SharkClean Comments & Reviews 2026
Shark IQ Self-Empty is nothing more than a glorified random pattern robot. Shark IQ Self-Empty is nothing more than a glorified random pattern robot due to the lack of robot/app connectivity. We have strong WiFi signal throughout our house. When the robot is running, the WiFi indicator on the robot indicates it is receiving strong signal. However, the app constantly loses connectivity with the Shark IQ and is therefore impossible to monitor and control. What good is the schedule feature if the app can’t communicate with the robot? Every time the robot returns to the dock (if it can even find it) connectivity is lost with the app shortly thereafter- even if I have the phone directly beside it! In addition, the robot has NEVER been able to navigate to a selected room as advertised. Until the app is able to maintain connection with the robot, the Shark IQ falls way short of expectations. Updates have not improved connectivity issues. WiFi light on robot still shuts off while charging and connectivity with app is lost - rendering the the robot useless. We cannot schedule anything nor can we start the robot from another location. The only way we can reconnect with the robot is to remove it from the dock/shut off/replace on dock. What’s the point? Robot falls way short of advertised capabilities. I see no alternative but to return the Shark.
Difficult to customize. The vacmop itself works great! But the app needs some work. Every time the app updates, my maps are changed. With this most recent update, my carpet zones have all shifted to the right by about a foot. I spent a lot of time on the carpet zones for some large, oddly-shaped rugs, so it’s not that easy to just shift them over a foot back to where they should be. Two updates ago, my robot stopped cleaning my master bedroom when it’s included in a room selection. If I’m cleaning the whole house, it cleans the master. But if it’s selected with a few other rooms, the robot will either skip it or just not even start cleaning at all! When I de-select the master, it will clean the other rooms I’ve chosen. And since I literally spent hours customizing my map, I don’t want to reset it— especially if every update is going to mess it up again! I also dislike this most recent update because I cannot change my zones to a different type. For example, I have a kitchen rug that sometimes I remove for mopping and sometimes I do not remove it. So it is set up as a carpet zone. If I do remove the rug and wish for the robot to mop there, I have to delete my zone and then re-create it if I leave the rug in place. Sounds simple, but I have to screenshot my phone so I remember the exact dimensions, and then can look at the picture I took to estimate the location of the rug -not simple. Before this update, I could re-label the rug as a high traffic zone and the robot would mop there. I would like a feature to hide a zone or something so I don’t have to start from scratch each time I want to add a rug back in. The history map also does not work right. It does not show a complete map of the rooms cleaned. But half the time it just tells me “your map isn’t available” - frustrating.
Works but could be better. So far the vacuum is OK. The app needs some major work. I would like to see the ability to schedule certain rooms for certain days or times, and the ability to do multiple maps and floors. I wish I could tell it to vacuum in certain directions as well. I created a ‘room’ for a certain area within a room so that I could tell it to go clean that area specifically. We have birds and they are messy, which is why I got the vacuum. Being able to label areas within rooms or ‘go zones’ would be helpful but I guess the room layering will work for now. Have only run the vacuum twice and it mapped pretty well. It took a while for the map and the option to clean certain rooms to show up though. One worry I had was that it would just push seed shells and feathers around rather than pick them up. So far it has done a pretty good job, although there is some air output that makes really loose feathers fly away. Definitely glad for the empty bin as she picks up a lot of stuff. It’s good at resuming after emptying, but not after returning to charge. I assumed it would just automatically go clean once it was charged but it hasn’t. I think if you tell it to clean it will go back to where it stopped though. Time will tell if this is a worthwhile investment.
Map doesn't update over time, & clean room doesn't work. I want to start by saying that I haven't tried the clean room feature in a while, so I honestly don't know if it's still messed up. But whenever I used to try to tell it to clean a specific room, it ended up cleaning several other rooms instead. Sometimes it would clean the entire house, even though I selected a specific room. I recently moved the robot to a new location, so I cleared the map and let it start again from the new location. In order to see the cleaning history and other settings when I went back into the app, it gave me the robot's first impression map and said it will continue to improve as it continues to clean the home. But it only gave me two options to continue: delete or approve. I couldn't access any other settings until I chose one (why?!). So I approved it. Then the next day it cleaned the entire house, and showed a good map in the cleaning history, but when I went to check on the "map," it still had the first impression. I waited until the next day for it to clean again, and the "map" was still stuck with the first impression even though the cleaning history showed a good map.
connected. mine connected initially, dropped and then would not reconnect no matter what i did. then i called tech support and the following got me connected and it has worked perfectly ever since...(1) made sure my phone was using the latest ios (2) turned off my cellular data (3) selected “forget” on my wifi connection on my phone...then reconnected (4) presses doc and spot to put vac into setup mode (5) clicked on the vac in my wifi setting to connect to it (6) when redirected to the yellow colored screen in the app clicked “done”....do not select the wifi at this point - this is where the problem is- you have to click “done” and select the wifi connection and enter your password later. (7) clicked add robot in app (8) selected the wifi to connect to (9) walked through the rest of the setup steps and named the vac (10) waited on the app to connect and....Presto, it was connected and has not lost its connection since. Of course, you can turn your cellular data back on after this. So, try this or call tech support. They were awesome, very nice, knowledgeable and patient.
PLEASE UPDATE THE APP FOR 5 STARS.... to have more than one schedule time!! We love Bruce!!!. We have had Bruce Shark IQ Self Emptiing... (Shark’s name from Nemo...”hi Bruce”) since May 2020 and it took a little while to map the house but once it was set he was golden. He can be a little loud but it’s a vacuum so who cares. Only issue I have is we have a Lab who sheds 2 more of herself a day. It says it doesn’t clog but nearly every time it goes to empty it’s clogged and we have to cut the hairs off of the roll. My main issue is we groom her (brush her daily and bathe her weekly) but she still leaves a whole new lab on our hardwood floors (we have dark floors and she is a yellow lab) I mean that is good so we can see if it’s being picked up and not having guests coming over and us thinking it’s clean when it’s not... so as far as Bruce goes he does his job. As far as the App goes it drives me bonkers you can only set one schedule... I personally would like one in the morning afternoon and at night or at least in the late morning or evening... please add this option to the app please. Thanks so much! The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is due to the app being behind. Other robots have more than one scheduled time you can place on your robot for when you just don’t want to have to think about it which is the point. I don’t think it would clog if it was cleaning more than once a day.
Basic scheduling functionality. I wish the scheduling was more advanced. As of the current version the scheduling consists of picking the day of the week and time you’d like the robot to vacuum (and only once a day…why not give the ability to schedule multiple cleanings on the same day???). The robot has the ability to clean specific rooms as well as adjust its power level but none of these can be configured as part of a schedule. It would be so much better to be able to schedule the robot to clean specific rooms on certain days with a selected power level. For example, on Mondays and Wednesdays vacuum the whole house at low power in order to extend battery run time but on Tuesdays and Thursdays clean the living room and bedroom at maximum power. Another feature I’d like to see would be a “mapping mode” where the robot simply explores the house to create a map but does not actually vacuum. I’ve had to reset the maps in my house several times and it’s a hassle to have to wait for the robot to recharge and/or empty the dust bin before it completes the mapping. If it would simply create the map without vacuuming the battery would last much longer and it would be a lot quieter. Finally, the app should incorporate a way to tell the robot to clean a specific room on the fly. Right now I can only tell the robot to clean a certain room if it is on the dock. If the robot is in the process of cleaning but I want it to move to a specific room I have to tell the robot to go to the dock, wait for it to get there, and then finally tell it to go clean a specific room. Why not allow the user to interrupt the current vacuum cycle and direct the robot to a specific area?
Great vac!. We recently installed luxury vinyl plank on our entire first floor. We have 2 cats and a dog. Between pet hair, cat litter, and every day dirt, the Shark does a great job keeping up on the vacuuming. I have it scheduled to clean the entire first floor at 8am every day and then just the room with the litter box at 4pm. Mapping took 2 days and is working good for me. I’ve had about one month now. I’ve been too curious to wait and see if it can go 30 days without emptying. I empty it about once a week but will probably let it go longer once curiosity subsides. 2 minors for me so far. 1 - twice now I’ve found the shark turned off next to a doorstop attached to baseboard. I’m not sure why there’s a power switch that could be pressed so easily. 2 - the Alexa integration needs some work. It took a while for me to figure out how to create an Alexa routine to automatically clean a specific room. It seems like it always wants to ask you which robot to use. After much searching online, I found how to do it. There’s an action called “custom”. I then write “alexa, tell {robot name} to clean laundry room”.
Horrid App!. The shark robot itself seems fine, but occasionally won’t connect. I still can’t get SharkClean to connect with Google Home or Google Assistant. It appears to link but every time the assistant turns it over to SharkClean, it says there is an error connecting. The fact that my house is one level and 2900 sf makes it a challenge. We setup in the middle of the house. So far, it’s done well over 25 routines in six days but I have yet to see the ability to use the map to designate rooms. The videos they show are ridiculously banal and vague. No where does it tell you that it takes return trips to empty and recharge then starts over. It has yet to do my entire house and usually starts in the same pattern so there are places yet to be seen. I’m such a neat vacuumer myself that I’m annoyed at how it misses corners and around large furniture that it can clearly go under! If you have a sleep number bed - BEWARE! It will try to go over your hoses under the bed. Use something to block it from going near them. 34 runs in 2900 sf in six days a no still no usable app. So I’ve had it a week and find it does a great job in high traffic areas and getting up dog hair and dust but I’m getting so frustrated over the app that it’s spoiling my enjoyment. PLEASE IMPROVE THIS BAD APP!!!!
Fix the wifi and provide a customer service email. We were very excited to purchased this robot vacuum after buying TWO Roombas and an off brand called iBob. They were all expensive and worked poorly. Paying for another big ticket robot seemed like a bad idea but the features sounded incredible including the self empty and app feature. The device did not disappoint. The vacuum cleans very well and docks with few issues. The only issues we have is too many obstacles for it to navigate but that is on us. Now let’s get to the app, or more precisely the joke shark clean refers to as their app. As others have claimed, the wifi set up is poor and the robot continues to drop from the wifi. I have reconnected it multiple times and spent half a day on the phone with shark clean customer service and my internet service provider. All to reverse everything once the robot still dropped off the wifi. Fix this! 85% of my house is automated and this device is my only issue. My router runs 5.0 and 2.4 simultaneously so it’s a shark clean issue. Also, how about a live chat or email for questions. I don’t need to sit on the phone for hours and speak to someone who has difficulty understanding me. (No, that is not racist. It’s a fact and it is frustrating.) this information should be written in an email but I can’t so I’m putting it here. let’s also mention the mapping. It is horrible. I should be able to mark the exact areas that are mapped and name them. I’ll review to five stars when my robot stays on wifi.
Needs some improvements. This app works well in a basic way, but there are several areas that need improvement. First, notifications are broken. I often get notified of old notifications. I clear them, but then they come back. The app will show notifications when none are present. Second, scheduling is not very advanced. All you can do is set one time for all days, and it assumes you will clean the whole area. This could be improved by allowing schedules for certain rooms, different times on different days, multiple times per day (to allow for individual room cleaning at different times). I would also like to set suction power. I want to clean my high traffic areas every day and on high suction with other rooms being cleaned at different times and at different suction. Third, it seems to start over as far as the progress indicator if it encounters any error. Fixing the error should just resume the progress. Fourth the map needs a lot of work. Being able to only create box’s for rooms and no go zones is very inflexible. I’d love to be able to draw a line for no-go, and being able to create shapes by stretching corners or even free-forming a design would be very helpful. Finally, create a suggestion option within the app so it could be improved.
The Worst Decision Ever!. I purchased the shark IQ over the roomba self emptying so I didn’t have to buy bags each time, I definitely regret doing so! At first it was great connected to the app everything worked wonderful and then an update happened and I couldn’t get the robot to ever reconnect. This happened maybe April? It is now almost July. I have spent countless hours with customer service and then they “escalate” the situation so someone else calls me. Well they call back at the most inconvenient times or don’t even bother to call back for 6 weeks!!! The customer service just switches you from one person to the another, literally repeating all the same steps you did with the previous person and giving all the same information over and over and over again! Super annoying! They literally have no solution they just keep you going in circles until you either return the item (if you still can) or you just bought a $500 product for none of the functions to actually work as they promise besides the actual vacuum itself (which I’ll say the vacuum is great) but I can get just as good of a quality with their competitors!!! I am so disappointed in this company and this app. Next thing they will tell me is it’s my internet provider. News flash I have had the same router and internet provider when I first got the vacuum in March and it worked great for a month, this is definitely on your end Shark! Either fix the issues people are having or I guess you’re going to lose another customer (which at this point it doesn’t seem like it bothers you).
My shark experience. I absolutely love my Shark robot vacuum. It is the third brand I tried. I was unhappy with the first two brands and I returned them both within a few weeks. One was cheaper and the other was more expensive thank my current one. This Shark vacuum is so much better than either. It accurately mapped my house and thoroughly covers all areas every time I run it. It returns to the docking station to empty and goes right back to pick up where it left off. When the battery is low it returns to recharge (about 3 hours) and again returns to finish the job. The other two had difficulty finding the docking station. The Shark always goes straight to it. The noise level is similar to the other two. Not too loud but noticeable. We can comfortably talk over it while it is running. The noise it makes when it empties is much louder but only lasts for a few seconds. There are a lot of features on the app, however, I haven’t had an opportunity to use most of them yet. My floors have never been cleaner and with no effort from me.
