Free app isn’t free. The app is free at the point of download only, quite misleading. I’m not going to drop money on something I’m not sure will work for me. I get that there’s a trial but it still requires you choose a subscription. A lite version or simple timed would benefit those worried about choosing a subscription plan or if the app is worth the investment. Until then I’ll stick with the Nike run app.

Rip off. I can’t believe the company went from $9.99 a month to $9.99 a week. That is a freaking rip off. I just received this response from betterme and they don’t understand that I was on a $9.99 a month plan and it was canceled by them and then when I tried to sign up again it was changed to $9.99 a week. “Hello, Please note that the cost of BetterMe Running app depends on the subscription plan that our users choose, and there are several options. Please help! Need my subscription canceled but still billed $120+. I subscribed thinking it was pay by week like it said but when I decided to cancel within 12 hours I was already billed for a full year which is over $120. I realized I have no use for this app! There isn’t any customer support that I know of so I can’t find someone to call and get my money back. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!! To the developer company, please contact me to help with this charge.

Scam - Be Careful When You Click Continue. This app is a complete scam. After you set your goals and enter your height and weight, be careful. The next screen has a continue button with fine print that will charge you over $100. You can barely read the fine print because of the small font and combination of grey text and yellow background. This app does absolutely nothing unless you pay the developer. Stay away.

Be wary!! Quick charge on unwanted subscription. I clicked a link in a browser on my phone and was taken to the App Store to view this app. I thought I’d see what it was about. I purchased the “FREE” app and it asked for my height, weight, target weight and running habits in the first 5 minutes. After looking around for another minute, I got a PayPal notification saying I bought a year subscription for $127!!! What?? When did that happen? I immediately called iTunes since the subscription payment went through them and they said they couldn’t help with a subscription refund. I did reach a nice supervisor that said she could refund my money and cancel everything. Be wary of an app that says on their billing page: “We cannot manage your subscriptions; this is your responsibility. Learn more about managing subscriptions in App Store.” It was too easy to get billed for this and others might not try so hard to fix it quickly. Be forewarned!!!

Absolute, unmitigated ripoff!!!. I signed up for a monthly subscription at $9.99 per month. They started billing $9.99 per week! Insane bait and switch. Apple used to pretend they were exercising some sort of due diligence to keep customers from getting scammed. Not so much.

Great app. Love this app really keeps me motivated on the treadmill and know we’re Ian and how to past myself. But I really wish this was this was on the iPhone watch I hate have tap my phone all the time to see how i am in the workout . But overall would highly recommend if your trying know how to keep your past as a beginner.

Not free. No option but to pay.. Despite the developer’s comments on other users’ negative reviews, there is no ‘trial’ option. You have one option, which is to pay $120 for the year. Additionally, there is no ‘levels’ as described by the developer. It’s $120 or nothing. Poor form. ***Amendment*** There is at least some free content, but you cannot access it until you close and reopen the app.

This app is misleading. As other people have said, they let you sign up for a free version than instantly pop up a secondary service and mislead you on what you are signing up for. The developer won’t do anything so I am taking it up with apple and I am reporting them for misleading advertising. Be warned....

Good app... suggestion. Would love for there to be an Apple Watch addition. I am trying this app to give me direction with my running and like it but don’t like carrying my phone on my runs. Update: I love that app as I continue to use it daily. I have noticed that if I get a call or text that the time will continue but I no longer get verbal instructions. With my headphones in and my phone in my pack it makes it frustrating to have to pull it all out to prompt the app to instruct me again.

Beware of unwanted charges. I downloaded the app to try it out and it was great but I wasn’t looking to buy the full version. Woke up this morning to a notice they submitted a $60 charge to buy it for a year. No thanks. Will be deleting all apps from this company. Beware of unwanted charges

$120 annual subscription!!. So I downloaded the application and started it answered the questions asked and the last question was submit to pay for annual subscription. This is built in such a way I wonder how many others were duped into paying also.

