ARP ODYSSEi App Description & Overview

What is arp odyssei app? The legendary ARP sound, exquisitely reproduced in software.
ARP ODYSSEi - A mobile analog synthesizer for iOS.

The ARP Odyssey of 1972 has earned an unshakable position as a classic analog synthesizer. In 2015, KORG produced the ARP ODYSSEY, a complete reproduction of the original. The ARP genes that shook the worldwide music scene are being passed on, and its history continues.

The next platform for the ARP ODYSSEY is iOS. We want the unforgettable ARP sound to be easily available on a device that as many as possible of today's players can obtain; this resulted in the "ARP ODYSSEi" app for iPad / iPhone. Based on the revived ARP ODYSSEY, we used KORG's proprietary CMT circuit modeling technology to reproduce the analog feeling and sound of the original as closely as possible. We've also given it numerous enhancements that are possible only with software, such as long-awaited polyphony and built-in effects.

The real analog ARP ODYSSEY, and now the uniquely evolved ARP ODYSSEi, brings the universal fascination and inimitable sound to every device.

* Due to differences in CPU speed of iPads / iPhones, iPad 3rd gen/2/iPad mini/iPhone 4s are not supported, only iPad Air/iPhone 5s or later is recommended.

[ Features ]

- Faithfully models the circuit of the ARP ODYSSEY: The circuitry has been reproduced using KORG's proprietary CMT (Component Modeling Technology), developed over the years starting with the KORG Legacy Collection.

- New functions to create all-new ARP sounds: Added a voice assign mode that allows you to play chords, an arpeggiator that can be programmed in detail like a step sequencer, and effects that can transform the sound in diverse ways.

- Get all three of the sought-after revisions: In addition to the standard design of the Rev3 with its black panel and orange silk-screening, you can optionally obtain the white-paneled Rev1 and the black-paneled gold silk-screened Rev2 designs, together with fifty new preset sounds that take advantage of the distinctive filters of those models.

- Produce music together with KORG Gadget: ARP ODYSSEi can be used in conjunction with the "KORG Gadget" music production DAW app that has won numerous awards around the world. If both apps are installed, it can be used as the "Lexington" gadget inside the KORG Gadget app.

One of my favorites. This is one of my favorite iOS synths to use in my music. My only wish is that it could also be loaded up as an audio unit as well. But inter-app audio will do for now.

NO AUv3 = crippled app. I’m baffled that so much love could go into a sound engine without making it accessible to a standard being used by all the contemporary hosting apps on iPad. Begging you for comparability KORG!

Excellent!. The big selling points for this app, as far as my needs go are- a) it’s polyphonic, up to 8 notes, b) there’s a multi-step sequencer that’s easy to use, c) you can tailor the ADSR envelope of notes to your liking, d) it has 250 presets, e) although indeterminate at the time of my purchase, it hooks up to my Akai Synthstation 49, and allows me to play the instrument on a physical keyboard, instead of on the tiny keys the app displays on the iPad screen, and f) also indeterminate at the time of purchase, it can be used as an instrument, through Inter-App Audio (NOT AUV3), in GarageBand. Plus, why buy a $4000 physical instrument, when this does exactly the same thing?

Simply Amazing. I bought this synth many years ago when it first launched and I wasn’t into synths very much yet. Fast forward 5 years and I have bought over 15 synths from vintage analog to new hybrid. This version of the Odyssey keeps up with the best of my real life synths. Not only does it sound great, but also has multi-voice polyphony, incredibly real sounding filters, and effects modules that further make this synth one of the most versatile I’ve ever used. Running my iPad’s output into my audio interface and an analog outboard sweetener makes this synth indispensable for creative noodling to recording. I’m glad I pulled the trigger on this so long ago, because this synth is easily one of my favorite virtual synths ever made.

Thank you KORG. Edit: My iPhone suffered from a weird glitch that made my passcode not work with my phone. I thought I had lost all my presets, but luckily KORG enabled auto cloud sync. Thank you a million times over to the devs, you saved hours upon hours of my work. Old: Sounds absolutely amazing! Thanks to the devs at KORG for this incredible recreation. I would really like to see the arpeggiator implemented inside the Lexington gadget, though, because it is really powerful. Definitely one of my favorite parts about this recreation.

Please update to fit new iPad screens!. Need to resize the UI to fit new iPad pros and airs! Don’t like how the ends of the screen are cut off and doesn’t make use of the screen real estate! Simple fix that y’all need to implement. Gadget has been resized, why not your other apps? It sounds amazing and just needs a UI change.

My go-to for iOS synth solos. Cuts through the mix better than most others.

