As a game it does it’s purpose well. So as a game to waste time and to mess around this game is pretty fun. Nothing super complicated and the game itself is good enough to keep you busy when you need it. Only thing is of course it has ads and while ads are alright they do tend to over do the amount of ads forced on you, somewhat. Otherwise ain’t half bad.

One of my favorite mobile games since the Infinity Blade series.. I don’t play a lot of mobile games. The Infinity Blade series is as good as mobile games get, IMO. But this is really good to pick up and play when you have a few minutes. Very rhythm-game like, lots of fun. Leveling up, buying equipment, animal companions, creepy-yet-charming medieval art? Sign me UP.

Needs fine tuning. Here’s the great stuff- it’s a witty, original idea for a game, and the art is gorgeous. 5 stars for all that stuff. Combat uses a rhythm mechanic- you time your attacks to a sword moving around a circular track sitting over the battlefield; when the sword touches a target, you tap the screen to strike. In my experience, this causes two problems. 1. The attack track demands all your attention. Because it’s placed above the action, though, I couldn’t really look at both at the same time- my eyes were glued to the track. All that gorgeous art? I wasn’t able to enjoy it once I started playing the game. 2. The attack rhythm *seemed* to be linked to the medieval musical score- but if it was, the pairing was pretty imprecise. If I’d been able to trust the rhythm of the music, I could have let my eyes wander back to the action, but that wasn’t the case.

One of the Best Free Mobile Games. This game is very creative, fun to play, and has a user-friendly free to play model. Anyone who loves medieval history and art will adore this game, not to mention that the game is an addictive challenge that feels refreshing after every fight. I can not recommend this game enough!

Addictive game. I have never been addicted to games like this , but this one has something that makes me want to play and play and play . Almost got late to school 3 times this week , and I only have played this app for like 3 days xdd . currently on level 41. Recommended

Magnificently Bloody Silly, This Is. Ya ever wonder what those funny drawings in the margins of ancient Medieval books do when no one’s looking? Neither have I. You ever wonder what European scholars must have thought about descriptions of exotic animals they’ve never seen? Well here they are and you get to fight them! Hack and slash fancy silly half-baked Medieval beasts and collect silly stuff. No pay to win crap. Just plain old fashioned fun like King Richard or Sir Gallahad must have had back in the good olde days,

Found a glitch. Never wrote a review so far for any app. I really like this game and will give you more stars once you fix this glitch. When I use the watch and banner on level 65 boss fight, the game acts as if I miss tap right before I hit the target. Tried it several times without tapping and counts as a missed tap right before target. Please fix and maybe give me back the 10 watches banners and oil for weapon I used to try to beat this level? Thank you and please respond.

Awesome game. Very fun game, powered through it in 2 days had a blast! I hope they add more content. There’s a bug where you the levels stop awarding coins for accurate hits after you reach a certain number of coins, which makes one of the achievements impossible, other than that download this game it’s great.

Excellent game but loses a star for.... ...something a lot of games fail to implement, Game Center sync. Is this a difficult feature to add? Why do so many games not implement this? I love to be able to play games on my iPad and iPhone but I don’t want to play through it twice. Update the game with this and I’ll revisit the rating.

Everything is great but I’m confused.... I’m confused about why sometimes I get a second chance if I miss a target and sometimes I don’t. If i miss the first the target the first time, that’s it. I would just like to know why it varies. But other than that it’s a great game and provides endless entertainment.

Very good game, small bug?. Overall: Very good and recommended. Details: Many hours of challenging game play with an interesting theme, useful unlocks/rewards for achievements and daily bonuses. Forced ads are reasonable, optional ones allow bonuses. Clear progress indicator for level mode is nice. Issues/comments: 1- Dear Developer, sometimes coins can’t be collected in Great Journey, even when using the companions with coin collection bonus, which seems like a bug. 2- You can get “stuck” because game can’t be won just by grinding, only by beating levels; this is good and frustrating, and might lead to feeling of “no way I can finish this game!” feeling.

Enjoyable game but.... I really enjoyed this game, it’s quirky but addictive. I also enjoy the manuscript art style so it was a perfect blend. However the game isn’t always clear about what you are supposed to do especially with Brave Quests. Like one today where I was supposed to “break any targets” x times in the Royal Tournament but I wasn’t making any progress despite hitting various target types.

Shouldn’t the numbers be Roman numerals?. Seriously, though—I love the idea of a game with medieval-based art (still waiting for a Beowulf game along these lines...). I’d sort of hoped this would be more of a side scroller where you traveled through marginalia and explored, and instead it seems mainly to be about how good your phone-tapping reflexes are. But I love it all the same. More medieval games, please! The art is so rich and weird.

