APP REVIEW. First, I do love the game! The format is bright, in-te-res-ting, and categorically challenging! BUT...YOUR COIN SYSTEM IS WACK!!! My coins have been disappearing for no reason,at all! While I hope you do intend to repair this...are we,your loyal consumers,going to be offered any replacement coins, at all?? I tried to do a Facebook referral, it refuses to connect. I did a text referral, I received NO coins. I’ve done several other “earn coin” processes...still, no coins! The ONLY THING THAT WORKS are watching a few videos on that one page, yet WAITING 24 HOURS till we can do it again is LUDICROUS!! AND, as I’m not trying to race ANYone, why can I not have the option to NOT BE TIMED?? Being forced into *RABBIT MODE* only DISCOMBOBULATES ME...& takes away the enjoyment of the game!! Can’t you just let us work each puzzle in our own time? What is going on?? Please, I do want to stay with YOU! BUT, THE ONLY people who can claim to have *THE ONLY & BEST GAME IN TOWN*...are the ones who treat their people-RIGHT!!! Please, WORK THE PROBLEM!!

Coins are a joke/ads are scams!. I’ve given this a 1 star rating for 2 reasons. One, coins NEVER credit when watching ads at the end of a puzzle. Why should I have to contact yet another useless tech support company when you should be doing it yourselves?? Way to pass the buck! Two, the ads that run are complete trash/bs/SCAMS! I ordered an item from one of those ads from InAHatBuy aka LucuryBuy. Complete scam, they took my money and never delivered. It’s from China, guess I should’ve known, but I like the game and trusted it enough, I mean you’re showing the ads, they must be approved by you, right? When replying to my email to them, they mistakenly sent out an email blast to many customers and guess what? They all ordered inflatable hot tubs and received stupid phone chargers instead! And some received nothing, like me. Other ads are TRASH, talking about fat burning products that are way sketchy and even showing clips from unrelated tv shows with it as if they’ve approved this junk. Total, complete 💩. EPIC FAIL.

I Love It!!! But I’m disappointed!. I love it and do it every day! I really think it’s terrible that you have to use your hard earned coins to play past puzzles!! If you didn’t have to pay to do old puzzles, I would give 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wrote this a year or two ago. Recently, the game crashed and I couldn’t play. When I got a message from you saying it was fixed, I had to reload and update the game. In the process, I lost everything. I couldn’t remember my sign in name or anything. I had to start completely over. I had been playing for years. I had played all the puzzles and was now having to replay them to get extra points. I had over 1500 coins. I had earned the coins, not bought them! After starting over, I have 530 coins. I’m disappointed!

Great game - but the coin system is glitchy.. Overall, Crosswords with friends is great. However, there are still a few bugs with the “coins” system. The “watch for free (coins)” option to get more points can be buggy (usually, you have to hit a certain “sweet spot” on the button to get the ad to play. Most of the time, you get a pop up that says “watch videos is unavailable. Please try again later.” Even then, it’s only for a few (usually five) coins, so to rack up any value, you either have to pay, or watch four to five videos a day. And to get six or seven pop ups before the ad will play gets a bit repetitive. Also, coins that I’ve saved up have mysteriously disappeared from time to time, so I have to watch another four to five videos to save up enough to play. This has not been fixed through several updates, and IMHO, seriously damages the chances someone will keep playing the app.

Love this game but…coins. Update on 11/3. Still one of my favorite games but am no longer able to play the puzzles listed on the page. Also, am no longer getting the crossword or find the words game. I don’t want to have to delete and restart because I will lose everything. I have played this game everyday for a few years. I love it. But for the last month or 2 every time I try to ‘’earn’’ coins by watching ads I watch the ad and as soon as it’s over the game crashes so I never get more coins. I read the ‘’help’’ section and looked for Tapjoy to contact them. I couldn’t find Tapjoy anywhere so I contacted them to explain my problem and they ignored me and closed the ticket. I am down to 15 coins and when they are gone I’m done…which is a real shame since I love the game. Update on 12/7. Still love but every time I try to see my standing in the weekly tournaments I get kicked out of the app. Everything else works fine!!!

Incorrect clues. Connected to FB & never received my coins for it. The same words are used repeatedly. This app brags that most of its puzzle writers have over 30-years experience... I'm finding that EXCEEDINGLY difficult to believe. Y'all misspelled "s'mores;" there's an "e" in it. So far I have come across a several clues that are either flat out incorrect, or aren't entirely correct. I've tried to find a place within the app where I can give feedback or let them know there's an issue, but I have yet to find a way to do that, so I'm leaving it in a review. There was also a clue that said something close to, "Genesis took place here," and the answer was Eden. I am NOT a Bible-thumping Christian, but I AM a stickler for accuracy. Eden is only in the first 3 chapters of Genesis, and there are 50 chapters in Genesis (and some could argue that Eden is not even in the first chapter, as that is all about the creating of everything). Do your research, learn how to spell, and give people their bloody coins!!!!

Needs Some Fine-Tuning. I played DCC for a couple years before the switch and am happy to say that I didn’t find many massive changes I was terribly bothered by. However, there are some minute details that need mulling over and fixing. I cannot, no matter how many times I try, earn free coins. I only get a message that says it’s unavailable and to try again later. I don’t know if I’m the only user unable to access that feature, but if I am, I would love to know why I’m experiencing this with the app. Also, accidentally paying for the ‘See Wrong’ option is a problem I’ve been having frequently. If you turn it on in one session and then start a new puzzle, the ‘See Wrong’ option is automatically checked and I end up paying, eventually getting halfway through a puzzle before even realizing it’s on. So, I end up paying for a perk I don’t even use as long as I have coins. DCC automatically reset it so that you had to manually click the button if you wanted to pay. Bring that feature back!

Rewards. As much as I love doing the daily puzzle and occasional extra games, it’s getting more and more frustrating that the videos you can watch for extra coins don’t add into your total after watching the entire video. The Not Available is also annoying as it’s become more common than videos being available. This is getting worse and worse. Update: 5/8/20 The videos have been better in the last few weeks. Points are adding in correctly but getting notice that a video isn’t avail and to try later is still happening. Update: 3/8/21 Once again, the videos are not available. If you sign off completely and back on, you might get one. Very frustrating. Update 7/5/21: Getting videos had improved but sometimes still necessary to completely sign off and log back on to continue.

Crosswords with friends weekly tournament. Hello App Developers, I have been playing this game for almost two months and enjoying it quite a bit. Two things that trouble me are: scoring for the tourney is haywire sometimes, and just last night ‘Win Weekly Tournament” in “Achievements” changed From 5000 coins to 20 coins - and I am finally in a position to win! Coins have to be collected by winning or placing in the top three in the tourney, in the Achievements section, by watching ads, or by buying them. It seems to me that lowering the prize amounts in Achievements is not a good idea. Also, the scoring needs to be looked at —— yesterday I had three puzzles awarded “+-4” (I was “doubling” points at the time)! My tourney total actually lowered by 8 points after each puzzle. Sometimes I get extra points and I have no idea why. I would appreciate fixing these issues —-perhaps before 3pm CST Dec. 2nd —-the end of this week’s tourney!!! 😊. My goal this week is those 5000 points for a first time winner! Thanks.

Crosswords With Friends. Very entertaining. Surprisingly, it makes me more curious and aware of who and what are involved in various areas of the news that have usually been of very limited interest to me. Thank you for opening the door to new avenues! It makes me think it’s an opportunity to review my knowledge of current events. It also makes me think about the person or persons who are responsible for developing the puzzle itself. For example, so many expressions are commonly used in my particular part of the country, which isn’t a very large or well-known part and yet no matter what, it seems that we share a similar knowledge in their usage. It’s fun to realize we have a connection, no matter which part of this wonderful country we have grown up in. I don’t know if this makes sense when I see what I have written, but I have laughed when a correct answer is a word or thought that I believed was strictly a part of my hometown and not familiar with a heavily populated or sophisticated area.

Ads.. The newest ads are very annoying. They say you can skip the rest of the add after a certain number of seconds and still receive the points reward. However, when you skip the ad at the appropriate time it throws you out of the game & you must restart the game again to continue. And you still receive no points. Absolutely misleading & frustrating. Thanks for giving me the chance to “sound off”. Love the game other than those ads. My problem is with ads as well. Many times I completely watch the ads but do not receive credit points. At other times I am cut off after one or two ads with a message saying that no more messages are able to run and to try back later. Many times I just lose the chance to earn more points.

Vanishing Streaks and No Ads For Free Coins. I like playing this game, but it angers me when I lose my streak because of an issue with the game. Ten times now I’ve lost my streak and the game has started me over. I’m currently on level 56, been playing this game for years and it’s odd that this issue keeps happening. I’ve complained about this issue, along with the issue of the game not allowing the user to earn free coins by watching ads, yet “support” is non-existent. I don’t know if this issue is because the “developers” don’t want the user earning free coins for having long streaks or what, but it’s just odd that this happen every so often, after I’ve had long streaks that have gone over two-hundred days and then BAM, I get started over. Apple, I urge you to look into the going-ons of this game/app and see why there’s so many issues. If I’m having issues, I assure you, other users are having issues also. If the “developers” and “support” won’t assist with solving some of these issues, then pull the game from the App Store until they get the bugs out.

CrossWords. I play this game almost every night and enjoy it thoroughly. My only complaint is when wanting to play for free coins by watching a video/ad, the banner that drops down saying that that choice isn’t available and to try later, that banner drops down way too often making it so frustrating that I have to halt playing; almost makes me want to stop playing the game at altogether! There had been an issue with the game not being able to be played as originally set up; the bugs were fixed and the game was playable! The bugs seem to be back; please fix this issue again as I want to get back to playing this game as before!!!! Good start but pen & paper versions are still best. This is a decent attempt to bring crossword puzzles to the next century but the app itself leaves much to be desired. The ads are annoying, yes, but there’s an ad-free version if you want to pony up real-world cash. I fed the constant nags to buy their special packs - full of coins (useful) & unnecessary features like hints - more pestering overall than the ads between games. There never seems to be enough coinage, and because coins unlock additional puzzles, I end up doing the daily puzzle and that’s it. The first two weeks I played more puzzles from the calendar but after a while, the content seemed far too repetitive to be interesting/entertaining. This is worth a try if you need to kill a few minutes here & there. But if you devour crosswords by the book like I do, stick w/the paper/hard copy versions instead.