This synth feels like coming home 👍. I never got to experience the Odyssey when it was originally released. I wasn't born for another couple of years and had only just started exploring music in elementary school when it stopped being produced. Having grown up listening to this synth being played and utilized by virtually every electronic artist I was discovering at the time, this app is a real gift! I literally lose hours grinning from ear to ear, thoroughly enjoying every aspect of this wonderful synth- thank you very much for making a giant of my youth available again!

Excellent, but problematic. I have just purchased ODYSSEi, and for the most part, really like it. It's more like a true analog synth, with respect to programming, than most of my other iOS synth apps. This doesn't make it one of my favorite apps, but in terms of workflow, it's pretty analog. I am not hugely enamored with most of the stock sounds, but in a matter of a few minutes, I was able to tweak a few to my liking. What I find odd is that in hardware, Korg is truly one of my favorites, but I find this to be far from true in the iOS Korg app world. Inside of Gadget, ODYSSEi runs under a different name, and appears to underwhelm, severely. First of all, user edits in ODYSSEi don't show up when it's opened up in Gadget, which makes it almost useless for me, with respect to Gadget. Secondly, almost all the arps don't work when the app is opened up in Gadget. What a bummer, Korg!

Best iOS Synth by a mile in 2021. It took me forever to buy this, and I’m honestly shocked to say it is easily the most powerful synth I have in my collection, including the Model 15. Sorry Moog. You would never know what a beast this is just by looking at it. The modulation and effects options on this really make it astonishingly flexible, particularly the sequencer. This thing can do it all, and can control nearly any parameter. You can combine and break the modulation pathways with just as much freedom as with a modular. Smartest design ever. The synth itself sounds absolutely amazing, and the fact that you can choose a universal tuning setting (mine will be forever set to the beautifully unstable analog setting) is such a plus. There’s a great collection of filters and effects, and if you really analyze the presets you will quickly see you can do pretty much anything you want with it. I do wish it had midi learn within the app. I was able to program the cc numbers into my launchkey 61, so it is fine, but that was rather tedious. Absolutely worth doing though. So this is a genuine fully fledged virtual analog instrument that I wish I bought years ago. If I could only have one, this would be it. This could be my only drum machine too. Don’t miss out on it any longer.

AUv3 Please 😭. Sorry but I don’t use Gadget and never will. It just doesn’t work for me. But your stand-alone synths are awesome and need to be AUv3! Needs to be AUv3!

Y’all gonna AUv3 this library of toy apps or like whadup?. Korg, there are independent players that do a better job of designing apps on iOS than you do - honestly this is kind of embarrassing. I love these apps but it’s 2024 practically - ain’t no way I’m not gonna complain about the obsolete state of audio transmission that these substantially expensive apps have. Sorry, but if you’re looking for a serious synth this is probably not the best one to start with - unless you really want this specific korg model. No AUv3 support = not a serious app for musicians. Sorry, but it’s literally the truth.

Too good a synth not to be coded AUv3. One of the best emulations out there. It’s time to make it compatible with the new DAWs coming on line that are turning iPad into serious music recording/production equipment.

Terrible on iPhone 12.. They don’t even use the whole display! It’s 2022 and they still are inferior quality.

Great sounding synth. Now release it for OS X!. This synth sounds really fantastic! I hope you will consider releasing it for desktop and laptop Macs next. I would also like to see a MIDI matrix modulation panel added. Also it is hard to see some of the controls since they are black on a black background. Please consider updating the color scheme slightly.

best ipad synth, & i have them all. my band uses this on several songs live and in studio. nuff said

Great sound but gadget is lacking. Great sound but can’t use in GarageBand unless there is a sequencer or complete gadget integration. Come on guys, we paid for this

Good but can be a little inconvenient. It’s a great synthesizer but after owning for awhile I do have a few complaints. First is that you can’t set the keyboard to play different scales on the iPad version, however you can do this on the iPhone version. It’s not that much easier to play scales on an iPad than it is on an iPhone. Both versions should include this feature. Also setting the tempo on this thing is so tedious. There should really be a text box where you can punch in the tempo you want without having to use the arrows. I would rate five stars but these two oversights have caused me so much frustration that I refuse to give this a good rating until they're fixed.

Home sweet home. If you are an old and wizened synth-head, this is a bargain to get your old familiar tool in the palm of your hand. If you're a kid who missed it, it's a bargain to find out why we're so attached to these old beasts. no brained, you need this.

need some more functions. Still waiting for MIDI Learn function

As an Original Odyssey Owner.... I owned an original, whiteface, v1 ARP Odyssey back in 1972. I am here to tell you that this thing ROCKS!!! Sound is authentic, and the added features make it the Odyssey I would have killed-for back in the day. Could there be improvements? Sure; but there is a hella lot of spectacular-sounding music to be made with this little App. Great job, Korg!!!