The book of the …... This is a short critique of the Application’s Store, App. called “Marginal Hero”. I searched the applications store for Applications that might be associated to things “ Medieval” and the “Marginal Hero’s game;app.” Was a recommendation ! My review is: “ This is just the game I have always wanted” accept for one major detail, the entire app. Is one where , to proceed, you must kill creatures. Sure there are a plethora of the most fantastic beasts, and I want to see all the illustrations! But will I , be tempted enough to continue? So far I have stopped at the snails, since, I killed them all ,and next are the fantastic birds, which I am not so certain I wish to do battle. Maybe I will? Since, there is no other way to see the various illustrations or to earn points. If only this medieval game was one where the participants, gave Gifts, Traveled, Converted Beasts or Played Music, rather than one where the player must beat them with a club? But unfortunately it’s a knights fight against his own menagerie!

I smiled & laughed for 40min!. This game is so simple and yet so much fun! It is really very engaging and becomes more challenging as one plays. It’s visually pleasing and the music is awesome. I haven’t found any bugs and they’ve these handy dandy spells you can use but I suggest you don’t get too dependent on them! It’s actually more fun if you try and nail it on it’s own terms. I would recommend highly recommend this game! It’s challenging but so much fun! (Watch out for the rabbit!😱)

Excellent Absurd Game. The art style is fantastic and bizarre and the game is incredibly simple yet still interesting and never frustrating. The ads are present but at such a low rate that it really doesn’t detract from the experience. This is the first mobile game where I have considered buying ad free, not because the ads are annoying, but because I actually just want to support the project and get back to the gameplay.

Finally a good, simple game!. I NEVER write reviews for games, but after playing this game I want to commend the developers on a job well done! Free games nowadays are pay to win, poorly made, and you get absolutely bombarded with ads to the point where games are almost unplayable. Not with this game, though. The simple tap on the target play style is made fun and interesting through the art, music, upgrades, etc. The best part is you hardly ever get ads. This game is a step in the right direction and goes against the movement of minimalist, ad-infested stupid games. WELL DONE!!!

Great game. I love the game, the art is excellent, superbly done. I just wish there was a little more content. Perhaps different armors to increase defense. More things to collect to add to the imagination of the game. A boss like King Arthur, interesting weapons of legend like Excalibur, or even fantastical bosses like a dragon. So much that can be added here. I hope the developer continues to support. I haven’t gotten to the end game but I’m hoping for a new game plus type mechanic as well.

Simple, fun, beautiful art. On top of that the ads system is very friendly. A lot of the ads you can choose to watch to gain extra rewards. The ads that they occasionally throw to you are always skippable. I think they achieved a great ad balance for a free game

Amazing game but I’m not sure if it’s still being updated. I just came across this game the other day and was intrigued. Very interesting game and one of the most fun and best game I’ve played in a long time (even though it has some elements that should have been left out and needs to be removed) It seems that it hasn’t been updated in quite a long time though. There are a few bugs that I noticed that when looking online seem to be when the developers stopped updating. Specifically here are a few: sometimes the coin gaining system and the accurate hits don’t register even though i know I hit dead center The leader board is frozen and buggy The daily rewards and “brave quests” (daily challenges) do not refresh or update or move forward in time (my next daily reward is stuck at 19h 27m and hasn’t moved in 3 days) If they come back to update I hope they fix those questionable elements and update the bugs of some of these core features.

Good, but some issues. I got this game when it was first released. I really enjoyed playing it the first night and played it throughout the next school day. I soon reached a problem, though. I ended up getting to a really hard boss (unreasonably hard) and I quickly ran out of power ups. I think it would be a good idea to make it so you are able to go back to the last boss or heroic challenge and still be able to say, earn one or 2 power ups again. It’s really tedious to have to grind for 60 coins just to buy one power up and lose it after one mistake on a boss. The boss I am talking about is at level 35, by the way. I think this game has a really nice art style and concept but I don’t like getting this frustrated over a game. It is boring to have to do the same boss over and over again.

Most addicting game on phone. I have played this game for two days and I find myself trying to play it all the time and the art style elevates the game a whole lot more it just makes the experience a whole lot more mesmerizing I would definitely recommend this game as a perfect pass time.

A good way to describe the game. I told you how I dislike the game, this is something different, now I’m on level 50 and i am RAGE on this level, everything else is just a little drop of hardcore, but now you guys spilled the hardcore and until level 60 you get out of this, you start it very simple, hit targets! But then level 3 the targets turn invisible and you don’t get that back until you reach the rabbits, Could you just fix the difficulty level here? Thank you. ~Chocolate banana kid

Charming concept, unfortunately gets old real quick. The artwork and level progression are very engaging. But all this game is about is tapping…over and over again, so much tapping. Roguelike, one missed tap in a series of 20 or more will reset your level. A good game if what you want to do is tap. It would’ve been great to see different kinds of challenges or mechanics to accompany the fun art concept.

Fun Game!. I really like the way this app is designed and also it is so entertaining. But there are some little issues that I’d like to share with the developer. I’ve been playing Marginalia Hero on iPhone 13 Pro Max and the problem is that the top of the game cannot be seen because of Face ID part of my iPhone. This may be solved by an update. After all, thanks for this nice app!

