the ladder. In short, it's hard to play. I'll keep trying.

Tremendous game with fantastic updates. **Update** The game is still has many amazing features but in my humble opinion, the game rules need to change a bit. The turn clock needs to be shortened and there needs to be real consequences if you use up your time. This game is chess-like and so the clock should be a real factor. Even if this was just a mode in ranked games, there needs to be an option to pace a game up rather than games taking 20-30 minutes. Between work, family, etc I just don’t have the time to sit down and play a bunch of 20 minute games. **Original review** This game will definitely continue to be a top game in my opinion. The design is pretty amazing because the gameplay is varied and requires careful understanding of the cards. This is not a freemium game as you can play without paying, ever. The sound design is incredible. Play with headphones on or with volume. The new level up animations with the addition of Shurima are incredible but this has had the unintended outcome of making the old animations (I’m looking at you, Kalista) look really dated. If those could get facelifts, that would be amazing. Aside from getting the aesthetics nearly perfect, I appreciate the complexity of the gameplay.

One Year Disappointment. I don’t usually write reviews but seeing most reviews are from a year ago an update on the game is definitely needed. The game is fun I own an upper 80% of all cards in the game and can say there are many fun things to try out. For most people who haven’t been playing since core, you will notice that you will feel very limited in what you can make and to be honest I have seen my friends quit on that alone. Their are now pre made decks for sale and while MOST are not meta by any means the fact remains there are so many cards in the game new people often feel forced to buy cards in order to not get completely annihilated just using what you start out with. Balance has always been an issue but as the game has now become more ranked and live competition focused balance changes are seldom and rarely do anything to make a major impact. And while having a competitive scene is cool, getting no changes for 8 weeks (and counting) most certainly isn’t. Playing the game you will find that so decks are alot more effective than others and some are outright unplayable which is sad because one of the coolest things from this type of card game was that cards could be reworked into something better if Riot wanted to.

Too Much Animation Slows Game. There’s so much animation that I spend a lot of time annoyed at cutscenes and such. Very little as explained about how to navigate the app,Which as a new player can be very annoying as you wonder ‘why’ about just about everything. There is a ton of solo content if you don’t wanna play PVP, but the way the solo continent is structured means that you will be playing lots of games over and over and over again. The progression seems tedious (and very at the mercy of RNGeezus) and aimed towards padding the number of hours players use the app. The game is kind of fun, but loses its appeal after you realize how much time you’re going to have to spend focused on all of this nonsense. For PVP, you’re either going to have to slog through the solo content nonsense (see above) to gather ‘shards’ to buy cards, or you’re gonna have to use a real world of money to buy cards. So at some point, wherever that intersection lies, this just becomes another Heathstone.

Great Game, balance issues. Love the game, the concept, the art, the animations. But I ran into a huge issue while trying to climb the ranked ladder. And it was a single card. Unyielding spirit. This card makes the ally you play it on unkillable. They can’t take damage or die. If you put this on a Flora they can win a game so easily and there is nothing you can do about it. I’ve had so many matches where I’ve played near flawlessly, but even if I’m on 20 health and they have 1.... ONE. As long as they get this card and play it on a fiora it’s game over. There are like 2 or 3 counters to this. However, they all recruiter either Ionia or bilgewater. I do not like the play style of either of these regions. I prefer freljord and demacia. I shouldn’t have to rebuild all of my decks and change the way I want to play because of a single cars. I’ve lost at least 20 games against that horribly broken card. It stalled my progress and it’s extremely frustrating and I question whoever on the balancing team allowed it into the game. Seriously what were you guys thinking. I turned to game forums and reddit to see I was not alone, there’s people from silver to challenger complaining about it. After I lost 2 ranks due to so many players using this OP combo, i uninstalled. Will not be playing again until this card is balanced or removed.

Best f2p card game on the market. Collection: Without paying it’s relatively quick and can be easily done through pve. Within a week or two depending on luck, you should have enough to buy a competitively viable deck. The weekly vault gives better rewards with more play and gives one or more champion cards per week. Paying for a pass ($10) can rapidly accelerate your collection progress, but is unnecessary as you will still eventually have several competitive decks with regular play. Gameplay: Pve path of champions mode has rewards which transfer to all other modes. So, you can comfortably learn the game and grow your collection before diving into the pvp elements if desired. Ranked ladder is bo1 and climbing is fairly smooth as the gains/losses aren’t very punishing until high ranks. The meta is shaken up frequently with balance patches and hotfixes. There are regularly 20+ meta decks for a given patch. Devs + Community: Riot dev team is extremely responsive and has been on a hot streak with balance. Communication is pretty solid on both the subreddit and twitter. The surrounding websites for LoR are the best part of the game for me. The game’s API allows for detailed stat tracking, so new decks are discovered quickly and metas change constantly.

Most F2P Friendly TCG Out There. This is my first review for an app on the IOS App Store here, and that’s because I believe this game deserves that level of praise. I initially started playing when the game came out but took a long break after getting into Magic the Gathering (in real life that is, not arena). However, I had to sell my collection after play groups died down and financial issues set in, but I remembered how free to play friendly this game was. Looking to fill that TCG sized hole in my heart again (and also hearing that some friends started to get into it), I started regularly playing again, and already I have grown my collection substantially after about say 2 weeks with no purchase necessary. The new (to me at least) PvE game mode, Path of champions, is seriously fun, and I wish more TCG games had similar or at least just as as good of quality PvE content for FREE. Ranked and pvp is always there for the competitive players, and it remains pretty diverse from what I’ve seen on meta reports and playing some pvp games here and there. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get into a F2P friendly and quality TCG, and just like watching arcane, you don’t have to like or play league of legends to enjoy legends of runeterra!

Phenomenal iPad Pro Support. After Riot gave a shaky initial release on iPad for Teamfight Tactics, I was genuinely concerned Legends of Runeterra would meet the same fate. I am happy report that this is NOT the case. The iPad support for this title is EXCELLENT! Day 1 release support for Apple Keyboards, Magic Trackpad, not to mention full utilization of the iPad Pro’s resolution and screenspace; and it plays SO well with touch. And of course, full cross-platform progression - so my account has all of my progression, purchases, and my card collection from the beta on PC. As a fellow developer and longtime CCG fan, it’s clear this is this team’s passion project and it bleeds through in every update and quality of life change. If you’re looking for a new game to flex your deck building and tactical skills, look no further. You’ve found it in Legends of Runeterra - which arguably might be the best CCG in a decade. An elegant and intuitive interface, a novel evolve mechanic, and incredible meta balance since beta. Runeterra is a gem.

Great card game! 5 stars. I have been playing the game for sometime now and a few suggestion to the makers of this game: 1. More quest: Have a monthly subscription to monthly quests and/or weekly quests rather than just free to play. This also means that those monthly subscription would have trials of boards, guardians, card backs etc. 2. Give out trial cards or let users puck which card would they want to try out. Don’t just give away cards. Or have a conversion where players can swap the cards they don’t like to a card that they like. 3. Ranking Ladder: I have no reason to complain, it is simple but make it like LoL. Have 10 promotional games and have the player go through the series. Have metrics that tracks losing, maybe forgive the player, have lesser minus points. Also, award players that are in a winning streak, more points and a protection barrier if they lose for the first time. 4. Replay and statistics on the players deck, which deck is successful, which deck is not. Also, on the end-game, let the player have a peek on the opposing players deck. In that way, the player could gain knowledge where he went wrong and next time improve the deck he has or make the correct decisions next game. 5. Have a friendly social media scope and more tutorials. The game overall is great: concept, artwork, interface. Good job Riot!

