Can’t get off the screen that is asking for the premium. Great App, even without the premium feature. But after about 5 minutes, it brings me to a screen that does not have a ‘cancel’ or an ‘x’ to take me off to keep using the app without the premium. The only way to get back to the app without the premium is to delete the app and download the app again. This is probably on purpose, but it certainly is annoying for someone who doesn’t want to pay for anything. If this is you, I don’t recommend this app.

It’s okay. It’s really helpful for my composition work, but there are a lot of seemingly simple features that it lacks that could make it a lot better. For example, I can’t copy and paste measures between sheets of music (and copying/pasting in the SAME song is a real pain.) You can delete notes and rests, but you can’t delete accents, dynamics, repeats, or anything like that. You just have to remove the entire measure. That’s really irritating. Everything it can do really isn’t worth $10... for $10, I would expect more easy-of-use user interface design. It’s pretty simplistic, for the most part. It’s really dumb that adding a key signature to the sheet music isn’t featured in the “free” part of the app. But yeah, I wouldn’t really recommend this to a friend unless they were in great need for a simple music composition software.

Would recommend, but ….. I really like this app and I would definitely recommend it to other music lovers. However there are some things that can be improved on. For example: I came out of one song I was working on to work on another song. When I came back to the first song, I couldn’t use the undo button. That was very frustrating. Other than that and a few other things, the app is very good and I enjoy using it.

Great! But..... This app is incredible for writing music. There are a few flaws, though. It can get sluggish if a song exceeds around 150 measures. I also wish you can use more than just 8 separate instruments. And the biggest flaw is that transposition ranges from sounding a full octave below written, to a full octave above written. This doesn’t allow some instruments to be charted properly, such as the tenor, and baritone saxes. Fix these few things, and it’s easily 5/5 stars.

Usable but plenty missing. The description of this app mentions lyrics, but a separate app is available that also describes lyrics and neither of them appear to do so. It is not clearly described that almost ALL functionality is hidden behind a few separate (!!) In-App purchases. There are a few other things that are limitations: 1: the “pages” do not nicely fill a printed page when exporting to PDF 2: the Transpose function doesn’t do anything but change the audio output when previewing the song - the actual notation remains in the original key! 3: Copy/Paste functionality is pretty simple, and hard to get working right (but repeats/codas seem to work properly when testing using the audio playback) 4: when adding volume or tempo decorations, there is not a way to REMOVE them - resulting in more than one kind of “f f f f ffff fff MF ppppppppp”! 5: crescendo marks are temperamental, difficult to place, and don’t “look right” to me (I can’t think of another way to put it)

Pretty useless.. First, I should admit that I have only tried the free version. EVERYTHING you could possibly want to do costs extra though. All of those little costs add up. Might as well drop the $15 and buy an actually good music notation app, rather than download this free one and get charged for every little thing you could possibly want to do. Also, It’s super tedious to try and use. I’m a pretty small person yet even my fingers couldn’t seem to hit the tiny buttons on this app. It’s also really not intuitive at all. Trying to figure out how to do simple things like erase notes, add double bar lines, or switch between rhythms is confusing and time consuming. I hate this app. I don’t think it’s good for anything. Absolutely useless.

Far too idiosyncratic. This app works, once you figure it out, but it's far too weird for the $8/week (!) subscription price. It applies very rigid rules: no chord on a rest; no redundant accidentals; etc. Jazz is often written with no key signature, using accidentals for every note, and may use a "reminder" natural on the same note in the next bar. And jazz chord changes are usually on the first or 3rd beat, even if the melody bar begins with a rest. You cannot apply these conventions in the app. The chord symbols are microscopic. Half the icons are actually app store links to other apps by the author; not likely to try them after this experience. I finally figured out how to delete a chord symbol, by selecting it and using the controls to change it to null. Similarly, you can edit a note duration by selecting a different duration in the menu, then selecting the note with the cursor. Of course, there's no internal documentation, just this really fast, silent video, so it's difficult to know how to do things.

Terrible. I really loved this app until I noticed that in the treble clef that the B’s stem was up and it’s supposed to be down once you get to the middle of the staff. And I was mad I didn’t want to make music with mistakes I’m 13 and I still know that and another thing is that when I have my dynamics or I have a certain note sometimes a slur, accent, or a staccato touches that note and becomes more messy I deleted the app ever since and if it was better I would get it back I remember there were some other errors but I can’t remember since I haven’t been on here in a long time Get noteflight it’s way better

Mediocre at best. I got this to help me take my music writing to a professional level. It’s quite glitchy and frustrating. When you go to edit, you have to know immediately after you’ve made the error or change your mind. It’s supposed to be easy, but it doesn’t reliably do the actions your expecting to do. It could be intuitive if it consistently worked. I was hoping that if I hovered over the icons it would tell me what action I was dealing with. I can’t write lyrics or vocals on this program, unless I’ve missed that. The tutorials are very basic. Not at all what I needed to help me with the more advanced and detailed work in need to perform. I’m sure this is fine for amateurs, or very basic work, but it isn’t anything like what I’m used to with Finale.

Free version is practically useless. The app is pretty much made so that you need to have the paid version—which is outrageously expensive (7 days free and then $7 a week) for anyone who isn't using the app for business purposes. Without premium there are so many features that aren’t included, you can’t change: key signature, BPM, time signature, instrument etc. Furthermore, every time I open the app, a huge ad forcing me to pay for the premium version pops up, and I cannot get rid of it unless I press “upgrade” and cancel my purchase. It’d be easier to just write letters in my notes app. In conclusion, the free version of the app is completely useless and worthless for anyone who wants to write longer and more complicated compositions, and the paid version is way too expensive in my opinion.

Pretty Good. I don’t want to get into the payment details about this but it’s technically worth it. The app is pretty good for when you are not actually able to play/write music at the moment. There are some problems like no swing functionalities and the fact that triplets at the end of the measure and possible unless you change the time signature. The biggest and worst problem are the instruments, look they’re okay but WAY out of tune. Harmony is not possible with two different instruments. I play saxophones and other reed instruments so I can say this about brass. Reed instruments are pretty bad. Saxophones are way to high, the highest note for alto is C but it is generally F sharp on an actual saxophone. Tenor sax is just out of tune completely. Barisax is way to high. Sopranosax is the best one. Clarinets are just way to quite. I mean other than that, it’s a pretty good app. The key board, guitars, basses, percussion, etc sounds pretty well. Although the string instruments always do the start of the note. This makes string instrument kind of robotic. Other than these things, it’s definitely worth it.

Best notation app (question for devs). As far as a notation program, you are better off using a computer, but I really love using this app when I don't have access to a computer. It has every basic feature needed. Overall, It is more of a 4 star app, but since its the best of its kind on the AppStore it deserves 5. It would be amazing if there was an online forum or way to contact the developers in case you have any questions. Question for devs: I was writing a song and somehow got some notes to turn up grey which would allow me to write another voicing with a different rhythm. How do I enable and disable this feature?

