Best app out there. This app has high quality topographical maps for all national forests, AND it records your track as you hike. It’s amazing!

Very good app. This app has got me out of trouble several times. Make sure you download the map before you take off on your hike.

Very old data. This seemed to be an interesting app fir off-road exploring. Sadly though their data are so outdated that roads listed as dirt roads have been paced and entire neighborhoods have been built more than 25 years ago. I will stick with GAIA-GPS. They actually updated their data and have some more information outside of the NF areas.

Great app.. Great app. Good details. Two improvements I would like to see are (1) allow changing the names of the waypoints after you save the initial name (2) being able to share waypoints via text, email or air drop.

Pinenutz. Definitely has it's uses for route planning. REALLY NEEDS MORE PIN COLORS AND IF POSSIBLE MORE PIN SHAPES ASAP. Thank you. Might consider other mapped public land owners in future?

Been looking for this for years. How I missed this app for so many years I will never know but so glad I found it. Works perfectly.

Keep it up!. I found this app through the developers other app “Number Shield” This one is also awesome and is so much easier than going through the forest service to get their maps and stitch them together I subscribe to Pro to support the developer. They seem to have a knack for making simple and quality apps that solve a basic but necessary problem.

Great maps. Would be a great platform to be able to bring layers into and show project units or fire perimeters.

Got me out of a jam!. The GPS in my Jeep sucked. It wasn’t a very useful map for 4x4 trails, but when I opened this app I was able to get back in the main trail - it got us out of a jam big time because we kept heading away from the main trail and could’ve been lost for hours. Worth the purchase!!

Worked GREAT…. ...in and around William’s, AZ and South Rim of the Grand Canyon! Ten nights of no cost camping in beautiful boondock forests.

Great app when you’re out on trail. Got this app as backup to several others for hiking and now think it’s great. Not a lot of fancy bells and whistles - can’t record hike, check pace, heart rate, blood pressure etc. but shows trail and location even when fired up outside of cell service. My go-to app now for finding way on trails in National forests.

Charged me for upgrade, before I even used it. I have not used the app yet. I just downloaded it today but it shows a charge for an in app charge of “Pro” version. I definitely did not sign up for a PRO version when I’ve not even tried it yet. How is this possible? A park ranger told me about the app and I downloaded it, free version yet I was charged. Why? I tried to report it to Apple but they show nothing to refund. Go back to purchases and it’s there. Is this a SCAM? How can I be charged for something I did not get?

Good but getting it to trace a route?. Some times when following a trail on a downloaded map it does not show the trace but just a straight line between the beginning and the end. Today when it did that I stopped recording, then started a new recording which followed my trace perfectly.

Like It. Nice clean maps. Easy interface. The best I have used so far. I like being able to download the maps (optional).

Info on marker. When reading the marker location, the marker time and coordinate info overlap. And you cannot read the coordinate info

I'll never be lost again!. It's wonderful to so quickly download and use a map even when there's no cell coverage. Plus I can see exactly where I am on the trail! Such a valuable tool.

Absolute Best. I use OnX hunt and have tried other similar Apps for field use both professionally and recreationally. Forest Maps app is easy, simple to use, accurate, and very well developed. The entire array of maps are downloaded and functional so they are already available. I have ended up using this app more frequently vs it’s competitors due this fact. I can use this App in the field without prior downloading of specific areas or any other planning. It just works all of the time. I wouldn’t change a thing about this App.

Complete garbage. App doesn’t work properly with 100Gb fiber, let alone in the forest. Trails aren’t even close to USFS maps. Don’t bother.

Best map app of national forests available. This is the best thing going by far to find your way around a national forest. At larger scales, you are viewing official national forest visitor maps, but when you zoom in, the view changes to official USGS topo maps. Nicely done.

Love app but crashes too much. Please please fix your app! I rely on it so often and can’t use it when it keeps crashing on me!

Great, but needs an easy way to share pines locations. Great app, but there’s no easy way to capture and share locations. I use the app to scout and track trips, so being able to send a location to my driving gps or share with a hunting buddy is a must.

Best detailed maps. This map app is awesome, I use it for hunting in Northern California. The detail of roads, as far as the size difference between highways, trails and dirt roads is obvious — big plus there. I can’t say enough about the fine details on these maps! They are excellent — the map color is off gray, the details just jump off the map at you. Found a hidden gem of a camp site with this app. All maps are of course GEO enabled, you would have to try to get lost with this app on your phone, if that’s even possible. Waypoints are in layers so, you can quickly go to the layers menu and bring up all your waypoints. Nice job to the developer.

Not so easy to use. I bought the PRO version and am sorry. I can access only one forest map. I cannot get any others to open and there are no directions anywhere.

Needs updating. There are areas that are no longer forestry areas. Especially SC. Please update. I thought I was on public land but found out I was actually on private land.