Why 0 cards = L. Why is it that I am about to stomp my opponent into the ground and bring home that sweet bread and suddenly I lose the game because I run out of cards????? This is so strange because it completely takes away from any sort of card burn or deep strategies that could be used. It means that unless you have a nautilus to bring back all of the 4+ deep sea monsters you may just straight up lose just as you hit your strongest power spike in the whole match! Absolutely backwards thinking here guys— really hope this is just a bug that will be ironed out in the near future. Otherwise this is a great game would recommend... just avoid using a deep deck with a hardcore burner strategy, it will only leave you heartbroken just as you load up your whole squad with the strongest creatures in the game just to take that fat L as the next round starts. Please fix this it not only makes deep decks near unusable but it puts your whole game on a timer to when YOU will lose to yourself just because you tossed too many cards.

Long term player (deleted game). At first I really enjoyed the game. So I spent money built some decks got a lot of champions. So I’m able to build numerous decks. The algorithm at the higher levels are once you get more cards in your deck set you up with people that are your complete counter to your deck or so it seems. So as I went up in ranks I found that it pitted me more against decks that completely counted me in any deck that I built regardless of which deck I switched to it still put me with complete counters. Especially so when expansions come out. So as in over a year player that is spent around 150 maybe $200. At this point I would suggest not to play this game because eventually you’ll get like me and get tired of the algorithm. And eventually delete it. Wasted money. Oh and when you build a deck they algorithm doesn’t know what to do with it’ll give you a computer generated player on the other side.

Fun game. LoR in my opinion is the best card game and a great monatation u can play this game and not spend a cent and have a lot of card and if u want to get a card u want u just buy the card no loot box to be found (those there should be a report button because there are cheater)

Amazing. I’ve had heaps of fun so far definitely worth playing

It’s good but.... The sounds isn’t working, I checked settings and all of the sounds were at max. I even checked iPhone settings to see what I’m the problem was, but it was just the game. Please fix it.

Such a great meta-game for PvE. As a PvE player, the Path of Champions mode in this game makes the best roguelite for fun levelling / upgrades and strategy and build-crafting.

Perfect card game. The perfect card game. Don’t go anywhere else (I have played them all)

Really fun but hard to spend money on. Fun mechanics, great visual design and inexpensive to pick up. Monetisation very weird, store is quite bare and hard to buy things you care about. When you see something you want usually very expensive so don’t bother anyway. Also no season pass so feels like there’s nothing to make progress towards

Excellent on iOS Devices. I recommend playing on Apple platform as riot did well with screen cropping on the iPhone X and above Devices.

Meta Slaves & Lack of Champions. Meta slaves are constantly just soaking up Mobalytics Decks and abusing elusive rushes for yet another patch, along side the obnoxious Nautilus spam I’ve seen non stop for 5+ days in masters.... zzzz please just add some variety and buff underused champions

BRILLIANT. People keep saying this game is unplayable, but that simply isn’t true, they must have iphone 6’s not ‘any mobile device’ like they say. Getting to challenger is quite the challenge and the different deck strategies make this game so much more difficult.

It keeps kicking me out. This sounds like a good game but it keeps kicking me out. I haven’t even gotten passed the first battle and I am starting to get impatient. If you could try to fix this “bug” then that would be nice, thanks.

Great Strategy!. A good competitor to the CCG market and definitely what you’ve been waiting for if hearthstone has been stagnant.

Incredible, please add trackpad and scrolling support. Hey riot, this game is amazing and here i am playing lor with ipad iphone and windows. I really wish that the ios can support trackpad so i dont have to pretend to use finger to scroll. It will be the best to have an option to play lor pc version/pc layout on ipad since it supports mouse trackpad.

Crash. I love this game but it seems to crash sometimes(maybe it’s me)

The game was fun when it is playable. The first time I downloaded the game on my iPad, everything ran smoothly! The graphics were amazing along side of the fantastic gameplay. But suddenly the game was taking a while to boot up so I tried deleting and re-installing it, nothing have changed in my settings and now suddenly when I start find a match It will just say ‘Loading’ forever and not letting me into the game while before that it would just take a few seconds.

No PVP. Riot are practically killing off pvp and the game will go pve for the most part. They believe pve is the main contributor but from all angles I don’t think they’re taking into account the players who are playing it for event pass grinding or building their card collection without getting pubstomped in pvp. Game will be essentially dead with 6-12 months as they still haven’t found a healthy monetization system to keep the game running either. Was fun for the most part folks but it’s joever.

Best online ccg. Alright this has to be the best online ccg going, this game is so generous with its cards that you can literally earn every single card just by playing the game which is incredibly, where compared to other games you have to fork other tons of money just for cards. And besides this, the gameplay is amazing I love the whole I do one thing and Pass actions keeps the game going and interaction 10:10

Fast and smooth but. Fast and smooth gameplay compared to how laggy and non functional hearthstone got, but the gameplay is really clunky. Taking turns to attack and another separate turn to play cards is just making things unnecessarily complicated and slow. In terms of gameplay and pace hearthstone had it right

Beautiful game. The game runs smoothly and it’s beautiful and addictive. If anyone finds that they cannot get past the garen training phase what they can do is complete the training phase on another device and then come back and it should run normally

Best CCG out there.. Strategic, addictive and highly F2P friendly. Switched from Hearthstone and have been immensely enjoying my time with LOR.

Gamer viet nam. hello riot gamer i am on behalf of the community of Vietnamese players in my country there are a lot of players who are not proficient in English and cannot play your games we know the game is very good but cannot play because no understand the language for me a person quite fluent in English is a little difficult to understand some places publishers can release the Vietnamese version for us thank you !

Unplayable. While the game itself is both a brilliant concept and well made, it is completely unplayable on ANY mobile device. This is due to the fact that it will consistently crash. The longest time I have had to play a match without it crashing and denying you a login, was a match and a half. It is generally even more frequent than this, and I found myself having to remove the game from my iPhone as I couldn’t play the game properly. Frequently, I would be 1 to 2 turns away from winning the match and it would crash for no apparent during the draw animation, or while playing a spell card. I feel that this could easily be fixed by adding a functional settings menu, which could have options similar to that in league of legends, from the same company, called “disable eye candy”. What this setting did in LoL was disable unnecessary animations, reducing lag and FPS drop. If riot announces an update that fixes this major issue, I will happily play the game again.

Best CCG out there by far. I have played MtG and Yugioh for most of my life but this easily beats both of them into the ground. No card rotations because all the cards are actually fair and balanced with and against one another, very few things or combos feel like complete BS to play against and a ridiculously unpredatory monetisation scheme. (Also, you get League’s lore, which is fantastic, without having to play League.) Great game.

The best card game on the market. Legends of runeterra is a very similar format to MTG on a beautiful online platform like hearthstone. Legends of Runeterra has one glaring advantage over hearthstone though and that is the fact that cards aren’t locked behind a paywall grinding for a deck is a hell of a lot easier and you are only required to spend money on cosmetics just like league. Good game by good devs

Issues. I like the game, but at the moment there isn’t any reward for playing anything other than expeditions, which makes the game grindy. Fix that and it would be perfect

Too long. The turn system takes an extra step per move making the matches dragged out far too long. They should have used hearthstone turn based system. Deleting.

Great game. PVP or PVE this is a great game, no need to spend money it's a F2P model and if you do it's only unlocking staff faster and getting cosmetics. Playing a match every couple of days will get you a weekly token to play in the Expedition(Draft) mode which will get you at least two attempts a week for free. Art work is great, the voice acting and audio is great. It's a step above hearthstone, it's much easier to get started than Magic, and it has more diversity and players than Gwent.

Slow players. Needs to be speed up. People keep wasting time

Great game that doesn’t require micro transactions. I have seen some reviews which claim that the game is prone to crashes but most are at least a year old and for me at least it hasn’t had any issues, another great part of this game is that you can succeed just as well as anyone else without paying for the game, a lot of people think this game might be a loss leader which would make a lot of sense.

