IAA is being deprecated by Apple in iOS 13. We're moving to AUv3 as well. Please replace IAA with AUv3 in your projects.

GarageBand Audio Unit (AUv3):
You can run one instance of D1 as an AUv3 in GarageBand. With a host like AUM, you can run 3 or more instances at once.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
For iPad 4 - Open the "Settings" button (to the upper left above the keyboard). Turn the buffer to 512 or above. And turn the "CPU Efficient" toggle to on. If still having trouble, try closing other music apps and/or rebooting your iPad. Thanks!

Incredible quality for an incredible price. This app is excellent in just about every way possible. Beautiful sound, great UI… very impressed by everything this company puts out. The only issue I’m running into with this app and others by this company is that it regularly crashes when connected to my MacBook Pro (M1) when midi is sent via Ableton to D1 while audio is also being output into Ableton. This is all happening via a single USB-C cable. It’s a pretty major issue for me, but I still love the app and I might have something wrong on my end so I don’t want that to be reflected in my star rating.

Awesome Sounds, Easy to Setup and Sound Like a Pro!!!. Worth every penny (especially since it’s on sale)! Jump on board and own one of the best synths available for the iPad, or anywhere else for that matter. Comes with a truly exciting series of preset sounds, with the ability to easily transform them and make them sound like your own.

Adios , other synth apps..... From now on when I play live or record and need great ,professional sounds...I know this synth will be the one that delivers instant inspiration. Thank You so much for what you’re doing for musicians everywhere. The quality on this one is killer.

BEST VST FOR IOS PERIOD!. First off I’m a musician not a sound engineer for movies or anything for that matter. With 400+ presets, and not like some lame presets that you’ll get from other apps which all sounds very similar and the only way to get that sound you’re looking for is to spend hours tweaking it. I have to give major props to the guys at D1 for putting in the works to create such high quality and beautiful sounding presets, and only if I really have to tweak anything it will be very minimal. Of course D1 has all those fancy tweaking nobs but who has time for that when you’re in that moment where you just want to lay down a quick melody or chords. D1 layouts are truly amazing, very simple to use especially for a guy who doesn’t like nobbleing around and this doesn’t overwhelms me at all. I CAN NOT WAIT till they release the AU3 compatible version of this app. Awesome work guys! Keep music alive even though it’ll never die. BTW, I hate writing reviews as much as I hate tweaking sounds but for this app I just have to.

What a blessing. I didn’t give this app a look because I think it was the price tag. Too low. I thought a good synth app would be starting around 10 bucks. So now that I have purchased Moog, GeoShred, basically all of Korg, Pure Acid, Streetlytron ‘63, and so many others, there are only really a select few that I use. I always passed up Digital D1 while searching for my next synth. It wasn’t until I started reading the reviews that I finally just said, “All right, I gotta check it out. “ I don’t regret not purchasing this earlier, but I’m like, “man, people need to know about this app.” So people, take it from me, you are going to be knocked off your feet when you listen to what this beautiful instrument can do. There are so many friggin presets that I haven’t gotten through them yet. The sound is phenomenal. You’ll just be so amazed. I wanted to write a review purely based on the character of this company and team members. I think you’ll know what I mean when you get this app. They are kind, generous (free preset downloads), and make you feel important, needed. So It’s a pleasure to help out where I can and write a review. You have given me more than I could ever ask for. Thank you team. And peeps, really, you NEED this in your synth buffet. You better do it. Haha. Go on now!

Unbelievably good. This is an incredible app and well worth the money. You could charge more for it, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you don’t. And I’m glad for countless electronic musicians out there who don’t have bottomless budgets for software and apps. This provides a very wide palette of sounds to choose from/program. I create ambient music and the pads especially have that amazing warmth and depth that I only expect from real analog. Great job with this app!

So far works great in aum and Cubasis love the sounds too. I’d been eyeing this and seeing it high up in the top app charts so kept skipping over due to the notes about crashing and limited auv at first, til recently it’s been consistently high up in top charts with a very Hugh rating so I decided to try it at 3.99 , largely in excitement for Brice presets and more . I also read extremely positive reviews too and have learned that sometimes less apps get low rating due to user error buying it before out knowing how to use it and then expressing frustration in a review . That said this is a great synth and I’m on a 2022 iPad Air 5th gen, no crashes .

Awesome. Hands down one of the best digital synthesizers on the app store. Versatile and easy to use, the sound quality is incredible. I have used this to score two short films and a feature length film, this will quickly become your go to digital sound source.

Robust synth with active developers. I am impressed with the quality of this synth. It rivals options I have in my desktop that costs hundreds more. It is obvious by the fervent update pace that the developers are passionate about this project. Not content with releasing and forgetting like so many other app creators do, these folks have made several substantial updates in only a month if that. The present library is huge thanks to a free patch update, and seems to only be growing. Very glad I picked this up, and almost feel guilty for grabbing it on sale. Will look for other ways to support these guys like buying new products or expansions if they are released. Highly recommended.

This developer deserves the highest award.... ...for the hardest working coding team, ever. Just a few days being released and many, many updates already to solve just about every bug. Amazing vision and phenomenal dedication. How good this world can be if everyone works this hard to please everyone else. Wow! Oh yeah, the synth is quite impressive, too.

Possibly the best App Store synth available.. It’s not filled with a bunch of preset sounds that I’ll never use like most synths I own (and enjoy). These are all beautiful and practical sounds for making professional sounding and interesting music. The sounds are so lush and full. I’d been waiting for a synth like this for a few years.