Pretty good. I’m glad that the developer was responsive in fixing UI issues on the X. I like the game it’s pretty fun. I like history themed games but the game lacks depth. That’s not a big issue though because it’s a light game to play in short periods of downtime. I’m interested to see what they add to it. I just noticed that there is a no ads option which is great! To dev. Please fix level 40 it’s impossible to pass.

Fun game that evolves over time but has a glitch on level 40. So I was having fun with the game. Unique weapons, sidekicks, and evolving levels kept me interested until level 40. There seems to be a glitch that forces you to attack before you reach the target? If this is part of the game design it is a poor development choice because I have no idea how to beat it. It also happens to be an extremely long level as your sword moves so slowly.

Just my sense of humor. Great game, love the art and humor. Intro says it all. One point of improvement, the coin value is mostly blocked by the iPhone 11 Pro Max notch and play 5 ads for a reward is not working. Otherwise, I have spent the past 2 hours really enjoying this game.

Saddened by this missed opportunity.... I saw that the game had IAP and that was a red flag for me, but I had hope because I really very badly wanted a fun game based on the wonderful art drawn in the margins of medieval texts, unfortunately this is just a tap timing game with hooks designed to quickly push you to spending money on virtual coins mainly so that you can just see the new crazy creatures your paper doll avatar will stiffly fight next in a increasingly boring parade. A genuine disappointment for me as it feels like a real missed opportunity to do something better with a neat concept.

Seems like a 5/5 but then gets reaaally pay 2 win. Honestly I really enjoyed the beginning of this game, but even as a action game player the kind of reaction this game requires is frustrating, so I can see this game being incredibly frustrating for someone who hasn’t played any games with an emphasis on reaction. This, however, would jot lower my score from 5/5. What DOES lower my score is that the game is built around not being able to progress at a reasonable pace once you get to later levels. Many players would need the power ups to progress at past levels 50-60, and those are fairly expensive to buy, so you’re punished heavily for your reaction speed. This was not a huge problem for me, however what was a problem is that the game is entirely built around ads. You will be able to progress without it but not at a reasonable pace at all. If you want to speed it up you have to use ads after every level to double your reward, and then you’re hit with an automatic ad every 3-4 level attempts as well. All in all I give it a 3/5. Could have easily been 5/5 but honestly between the game being built to frustrate and the ad freemium gameplay, I have to drop it to a 3/5.

Very clever. Between the art work, the music, and the overall concept, a really original take on the tap/reflex genre. Also the ads are extremely well integrated, if you want a bigger reward, watch the ad- much less intrusive than most games and gives you the incentive to watch, rather than forcing you to just to replay. Well done

I love this game. This is one of the only reviews Ive ever written, this game is wonderful. There are (unlike other games) no ads being shoved down your throat every two seconds. I love the design and style of the game, and its just so simple yet so fun. Thank you guys, you've saved me from boredom.

Very fun game with hilarious aspects. This game just makes me smile and grin because it’s so funny and awkward, yet so simple and addicting. It’s not P2W and I love it, it’s all about skill and timing, you soon get used to it, sometimes it’ll feel like it’s cheated you but when you finally beat that next level you feel so accomplished with yourself because you know it was hard. I love this gameplay and the funny art style, I just hope that I can make my character in armor, that’s the only thing I want, armor! Like, just for looks, wearing chainmail because it’s cool!

Woooh!. Nothing fancy but a time-killer based on medieval stuff. If you have 5-10 minutes to kill and also happened to be a man of culture and can't withstand the uncivilized ways of killing times through pathetic peasants games like solitaire/bejewelz/idle rpg and need something to scratch your medieval vibe itch, download this game! Can't see myself really investing times in this but I do need a mild dose of medieval vibe once in a while!

I love it!. I’ve never written an AppStore review before, but just had to for this game. This app is hilarious, weird, and a great way to pass the time for a moment. Love the detail and care that went into the graphics and design—awesome job!

Fun but repetitive and occasionally buggy. The art style is a main selling point of this game, especially for medieval literature nerds. Gameplay is fun, but repetitive. The challenge will come from doing harder variations of the same task, which is to press the screen to hit stationary, moving and/or disappearing targets using a sword that swings round in a circle. Buy weapons, shields and companion animals using the in-game currency (obtained from accurate hits and some wins) to progress. The game has a moderate to high amount of ads and can be frustrating when buggy. Coins, the in-game currency, can be hard to come by and right now, there seem to be bugs that prevent the companion that spawns coins while you play from working properly at all times. I’ve taken off a star for the bugs, random ads and repetitiveness of the gameplay, in that order.