!Grandma!. I love playing the crosswords and would do it all day if I could but I can’t afford to pay for each game and the free stars run out too quickly. Supposedly, youare able to getting 9 stars at a time and that only gives you enough to play 2 puzzles/games in a 12 hour period. The newest hurdle is the not available message that keeps popping up. You can’t play a puzzle without enough points and the points can’t be gotten. For the past month I have only been able to get 2 stars for a nine hour period. It is VERY frustrating and I am being forced to change my crossword clue company!!! To me, that is giving me nightmares. I really do love your puzzles but on a regular basis!!! Is there anything I can do to fix this????? Marge Friedman (74 years “young”🤪

Okay enough to keep. The clues can sometimes be redundant and are a bit easy (especially in regards to the “filler words” surrounding the slightly more difficult “theme answers”). But on the bright side - it’s free, the ads are minimal and non-intrusive, and there are plenty of extra puzzles you can purchase with in-game tokens you earn from the achievements and events. I don’t spend a crazy amount of time on this app, but I like crosswords and I’ll pull up this game about once a day to do the daily puzzle. My main suggestion to improve the game would be to make puzzles with different difficulty levels. If that were a feature, I’d be a lot more invested in this app. However, if you’re looking to complete a quick puzzle on a break at work or something, this app is perfect for that.

Great but Needs Work!. Ive has an iPhone since the 3GS & never been the type to enjoy “app style” games. This is the first & only game I’ve downloaded & I do love it but feel it really NEEDS some changes such as, 1. Due to the EXTREMELY HIGH cost of coins winning 50 here and there doesn’t make sense. Esp since I buy so many! Suggestion- increase amount of coins awarded based on stars awarded per puzzle. Complete a puzzle with 3 stars = auto award of 90 coins & if you complete puzzle by breaking record time then that person be awarded 100 coins. Making those of us who buy coins regularly, more eager to do so, more often! Complete puzzle w 2 stars & award be 40 stars. No coins won for puzzles of ONE star only. If a daily puzzled then award 25 for daily log in somehow. Also, increase # of coins awarded for more difficult puzzles! 2. No cost for wrong letters/answers. Not everyone uses this option but I love it lol 3. Add more than 5 puzzles to each pack we buy.

Paul. Used to love this app. Not anymore. I accumulated a lot of achievements that you can cash in or hold until later. I finally cashed in around 1400 coins. I only got around 400. I contacted them and they gave me a giant runaround. Long story short they claimed I had used them. They were all still there when I redeemed them. Eventually they just blew me off. I have been trying to accumulate more coins by watching ads. I used to be able to get around 100 coins every time I did this, by watching multiple ads. Now I’ve been trying to build up some coins again but it only lets me watch one ad for 5 coins and then quits working. A message comes up that the ads are temporarily unavailable. It’s really suspicious that it worked great until I had my battle with them over my lost coin bonuses. I wouldn’t even play anymore but I play the daily puzzle every night against my wife and we both looked forward to it. Bottom line, they should have just given me my lost coins, but they made the back and forth with their help people turn adversarial. I’m totally disgusted with them. Only reason I even still have the app is my wife loves playing and comparing times every evening.

So-So. Have been playing and enjoying Crosswords with Friends for years. Do like the new interface, but disappointed with a couple of things. First, the leaderboard no longer lists the folks I had been playing with for so long. I suspected that they are still using an older version, but a friend who has this latest version installed on her mobile device (same iOS version as my mobile device) is not listed either. I wouldn’t think I’d have to invite her to be on my leaderboard as that was not previously the case, but I could be mistaken. Secondly, since this same friend no longer appears on my leaderboard, I text her my timings using the Crosswords with Friends app. The problem is the times displayed for every puzzle I play and then text her is inconsistent. What comes up in the text message is some random three digit number that doesn’t, in any way, represent my times. I assume this is a bug the developers will address some time in the future.

Campbuny. I have played this for a couple of years. Always enjoyed it till now. It keeps shutting down and I have to start over. It erases all my answers. Yesterday I had to start over 5 times before I could finish it and then only because when I had two blank boxes, I quickly spent 10 coins to fill in the last two letters. If I thought it wouldn’t shut down again, I would have taken a few minutes to to figure it out. Today, I’ve tried to remove it and then put it in again and it is still shutting down almost immediately. I’m not going to keep trying. All other programs I have are working fine. I won’t try more than once to do the puzzle and if it keeps shutting me down, I will delete it permanently in a few days. they fixed the shutting down problem and I am now enjoying it again. I feel it is a good game to keep my brain exercised.

Fun, but.... It’s a fun game to play and I love the “extra” puzzles that they have every week to earn badges & extra letters and such. To win more coins to spend, you can watch ads, but...sometimes the game doesn’t give you your coins that you’ve earned after you’ve watched the ad. There have been plenty of times that I’ve given up watching when I noticed that I wasn’t being credited the coins. Why waste my time? Otherwise, it’s a fun game to play and I love to play it daily. UPDATE: I absolutely HATE the Word Seeker Mini Games that they occasionally put out. You scan on the letters to make words and your words aren’t even on the list. And then their words are words that don’t make any sense or you’ve never even heard of. It’s frustrating. I don’t play those word seeker games anymore when they pop up on the Home Screen. I’ll forgo the badge and “prizes” that you get when you play that mini game.

Crosswords review. The puzzles are fun and challenging. The only complaint that I have is when you go to “watch videos” for extra coins, I continuously receive error messages that there aren’t any videos to watch. This is long before you receive the “reach your limit” message. I wish that they would fix that because it’s extremely irritating! They also have these ads which have lasted at least 5-minutes and you can’t skip it because then the app locks and you don’t receive any credit. If any of these ads last longer than a minute, you ought to at least 10 credits instead of the insulting 5 credits! What else is irritating, is writing down a nickname that they want to use before sending a review. Another thing that is irritating is NOT receiving the credits after you watch these ads! However, you have to pick one that hasn’t been used!!! You know how many people use this App?!! This is ridiculous!!! It’s been over 3 months and guess what, the issues still aren’t fixed! With one exception, haven’t seen anymore of those infomercials.

Bugged. I’ve been playing almost every day for a couple of years and have enjoyed it. However, as time has gone by it seems several “features” have been added in their updates. The most annoying of which is that the app crashes, losing all progress. Today’s puzzle crashed 4 times (randomly) each time as I was filling in the bottom 3 rows. This feature arrived in the past few months and seems to be happening with increasing frequency. Another bug involves watching ads to earn coins. At least half the time, you don’t get the coins after watching the ad. Sometimes it works and you get 5 coins. Once in a while, it allows you to view a second ad for another 5 coins. Sometimes your coin total is credited without the notice. These ad/coin features appear to be very random. My rating would again be 5 stars if these features get resolved, but until then...

It’s fun but.... I have played Celebrity Crossword for years, but when I had to switch over to this game, it was like starting all over again. In some ways that was ok, because I got many coins in the beginning. But now even though it says in my stats I have played this 61 days in a row, I didn’t get the coins for playing any of the consecutive days. I agree with someone who was not happy about the hints eating up coins. I hit one by accident, but made no mistakes so didn’t realize it. The next few days I also made no mistakes. It wasn’t until 4 days of losing coins each day, I made a mistake and then noticed it was on, and that my coin numbers were way down. It would also be good to be more realistic about the tournaments. How can anyone with a life ever win? The top winners, unless I am not understanding something, has to be playing 100s of games in a week!! I guess in this case the old adage that “you have to spend money to get money”, is true. The most stars you can get in a week is 21, so people in the top leader board with hundreds of stars are spending lots of coins to get lots of coins. One week I figured the leader had to play at least 30 puzzles a day!! But, the clues are fun and just challenging enough to not get boring. I enjoy the bonus puzzles and the chance to win badges ( those are realistic). I do recommend this app to crossword puzzle fans. Unless you are an avid NYTd puzzle solver. Then this is way too easy.

This Game Is A Scam. I would give this a zero star rating if I could. I have been playing this game for awhile now. I like the puzzles themselves but overall this app is a scam. Like other people have said it ease very hard to earn free coins. You are always getting a pop up telling you there are no videos to watch at this time. But what is even worse is if you play the tournament it specifically tells you that if finish in first, second, or third you will earn 1 coin for every tournament point you scored. This is a lie. The last time I won a tournament I scored 620 points and only got 300 coins. When I complained about it they said there is a limit of 300 coins earned in tournaments. No where in the app does it say there is a limit. Since you must spend coins in order to play enough puzzles to win a tournament you end up spending more coins than you earn. This app is nothing but a scam to get you to spend money to buy extra coins. If you read the reviews you will see there is a lot of people who agree with me. So only download this app if you only want to play the one free puzzle per day and don’t care about playing the tournament.

Provides fun daily amusement.. Crosswords With Friends provides a daily way to relax for a few minutes and get some challenging amusement. It has good puzzle themes and I like the timer and star rating system. However, I think there are issues with the app and software. I have had many problems getting credit for completed puzzles and puzzle packs toward the weekly tournament. These problems have actually caused me to stop competing in the tournament. There were many other problems also encountered when I got the notification to upgrade the software. I would do the update and then I couldn't open the puzzle app for weeks thus losing my streak and missing all of those puzzles. Puzzles are great when the software works. It is unfortunate because it could be a really nice app if it worked reliably. Until the updates and software does work smoothly and properly it is just a fun daily puzzle that doesn't really lend itself to a competitive and accurate scoring environment. I wouldn't waste my time trying to win tournaments, complete puzzle packs or try to do extra scoring as you could be wasting your time and become frustrated because the software doesn't function accurately all the time. Too bad. This could really be a great online competitive and challenging crossword puzzle app.

Household Fav!. One of the two best Crossword apps ever! This is a fav in my house, even the elementary school kiddo loves it! You’ll have plenty of puzzles to do when you get lucky and have downtime. You just have to take 20 seconds from your hectic day to open and close out of today’s puzzle before 10pm EST and it stays unlocked for you to come back to and solve during your downtime. Once the next days puzzle is posted, it’ll cost you 10 coins to “unlock” another days puzzle; unless you opened it before the next days was posted. It’s also pretty easy to get/build up your coins, too so you can spend 10 coins to solve puzzles from before/ones you forgot to “unlock” before the next days was posted.

Cross words with friends. Top Notch app! This is the best app ever to get for a free game to play and still have a great time! But as of today, I cannot get in to the game itself! Do not know why yet and at this point in time it will cost me a lost streak day, yet again, unfortunately. There are some decent puzzle games available in the apps store but nothing compares with Cross words with Friends! But developers, I need your help immediately please if I’m gonna keep going on in my journey to excel at my best levels in your greatest App EVER! Please look into my case immediately please please!! I truly appreciate your game and need your help NOW! Thanks for working on my behalf and I am grateful to y’all for all that you are going to do for me! I am most grateful and humble to all of you. Thanks again for your help. 🤗! Update: It is now the 17 of February. I am still unable to to play and gain access to your app! It’s just the Greatest App available at the Apps Store! Latest update a fail. Update Jul 25, 2021. Not sure why the interface for this game was completely changed. It is glitchy and harder to read and find things. e.g. 1) During games with items awarded, when I finish the word, it doesn’t go to the next word. It just randomly goes somewhere else. And some squares aren’t white, they turn pink. 2) I don’t get a message at the end of a game that something is wrong if I’ve messed up somewhere. It used to tell me. Now it just sits there using up the clock until I figure it out. 3) I have to click on each puzzle pack to see how many coins I need to finish it. This used to be easily seen on one screen. Too much back and forth between screens. Developers, what happened to regression testing?? Update Aug 5, 2020. Ever since the last update, coins are not awarded for completing a puzzle pack. And I’ve searched and searched and can’t figure out who to send a request to! Crosswords are always a good way to pass the time. This game is easy and straightforward. I just wish there was a way to know if someone accepted or rejected your invite.