Missing features other Korg iOS apps have. I enjoy this synthesizer and the upgrades from the hardware version like polyphony, arpeggiator, effects but it is missing features other Korg iOS synths have and therefore seems incomplete compared to their other iOS releases. Features missing from Odyssei but present on other Korg iOS synths like iMS20, iPolysix, etc: -sequencer, song, pattern features -in-app audio recorder -drum machine (with percussion sounds synthesized from independent synth engine per track, each identical to the main synthesizer engine) -WiST-compatibility Please fix this Korg and this would be a 5-star Software Synthesizer!

very accurate. funny to read reviews complaining about how finicky the controls are in this app. obviously these folks never played with a real® arp odyssey. the real synth was one of the most painful devices to manipulate. its sliders were awful crude controls. it also had no program memory so recreating a sound if you'd stumbled upon something cool was next to impossible. having its fabulous sounds in such a easily programmable interface is a big win. (it is better on an ipad.) kudos to korg for recreating this old synth. also nostalgia.

No MIDI Learn Capability?. I find this app to sound really great, but I am beyond disappointed that this app does not have MIDI learn capability. IT IS 2019!!! Sound quality is sort of nullified by the fact that a fundamental piece of the ODDYSSEi puzzle is missing. How is it even possible that an app like this could be so expensive, when it lacks one of the simplest, yet most important features of musical performance? For the sound quality, I have given a bonus star, but this really is no more than a 1 star app without MIDI learn or even a mention of CC signals or channels in the manual (I read the manual cover to cover last night). I have many of the other apps and 4 hardware instruments made by KORG, so it is obvious that I am a fan, but this is just unacceptable. Get your act together, KORG! You are better than this.

Please add AUv3 support. Great sound and faithful recreation of an iconic early synth. Add AUv3 support and it’s a 5 star app all day

Amazing synth - needs AUv3. This synth sounds amazing and is a delight to play, It’s becoming a core instrument for me. I’d give 5 stars but I would like to be able to use this app into the future, and the future of iOS music is Audio Units, not IAA - Korg, please update with auv3 capacity! Otherwise we will all miss out on the many ways to incorporate this into a full iOS setup.

Great sound. Sounds great, a lot of depth to dive into parameters and tweaks. Plenty of ways to customize on the presets or start from scratch to build your own sounds.

FANTASTIC, But…. The ARP Odyssey was my first synth, back in 1978. As someone who had the original hardware, and used it for many years, I can report that this thing sounds great. All the switches and sliders do what they’re supposed to, and the bits that KORG added (effects & sequencer) are fabulous. But there are some serious problems, which I have requested fixes for, and have never been addressed. #1: the EQUAL/ANALOG switch. This has no business being there at all; all the ANALOG setting does is simulate an out-of-calibration Odyssey. This is not “the unique character of the Odyssey”, it’s a flaw, which I spent considerable $$ to keep in adjustment while I had my Odyssey. In itself, this is not a problem; I just leave that switch on EQUAL. But that switch does not exist in the Lexington gadget, and it is locked into the ANALOG mode, with the result that any 2-oscillator sounds are progressively more out of tune the further you get from the center of the keyboard. #2: NO MIDI Program change capability. #3 NO AUv3 capability. If this stuff ever gets fixed, I’ll change my rating to 5 stars immediately. In the meantime I’ll try to make do. It still sounds fantastic…

Great but issues that should be fixed a long time ago. Great for the most part although it crashes when trying to import user presets, that should have been fixed by now, seems like a Korg is in no hurry to get rid of bugs. But further more, I’ve pretty much bought everything Korg has made for IOS minus ikaossilator IELECTRIBE Gorillaz edition, and IDS 10 ( I may get the IDS10 at some point....maybe). But.....Korg really needs to look into porting their apps to Audio Unit, because at some point I’m going to stop buying music apps that don’t support AUV3. I don’t buy stand along apps that don’t have plug in versions on my Mac and I’m slowly but surely heading in that direction on my Ipad.

Audio unit please. Please make this app an audio unit!

Great option if you are looking for a great synth replica!. Has great features and much much more. I recommend plugging in a keyboard but you can use the arpeggiator or the x and y axis grid for some real fun either way! I have the real odyssey too and it’s true to its name! Masterpiece of software!

Happy with it, especially at /$15 sale price!. Get it while it's cheap/!

AUv3 Support Needed. Love the sound of the ARP ODYSSEi with it’s faithful re-creation of the ARP SEQUENCER but it’s high time KORG gives this beauty AUv3 support so we can plug it into a real DAW.