Bad WiFi Connectivity. We bought our Shark Ion Robot RV750 just over a year ago. I tried several times every day for about 3 months to get it connected to WiFi with no luck. I gave up and one day it connected on its own, finally... Then the newest update came out, disconnected it and again I can not get it to reconnect! We really love our little Rosie, she does a fantastic job in our farm house. She has no problem at all cleaning up after our dirty feet, dogs and 4 grandsons running in and out of the house from playing in the fields around us, but this WiFi issue is a big problem. We love and use the schedule option, but can’t without WiFi. It is also supposed to be voice controlled through our Google Home, but that doesn’t work either. It’s not a problem bending down to turn it on, but it’s a huge inconvenience with our busy schedule. I’ve performed all of the trouble shooting suggestions in the help section more times than I can count. I’ve searched and searched for a fix for these connectivity problems but nothing comes up and from what I’ve read in these reviews calling customer service is completely useless. If Shark see’s this review I would really appreciate some actual help and a fix for this long time on going problem!!
This app has some serious issues. I have been using this application for a few days now and it has some serious issues. First off there must be a load issue with the shark servers because I had the robot clean today and after I started the clean from the app the robot status just kept spinning. When I left the screen and went back it said the robot was ready to clean even though it was already cleaning. I realized that the app was not getting any information from the robot. I tried rebooting my phone rebooting the robot nothing. At no time was the robot Wi-Fi indicator even showing a Wi-Fi issue. Then I made the mistake of updating the app from 5.3.0 to 5.4.0. After that there was no improvement in the lack of connectivity and also I was no longer able to view some of my previous cleaning maps. I don’t understand why you combined history and scheduling. But it isn’t working. Around 7pm things started happening in the app as if it was catching up with events that had happened. Then around 8pm the app started showing that the robot was in the “Do not disturb time” even though the do not disturb time is set to 10pm to 6am. I played around with the do not disturb times and found that the app was 4 hours off. If I set do not disturb to 1am for the start time the robot status went back to ready to clean. If I set it back to 10pm even though the current time was 8pm it went back to do not disturb. Also, I don’t understand why you cannot get the scheduler to work for scheduling specific room cleaning and multiple times a day. The robot is a nice piece of equipment but this app is really really bad. Please spends some time and effort to fix this soon because I am ready to return this even though the robot hardware itself is excellent this app is really bringing the product down.
Shark AI robo vac. Easy to get out of box and minimal assembly. Pay attention to finding a spot for the homebase that is easily accessible and unobtrusive. App set up is fairly easy if you are used to using iPhone apps. They should give someone older than 75 a crack at directions and menu selections to make it more intuitive for those who didn’t grow up with an iPhone in their hand. That said I am 75 and I did it in honestly in about 15 minutes. Room designation and boundary set up and reassignment are not as intuitive, like above, and it needs to have an obvious cancel choice once you start vacuuming on the app itself. It really does do a good first run vacuuming in the areas mapped. Except for shoestrings and unavoidable wires, it moves around without issue. Even with two dogs, I have reduced my regular vacuuming to once a week just by running this every other day in high traffic areas. Compared to my daughter’s i-Rumba it is very quiet. (CR says the i-Rumba is better on heavy carpets, but the shark is better in corners, = on low carpet, hardwood floors and vinyl. They also say the shark is quieter. I agree ).
Awful mapping. Terrible support.. We’ve run our Shark IQ 33 times over 21 hours and the map of our house is still not finished and has been getting worse. The main problem is the robot goes to the same side of the house EVERY TIME. Not once has it went to the other side of the house first. The battery (even on eco mode) runs low before it makes it to the other side (all but 3-5 times) so the rooms that we need to clean the most never get mapped. I’ve gone as far as to remove most of the furniture in the side it goes to every time to help speed up the process, but still nothing. I’m not a programmer, but it baffles me as to why it doesn’t alternate the direction it searches in while mapping. Seems like common sense to me. I called Shark and the only option they gave me was to reset the map. 6 days of constantly baby sitting and having all the lights on in our house, running as often as possible, for nothing. I’d return immediately if I could, but we used gift cards and we don’t need $400 in store credit at bed bath and beyond. I can’t even tell if it cleans well because we have to run it in the lowest power mode so that it can attempt to map the house! So the actual cleaning may not be up to par, but I don’t know. I should’ve listened to all the negative reviews online. The software of this robot is excessively poor. The Roomba self emptying robots can’t possibly be this bad.
Best Floor Robot Vacuum I have owned.. I have owned several other brands of robot vacuums. The others constantly banged up the baseboards of my walls, needed constant supervision, and were a jumble with no specific method for complete coverage in floor cleaning. I had walked out on robots for the floor, and then along came the Sharp Matrix Robot Vacuum with its fantastic technology 📱 that left the others at the starting gates. This machine cleans 🛀 the house 🏠 effortlessly and effectively. It also created a beautiful map on the Sharp app on my iPhone or iPad so you can control all functions of the robot right from your cell phone or pad. You can clean the entire home regularly or have it clean a specific room. You can even tell it to avoid certain areas of your bungalow ( computer wires, etc,) and it will remember what is off limits 🚫. I found this product on an introductory sale at my local Costco. This Sharp Matrix Vacuum robot is an excellent product at a great price. In my opinion., it beats all the others, hands down. I would buy another one today if I did not already have this one. want to love it.. The latest update broke it!!!! Keeps asking me to approve my map and it says disconnected. Can’t get past approving my map. PLEASE FIX. The app now shows it has cleaned my entire house when all it is doing is going around the perimeter of rooms and returning to the base thinking it is done. Come on for this much money this thing needs to be better. Since the update I can’t ever connect to my robot. Constantly restarting. Please fix. Update: now the robot totally dies before even getting close to the room the dock is in. I have deleted my maps a second time and it just keeps cleaning the same room repeatedly. The app says the robot is at 100% but after cleaning doe 40 min that is completely inaccurate. So far not impressed with the mapping at all. It does 3 passes in a room and then goes into the next room and does about the same. It keeps going over the edge of my stairs and getting stuck. It also NEVER cleans and resumes in fact half the time it stops with 40% battery. Yes ALL the lights are on in my house and I have cleaned the sensors and gotten 0 help from support. Where it does vacuum it does great and gets under places that never get vacuumed. This needs to be fixed.
Cleans really well, but app could be so much better so easily. The mapping is a great idea, but it’s executed poorly. You are not able to edit the perimeter of the map at all. You can delete interior walls, but once you do, you can only add rectangular rooms. You can use the merge feature to add 90 degree turns, but once you merge them, it will enlarge the room by like 2x for no reason so you have to stretch it back to where it was… every time you want to make a wall turn. It’s practically unusable unless the robot runs the scan for the 20th time and actually does it close to perfect, because you are not going to be able to edit it. We ran the scan twice so far and the map had so many easily fixable mistakes that I wasn’t able to fix because it’s impossible to use the editing feature. This also ruins pretty much all the other features like setting zones and spot clean if you want to spot clean outside the map since the app won’t let you add that area unless you also scan the rest of your house again. All that being said, this thing cleaned our floors so well we could eat off them. Great robot design; bad app design.
It’s Decent. I live on a ranch with 8 horses, 3 dogs and a cat in a two story house. I spend most of my time vacuuming and mopping which is very time consuming. I decided to buy 2 shark self vacuuming system, one for upstairs and one downstairs. I have an open floor plan with hard wood floors and 2 big area rugs. I downloaded the app which was simple enough, then I sent it out to explore. The floor plan map was decent but a little hard to see specific areas to label “different” rooms. I was able to create rooms eventually but it’s not perfect and a pain in the a…. The vacuum cannot tell between rug and hardwood floor and mapping it is not easy to get it just right. The mop cycle gets about 5” of the rug on one side and doesn’t get close enough on the other side. I wish the program was easier to use when mapping where not to mop. Also, you have to put the mop head on when you want to mop and the feature does not empty when the dust collector bin is full so you have to empty it manually, which with technology being what it is now, I would think they would figure out a way to have it all in one. It gets stuck in tight spots so you have to put dining room chairs up on the table and bar stools up on the bar. I do not run it at night because the suction of the dust bin collector is very loud and wakes me up, also if it gets stuck on the cat condo base I’m not going to get up in the middle of the night to move it. All in all it does save me time even though I have to babysit it a lot.
SharkBaitOhAhAh. This vacuum has been amazing. I have a LOT of corners and crevices that it gets into and surprisingly gets back out! My main floor is about 2000sq ft of all hardwood floors and the vacuum runs for 75min to do the whole main floor. Against what I thought was my better judgement (because I knew there would be an impossible amount of hair to keep up with), I allowed my son to rescue a Husky. She is one of the sweetest rescues we’ve ever got to live with and because of this vacuum, I almost never see her hair around the house. It’s just amazing! During that 75min period, SharkBaitOhAhAh empties herself midway, but keeps them on going to get the rest. And the holding container holds enough that I only have to empty it every other full cycle. The only downside of these disc vacuums is the sound and why I rated 4 stars. They are a little loud so if I’m on a phone call, it’s a small inconvenience, but I will have to pause the session because the person on the other end can hear the motor going, similarly as you would if using any upright or handheld. Not a huge deal but would be a nice improvement on future models. I also have a Rumba disc vacuum for carpets that we use in the basement but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Shark brand. I will often have to pull out my Shark upright to finish what the Rumba missed. Shark Brand is the BEST!
This app and map feature is HORRIBLE!!!. I have had “Alice” for almost a week. She had a map that was almost accurate but every time I was prompted to accept or delete the map, I would click on “Approve” but the app was repeatedly non-responsive. I could find nothing on the FAQ, manual or online to help problem solve the issue. I tried to email customer service but the app kept telling me I needed to first enter my personal email in my phone, even though it is stored in both my phone and through my registration of the app/ linked product. I finally found where you could reset Alice to factory settings so I did that, uninstalled/reinstalled app. The online video shows that the robot will first “Explore” your home to get an initial map and includes screenshots. Neither time during set up did this part happen for me. It went straight to prompts for WiFi set up, explained briefly that mapping will take several cleans and then it prompts you to click “Clean”. I keep doing this but whenever I click “Clean” after it has docked, it starts again with my master bedroom and rarely gets to areas yet to be “cleaned.” I am happy with Shark vacuum quality having the stick vacuum, but if I have to spend so much time problem solving the app so I can create rooms to vacuum more frequently where my dogs are, then it’s not worth the high cost, right? I’ll return to change my app rating if/when it gets better, which I hope is SOONER rather than never.
Seriously??. I find it extremely hard to believe that this app has nearly 5 stars. This app is trash. It rarely controls my vacuum like it’s supposed to. The map feature and being able to instruct the vacuum to clean a specific area does not work. It literally never works. The app will show that the vacuum is docked when it’s actually cleaning. If it begins it’s second clean and I feel like it doesn’t need to I hit the dock on the app to end the clean but the vacuum just keeps going. The new feature where you’re supposed to be able to get more cleaning time out of your battery doesn’t even show up on this app. I have repeatedly tried to update the profile on this app and always get the message “something went wrong”. I have have the RV1001AE robot. My vacuum is pretty great. A little dumb sometimes like heading to the opposite end of the house when it’s dock light is flashing. And cleaning specific spaces repeatedly and other spaces halfway or only one time. Kind weird but it does the job no matter how oddly I think it gets it done. But the app to control just doesn’t work. I generally just press the button on the vacuum itself to get it started because the cleaning schedule doesn’t work on here either. People please stop writing your reviews for the vacuum on here! Your review of the vacuum goes on the shark website. Review the actual app on here….this isn’t that hard. I really like Shark products but this app needs an overhaul.
Love It!!!. So I built a house back in 2018 moved in in 2019 but iRobo… I didn’t use it all the time it never went back to its port. It died after three years of barely getting used. I tried to fix it to no avail so I just used my standup vacuum cleaner. We always had right then I decided to look into another one to just have it vacuum with three puppies and a few cats, no I’m not the cat lady! Oh My Goodness!!! I love the shark it picks up hair and I had no idea with a brand new rug. That’s like indoor outdoor and a fairly new rug, but I’ve had it a year… How much hair this thing picks up I just let it go and go and go. It doesn’t get all caught up and everything. It just hits it and makes a way to turn around. It doesn’t get Cord caught in. It doesn’t get caught in it. Your shoes, etc. etc. etc.. I need to take it upstairs because I took the carpet away so it can go under the bed because it does get the floor as well as rugs. It’s fabulous and at the end you push go back to port and it finds its way home highly recommend it. I’ve only had it a month, but I do highly recommend it.
First days with Shark IQ. The first cleaning is a bit trying as we learn the capabilities of this robot. We have many pets, so the initial clean was full of many alerts as the sensors would get obstructed or the roller would jam. The second full clean went much better and with the third, we had a good map that allowed us to choose rooms. Very nice feature. Challenges for us: The bin fills pretty quickly and fur tends to resist being evacuated by the canister vacuum. I’ve been tracking customer feedback and have seen the firmware in the robot has improved greatly over this past year. That says a lot for this company. Additional future recommendations for Shark IQ Development would be: 1) Allow more time sections for returning for emptying. 30 minutes may not be often enough for our home. 2) The ability to schedule rooms for cleaning. Some rooms need daily cleaning, others do not. It would also help with the collecting too much debris. 3) Mapped “keep out” locations. The mapped rooms work well so perhaps there may be enough resolution of this as well. Overall pleased with product and hopeful of additional software updates.
Waste of Time and Money. I purchased the Shark Ion Robot V750 series back in March ‘23, and there have been so many wrong things with this robot. First, I’ve spent hours of my life just trying to get the Robot to connect to the WiFi. The initial setup was a nightmare. The instructions didn’t match the version I purchased. Then when I FINALLY figured out how to activate the WiFi function, it wouldn’t connect to the WiFi. I had to call customer support and it took them DAYS to get my Shark connected to my online account. I couldn’t do this through the app. There was also a “mapping” feature advertised on the box, but that’s not a feature I can access. My Robot doesn’t map out anything. It slowly moves randomly around the house bumping into things hoping to sweep up the debris. I can’t fully register in the app because there isn’t a “United States” option so I can’t enter my address or phone number. Finally, we recently changed WiFi providers and when I went to connect my Shark to the new network and nothing I do works. The app goes through the motions and says the Shark is connected successfully, but when the whole process is over, there still isn’t a connection. I’ve only had the Robot 9 months and, needless to say, both the vacuum and app are garbage. Don’t waste your time or money!!!
