Have used the Hawaii app for Kauai and Maui islands. Have used the older app and the upgraded app on 3 separate trips. Love them! Very comprehensive and humorous. Looking forward to using them again for future trips elsewhere!

Excellent!. We heard about Gypsy on Cruise Critic where it was highly rated. As the driver, I appreciated getting early warnings for turns, stops etc. Also great to have the description of a point-of-interest long enough beforehand to decide whether or not to stop in. Lots of opportunity to partake or pass by and Gypsy adapts to your choices. Like other reviewers, it greatly enhanced or visit. We saw great waterfalls and other highlights that otherwise would have been overlookeed. We enjoyed the stories in between stops and liked the narrator’s voice and personality. We had no glitches in using it. I also like that I can play back the stories months later using the preview mode. I would definitely purchase more Gypsy. If I had known it was this good, I would also have gotten the Oahu edition too. Well done devs! I’ll be looking for more locales to try out.

Get this app now!. What a great app! This app helped me to discover places I wouldn’t explore. I had a list of places where I planned to go, but Gypsy made it easier to go where I planned to go and much more!! It’s silly to say that I felt safe with the app knowing where I was going, he gives you warning if you should continue driving or not, also when I didn’t have Signal I know gypsy wouldn’t let me down! 🤣 highly recommended! Don’t listen to the bad reviews! It’s worth it.

Must have if you have a rental on Kauai. This app is like having an uncle who moved here years ago showing you around the island, corny jokes and all. But it’s really a great tour and will show you things you wouldn’t see or give you history or facts that you’d never know. Sure you could look it up or research places to go, but this will tell you about them as you drive there and give you directions along the way. Well worth the few bucks.

Good but not perfect. Recycles content from other islands. Several technical issues, including terrible mapping that makes it hard to see where you are and impossible to scale/zoom the map to see a larger area. Audio issues caused narration to be doubled up with a delay.

Personal tour guide. Not wanting to join a group tour with a set schedule we downloaded this app hoping we could learn about the island on our own time and without others interjecting their own agenda. Our route was stop and go at our own will. We came and went to the same location several times and it was nice to have the information repeated, as we expected and enjoyed. I would recommend this app to anyone who wants to keep social distancing and still enjoy receiving information about locations and destinations that are so worth the trip!

I can’t recommend this enough. Someone on the plane to Kauai suggested that we get this app for our stay here. We used it today and were very impressed. Well worth the price! A tour guide would have cost 10x more per person. I want one one these for my home town of Salt Lake City just to find all the great spots I don’t know about.

Personal tour guide!. This app was so valuable on our recent stay on Kauai. It was like having our very own personal tour guide! There were so many wonderful sites that were pointed out to us that we would have never known about. Highly recommend this app to anyone visiting Kauai.

These Guides are Great. We used the Maui guide last year and loved it. We got this one for Kauai this time. These guides are super informative and help you really maximize your time. So much better than wondering around on your own. The history and stories are great too.

Not at all disappointed and loved the tour!. This app saved us spending $120 a person to sit on a motor coach tour for 8 hours. We hd the freedom to stop and go where we wanted and spend as much time at any site. We could skip what we didn't have time for and the tour just keeps moving to the next highlight. I loved hearing the history of Hawaii and learning that Kaua'i is the oldest island and the last to retain its independence. This is a brilliant idea and I will use this app again when visiting other places. Bravo!!!

Must Have. This app has been very helpful for my wife and I on the island! The app uses your GPS on your phone to know where you are and guides you as you travel. We would have missed several cool attractions if we did not get this app. I highly recommend using this app!

Second thing to get after your reservations!. Worth every penny! We saw and did things we hadn’t even thought of which made our visit better than we imagined!

Amazing way to sightsee. Loved this app to sightsee on the island of Kauai! We went at our own pace and the directions & details about the island were perfect! Definitely going to look into this on other trips we take!

This app made my vacation. Honestly the best vacation I have ever had in my life mostly due to this app. We planned a few things to do on the island and left the rest to the app. It was amazing. I recommend it to everyone I know coming to the islands.