A mountain of Sound conveniently mobile. I play the bass so I’ve got an ear for a really good sounding bass …this particular device gives me a lot to choose from …as far as different tones and I don’t get calluses on my fingers I love it ha ha ha ha I just love it

Amazing!!. I grew up with lots of classic rock, so having an affordable version of an ARP is awesome! It's great for 70s classic rock songs like Frankenstein or Tom Sawyer, Fly Like An Eagle, etc etc... I can see it working well for other genres too! One suggestion... please add MIDI learn!

Great sound…. Awesome sounding app but crashes sometimes & we really need Auv3 support!

Great way to learn about and play on a vintage synth. So I’ve had this app for about 3 months maybe, and I found It really frustrating at first, but a few online tutorials and many hours of experimentation later I got the hang of things. I know this app could be slightly better in how it plays with other apps, but earlier today when I was in samash I was able to walk up to the Karp odyssey they had as a floor model and I was able to dial in some cool patches and make a full analogue synth sound great all from studying only the app version. In my opinion that deserves 5 stars.

Beautiful sounding IOS synth.. It’s still early days , but of all the IOS synths I own this one sounds the best.

No midi map, no Auv, no precise settings. cannot numerically dial in controls, have to try to get the number you need sliding little dials on screen. Nice sounds, but worthless if you operate in AUM or actually hope to program it, and not just call up presets. One of my worst purchases.

Awesome. Got an iTunes card and this was the first thing I thought of to buy

Pitch does not track correctly in Gadget. Latest update adds "Equal" tuning in settings, which does correct the issue of pitch not tracking the keyboard correctly. Unfortunately, there is no way to set this when used as a synth from within Gadget; it uses its "Analog" tuning setting, which sounds badly out of tune. Really hope KORG fixes this so it's usable in Gadget, because otherwise it's an incredible synth.

Sounds just like the original!. I owned the original white ARP Odyssey for many years and I kept the "Perform! on the ARP Odyssey Synthesizer" with Roger Powell book of patches and I've added these patches to my ODYSSEi and they sound exactly as I remember them. All of the settings are true to the original. This app is so realistic that I bought a 12.9" iPad Pro just so that the interface could be almost as big as the original. I also purchased the Rev 1 skin and program pack just so that I could have the white interface that I remember owning. It is so awesome to have an ARP Odyssey again. You won't be disappointed.

Great sounds but needs more. This is a very good app, with tons of sounds and lots of control. The only problem is the Gadget doesn't have the original arpeggiator that makes some presets sound great, and I want to use it in songs within extra routing. Also, is there a solution for the silence if used with Audiobus and GarageBand? Either way, definitely a must, and you should check it out if it goes cheap. Also got the in-app purchased and they're good too. If you're wondering if you're going to pick between this and Module, get this first. Let's hope they update this with more presets like Gadget!

Needs an update. Still sounds cool. I pray for audio units each night before bed.. Tempo control is tough on this because you only have one way... the apps way. Please add link or external tempo control! The more I use gadget and this synth I realize that korg needs to get on the audio unit bandwagon because I hate how taxing gadget can get when you really stack things up. They need to implement track freezing in that too! It would be great wouldn’t it. 🤪 As far as my review for this synth goes, it’s got awesome arpeggios and oscillators, but all the cool stuff is in the apps presets that sadly don’t get included in the gadget presets. Pick up an arpeggiator app like StepPolyArp or Rozeta sequencer suite and Aum until midi clock in is supported!

Midi Learn and patch import please. App sounds great. Would be very helpful to be able to assign MIDI cc’s. It would also be great to be able to import and export patches so that users can share their sounds. Both these capabilities are very standard on most iOS synths, and it’s a shame that one of the most authentic sounding synth apps on the market doesn’t offer either.

NO AUv3 SUPPORT. Come on Korg this is ridiculous!!!! It’s been how many years now? I deleted Gadget because this. Gadget was born on iOS yet you give the flexibility to desktop only. I never bought the desktop version because of your shady business dealings on iOS. I spent over $200 on your iOS products. To access gadgets on desktop, to put in your personal daw, is $200. Over it.

Great sound, but not AUv3. Great sounding synth with sequencer for live use, but it’s not AUv3, which would allow me to record Midi into my favorite iOS Daw. It’s InterApp Audio though. Love the sequencer, great for lead sounds.

Awesome sound, but MIDI Sync... 😬. Love this synth; love the sound and the controllability. The MIDI implementation leaves a bit to be desired though. I use IDAM to use the app within Logic X. Without the ability to externally Sync MIDI in the app, I can’t use any of the built in Tempo sync options. I have to use the Modulator MIDI effect in Logic as an LFO as well as Logic’s arpeggiator and that tends to get pretty tedious.

