Errors in new version. Great to see this fantastic app updated after several years. However, if you click on the Cortlandt St 1 station, it gives you the station map for the R. Please fix this!

Convenient for New Yorkers and visitors. Clearly a lot of work went into this app. The update for the Second Avenue Line makes it one of the best tools out there for commuters and visitors alike.

So happy it’s updated. This app is the best illustration possible of how computers and databases can make life better. Thanks so much for updating it.

Expectations greatly exceeded!. I come to NYC about one weekend a month to visit my girlfriend. While I'm there I try to maximize my time. Exit Strategy has helped me save time communiting between locations so I have more time to visit. Exit Strategy has even helped me catch planes because it optimized my trip between Manhattan and JFK. Once I had to run through an airport and just barely caught my flight - if Exit Strategy hadn't told me how to save a few minutes switching trains, I certainly would have missed my flight. The improvements in 2.0 are incredible. The neighborhood view is great for finding the entrance in those out-of-the-way areas and having the bus maps is so much more convinient than carrying the bulky MTA maps! This application surprised me with it's wealth of data and easy-to-use interface. Highly recommend!

Whoa never gave up on this app. I’ve had this app for years. Hands down the only app I’ve ever felt was worth paying for. Very useful and so I’m happy to see a 2019 update!

Must for living or visiting NYC. I’ve lived in the city for 10 years and use this app every time I travel a new route for the first time.

Redemption. Is this possibly reclaiming the title of the best NYC subway app?? After appearing to have been completely abandoned for so long this app may finally be worth buying again. I’ve been using it since I moved to NYC 10 years ago. Let’s hope they don’t make the same mistakes again

Your Q 72nd St. station button is busted. Or it doesn’t exist, whichever. Add/fix it and I’ll change the review. This is a really good app, except for the time you are going to 72nd St. on the Q line and can’t find the best car to exit from.

Still the best. You need the MTA app for service changes but most days you need this. We’re usually waiting for the train, why not walk down the platform to where your best exit is at your destination stop? Even when you have time to spare you’d rather not use more of it on platforms than necessary.

Make us happy. I love this app but it cna honestly do a lot better. I wish I could find my current location on this thing other then going to the iPhones built In map app. I also think that the stAtion pictures need to be more organized. I stay staring at this picture with about 3 possible ways to exit. I the features it has now are great but if this app wants to sell better and keep itthe best selliing mta NYC app then this needs improvement. I know that updating this app could be very complex since it's massive size but I really think it's worth your while to change. For us to enjoy this app I really hope you guys are reading our comments because I really could have put one star and help you guys to never sell again. Make us happy , more them you already did with your awesome features this app has WITH OUT wifi. Impressive stuff. I would have been lost finding my way home. This app could be the greatest I see this app On top. Thank you I really hope to god you have a update

Finally updated!!. My favorite NYC transit app again! Thank you, thank you, thank you for updating with all the new stations and changes in lines!! For those thinking of purchasing, this app saves you so much time while waiting for trains. Truly priceless!

Great app. Nothing else has this information as well as a relatively painstaking assembly of all of the Manhattan detailed neighborhood maps all into one big image Even though it hadn’t been updated in years it’s still great because, well, it’s not like Manhattan or the MTA changes too often either

Buy it now. Seriously the best how to get around NYC app available. It tells you which door of which car to stand at to get to which stairs to get where you’re going fastest - no matter which direction your train is going. I bought it as a visitor and used it even more once I moved here. This thing is ridiculous and you need it.

Updated at last!. I don’t know what it says about my life (and I probably don’t want to) that I’m almost in tears of joy about an app update. A couple other apps have tried something similar, but no one else gets it right. I’d all but given up hope. Great to have it back!

Best few bucks I’ve ever spent! The only app I’ve ever reviewed!. Such a great little app. Saves me a few minutes at least a few times each week (I use it anytime I take the train other than to and from work/home, since I have those train exits memorized, obviously). Put it all together and this thing has paid for itself a hundred times over. Honestly, no matter how little you value your time, this app will earn its minuscule, one-time price. Love it. Never written a review for an app, but I want to show my appreciation for this thing. Great idea, great execution - I’ve bought it for like 5 other people by now.

Hooray. Love this app saves me so much time on my commute and makes me feel like I’ve got the drop in all the other schmucks! So glad to see an update FINALLY!

Finally an update! Great app!. been using this app for years And it’s always been worth it even without this latest much-needed update. Now it’s even better.

NYC Essential. I downloaded this app in 2009 and still use it regularly 14 years later. That’s longer than most relationships. Thanks for helping me stay efficient.

