Fantastic app. Easy to navigate and go through matches which shows you on which matches with close family matches, relatives who share common ancestors and DNA connections. Also shows the how you are connected with DNA and approximate relationship connection. You can also check the familiar surname you share with DNA and can research the connection

C Botha. After my ethnicity estimate already reached 100% .... your app still shows another ethnicity - with minus 1% !!! Shocking.

DNA app review. I much preferred the original version.

DNA mother/ father side. Having done father/son DNA when searching through profiles it used to tell you the relationship for each parent, given I only had my fathers DNA it would say fathers side and anything other person would be mothers side. The iPad app I use no longer distinguishes those relationships.

App crashing after last bug fix. Since the update at the start of March 2022, the app won’t open or work on iPhone with iOS 15.3.1

DNA. Some exciting results and new contacts. New relatives i was unaware of.

Why. Why can’t I see all of the reviews?

Unable to sign in. Already have an active Ancestry account and have no trouble signing in on my browser. Unable to sign in using this App.

The Journey. What a journey of discovery. Distant relative to a former US President.

Hopeless. I can’t seem to find DNA matches’ trees, I can’t search by place, everything has been changed so much in the app that it makes me want to give up. This is an excellent way to stop mr wasting so much time on Ancestry.com, so maybe that’s a plus.

Now designed for dabbling not serious research. I used to be able to use the DNA Matches function in the Ancestry App to great effect. What’s left there is now useless, and so is this separate Ancestry DNA App. I can’t see my notes unless I open a miniscule Notes icon, and only then whilst in an individual match. I could previously see my notes even on the matches list, and these notes are crucial to me managing and querying my matches. So is the capacity to check Shared Matches for each match in an easy way. This is now lumped in under a tiny Compare icon with less important comparative ethnicity percentages, and no ability to see the notes associated with the shared matches that enable one to determine which part of the family the match is from. This App might seem ok to new users who just want a bit of entertainment, but it is simply not up to the task of allowing users to research and manage their DNA matches.

Paying money with no access. Shocking app; can’t sign in and paying good money. Only way i can access my DNA matches is via my laptop. Not very convenient when researching my genealogy while visiting family. Please fix.

Ancestry stories. This app sends stories about ancestors supposedly related to you...only one problem..the link to verify the relationship won’t work..no way to know if these stories are just fiction

My review. Since downloading I have not been able to get it to sign in. I am paying money every moth for something I can’t access. To post this I have to put a nickname. I have tried three. All already in use. Why? Stupid. Want to give up. Is that the purpose?

You don’t get what you pay for. The data is minimal about where ethnicities are from and the connections are awful because it doesn’t show potential for which relative comes fro where even after distinguishing where many come from leaving you to do the work you pay them for, it scratches the surface of what they can give you and then hey ask for ask for more money for other things also, I just hate it. 23 & me is no better, it’s a lot of money and you don’t receive a lot of info it’s very very disappointing.

For Americans it seems. All the search files are on US citizens, none of my family immigrated to the US, all the info on Italians are about Italian immigration to the US and nothing about immigration to Canada.

Cancelling. I have cancelled this trial, and it won’t take, says I don’t have a subscription but won’t let me download other apps from the App Store till this is cancelled? Wth

Poor implementation. New app is poor substitute for browser access to ancestry.

I need HELP finding my family .. I

USE THE WEBSITE. Use the Ancestry website on a computer or even ur phone… but do not use this app. The site shows more detailed information that may even vary compared to what the app shows… really stupid. Don’t use this

Needs improvement. Would like be able to view matches in common from the app, it’s pretty useless with out this feature.

No new functionality. I don’t understand what this is for, there is no new functionality. Along with making the main app worse there is now no reason to do anything but use the web site in a browser. That has been better for a while and this just confirms it.

Strange.... Both my parents are on here but we don’t share the same ancestry?? Also we are not white but all there is on here is white ancestry???

Quite underwhelming. I was excited to find this app, however I was extremely underwhelmed. Half the homepage is taken up by advertising their DNA service. Bit confused by this, as the people using it have likely already had it done. Anyway, that aside, the app can’t do anything that the normal Ancestry site cannot do. In fact, it’s probably best to use the site or you could end up going backwards and forwards between the two. I’m afraid the Ancestry app and the DNA app leave a lot to be desired.

DNA Match Search. App no longer allows a thorough search of DNA matches. Would have preferred that it wasn't changed.

Full of promise but lacking in substance. This app does not appear to update. Several weeks ago, my mother received email notification that her sample had been received but the app has not updated for this step. The same issue appears with my login. All the bells & whistles but lacking in connectivity.

Useless - access using Safari instead. This app has very little of the functionality that is available on the website. I deleted it and went back to using Safari to access ancestry.com DNA functions.

Finding Family Members, through DNA Results.. It is really interesting to find Family Members, through submitting a saliva sample. When I googled it, it gave that the Information is 99 per cent accurate. I have found a few Family Members so far, through The Ancestry.

Important functionality lost. Ancestry DNA has been moved out of the old Ancestry App to Ancestry DNA. Many of the original functions have been lost (or are so well hidden that I can’t find them): switching between DNA samples, filtering matches and other advanced search strategies, grouping matches, etc. Where is Thrulines? I will have to go back to the web browser version for my match analysis.

DNA app is terrible. Ancestry, what were you thinking?. This app must have been made by someone that doesn’t actually do genealogy. I am so disappointed! The old app worked so well. You no longer easily see your common ancestor. To look at a match’s tree it opens on the internet. When you look at a match it focuses on ethnicity. All my careful colour coding is there, but you can no longer hover over it to see what they are, or read your notes. Now you have to search for the area these codes are stored. What a huge mistake this is. Hate it!

Update to App. This App went through a redesign which made it less user friendly. What a colossal waste of time and resources. I am able to see a lovely list of 1-4 cousins with minor details and a green button for their tree. A tree which I am now unable to access. I used to be able to, and now I can’t. How am I supposed to use this as a research tool? Really disappointed that it has been made harder to use. Very poor customer experience.