Excellent recreation of the original. I just bought this for use on my iPad Pro, and I love it. If you want the sound of an Odyssey, but can’t afford a vintage one, or a KORG reissue. This is your best alternative. Thanks again KORG !🤓

Please add auv3 support. Yet again another great Korg app. Just needs auv3 support now after IOS 13 update.

MIDI not fully implemented. External MIDI input not working. Don't waste your money.

Gadget addict needs arpeggiator.. Four stars until the arpeggiator starts working in Gadget. Other than that, truly awesome app. As close as you can get to the original I would think. Don't know why people put up stupid reviews complaining about their own MIDI setups though. Check your gear before blaming the app. Mine works great with all my midi gear.

No AUV3. Are you kidding me!

Great start, but needs Audio Unit Extensions. This app is fun to use and works with the Kong gadget app. It is a massive pity you can not use it with GarageBand like other apps. The Audio Unit Extensions should be included for the price.

Is this my new go-to Synth? Probably.. I had a friend in London with an absolute arsenal of vintage synths and drum machines in his Studio. The standout being an original whiteface Arp Odyssey. It was instant transport back to the sounds and mood of early Ultravox and Gary Numan. Both huge inspirations growing up. I have been gearing up to purchase the Korg tabletop module then I heard a rumour of fullsize keys. So I put the brakes on the purchase. As soon as this version appeared I was straight in to it. Now after settling in with this fantastic iOS app I a truly confounded. KORG have become the new Roland! They keep doing it right and in spades! I would love to have a dedicated controller for this wee beastie.

Needs midi. Great emulation of this classic synth but cmon, no midi functionality?..!,!

Great sound but lack of basic capabilities kill the app. Unfortunately the app doesn’t get used due to lack of basic Midi functionality. No Midi program changes, no assignable Midi cc or Midi learn or Midi clock sync in. These omission along deem the app useless as a professional performance synth. Sharing or exporting sounds is also a basic function of iOS synth apps. Purchased a new iPad Pro and cannot get my programmed sounds from the old iPad Air 2 to my new one.

It could be so much better.... Such potential, yet missing some of the key features to become a real live instrument: -No midi learn function? Comon Korg, it's almost 2017 we need this in your iOS apps.... -No double tap to return value to default. That is one of the main annoyance I've also found. Other than that the app is amazing, the sound is good and the recreates the real ARP feeling.

Funny reviews. Incredible sounds. Incredible controls. Amazing interface. Another winner from these guys. I just read a review saying the app is great but only worth 3 stars because no midi learn and no double tap to return setting to default. So that genius has to rate every other app as 1 star. You don’t take off a star for every feature you want. The idea is to rate so others can know if the app is good or not. Its not about a way to communicate features that you want. If everyone did what you do then even the best apps would have lousy ratings. If you have a complaint then send email to the developer, don’t screw up the ratings as a way to get features.

Perfect. Absolutely amazing recreation of a classic. Sounds great and the added features are welcome. For the nerds: this time around, Korg modelled oscillator drift (missing from iMS-20) and capacitor discharge (missing from iPolysix). This is their best virtual analogue synth yet IMO. Update: They seem to have addressed the oscillator drift. It's good to have the option but to all those who complained, analog synths don't stay perfectly in tune!

Amazing synth, needs to be AUv3. In my opinion, this is the best sounding synth on the app store. Its audio quality is top tier. However, to be able to use it in my DAWs of choice, it needs to be AUv3, since Inter-App Audio is outdated and doesn't provide a great user experience. Korg, Odyssei is amazing and deserves to be updated. PLEASE update it to AUv3. Regards,

Update to AUv3…Please!. Im happy that such great sounding apps exist for iOS from a reputable company like Korg. But Imo, it’s disrespectful to their customers to still charge a premium for these instruments while apparently refusing to update them to AUv3. They should at least be more upfront about this in the product description at this point.

Great sound!. Great sound but no way of recording or sharing your creations?! What gives?!!!

Ableton link. This needs Ableton link also I need to be able to use the arpegator inside Gadget and be able to access my saved user settings.

Sounds like the real thing. No really, it does. I have the hardware (Korg desktop module) and they totally nailed the emulation. Here’s hoping they make an ARP 2600 plugin next!

Go get it. With the option to switch between mono and poly, ASDR controls, LFO modulation on 2 oscillators with six built in effects in addition to the five channel inserts, you can get very sophisticated sounds. With the duophonic feature and a little portamento you can get some wild techno-trance sounding polyrhythmic sounds from outer-space. Odyssei is very similar to the Cubasis Micrologue. Odyssei is very easy on the eyes and gives the listener instant gratification in abundance!

Super. Sons très professionnels.

