Trust me, this Deer won’t hurt you like the Owl. Alright so look, we all know that persistence is key in most things - the more you practice something, the easier it becomes etc etc. But unlike the Owl who threatens you, this Deer just calmly reminds you to come back and practice - and not just that, the exercises are actually engaging and you get to critique yourself by reading it aloud and then playing it back to you. Also, even if you don’t know the answer to one of the questions, you can press the little volume-looking button and it will read it to you as like a hint. I’m not even paying for the app but I think I actually will in the near future because I’ve actually learned more (while not paying) than I did in my middle school Spanish 1-2 So, if you’re still on the fence, I’d say just try it. It’s free, wont cost you anything. But I can guarantee like 80%-90% of y’all will actually make progress with this app, like I have.

LingoDeer is like Duolingo but more efficient and with a much better review system. I don’t usually write reviews for apps, but this is possibly my favorite language learning app out of the numerous that I’ve tried out. It has certain elements that remind me of Duolingo, but it is much more efficient and doesn’t waste your time in the way that Duolingo does. It’s gamified, but the developers don’t put the gamification ahead of your actual learning. I also like the review system a lot better than what most apps have, it seems a lot more efficient (though you’ll still want to use an SRS when it comes to memorizing mass amounts of words later on). Overall LingoDeer seems like a great introduction to a language, most of the courses seem to go up to a B1 level in terms of grammar and key vocab, which is perfectly fine as you really need to engage with native content at that point anyway. Apps can only take you so far. Definitely give LingoDeer a try if you’re looking to begin a new language!

WORTH IT!! 💖. Honestly, I’ve been learning Korean for a few months through websites and videos, but because the videos and websites didn’t go together, I wasn’t really getting things. I didn’t have a system or structure to learn things in since I didn’t know where to look and practically watched/read anything I could find. I was starting to get unmotivated about studying until I asked a friend of mine what she used to study Korean and she recommended me this app. I remember hearing about LingoDeer before through my fav polyglot YouTuber, iKenna, so I thought “why not check it out?”. BEST DECISION EVER. I tried the first few lessons for free and although it was pretty easy, I wanted more. I skimmed over the lesson topics and checked the membership prices to debate if I should buy it. Eventually I caved in because 1)year long membership was on sale 2) if my favorite polyglot YouTuber used it and recommends it, I trust him. And 3) My friend can hold an intermediate level convo in Korean now. I can tell you for sure that after I got the membership and unlocked all the lessons, I have been glued to this app. I never feel unmotivated to log in each day and learn, I actually get excited and I love how there’s stories at the end of each lesson! I can spend as little as 5/10 minutes on this app to a whole hour! So if you’re wondering if it’s worth it... it is!! Go buy yourself a membership!! Now!!!

Helps better than Duolingo!! (Russian). So, I love this app, and it helps me with learning a new language stat! I am currently learning Russian and it is a blast!! It is way better then Duolingo, I tried learning Russian with Duolingo and it just didn’t work. It mad everything complicated, with Lingodeer they start you off slow. I would have changed my German course on Duolingo but, I am a little too far to quit and try again. I was trying to find a new language app for Russian and I found this one! It had great reviews and the stars are high! And, when I got on the app, it was the best!! I have 3 different language apps that help me. This one, Duolingo, and Memrise. 2/3 help me with the languages! So far, this app has not been any cause of trouble to me! It’s so good!!!! On my Duolingo I got hacked and lost everything and I had to start over! This one is just better! Thank you for making this app! I love it so much!

Love It But.... I love this app with all my heart. It is so good at teaching me Japanese and this is the only app that has the right teaching style for me. It’s the perfect blend of fun and structured learning, and let alone it is all completely free besides a few in app purchases. This has been helping me study Japanese way better than any book can, however recently this app has been really laggy and hasn’t been responding up to par. My progress bar isn’t loading and progressing at the same speed as I am learning and it just stays empty, my achievements are screwed up (I have been at level 10 for a couple days and still haven’t gotten my achievement for reaching level 10 yet) and usually when achievements do come they are always a day late, I get random achievements every so often like “congrats on reaching 5 hours of study time” even though at the point I was already at 8 hours, and recently my review section has only been including 5 lessons instead of the 10+ I have completed and need to review for. Like I said, this app is the best thing that has come into my life, but I can’t rate it the 5 stars it deserves unless these bugs are fixed. I will still thank all the developers for putting their time and money to make this app for all those who want to learn its selection of languages.

Love it !. I have been learning Korean for about a month now and I am SO impressed and happy with my experience. I made the commitment to get the premium and it is WELL worth the effort and price as I’ve come so far in my learning journey. It has so many resources and I enjoy the way it records your progress and my being able to go back to any lesson I may need to. It’s hard learning another language but I really can’t express enough how much I enjoy this easy to navigate and interactive learning experience! Korean language isn’t offered at my school nor is it offered unless I’m willing to pay a lot for online studying which I don’t have time for considering my other full course load, SO it’s really nice to be learning what feels like a classroom setting and at my own pace. Best part is i have it unlimited to any language and lifetime access and I will continue to put this to use. ☺️ THANK YOU LingoDeer ❤️

A cocktail of language learning apps!!. I’ve had at least 10 different apps at once for learning Japanese. One for just vocabulary, one for kanji, one for hiragana, one for katakana, one for sentence structure, one for writing, I could go on! LingoDeer is all those apps blended into one easy to understand app with interactive activities and games to play, and more! This app really has helped me out. I’m an outbound exchange student (to be) and I’d definitely recommend this app if you plan on traveling anywhere. It’s not just for Japanese! Duolingo May have the memes and the popularity, but that app is just taking a word and memorizing it. Not getting a breakdown of what it means, not telling us how to put it into a sentence, nada. Lingo deer not only teaches you words(and has a whole section on vocabulary in their lessons), but it also teaches you sentence structure and how to set up a sentence. This app is a God-send I swear it’s amazing. Some apps aren’t even half this good, and they make you pay a monthly fee. While lingo deer plus does have a few more features, all the free stuff is still better than any other app I’ve had!!

Great so far!. I am a beginner in Mandarin. I take a class in high school for mandarin but some aspects (like memorization for example) are too fast while others (grammar and pronunciation) are too slow. This is a very good app if you are learning in a class or even self-studying but need that extra guidance as well as the ability to go at your own pace. It’s good so far! I’m very impressed. I used to used Duolingo but Deerlingo is much more catered to learning Mandarin and these other Asian languages, in my opinion. I might take up Japanese if I can keep up in Mandarin!! Highly suggested on my part. Try it, and if it’s not catered to your learning style, keep looking! Don’t give up on learning a language. That’s the worst mistake a language learner can make. I’ll update on how I like this app in the future. (Also; a suggestion for future updates might be linguistic study to determine the accuracy of a user’s pronunciation when recording.) Thanks!

My absolute favorite!. Great lessons! LingoDeer is my favorite app for learning Korean; I really feel as though LingoDeer excels in teaching languages with a structure different from the romance languages and it does a good job of succinctly explaining particles for English speakers who may be unfamiliar with the concept. Also love the points and leveling systems. A five star app, but I do have some requests/suggestions for the developers! As far as room for improvement, some of the learning cards, I think, could be longer (elaborating on uses of -은/는 vs. -이/가, for example), but overall, they get across the points that they need to. I would love an option for quizzes with write-in answers only so I could work on my spelling and grammar on my own more often! Also, not sure if I just can’t find it or if it’s not on the iOS version, but I would also love a dark mode. That being said, this is still a great app that has high quality lessons. Five stars for the quality of content and effort by the devs, but would love some consideration for new features!

it’s okay.. i’m currently learning german for my religion to keep going on as my oma is the only one in my family who knows german—but you don’t need to know my life story. well, let’s start from the top. the first thing i see is it requesting me to translate a word i hadn't even learned yet. i think it would be helpful if it taught me the translation first, showed me how to pronounce it, spell it, and then test me if i knew the word or sentence afterwards. but no. i was anxious, i didn’t want to get it wrong. yet i did, and that really frustrated me if i’m being honest. i went on with the app because i wanted to understand it and give it another chance as i just started using the app. which i did—and still am. although i got angry because i got it wrong, i learned the word, and the pronunciation because of the correction. it DOES continue to make me translate words without them showing it to me first which kind of frustrates me but it’s fine. i may seem overdramatic but i learn in a certain way. you ACTUALLY have to teach it to me. i guess the corrections help in ways, but it makes me so frustrated to the point where i can’t be comfortable learning german because of how anxious i get of getting the word or sentence wrong. i do have to say, this app has great qualities and features, it just needs a little upgrade , you know? thanks for reading my review.

Amazing but huge problem. I’ve been using LingoDeer to learn korean, and honestly it’s amazing not only does it teach grammar rules it keeps you kind of updated on the current uses and which generation more associates with it. Although there is one problem, I was in the middle of learning verbs when the new update came out... I was fine with it so I updated it then when it finally finished and I tried to go back to studying all my progress was lost, it just a blank screen I tried switching languages to see if it was just a problem with the first screen but no, there were no lessons at all. I then tried to reset my device over and over it still didn’t work, finally I decided to log out and try logging back in. They kept saying there’s an error so I should try back another time, I was deflated and left it for a while before coming in again to try once again the app wasn’t working. In the end I was just going to make a new account and just test out all the topics so I could get back to where I was, as I made the new account and selected my language, the lessons still did not show. I’m deflated on what to do and I hope LingoDeer can fix this problem because no one knows what to do.

Handicapped without a membership.. I’m not sure if this is just me. I looked through the reviews and everybody said good things about the in-app purchases; that they weren’t necessary and you could learn without them. I was learning Japanese, I finished “Alphabet” and “Nationality,” the first two lessons. Immediately when I tried to go on to the third it asked me to get a membership. I was confused, I thought this app was supposed to allow me to learn without paying! I tried redoing the previous lesson, and it did nothing. When I clicked on the button that said the lesson was locked it just pulled up the “buy put thing please.” page. I have no intention of spending on this app, but from what I did see it has a nice style and great way of teaching. Im just extremely upset that I was mislead into thinking I could use this app without having to pay. I’d definitely recommend Duolingo over this app; the only purchases are to remove adds. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Why the hell do all the reviews say that I can go through without paying? I’m so confused.

I really love the app but bit disappointed. Hello I’d like to say that I really like this app I had just gotten it yesterday. I’m planning on learning Korean to get my mind off of entering middle school and also because I really love the language. The app over all is good and I like how you are able to do a few lessons before it gives you the option to pay monthly or Annual it is really nice. But I was hopping it was free since I’m a broke kid. But luckily I discussed with my mother and she might allow me to use birthday money that I’m saving up for next year to proceed using this app. Even though I might not be able to continue using this app it was a very nice app while I was using it. I’d like to thank the developers and creators I’d really recommend this app to anyone one who wants to learn some of the languages it gives to learn. But you need to know that it’ll cost money if you want to move on but it is over all very good 👌・ω・.

It’s the nicest and the most beautiful app l’ve ever seen 🥰😌. Honestly l don’t know how l can express this nice thing but it is very, very useful🤩😌💙my purpose is to learn many languages in a short time and here l ‘ve started doing that Thanks to him, I discovered that I am able to learn more than one language at one time in one program without taking any teaching courses. I thought that I could not learn the language under the current circumstances, so I lost hope, but one day I discovered this application and it was like a miracle for me When I was looking for a site or video that teaches what language I want, I did not find the system. Learning for this, I did not learn anything mentioned, and I currently do not see any problem in it, and if I see it I will inform you about it For this, I thank everyone who worked on this very nice and useful program. I thank you for all the efforts made for the sake of the customer's convenience.

Lovely app, but disappointed.. I was very excited to use this app because it was such a highly praised alternative from Duolingo. However I was extremely disappointed to find out that only the alphabet and nationality basics were available (Japanese) before you had to sign up for premium. As someone who already knows how to speak/read in both the free categories, the app was in a sense very pointless. I loved the way it taught you, I can tell there is a lot of care that was put into the app and just ads won’t suffice to pay professionals and sustain a well managed language platform. However there was such little available and I don’t want to spend too much on this app since I don’t have the money. I don’t mind it being mostly unavailable, if only LingoDeer made it more clear that their lessons are not free disregarding the small introductory lessons. Perhaps even give a download fee just to get the point across that this is not a “free” app. Hopefully in the future I will be able to purchase the premium version, as once again the way it taught you was my preferred among other language apps, including Duolingo for a few months. But currently it is far too much and I’ll now turn to other learning alternatives.

Very good but room for improvement. I’m at about 40% through level 1 and the glitches are getting pretty annoying. There is a feedback window, but for all of the times when I have reported incorrect scoring or problems with the user interface I’ve never gotten an acknowledgment or any indication that anyone is reading my messages. On DuoLingo I regularly received messages back either telling me that my response is now included as a correct response, or a reason why it is considered incorrect. Duolingo did not have any of the wonky interface issues that this app has. Sometimes it’s impossible to place a tile where it needs to go so I just give up and submit an incorrect response just to move on. Or you need three tiles to form the correct answer and there are only two spaces. Many other instances that are frustrating. Finally, I usually study at night and I like the dark background, until I finish a lesson and get sent back to the screens with blinding white backgrounds - ouch!!! All that said, it is a very good learning tool if the UI were better it would be a 5!