Great when it actually connects. Vaccum cleans well, really helps me keep the floors clean from sand debris and dog hair. But I’m constantly having to manually hit the button on the vacuum and then it just randomly cleans around the house with no rhyme or reason. You can only select the rooms when you do that through the app. Here’s the problem, the app rarely wants to connect. The app connects well for a few weeks and then just stops working for months on end, regardless of app updates ect. It Can’t find my robot at all currently; going on 3 weeks. There’s plenty of times I just need it to go cleana specific room not run crazy around the house cleaning, docking to empty, recharging and coming back to clean doing the whole house all except doing the one room I needed done most actually done last. I’m not sure if the actual software problem is from the app or if it’s from the hardware inside the robot itself. I’ve had this thing a couple years and will not buy another shark robot after this experience. It’s now a running joke that there’s times I just have to delete it all and register my vacuum as if it’s new to get it to work properly. My vacuum is now named the number 10 because it’s the 10th time I’ve had to reinstall it since I bought it to get it to show up. That’s 10 times that I have successfully reinstalled it, that doesn’t include the probably 30 other times I’ve tried to reinstall it but it doesn’t work because it will say the Wi-Fi password is wrong. The Wi-Fi password is not wrong I am making sure it’s entered properly.
Make sure it works before release!. My Shark was FINALLY performing pretty much as it should, after receiving the latest firmware. Then it began doing things never before experienced, and not doing others, such as providing the history of each (daily) operation. This is very inconvenient and annoying as it is not possible to see where the vacuum swept during the routine. Also, we have it set to recharge and resume due to the large area to be cleaned. Just before the app update and after the firmware update, the unit would sweep until the battery level was well below 50% before returning to the base. Now, it stops at one hour, usually with 80 - 85% remaining, recharges, then cleans for another hour and stops, no matter how much area is covered. Lately it seems to resweep many places and completely skip others, but never the same from one day to another. Again, it’s hard to be sure without the history. This is by observation and by any debris remaining on the floor. (If it sweeps an area it gets the debris!) When this unit works correctly it is a joy, however I have had to contact customer service so often recently that I’m about to throw in the towel and switch brands. It would be a shame if it were due to poor programming of an app that completely destroyed the usefulness of the product! Check these out BEFORE release rather than trying to clean up the mistakes after upsetting your customers!
Fix History. So the history is finally working and we got a map! We always run our robot vacuum mid morning/day…but suddenly we are starting to get an error message about lighting, which results in no map. We haven’t changed any lighting in the 2 years we have had the robot which ran perfectly in the past with no lighting error message. Something changed…fix it, guys! ——————————————— It seems as though you have created an endless cycle of dead ends when trying to reach out to you. I also noticed the lack of developer’s response to users reporting app issues. If the president of Shark is any good, he will read these reviews and get the app fixed or replaced by the current developer or get a new developer. Since the last update, I have called several times only to be told the problem must be on my end. Deleting robots, apps and reinstalling on other devices didn’t work so finally we were told that my robot(s) needed a firmware update. We couldn’t use the robots for 48 hours to do this, but no luck. Oh…and for the 3rd time now the promise that someone from app support will call me hasn’t happened…not once. The history still doesn’t work…you get a white screen that freezes the app. You would think that after weeks of this app not functioning properly, you would go back to a version that worked instead of frustrating your paying customers. All you are doing is losing them. I own 2 self evacuating shark ion robot vacuums. I buy a new one every year. I used to tell people to buy shark instead of Roomba. Guess what…going to buy an iRobot this year. You have lost me as a customer. Sad because the robot vacuum by itself is a good product. But the convenience of the app that operates the robot is crap, so it makes it all useless. I should not have to follow the robot around the house to check its’ work.
Good. The app is good for the most part. There is room for improvement. Right now I am not liking this latest update. From the app, if I choose clean the entire house, it doesn’t receive the command. I can however choose individual rooms for it to clean from the app. Before the update, I could choose clean the entire house and it would work. Now I just select some of the rooms and later choose the rest or I just go to the dock and press the clean button on top of the robot. I like how the app lets you know what time it started cleaning and what time it docked. My robot likes to dock itself at 40% and then continue cleaning after a few hours. That is annoying but not an app problem. I wish the app would show me where it left off so I knew which part of the house had been vacuumed. It would be nice to see from 11:00-11:30 it cleaned the bathroom, docked to empty, resumed cleaning in the living room, docked for three hours. I would know how much was left to clean. I have to wait until it has cleaned everything before it will show that it did clean it. Also I sometimes forget to pick a mode. I prefer the highest setting for the best suction. It defaults to normal mode. It would be nice although not necessary, if I could set it to always be on the highest setting. Really the fact that a robot is vacuuming my house and the fact that I have an app on my phone to tell it to clean is just amazing. I know the technology will continue to improve. Overall I am really pleased. I would and have recommended this product and am excited to have an app.
robot worked great for 1 year. robot worked great for one year. Now everytime I open the app it says 80% battery. Cleaning will resume after charged this may take up to 3 hours. It never goes away even after several days of not running the vaccume. It doesn't allow you tp run the vaccume except by pushing the button manually on the unit, so I can no longer matrix clean areas in my house. I tried finding an email address for support but all there is is a phone number. I don't think there is anything wrong with my vaccume, I think there is something wrong with the iphone app itself. I noticed the interface keeps changing with updates and there are more settings available than when I bought the vaccume and the app runs slower and it no longer usable. Its like the screens are frozen and not working and load slowly. I tried deleting the app and redownloading but it didn't help. I don't want to delete my maps and recreate them because I'm worried it will just be stuck on that 3 hour charge lock screen forever. I have reccomended this vaccume to lots of people but unfortunately it isn't working due to the app.
Worst Vacuum & App. I would give zero stars if I could. The app is terrible, constantly deletes my rooms, impossible to get help through the support. It makes you choose your robot for help, but mine isn’t even on the options list? The robot itself is even more trash. Misses so much, I specifically got one for corners, so of course it misses the corners the worst. Also, I can’t figure out what even the point of setting up the rooms is..? because they mean nothing to the robot. If I try to keep it from going into certain rooms, it still does. If I try to make it clean one certain room, it’ll still clean others. When I just let it do the whole house, it will do half a room at a time so it barely finishes one before moving onto a whole other room, by the time it gets back to the second half of a room, the first half is already dirty again. There is also no point for the mapping system, because it doesn’t even fully map my house and will forcibly rent itself into my furniture, repeatedly. It has scratched up most of my furniture, and if I had real wood floors, those would be scratched too. The most ridiculous vacuum, I should quite frankly sue for the price. The astronomical price tag seems even more outrageous seeing as it can’t do a single thing it’s advertised to do. I will never again buy Shark anything, because even the first regular vacuum I bought from Shark has a battery life of about three seconds. It takes five charges to clean my house, it is not a large house. Horrid products.
Bad app, bad robot. I have had many different brands of floor vacuum robot and i can say without a doubt This app and robot suuuuck. You cannot track the live location of the robot in the app, it never remembers settings for suction and power, voice, notification or even the name of the machine! The area to keep free of anything around the base is so huge the robot doesn’t work correctly, the single arm side sweep brushes are terrible and leave debris behind. The side brushes work so poorly that i customized them to have three sweeps myself. The robot regularly gets lost and/or stuck. The “updates” have done nothing to fix any issues in the app or bot. It sweeps stuff into corners it can’t reach. The robot cannot get over any small foot rugs or carpets and will push them around the room. The robot is also very inefficient and regularly vacuums the same area over and over and over and will go from one end of the house to the other to vacuum for one minute then go back to the other side of the house. The robot cannot see some obstacles because of their height and the height of the laser so it will try very hard to push those things out of the way regardless of bumper activation. Pushing pet food dishes around the room or trying to push a quilt rack or a chair or whatever… As long as you modify the side sweep brushes and turn the suction up to high, every single time it comes on, pick up any mats or rugs from everywhere, and have a completely bare floor, this machine works just okay. I do not recommend this robot or any of its similar cousins. It’s frustrating and poorly supported.
Its a miracle and a blessing. We are a working couple, and weekend is packed with cleaning, washing, arranging and scheduling. It used to get overwhelming. We were a bit apprehensive before investing in shark cleaning and mopping robot but we were advised by some friends to buy the robot since they had a great experience. Fortunately, we could get a $200 off deal and we decided to take the risk. Surprisingly, Shark gives you satisfaction guarantee, meaning, you can use the Shark 2-in-1 matrix clean robot for three months and return it if not satisfied. I am glad that I invested in the Shark 2-in-1 matrix clean, I am completely satisfied. It keeps its promise, what is even better is that there are different modes that you could use, it also cleans the corners. When you use matrix clean or spot clean, its amusing to see how it goes above and beyond to make sure that area is absolutely clean. Now our house gets cleaned every day and I reserve my weekends for family activities and for some deep cleaning projects. I would recommend this product without a doubt.
Ignores keep-out areas - Can’t just update the map, have to clear all house floors to remap. It hasn’t deleted my saved rooms since the last update, but it still completely ignores areas added for keep-out. I can make half of the house a keep-out area and it will still ignore it. I tried remapping the home and then redrawing, but it’s like it holds onto the old map. It’s such a pain because you can’t just update the map, it requires you to clear the entire house’s floor to redo a map every time to troubleshoot. Older issue, not sure if fixed: Not sure if it’s the updates or just when I get logged out and back in, but I have to remap my house every month it seems. When I select individual rooms, it seems to ignore and just run a schedule or random area. The room deletion when versions get upgraded may have been fixed but we’ll have to wait. After resetting and going back to the dock, it helps, but instead of going to the rooms, it searches the entire home before it gets there. Either way, someone needs to fix whatever bugs exist with handling rooms. Update: Even though it no longer deletes my saved rooms, it no longer acknowledges that they exist when selected. Even if I put it in that room selected and close the door, it tries to get out and won’t clean the room.
Time-saving thoughts. Make sure you read this before buying the robot. It may save you time in the future. The app is constantly facing performance issues. In my experience, for over the year, it takes 30 – 60 seconds from the time I launch the app and start cleaning. To perform the next action (like pause cleaning or start the next one after the previous one has been completed), I usually re-open the app because it’s simply not responding to the user's actions. The app randomly may sign you out (usually, it happens several times a month), so you have to log in again. Moreover, it cannot use stored credentials in Apple Passwords, so you should expect to remember them and type manually. After one year, they haven’t managed to implement scheduling per room. So, the scheduling feature for a big house doesn’t make sense at all. The battery capacity has dropped significantly. It has become impossible to vacuum a large bedroom and bathroom in a single run without recharging. The bigger pieces are stuck between the robot and the base and must be manually removed to continue usage. The dev team, I think you’ve got a list of bugs to fix for the next month. I look forward to the updates! Thank you!
Great so far. I’ve had the robot for about 4 days now and so far it’s been great. I had a hiccup the first day because the bin got clogged and had to be manually removed. However I gave it the benefit of doubt simply because my floors at the time were atrocious. The vacuum mapped the house on the second go which I found to be great and now with scheduling I’ll be able to keep the floors clean enough so it doesn’t get clogged again. I rate for 4 stars because there are some features on the app that I’d really like to see. First I’d like see the scheduling be more flexible as far as being able to choose which rooms are to be cleaned. I know this issue has been brought up so hopefully the developers are listening in this one. The second thing I’d like to see is permanent choices such as vacuum strength always being on max. I shouldn’t have to always go into the app to change the vacuum settings it should be something that’s done automatically based on user preference otherwise that defeats the purpose of setting a schedule and being done with it. I just feel the robot does a much better job picking up the finer material on the ground when on max and battery life shouldn’t be an excuse on a robot that can charge and resume. I really hope the developers take these request seriously because so far I’m loving it and I know it can be so much better!
Helen Keller. We love our shark but it does at times lie to us. The history map sometimes does not reflect what she had actually done during a cleaning cycle. Sometimes she acts lost and has difficulty finding the docking station. The docking is positioned according to the instructions and we have never moved it, but she will eventually find the docking station. We have a complete map and named the various rooms. I did not over tax the program by naming every single room. Instead I have four areas that were names, master bedroom (bedroom and bathroom), kitchen (kitchen and dining room), living room (living room and foyer)and den (den and extra bedroom). If I indicate to have the master cleaned, the shark will head to the dining room. It’s as if she disregards the cleaning instructions. Because of her actions we have named her Helen Keller (Helen for short). Aside from that we are happy with Helen’s performance. It actually cleans the floors and carpeted areas. I have run my upright Shark vacuum over areas Helen had just cleaned just to see what she missed. To my surprise she misses very little. Very impressive considering her size and being completely blind at times. I’m looking forward to any and all updates. Hopefully Helen will do better and rid herself of the dark colored shades and cane.
Breaks with EVERY update. This would honestly be a great app IF it didn’t break with EVERY update. I love the features this app gives you. It creates a map that you can then give room labels and label zones that you don’t want it to go into. Labeling rooms allows you to tell it to clean or avoid individual rooms. Labeling no go zones allows you to make it avoid fragile things or avoid areas that it gets stuck. I spent a lot of time setting up these zones, watching it clean, and continually making adjustments to get it down to the inch. You can also create a schedule for it to clean certain days and times. I love all this, and I’d give it 5 stars easily if it worked like intended…BUT it doesn’t. EVERY time it updates, it erases my room labels and it erases my no go zones. This is already infuriating given the amount of time I spent setting them up down to the inch, but since I’m having it avoid certain fragile items like guitar stands or certain areas where it gets stuck, it potentially can cause real damage. If it cleans and I’m not home, and the no go zones are no longer labeled, it could completely tip over my guitars or whatever else. I’ve been lucky that it gets stuck before ever getting to these areas. The map (without labels) still seems intact after updates, however, the shark seems to get dumber. Like the app still has the map but the shark seems like it has to recreate it…because after a few runs it starts getting smarter with where it cleans. After updates, it will literally go into one room for a minute, then travel to another for a minute, then back to the first room for a minute, then to a third room. It’s more than likely relearning the house. Whoever is coding the app needs to figure out how to process updates without affecting the labels and map is all I’m saying and I can’t give it more than 2 stars until that happens.