Simply the best. Absolutely he best synth app period (except for AudioKit SynthOne). The best sounds, the best features and now AUV3!!! If this synth app was in a plastic shell with keys it would cost thousands, but the developers have made sure this app remains affordable and available to the public. All funds go to the continued development and expansion of SynthOne which is an awesome cause! Keep up the great work 😍❤️

WOW !!. This app has become my favorite synth, and I own many! Each update makes it better and better, with much more to come. The team of talent behind it not only keeps adding great preset banks and features, but is also always responsive to questions and suggestions. Highly recommended!

AudioKit does it again. I am blown away by the quality of the presets, but when you start tweaking effects and the THREE LFO’s well, I’m done. I started marking favorites until I realized I was favoriting most of every bank. The songs that will come from this will practically write themselves. GREAT JOB GUYS!!! P.S. that lovely distortion circuit would make a great addition to Synth One, imho. Once these are both Auv3 I imagine I’ll hardly use anything else.

Still Not Usable as AU. Update Nov 19th, 2019: D1 just interrupted my project asking to send notifications, causing Nanostudio 2 to crash and completely wipe out my project. I didn’t even have it in my project as an Audio Unit! I guess having it on my iPad is dangerous. I see you released a new update claiming audio unit stability, but it still isn’t working. I give you credit for trying, and maybe one of these days it will work. I bought both the apps claiming AU3 functionality, only to be sadly disappointed. They are nice as standalone apps, but this is not why I purchased these. You cannot in good faith claim that these are functional when they are not. Unfortunately you’ve already made these claims, and there’s only one direction to take, and that’s to quickly resolve the issues. Musicians are very forgiving, and like myself are enamored by the amazing apps you’ve developed. Looking forward to the day that I read all issues resolved. Then I’ll be back to download again and to leave a better review. Good luck!

One of the greats for 1/3 price. This synth performs and has as many or more features as some of the 30-35 dollar apps, which half of them aren’t even kept up with as far as updates for new devices. Amazing sound/feel, seamless integration with everything with no crashes and minimal cpu usage. No crackles! Some apps are crackling on brand new iPad Pro 3rd gen, after paying too much for them, not this one!

How can something so good cost almost free.. Considering I have lots of Synth apps for $20 or more, the price .99 cents is remarkable. The only thing better than the price is the actual app! Some Musicians made an app a no brainer purchase! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I use it everyday on my KronosX which I think add’s even more to the quality of this app and its sounds! To good to be true!

This app is great. I love this app so much. It sounds great and it is easy to use. The only thing I think would add to the experience was if the two low pass filters had an envelope as well. It would allow the to make analog brass sounds through the filter as well as more sound shaping.

The best midi keyboard app you will ever find.. Yes, that is correct, totally free of adds, totally open source giving you access to coding. And it’s free. There isn’t enough I can say about audiokit. They care about people that cannot afford a 3-5 thousand dollar keyboard. I like everything that audiokit put out. The only thing I with the wish they would of add were the touch pads that synth one has Paul

Battery Fiend. Hands down, d1 is one of the best synths you will be able to get on iOS. However this thing chews through battery. I left the app running in the background overnight and in roughly 7 hours it consumed 50% of my battery. This was while my iPad was locked and put away for the evening. Other than that, it’s a fantastic app worth the money

RECORD button, por favor. So far I’m really enjoying all the extra noises I can make with this app. (Back in the day I owned a Kong 01/W.) But it really needs a RECORD button like the SynthOne app has—saving patches is less of a priority for me than is the quickest way to record the audio output. I do a lot of improv that involves manipulating settings on the fly, and capturing the output in the moment is a lot easier than trying later to re-create sounds that may have been the result of numerous smaller choices along the way. As long as I’m in wish-list territory, it would also be great to have the ability to select different scales, as in the SynthOne app. I get all sorts of interesting results by changing scales midstream; I miss that here.

Amazing tool. I have to say for it’s price it is an amazing tool. Even if it was more expensive it would still be Worth it. It is simple enough with more than enough tools to alter your keys any way you wish.

VERY GOOD BUT ALSO VERT BAD. This D1 Is amazing but like most things created from open source, it's prone to errors. Maybe you have to many cooks in the kitchen and some of them need to be let go! I'm using this with Beatmaker 3 and for some strange reason it changes sounds out of nowhere! There are no program change messages being sent. So I have no idea what is going on. Help someone please help. I paid for the instrument thinking the free version was buggy because it was free, then I read after buying it that it was created via open source. Ahem. What is this a keyboard for Linux. I personally hate open source software due to the fact that it remains always in a " beta " form. I hope they can make the next update very soon but I will not be paying for this again in fear that it will remain broken.

This is an amazing synth!. I have so many synths and this really stands out instantly as one of the best iPad apps. I can’t believe how sick the modulation wheel is on almost every patch, with detailed info in the preset browser window, I love that! I will most definitely be using this in my productions. Thanks for your great additions to the iOS world and keep up the great work....looking forward to the auv3 update!

You can’t just call it a massive synth and write off its flaws!. It is crazy that you cannot run more than 3 instances of this without crashing. On an iPad Pro 12.9? Why is it every other massive synth handles at least 10 instances? I’ve had to scrap full songs because it crashes during mixdowns and it doesn’t remember what presets it was on. I wouldn’t be salty if they didn’t have such great sounds though. Really upset I purchased this as my main synth, since I don’t have anymore money for others and can’t make music anymore.