Useless app. Maps are outdated. First thing I did was compare this to the official forest service map app (that they’ve broken and can’t download for offline use) looking for an alternative. Maps on this app are outdated. Shows FS roads that are closed. Easy way to get a ticket driving down a closed road. Same as Gaia.

Perfect for mountain biking!. I love how even with no cell coverage I get geo-located perfectly and show very single trail around! Amazing!

Best maps when out fishing. I LOVE these maps for when I am out fishing!

Yet another useless map app. There isn’t a single app on the App Store that does not make you pay to download maps. maps are public and free on paper, so there is no reason they should cost anything, especially ones that are 15 years outdated Like the one in this app. Let me download the map in its entirety and I’ll give 5 stars.

Great app.. Love this app, was out jeeping in unfamiliar areas and I was so surprised how accurate and detailed it was. Recommending to all my adventuring friends. Love the tracking feature.

Forest Map App!!!. Really like this app but disappointed that now to load the maps I have to pay for them.

App is great. I love this app for the most part. I spend a good chunk of time in the forest for work and personal. My one issue with the app is the lack of crosshairs or some easier way to drop pins on specific locations. I like to drop pins accurately on locations and this is currently very difficult. If something like a crosshair were added, this would definitely be a 5 star app.

Excellent app but one suggestion. Love it for reasons that this can do what Avenza can’t, however, if this app could do what Avenza could… area calculation etc… it would be the superior app and I could get rid of Avenza.

Great Support. I contacted the developer when a section of map I needed wasn’t rendering, and he responded immediately, fixing it within a few days. The app works great, and even tracked my movements on a downloaded map in airplane mode. Awesome app, thanks.

Great addition to other navigation apps. Just upgraded to the pro and am looking to test it out tomorrow. Will update after but thus far it is a great tool for planning out routes.

The app is great premise but needs improvement.. Got this to use when out exploring and usually where I do not have cell coverage. I have down loaded several maps, it doesn’t seem to work well when there is no cell service. Several times the previously downloaded maps wouldn’t load and when zooming in, frequently won’t display more map details unless I have cell coverage. When I do have coverage it works great. Using iPhone 8 with the current iOS. Edit: 3* to 5* Good response from developers and bug was fixed.

Forest Maps. This is an awesome app for those who travel in the National Forests.

If would be great if... iOS 13 users beware.... I rated this App 3 stars for now until they fix it for iOS 13. Ever since I up graded to iOS 13.1.x, the application is broken. It will start up then it just locks up and is unresponsive. I did send emails to support. All I received was a note back saying “we are sorry you are having trouble...”. The application works great with previous versions of iOS. Good thing I didn’t update all of my devices. However, I use my phone the most and am bummed I can’t use it on the go. So I use my old iPad for planning trips out to the woods. One great addition the application could use is a way it import and export pin locations. Especially when programming flaws like this one happens. You won’t loose all your favorite waypoints and locations. If they fix the app I will write an updated review. Best Regards & good luck.

Whole forest downloads!. I really appreciate that this app developer added this feature similar to his original app. We can see exactly where we are and where we can go to next. It is also great for adding POIs and campsites. One time, we got lost in an Oregon National Forest looking for Waterfalls, but this app, with its detailed roads, helped us to find our way out. USFS roads, because they were built for logging in varied terrain, are often a maze of twisty tangled roads to nowhere. Thanks again.

Absolutely reliable!. Absolutely reliable for accuracy, used it for logging last year. Kept me on public land within 100ft. US Forest service even came by and warned me I might be on private property but I busted out the app and showed him my position and was good to keep logging! I ended up paying for in app upgrade, it’s my main phone map and I absolutely recommend it!

Indispensable app!. I initially downloaded this app a few months ago because I go out into the woods often and don’t hike on trails. In the beginning, I didn’t have the option to create a track, which was ok, in a sense, because just having the detailed map was more than what I had before. (I have the app on my iPad which has cell capabilities so it connects to GPS.) Then one day, I noticed that I DID have the option in the toolbar along the bottom to create tracks and download maps, which was fantastic! That was incredibly useful and I encouraged the forest conservancy that I volunteer with to download and use this app over what they were using. About a month later, I went to the woods, pulled out my iPad to start creating a track but the option to do so was gone! Frustrating, to say the least. I contacted the developer and explained the problem. He gave me suggestions to try and get the options back, although none of them worked. He then provided a code to redeem to upgrade to the premium version because of the trouble I had with the app. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this app and the service I was given by this developer!! It’s such a relief to have encountered such great service when a problem arose! Thank you for your help and for a great app that may save my life one day!

Thanks for update!!. Have had this app since it's original conception and used it every time we went camping and riding.It has been my go to for NF roads. I am so glad it's back and better.Great map offline and shows trails and roads that others don't. Improvements would be overlays of MVUM maps !! I love it we can download entire forest and roads leading up to them! Update ..... do the whole state of AZ ,we've got sooomany trails to hike ,bike and ride.!!!

I want my $3 back. Doesn’t show topo of a lot of forest. Especially the green game lands.