THIS APP WILL KILL YOU. By the time you read this, it will be far too late for me. This app is the most abysmal piece of deceitful trash I have been so unfortunate to stumble upon in all my years. Accessing friends is quite literally a functionally impossible task. Whoever developed this must’ve looked at the aggressively asinine pop-up sidebar ad market and thought “you know what this needs? A crossword puzzle.” This app molested my dog and psychologically abused my crippled sister. The developer then proceeded to create a bizarre and inoperable invite-based crossword framework from which to shove their insufferable self-advertisements on you and everyone you touch until rage tenses your muscles to the point that your trachea collapses suffocating you in your own raving spittle as you gesture profanely at the sky in insult of the progenitors of this digital landfill’s architects. This app has convinced me life is no longer worth living, I only hope my short existence may serve as a warning to others DO NOT DOWNLOAD CROSSWORDS WITH FRIENDS, for your sake, for the sake of your loved ones, be forewarned.

Needs work, bad rewards system. Although this is the best crossword game I’ve played I’m playing it less and less because you really don’t get rewarded for playing it. You have to use 10 coins to play a crossword and an additional 20 if you want it to highlight letters that are wrong, but there is hardly any way to earn coins and you get no coins for finishing a puzzle. If you finish a crossword you get stars... there’s no point in that because stars aren’t worth anything. Plus in the beginning I did not know that See Wrong costed coins and that it was automatically on so it was wasting all of my coins so now I have none. I only realized it when it turned itself off because it had burned through all of my coins and that’s a huge disappointment that you don’t make your players aware of that from the get-go. I (along with many other people) am not going to buy coins so in order to keep playing this game we need a legit way to earn coins (not that pathetic watch a 30 second video and get one coin for it thing).

Should have stayed. Not nearly as good as before the change. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!! Puzzles are geared for young players. Lots of music questions about rap and hip hop songs and artists. A big who cares for Gen Xers and Boomers. Way too many questions about The Simpsons! You seem to ignore anyone over 50 in most of the puzzles. Not really enjoyable any more! Not suitable for anyone but millennial. Most music questions deal with rap , most film questions deal with superhero fils, most TV questions deal with non network shows. And, Yokohama Ono seems to appear in every puzzle!! Really disappointing for real crossword puzzle fans! Ads are interminable. Too many Simpson’s questions and too many hip-hop and rap questions. Not for people over 30!!!!

Great Until Recent Update. I’ve been playing Crosswords With Friends since 2018. I always looked forward to the daily puzzles and weekly challenges until most of the updates in 2022. The most recent update has been the worst. The whole app seems to take forever to transition between taps now. Lately the app keeps shutting down before It finishes loading. I was playing on an ipad, but I used to also have my account on a phone, but in September the phone app started knocking me out. I’ve tried multiple installs with no luck. In order to attempt to play the three daily puzzles now, I can expect to have to restart the app at least three times as the ads tend to knock me out or the download time. I also notice that the game devours battery time on the iPad. Seeing so many reviews saying similar problems with glitches, I know it’s not only my device. I loved the game, but have uninstalled it and am looking for a new crossword game. Not wasting my time anymore.

Rips off coins and crappy support. I like the game itself; however, I realized it’s been ripping me off. If you don’t play the daily game before the next days game is added, then you have to pay 10 coins. Every once in awhile I’ll buy coins to do that. I kept thinking I was going through the coins way too fast considering I play it regularly. Today, I noticed that it deducts 30 coins for each puzzle. I played two puzzles other than the daily one and it cost me 60 coins when it should have been 20. Now I know why I went through coins so fast. I tried to go through support, but the common questions that they have listed don’t have that one. I tried to “find answer” and that didn’t work. I tried another route that gave hours to call, but no phone number. I’ve played this game for a couple years before it became “crosswords with friends”. If this doesn’t get fixed and I get some credit back, I’ll delete this and any other Zynga apps I have.

Deeply Disappointed!!!. When the game owners changed I was concerned of course and then shocked to see how much it cost for a hint and to play a previous puzzle but was pleased to see how accommodating they were to earn coins for watching ads! I hadn't had the difficulties I had read about. Well that has all changed. I barely get to watch two ads and it stops any further viewing at this time, sometimes I can't watch any and sometimes I don't get the coins. In addition I believe the clock is selective with regard to the ten minute mark although there really isn't any reason to care because rewards of any value are few and far between. I would much rather have free hints or coins than badges any day! Last, I have noticed in a couple of puzzles very recently answers that I have NEVER heard of. I admit I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to vocabulary but I'm fairly well read and to see a word that doesn't ring a bell somewhere is rare for me. Finally if the coin issue isn't resolved I will delete this game. It's very sad because I have played this daily for a very long time and enjoyed it a great deal!

7 puzzles in 6 days???. Whenever there is a weekly challenge to complete 7 puzzles, from the start there are only 6 days remaining to complete the challenge. Even though your timer is set to 7 days, it would require completing the 7th puzzle before it is even ready for play. I really wish the developers would look into this. I have been playing Crosswords With Friends for years, but have never been able to complete this kind of challenge. As of today, I have played this game for 380 days in a row! So, you know I am a loyal player, but this challenge is so frustrating, because it is impossible to complete. If I’m doing something wrong, I’d really like you to explain how this challenge is possible to complete. If you fix this or tell me how to complete the challenge, I would definitely give this app a higher review

Problems. I really dislike the new “upgrade.” I’ve had some problems, especially with the “mandatory” ads at the end of a game. Several of them will NOT allow you to close them. The only solution is to close the app and then you don’t get the tournament points for that puzzle. Also, the Simparica ad, which is shown repeatedly, causes the app to crash. I have reported it numerous times, yet nothing has been done. The only response given is a form email asking me to take a screenshot. The customer service is horrible. Generic responses, with the occasional “too bad for you.” If you ever have any problems, these people aren’t going to lift a finger to help. They’re only here for the money.

Good game. Streaks don’t work well; no ad-free option. I very much enjoy this game. They are not super difficult puzzles, and there are 3 free puzzles a day (sometimes more, if you know where to look), so it is a very playable game w/o having to spend real money. There are just a couple things it needs to be a five-star game. And the most recent update seems to have fixed one problem I had - that of turning off music/podcasts when the game loads. 1. The most frustrating thing is the way streaks work. I don’t care all that much about them, except that there are rewards for furthering them. The next day’s daily puzzles are available at 10 pm eastern. I play when I go to bed, so I *usually* complete them before midnight. However the streak resets at midnight, not 10 pm, so if I instead complete the daily puzzle the next morning, it resets my streak. The streak reset and puzzle drop should be at the same time, whatever time that happens to be. This definitely removes a star. 2. No ad-free option. I would definitely pay a one-time fee in order not to watch an ad after each puzzle. 3. The “Contact Us” section doesn’t actually have any way to contact Zynga - it only has FAQs. This is what brought it down to 3 stars.

Fun but irritating. Fixed the ad loading issue but now it takes 2 to 3 taps to activate. Second, why does it take up to30 seconds to recognize puzzle completed? Puzzle incorrect is instantaneous. You have to know that I’m within two letters of correctly finishing. Why not show a thermometer of completeness? They stopped allowing points for ads. Every other app never has a issue with displaying ads. This one can’t display more than one in a day. Can only get 5 points a day. If you make me wait 30 seconds to see ad can’t load, I should get the points anyway. Seeing ad cant load is very irritating. Fun to beat the timer but too easy to lose points. Points are too hard to get. Should get extra points if beat the best time. Watch ads should give more points and not be limited to one a day. Winning a badge should give more points than it takes to accomplish. Video not available should still give points.

Fix problems!. Have been playing for sometime but in last few days keeps shutting down, and then you have to keep buying, yesterday it shut down three times before I could finish the puzzle and tonight it shut down twice, I have bought coins several times but if it's going to start messing up I will quit playing. Last week would have give 5 stars but not now. I bought 500 coins yesterday and I have already lost 20 last night and 60 tonight because the game keeps shutting down and every time you start over it takes 20 coins, also an ad about oil keeps coming on and usually that's when it shuts down! I've enjoyed playing this game but I'm tired of losing money! On 9/8/19 I had to update before I could get on app, I did and since then I cannot get app on my I pad, I have several coins on the app that I just recently bought, need to fix problem!

Wonderful app, but still room for improvement. I like puzzles and while this crossword puzzle does seem easy, it's still "words" and that is fun. The "link" to Facebook is a BIG turnoff. No Facebook, no bonus points. Facebook wins out over getting friends to play. So it defeats the whole idea. The ads are an irritation. If you seek extra points, and watch some of the ads there often is a total failure. The ads freeze the game; one must start completely over. Promised bonus points are not awarded. Continued denial to earn points counts as seeing an ad and one ultimately loses points. When notified of the problem the response is, “we are working to make the needed improvements”. So far, 6 months, nothing is changing. Sad! The puzzle is very good, the rest, really needs improvement. Unable to go to one star. Still disappointing in terms of earning coins to play. The program to earn free coins is never available. Ads run after a game, but no rewards for putting up with the ads. Let's fix the problems. Puzzles are nice, and are difficult if one is not "up" on a lot of current tv, movies, music, and social media. I like the puzzles, it's the problems that are in need of improvement.

Crashes every time I run. After the latest upgrade, crashes every time I run. Can’t play. This game now goes to trash Can’t send request from in game since it won’t load ! Useless now Updated now but cost me my streak and 40 coins to do the puzzles I missed while the program was not functional. Not happy. No response to emails to zynga Personally I think everyone who missed playing those days should 1) be given some amount of coins to compensate for the inconvenience caused. Especially to reimburse for the puzzles we had to pay for that we missed due to the programs problems. That includes the daily puzzles and the event puzzles we had to pay for to get back to where we would have been without paying. I propose 200 coins 2) have winning streaks reimposed with 3 or 4 days added to make up for the outage (and outrage caused) What does customer service have to say about that besides the canned message applied (replied) to many of the critical posts. Yes we are important to you. But you don’t treat us as well.