Great success. I love this platform. A ton of stapled presets to play with. Not the most advanced synth, but it has almost everything I need. Especially combined with the Synth One app built on the same platform. The interface is clear and I can focus or WHAT I do with the sound, not spend 90% of my time looking for my sound. This is turning out to be a great success

Wow! Amazing!. I’m a music hobbyist and I have been thinking about buying a hardware synth. I found D1 and spent most of the evening listing to all the sounds. I think I can save a lot of money and use D1 for most of the songs that I will put together. If you don’t have this synth yet you need to get it. The price is right. You will get so many great sounds.

My desert island synth. I have a bone to pick. I’m spending way to much time playing the presets instead of making music. I can’t stop. This is the hands down best synth app in my arsenal. This is also the first synth I’ve spent time programming my own sounds because of the amazing depth of features. On top of that the contributions of other programmers has really enhanced the sound pallet. I do have some issues with occasional crashes with my various iOS DAWs but Matthew is really diligent to make fixes and bring loads of new features and content. I’m confident that this will be recognized as the best iOS instrument available. At a great price.

Stability. Hey can we get some stability improvements? Still a 5 star app but very often wen I’m recording the midi from this into audio it misses some notes. Sometimes it does it without trying to record as well. Please look into this. Really want this to remain my go to synth.

Could Be Top Dog! 🐕🐕🐕🔥🔥🔥🔥. This app hands down has some of the best sounds of any AU available! The only thing stopping it from being top dog is the random drop out of notes once you record a sequence. Developers, any idea what is causing this or what I can do to stop it? I really love this app but every time I make a song with it I have to replace the sound with another app which takes away from the song. Any word on a fix for this? I love this app and your others! Keep up the good and hard work!

Digital D1 - Amazing. Been around Synths for over 25 years and DD1 is simply Awesome. Love the quality and sounds a lot and just begun exploring all the possibilities.... awesome job. Looking forward to see where this App evolves. Thank You to all involved. Well worth the money. By the way .... I discovered this after getting the totally FREE App “ SYNTH ONE “ and to be honest. I am having a hard time deciding which one I like better 🎹

Quelle debut!!!. I’ve only been playing around with for the last half-hour, but I think this may be my go-to synth for awhile...I’ve already learned more about how synth controls work than I ever knew before. This is a very giving instrument, it doesn’t hide, it inspires...

Still not fixed!!!!!!!!!!. I was pretty excited about AUV3 functions but it has been nothing but a disappointment. I am still having problems with hearing D1 AUV3’s recordings when song has been rendered from mixdown in NanoStudio 2. I hear all other track instruments except the tracks where I used D1 AUV3. What would cause this? There are major gaps in my song because D1 will not export sound in final mix when using NanoStudio 2. Limited Frustrated Reviewer 😒😒

I love the potential but it just crashes way to much.. I’ve had D1 since close to its release date and it has never really been to stable. It is one of my favorite synths but it seems the stability has been a problem for it to be useful. Right now with this latest version it crashes within moments of opening within AUM and being feed midi from atom. I do love all of the possibility with endless tuning and hundred and hundreds of free presets, and forthcoming AUV3. That AUV3 update cant come any sooner for me, I just hope that bugs can be worked out. I will change my rating to a 5 when it becomes more stable of an app. Otherwise nice potential.

Off to a great start app , Not a waste of money. Been spending some dough on synths apps for awhile to compare to. Some are not so great. D1 is one of the better offerings I have come across. You probably will not be disappointed. Don’t think old school sounds think thought out usable sounds. That is good

Love it!. Amazing sounds, many reminiscent of alternative/synth music I grew up with in the 70’s and 80’s. Have no idea how to use the controls or even how to record, but it’s just fun to play around with. More than happy to purchase and further support the development of their excellent free Synth One!

Great sounds but.... I can’t in good conscience give this app better than 2 stars. It just crashes far too often for it to be usable. I continuously try to use this synth in BeatMaker 3, and it just won’t work properly. I can have just 1 instance of this app open inside BM3 (and no other plugins!), and it will freeze. Have to hit the “panic” button all the time. This is very unfortunate, because of how much I want to use it. Using iPad Pro 2018.

Great Synth. This Synth already is great ! Yes I am one with pops / hiss sound problem . But I know you will get all things fixed . And we will even see more updates making it even better. You are all great kind people ! We believe in you as you believe in us . Thank You , from the heart. Regards, TotallyKenny

Almost perfect.... Love the sounds the D1 and Synth One make. Haven’t even had time to make my own presents since all the presets that are in this synth are amazing. I do have a problem when using it with apeMatrix or when connecting to my Digitakt via USB. It crashes constantly when being controlled by external midi. For now I’ve been recording small loops and adding them to my sequencer. I’ll wait for further updates but I hope to make this my go to soft synths soon.

Great Synth by a Great Company. Not only is the synth itself really amazing, but it does a great job combining an old technology in a new way. Makes really great pads naturally but also can be used for some faster funky stuff too. The AudioKit team is very responsive to bug reports and is committed to fixing everything they can. This is a great synth but also realize all the proceeds go to supporting the open source effort of AudioKit. They make free synths for everyone and they provide a free platform to help people make their own audio applications to their apps. I’d get the synth just to support that effort, but it also happens that this is a very nice one of a kind synth for iOS.