Good app but still limited. I’m a native English speaker using LingoDeer to learn Japanese. The courses are very well thought out and thorough, however the most important part of learning a language is practicing what you learned and LingoDeer is lacking in this regard (before you get to the fluent section, which is really good). The flash cards use fake spaced repetition (actually not spaced, but sorted into 3 buckets. If you say a card is easy you’ll never see it again!). There also just seems to be less emphasis on practicing and mastery as a whole since the sentences and exercises you see in the practice section are exactly the same as those in the lessons, resulting in a system where you see some vocab words in only one or two sentences. I would expect for there to be more sentences/contexts for vocab in a service as expensive as this one. As good as the lessons are, the lack of real spaced repetition and sentence variety really decreases the effectiveness of this app in my opinion being that the flash card system is the only way to practice translating full sentences. Hopefully they consider adding real spaced repetition and other practice features because I think that would really vault LingoDeer to a 10/10 language learning service.

Great app. This is a great app to learn a new language. I am currently learning Korean and plan to learn Japanese and Spanish later down the road. I’ve tried other language learning apps like DuoLingo, but I learn better when the lessons are more structured. I like how before each lesson, LingoDeer has a “Learning Tips” page so that you could get an idea of what will be focused on in the coming lessons. I also like how you can review through quizzes, vocabulary and grammar note cards. All around, it is a great app, but there could always be improvement. For example, the app should be free and anyone who wants more, can pay for different add-ons (like the LingoDeer+ app). I don’t think it’s fair for the customers to pay for the main course, as well as the add-ons, when there are other language learning apps out there for free. Yet, I do understand that the money is used for quality services because seriously, this app is great! So I do see both sides. Another thing may be to have a feature where we could talk to real language experts in order to practice conversational skills. (Again, this could be an added on feature that customers could pay for). I find myself not being that confident in this area, and I’m not sure if I’m speaking correctly unless someone else corrects me. Or, have a podcast (add-on feature) on what are the best tips and procedures in learning a language. I think this may make up for making the app free. But what do I know?🤣

Best language app ever!. I’ve been using this app a lot to improve my Korean and Chinese and I can easily say this is my favourite app for this I’ve ever found!! The format is very clean and modern, extremely easy to use, and the audio is so clear! It makes learning very intimidating languages much easier and helps keep me motivated. I liked it so much I bought the premium version, and even though it’s a little expensive it’s worth every penny and if you count how many languages you get it’s less than the price of one physical book. My only wish is that you could unlock all levels at once and I really wish they had a crash course for like daily conversations because I would like to learn how to describe the weather and other phrases to use right away before I learn to say things like red apple or mother in law which are less useful immediately. But seriously 5/5 and I swear the app just keeps improving and getting better! Love it!

Amazing. This is the best app for learning Korean I can find out there. Much much much better than competitors such as Duolingo. Duolingo is not as good because it feels like an aging app that is kind of clunky, has robotic voices for voiceovers, and is very “gamified”, which slows everything down with little cutesy animations and activities that really just slow down my progress. Deer lingo feels way more professional, to the point. I have tried everything, including talk to me in Korean, Korean class 101, but those aren’t as good, because they are like textbook, they are just recorded audio lessons someone made, and not really interactive, so it gets somewhat boring at times. With deer lingo, you are always interacting with challenges, questions you click answers to, and doing activities to learn, which is best way to learn. I really like how it can teach grammar and vocabulary at the same time, and that , since the recent expansion to the program, it has more Korean lessons. It feels like a very dynamic app, that is constantly and recently improving. The free version is great, and the paid one you just pay once for a very low/reasonable fee. Of note, once you pay once for the app, you get the whole program, including all the many languages the app has. I don’t think I have written an app review in a very long time, I just had to give a shout out to this amazing program.

我喜欢这个应用程序！. ^^ That says I love this app! I’ll admit I had to look up how to write ‘app’ in Chinese but hey, the rest I was able to do after only the first 3-4 lessons of Chinese. I took Japanese in college for 2 years and picked it up fairly quick but this app helped keep me going and practicing after graduating. I decided to use it for learning Russian too, and it’s been very useful with clear pronunciation that you can listen to at actual full speed or a little slower if you need. Finally, I decided to give Chinese a go because I’ve wanted to learn it forEVER and I thought how hard could this be I already took Japanese for 2 years. Well, I’ll tell you, it’s VERY difficult to just ‘start’ learning Chinese because anywhere I looked didn’t explain pinyin OR tone! Crazy that I’d never been able to find good explanations for those BASIC parts of learning Chinese. THAT IS, until this app came along. LingoDeer is worth every penny and more, it is an essential tool in the shed for anyone learning any of their offered languages, in or out of a classroom. I can’t give it a more glowing review. If you’re doubtful, please just do it! You will love it. Read the other reviews, they aren’t lying!!! Thank you developers!!

Worth it!!. I’ve only been using this app everyday for about a week now, but the amount of words and sentences that I have learned is amazing. I am using the app to learn Korean. For the beginner level, the app teaches you sentences in an “add on” approach, as in you learn a word or sentence and then add more/different words to change the meaning slightly. For instance, you’d learn how to say “Korean”, then “Korean person”, then “I am a Korean person”, etc until you’re making full sentences. This way, you are able to learn new things without forgetting what you’ve already learned previously. There are pop quizzes you can take, and you can even review your lessons in story form so you can apply what you have learned to real conversation. If you are diligent with your learning and use the app to its fullest, you won’t be disappointed. Best of luck with your studies!

Amazing! Also, something I’d like to be fixed.. This is hands down the best app I’ve used for learning a different language, Japanese specifically. I could go on and on, it’s just incredible. I tried learning Japanese last summer and failed miserably, nothing I used helped work for me. This summer I tried going back to it, and I used Duolingo at first. It was good, but I wish I had used this app sooner! Someone recommended it to me and I fell in love instantly! It makes it so much fun, and maybe it’s since I’m just passionate about learning the language, but still! It has all these fun lessons and games, and makes everything very interesting. I’ve only used it for Japanese, but from the rest of the reviews, I can see it’s an amazing app all in all, no matter what you want to learn! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this app for anyone wanting to learn a new Asian language! And I want to give a big thanks to the developers! You guys have done an amazing job! On another note, I’d like to say that there’s something I’ve run into recently that’s kind of bugging me. During the Pop Quizzes, sometimes if I write the answer wrong and try to erase it, the letters will disappear and I can’t finish the answer. Like, if I write “わした” instead of “わたし” and I go to erase “し“ and “た”, one of the two wont go back to my keyboard, so I can’t write it down correctly. I hope you guys look into it because it’s becoming a bit annoying! Thank you! ^_^

Still needs decent SRS. I’ve been using this for years and it’s very good, with one glaring exception, which is the flash cards. They really need to put in actual SRS options for those - memorization is crucial for longer term retention and as it is I have to manually copy the cards into Anki to get results, which is a pain and takes forever since I can’t even copy the actual text from the app. They say it’s SRS but it isn’t, which is aggravating - they’re just dumb flash cards, no dynamic timing, no separation of listening/reading/speaking skills, etc. Good sentences, once they’re in Anki, but useless before then. The grammar is very nice, puts it way before duolingo and Rosetta, but the pacing also gets a little weird in the second “chapter” - you’re learning some weird advanced words like “burnable garbage” and the grammar specifics of doing favors for people before you’ve even gotten to if-then conditionals. Wouldn’t be that big a deal though if didn’t have to copy all this stuff into another app just to remember it properly. They added some “ongoing content” in their fluent section which is awesome, but I wish they didn’t focus so hard on themed “stories” and had more options for just brute-force sentence variation practice. Just a bunch of different sentences by grammar type is fine, I don’t gotta have a whole cute story to go with it.

BEST language learning program yet!. I am a language enthusiast and have tried many different programs over the years but none have come close to LingoDeer. My biggest complaint with most language learning programs is that there are no explanations provided for rules or grammar. LingoDeer in stark contrast provides wonderful grammar lessons in easy to comprehend sheets. For English speakers, there are quite a few languages to choose from (though, as of now, not as many as some other applications) and the exercises are quick, fun, and, most importantly, effective! The review quizzes are a wonderful feature providing a quick and easy way to make sure you’re retaining everything you’ve learned so far. The stories and social features are a fun and unique addition that also add to your understanding of the language. I also feel that the app is very accessible in the free version and the $30 lifetime payment is very reasonable compared to the full versions of other apps with costly subscriptions which add up over time. The only thing I would suggest for the LingoDeer team is the addition of a setting where you can turn off strictly listening exercises, since users not always using the app in situations where they can play/hear phone audio. Overall, this is the best language app I have come across from Duolingo to Rosetta Stone and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this for anyone who is serious about language learning and development. Be a Deer and give this a try yourself! :)

The best language app for learning Korean. This is the best language app I’ve found for getting started with Korean vocabulary and grammar. Nothing else even comes close. I would highly recommend it if Korean is your target language. It is well worth the cost. All of the other apps I’ve tried felt like their Korean language tracks were incomplete or not designed with a language like Korean in mind. You can tell that LingoDeer got its start with Southeast Asian languages because it does such a good job teaching them. And if you are interested in any of the other languages on the platform, I still think that LingoDeer will likely do a better job than any other app. I have only spent a lot of time with Korean, but I have compared Arabic across a few different language learning apps as well and the way the script and the language was introduced on LingoDeer was so much better than anywhere else.

I don’t approve of the membership system. This really is a great app, at least for learning Korean. Although I could already read 한글 coming into the app, a brief skim of the alphabet explanation revealed that it was far more in depth than any other app I’ve tried. I love the way the lessons are set up, and I especially love the option to disable romanization, since that usually hinders me rather than helping. The videos are great too, since they demonstrate sentence fluency while speaking. My only issue is the paid membership aspect. I understand that the developers need money, and I love the lack of ads, but I don’t like the idea that my progress could be halted when I reach lessons that are exclusive to premium members. It just doesn’t seem fair. Instead, couldn’t the developers make in-app purchases for freezing streaks/buying cute outfits for the deer like Duolingo does? It would just be nice to have access to the full curriculum without paying for it, as I happen to be broke and unable to become a premium member.

Better than my tutor. I tried this app a couple years back for Korean but wasn’t able to get into it—it just felt overwhelming at the time for whatever reason though I’m sure it was probably just me personally blocking myself. This year I decided to give it another try after testing out several other leaning apps and I’m so happy I gave it a second chance! This time around I am much more open minded and able to appreciate the app. To put it into perspective, I had a private tutor and I was able to learn a lot more by studying with this app in one hour than I did with my tutor over the course of half a year!!! Granted it probably has to do with my personal preference in learning as I’m an impatient learner so I really appreciated LingoDeer’s approach of learning by doing. Additionally, the lessons’ structure is really what I needed, as it really builds upon prior lessons so I’m able to connect the dots much easier. My two negatives is that the sound tends to lag sometimes so it’ll either not play unless I press on volume icon or it’ll cut off. Another is that the reading exercises, while great, sometimes introduce new vocabulary that wasn’t learned so it discouraged me very quickly. Neither are super big cons to me, and I still absolutely love this app and it’s effectiveness so I definitely recommend!!!

excellent beginning language app. Traveling a lot to Asia encouraged me to start learning Japanese. I have been thoroughly enjoying this app for a few months and am done with 56% of the Japanese lessons. (I hope more lessons will be added in the near future.) I like the fact that there is a Test Out mode because it forces me to make sure I know the previous lessons well enough to continue on to more lessons. I began with practically no knowledge of Japanese and feel I have progressed very well and can pick up words and sentences when I listen to the native speakers conversing with each other. I have just started to play around with Mandarin and am learning quickly. I like that this program teaches how to write characters since it is a good reinforcement tool. I can foresee continuing from here onwards (along with continuing Japanese.) I do see myself completing Japanese (and eventually Mandarin) since I am still having fun and still think Lingodeer is a very useful learning tool.

85 days into my streak and still going. This language learning app is amazing. The learning tips section, featured at the beginning of every section, is very useful and comprehensive. Duolingo has something similar but that can only be accessed on the website itself, not the app. The pace of learning is really nice and bite-sized so I don’t feel overwhelmed. The fact that it teaches grammar as well as vocabulary simultaneously is great. I love the reading comprehension questions, I love the matching and I love that is focuses on speaking practice as well. When it comes to learning a language, especially an Asian one, you must also learn how to change your thinking so that you can pick up this language better/ more naturally. I think this app achieves that. Personally I have not noticed any glitches, but even if there are some it doesn’t diminish the fact that this app has one of the best teaching styles out there for learning an Asian language.

An app that functions as a textbook, workbook and classmate. I really like this app. It's focus on consistently incorporating grammar points and new word help to natural build vocabulary and the ability to speak. I use this as a second study course to my one on one lessons in Korean, an introduction to Chinese and a review of Spanish and it works well for all of those things. I really appreciate the review tools and stories but feel there might be a little bit of room for improvement. The "weak, good, perfect" system for review is a little bit of a black box and a spaced repetition system may work a little better or just a way to export vocabulary lists. I also wish there was a little more listening practice with longer sentences where you can not see the multiple choice options until after listening or where you have to answer questions like in the stories. Overall this is still my go-to language learning app and it's definitely worth the money.