Experience. My shark has become very convenient. Before bed, I have my children clean up and pick up all small items. Then when everyone’s asleep I walk around opening the doors and making sure all items are picked up. Once the shark has been set to know the house, it’s pretty easy to use. So, I set it to clean once everyone’s asleep and I’ve done a thorough check. One thing I must say, it doesn’t complete my house in one battery charge. It has to go back and charge for some hours and then resume cleaning. And it’s gotten stuck in my daughter’s room twice and the bathroom once. Lol. I’ve had to go find it and remove the barriers and follow it back to the dock to recharge because it’ll kill its entire battery trying to remove itself from being stuck. It’s like a child lol. Other than that and the battery life I completely love it. It does the patterns on the floor. If you can handle the bumping and noise because it literally bumps into everything lol and the suction isn’t quiet then it’s a completely great purchase. I haven’t had any other issues besides the ones named above. Thank God.
Impressed!. Read several reviews prior to ordering. So far this robot has performed as expected or better. We previously owned a Roomba, which was more expensive than this model. In comparison the Shark IQ is super quiet. The self emptying bin is great. We have two dogs and three cats. There is always hair even right after we vacuum. It empties at least three times every time we use it. I run it daily. I have not setup a schedule yet, hesitant to allow the dogs to be in the same area as I’m afraid it might become an expensive chew toy. Maybe down the road, for this works for us. There were several complaints about mapping the house, ours created an accurate map by the second run. I thought it was weird that it is recommended to turn lights on. After further investigation it is explained the robot uses optical sensors and the lights allows better accuracy. This could be why people are having issues with the mapping, not sure. At first we laughed thinking it was afraid of the dark. Running this once daily does a better job than vacuuming every other day. With the pet hair I empty the bin about every three days, this really is not an inconvenience as we don’t have physically vacuum. This was a great purchase for us. At the present time we have been using it for two weeks. One more note: if you’re not paying attention it may startle you when it returns to the base and empties. That is a little loud but only last for like 5-10 seconds. Not an issue. For the complaints about the robot being too loud, they have obviously not tried the competition. The Shark IQ is super quiet in comparison for us. Hope this helps anyone with their questions if you are hesitant to purchase. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised and happy with the purchase.
Software not very good. Robot cleans rooms not selected. Select one room and it cleans another. No scale available for dividing rooms. Cannot accurately place room dividers cannot drag a room divider over to adjust you have to start over dividing the room by merging rooms losing any precision on where to draw the replacement divider. Software prohibits you from creating small rooms just to place the divider properly so you can delete the inaccurate one to get it right. It’s all trial and error even after it’s set. Robot changes the path to said room every time it travels there. Cannot adjust the size or shape of the spot clean feature. As good as it all should be the application is inferior to its publicized functionality. The robot itself vacuums great and mops great. The base functionality is impressive. Hence the extra star. I wouldn’t buy another one however. Light years of app development are required. It’s frustrating and I can sweep and mop and be done vs fiddling with the software every single cleaning. It took 30 minutes to get the robot to go to the right room and still not sure why it finally decided to work. It’s not a happy trade off. I wouldn’t buy another. I would rather sell it if somebody was interested but I wouldn’t blame them for not wanting one. Very disappointed. Thought we had waited long enough for the tech to work. Must have been really bad with prior generations.
Pretty darn good. It’s amazing because I don’t have to pull the “real” vacuum out of the closet very often. It is amazing because I get to see how much dirt and dog hair it cleans up when I empty the container (which is super satisfying). I will say that it seems to have no rhyme or reason to the rooms it chooses or the vacuum pattern that it takes, but it seems to do a pretty good job. Overall it is definitely worth the money. The battery life isn’t super great (about 1-1-1/2 hrs) but for anyone in a single story home it’s fine and after charging for a couple of hours, it picks right back up. I wish it had a setting where you could take it upstairs and map that area of your home, but it doesn’t. You would have to buy another unit. We have two Australian Shepard dogs and they shed constantly. Our home is much less “crunchy” and “fuzzy” since we bought the Shark. My favorite part is probably the app. I can map out my downstairs and remotely tell it what specific rooms need cleaning. Pretty awesome. Good job Shark. Maybe work on the level of suction and add options for how it cleans the room. Example: diagonal, horizontal, multi-pass mode, deep clean mode, etc. I’m a happy customer. Thanks y’all
Good - with minor issues. I find this product does a reasonable job with a couple of frustrating exceptions. First- it has trouble evacuating an item the size of a single piece of dog food. This is VERY annoying. Several times a week it errors out and quits its routine because a piece of dog food gets stuck in its dust bin. The solution is that I have to clear it out -simple of course- but can get slightly messy, then it has to recognize that the problem is solved- sometimes requires a few return trips to the dock, and of course the house was not fully cleaned. Only to happen the next day as well. No matter how I prep the area, it seems to find one stray piece. My dog is apparently a messy eater. Second- it often detects that the dust been is not installed. Errors out as above. This is also frustrating because the dust been seems to be securely installed - so again, trial and error and several trips back to the dock before it runs again. Third - for some reason the app quit alerting me of these errors so that I can fix them quickly. Sometimes I don’t realize there is an error until I notice the dust on my floor. I will try reloading the app, but just another annoyance. Overall - I like the performance of this bot when it runs. These issues are minor. Still WAY better then vacuuming or sweeping .
App has some issues. The app works okay most of the time but it does have some issues that are annoying. It would be nice if you could set the mode (vacuum power level) and keep it instead of having to reset it to your preferred mode on every cleaning cycle. It kind of takes away from the convenience of having a cleaning schedule. The other issue I see with the app is with the notifications. First of all I have them turned off, and they still come through, which is a problem. Second, I delete and/or clear there notifications and they continually pop up, for days to weeks after I have already cleared them. I should not be receiving notifications from last week telling me that the Shark can’t clean because the dust bin has been removed. I delete them and they continually pop up while the Shark is actively cleaning. The vacuum itself is great, works really well for my needs, and I have 2 hairy dogs. The mapping seems to work well and the history feature on the app is nice so you can see what areas the Shark may have missed each day. I would rate the app a lot higher if it weren’t for the annoyances I noted, that seem like they should be easily corrected.
App misses the mark. I am pretty happy with the vacuum, but the app is frustrating. The most frustrating thing is that when something goes wrong, the vacuum will announce the problem, but even on max volume, it is difficult to hear unless you are near the unit. I wish the app would have some sort of audible notification that there is a problem and would allow you to read what the unit just said. I can be unaware the the unit is stuck and have wasted time where I thought it was vacuuming. Sometimes, when I tell it to do several rooms, but not the whole house, it will just do one room and go back to the dock and empty the tank. I have to reprogram it to do the rest of the rooms, which it may do all or do one and go back to the dock. This causes the vacuum to use more water and (expensive) solution than it needs. Another really frustrating issue is that it will not allow you to make more than one map. My home has more than one floor. I would love to finish one floor, pick it up and move it to another floor and tell the app to use the other map. That seems like an easy thing to add considering how expensive the unit it.
Generally Working as Expected. About everything is as you would expect for a smart vacuum that maps and allow selection of certain areas you want to clean. Biggest issue I have is that we rarely keep all of the furniture in exactly the same spots and you can’t have it remap particular areas in the event there is a major change. For example I move my couches and chairs in my living room and in order to get it to accurately clean my living room I have to remap my entire house even if no other rooms changed. Seems the same is true if you want to move the base. Would be nice if you could move it in the real world, reposition it in the app accordingly, and based on the known floor plan and the approximate new location in the app it would know where the dock has been relocated. This is the most major issue I have with the vacuum/app. It would be ideal that you could also have multiple floor plans to allow use across multiple floors as well. Shouldn’t have to remap everything, have it run around without a plan, or have to buy multiple just because you have more than floor in your house.
Hire new programmers!!!. First it took several tries to get this device to connect to the app even though there was a pop up to join the Shark device Wi-Fi. Then it didn’t want to join the Wi-Fi at home. Finally got past that. Whew. Then I went to register the device. What a challenge. I work in IT and was finally able to find a work around. When you go to register it sends you an email to confirm the email address and account. Should be pretty simple but this link took you back to the App Store. When you click open in the app stairs it takes you to the app but doesn’t take the account verification, instead it won’t let you log in because you have to register your account. This sends you another email so you just get an endless loop (the first thing they teach you to avoid when you learn programming). The work around was to register the account on their website. Of course when verified it said the password was wrong so then it sent an email to reset the password. Seriously guys, get new programmers. So my next step was to enable the Alexa skill. Hahahaha. Good luck with that. You get the log in and enter your information only to get a bad gateway error. There is no way to get past this. The partnership with Alexa was one of my reasons for purchasing this device. PLEASE GET NEW PROGRAMMERS!!!! I haven’t used the device yet but this review is for the App.
Very frustrated — stopped working. Robot vacuum worked great. Bought it in December 2024. Had some issues getting stuck on a floor vent every now and then but nothing awful. However, it stopped working in March 2025. I had a schedule set to clean the whole house MWF, and all of a sudden the vacuum started to just clean one room and it would decide it’s done cleaning and return to dock. Even if I manually told it to clean every room in the house, the vacuum would clean at most one room and it would immediately go back to dock, sending me the mission complete report as if it thought the whole house was cleaned. No matter how many times I try to force it to clean multiple rooms, it only runs for like 5 minutes at most and then does the beep like it’s going to dock itself. Eventually I tried resetting to factory settings, redownloading the app, restarting router, using a different phone to control, using the buttons on the vacuum itself — I feel like I’ve tried everything. Now I’m at the point where I need it to do the initial map of the house and it won’t even do that. It will map maybe one room and it goes back to the dock. I can’t even get this thing to run for more than 5 minutes before it gives up and goes back to dock. I feel like I wasted my money buying this. I’ve reset it multiple times and nothing works. Wouldn’t recommend

Temperamental. Was working great for the first month or two but now I’m completely unable to log in or use the app
Worst application. Never gets connected to the wifi always errors out during registration

Shark robovac. I have had the shark ninja for the past 5 years and it is a great vacuum. I have two cats ans it helps keep my main floor of the house tidy! Highly recommend this product!
Sharky. I love it
NEED MULTIPLE FLOORS OPTION!!!. Great app except you cannot create maps for different floor levels in your home. HUGE disadvantage compared to other companies that have this feature. Developers at Shark Ninja should work on upgrading the app ASAP. It could be the main difference between someone buying their robot vacuum or their competitors.
Good app, robot vaccum needs improvement. A software update would do the trick, but the robot tend to get stuck places and she can have difficulty navigating the floor
Had it for several years and still works great. I bought this from Costco several years ago and had very few issues with it. I run it 3 times a week, and clean it every 3 weeks or more often if my lab is shedding. The only issue I have is that I can’t see my list of notifications within the app. I can only see the pop up if I happen to be using my device when the alert comes up. Barring that issue, I’m very happy with this robot vacuum, it’s been well worth the money.
Shark review (vacuum / mop style). Absolutely incredible machine! User friendly!! Great suction. I keep taking videos of it working haha I’m so impressed ! We named ours Martha ( as in Martha Stewart!)! and we couldn’t imagine life without her!! She is quiet and gets our entire 2000 square foot main floor done in 95 minutes!! If you are on the fence about purchasing one please believe me when I tell you that you will NOT regret your purchase one bit!!
Poor app. Not user friendly. When setting up the map there is not any clipping between rooms ( so room lines overlap ) marking out no go zones or carpet zones is VERY frustrating. You get it off by 1 inch and have to go back and edit the map and it moves over way to much. Then you have to repeat to process of having the vacuum come to the carpet/no go zone and back to the dock until you get it perfect. Which takes A LOT of time that I don’t have because I purchased this so I didn’t have to spend the time cleaning my floors. This robot has the ability to map the home it should be able to map the carpets. If you want to move the dock even a foot you have to redo the whole mapping process. My vacuum mop allowed me to change the levels of vacuuming and mopping, but the mopping levels has completely disappeared off the app and I get very little mopping done. Should have returned and purchased something else. I wouldn’t purchase a shark robot product again, and I do not recommend to anyone.
Love the ‘bot! The app… it’s complicated.. The app is more than serviceable (mapping, scheduling and vacuum intensities are great) but the lack of support for (or strategic refusal to integrate with) Apple’s HomeKit, shortcuts or plain (dum*) Siri is BAFFLING. Yes, I tried the Alexa app to enable voice commands. Verdict : utter trash. So I’ll ask again: why turn my phone into a glorified remote via this app?
App doesn’t recognize a Canadian postal code. So the app doesn’t recognize a Canadian postal code when you want to create your profile and I was never able to get the wifi to connect to the robot.
Loving my shark ninja. I absolutely love my shark. It does a pretty good job. I love that. I can put it on the main floor to do its cleaning and I can go upstairs and not feel like I’m alone cleaning, I feel that I have help. The only thing I wish it could do is to map multiple floors so I can carry it from level to level and let it do its thing.
Would give it -3 stars if I could. The entire Shark experience hasn’t been pleasant. There are known motherboard design flaws and a high failure rate with Shark’s robot vacuums and the company does nothing to address it. Be prepared for your vacuum to stop working after 1-2 years. I had it happen to me and a friend did too. We bought our vacuums at the same time and it was a 100% failure rate. Shark offered 25% off a new vacuum which was very upsetting and speaks to how little they stand behind their product. The app does not work the way it’s supposed to. Compared to the Roborock app the mapping, connectivity, and reliability is world’s apart. Shark does not make a good product.