Ads make this unusable. I couldn’t even start to do anything in this app. Every time I clicked on anything an ad, either for the premium version or just some annoying video ad, would pop up. Also, a couple of things I clicked on took me to the app store. The app claims it can write music for 100+ instruments, but I couldn’t get to anything other than piano. Maybe you have to pay for that? I don’t know. But if you do have to pay for that it should be very clear in the app info. I’m definitely not going to pay for an app that does nothing it claims in the free version.

Turn back. Can’t even access basic functionality without a subscription.. Can’t even do something as little as change the tempo in the free version. I hit tempo and got a full screen pop-up begging me to start a free trial of the pro version (which, of course automatically turns to a $6.99/week subscription after). There’s no X or way to get rid of that screen unless you start the free trial. Even if you close the app and reopen it it goes straight to that screen so you can’t even test things out. I’ll never support this business model where it’s made to appears like there’s a free version (which is expected to be limited in functionality), but it turns out to be *completely crippled* version that pushes you towards a subscription, and even the most basic functions are behind a paywall. I wish Apple would do a better job at screening this crap. Might be a good app. I’ll never know because I’m not supporting this bait-and-switch business model.

Suits my needs. As a music therapist and private teacher, I love this app. I write etudes for students, and use it for transcribing, transposing, or arranging songs. There is a bit of a learning curve to it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I would like it to have some more features, and fix an error. The stem of the note for the 3rd line should be written down when played by itself, but on this program it’s written up instead. Sometimes I like to add chord symbols, i.e. Cm7, along with a melody line, but the letters are written so small it’s hard to see. And it gets covered by any notes written above the staff. Also you HAVE to include a tempo marking, quarter note = ?? Bpm, with every score. Sometimes I don’t need to include one and I can’t get rid of it. For the purposes of writing etudes I would like to include a double bar line at the end of every line but can’t seem to figure that out. Little things like that. This app has been a great resource for me. Definitely recommend it!

Pretty decent for quick ideas. Fairly intuitive, but the editing functions leave much to be desired. To me, the most annoying feature is that it puts rests in for you if you go to another measure and leave one incomplete, then you have to erase the rests to plug in the rest of your notes. Also, the sounds are real rough and dynamics aren’t well rendered. That said, this is really useful and allows ideas to get down “on paper” very quickly.

waste of time and effort. I have no idea what these other people are doing with the reviews but this app stinks. it’s a complete waste of time and energy. u can’t get anything done without it spamming u with “buy our premium version for way too much money and in a week forget that u paid for it and we’ll charge u without u knowing because u forgot about this app and probably deleted it” u literally can’t get anything done and it’s a painfully slow process. also incase u were wondering... yes u basically have to get premium if u want to do anything. can’t even change the beats per min (which is very important). look around a little more and find a better app.

Disappointing. I own a flute, and the only reason I really downloaded this app was because I had begun messing around and creating my own little tunes. I just wanted to keep track of them, not lose something special to me, y’know? Well, I trued to watch a tutorial, and it told I had to pay. So I skipped that and went to the creating part. I figured out how to place notes, but everything else was hard to figure out. I couldn’t find eight notes, change most things with out a weekly payment, but what frustrates me the most was that I couldn’t figure out how to listen to the song played on a flute! Is there even a way to change instruments? I deleted a few minutes after and started browsing again. Please make it, I don’t know, cheaper?? Easier to follow? Just fix it.

I like it. After a bit of getting used to, and some glitches involving getting kicked out of the app when opening a copy of a previously created score (which seems to have cleared itself up), this is fun and mostly easy to use. The cut and paste with window feature is a bit of a pain, and I would really appreciate being able to add lyrics and determine chords, and I'll be looking for an app that does that. I'd like to be able to pick where to start playback, but it's nice to be able to save to a .pdf or .png file. You will have to upgrade in order to add instrument families, vary tempo, and key signatures (instead of having to add accidentals to notes), so I've spent about $15 total. But this has saved me a ton of time over having to write out a manuscript longhand. I don't have PC access right now, so being able to do it on my phone is a kick in the pants.

Coolness. This app is pretty cool. The free version is great, and I bet that’s exactly what some of you are wondering. You can use pretty much any staff elements and there is a button that you can push that will put a line on the screen that guides you through the notes. Why the missing star? The adds about becoming a paying member are far more annoying and have a secret way of getting out that took me a while to discover: above the sign up, 7.99 a month, there is a sentence in smaller print that says, “or continue with free version”. That is where you click, on the words. If you are bad at noticing obvious things like me and you get the free version (which I would suggest), you’ll be glad you saw this. Also, to the developer, sorry for the previous, harsh review. Enjoy making some music!

The most senseless money grab. As far as the premium features of the app are concerned I cannot speak to the quality. The reason for this is that I wanted to try the app first before I did. So I created my first project and went to set the key and found that ‘feature’ paywalled. Further when the screen popped up telling me to pay for the feature there was no option to simply return to the previous screen. I had to close the app completely to get back to my project. After trying to do what I think of as basic functions for a couple minutes I found that they had paywalled everything needed to scribe anything other than Mary had a little lamb. The price is absurd for an app where you don’t even get to opportunity to test drive the before needing to upgrade. Atrocious.

Awesome app, and I really wanted that eggshell background. No BS, this app is very helpful and what I’ve been looking for. Been reading intensive theory, so having this app alongside counterpoint and various harmonic exercises helps me greatly in digesting material quicker. However, I find the rating to be a bit misleading when certain customizable options (namely the background-color adjustment) is available only after a five-star review is exchanged.

Okay, but..... So. I got this app after literally WEEKS of searching for an app that would let me write lyrics with my music. And I came across this one, and it said that it was great for writing lyrics. I got it and played around with it for a long time, but I could not find anywhere to put lyrics in, and I wasn’t getting much time to look with the “UPDATE TO UNLIMITED” screen popping up in my face EVERY FIVE SECONDS with no way to remove it. Seriously? Maybe I don’t want to pay the $20 for the pro version, okay!?! I’m okay with ads, but this was just annoying. I got the app because it said it was good with lyrics, and yet there was nowhere to put lyrics in once I got there. Does someone know how to put lyrics into this app because I certainly don’t, and the tutorial was no help whatsoever. If there isn’t a way to put lyrics, at least please say so in the app description. Thank you, and have a nice day.

Ok but hard to get help. I really like being able to use my iPad to put down & listen to what I’m hearing in my head. The problem I’m having is that it’s not easy to edit the score. Stability is a problem, as Sometimes an action works fine but the same action may not work the next time & instead will mess up that measure. I have questions like: How do I add lyrics? Why do some notes become grayed out so I can’t make changes later? The support is almost non-existent (no answers in the Q&A; nothing on the developer website; the video tutorial goes too fast & has no audio to help vision impaired users). I can’t even find any answers on Google. It takes a long time to do a simple part because I’m pretty much on my own trying to figure things out that should otherwise be easy. UPDATE: thanks for answering some of my questions. I have other questions. Is there a way to select/copy/paste measures so I don’t have to re-enter all of those notes again? Why are some sounds (like pan flute) volume so low? I shouldn’t have to lower all the other sounds way down just to hear it/

There is better out there for free. This app is for one thing not intuitive. A digital keyboard would make notation much better, but of course that’s a part of a separate app. Virtually all useful features are behind a ridiculous paywall of $7.99 a week, totaling $415 a year. I tried another app, “Flat”, and was blown away by how many features were included for free, with useful but not necessary upgrades behind a $50 annual subscription. There should be no reason I need to pay $415 a year to be able to do simple things like change the tempo or time signature or even key signature. Seeing apps like “Flat” make this unredeemable.