Vocabulary/translation improvement. In the Japanese module (could be for the other languages too), vocabulary is categorized based on the lesson it was introduced. I think you all should really consider a more intuitive approach to vocabulary than that. For instance, let’s say I wanted to review all the animals in my vocabulary. Ideally I would go to the category “Animals”. Right now that category is “Humans and Animals 1” and it only lists two animals….Sometimes I want to review ONLY the verbs I've learned. That is not an option. Same with adjectives. Everything is all mixed together making it difficult to dial in on specific vocabulary. Please consider changing the categories. Things like Food, Adjectives, activities, places, verbs, etc For the translation piece, some sentences are not correctly translated from Japanese to English. An example “田中さんは今喫茶店でコーヒーを飲んでいます” the English translation uses “having” instead of “drinking”. “Tanaka San is having a coffee at the cafe right now.” Please stop doing that. It is confusing especially when the direct translation makes perfect sense.

A great app for learning some languages. This app is awesome! I'm using this to begin my journey with German and I definitely think it's worth what I'm paying for it. It gives thorough grammar notes at the beginning of each lesson and covers some good topics while providing great vocabulary. I'm not very far in the app since I want to take my time (plus I'm a lazy learner), but I like it and depend on it. I'm hoping to become at least conversationally fluent in german within 8 months and I think this will lead great into my next method of learning (Assimil). The only downside I've noted so far is the lack of variety this app has in choosing your language, but it's still pretty young and definitely much better than duolingo mobile. Oh, and another thing is I'd like to have the option to type in my answers instead of having to click the letters every time so I can memorize the words better and type faster, since each lesson takes awhile to get through.

Great app. This app is amazing and has been very helpful. There are some flaws I’d like to see worked out, particularly being in order to brush up on stuff from previous lectures you have to actually go back to that section. For example, if I am on Japanese level 2 and wish to go over stuff I’ve learned in Japanese 1 because I’ve forgotten it or want to keep myself from forgetting it I have to open Japanese 1 again. I wish that stuff was kept together in order to more seamlessly go over stuff from other modules in the same language. It isn’t the biggest gripe, but it would be helpful. Also, while I love the videos you can watch at the end that are basically short stories or dialogue by a native speaker you don’t have the option to click on words individually and have to replay the whole sentence again. It’s kind of annoying. But these gripes are meant to be nothing more than constructive criticism. They don’t ruin the app. It’s an incredibly useful tool and I have recommended it to friends. I love the UI, the way the lectures are laid out, and the way things are ordered. Then there’s all the other little extra tools that help with remedial trailing. It’s great.

Upset. I at first had a app called drops that I used to try and help me learn korean. It wasn’t working that well for me so I wanted to try and find another app. I happened to stumble upon this and at first thought it was the best thing ever. From having a almost 5 star review, and TONS of good reviews I wanted to try it out. I read so many of the reviews and almost all of them talked about how this was the best app ever and that it was “free.” Do literally yesterday I downloaded the app and did the first lesson of nationality. (I already know the korean alphabet). Just from using this app for such a small time I loved it. It had things that seemed like would really help me such as the tips which I found VERY helpful. Then here I am on the last part of nationality doing the story. I did everything and tried to move on to the next lesson. When I did I got worried because it kept of saying that you needed pro. I thought that maybe it was just that lesson or that maybe I hadn't finished the lesson before. Nope checked every lesson after that one and all of them said pro and then I knew I did the lesson before right. It has me so mad because I really can’t afford the amount of money for one month. I saw every where of people saying this app was free. You get literally maybe 2 lessons before you have to pay. I honestly really loved this app but I’m now really upset to know a big chance for me went down the drain.

best learning app ever!. i’m someone who struggles with a learning disability making it harder for me to learn languages. which is a real shame because i really like k pop. i sort of started to teach myself on my own with the songs but i couldn’t read actual korean, which is sort of needed in the community. Out of all the apps i’ve tried, this one works REALLY well! they’re very rewarding and seeing the sad little deer makes you wanna try harder when you fail! not to mention the overall design is easy on the eyes! and there’s videos to help you read and speak the language!! duolingo didn’t have that. like tf how am i supposed to know if i’m saying it correctly?? i just wish there was a way they could tell you if your pronunciation is close to the other persons, instead of comparing and contrasting and hearing your own voice over and over again. i know it’s hard to program these things, but it would be sooo beneficial in the end. i stumbled upon this app on a whim and i’m glad i did! i never wanna use another app again for korean TT^TT

Best App for Korean 💕. I have other apps like Drops or Memrise that are good for vocab words but they struggle when it comes to sentences and they still have a hard time using only 한글, which is essential for learning correctly. With LingoDeer, however, the romanizations were gone right away(you can choose to turn them on if you wish), and I could test up to the level where I was at in my learning! I can always go back and complete any of the old levels for review, and the tips before each of the lessons are really helpful. My other favorite thing is the sentences, they are broken down easily, you can listen and look at each individual word, and you have listening options for voice speed. Plus, the voice sounds perfectly natural and very clear. This app is really helpful if you want to get a good grasp of 한글 and Korean sentence structure! I’ve literally told all my friends who are learning Korean, Chinese, or Japanese to get this app because I love it!! Thank you!!

Better Than Duo for Chinese Beginners. This is a great app for complete beginners studying the languages it offers, because this app is clean, informative, and has no health bar or penalty for mistakes. Duolingo is a great app I use for Spanish, but throws you into Chinese without much information and you get frustrated quickly when your health bar is always empty. Lingodeer has been far more enjoyable in learning Chinese. No health bar and far more information and instruction, both before you start a lesson and during the lesson on selecting sounds and word meanings. You can choose how the app looks and what words/symbols you want displayed during lessons. The drawing characters is a little unresponsive sometimes, but that’s a very minor detail and surely will be improved as the app gets better. Also, this is all free. Edit: Sometimes the story classes don’t end cleanly and just show a blank question at the end, but it’s a minor problem I’ve come across. Still an amazing app and a big thank you to everyone involved with it!

Love it, but please add better strengthening practice. Compared to the competition LingoDeer is the best,hands down. However, please consider adding more features. The strengthening aspect of this app is what needs the most work, at the moment I rarely come back to the app because of it. It’s really hard to strengthen specific things (without going back through all the modules to see which you need to study). Why is there no way to see and pick different things like specific grammar points to practice? There is no way to know “what needs strengthening”. You’ve added a review at the end of a class but it does nothing? And usually even if I find the lesson really difficult, the questions are easily guessed so I can get 100%. So you must solve that before adding the features. Please consider improving these aspects, if you do, you could really set a new standard for the industry. Thank you.

Korean- best app, tried most of them, don’t expect improvements. Pros: Teaches you who what when where and why you use certain words. Very easy to learn new sentences and sentence structures. There was only one chapter that I had to repeat a few times due to difficulty. Cons: terrible for learning new vocabulary words. There is flash card practice (separate from main lesson) which is nice, but it doesn’t drill speaking or typing, so it’s very easy to forget the word you just answered 5 seconds ago. And most of the time it will repeat the same question back to back just in audio form, so you’re not forced to memorize it, then it moves onto the next word. Overall it’s the only app that doesn’t require 10 other apps to learn Korean. Well worth the monthly price but… There has been no improvements over the last 6 months, and I don’t see a reason for them to improve until their rating drops. They’re offering a lifetime membership so the proof is in the pudding. There will be no improvements other than bug/interface fixes until they have a monetary incentive to add anything.

I love it SO much but I have a request. Lingodeer is the best language learning program I've ever come across. It matches all of my standards because it allows me to actually understand the language and become fluent. It has thorough grammar explanations and more explanations you need to know about different parts of the language. Once you finish a lesson, you can go back to the review section and select what all you want to review, and it will tell you what your weak points are after you finish. Overall, it's an amazing app; it's fun to use, teaches you necessary material, and the price is great to unlock all of the languages' courses. I currently use it to learn Vietnamese, but I will be learning the other languages it offers as well. Lastly, my request: If it's possible, I would love for the developers to add more languages to the app because no matter how hard I look, I can't find another language program to teach me additional languages as well as Lingodeer teaches its courses. I would love to see courses for languages like Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog, etc. Nevertheless, the app is great with what it does have (and it does have quite a variety already!)

Amazing and Helpful game!. This game really helped me to understand the language I wanted to learn. I didn’t know a single thing about it and was pretty much guessing with other language apps but this one is very helpful in breaking down how to understand the alphabet and many key words you might need when you visit another country. There are in app purchases to get more levels and better learning and if you want to be fluent then you might want to buy it for a month or something but they don’t force you to they just make the ad pop up a lot. Other than that, there are no lives and you can get answers wrong unlike some other language learning apps. They also give you a chance to say the sentences and words to help you learn it better. Overall, this app is great and if you don’t have it you should definitely get it!

There’s potential but the paywall is way too early. I understand the need for paywalls, particularly in sophisticated apps where there’s a lot of hard work put in by the developers. But there’s also a need to balance that with giving the customer enough to tell whether the product is worth their hard earned dollars. The two free lessons are the alphabet and nationality-most people who’ve tried to pick up the language for an hour or two on any other system have covered this and there’s so little vocab at this point that the answers are obvious. And the alphabet is a poor indicator of what the rest of the system will look like regardless. So the system looks like it might be good but who’s to say since I can’t test it against material I’m not already familiar with? Even expanding this to an additional lesson or two (the determiner/possessive) would greatly increase the ability to get a sense for the flow of lessons in this app—the very next lesson seems to have a different section “learning tips” that I didn’t try in the previous one. Will every lesson be in a completely different format from the previous one? At this point I can’t tell. Given there seem to be some sixty or seventy lessons in the first level of the language, I highly doubt giving free users the next lesson or two will cut into profits and it certainly would help people like me who are on the fence determine if it’s the right system for them.

I am a new student.. And I find that having notes that clearly explain why, is a huge help. In (this is my third day with LINGODEER) just a few days, even in the intro classes, I have learned things that made no sense to me before. It is refreshing and drives me back to wanting to learn more! I learn better when not frustrated. LATER, I am actually learning how to spell en español….that has always been a problem for me, but they have a unique way of teaching spelling. TODAY….I noticed that Lingo always has speech available! I can tap to reinforce what I heard, or just practice with a new word. There are sentences where I read and then get a grade on pronunciation. I learn by hearing, so this is ideal. LINGO takes your mistakes and gently (no more sentences over and over ad nauseam) brings it back in another format; in a spelling or ‘insert a word’ format. I realize later that I now understand what I got wrong AND WHY!!!!

Is helping me learn Korean better than any other. I am currently taking Chinese in school and wanted to learn another language on the side(me being already fluent in Spanish and English). I have tried Duolingo but nothing would stick or work and so a friend recommended me this app and I tried it and in hooked. It makes learning seem so fun and addictive and teaches you everything through not just reading but also hearing it and with stories. I also love how it explains everything before starting a lesson such as by explaining the grammar and pronunciations. Although you have to pay I don’t believe the price is terrible considering actual classes would be muchhh more and this is just as effective as real classes. The only recommendation I would make is to be able to type it out more especially for languages such as Korean but other than that I would always recommend this app and will continue to learn using LingoDeer!

One of the best out there!!. This app is really amazing! This app has multiple teachers that help with learning a language. As of right now I am learning Japanese and Korean and I couldn’t ask for a better app. There are several different features I enjoy, such as the knowledge cards which help break down the grammar learned in different lessons to the vocabulary quizzes so I can quiz myself on the vocabulary that I don’t know or need to re-study. A feature I enjoyed that is specifically for the Japanese language is that there is a section where you can just practice and study the kanji independently from the sentences and grammar which is one of my favorite parts. Another feature is that I can change how i can change the difficulty. For example when I have a question on how to read or pronounce I can switch from native Japanese (the characters and kanji together as they would be in a newspaper) to furugana (kanji with hiragana above it), hiragana completely (no kanji) or romaji (Latin letters only of Japanese sounds). Overall I have been with LingoDeer for over a year and I have a come to realize how much I enjoyed this app! And with every update comes a new excitement over with what LingoDeer has waiting for me to try out next!!

Good Teaching Tool. I have been learning Korean for about two years before trying this app, so I am no beginner, but the way the app teaches each lesson is very beginner friendly and I can tell I will learn quickly with the advanced lessons as well. Compared to other learning apps, this one presents a concise but thorough review of the lesson material before diving in, and gradually teaches by doing, working up in exercise difficulty throughout the lesson, which I really appreciate because I can pick up on things as I go. My only complain so far is that, when asked to type a sentence in 한국어, the keyboard does not automatically switch to the Korean keyboard I have installed. I have several keyboards, so it takes an extra few seconds every exercise that I know could be fixed with some changes to the text field. Additionally, when pressing the “Return” key, the keyboard simply disappears, and I have to press another button to actually submit my answer. Again, a very small improvement but one that would go a long way. I’m an app developer myself so I know these things are possible.

Didn’t expect results so soon! Helped me with Korean!. First of all, let it be known I never write reviews for anything, nor do I ever buy subscriptions that are more than what I would pay for Netflix. This app.... is SO WORTH IT. Only $50 for a year and you learn any amount of languages you want?? Literally a Starbucks drink a month. That’s a steal. I’m studying Korean since I’ll be studying abroad in 8 months and I thought I’d have to hurry to learn the language. Let me tell you.... three days in at only about an hour a day (if that) AND NOW I CAN READ AND WRITE THE WHOLE KOREAN ALPHABET. It all depends on you and how dedicated/serious you are, but LingoDeer provides you with all the tools you need so you have literally no excuse. And they don’t have a penalty system like Duol*ngo where if you get it wrong, you’re just screwed. This app helps you learn and gives you charts, no “lives” or “hearts” system, plus it helps you learn sentence structure.... just wow. I could not be happier, and I regret not finding this app sooner. I definitely recommend listening to a binaural beat for Memorization while you study, I feel like that helped me retain the information better. And take your own notes!! It’ll help, I promise!!! Thank you devs for this great app!!!