Not a free app.. I downloaded this app on August 27th with the belief that is was a free app. As soon as you begin you are trapped into purchasing the year subscription. In order to use app, you must have a subscription. I accidentally purchased this subscription and have been requesting a refund and have not received any feedback yet. Would not recommend using this app.

Very nice!. Day 1 use for me, I really enjoyed the deep breathing towards the end; I have never experienced with any other run app before; definitely a keeper!

Tricked purchased. Please read before you click on this alleged free trial because it’s not free. It charges you up front and this is a deceptive sale practice that should have lawsuit filed against. This may work great but I don’t like to be deceived into a purchase. Give me the opportunity to choose to buy or not to buy and then give no recourse for a refund. This is clearly theft by deception. The money is not the issue for me, it’s the deception. This is the first app that I have ever used that assumes a sale without consent and is proud to let you know they got your money and you can’t get it back even through Apple. This is not over yet, it’s wrong and whoever eats my money is curse with a curse. FYI the curse is FREE no charge and no deception.

Disappointing. I downloaded the app and got the free trial. After the trial was up it charged me, even though I canceled the subscription. Now for some reason I can’t download any apps cuz my payment for this app is pending and I can’t download apps til I pay it.

This app is NOT FREE. Do not make the mistake of thinking this app is free. After 3 minutes where you enter in your weight, height and desired weight they recommend how much you run. Everything else this app has to offer is $120 with no payment plan system other than the one time annual payment. It is unethical and very unprofessional to advertise a free app, and before you can even access the app they demand $120. Some ideas to make this app better. (1.) Have a free version of the app with limited tools but don’t make it worthless. (2.) Offer payment plans that are monthly and not annually. This demonstrates that you are more willing to appeal to the customers you want to bring in. (3.) If you are going to charge $120 for a running app throw in some incentives, or membership rewards otherwise your revenue will not increase.

NOT FREE!. This app is listed as free, however it will only allow you to complete 2 workouts and then it prompts you to buy a subscription if you want to keep going. If that’s the case, be up front about it in your description. I don’t mind ads and pop ups to use a free product, but it’s really aggravating when I think I’m going to use a free app just to find out that it’s a cash grab scheme. I won’t be using anything from this developer from now on.

$120, no thank you. This app looked interesting but it wanted to charge me $120 in the first 30 seconds of opening the app. No, thank you! I’d be interested in a few version to start and then maybe a paid version but this is ridiculous.

Scam. Don’t download. Zero functionality, and the “free trial” tries immediately to bill your iTunes account WITHOUT notice or receiving your authorization. The only reason I didn’t end up charged $100 is because I have my phone set to require my password on any purchases. Try RunKeeper instead— functionality is fantastic (and free!) and the training programs are way better and cheaper.

What???!!!. Okay it’s a free app with in app purchases. No it’s a free download with no access to anything substantial. You get to see the user interface which seemed really nice. However, it just locks you out after it gets your info. You cannot go past go, you can’t try a week of workouts, you can’t try a selected track for a month. Nope you have to buy into a contract. That’s a yikes from me. This app costs as much as a discount gym membership per month. So the interface is excellent the business model needs some help.

Absolute Scam. They’re hoping to make a ton of money by ambiguously leading people to pay for a $120 fee per year with ultra fine print that pretty much everyone is going to miss. When people complain they’ll respond with “We don’t handle refunds, should’ve read that ultra tiny fine print, you’re SOL.” I can’t believe Apple even allows this nonsense. Don’t download. Thankfully I saw reviews but would’ve made the same mistake so many people here already have.

So far so good. I like how the app tells you when to walk and run also at what intensity. Will continue to use.

Deceptive app. Free app. Download and install. Asks questions about current stats and goal weight. Then presents you with option to BUY a subscription that you can’t get past. And it’s not cheap! Only option is to buy or uninstall the app. I didn’t know Apple allows that kind of app in the App Store. Uninstalled.

Bait and switch. Reading other reviews I was cautious about going into the app as many people said you could only do a full year plan. The maker of the app kept saying “go into settings and change that” however you can’t even GET to the settings without paying $120 for a full year of service. Even the reviews are doing a bait and switch. Don’t fall for it.