Amazingly playable. Never played the real O but sounds very much like the real one reviewed by SonicLabs on YouTube. A must buy!

Hmmmmmm🫤. 😑Really Korg 😒 so please someone explain to me exactly why this is not auv3 yet 😔

awesome. It is Korg every iPad synth the make is incredible !

Nice start...needs something. First: can't tune down half step...it only goes to 420 and needs to go down to 415 for true half step tuning; Second: it would be nice to have arp programs to load for examples

Killer. Monstrous synth, especially for arps. Sound is rich and full. Very tweakable. Works perfectly with Gadget, and will vastly expand your possibilities in that app. Downsides: no MIDI learn, heavy app to run. In-app purchases: skins, and 50 presets each. Decent but not essential. Most of the presets aren't that mind-blowing, you really need to get in and start working with this one.. Update: one star removed because there is a bug in Lexington Gadget, if you change the Osc. Frequency coarse or fine controls, it is impossible to return them to zero, a flat neutral setting, meaning you can detune your patch with no way to re-tune it. Moving the slider results in settings that are always a little bit higher or lower than zero. Hopefully this will be fixed.

Incredible emulation. Amazing synth emulation. The original ARP Odyssey V1 was the first synth I ever owned. This app brings back fond memories with extras. Well worth the money and I suggest getting the V2 & V3 models for extra textures. If it was available as an AU or IAA it would be perfect. However I'm still giving it 5 stars for a very close recreation of a classic synth.

Nice!. Love it. Even better on Gadget.

They did it again. Looks great, sounds great! Very impressed. My only issue so far is no AU support.

Amazing Synth. This synth is really cool, a very useful app with amazing leads.

Another fine iOS synth from Korg.. Though pricey, it's another great Korg iOS synth. Nice to see the development team is so responsive when it comes to correcting and and enhancing the code. Keep up the good work.

Cool, but no midi learn. Wish I outdated give it 5 stars but it's missing a critical feature - midi learn

Dope :-). Thank you !

Fun app. This app is really fun and sounds pretty good. My only issue is the temp changer. Needs a tap tempo or a faster change rate.

AVOID THIS ONE!!! :~(. I HAD THE PLEASURE,OF OWNING THE ORIGINAL SYNTH,THIS EMULATION,IS INDEED AWESOME!! SADLY INTONATION ACROSS THE KEYBOARD,IS LAME.THE WORST PROBLEM,AT LEAST FOR ME,IS NO MIDI LEARN...ALL THOSE SLIDERS,AND KNOBS,BUT YOU CANNOT ASSIGN MIDI CONTROL,TO YOUR MIDI CONTROLLER!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW!!!

Sounds Fantastic, could use IAA and AU connections, one significant UI glitch.. Sound is dead on. Feel like I'm listening to other vintage synthesists playing it. A bit surreal, actually, in that regard, and a joy. I was surprised to find it does not support inter app audio or the more recent audio unit API. That would be a fantastic maintenance upgrade. Finally, again, the sound is wonderful. Thank you for this! (Edited as of this morning's update to reflect bug I mentioned does seem to have vanished! Thank you!)

Freaking YES.. Just get it. It's so good.

Outstanding!. I really don't write reviews for apps often. I would put this synth on my top 5 synth apps. It's phat like the Moog system 15. I wish I could find a CC chart or allow midi cc learn? You can save your own presets! Make sure you're compatible first it's on the app purchase screen. I am running iPad mini 3 it's running fine! The effects aren't half bad as well. My 5 year old nephew loved it, he was able to understand it's simple lay out and tweet sounds. IAA!! Please I want to use this with Cubasis. Crashed once and had to reset to get sounds back. Midi cc learn!? And PLEASE put the cc chart in your manual. I only found out some by default???

Fantastic App! Cloud storage for presets?. I love it! Fantastic tone and layout. I would love a preset cloud sharing ability (similar to Gadget, where you can save a song on your iPhone, and then recall it on your iPad if it's saved to the cloud). I would also love Lexington (the Gadget version of it) to have the arpeggiator of the app. Keep the awesome apps coming Korg!

Great app, there only problem is.... I liked this app so much that I just ordered the hardware version of this synth.

Amazing iOS recreation. Worth every penny. Don't even think twice. This app is easily one of the best synths available and the range of PLAYABLE sounds is fantastic. Effects, step sequencer... too cool. Get the in-app revisions, too. Have fun!

recommended!. great synth app. thanks.

Fun app. UI could use work. The app sounds awesome!! It is extremely awkward to modify some parameters since the pop up box for the parameter's value is obscured by your finger or thumb. It would be nice if the "value" popup would display somewhere besides where I'm pressing.