Good Performance. Runs solid on my 12pro max great job but can you please add the 60fps option I think that would be great for phones who can handle it.

Lol without the lol. The game is fun and engaging and effects the the vast and interesting lore of League of legends also known as lol if you want to Picture it think of hearthstone but with character interactions

Sleep. Great game! But please fix sleep function on phone. Screen shouldn’t turn off when I don’t touch the game for a tiny bit.

The game is amazing, that review over there👉🏻 is stupid. It is amazing game, I play it myself on my phone.i say that the person that said it’s keep crashing, well that just means his or hers phone or any mobile device she says it crashes is broken, I say it is amazing, it has lots of characters. It’s perfectly fine

Pleasantly surprised. Combining all the great lore and strategy of LOL with turn based card game strategy. I would play hearthstone when I needed a break from league grinding - it seems I e found a better alternative. Thanks Rito.

What a game. This game has a good mix on your classic card games and for LOL PLAYERS, it has a lot of popular characters

Great game. Love the card concept of the as I’m a huge tcg player myself. Awesome game also addictive 😁

A MUST PLAY. For someone who started recently this game is very forgiving to new players. The game is very fun and addicting with many rewards and new content being released. Rito is definitely doing a good job and looking forward to their new games they will release.

No Audio. I love this game (coming from league of legends) only issue is my sound doesn’t seem to be working, on my iPhone 11. When i play on my laptop the sound works fine. Any suggestions what might be the issue?

Epic card game. Love league of legends and this expands on the world and I can play it on my phone

Great game but can’t play friends. Love this game. Had never played anything like it until my son introduced me to it. It’s a thinkers game, and the artistic work is amazing. The only issue stopping me from giving this 5 stars is the sporadic appearance of my linked friends, which means we are rarely able to play eachother.

One of the best digital card games. It has some of the great qualities of magic the gathering, including letting you respond to opponent spells and actions, but without annoying things like too much or too little land.

pretty good but minor flaws. Feels pretty similar to the computer LoR however frequently crashes and has a bit of loading issues

Crashes more than a plane in 20 years. Every time I login it’s just unplayable when I open the app again I play the tutorial YES STILL HAVEN'T PASSED THE TUTORIAL YET I get booted the same thing happens over and over again it tells me to update the game I wait the update finishes I play AGAIN then I get booted Fix please I’m really looking forward to getting passed the tutorial

Unbalanced. It often seems like most matches are one sided - one player will dominate the other and there isn’t really any opportunity to recover. The animations for some game mechanics take foooorever. Uninstalled.

Favourite Card Game. Best online CCG I’ve played that never feels like it scams the player into paying for cards. It’s fun and has gameplay that encourages interaction.

Terrible for new players. This game is honestly fun and such a good concept, but as a new player, I have to say that the match making is just non existent. We are constantly getting put against experienced players when we are brand new to the game. We have studied play styles and watched tutorials but honestly my friends and I cannot progress simply because we cannot test what hand works because we are constantly getting obliterated by players who are VERY familiar with the game. It’s such a shame.

Great game. No pay to win bs. Can easily unlock cards and decks by simply playing against the AI and completing challenges. You can tell quite an amount of effort went into the game in every detail. From the voice acting to the visually pleasing artworks. Cant think of anything bad on the game. Overall great game and time on it well enjoyed.

Literally the best. As someone who uses an iOS device a lot I have never been happier to be able to play some league related content from the comfort of my bed! The games are outstanding and I have never been so enthralled in a game. Keep up the fantastic work riot! IIm so proud of you❤️

Eh. Not a bad game to start off with, hits a point where every person you verse has paid to win. Don’t understand how you are to get enough Xp for unlocking as you get about 2 quests a day and 100 XP for a win. Again not a bad game when first download just can’t progress any further due to everyone having bought there cards.

Best Card game ever!!. This game is so much better than the inferior Hearthstone. You can try to compare both of them but LOR is always better!!!

Best Card Game Out There. Look, let’s no beat around the bush. Not only does this game look, sound and play beautifully but it also has the fairest free to play model out there. You can safely get this, play it a few times a week and collect everything you need to play competitively without spending a cent.

More Frames, Please. I love this game, but I would like to play without having to hold my finger down. I’ll bump my rating to 5 when you do that.

Best mobile game. So fun to play, for every style of gameplay, good competitive scene, adventures are challenging.

Impressed. I normally don’t like card games, but this one is so addictive and polished! I love the turn system with attack and blocking so engaging and doesn’t feel like playing tic tac to

Repeatedly crashes on iphone 6. Unplayable. Keeps crashing

Great game to pass the time. I like this kind of game if your into card type game and the fact that it’s on cell phone is a big bonus to me. Best for waiting for an appointment or your in a line up waiting just pop in even during the game you can just if all of sudden your turn and call you just surrender anytime hehehe. Make sure your not get to hook heheheh.

Actually kinda fun. I’m playing for fun haven’t played ranked or anything. I’m actually winning games and heard it’s not too pay to win so tried it out and enjoyed it till now

PLAY TO WIN. Only mobile game that is play to win and fun. Better than hearthstone and magic the gathering arena.

Literally can’t play pass 11pm. I recently got a new phone of iPhone 14Pro and got back into LoR due to business trip and unable to play league with friends on PC. Every night ever since I redownloaded this game back, I cannot connect to any game mode, no pvp, no pve, and not even path of champions. I have reinstalled the game and have the newest updated version for my iPhone , what the heck is going on…

Under appreciated game. Great game, and genuinely free to play. Extremely generous in game economy, you do not need to spend money to age resources to build whatever decks you care to play.

Never liked card games but. This game is absolutely a pleasure to play. Plus cards are free.

Almost perfect. I’ve had real great fun so far. My only problem is that every now and then the game may freeze and then crash on my iPhone XS. Are there any plans in the future that would allow us to reconnect to matches?

Such a good port. It’s almost rare that we find a good pc game do such a good mobile port without shrinking the game features, and i like it’s shared progress . Must give Credits to riot. Now fix league client

👌. Great game. Worried about the number of players though. Please Riot don’t drop this one.

Can’t get passed the first match. I was so excited to play the what seemed to be an amazing strategy game but for me it just doesn’t work 😭

A lot of screen burning. A lot of the times some sections of the screen will turn violet and in other cases grey. I have also been having issues concerning that menus overlap each other creating a graphic burning on the phone. Sent a message out to Riot but no reply.

Best turn based card game. Artistically gorgeous, gameplay is deep with strategy and knowledge of the match ups. Lots synergies to discover. Easy to acquire cards, very f2p. Regularly patched to rotate power levels and keep the game fresh. Easily the best digital card game to express skill.

Been playing for over 3 years and still love it!. Best CCG ever

Needs more optimization. I have a iPhone 6S and apparently the game runs on anything as far back as the iPhone 5. But every time I launch the game it loads up the “first battle” training mission and crashes before I can do anything, each time I relaunch the game it says there is an update and I re-install something only to have the same problem happen again. My girlfriend who has a regular iPhone 6 has the same issues and cannot play the game as well. Shame. Really seemed like this game was going to compete with hearthstone but not likely if it can’t run in the same hardware (not the same game but TFT also does not work on my phone when it says it does.) PS. Been a week now since I left the review. Been trying every day since launch a couple times a day and always crash and unravel to finish the first training battle with draven

Rng. Rng sucks on older phones

ONGOING CRASH FOR IPHONE 6. I was excited to play with my friends who are really into League of Legends, but since the game released I have not been able to get past the introduction without the game crashing. I have an iPhone 6 which should be compatible, but I have looked through the reviews and seen that many other iPhone 5, 6, 6S users are experiencing the exact same crash. I was waiting and hoping this would be fixed, but it has been a month and I haven’t been able to play the game, so for the moment, it’s a 1 star from me. I get it probably isn’t an easy fix, but hopefully someone could at least let me know what the problem is? Thank you, please look into this.