Please 72nd St Q station. The app has no data to use this station

The best app for NYC transit. This is the best of the best. You have everything you need for your transportation in NYC.

🚇🏃🏽‍♂️‼️. Thanks for the update!💯

Yay!. I’m giving five stars without even having tried the update yet—that’s how happy I am to see it back in action!

A MUST for nyc subway users. Since 2009, I’ve been using this app almost daily. I’m so happy it’s still being updated!! Thank you!

ExitStrategy. I love this app!!!

My #1 NYC app (from nyc resident). I purchased Exit Strategy years ago and I’m thrilled to discover that it’s finally been updated. It shows me where to stand on a train to get an optimal transfer to another train. And you can easily switch to a local map at each subway location. I’ve used this app religiously for years, even when it went through a period of no updates (not sure why that happened). Thank you to the team that made the updates.

Extremely Helpful. This app is awesome! Has saved me time and helped in planning my use of the NYC subway system. 👍👍👍👍👍

Finally updated!. been using this app nearly daily for probably almost ten years (yes I know where my exits are, but I'm frequently going to different stations). updating my previous review back up to four stars thanks to the recent update. STILL NEEDS JAY ST / METROTECH transfers (A/C/F<-->R) put in. These stations were connected ages ago. Dont know how this hasn't been done yet, especially since I wrote about this issue specifically years ago. Updating this small issue would make it a 5 star for me, but currently I wonder how many other stations are missing things like this due to recent (past 6 or so years) changes.

One of my most used apps in NYC. This app will save you hours a year by telling exactly where you need to be to catch the next subway. One time you don’t miss the G train on the weekend because you’re 10 seconds too late - those 27 minutes waiting will be worth the $0.99

I did not pay for this app but it charged me. I did not pay for this app but it charged me

COMPACT AND USEFUL APP!. This is a handy little app that really takes the guesswork out of the underground geography of the NY subway system. On your way to the subway, or even when you're already underground (i.e.the app is not signal- dependent), you can strategize: 1)what car on the train to board in order to make the most efficient transfer to the next line you plan to take, thus making your ride smoother and really easy to plan. You can also 2) open a geographically correct map of the local streets of your destination showing the exact placement of the exit staircases from your subway up to the street, so that you will be oriented perfectly when you come up to the surface again. I've lived in NY all my life, and although I know an awful lot of stations pretty intimately, it still helps me manage the ins and outs of the stations with which I am not as familiar. For a tourist it would be a real help, and for us natives, its a pleasure!

Go-to subway app now updated!!. Thank you for the update!!! I use this app constantly - even before the new map was added. So glad you’ve brought it up to date.

Neighborhood map needs update. Good app. Unfortunately neighborhood map (for detailed station entrance information) has not been updated. Q and 7 line extensions not included

Essential. Longtime fan and THRILLED to see an update. This is the best “secret NYC” app I have.

The best. Thank you so much

So Happy to see Update!. I love this app but haven’t used it for a while figuring it has been abandoned by developer. Then I saw current update. Fabulous! Two clicks gives instant easily readable info on where line goes and what car you should be in to exit efficiently. It won’t give you real time or track route changes but the MTA app will do that if you need it. This is a great everyday app for quick, well presented info. Thank you!

Highly recommend!!. Great app for maximum efficiency when traveling the NYC subway system. I’m so happy it was updated for the 2nd ave line!!

It’s back!. Wow I can’t believe they finally updated this app! I’ve been using the out of date one all along because it’s so useful. Can not recommend this more. It will save you all kinds of time in the subway, especially during rush hour. A must have for any New Yorker.

Was my favorite app...could be again.. Living in NYC, this app has been invaluable in cutting down my travel time. For those who have missed a train by just a few seconds because you had to walk an extra 20ft. will understand the frustration that comes with the daily subway commute. When you have to transfer at least once, this can mean the difference between showing up to work 5 minutes early or 15 minutes late. That said, I would have given this 5 stars except for the fact that it stopped working completely when I upgraded to the iPhone 6. I know that sometimes there are hiccups when an OS is updated (I assumed it was iOS 8, not the phone), so I gave it a couple weeks for an update. When that didn't come, I emailed support from the app just to have it bounce back. Without any way to contact support, and no communication on their site, I am deeply disappointed that such an amazing app would just allow itself to not work for all customers. The fact that it's not a free app aside, I just want this to work so I can get back on track with my hassle-free subway riding. At that point, this will become a 5 star review.

Great App - save time & steps. Some trains are 2 blocks long and some stations have multiple exits/entrances. This app displays this info for you in an easy to understand format. Allows you to use the time waiting for a train to move to the car nearest your stop. I use it often - it works.