What's wrong with the app?. I can't login to my account, it's constantly throwing me back into login page! I've been trying to login for 2 days straight!! Fix this garbage!
Sections. Merci
Happy with it. I have been using my Shark Vacuum for over a year now and am happy with it. My only complaint is that it isn’t very efficient so it does take a long time. But if I plan for that in advance it is great that I can be doing something else.
After using it for about one year, I can’t use it anymore. After open the app, it keeps flashing, cannot find my vacuum. And it is very hard to get help from support. Now I have no idea what to do, maybe throw it away and find a different band
Power On/Off. There is no power on/off option for the robot in the app. If robot is managed by the app, and all of the features are available then why not add power on/off option in the app too? It seems very silly to turn off the robot from the power button on the robot it self, especially for someone who has physical limitations . If you are providing an app to your product user then they should be able to control the power options too via that very app. Turning off the power when not in use will save the battery life and energy overall. I hope “ no power options” in the app is not by design.
Cleaning. Excellent
Love it!. I named my Shark ‘Max’, because he’s a good boy! He’s smart too! I’ve never had an issue and the app is user friendly. Easy setup.
Junk. This app is Junk people don’t buy this vacuum the app is junk
Postal code. Please fix the issue with Canadian postal code because it says not valid address when I try to register the product. I think I Can’t connect to wifi for this reason
no home app support. down rating until it’s added! 🙃
Mixed Review. It’s work great I did not like that their customer services and charge for shipping for needed parts within warranty period Machine function and quality is super great with no issues, very little expensive if maintain well
Issues with notifications. I never receive any notifications that my shark is stuck or stopped. I have tried everything to fix issue but it is still not resolved. Constantly having to go looking to put the machine back on dock as it has no battery left by the time i locate it
Shark is great. As a divorced man , I am finding it difficult to justify a new relationship now, lol! Just kidding. I do love how moch time it saves me doing vacuuming. Just make sure your floor are clear, it loves electrical cords!
Mr Roboto & Judy Jetson. We have one running on upstairs and one on main floor. Does an incredible job at keeping the dust away. They have lasted for >1 year compared to my old one and really help. I love the app! I can see how much they covered and deploy them at scheduled times so as not to freak out our dog. We love our little vacuums. Great for daily maintenance for busy working Mums.
Love It. This thing is the best thing since sliced bread. I set it for 3 days a week and it does a wonderful job.
This update was garbage. This app update is terrible. Saved data like the model number and serial number disappear.
Pretty good!. I would love to see a map on the app.
Glitchy and frustrating.. Keeps deleting the map and losing the vacuum information. Reinstalling takes multiple efforts. My only option is to use the clean button but sometimes I want it to go to a certain area and not the whole floor. Giant pain. Wish I’d known before I bought.
Worst product ever. Dont buy this garbage. You pay a too high price for what you get in return…. Buy something else
Shark. Love that you can program each room .,
Maps. Any chance we can get multiple floors for maps? Otherwise 5 out of 5.
can’t stand this app. so buggy. they need to QA.
Happy robot Bonnie. I would just like to say this is an excellent product. Does it have hiccups once in a while absolutely but normally after I reboot it so far, it goes back to normal. I’m quite satisfied with my Shark robot.
Excellent. Very exceptional... Easy navigation and surprisingly, it worked as far as 50km away .
Always logs you out and hardly ever connects to the vacuum. App ALWAYS is logged out when you need to use it. Stupid dock and vacuum are in the same room as the router and still loses connection. Other devices can easily connect outside of the house and in the street even. Too bad the fools that made the app and backend weren’t nearly as skilled as the people that made the hardware. Get rid of the app team and start fresh
Adult fun toy. This one is fun to watch and it helps to clean but can not do many things. The program still needs work as it does not clean where curtains are and pushes shoes across floor
Time saver. Definitely a must have for a busy schedule. Sweeps and mops with precision. I recommend ordering extra wash pads. I change them at least 3 times for cleaner floors. I highly recommend the robot vacuum/floor washing robot. It is cheaper then a cleaning service.
Good App with One Giant Irritation. The app works well for mapping your home and managing the robot. However, the issue that it faces is that setting the schedule is a nightmare. When you rotate the dial to your preferred hour, minute or AM/PM, it immediately reverts to the current time. Even if you can hold things down before it elastics back to the current time, the schedule isn’t always preserved. This needs to be fixed!
Used to work. Ever since the march update the vacuum loses connection constantly and now will not connect at all. Vacuum works great the APP not so much.
App Issues and Vacuum Problems. Things that are problems, need to be fixed/added: 1) Make No Go Zones work. I Have No Go Zones defined but our shark will not honour the No Go Zones defined. 2) Allow me to select Rooms in Scheduling. Can not specify which rooms to clean in the schedule setup...it is All or Nothing. 3) Allow for multiple maps/save existing as a new name. One with zones and one with no zones. Allow me to pick which map to use when sending unit to clean and in Scheduling. 4) If No Go Zones worked...allow me to name those and choose whether to honour or ignore the zone when sending unit out to clean. Or allow the multiple maps as noted above so I can choose which map to use. 5) Allow for multiple floor mapping. 6) Unit gets very confused/lost regularly. If you send to a room(a) to clean...more often than not the unit will randomly move/bang around near home base for about 3-5 min before figuring out where to go. 50% of the time if you send the unit to say the Living Room on one end of the map the unit decides to go and clean a completely different room. 7) When you select “Clean” in the app it is supposed to prompt you if you want to clean the entire map/house or you can pick specific rooms. Quite often (50% of time) that prompt does not come up and it just starts cleaning. You then have to send unit back to the dock and try again. 8) Can send unit to clean specific room which it will do but many times will also go and clean another room and area as well at random. Bought the IQ XL unit in January. Will keep the unit for a little longer but if there is not an update ASAP that addresses honouring No Go, actually finding a room, and being able to schedule specific rooms then this goes back. I can go buy a “non-smart” unit for a fraction of the cost and have it work as well if not better than this! Definitely a unit/app with a low IQ. I have deleted and allowed the unit to map the floor many times but that does not make a difference. I always make sure I have the latest version of the application, I have contacted support more than once but they are not at all helpful and in most cases I know more than they do about their own product.
Wish more maps. App is easy to install and no bugs to report (i have been using it for 10 months). I wish it could store more than 1 map (for the main and upper floor).
Missing out. Smart robot easy to use app However the app is laggy sometimes takes forever to load The app futures very limited compared to other brands. The most annoying thing is once you saved the map the robot stop looking for new place like other bramds still looking for new places while cleaning and if found some the ad to the map. Als on schedule cleaning you can’t schedule individual rooms so you eother clean the entire house or not on schedule cleaning. Its not terrible but neither the best on the market.
No push notifications. Each time there is a new update I hope that I’ll finally start getting push notifications but I’ve had the vacuum for 6 months now and have yet to receive one. I’ve turned all the right settings on and off and on again but nothing. Please fix this issue!
Worst app. Scheduling interface does not work.. Scheduling keep defaulting to the current time and won’t let me change to a time I want. The rotary number buttons on the interface keeps changing back to the current time.
Highly disappointing. You need to light your home up like a runway for it to make a map that needs to be deleted because it never sees the entire place anyways. Forget trying to use it on more than one level of your house because if you take the robot somewhere it will wipe the map if you do a manual cleaning. There’s no where to seek help on the app and it forever needs to be signed into. Wish I would have bought a roomba.
Shark IQ map issues. It seems that after every update I have to wipe the app and the maps and start all over as the “Rooms” function is pretty much useless as you are not sure where the Robot is going to go. Mapping function ends up with truncated maps that leave you really confused (especially for no go zones) however the history will show a fairly decent map. Why that doesn’t show up to begin with is a mystery to me. Now that Apple has updated to IOS 26.4 there is no map, brilliant. The robot (we call our SharkIQ Bruce) works well after 4 years so it is a pretty solid unit, not the greatest fan of the software however.
Could be so much better. UI from the 70s. Unimaginative developers or constrained by lack of budget. Tell me why it’s returning to the dock. Is it just emptying? Charging? If it’s charging when will it continue? When I tell it to clean just one room ( which is tedious to set up) why does it clean all the rooms? Where did History go? Without that there’s no way to know what it actually cleaned.
App buggy. All of a sudden after owning this thing for at least a year, the unit tells me the dust bin needs to be emptied. Every. Time. The bin IS empty, there are zero blockages. This thing is useless. I found a post on Reddit from a year ago saying this was a known issue. But to date it hasn’t been fixed. The unit also ignores no-go zones which, from what I can tell is also just something everyone lives with. My Roomba was so much better, I regret switching.
Great unit. We saw this product during a trip to Costco. We thought it would be a good opportunity to have something to keep up on all the cat and dog hair around the floors. Wasn’t sure about the quality of this brand, so checked the online reviews and we were satisfied with giving it a try. So far we’ve had it for a week, and it is absolutely awesome to date. The set up was easy and the unit accurately mapped the entire floor. At first, I was disappointed to learn that you couldn’t map more than one floor. However, after taking the unit upstairs and just letting it do its thing, it did a thorough cleaning. Based on our short experience with this unit, so far, I would highly recommended it!

Great hardware, frustrating app – room cleaning still broken after years of trying. I really wanted to love this app since I adore my traditional Shark vacuums and was excited about the robot version. The vacuum itself picks up dirt well and has solid build quality, but the SharkClean app is holding it back big time and feels way behind competitors like iRobot or Eufy. The biggest ongoing issue is the advertised “clean specific rooms” feature. I carefully map my house, label the rooms, select just one or two specific rooms to clean, hit start… and then the robot leaves the dock and proceeds to vacuum the entire house anyway. It completely ignores the room selection every single time. I’ve tried remapping my house 4 or 5 times over the past couple of years, restarted the robot/app/base station countless times, fiddled with every setting I could find, ensured the map is up to date, and even contacted support—but nothing fixes it. This has been a persistent problem for me since I got the robot, and it defeats the whole point of having smart mapping and room-specific cleaning. Additionally, I can’t even update my email address in the app. When I try to save changes, it throws an error saying “try again later.” I’ve tried multiple times over days/weeks, on different networks, etc., and the same message keeps popping up. It’s basic account functionality that shouldn’t be this unreliable. Overall, the app feels laggy, unreliable, and outdated compared to other robot vacuum apps that handle room zoning, no-go zones, and schedules flawlessly. Shark needs to prioritize some serious updates to fix these core features—right now it’s disappointing and makes the robot far less convenient than it should be. Slightly bummed, as the vacuum hardware has real potential. Hopefully they finally push some meaningful fixes soon!
I am now a Sharkaholic. I love my Shark-robot-vacuum!! My first Shark was an upright; you know the one that cuts hair so it doesn’t wrap on the roller? Then I got a Shark hand vacuum- I love the intuition that is included with each design- It’s easy to operate, easy to dump the dirt and clean the filters! Then a few weeks ago I bought a Shark Steam/scrub mop - oh it is amazing!! I have parrots and they throw fruit and vegs on the floor with abandon. This scrub and steam gets it right off- such a labor saver! And now on Black Friday I ordered this robot- Sharkgard Butler is such a hard worker - I’ve set up two “no go” zones for phone charging areas - I love that I can ask it to clean extra in traffic areas like the hallway and that I can pick and choose which rooms I’d like cleaned. Super easy to set-up and again it is designed so you can dump the junk one-handed and without bags. Can’t say how much I am enjoying these 4 workhorses and how sparkling my floors are now!!
Great Vacuum, Excellent App Features, Map Needs Work. This vacuum does well in a large 2000 sq ft/ level house. We've purchased a second for the other floor. The empty and resume is excellent, but like charge and resume is a bit buggy. Our floor plan is not standard, and it is 75/25 on going back to the right place. The map feature needs a serious update. The fact that you can build in rooms is great. I went through and measured each room, and overlaid it on the map. Once you do that, however, it decreases those rooms to the map it has vice adjusting its map to account for the missed areas. For us this includes the hallway which leads back to the dock. So, every fifth run or so it gets lost in the master bedroom on the opposite side of the wall dock from the foyer and can't find it. I could not leave the robot alone cleaning during the months we are not here. Also, it's not really a "foyer," but you can't name rooms. There is quite a limited selection to pick from so the names that we have standardized throughout our smart home cannot be employed as used over our Alexa and mesh networks. Hopefully the next update solves these, then it would be a 4.5 star review.
Impressed with Sara. Got for my wife for Christmas and quite pleased. Sara does amazing job getting the hair left behind by 2 active Boxers and equally active cat who spends time wrestling with our male Boxer. They pay little attention to her now they know she doesn’t eat their food. Dust bin is near full every day she works. Gave up trying to get her to keep schedule on local time as she constantly reverted to default, so just adjusted schedule based on default time zone. Although programmed to clean 7 days, she sometimes doesn’t. Guessing it may be lost Wi-Fi connection? This is reason for loss of star. Also wish Notifications were pushed via email or text instead of having to check the app. We have lots of obstacles and I am amazed how seldom she gets stuck as long as we remember to pickup a couple of lightweight rugs at doorways. Would love to see a mapping feature to see exactly where and how she goes. I can envision getting more units as they improve to work other areas as our rooms aren’t connected via halls.
I can’t understand. I don’t understand how in the world this app is very so many positive reviews. Everyone I have met in person who owns a shark robot vacuum absolutely hate Shark. I have owned two. Shark IQ XL self emptying, that one I paid for. The second, was the same model but a replacement from Shark because the first one failed within a week of owning it. The second one worked well for the first two months and now it’s at it again. Either the robot or the app combination is completely crap! These robots can’t seem to hold on to a wifi signal. The robots are constantly falling off the signal rendering it completely dumb. These robots can’t follow app directions if not connected. I have done multiple reset and called customer support, which are HORRIBLE, that’s a different review! When I call them I have to wait 24 to 48 hours for a “engineer” to call me back. Took them 3 weeks and me calling twice a day to get a return call. It defeats the purpose buying one of these is you have to baby sit it since it won’t respond to my commands. I might as well use my upright (non Shark brand, thank goodness) stay away from these things, they are so poorly made, at least the software.