Will con money from you. BAD. It will not tell you how to discontinue or delete profile without digging around in vaguely offered information for hours! They just want to make as much money as they can before you figure how to get rid of this crap. It doesn’t actually offer anything special: it just tells you to go run. ALSO. NO THANKS to the generic and completely unhelpful replies to all these 1 star reviews. Shame on you. GO FIX THIS, FOOLS.

Not a free App. Greetings, To be fair, I liked what I saw in terms of set up and guide; however, the app is listed as free to download since it says “Get”, but once in the app, you only have the choice to buy. They have different subscription levels, but that’s not the same as in-app purchases. In order to avoid looking scammy, just charge $7.99 at the outset and then let people modify after that. This avoids the shock of having to pay money just to proceed with setup when you were looking for “Free” apps, not free trials. Please be more transparent. There are enough one star ⭐️ reviews for you to have fixed this by now. I saw this app as a pop up in another app and downloaded without reading the reviews (I saw all the good ratings), now I understand the bad ones, unfortunately 😒

There are other apps that are true to their words and what they disclose. The amount of bad reviews on this app should tell you what they are. SCAMMERS. to add on, they dont refund you because they want to keep their money and they don’t respond to any emails simply because they’re scammersssss!!! Purchase screen unclear and Refunds not allowed. Downloaded the app to see how it worked. Did the set up portion and while trying to get it up it quickly came up with a box that looked like you just had to continue through it. Before I knew it, it was charging me $129 with no way to cancel that amount and now apparently no option to get a refund. I never intended to spend $129 on this app, and it’s unconscionable that there is no option for get a refund for an error in purchase when the purchase screen is not clear that you are purchasing a yearly subscription. Was able to cancel the renewal immediately, but apparently no way to get a refund, which is ridiculous

This app and developer are ridiculous. I downloaded the app from an ad inside another app just to check it out. I wasn’t paying enough attention to what I was signing up for and accidentally processed an annual membership. They have you fill out personal info for a few seconds then ask for $120. I immediately deleted the app and contacted apple to see about getting my $120 back. This was turned down almost immediately. DO NOT DOWNLOD THIS APP!! Now I have to go to my bank to dispute the charges. This app is highway robbery.

Opinion about the app. This app is great but you can only do a 2 soy work out unless you want to pay $41 ,yeah it gets you moving but you should not have to pay for a session.

Don’t quickly hit the notifications!. I began quickly hitting notifications to start using this app. Unfortunately I pushed the one that said one year subscription. This quickly charged me 135 dollars. I immediately cancelled the subscription and called Apple support... Apple couldn’t refund me and said I had to write an email to the company specifically! This has scam written all over it. Please beware of this company!!! I still haven’t gotten a response.

Don’t download. I learned my lesson. I should have read the reviews because many people had the same problem as me. I had just barely downloaded the app and they were charging me for a whole year, even after I pressed cancel subscription. I requested a refund considering I didn’t even use the app once and was charged a significant amount. Dont buy it unless you are sure you want it.

Love the app. The only thing I would change is, my music is lowered while the app is running. I need music to push through not sure why the volume is lowered while in use. Am I doing something wrong?

Not worth it!. I downloaded this app and was charged before the free trial ended. I’ve tried to use the app since but every time I pull it up it acts like I need to pay AGAIN for the app!! I’ve tried to resolve this through Apple but haven’t had luck so far. If the developer can’t resolve my issue I’ll have to fight the charge with my bank.

Be honest!. It says in app purchases, but really it's just a paid app. Which is fine, but state that or provide an alternative option. Ridiculous to have people download, enter in information and then make you accept a $119/yr subscription to proceed. Apple should prevent this type of description for paid only apps.

It’s a PAY ONLY app. I hate these apps that are listed as free but don’t actually let you do ANYTHING without paying. It’s all a scam and the practice immediately turns me off from this app. It’s 119/year or 10/month. **Edit** the developer response says there’s a free trail. That is indeed not the case. You cannot move forward without clicking the pay button. Maybe a bug in the app, or maybe it’s a free trail app I needed to download. Regardless, this version will not let you proceed without paying.

