Ads make game hang up. If i am trying to have a duel and the game can’t locate an opponent for me, it closes me completely out of the app, and it takes about 40 seconds to open back into the app when that happens. Trying to play duels is also extremely frustrating if you aren’t willing to pay to go ad-free. The candy crush ad for example won’t let me X out (I have waited as long ad 90 seconds for the x to appear) but if I press “play free” to get it over with it takes me to the crush app download so apparently you have to download candy crush before you can play another scrabble duel. Or you can just close out of scrabble go and come here to give scrabble go a poor review because so many ads crash the app. Also it is Hard to figure out why they keep delaying play time to award trophies, which don’t seem to mean anything as far as rewarding you with a better experience. If anything, I seem to get a higher number of vowel-free boards as I gain trophies. The screen is now frozen on final fantasy Install now even after I have closed out of scrabble go completely to try to reboot.

Improved but still highly flawed. First, creeps do NOT use the chat function in this app to track you, for the simple reason that everyone knows that the chat function doesn't work at all, so... I guess that's a positive? There are plenty of legit annoyances to complain about: for instance, there's the "multiplayer mode", which for anyone who thinks about it for more than five seconds, doesn't make any sense. What are the chances that more than two players - total strangers, in nearly every case - will be available to play at the same time? Absolutely zero. Finally, something is very wrong with the dictionary. The word "rabbited" means "ran away". It does NOT mean "rabbit"! There are other examples, with which I won't trouble you, but some of the dictionary entries don't even sound like proper English... like they were written by a 3-year-old or something. And now, Scopely has added a new horror: the FREAKING CARD COLLECTIONS. As if the thousands of tile variants weren’t enough to completely turn off lovers of the core Scrabble game. AAAGGGHHH! CONCENTRATE ON IMPROVING THE BASIC GAME PLAY, AND FORGET ALL THIS MEANINGLESS FRIPPERY! We all know that Scopely doesn't give a flying you-know-what about the user experience, evidenced by the fact that there is no means of requesting tech support... so it's almost a given that nobody will even bother to read this, but... in case they do...

Multiple ads and spam in my email. I love Scrabble and initially enjoyed this game until the multiple ads started popping up. I understand the needs the ads, but when it’s the same ad that I am not allowed to click out of, or an ad where there is no way to click out of it until a certain amount of time and/or clicks happen, that’s when I get mad. Of the ads/apps that did not allow me to click out immediately, I promise I will never buy/play/add them. Annoying to the point of being infuriating. And to make matters worse, my email inbox has been full of spam since I added this app/game, not to mention a sudden barrage of spam phone calls. Grrrr. I foolishly did not think about them tracking my info until it was too late. Most apps will give the option up front about opting out, but I never got it here. When I went into their privacy section I could not believe the pages of tracking info that is listed! I like Scrabble, but not enough for this. This is unscrupulous in my opinion. Going to delete app.

Better match matching. I would give you guys five stars. But it's the matchmaking that irritates me the most; I'm sick and tired of it recommending players to play against when they're not even online to play. The first time I was in a tournament (which was recommended by the computer by the way), I made the first move, and the person I was paired with didn't play for three days, so I forfeited the match. Then I traded a second time, and the person the computer matched me up at least made the first move before disappearing for two days. so far this has happened four times so that’s four matches I had to forfeit from before someone telling me that if the person doesn’t play don’t forfeit the computer will automatically make them the loser depending on who has the highest or lowest score… if this is why the truth why did I sit there for three days I had a way higher score than the other person you guys need to add a sleep or away button or something. To be honest, I don’t care for board games. I hate them. I don’t have the patience for them, and these people are a clear example of why I don’t play with others online and would rather play solo matches or against the computer. Please fix this if you can add a status light or something showing that the person is actually playing in real time or something.

Why is there so much crap on this app!?. Bring back the old app, or charge me $25 to get rid of all the crap, all we want is to play Scrabble. I’m not sure you are aware of your core audience, especially now that we are all stuck at home with nothing to do. I don’t need to be rewarded, or collect anything. I like the average word score to help match evenly. But most of the other rating stuff makes no sense. Also, why is challenge not an option? Why can’t we turn of the green and red “word” indicator? It’s basically cheating/fishing for words. The game should let you play any word and you should be able to challenge.......you know......like SCRABBLE!?!? Put down a fake word, lose a turn!?! This app seems like it has been made by people who have never actually sat down with a Scrabble board and been forced to rack your brain for a word you heard once in seventh grade, but aren’t sure how to spell it, if you think you’re close you go for it, maybe a bluff, maybe not.....you know....like Scrabble!? Also, I’m not sure this is in the traditional rules, but my family has always played to keep the blanks in play by switching them out for the actual letter if you have it, might be a fun option....

Review. The regular scrabble Game is good, but I agree it’s too glitzy. The art work is amazing but this new bag thing is both annoying and boring . Please get rid of it. I can’t imagine many like it. I feel that the majority of my games are against the computer bots. I would like to know which ones. I feel maybe they throw too many games to me. I am good, quite good actually, but not THAT good. I do not know why you hide this. Surely you have plenty players. I am also plagued by men wanting, not to play scrabble, but to have a relationship. Most are U.K. I think they are looking for an .American sugar mama. When I don’t answer their come ond by agreeing to email or other chats they resign. I am not amused. Surely other women have complained. They have the best sob stories. I suspect it is the same man or just a few. Their attempts at conversation are the same. I would like to be able to report them at the time as inappropriate. I enjoy what few brief conversations I have had with real competitors.

Absolutely horrible!. Wow! Way to ruin a classic. It looks like a magical unicorn barfed all over it. All these extras, colors, nonsense, gems, treasure boxes, required payment for the teacher (scholar) and detracting from the original are the reasons this game would receives a one star rating. Also, there is NO way the app has the ratings it appears to unless parents allowed their three year olds to play with it and push buttons. Can’t see it appealing to anyone else unless you hate ACTUAL Scrabble for some reason. What a shame! Just fix it so we can play Scrabble please. I’d actually truly like to know which individuals are responsible for this garbage? For example, when shuffling, the letters bounce around like little trolls hopping on mushrooms. Why would that be appealing? Just shuffle them! There are few greater sounds to a game player than the shuffling of letters in a card or Scrabble game (real or digital) than that shuffling. Has anyone responsible for the destruction of online Scrabble actually ever played Scrabble or just Candy Crush? I’d vote for more ads since the aim of Scopely is clearly just to make money. I’d rather keep it the same but watch an ad after every play than all these dollar store bells and whistles. Just stop or create a new one for real players.

Its not just the ads, or the frequency….. There are so many ads, yes, and $10 PER MONTH to get rid of them, which is more than some streaming services is a but much, but thats not what got me to delete the app. It was while I’m at the ice rink, while my daughter is skating, and despite my phone being on silent, an ad comes on at high volume “I’M A 34DD!” before I can close the app. Ads that don't respect volume settings crosses the line for me. Not to mention I had to use facebook to log in, you should be able to get my gender from that, and maybe targeting me, a man, with bra ads isn’t the smartest thing? Aside from the cost of ad free, and the technical problem of ads ignoring silent mode, the final bit that was annoying is that it drinks battery life like nothing I’ve seen. I would play for 15 minutes or so and my iPhone was hot to the touch. This would also lead to the app starting to become less responsive. The game itself worked fine otherwise, and the adventure mode was fun, but its nowhere near worth it. A real shame this and Words with Friends are unable to provide a quality app experience at a reasonable price. The free to play model works for other games with a good experience, and the whales pay for the cosmetics. I have no idea why the ad model works here at all, because these ads are about as ineffective as possible.

Crashes/freezes all the time!!. 2.5 star rating I love the game of scrabble in general and I find myself on the verge of deleting this app all the time but then not doing so last minute. This app freezes ALL THE TIME, either mid game, right when I open (with a black screen) or during an add which is the most frustrating. At first I thought it was just me but my cousin and mom both have the game and they experience it too. I have often found myself having to close the app to get it to work. My family and I have been so confused why some words are fine and others aren’t when they are correct entries. There has also been several times where I play a word that is most definitely an actual word (ex: “file” or “saving”) and the game doesn’t recognize it as a word. But when I close and reopen the game it’ll then recognize as such. Sometimes it won’t recognize it at all (but will recognize the words “Khi” or “za”). So it just gets annoying to play with such a bare bones app that barely seems to be developed. My advice: if you find a different but similar enough scrabble app; go with that one instead. Save yourself the headache.

Disappointing Money Grab. Many years ago I had purchased the EA sports version of this app. I had taken a hiatus from playing and recently decided to pick it back up and was bummed to find out that the EA version had been mothballed. I downloaded this version of the game it was completely disgusted. It took a while to figure out that you could wade through the ADHD candy crush version of games they offered to fined a Version close to the original. However there’s no purchase option for the app, You have to pay these jokers quarterly to keep from being bombarded by ads for other moronic and insulting games this company peddles. I supposedly received a free three month trial version of the ad free game. That lasted about six days and then the janky ads came back. I get it, the old version it was a one off sale for the developer. Now they load this game up with multiple add-on charges that used to be part of the game. I just don’t want to spend $32 a year to play ad free. Yes, 32 a year. Very disappointing. Hasbro should be ashamed of themselves for letting this game become what it has. I plan to delete it off my phone and try to find an alternative. Besides, based on the level of play so far, I don’t think the real serious Scrabble users that were on the EA version are playing on this one.

Scrabble?!?!. I have played the original scrabble game against the computer thousands of times for years as a way to destress and clear my head. Scrabble Go, on the other hand, is the epitome of stress. Feels like I’m playing scrabble at a Las Vegas casino! Icons flashing, animated faces popping into view with every single move and diamonds raining down and then suddenly in the middle of a game I have to draw cards and amass points. I shut the app, no thank you! This isn’t scrabble and it’s definitely not conducive to coming up with any meaningful words to play. I’ll go back to the old Scrabble until they take it down in June and then bid the whole game farewell. What on earth were you guys thinking? Have you done any research into your average scrabble player?!? Who wants to draw cards and place bets every few rounds of words?!? I’ve never written a review before but this thing you purport to be scrabble was so appalling that I just had to post! Edit: I scrolled through some of the five star reviews and the amount of incorrectly spelled words, flimsy language and grammatical mistakes in these reviews is amazing! Who on earth writes that badly and plays a word game?!

TOO MANY ADS!. Can I PLEASE complete a solo game without being interrupted by an ad after every word I submit? I just closed the game today after 1 solo game and 3 words into the second one, because there were so many ads it wasn't even fun to play! My mom and I used to play this game together a few years ago and I know there was ads, but I'm pretty sure I could finish a game without watching an ad after every turn! I like to watch extra ads for rewards, so please stop putting so many during game. I think a lot of people also watch the extra ads for rewards. I don't mind that in an online game after a turn is OVER I have to watch an ad, that makes perfect sense. But putting an ad after every word I submit in a solo game that could literally take me 2 minutes to complete (the same amount of time it takes some people to think of a word in an online match) IS TOO MUCH! I don't watch the extra ads now, because I've had enough. I'm sorry to sound rude, but the amount of ads are really ruining my experience.

Fun But Annoying. I enjoy playing this game, but there are so many annoying aspects. Let’s start by the fact that I had nowhere to post feedback other than here. I tried to do through the game, but the chat buttons the bot directed me too were not on my screen. There is no way to talk to a human being through “contact us” either. The animations are way too long and intrusive. I don’t collect points unless it’s a high value, b/c it’s an actual chore to do so. I’m sure it has also been said, too many ads, though I tend to forgive that more as a developer’s gotta make a living. Still, I would appreciate if that could be done in a different way. Last thing on my mind is that the app glitches during ads occasionally and I lose the benefit I was supposed to gain by watching it in the first place. I would give a higher rating if not for these issues. Update: Apparently, the company has no issues with taking the rewards out of my inbox. I have written several complaints about this which have fallen on deaf ears. Though I am playing the “free” version, I have watched their gazillion ads and deserve what I earned. Game is fun, but I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle.

Do Not Trust Them! They refuse to delete account.. This is a shady company! I’ve been trying to delete my account for almost a week now. I filled everything out online as their agreement notes. It didn’t get deleted so I emailed their customer service. Someone named Maxx contacted me asking me for the same exact information that I already filled out online. They ask for so many details and I had already deleted the app itself. I told him why do I need to provide the information a second time? Then someone named Mark contacted me and said their support online form has nothing to do with them! So I had to download the app again! It’s good for their ratings. I sent all the information again! Nobody responded. I followed up again. This time they sent an automated response saying the ticket is closed! I checked and they’ve closed my ticket without deleting my account. I was very clear in my last email to them that I’ll send the information again. Even after providing all the information they asked, they did not delete my account. Do not trust them. It’s all about keeping accounts open, refusing to delete accounts and having you download the app again - all for their own gain.

Horrible user experience — get it together, Scrabble!. I really wanted to like this app; I love scrabble and would play it with friends all the time if I could. But this app is so incredibly and frustratingly disappointing! There are so many ads; some after games, after single turns, after checking a different part of the menu… I tried to buy “no ads” but they only allowed me a few DAYS without them (a total rip off!). Friends of mine described the app as “literal cancer” and it makes me guilty that I even suggested the app in the first place. Scrabble, do better! And please make a mode where you can play others without the option of power-ups… It’s so annoying to try and play an “honest” game when your opponent keeps using word finders and refreshers that don’t exist in real life. It makes you look like a sell-out. Two stars because, technically, you folks DO provide the game, but zero more because it’s so bad that even the most passionate players I know (myself included) have all QUIT because of how awful this app is. Fix it and you would have so many more players… please.

Friendly game turned into legit scam. I’ve been playing off the old/new app over 10 years l. The odds in some adventure/challenge modes are impossible. No player not even grand master bot could possibly win the upper levels. The racks become more and more rigged similar to when playing master and grand master computer mode. You cannot get a obtain a rack to work off of its not randomized. I can accept in that because it’s free. But you cannot advertise a challenge mode as achievable without paying money. Users need to know upfront whether or not the mode is possible without extra payments. This is a lawsuit worthy. User expectations should be clear in a family friendly game when it’s impossible to play based on skill alone. The racks are without doubt not random and designed like a casino to make you pay to keep playing. Again all is fine as long as it’s clear it’s not possible to win without payment. This app could be so much better and keep less obsessive playing and become obsessed, but this business model is overkill and not lawful.

This game will put me on blood pressure meds….. I have never written a game review in my life, but I honestly couldn’t help myself…. I thought that 8 Ball Pool’s little banners that pop up in the middle of a game were bad…. I pray for those during this game… I have never been so frustrated to attempt to play a game before… The ads are annoying (like in every other game), but I understand that’s where the money comes from. The thing that kills me is the full screen take over every time you level up or get a reward…. IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME…. Also, the consistent prompting to play more than one game at a time…. IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME…. I appreciate the confidence it takes to think I can multitask like that, but I’m doing my absolute best to not lose my sanity in the single one I have going now… Please just let me play… Pretty please?? Then you can shower me with chests and jewels and puppies and Sarah McLachlan commercials and anything else you would like. I love Scrabble. I really do, but I might boomerang my iPad out the window soon. I hope you can sense the sarcasm in my review, but y’all would be my heroes if you could tweak all that a bit.

Scrabble Vegas. The actual gameplay is fairly decent, but outside of that, the app has some negatives. It’s too busy, with lots of flashing and scrolling graphics, stars, banners, ‘prize chests’ for achieving seemingly arbitrary milestones, various weird arcade modes, and so forth. It feels like being on the slot floor at a Vegas casino. I don’t love that players can basically cheat, by spending their winnings to get word suggestions... nor that additional cheats can be ‘earned’ by simply watching a commercial. It’s all a bit psychotic and over-the-top. It has a notification system, that seems to be misfiring at random. I currently have eight notifications, because it’s my turn in one game and I have one unread ‘mail’ (not actual mail, just an unclaimed prize chest). If I action those two things, I might still have eight notifications... or one... or it might increase to twelve. That’s clearly a bug. I’ve had several enjoyable games, and I don’t completely object to watching ads every now and then between turns. Other than that, it feels like visual overload. I’m just grateful there’s no sound.