Please read but I love this app. I use this app to write songs for fun when I’m bored or even when I need to practice something I can write it into music and hear how it sounds then be able to learn it that way but only a few more things should be implemented such as quintuplets or sextuplets related to a regular triplet or other things in music that haven’t been added but other then that I love to use this anytime and I probably will be buying the full version once I get the money

Can’t Do Anything - Now Solved. Edit: Does anyone know how to put in the notes? I’ve tried dragging, clicking, almost everything and it isn’t working. This app got me really excited, but the first few seconds an ad for a free trial popped up for the pro version of this. This would be no biggie, but there was no way to X out of it and I couldn’t find a way to ignore it. I tried reuploading the app, refreshing my iPad, getting rid of the tab, and nothing worked. I really hope I can get this issue fixed because it seems like it would be a good & useful app. Please have an x button on our free trial pop-up. - Lol, figured it out. It was hard though, for a brain like mine.

Very versatile and great to use. I am a sophomore in high school that likes to create music from scratch... I don’t have any expensive monthly computer music subscription that is hard to use or expensive... All I have to make music with is a tiny 4 year old iPhone SE... I found this app and after I little whole of searching I was about to give up... I downloaded it and found how easy this was to use and how well it put chords and multiple parts together... I have stretched this app out to its limits with its max of 8 parts along with chords and this second line feature that allows you to put two parts on one line... this app almost perfectly read out the music and can handle a simple duo or solo to even homemade symphonies... this app is definitely worth the money but it has a couple of issues with sound defects and some chords that are supposed to work like octave down G chord (key of B flat) on Trombone is very out of tune... along with other chords on specific instruments... And some of the instruments can’t handle fast moving parts... (contrabass is one) But I’ve found this app very useful and user friendly and I give it 5 big ones.

Pricy but invaluable on the go. Write a lot on the side. Has more features than a free one and highly reliable but don’t expect to put more than 5 instruments; unable to break stems or rearrange notation symbols. :( Still the best thing for me; invaluable for those with bouts of inspiration but little time to prep a paper; it’s literally there when you need it! Haven’t tested limitations but will in the future! Ty developer for a very useful app. c:

I LOVE IT!. I absolutely love this app! I needed an app that would allow me to compose pieces while also allowing me to hear it for my Music Theory Class since I don’t really have a laptop yet and, so far, it’s been absolutely wonderful. The only reason I’m giving it 4/5 Stars is because I have trouble removing notes when I want to tweak something in, say, the first measure but I already have the first sheet of music done. To get rid of that one note, I could get rid of it but it takes forever for that little “x” to come up (maybe it’s because of my big fingers). Another reason why I can’t give it five stars is because I still haven’t tried out the feature that would let me send my homework to my teacher so, fingers crossed that it works. As for the paid stuff, to be honest, I feel like it’s worth the money since most programs like this are about the same amount anyway. All in all, great app and I can’t wait to see how the developers improve it even more ❤️

Pretty good, but.... I gave it a 5 star rating because of its user friendliness. However, it’s flaw is that you cannot change the key, time signature, and a bunch of other stuff without paying. For a young, broke person like me, this makes it pretty hard to use. However, I was able to work around it by just putting those details in the name of the song.

Scam. Literally cannot unsubscribe. There is no button anywhere that lets you. The only thing I haven’t tried is the Get VIP button, which is currently non-functioning. Looked for support; the support link links to an ad for the app. Googled support; only found ads for the app. Logging in only lets you change your name. Settings offer background color changes in exchange for 5 star reviews (hence the inflated positive rating), a FAQ with two questions (none related to account payments), the ability to share, a bug report (which I just submitted under the assumption that INABILITY TO UNSUBSCRIBE is an unintended feature), a video tutorial, and little else.

Drums?. This is a great app for notating on the go! But I’ve recently found that when my music goes past a certain measure number the bass line becomes percussion? It stops being a bass line on the piano and just starts becoming cymbal crashes and other drum noises. I can’t figure out how to make it stop. The “instrument” page says it’s just a piano so I have no idea what’s going on and it’s ruining the sound of my music. If this gets fixed then the app is 5 star worthy.

Good start but needs improvement. It’s really pretty good for on-the-go notating, which is super helpful, but there are some pretty obvious issues that I’d love to see fixed. One- being able to format the systems/lines of music- often it will end with just one enormous measure at the bottom of the page, which looks ridiculous. Two- there doesn’t seem to be a way to add a second line of lyrics for a verse 2. There’s a button for it, but it doesn’t seem to work unless you add in completely new notes for the second verse, which seems pretty silly. I just want to add new lyrics for the same melody as the first verse...

Why. Why are there no real drums.. This might actually be a decent app. But I wouldn’t know. Because the only thing that I got this app for was writing in percussion clef. So I bought all the god forsaken extras (ten bucks just to EDIT TEMPO?!) and all of the percussion instruments because I *assumed* there would be a kit option. Even though it wasn’t listed as “kit” or anything, I put my faith in the “synth drums” instrument, because a lot of synths that have a drums setting can do almost anything I would possibly need. Then I found out that “synth drums” is literally just one tom pitched up and down. It’s literally just a piano with some slight attack to it. It serves as nothing but an insult to (highly) paying customers. Sigh. All I know is that Noteflight better get it together and release a mobile app or I’m going to continue being a sad little girl. Please introduce at least a basic drum kit. For real, look at Noteflight’s drum notation software and take some notes. If you add FX cymbals (china, splash, bells, swishes, etc.) I will literally leave Noteflight entirely behind and use this app exclusively. All I need is a decent kit. Can we get a percussion clef, please?

A WASTE (if your instrument is anything but a piano). I purchased this app with high hopes but you literally can't do anything without additional purchases. I was hoping to compose a violin trio and I had to pay extra to change the acoustic piano instrument to violin only to find out that 1.) you can't get rid of the bass clef without paying extra (even if it's in VIOLIN mode) 🙂 2.) you have to pay extra to add in other parts 🙄 Other than that you can't change the time signature or the tempo. SO BASICALLY this app was only made for pianists playing 4/4 at 120 bpm. Also, there's ads everywhere! Seriously! In between going to the settings, menu, and the actual sheet music, there's 3 different ads, which I find very inconvenient.

Good but think it’s crazy how it works. Ok 👌 so I like it because you can create songs buuuuuuuut there are issues I can’t save because of VIP craps 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩ha ha anyway so were was I oh ya you can’t save uless you have VIP🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 hope you fix the problem 😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷Corona Virus is out there and people get bored with nothing to do so hurry the up USA 🇺🇸 also president trump is a great man 👨 ceep up the great fight 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This is great!. I am an up and coming composer, five foot five, fourteen years, and I think this app is great! I've been taking piano for about 9 years now, and I must say: This sure beats handwriting! The app is great because not only does it allow the user to create amazing sounding music, it also plays the music quite nicely. Overall, I think this app has great potential to become your next music composing tool of choice (besides your brain obviously).