Amazing App!! I definitely recommend. Anyone learning a major Asian language should be using this app. First of all, it’s free and there’s no in app purchases.. so that’s like enough said. I’m learning Korean and I have to say I haven’t found a lot of apps that teach grammar and sentence structure as well as this one. It also adds in vocab with every lesson. The pace doesn’t start off too hard, and stays pretty consistent, so you aren’t giving up a few days in. It’s light practice, easily explained, and very aesthetically fun. Would work for kids or adults. I’ve only been using it for about 5-10 min a day, skipping a couple days, for about 2 months and I’m about 70% done with the course, so I feel good about myself. And there are optional review sessions as well (the fact that review is optional is actually really nice compared to some other apps) so when I do finish the app, I’ll just go back and review everything... for the rest of my life probably. 10/10 would recommend 👍🏼

ESL Instructor Approved. I teach English to international students at a university and this app is simply fantastic. You will save more money buying the premium version of this app and learn (currently) 12 different languages than you will learning 1 language by book. It’s insane. I still sometimes go to Barnes n Nobles to buy a language workbook, and I always end up barely touching it bc this app is just better and more convenient. The way you learn is the way I learned how to do so in my master’s. They have native speakers, easy grammar explanations, extra stories for real-life implementation, and even FANTASTIC methods to learn other writing systems. I learned so much Japanese so quick; and now I’m onto Spanish (they even distinguish between Latin America and Spain!). As a language lover, I’ve tried so many different apps like Doulingo or niche ones specific to a language; but literally nothing can beat this. I’ve had this app for YEARS, worth every penny. If the developers of this app actually see this, just know that I love this app more than life itself.

Helped a lot :). I especially liked the flash card option, I found myself using it a lot. The app was good for learning and almost fun/a game… Highly recommend if u wanna learn a language, but I suggest using the app on top of studying/books etc (that’s what I do), it helps to memorise things better-especially alphabets. <3 <3 <3

It was Amazing.... Lingo Deer was, and still is an incredible app and super useful for learning languages quickly. However, after discovering all my progress had been lost, I ALSO discovered that you know had to pay for everything after the first lesson. Meaning you generally only learn ~4 or a bit more phrases and words before you have to pay. The app is still good none-the-less, but i’m not prepared to pay and i’m a little disappointed by it.

Wonderful learning tool!. I love how it has the option to have hiragana and kanji without romaji. And also that there is a grammar explanation before every little ‘chapter’. After a few days I bought the full subscription because I can see myself using it for a long time. My suggestion for the further development would be to have some texts that students can read to try to remember the kanji. Also implementing some of the WaniKani mnemonics would be good for kanji learning. Thank you for such an amazing learning tool!

Honestly try it. I have been trying to learn Korean for some time now and Duolingo and Memrise and all the other one are good and all but if you want a app that teaches you, really well what terms mean try it out. I found that it so much better use it this to learn Korean than other language apps. Please download and try it your probably enjoy it. Ps* can’t say if it as good doing other languages through this app other than Korean but I’d say they all have the same standard. Which is amazing.

Great for learning particles! (Japanese). I recently downloaded this app expecting it to crash and be unhelpful but to my surprise it works really well! I have been trying to learn Japanese a while and after I learned hiragana and katakana I was struggling to find a app that taught me how grammar works and the basic structure of particles. This is good for perfecting your pronunciation and I’m happy I found this app. Thanks!

Amazing app. Deleted memrise and Duolingo and drops.. I had a yearly memrise subscription, that I cancelled, and then deleted the app. I had a Duolingo app, but it was very slow paced, deleted - not my style. I tried out drops, but it was slow paced as well. Then I found out about LingoDeer, and it has changed my language learning habits for life. This app is free and I could learn the languages that I want to learn with the proper grammar involved. The other two apps don’t show how the grammar is used. This app shows the sentence structure and how the language is co trusted, making it easier to learn Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. I am enjoying this app so much, that I feel so guilty when I don’t touch LingoDeer for a day. It’s free which is such a godsend. The developers of this app are really modest people to offer it for free, no annoying ads or time limits in it either! I’ve learnt that three of these languages have shared words, and it’s so much fun! A recommendation for improvement though, maybe an easier way to switch between the languages? Like a little drop down at the top of the main learning screen would help. I like switching to keep the brain going! Anyway, huge thanks to the developers who have made this app. You are truly gifted people who have given broke college students like me a will to live! Thank you!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS. This is only my third day using the app and I already can’t wait to tell people all about it, that is if I could discover all the fun at once! This app makes learning so enjoyable, I really appreciate how they explain grammar and sentence structure in depth so that you gain so much more than just useful phrases. I am currently using it to learn Japanese and there’s a function where you can choose to display alphabets to your liking (from full Japanese to only romaji and everything in between and in any combination), which is so awesome because you can adjust that to your learning level. All these plus a function to change the background colour/mode AND the cute graphics have made this app a super pleasing one to use.

Best App for languages. I wanted a Korean app to supplement what I was learning with a tutor. I had downloaded a bunch like Duo lingo, you name it! This app is HANDS DOWN the best. It gives you the theoretical knowledge with its introductions to each topic. It then gives you little practice tests that really consolidate the learning. It is also so well organised into topics and progressed in a very logical order. Please give this app a go.. you won’t be disappointed!!!

Way better than other language apps. So yesterday I found the LingoDeer, looking at the reviews, it was an amazing app. I’ve used Duolingo and Drops before I found this app, and it gives me learning tips and basically everything I need to know. I’m learning Korean right now, and it’s giving me very useful tips on Hangul, and it gives you tips unlike Duolingo and Drops. I had to use a separate app and two learning apps to try and learn Korean, but I found LingoDeer and it’s a very good app for learning languages like Korean, Japanese, Chinese and much more! I highly recommend this app to others.

Great App. This app is actually amazing. the courses are really fun and interactive and I enjoy using the app. the cute little drawings make it so much more enjoyable. Compared to Duolingo, the Korean course was so helpful, it explained to me how and where the subject/object/verb should be used in a sentence. this app is just the best and I have recommended it to all my friends who also wanted to learn korean and have all moved over from Duolingo to this app. I enjoy this app so much and I am so thankful that you have made it completely free. and maybe in the future, you can add an in app purchase where we pay around a dollar which would support you and you could give us costumes to dress up the really cute deer and personalise it to how we like. just a suggestion :)) thank you for developing this app, I am so happy with it.

Excellent App for New Learners. The big advantage I have found in this app over some others, is the explanation of grammatical features. This can really clear things up and make sense of sentences when it could otherwise be guesswork. Disadvantage of this app is that it you can feel a bit isolated. This could be a plus for some but I like to be able to converse with others on the same journey. Perhaps a feature for down the track. Otherwise an excellent, well paced learning tool.

Greatest app!. I’ve always wanted to learn Korean and this app is the best one yet. I’ve tried countless of different ones but they always end up having to pay for the rest after the first lesson. Or they end up being too slow and kept on asking to get premium status. This is the best one in my opinion! 👌 👌

In love! Fills the gaps where other apps don't!. So many apps don't focus on the grammar and vocabulary so I'm stuck with shocking pronunciation and I don't know how sentence structure works (when I don't have time currently to use my grammar book as pay for a tutor) so this really helps!! I adore that you can turn romaji OFF! I hate when other apps won't let you because then I just stick with remembering English characters, not kana! Ugh! So thank you!! What a brilliant app. Love the interface, everything is so smooth, the test activities are varied, and I've only just started! Love the cute mascot deer too :3 brightens up my day (the yellow theme probably helps too). Thanks for reigniting my love for languages !! ❤️❤️ just studying Japanese right now as I have a language study trip coming up, but I'm SO excited to learn Korean and Chinese next. Ahhhh !! Kwow!. I haven’t been using this app for very long but it is so much easier to use and understand as well as more in depth than duo lingo. Best of all it’s free and has no ads! It’s also fun and gives you the option to record yourself and hear when you use some of the sentences! Thank you so much! I have been wanting to learn Korean for awhile so this on top of watching kdrama/kpop should defs help out!

BEST APP!. Definitely prefer this app! I am studying Korean , the first time I tried to learn Korean was with the app duo-lingo and it skipped the entire alphabet which wasn’t helpful at all. However when I tried LingoDeer, it has tremendously improved my learning on Korean. I growed so much knowledge about the Korean language thanks to this app🤎 plus it made me think that learning Korean was actually really easy :)

Great App. I really loved this as an alternative to the Duolingo’s Japanese course. Duolingo is fantastic with all the European languages in my opinion but when it comes to Japanese I believe it has to be taught differently. Lingodeer does this really well and the Grammar Notes is definitely the best feature. It makes it so much easier to learn the language and definitely takes away a lot of the guess work which is sometimes apparent in Duolingo. I definitely recommend this app. :)

Lingodeer is really good. Lingodeer really makes learning another language so easy. You learn topic by topic and everything is broken down so it is easier to understand. The only thing that I wish they hadnt changed was adding a membership fee, this app used to be free and it was the best thing I had ever come across for that very reason. Membership fee aside this app is still one of the very best to learn languages with.

Fun and Well Paced. 你好！ Lingodeer sets itself apart by teaching all aspects of the language simultaneously: reading, writing and speaking. The lessons are broken down into manageable 5-10 minute chunks and the app is very well designed and simple to navigate. I enjoy being able to take new lessons at my own pace and choose to test and review everything i've learned so far at any time in order to build confidence. If one lesson hasn't stuck yet you can review it and test yourself on individual lessons. The pronounciation tasks are especially helpful to ensure good habits are built and the reminders and notifications are subtle and friendly while encouraging you to keep it up. Whether you want to spend an hour or two learning or just five minutes you feel you are making progress and getting better every time! 再见！

Great app. Have only just started but I feel like I’ve already got a better grasp of the language through this app than than through the other apps and materials I was using. I’m excited to see how the learning platform develops and how it improves my knowledge and understanding of the language.

Asian Language Duolingo. So far, better than the current Duolingo Asian courses. I would love to give five stars but you guys have to check your English translations as some are unnatural. We wouldn’t say “We like Korean” or “We like French” if we’re meaning the people. That makes it sound like we like the languages or the country in question’s food/cuisine. To render these sentences in natural English, one would say: We like Korean people or we like French people, for example.

Premium is worth it. After months of learning Korean not once have a regretted paying for lifetime access. If I’m honest this app is better than having a personal teacher and LingoDeer keeps you motivated and can answer all your questions. Like literally all of them.

Makes learning a joy!. I have been using Lingo Deer to learn Japanese for a couple of weeks now and I love it. It’s so well designed to build on your knowledge at the perfect pace. I look forward to doing my lessons everyday. I’ve tried other apps to learn Japanese but this is the best by far. Highly recommend!

really great. ive just started learning spanish & japanese through lingodeer and its a lot better than duolingo! it teaches you groups of related phrases at a time which makes it easier to learn, unlike duolingo which teaches you a bunch of unrelated things at a time. the UI is really nice too, and its really simple to understand what i dont like about it is the price :( why is it so expensive in australia? $23 for a monthly subscription and $250 for lifetime and thats WITH a 50% discount (its normally $500)?!? from older reviews i see it used to be a lot cheaper :( please consider making this more accessible to people who cant afford to be spending this much on a learning tool! and the free version should have more than just one basic lesson overall its a good app, just please make it more accessible!!

Great for beginners!. I have been trying to learn Korean for a few months now, and while Duolingo is a good app I find that it has to many advertisements in it. LingoDeer doesn’t have nearly as many advertisements as Duolingo does. I definitely recommend LingoDeer to anyone who is wanting to learn a language!

Regarding Free Content V/S Paying. I previously had LingoDeer on other devices and it was a very helpful and informative language app (I actually found it a lot better than others I had used during school, etc.) However, I was about to do my second lesson today when a pop-up appeared saying I would have to pay to continue. I am all for paying for something good quality, but it is a bit of a shame when I can’t even do more than the Basic lesson for free, AND when I don’t currently have the money to spend on this app :( Wish LingoDeer and the team all the best. You guys have made a seriously good app, it’s just a shame I won’t be able to continue to use it any time soon.. Hopefully in a few months or so I will have some money aside, or the app will change enough to once again have (a bit more) free content.

Amazing Learning Experience. A friend recommended this app to me for learning Korean and I have not stopped using it, by far one of the most efficient and simple apps to help understand complex languages such as Mandarin, Japanese and Korean. By breaking down the grammar and vocab, the app really helps you construct and define sentences rather than just giving you whole phrases to memorise. 5 stars, quality content, keep up the good work!

Duolingo vs This App. I’m going to be honest lingo deer is a way better tool to learn, it teaches you the sentence structure, vowels, alphabet and all the noises they make. No disrespect to Duolingo but they just throw you in there with absolutely no knowledge it’s a lot harder to learn. The UI of Duolingo is better then this one but it really doesn’t matter I’m here to learn a language not to make a website. So you should use this because it’s way better in general compared to other apps.