Love it, missing some info. Love this app, I use it all the time! On the Q line at 72nd street doesn’t seem to work. No data comes up when I select it. Pls fix :-)

The best app ever!. I been using this app since 2011 and it’s been absolutely amazing! I’m happy the author still updates it and really appreciate their time on doing it 😊

Amazing Idea Meets Excellent Execution. One Sentence App Review: This app is a must for navigating NYC. ---------- App Update Review (v 2.0): The update really makes this app amazing! So many things fixed and packed with tons more features. ---------- Original App Review: This is an app I don't feel bad paying for! Exit Strategy provides truly premium content and it's not much more than a subway ticket! Navigation in the app is easy and intuitive. If you consider yourself a "power user" or a "life hacker" you will love this app. It should be your secret weapon while traveling via the subway. The app saves your recently found routes and has the ability to create favorites. If you commute to work on the subway then I'm sure you know your own route but what about all those other times that you have to just run errands to some unknown destination? That's what this was made for.

Best NYC transit app!. Finally, an update!! I've been using this app for over a decade and nothing else compares for efficient navigation of the NYC subway system. Thrilled to see it's still being maintained :)

Any update on the way?. Thanks for the good app

72nd on Q. For some reason this station doesn’t work on the app.

Very detailed app, but outdated and seemingly abandoned. The app is very thorough. It includes info on entrances and exits for most of the 400+ subway stations and includes NYC subway and bus maps for the 5 boroughs and local neighborhood maps of the areas surrounding each subway station as a bonus. Unfortunately as of July 2019 the app hasn’t been updated in over 3 years, so a few significant developments such as the return of the W train in 2016 or the opening the Second Avenue Subway in 2017, as well as things like the opening of new elevators or entrances/exits at older stations are not reflected in the app. The subway and bus maps in the app are likewise outdated. Given that over 3 years have passed without an update, the app seems to have been abandoned. (The official website for the app seems to have been abandoned too, as the site lists “469 stations” instead of 472 with the three new Second Avenue stations). The app is still pretty useful for traveling over most of the system, as long as you don’t use a station or route that has changed materially in the past few years.

Great app, minor flaw. This is probably one of my most used apps and I think the info on it is right about 98% of the time. The one problem I have is the size of the neighborhood maps. It seems the problem of jumping to the wrong spot on those was fixed, which helps, but my issue is with the fact that some of those maps are so huge to begin with. I remember reading something from the developers about the app a while ago, saying that some of the neighborhood maps were smaller because of lack of space. Reading that is infuriating when EVERY single station in Manhattan has a detailed map of the entire island, and then the farther out into the outer boroughs you get, the smaller the maps are, to the point where some stations barely have a five block radius. That seems like really poor space management. It's not like more extensive maps of those outer borough neighborhoods don't exist.

A decade running - still the best. Finally updated by devs to show 2nd Ave Addition! (Just missing updates to the neighborhood maps) This is the ONLY app that provides neighborhood views for EVERY station, along with popular areas and Manhattan. Add in the station exit guides and this app sets itself apart from any other on the market - highly valuable when in a rush or beating the rush.

Incredibly Useful!!!!. Worth every penny and truly made for New Yorkers and travelers! While the mta official app gives up to day changes, it’s so hard to quickly find information that’s immediately useful. I’ve been loyally using Exit Strategy for years now and it has never let me down. It allows you to prepare your next transfer/exit with ease down to the exact door. Do not hesitate to download this app. It will make you more efficient and less stressed about where to be and go. You don’t need to be an NYC subway expert to feel like one. Keep up the good work Exit Strategy! You are loved and appreciated!!!

Awesome: New Version Replaces 3+ other apps. This was a great app before, which I used all the time. But now I can delete my other subway map app, PLUS I get *offline* bus maps, PLUS a full *offline* map of Manhattan and much of the outer boroughs, PLUS maps of the stations themselves, and their exits. Tells you everything you need to know while you're below-ground, so you can pop up where you need to, and get where you're going. And in many ways, these maps from the MTA are more useful than Google's maps, because they include the station exit locations, and show you the block numbers immediately adjoining the station, so you can figure out which way to walk. The user-interface, BTW, is a dream. They've worked hard to make it work just the way it should, with clickable stations on the subway map, and the option to jump directly to either the Exit Strategy instructions, or the local map. Very well done, guys. (It is, certainly, a jump in price. But for the price of a giganto-mocha at your local coffee shop, you get a useful app you can make use of every time you travel, and which replaces several costly other apps. Offline maps alone are worth around $5 it seems, and they don't work as well. So all this functionality in one place is a huge bargain.)