Annoying. This app is almost on the same level as the latest version of Marco Polo. This app showed a lot of promise as a basic and free version, but it hounds you to upgrade to a paid version and you basically cannot do anything outside 4/4 time. One should at least have some of the standard times, like 2/4 and 3/4 as part of the basic package. At least you aren’t limited in the actual writing of the music-which I fully expected with how it grubs for an upgrade. On top of it all, it has ads that pop in somewhat frequently. Thus, my title to this review.

Pretty good, but overpriced. The app itself is quite wonderful, but to buy every feature costs $15. Definitely overpriced. However, the app is amazing. I can test out anything I want and design any song I want, any key and time signature, any tempo, a wide selection of instruments. I would however like to point out that there are no non pitched percussion instruments like bass drum, snare drum, cymbals. But the app is still excellent. It has so many features that I don’t even recognize some of them. I would definitely recommend this app if you want to make a song or just a piano score.

Delete function doesn’t fully function; Sorely lacks a user manual. I don’t know if this is a bug in the Notation app, or what. But, it’s nearly impossible to alter the notes one has written. At most, one occasionally go a step or two backwards. But, beyond that, it’s not at all clear how one would alter a more complex structure one has composed. It’s also not at all clear how one would insert rests before the notes one has already written. The lack of any user manual makes figuring out how to do such things quite daunting. A detailed user manual would be a very welcome addition to the Notation Program — an addition that is sorely needed if one is to be capable of utilizing the program to its full potential. I’m hoping to hear from the author of the program as to how to carry out the functions I’m having a problem with.

An ad machine disguised as a music app. So the actual editing feature is ok when it the screen doesn’t lock up - I’d love to tell you more about the functionality of this app, but it was too busy playing full-screen video ads at me every few clicks. Playback doesn’t actually make a sound. At least half of the buttons, when clicked, will bring up a window demanding you sign up for a subscription that costs more than my phone plan just to use the rest of the features it supposedly has. This sort of software has not changed appreciably since Finale or Sibelius in the early 2000s - why the subscription runaround?

Would be amazing. Got this app in a rush to write down a bass line for a song I randomly came up with and was actually pretty good!… It’s takes a little looking around because there’s no tutorial or anything, but even then it’s still quite clean and simple to use. until I try to change the time signature. I get met with a “Buy the pro version!” Ad, pretty standard for any and everything online but there’s no option to close out the window. Only a link to purchase it and a link to start the free trial. There’s no way for me to go back to my Notation because of the pop up. Would’ve loved to make this my new notation app but I can’t stand that.

Beginner SongWriter. Love this app. I was watching a vlog on the top songwriting apps and this was suggested as #10. I understand music theory and song progression through learning to playing and playing the violin for so long, but I’ve never created my own music. I’m teaching myself to write music and songs based on my experiential knowledge. This app is amazing for people who can sight read and play an instrument by ear because it so easy to put a note on the page, play it and build on it to make the sound or song as you hear it in your mind. The written notes are placed along a score and helps to remove the necessity of constantly having an instrument available. It’s so easy to use from editing, deleting, adding, saving. It’s so great. Check it out. In my opinion, it’s definitely worth the purchase. It’s not going to create a whole song with the ability to introduce multiple instruments or effects available in a mixing studio. But it’s perfect for creating sheet music verbatim or using it to build the skeleton of a song that you may choose to upload into another program to add Sound FX, vocals, drum beats, etc. I love it. Check it out. I hope I’ve described the app in enough detail on how it’s benefited me in order to know whether it’s a great fit for you.

It functions, but barely. This app is in the very minimalist sense of the word functional, with many stupid design choices and annoying things that could very easily be fixed. For one, when the app shows you the pro subscription screen, there’s no way to click out of other than clicking the ad and going back to the main screen. Secondly, the app doesn’t show rests when notating, and makes it very strange when writing. If you write a note, it won’t show the rest of the measure as rest but simply only show that one note, which is strange. Also, the music doesn’t play when you’re not wearing headphones, which is a strange issue. Not good 2/5

Easy to use, VERY difficult to print. I downloaded this app in order to arrange music for my choir, and I was very impressed by the options available to me. After a couple of days I purchased the $7.99 A WEEK package in order to have more musical liberties, and it was worth the $16 to be able to use those features for 2 weeks. Once I was done arranging the piece, I was VERY disappointed to learn I had spent $16 for TWO WEEKS of a service only to have it print with a notation pad watermark. I can simply buy a copy of music off of any website for $3-$7 and it will have nothing but a small note in fine print to indicate the service it came from. It is unacceptable to make your customers pay a ridiculous amount of money each week only to leave them with marked copies of music that THEY composed. I recommend finding a different app for a musical outlet.

Oh, man……... I needed an app to write music on, because I’m a composer. So I looked around, and this seemed like a cool app. So I got it. Well, I was trying to write some music notes down on the paper, and it wouldn’t let me. I had never used this app before, so I clicked the button the said ‘tutorial’ thinking it would help. But no, all it did was say “please sign in.” So I tried doing just that and then did it work? No. It did not. It took me to a place where I have to buy a membership to it, and it didn’t have a X to click to get out of there. So I got completely off of the app. Closed it and everything. Then I got back on. Still same screen, with the pleading robot asking me to buy some stupid membership to it. I guess what I’m trying to say is that, if you have some knowledge with software and/or this app, then feel free to use it, but me, I didn’t know anything about it, so if your like me, I don’t recommend it.

Need some support. I am not a professional musician, so I am only using the very basic feature of this app, and so far it seems to be working the way it should. However, I need some help, but I can’t find a link where I can ask the developer, so I am going to ask here, and hopefully the developer will answer me. I transcribed a song to the notation pad, but half way through it, I realized that I should have started one octave higher. Is there a way I can move all the notes that I put down on the pad to one octave higher, without deleting all of it and do it again from scratch? Also, is there an easier way to ask questions than through the review, in case I have more questions down the road? Thank you very much.

Great So Far, But.... I just downloaded this app because I needed a portable program to easily write sheet music. I decided to try it out. It works really well; much better than the computer program I use, but I'm a little disappointed about one thing. I tried to change the key signature, but it said I needed to buy the extras pack to do so. I read the details, and it seems other things that I would like to use also require the purchase. I don't think it seems fair that I need to pay to change the key signature and tempo, change the clef, and add a pickup bar. I'm not giving the app up just yet and I will buy the purchase as soon as I can, but I just thought I'd share my opinion. My main question: Why DO you need to pay for those things, anyway? And one more thing: I've noticed that there isn't an option for certain sound effects that can be played on other instruments, either. Do you think you could add those in a different update? If so, I'd appreciate it.

Can’t even try it out?. I assumed since there is an unlimited access version that there would be a limited access version to see if I liked it. There isn’t and you have to pay to even give it a shot, so I’ll try a different app. How disappointing. If I would have been able to try it, I might have ended up buying it. Response: it wouldn’t let me try anything for free. The screen to pay took over the entire app with no way to get rid of it. But the quick reply by the dev was polite, so deserves a star boost.