BEST LEARNING LANGUAGES APP EVER!. I’ve also wanted something easy, fun and at the same time free when it comes to learning languages apps and this app definitely ticks all the boxes I was looking for. I love learning korean it’s my hobby now. I love everything about the korean language, and this app has definitely showed aside of good teaching of the korean language. The grammar and vocabulary are both awesome 👏. Thank you so much for this app. I will so recommend this app to my friends :).

Awesome app!. I haven’t been using the app for long but I find it very simplistic and easy to use. I like that you get to choose whether you see romaji, hiragana, none or both. And the typing exercises within the lessons is great, really makes sure I’ve remembered the phrase, and is something I don’t believe Duolingo has. Looking forward to seeing how the grammar sections are done which are later in the course. I have no complaints :)

First time I've ever been gutted by a trial ending, had to buy it. This app has been astronomical. I was genuinely distraught that the trial had ended because it was working so well for me, and that has never happened for me before. I tried Duolingo for Korean in the past and it skipped the alphabet entirely, the speakers are lightning fast and it was impossible to keep up with. It really threw me in the deep end even though I had limited prior experience with learning Korean and extensive experience with other languages. Lingodeer on the other hand has been brilliant. It starts small, gives you plenty of reinforcement, the speakers speak at a reasonable pace and the audio and visual feedback is brilliant. In-depth explanations of words and grammar and contexts of use are included in tooltips when you get introduced to new words so you don't have to exit the lesson to look something up, and best of all, SUBSCRIPTION IS OPTIONAL. I'm a broke masters student but I didn't hesitate to drop 90AUD of my savings to buy this app outright because the sheer value of the learning content could easily reach into the thousands if you were to do this by traditional means. Its unbelievably worth it.

Not bad!. Though I have been learning japanese mostly from bunpo, lingodeer is amazing! I’m learning katakana at a fast rate, but my only problem is not really important, but i noticed something. In the hiragana section, the character ‘wo’ is referred to as ‘o’ in some way. I dont know what happened, but can you fix this? Anyways, this app is amazing! Highly recommend.

Great App!. this app is really helping me learn Korean well. i like how it explains how the grammar works and why and how the sentences and words are structured the way they are. the only downside is i think it's programmed for a different country because it gets to 9 PM and it's wanting to do Korean hahah but other than that it's a great app!! edit: recently some of my answers have been getting marked as incorrect when they’re not wrong. sometimes it doesn’t even highlight the incorrect section because there isn’t one. this only happens when i have to make the sentence by typing or choosing words. please help!

Best language learning app!. I noticed a lot of people were learning korean using LingoDeer so I gave it a go too. I loved the first few lessons so much, I didn’t hesitate to buy the subscription. Also, when they teach japanese, there’s a section for learning kanji which I think is fabulous! Other languages that have characters and stuff like Chinese also is the same. Another part of the app I like is that there are small phrases that you can learn and hear to use for your next trip. Highly recommend for language learning!

The only APP i know that legit Helps. A lot of Apps teaches you useless lesson you wont use on everyday life, or wont teach you grammar. This app teaches you how to Pass N4-N5 japanese as well as learning natural basic grammar structure which is very important. Its got reminders and small quizzes as well to reinforce memory this is so far the most useful app ive downloaded in comparison to other 10apps i tried to use. Please dont change regarding fees and stuff because this is good! 👍

Please make LingoDeer free :((. This app is really good and it has lots of lesson but why do we have to pay to learn lessons :(, it’s quite expensive to me and I can’t afford it but I desperately want to learn Vietnamese. You can still have premium lessons, but please don’t make lessons cost money, or learning other languages, somethings that can be in premium is learning offline. But otherwise this app seemed good based of the one lesson I could learn for free and I want to continue to use it if it wouldn’t cost money. Thank you.

My favourite app, and my favourite way to learn a new language. I never expected to enjoy learning a language so much, lest alone when being taught by an app! However, Lingodeer somehow has added every aspect of what I've been searching for all into one place. I use this app every day, and always look forward to the next lesson. I love this app. Knowing a second language fluently (Japanese) I thought that self studying Korean would be easy. I taught myself Hangul, but found it very difficult to stay motivated to learn everything else since I’m not learning in a classroom. Tried countless apps, and was very sceptical of LingoDeer, but I’ve found this app to be incredibly engaging and my progress has quickly improved. I really do love it, I’m not sure how advanced the lessons will get in the future but everyday I am looking forward to learning more. 난사합니다!!

AMAZING!!. This is honestly the best UI design I have seen in an app to date!! Not only that but every area of education, learn, fun, game design juice, user experience.. so thoroughly thought out. Best Korean language app. Before finding this app I really struggled to learn Korean! Whilst still not naturally easy for me, the information, lessons and structure have made my learning experience fun, satisfying and importantly I am actually learning. If you want to learn how to read, write understand and actually speak Korean (other than parroting phrases), you seriously should consider this app.

Good delivery system and very fun but.... Really makes learning fun and intuitive to understand. Just a few points to consider to make it even better: 1) Kanji integration could be better applied, either through mnemonic breakouts or sub-lessons. As the Kanji characters are introduced quite early on and are quite complex (e.g. airplane), stroke illustration or some fun mnemonic to help people remember them would improve the lesson 2) Integration and alignment with JLPT levels - highlighting or marking kanji with JLPT levels and making the content aligned would help provide standardised levels of aptitude progress markers, rather than specific to LingoDeer. 3) Guidance on how to use the iOS Japanese keyboard.

Great learning app. This is great I’m glad I found this it’s much better than dulingo. It easier to understand and learn the Japanese language with this. The lives system in test out doesn’t work well I think it should be based on scores instead of lives and so people can figure out what to improve instead of making it feel like a game cause that’s what your other app is supposed to do in regards to being a game. 😀

Love this app!!! Spanish and Korean. Using this program for Spanish and Korean and I am so impressed and getting better everyday. Wish I had it the first time I tried to learn Spanish 20 years ago. I love the cadence of the speaker. Not to fast. And how I can listen at every stage to try and copy accurate pronunciation. It really works with my brain. Surprised by my retention. Breaking me of my news addiction.

Much, much better than duolingo!. This app actually makes me feel like I, learning the language instead of just memorising specific sentence patterns. My speaking and listening has improved drastically due to this app too! If you are currently using duolingo, switch to this app right now. If you aren't, then this is probably the best place to be learning a language!

James from Sydney. 1. Lingodeer Apps is quite well designed. Its’ content, to me, is rather tailored to teens/young adults. It is definitely cool for them to pick up certain languages (instead of playing games) while they are on public transport. In that sense, I gave 5 stars. 2. Several “new” languages as addressed in its’ menu come more thorough & lengthier with their lessons. Although they all have minor glitches that stop learners to progress/finish a session & move on; I was indeed frustrated when my phone screen turned blank, as I was looking forwards to tackling the following conversation bits. For this reason, I changed my mind & gave 4 stars. 3. Given its’ pricing, for sure, Lingodeer offers the best grammar based courses, as well as values, among the rest of lingual apps. In particular, the “fluent” sections on the menu are just fabulous; whenever I want to clarify certain points within an entire conversation, explanations pop up & are just awesome.

Great app!. I've been learning Japanese for roughly 5 years now, through school and apps. This is the only app that has actually been a great help in learning the language, and I honestly think it's better than actual school. It has correct grammar and pronunciation, and it will be a great help as I'm going to Japan this year!

One thing missing. This is such a good app for learning languages. Its UI is superb and the pronounciation is leagues ahead of some other apps ive tried, but one thing irks me. When you get something wrong, you arent told what was wrong. Im learning korean and i was making some grammatical errors regarding '는' and '은'. I didn't know what scenario called for which letter and it was driving me insane. I would get it wrong and it wouldn't tell me where i went wrong and what it's supposed to be, im not sure if i missed it all the time or if its just not there. But that is the only problem ive experienced with this amazing app.

Actually works. I’ve tried many different language learning apps and learning languages many ways, but I’ve found the best way to learn is a little more hands on than writing. This app teaches you very quickly sentence structures, pronounciation and all things you really need for a language. It’s really easy and pleasant to work with, I suggest it to anyone wanting to learn a language!

Best Language Learning App. I've used so many different language learning apps and websites in the past, lingodeer is by FAR the best, all I can say is that you have to try it for yourself. This app is not free - you can't really expect to receive all of the content you would in a paid class for free, it's not fair. The subscription is very fairly priced, and you can buy a one-off payment for about $100 when in reality what you're getting is worth so much more than that. I just wanted to say thank you to the developers of Lingodeer, you're helping and inspiring me as well as so many other users, and I can't wait to see how this app continues to grow and courses expand, you have a really special thing here. Better than Duolingo. Lingodeer actually explains the grammar and why some vowels and consonants change sound. Knowing the Korean alphabet (Hangul) before starting your Korean journey on Lingodeer is preferable, but not completely necessary. Tho I would recommend learning the alphabet first. I guess that’s what you can use Duolingo for.

Get rid of it. Used to be my favourite when it was free. Now you can’t even get the second lesson unless you pay 10 dollars a month or an annual fee. Used to be one of the best apps but now it’s garbage. What a waste.

I’m not sure. I wanted to learn Thai but, it is not there even though there is a Thai language interface option. If I can set the language to Thai but can not learn it, it is pretty annoying. You should add Thai.

There’s no free version. I would never pay this INSANE price. There is no free version. Too bad, because the lack of gamification (compared to DuoLingo) has a good chance of competition. Too bad the pricing formula is a total scam.

The only thing I do not like. Is they do not have a lifetime purchase like Rosetta Stone

linear lessons. it would be really nice if we could jump around the course and learn the words and stuff that we actually want to know, rather than going down and unlocking everything. otherwise it’s a great app! i’m using it to learn french and it’s a lot harder than duolingo. Can’t wait to start learning japanese with it too :)

It works well!. It is easy to navigate,straight to the point, explains things thoroughly and doesn’t show the English words which helps me to stop thinking in English, though the hard part is to spell 😅

Have to pay. The app is great but you have to pay money to learn the rest of the alphabet and it’s pretty hard to learn the words without learning the alphabet first.

Better than Duolingo. I have been doing Duolingo for more than 4 years and comparing that app with this one we can see a big difference on the explanation on things. I like the fact that they explained why some things are written in some ways. It almost feels like a class and not only an activity.

Scam. Literally the scammiest app I have EVER had the displeasure of downloading. App said $119.99 for lifetime access, and it charged me $180. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it charged me $180 TWICE. Twice! And it didn’t even work, said my payment method was declined even when I checked my bank account and it DID charge. Please take my advice and consider before purchasing ANYTHING off this scam app, everyone.

I like it but $$. I really liked it. It’s thorough with lessons.(I do suggest having some basics of a language down though.) But you only get the first lesson of each level free. Otherwise you gotta pay.

Best app to learn Korean while having fun. I’ve started using Lingodeer for a short while, but it made learning Korean so much fun. My understanding of the grammar is also improving greatly.

Alphabets Are Important.. I have been using this along with another app that focuses on the correct writing of Hangul, if I hadn’t been using that one first I would probably have gotten fed up with not being able to pick up LingoDeer and get going on things. Yes LingoDeer has a section for alphabet learning, but it fell behind in usefulness as the other one I am able to interact with the app to actively write the alphabet and learn sounds as I go. With languages that have a different alphabet than you’re used to it can be frustrating to be expected to understand the lessons. However, because I did start learning how to correctly read and write the alphabet before I started with LingoDeer I can say that I’ve been able to grasp quite a bit out of the lessons. It’s early days but it’s seeming more attainable and easier to pick up than I thought.

It is very swag. I am have a lot of fun and I am learning really well. It is good. 👍🤤

Too expensive for one language. Look, I don’t want to learn a hundred diff languages. I just want to learn one. Why isn’t there a cheaper selection where we can just pick one language for a certain price? I have no interest paying $100 when I’m not going to learn any of the other languages in the package. With that money, I can go to an actual teacher...

Learning experience. I love it! Experiences are fun to do and it’s easy for new people. There is a lot of languages to learn. The only thing is that you need to pay if you want more advantages.

You screw it up.. I've been with this app since the beginning. But now there's a subscription. I should have known this is were it was going. I simply cannot justify a perpetual cost every month (in an age of soring bills you want to do this?) since Duolingo is doing the same thing for free.

Love this app! But it doesn’t show how to write Hangul properly!. I’ve watched videos on the internet saying that the way you write Hangul is important and also there is a certain way to write the words with the letter bunched up. I love this app but please work on that!!!

Can’t even get to the second lesson without paying. :(. This app was great, I did the first lesson and learned quite a lot and was soooo excited to get to the second. It said it was locked so I went and took the test out for an hour trying to unlock things. Then I realized no matter what, you have to pay $100 to get to even the second lesson! If you’re a free user I don’t suggest this app, it gets your hopes up and crushes them again. Sorry. The app could’ve been great.

Trust me on this comment !. I LOVE this app it is super fun to use (actually) and easy ! Do not recommend for beginers ! I would tell you to learn the basics ( Hangul) on yoututbe ( what a did and was reaslly useful in 101korean.com ) or duolingo to understand Hangul , THEN try this app ! It will mostly help you with conversations and just what you need for afther learning the basics ! I love it TOTALLY recommend !! :))

very well organized app love it. This app is very organized and very helpful , it’s worth paying that price cause it will guide you through everything comparing to other apps , I’m using this one with lingo deer plus and it’s great . I would recommend you knowing some Hangul and basic things before or using this with a Korean book would help. I know it’s expensive but I believe you won’t regret when you realize you got so much better than before . Hopefully I’ll get fluent. And like the producer said they need the money to make this app efficient so spend some for your development guys.