Good concept, needs improvement.... Great idea, execution needs work though. The walk throughs are blurry, and the user experience feels a little counter intuitive at times. For example the push notification to choose train direction should be obvious when you choose your start and finish station. Feels like a block. Look forward to updates though.

Great BUT. App is not working in ios8. Why?!

Excellent.. It was accurate most of the time on what train car to board. The only thing it was missing is the timetables but it's coming soon. Update to this review: I have bought this app with intentions that timetables will come along but its been almost over a year now and they still havent bothered updating it with timetables. They should stop advertising this future feature unless they actually release it.

Does one thing really well. This little app is the must-have complement to a subway map. No map or app but THIS one tells you exactly which subway car door to stand by to avoid those long walks through stations looking for transfers or exits. I now use the time waiting for my train to walk down the platform to just where I need to be, saving much time at my destination.

So much value, but.... I use this app constantly. So if you are thinking “is this worth it”, the answer is yes, yes it is. The developer must have done a ton of work to collect all of the data needed to make this app work and having access to that data is just super useful. On the other hand, the app execution isn’t outstanding. I think tapping each station just loads a static image or pdf file which feels clunky and makes the app pretty large. And… it is fine. I learn what I need to know from the app. Sure, the design keeps me from unequivocally recommending this app to everyone friend I talk to, but if you are already reading the reviews here, you will probably be happy with the purchase.

Works where you need it!. I use this ap constantly. The fact that it works off-line is kind of, uh, ESSENTIAL! Checking connection info as well as street directions while deep underground in NYC makes this ap the must-have if you live/work/play there. I know the actual exit info is great too but for me it's the system map, the local street map, then the exit info. The only suggestion/wish I have is to add schedule notes like "For #2 service after 10PM, use the #1", etc. Great ap - Thank You!

Still worth the money. I know it hasn’t been updated but the time I have saved since downloading it years ago is worth way more than $4...less than the price of a latte. The one star rating should go to the users who seem to have lost sight of what a nice life they have to have the LUXURY to complain about a GIFT. We have the internet on the subway now. Most apps like this are becoming irrelevant. I don’t blame the developers if they did abandon it...

The only NYC map you'll ever need. I got this app back in 1.0 and it was useful, but once you memorized where to stand... This update has bumped the app to my home page and killed itrans. Countless times have I gone underground and forgotten where I am getting off, but don't have anything except an address. The offline street and bus maps alone are worth the price of admission.

Just Fantastic!. I was shocked at how much this app was improved in the new version. You now have a fantastic detailed offline map of Manhattan & ALL the surrounding areas of every subway station. AND bus maps-This is no longer a niche program but a program that (almost) replaces any NYC map/subway/bus program out there. If they add a subway/bus timetable & schedule it will be the only one you will ever need. Until then...still a 5 star app, without question!

Very useful, but could use a little work.. This is a great idea for the iPhone, but it needs some more polishing. Subway maps and service updates should be integrated. It also could use some higher resolution graphics since it pixilates when you zoom in on a map. It would also be nice if it integrated transfers (when arriving at a station, clicking on another subway line would take you to a new map). Nice idea though and it must have taken a lot of work to compile. Keep up the good work.

Great App. I love this idea and it actually works really well. I can't imagine how much work was put into calculating all this data. I find it very useful when having to calculate where a transfer will be at a stop you get off. I would recommend this app to anyone riding the nyc subway (tourists & locals). Another perk... no wifi necessary, so you can use the app while underground. Def worth the price!

Very useful, but could use some more polish. This is a really useful app, and the detailed neighbourhood maps are one of its best features. Having said that there are a few things that could be improved: * A better icon would be nice. The current one looks cheap (sorry to come off harsh to whoever the designer was). * The zoom levels on the neighbourhood maps need adjusting. I can't zoom out as far as I'd like to get an overall picture of neighbourhoods. And when I zoom in, I have to zoom too far in for the map to become non-blurry.

Accurate but incomplete. Most of the outer borough stations are not included, and some transfer and exit information is incomplete. BDF lines are worst- do you expect me to believe there is only one stairway between the ACE platform and the BDF at West 4th st? There are at least six! Also when the transfer from one line to another is across the platform (jay st and nevins st for example) you should indicate that and not just leave the info out) Summary: right now there is not enough information to make this app worth $2. One feature request I have is the ability to flick the images up or down to move up or down between stations on the current line. It's not necessary but would be sexy.