I dislike a lot of it. The app is annoying, it is cluttered and too busy. Who designed the layout? Fire them or tell them try again.. Fun, exciting and fresh/current can be overdone.. There is a row of profiles that pops up after every turn i make asking me to start another game (not exact words) i would like this to be disabled.. This is unnecessary here. You can select to start more games on another area why is it bothering me WHILE PLAYING? There should be no pop up anything during games. After or before ok but not during. I see that there is too much stuff trying to be smushed in to a small place.. the game needs pruning simplified.. I appreciate classic mode but again with the profile bar popping up all the time asking me to start more games is annoying.. What i do like though is the tile customization, and the gaining exp of sorts and other things in order to unlock them. As for now though i guess i am just going to play against the pc and pass n play with friends on the old app.. it plays better and isn’t cluttered to heck.. maybe i will revisit in the future..

Continual problems on iPhone 7. Every once in a while, the app gets to the point where it’s doing so much processing of some kind that my phone gets hot and it will drain my entire battery in about 1 hour of use. At those times, it’s also crashing and I will have to restart it numerous times. During those periods, it’s also stalling to the point where I try to move a tile and it gets stuck in mid air for 15 seconds, then if I’m lucky it unfreezes, but lots of times it will freeze for closer to 30 seconds before exiting. In these periods of my worst problems, I have restarted my iPhone, completely deleted the app, reinstalled the app, and sometimes it will give me some relief from the problems for a few more days or a week, then get back into the same pattern again. The game interface itself is just fine and I love Scrabble, so I always try to push through these problems, but I think the app has some major bugs that need to be fixed. Perhaps it is just not tested anymore on the older iPhones, and has evolved beyond being stable on old versions. I don’t know, but it’s really frustrating!

Obnoxious ads and UX. While I love the game itself and how it’s configured on the app, there are some incredibly annoying aspects too. For one thing, you are constantly interrupted by obnoxious ads that shut down whatever music, podcast or audio book you might be listening to. Once you tediously click past the ads, you need to exit the app to restart whatever you were listening to. Secondly, there are unnecessarily long animations displaying your “earnings” from playing each round. These displays sometimes force you into clicking through a series of several buttons/screens to get you to start some other random game in the app— all while you are just trying to get back to your existing game. But good luck trying to figure out how to return to your game. The interface of the app is chaotic and unintuitive. There are so many things going on visually and functionally in the app on it’s maddening. Please improve the UX! Also, I get that apps need to run ads and/or charge for certain features to make it worth it, but isn’t there some other way to do this? I would pay to not see ads.

Scrabble Meets Las Vegas, and We All Lose. I have played Scrabble most of my life and love the simplicity of the game. Enjoyed the Scrabble app immensely. Then they sold the rights to EA, and the result is Scrabble Go. Scrabble has become an abomination. The UI is not only confusing (and I do UI in my work), it is a poorly-thought-out cacophony of badges, unnecessary animations, bizarre “challenges”, and a manic energy that is anything but enjoyable. I get it: people like fun things on their phone that will spice up their lives. But this is akin to taking Chess and making all of the pieces 12 different colors. It makes no sense. If you want to play the equivalent of Caffeine Town, play Scrabble Go. If you want to play Scrabble, find a yard sale somewhere and buy the original board game, because the attention-deficit idiots at EA won’t listen to a request to leave the original Scrabble app the hell alone. UPDATE: I got the developer names switched. When I curse out EA, I mean to curse out Scopely. I stand by everything else I said. And the token responses from the developer bot are annoyingly repetitious: Thank you for your input, but we’re really trying hard to improve your User Experience... blah blah blah. Pretty sure your “test audience” was either paid, plastered, or pre-pubescent. Please bring back Classic Scrabble.

Keeps getting worse. Wish zero stars was an option. In the 3 years I’ve had this game, it’s only gotten worse. First, the ads are an absolute atrocity. Not only are there FAR too many, they’re incredibly long-more than a minute in a lot of cases, and you’re forced to watch one after EVERY turn. It’s ludicrous. Second, why no more free tickets when opening chests? I get it-you want to make money. But eliminating occasional tickets is an incredibly terrible thing to do to users you supposedly care about. Third, the technical aspects are a joke. You’d think bugs and other issues would be improved upon, but somehow they get worse. A prime example is the Tumbler game which routinely glitches and gives microscopic letters you can’t even see let alone play with. It’s been like that for 2 years, and I’ve written customer service a few times about it. But like everything else, they reply with a cut-and-paste response that says “sorry you’re experiencing that. Rest assured our team is taking this issue very seriously…blah blah blah,” then NOTHING CHANGES! Just admit you can’t figure it out and there is no fix instead of lying to people! You can see said disingenuous response to complaints on this review board! Last, legit words that don’t count, and totally bogus ones do. Somehow “nth,” “pht,” and “cwm” are acceptable, but some real words aren’t! Sad because this game used to be so much fun 🤬

Terrible all around. There is really nothing to like about this app. The ridiculous bells and whistles that distract and detract have been written about by nearly every reviewer. In addition, I object to the tiny board with tiles so small I can’t read their scores and an automatic scoring aid that I also need to get out reading glasses to decipher. Luckily I’ve been playing all my life so I can add the scores in my head but other Scrabble apps had no issue here. More annoying is the tile bag. The EA game (which was reliably unreliable but so much better than this mess of an app) had a running count of how many letters left in the game. The “tile bag” option here tells you this as well as what letters are left! I find that an extremely obnoxious cheat. I’m also tired of getting notices on my phone that “Kelly” or whomever is waiting for me to play. I do not appreciate my name and photo getting shared with random strangers. I get more notices about stuff like this than I do the actual notices of my real friends/opponents taking their turns. This app really stinks and I beg Scopely to provide a Classic Scrabble version that cuts the cartoon crap, removes the social networking prompts, removes cheat prompts (swap tiles for free?!?), and restores the board and tile bag counter to normal. Listen to the people! Nobody but your bot reviewers like this app!

Awful for all of these reasons…. 1) My experience with the game so far indicates that most to all of the players I’ve played against are actually bots. It has made for very poor play. 2) About 40% of the time I use this app it not only freezes, it freezes my entire device locking my screen and preventing me from doing anything for several seconds, including closing the app or turning my device off. 2) There are so many distractions getting in the way of actually playing a game on this app it has become incredibly annoying to use. As much as I enjoy Scrabble I can barely stand playing the game on account of how irritating it is to use this app. 3) EVERY TIME I wish to play (increasingly little) I am prompted to log in through Facebook. The app designers so clearly prefer that option to “anonymous” play they first make the “anonymous” selection more challenging to see (approximately 50% of the size of the Facebook option above it, and made so faint as to be practically invisible) AND even include a cartoon character which frowns upon one having made the choice to play anonymously. Let me make a selection and change my decision later should I ever choose to do so. Each time I open the app is yet one more unpleasant experience. It’s enough already. My second day with this app might already be my last.

Junk!. Perhaps this game appeals to a different demographic, but not me. At one time I actually chose my phone based on whether I could play the official classic Scrabble game. I do not want to play a word game that doesn’t use the official classic Scrabble board so I am trying to adapt to to this unnecessarily flashy game. Not sure if I speak for other classic players, but I miss the teacher and playing against multiple computer opponents. Per co-CEO Ferreira in an interview with GamesBeat, “There will be features that allow you to have a richer and deeper single-player experience” over the next 3-9 months. Sooner would be better as it seems many classic players aren’t sticking around to find out what the future will bring. Single-player experience is what I used in the classic EA/Hasbro game. I have never wanted to play live so now I am left with poor Zoey. It does seem that Zoey “learns” because her scores have improved after several rounds; she’s doing much better than her posted average score of 16. Also, at one time long ago there was an option for “duplicate” play. With this option, both the computer and me had the same letters. Whoever’s word scored the most points was played and that player scored. Perhaps that option could be added for those of us that don’t enjoy the whole media gaming scene.

I’m just here for the Scrabble, man…. I’m passionate about Scrabble, and as this is the only real app available, I play it a lot. That being said, the app has a LOT of issues. The app itself is glitchy as all get out. The coding is messy and features don’t always work as they should. Rewards cannot often be collected. Tournaments take your diamonds, but never load. Ads (of which there are MANY) often don’t load correctly, freeze, or crash the app all together. It’s kinda a mess. But the big thing I want to mention is the fact that the chat feature has been infiltrated by so-called “romance scammers”. They ALL have the same MO. 40-60 year old handsome men (or ladies, imagine, depending on who you are), that play the game terribly, start a friendly chat, and eventually start asking for more and more personal information. Initially, I would mess with them, but now it’s gotten old as about half of any games I start wind up being with scam players. It’s obnoxious, and frankly unsettling. The developers can’t not know it’s happening. Please warn elderly friends and family that use the app of the potential risks. Stay safe out there Scrabblers!

Too many scammers. I like the game and the arena. Climbing the ladder through different divisions. The tumblers are probably my favorite. My biggest problem is this game is FULL of scammers. People using fake pictures, wanting to chat and giving some fake sob story then wanting you to go to hangouts or other apps so they can ask/beg for money. I complained MANY times and none were removed. There were using pictures like Joe Cross who is commonly used by scammers, and using a different name. I proved it over and over and the players were allowed to continue. Absolutely no protection whatsoever. There say they can’t tell you the result of the investigation but if I continue to see the player active, I know nothing was done. I’ve come and gone on this game many times because there are things I like about it. But within a day a scammer will hit and it aggravates me that I can’t play and enjoy. I can block and other things but if I report they should be removed to prevent them from scamming others. I leave quickly every time because of that. Maybe one day there will be enough protection for legitimate players to play and enjoy the game. Until then, beware of anyone chatting with you. Especially if they want to leave this game to chat. It’s a scammer. They tried to get 10k from me.

Horrible.....but. I am right there with all the critics. I love the EA Scrabble App that is dying on June 1st. BUT, when I put on my business hat, I think I know what happened. Think about the nominal one-time fee we paid for the EA Scrabble App and played for years as the programmers made improvements, fixed glitches and grappled with IOS update changes to our devices. So, rather than charge us for continuation of the GOOD app, which they knew would have been met with uproarious outrage, they decided to kill it. Emerging in its place was the Scrabble GO monstrosity which, in order to charge money making monthly fees and mechanism to spend more for diamonds along the way, necessarily had to justify itself with all the glitz, glamour and silliness to appeal to a larger audience including children. Folks, it was a money making economic decision. Sorry, simple profit motive and greed at work here. Meanwhile, a true classic game suffers. How many of us would be willing to pay $4.95 a month to restore the EA game? I bet a lot, given the alternative. In fact, don’t be surprised if a new version of Classic Scrabble as we know, love and want it, emerges in the coming months with a monthly fee attached. This is all speculation on my part, but plausible,

Why even call it Scrabble. What an abomination.. 15 minutes. That’s all it took. 15 minutes before I realized some underage gamer had destroyed what was one of the best games ever invented - so I deleted it. I’m not a prude. I’m not technically challenged. I see younger generations struggling every day with attention span issues. I get it. But not everybody needs bells and whistles and jewels and God knows what else is imbedded in the Scrabble Go app to be entertained. If it’s about money then charge me more for the app, but to destroy a simple quality intellectual game like Scrabble and turn it into a moronic video game is asinine. You clearly could have included an option for people to choose the classic version - which, if it is available, I was unable, well unwilling, to wade through the nonsense to find it. That would have met everybody’s needs. We’re getting far enough along in the technology craze that not every computer geek or technology buff or game player is a 15 year old kid with the attention span of a goldfish. And the need to pander to said demographic while ignoring others may be at the detriment of your company. Consider there are actually older people -with money - who enjoy technology, that you may want to address in your product development and marketing efforts. If you’re designing a new game - no problem. But to destroy such a classic for no apparent reason is just ridiculous. I’m only giving one star because I have to in order to send my review.

Please update word options. I enjoy scrabble… that said…. There are way to many ads in the free version… over the top too many. Considering stopping it altogether! Paying for it is not an option. Where is the option to add words corrections ??? Erode is a word. Yi is a word. Sire is a word. None are accepted. I had a word it was a shuttered I SHUTTERED and I put you in at the beginning of it and it wouldn’t except it and it was on a triple option and it didn’t except it, and I think that there should be a link so that we can make suggestions for words that are actually in the dictionary that should be added to your word list. Please update and add an app so that we can put words in like yeah I W I’m sorry it’s Y.I is a word that’s why I N unshattered is a word and sire finally went in SIRE but it’s not fun. When you know that the word is an excellent word and then you wait to add to it and then you find out you can’t.

Pretty bummed. Hi scopely I’m glad I still have access to the old scrabble. Tbh this is just all around weird to market scrabble like this. If you want to attract real scrabble players then please have a version that is the same as the ea one. Namely, the ability to look up a word if it’s not your turn or in play, and the teacher should always be free, not free for a little while. Honestly that was such a turn off. The needless animation is also kind of terrible and I find myself quitting the application just so I don’t have to click through a series of annoying clicks to buy a subscription for $5 a month I’m never gonna get. I really think you will get a lot of people paying a one time fee over doing that it’s kind of ridiculous and I doubt in the long run you will keep it. The one thing I do like about this version is it seems that it’s easier to play with people who are actually pretty good as opposed to the ea version where it was harder to play against random opponents in a way that was user friendly. considering scrabble is a game probably played by a lot of people who are over the age of 15 the whole like Disney feel animation thing is just kind of weird.

Ruined a great game. The EA Scrabble was a near-perfect simulation of real-life Scrabble, but I guess that’s not what runs the mobile economy. This version of Scrabble, even after being toned down because of complaints, is nearly unplayable. Its design is busy and full of flashing things and motion and cartoon characters—basically nothing you want when you’re trying to concentrate on a game of scrabble. It makes you wait through insipid ads after every turn. Then, inexplicably, it also makes you wait while the computer decides what to play. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for this delay except to annoy you. The game also tries to funnel you into Facebook-based play. It makes it unnecessarily hard for you to return to a game you’ve paused. And don’t get me started on the jewel-based economy that they really want you to join (which I have no interest in trying). A couple of times, the ads have gone haywire and shut down my iPad. On the bright side, that meant I no longer had to play the game. I was happy to pay money to play the EA Scrabble. Unfortunately, this version is just an ad delivery system. Reviews suggest there are better scrabble-like games out there, so I guess I’ll try them.

Won’t Load. If it wasn’t for my main gripe this game would totally get 5 stars, saying that I first must say I LOVE playing for the variety of puzzles, fast pace, challenges and multiple active games I may have going at once. Downside, I’ve had for barely two weeks and this is the 3rd time I’ve had to delete and download as hours pass without it able to open/load. I am aware that this could totally be a connection error but I do receive my service through a very known service provider in the US so am doubtful that that is the issue. This wouldn't be that frustrating but I am in my 3rd day of the free trail (I initially downloaded 1/31) period because I got totally hooked. I would like to be a subscriber because it is such fun aside from being tired of seeing ads which took away from my play time and the added rewards/challenges but am hoping once my monthly fee, dun dun dun, is collected maybe the glitch will be gone and if not, sigh, that will be disappointing. Play on 🙃

Why are the ads so hard to close?? Bloatware with atrocious performance!. First of all, the app is called scrabble but it is a package of multiple games that i am never going to play. The app performs extremely poorly. Sometimes it takes several seconds to a touch to register. The app is designed to be a time waster so players end up having to spend more time in the app, which means more money for the developer. Level ups which are of no interest to scrabble players frequently pop up and takes about 30 seconds. End of every game is like a show and tell for about 30 seconds that cannot be bypassed. I understand that ads are necessary but the ads on this app are excruciatingly painful.. sometimes you have to Hit X multiple times to close the ad. The X are sometimes too small or placed close to the Get button so it results in accidentally go to the appstore to buy the app being advertised. Some ads are impossible to close out of and requires restarting the app. I am a scrabble enthusiast who would gladly pay a subscription if you design a lean and mean app which offers a good player experience.. but this app is the exact opposite of it.

The classic gets updated for today. As somebody who stopped playing Scrabble for lack of real-life opponents who didn’t spend half their time being toxic, this is a bonanza. Sure the UI on the main menu isn’t the best, but the app does a good job making the experience worthwhile, even suggesting opponents who play at your pace. Duels are especially nice because you can squeeze in a quick match in just a few minutes without having to worry about playing a full game. Earning new tile sets to customize your rack with is pretty cool too...I’ve already seen some that scream to me, “I want to earn that!” My only real suggestion for the developers is that I would like to see some puzzles in the sense that you are given a game in progress with words already on the board and a rack to play with, and you need to find the best possible play on the board that you can. I just feel that this would help people become better players by giving them a chance to practice board awareness. Other than that, I love this. It’s worth the $5 a month for Club membership.