Appealing to the Eye but not User Experience. When I got my Shark I was pretty excited, just as I am about all technology that’s new to me. I’m an automation technician so this is especially profound to me, but this app ruined all of the fun. I’ve been trying to get this bot to connect to the app for 3 hours now, and between the app crashes & it simply not working, it’s really making me regret buying this bot. It seemed pretty dope to connect it to my Google Home, map out the whole house, & have routine cleaning to give me just a bit more time to do why I would like to do throughout the day, but that’s not what I’m getting. I contacted customer support & did the same thing that I’ve been doing for the past 3 hours, just for her to tell me she’s going to have to transfer me to someone higher up - TOMORROW. That’s sad. The bot itself is alright, but if you bought it with the intention to use the whole package, then lower your expectations. I’ll wait until I get through with this customer service call tomorrow to see if I actually enjoy this thing & update my ratings. But for now, I’ll just smh 🤦🏽♂️
Update. It’s been good, however ever since the last update the app has been bad. It no longer tracks times on the history for whatever reason, and continually freezes whenever you try to select individual rooms. Not sure what they claim they fixed with the last update, but the app now has issues when it didn’t before. Revert back to the old version, and this is a 4 or 5 star app. Hate how the downgrade update negatively effects trying to vacuum…………Update: after 3 months we got a new update, they gave the maps a nice facelift. However, they apparently did not find it important to fix the actual bugs they induced in the last update. The app will still do this odd thing where you can’t select individual rooms, until you toggle between rooms and the whole house, and they still haven’t restored the actual timeline that the history used to display. Not only that, but the update somehow shifted my map slightly so the rooms don’t line up with the outer border like they used to. This app was good 8 months ago, however their need to update it and “improve” it has only made it worse. The vacuum itself however is still good
Good but needs improvement. Would be great if you could : submit feedback about the app from within the app - if you could choose what order you want the robot to vacuum each room when it vacuums the whole house - if you could see the real time location of the robot if you can’t hear it anymore to make sure it is running and not stuck - if the actual model number was somewhere easy to obtain - seems like it’s nested within a larger more encompassing model. I would figure more updates would come down for the robot to get smarter as time went on, but I have not seen any. Why not? What about a “quiet mode” where it’s not so loudly bumping into walls and what not, in addition to quiet motor/suction? Bugs where I have to select spot, then rooms then spot then rooms before I can select anything other than the default room. Why not more options for scheduling different rooms for different times?
Shark vacuums. I have several Shark vacuums, the Rocket when I had carpet, the new Duo Clean which I got when we recently had hardwood floors installed, and now the Ion Robot, which my husband got me for Mother’s Day. I have been so impressed with the quality and affordability of all my Shark vacuums. Over the years I have had a number of more expensive vacuums and none of them measure up to the Shark vacuums I have back problems now and love the light weight and ease of use of the Shark vacuums. The Ion Robot has been especially helpful for me and does a very good job of cleaning my hardwood and tile floors. I only have to use my Duo Clean occasionally to get the few areas the robot can’t get to such as under the couch and large arm chairs. The Ion Robot cleans under my tables and even my beds! The Duo Clean is wonderful for tile and hardwood and I have been impressed how well it picks stuff up, down to even the dust on the floors. You can actually see where the vacuum has been run as you’re vacuuming because the dust is gone. I’m a Shark customer for life!
Great App; some issues, needs stronger features. The app works great, besides my maps looking like I drew them when I woke up in the middle of the night thinking of puppies and kittens. The app definitely needs stronger features, such as running devices on the same mode each time they run. Say if I wanted to run the vacuum on ECO at all times; especially since it runs daily and works amazingly (thank you shark IQ AutoEmpty). Wish that we had the availability to schedule the vacuum to run up to multiple times per day. The biggest drawback I’ve found with the app is that the features lack commonplace things that would be extremely easy to implement, such as it letting me know that it’s on an Evacuate and Resume/Recharge and Resume mode. Something to let you know that it’s going to finish the job, since the app doesn’t let you know. Biggest fear is that my dogs would happen to defecate on the floor and I think my vacuum won’t be on while I’m at work, then it makes a bigger mess than encouraged through Shark’s advertising; since Roomba already has that against them in multiple memes.
Good robot, terrible app. The functionality of the app is awful. We purchased for the ability to schedule rooms to clean daily. After more than 30 full house cleanings, it hadn’t mapped our home. Per support, we deleted the map and did a factory reset. We then did an additional 10 cleanings, but the robot was completely missing rooms of our home. We couldn’t schedule, cleanings, etc. Per support, another factory reset. Additional cleanings mapped the house within a handful of cleanings, but even when it would clean the whole house, it didn’t map some of the rooms. We decided to move forward with the map, hoping it would work itself out. We built out rooms, but still can’t schedule anything but an entire house cleaning. We can choose ad hoc cleaning to specific rooms (supports only resolution, which I think is crap) but it still ends up cleaning the entire house. We have another brand with comparable functionality and it far surpasses what Shark has been able to put out to date. But I love how the robot itself cleans. Emails to support do not get a response, and aside from recommending a factory reset, we are told our tickets are being escalated, but then there is never a response or resolution. I usually love Shark products, but this one needs a lot of work.
Shark Matrix. I recently bought the shark matrix and it has been a little over 2 weeks, and I’m amazed at how well it’s keeping my house clean. I have a corgi who sheds like crazy and was tired of having to vacuum up myself every day which is what pushed me to buy a shark robot vacuum. After watching many reviews, and it being on sale I finally bought one. For the price I paid it is perfect. I also love that it comes with a bag less self emptying base which was another factor in choosing this model. The house mapping feature could use a little more work though, but it’s pretty accurate for the most part. I like that I can designate certain no go points to avoid certain obstacles that would otherwise make the vacuum get stuck or mess something up around the house. I also wish I could map out another floor in the house. Maybe in a future update they will allow that, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. I highly recommend this model to anyone looking to keep their home free or dust and pet hair.
Feature additions could make this a GREAT product. I just got my Shark IQ XL yesterday and like it a lot! It mapped my house very well in only 3 sessions, and picked up more debris than I expected! The runtime is longer than expected (more than 90 mins) and it’s fairly quiet (Much quieter than a tradition vacuum). That said, I do have some App/Firmware update recommendations: Allow schedules cleaning of only certain rooms (my whole house doesn’t need to be cleaned each time! Would love to clean just the kitchen and laundry room daily and the rest of the house weekly) Add contextual granularity to the app when the robot is returning to dock. Right now I’m clueless as to what it’s doing - does it need to empty its dust bin? Is the battery low? Will it auto resume where it left off? Sell a stand-alone base station that the robot can use as an alternate (remote?) “dock location”. This would allow me to put a base station on each floor of my house and rotate the vacuum to multiple floors, while still allowing for intelligent mapping and as-need charging ect.
Vacuum is great, App and Customer Service not so much. Love this vacuum! I’m constantly disturbed by how much dirt/dust it picks up on every trip. The app, however, has major flaws! You can’t schedule rooms to be cleaned, has to be the entire house. It’s takes forever to map the home and can take several tries (even days due to draining the battery) to get it right. I’ve had the app randomly delete rooms which force me to go through the painful re-map process. The recent app update not only deleted rooms, but also has created an issue with selecting/cleaning rooms. I used to be able to select multiple rooms to clean in one trip. Now that does nothing, it just gets stuck on “communicating”. I now can only tell it to clean one room at a time. I called to report these issues and the girl was quick to pass me off to someone else (instead of hearing me out fully) then I got stuck on hold. I hung up and am posting this review instead. Buyer beware, the vacuum is great but comes with a lot of frustrations.
Love it!!!!. We got The Shark robot after a friend who has it raved about it. She uses Alexa with hers. I’m happier using an app which I keep on my control panel on my iPhone. During its ‘learning process’, I chose to remap some parts of the map, so I could really target high traffic areas more easily as an add-on to a room, like drawing my hallway and laundry room as one room for example, since they’re next to each other. Once it mapped the house, I actually didn’t need to have lights on— even in the evening! I got it mostly because we have some large area rugs which always causes back pain to vacuum. Kind of wished I had gotten the silver one after the fact, because it’s still a bit unnerving to almost run into it coming around a curve when I’m not expecting it, like a giant black bug coming after me (too many horror movies), but frankly didn’t feel it was worth the added price for the silver at the time. I scheduled it to do a whole house clean while we were on vacation for a week, and frankly it was AMAZING to take my shoes off after unloading the car and have a spotless floor and not feel grit on my bare feet! AND, once all my stuff was put away, I chose for it to clean the front entryway! I use the single room feature a lot for higher traffic areas. It would be great if the software could be improved so a schedule screen came up with both the whole house option and the single room option, i.e., being able to have a primary and secondary cleaning schedule, so some individual rooms like the kitchen or family room could be done daily, while the whole house which is on a different screen, could be done weekly. Either way, I highly recommend this!
Budget, friendly, some problems. I like this vacuum so far. I’ve only been on day two. I had an Ecovac And I really enjoyed it. I ran it into the ground having so many cats. I bought the shark because I could not afford it. I was hoping maybe I could find something economic and useful for what I needed. This filled satisfied. The only issue I think I have with it is the ease of getting out the debris. There’s a little bit of a lip that cleans the brush (which is a plus!) And it’s hard to get the debris over the top of it with cat hair holding it in place. But oh Lord, that’s nice to have. The main issue I have is with the software. Just like other robot it creates a map. This one is not so user-friendly. It doesn’t satisfy its own borders, you have to create them. And if you’re off by a little bit, it will go from one room to another room to try to continue cleaning to where you said, even though you may not want that room, cleaned at that time. I do like the matrix function. Make sure you get every single inch of your room. That was lacking it even in my other robot the materials flimsy, but flimsy. Seems like they were satisfying weight requirements and I believe they succeeded Battery life is a little short. Just from vacuuming you could jump down 30 to 40% on one room. Don’t expect clean a large area of a home and all one take like you would with other robot vacuums. Other than that good choice.
Power Level?. Why can’t you set it to always be at max power level? I have a small house and don’t need to worry about the battery. I have it set to clean while I sleep but it’s always just set to normal power. Only way I can get it to go to max is when it’s cleaning I have to open the app and manually switch it. It wouldn’t be hard to have a setting in the app so you can always have it clean at max power. There are plenty other bugs with this app I don’t feel like listing but it’s actually really bad. 90% of the time I can’t even hit the button to stop or start it I have to do it manually because when it’s not docked it says it is and when it’s cleaning it says it’s docked. This whole app is crap and so is the $200 vacuum it’s constantly getting stuck on imaginary stuff and gets tons of errors. It’s almost a daily thing I’ll wake up and have to search the house to find it and put it back on the charger because it got “stuck” on something and then the battery died. I would never ever buy another shark again it’s been a horrible experience for my first robo vac that I’ve been wanting for years and finally splurged on…
App needs some work. LOVE my Shark Matrix Clean 2in1, so I reduced my rating -1 because the app is not intuitive and lacks some features and needs others modified. 1. Please add the ability to change the device time. When the power goes out, the vacuum looses all sense of time and I’ve not found a location to change just the current time. 2. If the app needs to be deleted and reloaded, please save the map & settings for my device. When you need to update a setting (such as the time or when you add/remove a rug) it requires a full removal of the device and reload and thus apply all the settings again like new. In full disclosure I haven’t provided ALL the registration info (why would you need my address, phone # for the device to work), but I have downloaded the app and do like the ability to schedule cleaning days/times and to see the map of what my device cleaned (route/path). This vacuum is pretty accurate. I also appreciate that it cleans in a linear pattern vs pinball wizard mode.
Not connecting?!?!!. I love the robot itself. But I bought this one in particular because if it’s good reviews and app control. I set it to clean on the days that I would like for it to clean. It’s cleaning on those days but the app says that it’s not connected. But it still cleaning on the correct days/times. But I can’t check the status of my robot because the app says it’s not connected. So when It got stuck the other day I did not know. Because according to my app didn’t even clean. My husband was home and said it did.. I have deleted and reinstalled the app & the robot multiple times. Only to find out an hour later it says it’s lost connectivity. So my vacuum leaves the dock to clean at scheduled times but never turns back to the dock. It’s a little annoying that it says it’s not connected yet the Wi-Fi signal on my vacuum is lit up and my Wi-Fi around my house is very strong. But the app says there’s no connectivity??! The shark can’t clean on the schedule if there’s no Wi-Fi connectivity. So I’m a little confused as to why the app says there’s no connectivity but my vac is still cleaning on schedule. I get no updates or status on my robot because the app says it’s not connected yet it’s moving on my house cleaning as I write this review.
Run far away from this company.. I’ve had NONESTOP issues with my vacuum and connectivity. Shark customer service is no help whatsoever. For all the issues I’m having, with only this one product, they had the audacity to tell me that I needed to get a second router primarily just for my vacuum. That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Even though every other object in my home has no issues whatsoever connecting to my Wi-Fi/internet and keeping a consistent connection, this does, and they first blamed it on my service, they said that I keep losing internet (keep in mind I don’t lose Internet on any other device connected, and I even went as far as calling the Internet company out to double check my connection) when I reached out after having my internet checked, they then blamed it on the router. Lord if this isn’t poor customer service then I don’t know what is. I’ve now had the vacuum for four months, and they refused to send me one that will work with this app. They also refused to refund me for the vacuum, she even said that they do not stand behind their product, they will only replace it if there’s something wrong with it, but she said that this doesn’t constitute something wrong since it’s on my end,and they don’t offer returns. Even though I have exhausted all options and even reached out to my internet provider, it’s apparently my fault for buying a product from a company that doesn’t stand behind their product. Before ending my final call with customer service, I mentioned that I’m very disappointed the company does not stand behind their product. She giggled and told me good bye. So for anybody out there that wants to save themselves any sort of headaches, or a potentially horrible customer service experience. I recommend staying far away from this app, this company, and every single one of their products.