Incredible sounds!. I dont write many reviews but I am so impressed with the sound quality and the numerous extremely useful patches that I had to take a moment and post this. I have nearly 40 synth apps on my iPad Mini 4 and this one ranks right up at the top of the heap. I sent a text to my buddy telling him not to buy this app because I knew he wouldnt come up for air for days. Of course, this means “buy it right now”, which he did. I know I wont see him for a long while :)

Finally!. Finally, a Synth App that gives you Usable Sounds instead pf 90% Wild and Crazy Sounds I will never use, Musically. I was saving Favorites until I realized I was saving every other one. And, then I Still kept Saving! One of the Best Synths on IOS and at the Moment, my Absolute Favorite. With these Usable Sounds, the Creativity Flows out Naturally. Just Buy It!

Lots of sound.. If you are only going to have one synthesizer app, this could be worth considering. Very versatile and not difficult to learn. The only problem I’m having is getting it to work with AUM.

Simple, Smart, and Sophisticated Synthesis. The Audio Kit team has taken the best from their other development projects and created a refreshing take on the classic D-50 synth. While I’ve been doing sound design for more than 30 years, and feel comfortable tackling a steep learning curve, this system allows for quick and easy exploration of the system, and the creation of both classic and surprisingly fresh sounds with shocking rapidity. The expansive modulation matrix, brilliant filter models, and a vast array of sampled sounds, allows for a seemingly endless range of tonal possibilities, and that’s before you discover the standard waveforms. I had the good fortune, and good sense, to purchase this app on launch day, and at a fantastic discount, but it is well worth the full price. I’ll be using this system for a long time to come.

Love It. I love the sounds I’m getting out of this app. My only issue is that I’m experiencing some pretty significant midi lag. When I play the app using its built in keyboard, I get great performance. However, when I try to use a midi app or an external midi keyboard, I get lag and dropped notes when playing faster. That’s the only thing holding it back from 5 stars for me. Edit: I’m not sure what you guys did, but the latency seems to be greatly improved and I’m not noticing any crackling at the smallest buffer size. Thanks!

The digital one sent. How’s it very clear in pristine sound I am learning to use it and I am having very much fun And can very much be used in different types of music I think you will really like it very much for what you can do with it I really appreciate the people who made it and I think you will too when you get it Keep your musical life this will do it W,boyd

Phenomenally stunning. Without a doubt, the best of the best. This app is nothing short of an incredible gift to musicians. What can I say that others haven’t already? This is the only app that allows me to experience my D50, fully enjoying its abilities on my iPad. And Digital D1 goes well beyond anything my D50 can do. It’s that good. Synth One is no less incredible. Support this project people, this is an extremely rare example of perfection. I cannot thank its developers enough, and the community that gave us this remarkable instrument.

Crash crazy. I love the sounds, and the ability to creat my on presets. But when using it an app like BeatMaker 3 or Cubasis 2, it crashes often while in the middle of finding the perfect sound for my beat or even just starting a beat. It will literally be the first Instrument that I’m attempting to use and it crashes. I have 2 other apps made by this company (Synth1 & FM Player). Both also have great sounds and usability, but crash often. I thought they crashed because they were free and I haven’t donated anything, but Digital D1, I paid for and experience the same issue. Even using it in AudioBus, it sometimes doesn’t open. When I finally get it to work, it’s because I have to power off my iPad and power it back on. ThAts a vibe killer..... I want to give it 5 stars, but the crashing makes it hard to fully enjoy it.

Sweet incredible retrotastic glory!. This synthesizer is perfect. The controls are laid out intuitively, the occasionally self deprecating commentary is… Well, we are all right there with you, little synthesizer. And the sounds! It’s like a guided tour of what the ‘90s were trying to be. An encapsulated anachronism tuned for the modern ear. Incredible. Useful. Perfect. This app is dramatically underpriced. I don’t know what the regular price will be after launch, but for five bucks I feel like I stole this. It would be a deal at $50. If they make this as a plug-in for Logic, hopefully they’ll charge a more reasonable, and much higher, price. (Note to devs: PLEASE DO THIS.)

Really want to love it but.... I really want to love this synth but it keeps crashing almost each time i switch to another preset. I’m not even using it with any other app, just literally trying to test it out as standalone and i cant keep it open for more than a minute. I have other Audiokit synths and apps and all work fine with maybe an occasional crash here and there but this D1 is really disappointing. I havent even been able to play with oscillators, etc. just literally checking out the preset patches at this point. Very unstable. I have a pretty capable ipad pro 2nd gen with plenty of space and latest 14.3 ios. As a matter of fact i was not on ios 14.3 when i first downloaded the D1 and figured i just needed to update ios to address the constant crashing but after updating its crashing just as bad. I tried powercycling, closing all other apps and its just not letting me play with it for more than a minute (if im lucky). Please make it more stable.

Indispensable. D1 is a treasured resource and has cured my hardware synth FOMO.

Fixed! Well done AudioKit Pro!!!. Thank you so very much AudioKit Pro for the latest Update, which has now completely remedied the problem with the presets, and the App is now FULLY usable! No other worries so far as I can see! What a terrific Synth this is, and you fixed it in less than 24 hours. WOW, that is impressive work! If I was able to award you all a medal - I would! Many, many thanks for this incredible effort. BTW - I didn't even have to adjust the buffer as you suggested - it wasn't necessary! All the best, from an extremely happy customer with a WONDERFUL Synth, Roger.

excellent bread and butter digital synth. This is a solid bread and butter digital synth and I’m happy to support the AudioKit project for all the other good it is doing for the iOS music community. problem with update: even with restarting the app, the AudioBus patch bank appears but is empty. Update: FIXED! mmm...AUv3 will make this epic.