Baggy, clumsy editing, dubious privacy policy. Generally pretty well executed but some parts made me uninstall pretty quickly. Laying out notes is straightforward until you make a mistake. You can’t select a note and drag it to the correct note. You have to switch to select, select the note and then move it. I can live with that. What is irritating is the keyboard icon is next to the select icon and I kept pressing that by mistake. Instead of opening a keyboard editor, it throws you over to the App Store to download a separate app, which although I did not try it out, for all intents and purposes looks to be almost the same app. Why isn’t that feature just built into the one app? The upgrade nag screens are deliberately hard to dismiss and generally very annoying. I can deal with the clumsy editing, but the keyboard throwing you out to the App Store and the nag screens are very much deliberate design choices. Soft pass. The privacy policy isn’t great. They “obtain or infer demographic information”. They also let Facebook or Google to snoop on you if you need to connect to their services through this app for some reason. Hard pass.

nice. really easy to use useful app for me to make piano covers

Sound Fix. I like the app so far however I can’t hear what I’m doing and it’s very bothersome for me. Is this supposed to happen there’s a play button but I can’t hear anything when I press it.

Forced to pay to do anything. >Started new project >Placed one note (in the wrong space) >Couldn’t remove it >Exited the project to view the tutorial >Greeted with a subscription request screen that cannot be dismissed, and remains after restarting the app. I spent more time writing this than I was able to in the app.

Literally just doing this cause it forced me. This is a great app, but... it forces you to rate it five stars to actually unlock something. So it’s good, but bad

Amazing!!. Really great! It is amazing for music presentations and for people when their beginning to learn piano 🥰💞

Notation Pad. Very good once you learn how to use it, but a bit hard to use when you’re learning how to use it. Also not having the premium features makes it harder for key signatures and tempo. Overall pretty good.

Likes this app. I love this app

I love it. This is an amazing app for any arrangers or composers or just young musicians in the making. I truly believe this helps with harmonies and melodies and how to write good music. I think that anyone with a passion for music should get this. I really love it.

This app is amazing. Although you have to pay for the whole pack, it is so worth it!

It's great. Easy to use but expensive to upgrade 🙅🏼‍♂️

Unsure. Not working yet!

Amazing app. This app is perfect for when i have an idea and just want to write it down to not forget it, I dont use it however for actual music writing

Great app. Easy to use.

This is AMAZING!!!. I Love this app sooooooooooo much. It make writing my music so much easier!!

Don’t waste your time on this.. This app claims to be a music notator yet you have to buy a separate staff if you want anything other than a piano grand staff - shame on you for wasting my time. While using this app you will incessantly have to fight off numerous commercials for audiobooks - it also turns out you have to buy a bunch of other features that one would normally expect in a notating application

Lol. This is just so I can change the theme lol

It good apart for the ads. It is really good since I,m starting a band the only down side is whenever you try do something it give you an ad

High subscription cost. Found the cost too high for casual use.

Great!. Bro! I think this can be better then GarageBand!

Ok ig. Cool free in app stuff

:D. very awesome so far!!!

Only for the colour access lol. Dis feature is kinda annoying ngl

Great app. Practical music notation app

Very handy. Very handy app for us muso’s out there

I’m only doing this cuz I have to. Basically the notation pad has an issue where I need to rate it 5 stars for me to get background colours so yea actually like 1 star.

Amazing. I play piano all the time. And iam to lazy to write down what I do. With this app I can literally transfer everything.

Did not like this. This is not what I wanted.

Easy to use, needs more options. Great to use, would be great if you could enlarge the stave and choose how many bars you want. In addition, would be great to have the option to make comments for scales and exercises. Lastly, there isn’t violin features such as fingering numbers and symbols for up and down bows, lower half etc. That would be awesome. I’d would be able to complete my children’s book for violin.

Such a good app!!. Anyone who wants to write their own music or create their own covers for songs should definitely download this app!! Though there is a paid version, the free version is also very customisable :)

$10 a week!!. Every important quality is not available unless you pay the full fee of $10 a week. What annoys me is that it’s posted like a free app and you don’t see the price until installed. $520 a year I’ll buy sebelius!

Easy. Easy to use, very good

Pro ad keeps showing up. Whenever I try to start a score, it comes up with the premium ad and I don't know how to get rid of it. Please help me.

Too restrictive. You need premium to: > Change the instrument > Change the key > Change the time signature > Add more parts > Change the speed And premium is $10 a WEEK! I can literally place notes. Period.

Cool. It works for the easy stuff

Rubbish. The only instrument I can find is piano, and I play trumpet, there seems to be no key signatures option and it’s just overall confusing. I can’t even type music.

Pretty good. Would be better without in-app purchases

Lovely but.... I love this so much I even brought the reed instrument add on but all the instruments are all transposed eg: a c on the tenor sax is a g on the alto but on this app a c on the tenor is the same as a c on a alto! Please don't transpose the instruments

It’s okay. How do I add more than one appoggiatura to a note?

Laggy. Latest update has made it quite laggy. Please fix. Otherwise pretty good

I CANT EXIT THE ADVERTISEMENT. When I do use this app I am unable to exit the add floor unlimited access

$8/m or be stuck with one option. Can only use one speed, one instrument, one bar structure etc or pay $8/m. Surely there are better pricing options than that

Elegant Basics. This is a fantastic little app for quick music entry. While it doesn’t have the versatility of a full-featured computer program like Musescore, it is infinitely simpler to use. Perfect little travel app too. I often use it to write scales or tricky passages of a piece into it and use the playback feature to improve my intonation and rhythm.

No battery option. The app has a lot of great options but I wish there was battery so I could make a few pieces for my school.

Worst app ever. Can’t believe there are so many of fake 5-star reviews in this page. Subscribe ad jump out for every 10 seconds and if you buy the "full-version", there is no writing function for you. Just stay away with this app.

Don’t bother. Would be OK except for the incessant ads on the free version. Limited to a single key signature in any song and a very, very basic list of chord names to select from- eg there are no m7b5, 7#11, 7#9, 7b9, 7b13, b9b13 etc chord symbols. Not sure about the subscription version but too frustrated to try.

Gonna unlock a dark feature, yay. The app seems well put together and professional

Terrible would give negative stars. This app was so bad I would give it negative stars if I could. Had no idea how to use it and every button told me to get a new app or pay. SO BAD!

Deleted the app instantly. I wanted to try this out and see if it would suit me, but i couldn’t click out of the “try premium 7 days free then…..” whatever menu, no matter how many times i closed the app. Be more open to people wanting to use it for free.

Great but missing some vital things. This app is fantastic for song writing, but I noticed some missing features. Most notably, there is no 8va or peddle mark to use while writing songs which I have found a little bit annoying at times. Can you please incorporate these features. Great work!

Scandal!. You need to pay to use. 8.99$/ week... Musicians are not rich!

Forcing me to do this. It tells me to change the background that it needs me to do five stars nope

Are you crazy ?. Got 20 second out of it before it ask me for 9$ a week ! That’s 468 dollars a year !!. ARE YOU CRAZY ?

