ToneStack App Description & Overview

What is tonestack app? ToneStack is the ultimate UNIVERSAL app for signal processing: with the LARGEST and BEST selection of AMPS & FX, the latest advancements in modeling technology, and an unbelievably powerful yet simple interface – it simply shreds all the other guys.

Thanks to ToneStack's state-of-the-art “Virtual Circuit” technology, each ToneStack unit is the digital mirror image of a real analog topology. Unlike other FX apps that try to copycat with EQing and other gimmicks, ToneStack recreates the intricate designs of the real thing. The result is a warm, responsive tone with the natural behavior you find in analog units.

Best Selection of Pro Amps & FX

ToneStack offers a huge range of amps, cabs & FX: from sparkly clean to sizzling hot bias tube amps, iconic stompboxes, pro-grade rack units, and high-end reverbs, ToneStack is the most complete plugin suite on the iOS.

Right away, enjoy 6 classic amps & cabs, and 21 meticulously designed FX. Expand to a total of 46 amps, 44 cabs, and 101 FX – the largest collection on iOS.

ToneStack also brings many powerful guitar FX to the iOS for the first time: polyphonic octaver, harmonizer, realistic spring reverbs, virtual-reel tape delays are just a few examples.

The Most Versatile Signal Chain on iOS

Why be limited with just 4 or 8 FX that other guys max you out at? ToneStack lets you run a whopping 64 amps & effects simultaneously* so you can let your imagination run wild.

For even more power, ToneStack includes our unique original ABY unit. Split your signal anywhere: run dual amp setups, switch or blend FX chains, or multiplex your signal via frequency splitting – countless permutations, all up to you.

You can match any amp with any cab (all cabs have 3 mics with distance & position settings); you can insert any unit anywhere – even between amps and cabs like a true FX loop. Managing your signal chain is as easy as dragging and dropping an icon!

inSTUDIO & Other Goodies

Wanna quickly jam out an idea, or cut a song and share it? ToneStack offers a powerful 8-Track recorder – first two tracks free — with plenty of user-friendly features. Fire up the built-in Tapedeck to quickly record an idea or create loops, or manipulate audio with its Hi-Q pitch & time shift. Import & export audio via email, WiFi, iTunes or copy/paste. Built-in tuner, metronome and a custom onSTAGE mode are just a few other amazing ToneStack features.

All the Pro Features of iOS

Enjoy the full power of the platform’s top MIDI and Preset systems. MIDI learn is super-intuitive thanks to ToneStack's WYSIWYG interface: all the amp & FX controls are MIDI-programmable. Effortlessly create UNLIMITED banks and presets – share them at the touch of a button. ToneStack is an Inter-App Audio effect, and works in any Audiobus slot. Truly spectacular and glorious. As a garageband owner I have enjoyed their guitar amps, but I had no idea tonestack would be the end all and be all. This is, no doubt, the greatest app I have ever owned. I can just plug in and play these astounding amps and effects for hours. As an electric guitar player I would normally quibble, BUT I’M NOT EVEN GOING TO QUIBBLE. Hats off to Yonac.

Simply THE BEST!. Save your time and $$ and get this wonderful App and the great add-ons you want to use with it. You won't be disappointed! These guys KNOW what they're doing and produce truly great products. As a Songwriter/ Musician, I've been recording in Pro Tools and Logic for the past 15 years. I decided to start using an iPad for my project ideas and portability and have to say that this App is at the core of my music. The sounds from this App rival the sounds I get micing my Marshall & Mesa Tube Amps and I'll probably end up using the tracks in PT & Logic for my final mixes. The beautiful, streamlined interface is VERY user friendly and if you need Tech Support it's actually there. You Get What You Pay For!

Blown away. I am using this in combination with a Roland Duo-Capture EX to provide a virtual fx rack for my Minimoog XL. I really only needed the custom shop studio bundle along with the Cosmic Echo as I'm a keyboardist. So for a minimal investment I'm completely set. Very cool how you can pick and choose what matters most for your needs. Will be getting the 8 track next for sure. Amazing stuff, recommend all their apps

Sorry, not liking it. Too many effects disabled. Not intuitive to use. Sounds ok, but not that great. Over-hyped, in my opinion.