Will Not Leave Home Without it!!!. We first heard about GyPSy Guide when we went from Banff to Jasoer. We found it incredibly informative and entertaining. So on our first trip to Hawaii, I got the island package and first used it on Kauai. I really can’t say enough superlative words about the app. It was obvious on the road to Jasper how it worked because there was only one road, but it worked just as beautifully with choices. “Fred” helped us choose where to go, gave us lots of information about the history, culture, geology, and flora/fauna and weather. It tells you what is a must see and what to do or pass up depending on time. He speaks with humor and has a good voice. I like how he reminds of previous stories and continues them at various points. It was great for our 2 days on Oahu and then the 7 days on the Big Island. “Fred” even did a great job of explaining not only what to see in Volcano National Park and how to use our limited time wisely, but also about the important geology, history and biology related to the park. I seriously will purchase every single one available for every road trip or vacation we do from now on!!!!

Fun app. All the Hawaiian Island GypSy apá are great. The directions are great, the stories are fun, the history is interesting. You can spend a lot of money on a tour but this app is like having your own personal guide but you are in control of your destinations. The hints for good and drinks are great as well. One of the best purchases made on our visit to Kaua’i.

A trip saver!. I was so frustrated with the books and pamphlets I had bought for this trip. They were so hard to navigate. Day 2 hubs wishes aloud that there was an app like the CD we had bought for the Road to Hana on Maui. Bingo!! This app saved our sanity! It was so enjoyable and informative! Only wish we had known about it to begin with. We bought the bundle deal as we are headed to the Big Island tomorrow for a week. I will definitely recommend this to my friends who are planning to travel to Hawaii!

Made my Vacation to Kuai so much better.. I can’t say enough about the app. Works with out cell service. It was like having a tour guide go with you through the whole island. I can’t wait to go the other other islands of Hawaii and buy the other apps.

Great Application For Touring Kauai. My wife and I loved this app as it saved us from spending tons of money on tours. This app take you to all the popular places and some places hat are not so popular. The app tells great stories and educates you on Hawaii history. I cannot recommend this app enough and will use other versions of and when I go to any other islands. Thank you so much Gypsy you were a highlight of our trip!!!!

It’s like having a personal tour guide!. We used the Gypsy guide when we were in Maui two years ago. Now that we are in Kaua’i, we had to get the Kaua’i version. We love hearing stories about the island and also directions to go to the must see places. He even recommends places to eat where the locals eat. It’s a must have app, if you want to get a personal tour of the island. As the other users have I did experience 2 locations where the voice overlapped and echoed. Hopefully, they’ll fix the issue. Better than Shaka for Kuaui. We have used gypsy tours before (for ice fields pkwy in Canada -excellent) but decide for some bad reason to try Shaka guides for Waimea canyon tour on kuaui. Came right back to gypsy for the rest of the island! Great directions, good history and other info. Really enhanced driving around the island.

Must Buy!. I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but I have to say that buying this app was one of the best decisions I made in Kauai. When you drive around, the app detects where you are and gives expert advice and entertainment. It tells about the sites, and about the history of the islands in general and Kauai in particular. We saw many things and learned a great deal more than we would have otherwise. It added to our enjoyment of a wonderful vacation. The narrator is pleasant and engaging. Everyone who drives in Kauai should buy this app.

Kaua’i Guide. So thankful I did my research and was able to find this great app before traveling! This app is amazing and plan to utilize again on future trips! I definitely recommend Gypsy Guide if you want to learn about Hawaiian history, save money, and get to see so many cool things!

Informative, entertaining, and accurate directions. Glad we found this app recommendation in one of the many brochures we picked up on Kaua‘i when we arrived. Accurate directions to all of the major sights while we were driving around the island along with information about the sights, history of the island, some dining and foods to try at different locations as you approached different areas, and some entertainment jokes and quotes. Very well and easy to use app that made our stay on Kauai and getting around much easier.

Great Find. This was a great find for our trip to Kaua’i. This was the first Gypsy Guide that we downloaded. We found quite a few stops that we would have missed if we didn’t have this guide as we drove. It also shared a good amount of history and local information that enhanced our trip. We had such a good experience with it that we have since used it in Zion, Bryce, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks with a great experience in those locations as well.

Used for Maui, Now Kauai - Great App. This app has all the little details you would want as a tourist, including local insider details like where to go and park for beaches (this is helpful when locals or even resorts put up no parking signs even though they aren't supposed to), best places to shop, and also just enough history. We used the Maui version two years ago, and forgot how great it was until we got it again for Kauai. Will definitely use again for another vacation. Highly recommended.

Don’t miss this one!. We used your tour app for our trip to Kaua’i and it made our vacation even better. It was so easy to use! We split our trip into three different days - one day north, one day south and west, and one day closer to the airport at Lihue. The app picked up right where we were and instantly knew what direction we were headed and gave great guidance. The directions, advice, and timing of the comments really enhanced the trip. We can’t imagine how much we would have missed without it.