Hard to believe it’s free!. I’ve gotten many hours of enjoyment from this gem of a game without paying a cent! And the game doesn’t push you to buy things. Definitely not a pay to win system by any means. The story mode has very clever rouge like element that keep it fresh. The devs do a great job of rewarding you with resources to be able to craft the cards needed to hop right into pvp battles! If you’re looking for a great card game to soak up some of the boredom in your life then hit that install button!

F2p friendly. Best free to play tcg ever created. To buy a deck is also only 20 dollars not 200 that most tcg are with needling to dust everything just to get one card.

My fave game. I have played this for game for hundreds of hours and I feel Ike I’m just scratching the surface. And it just keeps getting better! Has spoiled me for any other games on mobile.

Crashes every time. On iPad the game crashes constantly also there is no Mac native port

Great Game! But Mac M1 Port Please!. Like Title

A well animated and underrated game. A strategic masterpiece; however Riot cutting the team down to 5 people really limits how far the game can stretch.

Rewarding. The game is very fun and you'll spent a lot of time in it if you're like me, and fortunately it's not a gacha-like game, the economy feels fair and it doesn't all rely on luck, unlike HS. The gameplay is deep and smooth. Love it

Devs lost control of the game. Used to be good, they added too much too quickly and now it’s plagued by balance issues the developers can’t keep up with patching.

포로 너프나 해라. 포로 너프하라고

Horrible experience. Horrible game can’t play pvp unless you beat campaign and on top of that campaign is super buggy

Looks promising but.... I can’t get past first battle. After a bit of the battle the game crashes EVRY TIME n it always makes me download somthin when I wanna play again. Pls fix

The best multiplayer card game. Ranked up to platinum and diamond as free to play.

App not launching. The app isn’t launching it opens to the screen before the ashe n then closes itself I’ve tried uninstalling n reinstalling it worked once then hasn’t worked since ?

More tactical than hs. The game take a bit of getting used to if you coming from hs. Every action u make will meet with the reaction from the opponent. Free cards come easy by just keep playing and there alot of ways to get creative with building your deck. Highly recommended, skins and boards are a bit expensive but doesnt effect gameplay. Keep it up riot!

Reasonable lootboxes. You can actually progress without paying, which is more than heartstone can say There are frequent visual glitches, but they never effect anything important. They only make things look strange.

Imbalances. Kai’ sai OP and unfun to play against. Bard OP. Quicksand still very OP

Amazing Art, Very Respectful of Players. The art on here is next level. Truly amazing. The devs are super respectful of the player as. You get so much for free!

Best CCG, takes the best of its competitors and improves it. Riot food the best spot between a « too RNG » Hearthstone and a « too complicated » MTG Arena. It can be played casual or hardcore, it has everything and more, and the devs keep on improving it. Also probably best PVE as well.

Great game and would download if your into card games. Real free to play game that is easy to understand but still very strategic. True free game just takes time to get the decks right and understand the moves

Banger of a game. Been playing for a year now, and I’ve got around 75% of all the cards, and there’s a lot. Great F2P model, pretty generous with cards, fun card interactions and an infinity of deck building possibilities. Highly recommand

Fix your freaking game. Like honestly it’s been 3 seasons and you can’t fix the bugs all u care about is new voice lines . Who’s freaking making the decisions in that office

Do not waste. I’m a free to play player that got pushed competitively into buying a pack and it was an absolute ripoff

170000 error. always 170000error and i havent log in even once. I've got NA server riot account and im right at Canada, there shouldn't be my internet issue.

Horrible Customer Service. I got the game when I was visiting Taiwan and now my games region is locked and cannot buy anything. I reached out to the support staff and they simply said I need to show consistent IP. I offered to show residency and actually played consistently for two weeks and they keep delaying the change. I cannot imagine why it’s so hard to get support TO SPEND MONEY!? I’m deleting this. Whatever.

Error. Looked forward to trying it on mobile but "an unexpected error occurred" and couldn't load the game. Tried reinstalling and looking on reddit. Seems like its a bug no fixes other than maybe trying a different account. But once this bug happens you can't log out you gotta uninstall and relog.

The best card game. All skills, no pay to win, no booster packs. The best!!

Too many empty rewards, not enough gameplay. I don’t understand the rewards I’m getting, I’ve played a couple games and barely understand, yet I’m flooded with “rewards”

its a bit annoying. i dont like this game beacause every time i start playing it automaticly closes by its self every time.

Fun game. Not too hard or grindy.

Much better than Hearthstone. The gameplay is actually dynamic. You don’t lose out to an RNG deck that can refill the opponents board multiple times in one round with top tier cards. Card combos have to be earned and their yield is proportional to the effort put in. You don’t get one card that recasts every spell previously cast. And then that card is out back into hand by the same spells it just casts forever dooming you to deal with a 10 card combo that effectively costs the opponent nothing. LoR is a fun game in its own right as well. There are multiple regions and decks can have 2 regions so there are a lot of combos and styles to discover and play around with even within the same 2 regions. Free to play is actually viable as you get a weekly chest that ranks up from the amount you play/how well you do during the week.

Best CCG on the market by a mile.. Runeterra has succeeded where many other CCGs have failed—fair monetization. By monetizing cosmetics rather than card packs, Riot has made a system that’s extremely generous to free-to-play players. It’s completely viable to get a full collection without spending; I can enjoy playing lots of different decks and experimenting with new ideaa, which is one of my favorite aspects of CCGs. In addition, the developers make frequent balance changes and even if your favorite deck gets nerfed, you’ll have enough resources to make many more decks for free. This has led to a diverse meta and overall a really awesome CCG experience, and I can’t wait to see where Riot takes the game next.

Absolutely Incredible Card Game. Let me just start by saying that I have been a consistent Hearthstone player since launch and periodic MTG player; this game, in my opinion, is much better than both. To start, it is truly free to play. You have the option to spend $ to buy some strong cards but if you dedicate a moderate amount of play time to the game there is literally no need to spend money. Awesome. The gameplay itself brings the best aspects of Hearthstone and MTG. It must be downloaded and played to be experienced. Last but not least the graphics, animations, and card artwork are the best I have ever seen! Years ahead of anything out there. Very well done Riot! This is an absolute gem!

My favorite CCG ruleset. I have been into CCGs since 1994, and LoR has the best core rules of the dozens I have played. So many outstanding innovations to make each game won/lost on decision making rather than draw. This really feels like they brought together the best bits from the best CCGs into one game. You get the interactivity of MtG, the pass management of GWENT, and the simplicity of HS in one clean set of rules. And with the spell mana system, they encourage decks to have both spells and creatures, while reducing the need to always play on curve. Spells enable you to make use of mana from the previous round, while creatures are generally more mana efficient. Freaking brilliant! The card designs are solid as well. Not MtG level, but good enough that with the vastly better core rules, LoR has been my favorite CCG since its release.

Amazing update to my favorite card battler. LoR was already by far my favorite of the many card battlers after that sweet Hearthstone (or MTG?) money/vibe. Aside from really fun gameplay that makes the champions from the games actually grow and have huge impact on the game, LoR’s PvE labs allow for a sense of RPG progression and lets human-averse players like myself have a great time without fighting toxic people, or even just wasting someone’s time when I get distracted and don’t notice it’s my turn, super common in card PvP and a total day ruiner for me. The new lab that highlights the Arcane characters seems incredibly cool with new character progression across campaigns and lots of new story and voice overs. Incredible work, can’t put it down

Probably the best card game also being the fastest. This game has everything you want. Variety of cards and tactics per color. You can have a hero or heroes in your deck which adds more to the theme. I feel that heroes aren’t that necessary but can be great addition to the theme/tactics. Best part is that it plays quick. This is because it will end your defense or offense turn if you have nothing to do automatically. So no pretending that you have something to play. Each defense and offense phase, you have option to play cards to support whether it be spell or hero card. Very fast paced but still can be slow enough for thoughtful decision each turn. Also, added bonus is that it has new arts and cards you’ve never seen in LOL. Most of them are so it does feel too familiar and that is a good thing. Brilliant. Just brilliant. They just need more purchase package available. I do hope that they release more of the same heroes but with different stats/skills to help with different tactics. This would be equivalent of new skin for same heroes.