Can’t go to Second Lesson Without Paying. I really liked the first unit on this app. It’s super annoying that you have to pay to progress any further. And it’s not cheap Canadian it’s like $18 a month. Not only do you have to pay for further lessons. There’s already ads on the free version. I don’t understand how that doesn’t pay for it. I would not mind watching ads if I could continue. Really disappointing because it has so much potential.

Not as good as it used to be. I used to study Korean on this app and it would explain how words and grammar are used and why and then go onto a lesson. Now it’s just a memory app.

Best App Ever. This is by far the best app I’ve ever encountered for learning Asian languages. It’s absolutely worth every penny. One recommendation I would have though would be adding something built-in to remind you to review vocab/grammar you learned a while ago (to refresh your memory), as it can be quite easy to go through the lessons quickly and then get overwhelmed with forgetting things you learned previously.

Crams the information in your brain. Unlike other programs I’ve used, LingoDeer actually makes you remember the words. LingoDeer also takes grammar rules, and makes them easy to understand. I’ve tried many Korean learning apps, but so far this is the best one. The audio is also amazing.

Pretty Good but one question. So I started using the app and it’s great but I tried to move on tO profession for Japanese and it said I have to pay subscription and I don’t hav money for that. So I tried to move on but I have to complete Profession to move on and I’m really stuck

Pay before you know if it’s worth it. You really expect me to buy your course when there’s so little free content? How can I know if it’s not terrible past the first lesson? Just make it free and run ads to make money like Duolingo. Or at least make the entire beginners portion free so we can gauge the quality of the course. A timed trial won’t help because then I can’t learn at my own pace.

Great to learn new languages!. Lingo deer is by far my favourite language learning app. It teaches you vocabulary and phrases totally relevant compared to some other apps. It also teaches you grammar and how/when to use vocabulary. I love it

Needs more reviews,. This app sucks. Every time you want to learn a language, it teaches you the alphabets but it goes to fast. Not all of us are fast learners.

First app review ever. I’ve never bothered to write a review before, but I felt that LingoDeer deserved it! I’ve been using them for a long time to study Japanese, but I’ve studied a few other languages on here as well. Although I do use a lot of supplementary materials, you could get away with just using LingoDeer - They are, hands down, the best language app you can find. Their lesson scaffolding is intuitive, and they really know how to build on concepts and grammar in a way that makes sense. Someone clearly spent a *lot* of time planning out all of the lessons, and it shows. It’s also great that the majority of their lessons are free. I didn’t pay a dollar for the first year or two I was using it, but I ended up buying the lifetime pass a few months ago. They do digital language education right 👌

Stellar!. Previously I used Duolingo to try to learn Korean but it was difficult to grasp the alphabet properly. Duolingo didn’t have the option to go back and review the alphabet quickly and efficiently. But this app is amazing! Not only does it provide a section to learn the alphabet, but you learn every vowel and consonant WITH the ability to easily review the vocabulary you learned. What really wowed me was that each section comes with “quick tips” that provide a comprehensive lesson on grammar, something that Duolingo tries but doesn’t accomplish well (at the current time I have taken 5 years of german and the german section under Duolingo is my basis for these facts). I also love that I’m not getting hit with ads every five seconds and that this app isn’t focused on getting your money. Overall, cute app, amazing structure, and a very pleased customer.

I want to learn the basics and be able to understand and speak this language. Learning hiragana and katakana is a must, but while learning that, it’s not working to include kanji when most your exercises don’t include them. Example: question appears with the multiple hiragana reply, but if I select the wrong ones (or wrong order) the correct answer displays in kanji. How am I suppose to correct my mistake if the program won’t show it to me? Then the review will say a word, which I known the translation to, know how to write it in hiragana and/or katakana, but the only options are kanji. You have a setting that lets me choose hiragana and romanji, yet the kanji still show up. I’m not saying I won’t learn the kanji at some point, but the foundation is more important at this early stage. Please fix this! Original: Was using Duolingo for a long time, and saw someone recommended this app. I’m very impressed, with no real issues so far. Love all the information about the language break down. Makes it easier to understand how to construct a sentence yourself. Only wish there was like a placement test kind of test, so I could skip over what I know. Not a big deal though; I consider it almost like a refresher. Keep up great work!

Engaging variety of exercises. Personally I tried and failed with Duolingo on multiple occasions over the years. Finally I figured I'd give a paid service a try (and really it's hardly any money at all for providing all the language courses they have), and I've really liked the structure of this app much more. There's repetition of a number of sentences in various structures, which helps my brain remember the phrases because of not only listening, but filling in, removing participles, and typing them out by hand. I think I only wish (for feedback purposes) that I could also tap the phrases in the story modes, as they often incorporate a few phrases that weren't in the lessons. I can usually infer their meaning but it's always helpful to be able to tap a word or phrase and confirm my suspicions.

Best ever. Long story short: here's why Lingodeer is great - Applicable lessons (actually useful things to learn! not just randomly generated sentences or hypotheticals) -They provide a simple concise breakdown of what you are learning for the lesson under "tips". -Their lessons come with audio that you can actually understand (with all the fluctuations and nuances) -Their lesson plans have a good structure and flow - Super cute! Long story: I first used duolingo as some other reviews have mentioned as well. To be honest they really dominate their presence on social media but Lingodeer is very honestly so much better. I actually like that Lingodeer seems to have a better voice system? It's also the same for each lesson, as opposed to Duolingo who uses characters that sort of don't pronounce things with fluctuations very well. On top of that, Lingodeer has a great customer support team! They are not located where I am however so I expect a response the next day. Anywho, both apps on their own look like good apps to use for learning however, Lingodeer really takes the cake in comparison because everything that Duolingo does, Lingodeer just does better. Hands down. I gladly support them with my money. I really hope that Lingodeer is successful!! I really enjoy it.

I Love This App!. I’ve been using this app for over a year. There are multiple languages to choose from, and part 1 of each language is free to use on LingoDeer. I got through Korean Part 1, which consists of probably about 60-70 lessons, each with 2-4 parts to each lesson. I went through each lesson, and didn’t move on to the next until I felt like knew everything with full confidence. It took me about 48 hours, over the course of a few months to complete Korean Part 1. Part 1 is completely free! It’s the most thorough and detailed Korean learning app I’ve used. It teaches you vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, etc, and it makes learning fun! I purchased Part 2 and moved on to more advanced learning. I can read korean, speak korean, and have a conversation in Korean thanks to this app. I am not fluent of course, that will take time, but I feel confident when traveling abroad. Thank you LingoDeer!

Best language learning resource, and it’s free!. This is the best resource I’ve found for learning Korean so far, and as far as I can tell, it’s completely free! First of all, it gives you the option to ditch romanization which helps you improve your reading skills. You also have the option to spell out phrases on your keyboard to practice spelling and texting. It’s one thing to visually recognize a word, but it’s another to be able to spell it on your own from memory. Most importantly, every word or phrase you learn you can hear spoken by a native speaker, which is crucial for natural pronunciation. You also can record yourself speaking and play back the recording to critique your pronunciation. Absolutely love this app! Hope you release more soon. I’d be willing to pay for more content or make a donation, because this app is worth it!

Best App to learn Korean. I can’t believe this app is free with no ads. The lessons are good, pretty similar to Duolingo, but the sentences are more accurate and each topic gives you a grammar explanation. Right there, it’s better than Duolingo, but LingoDeer also has reviews specifically for vocabulary and grammar. You can pick and choose what to review. It’s like having your Memrise deck right in the app. This app makes learning simple and fun. You don’t need an app for grammar and another for Flashcards, because this is both. I’ve paid for other apps that do a fraction this one does. Couldn’t be more pleased. I was going to complain that even the higher levels still have the romanization, but then I saw the button on the top right to change your preference. Simple and brilliant. I wish I could type answers without having to select premade tiles, but it’s still great. Thanks a lot!

Best self study language app I’ve found. This app does an excellent job teaching languages especially ones with different scripts that Duolingo and pimsler struggle with. Not all foreign scripts are made into lessons however, Russian being the prime example. Overall I have really found myself liking LingoDeer. One thing to note is I am a more visual learner so I have to see the words to understand them. Also when typing an answer, there is no spellcheck so you have to learn to spell. For the cons: Russian needs a better lesson for the alphabet. Japanese could do with teaching the kanji better. There are random errors where the images shown for vocabulary are in Chinese. And the app in some menus, like the option menus, can feel a bit jankey. For the pros: It has all the languages I’m interested in learning (not a huge list though). You can tap a button after answering a question to hear the answer spoken to you. Lessons feel well planned out and layer with each other to build your understanding. I see little updates to the app every month or three with new content added. Like I said before Lingodeer works better for me than other apps I’ve tried.

Doesn’t teach useful language content. If you’re looking for a learning experience similar to something out of a textbook or in a classroom, this does fit the bill. I was disappointed, however, because the lessons didn’t cover phrases and grammar that would actually be useful when traveling or interacting with native speakers. I would much prefer something that focuses from the first lesson on helping you to become as confident as possible actually using the language. Starting with real life scenarios and introducing greetings, pleases and thank yous, ordering food, etc., would have been great; however, the lessons in the app bog you down with grammar concepts and phrases that wouldn’t help in real life senarios. Additionally, I had a bad experience trying to cancel my subscription, and was charged for an extra month even though I contacted the support team the day I was charged to cancel my account. Overall not an app I would consider using again, Duolingo is the same and free.

Great App. I need to first put that this app is fantastic at helping me learn Japanese. I went ahead and bought the lifetime membership for this and LingoDeer+ because they really are amazing tools. I’m not sure why there are so many people on here complaining that the app isn’t free. It’s a great deal for people that need and app that actually WORKS, and it’s a much better deal than paying for a college course. The only complaint I have is the stories. It’s next to impossible to complete the stories without being at least conversational. It throws in a bunch of vocab you wouldn’t know if you haven’t been exposed to the language before. Please update the stories so that they reinforce the lesson! Or at least have a feature that allows for learning the vocab in the story, so people can use them to learn.

Amazing app plus some feedback. I started learning Chinese a few days ago. I downloaded the app and was impressed by how effective they made learning a language such as Chinese which has a lot intonation to it. I really REALLY wis they offered more support for learning the characters. The existing interface for that is great however they don’t let you/ offer to learn the words/characters as you go. I understand that is because simple things like hello and by are very hard characters but in my opinion there should at least be an option to be able to see the strokes for every character that appears on the screen and not just see it in tiny font. They offer at best one character per lesson with is not enough in my opinion. And at least offer a search option in the learn 1000 characters section where I can find the ones from the lessons easily.

Best Resource I've Tried. I've been trying to learn Korean for a little over a year and this is by far the best resource I've found. I have used Duolingo as well as 2 physical textbooks and none have geigen me the satisfaction that LingoDeer has. The focus on grammar from the beginning of the course helps immensely later on. Supplementing in-app lessons with LingoDeer+ helps so much with vocabulary (usually what I struggle with the most.) I bought a full year subscription and it is much cheaper than many other resources for the quality of lesson LingoDeer provides. I enjoy using this app so much that I have started using it to help with the German that I learn in school. The best indicator I can give that this is truly a fun and easy way to learn a new language, is that when I get notifications asking me to practice, I don't just get annoyed and dismiss it; I practice.

A mini course book. This app is somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. I found it more similar to a course book than other learning apps. Which is a good thing because they explain the grammar rules well. There is not a focus on vocabulary with only a few vocab words put into each lesson. The course lessons are also extremely short. You can speed run a lesson in under 10 minutes no problem, I don’t think that’s a good thing. The exercises do not incorporate previous lessons and only focus on the learning topic. It’s pretty easy to forget on Friday what I practiced for ten minutes on Wednesday. Because of it’s lacking in quantity. I find LingoDeer more of a supplemental tool. You still need to spend time studying and building your vocabulary outside of the lessons, and practicing creating more sentences using the grammar rules taught. I would improve the app by: Adding more content in the lessons to include sentences and phrases from previous lessons. A lesson should be 15-20 minutes of work, I understand 10 minutes is ideal as a selling point but it’s far less realistic in learning a language. AI chat bot, would be great. I would love to see an AI generated chatbot with or without vocal recognition. A higher vocab rate. Preferably from the top frequency list. T

The best app for languages. When I tell you this is the best app for learning Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, I mean it. I learned basic Japanese a long time ago and even have a book that wasn’t as good as this app! It is also very accurate mostly for all the lessons I’ve done so far. I live in China now and I use this app’s survival Chinese all the time and it has been a main way for me to communicate with other Chinese so they can understand what I want to say lol! I now know my fruits and meats from practicing this app as well so I can understand what I’m reading on menus. I’m definitely going to learn Korean after I finish the Japanese and Chinese lessons because this app is giving you so much knowledge for so little and really teaches these languages in an effective way. Lingodeer has saved my life and educated me on what I need to know. Thank you so much for making this app!