For beginners and people who already run regularly. I’m a beginner. I really like how this app gradually (super gradual and steady but not too much!) increased in difficulty. I like the variety of workouts too. Worth the money!

Misleading. Don’t list the app as free if you can’t get past the ‘personal details’ screen without paying $9.99 a WEEK(!) I can Google a running plan for free. I’d consider a subscription if it was anywhere near reasonable, but am turned off by the app anyway for being deceiving.

Scam App. My 15 year old downloaded this app and we were charged $129 - which he somehow didn’t realize would happen. I immediately tried to cancel but it would not let us cancel for the subscription term and is holding us hostage for 1 year. I email and tried to get the App owner to refund and let us cancel since their own policy prohibits children under 16...and I got not support or help.

I want a refund. Worst app ever, they give you an option of 119 dollars as the first option in order to steal your money and when you try to cancel the subscription you are still stuck with it, the app isn’t even good.

Ripped off. I too got charged $180 without even opening the app. I think it’s terrible it goes straight to annual subscription. I thought I would be asked before being changed. I think blaming apple and saying you don’t change apple foes is pathetic you set the conditions. The running programs are also pretty average. Big mistake on my part.

Subscription Cancelation. It is being really hard to find where I can cancel my subscription.

Unwanted subscription with no refunds. I was just downloading the APP and hoped to figure out it worth further investing. But before I realized anything(thought I was clicking through those registration process), my purchase of a one-year subscription had been done which costs A LOT comparing to similar services. There seems to be no way of get a refund. Feels like being tricked and really un pleasant because although part of that WAS my fault, there should be more confirmation of purchase and should start with a lighter plan as a default suggestion. Things would have been much different if my purchase was done on my will. Also, the subscription is NOT interchangeable with other Betterme APPs, even though it costs that much.

What a scam!. When I tried downloading it, it was a ‘Free’ app. After starting the app, I put my information such as weight and height and press next button. Without knowing, I have purchased a yearly subscription ($179.19CAD). I tried to cancel right after, but it didn’t work. Apple and the app provider wouldn’t refund the purchase. Very frustrating!!! There is no free trial or anything. You WILL BE CHARGED if you want to try the app!

Complete scam - PLEASE don’t download!. You advertise a 7-day free trial, yet I was charged $183.99 CDN, even when I went to cancel what I thought was my free subscription after 3 minutes because I knew it wasn’t what I was looking for. Clearly there’s an issue with the set up because you’ve got the same complaints ALL OVER your app reviews! The decent thing to do would be to refund those ppl who are asking for one. How awful of you to scam ppl like that. I legitimately cannot out food in my fridge this week because you literally just robbed my family. Like.... I don’t see what is so “amazing” about this app you pay a lot of money just for it to buzz every week telling you that you have to “workout” and “lose weight”. If I were to pay to have this “alarm clock” ring every week to tell me to “work hard” and at the end of the hard worked weeks that I didn’t even get to my half way mark that would be not only depressing but also discouraging. I have nothing wrong with this app I’m just saying that maybe you could give a week for free? Unethical App. You shouldn’t trust an unethical app because the first thing this app does is lie to you. It’s not a free app. The owners and programmers have explicitly chosen to deceive you and should not be trusted or given money. This is a paid app and a lie. It’s half an inch from scam territory.

Scam - Not a 4.5 - Deleting Reviews. NO WAY this is getting a 4.5. The developer is deleting reviews. Had to call Apple Support but finally got my $ back. ******************** When I was just reviewing the app and putting in my personal information to see if I liked the app I was asked if i want to subscribe to a $119 annual fee. That’s not free. It is too easy to accidentally select this option especially with fingerprint authorization. When I accidentally purchased the subscription there was no way to cancel the current subscription. When I canceled it it left the subscription for $119 applied and only cancel “next years” subscription. I don’t want this app. I don’t want to pay for this app. Especially now. I want a refund.