Love Vacuum, hate app. The vacuum is hands down the best cleaning robot we’ve dealt with. The features of the bot work very well themselves, but the app that supports the robovac is beyond frustrating to say the least. It’s almost always frozen, and when it doesn’t freeze, it logs us out. And when it doesn’t do either of those things, it simply deletes our existence and we have to start over from scratch. The vacuum really is marvelous, but without a useful, supportive app, it makes directing its operation difficult, if not impossible. Further, if you register your bot, as we have, it doesn’t help you find your replacement parts in the shop. It would be really useful for registration to identify which bot you have, and for that to initiate a search in the shop for the parts specially designed for your machine. It’s a shame to have to guess if you don’t have a reference point, only to buy stuff you can’t use and is annoying to start a return/replacement process for.
Good, but a long way to go. The app is missing too many features. To begin with a digital alarm clock has more features for scheduling than this app. Zone/room scheduling is a must and needs to be implemented not only for the obvious benefits, but I have noticed that when scheduled, and since scheduling only allows the entire floor plan, the robot gets confused if part of the floor plan is blocked off, i.e. a door is closed, this creates major issues as the robot can do just about do anything once it’s confused, entering no go zones, not leaving areas, and even kicking its own dock around. Scheduling needs to be fixed ASAP, that’s the biggest issue I have. Please see Roborock if needed. Mapping is fairly accurate and it took a few runs to map the floor plan like I wanted to and the cleaning ability of the rv1000 is wonderful. Please provided the option to allow the map to continue evolving and add new areas. For now it’s a bit annoying to delete a well established map and redo it all over again just to add one other room. Luckily the mapping is good, but it still shouldn’t be the case. It’s also unfortunate that high traffic area zones aren’t available for the rv1000 model. I don’t know why it wouldn’t be. Also to have the options to increase suction in rooms and not just high traffic areas. The robot definitely has potential and does great work processing data to cover the entire floor plan, but serious work is still needed in the app to add options and features.
It’s great but….. So let me start by saying I love my little robot vacuum (which I have named rover) He leaves really nice stripes in the carpet and picks up a ton of doggie hair. BUT…. I really wish they would work on the usability. I feel like it would be great if I could explore just a single room after things have been moved around or something of that nature. Also I wish you could schedule to clean specific rooms on specific days so over the course of the week he would clean everything. Also it would be amazing if while cleaning he would use his sensors to see if there’s a new object in his path or if an object is gone so he would know he can or cannot clean there. With these things being said I love my little vacuum and he does a great job keeping the house up between periodic manual cleanings. I really hope someone at shark reads this review and updates the app and the robots accordingly as that would make me love mine that much more!!
Loved it at first , then it went Rogue…. Purchased in December 2024, Loved it (great improvement over my previous roomba)…in January it started to show a kind of its own and disconnected for 2-3 weeks unable to reconnect (should have been the warning to return). Finally got it reconnected, things were going ok…until Feb, March and April and now into may, this thing has a mind of its on and is always running rogue. It will set out to do a clean mission, drive out 3-5 ft and return to base saying Mission Complete…UM no not even close! It will stop 1-2 ft from its base and say can’t find dock…seriously it’s in front of you and has not moved since it was placed! This morning it was stuck ramming into the wall repeatedly for ten minutes…again that wall has been there since setup, but for some reason this morning it felt that it could will its way through the wall. Told it to go back to dock and it traveled the entire house unable to locate its dock. When it works it’s great but it is rogue more often than it works. Sadly I will have to switch back to roomba.
Surprisingly good!. I’ve held off getting one these because I was skeptical, and it’s a lot of money if you guess wrong. I finally got an opportunity to get this one for free, though, so it was time to find out the truth. (I chose it as my “20 years with the company” gift.) While it’s obviously not as smart as YOU are, and sometimes rolls over things (and gets stuck) that you would know to avoid, by and large it has been fantastic. I honestly thought we kept a pretty clean house... until this little gizmo found all the stuff we weren’t getting (including TONS of pet hair). Our floors, especially the low-pile, dark rugs, have never looked so good. It runs at night while we sleep (not too noisy; hasn’t really bothered us, anyway), and in the morning I remove it’s little collection bin and dump it out. Couldn’t be easier, unless it could empty itself! We absolutely love it and recommend it to everyone we know.
App and vacuum don’t communicate. Please fix! I bought this Matrix Clean vacuum and it worked great with the map at first, but for some reason it remember the map settings between cleanings. For example, I tell the vacuum to matrix mop, one room that I have designated in my map. It is supposed to go to the dining room and matrix mop that room only. When I press start, the vacuum wanderers around the house and never goes to the place where it is supposed to clean. After about 10 minutes of random exploring, it returns to the dock and says mission complete! I have tried restarting the app, deleting the app and reinstalling it, and nothing works, except to delete the map run re-explore and start all over again. I bought this vacuum/mop to save time. But I have spent more time trying to get this machine to do what it is supposed to do. When it works, it does a great job. But it is not consistent, and I don’t have time to keep running explore and re-creating maps. every couple of days. I tried to contact support through the app, but no one ever returned my concern or question. Very disappointing.
Robot - 5 stars; App - 1 star. The app definitely does not match the features of the robot. The biggest thing lacking is the scheduling function - it's all rooms or none, once a day. Their biggest competition (IRobot) has the ability to schedule multiple runs per day - which could have been a big enough deal for me to choose them instead. I don't understand why they cannot enable more bespoke scheduling options - I want to be able to vacuum 6 rooms in the morning while I'm working, and the rooms I'm using during the day get vacuumed in the evening when I'm through working. Push notifications also do not seem to work - I was expecting to be notified when it was finished with a cleaning run, or needed to go charge in the middle of one, or got lost trying to find the dock. The functionality of the vacuum itself is great. I have one relatively minor issue with the design: it has a big disc on top of the vac that seems to serve no purpose other than preventing it from going under my couch to get the fur balls under there, which my old entry-level one could get. The other confounding thing is that if I lose power, it undocks itself...but never redocks when the power comes back on, it just sits there drawing down the battery until it finally tells you it doesn't have enough power to find the dock... Update Oct 2022: so it seems the app developers have seen all the reviews aimed at the app and had a "you thought it was bad before? Hold my beer" moment. Now, whenever I open the app, it is as though I'm being prompted to set up an entirely new account - I'm asked what country I'm in, then asked to sign up for an account as the default (I have to hunt for the "I'm already registered, I want to sign in" link). I mean, really...do they think customers are hopping from country to country with their Shark robo-vac in tow?? Thank god for Keychain password keeper.....if I had to create a new password every time it logged me out of the app, I probably would have returned it by now.
Robot functions well, BUT….. Matrix machine which uses LIDAR to map your space works great. It’s much faster at mapping out rooms, which I can honestly say I experienced because I know someone who has an iRobot. I took a star off for two reasons, the new split rooms function is clunky and a step backwards compared to the old “merge” rooms feature . Secondly it seems like it would be so easy to have multiple floor maps (I assume Shark would probably rather every one buy a unit per floor, but iRobot has multi floor mapping… and maybe a reason to go iRobot). But because of the speed of the LIDAR mapping, it does an initial explore run very quickly before easily and quickly cleaning the unknown floor. However, the option of cleaning only select rooms is not possible. Overall, very Happy, to the point that I did buy a second unit. I even went with the dual mop and vacuum version. But when these go out, I may be pressed to go back to a single unit with iRobot, if shark does not come up with by multiple maps rather than me having to buy two units again.
App always has an issue. The robot vacuum works great. I can set it in a room, push clean and it will go everywhere and pick up all kinds of stuff. We have a multilevel home. So I can only map the floor that I have the docking station on. Used to be the app was constantly losing our map. Also, I don’t like that you can’t schedule one area that you have mapped with the schedule. Now the app is constantly telling me the dustcup needs cleaned and it’ll resume cleaning once it’s been emptied. It is empty, I double checked everything. I turned everything off. I turned everything on. I closed the app. Because that message sets on the app I can’t tell it to go clean the living room now. I can pick it up put it in the living room and push the clean button on the robot. I went through tech-support. They tried to tell me I need to replace something on the vacuum for that go away. The vacuum is fine. It’s the app. I hope this gets resolved with an update soon.
Shark review. What to understand is that this product will not completely take over the occasional use of a typical vacuum. It will clean the general floor plan of your home but will not be able to completely replace your typical vacuum to get a more “deep clean”. For general convenience, this product is a great tool to just press a button and have it tidy up a bit. The complaints I have with this product is that you must take apart and clean the parts of the product pretty often for the vacuum to work efficiently. I would say I clean mine every 3 to 4 times it runs through my home. Fail to do so clumps up the motor and it just gathers hair and dust and drops it off in one spot for you to pick up. Secondly, the mapping on the app does not seem to work well with the controls of the unit. For example, the vacuum’s hub is in our bedroom. If I were to tell it to clean the living room and dining room, it would take 20-30 min of it wondering in our bedroom before it made it into the living room/dining room.
Much better than my first robot experience. I bought my Shark after a terrible experience with another brand. I love that you can clean the whole house or room by room. Every once in a while, it gets hung up under a low sitting bed, but for the most part, it leaves my floors clean! I wish I had tried the one with a mop. Maybe next time. But if you just want reliably swept floors, this is a good purchase. I have about half and half—carpet in bedrooms and LVP. But I have several big area rugs. It goes between those surfaces pretty well in most locations in my home. The only disappointment I have is that I have a sofa that sits off my area rug but very close to it (3-4 inches). This robot does not pick up the hard surface dirt right in front of that couch. I have to sweep that dirt into a more open location to get it picked up. Also, the round shape makes corners hard. The little brushes get most of the corner dirt but not all of it always. Very minor criticisms. Overall, very good. I couldn’t give “half stars” but I’d give this a 4.5 if I could!
Works well, but don’t have a space in your robot’s name!. App works well, does what it should, and provides timely updates if your shark robot is stuck, full, or otherwise having a problem and needs rescue. 1. One gotcha to be aware of: if you have an embedded space in the name you have your robot, it will disconnect randomly from the App, and once it drops, it will stay disconnected. To fix this condition, you must re-associate the robot with the home wifi by re-running the WiFi wizard. The fix? Rename your robot and have only alphanumeric characters, it no embedded spaces in the name you give your robot. Name it “BobsRobot” (no spaces in name) but not “Bobs Robot”, which has a space included in the name. 2. If you have multiple Shark Robots, switching between them is a little cumbersome. Ideally, I’d like to see how BOTH are doing at once, since I have them cleaning at the same time. Instead, the app makes you toggle between them, so you can only check on one at a time.
Cheaper than the Roomba I7. We had the Shark IQ robot for nearly one year with more than 200 cleanings of our 2100SF main floor. We’re not convinced its cheaper price over the Roomba makes it a better choice, mainly because it requires constant attention in order to get reasonably thorough cleaning. We’ve worked closely with Shark support in dozens of calls for help troubleshooting, and several firmware and App revisions later, the robot behaves differently but still has the same fundamental problems. For example, it frequently cannot find its way back to dock. It can’t create an accurate map. It is extremely inefficient doing a small area of one room, leaving to vacuum another room, returning to the previous room to vacuum more, etc. Having said that, the only reason we don’t rate it with only one star is because it does clean and we’ve appreciated the help it provides, but when we compare it to the Roomba I7 (a friend has the I7 and they don’t have the problems we see with this Shark), if we had the chance to start over and choose, we would probably spend the extra to get the Roomba.
Mixed review on latest app update. The user interface on the new update 4.0 (40) is ugly and looks way different than the previous version. It’s just not pretty. Some data on the cleaning history has been wiped out and is not displayed (run time and area cleaned). If I tell it to go clean a specific room on the map instead of the whole house, it takes about 5 minutes after it launches from the dock to go into that specific room. It cleans the floor in the room where it’s docked for a few minutes before it heads into the room you asked it to go clean. But with the ugly comes some control fixes. The robot seems to communicate better and faster with the app whereas before the update some control buttons on the app were useless. I had to push the button on top of the robot if I wanted it to return to the dock before it finished its cleaning run. Also the “find robot” feature is now working in the updated version but didn’t in the previous version. Hopefully the developers will fine tune this version with a nicer looking interface while maintaining functionality.
App/vacuum issues. With this being a “smart vacuum” and paying a pretty penny I feel that it’s lacking some of the smart features and I’m paying for a really cool looking vacuum! I love this vacuum to say the least, but the app I am rarely ever able to control the vacuum from my phone(the start clean, head to dock, and suction type). Not sure as to why that is an issue, also the mapping it doesn’t seem to be the vacuum having the issues. Seems as if the app and the software are just not on the same level. Also I do not understand and actually I laugh sometimes when the vacuum is banging against the dock like it’s not there. This app needs some serious work over! With time I do feel it will get better, love the vacuum but the app and the software is terrible. The mapping is another issue, again I’m beating a dead horse, example of this issue; vacuum is mapping out my apartment vacuum goes into the bathroom daily, vacuum does not show there is a bathroom, I also don’t want to waste my time trying to erase and redo the map because it will take more than 4 weeks to get an apartment of 645sqft to redo.