The notifications... This is a great app to play when you’re trying to pass the time. However, with that being said- it does NOT mean I want to be reminded every 10 minutes that the app is on my phone. The fact that there are no notifications settings on an app like this is mind boggling. Also the amount of pop ups within the app for “challenges” is more than annoying. I just enjoy playing scrabble, if I want to do a challenge, I will. I don’t need it to interrupt whatever I’m doing on the app or have it pop up and disrupt what I’m trying to do every time I open the app or go to the main screen. Lastly, after every turn I play on a game I’m in, the “more games” section pops up and is completely unnecessary. Again, if I wanted to switch games I can easily do that myself. I don’t need the app popping up in my face telling me to. Please make the app more customizable- the amount pop ups within the app (not ads, but game features) absolutely wrecks my phone battery and is frustrating. In fact it’s the main reason I keep uninstalling this app.

Creeps use this platform to solicit people. Game play is great. The chat feature is nice too- it’s fun to chat with your opponent HOWEVER, there are many, many, many people who use this platform to get information from people, for ill purposes no doubt. Their questions and information are ALL very similar and they ultimately all ask for personal information to be able to “talk” somewhere else. Their profile pictures are always of good looking middle aged white guys (stock google pics), they claim to be from the states but speak in broken-ish English- they say hi after the first move and want to know where you live, if you’re married, how many kids you have, your hobbies, and your email address. They ask all that within the first five seconds it seems. My poor elderly aunt was duped by one of them and she ended up giving him a lot of information. It was a mess to get him to stop harassing her. I don’t know if it’s possible to make the chat safer, or what, but i hope the developers take the reported users seriously and make it harder for them to con people. I block and report those users but before I do, I string them along with bogus answers and made- up email addresses which confuses and annoys them. Mission accomplished.

Bring back option for classic scrabble!. There are many silly options for potential gamers to pursue bonus points and buy their way to victory with hints and switches and tips. Why take over a classic beloved game that has been around long enough that there are game championships and followings and even a designated dictionary made for it? Shame on hasbro and scopely for destroying the ability of anyone who cares about the game to have the option to play it the way it was meant to be played. I’ve been playing scrabble my whole life and online for over 10 years. All thrown out in pursuit of squeezing out more money by forcing users to endure the ridiculous graphics and constant distractions that have nothing to do with the actual game. No true scrabble fan will pay for the gimmicks, especially since words with friends already offers them for free. And are you really going to erase all history of scrabble players? Talk about a great way to gain the loyalty and interest from an existing base of users. What I would pay for is to buy an app that provides the classic scrabble board, rules, and dictionary options. I am sure many scrabble-lovers would too. More than will have any patience with this new joke version.

Awful interface and major disappointment to scrabble fans. As others have said, the interface looks like a cheap touchscreen casino game. So many bright clashing colors that is so busy it gives me a headache to even look at the dashboard screen. A ton of in-app purchases for mindless jewels, chests, tickets and things that are so annoying. In-app purchases allow you to do things like free tile swaps without passing a turn, and seeing potential space play on the board, basically making it soo easy to get bingos and rewarding players that pay for the bonuses and taking away from traditional gameplay and competition. Ironically they have ranked leaderboards, but they’re meaningless if you can over compensate for your lack of skill by paying your way. Would rather pay money for an authentic classic Scrabble game with maybe some of the added features here like leaderboards or side/related games if they’re actually fun or interesting, while keeping the competitive gameplay competitive without rewarding those who purchase jewels, chests, tickets or anything else no one ever had to think about to play a fun game of scrabble.

Annoying bugs and pushy design. This is mostly great. I like the dictionary integration and that you can play the computer on several levels. There are two pretty annoying things though: 1. There are some bugs with how it shows your score history. If you start to scroll through it, all the sudden the scores will change. The labeled winner for part matches will sometimes be the player with the lower score. It’s just weird. As a side note, I just played a game against the app where it declared the computer the winner after playing the last tile, but it still has two tiles left! You can go back and look at the board, so I was able to take a screenshot where it labels the computer the winner, but we both have tiles left. Weird. 2. The all is pretty pushy about starting new games and challenging random people. It will push my active game with my friend to the end of the list and put challenges from strangers and past games I played against the computer at the top, both of which are useful. I don’t mind watching ads for a free version, but this extra pushiness to play random people is pretty intrusive. It won’t let you dismiss those either, so you have to scroll past them over and over again.

Ridiculous.. I usually don’t write reviews if an app is bad, but this one has undoubtedly made me so furious for the following reason: The entire app isn’t dedicated to the actual game. It’s literally a bunch of pop ups and prizes and rewards and treasure chests that, probably, no one wants to see. You can’t get through a game, and in the beginning, I couldn’t even start one without getting hopelessly disoriented in all the poorly displayed match types and other frivolous things in the home screen. And the graphics? Slow and frustrating, especially when you get these useless gems and then the treasure chest opens, while it’s your turn, so you’re just staring at the screen watching these ridiculous animations with no way of skipping them, and just when you think they’re done, they’re not! Then it starts suggesting different wood finishes for your tiles, so at this rate you’ll never get back to your game! Honestly opening this app feels like a chore. You want to play the game but it just feels like you can’t. The app coders/developers, the poor things, someone please free them because they’ve definitely been held against their will by management that hasn’t understood what the consumers want. If I could give less than one star, I most certainly would.

Horrible. I would rate the new Scrabble Go app zero stars, or even negative stars if available. EA/Hasbro had perfected the Scrabble app in recent years, and I’m sad to see it go on 6/1/20. I’m hopeful that in some way it will be resurrected in its perfect present form, which is clearly what all Scrabble app players want after reading many reviews. The new Scrabble Go is a complete failure. It has been dumbed down for kids, contains useless noises and other distractions, is difficult to use, and is visibly too small. Scrabble aficionados have no interest in this garbage. I have seen Scopely’s response to many critical reviews stating ‘this is a work in progress’. Well, Scopely, from reading the real reviews (not the multitude of fake positive reviews herein), you should glean that the Scrabble app in its present form is what we want: a game free from useless distractions, noises, and gifts; one with a built-in dictionary; one with a scoring mechanism so we can compete with players at our skill level; one that looks like the actual physical Scrabble board (same colors and tiles); and one that is easy to use. Scopely has taken away a gem, and I would rather stare at a blank wall than play the new Scrabble Go app. And I suspect that current Scrabble app players would be willing to pay for access to the app in its present form - I know I would. PLEASE OFFER THE CURRENT SCRABBLE GAME IN ITS PRESENT FORM FOR A REASONABLE FEE.

Nope. Just no. The previous version was a nice way to relax before bed. I just want a simple game. This does the opposite. This version is not simply Scrabble. It has 20 different ways to play and more games and options pop up while I’m playing. There are challenges and “prizes” to be won. I paid for the old version to get rid of ads and popups. This version has so many distracting popups - it constantly tells me I earned some points, leveled up, might want to use a cheat that I might was to pay for. The game stops to show me things I don’t care about. No. I want nice, quiet, scrabble. I loved the option where I could play the computer against multiple computer opponents. Playing against “Zoey” is not the same, or even enjoyable. Zoey tries to teach me how to play. This version works hard to get me to play against other humans, but I really like to pick up a game and play a few turns, then go away for the rest of the day. That’s no good when playing another person. Honestly though, the worst, after each move, there is a popup screen trying to get me to start a game with yet another person. This game is annoying. I have plenty of bright, loud, complex games. The beauty of Scrabble is that it’s a quiet and thoughtful game.

Terrible replacement for the classic game!!. If you enjoyed the simplicity and ease of use of the old EA Scrabble game, you will HATE this app. There are way too many extra features that do nothing to enhance gameplay, but instead are attempts to get players to sink unnecessary money into the game. The teacher mode that so many of us used in the old version is only free once or twice, then you have to spend gems to use it. The two word reference sheet in the dictionary is gone (and if it isn’t gone, I sure haven’t been able to find it). The classic board (as the developers will tell you) technically exists, but it’s not immediately obvious WHERE it is. If you’re going to try to sell fans of the old version on this new version by claiming that the board we all love is there, it shouldn’t be so hard to find. Also, even if you activate the “Hide From Searches” feature in the privacy settings, random players can still start games with you, so I have no idea what the point of this privacy feature is. For people who like this style of game - lots of side challenges to earn aesthetic features, random challenges, daily chests, lots of extras - this is a good game. But for fans of the classic version who are being pushed into this version because the old one is going away? You’ll hate this version.

Just like classic Scrabble..... Except you can earn rewards. Which we can all agree was the biggest thing missing from the old board game. And you can “level up”. Which is something I was writing to Hasbro about for years. “Hasbro, why does this exceptionally simple and perfectly executed board game not allow me to level up and earn rewards?” I guess they finally heard me. Oh, also, if you are looking for one of the games you might be playing, it’s actually not easy to find. It’s like a frustrating little adventure where each time you want to play, you have to brush aside all the different things the app is trying to get you to do other than just playing your existing games with your family and friends. Neat! I am so thrilled to be able to see how people on my Facebook friends list are achieving their various high score dreams. I remember before this if I wanted to know what an acquaintances highest score in Scrabble was, I had to write a letter and wait for them to pen their reply. Now, I can find that even more easily than I can find the games I’m actually playing! In all seriousness, this version of the game does one thing really really well: it highlights just how out of touch this developer is with the actual players of this game. I’m desperately seeking something to replace Scrabble. This isn’t it.

Destroyed my favorite game app. Once upon a time I paid $10 for an ad free peaceful enjoyable scrabble app. I played it regularly every day and enjoyed it. Then one day I updated it which was labeled as “the last update for this app”. So I updated thinking “why?”. After the “final update” I go to play my usual enjoyable game and it is no longer playable. Instead it tells me I now have to download scrabble go app to play. Ok, I’ll give it a try I guess.... unfortunately, after a few attempts to play my favorite game on this new version, I have lost all enjoyment of this game. ALL. This new version is annoyingly slow to start up, slower during gameplay, clunky with unnecessary suggestions that are constantly harassing me, overly animated and childlike, and loaded with frequent ads.....even though once upon a time I paid $10 for no ads!! Did I mention that the new app constantly kicks me out and crashes which the original app NEVER did? Soooo, I’m done with this imposter version of a once perfect game! I WANT MY $10 BACK TOO! Better yet, give me back the old version exactly the way it was before I did the “final update” and I will be much happier!!!!!!!!

Problems During Prize Giving. I picked this app up because on FB, there was a lull with making the updates. I noticed with this app on my tablet, there isn’t a problem when rejecting the prize to go to the next game and to avoid the ads. But when you decide to accept the prize, all of a sudden there is a pop up declaring that something is wrong with the system. Ok, but what is the alternative? Will I get a chance later? Is there a cancellation prize for the inconvenience? Nope. You have to forfeit the prize. Isn’t it funny, nothing is wrong with the system when the same ads come on over and over and over again between games? To the creators, if you are interested in making the game less annoying: when playing the mini word games within (like the trophy game and bayou), the player should have a choice whether to use all of his/her tickets or not. The player shouldn’t be forced to spend his/her coins if there is a ticket left. Did you really design the game to see if you could control one’s spending? I did notice that when I used my tickets and had 101 coins to start off, at the end of playing 4 games and spending 5 coins per continuance, I saw I had 72 coins left. How? That would mean 29 coins were spent. That not even divisible of 5. That would mean I played 5 games and your game stole an extra 4 coins. Wow!

Sketchy Policies. It’s a fun game with good graphics and in game incentives, and it definitely sharpened my scrabble skill by playing it for a few days, but the privacy policy of the company is rather sketchy. Of course, it’s for the more social applications of this app and you “don’t have to” but there are in-game rewards locked off by requesting you give them your entire contact library or make a facebook account in order to access them. The information usage by the company is vague and threatening, and I don’t want these people to have my address. Though I feel I should point out there’s not as many creeps and scammers as other reviews say, to give them credit. I assume all these info-sucking policies would scare off anyone looking to cause trouble, but I also feel that this invasion of privacy in the name of security is highly upsetting. It’s a decent app and worth your time if you’re willing to sell your soul and personal information for a few in game credits. Please think critically before agreeing to anything this app offers you, and if you’re paranoid like me absolutely do not get it. Too many times have companies overstepped privacy boundaries in greed. I don’t trust stuff like this.

Horrible junk ads, disrespectful, $100 for no ads!. Since this company took over the rights to Scrabble it has gone from bad to horrible. The basic game is fine (and that's what we want). There are way too many extra games, chests, and other treasures that are not needed - but I can look past those. What is most annoying are the ads and the way they are served. There are WAY TOO many, most are junk scams (play Bingo and win thousands). Also the ads don't respect mute - mute the game but the ads play sounds. Also a number of ads have no way to get you back to the game so you have to kill the game and start again. And some ads that do offer an "X" to close and go back...hide the "x" so you do't see it. Very sleezy. Lastly - I don't want notifications on and every week or so it gives a pop-up asking if I want notifications turned on. That's disrespectful and this game is an insult to a real scrabble player. Finally - there is an option to pay for no ads but the cost is ridiculous! It works out to about $100 / year. I'd gladly pay a reasonable amount for a traditional scrabble game with no ads and one that better respects me - but this is horrid.

Great Game but. Love the game. Only thing I hate is not being able to get back to the games in time for them to say you’ve abandoned the game.... should be given more time. Then once you have all these dead games lined up you need to scroll past them all to find the games that are still there. I know you can play those dead games again but some times it takes too long and you just wish you could delete those and keep playing the live ones. It’s just frustrating you can’t delete them. Otherwise great game. Especially love playing the duels. 👍

Scrabble NO GO. Sadly, I am not enjoying this new format at all. I fail to understand why it had to change. I just want to play Scrabble! I don’t want all the confusing colourful little blocks of options, games, prizes and other things. They are just hugely annoying and frustrating. I want to play with my friends, and not be limited to just 2 players. I want a decent sized Scrabble board on my screen. I want to see clearly who I am playing with, and don’t wish to have a never ending stream of “offers” to play with random people. I am not alone in my criticism, and don’t personally know anyone who likes it. I play Scrabble to relax. This thing is not relaxing to play. It is infuriatingly annoying! Pleas change it back to proper REAL Scrabble!

Good but battery drain and too much going on. It’s scrabble. If you’re into scrabble it is fine to play. However it constantly nags about linking to Facebook and I mean constantly. There are lots of mini games and power ups so if you like that sort of thing then go for it. Not fussed about them myself. Plenty of bot players to pass the time with and fun to play against real people. The biggest gripe is the battery consumption. It is terrible. Not sure if that is common for others but there is a reddit thread so it must be reasonably common.

Appalling. This is appalling. I just want to play Scrabble with the classic board and no extras. The screen is full of stupid meaningless ‘rewards’, other games and really annoying graphics. It’s cluttered and confusing. Bring back the original. I have discovered I need to mute all games with blokes because there are so many creeps just there to latch on. Bring back the auto mute and give the option of unmuting. The word suggestions are dumb. They don’t come up with the best one and the best word option is intermittent. Don’t need the cheat one and would like to check what the best play is each time after I have played, not before. I want the original proper Scrabble rules to apply, not be provided with cheat words. Hey and the practice game with dumb Zoey is awful. She’s so dumb. I suspect some other opponents are also computer players, not real people. Dreadful, dreadful in so many ways.

I just want to play scrabble with MY friends!. I played on the old scrabble app. with a few friends and loved it! Now I have to put up with an app that is trying to get me to play with other randoms all the time, rewards as if I wish to gamble, and a computer opponent with one level of difficulty (easy). And then I get notifications that “your new game with Hope C. (or some one else) about to expire” when I have never started a game with Hope and don’t wish to. I don’t want to play all the other game versions just Scrabble! I don’t want rewards, just my points, and i don't want to play other randoms. Build a method of turning all these annoying things off so boring people like me can just play scrabble, PLEASE.

Great potential but a few probs. I enjoyed this game for a few months, ignoring bells and whistles which are completely unnecessary, until one day adds started popping up when I wanted to do a free swamp. I decided to try the app, add free for a week and purchase it at $7.99 a month if I liked the format. Problem was the adds continued and when I reported this I had a variety of people suggesting different things that were not solving the problem. When they sort out the glitches I would be happy to pay for the app.