Why do I have to pay now?. Last year I used this app when I wanted to start learning Japanese and it was amazing the app worked so well and provided so much information and I was extremely happy with it. I learned a lot of Japanese through the app and it helped me out a lot in my college class of Japanese language. I wound up not continuing the language and app and stopped using it so I forgot most of what I knew. Recently I became interested in relearning Japanese again and this was the first app I came to because I knew how fantastic it was. To my biggest disappointment though I find I can’t use anything. All the have is the alphabet and 3 nationality mini lessons that don’t really teach you much. When I used this app last year everything was free I was so surprised when I couldn’t use the same lessons as before. I guess that explains why it won’t allow me to login to my old account on her because it was back when everything was free. This app was great but I’m not paying for something that once was entirely free especially when there’s other apps exactly like this that continue to remain free

An app that is better than a teacher!!. All I want to say is how thankful I’m for having this app! I appreciate all of your hard work making this app and all of its useful updates. Also, I thank you so much for giving me as well as thousand users the chance to experience languages, and for giving us the opportunity to advance our learning using your easy to use, fun, and very educational app. It changed my life and my way of learning since I used it back in 2018 and there’s no other app that helped me advance in Japanese and Korean as this one did!! Another thing I like about your app is that it’s Free, which helped me a lot since I CANNOT afford -currently- paying for books. So thank you again. You are certainly life changers. Handicapped without a membership.. I’m not sure if this is just me. I looked through the reviews and everybody said good things about the in-app purchases; that they weren’t necessary and you could learn without them. I was learning Japanese, I finished “Alphabet” and “Nationality,” the first two lessons. Immediately when I tried to go on to the third it asked me to get a membership. I was confused, I thought this app was supposed to allow me to learn without paying! I tried redoing the previous lesson, and it did nothing. When I clicked on the button that said the lesson was locked it just pulled up the “buy put thing please.” page. I have no intention of spending on this app, but from what I did see it has a nice style and great way of teaching. Im just extremely upset that I was mislead into thinking I could use this app without having to pay. I’d definitely recommend Duolingo over this app; the only purchases are to remove adds. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Why the hell do all the reviews say that I can go through without paying? I’m so confused.

Better than Duolingo. This app has helped me a lot learning Korean. I remember I would use a bunch of apps to help me learn Korean, but it would only teach the alphabet, and you would have to pay. Duolingo is alright for me. The learning technique isn’t my style since it uses romanization sometimes. I do better at reading the actual characters of the language than reading romanization. For example, people say saranghae which means I love you, but that’s harder for me since I would read it and I would pronounce the “r” like a actual “r” when it’s suppose to be pronounced like a “L”. LingoDeer barely uses romanization. It really helps and it gives you LOTS of lessons until you need to pay. It has over 50+ or maybe 100+ I don’t even know. It’s very useful though I highly recommend this app!

Not willing to pay the price. I think that the general concept of this app is superb. This app has fantastic lessons that genuinely evaluate and develop one’s language speaking ability. The reason this review is not a full 5 stars lies solely in this apps price. I agree that having an app cost money is a great way to improve it and make profit. One should expect it to be free. The problem is that the app is listed as free but contains in-app purchases. It is very deceiving and should not be that way. It is fine if the app costs money for the full course but at least make that more transparent. People who download the app should not have to get excited about finding a free app but have it turn out that it really isn’t. TECHNICALLY it is, but really, how are a few little lessons going to develop one’s ability? Most people do not want to pay the full price anyway. That being said, the concept is good and other than the price, the app is good.

Probably the best!. I've been a user of this app for a lil over four years. I was currently trying to learn Japanese at the time, and man was I happy to find an app that was, at the time, free. I’ve become fluent enough in the language to politely speak to new pen pals as well as basic day to day with friends. If you’re thinking “oh that’s just one language” you’re wrong. I’ve recently begun learning Korean as well and while it’s not as easy to pick up as Japanese was, LingoDeer has benefited me with how in depth it teaches you pronunciation and writing. I’ve become accustomed to reading the language which helps when I want to follow a certain Kpop group and not have to rely on Bing/Google translate or a translator to be able to read the tweets or news in my native tongue. Developers of LingoDeer, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I always worried about having to pay for school or even college just to learn a language. Now I have this blessing in my pocket and I can even use it offline which I’ll be taking great advantage of in the next 8 months. If no one told you yet, your hard work and dedication are making people proud and giving them the edge to not be locked behind a language barrier. Thank you!!!!!!!!💕💕💕💕

New favorite app. I love this app! It's my new favorite language app (I also use duolingo and memories). I love that it focuses on Asian languages because many other apps don't do these languages well. I'm using it for Japanese and Korean, and I've found the sequence of lessons to be much more helpful than other apps'. I already know Chinese, but I looked at that too and it looks good. I really like that the Chinese one has a "Survival Chinese" list of vocab/useful phrases for tourists. I'd love to see that in the other two languages as well! The only issue I'm having now is that it doesn't seem to register my streaks properly. I've met the daily goal three days in a row now but it says my streak is zero. Not a big deal at all, but those features do sometimes help motivate me to keep going so I'd like them to work! But again, great job, and thank you for this app!

Ummmm...... Okay I love this app. I am currently learning Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. This app is amazing. It definitely challenges you to remember the vocab and grammar structure of the language you are learning. This is good because it helps you learn faster. When I downloaded LingoDeer a year ago, everything was free. For me it is still free. I am already deep into the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese lessons. I recommended this app to my friend and she recently downloaded it. It doesn't let her get past the first few lessons with out a paywall which I don't really understand. Why would this app have no paywall for me but have a paywall for my friend? Don't get me wrong, I am extremely grateful that this app doesn't force me to get a paywall. I'm just confused as to why my friend has to pay? Once I get a good job I'd like to support the creators, but I'm still quite confused about this situation.

Wonderful on iPhone and iPad, please allow on M1 Mac. I can’t express how thankful I am for this app. My Japanese skills have been supercharged thanks to the daily learning experience I get from it and how well structured the curriculum is. The exercises and quizzes flow very intuitively to either teach or test the content, and the detailed explanatory bubbles are super helpful. What would make the experience even greater is if you would PLEASE allow the iPad version run on M1 Macs. Being able to continue the study from the Mac would be incredibly helpful as many of us run many workflows through our computers without having to switch to a different device. I already do this with other learning apps, and having LingoDeer in the Mac would be a productivity dream! Please and thank you!

Obvious issues. I have been using Duolingo for awhile (and it’s FREE!) to learn Japanese and decided I may want to try some different styles. Obviously a couple free, infant level intro courses tells me nothing about the experience and could not convince me to purchase the subscription. And I noticed a VERY BAD deficiency: it does not consider the flexibility of languages AT ALL! naturally there are more than one way to translate a sentence to another language but seems the courses in this app have some predetermined “standard answers” in mind and only answers that are VERBATIM to them are considered correct. A few examples: 1. When I omit the subject (e.g. 私は...) as Japanese always does, it will flag me wrong ‘cause the sentence doesn’t match the answer. 2. When I type the correct kanji instead of hiragana in a translated sentence, it will flag me wrong. It makes me wonder if the course designer really knows the language they are teaching. My native language is Chinese and I’m not completely new to Japanese so I believe I’m making some valid points here.

Excellent for learning, but the app has some bugs. As far as the curriculum goes, this app has been incredibly effective at teaching me Japanese. I’m learning far more than I have using other apps, and it’s organized in a very intuitive way that really takes the different ways that people learn into account more than any other education app I’ve seen on the market. However, the app itself is really buggy so that’s why I docked a star. I have lingodeer on both my phone and ipad, and when I go to switch to the other device, even though I’m logged into the same account, I have to restore my purchase every time I switch which makes me nervous. The experience bar also isn’t recording correctly for me. I’ve only ever studied Japanese on this app, but somehow I’ve gained 100 exp in learning French. I’ll definitely keep using this product, but I hope these things are patched soon.

Really great for self-learning. I’m using this app for Korean, and the lessons are excellently structured. I came into it already knowing how to read Hangul, and I really like how LingoDeer incorporates audio and spoken practices with their grammar lessons. I initially tried LingoDeer for Japanese, but since I don’t know how to read hiragana or katakana, I didn’t get much use out of it for that subject (I personally need to sit down and copy characters over and over again to be able to absorb/memorize/use them later in any meaningful capacity, so LingoDeer’s recognition-based lessons that hop around between different characters is a bit more advanced than I’m able to handle). But given how the Korean lessons are progressing for me, I’m sure once I buckle down and learn hiragana and katakana I’ll be able to take advantage of the Japanese lessons as well.

My first purchase on an app.. I’ve been trying to learn new languages and I find this app to be the most helpful. The first free lessons got me hooked instantly. I purchased the annual plan and it’s definitely worth the money, you learn something new in every lesson. Vocabulary, speaking, stories and readings, etc. I use the app everyday as much as I can to continuously practice and improve the language I’m learning. However, the only con is that if you are trying to use LingoDeer on PC or the app, it will not sync or save your progress (at least not with the vocabulary words). I’ve had this problem for a while now and even updated the app and clicked on “backup & downloaded”. I’ve reached out to support and they’re extremely helpful but the sync is still not working for me. Other than this bug I do recommend this app because it’s great and taught me more than if I were to take a class at school lol

Best language app ever. I have tried many language learning sites and none of them compare to lingodeer. It has so many useful features like Flashcards and 5 minute quizzes that constantly reinforce your knowledge. The lessons are easy to learn and the app does well to hold your hand but not for too long. Many sites like Duolingo spend too much time focusing on vocab but Lingodeer has you speaking in full sentences almost immediately. All the lessons focus on the most important parts of the language and along with their game app it’s a fun and engaging experience. Lingodeer is best used for Asian languages but their other courses for French, German, Italian and so on are great as well. I wish I could give this app 6 stars. Try the free trial and see how you like it. The subscription fee is very cheap for all they provide you with and it’s worth every penny.

Such a beautiful app. So here’s the deal, get this, I spent 100 days trying to learn Vietnamese 🇻🇳 on Duo and never did it teach me greetings, negation, or questions in those 100 days. 😡 further when I’d try to check grammar points to improve my understanding the grammar points were minimal and vague. I switched to this beautiful 😍 app and I’ve already learned greetings 👋 as well as basic present tense sentence structure and pronouns in the first lesson! I used this app previously for Japanese 🇯🇵 to refresh my skills since I was rusty. I shouldn’t have tried something else by using Duo (suggested by a friend ) when starting Vietnamese because that was a 100 days time wasted when I could’ve been here on LingoDeer 🦌 getting results 😤🏆. Ten out of ten would recommend this beautiful app to learn a new language and refresh a previously studied one.

Great! A go to for non-romanized languages. Duolingo recently released their Korean course, and tbh it was very lackluster I was expecting more. I wanted to learn Korean so I did a bit of searching and came across this wonderful little app! It is perfect for learning Korean, Japanese, or Chinese. It allows you to download the course for offline learning which has to be my favorite part. I love the flashcard options for practicing which is something that Duolingo doesn't have built in. I also like how it gives you learning tips, they help a lot. My only suggestion would be for the Korean course (I'm not sure about the other courses) there should be a section at the beginning that has you write out the letters, they show you the stroke order. They should also have us write out the letters it would be a big help. All in all this is a great app for learning these languages you should give it a try!

Good app with some annoyances. I’ve been using this app for several weeks to learn Japanese grammar, after having learned kanji for 10 months. I originally tried out DuoLingo but found the audio to be really bad, the gamification/motivational elements to be far too in-your-face, and the performance to be abysmal (judging by how hot my phone got). LingoDeer doesn’t have any of those issues. Great voices, solid audio playback, straightforward, and my cpu doesn’t melt. I’m happy about that. Two things I’m not happy about: 1. The solution is read to you before you answer a question. Maybe this is to eliminate the possibility that I’d answer in a technically correct way that the system isn’t prepared to accept, but I feel like it defeats the purpose. It means that it’s not testing my grammar and vocabulary skills: it’s just testing my kana and kanji skills. I wind up turning my volume all the way down before questions, and then back up after I’ve answered, to hear it read to me. This is really annoying. I’d like for them to add an option to disable automatic readings and add a do-over button for cases where the desired answer was ambiguous. 2. There is no true dark mode support. You can choose a dark style for the quizzes and lessons, but the iOS keyboard will remain white, and the rest of the app will remain white as well. It’s blinding at night! Hope to see these two things improved.

good design, but many inconsistencies. app is well designed and addictive in a good way. I learned Japanese for 2 months on the paid version for 2hrs a day, but I’m now looking for an alternative. Why? This app failed to teach me basic reading. In the spelling exercise, when it specifically asks for a kanji answer, 99% of the time, I fail. I click on my ‘weak’ scoring answers: the app tests me on the hiragana spelling. Huh?! If I fail the kanji, I expect to be drilled on the kanji. It’s frustrating to be asked repeatedly to spell a word in hiragana when I know that that word only ever appears as a kanji in Japanese! Same for hiragana and katakana. ***The inconsistency in spelling usage throughout the app is my number one reason to stop using it.*** Too much time spent learning useless stuff. I went to Japan and kanas were pretty much useless on their own. The majority of everyday words are written as, or contain, kanjis. The grammar explanations were too brief to help me make sense of how sentences are constructed, when and how to use ‘de’ vs ‘he’ for example. What’s the deals with ‘ga’ vs ‘ha’, etc… The integrated dictionary was confusing: a new word is introduced with the meaning ‘to come and go’. The example sentence that follows immediately after translates the new word as ‘work’ when I click on it. This keeps happening, building up frustration.