New format is childish looking. I’ve been playing this game daily for several years. Just this week, they launched a new format, which is very childish looking. The clues in the purple box are hard on the eyes. The avatar that pops up when you complete a puzzle is insulting. Please bring back a more adult looking format. Also, I agree with another user who complained about the boxes at the bottom of the screen that turn on free letters, see wrong, etc. I often accidentally hit a button while typing an answer and automatically get charged those coins. You need to either move those away from the keypad or add a second layer to confirm you really want to buy those hints. I’ve lost about 200 coins over the last few years. Overall, I like the puzzles and that they are not too difficult, but I really would like a more basic, adult looking interface, like the precious format.

Petunia Pat. I really like this game. It’s somewhat challenging, but usually is entertaining. One of the reasons for the 3 star rating is that I feel you could provide more information on the amount of stars it costs to play a game. For instance, when I elect to play a game, up pops a ad that says 10 points. Well, that’s not exactly true. The games are already set up for 30 or more points and this is a bit deceiving. Why not be more open about this OR take down the 10 point sign. Just a thought. Another reason for the 3 star rating is the amount you charge for buying points. Why so much??? It’s not like I get anything for playing. Yes there’s badges, but let’s face it, I’m buying a picture of a badge. There’s no mention of names, except for the 25 or so names on the boards. I did not write this note just to complain. I really like your games. I’d also like to see your contests expanded, the coins needed to play should be reduced, and let’s face it, it takes a lot of playing to get most of the categories. I’m sorry to say that I have made my last purchase on your site. I can no longer justify the cost of your game. I also won’t write to you again. What’s the point? It’s not like you ever answer. Great game, problem with ads. Lately there have been several ads that basically lock the game on my iPhone 11 with latest OS. The exit X is placed so far up in the right corner of the screen as to be in a system are and will not close the ad. The most recent is the new Olympic ads. Very annoying to have to shut down the game completely to just play. Also the newest format change has a few bugs. Once full the back arrow no longer works to erase so you have to tap on squares to make corrections. Also currently when you answer one of the highlighted answers say horizontally while doing down answers you get the you got it right effect it seems to switch you back to across instead of continuing on down.

I have loved this game for more than five years.... It has been a daily entertainment. But now you have become greedy and made it impossible to play without paying cash for points. You initiated the watching of videos to gain points, but for three days that has not worked. You had puzzle packs that allowed getting puzzles at a lower rate,but suddenly all the packs are gone and there are no more in the store. A couple of times you have announced that there were NEW puzzle packs available, but in reality there were only one or two games left in the one pack you offered. I am good at this game, but I can not afford to pay to play, so I will be leaving and finding a better game that is not so greedy.

Rating. 4 stars. Love the game, but free earned coins format is lacking.. Still 4 stars because of the ads now lately . One or two are shown over and over. The war one repeats all the time and half the time doesn’t give you the coins or freezes. Game play stops in the midst of plat once in a while, too, which is annoying. Game hops from one part to another during play at times as well. Ads are better now. I will not buy coins. I love the free ad views for free coins, but lots are public service announcements that repeat too much. Took off ads that were just fun or gave a safe challenge or preview of how to play. Love the golf play ads. Don’t mind the ads for free points. The bonus puzzles are nice for people who are here for a great game & challenge. Lots of us just love this game! Also words with friends. All in all, still a great game and I love it. I still love both games. But lately the ads repeat over & over, time after time. Wish they would not show the same ones over & over. Best games play, however, that I’ve ever had ! Like the extra puzzle. Great game ( crosswords) Like to play individually.

No credit for ads. *** Edit 8/6/21 this app has been ‘improved’ in the past week. Update has not only bogged down the whole game.. it takes even longer to load now.. but the new graphics are juvenile. I don’t get the developers reasoning on adding cartoon directions. I don’t need a lame cartoon chick explaining how to solve crossword puzzles. Maybe the next update you can dumb it down some more… if you’ve read this far… *** I urge you to find another crossword app. You’ll be watching ads and not getting the credits earned.. been going on for a very long time. The weekly challenges most often start a day after the new week starts. You can’t complete the ones that want you to use the week’s puzzles… you’ve probably already solved the first one.. no credit again! This is at least my 3rd edit.*** Unlike many others who’ve mentioned seeing the same ad over and over, I don’t mind that... not getting credit for watching it pi$$ing me off & it has gotten old. I’ve even waited a little before closing the ad to be sure it’s done. Just wasted my time with 3 of 4 ads I watched... you’re getting your $$ for it.. I want my credits.

Rip-off trying to take your money. Was playing regularly for awhile, until I scored a ton of tournament points last week and came in first, only to find out that the winnings are capped at 300 coins. I messaged customer service and said the points page clearly says 1 tournament point = 1 coin (if you win) and I had 611 points. No mention of a cap anywhere. And I was well in the lead, but even spent 30 coins to do the double points boost, thinking it would increase my winnings, but totally wasted those coins in the end. Customer service just gave cut/paste responses and thanked me for my input, but refused to return even my 30 coins, let alone give me the coins I won. That dumb display of horrible service took all the fun out of the game, and over something so small. But Zynga is greedy and doesn’t care about scamming you to make you buy more in-app coin packages (coins are required to play any puzzle other than the daily one). The puzzles were too easy anyway, with half the clues being reused over and over in every puzzle. I deleted the app and found some better crossword games that don’t mislead the player and try to get you to spend more money with ripoff schemes.

Puzzles Fun, Coins Annoying. The puzzles are fun and don’t take long to solve - nice 5-10 minute time filler. But the coin system is very annoying. It is nearly impossible to earn coins to play puzzles beyond the one free puzzle per day. You can watch ads to earn coins, but they take a long time to get through and even when you watch several it sometimes does not always give you coins. You are supposed to be able to earn coins by signing in through Facebook, but that has not worked for me yet, either. Showing wrong answers costs a lot of coins, and you don’t earn any coins for solving puzzles quickly or perfectly. ...So I use it for the one free daily puzzle, and then I move to the one of several news publication apps, which give you lots of free, challenging puzzles with options like showing wrong letters in red, extra hints, etc., and never try to make you pay for doing the crossword.

A fun app but super buggy. Keyboard is temperamental and often puts in a different letter then the one chosen. Sending gifts is broken. Send one to a friend then it never changes from ‘gift sent’ even when they’ve opened it. Friends send me gifts and I never receive them. Too many adverts. I play the free crossword each day but it’s frustrating as hell.

As addictive as words with friends. Great little app. Seems simple but a few are hard to finish without buying credits. Less USA dominated answers would be appreciated.

Agree great but. I thoroughly enjoy this app except for its most annoying habit of using many more tokens than it says are needed. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the reduction in the number of tokens to download a puzzle. Otherwise I would recommend this app for many happy hours of entertainment.

Great but. I really like the crosswords, the ads are annoying and you use too many tokens per game. Good app marred by ads. I enjoy occasionally dipping into this app to complete a crossword. The clues are generally pretty easy crossword-wise, but there are always a few that only a US resident would know (not great for international players). Unfortunately, the latest version has gone full blown ad-crazy. Previously I would have to watch an ad between each puzzle, which was annoying enough. Today, I was hit with an ad for Visa 6 times _while_playing_the_crossword_! Suspect I won’t be back now that the ads have outweighed the fun

Good fun and addictive. Love the challenge, but too many American sportsmen, celebrities , Tv programs etc which mean you have to be able to buy more points to be able to complete the puzzle effectively if you are not American.

Get rid of the ads. I wish i could get rid of the ads like in words with friends but there doesn't seem to be a 'premium' option. So far, i am enjoying the puzzles but i'm not sure if they will become repetitive and boring. Time will tell.

Still crashing after one game. Long time player, love playing usually, but for the last couple months it just crashes after playing a game. Any time I complete a puzzle it brings up the “puzzle perfect” banner and then crashes. Also happens when I click the “profile” button. I have followed troubleshooting steps, this is a new phone, I have uninstalled and reinstalled but that still doesn’t fix it. Developers can you please fix.

Free find a word. I hold back one star due to the problem with the free find a word are too close to the letters of the alphabet and should be moved elsewhere Have had so many problems trying to play this game, keeps crashing. Very disappointed ☹️

Review. Great game to improve on knowledge and very addictive but difficult to earn coins. Puzzle packs are all the same price and doesn’t change, I think the game creators could take a look at putting some on sale or lowering the costs

More rewards. Would be five stars except for a few gripes while it's a great game, it's disappointing that coins are hard to get few and far between for rewards,coins aren't given after watching videos at times and it's mostly USA based questions.

Soo many unwanted ads! Paywalls everywhere. Time to uninstall. Have played this game for a while but the latest version is riddled with ads. There are ads on the menu screen. Ads to gain coins. This was only for extra coins before but now it’s all coins. Watch an ad for coins and you get 5! So 4x ads required for a word reveal (only really needed for the answers that are aimed at Americans that most international people would not know). Aaaaand the worst one...finish a crossword and then go to go back to the menu...that “next” button...yup, it’s actually the “show me an ad before returning to the menu button!” Thanks devs for your greed ruining what was a good daily game.

Enjoyable pastime. As an avid crossworder I love a good puzzle to help me pass the time. Mostly easy to medium easy but with the satisfaction of getting to the finishing line. Only problem is having to sign up to other apps to gain the points to for ‘clues’ and ‘ helps’ - I tried once, downloaded a game snd got to the appropriate level..... still waiting for my bonus points ...,

Enjoyable. I look forward to my daily puzzle. I suggest you move the help button which overlaps he "n" key, several times I've accidentally hit it and lost coins on a help that I didn't actually want. It's a little too America centric (especially the sport clues) for a game aimed at an international market.

Crosswords with friends. Good concept BUT I don't want a Facebook acct and therefore can't 'earn' extra coins. The rewards for completing a puzzle are minimal and therefore you run out of coin quite quickly. There should be a daily free coin allotment as there is in so many other games. I'm disappointed! Don't even get the coins for watching videos!

Enjoyable game but crashes too often. Crashes upon Launch. Enjoyable however, far too many americanised questions.

Harvey. Need an easier way to get back to a question you have not been able to answer when other answers give you letters for that unanswered question. Very frustrating aspect.

Having trouble again. I have been unable to get into the crossword as the little blue icon just spins and does nothing. I reloaded the app but that only got me one day and I still cannot get onto the actual game. Can you please fix this or I will have to delete this app....

Coin accrual. Whilst I enjoy the game I think there needs to be a reward system for finishing the puzzle. The reward can be a sliding scale based on getting it done without assistance and right first time

Frustrating!!. I have lost count of the times I have had to delete this app and then download it again before it will load to play the next puzzle. I use this app on an iPad and also on Samsung S20 mobile phone and I have the same issue on each. Each time I download the app I can open it 2-3 days then it won't reload! I guess I must like the app to persist but it is so annoying!!!