Frozen. I did give this game a 4 star rating only after a few games because it got me in. I love playing this game, you may say addictive. Now for what ever reason the game has frozen on me, will not open. I have tried so many ways to try and fix the problem but to no success. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, gone through settings, you name it. I still continue to get notifications that players are waiting on my turn. I would happily give 5 star rating if I didn’t have this problem because it’s a great game to play. How can the problem be fixed please?

Hideous user experience. This is the first time I've ever been motivated to write an app review. So many pointless junk "prizes", attempts to force you to play other players (many of which are bots, but they don't tell you that), and horrendously intrusive ads (with an exorbitant price to pay if you want to get rid of them). The classic format is marginally better, but you can't play games with more than 2 people in classic mode. The messaging system is also terrible - autocorrect doesn't work, sometimes it stops accepting letters for no reason, forcing you to start a new message, and sometimes the message simply disappears without these recipient seeing it. There are better scrabble-based apps available. Avoid the official one if you can.

Absolutely awful!. I wouldn’t play this version if there was an alternative way of playing Scrabble with distant friends. Although it says you can play the classic game, it still gives you a whole lot of unnecessary ‘features’ which slow the games up. I paid for an ad-free version originally, but that’s disappeared and I’m bombarded with ads at every turn, some of which partly obscure the game screen so you can’t read the scores. The in-game ads just slow things up because you have to close the app to get out of the ad screen. The game itself is slow and glitchy and The developer doesn’t respond to queries or complaints. And the icing on the cake is the the spelling mistake on the Scopely front page, which drives me crazy!

Worse advertising than Words (aka Words With Friends). I though Words Classic and Words 2 (now pretty much the same game app) was really bad. I wouldn’t have imagined that a game licensed to use the original board game Scrabble like be worse (or any game could be worse with advertising). But Scrabble or ‘Scrabble Go’ is quite a lot worse with advertising. Not only that, they try push their copy of Words called Scrabble Go on users getting on board looking for something closer to classic Scrabble. To make matters worse, the opponents it matched me with in the more classic Scrabble mode only played a a bunch of round and then gave up. And I make a point of not cheating or using power-ups. So I tried playing the classic version against the computer, starting on ‘Hard’ mode. There are two harder levels above this. Whilst for some of the game(s) it played like a relatively advanced player, when I won more than two games in a row, it would start coming up with reductions 7 letter word jackpots using words for rare medications that only specialist scientists and doctors might know. The programmers of its algorithms not smart enough to come up with more realistic strategies, so using it’s obvious limitless dictionary access to win. So I give this ridiculous attempt at a come back of the board game combined (stupidly) as a competitor with Words two thumbs down. Obviously a tragic top-down management structure with zero respect or love for the game.

Someone's HEAD needs to ROLL. In this world of apps, it's difficult to stand out. Usually, you do so in one of two ways - make an outstandingly good App or make a shockingly bad one. This is a prime example of the latter. Know your audience, do your homework and don't be afraid to keep the current players happy. I bought the original Scrabble game brought to life by EA. It was exactly what I wanted, continue to want. But now, that version is throwing up ridiculous words and is essentially unplayable (with the computer as opponent). A sneaky agreement to make folks shift to the new platform? Well, it has not worked. Scopely, your designers need to be sacked. And their managers. And whomever else approved this completely useless incarnation of a classic.

Don’t Expect “Scrabble”. This app is not simple and easy. There are too many other things here, especially pop-ups. I subscribed and all that did was remove ads but you still get pop ups for gemstone boxes that you have to use to play other versions. If you do play those other versions, you have to use gems and they cost more money above the subscription to remove ads. Unless you have a lot of time and money or just play the standard version and don’t let the in-game pop-ups annoy you, it’s not worth it. I would easily have paid $20 just for the simple scrabble but will not pay $1 for this atrocity.

They killed the straight forward scrabble app. This new Scrabble Go app is killing the standard Scrabble app in June. This new app is full of clutter and gems and dozens of confusing menu options that no older Scrabble fan will care about or understand. Some of us paid for the no ad version of the standard scrabble app but now this new app is taking that away. I’ve played thousands of matches and can tell you from their Facebook profile pictures that it’s at least 75% older ladies that play online. This was a very disrespectful thing to do to those of them who relied on the old Scrabble app to play, forcing them to use this garbage instead. It’s these older fans that have kept Scrabble popular throughout the years and this new app is a big middle finger to all of them. If these new scrabble rights holders don’t make sure the old app is maintained indefinitely then they are big time jerks. In a six month quarantine of all times they will this on people. Divert the ad revenue to the new rights holders, I don’t care, do whatever it takes to keep a basic and straight forward scrabble experience on iOS alive.

Great app. I absolutely love playing this game and have been playing for quite some time now. I love everything about it but.....recently when I play duels I connect and wait for an apponent then if they disconnect I loose my turn, meaning I usually have to wait 3 hours or so for my turn to come around or I have to use a heaps of gems to get a turn? I have attempted to find help through the app but have been unsuccessful. Could someone please help me fix this problem so I can keep enjoying this game? Thanks!

Game is great but ads are ridiculous. The games and variations of Scrabble on this app are great. There’s a challenge for every level of player. However, the weekly cost is excessive, so for some of us - that means watching the ads. That was bearable, but now they have them over the actual scoring on games. In effect, it’s virtually impossible to play. I should also note that I had previously paid for the old version of the scrabble app, then they upgraded it, decommissioned the old app, and wanted us all to pay again - but this time significantly more. What a joke.

I’m an adult. Why has scrabble devolved into a kiddy format? I paid decent money for a board game on my iPad. That is all I wanted. An electronic version of a game that has been popular for nearly a hundred years. The iPad version of Scrabble is now crippled and this replacement is a monetized cartoonish kiddy game replete with silly noises, big eyed goofy ‘characters’ and no hard computer to play against. As a consumer what did I do wrong to have this happen to me? This format is just guaranteeing no one who used the original game will use the new one and the new one doesn’t have the tradition (nor functionality) to attract new players. Poorly executed and I feel hard done by.

A game meant for children. After playing scrabble for many years on Facebook and with it disappearing , I thought I had better give scrabble go a try. What a lot of noise and silly things to collect along the way. I’m not going to continue on this game, a game meant for children under 10, not adults. It’s an insult to intelligence ! I am now playing the classic version but with adverts after every turn I’m losing interest fast. And there are no ongoing stats to see how I compare to other players , the ones on there reset every week.? Also seems to be a lot of men on there only wanting to chat someone up! So now I’m playing against my very limited number of Facebook friends as many of those I played with on the old scrabble won’t play this version.

Killing off the old Scrabble app. I HATE the new Scrabble Go! It is full of cartoons, strange ‘gems’ (what are they for?!) and rubbish I am not interested in. I do not need goals or incentives - the only incentive needed is to actually play the game! I want a straightforward Scrabble game I can play with my friends or play against the computer. I want it to keep score, allow me to use the Dictionary for free as many times as I want, and the usual Scrabble features of exchange tiles, pass a turn, and Hints/best available word, and to see what tiles remain. That is - the features that the old Scrabble by EA had! Why change something that is working fine??! Anything else is meaningless rubbish. If I could give minus stars to this app I would.

Fun and challenging. This is a great app! You can treat it in any way that you like. You can play classic Scrabble or you can choose to play any one of about a dozen different variations. Scrabble Go itself is the main game I play and it is played much like classic scrabble EXCEPT that, for a price ( in “gems “, which you earn as you play ), you can swap letters without penalty ( very useful), have a “boost” play a word for you (these word scores are rather low so I almost never use this boost), or be shown the location (but not the letters) of every possible word - useful especially towards the end of the game. I also love Duels - a quick timed game against another person, and Rush, where you play on your own and have 3 minutes and 10 turns to score as high as possible. If you’re tired, there’s an easy option in Word Search; if you really feel like a challenge there’s Puzzle Path - a series of increasingly challenging games where you have to achieve a certain score in a set number of shots. Besides being fun and challenging, Scrabble Go has really improved my strategy and vocabulary and made me a much better Scrabble player. I definitely recommend it for clever people.

Oh no - they’ve killed Scrabble. Seriously, the game is barely useable under the many, many layers of clutter. What was an absolute classic, shown just as the game with a couple of helpful additions, is now a parody of itself. It’s the Las Vegas version - glitz and show, without really being the real thing. And all those ‘people’ waiting to play are clearly not - they’re just ready to play whatever the time. It used to be a great game focussed on words and improving vocabulary but now it’s about crystals and tiles and lots of other unnecessary rubbish. It’s only the fact that the real game does still exist in there somewhere that it merits one star. Why can’t we have the old one alongside this nonsense??

Ads Galore and Creepy Facebook thing. This game seemed okay on the outside, regular and fun scrabble until you dig deeper underneath the surface Upon opening the game you'll also be greeted by "do you want to open with Facebook?" Despite how many times you may say no, you are continually asked each time you enter the app On top of that, if you do manage to play the game Until around Level 8, you'll encounter Ad City, the game has its own ads but then at lvl 8 it forcefully plays video ads that you have to watch to play the rest of the game and No, turning your internet off doesn't stop them

So. Many. Ads!. I don’t normally mind ads in games. I use the time to give my eyes a break from the screen. However there’s an ad after every word, which is way too many. Some ads are hard to click out of. The Home Screen is confusing. Many different versions to play eg against friends/random players, get to certain score, events etc. All I want to do is play a simple game vs either a random or the computer. I downloaded after seeing a word search-type ad, which is only unlocked after reaching level 10. Lots of prizes that are completely unnecessary eg card collections. Do not care at all about those. Game can also be slow to respond when trying to play a word. I like the automatic feature telling you if your word is valid or not as you’re playing. Simplify the game, cut the ads, and you’ll get a better rating.

2 stars for reliability but 5 stars for game. I’m writing this review today, because I am heavily addicted to this game. A couple of colleagues also play of mine, but not really anyone else. The one day I have a few mates wanting to play (they took me up on the game suggestion) and the game freezes up on loading. I am quite honestly, completely miserable. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted the iPad, updated the iPad, restarted again, re-deleted the app again, turned off then re downloaded the app, and the dang thing still freezes on the green scrabble page before my profile comes up. Very very sad. Very annoyed. Especially since today is the first day my friends want to play. So only two stars for reliability and that’s being pretty nice about it. Also, it reckons my nickname is already taken, however that is me, who has taken that nickname, so not sure what’s happening there.

Needlessly flashy, loaded with useless features.. Long-time Scrabble player, this version is worse than that game where you cousin was drunk and resentful, and the cat scored a triple word bonus by vomiting on the board. This is a game which anyone who is remotely photosensitive needs to avoid- the excessively flashing graphics for the smallest thing will send anyone’s brain into a tailspin, and the game is programmed to light up like a Vegas Casino at every possible opportunity. Basic functionality like “best word”, “highest scoring move”, and even some game modes have been paywalled. Great if you invested early in Bitcoin, not so good for non-tech moguls. The social features were clearly designed by an extrovert who thinks introverts are a myth, and the most basic game modes are buried so deep in the app that unless someone navigates you through the sensory hell of the rest of the app, you have no hope in hell of finding it. Indeed, this app is a prime candidate for a torture tool for anyone who actually enjoys Scrabble. In short? If you want to actually play Scrabble, this is NOT the app for you.

So, so disappointing.. I feel like I’m back in kindergarten. Whirling stars, pop ups every few minutes, explosions of jelly bean colours. Honestly, do the developers think we are all 8 years old? I would think most Scrabble players are in their middle years and just want to play a good representation of the original board game - even my grandchildren, who have played the board version of Scrabble, think this is a load of rubbish. If they want to play “kids stuff” there are plenty of alternatives out there. I have unfortunately deleted Scrabble Go and won’t bother again unless I hear there has been a change of heart and a “classic” alternative is offered.

Total disaster. This stupidity of this new version is beyond comprehension. The interface is incredibly confusing and totally infantile with silly childish cartoon faces, garishly coloured twirling flashing shooting things, endless intrusive popups etc. etc. giving it the appearance of an arcade game. Although there appears to be an option to play the classic game it can only be played against other players and not the computer so I couldn’t try it. When ‘play against the computer’ is selected the computer gains a silly cartoon name and face and neither the dictionary nor the two-letter word lists are available. I read recently that the average age of Scrabble competitors was 40 to 50 so it beggars belief that an ‘upgrade’ to such a classic game appears to have been designed to appeal to kindergarten children. Deleted in disgust!

Horrible. After many years of absorbing and enjoyable playing of the original Mattel version of Scrabble, we are suddenly told it is to be discontinued and replaced with this version. I can’t begin to express my disgust at the infantile bling and constant interruptions to award meaningless gifts or whatever. The only reward Scrabble players want is the thrill of finding a great word to slot into an impossible spot, and to win at the end! Additionally, the graphics are poor and visually tiring, and the layout confusing and busy. Would it not be possible to provide a no-frills version for those of us who just want to play Scrabble and not some vulgar arcade game. Please!!!

Ads, ads and more ads. I have been playing Scrabble Go daily since the original scrabble was taken over by this game. I have persevered with the deterioration of the game but finally gave up and deleted the app. The continual ads now cover the top of the screen making it impossible to move from one screen to another as the arrows are covered. Ironically the main ad is to purchase ad free playing! It is trying to force one into purchasing this as you are held hostage by the ads and cannot move. This is unacceptable in a game. The game also freezes quite a bit causing one to shut it down and reboot on a regular basis. Please avoid this game like the plague if you don’t want frustration on another level. Farewell to Scrabble Go for me, what a relief!!!

Absolutely hate this new version of Scrabble. Super disappointed in the new Scrabble Go. I’ve been playing the old scrabble with my 91 year old mum for years and we’ve both really enjoyed it as a way to connect when we live a long way apart. But this new version is full of gimmicks and impossible for her to navigate, her eyesight isn’t great and she doesn’t understand all the stupid bonus stuff or how to get back to her games. We had to buy mum a new iPad just so she could upgrade to the new version and it’s been a complete waste of money. We JUST want to play classic Scrabble, nothing else, no fancy tiles, no bonus rubbish. I tried selecting the classic mode but I’m still getting a lot of unwanted gimmicks. (And please can I turn off the creeps that keep trying to start games with me? This is not Tinder!) If you can’t fix it then I will have to get mum into Words With Friends instead, she won’t like the different layout of the board but at least it’s playable. PS I would have given this app zero stars but it wouldn’t let me so I’ve put one. PPS I’ve given up and deleted this app now

Useless Gameplay, Useless App. I just want to play Scrabble, but instead the App is overwhelming crowded with advertising, strange side game options which I have no interest in, and endless pop ups trying to get you to spend money. This all ruins the fluidity of any actual Scrabble gameplay. As if this wasn’t bad enough, it seems most the alleged people you play against are actually bots or vs computer type gameplay. Your opposition regularly takes a ridiculously long time to play their turn, and sometimes don’t take their turn at all just leaving you permanently waiting. This can mean a simple game of Scrabble can literally take hours, or will never be completed. The makers of this game need to seriously make some giant improvements, they have ruined Scrabble, and I genuinely can’t think of any positives at all!

Designed for children. The new app seems to cater to an audience other than actual Scrabble players. It appears to have been aimed at ten year old children who want to earn points and see bright lights and cartoons. This is either a deliberate move to shift to a younger demographic, hoping that people who already play the game will hang in there, or an accident in hiring app designers that don’t connect with an educated, literate audience who plays the game in quiet moments and to relax, not to stimulate reward centres with movement and frantic activity. I would suggest you offer a separate app (or keep the old app as a separate thing) so that those who have paid for it and who want a more realistic Scrabble experience have that option.

Surreal. This is surreal , to say the least. Looks like a bizarre comic book. The game is there - buried in amongst a bunch of new games, rewards, offers to purchase ‘gems’, boosters, and a ton of bright colours, cartoon characters and fairy floss so it takes a while to find and play because of constant interruptions by the ads, rewards and pictures of players. There is also a function for other players to communicate directly. Within 24 hours there was one player, sending messages - asking for my email address, 10 in rapid succession, that made them sound insane, to say the least, scary & too personal. If people actually fork emails or other details over I hate to think what that player does with it. Uninstalled about 3 minutes after that exchange. Tried to report to Scopely, got automated responses, requests for more information, and the necessity to lodge in-game. It would be tough to find in amongst that fairy floss, & I uninstalled so I’ll leave that. Technical issues, a scoreboard glitch mid game where the score fluctuates sometimes and numbers change quickly from low to high for about a minute. After it settled I wasn’t sure if that was my score. The VIP subscription offered seems to be for nothing but to remove ads and a few other worthless functions like gems to change tile colours. In sum, the game isn’t worth it and scary on a number of levels.