Awesome synth app!. I am electronic musician and hobbyist. I own many keyboards synthesizers hardware Instruments and equipment. I'm also owner of many Korg Products like; Korg M1, Triton ST, Kronos, King Kong and man the software on my PC/MAC and iPad. This is truly amazing app synthesizer that brings that specific vintage analog Arp's Odyssey sound and feel. I'm really glad that Korg included processor effect and 100 great sounds! I wish that Korg would include those features in Arp's Odyssey hardware. It's great to have ability saving your own sounds. I understand that iPad app it's only simulation of analog sound. I have to admit that sound incredibly believable. The sound quality is really amazing! It works really great with my midi controller. After only have this for two days it should be no problem to use even life performance situations. I did two songs and a half screen can do a lot of things in this app. I really think that even if use the resulting you not going to go to tell from the record if that was the real thing or not. Great job Korg. I highly recommend this Synth app for even serious musicians.👍

A classic. This instrument is a classic, this remake of it is really good. I am pleased with the sound of this app. Great fun to use in gadget as well. I am not pleased with the preset system. It needs a way to export presets for sharing and to exchange with the gadget ecosystem. Fantastic app with a flaw. 4/5 for nostalgia and sound compared to other apps.

Incredible little synth app. I ordered this app thinking it would be a decent little synth program but when I played with it there were some amazing sounds. I love the programmable arpeggiator and the effects like distortion, phaser, flange, chorus, etc. A couple of complaints; there isn't any way to program the arpeggiator in gadget and the sounds that you program on the app won't transfer to it either. It seems like making such a great program the designers would allow more transfer to gadget. Also I can't figure out a way to record music on the odyssei app itself. All around I actually like this synth more than the microkorg synth that I owned. It's an incredible app for only $20. I would recommend this app to anybody.

Fantastic retro synth. But as others have noted, Gadget and standalone versions cannot share patches. Much easier to program this synth in standalone mode. You can do it, Korg, and we would love to have cloud sharing, preferably through Dropbox, in a future update.

Wow!!!. Awesome sound and controls.

Amazing reproduction. I remember this synth when it first came out and this is amazing reproduction of the sounds. I'd get it if I were you at this low introductory price. Just bought it and it's a lot of fun. One thing I'd like to see: Please let us "Favorite" our preferred sounds so we can access them faster. Other than that, it's fantastic.

MIDI learn please. The ARP Odyssey was my very first synth purchase when they first hit the market @1971. Being a steadily working, full time musician, I used it 5 nights a week. So, I became intimately familiar with it. It's very nice to have this recreation for the iPad. And, having all the new capabilities that the digital realm allows, like saving presets, having switchable filter modes, arpeggiator, a full complement of inboard effects, and 8 note polyphony. Having the ability to control the instrument from our MIDI keyboard controller is crucial for live performance. Please update this wonderful instrument with MIDI Learn functionality.

The ARP ODYSSEY!!!!!. Korg has done it again!!!!! This standalone and gadget app is amazing! Adds a very analogue synth to the gadget lineup! It's very in depth, and a fader tweekers dream sauce! Three filter types offer some serious variety and are tasty! Effect section is huge!!!! I'm in love with Korg, and this synth sounds fantastic! Big ups for bringing the Odyssey to the iOS and gadget world!!!!

Believe The Hype. This really is the Jesus Synth. I am by no means a synthesist, and I was creating amazing sounds immediately just playing around with the first factory preset. Everything from circuit-bent mayhem ala Noizemusick to swirling arps to theremins. The fact you then have these sounds automatically available in Gadget is just icing on the cake!

What is going on where is the midi implementation?. This app doesn't have midi learn or continuous controller support.

Absolutely excellent!!!. Korg have hit it out of the ballpark with this. Just like iMS-20, iM1, iPoylsix before it, this app is a sound-faithful emulation of the ARP Odyssey series. And with additions too! Instabuy :-) No regret.

Pluses and minuses, but mostly good. Pluses: • This came out with Gadget support on day one. Good choice by Korg. Thank you, and thanks also for the sale price. • Beautiful GUI and icon. • Excellent sound quality. Really a fantastic-sounding synth overall. Minuses: • No IAA transport controls. This is a problem with ALL of Korg's apps. • Fiddly controls. This is a problem with ALL of Korg's apps, especially Gadget. • No data exchange via email. • No data exchange at all. I have not tested for the pitch/key tracking issue some of the other reviewers have mentioned. I'll come back to update my review if I find any such problem as I begin to use this synth in my music.

Worth every penny. Breath taking wonderful and probably the most fun to program synth app I have used! No kidding. And it sounds so true to its name in a spooky way with insane effects and modulation up the wazoo...what's not to like here? All we need now is an Arp 2600 app! Happy days are here again! Peace christo

Fantastic. Amazing. Such great quality. I wish it had Audio unit capabilities but maybe for the next update. Great job Korg.