An okay app. This application is still lacking in a lot of ways, but useful if all you're really looking for are maps (and know how to use them without any guidance). The maps presented in this app are out of focus when zoomed out, and there is no way to easily plot a course from where you're at to where you want to be without doing it the old fashioned way (tracing the map). Another shortcoming is on the subway function - There is only "Uptown" and "Downtown" listed as directions which is a problem once you leave Manhattan to, let's say, Brooklyn. What does Uptown look like on a train like the L which only travels crosstown? I would still reccomend itrans over this even dispite the bus maps.

Awesome upgrade!. I had version 1 of this app and found it useful but limited. After upgrading to version 2, it has become one of my favorite apps. The addition of the subway map was huge but incorporating the street local maps turned it into a 5 star app. Now, the entire subway station is highlighted with an overlay of the street map and all entrances are shown along with the corresponding train connections. The local maps also include nearby popular destinations and addresses. I rarely venture out of manhattan but for those that do, bus maps and some neighborhood maps outside of manhattan are now included.

THE New York Subway app. Among the three NYC subway apps on my iPhone, this has become the go-to option, especially with enhancements in the latest version. It's true that the street maps aren't sharp at every magnification and cover only the immediate area around many stations in the outer burroughs; both can be annoying. But being able to find closer, less-obvious entrances to large stations and to decide while waiting on the platform underground where to enter the train for a quick exit saves a lot of time and hassle, making this the king of subway map apps -- and one I actually use constantly when I'm in the city.

Agree; best NYC subway app ever!. Seriously, I was a big fan of v1 of this app, but v2 really makes me very happy. I especially love the addition of the Neighborhood maps. Perhaps it's just for OCD folks like myself, but I really enjoy being able to have scale maps that shows exactly where the entrance / exits are for subway stations. Nevermind the original "pre-walking" aspect of the app. Again it's really really great! Thanks JWeg Ventures!!!

Oh NO!!! Doesn't work on 6+!! I'm devastated!. I just upgraded to the iPhone 6+ from the 5S a few days ago, and one of the FIRST things I needed to use was ExitStrategy to navigate my way through the city to attend an event in a location I don't often go to. FAIL! At first I just thought the app didn't restore properly, because it opens, the tutorial works, and you can select a map type, but then all of the maps were solid black!!! So I deleted and reinstalled. Same thing. I looked it up in the App Store, and lo and behold -- several reviewers have recently mentioned this issue. NOOOO!!! it was one of the best most useful apps. And it's not free!! But it's not working. And it hasn't been updated in over a year, which worries me. Please please fix this app!! It took me an extra 10 minutes to figure out my trip and which subway car / street exit to use the other day and I was NOT a happy NYC Camper. :(

Hands down, the best NYC transit app!. This is not an app for novices, or folks who are unable to read maps, service notices, or platform signs. This is an app for New Yorkers who already know how to get where they're going, but want to get there quicker, easier, and (if it's raining out) drier! The station/train selection is a breeze, with a beautiful copy of the official MTA map. Information is deadly accurate - if it says a door will open in front of the stairwell you want , IT WILL! My favorite bonus is the inclusion of the MTA neighborhood maps, which show station exits, street addresses, and bus connections! Absolutely beautiful app, excellent design. Only flaw is that even in the latest version, it is not completely crash and freeze-proof. Fortunately, on the iPhone4 at least, those happen infrequently enough that I do not hesitate to give this app my highest recommendation.

Needs night mode+timetables. Great app, but I desperately miss Kickmap's "night mode", which shows you what the routes look like at night. This also needs timetables! (so you know when the next train is)... It would be awesome if it indicated the next train automatically based on current time. Other than that, this app shows a lot of promise. I especially like the neighborhood maps and train-door diagrams. Add those two missing features and this will be the best subway map!

Native NYer, I tell everyone to get this app. I've lived here all my life and this is THE MOST USEFUL app for maximizing your efficiency while navigating the NYC subway. Don't listen to that person who complained about the map. The map is great. Seriously if you're always going to the same place on the same line why would you need to open this app more than once anyway? I digress -- this is the first place I check when taking a new route or having to transfer to any train while taking an unfamiliar route. Being in the right car to transfer or exit is CRUCIAL especially during busy times when everyone else is milling around unsure of what exit to take. Seriously GET THIS APP whether you're here for a trip or here for life.

the ONLY NYC transit app you need. With the addition of official MTA subway maps, this is the only NYC transit app you'll ever need. I've deleted the other subway apps from my iPhone. Not only does it have the subway maps that you get in other apps, but it also has street maps that show you exactly where the entrances and exits of the stations are. This means you'll never get lost above or below ground.