Beware of your Gems disappearing.. This app is not very clear in how it works. Your gems can vanish if you don’t know what is happening during this app’s tournament.. the staff cannot help you to restore your gems at all. I was shocked to see my Gem score crash to almost nothing without warning by this App’s various tournaments. Because this is an App covering the whole world population don’t expect each match to be played to the end on the same day... some days your opponent does not play a single turn.. there’s no obligation for them to play straightway. Do not believe this App’s Leaderboard scoring. It does not reflect your score for scrabble only. The ridiculous score of more than millions points for the leader on the board is not from scrabble at all.. my experience is I beat these leaders but that never shows on the leaderboard at all. The staff are polite and nice according to the company policy but can’t help you when you make innocent mistakes. I rate this App very low. I look forward to moving a real proper Scrabble app free from nonsense leaderboards and disappearing Gems. Thanks for reading this partial review

This app is a poor replacement for scrabble. I paid for the original scrabble app and happily played for years before it was replaced by this awful app - the ads are distracting and designed to beat you into buying a subscription by interrupting every second move. The AI doesn’t work in solo mode - it never makes a move and then crashes. The UI is awful if you just want to continue a game already started. This is money grabbing at its worst and I refuse to pay for a subscription for something I already paid for once and only use in solo mode - why not have a one off payment for that and subscription for online?

Where’s Teacher?. I have had to move to this Scrabble Go after the Scrabble I used to play was cancelled. Whilst this one is only just ok, it is nowhere as user friendly. I find there is just so much on the front page it’s hard to find things. I just want to play with one person but all these other names come up. Can the developers please have options with a drop down menu rather than all over the page. I also miss Teacher that would let me know what word I could have used. And sorry I think that should be a free feature. I had paid a one off payment for the no ad version on the old scrabble but now I’m expected to pay monthly. Not all of us want all the bells and whistles that are on Scrabble Go, we just want a plain Scrabble game. The old one was perfectly fine. I would have given Scrabble Go zero stars but it wouldn’t let me.

Scrabble Go. It’s a great app, sadly though this year a few sleaze bags have destroyed it for me. I never had a problem until this year, I don’t know why or what has happened, in the last week especially it has been an onslaught of middle aged men treating this app as a way to crack onto me. My advice is do not put up a picture of yourself as your profile or use your real name just to protect yourself. I just want to play scrabble!

Used to be good. I used to enjoy this game but is now flooded with ads an extortion attempts to get you to pay for it, for a monthly subscription fee of more than double other apps one off fee. If not for the one person I play against I wouldn’t bother with it. Totally lost its integrity. Definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone for future download. When the one friend I play against stops using it I won’t bother with it either. Update: ended up paying for subscription to remove ads. Was ok for probably a year but now they’ve reintroduced ads for certain parts of the game like exchanging tiles when before you could do by using gems. When questioned they told me ‘oh yeah we’re doing that again now for everyone’. How dare they change the rules AFTER you’ve been paying for a monthly subscription. They can stick this game where the sun doesn’t shine. It’s rubbish.

100% better since updated!. Since its update the game appears vastly better than it was. It seems more responsive (network speed etc), there seems to be a multitude of game options now, or maybe they just stand out more now! The whole look and feel of the game is certainly fresher. They seemed to have "heavily borrowed" ideas etc from the game Word Domination, e.g. Duels! For my money Word Domination is still a superior game set up, but this newer version of Scrabble Go is worth a look, or a revisit for the newer and improved version and the freshness injected into the game overall.

WHY?. Two things before my review - One, technically this game works smoothly, that was technically and the reason for a star. Two, I encourage you to try it and if you truly love the real Scrabble experience you should write to Mattel or Hasbro or who ever manages the branding of Scrabble and encourage them to remake just a Scrabble game like we have at home on our boards. Why do we need so many bells and whistles on a game that was perfectly fine. It not only is distraction from the actual goal of scrabble -which is to play a game with words against friends, but it cheapens the overall game of Scrabble. Do Mattel not care about the quality of the game experience? Did they think there was something wrong with it? As far as I’m concerned whilst there might have been the occasional bug, in the old format, this is a very backwards step. In landscape mode on my iPad the board is smaller, the tiles are smaller and it’s harder to find the actual games I am playing with friends. I also find that it will start a game because I hit the wrong part of the screen whilst going to tap elsewhere. I am most unhappy and feel that it would be better to go to words with friends which i prefer over this roadcrash of an experience. I do believe they did call the game the right name but left out the punctuation - Scrabble? Go (away)!

Unofficial dating site?. I decided to give this game a go after a friend of mine a few days ago suggested we play a few games. I linked through my Facebook so my profile picture was automatically connected to the game. This was a mistake...... a seemly innocent picture of myself going to work attracted scores of creeps within the first 24 hours. I just want to play scrabble not chat, be harassed, called names, all because I don’t want to talk. Please please please have an option for silent games. PS ladies ( and men as I am sure you are coping the same harassment) change your profile picture. Dwight from the office appears to be great deterrent!

Challenging games but too many ads.. I have enjoyed playing this game as there are many options and levels of play. However, I can never seem to win unless I play an easy level. The opponent always seems to have better tiles and gets unbelievable scores. This gets a bit annoying after a while and play becomes BORING. The main issue I have is the endless advertisements that interrupt play and are so hard to escape from. They seem to be on an endless loop. I can handle a couple of ads but when you can “bake a cake” while waiting for the ads to end that is frustrating. It also makes you lose the thread of play. I do realise that you can pay to remove ads but there are just too many compared to other games that I play. Actually this really spoils the game play.

Worst game ever. I downloaded this game but it wouldn’t let me progress or submit tiles. The game which when I opened it wanted a review and I hadn’t even played the game but when I tried to play it all I got was new game or other games or someone else to play the game with me but I had started playing but the game wouldn’t let me continue the same game. The actual scrabble game I downloaded did the same so have deleted them and I won’t re download the games either. I’m going to stay with my brain word game as at least I play the iPad and get hardly any interference from ads which is a pleasure. Fix this glitch so people can play a game and enjoy it without having more games shoved at them and also get to play the game right through. Also fix the glitch where you developers want us to review the game before we even get to play the game.

Scrabble Go - Jan 22. Sadly, deleted AGAIN within in a few days due to constant advertisements. But since I last installed it the ads are even longer & appear after making just one move in a game. And the ads now require multiple clicking out of to disappear. Also, when you pay for letter swap with gems, it often gives you the same letter back. It could have been a great game, but I have better ways of spending my life. I thought I’d try it again but straight away was reminded why I removed the app the first time.

Initially great but..... Being in a hard lockdown because of COVID, this app kept me amused for hours. It was quite enjoyable to play, easy to manage and never froze. At one stage I was playing about 15 -20 games at once, which I suspect everyone was doing. As I moved up the levels, I noticed the selection of letters I ‘drew’ out started to get harder to place. If it had happened in one or two games I would have put it down to bad luck. However, it was happening in every game so it must have been their algorithm. This annoyed me. I then accidentally pushed one of the buttons and discovered a ‘cheat’ where the game placed your tiles (at a cost of course). Maybe it was me being nieve as after all the developers had to include ‘in app’ purchases. That took away the enjoyment. I deleted the app immediately.

The good and the bad.. The good: No ads! This is a great thing for a free app. The board is big and the style and format is good. There’s a number or different games to play too. The bad: Unless you have gems or you purchase them, you can’t progress a level in a Duels match. Sometimes you have to wait 14 hours for a ‘free’ turn. That’s the same with the tournaments which you need tickets to play. You can’t get the tickets unless you play the games and you can’t play the games unless you have the gems. The latest update has some bugs that need fixing too.

Worse than previous Scrabble app. Worse in most ways that matter, but better in some ways that don’t. 1) I don’t like that the board is now so SMALL! Why do I need to see the back of the other player’s tiles, at the expense of the size of the playing board? 2) You used to be able to see ALL the current games on the ONE screen as you played, with time of last move, current turn, scores etc. You could manage multiple plays at once, from the same screen. That’s gone. 3) You used to be able to form and test out words during the other player’s turn, to see whether all the words would be accepted; now you have to wait for their entire turn to finish before you try this, then waste their time and make them wait while you do so! 4) After every turn you have to click again to get back to the game because it offers you, after EVERY MOVE, all this other stuff. 5) You used to be able to try out words in a dictionary BEFORE playing them. That’s gone. 6) A 2-letter word list used to be one swipe away. Now it’s gone too. 7) Starting play now takes 30 seconds from opening the app, as well as extra clicks. 8) On starting up the app, you have to say every time if you don’t wish to log into Facebook, which is annoying... can’t this be set either way as a default via Settings? The rest is pretty minor, though I personally dislike the whole look of the app (lurid neon colors, kooky characters, etc). It would be good to be able to customise the aesthetics.

Scrabble ungo. Well my friends and I love to play scrabble we have all been going to clubs for over 20 years. Many of us have been playing another scrabble app which Mattel no longer supports and will be disappearing soon. It was excellent, just scrabble no ads. To be replaced with this. So far away from the original game it’s enough to make you want to puke. Tiles unlike original board unlike original, what are all these stupid gems and levels? And treasure chests? Where were they in the original game? This app is carap. And to make it worse there is an add by Yahoo that isn’t functioning properly and I have to get out of the app, there is nowhere to contact scopely.

Brilliant but. I’m playing in Australia and most of my opponents seem to be in UK. My biggest gripe is that you don’t get to see your own achievements but you do see everyone else’s. News features everyone’s win - except mine. I don’t see if I’ve been ‘favourited’ by any one. Only that I’ve favourited them. That makes me feel outside of the group. Developers, please change this and encourage chatter. I like to chat during a game but it seems I’m the only one ...

Highly addictive. I would have given a 5 star rating but as of the last few days I have been hit with heaps of ads, whereas there were none to begin with. After nearly every play I get one. When you play a dozen people it becomes annoying. I would happily pay for the game to ditch the ads but as yet have to work out if that is even a possibility. If not, it may go the same way as the other games I no longer play. Great game but too many ads 😓

Extremely Bizarre. I’ve been asked by my Scrabble friends why I’m not going to swap to the new Scrabble Go format. Well here’s why I won’t be joining new format. I downloaded the new app a while ago to see how it would work and apart from the very scary messages I received from several players as soon as I opened a game - very pushy requests for details / where did I live /who was I/ and other personal requests/- I just hated the sparkly exploding things which followed almost every move with offers of all kinds of “rewards” I neither wanted or understood- and the game of Scrabble has just been swallowed up in the frenzy of activity. So it’s not for me - and although I will miss my long time Scrabble players friends - I’m not going to be bombarded with unexpected, unwanted and unpleasant advertisements and messaging. So, over and out!

Huge disappointment!. I have played Scrabble with friends and family for years and it has been a wonderful way to stay connected with friends that have moved away, as well as distant family. None of them, after having seen this version of Scrabble are willing to continue playing. It is way to busy and created for children. We adults just want to play Scrabble. Amateur game that is not even close to meeting the standard of the original Hasbro game.

Horrible. I loved the old scrabble game, where I could have about thirty random games going at one time without all the crap. Even in classic mode, you can’t navigate easily to your list of open games. I’m not interested in challenges and collecting points. Simply want to play a bunch of games.

Oh my goodness people what were you thinking?. This is an awful game. I installed it and tried it then deleted. Wanted to wash my eyes with soap and water afterwards. Bad graphics not easy to use I guess you were trying to make the old Scrabble a sexy new game. You failed. Don’t even bother find a different game By the way this is the first negative review I have ever written. It’s that bad

Hate it. I just want to play Scrabble. This does not allow that. It’s awful - all the unnecessary gimmicks distract from the game; the incessant requests for information and the lack of the Scrabble supports such as the 2-word list or dictionary is disappointing.

Awful. This app is simply awful. I don’t understand why a very simple and familiar scrabble design was scrapped in favour of this unicorn vomit design. There is no organic flow, it’s colours and flashiness is giving me seizures, and I cant find the dictionary. We realize this is a free app but why do this to people? This is designed either by pre-teen birthday party decorators or by people who don’t know their user base. You want to monetize it you can do it without giving us aneurysm. Is there somewhere the old scrabble app still available? I’d pay to use it. I feel like original scrabble is the ex I now realize I didn’t treat well, please come back I beg you.

Misrepresentation?. There are sixty (60) 5 star ratings in the list out of a reported 17,000 plus total reviews and some of them look to be bots. How can the overall review be 4.2? This app is abominable and I suspect the overall rating includes ratings for the original Scrabble game which is truly 5 stars. Do not fix this app, it is basically flawed. Give it up as a lost cause, delete it and return to the original game.

Stop trying to be candy crush and give us a simple interface. Get rid of the animations and extras and give us a clean simple game of scrabble. Even the Classic view is too gimmicky. This ruins the game for me, and all my friends have dropped out anyway.

Junk. Terrible app has ruined a great game. I just want to play scrabble.

Scrabble classique. Je préférais de beaucoup la version Scrabble antérieure, plus sobre, sans toutes ces quétaine-ries . Et je souhaite ravoir le professeur!

Horrible UI. The user interface in this app is the worst. It is way too busy. Hyperactive. ADD. Do all of us scrabble players a favour and provide options to turn off all the animations and ‘extras’. Add an option to be invisible to people not on individual friend lists. Add an option for simple mode: I don’t want to earn anything but points for plays, in the classic game. I just want to play simple scrabble with my friends. Simmer down! The only reason I’m using this app is to stay in touch with friends who also play scrabble, because the EA app is broken. Blech.

Scrabble Ruined. This is a ghastly substitute for the older version of Scrabble. Who cares about rewards, power ups and jumping graphics? Nobody who actually enjoys playing Scrabble, that’s for sure. It’s enough to give you a headache. Give us a version without all the glitzy add-ons and we’ll be inclined to play a lot more.

Sucks. This new scrabble is horrible. It’s to loud, too busy, and too complicated. My grandmother plays the old one and there is no way she is going to be able to wrap her head around this new one. I hate everything about this new game.

Horrible. This isn’t a reasonable substitute for the EA scrabble. It is full of stupid prizes, noises, pop ups that have to be clicked to get rid of them and a constant barrage of game offers. If it were possible to change settings for private games only, no extra crap, I would consider using it but as it stands, it’s headed for the trash.

Visual pollution and endless advertising. Spectacularly terrible imagining of a wonderfully deep game. Utterly hateful to play with long, garish and tasteless video advertising at the end of *every* turn, even in classic mode; not to mention the banner advertising. The disgusting money-grubbing of predatory app-buyer Scopely is horrible to watch - they’re prepared to ruin the game for the vast majority for the sake of a few sad whales happy to fork over an exorbitant monthly fee so they can pay to win some shallow and derivative minigames. All the cartoon characters, bots, flashy animations and My Little Pony tilesets are the icing on the least appetizing cake in App Store history. Scrabble Go is an unmitigated game design disaster - the best I can hope for is that it becomes a textbook example of how to ruin a beloved game, and someone else with a modicum of taste picks up the franchise once Scopely have extracted all the cash they can wring out of it.

Downloaded, tried and swiftly deleted. I tried this app when I heard my current Scrabble app was being rebooted and just as quickly deleted it. Please make a Scrabble version that is not so gamified...there are serious Scrabble players out there who just want to play the classic game. This is what differentiated the current version that is getting phased out. Now it’s just another Words with Friends...I’m devastated at this and literally dreading when I get locked out of the old version in June. Please do something about this for us loyal players to the classic game!!

Worst App Ever!. How does it have a 4.2 rating?? Just read the reviews! Giving it a 1* is generous and that’s only because we can’t give a 0*. Maybe when everyone ends up deleting this version they’ll rethink things and give us the original back!!

Bring back old scrabble. This new version is ridiculous! Hyperactive and distracting. I’d pay for a version without all of this interface to manage. Ugh.

Just awful!!. None of the feedback that we provided has been incorporated into the Classic game!! It is noisy and distracting for anyone that loved the original Scrabble. No one that is serious about Scrabble will play this game.

Just stealing info. Doesnt work just wants your FB and email

Disappointed. I downloaded this app because I found out the other (real) Scrabble App was going to be deleted soon. The platform is hyperactive and, sadly, I won’t be playing Scrabble anymore. My whole family and many friends were playing Scrabble but we all dislike this version. Disappointing.