The app told me to give it 5 stars. ... I have no comment

Disappointed. Why does it even say it’s free?

I would do no star if it is available. Seriously ? I can’t get why this app has the average rating of 4 as all you can see from the review is one star. @iTunes , @Apple please due diligence on this before this tarnishes the reputation your rating system. Back to the app, less than 5 sec after I clicked into the app, this promo pop up came out which I tried millions of time to shut down to no avail . Tried all the buttons to avoid the force subscription which leaves me no choice but to put this app into trash can. Maybe that’s where this apps mean to be.

Free version is too limiting. You have to pay to change the time or key signatures, or to change the bpm. This app only works if you’re doing c major/a minor songs in 4/4 with 120bpm. It’s also constantly telling you to buy the upgrade, and the interface sucks too. Just use MuseScore on your PC. For the developer: you could add a feature where users can watch an ad and get premium features for a bit (after that you’d have to watch another ad) so people don’t have to pay but you still get money.

Great!. This app is pretty good! It’s easy to use. Expensive though. It’s like 13.99 to get basic needs such as time signature and bpm. Could you add breath marks and the ability to put in lyrics too? Also a "voice" option for the instrument would be great!

too many pubs. too many ads to try quietly the free version. I deleted right away. give us a break!

Good. I honestly want another background colour. But. So far so good.

How about lyrics?. Like the app but would be nice if we could write lyrics in it... Also, the way the app counts note values/ duration limits the rhythms you can put in.

.... I rated 5 stars to unlock something

Kinda limited. Meh

Loving it. Love this app so far

If I can I’d give it no star. The app does not allow me exit the subscription page. It sucks.

Disappointed. Worked great at first but now it when I open the app it automatically sends me to this subscription page and won’t let me get out of it unless I get the premium

Noice. Good

How bout money hungry. Lol you can’t do anything, if you want to use it, you gotta pay 8,99 a month, lol.

Very nice. Doesn’t need premium to access basic features or time limit on free version)

Ehhh. Only doing this to u lock something, i dont think its all that.

Don’t know. Done

Good. It’s A Really nice app But I don’t like that You need to Pay for Extra Instruments

Great App!!. So easy to use!! It’s great for my iPad! Love it

Notation Pad. Where is 8va?

Hahahahaha 9$ a week. What a scam.. Honestly. Barely works to start with, then you need to pay 8.99$ a WEEK to use this bad app..

Im only doing this cuz yall told me to. Yo

Charged. I had deleted this app before the one week trial was over and still got charged for it. I would appreciate it if I could be given an email to see if I could get my money back. Thanks

I would give it 0 stars if possible. This app is horrible, I was looking for a free app that I could find sheet music for Clarinet and Piano and I have heard great things about this app and some people said it was free for them. When I got onto the app it took me to this page and then 10 seconds later the subscription page. I was really disappointed that I couldn’t get more time to explore.

Wow!amazing!. It's great to have such a app to let me write my ideas out!

Really frustrating. The sheer amount of ads that comes up is ridiculous. The number of time that “sign up for premium” pops up is also infuriating. It’s also bewildering why a button in the app leads to the App Store for a download of another app by the same developer. It made me think I needed another app to fully work this one which was weird. Then the second app also leads you to a third app, at which point is just absurd since both the apps are not worth your time. One of the most non-intuitive composing apps. Move on, don’t waste your time.

Notation pad. It’s well made.

good. it good

Great. To exit subscription page just click on the “continue with a limited version” text above the buy button.

Idk, doing it for the free theme. It wasn’t able to connect to the internet, I’m just trying to find music to practice my playing

Subscription??. I subscribed 2 weeks ago and this week it’s saying that I “need premium to access these features.” I clicked start now and it said I already had premium!

Too many ads and the subscription page keeps popping up but can’t close it.. Too many ads and the subscription page keeps popping up but can’t close it.

Wow. Nice

Current Ratings. I really like it, because it’s free. Ari gato!

very good. It’s very useful for me

Needs More Than C maj. but it’s cool!. I’m not paying for premium, however the free version is WONDERFUL! Sure, I can only use 4/4 and C maj. but I can convert!!!!! I love all the options, even 128th notes! I can also use it for my band rehearsals because I’ll know how I’m supposed to sound!! Never thought an app like this could be so cool!

They forced me to rate 5 stars to unlock features! 😂. No idea if it’s good yet. But don’t trust the five star rating! 😉

Awesome. 👍🏻

Yotus. Yeeeeet

AWESOME!!!!. This app rocks!!! I am an amazing pianist now because of you guys! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!

$40 a month!?!. Have you lost your minds? Developers like this need are the reason the App Store is flailing.

Good but pricey. The app seems great to write music and listen to them, but to be able to edit the tempo clef etc you have to pay 9.99 a week which is kinda expensive for what you get. The only reason I didn’t rate it a 1 star was because of how good it is and could be, if it wasn’t so expensive.

Mauvais!. Gratuit oui... mais peu importe ce qu’on veut faire, ah... faut payer!!!! On ne peut pratiquement rien faire! Vraiment très très basique!!

Cool. Not bad Too many ads tho

VERY disappointing. The instant I download this, it forces me to the premium page which I CANNOT exit out of. I just want to make music, so please fix this.

Si. Si

An amazing composing app!. You can get a full music composing experience without paying a penny! (As long as you like piano) I’ve made some pretty fun pieces that I’ve liked a lot on this app. If I have gripe about it it is that you can’t transfer songs from devices as far as I know, but if I knew how to do that I would have 0 problems! A great app

Only rated 5 for the unlock. To unlock certain features, you have to rate it five stars. I actually don’t have a problem with the app yet since I just got it but it’s sad that they are bribing us with this instead of working to provide a quality product and EARNING a five star rating.

Immediately had to pay. I was very excited to find this app but should have known from in app purchases that I would have to pay. Just as I created a new document and went to the settings of it, no sooner had I clicked on the tempo then a notification popped up informing that to use most of the features I would have to pay $9.99. For many I’m sure this is a great app and works just fine once you pay, but I’m on a budget and was quite disappointed.

Just Why?. The second time I entered the app it prompted me to buy a subscription which isn’t that bad but you can’t close it. I tried to close the subscription tab but you have to buy the $28 per month subscription to use the app more than once. I wouldn’t recommend. All I wanted to do on it was arrange “Feel Good Inc” for my small school jazz band because our band teacher who is resigning at the end of the year and all the band wants to honor him on the last day.

Help. The app is fine but I’m not sure how to add sharps and flats to the notes or put it in a certain key signature. It’s hard to edit scores and that’s why I gave it 3 stars. I spend time trying to figure out how to do something and get nowhere with it. I just think it should be easier to navigate and there are too many ads but I can deal with that so it’s not a big deal.

They Made Me Rate It Before Using it. I’m confused on how you are asking for a rating and i just opened the app. I went to change the background and you’re stating i have to leave a review before I get to simply change the color of my background. I hope this app is decent enough.