Love using it, but..... It is so easy to lose your coins! Please, pretty please, move the buttons from the bottom of the screen, or at least put in a “are you sure” option! Also, I get that you are proud of your Cruciverbalists’ history, but can you get then to not be so American-centric with their clues? There is a big wide world out there that uses the WORLD wide web!

Great game - I love it but it’s not working and hasn’t for days. The app won’t open, it freezes. A banner came up saying ‘ the environment has changed’ Please rectify as I haven’t been able to play for 5 days

Double dipping. Since when do you pay for tokens to play as well as being subjected to 30 second advertisements between games? Then there is no reward for watching this advertising. This is double dipping in my book. Tokens are also expensive, too many are used to play and rewards to earn tokens are miserly. You need to make the experience more reasonably affordable for your clients, as the incentive to continue paying is quickly waning.

Cost of each game. It says 10 coins per game but takes 30. How come?.???? Is it just because it’s Australia? Also I buy a pack and still have to pay again to play the pack I’ve bought. starting to get too expensive may have to look elsewhere I think.

Too americanised. I used to enjoy this game but I find it’s not worth playing as all the questions are based on America there are a lot of other countries that like to play who don’t know sport stars it’s a real turn off how about a few English questions Australian etc

Puzzle tockens. The puzzles are good. I like the extra random puzzles, I would prefer less number of tokens to catch up on past puzzles. There is also a bias on American sports, politics and culture questions, being Australian I struggle with Hall of Fame, team locations, players, etc. Thank you PD

Can’t access support. Hi I can only find faqs, my question is very different. When I started playing I used my married name. I left him & changed my name, wanting nothing more to do with him. I changed my name in the app. However every time I open the app it displays the original name for at least 5 seconds, then changes to the correct name. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling. Signing out & back in. This is definitely adversely affecting my game play. How can this be fixed?

Crashes constantly. I have purchased the newest and latest iPad. I love this game but it keeps crashing and is so frustrating. Every time I reboot, I have lost money because it deducts a new set of coins from my winnings or purchases. I am so over this I can only rate it poorly.... Since my last posting, there seem to have been some major improvement or updates that has stopped the problems happening, so I give full points back to this game. It is brilliant, mind working and challenging.

Good way to waste some time.. The answers are very American. So as a simple Aussie, it can make it a bit hard sometimes. Also very hard to get coins to be able to check wrong answers. But overall a good way to waste some time.

Weekly bonus. This week 7 games to be completed, I completed 1 game and not given credit so I can only complete 6 games this week. Has happened on a number of occasions. Needs fixing please

Videos not working. I have played this game for a few years. I usually watch ads to get coins as I am poor. But lately they just won’t load ... consistently. I can’t play without coins & I don’t mind doing this but this is becoming annoying. I have rebooted my iPad, deleted the app & reinstalled ... still doesn’t work

Love my daily crossword!. Finally got to 100 days in a row. Love the extra challenges along the way. My suggestion would be to add more bonuses when completing mile stones. 100 coins for 100 days is a little underwhelming and the next milestone is 200 days. We need a few more bonuses to keep it interesting. Would also love a few more Australian questions. I have no hope with American sporting trivia.

New update.. We’re not at all impressed with the latest update. You’ve changed the whole look too much. It’s much slower, the writing is smaller and harder to read, and the whole app is harder to negotiate. Please put it back the way it was, because I can’t continue playing this the way it is. Also, the app still shows a badge even after I’ve played the days game. Very confusing.

How to downgrade a good product. I assume the coders have discovered a method to un-improve their software. While I agree with trying to make improvements in any program I think your latest effort went in exactly the opposite direction OR the reviewers were sadly slack. One of my gripes - when I login and want to start my puzzle I now have to navigate more screens. Why do I have to acknowledge that I want to claim my bonus when that is the only way to proceed? Surely there could be a text box on the home page that states the bonus. Then I am given the option to play a game from the distant past to get more bonus points - bear in mind I have opened the app with the intention of playing a crossword (I just realised maybe the writers have taken the title to heart as I am now very cross). Usually at this stage the app locks up which is good as I can restart the app and don’t have to go through so much guff. Maybe the opening screen could give only two options 1 - play crossword or 2 - waste time with other stuff. It is still a good product (some stuff like who had the biggest strike outs in the 5th round of the 1963 World Series; is a tad different for an Aussie. ) but don’t loose sight of your original goal.

The Pop Up GFXs and Ads Will Drive You Insane. I love the crossword component, but the first thing you will notice is that there are SO MANY POPUP GRAPHICS. There is a helper that pops up on screen, and it gets so fruggin annoying! And she doesn't go away! Is it really necessary for her to pop up on screen when you're down to you're last answer just to say "don't give up - you're on your last answer"? I KNOW I'm on my last answer! The ads go forever and provide little-to-no reward. If there were an option to pay for a premium version of the app so I can turn this off then I would, but as such there's no ability to do that so I'm uninstalling the game.

Great crossword BUT!. Absolutely love this crossword, I play it everyday BUT! I wish the developer would make it so you don’t accidentally push the hint buttons. I lose so many from just grazing the top of the hint buttons while pushing the letters above. If the developer reads this put in a ask if you wish to continue to use this hint. Other than that keep up the good work.

Good for the ego!. My experience with Crosswords with Friends is a happy one. The clues aren’t too hard, so it’s possible to complete most games, yet there is enough of a challenge to make it worthwhile. My only criticism is the extreme American bias of the clues. Luckily we’ve all been exposed to enough U.S. news, sport and entertainment to understand you!

Makes one think. Great everyday puzzle game, with different themes. However please don’t switch “show me the wrong tiles” on automatically - I like to chose when to use my coins. Thanks !

Great game but.... Really enjoy the game but, the ads are annoying and time wasting. I realise everyone needs to make money and things are not given away without a catch but, I think with the amount of games to be played, there should be more token prizes given, and more often, as the badges mean and do nothing.

Nice quick brain workout. Pretty easy puzzles, nothing too brain challenging, or weird high-brow unused vocab, but just enough variety of topic sources to give you a 5 minute brain workout. Could be 5 stars, but far too many Americanisms like TV channels, brands and local sport celebs that are not internationally known. Also, there are more Great Lakes than just Erie, but its vowel-heavy name makes it an easy fit I guess. Lots of repeated 3-letter-words that pop up most weeks. But like I said, still enough variety to keep me interested for over 600 days so far.

Won’t open. This games has always been slow to start. But the last two days it has taken over a minute to start and today won’t open. Haven’t had to update either the phone or the app so not sure why. If I can open the app to do the puzzle tomorrow I’ll have to pay when the puzzle is the problem. 😡😡

Average. Quite an unreliable app. Always an issue loading the page even with a wifi connection

Great game. Great game but as most people are saying, the amount of tokens needed are a big excessive especially with them being difficult to get back after playing for an amount of time.

Very interesting, but incorrect coin reduction. I find this game fun and interesting, but if we were to choose a puzzle from older dates, the app suggests that it will deduct 10 coins, but it actually takes away 30 coins. Not acceptable 😡

Not opening. Since downloading the latest IOS the app won’t start. It opens, tells me to sign in and then a pop up opens saying: Error, could not log into the serve. Please try again later. This is been happening for days.

Ads covering crossword!. How is this a good thing? Placing ads that obscure the puzzle, not impressed!

GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY. The game treats me as a new player every time I play even though I have been playing for years. It’s unreliable and does not load properly. Freezes and it’s next to impossible to end the ads we are forced to watch - they get on a repeated loop. I’m less and less interested in these puzzles. The reviews shown are FIVE YEARS OLD! You can do better than this I’m sure.

Broken. This used to be one of my favourite games but now it freezes all the time, the keyboard is so slow that it takes forever to register your typed letters and the annoying scrolling ads extend into the top line of the puzzles

Puzzle packs. There have been no new puzzle packs for months, I’ve purchased & played them all. Please create new puzzle packs ASAP. I like playing this crossword game but now it’s boring with the packs.

Fix or ditch the Royal Match ads. Great game but the ads for Royal Match which occur far too often won’t close. If this isn’t fixed I will be deleting the app! EXTREMELY ANNOYING!

Terrible ads. I’m very close to deleting this app. I like the games, but the ads are very annoying. They won’t go away no matter how many ‘x’es and ‘done’s I hit, and keep taking me to a download site or webpage. Sometimes they just freeze up my iPad and I have to reboot. Also, many ads are just blatant lies that should not be allowed. I wish there was a way to report them.

Please make changes. I enjoy doing the crosswords but this game makes it too hard to earn coins, so I’m usually only able to play the daily puzzles. Also I haven’t been able to get the weekly streak rewards because for some reason it doesn’t register that I’ve played the three daily (mini, midi and full) puzzles when clearly I have. This is very annoying, please fix it!

Disappointing. I ordered a top off of one of your advertisers and paid with a credit card. I never received it and that was a year ago. Fun and Helps Exercise Your Brain. Great app. Love to play games that require a little thought instead of just luck. Would be nice if there were more ways to earn coins.

Rating. The rewards aren’t as good as they used to be. It’s ridiculous that if you don’t complete a puzzle by 10pm even though you started it before 10 you don’t get credit for it. It’s as if you didn’t do the puzzle. Day changes at midnight not 10.

2 stars only. I love the crosswords but hate all the ads. Especially the fake name ads like Clarks. Shouldn’t be allowed. They’re obviously paying to advertise on your site. You should be a bit more careful who’s money you take. Revenue doesn’t always equal good customer satisfaction.

Ads obscuring puzzle. The ads hide the top left corner of the puzzle and cannot be closed so that you lose your timing waiting for the ads to go away in order to see the words in the grids! Not good!

It won’t connect. All of a sudden it won’t connect to my server. It doesn’t even show up in my list

Not working with iOS 13. Game crashes on an iPhone XR running iOS 13. Even with the latest game update. Please fix!

Locked!. Can’t get the coins from the achievements I have finished. It says “locked”. How do I unlock?

Not as good. I’ve had this app for many years and play it consistently. As of late it has more ads for Gardenscapes than it has puzzles. After EVERY puzzle you have to watch an ad for Gardenscapes and it takes 5+ clicks to finally get out of it. It is incredibly annoying and it detracts massively from an otherwise fine app. Give us a break already.

Ads in corner of crossword. For some time I get a small ad blocking top corner of puzzle. It goes on and off, but I can’t open the ad to get rid of it. Most frustrating when I’m trying to better my times. Other than that, this is my favourite on-line crossword.

Sometimes Frustrating. I play it daily with my sister but ongoing issues with being unable to send each other gifts is beyond frustrating.