Simple. Charming. Fun.. Pre-ordered it as soon as I saw it listed. What really drew me in was the 12th century Medieval art style. The gameplay is fun too, but distracts a bit from the visuals. Having a ring showing the enemies hit points in the center with a sword representing your attacks moving throughout the ring. The goal is to successfully hit the targets plotted on the ring. Certain levels become quite the challenge, like level 40. You’ll get the hang of things really quickly if you understand how each mechanic works. Here are some suggestions, different sound effects for different types of weapons and their materials. Centering the player character and the enemy on either side of the ring instead of below it, so we are able to look at the characters interacting better. Better timed animations. Currently, rapid succession attacks don’t work very well visually. The second attack doesn’t show up if you tap quickly to match the targets movement. All in all, very fun and entertaining little game. Thanks a bunch for making it. I’ve always dreamed of a game making use of this style of art. Really scratches that itch.

Hard but Addicting!. i never write reviews for games, but i just had to write feedback! the art style is like none of the games i've seen before and i don't really like games like these, but it just leaves me thinking 'one more try' after i die. great game!

Crime against gaming. The gameplay is literally one mechanic, and it is tedious after 5 levels or so. Also, it's straight to a paywall unless you have the grinding tolerance of a Saint. Tapestries come to violent life is a wonderful game premise. The gameplay has been executed so badly the producers should be banned from making any future games. The worst crime is that they've now killed the chances for any other game that tries for medieval cartoon violence. Clearly the visual artists put alot of work into it, and their work is beautiful; it's such a waste.

Good response time challenge with a unique look. Great idea. Simple control. Many, many achievements to chase after. I realized though when taking on the Lvl 70 challenger that if you use a certain charm and a certain companion, you no longer need to hit the targets. You let the companion do the hard work while you can put the phone down and let it slowly deplete the enemy hit points.

Medieval shenanigans. Look, this game delivers what it promises in the picture, good old fashioned medieval marginalia bashing in each other. Combat is fairly straightforward, and a bit repetitive, but they keep you guessing with challenges and it does get tougher. Oddly addictive. You can buy little charms to make it easier but otherwise there is no play to win element, just have to have the skill to move forward and get coin for more items. It’s a good way to kill five minutes here and there between something else.

Weird little gem. It’s a weird time passer. I wouldn’t say this is great by any means but it is a good time passing game. There’s nothing really deep here but there is enough unlockables and enemies to keep things interesting. The gameplay falls under the rhythm category so your enjoyment of this game comes down to your enjoyment of rhythm games. I will say that this is miles ahead of many of the newer games on the app store right now. Also, the art is unique and very well done. I’d recommend this game for sure. Ps: It would be cool to see more game mechanics in the future. I’d love if more was added or if the devs release a sequel with deeper gameplay in the future.

Fun game, but gets grindy as you progress. Really a pretty and fun game. The ring fighting is made enjoyable by all the mechanics that weapons, shields, and familiars (or whatever you call the animals) add. The game starts to get tedious after level 35 or so because the bosses become much more difficult than the regular enemies. So every five levels you have to go back and grind for coins. You use these coins to buy (blindly - you can’t see their effects) equipment in the hope that it will help you pass the boss. Of course this is the game’s freemium engine, as you are exposed to the same horrible game ads over and over (also to multiply the items you occasionally win). I was really upset to save coins to buy a familiar that “just eats cookies” rather than actually help me. So with these grindy/freemium elements the game becomes tedious. I am at level 65 but will give up here...

Fun but could use some things. Been playing it for about a half a week now and it’s really fun and I’ve enjoyed the artwork and come to like the upgrading system and how the battles actually work and the achievements are fun too. But I think there is a bug on level 40 it’s quite literally is impossible once you get down to the last two or so they vibrate and you lose before the sword even touches it and if you try to hit where it says you should when you lost it still loses so that’s frustrating. Also I would love to see some armor customization in the shop as well that would be cool. Keep up the hard work!

One of my favorite games. I’m not someone who plays mobile games but the art, music, and concept of this game is hilariously charming and incredibly entertaining. It doesn’t feel mindless or brainless like so many other mobile games. Definitely a must have!

Fun but.... I enjoy your game, but my gawd, every time I get a push notification or a text, it appears right where the action is taking place and I miss the target. I end up yelling profanities at my poor mother who just wanted to send me a recipe for the air fryer when I was two hits away from finishing a round that required 250 hits. It’s too much to ask me to turn off push notifications for a silly game. Instead, move the action wheel lower so the texts and pushes don’t disrupt the action.

Very fun!. I adore classic RPG games, & this is a great creative variation on turn-based RPG. I really enjoy the game, the medieval design, the play is deceptively simple but fun. The difficulty increases & changes at a good rate—I like how the battle style matches the characters’ traits/attributes—very cute! Buying new equipment & companions is a great layer to the game & keeps things interesting (something fun to work for). The Grinding process in this game is actually fun, vs migraine inducing like some rpgs. The game has a great sense of humor as well!

Awesome. I love the different challenges this game brings while keeping it generally simple. It eases you into an addiction :) I love the music and the art. I wish there was a way to watch the intro again. I skipped it by accident. You know... this may very well be my favorite game of all time... No... that’s fallout. But it comes really close!