Promising start, but take the word PAD seriously.. There is no easier way to enter notes, period. Note entry: 5 STARS. Great for quick SIMPLE ideas Sadly, the more i use it the worse it is. I started at 4 stars, then edited to 3, now I am down to 2 stars and regretting my purchase. MANY buttons don't work, many problems with voicing, slurs don't work, NO ERASE BUTTON, undo button works but use it soon or it costs dearly. Needs midi import and easier way to edit and add parts to imported xml files. Support in nonexistent with no contact info that i can find. But for starting from a blank page there is no easier way to enter notes. Best for simple melody lines without layered voicings. Without midi import I'll use it less than i hoped, or have to transcribe EVERY thing i arrange. Please fix this, its such a great start. So fast and easy for the basic things it does.

Smh. This app used to be good, but now whoever this developer is so cheap and greedy, you can’t even use the app without an ad everytime you change a screen, and to even have basic necessities like to be able to change the voicing, key sig., and other things, you have to pay for the “pro” version, which is just the “here have all the things you need I guess” version for $8 a WEEK. that’s $416 a year you have to shell out just to get basic access to a music composition app with honestly, really bad sound files for instruments

Good App but where’s the exit button?. I want to use this app for free but every time I press “V1”, the app will keep on asking me to buy its’ in-app purchase. This would be fine if there WAS an exit button for the in-app purchase. I closed the app but the very next time I open the app, the in-app purchase appears once more. Still no exit button. CAN YOU PLEASE ADD AN EXIT BUTTON! I have to re-downland the app everytime that in-app purchase appears!

Premium😒. I downloaded the app to check to see how something sounded for my music theory class. Easy enough. I watch the tutorial, and it’s helpful. I think I’m ready to start when it shows me a pop up for their premium subscription with NO X BUTTON!!!! Literally I left the app, refreshed and it will not go away. I go to see the price of their premium and it says $60. I wasn’t even able to start the process of writing my music.

Decent. We can’t delete symbols such as codas or repeats, only individual notes, once we leave the piece of music and come back. This is very limiting in music writing. Also, you can’t change the background color unless you leave a review even if you pay the $9.99 for the full version of the app, which doesn’t seem to actually give you much more than the free version.

#! A Mazing!. Been using the free app for a few hours (30, not quite a week yet!) and its interface is quite simple and intuitive. Am interested -at current time- in Saxophone etudes. I can care less about the bass clef. I am reserved about going to the pop ups free version though as I am not certain this bass clef off option exist. Let me know!

does, as promised... but. description for software suggests you get a lot in the free version... and you do. but the many instruments (beyond grand piano) and tempo control, etc. comes with the $9.99 version. / strange 'video tutorial' sans audio needs help.... there should be a 'users guide' somewhere instead. trial and error method adds a layer of time-consuming complexity the eager user doesn't need. / the video ads... --very nicely done... but the wait-5-seconds to dump out of em gets a bit tedious... especially in the trial-and-error learning mode. / --positioning of the ads: irritating. seems like they showup when you least expect them. / Mr Software designer...! --u wont make friends --or customers that way. // a good program, albeit it cumbersome and frustrating right from the start....

It’s great but.... I mean I love this app, it allows me to create music without restraints. But what do I do if someone took my creation and set it as there own?, is there a way to ban or delete that user? I mean they didn’t even credit me. I would like this problem (if possible) to be fixed. And my account is kindsans, the person who stole my music was June_L, and the theme stolen was The Unknown Explainer.

Needs a few adjustments. This is a great app and I recommend it, however it's missing a few things. Also, you have to pay for a lot of stuff, like changing the time and key signatures, or the beats per minute. Also, the ads kind of ruin it a bit, every time you click on something, an add pops up. As I said, overall a great app- just needs some adjustments.

PLEASE READ. I used to use this app all the time, and wrote fun music on the free version... as a high schooler not able to buy it. I wanted to get back on it because it is actually really fun, but it won’t let me get to my old scores... all it shows me is a stupid premium add with no X out of it. I hate how this changed into something that I can’t even listen to my old work with out paying a horrendous amount per month.

Can’t share. It was nice until I tried to share ! It says error and it does not send a midi and can’t open it on finale ! I mean this app I paid the full version ($15) and can’t share it which is the whole purpose of getting it ! Iwritemusic app is what I used before and I change because it can’t import music ! Anyways I saw another version of this app Notation pad Pro and that is another ($15) !! Maybe sharing will work on that version !!!

Rip off. I have been paying for 3 weeks, for the unlimited version. I’m a music student, I started the subscription so I can use it when needed. I need it now and when I go to the app and see it’s still “limited” and it’s asking me to buy the unlimited version. So I’ve been paying 8 dollars a week, for nothing?! And there’s no way to contact them. Not on the app or website. I’m not one to leave reviews, but this is ridiculous. I’m going to have to complain to the app Store about this now to get my money back.

5 start to unlock an in app item?. How is it that you're allowed to link a 5 start review to an in app purchase. Seems like a disservice to the community. That being said I haven't used the app yet, I just wanted to change the paper color then the prompt to review for unlock appeared.

Fantastic App!. I really love this music software. It’s so simple and easy to use, and I believe it’s the best sheet music software for mobile out there as of now. There is one striking problem though, and it is the 8 staff limit. For the love of god, PLEASE raise the limit at least 3 or 4 more spaces higher. As someone who enjoys creating and transposing various works of music, the 8 staff limit is a pain to deal with, so please resolve this issue ASAP! Sincerely ~ Notation Pad Customer

Limited and/or not user friendly. I need to be able to change clefs in the middle of the piece and there appears to be no such option. Also I can’t see an option to keep duplicating the same measure. No 8va or shortcut keys. I mean, they may exist, but I can’t find them. So you need a better support section or make it easier to use because it’s way too limited and I cancelled after writing a few measures.

Good app but somethings missing. This app is really good to show off your imagination through music. I love the app to make songs to play and gives me something to do when Im board. But (unless I just don't know where it is) theres no D.C al. Fine and the other things like that. Please tell me if I'm wrong and it is in the game and if it isn't in the app then please add it sooner than later.

Absolute garbage. The second it knows that you aren’t gonna pay $23 freakin dollars for an app it doesn’t let you do anything. I understand that they don’t want everything to be available if you aren’t gonna pay for it, but the only thing that you can do is place notes down, can’t change the tempo, can’t change the key, and I don’t know about you but I’m not gonna put an accidental on every note. They need to make more available or bring down that nasty price. And the adds are every few seconds and I just can’t. I don’t mean to sound like a Karen but this app disgusted me.

Great for Fundamentals. If you are looking for something that can get you the melodic interpretation up to tempo, I’d highly recommend this app. The dynamics are shaky, however for a mobile app one can’t expect to have everything perfect. Be reminded it is in MIDI, so again melodic interpretation is amazing, dynamics not so much.

I hate it. I tried using this as something to use when I can’t use my laptop and it was NOT what I was looking for. I’m already paying for a music writer and my laptop and in order to do a lot of basic things you need to pay. It’s difficult to use. Slurs are very difficult to place and it is hard to delete a note, once you tap it you need to wait 5 seconds. There should be an undo button. I HATE this app and will never use it again. It was a complete let down.