My coins disappear. I have over 1300 coins, but they only show when I’ve won coins. Otherwise they disappear, and it shows I only have 3 coins. This is very frustrating. Please fix this issue immediately.

Fix bugs please. When I try to access the Trophy portion of the app, it crashes & returns me to the opening area.It does this consistently even though I have reloaded the app twice.

App stopped loading!. I had played a puzzle a day for 1100+ days, but then the app stopped loading on a iPhone 13 with an up-to-date iOS. I tried everything including reinstate app but it still didn’t load. Very disappointing!

Update Warnings. My tablet is old and I had completed every themed puzzle since October 1, 2012. August 30, 2023 I installed the new update to cause my app to crash. Because the app doesn’t open I can’t do anything to keep my work. I love the puzzles, they are one of the ways I keep my mind sharp.

New Add On Until Monday. I have been playing this on a daily basis since the app became available. BUT I will no longer play until the add is taken down. Nothing moves in the ad and it always, always, crashes my iPad. Very frustrating so therefore I’m gone. And yes I am computer savvy.

Poor. Game frequently won’t load properly. It takes several attempts. Record keeping is abysmal. I have played everyday for over four years yet I have a streak of 5 days. Coins often are not granted.

Hate the new “daily trivia”. The new “daily trivia” (which is actually mostly just a fill in the blank word game rather than trivia) is extremely tiresome. The levels are way too short to tolerate having to watch an ad after every single one. If you made the ads pop up after every three to four trivia levels it would be tolerable, but as it is I won’t be bothering with the daily trivia…it’s too irritating.

Doesn’t work. I used to have the app and used it all the time. It got deleted when I cleaned up my phone a while back. Came back and downloaded it again but I can’t seem to get access.... I don’t have Facebook and every time I try to go in as a guest it says I’m unable to join the network?

Update this mess. Streak being reset to 1 even though I haven’t missed a day in a year. Game frequently doesn’t load properly, profile and tourney sections say ‘fetching data’ and never load, event disappears…all very annoying.

Ads covering crossword grid every 5 - 15 seconds. In the last week or so a small 2” x 2” ad appears over the crossword puzzles, thereby not allowing user to enter letters to complete crossword clues, until ad disappears. The ad pops up every 3 to 10 seconds and remains on screen for another 10 seconds or so. A crossword puzzle that may possibly take 4 to 7 or 8 minutes is now taking 10 to 14 minutes..l all wait time. Since this game is point based on the length of time it takes to complete, you have little chance to get 3 stars per game.

Hating all the ads. I’ve enjoyed playing this for years now but lately the number of ads in between games has become ridiculous. It’s gotten so bad I’m thinking of deleting the app.

Loved the game but very disappointed. I have been playing this game every day for over 2 years with no issues. The past few weeks it has been acting up. As of 2 days ago kept getting an error message saying game couldn’t load from the server. I contacted support they suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Didn’t want to do this but it was my last option. Now the app won’t even open. I’m afraid all of my 2 year progress and stats have been lost. If this ever gets fixed I would change my rating. Others are having same issue.

Couldn’t give zero. I bought a new iPad. I backed up the old one and then downloaded the backup to my new one. Everything worked perfectly EXCEPT this app. I did not have the coins I had purchased and did not get the 30+ downloaded puzzles that I had paid coins to download. I’ve been in repeated emails for about two weeks trying to get help from Zynga. What I’ve gotten are the same directions over and over that do not work. SOOO frustrating. They either don’t get it or don’t really care. I believe it’s both. DO NOT abuse this game. There are others........the are horrible to deal with.

Good & Bad. I really enjoy doing my crossword puzzles everyday! I try to get them done in time to get my 3 stars as it keeps the gray matter functioning on a good level! What I don’t like is being charged 30 coins every time I do a puzzle when the bar under the puzzles consistently says 10 coins but ALWAYS charges 30!! The other thing that is a peeve is why do I get charged to play the games that I have already been charged for to purchase????? I do feel that this is like being hit twice for the same service!! I don’t pay the waitress twice for my dinner, so why should I have to pay twice for my puzzles??? Explain these things to me please as I am sure there are other people wondering the same things as well as me!!

Rips off coins and crappy support. I like the game itself; however, I realized it’s been ripping me off. If you don’t play the daily game before the next days game is added, then you have to pay 10 coins. Every once in awhile I’ll buy coins to do that. I kept thinking I was going through the coins way too fast considering I play it regularly. Today, I noticed that it deducts 30 coins for each puzzle. I played two puzzles other than the daily one and it cost me 60 coins when it should have been 20. Now I know why I went through coins so fast. I tried to go through support, but the common questions that they have listed don’t have that one. I tried to “find answer” and that didn’t work. I tried another route that gave hours to call, but no phone number. I’ve played this game for a couple years before it became “crosswords with friends”. If this doesn’t get fixed and I get some credit back, I’ll delete this and any other Zynga apps I have.

Upgrade good and bad. I had the original version and was able to pay to remove ads completely. Then I upgraded and without knowing lost that ability. And now I have to watch an ad after every game which totally ruins the binge playing quality of this game that I enjoy. I wish they would tell us that before an upgrade and give you the option to keep the no ad thing since I did pay for it and am now being penalized by updating. Also they make you pay with coins for seeing mistakes now whereas before you got it for free. On the plus side, with the update you get a ton more coins so you can play way more games than before. While the puzzles are easy and fun, they repeat a lot of the same clues, which gets annoying sometimes.

Ad issues. Same issues a lot of people are having. About 30% of the time that I sit through a video to earn 5 coins it doesn’t add them to my balance. I just had to sit through one about the Bible and didn’t get any coins. Last straw. Come on. I don’t mind the ads as long as I get the coins. Also, about 80% of the time you can’t even try to watch an ad. It’s says it’s unavailable. Do better- this is a great game. Now I am having trouble closing most of the ads when I am finished watching them. I try hitting the x that is hidden behind my battery indicator and it won’t close. I end up having to close the program and reopen it. It makes me want to report the ad, not subscribe to it. Why make it harder to play, and put a bad taste in my mouth for whatever is being advertised? Fix it!!!

Free coins. Been playing for a long time. I also play magic puzzles. You need to let players earn coins for playing. DONT NEED BADGES. I don’t understand the point of them. I never have to buy coins on their game. I regular player should be rewarded for playing your game. And the shop of companies with points is ridiculous. I have done it a couple of time and I have never received my coins. This needs fixed. I also play Penny Dell Crosswords and you NEVER have to pay to play that game either. I like your game the best but am tired of having to pay money. This needs fixed

Too many ads, too few coins. I was excited about this game as I usually enjoy Zynga games. However, the game has too many ads and if you run out of coins you’re screwed. You have to sit through a couple 30 second or longer ads to earn enough coins for one puzzle. I had a few friends download the game which was supposed to pay me 200 coins the first time, which it did, but when my other two friends did and played a puzzle, I still didn’t receive the other 500 coins I was supposed to receive. It’s an alright game- the puzzles need to have varying levels of difficulty, which they don’t, so they’re all fairly easy to solve. I’ve since downloaded another crossword app- crossword red stone, and it’s overall a much better experience without nearly as many ads.

To buy a crossword puzzle is a bit far fetched. I was having a blast at first filling out the puzzles on my own time. Not every day. One here and there. I used the freebie coins that I would collect by watching the ads. No big deal. Then, I started to notice that more coins would be taken from my pot/bank than what was indicated. Then, I couldn’t even watch any ads to collect more coin to refill my pot/bank. Even after the most recent update. Sadly, if it isn’t fixed in the near future I will be deleting my app and finding another crossword app to utilize. I thoroughly enjoy filling out crossword puzzles but when I am forced to actually buy coin to only have the game take more than what is mentioned to play said puzzle, I am going to refrain from purchasing and supporting an app like this. Get it together.

Costs too much!. I really like the original game and have had it for three years. When it switched to With Friends I lost all my downloaded games! Three years worth! Now there is no way to get ahead with coins. It costs more- sometime 10 sometimes 20 - to play the daily puzzle! Watching ad to earn free coins, a whopping 5, only gives the coins half the time. Earning coins through Tapjoy never works. I don't get the coins, you email about it and it doesn't let you pick the right one through the drop down list, and then you get an email saying since they haven't gotten a response from you they are dropping the case! Major scam and waste of my time. I agree with other reviews about button placement. Again it's a scam! You accidentally bump the buttons when filling out the bottom row of the puzzle! More coins gone. I like this level of difficulty but am about ready to give up. Looking for another puzzle app.

Glitches and things disappear. I love this game but it glitches and then your coins are gone or like what happened to me tonight. I had 52 coins which was enough to buy a pack. I went into the puzzle packs to buy one and when I clicked on it it did nothing. I couldn’t get the purchase to go through so I went out of the game and came back in to find my 45 coins were gone but the puzzle pack wasn’t in with my purchased packs. The game glitched apparently and it took my coins and gave me nothing in return. This kind of thing happens way more often than it should. It’s so frustrating! It makes me afraid to purchase any decent amount of coins for fear my money will glitch away.

Crosswords With Friends. I really like this game and have been playing for quite awhile. The only problem I’ve been having (and I don’t know if it’s a glitch or a problem that can’t be solved), but on the watch a video to earn coins for hints it doesn’t work well anymore. It use to be I would click on the watch video tab and watch a video and get 5 coins, well now I after get the first set of coins and press the button for more it keeps giving a message that video isn’t available please try later. If you hold your finger on the button for several seconds to a minute sometimes it’ll pop up with a video and give you coins. But it’s very frustrating to have to do that. Could you please fix the watch video for coins button? Thank you

Jeff Dormond. The game has been great but over the past week or so it has been crashing after each and every completed game. It’s quite annoying and hinders tournament play by having to restart after every single game. Please fix this. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and it’s still happening. The app should not crash after every game as it never did before. Also once in i can’t click profile or it will crash......so there’s no chance to ever contact you through the game. It’s a horrible experience. Please fix this glitch. The glitch has been fixed. Thank you!!!!!!

Such a great game but too hard to earn coins. I love this game invited people and had a ton of coins to start but after using the reveal word it’s such an extreme cost of coins I ran out quickly. The advertisements to earn coins are drawn out and just not worth the extra time, not to mention most of them require you enter your email address, resulting in a lot of extra spam! I play a lot of other games and have tons of extra coins! Maybe they could come up with a way to share Coins between games or simply have a paid version! I agree with the other comments that it is more expensive than a book. Granted there are those free options but they cost too much time and time is valuable. If the coins were modified to be more Achievable, or a paid version Could be offered I would give this a five star rating because it is well developed and a nice comfortable stretch of the mind. PS I can only invite so many friends to play. So while that option is also there I have exhausted my list.