Fun. The game is fun and I like the simple mechanics, which are apt for the style of game. However, the UI needs serious work for X+ users. Any UI element outside of combat sits at the bottom of the screen, where our handy app switcher handle just happens to be...in the middle of the screen. Why not the sides -- which are unused entirely in the app -- or located on the top scroll? There's another 90% of screen margin to place this stuff but it's in the bottom middle for some reason.

Ju$t one thing.... With ads (understandably, with people inherently cheap) being served like a tennis player on meth, can you make it ad-free after you (the dev) earn an estimated $25 or so, like an achievement? Maybe make it super expensive in in-game currency so players might have to, oh, I don't know... watch more ads? 😂 It kind of gets silly to pay an additional $2 after dealing with hours of ad serves. Yes, the game is free, but with so much IAP and at a penny a serve, you know you've made more than $2 by the time players reach level 50.

This game is sick. Medieval manuscript motifs in a simple tapping game? Genius. Absolute genius.

Good Game. Is a bit easy at the first 15 levels but I got a bit stuck after a while Also level 40 be impossible

Good but some balancing issues.. Up until level 35 the levels are fairly easy, requiring some focus but overall not being too challenging. That is until level 35, in which the difficulty increased by what felt ridiculous. I did eventually manage to pass the level, but such a sudden shock of difficultly change was quite harsh.

Enjoyable and challenging. Great game, good for when you just want to chill and tap your phone for a while. My only suggestion would be making gold a little less painful to come by. Unless you watch an ad every time, you’re going to be broke, and then you’re out of luck for better weapons, armour, and pets. Maybe an ‘idle’ style of gold generation while away would be great, or just better rewards. Great game though :)

Awesome. This game is so simple, and yet so dang hard!! I really like the play style and the fact that there is a ton of stuff to buy. I do think it’s to hard to get gold though. If you want to buy all the things, you pretty much have to watch an ad after every battle to double the gold earnings or grind levels you’ve already completed. It would be nice if you earned like 50 gold while you were offline or something. Keep up the good work though devs. Very cool :)

Nyef. I enjoy the game a lot actually but I actually have not got a single clue about how to get passed level 40

love it. The graphics are so goooooood

The game is great, do need some edit though. The art style is awesome, it actually not weird if you are familiar with how odd Medieval Europe painting. Here the actual review: 1. Weapons fun but lack characteristics, they feel the same. 2. Some of the enemies can be so annoying and frustrating, even after you finally learn the patents. It also unfunny to fight again the bosses since they start to be more ridiculous in their patents. Overalls 4 out of 5. It probably be better if this is a Final fantasy system game.

I love this game. This game is so stupid. I love everything about it, the art, the play, the fact that I don’t have to pay micro transactions. This game is great

I do not know what I would be. I have no idea of what I would be if I had not have found this amazing puzzle game because it is a real good game I’m only on level 25 but still it was so hard to get here so best to download this game

This is a great little distraction. That elephant was rather tricky;)

Looks interesting, but isn’t. The art style is really unusual and intriguing, the upgrades are fun, but underneath it all it’s just a standard mobile game with all the standard nonsense. Watch ads every single time you get a reward in order to double it (which means more time watching ads than playing); ads randomly play without warning; and the gameplay itself seems like an afterthought, with constant interruptions that undermine any flow you would otherwise build up. I’d love to see the same art design on a better game.

So addictive and fun. Beautiful medieval aesthetic, great soundtrack and a seriously creative, addictive, yet simple mechanic!

Great game. Just add some character customization to the game

Unbalanced. Some bosses (especially level 35) are nearly impossible. Otherwise it’s a pretty good time waster

Stolen Music. Stolen music from a 5 year old Skyrim mod (Legacy of the Dragonborn). Good job.

Greedy devs. Boring game COULD HAVE BEEN FUN if it were made to be like an rpg but no Instead waste money on garbage weapons and armour that have the same values as previous ones Also th SFX ARE WAY TOO LOW I WANNA HEAR THE WHACK WHACK THUMP

Great art, disappointing game. I love the concept and the artwork but the game itself is simple and repetitive. Ads are intrusive but can be removed with payment. I would pay if it were a better game. Also part of screen is blocked by top notch on XS Max

Not good.. Lovely art style, but that’s where this game’s appeal ends.

If you like reflex-based games, this is for you.. But the game can get tricky at times and it can get repetitive quickly.

Level 40 is broken!!!. The target shakes and kills you at the end instead of moving towards the sword. Please fix!!!

Beyond Art it’s a poor game. You have to time taps to attack. That’s basically the entire game. Seriously lacking in game play. I can’t think of a more basic game. 2 stars because Art is cool.

Laggy. If you’re going to have a game that is all about accurately hitting moving targets, then you need to be sure it doesn’t lag constantly. The action freezes for just a half a second at a time, but it’s enough to throw you off. I ended up wasting all of my charms trying just because of lag.

Great Game!. I love this game and how it incorporates medieval imagery in a fun way. Though I would have loved to see maybe a page for defeated enemies which shows their manuscript source!