Still the best card game!. I’ve played this game since it came out and after its anniversary and the latest expansion, I can still say this game is holding strong and growing. With developers interacting with the community and being free to play, LoR is absolutely one of the best card games and I’m excited to support what they have next. The game actively changes with updates which keep the game fresh and worth experimenting new deck ideas. The game is more than just gameplay, the art work and voice lines for each cards are gorgeous and immerses yourself into the lore and universe. To sum up, this game is satisfying in a nice package of free to play friendly, diverse gameplay, and art and voice lines. Thank you LoR team!

A Good Change up from the standard card game! But still similar enough to get down easy. Love the game just found out I have been playin since beta the game has come a long way since it came out it’s incredibly fair to new players there are many different types of cards, play styles and deck comps that are fun and equally good to each other although there is Humira decks, that remain a bit too strong that is the case for any card game. My only complaint is that they got rid of e expedition, which allowed you to enter a 10 round tournament typestyle match where are you continuously built your deck the further you progressed. It was really fun and allowed you to practice with other cards that you would not be able to miss you had more time in the game.

Rigged Game. Been playing since first season and I’ve even made it to whatever the rank is after “Platinum.” The purple one ... I’ve noticed that, per usual, Riot is extremely efficient at fine-tuning its games to create an infinitely competing cycle where you take “one step forward, one step back.” IN OTHER WORDS.. their algorithms are increasingly matching your decks against players with the appropriate counter-deck so that losing is almost assured about every other game so that you win one or two and then lose one or two. It won’t matter how well you make decisions to build a deck. Example: If I build a deck.. with mostly fast units, I.e., 1-2 cost cards.. my likelihood of going against a Fiora or Garen is much more likely. If I pick a slow deck, like one that relies on several turns, like a Naut deck, I will go against elusive units or fast units like Azirs minions. If you pick elusive.. then you go against an Ezreal and get picked off by spells. It’s how they keep you hooked. It’s really sad! I am never playing this game again and I regret ever spending a dollar on it. It’s a beautiful game but the matchmaking is obviously rigged to keep us playing. My advice is to not play to win or find a better game that’s actually fair .. but hey, it’s up to you buddy! You’ll see what I’m talking about. ;) Peace out folks!! It’s been real!

Very slow. You may enjoy this game, but it’s too much of a time waster for me. After it downloaded, I had to wait for an in-game update, then the tutorial came in 3-4 stages with pauses and loading screens in between, and by the time I finally got to do my own thing it had been an hour and a half. But that isn’t what I mean by slow. My first PvP match took 45 minutes, and not because there was a lot of strategizing or anything going on. You start with 1 max mana, and add 1 each round. Average card cost (depending on deck) is about 4, so it takes a while for much to happen. By the end I could only play all the cards in my hand cuz you only get 1 additional card per round, and I really felt that everything I had learned didn’t really matter. If you like card games, then this is probably worth a shot, but if you also have problems with a long in-game update then don’t waste your time waiting. There’s plenty others on the market

Fun, but be wary.. Fun game with an outstanding single player mode that’s starting to slip backwards. Originally free without progression they added a massive progression feature to the path of champions which is enjoyable. Unfortunately this progression can be painfully slow at times if you’re unlucky… unless, of course, you spend a few dollars on some shards to get the champion you wanted, or to level it up so it’s more powerful. And two stars is all but required to progress later on, and unlocking more adventures starts requiring specific champion regions that you may not have yet. Also, newer adventures lack the dialogue that made earlier ones charming.

What league is to OG DOTA, this is to Hearthstone. This is basically all the good things about hearthstone without a lot of the downsides. You have the heroes, the factions, monsters, spells etc. strangely even though hearthstone has 30 years of Warcraft to pull from, and Riot has just one MOBA game, this world feels better and more fleshed out in many ways. One of the big ways is the cards interact. You’ll play Miss Fortune and your opponent plays Quinn. Miss Fortune will say “cute bird, bullet proof” and Quinn will respond “cute face, talon proof?”. There are thousands of these little moments, and not just champions either. The little minions will interact with the champions of their faction, and even each other. The cards are interesting and imaginative, and the system is simple like Hearthstone not the lands based headache of Magic the Gathering. One nice thing they added was a 3 mana buffer for spells only you can take between turns. It lets you save mana for that ever important counter spell without ramping up to the crazy max mana units too quickly. Overall I’ve played it a lot more than I should since release. It’s just a really fun and rewarding experience.

Fixed MTG. I played mtg from the time I was 8 years old (onslaught) and that game is incredibly important historically but it is also incredibly flawed. LoR has the benefit of standing on the shoulders of a giant, it has myriad design decisions that “fix” problems with mtg’s core design. The two major examples of this in LoR are the addition of a mana banking system and the general structure of turns. I cannot praise the devs enough for these features in the game, they make the game far more interactive and interesting than the solitaire style mtg turn and they solve the “curve stone” problem that games like hearthstone have often suffered. If you are a fan of mtg or games like it, I highly highly recommend checking out this game. (oh and did I mention it’s quite possibly the most f2p friendly digital ccg around?)

The ads for it sold me but. Let’s be honest, who all still has a variant of the 6? Well, this game supports it- for like a few seconds until it crashes! I have crashed several times before I could even get the tutorial playing. Last straw was when I played my first card Garen (and my only card TBH) and it crashed after a smooth transition between loading screen, card drop, and Garen says a line, I’m hyped! Then crash as I play the card. Why in the HELL do you say it works on this IPhone IF IT ALL IT DOES IS CRASH!?!? What idiot cleared that and where does he/she live? I wanna key his/her car and put his/her phone under it and see if HIS/HER phone supports THAT!

great. excellent game for those with some background in tcgs. mechanics are all interesting and pretty unique. turn system is excellent, complicated in a fun way but not too convoluted. card economy is great, you could play f2p for a few months and max out your collection. also, important to note that you can’t buy gambling-esque cars packs, but instead if you spend money, you can get exactly the card you want, and all rewards are earned through playing the game. tutorials are pretty good for those with tcg experience but might be a little too complicated for those without. Effects are awesome also, and cosmetics are quality. lores pretty interesting for those who care. art is nice too. all around great.

Fun-If you’re a meta slave. So the game is fun, the frequency of getting card packs is refreshing, and the game overall looks really good. But if you want to really get into this game, you’ll need to spend countless hours or big bucks. The game is meta driven heavily as the devs don’t add new cards, only nerf existing cards. In normals, you have people testing their spin on an s tier deck. In ranked, you have copy/paste s tier decks. Everyone runs a stall/burn variation so trying to play anything but the meta is just trying to win before the enemy plays a full wipe spell and burns your hp away. It gets boring playing vs the same decks very fast and it’s very frustrating just watching the enemy play spells that kill your board, never attack, but you lost half your hp. You can’t play the op cards unless you incorporate half your deck to 1 of the 6 regions, you only can pick 2 regions in your deck and at that point, the only 2 other are burn. I’d wait on this game until they can balance the game by nerfing burn or by adding or buffing the 4 other weak regions.