Not useful for my needs. Not a bad app for the single task of slapping down notes in a legible format, but to fill the needs for which I tried the app, it would require me to spend 4x the amount I paid initially for every. single. other. app. this developer offers to complete the objective! Some of the other weird idiosyncrasies of the app sealed it’s coffin for me. Weigh carefully what you need to do, because it does that one thing well. Just don’t ask it to do anything else...at all.

Great For Compositions. I have utilized this app for compositions for a solid amount of time and I must say it has become my favorite. It’s easy to use interface and wide variety choices and options is only one of the great things about it. After using the app for a short time I purchased some of the features which enhanced the experience. Recommend it.

Awesome!. I love this app! For a teenager interested in writing small, simple songs in my down time, this app is perfect. It has all the things you need to start writing music, and its super easy to use. Premium features cost money, but you can easily use the app without them, so its not a big issue.

Great app, but. I love this app, but it is a little hard to write pieces for large groups. Because when you put a bunch of instruments like an entire band, you can’t see the names of the instruments on the bars which makes it super easy to get mixed up. Would be awesome if they could import that, like putting “Clar.” In front of a line that’s a clarinet.

Tedious. I don’t see the point in not putting scales in the free version. In the end it’s just making it tedious for people that can’t purchase the full version. Especially since we can put sharps and flats already. Other than that this is a pretty good app. I haven’t seen another one like it. I’m even considering buying the full version. 5 stars:)

Free version is useless. Trying to write out a percussion part and downloaded this app. With the free version, you can't change the time signature (only 4/4 available), the speed (only 120 bpm), the instrument (only piano/harpsichord/etc.), the clef, the VOLUME, you can't have multiple endings to repeats, and you can't change the key signature. So if you are looking to write a piece in 4/4 for piano in the key of C major at 120 bpm, this app is for you. Sadly, it's isn't really for me.

Good when it works. Seems like it’s really buggy, and I need to restart the app every time. Very frustrating especially for an app you need to paid for! I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with the latest iOS. Wish they would solve the issues. Also, would be nice to have the option to have change stem directions on the notes (good for SATB choral composition).

Basic features locked behind paywall. It seems to have a fairly intuitive interface, and the premium version may actually be functional. However, the ability to write music in a key signature with sharps or flats and the ability to compose in a time signature that’s not 4/4 is fundamental, and the fact that you have to pay for premium to do this is unacceptable. I could understand if features like changing clefs, time signatures, or key signatures in the middle of a piece were locked in then free version, but as is, the free app is useless for any real composing.

pretty limited. your allowed to do only a limited number of time signatures...which is not the best, but for a free app thats what you’re gonna get. I recommend getting the “paid” version of this app because it has less restrictions. Overall great app and I would recommend this to a friend needing a song-writing app.

Can you add other instruments like say maybe a harp. Can you please add some other instruments like maybe Harp would be nice and also some Harp notation like glissandi would be nice harmonics key changes and some other stuff that most harpists use I want to be able to write for the heart not only piano just Harp can be pedal harp Celtic Harp as long as it's a Harp I want to be able to write for it I love classical music but seriously add some Harp sounds and Harp notes including pedal settings and other things for the Harp thanks

It’s good but not great. Complicated when need to insert in between scores. Would be nice if you can insert in between, select a note and replace, move note left and right (can only move up and down). But I am using only the lite version. I don’t know what’s available in the pro version. 5 stars if you can make edits easier.

Too limited.... It helps me a lot on my piano songs! Just one problem... The tempo is a lot too slow for most of my songs. Can you make the tempo change, and the different keys free pls. Other than that, it’s good. I’m also hoping to learn sheet music from this app so I can play piano reading sheet music. It’s my dream to become a piano player! Anyway, I will go with three stars for now because of how limited it is with the free trial.

Notation pad. What a piece of crap. This company is unresponsive. They charge you monthly for this useless app with no visible way to opt out. I’ve tried several time unsuccessfully to find any interactive support. The company website is a static page with no real useful information. I will complain to Apple to remove this and their other products.

Overall DECENT. There is no way to add true drums or other percussion noises even when you buy the percussive package, I’ve been trying to find a way to add hand claps or a whistle to a song ive been working on but just doesnt exist. If a developer can help me figure this out that’d be lovely but until then I can only give 3 stars. You’re better off notating with Symphony or MuseScore until this is fixed.

Not good for writing with instruments. I bought the full version and I started writing songs with it. I was trying to make harmonies with saxophone, french horn, and trumpet and I started writing using the actual pitches that the instruments use but the only way it sounds in harmony is if they all play the same note. An F on horn should not sound like an F on Saxophone or trumpet. I saw another rating that said this same problem and the developer said they would fix it. Developers please get back to me about this.

Free. Please make it so the subscription is free so everyone won’t have to pay money for it and everyone has more fun with it and so everyone does not have to constantly put sharps and flats and they can have everything for writing scores.

Stuck on upgrade screen with NO WAY OUT!. This app is great, right up until you accidentally click on an upgrade-related part of this app. There’s literally no way out unless you delete the app, simply closing it doesn’t work. Please fix this and I’ll give it 5 stars!

Coercion. I have barely opened the app. I wanted to change the background color so it would be easier on my eyes. I was blocked from doing this until I gave the app a 5 star or otherwise positive review. Seriously; I'm not making this up! So I actually don't have a clue as to whether I will like this app or not. My first impression though......

It’s a really good app since it’s free (question). This is a really good app for composing music and it’s very simple to understand :) I do have one question though, when I’m adding notes and want to add a sharp or flat it won’t go in sometimes and just turns the note blue it’s very frustrating . Is there something I can do to fix it or am I found something wrong :/

Nice but a lot of features locked behind paywall. Just simple essential features which is really a shame since now my music does not sound right at all at 120 bpm, or certain keys or time signatures. Overall great design, graphics, controls. Will probably switch to a different app soon though.

It’s Amazing. I have made so many beautiful songs on this incredibly amazing app. I have learned how to write music through the power of this app. And instead of wasting my time scrolling through social media I am now spending hours creating songs!

Completely useless without very expensive subscription. I only wanted to make simple scores as a learning musician and composer. However, I don’t need all the advanced features. But many buttons take you back to the App Store and then you have to watch another add to start again. And even really basic functions like changing the tempo are not part of the limited version. You also can’t move notes, you have to delete and re insert notes. And $30/mo seems very high for a program subscription.

Trial version is unusable. Who knows it may be a great app, but the free trial is unusable. You click to see how all the settings work and it takes you to the App Store to purchase. Click to change tempo and get redirected to purchase. You think you can just annoy me to death to make me purchase it out of frustration? I’m not doing that. I do still have pencil and paper. If I can’t even really try out the features without annoyingly being re-directed, then I will never know how well this app works. And I am okay with that.

Fix the adds. I got this app to write a song for a school project, and it worked just fine. Then I came back and tried to write another song, but when you create a song a add will shortly pop up and then it will kick you out of the app. I don’t know if this is a problem with other people, but the adds just kick me out whenever I try to create a new song.

Great app. Easy to use you can write music in different clefs and can transpose the only thing is I couldn’t find the baritone/Euphonium for parts I needed but I honestly love this app FYI thou you do need to pay for extra instruments and other features because when you first download ur only allowed to use piano instruments