Outstanding app, for NYC locals or visitors. I've been using Exit Strategy for a while now, but the 2.0 update is huge. Bus maps are always a huge pain to access on the go, and now with the maps built-in and local to my iPhone, I'll always have them. The local region maps, particularly the way multiple maps are stitched together, are a big plus too. Of course the core functionality, telling me where to stand to get out of the subway station the easiest, is still the best part.

Best App For Navigating NYC. The previous app was good, but this app takes the concept to a whole new level. The addition of an actual subway map eliminates many of the quirks from the original version, and the expanded functionality (with the whole subway map plus bus maps) make this the only app you will ever need when navigating public transit in NYC. I can't recommend this enough.

Great app. When are you going to add the 2nd Ave Q line?. Then I will give you five stars. It’s been 3 years since your last update. I’ve contacted the developers about this and not heard back. It seems like this one is dead and not being updated. Still the best for what it is. But get with the times, you guys! The excited tone of your Hudson yards update (“the first addition to the system in many years!!!”) seems pretty lame when there has been another, more impactful and larger change since then. I still use it because there’s nothing better, but I sigh with frustration every time I go to the UES.

Really is the best app for NYC...PLEASE UPDATE!. I love knowing where to stand on the subway platform and avoid a crunch crowd upon exiting a car...easy breezy. I love everything about this app--the street location whereabouts, the running times of the trains, the list of the stations according to the subway line you pick, etc etc. App is LOADED with useful nyc-er tools. Needs an update to the lines and routes!!! And Neighborhood maps is blurry. UPDATE! Then 4-star goes back to 5. We need this app!

Good but not complete enough. I've had this app for about a week and think the idea is great. I sometimes used to ask mta employees where I should stand for a certain exit and am usually met by blank stares. However, yesterday when taking the R train, the program showed only one exit at City Hall, which I knew was wrong. It's like the makers of the program got lazy when they got to the local trains that travel mostly to the outer boros. Finish up the trek and make this program great!

An amazing app, finally updated!. I've long used this app to plan subway trips. It's like being an insider in the world of planned transfers and edits. And the fact the MTA doesn't want this information posted publicly in stations (there was a Daily News article on 2014 about them taking down such signs to prevent clustering) makes one feel like an insider. It hadn't been updated for years, making some station maps obsolete and the GUI buggy, but this latest update fixes it all! Thank you to the developers for an awesome and unique app!

Essential for any straphanger. I adore this app and use it almost every time I take the subway. Knowing the location of exits and transfers (and which exits go where) really can cut minutes (as well as stuffy walks along the platform) out of your trip. The app is simple, easy to use, and fast. I've never had a problem with functionality. Absolutely recommended.

2.0 Update Rocks!. This is one of my favorite subway apps thanks to the coveted exit data- but I always had to use it in conjunction with other apps that had a subway map. Not anymore! These guys added the real MTA map along with all the bus maps (which none of the other apps have). The interactive map is an awesome feature, as are the close-up neighborhood maps. Totally useful and definitely worth the $- this app has everything you'll need in a subway app!!

Amazing app, but know what you. This is an amazing app, but it's best for people who live in NYC - if you're looking for something that tells you how to get from A to B using public transport, other apps (esp. Hopstop) are better. This is a supplement, since it does a great job of (a) helping you figure out where to stand on the platform to be right by the exit when you get off the train (giving you the same efficiency you get on your daily commute on any public transport trip), and (b) helping you get where you're going once you get out of the subway. It can't be your only NYC public transit app, but it probably saves me 10 minutes in the average week. $5 to save 500 minutes a year? Slam dunk.

Still invaluable. As other reviewers have said, this app is in need of an update to reflect transit changes. THAT BEING SAID- this app is STILL invaluable. Ask any local: knowing which car will land you in front of the right exit for your destination will save you loads of valuable time when you’re traveling by subway. I’m holding out hope that an update will come before the app is truly obsolete. In the meantime, it remains my absolute go-to for traversing NYC.

Indispensable even 3+ yrs w/o update. I can’t tell you how many times this app has saved me from being late or missing a connection. If you’re an nyc commuter just get it, one of the most useful apps you’ll have. And note to the developer: please push an update if you can to make sure Apple doesn’t make some update to iOS that will render it incompatible which happened to a bunch of my apps a few years ago.

quintessential new yorker app. this program single-handedly convinced me to purchase an ipod touch. it has saved me much time and improved the likelihood of transfers throughout new york city's nebulous subway system. the original version has been greatly improved with new maps and station exits. where can they go from here? it could add, perhaps, Air Train or LIRR exits. but until then they've got an excellent program, and i highly recommend it to anyone who uses the nyc subway system.