The good standard for f2p card games. I never really write out reviews, but I felt compelled to say this is a game anyone interested in digital card games should give a try. It’s gorgeous, wonderfully stylized, a ton of fun to learn and super rewarding. I feel like I’m drowning in rewards, between region progression, the weekly vault, daily quests and PVP XP bonuses and the chance for your rewards to upgrade. And if you’re into League of Legends, Runeterra is overflowing with fan service and world building. I guess my only gripe would be how much you’ve gotta play to get rewards once you’re really far along with a region, but the stuff you get before then makes the journey one worth the fight. Check this game out!!! ❤️

Pvp and Hard PvE card game. I didn’t play runeterra until Leona got added, so even though I played the game when it first came out in hopes she was there I didn’t until just recently when I came back. There she was, the dawn had arrived. Besides my person bias for Leona as a LoL champ this game includes In-depth pve in path of champions, it’s slow at first leveling and unlocking champs, but no two runs will ever be the same and get quite crazy with rules that hinder or buff your champ. Had a combo that let me stun 4 enemy cards one turn and go from doing no dmg to the nexus to wiping the NPC because of choices I made going through a windy pick your route adventure nabbing buffs to help (or hurt) my deck. Crazy fun. The in game purchases feel more of a quick boost than imma get steam rolled by PvP as well. I can unlock anyone I want with all the PvE stuff I’ve done and have made several decks, but there is no rush to feel ready or HAVE to play PvP. There are skins and cool borders for the cards that really make it feel like eventually this could be a wild card game that won’t stop expanding. Keep them cosmetics coming and the champs as well! Great job riot.

Just another typical card game. I will say unlike other games of similar fashion this one does allow you to accumulate most cards without having to spend any money. But like most games of this nature certain cards have unrealistic disadvantages that make it non-competitive and basically no fun to play when you encounter them. Now more than likely the game developers will tell you, you just didn’t compensate for certain things but you only get to have so many cards in your deck and can’t plan for any and all things which is somewhat the point but then again just because a player stumbles across a magic formula does not mean they should be essentially unbeatable. It will entertain you for a while but ultimately become just another battle card game that the typical player will walk away from after a month or two

Rigged. It’s rigged worse than hearthstone has “truly random rng" Got matched with person who dwarfs my “MMR in expedition…. Mops floor with perfect overpowered or what looks like hacked or manipulated op deck…. Wait second round an hour later matched to the exact same guy…… is there actually any algorithm or math behind what you guys keep calling matchmaking rating…? Because brand new player level MMR versus the guy that’s on the fourth page of the leaderboard‘s and not only do I ever get matched with with himBut an hour later the exact same overpowered person is my second match in a rowMust remember brand new account player guy that is on the top 50 of the leaderboard not once but twice back to back within an hour. Do y’all think people just don’t notice things like that or do you really believe that everyone of your players was that big of a mouthbreather that no one might notice stuff like that look either be a total money hungry worthless company or don’t

Difficult but worth it. I downloaded this a few days ago, and as someone who’s pretty new to these deck based games, I wasn’t instantly hooked. But once it clicked, the game became really interesting and fun. The part I like about it is that most decks require some strategy you have to hold onto for the late game, but the way you plan it out is very different. The decks are also HUGE, with about 40 cards/spells in each one, so playing with one for a few rounds is kind of required. Overall, I will say the rounds are long and the game can be pretty challenging starting since learning all the spells and status effects is tricky. I love these facts, but if you don’t, I’d look for another game

Almost perfect. I’ve been playing this game for a whole year already, I love this game so much as a substitute for playing magic the gathering. The only thing I’m upset about this game is the PvP unranked. I don’t get why y’all feel the need to put bots in the PvP, first there slow whenever they do something they take 3-5 minutes to make a decision and second if I wanted to fight a bot I would have just gone to the AI vs player. Isn’t that what it’s made for. Don’t get me wrong I kinda understand why you feel the need to put them in PvP to make it easier on new player but as the name says player vs player not AI, and if you don’t want to take them out at least make them faster paced please and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Design and Balance Teams are Failing. Honestly the game is just stale and boring right now. Every deck is either rush or stall, every single deck is just metasheep players playing the same 5 decks- Jayce, Ryze, Portals, Katarina, Leona. You can’t rush the stall decks if they get two avalanche. You can’t compete with 90% of the champions in this game… Riot is and will always be comfortable letting certain things be overpowered and letting their player base feel like they are good at the game because they use them. Players who desire creative expression on their game get ignored, because there’s just not room to deviate from the “how do I get a young 20 something year old male to perform well and think that they’re skilled?” formula. I love games- card games, tabletop games, board games… why is it these other games don’t let me down as often as Runeterra or TFT does? This game is like being a kid and getting a chocolate bunny for Easter, and being disappointed to find out that it’s hollow inside.

Just gonna vent my adoration here. This is an amazing card game. The flavor of every card i we s incredibly immersive, especially the ones with animations. Not just champion level up animations, but everything. It’s so polished and feels amazing to play, even though losses can be defeating to your morale when you got bad draws or the enemy was super relentless with very scary cards. The game comes alive with animations like Heart of the Fluft or Ruination. Everyone who makes the visuals in his game needs some kind of award. But like, so does the balance team, music team, cosmetic team, coding team, and anyone else I didn’t list. It feels really good to just play and get cards and gems from your weekly vault and region rewards. I haven’t spent a cent on cards in this game. I have spent money on pets and board skins though, because those cosmetics are yet another thing the game does beautifully (plus it’s just nice to support a game this amazing) If you don’t think Gromp Jr. is cute, please stop reading because this rant is not for you. The way they create such a masterpiece of a card game I don’t understand, but I’m here for it and I love it. If you haven’t downloaded the game already, I hope you will now and I hope you will love it too.

Pay to win garbage. If you like just building decks and battling other characters then its pretty good, better than hearthstone even, but my problem lies with path of champions. Path of champs started out pretty fun and the concept is cool. They give you a champion with certain playstyle/cards and you battle through many enemies to win. The problem is when you get to about 2 stars, suddenly the champs arent good enough to win anything, as they become super unrealistic decks with buffs that you cant have in pvp. I payed $10 to finish a champ and win a battle i was stuck on, but after that she became obsolete and now it looks like i need to pay more money for a better champ just to win. You can unlock champs for free, but you have to win to do that, so if you need a better champ to win but cant get one without money, then its not fair and its p2w. Seriously scummy business riot

Had my doubts, but was turned. My son introduced this game to me, since I introduced Magic to him (decade ago, haha) so we’ve played card games before. He told me I would really like this game. He talked so highly of it eventually I downloaded it. The game play at first was a little confusing, but you can do the “challenges” which basically is a training for all the effects and key words in the game. You get a good idea of the flow and how things work. The graphics, art, and generous reward system won me over. I have yet to spend $$ because I wanted to really learn the game and the different regions and what works for me, but this is the kind of product I have no problem spending money on. Developers put a great product out, without constant ads, they deserve to get paid.

Objectively the best CCG right now. POSITIVES 1. 100% NOT pay to win. You want to make a deck but need specific cards for it? You can craft the card using shards or wild cards (in-game currency). No more will you be at the mercy of the RNG gods when opening “packs” in hoping to receive a certain card. If you do like pack openings (me included) there’s a weekly free packs given to you and the amount increases the more you’ve played that week. 2. Top tier card art, animations, voice acting, emotes, boards, UI, visual clarity, balance changes, and aesthetics. There’s also a “math checker” called the “eye” which shows the results of an action BEFORE you submit an action. 3. A round consists of 2 players playing their cards. It’s never a one round - 1 person show. I like this because most of the time you won’t feel helpless as your opponent declares lethal on you. You have the option to retaliate and survive. MINOR NEGATIVES 1. Some cards have alternate art (skins) and are too expensive for what they offer. However, these are cosmetics and aren’t necessary for gameplay. 2. There are card rarities ranging from common, rare, epic, and champion. Sometimes when you pull an epic card, you feel underwhelm because it seems like a meme card.