Brilliant but riddled with bugs. Sound wise this synth is a fantastic recreation of old PCM synths, it’s probably my favourite iOS synth for pads. Unfortunately it is incredibly buggy and is unusable as an audio unit.

Worth the investment. Perfect integration with Cubasis. Sounds better than my Korg. Thanks fam ❤️

A real impetus for creativity. The presets here are so inspiring and conducive to endless fun designing new sounds! A very straight forward and easy to navigate GUI.

Your mad if you don’t !. I’m a big analog synth user and to be perfectly honest I write a lot of music and arrangements on iPad then cross them over as I feel the sound hasn’t been there. Since synth one came I’ve been watching what these guys are doing and I’ve love using it. BUT THIS... it’s good, it’s really good, use it anywhere it will hold its own and there are very few soft synths I will say that about. Like I stated I’m a analog guy and this is as good as there has been to date on iOS as far as I’m concerned. You would be mad to not support this, it’s a must have and if you don’t believe me try synth one..... but be aware D1 is better in pretty much all ways, you will notice the difference. This is a quality product!

A crashed. Keeps crashing please fix.

No recording Botton and no enough easy access. No recording Botton and no enough easy access Charged me $7.99 AUD for nothing. Stupid

its good, not great but good.. This is a good synthesizer marked mostly by high quality presets. beyond that it is a good synthesizer that will see very minimal usage from me without auv3. (which the devs say is coming very soon)*UPDATE. AUv3 is on its way anytime now. Since I have started using this synth more and more making my own presets, the sound design engine is so user friendly and fun to use. Certainly with Audio Unit capabilities this is one of the top 10 synths for me now. AudioKit deserve heavy praise for this achievement and the iOS community is grateful.

AK D1...Just getting better...loving it!. Hi Guys Thanks for the updates...you respond really quickly and its a joy to play with D1...the new updates are producing a greater range of sounds and music..and yes...it responds to really quick keying...will send you something...see if you can pick it out... awesome work guys....please keep going...djb (Melbourne) David

3 Stars Because…. This crashes constantly. All I have to do is browse presets. Instead of telling people who bought this to update to newer technology, maybe update this to bring it in line with newer technology.

Another winner from AudioKit. Sounds great, variety of quality presets staggering, very tweakable. Updates regularly.

Amazing sounds. New to iOS these sounds are amazing and I couldn’t be happier.

Almost Perfect but Issues With Scala Files. I love almost everything about this app and its counterpart Synth One. My only complaint is that Tune Up needs a little tweaking. When I try to import a Scala file (.scl) using the “import” button in the “tune” section of Synth One, the file is greyed out. When I change the file extension to .txt, it is no longer greyed out, but selecting it doesn’t actually load the tuning, it just closes the menu. So I have no way to import scales from the Scala archive into Synth One, and thus no way to get those scales into Digital D1 either. Tune Up is working perfectly, I can create a scale in Wilsonic and load it in Digital D1 or Synth One. The only issue is when I try to import a Scala file from the Scala archives or another third party source, the “import” feature just doesn’t work in Synth One. And because of that I can’t import it across to Digital D1 either. Once this is fixed, the app will be perfect. As it stands right now, it’s almost perfect. I’d give it 4.9999999 stars! And same goes for Synth One and Wilsonic. Keep up the great work :)

Superb!. Blown away. Worth it just for the X-50 Fantasy preset alone.

D1. Great synth!!

I think I bought the wrong APP but I’m not disappointed. I didn’t know I needed 80’s & 90’s sounds. Happy accident :)

Great sounds, not so stable in AUM. Love the patches but seems to bug very often in AUM. Need to reload it everytime. Also it changes patches without notice.

Just the best synth. Congrats for this masterpiece.

Abandoned app. This is simply a flawed product. As others have said the app doesn’t work with Garage Band. There is no means inside the app to save the work of music you’ve created. Even the free synth one app has a save function to output an MP3 file. The developers have my money so there is little hope in getting much needed features added. Save your cash and look for an app that is complete as this one sure isn’t

Wow. Making electronic music is reliant on gear that’s inspiring fun and rewarding. This digital hardware synth delivers on all those fronts . It’s by far the best synth I’ve used on a I device and a classic synth period . Seriously this is legit and should be the first iOS synth you get . I downloaded the companies other offerings and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them .

Auv3?. Hi - just purchased this app! Love the sounds, but I thought it was Auv3? Meaning, it should run natively in GarageBand on iOS? Rather than having to switch between apps like the old IAA did?

Digital D1. It is absolutely excellent. Thank you.

Garage band issues. This is a great sounding synth but it works horribly in garage band. It keeps freezing and asking for reloads even with one instance. Any plans to fix this? This is a shame considering how great the synth is.

D1 is unique!. They are really trying to make this synthesizer even better that it is now. That is a difficult job regarding the facts that D1 is already a excellent synthesizer. The developer team is amazing and they will make this instrument even better. The future looks bright for D1 and I am always ready to support open source projects like this one. I hope you will do the same even if you already have more than enough synthesizers on your iPad. Thank you!

An amazingly great App. I have been using this app for some time now - it allows me to work on ideas and make beautiful sounds at the same time. It has never frozen, glitched or lost portions my work. I am amazed by the quality and versatility of Digital D1. Thank you.