Useful but flawed. I'm one of those people who love to position myself while waiting for a train so that when I eventually get off at my stop, I'm right at the exit. So I love this app. It also had stitched together all the MTA neighborhood maps (at least for Manhattan) which provides an excellent block-by-block view of the city, and even better, lets you see where the entrance/exit stairways are for all the stations. So you know you can get into the 18th Street 1-train station at 17th street, for example. The only problem is that the zoom function for the maps is completely fučked. Double-tap to zoom into an area of Manhattan and you pan up to Washington Heights every single time. Other times it gets stuck and just won't zoom at all, forcing you to go back and reselect the map you want to zoom in order to unstick it. And if you pinch to zoom, the map gets so blurry that it's unreadable. It's a shame that such an otherwise fantastic and useful app, it would be the best NYC subway app hands-down, is just plain broken. I'm still glad I bought it, but you might want to wait until the developers fix the hopelessly broken zoom before buying.

Great App, needs update. This app shows a real commitment to detail and was a huge amount of work. I use it virtually everyday as I am constantly going to different stations, so I probably use 30+ a week. Thus this app, which lets me get out of the system as quickly as possible is essential, especially given MTA delays. My one quibble is they need to update it. It's pre-Jan 1, 2017, so there's no 2nd Ave subway, W etc. Get a new version and I'm giving 5 stars.

Waste of money. I was looking for the app that tells you where to stand on the platform for the proper exit based on your address destination. This app is nothing more than a glorified subway map that tells you where the exits are at your subway stop. There is in an app out there somewhere, because I’ve seen it, where you put in the address of where you are going and it will tell you where on the train car to get on so that once you reach your subway stop, you will be closest to the exit of your destination. I wish I could remember the name of it. I thought was it. So basically with this app I paid $3.99 to get a subway map that I could get for free at my local subway station.

Made a great app even better. Version 1 was already useful and simple-to-use, telling you where to get on & off the subway to save time... Now that they've added the official subway map to pick stations from, and even neighborhood maps around the stations, it's that much more useful -- while still being easy to use. Simple + useful = winning formula.

Not perfect, but hits the spot. I lived in Tokyo for a couple years. They live for this kind of stuff. I've always wished for something similar in NYC. I've used the subway long enough I thought I had it down, but then I always get mixed up (wait was that Times Square exit the second door of third car or third door of second car?). Yeah it's not perfect, but still WELL worth $1.99 as it is. Together with iTrans NYC I'm all set. I'll be waiting for the London and Paris versions...

Love this app - needs an update. This app is really great for what it is, finding where to stand to make it efficiently out of the subway or to your transfer. I also love the offline neighborhood maps. They're really great for figuring out which stairway to take and planning where to go. There are a few things that need updating though. The map generally needs to be updated with subway changes. For example, the Jay st-metrotech connection has been open since February, but this app still doesn't show that. Also, the zooming feature is buggy as stated elsewhere. Double-tapping always brings you up to Washington Heights. Also, when zoomed out, the maps must be very low resolution as they're quite blurry. If these few things could be fixed, this app would be great. Some enhancement suggestions as well: -add service changes for nights/weekends/delays -add times for the trains If these 2 things were added, I wouldn't have a need for my other favorite subway app, Kickmap (highly recommended, by the way).

Ive lived in NYC for a year and still use this daily!. I VERY rarely buy paid apps, but this one I went for after a lot of deliberation, given the price. I had another (free) subway app which was basically just a zoomable version of the MTA map, and it left a bit to be desired. This app is fantastic if you have to switch lines a lot- I check it all the time to see what end of my first train I should be at for a smooth transition to my next train. Yeah, some of the lines are a little outdated, though i haven't had a problem with it. Remember this app was designed by a brother-sister team (I think?) who literally rode the rails, and presumably they have real lives now. If they're looking for a free intern to update, I'm available! Also, schedules for the bus and subways would be helpful.

What a Clever Program......And So Useful. I thought this was pretty clever of the authors so I wanted to reward that by making the purchase. What I didn't anticipate was how much I use this app. It sure does make it much easier on the feet by reducing the walking from one end of the station to the other, especially in summer days when it's like a sauna under ground. It also helps when you have a connection to make; it has enabled me to make more connections than before, when I would just miss one. Good job, JWeg Ventures!!

Not for tourists (who don't read maps). This is a great app that I use all the time. It saves me a lot of time and trouble on transferring and getting out of the subway in new neighborhoods. The only thing it's missing (for me) to make it a complete NYC transit map is train service advisories. And then, if it got bus schedules, it would be just about perfect. Still, by far the best NYC transit app I've tried and the one I use the most.