Amazing. This game is by far the best TCG on mobile and other platforms right now. I’d go as far to say that LoR surpasses Heartstone by a long shot. There are so many different possible combinations of cards that make no two battling decks alike. What I love most about this game is the fact that it is extremely FTP. No feel bads when you get creamed by a PTW player because it simply does not happen. There are so many ways to get the best cards(champions) and others that you will not have to spend a penny on this game. This is how you make an awesome game. Take note EA and Epic Games because you have some stiff competition with this. Keep it up Riot; you have a lot of respect for how you’re developing LoR for the fun and not for the money. Thank you.

Extremely harsh against new players. I only rated 5 Stars so people can see this review, otherwise this game is worthy of a 0.5-1 Star. As soon as I(new to the game) started playing against real people and not against the AI, i kept getting destroyed, -16Health to 17-20Health. new players are still trying to understand what everything in the game is about, but the game just sets them up against well experienced players. if you’re looking for a long term play, then download the game, and enjoy wasting your time trying to get good; other than that, you won’t even be able to win a single time, unless your opponents are really stupid. this game is not noob-friendly, meaning it will not aid you in traversing your skills, rather completely bash you and give you losses.

Great Game but Needs Singleton Battles as an Option All the Time. Overall, this is a great game! I’ve been playing for several months now and enjoy it thoroughly. Honestly, there’s only one thing I would change. Please create a way to have singleton deck battles any time, not just in Gauntlets every so often. The game gets quite boring when you keep on facing people who have the same 13 cards in their decks because they can put 3 of the same card in it. Playing like that takes almost all of the strategy out, which is the best part of the game. And the only way to compete is by stooping to those peoples’ level and creating a deck with Fiora and 5000 ways to make her indestructible. Sorry. Rant over haha! Again, I would love for there to be a singleton deck battle option all of the time.

Omg. I love league of legends so I may actually be a bit biased on this but I can tell you now if you like card games going into head to head battles and completely shredding your opponent with amazingly gorgeous graphics smooth gameplay and easy to learn tactics then this is the game for you! I can’t wait to see what else comes of this. The gameplay itself is as enticing as its graphics and the overall beauty is something worth trying but this isn’t just like every other card games. Yes it has its similarities I mean what card game doesn’t but they put a new twist on this gameplay that balances that first hit and overpower ability you can so easily get in games like hearthstone. All in all even if you aren’t into games like this I do say to give it a chance because this game gives others a run for it money!

Absolutely amazing.. Having never been a fan of LoL, I was not too interested when I saw this game on the app store; However, I decided to give it a try to scratch the TCG itch and I do not regret it one bit. Runeterra takes aspects from the greats like MTG and Hearthstone but transforms it into its own unique game that, in my opinion, far surpasses either. The artwork is beautiful, the UI is intiutive and clean, gameplay is addicting and deep, and man oh man is this the most generous free to play game on the market period. Without spending a dime, one could easily create multiple tier 1 decks with just a litte bit of playtime. I truly believe this is the new gold standard in card games, and I cannot wait for what Riot does next to improve even more upon this experience.

Love it -Veteran TCG player. Solid card game with enough uniqueness to make it related to MTG, Hearthstone and FoW; without being a clone. The balance team is on point. Archetypes that fall due to power creep get revamped. You can realistically grind all the cards, no event cards are locked behind paywalls, only cosmetics. The premium event cards can be crafted and unlike other games, crafting isn’t a chore. It took me 3 weeks to own a min of x1 of every card during the second set. Admittedly, this was while draft was still a thing (RIP). There’s a decent solo player campaign as well. Only big downside is when starting, it’s unclear how to play unless you go to “challenges”. The game is *truly* free so I buy all the event passes. For transparency: my highest climb is ranked *barely* Platinum and 3 prime glories. Thank you.

Don’t get it. So the “RNG” on this game is apparently not so random and has to be based on wether or not you spend money. The “real” people I have played these last 5 matches all spent real money clearly since they had the paid emojis and boards. I played with a S rated deck that is named Ezreal TF and lost every one. I get that it’s “possible”, but at the same time I never get the cards that are in my deck that could help yet my “real” opponent has every card that could possibly help them win every game. Not to mention, I have gotten down below 20 cards in all 5 games and haven’t even see TF. If you happen to get better “RNG” card odds by spending real money just let me know and I’ll do it, I just want it to be fair for everyone. If it wasn’t so obvious I would give this game a higher rating.

A humble opinion. Easily one of the best digital card games available on the App Store. Very thought out and put together it’s easy to get lost in the deep but simple to understand mechanics. As a busy dad with a full time job I still find time to easily complete weekly/daily challenges and unlock tons of cards without spending any money. I love MTG and this game easily scratches that itch, of a fun card game with great lore and replay ability. All while still being its own thing. All of this, combined with superb voice acting, card interactions and plenty of pvp and PVE options to keep anyone interested this is an easy 5 stars.

Very free to play friendly. I come from a background of card games like magic and hearthstone, though I must admit that this is by far my favorite one. The card designs are amazing and the voice lines that characters can have with each other is a nice touch. Though my favorite part about this game is how fast you can make a good deck. With a wildcard system like magic, it allows you to choose what cards you want. You can also choose what faction you want to level up so that way you can those specific cards from your chests. And the game is very generous with the amount of cards and resources you get. All in all I would highly recommend this game to anyone has has played another card game, as well as those who want to try one for the first time.

Poorly balanced. I think the game offers appropriately fun mechanics. The problem is they have no semblance of balance. The fact Fiora (I win if I kill enemies) is allowed in the game and region with a card that says “ I can take no damage or die” is just stupid. It’s like no one play tested it. Also, this is actually allowed in their draft format expeditions. With limited cards and options for removal it makes it impossible to win against this deck. To make this combo worse is there is no way to counteract the spell to prevent this from happening either. Would be nice if developer didn’t seem to play favorites with specific factions and actually play tested the game. The reason this is awful is there is no interaction allowed by opponent. There is no game play with this strategy. It’s just oops I beat you. Not yet but I will you should just quit now and delete application. Has lots of promise for a mobile card game and would like to see changes made to make it more enjoyable by removing these “I win, let’s play solitaire kind of strategies”. I do like that money is mostly used for visual upgrades and not pay to win. That is unless you just buy all the cards needed for your Fiora solo deck. So two stars for poor play testing. With updates could increase my rating.

Aggro the Card Game. Been playing since open beta and boy how the devs have ruined this game. Been giving it a long long leash for two years cuz the game started with such a good promise and premise but has really ruined it since. First off, I don’t know why they print cards greater than 8 mana because games never last that long unless it’s a Darkness mirror. Any control tool printed is a sick overcosted and underpowered joke. And despite being a game predicated on initiative switching, most games boil down to go fish as optimal plays are normally going wide or tall with stats and swinging hard. Either you can respond to that or you can’t because control isn’t there to punish either strategy. And finally if you enjoy deck building don’t bother. With the exception of a few decks, most champs and archetypes get printed with only a handful of cards to support them and trying to do something creative is an undertaking in how patient you can be in losing since you’re choosing to weaken your deck from the get go. So play this game if pre-printed aggro decks is your thing. Also, they have a rogue like mode they spend more energy on and it doesn’t even have a tenth of the gameplay of Slay the Spire or the like. As the game mode doesn’t revolve around deck building and combos but how much broken power ups you can stack on 2 to 3 cards preferably your starting champ.

Absolutely the best card game out hands down.... I will write a more expanded review when I can get some time, however this game is so good that I just had to immediately provide it with a short review. The visuals in this game are absolutely stunning and incomparable. The level up sequence animations are must see, I even enjoy seeing them for characters I could care less about... they are that impressive. The game doesn’t go by other p2w predatory models, anything purchasable is purely cosmetic. While there are decks you can purchase sometimes readily available, every card can be purchased with in game currency earned thru playing. No, seriously... you want Renekton, you can get him the same day you start playing... any of your favorite characters for that matter, there is no paywall. So enjoy! Trust me and download this game you won’t regret it.