Great Synth. Great synth with some of the best presets I’ve heard in a long time. Beautiful and inspiring stuff. I would lose the emojis that some patch descriptions include. They are tacky and clash with the otherwise classy and zen aesthetic of the interface.

Great app. Yay AudioKit!. Lots of great sounds. Useful addition to synths collection.

Amazing sound, lacks Audio Unit Extension. I’d like to use this with GarageBand. Can you add audio unit extensions?

Rich sounds. Creative and pleasant app Lots of go moments of enjoyable music creation

Another great synth from Audiokit. A great addition to my iPad synths collection!

A Top Synth App. I am very impressed with this synth app. I began by downloading the free AudioKit Pro app and was very impressed with the awesome collection of built-in presets and then decided to purchase this Digital D1 app. The presets and sounds from this app is even better. It has a top notch collection of presets and I love the interface of these Audiokit apps. Very clean and user friendly. I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking to gain a nice collection of instruments to expand their music creativity. I am looking forward to seeing the next updates and features this developer will provide us musicians.

Crashes in AUM. Updated review - loads much better and amount of crashes reduced substantially after update - thanks

Gorgeous. For spacey, out-of-this-world sounds, this is just the thing!!

Sonic heaven!. Absolutely fantastic!

Keeps crashing. Crashes after 5 minutes on ipad pro 12.9 m1

Another winner. Free or not free, when it’s great, it’s great. One of the very cool things about the audiokit apps is that the interfaces are all similar. I never understood a developer that has good sounding stuff to totally change the interface with every new app. If it works and most people like it, why change it and require a learning curve just to figure out the UI? Its not a fashion show, it’s about making music with as good a workflow as possible. I see apps that sound good but I don’t use for reasons like the interface having no contrast so I have to squint when I use it. There seems to be a new stupid thing with interfaces with labels that look like they are disabled. I have one app that I love the sound of, but refuse to use because it’s so frustrating. I need a magnifying glass to read parameter values. Audiokit apps are easy for me to see and sound fantastic. All around winners. Thanks mr kit, or is it mr audiokit.

Nice play thing. It sounds amazing, but random crashes prevent it from being used more seriously. Still a nice play thing though!

Best In Class. No sense in downloading this until they’ve fixed the sample rate problem they have. You can play this when not recording or in play mode but if you start to record, notes will 100% drop off and not trigger on time with the tempo rendering this app useless for me. Unless someone has a solution to fix the sample rate on the new iPads, I would not recommend you download this app.

Fantastic synth. What a great synth. Tons of presets and they all sound fabulous. I have many iOS synths but bought this to show my support and say a huge thank you the dev team. You guys rock.

Needs drastic improvement. The sounds are amazing. But is has great reliability issues in iOS. The app does not load properly on Garage band every time as a Audio plugin. Until these issues are fixed, as a user I just am not able to enjoy it. The app needs a major improvement.

Terrific app and developer.. It sounds fantastic as expected. Beautiful interface. As with anything like this (also applies to LayR), I always wish to be able to bring it my own audio content somehow. If that is a remote possibility, I’ll take it 🤪. Thank you very much for the superb work in any case...

World Class Super Synth!!!. This Dev is so unbelievably generous! I Just bought it at the early Intro price and I just got 300 free presets for being so nice! The sounds and patches of this Synth are so incredibly gorgeous. Their are truly lush pads, all made by world class reknowned music app preset sound designers lending their insane talents to this project of love! What is not to love? You will find the Synth bursting with awesome sounding presets, all packed into a well thought out, well featured Synth with sounds so sweet it even beats Halloween treats by a mile. Please support this very kind and generous Dev. Jump in early and get one of the best deals of the year with the special time limited intro pricing! I love the choir-like sounds, rousing ringing bells and the super lush pads especially so. You can’t go wrong with this purchase. It’s quickly becoming my favourite music app release of 2018 and that’s really saying something with it being a banger year for iOS synths already on offer. What’s not to love here? I am loving this synthi beastie. Dive in and join all the fun! March 2019 Update: The Dev goodies keep on coming regularly. Now I’m a Platinum user YAY! Even much more new sounds and patches added. This Dev is spoiling us. Thank you for your tireless & hard work, the results are brilliant. Still is one of the most responsive and generous Devs out there. Updated frequently, impossible to go wrong with this incredible app. Please support the Dev and pick up this synth and the rest of their apps. And check out all the fun musical goodies you will now get with them. Best of luck AudioKit Dev please keep up the top notch work, I love you guys!

Genial 👌🏼. Muy completa! Sin embargo no la he podido usar como instrumento en GarageBand.. se colapsa al instante en el iPad Pro.. por lo demás una excelente App!!

Useful. I’m not a big gear head, and do mostly acoustic stuff, but I do appreciate good sounds of any nature, that are expressive. Simple to use, works with Cubasis, easy to tweak.

Get This!. Out of the hundreds of synth apps you are looking through, this one is a MUST HAVE! You will probably thank me later, but just promise to write a review here for the AudioKit Team!

What a blast. This sent is a blast. It reminds me of digital sense in the 80s and 90s. Developer did a good job sampling. Having two layers reminds me of the Roland D50. The arpeggiate are even allows you to switch between layer one or layer two or both.

This synth rules. A lot of great presets to start from and a very deep pallet of colors through effects and filters. I’ve been using this synth everyday since I got it. If I had to have just one synth, this is the one I choose. Thank you.