Membership is not worth it.. A friend of mine recommended this app to me and I decided to try it out after two years of using Duolingo. At first, LingoDeer seemed like a perfect app and I was very excited to start learning Japanese. I finished with the Nationalities section and was ready to move on when I realized that to move on to the other sections, I would have to pay for a membership. All in all, it is kind of a waste of what could be s really good app. The app design and concept is great, but for what it is, it’s not worth paying for. Pretty much everything that you can do in this app that you would have to pay for, you can do on other apps for free. I was very disappointed by this app, and I hope that the developers can allow more content for non-member users. The one thing I did like about the app was the travel phrasebook. It’s a good idea, but I just wish there was more to it.

Best language education!. Definitely recommend buying a membership if you’re serious about language learning! This app has the BEST general language education I’ve seen; some apps focus on just grammar or just vocab, but this has it all—the grammar, vocab, sentence structure, speaking, reading, and writing. It’s an effective teaching method, and looks-wise, it’s clean and simple, and you can even adjust the appearance settings. But be warned: when you get an answer wrong, the lingodeer pops up SOBBING its eyes out, and the panic and guilt you feel for disappointing it is strong haha. Definitely makes you think twice before submitting an answer! It’s really helpful how you can click on any word in a sentence and an info box pops up with an explanation of the word and some example sentences with it. My only slight issue is that the romanisation for Korean is included in the tips section, and I wish it wasn’t—it’s just a bit of an eyesore haha. Also, one thing to note if you’re studying Korean: this app focuses on written Korean rather than spoken, so it’ll have you learn, for example, 이것 (which you would use when writing) rather than 이거 (used when speaking).

amazing.. i love lingodeer, and i came to it about a year ago and some change when i had to pay for another korean-teaching service. what mesmerized me about lingodeer was the fact that it was absolutely free and had a lot of knowledge packed into it. i got far into it, took a break for some months and when i came back there was suddenly a required option to pay for a subscription-based service. it was odd, especially because i couldn't go back and do the lessons i already accomplished, which was proof that it had become a paid service in the midst of my break. while i do pay for the service and still love the app and knowledge it contains (it has taught me a fairly large amount), the reason it isn't a five star review is just because of the fact that payment is required. i do understand it from a business point of view, but what drew me to the app a long time ago was the fact that it was free. it seemed more personal, more casual, like someone was offering to teach me korean to truly help better me without anything in return. that essence of lingodeer has been stripped now that money has been involved, and while, again, i still love and will use the app until i am advanced enough in korean, it isn't the same as it once was.

I really want to give this five stars, but... Okay, don’t get me wrong. This is by far the best app I’ve used for learning Japanese. Outdoes Duolingo even in terms of lessons and accommodations for different learning styles. However, it gets a little bothersome when I try to input kanji I already know into an answer and it gets marked as incorrect. Why is that? I shouldn’t have to type out “8,000 yen” as completely hiragana for it to be correct when that’s just not realistic, people would either write the number out or use kanji. I’d appreciate it if in another update you would consider including the kanji version for correct answers, especially to consider those who have studied up on their kanji. Also, might I suggest a feedback button within the app so users can quickly suggest to the staff suggestions such as these so we don’t have to write a whole review? That’s one thing that Duolingo does have that this app doesn’t.. Just stuff to consider.

Only get a couple lessons free then nothing more, have to pay otherwise. I thought it being a free app that you can learn only a certain amount then wait until the next day to access another lesson, where as with paid you can go quicker and have a more in-depth and broad range in comparison, like dictionary, up to date grammar/slang. No. It’s a lesson or two with a page about grammar, the two lessons were pretty good, it includes pronunciation and gets you into sentence structure, but, I get two lessons and that’s it? It’s not really a free app then is it if that’s all it offers. Other apps like Duolingo and Drops are free and give plenty to learn for free with the option to upgrade. In all, Lingodeer is seemingly pretty good for what it showed, but, frankly it’s absurd that nowhere does it mention you get only those lessons and nothing more then you have to pay. Please be upfront about it instead of irritating potential app users by leading them to wonder if the app is messed up by a bug or wasting their time wondering if it’s worth it or not to splurge money.

LingoDeer is a great supplement to language-learning!. As the title says, this application serves to be a complement or supplement to your language studies. It boasts a wide range of activities, games, and assessments that provide you with multi-faceted approaches to mastering your desired language. The curriculum is provided on a per-level basis, and is hence sufficient for solid ground work in a language (if you are not already self-studying), but as for me I have already taken two (2) years of learning Chinese Mandarin study before coming to LingoDeer. There are things this app has taught me that I haven’t previously known, which excites me to log back in and keep at it. I am currently using it for Japanese, Korean, Russian, Chinese, French, and occasionally Spanish. For best results, I highly recommend using this simply as a supplement to self-study or textbook learning (not limited to these avenues) as it is evidently meant to be. I await the developers’ addition of higher levels to the app — one thing I believe will really make this the absolute best language learning app out there, and my only qualm. As for now, though, my rating stands! This is only app I would ever suggest to another avid language learner, having tried many others in the past. Cheers!

New Subscription. I was able to access most of the lessons in the app previously, but now I can only access the first lesson and have to pay after that. I don’t have the money to spend on a subscription to learn languages, so I no longer use this app. I enjoyed it before the subscription came about, the lessons were nice, but it could have used a list of all Vocab and grammar learned (cause some of the vocabulary wasn’t on the list). I, as well as many of my fellow Korean learners, are no longer able to use this app due to the expensive subscription. I would have at least liked a notice before the transition, so I would know in advance. It just kind of felt like a slap in the face to anyone who wants to learn languages but doesn’t have money for traditional classes. People go to apps and online resources to learn because often times there is no where else to look for the knowledge. If you are willing to pay for it I would say go for it, but find another app if you’re looking for a free service.

Strongly encourage you to NOT get this app. My first lessons were really frustrating because it would not explain anything and you would have to know kana to be able to understand anything taught, starting at only lesson 1. Also this is most definitely a Duolingo copy. It follows the same basic format as Duolingo and the lessons are very similar to Duolingo. However what made me most frustrated about this app was the pay wall. It’s ridiculous to make us pay for basic lessons that are needed to learn the language. I have been spending my time trying to learn Japanese. I started off with Duolingo, eventually coming to the conclusion it was not right for me so I downloaded, first, Bunpo, which I was super impressed with until it locked me behind a pay wall, much like this app did. I would just like a high quality, and helpful app to learn Japanese that doesn’t require me to pay money. Why can’t this basic request, come to reality?

BEST LANGUAGE LEARNING APP EVER. I’ve used this app since I was 16, I turn 22 this year. I love seeing new languages being added! I wanna teach myself so many like polish and greek and stuff lol so I’m waiting for when they’re addeddd👀😁 This app does what others don’t: it teaches you the foundations. Other apps teach you a handful of words and phrases and then to learn more you have to subscribe to a monthly membership. Lingodeer was completely free but they did add a premium membership however you DONT have to subscribe to learn. Yes it unlocks more things but I’ve never needed to subscribe to learn languages. I would be fine with paying though bc this app is the best. Lingodeer teaches you the BASICS to start and breaks everything down. I’ve never had a problem understanding the material. You learn different categories at different levels so it’s not overwhelming and you can play games on lingodeer+ to study too! At points in the course you have to take “exams” to unlock more course work but honestly you can study and study and study. I’ve never failed an exam bc of that. They have different “modes” for the lessons. Classic mode for learning it and two challenge modes to reinforce the knowledge. I’m never using another language app.

Miss this app:(. The app is good. I found it really nice for learning the grammar (I was learning Japanese and Vietnamese). However, all good things must come to an end. I started using the app when it only taught Chinese,Japanese, and Korean. I feel like I expected the membership option to come, but I still found it a little insulting that I was halfway through the Japanese course when I got thrown back because I couldn’t pay for a membership. I guess I was really excited because I had found a free language app that was better than Duolingo. I wish you guys would have just put in a ridiculous amount of adds instead of getting rid of all of my lessons and making me pay for material I was already almost completely done with. Other than the expected paywall that seemingly every language app forces, Good job. I would recommend this to anyone willing enough to spend money on lessons.

An awesome app that is easy to use!. I don’t normally write reviews but I had to write one about LingoDeer! I started learning Korean about 4 months ago on my own with the Talk To Me In Korean workbooks and was struggling to retain what I had learned but I found with the lessons LingoDeer has, that I was able to remember what I learned a lot better and a lot quicker too! Also with LingoDeer, you can go to a specific part of a word and hear how it should be pronounced but with workbooks, you can’t really do that. You can also slow down the audio a bit to hear the pronunciation a bit better. The reviews you can do is also a really good feature because you can do so by either listening to or reading a word/sentence. The only thing I think would be nice is if you could type out the sentence on a keyboard character by character instead of just picking the syllables. Example: for 이 아이는 중국 사람입니다 you would pick each syllable (example: 이 then 아 then 이 and so on until you complete the sentence) instead of writing character by character on a keyboard (example: ㅇ then ㅣ then ㅇ and so on) But other than that I love the app and would definitely recommend this to anyone who is struggling with learning by themselves from a workbook!

Learning Japanese with LingoDeer. My journey with LingoDeer started this year in January (2021). I’d been searching for a serious app to study Japanese with for quite awhile, and like many, came from that quirky app with the bird ( won’t name it, but if you know you know). I felt like I was just missing something. I started using LingoDeer everyday. I suddenly found myself pronouncing things I had initially struggled with, speaking in full sentences and being able to remember things a lot easier. I was actually speaking in full grammatically correct sentences. Now I’m still a beginner, but to me this was amazing. I’m older, and a lot of people doubt I can learn Japanese. But when I shared what I could do because of LingoDeer, they were quite impressed. So, if you’re serious about learning Japanese, LingoDeer has proven itself ( to me at least)! Highly recommend this app!

GET RID OF THE DEAL POPUPS. Listen LingoDeer, I love you. I’m learning Korean and I’m REMEMBERING it and I’m so excited. This really is a great language app. But for the love of GOD, get rid of the premium deal popups. Every time you run a new promotion, I CANNOT ACCESS MY LESSONS BECAUSE YOUR POPUPS WILL NOT LET ME. I AM PAYING FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION I DON’T NEED THE DEAL. And there is no way to opt out of the promotion either. I click “start”, I get the promotion, I exit out of the popup window, I click “start” again, and another promotion window pops up. It will not let me continue my lessons. I can’t click on ANYTHING without the promotion popup coming up, and I can’t opt out of them. I’m doomed to NOT study Korean for as long as you’re running your promotions. It really is frustrating. I contacted you about this problem through the app and I haven’t heard back. I just want to be able to do my lessons without having to wait three days for your promos to be over. It really is a nuisance. Please please PLEASE change this.

I’ve tried +20 learning apps and this is #1!. I’m someone who loves the idea of learning Korean but when it actually came down to studying Korean as a young adult it was very hard. I always make excuses for having a busy life for the reason why I couldn’t learn Korean but this app take that all away. It makes me really happy to learn while I’m on this app. I enjoyed the free run so much that I purchased a three month subscription but I’m pretty sure after the three months is over I’m going to get a year subscription because there’s so much this app can teach me. I started off on this app and it honestly feels like a game even though I’m learning Korean and the more I learn the more excited I am to continue with this app. Even if it’s only 30 minutes a day (you can do more or less if you want) it’s still amazing!

The best learning app I’ve used! Except for one thing. When I downloaded this I was excited to see if it was different than other learning apps. And it was an amazing choice! There’s something different about LingoDeer that makes it better. I love how when we finish lessons, there’s a story that goes with it. But just one thing, I told my friend about this because we wanted to learn korean together. But she had a problem when she wanted to learn “Determiner”. She wanted to learn the first lesson, but it said that she had to use pro. When she told me at first, I was confused because when I used this, I’ve never had a problem like that. For me, everything was free. But when she used it, she had to use pro. Maybe it’s just a new thing but it would help if you could answer this question for me. :)

Great idea but.... I am by no means fluent in Spanish but I do understand an adequate amount of Spanish. Going through the “test out” function was extremely frustrating. For example, the app gives you an English sentence to translate in Spanish. If you don’t know how to say that sentence in Spanish, you can click on the microphone to listen to it. However, it is extremely difficult to understand the woman’s voice verbalizing the sentence. The only way you can progress through the lesson is to spell each word correctly. You then move on to additional scrambled letters so that you may attempt to spell the next word correctly, so on and so forth. On multiple occasions, the English sentence that was being spoken in spanish was either incomprehensible or incorrect. To progress through the lesson, it literally comes down the the letter. If you can’t understand what is being said or if the sentence is being said incorrectly, how are you supposed to move forward?

I love this app. This is a great app. This review is based on my use of the Mandarin lessons. The lessons are scaffolded so you start out with basic subject-verb-object sentences and adds other parts of speech in as the lesson progresses. It covers listening, speaking, reading, and writing. There are videos of native speakers saying various sentences for listening comprehension questions. The speaking tasks that appear later in the lessons have speech recognition that lets you know how you did. There are a lot of other good things about the app, too. I could go on and on. I only have one thing to ask for, and that would be maybe two more levels of bigger fonts. I have bad eyesight and the largest font is still too small for me to see the tone marks.