Ugh, money hungry.. Unlike the other app where it showed you wrong letters for free, and allowed you to play multiple "packs" without cost, this game is all about your wallet. You have to pay coins to see wrong letters, you have to pay coins to play more than just the daily game, you must link to fb to get coins, you must refer your friends to get coins - but those coins don't come, and you don't get rewards other than your "time to finish" and "stars." Want to play more than the daily game, and you don't have coins - we'll be prepared to be tortured with ads because you will need to watch them over and over ago, 4 ads at .5 just to see wrong answers for one game, and between 2-5 ads to play another calendar game, .45 for some packs so that's another 9 OR you can open your wallet and pay for this game. This company doesn't care about your enjoyment, they just want your cold-hard earned cash 😡💸💳

Fun but no way to earn coins.. I really like this game but I’m disappointed that they no longer allow a way to earn coins. They used to run ads for coins and other ways to earn coins. Every other crossword game I play has this feature. The only way to earn them is with special events but those take more coins than you earn. The current event is a word finding game. If you find a real word, many times it acknowledges it’s a word, but not what they are looking for. After trying several real words that wouldn’t work, I stopped playing as I’m not going to spend my coins to reveal it.

Aggravating. I love working crosswords and participate in the daily challenges, happily. What I don’t enjoy are the ads. I realize they are necessary and appreciate the ones that show briefly then allow you to close so you can get back to the puzzles. I don’t and won’t buy most of the games, but I detest the ones that won’t let you close, even after staying on screen for a minute. I have to reboot my phone to get it off the screen in order to move on. Please, can’t that be forbidden as a selling tactic. I certainly won’t download anything that is so annoying.

Love game but not enough coin to play. Love the puzzles! Makes you think and is fun to play. Only problem is that there is not enough coins to play more than one game a day. The watch ads option only gives 6 coins and you need to watch at least 2 ads to load a puzzle. Cannot use any puzzle options unless you watch more ads. There are also built in ads you cannot avoid and pay you nothing so you will waste your time ad watching. Another coin option is to purchase, which I don’t do as that is expensive. Last coin option is to “do actions”. I have done a few but never received any coins. Total waste of time and if you give personal info you know that leads to more ads in email, snail mail, and on phone.

Love Crosswords, but hate the coin system. I love doing a crossword a day, but the coin system does not make this fun for me. When I first downloaded it, I thought we would be doing a crossword with friends or something, but that's not the case. I've ran out of coins and am not paying for them just to run out again and keep putting money into this game. I try to watch commercials to earn coins but unless it's a longer commercial it will not give coins, so what's the point in those 5 second commercials if your not giving us anything to watch them. I think I'm done with this app until you get a better system. Like your other games, why can't y'all just have ads before and after a puzzle for the free version and give the option for people to pay for an ad free version and get rid of the coins all together.

Great game!. Until recently I would have given this game a 5 star review, but the company has been doing things I’m not happy with. They have challenges, such as solving a certain amount of puzzles in a certain amount of time, but after solving some, there is no indication that you even played them. This has happened numerous times. They also have an area where you can watch adds to acquire coins, but after watching the add, you’re not given the coins. If you’re willing to put up with some bait and switch tactics now and then, this app is well worth it. I’ll continue to play, just because I enjoy it.

Should have stayed. Not nearly as good as before the change. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!! Puzzles are geared for young players. Lots of music questions about rap and hip hop songs and artists. A big who cares for Gen Xers and Boomers. Way too many questions about The Simpsons! You seem to ignore anyone over 50 in most of the puzzles. Not really enjoyable any more! Not suitable for anyone but millennial. Most music questions deal with rap , most film questions deal with superhero fils, most TV questions deal with non network shows. And, Yokohama Ono seems to appear in every puzzle!! Really disappointing for real crossword puzzle fans! Ads are interminable. Too many Simpson’s questions and too many hip-hop and rap questions. Not for people over 30!!!!

Fun Game But Don’t Bother. I used to love this game but the developers don’t seem to be motivated to fix it. I started paying for it to avoid the ads but I am severely limited by the glitches. Where to start? I cannot play any game prior to November of 2012. Tech support says it’s my internet, but it’s not. Why does every other game load up just how it’s supposed to? I have great internet. There are contests to play for each week, but this week when I play it’s not adding to my games played or my score. Big deal, so I won’t get the badge. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it three times today, and now it’s not showing games I have played as played. This is only the tip of the ice berg, and tech support is useless. They “fix” a score for you but cannot fix the issue that causing it so the problems occur over and over again. Very annoying and frustrating.

Game has changed.. I use to love this app and played it everyday. I also bought coins to buy answers. When I pay money to a game I realize I will still see ads but you make me watch 30 second ads then make it difficult to close them. I have to hit done then no x to exit ad then have to hit done again. Back & forth. When I have already spent money with game. Also I just came back to play after an absence & the ‘see wrong’ button was on, I lost 20 coins. Why would it automatically be on? It really is sad that you’ve changed the way you run the game & made it aggravating rather than fun. Same opinion as before.

Provides fun daily amusement.. Crosswords With Friends provides a daily way to relax for a few minutes and get some challenging amusement. It has good puzzle themes and I like the timer and star rating system. However, I think there are issues with the app and software. I have had many problems getting credit for completed puzzles and puzzle packs toward the weekly tournament. These problems have actually caused me to stop competing in the tournament. There were many other problems also encountered when I got the notification to upgrade the software. I would do the update and then I couldn't open the puzzle app for weeks thus losing my streak and missing all of those puzzles. Puzzles are great when the software works. It is unfortunate because it could be a really nice app if it worked reliably. Until the updates and software does work smoothly and properly it is just a fun daily puzzle that doesn't really lend itself to a competitive and accurate scoring environment. I wouldn't waste my time trying to win tournaments, complete puzzle packs or try to do extra scoring as you could be wasting your time and become frustrated because the software doesn't function accurately all the time. Too bad. This could really be a great online competitive and challenging crossword puzzle app.

Stingy but okay. I really like the crossword interface of this game. The coin thing is horrible. Rather than motivate me to buy coins I just close the game in disgust. Some things should be a freebie. I watch the most annoying ads to get a few coins, but it’s never enough to get what I need. The ads just linger forcing you to click them which brings you to the App Store to buy a game you don’t want. If you change this you’ll get more stars. Update: the ad experiences have improved a bit. I do not like that ”see wrong” is automatically turned on when there are enough coins as I like the challenge without aid in the beginning. I do like that coins can be won by accomplishing goals.

Puzzle pack changes are not a good thing. Before the most recent major change puzzle packs were my favorite feature. I played them all the time. The current changes restrict my opportunities to play. I can’t see how restricting play is an advantage to the company. 1. The price of a puzzle pack used to be displayed on the selection screen. Now you have to open each pack to see the cost. 2. There used to be an unlimited number of puzzle packs to chose from. Now there are only a limited number to choose from. You can no longer page down for more puzzle packs. 3. Even after many puzzle packs are selected the pool of available packs is not refreshed. Ads: 1. Glitchy ads that lock up then give no reward. 2. Some ads have no way to mute the sound. 3. Some ads don’t suspend what you were listening to instead blare over whatever was playing making a jumble of annoying sound. 4. Some ads don’t restart the recording they suspended at the end of the ad. 5. Often (daily) I listen to the whole ad but get no reward. Please surprise me and the others who are commenting by taking action.

Enjoy Puzzles, But....... This is actually one of my favorite Apps. However, I am on a very limited income, and can not afford to purchase points. That being said, I was using the Watch Free section to maintain points. A few weeks ago, the usage of this part became very restrictive, allowing me onto be able to sometimes earn only five points. Also, I have noticed that after watching an Ad in its entirety, the points are not transferred. This happens on a frequent basis, and is very frustrating. Hopefully, you will be able to remedy that. I am also disheartened by the lack of a response after texting you. This has happened twice.

Where’s my streak and..... Where’s my streak? Over the last 3 years I’ve had countless streaks that all of a sudden disappear or drop. Yesterday I was at 102, this morning I was at 0. I played my daily game and I’m now at 59. What’s the deal? This happens all the time, it’s like you don’t want me to have a streak... I’ve played this game every morning and had over 5,000 earned coins, I’m a saver not a spender. I used to watch 9 adds everyday for additional coins. Now, ads are unavailable and I’m below 3,500. How do you contact I contact support? Where are the ads? I’m not spending money, I earn it. Since you need to use coins to play a game, they want you to spend real money not what you’ve earned. Taking a time out. Hopefully you fix somethings!!!!

New update is slow. I’m not a fan of the update. It makes everything slow and is too busy. The main issue I’m facing is the keyboard is super slow to react, so I constantly have to delete and retype, which makes my time worse. Also, like many others have said, the weekly challenge starts after day one has been completed, so you have to pay for a puzzle you already played in order to get the badge. So dumb! Like others have said, the ads freeze frequently, and the only solution is to close the app and restart it. I love the puzzles because the difficultly level is perfect, but the glitches are SUPER irritating and the app is now slow and more confusing.

Good crossword app, still has a couple issues. I like this crossword app better than majority of the other ones I’ve tried, mostly because the app is easy to use and it’s difficult without being too difficult. I’m able to play a lot of puzzles for free, either with the coins that were given or by watching a few ads, which I appreciate. The only things I don’t like are the repetitiveness of puzzles, it’s like there are a bunch of words that appear in 6/7 puzzles during a week (ex. “ewe”) which kind of bugs me because I would prefer unique puzzles at least in one week of playing. Also, I invited a friend to play, watched them use my link to download the app and play, and I didn’t get the 250 coins which bummed me out.

Rewards. Crosswords with Friends still needs some help! I love the game but I never have enough “points” to play as much as I want and I’m not going to buy packages. Can you not make playing this game as easy as Words with Friends? Also, on the Watch for Free it will say the videos aren’t available to watch - therefore no points earned but sometimes when you hold your our finger on the watch for free long enough you might get a video to watch. The other option of earning is a joke - too time consuming plus I did a couple and never got my points plus doing a survey for 1 point just doesn’t cut it. I’LL GIVE IT A FIVE IF YOU CAN MAKE THIS GAME AS SIMPLE AS WORDS WITH FRIENDS!

so annoying. as much as I love solving the crossword puzzles in this game, I CANNOT handle the constant issues with earning coins (whether watching videos/ads or completing actions). I also had solved puzzles for up to 80-something days in a row, then one day it dropped my number of days solved in a row to 40-something. the next evening when I tried to open and use the app, it would not allow me to do either and my ‘streak’ started over because of this. if this app would allow users to buy a paid version, people would be much happier. I used to spend a good amount of time playing this game each day (yes, I was wasting time watching the long, repetitive, low coin earning ads), but now that my streak has been ruined, I’ve barely been back to play since. I will NEVER EVER buy coins to play a game. once again, if crosswords with friends offered a paid version of the app, I would buy it in a heartbeat. way to screw a fun game up, guys.