Not Impressed. I purchased a Shark Matrix with the self cleaning base. Within only a month and a half it already had problems. I called customer support and after hassling them, they finally sent me a new robot. They agreed there was something wrong with the robot but were trying to force me to pay extra for shipping and it wasn't even 3 months old! I get the new one. Redownloaded the app and reconnected the new vacuum. Let it do its full explore run, which it completed very successfully. However, the "Schedule" function does NOT WORK AT ALL! It didn’t on the old robot and it doesn't on the new one! It literally runs in one room only for 5 minutes then claims it is done! It does this without fail every single time! It won't go to any other part of the house! I have tried for months to get these units to clean my entire bottom floor and have yet to be successful but it has a perfect map of my whole home. There is no excuse for this. Besides the app being able you get you a good layout on the trial run, don’t expect it to work for anything else. Totally useless! I have a brand new iPhone 17 ProMax with everything up to date, no excuses! Poor quality app!
Poor Software, Mediocre Robot. We bought our Shark IQ self empty at COSTCO in January 2022. The software is a by far the worst part of this setup. Why? Because it doesn’t work. The app doesn’t connect to the Robot at all. It tries, but then drops the connection. It doesn’t matter if I place the Robot right in front of our router and sit my phone right in front of the robot. When I called customer service, the representative made it obviously clear that Shark vacuums with Model codes starting “UR…..” seem to be the biggest problem case. He claimed he escalated it to the “UR-Team” and we would get a call back within 24-48 hours. But here we are 14-days later and still no call back. Needless to say, Sharks customer service is poor at best. The vacuum robot itself is OK. It is equal to our old and outdated roomba from 2010. We have three dogs and the shark iq self-empty will pickup about 95% of pet hair and dirt on hardwood floors. Same as our old roomba. But since this is a 2021 model, it should greatly outperform our old and trusty roomba. Unfortunately it is just equal. Since the app doesn’t work, it is not any better than a old roomba.
App needs major overhaul. App look & feel: great Robot itself: seems to be greatly functioning especially I saw it do the mapping and within first run I have a map created that I approved so I can do re-runs later to update. I was satisfied with it the first day. Guess what happened next day? It reset on its own - no more maps. I did the clean run and it did quite good for a portion of the house and I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t going to other portion when it has mapped the house already, until when I looked for maps only to see no maps approved. Surprising? Yup, I was too. Then I moved on and setup a schedule on this day - day 2 for every day at 2pm. I verified schedule is saved. Guess what happened next day? 2 pm went by, nothing happened. I open the app, it shows no scheduled runs. Basically, it looks like there is some sort of nightly batch job or something in their database end that clears my data every night. I don’t know why it would just be mine. I read a few reviews and found other people having issues with app but none seemed to be like mine. I really liked this robot over roomba that I had previously bought and returned, but due to the app being non-reliable, I feel I would have to return this product. Especially I see the note from the developer, there won’t be no more bug fixes or new software versions for ios10 or 11. Basically no more support at all. Maybe they are not wanting to invest in the robots anymore or they are really having a huge gap in product management
The app is the worst. First off, I can’t find the model number to find the right support for my item. I’ve had it less than a year and have had a few issues until it finally just stopped all together. I’ve been on the phone for over 20 minutes and have gotten nowhere. This is an item to be used everyday so you would think that they would have easier access to support for your vacuum since you have to register it and have it downloaded. For example, a link to support at the bottom of your item, or the model number of you click it! If you change wifi for your vacuum, there is no way to actually reconnect without deleting the item you have and then adding it again, which waste your progress of your map and what routine you work on. In theory this is a great product and would help reduce stress but any type of support is just ridiculous. Also I got connected with a human on the phone finally to be told this isn’t a vacuum but a machine so I have to be transferred to another human… so I guess it’s not a vacuum and I’m still on hold after 30minutes and writing this out for yet another human.
It’s OK. The vacuum works pretty well but I already had to replace the brush roller, which wasn’t covered under the warranty. I’ve only had the machine for about two months. The battery doesn’t last very long so it has to charge multiple times during a cleaning and sometimes I think it forgets to clean rooms. There is a cleaning history but it never updates so I never know which rooms actually got cleaned. It’s not as loud as a regular vacuum, which is nice. It’s still too loud to let it run at night though. I also get notifications in the middle of the night that the vacuum has experienced an error, but it’s been on the charger so I don’t know what that’s all about. I bought the vacuum on sale so at least I didn’t pay full price. I don’t hate the vacuum, but I don’t love it either. The app is super basic and doesn’t really do much but you can start a cleaning run at any time, set up no go zones and other basic things. Not a lot to talk about regarding the app.
App navigation is clunky. The vacuum is okay. Mapping was all over the place. On the first few runs, it created something that looked like the monster from John Carpenter’s The Thing. After deleting a few monster maps and starting over, I finally got one I could work with. It was frustrating, and I almost returned it, but I’m glad I stuck it out. The app itself feels very amateur - like a cheap knockoff of the iRobot app. Navigation is clunky and inefficient. For example, let’s say your vacuum gets caught on something. The app gives a notification. So you go to clear the issue, and want the vacuum to proceed with the job. You have to go into the app, go to the notification, and then go back to the menu to get back to the screen that shows the robot so you can resume vacuuming. This is overly-cumbersome. It looks like this was designed by programmers, and with little to no thought around actual user scenarios like clearing a stuck wheel. I really hope someone from Shark/Ninja reads this and can use it as ammunition to actually fix this clunky app to be on par with the competition.
Disappointed in the Shark Brand. I just received the Shark IQ 1000 series as a gift. I cannot even say I am impressed with how it works. From the moment I tried to connect it to the app, and now wanting to return the unit; I am extremely disappointed in the product Shark has placed on the market. The app has not worked properly since I created my account. I couldn’t register my Bot within my app. It has given the same error over and over, “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later.” I have been trying this for 4 days. I also went on the website to register seeing as the App isn’t working. The website was just as bad. It didn’t recognize my user name or password. So I tried to create a new account with the same information and it stated we already have an account with your email address. So I tried to change my password. I then went back to the login area and put in my new password. Once again, it didn’t recognize my newly changed password. I did the process three times to the same avail. If I can’t register or get into my account, there isn’t a reason to keep the unit. It still states the email or password provided is invalid. The unit itself has terrible suction. A tiny leaf jams the brush roll. I also wanted this particular unit because I have pets and it advertises that the brush roll won’t collect pet hair. Well, the unit does collect pet hair which does jam the brush roll. Just to put things in perspective. I expected the brushes to be filled with dog hair on the first cleaning.; but not on the third and fourth day. As far as the suction goes, the extremely strong suction is reserved for emptying the Bot into the receptacle. It sounds like a jet engine and compresses the dust and hair with sheer force. It’s too bad the suction on the Bot isn’t as strong at their normal stick vacuums.
Meh. I had a cheaper robot vacuum whose app was 10 times better. When trying to split rooms, I can zoom, but I can’t move the map around to get to the room I need to see up close. It just zooms into the center of the map, unable to shift the map left or right. When it’s vacuuming, it shows me what room it’s in, but it doesn’t show me the path the vacuum has made. This helps you to see what it’s vacuumed and what it hasn’t. It gets lost ALOT. If it needs to go back to base to refill water, you’ve got a good chance that it won’t find its way back to where it was, it just goes in a circle until you make it go back to base and start over. It remembers where rugs are but if you move a rug so it will mop where it was, it won’t go there, can’t sense the rug has been picked up. AND you can’t schedule reoccurring cleans. If you want it to clean every Sunday at the same time, you have to manually pick every Sunday and all the specific rooms you want. Fix these things that a cheaper vacuum had as its base perks and you’ve got a great app. But right now, this app is mediocre for a very expensive vacuum.
I hope developers read this. I love this vacuum cleaner. It’s quiet it does his job it’s consistent but it could be a lot better. First, would be very nice to fine-tune the map. It is frustrating to have to re-create the map from zero every time you move furniture or make changes around the house. Scheduling, it would be very nice to be able to set the vacuum cleaner to clean certain areas of the house at certain times and have multiple schedules. For example, I want the whole house to be clean every day at 9 o’clock in the morning, but I also want the kitchen to be cleaned at 1 PM and again at 9 PM. Also, when the robot senses distress, signal causes caught or the batteries are about to die. You should be able to see in the map where the robot is. Also, there should be a find my robot feature where you click on the button on the robot starts to chime. I hope that you take this suggestions and implement them. We would have a better product.
Love Shark, Hate This App. I have a VAC mop. The idea of it is great – a robot vacuum that also mops for you. The concept of the app seems great too, it creates a map of your home, you add areas that should stay away from, and can tell the robot to go clean whatever room needs it. in practice, the execution is terrible. Half the time the map will just delete for no reason. Other times the app and the robot have no idea what the other is doing. I will send the robot home, and it will talk itself. The app says that the robot is paused, so I can’t start a job until I tell the app to send the robot home again, at which point the robot removes itself from the dock where it just parked itself, does a one minute lap around my living room before docking again. often the app will bring up “let’s get started mopping!“ As it’s the first time I’ve ever opened the app. It then wants me to run a carpet Verification, even though I have no carpet. I have to exit out of the screens every time I open the app, unless I want to run the carpet Verification. The app, or the robot, or a combination of both are so buggy that I find myself troubleshooting longer than it would have taken me to vacuum and mop.
First impressions so far are good. The app seems to connect easily to the robot and is simple enough to use. It allows for scheduling, rooms, no go areas and carpet areas. Scheduling is very basic. Only allows you to pick the day and time. Please add to future app/robot scheduling to pick rooms for each day and vacuum mode choice for eco/normal/max. Rooms. Maps easily and you can manually pick 1 or more rooms to send the vacuum to clean. No go areas are easy to add but it would be nice if the robot after scanning would allow you to use the scanned map to show robots path so you can zoom in troubled areas and mark accordingly. Carpet areas I tried to draw where the carpets and carpeted rooms were and the vacuum seemed to want to travel around each square I drew to verify carpet. It seemed to run into the wall and everything while trying to verify and since it struggled so much trying to outline the perimeter of the carpets I ended up canceling the verifications and sent it to the base. Little to no instructions to read to see what I’m doing right or wrong. With the app it’s easy to add the link to Google so you can use a Google home device to control it. All I have to say is “Hey Google, vacuum the foyer” and off it goes. Outside of the basic scheduling and little to no instruction on how to use the carpet and mop feature of the robot I only give it a 3 star for now. If I see any improvements to those 2 items I will definitely raise the star level to reflect what I feel is missing for the higher rating.
Good but not great yet. (Having to rebuild your house map with new app updates is frustrating). The app and vacuum are 80% of the way there and overall I’m pretty satisfied with them. However, my biggest frustration is having to remake the house map from scratch frequently with new app updates. The vacuum works great for a month or two but then all a sudden when I try to have the vacuum go clean the kitchen, all of a sudden the house map is gone and it has to do the whole house again once or twice to rebuild the map. Other than that, it’s pretty great. Deals with pet hair like a champ. Navigation is good. I have some larger than average lips to the floors in different rooms and even though it can have a hard time getting over them, it still manages to get over them after a try or two and doesn’t just think they’re walls and give up like a previous vacuum we had. Like I said, a whole lot to like. Losing the house map frequently is really my only big complaint.
Works okay but not for the price. I have the shark never touch pro model, has LIDAR sensor plus cameras The vacuum works okay, suction is above moderate, moping is acceptable Overall is about satisfactory job But: With LIDAR, cameras and other sensors You expect it detect everything! Reality is no, still go over stuff such as desk legs and stuck there, skip a lot of areas specially if run it for the whole house at once, cleaning wise is okay but I would nit say it has superior sucking power or decent strength for moping not really! But it is still on the acceptable range, the app is the only really bad thing, it is not as shown on the app store screenshots, there is no such thing as ultra clean or high traffic zone nor ability to customize the map, I can’t split room or merge it although there is dedicated button for that! The vacuum doesn’t clean underneath the bed although there is plenty of hight clearance! Even after I physically placed it under the bed it came right out! You can’t mark specific area to be cleaned or not cleaned easily it has predetermined spaces you can choose! It will be practical if you can just circle and chose to block it or clean it For a big name like shark I was expecting a lot from the app specially the vacuum hardware should be very capable Update : I finally figured out how to merge or split room, you have to clear/delete all rooms then the system will named just room1 room 2 etc. then you can split/merge and rename, crazy unusual unnecessary and hidden steps! But at least did that part :)
The best robot shark vacuum!. I used to work for a cleaning company and we used shark vacuums. I was always AMAZED by the dirt the vacuum would pick up out of a rug and it would make it look BRAND NEW again!! I’ve never seen a vacuum do that before. So when it came to keeping my house clean of course I got Shark. Haven’t been disappointed at all! 5 Stars all the way around. Noise is sometimes irritating so I go upstairs while it cleans my downstairs but I don’t mind the noise if it means it’s using that powerful suction to get everything! It does an amazing job with cat hair. Never gets caught up in it and always gets sucked into the vacuum canister container when it’s done vacuuming which doesn’t need emptied except every 2-3 months. I’m honestly so impressed with the ability it has to clean the cat hair up considering I have a long haired cat that sheds a lot. All the time. I have mine set on a timer every night while I’m in bed so I don’t have to work around it. It’s amazing!
There’s no way these aren’t paid reviews. For such a huge company, this app is absolutely pathetic. The map constantly just disappears, re-arranges rooms, and freezes into a state where nothing can be edited, and the robot itself follows the most illogical paths, cleans the same areas multiple times, and gets lost finding its way back home. To make it worse, if you are lucky enough to get to a point where you actually have an accurate map and tell it to clean only specific rooms, it seems to just do it’s own thing most of the time and clean wherever it wants. Ours has started to clean multiple times in the middle of the night (12-2AM) without being told to do so. We have factory reset it, cleared the map, etc. We’ve tried everything. In theory, this is an excellent machine for the price with the scheduling, mapping, and self-emptying features but without a decent app it’s all meaningless. DO. BETTER. I want to like it, but I also want to not have to think about it. That’s what makes a tool like this actually useful and convenient. That iRobot at Costco looks like a better deal every time I see it….