Great. But level 40 is broken, instead of the target jumping towards the sword at the end it just shakes and kills you before the sword can even touch it.

Bon jeux!. Un jeu médiéval superbe! Malgré le gameplay simpliste et redondant, la musique et le thème du jeu sont splendides et nous amène dans l’imaginaire médiéval. Parfois je laisse ouvert l’application juste pour la musique

Unethical micro transactions. Video ads during gameplay and “doubling” rewards after combat to watch videos. Extreme difficulty curve meant to be surpassed with microtransactions. It’s too bad because the game looks good and the rhythm mechanic is cool. Ultimately though it’s ruined by interruptions of flow during gameplay. I know it’s a popular business model but in my eyes it just ruins the product.

So many ads!. Constant interruptions of ads ruins the flow of the game. Also some of the bosses are really cheap and poorly designed. That rabbit sitting on the snail (lvl 40), it’s really unfair how it goes so slow and then fast at the end.

best game ever. as a history student this is the only game i’ll allow myself to play

Good!. Not too much to do but a good time killer, also, first review! 😉

Pretty neat. This is a really cool and different game i like the style its funny characters and such i will play it through good

Yes, it takes practice. The learning curve is a bit steep, but if you are willing to play enough, it will be a fun game to work at. Think of it this way: you are training your reflexes, working on hand-eye coordination. The game won’t let you unlock everything without having to work for it. As a medievalist and European martial artist, I was excited to try the game and except for reference to a katana (booooooo) I think it’s a fun bit of tap game inspiration based on the fun drawing found in the old manuscripts.

😳. Such a beautiful game!

Fun, love the art, doesn’t kill you with ads.. Great

Good art style but boring game. Art style is really cool and unique but the gameplay is lacking depth. Too many Ads like most mobile games. Meh.

Awesome. Fun medieval art, entertaining yet simple gameplay, tons of items, great game.

Beautiful art!. I’m having a lot of fun with the app, it’s a great time waster and the visuals and music is wonderfully done. As long as you don’t take the game too seriously, it’s extremely fun!

A pleasant mobile game!. I really enjoy this game, the art is weird and wonky but it makes it all better. When you get used to the game you can really get involved. I can only appreciate all the hard work that must have happened to create this game.

Black Plague.. The music in this game goes well with the characters hair style........ epic. Super fun game with easy to learn controls.

It’s my favorite time killer ever. I like style, gameplay and process

Could be better.... The whole artistic design of the game is wonderful and the game itself is pretty fun but I really wish they added permanent upgrades to your character. It’s cool that you can have different weapons, armour, and pets but if you could have character upgrades instead of charms, then the game would be much better.

Racism. This game is racist

It’s all about patterns and reflex.. I’ve been playing this for a bit, quite fun actually. There’s items that could help you deal with a enemy. Some are even hard counters which is nice.

issue with Face ID screens. please update to function on iPhones with Face ID!

“Simple game” is right!. I NEVER write reviews, but I thought I had to in this case to give an honest review of the game and its developers. First off, the ‘game’ is you sitting there clicking the screen at the right time as two 2D paper cutouts move into the other’s frame. ZERO stars. Now for the developers: several privileged ultra cheekies sitting around listening to The Strokes as they boost their egos with their unparalleled wit and whimsy. PUKE stars.

Fairly good. Gameplay loop is a fun tapper with interesting upgrades. Art is unique and interesting to see. Only downside for the ad version, is the game doesn’t have a “smart” ad system. If you watch an add for a bonus reward, you may very well have an ad lined up for you as soon as you move to the next enemy. Not too irritating, but makes the ad system seem a little less thought out.

Accidentally racist?. I really like this game BUT the ‘monkey’ level is uncomfortable. The monkeys do not have tails. They are human-colored brown. They are not furry. It really really looks like your character goes from fighting whimsical animals/monsters to beating up Black guys. Like, even if it’s not historically accurate, could you please just add a tail? Not super fun to get to that point and then have to wonder if the game is being super racist!

V fun!. Very fun game that doesn’t feel like it’s begging me for money. I love the way the game plays and the fact that you unlock items quickly and with a bit of a challenge!

Marginalia Hero +?. Marginalia Hero is a fun game, I just wish there was more content. Perhaps another adventure after we’ve 100% the game / story that tells us what the heck the main character has been doing.

Good game. This game is a good time killer. Pro tip: to be able to defeat any level all you need is the old rye bread item (no time limit for a attack) and Ogier the pet (-1 enemy’s health point for every 1.5 seconds ). With this combo you can wait until your enemy is no more.

Bug on lvl 40?. Great simple game. Bug on lvl 40 is the only knock. Target vibrates then registers a miss on approach without any target movement. Reattempt after watching an ad yields the same result. Walkthroughs online show the level functioning the way I imagine it’s intended to. Really a 5 Star game besides that!

Difficult. Marginalia Hero is lots of fun but is way harder than it looks. I’ve had to take a break on a few occasions because it was too difficult.