Hum. The ability to earn coins is non existent so I do the watch & earn coins. The see wrong automatically comes on even tho I have it shut off in settings PLUS it’s cost is supposed to be 10 coins but it takes away 20. I rarely need to see wrong but when I do get stuck I have no coins to use. Very irritating. If you want to force users to buy coins then go ahead. I will never buy them. I’ve been playing for a couple years & enjoy the puzzles but truly hate the fact that the developers are deliberately misleading players. I am sure there are plenty of folks willing to buy coins to give you a profit but even if I were inclined to buy I certainly wouldn’t now because of the way y’all are cheating us out of the coins we have

Bugs👎🏻. UPDATE: I’m changing my review to one star. The reason for this is there are too many bugs in this app now. It takes forever to load. When it finally does load, it takes forever to get from one screen to the next. The last time I played, it completely froze my phone. I have since removed the app from my phone. I really enjoy this game, but I can’t take the frustration of the speed and the bugs. OG (3-Stars): I’ve been playing this game for several years. I enjoy doing the daily themed crossword puzzle. However I have been getting really frustrated because, like other reviewers have said, the game no longer consistently rewards you five coins for watching an ad. I’ve spent money to have coins, but at this time I can’t afford to spend money for coins so I rely on watching ads. Which doesn’t work right. Please fix this issue.

Crosswords with Friends. Love this crossword game! Challenging but not too difficult! I am learning some interesting facts as I play! I play this game every day! If you try it, you will love it also! Never gets boring! One of the easiest ways to have an excellent source for new crossword puzzles! So fun! I look forward to a new puzzle each morning! Awesome fun! I am really on this everyday! Recent flopping. I’ve been enjoying these puzzles for years and over the past couple weeks, I’ve found that if I do not complete the puzzle within a certain number of minutes (usually less than 10) the puzzle would go blank/disappear and I would have to restart it again. After three restarts, it’s very frustrating and I do not want to use my saved point to complete the puzzle which I am guessing is what they are trying to get me to do. Also, since I play late at night, I have lost my 28 or more day in a row of consecutive plays as I could not complete due to shut downs. I don’t know what is going on with the program and it just allowed me to update and now I can’t get in the puzzles at all. You really need to perform some BIG fixes. I’m ready to discontinue altogether. Also when I try to get coins, watch the video, no coins given!

Crossword puzzles. It is a great app for your iPhone if you enjoy doing crossword puzzles; the amount of difficulty varies from one puzzle to another.. The big challenge is getting it solved before other people have of your friends and family, and it is much easier to use as far as controlling which clues you get and filling in your answers to the questions of the puzzle as well as compared to other crossword puzzle apps. It also gives you the choice of seeing your wrong answers if you purchase the coins or watch advertisements for coins it is your choice on that part of the puzzles The biggest challenge is getting your friends involved in the challenge of the puzzle.

Fun puzzles, lame coin system. I love having puzzles to do, but my main complaints are about the coins and when the new puzzles come out. I live in the Western part of the US and sometimes I don't get a chance to play my puzzle until later at night. Say it's Monday night but 9 pm and now I have to pay extra coins to play Monday's puzzle because now Tuesday's puzzle is available? No! It's still Monday. Don't charge me coins. And I HATE earning new coins. It's a ridiculous system. There is no "with friends". I'm playing by myself. And if it's related to Words With Friends, I should be able to use my WWF coins (of which you earn coins for winning games and it's waaaay easier to earn coins there, so I have a TON) to play CWF. Otherwise, the puzzles are fun and I like that part. But I'm so annoyed by the coins that I'm probably going to end up deleting the app soon.

Not sure about new look.. I have been playing this puzzle for a long time. Recently the formats have changed…but they don’t seem as intuitive…or obvious as they used to be. For instance , when I believe I have finished a puzzle IF there is an incorrect letter, I no longer get a message…so I sit waiting for something to tell me that I have a word misspelled. Of course then I have to “ spend” earned coins to find out…but I wish that notification came to me immediately. Also I really don’t understand the new prompts for games…maybe it will become more clear…but right now it seems as if it is just a way to make someone “ buy” or “ spend” coins/ money.

Fix the technical issues/glitches. I've written twice because my friends are dropped for no reason at all. One day they are present and then Poof... they are not! Why don't you fix those glitches? One of the answers/options to rectify the problem was that I needed to open the app on another device. I don't have another device! Many of us don't. I never ran into these issues with the older app - this new app is so full of glitches... It's beyond ridiculous. Then when you want some sound technical assistance it is not available. I hope you keep working on it developers... this app has yet to fulfill a standard to make it worthy of a higher rating in its present state. It's called CROSSWORD WITH FRIENDS... How can I play with my friends if they magically disappear from my leaderboard? Thank you.

Flooded with telemarketing calls. This may be coincidental but when setting this app up, it asked for a contact number. Within a couple hours and continuing through the next day or so I received a dozen or more telemarketing calls and voicemails on that number. Thankfully I used a burner number that I use for apps like these and I just burned the number. How annoying if Zynga sold my number immediately to some telemarketing company. Second, the tutorial avatar Zoey is really busty, perhaps appealing to the young male demographic? Like unnecessarily busty. The tutorial is also annoying and unnecessary - it’s for people who have never done a crossword?! Doesn’t give me any confidence in the quality of the puzzles. I’m sticking with NY Times. The colors and Zoey might appeal to kids, but I hope they don’t use their real number or your real number to sign up. I feel like a sucker.

Revised Review. I enjoy this game and play it daily. You earn coins every day but can only earn extras like “Show Wrong” with special events and then only if you complete the entire special event. So these extras are pretty important. I have lost two “Show Wrong”s in the last few weeks (and at least 2 more since playing this game) because I have accidentally hit the button!! 😡😡😡 This NEVER happens with the other extras....NEVER......only with the hardest one to earn. Very frustrating!! PLEASE change the location of this button or make it harder to accidentally “push” this option. With this change it would be a 5 star game. Had to reload this game because it wouldn’t open and now have lost all my game history and bonuses. 😡😡😡😡😡

My go to game to relax and learn. Whenever I have an moment to sit and relax or need to past the time I open the crossword app. Not the arcade game that will amp me up! When doing the crosswords if I come across something I don’t know the answer to I look it up. It’s not cheating it’s learning moment and I’ve got it for the next time. The only down side is the limit they put on adding extra points to play more games or quiet frequently there are no ads available to grab some extra points so you can play a few more games. Even if they increased the points from 5 to 10 points would help tremendously as that is the price of a game. I’m just putting that out there game hosts!! Gatermom97

Crosswords. I like crosswords a lot. What I don’t like is when you say I’ve won coins and then the number, they don’t show up. In other words, I still have the same number I had. Who got them? Where do they go? Sometimes even though I watch the ads to earn more coins they aren’t given to me. The reason I need coins is that I don’t know the movies and the stars because I don’t see films very often. Again! I’ve watched your ads so many times and you don’t give me the coins I earn! You also take them away for no reason after I’ve earned a few extra! I don’t think you ever read these or try to correct the problems! AND when you ask us to make words, don’t tell me they aren’t words when I KNOW they are!

Love it.... I genuinely enjoy playing this game. However, I removed a star because I find the ads annoying. They pop up after every single puzzle and there is no way to remove them. I also don’t understand the point of earning our badges if we are unable to choose which badge we would like to represent. I would like to see more from this app with improvements for better gameplay and bug fixes. I would also like to see something along the lines of challenging friends to see who can solve a puzzle the fastest (or something like that). It is called Crosswords with Friends.... Anyway, the game itself is just relaxing for me. I have always loved solving crosswords and now I can do them whenever thanks to this app. Enjoy!

Love it but.... I love this game! It’s a fun app to do daily crossword puzzles on. The only problem for me is the “see wrong” feature. Firstly, when I started the game, I had no idea that having this feature on would cost me so many coins each puzzle. Also, now that I have it consistently off, I will sometimes accidentally hit this button at the bottom and it immediately flips on and takes my coins! Is there any way an “are you sure?” Option or something could be added, or that the “see wrong” feature could be in a different location (like the settings on a different page)? It’s really annoying to keep losing coins for a feature I don’t like to use!!

Gail. I hate the tabs on the bottom for "see 10 letters" and "see wrong." Very often I accidentally bump the bottom of my tablet and it automatically charges me 20 coins and shows me 10 letters or shows me my wrong answers because I'm using my tablet in bed and laying it on a pillow or blanket. It would make more sense to put those tabs on the top where they wouldn't get bumped as easily and also have a safeguard that asks "Are you sure you want to spend 20 coins to see 10 letters (or see wrong answers)." Because the way it is it ruins the fun for me because I like to try to answer all of the questions by myself without any help from the computer and it is always by accident that it cost me 20 coins in ruins my fun for the puzzle. I hope they make this correction soon.

FUN UNTIL NO COINS!!!. I've enjoyed playing this game but I agree with other reviews! The COIN situation is strange, to say the least! I have watched the entire video and never got the points. I have completed surveys and downloaded games and played them to the level as instructed but still no Points. Points should be Earned for Puzzle Completion. Also, you should not have to use 20 Coins to See Wrong Answers. That's 4 Videos you must complete and hope that they redeem the 5 Points Each. The Game is Great but the Coins to play needs to be changed, reworked or trashed! If you go to your Profile, then Help. It will take you to next screen. It will have "Contact Us", hit it and the next screen gives you the option to "email them". I hope they fix this coin issue because I love to play!

Updates lag. My scores do not automatically update unless I turn off my phone and restart the game. I enjoy the games very much but it also doesn’t display all the badges. My friend has extra badges besides the weekly ones (11) that are not displayed. The latest Tubman badge is not displayed and 10 others. Also the first few words after midnight Sunday night do not get counted in game points. Possibly for 5-10 minutes. And of course the major problem I have is the goal increase from hundreds to more than 1000. It varies every week. I would like to know how to get it reduced other than not playing much for TWO weeks. One week without reaching the goal my goal was RAISED more than 1000.

Horrible update again and again. Took almost all of my coins. Have played for years. Even before it was With Friends. Now every time I play, the coins are deleted. Apparently the setting Show Mistakes was on and stays on from puzzle to puzzle. I never use this setting. I may have accidentally hit it on a puzzle and assumed after that puzzle it goes off. It didn’t. I had 107 coins; now I have 7. Since this was taken over from Celebrity Crosswords, Zynga has done Zynga tricks. So sorry I invested so many years in this. Previous Review: Updates back to back have not fixed anything. It just attempts to push bad reviews down the list. Now the app still is not at all user friendly. And the app quits in the middle of solving the puzzle EVERY time. Why? Nothing was wrong with the old version. I used to enjoy my puzzle every day. Now I just dread it.