Amazing, more than you’ll ever need. That right. I said it. You’ll just have to throw out all those expensive apps and get this one because it’s everything you’ll ever need or your synth systems.

D1 ROCKS. Harkens back to the heyday of awesome synthesizers. Love the strength and clarity of the tones. I foresee spending hours at a time searching thru the amazing variety of options. Wrote a song in the first thirty minutes I had it on my IPad. Simply exceptional. Out of the dozens of synths I’ve tried, this is my fave.

Beautiful. Love at first sight!. I’ve used this for...let’s see....3 minutes. That was all I needed to rate this. If it does nothing except play the presets, it is worth every penny and a lot more. Expressive, beautiful, and laced out so even I can understand.

D1. A wonderful sounding app with inspiring sounds! I’ve only made it through a couple of the banks so far, but I’m impressed (and as I said, inspired) by what I’ve heard thus far! Keep up the outstanding work! ✌🏻😎🎹🌞🌴

WORTH IT!. Solid piece of gear. Sounds huge! Takes me back to my childhood. My father was a musician, and brought home one of the first DX7s. I used to sit for hours at the kitchen table, giant headphones on my 11 year old head, listening to the presets wondering how they did it. Bravo!

The midas touch!. Everything these developers make is pute shiny gold! I can’t even decide which of their three synths i love the most. They are all absolutely excellent and are all amongst my most favorite synths on iOS. Every iOS musican should have all of their apps!

D 50 dreams. I wanted a D50 so bad in 86/87. Cant stand the DX 7, so I skip those sounds. Regardless, Im very pleased. Love being able to build my own sounds with Osc and samples combined. Great tones. Started with Synth One, wanted to contribute, open source is the answer! was happy to find sine wave form on D1 as SynthOne doesn't have it. Great Job

Sounds Great But ... This is real buggy crashing GarageBand and the pop up for notifications should be deleted from your app .. it crashes every time it pops up ..Synth does not load after closing a song , it tries to find the synth then crashes...really disappointing, cause it does sound really nice

😩😩😩😩. I absolutely love the sounds coming out of D1 but I’m using it in BeatMaker3 and just playing around, showcasing sounds everything works great but when I record and play it back, some random notes won’t play. It will just mute random notes here and there. Please help AudioKit!!! I really love this. Other than that I would give it 5 Stars. Help please!!!!

Update fixed sound. After patch I did today, I’m able to hear sound again. Thank you!

A few issues. I just tried out the app for a little while and so far it sounds cool but I have a few issues. 1. Whenever I use my external sequencer (MPC) to sequence the app the preset always revert back to preset number 1 2. I occasionally get static sounds whenever I play fast. It may be operator error. I’ll test some

Buy this! Digital D1 is making awesome sauce!. Man, this is nice. I don’t really comment on much of anything but this very well built app is a must have. It will sometimes get stuck on a sound but only if you’re sitting there pounding on each effect. Super Duper!

Standout in crowded field. Not only is the Audiokit story a good one for the community but the technology is fueling outstanding apps like this one. I am jaded after seeing synth upon synth released to ios market. This is a standout though. Well designed and it sounds great!

Not working on my iPad 9 gen plz update. Great app but both this and the audio kit 2 are not working here. Tried a couple emails and no response . No sound coming out. Sometimes one or two patch’s does come out sound otherwise is mute. All other apps are working they way it should. Please help me gaining access to this again

Mind Expanding. You only have yourself to blame if you can’t find the sounds in your mind that will make interesting nuances in your music

Not a penny wasted!. There’s nothing I hate more then buying an iOS synth that gets good reviews only to open it and wish I would’ve used my money at Mc Donald’s instead! ( I don’t eat their food 😂) this synth sounds amazing! Worth every penny!

Get it!. This is a must have synth! It’s absolutely jampacked with interesting high quality sounds. This far exceeded my expectations. Bravo to the developers. They’ve insured I’ll purchase any future products

Crashes on my M1 16gb ram iPad. I absolutely love this synth when using BeatMaker 3 but it crashes way too much. Also the sound won’t load when I open a session to continue a beat, very annoying. It’s been like this on my 2018 iPad Pro as well for a very long time and still no fix smh.

Another Beautiful Instrument. AudioKit has indeed done it again with D-1. In my estimation, it rivals Korg’s Wavestation, another of my favorites. I look forward to hearing what other talented sound designers can add to its already generous number of patches. Thank you to all who participated in its creation, especially M. M. Fecher.

IAA Doesn't Work on iPad Pro 2015 (First Generation). I bought this because I needed an app that uses IAA to play my hardware keyboard instrument. GarageBand won't even try to open it, just says IAA is unavailable at this time. Tried switching the settings around with recommendations for older devices, restarting, clearing apps, etc. I see some warning about iPad 4, please add a warning for older iPad Pros if this is also the case. :(

Just Amazing. This app is just amazing the sounds it create are so full, it’s beyond cinematic. One thing I really do admire about this app is that the sounds don’t just sell electronically. They are beautifully expressive.

Excellent. This is an excellent synth. It is packed full of quality sounds. The 300 presets are highly playable and usable. There are many lush pads. I would say it’s mostly geared towards pads as I’ve seen so far. I’ve played a few good leads too. The designer sounds are incredible too.

The One I’ve been waiting for!. Honestly I’ve been looking for an IOS synth that could emulate the D50 feeling. You all nailed it plus much more! I’m very glad that you put this synth out. Really fun and addictive, a big help too!