Lag kills it. I have an iPhone XS Max and sometimes the game drops to what appears to be around 30-40fps making it very difficult to get high scores on royal tournament or defeat bosses past level 25. I absolutely love this game but the lack of optimization has absolutely killed it for me. *i don’t have low power mode on or any other apps open

Gorgeous and weird.... I really like this game, but there is a design flaw that keeps me from really getting to enjoy the oddness. They should flip the battle controls to under the battle so the player can see it from their peripheral vision. Now, I need to concentrate on the wheel and don’t get to see the strange animals attacking my avatar. It would triple the pleasure to be able to see it during play.

Love it!. Great game, love tho concept and design. Kind of relaxing yet challenging at the same time. Plus, you don’t have to pay out the wazoo or watch adds every 5 seconds.

Definitely medieval weird. As advertised, the game is weird in a medieval way, and the gameplay is unique, but harkens back to a series called Shadow Hearts inasmuch as you defeat your enemies by hitting targets around a ring. Well worth the $0 to download.

Medieval madness!. If you enjoy the Bayeux Tapestry, lute music , or even just the Ren Faire, check this little guy out. I’ll never get tired of the blissfully happy expression on our fighter’s face when he finished off an enemy, and those little targets move in fiendish ways... very fun!

Holy christ calm down. This game is easily the most infuriating part of my day. I have been stuck on level 35 for the past three days with little to no progress. It is extremely annoying and unfair. If you think you are a professional mobile gamer or something go for it, but if you are a normal human being this game is nearly impossible.

First review I have ever written. Play this game!!! It is worth your time, the level progression is nice because there is a significant but not steep jump between levels and when you win it is incredibly rewarding.

Not my type of game but maybe yours. In all honesty this isn’t my type of game I won’t hate on it because a lot of work went into this and I can see that. However just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean you won’t do feel free to give it a try and see for yourself.

Fun to play and beautiful to look at!. At first you feel this game is to simple and easy. But as you move up in levels you are forced to make changes to equipment and tactics. Very challenging and fun. Love the art and hope the game continues to develop.

Simple but solid game. Great little title for a few days fun, becomes insanely difficult quickly, maybe requiring you to be a bit more dependent on power-up than it should, but hey the gotta make a little bit off it. Art is simply wonderful, best in a long time

Game deletes all progress if u delete app. I spent 4 days playing this beat lil game only to fund that the gane completely destroys all your progress if you have to re install the app. That is pretty crappy, i feel like i wasted 4 days playing this game now. How hard is it to implement a auto save feature or allow you to sign in?

Surprisingly challenging. I got this game mostly for the nerdy aspects - medieval art, funny monsters, etc. but am surprised with its depth of play. The target with a rotating sword is simple yet with all the different types of play - speed, jumps, disappearing - it is challenging and varied. I enjoy it!

Weird addictive fun. Quite entertaining. I spent the extra cash to reward the developer. I’m wondering about some of the achievements though. Monotone III seems to stop at 68 and won’t let me get to 75. I’ve counted over 100 consecutive hits over several levels and it won’t increment!

Fun but. I haven’t gotten too far in, but with my iPhone 12 I noticed that I can’t see how much gold I have because it’s hidden by the top notch where the speaker is. I can only view my gold amount if I swipe up and slightly minimize my window.

Amazing. This game is addicting. From all the playing, my thumbs hurt. The only downside is that the game gets hard really fast. With a lot of practice, you can get really good.

Huh.... This game makes me pretty uncomfortable and is even slightly unsettling. The visuals with the quirky animations and strange audio for a weird experience. I can’t stop playing, even after a month I am still picking at this game.

Not my type of game, but the graphics and music are adorable. Everything reminds me of something out of Canterbury Tales combined with Arthurian mythology. Simply charming and adorable. I’m not the biggest fan of this type of game, as my reflexes have dwindled with age. But you get some generous power-ups for watching ads, so give it a try if you enjoy reflex-based challenge.

Love it!!. Clearly the devs put a lot of heart and love into this little gem. I love everything about it. PLEASE add stickers!! All the animals are so cute and a sticker pack would rock! Also, a primer on the spells and what they do. And it would be AMAZING to have the option of a female hero, like the princess in the Unicorn Tapestries. :) Seriously awesome.

Clever unique game. This is a cute “clicker” game with a clever medieval twist. The “No Ads Full” option is a pretty good value so far for backing off the “freemium” features. I think the game is clever so I’d pay anyway.

The person that states they never write reviews. I’ve seen this bs on tons of games people state “oh I rarely write reviews for games etc” is actually written by devs that created the game remember if you see a high high rating make sure you think twice before downloading the creators of the game still makes money off of You by clicking that “GET” or “download “ button

Medieval Best Life. This game got me living my medieval best life, i don’t mess around with the 21st century anymore! I sold my car, bought a horse, made friends with a weird deformed animal and I hit every beast I see with a spiked club! I’m never going back to reality! Thank you Marginalia Hero!!!!