Serious players stay away!!!. How does this have the overall rating that it has? 4.3 is just not possible based on the posted reviews. Just read a few - I've scanned through scores of them and almost all are just 1 or 2 stars. This app sucks out all the pleasure of the game of Scrabble. All the animations, sub-games and click-bait are ridiculous. They become the dominant experience of the app, rather than actual game play. Developer is more interested in harvesting email from your contact list. Booooo. Bring back the EA experience!

Nightmarish. This app looks like a slot machine mixed with a fireworks display. Please simplify this app.

Very Sad. Been using Hasbro/EA version for years. Everything about this new game is terrible.

WORST APP EVER!. Do not download this app! It does not have any features that are worthwhile. No dictionary, no teacher, no best word, etc. I am deleting this app immediately. Don’t need in app purchases for Scrabble either! Developers have not provided Scrabble fans with a great new app at all!

Just horrible. Tacky, cheap, buggy, full of gimmicks and microtransactions. While EA's Scrabble was far from perfect, Scopely's version is one of the worst video games I've played. I'm also curious about how this app maintains a 4 1/2 star rating on the App Store when all user reviews are 1 or 2 stars, which makes me think that the score is artificially inflated by bot accounts. Been playing Scrabble on mobile for over 10 years, but I won't be making the transition to Scrabble Go.

Ads galore. An ad after every move is RIDICULOUS! Deleting this app because that is beyond annoying. I just want to play scrabble. I shouldn’t have to wait 30 seconds of battery draining repetitive ads, just to play a game.

The UI is so busy it’s a turn off. I’m a UI designer and I can’t believe how insane the UI of this app is. I tried it and started feeling dizzy. Everything moves and pops even though I havent even done a game yet. Hard to find where simple things are. It feels like a FisherPrice toy. Have you talked to you users?

BOTS posing as real people. I enjoyed this game (looking past the horrendous UI and really intrusive “gems” pop-ups) for about five minutes, before I got suspicious of the other players. They would play within seconds of their turn starting, their photos looked like stock photos, and they never seemed to try very hard or made use of the extra point tiles. I looked their names up online, and it turns out they’re all just bots. I joined to play with real people, not bots. I’ve deleted the game. I wish I hadn’t wasted my time on it in the first place.

Terrible interface. I just want a simple interface. The animations are distracting and irritating. It’s confusing to navigate. I don’t think you understand who your audience is.

Scrabble Go is Crap!. If I wanted to play Scrabble and be reminded of all that is horrid about Vegas I would fly there and play the old version of Scrabble. Too many moving, flashing juvenile icons. Just sucks,

Scrabble Go.. This is the worst I have ever seen. It’s like a bunch of three-year-olds designed a game for intelligent, thinking adults. Example of not knowing who your audience is. So sad. If someone else comes up with a game similar to the old version, you guys are done.

Awful. The so called Classic Mode is just as awful. Not anything like the nice, normal, calm game format we used to have. Soooo disappointed with this new version. Why did it have to change? It is NOT an improvement. Please give us back what we used to have. I don’t want silly graphics.

Horrible version of scrabble.. It’s like they mashed words with friends and candy crush together. They’ve stuffed so much JUNK on one screen it’s impossible to navigate. The pop ups are horrendous and I don’t need a badge to say 20 or 30 plus. There is no way to turn off the requests to play from people I don’t know and I’ve found no way to start a game with more than one opponent. I gave it one star only because I couldn’t give it less.

Deleted Game. What were you thinking??? What happed to the Great Game we had??? I guess it is back to the Board Game!

What a joke - AWFUL. I wish I could give this negative stars. Just a horrible replacement for the old EA Scrabble app. The user interface is like a Candy Crush bastardization of Scrabble. HATE all the stupid rewards and animations and silly tile designs and suggested games with people I don’t even know! On opening the app I can’t even find what to press to get to the open games I have going. It is BEYOND stupid. This is an infantilized take on what is supposed to be a thoughtful game. Plus, now there are ads EVERY time you take a turn, delaying your turn. A total, utter disaster.

Please bring back the old version. The old scrabble version was blocked for me today. Sad day; the new version is not a replacement, at least for me. As was stated previously, the teacher feature was a great tool, not sure why they dropped it in the new version.

Terrible. Bring the old scrabble back. I don’t want to earn XP, there is no proper dictionary to use and I can’t seem to get rid of the number “3” in the corner of the app for notifications. What is it even notifying me for after I have opened it? Simple Scrabble with the look of simple Scrabble that’s what I liked about the old version. Yes I see I can play in classic scrabble mode but it is still not the same. I had to enter a star but didn’t want to say any stars. This app keeps shutting down too. I miss the old style of dictionary as it was much easier and faster to use. I also miss the seeing the teacher word.

Just way to much going on. This app is overkill. The old app is far better. I’d like to play scrabble without being bombarded by prizes, options and other distractions.

Terrible. As a dedicated scrabble player and app user for 10 years, I find this utterly ridiculous and a complete waste of my time. Goodbye scrabble forever.

No thanks!!. Way to take a classic game & ruin it, UGH 😞

Stop the cute!. I just want to play REAL Scrabble. Why do they think we want it all candy coloured and overdesigned. I would rather play your knockoff competitors than this atrocity. Why would the rights holder for Scrabble want to treat it so disrespectfully? To the shareholders, somewhere in a boardroom someone made the decision to green light this atrocity; fire that person immediately

Scrabble Go. Dreadful game! Worst I have seen. I have played original Scrabble for over 20 years! This is not even close. My friends will not play. We should have been given a choice, not an ultimatum. I am extremely disappointed with this company. I read quite a few reviews and Scrabble Go is not winning any reviews. Thanks for thinking of loyal dedicated Scrabble players. Linda Thompson

Beyond Disappointed. Online Scrabble has been part of my daily life for years. It’s a way to keep connected with my family and friends, to unwind before bed, to devote my mental energy to something other than all of the crazy things happening in the world right now. It seems completely counterintuitive to market such an intellectual game towards a juvenile demographic. No one who loves this game plays it to earn jewels. Please, please, PLEASE consider releasing a mature version of this app, even if we have to play for it, that devoted players can enjoy and respect.

Terrible. We had to switch from the previous Hasbro scrabble which was beautifully designed and very user friendly. This version is just unbearable with all its widgets and useless messages. I really don’t know why the game designers make it a point to come up with such crap.

Horrendous!. Must be the worst interface ever designed. Completely missed the target audience. Thankfully there are alternative word games out there.

Original Scrabble Way Better!. This new Scrabble version is way too busy. Way too much going on on the screen. Get rid of all the gifts/bonuses. Ad free version for $6.49 per month seems pretty ridiculous when the previous version was a one time purchase to go ad free.

Disaster!. Who thought this new design was a good idea? It’s a disaster. I will never play. Bring back the classic scrabble board! I feel like I took acid looking at this mess!

I feel like I’m 12, and my 12 year old self still doesn’t like it!. Can I just play scrabble? I don’t want diamonds or trophies. I am uninstalling a game I have loved for years.

yuck. What happened to the old version of Scrabble - much better than this. Also does this only offer the U.S. dictionary??

If Dr. Frankenstein played Scrabble .... I am not the first to say this but it bears repeating: there are three great scourges in the world today for genuine Scrabble players — COVID-19, the economic crash and Scrabble GO. Complete trash. Ruins the original game and poisons our lives. Bring back the classic! Can anyone imagine what these ‘developers’ would do to chess if they owned the rights to it? Bring back the classic.

Fun minus the ads. Love playing scrabble on this app. I play everyday and have loads of games with people and the game itself is really enjoyable - but I can’t stand the ads. I think there’s far too many - popping up after every move in a game. Worst part is that if you’re playing any audio from your phone in the background - music, podcast, etc. the ads will often override your audio and start playing their own audio which is typically obnoxious. I constantly have to swipe to to the control center to get my music playing again and sometimes the ads cancel out my audio entirely so then I have to go to the app my audio is in and restart play from there. And even though I have audio in the scrabble app turned off it still does this and there’s no way to stop it. It’s infuriating. In addition to that - every single time you open the app it asks if you want to connect to Facebook. NO. I don't. And selecting no once should be enough.

Visual chaos and unlevel playing fields. So many graphics and flashing and ugh. I just want to play Scrabble. Not collect different themed tiles. Not play, essentially, boggle. Not play a timed game on a smaller board. Just Scrabble. Initially, I was irritated by the sacrilege to Scrabble purists. And then by the need to share your entire contact list if you want to play with a friend who isn’t on facebook. And then by all the ads that underline the fact that you’re watching your life pass by in 30 second increments, or the graphics that require endless taps to see what treasure you earned (and really don’t care about). Now, I’m focusing my irritation on the lack of fairness in competitions. You can use gems to buy more time, plays, hints, better tiles (!). Are you really competing on a level playing field? Whether it’s a one-on-one game or some variation on a Scrabble game in the “arena,” your score and rank don’t say anything about your game skills. If you don’t invest in premium tiles, just try to compete with someone getting Qs and Xs when you have a rack with UUULIAI. Reason #64,579 I need Covid-19 to go away - so I can step away from this.

So buggy.... Obnoxious ads that force play frequently on full-screen and weird animation of “prizes” that constantly try to entice you to do some in-app purchase may be...understandable to a degree, given the app is offered for free. The same may go for the aggressive pursuit of personal data. (I was pleasantly surprised that there was even an option to *not* log in with facebook, though that “play as guest” option is grayed out and would have to be selected every time you start the app.) But the app crashes so often (a dozen times before completing one game) that I wouldn’t even consider paying to remove ads. I was also unable to locate any in-app setting page that gives you control over features and data, or shows what greater control a paid version would enable. I would love to pay for a simple, non-interruptive interface with online match function, but this is clearly not it. I love scrabble, and played multiple games through the aforementioned obstacles, propelled by the power of obsession and the circumstance of a global pandemic, but even I have to give it up now. It’s just sooooo buggy...

VERY VERY VERY disappointed!. Why take a classic classy game and ruin it with your cartoony nonsense?! There are so many purists that played original scrabble without all the silly bells and whistles. We even paid the $7.99 to be rid of the ads for 3 months. So many original scrabble players would have been willing to PAY for the old game back. SHAME ON YOU! To turn such a great game into a Vegas looking cheap APP. Think about WHO your demographics are. They do NOT want this crappy game. I feel like starting a petition to get the old version back. Seriously. Can’t believe that you have any reviews above a 1 star. I highly doubt any of those folks knew the old game. Now that JUNE has arrived and the old app is no more we are all stuck with this ridiculous replacement. Again SHAME ON YOU for not at last offering a REAL CLASSIC ORIGINAL board game for the folks that were forced to transfer over. People are willing to PAY for a classic board game and not the foolishness that you are offering. You should send a hand written apology to every Scrabble player that you forced into your pitiful APP. Again SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!

Classic Scrabble Please. I’m always on my phones and play lots of games but I was sorely disappointed with how the competitive play is in this app. I started a couple of game at 3 pm today and literally still waiting for players to take their turns. They wait hours between plays and if I cancel the match I lose the game and rank. Literally 8 hours I’ve been playing a couple of games with the same ppl WAITING for them to play their turn. That’s TRASH. Unfair. Everything else people are saying is true too. The home screen is WAY to fussy. It’s overwhelming. Plus the tournaments are crazy short and it’s stupid that theirs no way to access those style games out side of the tournament. It would be nice to be able to play those (word tumble etc.) either solo or easily accessed outside of the tournament mode because otherwise it’s such a short game play (1:20 or so of games play). Smt. My mind becomes disengaged. Which is defeating the purpose of why I downloaded scrabble. ... smt. Thank you for the app, but I’m not exactly happy with it. I might just download something else and delete this one.

Ads, Ads, Ads,. I downloaded this to play with family, two days, later I’m done. Deleting the app. For every word I play I get bombarded with pop up ads, some of which have fake close X icons that open a link to purchase the product. Talk about deceptive. I would gladly pay a one-time fee to get rid of these ads, but that option is not available, only a subscription for $8.00/month! Sorry, this was supposed to be fun, not cost $100/year. Additionally, all but 1 “male” player in the game has tried to get personal information from my wife; name, marriage status, number of kids, email, even physical address. I’m not sure if the developers built this app specifically to prey on people, but the sheer amount of unwanted and inappropriate chat behavior is really suspicious. I’ve seen plenty of other reviews indicating the same issue going back 2 years, so I suspect this development company either doesn’t care or is complicit. Either way, there are far better apps for word game enthusiasts. Vote with your dollars and drop this game off a cliff.

Ugly, poor design, cheesy. I’m disappointed.. I moved away from Words with Friends because I thought it’s design was obnoxious and I hated the forced social media aspect of the game, along with the fake events they force you to participate in. I downloaded this game, thinking it would be better and less cheesy. It is even worse than words with friends, I’m half tempted to switch back. I read online that they discontinued an older, more classic version of scrabble and I understand now why they players of that game were mad. I assume the app designers of this game think consumers want shiny, bubbly, bright nonsense over a quality game of scrabble with friends and family. Also, I don’t understand why there isn’t a multiplayer option so you can play the same board with a group of 4 instead of just a 1 v 1. (At least I didn’t see that feature anywhere). Safe to say I’m disappointed in both of the options available for a game of scrabble, which is sad because before covid that’s what we liked to do when we got to see each other.

Awful. This is the Anti-Scrabble.. I love scrabble but scrabble go is flashy, glitzy, and distracting. I don’t want to look at diamonds and watch ads to open a chest and see what kind of ice cream coated tile I might earn soon. I want to look at the board. My 9 year old looked at this game for a few words and was floored by how annoying it is to play. Not only that, they have bots pretending to be humans who constantly challenge you. And if you don’t turn it off, scrabble go will repeatedly alert your phone to try to get you to play with these fake people. I’m not sure how this game has so many stars, maybe bots are also posting reviews. Ads are all over the place, when you play a word: 30 second ad. Try to click to message someone who is actually human: 30 second ad. Want to remove ads? There is no way to purchase this game it is $5/month indefinitely. $60/year to remove ads, and you still can’t remove all the glitz. I’ve been playing the old scrabble for 10 years on the iPad, and will find something else to do with out of town family members when the old scrabble is gone.

Nightmare of an interface. I love the board game Scrabble, but this app saps the joy out of it in an attempt to be “sticky.” There are at least a half-dozen screens within the app that have nothing to do with your in-progress game. Just learning how to find the games you’re playing is a process; I have one active game, but the app shows it as seven because it’s encouraging me to accept their matches. After most turns, there’s some sort of interruption to promote prizes and other in-app games. I can’t even figure out what most of the prizes do. I have five active notifications for the app that have nothing to do with the game I’m playing. I’ve clicked everywhere but I’ve had no luck dismissing the notifications. And while I sound like a cranky Boomer writing this, I assure you I’m a tech native Millennial. All the in-app junk is distracting and time-consuming. In many apps, paying to get rid of ads cleans things up a lot. In the case of this app, all the lard comes from the game design itself. The best thing I can say about it is that it doesn’t freeze and crash the way Words with Friends does.

TRASH. Edit: After reading other comments, it seems like people think that this new format is only offensive to “old timers.” I’m 22, definitely not an old timer, and also think this trash app was made for 12 year olds. I also agree with everyone’s concern about the scammy ratings on this app. There is absolutely no way it’s actually at 4+ stars. I hate this new app and will switch to crosswords when the original Scrabble app is taken down. Everything about Scrabble Go is trash, from its childish yet confusing format to all the ads and random prizes to even the ostentatious way it shuffles tiles. It is distracting, it is aesthetically awful, and it keeps trying to make me play with randos when I prefer to just play against the computer. Please bring back the original Scrabble app I paid $8 for. This new game is literally trash and I would not pay a single cent for it. I can barely play on it for 3 minutes without wanting to gouge out my eyes. In what world did someone think users of the traditional Scrabble app would consider this crap an improvement?

Horrible is a complement in this case.. I have never seen anything so devoid of purpose in my life. The developers appear to believe that the more shiny objects you throw at people the more garbage they will accept. For true Scrabble lovers there is little to enjoy with this version of the game. There are constant interruptions during play between the shiny objects thrown your way and constant queries regarding whether you want to start a new game. I for one would prefer to finish the game I am playing before I move on to a new one. No need to ask me after every single move. The program is written in such a way that you are forced to attend to all shiny objects like it or not. In total the actual game is presented as an afterthought rather than the main feature as it should be. Scrabble has been around for decades. With this new version, however, rather than challenging one’s mind it makes your head want to explode. I don’t know if that speaks to the lack of intellect applied to development of this version or a perceived lack of intellect among future players during the development process. Either way, what a terrible loss .