Crash. I been using this app for couple of days with an Yamaha psr e453 I love he sounds but if I use it with midi keyboard after 5 seconds I’m using it and the app crash will be happy to know what could be the problem

Better than a D-50. 10 minutes with this app, and I knew I was ready to part ways with my Roland D-05 (a D-50 remake). This app is easier to program, and sounds amazing! For the price, you can’t go wrong. Amazing job, Developers!

You Are the Star. Make beats and sounds like your favorite hip hop artists. The app does take a little time to get used too. But once you do you won’t be putting down Digital D1

EXCELLENT!. & it’s my birthday too ...the tuning capabilities alone make this priceless/ why other developers don’t support scala tunings is beyond my comprehension ( either it’s too difficult or they don’t atone” the true purpose of music creation ) again:beautiful work & a wonderful gift

Buy this app now.. Just purchased it and wow...this is a new step in the future of mobile music production..such an awesome sound....I love it...auv3 support is going to make this app a must have for 2019. Thanks developers..keep up the good work

Beautiful. I guarantee this will be a ‘no regret’ app. The sounds are awesome (300+ presets). They move—they’re lush and have have texture. Hold a chord for 30 seconds and you’ll hear layers of goodness. D1 was created by an indie developer, and you can feel that creative passion with every note you play.

Sounds are great...performance is HORRIBLE. I use this program in BeatMaker 3, and the sounds are AMAZING !!! But, when I am recording in the program the sounds go in and out and the sounds don’t save properly when i am trying to come back to a project that i have already started

Fine work!. Beautiful design, superb sound, highest level of responsiveness & accountability. We could not ask for more—though we might anyway. Thanks to all!

"May Be Some Bugs" — Crash on Startup — FIXED!!! :-). Supposed to be compatible with 32-bit devices (e.g., iPad 4) running iOS 10.x – not so, previously...until the July 4th update, declaring its independence from crashing on startup. ;-) Great job fixing issue, AudioKit!

AardEVark. This is as good, maybe even better than the other apps that I have gotten from you. All serve me really well. I enjoy them. They are simply great. THANKS!!

Great synth as long as the iPad stays awake.. Great synth unit, just won’t keep the iPad awake even with that setting turned on. I have to run another synth app in the background on an unused MIDI channel to keep the iPad from falling asleep.

Amazing sounds. Amazing sounds but app skips notes on playback. Please fix as I am a paying supporter. I am rooting for you guys but I hope this is something that can be fixed especially for us users who use d1 with BeatMaker 3. It even exports with missing notes :(

My GOD! What the hell is this?. I mean seriously? Super surprised with the sound quality. It made me addicted to synth and pad. I’m super lazy to explore so many sounds but I can’t stop playing and browsing the sound bank this app has. A big thumbs up! Kudos to the developers. God bless.

Extraordinary Sounds. This app is amazing and has sounds that are out of this world. Don’t hesitate because you are going to drool with the sounds. Keep the good work and keep the presets coming. This app should get the app of the year award. It is really that good

Needs MPE support. Great synth great sounds but would sound spiritual with MPE support. That would open up so many possibilities using these great sounds. To me it’s not a supprise this is the #1 music app here and in so many countries because the sounds are that good. Please help with MPE support and thanks for a great synth.

If only. I love this app, unfortunately it constantly crashes even after doing everything as far as settings, iOS being up to date and rebooting iPad.. soooo frustrating is the fact that support does not reply or help. I know these apps don’t cost that much but paying any amount for something you can’t use and is amazing is almost cruel. Thanks Audiokit

Your go to synth for sure. Such a simple to use synth with gorgeous awesome sounds and patches galore. This has gone from just another synth to the synth to have hands down the number one synth in my book thanks so much for your inspiring work

Sounds fantastic. This synth has the standard set of analog synth parameters with the amazing addition of pcm sounds. This app makes it easy to achieve a wide variety of sonic diversity that isn’t available on other synthesizers.

Fantastic. It’s interesting that this app does not set out to emulate any particular 80’s synth but rather it shows what the 80’s synths would have been with today’s hardware and software resources. It takes the older synths to school. On top of that, the clarity of the layout and editing are so well thought out that you can start making quality new sounds right away. Most important though, it sounds awesome. Apps like this are a reason to own an iPad.

Awesome Sounds. I have been collecting synths for a while. I really love the first synth these guys did, the free one. Synth One. This one here is worth every cent and much more. It sounds like a Roland D50 and some DX 7 rolled into one - but updated and even better. The D1 is now my favorite. I would only go outside of it for one or two favorite sounds on Synth One, and Garage Band for the Rhodes patch. UPDATE 10/7: I’m taking one star way because some of my favorite patches have disappeared. What happened to the Moog patches? There may be others missing as well.

Top rated pure excellence.. This is sure to be my main new workhorse on iOS. The sounds are super high quality with a legendary feel. There’s a wide variety and the user interface is quite inviting. Very happy with this purchase.

Awesome app. I have bought some of the music apps and this is just as good as them. There are a lot of great sounds. Keep up the great work devs and I am looking forward to seeing future projects from you all.

The 80’s Rocked. This is one of my favorite synths on iOS. My music never left the 80’s and I’m finally able to record all of it thanks to this and other great synths made available on my iPad Pro. Works great with Auria Pro, Cubasis and everything else.

My God, It’s Beautiful.. I imagine the money I used to have to spend to get sounds this fresh, fun and professional, that I cannot believe what I get here for the price. Absolutely stunning. It’s my new favorite synth.