Good but not complete coverage. I like this little app and think it's very useful. However, I wish it would cover the entire MTA network. I need help when I use from my POV less frequented stations such as some outside Manhattan. This weekend I wanted to check on the exits at the Flatbush stop on the 2 line ( which is also the last stop. You take this to go to Rijs beach) and found that it covered the line only until Franklin Ave which is the last major hub but not the last stop for the 2,3,4 and 5 lines. I hope that an update will fill these gaps. So much work went already into this why stay stuck at 90% and not complete the last 10%? Especially since It's not a free app.

Doesn't cover entire subway system. I wish the developer would have indicated in the app's description that this program does NOT cover the entire subway system. Looking for an exit on the F-line past a certain point in Brooklyn yields nothing, and the same for the Q. If this was put in the description I could have saved myself the couple of bucks until the app had this info. So, it gets two stars. I'd give it one star but it is a great idea. I'm just angry that I had to purchase this to find out it doesn't cover all the stations, especially the ones I need. I hope this review helps out others wanting this info. When this app covers all stations, I will revise my review and give it the 4 stars it deserves.

Ultimate...as name says. Yearly visitor to NYC but even now I'm always "confused" once I exit an unfamiliar station and almost invariably walk in the wrong direction. Well no more! Great, easy to use app. Maps are clear and the station overviews are fantastic. So you not only can find your best exit once on a train but can find the nearest entrance from where you are on the street if needed. You have to know your exit station (no address search) but it is absolutely the best...even telling you which car to get into to be nearest your exit. Absolutely great that you don't need WiFi or 3GS to use this app. Worth every cent.

A New York City Essential. Even if you've lived in NYC for years, you need and will love this app! The exit diagrams are fabulous. We all forget which end of the train lets you out where and it's really a plus to have that info at your fingertips. The station area rmaps are the ones in the subways stations and are great for figuring out entrances and exits and nearby locations. Thanks for the hard work that went into this app!

Great effort went into creating this app and it shows!. Pros -Wonderful interface -Very easy to follow instructions displayed on an image showing the exit/entry points and 8/10-car trains -Covers a lot of stations -Works offline (without connecting to the 3G network) -Fun to use (specially if your leading a group and trying to impress your friends) Cons -It does not cover the entire system -I have not seen any updates since version 1.0 adding more station or fixing bugs (at least at time of writing this review Aug. 30, 2009)

Best Subway App. This is the best Subway App for New Yorkers. The content provided takes the subway riding experience to the next level. Those who want to cut down on the hot station walk in the summer or to save a few extra minutes this is for you. It also has all of the maps available for subway viewing ie no internet. This is one of the few apps written from a New Yorker perspective. Thank you

Great App, Terrible Updating. UPDATED for version 2.1: works well enough on my janky iPhone 3G running OS 4.0. Still a great transit app and less buggy than free apps with this much data - like NYCMate which crashes constantly for me. Still bummed at the late update, and the fact that the Brooklyn bus map took 6+ months to update when the B61/B62 split occurred, but that's just me kvetching. PS - why is the M Train still brown when you click on the actual line? Sloppy! Old Version 2.0Really useful app - having neighborhood maps has been great when using unfamiliar stations and being able to figure out where the best exit is in terms of avoiding crowds. But I was frustrated that there was no update to account for the B61/B62 bus changes, and I'm curious if the app will be updated to acknowledge the major revisions to MTA service that phase in starting today.

Indespensible for this NYC resident. ETA (Nov2017): have to ding a star because, as many other reviewers note, it hasn’t been updated for key subway changes. Still the best transit app for NYC even without the needed updates, but would love added functionality. I’d throw a little more cash their way for more updates. Now that they're updating the app again I can unequivocally state it's the transit app I use most often and most value. It doesn't give directions but it's otherwise invaluable for commuting and just being out and about around the 5 boroughs. Great value for the money.

Excellent.. Very handy, everything works as described. One request is for the ability to zoom out more for the neighborhood maps. Since the normal system map is distorted (by mta not just this app to make things looks nice and spread out) it would make this feature a little more useful for seeing when a train change is or isn't actually beneficial. Example in Manhattan is the ACE/123.. Only one long block difference.

Tired of Waiting for Subway Schedules. I'm very upset with the developers of this app and want my money back. They say "Coming soon in version 3.0: subway schedules!" I've had the app for over 6 months and they still haven't added subway schedules. This is a straight up lie and false advertising. One of the reasons I chose this app over another was because of the promised schedules so I'm disappointed. There's also an annoying bug. If you double tap to zoom in, It zooms in on a completely different part of the map (always up and to the left). The only effective way to zoom in is through pinching which is annoying if you want to one hand it.