Why mess up a good thing?. This new version of the Scrabble app is basically a bad version of Words With Friends—and that’s saying something because I previously felt that Words With Friends was a bad version of Scrabble. The loss of the Teacher feature is particularly disappointing, as it was a unique and useful feature. It appears that I can no longer play against the computer, unless I want to play Zoey who doesn’t seem to be particularly good at Scrabble. Classic Scrabble is only available if I want to play against other people. There are a bunch of irrelevant mini games that I have absolutely no interest in playing (because I’m here to play Scrabble). I’m a pretty tech savvy person and I found the new interface to be confusing, cluttered, and difficult to navigate. I understand that this is a brand new app and there are features the developers are still working on rolling out, but the fact that they’ve chosen to prioritize nonessential features that have absolutely nothing to do with the game itself is disappointing, to say the least.

It’s OK but.... I am playing three different scrabble games now, SG, WWF2 and WW (If you don’t know the acronyms you probably are not reading this review anyway). I like Scrabble Go well enough, there a lot o people there willing to play me. March of this year is the first time I have played Scrabble in a long, long time. I am enjoying the game. But I have three main gripes. First I get a notice I have mail but I cannot find it. It is not to be found and believe me I have looked. I try to always answer but I don’t know if it is received or not. I seem to be the only person with this problem but if I did something to switch off my mail I don’t know what it is. It is not the regular options to turn off mail from someone because I have not used them at all. Then there is the problem with how the game scores points. Not all the bonus tiles work. If used they do not operate. This is very annoying. Please fix the game. Then there are the tickets for a free play. If awarded by a chest there is a ticket cap of 5 tickets. But if awarded by the scrabble club there is no limit to them. I think that makes the ticket cap ridiculous. Everything should be capped or nothing at all. My preference would be no capping. I said there were three things wrong with the game but I was incorrect. The fourth is the ads. I will keep my language clean but the ads are an incessant annoyance. I doubt anyone will do anything about them but I would appreciate a reasonable alternative.

Bugs-needs updating. I’ll admit I prefer this app to most other scrabble apps in spite of the plethora of irritating ads & how unethical the app is. However, they desperately need to fix the bugs. Every single day that I use the app, I have to completely shut off my phone & restart it at minimum 1-2 times as the app totally freezes up & that is all I can do to get the app to work correctly again-EVERY day (e.g., I had to restart my phone 3x today while using this app! Unbelievable!)!!!! Another frustrating thing is the tiny “X” in the corner to escape the ridiculous flood of ads won’t work at times & you get stuck in that screen if you don’t restart your phone & some ads are ridiculously long. Soooo frustrating!! What’s really disgusting is that, even if you turn off sound in settings, there’s still sound in ads & you have to put your phone on silent mode yet, even then, some ads (many) STILL have sound!! The plethora of advertisements will still blast out loudly. It’s so frustrating & screwed up (slimy & dodgy app).

Bad Notification Experience. I got this app to play Scrabble with my wife. I changed the game to Scrabble Classic, because all we want to do is play Scrabble with each other. However, I CONSTANTLY get notifications for game modes that are not accessible in Classic Mode. If you accidentally click on one of these notifications, it will put you into that game, and the app will freak out because you aren’t supposed to be in that game mode. I have contacted the devs about this issue and they stated that this is not intended behavior to get notifications for all of the events and game modes of the GO version, but nothing has been done about it in the MONTHS it has been since they said they would look into it. Their solution was to turn off notifications for the app, which obviously is NOT a great solution when I want to be notified when my wife plays her turn… Additionally, though I have been able to block random people from challenging me, there is no way to stop the plethora of bots from challenging me. I don’t want to play Scrabble with Plato or Tom the Turkey. I just want to play with the one person I want to play with. Outside of those issues, when playing an actual game, the experience is quite nice. The UI is pleasant and readable and the sound effects and animations are fun without being over the top. If the issues I mentioned previously were resolved, I would easily rate this game 5 stars.

Too busy & long games. As others have mentioned, this app has too much going on and should be stripped of some of the unnecessary features. There are a lot of things on the dashboard and one of the most annoying is that under “active games” a bunch of challenges appear from strangers when you haven’t even accepted to play with them. This should be separated from the games actually in progress and not included in the app notifications. Also, after every single word you play there’s a pop-up encouraging you to start more games, which is really distracting. Another problem is that if your opponent doesn’t make a play for a long time, you can’t quit the game or it’ll count as a loss to you. I have been waiting more than a day to finish about 6 games in progress with players that just have their first word and/or abandoned it almost at the end. There should be an inactivity time limit for each board/opponent so games are not endless.

Annoying update. First off, let me say I’m an avid Scrabble player. That being said, when I downloaded this app about two years ago I was stoked. At first I wondered about the special tile collections but then got used to collecting and completing tiles and started to enjoy that aspect of the game. Now, after the recent update I can no longer collect specialized tiles UNLESS I complete other ‘collections’. I hate this update and I’m definitely not trying to intentionally complete any of these collections. I’m now discouraged to open this app because it now takes too much to earn a special tile and the push to complete these ‘collections’ is annoying. Please bring back the tile chests! P.S. I have found a way to identify the scammers..check their profile to see their level. If they’re at level 800, it’s a fake person. I always check new game requesters to see. If they’re at LV 800 I decline their request and move on.

Too much extra.. I would have given 5 stars if not for all the extra crap in the way of playing the actual word game. That is why I quit Words with Friends and deleted it from my phone. I paid for it to get rid of ads and then with every update more unnecessary junk was added to it. Like cheats. If you have to buy cheats you shouldn’t be playing. And all the prizes. Why? Why can’t we have a simple word game for people who just enjoy playing without all the useless bells and whistles? UPDATE: still no fun. Why can we not just have a word game that is just for playing the game itself and learning new words and not for all the stupid prizes and cheats? I’m not playing for useless prizes or unfair cheats. And I’m also not playing to meet people and tell them my life story. When you finally wise up and go back to the simple word game without all the useless irritating fluff I’ll play. Hell I’ll even pay to get rid of ads. But this version just is a waste of time and energy.

This app is seizure-inducing. I like change, but this version of scrabble is absolutely terrible. It feels like I’m inside of a slot machine in Vegas. Quit all the add on junk and just give us the game. Also, stop lighting the tiles up green or red when a word is valid or invalid. Totally takes away the integrity of the game as you can just mindlessly mix and match a bunch of tiles and see what works. If you are trying to mimic words with friends, you are doing a terrible job. Go back to the classic view. Stop giving us worthless diamonds and gold stars. I find it almost impossible to find where the notifications are coming from so that I can get rid of them. Stop inviting random people who I’m not friends with to play with me. This should be a setting that you can turn off. My friends and I were all excited to get this game and play each other, and all 8 of us deleted it within a day. This was during the COVID-19 outbreak. I know you “just launched” but my god, just make some changes so that my eyes don’t bleed when I open this app.

I want a shot at all the past tiles. I use scrabble to frequently and it has gotten me more interested in serious scrabble. However I do appreciate the gamified aspects of the app including collecting tiles. Unfortunately some of the tiles Id really like are never offered in the “ random past tile draws” Overall, I would say the new reward format is leading me to get more tiles faster and is more clear than how it used to be, but there are still a few frustrations. - wild cards- are useless when you already have all of a certain kind of card in a collection. They should be redeemable in some other way- like five greed wild cards becoming a yellow or being applicable to a different collection. - there should be some way in which to choose the collection you want to earn coins from. - I wish I could trade in a few tiles I don’t like for one that I do. Even 5 for 1. - the level perks- going from gold to platinum etc- are pretty nonexistent. You get to watch more ads? Cool? I would care more if there were better perks associated. More ad free time. More flexibility with rewards. - the adventure games do seem to become impossible at a certain level even when I am using gems to buy advantages. ( ps. The arts and crafts collection is really pretty and if you could make those tiles available I’d appreciate it. )

Ad’s steal the spotlight. I was looking forward to playing scrabble with my mom and downloading this app, but the amount of ads truly ruin the experience. It’s an otherwise fun take on scrabble with various game modes, boards, and fun tiles. I really want to love this game, but I spend more time watching ads than I do playing. There’s an ad after every move and after every reward. I’m not against paying to remove ads- I have before- but when I checked and saw the price is $8 a month, which is $96 a year, I was dumbfounded. The app is basically built to where it’s not enjoyable unless you purchase their $8 “subscription” to remove ads. Unfortunately, if I’m spending almost a $100 a year to play scrabble without ads, I’d rather splurge on a pottery barn scrabble set. This is a fun game that allows my mom and I to connect and play when we are away from each other, but I will probably start looking for another app.

So much going on, but at least it’s scrabble. I’m a scrabble fanatic. So I was excited to learn there was an app OTHER than words with friends (which is NOT scrabble, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise) for playing scrabble against my friends. I’m satisfied with the board and the general sense of “ok at least this is scrabble with only scrabble dictionary words accepted.” And the leaderboards and personal statistics do make you feel accomplished (at least I do). However there are too many pop up ads, and like the other reviewer mentioned they have way too much going on with collecting gems and chests and cards etc. Is it cute that you can work/earn your way towards getting different designs of scrabble tiles? Yes. But it’s SO busy once you enter the app. Bottom line: it’s good for playing scrabble, but you have to get past all the eye candy and attempts to make you utilize in-app purchases. I’d prefer if they made an option to purchase the app without ads. I’d be all over that.

love scrabble!. i officially play this game all day every day:) of course the adds are annoying but it’s something you get used to and it doesn’t faze me enough to hate on the game, nor stop playing. and yea, weird ppl chatting with you is also annoying… just mute the chat option and there you go! what i do find absolutely bogus is the whole card collection thing & you need to complete them in order to get new tiles. since that system has been going on, i barely get any new tiles! & i have really put a lot of effort and time and once i even purchased a card pack, totally obsessed with getting the entire collection but you just keep getting the same ones, over and over again! from paying actual $, to playing duels to the top etc, i hate the card pack deal… let’s go back to the way it was before!! please!! also, the adventure levels het harder and harder and it’s literally impossible to beat without using diamonds for power ups or extra opportunities. the difficulty should balance out and actually allow people to win! or when you beat a level without using all the turns, maybe they could accumulate and you can use them when you run out of lives/turns. overall, great game… but please forget the card collection and give us opportunities to get new tiles.

Horrible, irritating, distracting, nightmare.. I love scrabble and really wanted an app where the rules for words are the same as the real scrabble. In other words, not words with friends where you can play words like JE. This app has the most stupid, bizarre and distracting crap that I just don’t care about. I’m playing Scrabble, for God’s sake, not candy crush or pac man! I just want to play my words. I don’t want diamonds and tickets and stupid tiles with ancient Egyptian stuff on them. Who do you think is playing this? Six year olds? Please, please, please! Just put out a regular old Scrabble app where I can play the game without being interrupted every other turn by ads for some stupid war game I would never buy, or being showered with diamonds or leveling up or what not. Worthless waste of time! Furthermore, the virtual opponent is an idiot and doesn’t know how to play at all. Can we have a more challenging virtual “Zoey” please? This is a horrible app. I would NEVER pay any money for it. I would be willing to pay good money for an app where I could just play Scrabble without all the crappy distractions. Please turn off all that JUNK! Thank you.

Great Game But.... Pros: I like how there’s so many different types of scrabble games you can play. If you want to play a classic game of scrabble which takes longer then you can. If you want to challenge yourself and play something quick you can with “duels”. It also keeps track of your word averages etc. Cons: I don’t like how long it takes to earn the scrabble tiles, you literally have to play non stop in order to get them and once you do they give you the ugly ones like “pancakes”. The tiles are also biased. You have a lot of socialistic and controversial promotions which is just annoying- can’t we just play a simple game without it getting into political, socialistic, controversial issues? But that’s just my personal opinion. Just very one sided. Also, I’ve noticed their dictionary isn’t as up to date as it should be. There are a lot of valid words and it won’t count them.

Scrabble go. It was very fun at first then it started to crash all the time. I would earn rewards then I would try to get them and it would Just go off. Then I would have to get back on. It just got worse and worse. I would do everything it would tell me how to fix it and it never worked. Now I can’t play it at all . I play one move and it goes off . I have 10 rewards in my mailbox it will not let me collect. I don’t know what is wrong with it. I am going to have to find another game to play which is to bad because I really loved this game. So don’t even start playing this game. It’s not a game that you can enjoy because of all crashes, bug, and how much time it takes just to play one turn. And you work hard to get your rewards and you go to collect them and it goes off and you don’t get them. I can’t even get it to stay on long enough so I can get my number to give to the makers so they can try to fix it. I don’t think it will ever play right . So don’t even waste your time. Just try to find another word game. Good luck

If 2020 was an app.... In summary - Obnoxious user interface, missing features, and paid features that should be free. On the positive side, getting it isn’t fatal to anyone. The User interface is a complete assault to the senses. The actual scrabble games are buried under an assortment of cruft and mini-games that have nothing to do with scrabble. They did come out with a classic mode that is slightly better, but it still sends notifications for features and challenges that aren’t in the classic mode. There is no dictionary at all. The only way to look up a word is to place it on the board. That feature is kind of neat but it’s not fully implemented. This game was touted as the perfect replacement for the original scrabble mobile from Hasbro and EA games. However, the old game had a teacher that was really helpful to know what the best word was with your current tiles, and it was a fantastic educational tool. The teacher has been replaced by the scholar. However, the scholar is only available for people willing to pay a huge monthly fee. Thank you Scopely, for taking a great educational tool, and charging money for it.

Not worth the frustration. Every single aspect of this app is an exercise in irritation. The menu is unreadable drivel. The notifications are relentless. You can’t even play a turn without being prompted to start another game (every few hours I’m told my game with “Shawn,” who is clearly not a real person, is about to expire, though it never does). Can you play Scrabble on this app? Sure, if you don’t mind getting spammed with diamonds and treasure chests and custom tiles and incessantly nagged to try duels or tournaments or whatever other gimmick they dream up to exploit our need for instant gratification with casino-brain warfare. The whole interface is designed around engagement, not Scrabble, which is a shame because the Scrabble functions are actually pretty good. (This gets only 1 star because, as well as the app runs, this awful design was on purpose—and that purpose is to keep your monkey brain lit up with nonsense, not to let you play Scrabble.) Skip this cotton candy help-scape and try an app that is designed to actually let you play the game you want to play. Lexulous is pretty good.

Distracting and disorganized. At first it was a pretty good game and I got really hooked for a while but when I started doing the additional challenges where you duel in order to gain winning streaks of x amount in order to win a prize at the end of the map, I started to get really annoyed. I was on 5/ 20 for the longest and I realized no matter how hard I tried it was impossible to beat where it was almost unfair. I don’t think you match us up with other people that are in the same level as me. I just started and you’re matching me up with people who are waaaay higher of a level than me in the game which really bothered me. You need to organize it better to make it fair where you’re matched with someone on or near the same level as you. Also the layout of the game is super distracting there’s a lot of annoyingly bright colors everywhere and my OCD is kicking in and the way the app looks with all those features of prizes, ads, offers, leaderboard, challenges and different ways to connect with players is giving me a headache where I hate hate hate navigating the app. Please make it simpler or you will lose more people like me.

Everything Except Average Word Score. Why does average word score never go up even as I get progressively better the more and more I play? I would think with all the high scoring words I play and games I’ve won, sometimes by 200 (or even one time 300) points or so that would be factored into the “average word score” that everyone can see when you click to play a game with them. Scrabble is my favorite game and I can be very competitive, so I’m sorry if I’m coming across as a Karen. 😂 This glitch bothers my fiancée too! Otherwise GREAT GAME, if you can get past all the ads. Seems pretty cheap to go ad-free, I’m just broke right now 😌 Legit though I’ve been telling people it’s better than Words by Friends because it goes by the rules of actual Scrabble and trying to encourage family and friends to download it, including my sister who lives in Germany and we now play against each other 🫶🏻

Give It A Chance!. I have to say, after I started my first few rounds of a game, I was ready to delete the app and go back to WWF. After playing more, the layout of the home screen becomes more familiar (though not the most ideal) and it’s easy to play and similar enough to the classic game that makes quarantine feel less lonely. Major bonus: there are NO ADDS!! Something WWF is consumed by. It’s easy to see if tile placements work or not, messaging is a breeze, and you can invite everyone you want easily just like WWF. The con here is the home page layout. Going to the bottom to find your games is a bit annoying but you get used to it. Would be great to have all active games right at the top eventually! Anyway, give it a try for a full game and THEN decide if you want to go back to adds and app glitches on WWF. Ps. Destroying my little brother who’s an aerospace engineer gives me all the bragging rights I could ever need.