Incredible.. Awesome.

Please add audio unit v3 support. I cant use this in GarageBand without audiounit and I don’t like using korg gadget please add auV3

Good sound, flawed offering. Overall, this is a feature-rich, great sounding app, and if that's what you're after, you'll be happy. However, there are some shortcomings that the potential buyer should be aware of. First, the manual is very weak, and barely scratches the surface. There are screen shot errors that don't match the copy, and the writing appears to be done by somebody who's not a native English speaker. Forgivable, but not exactly helpful. The oscillators are a problem; VCO1 and VCO2 do not run on the same frequency; you can fudge the fine tune on one or the other to get them to almost be the same pitch, but it makes me wonder what else is out of calibration that's less noticeable. It's sort of correctable, but one-half star down for that problem. The other issue I have a problem with is the weak MIDI implementation. Virtually every synth app I have lets you map MIDI controllers to the functions of the app. Not so, the Oddysei. It would be less problematic if the default mapping were ok, but the mod control on my Arturia modulates the Arpeggiator steps, and when it snaps back to center, the Arpeggiator bumps down to 1 step. All it takes is a bump and zammo, my arpeggiator is whacked! The only solution is to re-load the preset. I'm trying to find on which planet this might be considered musically useful, but it's not this one. This knocks the score down a point and a half. I suspect Korg licensed this from a 3rd party, because overall, it's not up to their usual standards. I hope the do a rev that addresses these issues, at which time I'll address my rating. 3 stars.

This thing sounds amazing. Great sounds great interface fun to use.

Must have cloud storage for custom presets!. Playing synths for 43 years. Know this one like a child. No brainer to purchase, but factory presets are weak, but so are most. I am no genius, but by the 1st day I had written 40 of my own. By day 3 more than 60. Simply, when provided a Synth from yesteryears that sound's pretty darn close to the real one, I can write better presets than the masters who designed this app. Certainly they have the talent of creating this famous synth, but I want my presets saved. First, they would be on my iPhone, 2nd and most importantly they would be safe. If I sound "big ego", I'm not. Anyone doing any work for almost 4 decades should feel proud of their skills. I'm just one of those guys. 4 stars for accuracy in sounds, sliders, masterful GUI and just fun. 5th star when I can save my presets to the cloud.

Awesome emulation. I love the retro cinematic vibe you can get out of it. Awesome for bass, lead sounds and moods. It has a nice expressive sound.

Korg...the BEST. They rock hard! When apple releases a new ipad 12"...i will get it and be rockin crazy with Gadget and my hardware studio!

KORG!!!! Please!. Korg, I love this app! Please please please add a tap tempo!!!

BEAUTIFUL JOB! Love it. A great iPad implementation of a great little synth. Worth every penny (I paid $20). Plays nice with the KORG apps on iPad. Sounds great! Lots of factory presets to see how all the modules work together with the sliders moving around and such. Quite stunning!

Awesome app. Worth it!. Love Love this

Pretty Nice. Very versatile, great sounding synth with a very robust arp/sequencer. It does have it's share of problems, as others have mentioned. For me, ArpOi is hit or miss when it comes to driving it from sequencer or DAW apps. sync problems, clock problems. I'll happily give it another star when that gets fixed.

Pure bliss!. Wouldn't have thought this possible, even with Korg's other great output. This is like having my old Odyssey back again with more bonuses than you can shake a stick at: polyphony, effects, programmable arpeggiator you can assign to three different destinations with different settings for each. And the sounds! Brilliant programming on the presets open a million doors to ideas. Bravo to you guys. You've outdone yourselves if that is even possible. It does need a few more things, like AU, midi learn, and the tempo setting could be easier. But these are niggles in the face of brilliance. Korg, you rock.

Does NOT respect “no rating nag” setting. I have the “let apps nag me for reviews” setting turned OFF but you nagged me for a review anyway, so here is your 1 star review. Nobody wants to be interrupted and told to write a review! >:-(

Fantastic!!!!. After downloading the app I was immediately transported back to 1979 and when I first had the chance to play the actual hardware! Leads, basses, and pads are flat out authentic sounding. Only thing missing is real sliders and my old amp head and speaker cabinet from high school. Korg has done an amazing job here. Having presets and built in effects is great which is an improvement over the original classic. Analog synth enthusiasts will not be disappointed by this app!

Love it!. Love it!

Great synth with wide range of dynamic sounds. I really enjoy playing this synth. Patches are satisfying and options for shaping new sounds are endless. Missing the mini sequencer feature in Gadget Lexington which is a major flaw. Please add in an update!