A must tour guide!. If you are looking to tour Kauai Hawaii or Maui you need these apps! They are so worth the money and you will find places and learn things you would have never known. I will download these tours everywhere I go, wherever offered! A MUST HAVE APP!

Gypsy Guide worked for us!. Many little things add up to a big A-Plus! He gives just the right amount of “heads up” before each turn, with real-like markers that were easy to follow. We enjoyed the commentary, the history and even the real-life warnings about water conditions. We have seen local news reports of tourists who made really bad decisions when flash floods came through. We had a freat and safe time in Kauai. Mahalo!

Best app for touring. We downloaded this app at the airport in Maui while waiting for our flight to Kauai bc we had used one of these in Maui and enjoyed it so much. Our kids nicknamed the narrator “James” while listening to the one in Maui and were excited he was back for Kauai. The information and suggestions he makes as you drive are great. Not too long but good information. We used this app almost every day of our 9 days on the island. Very informative!

Utterly Disappointed. This app came so highly recommended and I was excited to use it on my recent trip to Kauai. However, the narrator’s voice is annoying and most of the information he provides is “filler”. It feels as though he’s spouting facts for the sake of showing off how much information he knows and he comes off like an annoying tour guide on a giant bus filled with camera toting tourists wearing fishing hats. (You know the kind!) I wanted detailed information about points of interest along my driving route, not a narrated guidebook spewing out so much information that we couldn’t even carry on a conversation or listen to music in the background. Some ideas for future updates: 1) Ability to change narrator’s voice 2) Ability to choose an “expedited” version that only discusses points of interests that you should look at or pull off to see without all the intermediary fluff 3) Ability to “preload” the points of interest that you want to hear about since you are able to see the routes and discussion points prior to driving.

Excellent source of information for holiday. We just returned from our honeymoon to Hawaii. I purchased both the Maui and Kauai editions for our holiday as we planned to see all the sights in our rental SUVs. I was prepared with iPhone cords to keep my phone fully charged as we put on over 400 miles using both vehicles. Yes the entire trip we enjoyed the commentary from the gentleman with the facts and fun. He helped us find some places that the GPS missed in Hawaii. We HIGHLY recommend these applications for individuals looking to explore on their own.

Great app. This was a real find and worth every penny. The positioning worked perfectly with information coming on at the right time, every time. History and background information was wonderful, and we often turned on "Mr. Kauai" even though we had been on the same road before. If you are touring Kauai, get this app. You won't be disappointed. As already noted, there were two places where there was an echo (a double transmission on top of each other), but that was a minor flaw, and we could still understand what was being said. If we go to the other islands, this app will be downloaded before we go. Very useful.

So worth it!. Best $7 we spent on this vacation. We saw way more things and learned more about the island’s history than we would have without our trusty guide. The driving directions were spot on and very detailed and helpful such as “make a slight left at the palm tree and hedge,” or “make sure you don’t park on the grass driveway.” We also appreciated how he gave us options for side trips and explained enough in advance that we had time to decide what to do. We also experienced the two glitches, but they resolved by exiting the app and starting again. Our guide was fun to listen to, and made our vacation much more efficient. Great job!

Wonderful experience. This app is definitely worth it! We learned so much from the guide and he tells you what is coming up and you can make the decision as to whether you want to stop or not at the attractions coming up! We have used this on Maui and Kaua’i! Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Brilliant. We bought the Kauai version. Detailed explanation of Hawaiian people traditions and culture. Information on what is popular to eat was very informative. Location specific information while driving is a brilliant idea Need more of these guides for places around the world

Must have for Kauai newbies. This was our first visit to the Hawaiian islands and this app was a phenomenal help to us. Not only does it comfortably guide you to all the most important attractions, but it gives you some background on Hawaiian history in the stretches between them. Best few dollars I’ve spent in a long time.

Informative. We used this for our entire self guided tour. I wish I had known about it when we were in Maui - I would have saved on one or two of the expensive tour buses. We appreciated the additional facts and history. We liked the recommendations. Loved the app. Thank you!

We feel more like residents, not “touroids” or tourists.. A wonderful app to guide us in culture, history and current local trivia to make us fee more like a resident than visitor. Because I had this app, I recall helping other tourists with info I gleaned from it! We will be returning to Kauai since we own a timeshare Ther, and this makes us feel like we’re at and extension of our home. I’ve recommended it to several people we loaned our timeshare to, and it’s been great.