Hard to navigate. I grew up playing Scrabble, and loving playing it. I was disappointed to hear that the old app was being discontinued. However, I’m always willing to give things a try. I didn’t mind the graphics, I’m guessing they are trying to make it more appealing for younger ones. I’m giving it a one star review because it’s impossible to start a game with someone you know. I tried inviting my husband to play a game with me via a Facebook invite and an email invite. Both times it would just take him to the app download page (even after he downloaded it) and when you would open app there would be no “game invite”. This needs to be fixed, especially during a time (Corona) when people can’t get together in person to play games. It would be wonderful to be able to play games with our friends but we can’t because we can’t figure it out. I have zero desire to play a game with a random player which seems to be the main focus of the new game. It would have been great if the old game could have been left up for those who prefer the classic game.

Waaaaay too many notifications and ads. I got this app because my Scrabble homie moved away and it’s a fun way for us to keep in touch, but it’s only been a week and I’m actively looking for an alternative. I love that we can play asynchronously and get a notification when it’s my turn again, but there are an excessive amount of extra notifications that serve no purpose. I’m already likely to open your app several times a day - what makes you think I want it to consume the rest of my life? I’ve tried several times to find a settings area where I can manage what kind of notifications to receive (not turn them completely off), but it doesn’t exist. Even “chatting” with their customer service doesn’t help - it’s just a bot without a notifications option in its library. Second, I’ll echo what everyone else is saying about ads. They’re not even good ads, just for dumb games I’ve never heard of. What makes you think I downloaded Scrabble to play a different game? Definitely feels like a built-in annoyance made to get you to pay for ad-free.

Horrible!!!. I’m upgrading to two stars because I found where I can play against the computer. It’s still totally confusing to me to navigate though. I would like to open the game and just see the Scrabble board and who I’m playing against. This app as it is now gives me a headache. Like others, I would give this zero stars or minus if I could. Too much of everything. Home screen too busy, too many people challenging me to games that I have no desire to play. I don’t want to be invited to play with strangers and I don’t want them seeing me. I can’t even find a settings page to change anything. Clean it all up, or I’ll be deleting the app. I don’t have the energy to try navigating through all of the unnecessary screens. Just give me my game, the dictionary, teacher, and the ability to play against the computer. You can toss the rest. Still trying to find my way around in this app. I keep seeing games started by other people to which I never responded. Isn’t there a way to shut that off? One last thing, the board colors are too pale and hurt my eyes.

Version for 2-year olds. I agree with the other negative reviewers. The developers took a classic game for adults and made unplayable by them. It is filled with so much distracting glitz and childish animation that no one interested in a relaxing and somewhat intellectual game could tolerate it. Even the Scrabble dictionary lacks the words to express how truly horrible this app is. The developers have pleaded for time to fix the problems but their error is conceptual, not in programming. So here’s my advice to the developers, although I have little confidence that they will heed it. 1. Simplify, simplify, simplify. Eliminate all pictures, smiley faces, and animation. The game should be relaxing, not hyperactive. Take a lesson from the works of Edward Tufte and use as little ink as possible. 2. If you must provide options that do not exist in the physical game, such as swapping letters without losing a turn or seeing possible plays — and I understand that you want a source of in-app revenue — at least provide an option that disables those things for both players. Let people who want to play a traditional game have that ability.

Fun Idea, but way too “Busy”. I love scrabble, and was excited for a new app to play Scrabble in. The new matchmaking and everything is a lot of fun and makes it easy to play with random people, which is great. HOWEVER, you cannot turn off the randomized matchmaking or stop people from inviting you to games. By the time I deleted the app because I was too stressed out by it, 10 different people (9 of them random people I don’t know) had all started games with me and if I didn’t take my turn, they would keep “reminding me” to take my turn and I couldn’t find any way to cancel the game or turn off these game invites. That, and then the fact that it’s $5 per month just to turn off ads is crazy. I paid $7 for the previous scrabble app to not have ads, and that was lifetime pricing, but now they don’t support that app anymore and want me to pay $60 a year for a new scrabble app to not have ads? That’s just ridiculous. Either way, cool idea and the scrabble games itself are fun, there’s just not enough control over who you start games with, and it gets to be extremely overwhelming.

Scrabble. I enjoy playing the game especially since covid; however I find many of the men are looking for an on line relationships even though I make it clear I’m happily married and show a picture of the two of use they still push for more making it uncomfortable to continue to play with those men. Some have even pushed so far as to ask you to send them money due to their crises. This is wrong at all level and have blocked them. Out of 30 I have block 27. Other than that I’ve enjoyed building on my word playing game and the challenges from all the global players. The women play each other without conversation. What ever you do don’t give out your last name, home address, phone number and if you go to hangouts to chat remind them you faint accept calls and you don’t bail out strangers financial NO ACCEPTIONS!

Ugh. Too much going on in this new version. I just want to play scrabble without earning rewards and all the different screens etc. if you liked the regular version of scrabble, this will not be satisfying. Also, this game keeps kicking me off and I have to go back in, particularly annoying when I have earned a play in Duels and when I finally get back in my earned play is gone and I have to watch an ad or pay with diamonds. Get that fixed please! With that said, I will continue to play, because I love Scrabble, but with this version I do not play as long, as I get so frustrated with having to click through all the stupid awards and getting kicked out. Hopefully that will be fixed, because if it isn’t, I may have to give this Version up and just play Upwords! Scopely, I am so furious with the way this app keeps quitting on me! Either you are scamming me out of my free plays or your app is so bad you can’t keep the app running! I have been patient, thinking it would work itself out, but no it’s worse! Fix it and by the way you “owe” me many free plays in Duels!,,

Enjoyable… but…. I loved the game in and of itself. But like another user who reviewed this website, I ran into two women who used the same dictionary (a different one than I use). Being as young as I am, I responded when these two people who tried to talk to me. I figured it was fun to make friends. They asked me questions and both offered me to join them on Google chat. It quickly got out of hand when she asked me to send a picture of my “beautiful face”. Next, she asked my salary (which I don’t have). Then she told me she wanted to kiss me. I immediately blocked her and deleted not only this app, but Google chat too. Whoever was trying to steal my credit card information went too far, and ended up grossing me out. Please Scrabble team, no legit person uses the chat. Please remove this feature so others can enjoy the game! If they’re friends they’ll get ahold of each other on Facebook or other messaging platforms. If not, oh well. At least no one is losing money or falling into some elaborate pyramid scheme. Please remove it if you can!

A bitter disappointment. For those of us who were forced to emigrate from the EA app, or just those seeking a traditional Scrabble game experience, this version is appalling. For serious players, the rating system in no way relates to the skill level or won-loss record of the participants. Whereas the EA site provided ready opponents at any time of day or night, this version often leaves you waiting for hours (or indefinitely) until your initial play is countered. The program has also been manipulated so that the blank tiles never appear on your first rack (while there are reasons for seeking to eliminate an unfair advantage at the start of play, there are better ways to ensure that without altering the true Scrabble experience). The site itself is a virtual cheap flea market-looking mess, unappealing to older enthusiasts. Furthermore, the duration between required moves is absurdly long and also does not provide an elapsed time indicator which can be helpful. My suggestion is to examine the EA app and incorporate its unencumbered format as an option for those of us not interested in a myriad of distractions. Monthly fee? Gladly.

So disappointed!!!. This used to be my favorite game on my phone. I’ve given it about a year, but this new version of Scrabble has only gotten worse as the months went by. Now I dread getting on to TRY to play a move. The rewards and gems and other garbage are nothing but distractions to those of us who really just wanted to play the game itself. I am booted off the game at least 5-6 times each time I try to play and it takes forever to reload. Usually, before I have played all my moves, I end up closing out of the game in frustration and move in to something more enjoyable. As others have stated, the developers of Scrabble Go have really missed the mark with serious Scrabble players and have trashed a perfectly good game. Don’t care about gems, rewards, treasures, leveling up, or any of that stuff. I have been trying to play the “classic version” but still have to put up with too much nonsense. Lexulous is a MUCH better option, for those who want to just play a Scrabble-like game. Am about to kick this app to the curb.

The. WORST. I’ve never written an app store review before but this app is SO bad I have to write one. As a decade-plus happy player of the EA version, like everyone else we are being forced to make the switch to this piece of garbage app, which has taken everything thing good about the old app and turned it into horse manure. What was simple and classic has turned into busy, unmanageable, and looks like a clown threw up all over it. It automatically starts random games with strangers even if you don’t want that. If adds completely unnecessary bells and whistles that don’t belong in a classic Scrabble game, such as stupid upgrades to different tile colors and points for things you don’t need points for. And of course, you have to pay money (join their “Scrabble Club”) in order to have standard classic features such as the Teacher. The app is overly busy, unnavigable, and annoys me endlessly every time I want to give it a chance. As much as I want a vehicle to continue my long enjoyment of playing Scrabble interactively with my friends, this app is so bad that that era may come to a close. We can’t stand it. It’s so unfortunate that the perfect EA app has been ruined by this trash.

BADvertising nightmare -we need to boycott this app. At first, you could end an ad after 5 seconds. Now, most times even when you can ‘bypass’ or end the ad you get a second one and have to wait another time for the X to appear so you can close the ad. Some ads you have to search the screen to locate the X because it’s very faint. The developers want us to pay $7.99 a month to eliminate ads which is ludicrous. Someone at scopely hasn’t taken economics to learn about price point relative to volume, as explained here on Wikipedia: When a vendor increases a price beyond a price point (say to a priceslightly above price pointB), sales volumedecreases by an amount more than proportional to the price increase. ... As a result, total revenue (price multiplied by quantity-demanded) decreases when a firm raises its price beyond a price point. Scopely is way beyond that price point and they know it, but they also know that for a given time us suckers will refuse to pay $7.99/mo just to play because we like playing Scrabble with our friends. I suggest we all stop playing for 30 days. See what that does to their (probably) multi-million advertising revenue.

I just want real “ Classic Scrabble “. When I first installed this app, I hated the fact that there were ads every turn and they lasted for up to 30 seconds. And an addition is that they have a million other ways to take your money. I also don’t want to give them my contact list just to get the special tile. They are turning this fun and entertaining classic into a terrible video game, which clearly no one wants. I would not give this app any stars at all if I had the option. After I finish writing this I will delete the app and take out the REAL board game where there aren’t any ads or popups or anything else. Yes, and there are annoying rewards that I could care less about. I just want to play “Classic Scrabble” without anyone in the room, but “classic” is the word they are not understanding very well. Modifying games doesn’t make them better, it does the opposite. You don’t need to respond and try to get out of this one. I really don’t care. I am lucky I didn’t spend any money on this game, and no matter what you say, developer, I will not reinstall this app.

Not traditional at all. I started playing this because my other scrabble game that was being discontinued recommended it. I’m very disappointed. You can play random players but so far I’ve only finished 3 games because no one plays back in a timely manner. And the nudge option doesn’t seem to pop up until like 3 days of unresponsiveness instead of 24 hours like the last one. If I wanted to actually play something to make up for unresponsive players, your options are tournaments and duals. Playing 5 turns is rather fruitless in my opinion in the duels. And the tournaments don’t really vary from one to another. You only have a couple minutes and a certain amount of moves to play as many words for as many points as you can. The rewards for each thing aren’t worth it at all. You mostly play for new tile patterns but you don’t earn enough diamonds to win any of the tournaments. I’d rather play a normal game with actual people, and this game fell far short. I’m very sad the other game is ending. I’ve played it for years. I won’t be playing this one anymore.

Hellish Torture - Ads After Each Move, Loud Cheap Video Ads. You’d have to work really hard to mess up a classic game like Scrabble, but these jerks have done it. It’s torture to play this. Really. The amount of ads every second, it’s a painful experience. To stop the ads, they want you to “subscribe” for NINE DOLLARS A MONTH. Are they high? Certainly, they are sociopaths, trying to see how much they can annoy, interrupt, tax their players limits as to how much ad assault they can take. (There’s also the “level up” bits and things to “win” which are very old-school-ugly designs, and I have no idea what-the-h they are for except, another way, to keep the players from playing the game, from getting a turn. I am aware that “hate” is a strong word, but I hate these people that made this game, and whose open hand is nearly popping through my screen as this is a non-stop money grub. I hate them. They have ruined too many of my relaxing nights to play a game, by stressing me out and frustrating me so badly. Constant invasive interruptions, insane amount of my timw demanded for their stupid sociopathic torture. Hate them. Don’t play. It’s a mind-f%**#.

Pros and cons. Pro: scrabble is a super fun game. Great classic. I love playing it. Cons: are endless. The visual is too busy. The ap is glitchy. I have an iPhone X and everything is updated. They promise gifts for doing things and then do not give the promised gifts. It’s very disorganized. The ads are over the top ridiculous. To remove ads is a monthly fee. If I pay any money on an ap at all I expect for ads to be gone for good. The ads are so intrusive. They do not care if you have all your sounds turned off they blast noise no matter what. The ads glitch out regularly. The ads are long. The ads don’t always let you X out. It sees it as you are more interested. On an iPhone X you swipe up to move between apps. This app has a stall on it so it takes 3 tries to move it up to be able to toggle through your other apps which is extremely rude. This whole design needs a complete overhaul. I’m so sad to see a fun classic game being completely defaced in this way. A bunch of greedy crooks must have developed this sorry excuse of an ap. I hope someone with some ethics takes this app over and completely redesigns it and makes it fair and just.

I am a pay to play gamer. I am one of those people who wants to play basic scrabble. I am also a pay to play gamer on a few apps. I understand the company needs to have engaging cash content. If there were less animations and BEE ESS, taking less of my time, id play more. There’s just so much fluff, opening boxes and getting prizes, then the ads pop up. Time is money. Waste my time i won’t play or pay. Make the game, and save me time, i will pay for simple additional features like playing with friends, no ads, or bonus content. I’ve paid for risk, Pokémon go, and and more. They were well made stand alone, but i wanted bonus content. They didn’t need ads. It was not currency based content. Scrabble go wants me to pay for diamonds so I can compete in leagues and avoid ads. How about i pay for legitimate tournament. Not currency based play. As a stand alone, the game has too many animations, as it tries to entice me into the currency system. It is insulting to my intelligence. I won’t be buying anything from this app anytime soon. Ill just be playing basic (SLOW) scrabble.

You can't be serious!. Named "Scrabble Go" but should be named "Scrabble Going" because it's going right into the trash. This is Scrabble for who exactly? Not serious players certainly. Has WAY too much other stuff going on. What about players who just want to play a good game of Scrabble against another player? Who needs all the hoopla? No One! Well maybe the kindergartners do? I played about four words and completely lost interest. Deleted game. Won't be back. It says there's a "classic" option. Unfortunately it's not easy to find, and still too fru-fru for serious play. Sorry to see the Scrabble I have been playing for a decade bite the dust. Oh well, back to a real board and tiles. I wrote that when this first came out, years ago. I stand by that review today. Nothing but pop ups and ads ads ads. Yes, I'd pay a couple of bucks a month to get rid of the ads, but NOT $7.99. Would getting rid of the ads also get rid of all those stupid prize notifications and diamonds and treasure chests? Serious players don't want that baloney. Maybe that's why there are so few people here asking for a game.

The Ads have become ridiculous !. I love this App and especially playing against the computer generated personages! I can keep several games going at a time. Sometimes the game does freeze and there is nothing to be done but close the App and wait. Occasionally this has caused a current game to lose a play or score; but this is very infrequent. Of course advertisement is part and parcel of using a free app but some of these ads are SO intrusive and hold the player hostage for up to two minutes playing the demo! This is abusive! I will NEVER download such a game - I just put the phone down until it passes! So those strong arm intrusions have just the opposite effect! Instead of generating interest, it just completely turns me off! Don’t bully us with these controlling ads. Let the player make their choice - it’s not obliging us to watch the stupid demo, that will seduce us to download that that game. Please give us more respect.