Deleted after 5 minutes. I assumed a game with those imaginative pictures would be imaginative, but it’s very dull. Took me a while to figure out what was going on and how to play. Turns out to be a repetitive series of tappimg challenges, all about precision and timing. You dont even get to look at the pictures much. All your attention is focused on the signal telling you when it’s time to tap. I’m not interested in that at all.

One bug. Excellent game, I really like the art style. The only issue I have is there is a bug on level 40 that makes it unbeatable. The last few targets vibrate really fast as you approach and then once you get close, the sword automatically hits nothing and you lose.

Lovely beautiful boring game. Lordy does this miss the mark. It’s an amazing art concept, totally unique. And it’s all wasted because the “game” part is just timed tapping. Sure, it is just as advertised, it’s not like I didn’t know. But tapping to a random rhythm just isn’t close enough to “play” for me to enjoy this fantastic, one-of-a-kind art piece :(

Advertising. Every once in awhile there comes a game almost untainted by greed. Almost no involuntary advertisements. Game itself loads fast enough to close and reopen game in the rare event of unwanted advertising.

Dull Rhythmic Tapper. First the plus, great idea on the source of the artwork. Nice use of history and it stands out. Now the rest: 1) Basically all this is is about your being able to tap out different rhythms to swing your weapon - gets dull fast. 2) To be able to tap out the rhythms places your hand effectively over the image of the character so you are not seeing you fighting while fighting - the developer needs to swap the positions on the screen. 3) No story line, no movement other than the arm swinging the weapon, no nothing. Basically new enemy, tap a lot, die (start back over) or kill it, new enemy, repeat. Leads to the uniqueness of the art and theme getting rapidly tapped away.

Great game. Not only is this game fun it has a great balance of challenge and fun... when you get more into the game it is definitely not a cakewalk artwork is great so it the items I’m glad you have some customization!

What in the world. The only reason I’m playing this now is because I got an ad. I’d isn’t realize this game was made three years ago. It’s really fun.

Odd but enjoyable and addicting. As the title says, it’s one of the strangest games out there but it’s well done and quite entertaining and ,I dare say ,maybe a little educational as well. It’s worth a try

Very Charming, but not what I was expecting for combat. Definitely unique. As a fellow developer, I wanted to spend money. But I just couldn’t see a reason to do it. So I watched some ads and gave you 5 stars. Good luck.

Potential but bugs make it unplayable for me. I cannot play level 1 for either royal tournament or great journey I stand no chance as the snail has double my health and I hit as fast as a elderly turtle and I do barely any damage at all just fix it because I spent some cash to remove ads and I would hate for my cash to be wasted on a failure of a game so please fix this bug either that or idc just please fix this bug

Unique concept with fun gameplay. So refreshing to see a unique idea that isn’t completely consumed by ads. Yes they are there but most are quickly skippable. Actual gameplay is skill based, though my reaction time makes it hard to get past 21. Highly recommend!,!

Bug on level 40. It is a really fun and challenging game but level 40 seems to make you miss when you get near the end of the level making it impossible

Simple fun game but LOTS OF ads!. I like this game. I have played it for a few days now. I feel the level of difficulty is just right. Everyday I have something new to achieve. The only drawback of this game is that it has soooooo many ads! Sometimes I even see 1 ad (30s) for 1 round of game (5s)!

Good looking game, but.... I don’t really get the point. I mean I know what to do, but after a dozen or so levels, I just kinda shrugged. But I’m not much if a high score chaser, so there’s that. And I certainly don’t understand buying the things, why? But it does look good, and quirky. So maybe give it a try, but don’t expect too much, imho

Fun, but yet simple!. Games like these are the kind of games people want to play! The simple easy to play games like this one are the kind of games I like to play. Games like these have a lot of ads, but this game doesn’t have any. So I want to give the developers a thumbs up for the creativity!

Love this game!!!. Yeah it’s silly but isn’t that the point??!!?? This game literally makes me laugh out loud sometimes. How can something that seems so simple be so frustrating at times??!!?? It’s just fun. Great job!!!

Something worth it!. I was looking for a game exactly like this! Something that I would play anywhere when Im hella bored and you guys just made it true so thanks for the awesome work!

Satisfaction of an idle game. But you play this one. Very fun game, different enemies have completely different shticks. The items all change the course of a fight it different ways. And I love how the art really does seem like a stupendously wacky creature from a piece of art from the time

Yoink that meme. This game would become meme game of the year just because of the introduction artwork the concept is so silly I have play it at 4 in the morning without my glasses in the dark , I am blind but I’m having fun ! !! Super great music I just luving it btw

Simple if sometimes frustrating fun. You get what is advertised. I do wish that power up charms were more common and that the animations were a little more dynamic, but the illustrations are top notch and the concept is easy to learn, difficult to master.

So much fun. I’m not a gamer, but this app has me hooked. The design is wonderful and the gameplay just difficult enough to be challenging without being frustrating. Definitely recommended!