Great App. We really enjoyed the narrator. He gave so much information and history. Even when we went off path he gave information. I would highly recommend it.

So worth the $$. Ok, so we stayed in Princeville and wanted to go to Waimea Canyon. This app made the time fly, and the narrator was fun. I know other reviewers said he was annoying- but I found him to be funny and nice to listen to. Kinda reminded us of Jeff Bridges. Anyway! I totally will recommend this app to all my friends and family. It’s probably the best $$ spent on vacation so far! We saw a lot more things because of this app. A swinging bridge, waterfalls, salt ponds, incredible beaches ... plus we learned a lot about the island’s history along the way. I wish there were more locations available, perhaps along the California coast?! *hint hint* 😉

Loved it!. My grandkids always wanted to hear what “Albert” (that’s what they called him😉) has to tell us as we were driving. Love these guide apps from this developer. Love this app! This is my third guide app from this developer and always enjoy the structured sequences for traveling as well as history and a little humor mixed in! You can pick up the tour anywhere even without cell network as it uses gps for audio prompt and is also good for map and directions. Enjoy your own personal guide in your car it makes the trip way more fun!

Great app. Great find and worth every penny. I am not easily convinced to spend money on an app but this time I did and I was impressed with the accuracy on the turns. Also the history of the island aswell as the relevant information regarding viewpoints or other sightseeing was on point. At time I thought he was quite funny. Recommending this app.

A must have while in Hawaii. We loved this app. We were on Kauai for the first time and this was a terrific way to get some history, special places to go, and other key information we otherwise would have missed.

Visiting from Oahu. The spouse and I planned a somewhat last minute trip from. Oahu to Kauai. Being the summer months, all the activities we wanted to do were fully booked, (tubing, napali coast, kayaking, etc...). We downloaded this app in a forced effort to do our own thing! This tour did not disappoint, we took several side excursions recommended by the your guide, and with the point outs, spent 2 days touring Kauai doing our own thing, and had a blast!!!! The tour guide is informative,funny, and very knowledgeable on current Kauai, the highlights and directions we’re super accurate. The spouse and I would Highly recommend!!!!

Must have. Excellent. Very informative and fun. Most of our trip to Maui and Kauai were spent driving around, listening and following this app. So glad we were told about this before booking tour groups. Great. This app was great. It gave us directions like google maps and told us about lots of different beaches to go to that would have been difficult to find on our own. Great addition to touring Kauai. This audio program is a great addition to our drive around Kauai. The history is interesting as are the tips of what to see. The driving directions are also helpful.

The travel guide you deserve. Get in your own car, set your own schedule and see al the sights you want. Gypsy guide will tell you all the things you need to know when you need to know them.

Don’t drive the island without this app. We first learned of GPS audio tours last year before we went to Maui. We purchased and GyPSy version and it was great. This being our first time to Kauai we made no hesitation in purchasing the next island . The app does a great job on getting you around the island and taking you down roads that you would never turn down on their own. As a Canadian no need to worry about data if your device has built in GPS like iphone (iPads don’t work). We had a very rainy trip and that meant lots of car time to kill time, this app saved our trip. To those doing bus tours, save your money rent a car for the day and use this app. In the summer we are going to Yellowstone and plan to use the app for first time on the mainland.

Highly Recommend!. Can’t recommend this app enough. We didn’t download the app until a couple of days into our stay and we certainly glad we did. The app took us to places we would never have found on our own. It’s like having your personal tour guide. If you have the chance, stop for the soup at Hamura Saimin! If it weren’t for this app you’d not likely stop and would miss this great soup!

Not worth it. The app is too overwhelming. Opening and seeing 200 audio is points on a 2-hour drive road is extremely overwhelming and most are of zero interest. If the app prioritized the most interesting points, we could realistically have gotten out at say 5-10 most interesting spots. Instead, seeing 200 points on a tiny area is overwhelming and useless.

Great app. We were directed to your app through Passingthru.com. What a great app. We did the west side of the island first and hiked in Waimea Canyon. The history and stories of the area were amazing and much better then we could’ve done trying to read about it. It made the trip very enjoyable. Then we did the east side the next day. Again, the stories, the places to stop and see or to ignore were invaluable. Thanks for the hard work and humor you put into this app. We are recommending it to everyone.

Essential. A great enhancement to a tour. Our narrator, we call him Seymour, is the perfect guide. Points out the essentials and also, importantly, the non-essentials. We also used Maui GPS apps, same outfit. Also great. Worth it.