Pocket Guitar Effects Suite. So I love analog effects and tubes and vintage gear. I have spent too much money on things my skill level doesn't deserve. What Yonac has made here is truly breath taking. The sound quality of these effects are the best out of all the iOS apps, yes I bought them all, yes they are all good, this is the best. The effects are so good that sometimes when I'm recording using waves plugins (guitar tool kit) on Logic Pro, I think to myself, I wish I could use Yonac's ToneStack in Logic Pro, no joke that has crossed my mind several times. If they make a plugin pack for logic I will buy it. There is a downside to this, it can be a major distraction when it comes to productivity during practice, I usually end up just jamming with myself and doing layering on layering on layering and not actually practicing, and that is because the delays and reverbs are truly incredible. This full suite is well worth the price for any fellow effects lover, it's just truly fun. Things that don't work very well? Wah's, Whammy, really anything that uses a midi expression pedal, and that's just cuz midi expression pedals are not as smooth as real ones, unless someone knows of a better one I should be using, please tell me! bottom line: If you like playing with guitar effects, buy this and an iRig Pro or Apogee Jam to go with it. Turns your phone into a pedal board that fits in your pocket. P.S. I have done a few live shows using just my iPhone running ToneStack and a midi foot pedal switch and plugging into the venues PA. Every time other guitarists onsite are blown away by the tone and effects I get out of a 40 dollar app. Truly this thing is incredible.

All you needs is your guitar and a proper interface.. Your Guitar, an iPhone with ToneStack, a good set of earphones or an amp with an interface and you ha e a vast array of sounds at your fingertips. The effects offered highly outnumbers the effects from most music DAWs away. The days of lugging gear to a gig are over. Great job!

My favorite iOS guitar rig. I tried several products like this, I find it easier to dial in my sound with ToneStack

Great all purpose guitar app. The standard version comes with a solid array of gear to use. The extra gear is also reasonably priced. I do wish there was a try before you buy feature, but they often put gear packages on sale as a bonus.

Excellent. I use Bias and I love it, but I read about this and thought I'd check it out at the introductory price. So far it's a great modeling app with many nice options even in the base setup. By far the most impressive and standout feature is the ABY splitter, which lets you set up separate chains for left and right channels. I've just started to dig into this, but the possibilities seem endless, mixing different amps, cabs, and effects across the left and right, and having the ability to control the separation. The preset chains give you great examples of the potential of ABY. Try it, you'll get hooked. One thing I would love is the ability to control the AB pan with an expression pedal...

Love it!. Amazing app. Just what I was looking for... easy, clean, straight forward interface with a bunch of effects pedals (I bought the bundle version 3). I'm really impressed with how much useful stuff is in this app... the tuner, the backing track, the mixer, the way you can add pedals and move the order... save presets ... and the "on stage mode". Mind blown.

Great for practice and live use!. I'm using this with a BlueBoard and not only has it been ridiculously convenient, but it also sounds INCREDIBLE. The BlueBoard needs button 'A' remapped to control '1' instead of the default '0' for ToneStack to recognize the CC, but after that it was smooth sailing. The 'mix' knob on the ABY pedal is mapped to a single button on the BB so I can switch between 2 signal paths (clean or dirty) by just toggling that button. Other buttons are mapped to delays and boosts. My expression pedal is hooked up to a wah and, with 'state control' enabled, turns off when completely heel down. The other expression input on the BB has a tiny DIY momentary switch that is connected to tap tempo in ToneStack. This rig is perfect for my needs: portable, lightweight (bad back), and sounds awesome. Yonac knows what they are doing.

This app is a ripoff!. I bought this app after I downloaded the free ToneStack go. Using ToneStack go I purchased a rotary effect pedal. You would think that the $9.99 version ToneStack would recognize that I had purchased this pedal. But no. It requires me to purchase it again. Also for a $9.99 app it offers an extremely small amount of effects, amps, etc. and on top of it all, I asked for my money back from the App Store but it told me that ToneStack is no available for refunds. I can assure you that I will never purchase anything from this developer. They are not very nice. They should at least give me my money back if I’m not happy with the product. Ripoff!!!

Criminally underrated, amongst competition from great apps, ToneStack may be iOS's best amp modeler. Because Amplitube has licensed name brands like Fender and Marshall, it seems to get the most attention. BIAS and JamUp Pro used excellent sounds and extreme customization to become an iOS guitarists favorite. Amplitube to me is more sizzle than steak, it looks great but the sounds aren't happening. BIAS/JamUp has some incredible tones for a digital amp sim but the extra amps, bundles and BIAS FX are really quite pricey and not all of the amps & effects are as good as the best the amp delivers. But this amp modeler ToneStack is something different...first off, the pricing is very good, especially during the sale that was on when I bought the app and complete expansion bundle for well below what BIAS FX's entry price point is with zero expansion packs. Secondly, the array of believable, and most importantly, useable amp tones is staggering. The app that comes closest to ToneStacks brilliant sound quality is Peavey's Ampkit which is another underrated gem. I have Amplitube with complete add-ons, JamUpPro & BIAS and Ampkit with all the add-ons loaded on my Air 2 and to me adding ToneStack wasn't overkill or a waste of dough. This app just does some things better than those others do. As a guitarist who digs editing sounds and having lots of options to work with, ToneStack is a brilliant guitar tool that is much more than just another "app".