Don’t expect an easy walk. Th game is very well maid and fun with great story line. It takes a lot of grinding to get past any level 2 boss. I leveled Vi to 20 and still couldn’t get passed Gang Plank. But ironically, Ms. Fortune passed at level 6. Figuring out what player should engage in which level is grueling and unforgiving. Lack of character guidance as to where and when they should be played or stopped stunts the enjoyment, at least for me during the Vi leveling. Sheer bitter determination kept me playing as long as I did. However, the mechanics, art and story are superior especially for a free to play gam with very little pressure t spend money. Great thank you for that.

Worth playing especially for LoL fans. I used to play a lot of Magic the Gathering a few years ago but having 10k cards take up space and time didn’t quite work for me being married with children now. But then I ran into this by accident. I used to play League Of Legends for hours daily #DiamondLife and fancied myself a lore buff. This game has taken 2 of my old favorite pastimes and delivered them to me in a virtual world I can invest little time into and still have an enjoyable experience. No cards lying around and a quest system to make getting fair cards relatively easy if you play for a few minute a day. Strong focus on keyword synergy makes it a fun and exciting challenge for card players of any skill level!

Move Close deck button OFF THE DECK LIST. 3 star for UI complaints and errors. A UI placement error that hasn’t been fixed for months, been a problem for awhile now - Clicking on the Close button to exit deck viewing is directly on top of the deck list itself, making it ridiculously difficult to exit from deck viewing because you just end up clicking cards directly underneath UI instead of the button on top itself. No definitive way to cancel cards before seeing the options (ie choosing to buff a card in hand with fast spell, not able to cancel out this card and instead choose another play, this IS possible on desktop because ESC button). Cancel X button in corner would be nice. Bottom side of board feels empty because hand is crammed all to the right side, right most cards virtually not visible if you have 4+ in hand. Lots of space made to see board and the giant blue Action button, but rest of movement is stuffed in bottom right corner. Runs beautifully otherwise, love seeing the movement of the login screen when moving iPad around! Super cool effect and nice to see card art up close that makes playing on iPad the more worthwhile. Art feels visibly more pixelated and lower res compared to desktop, but compression is understandable.

Based. Amazing Digital Card Game tied to an amazing universe. Not only do the aesthetics look the best out of any card game, it is really easy to pick up and learn with a tutorial called “Challenges”. Not only does it cater to PvP players that want to build meta decks or enjoy their own homebrew, but it has a free PvE game mode called Path of Champions for total newbies or someone that just wants a casual gaming experience that is very fun and has a rouge-like aspect to the deck you choose. Very free to play too. So much is free with the beautiful cosmetics as well as so much free gameplay and consistent updates to want to spend all your money to support this game. Devs, please add a dragon themed arena. I will personally pay whatever I can to have one in the game ;-;

Best card game, period.. In addition to being the best card game, it is definitely the best F2P reward system I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. I’ve been an avid mobile gaming enthusiast for over a decade, and this is the model I love in a free game. You get a wild amount of cards just by playing AI and the rewards are packs, champions, or craft mats every single time. The actual mechanics are brilliant and I’m stoked to see a card game with emphasis on chaining cards as much as this does. It’s really so well done. The rotating attack rounds make the gameplay possibilities infinite. All around, amazing experience. Excellent F2P model, fun gameplay, easy reward progression, intuitive deck builder, great interface, all of it. I’ll definitely be investing into this given the generosity Riot has shown!

Learning from competition. I’ve been a card game player for decades and after the last few years of card games moving to digital and mobile platforms, it’s clear Riot has paid attention where it matters. Taking all the best ideas and cutting what doesn’t work, they’ve managed to build one of the most elegant card games I’ve ever had the joy of playing. It was clearly designed from the ground up around the strengths of the digital platform and focuses on truly interactive gameplay, leading to some of the best experiences with card games I’ve had to date. Moreover, their reward system easily allows for new players to build the decks they want with only a little play time and no monetary investment. If cards have ever been your thing, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Matchmaking is sus…. This is an overall addictingly fun game, however the only thing that’s keeping this from being a 5-star for me is sadly…the matchmaking mechanics. I wish you were allowed to find players and THEN choose your decks instead of pre-sales ting your decks and then searching for someone to play against. Idk if it’s me, but for some reason when I get smacked in a match and pick another deck for the anticipation of facing someone that counters my previous deck I MAGICALLY get paired with players that have a direct counter to the OTHER DECK I picked! It’s like the matchmaking algorithm purposely selects opponents based on the decks you and your opponent chose. That being said, I wish ranked and casual pvp were like friendly pvp battles where you can pick and ban decks before you guys face-off. Anyways, that’s my little rant…hope someone higher up reads this!

Small turn within a turn kills vibes. Long story short, as a casual player who’s trying to have fun in a card game. The satisfaction of winning does not offset the frustration of losing. Winning feels like you got a better hand and you have all the answers to your opponents’ every action, you could also call that mulligan skill, but mulligan only goes for a few round the rest is draws. Which sometimes feels good but you realize it is lucky you have all the answers. On the receiving end of your opponent having all the answers in the world render you powerless, every spell, skill, unit you play would be met by a long wait time of your foe ticking the timer on you. Which felt extremely awful and awkward. The tedious action by action sounds good on paper to increase interactions between players, but when you lose/win in a very one sided match (which happens to me, a casual player most of the time) felt as if you are taking an multiple choice exam, and you are not the grader. Had high hopes of this game in replacing hearthstone. Where I play card games mostly on mobile to kill time. With 50% of the games dragging out for a long time due to the action by action nature. I also have to surrender a lot of my games because real life called. Maybe I will keep playing this game until a good replacement came out, a one that’s more arcade friendly and does not cost a kidney like hearthstone.

Best mobile game period.. I feel like I have played every ccg on the App Store. Legend 20+ seasons in Hearthstone. This is quite simply the best digital ccg I have ever played, mobile or otherwise. Gameplay mechanics are familiar, while still innovative. Production quality is second to none. It’s truly a pleasure to fire this game up. The free to play is incredibly generous in my opinion. If you are willing to play enough to always clear your daily quests, and to max out your “experience chest” for the week, you can certainly play this game completely free. (As a side note I don’t even play League of Legends, the mainstay of Riot’s games and I still am hooked.) If you enjoy ccgs at all do yourself a favor and download this game.

Hearthstone without the pay to win. While you can still buy micro transactions to get ahead legends of the terrain uses expeditions, daily quest, and factions specific reward tracks and wild cards as a way for free to players to obtain new cards. Unlike hearthstone where you save up 3 days worth of gold at your shot of arena just to lose in the first game. One expedition token will give you two trail runs just in case Rng wasn’t in your favor. I find this card game to be more complex and intuitive then hearthstone and as a result games can go on much longer. If you like card games in general I say give legends of runeterra a shot because riot is working hard to make a card game that better then hearthstone. They Aren’t their yet but I believe riot actually cares about the direction of their game unlike blizzard

It’s a Riot Game - They’ll take care of it.. I originally had this game on PC and played it every now and then. At the time there wasn’t a ton of variety, rewards, and etc. But I’m so impressed how far this game has come now. Having this on a mobile app, I play it every night now - especially with the daily log in rewards. They’ve created cool ways to be able to earn cards, it’s not pay-to-win at all. You can be super creative in this and it’s addicting. This game is a mix between HearthStone and Magic the Gathering - I love it. My ONLY complaint was with the app crashing when I first downloaded it. It was relentless and I literally couldn’t finish a game. But all I had to do personally was restart my phone after an update. Fixed it!