Ridiculous value. You can argue differences between amplitube/jamup/ampkit etc., they all have their pluses and minuses - tonestack is up with the best of them - and imo, gives you a lot more options and bang for the $. It really comes down to how you use it. But just consider; the whole thing cost less than a single pedal - just own it.

The Best!. I've been trying to find a good amp sim for 10+ years, including various hardware modelers. I've tried all the iOS apps and this leaves them in the dust; I've yet to find a better, organic 'tube' sound and have drawn compliments using this for open mics. The only nits: while it is possible to save/share settings, the app doesn't have any kind of community feature to faciliate sharing presets (the company's forum has a thread for this, but it isn't very active). I also wish there were a way to get ToneStack on my Mac!

The best!. The best amp and effects app on iOS!

The best out there!. Forget amplitude, forget ampkit, jamup. This is what you are looking for. It is so simple to use! The sounds are amazing and you can use it in Reaper without having too use it like a plug in. Works with Audiobuss too. I plugged in my guitar and found presets that made me sound amazing. You can't beat the price and the selections of sound that come pre installed in this app. This is a must have.

Question. What is the difference between ToneStack and ToneStack Go?

It works with Audiobus.... I had to search this app out after Bias and related apps stopped working with IOS 8. I prefer the sound to Bias, and it works beautifully as an inter-app plug in in Auria. A little pricey, but they've put the time in to make it work with the new IOS, and I record nearly every day-so...they earned my money by keeping up. I have found the Yonac apps to be very well made overall. Nice work folks!

Good sounding Guitar app. I will echo Gitarzz words: The noise gate is horrible, doesn't do a whole lot. I can't figure out if I can dial in some heavy tones because it is always squealing and screaching with high gain amps and distortion pedals. I love the always on tuner, that is very cool. I feel that the sounds/effects are a bit, ?? electronic sounding? I still prefer JamUp Pro to anything out there, the sound quality is second to none. But, for the intro price, the base of the app is very very good.

Something got fixed and now it’s awesome. Edit: after the update to iOS 11, everything is working and it is awesome. I use this now. Old post: I have to restore purchases every time I open it. Every. Single. Time. I use Jam Up Pro for this reason. Normally I love Yonac apps, but this problem has been here since the 2.0 update.

I’m blown away. Great sounding App!. I have been waiting for the sale on the mother load and bundles and got them and they are amazing!!! I’m a producer/keyboard player who plays guitar for “fun” but don’t consider myself a pro by any mean but I do have heard and played with MANY amp sims going back to the original line6 POD years ago and I really think the amp and Stomp sims are outstanding in tonestack. I haven’t played a lot since earlier this year and took it out and hooked up to tonestack and played for like 3 hours till my fingers were sore ! So much fun trying different Amps and stomps! I then ran my montage clavinet wound through the wah and cranked a Marshall with delay wow what a sound. Can’t wait to incorporate tonestack into my live rig and start playing again! Thanks YONAC!

Great sound, fun looks. I've purchased most of the guitar amp and effects sims for iPad and iPhone, including JamUp Pro, its successor Bias FX, and Flying Haggis. The sound of this one is up there with the best of them, and it keeps improving. The reproduction of the Boss chorus pedal is the best I've found on an iPad. The two Motherlodes are a great way to explore the history of guitar amps and effects in seemingly infinite combinations. I also like the look of the individual units and their witty names. Thank you, Jim Yonac, for this wonderful instrument.

Ver 2 is a big upgrade. Great app. Edited.. After a week of using this app, having had a chance to delve into every amp and effect I can't speak more highly it. This app is a must have now. Out of all the guitar amp & effect apps, there are about 7 that are worth considering. Tonestack previously was in the middle of the pack. With this latest version upgrade they improved everything, but especially two areas where it was weak. Poor high gain sounds and a delay between switching presets that made it unusable for changing sounds in a song when playing live. Now this app in my opinion is the best of its kind. Definitely worth getting. Lastly I have to give kudos to the developer for providing a reasonable price upgrade path for existing owners.

Very Dissapointed. The basic version deos not even come with a useable Delay! Only a Echoplex immitation that sounds like crap. The 2.0 and 3.0 presets are unuseable in the basic package because they require in app purchases. For the amount of money they want for the extras, I could buy a Real Pedalboard. Ten dollars for one effect??? Don't waste your time or money on this unless all you need are a few so so sounding rigs!

Best iOS guitar rig by far. For some reason everyone seems to assume these days that Bias/Jamup Pro/Bias FX are the best, end of discussion. I have all the Positive Grid apps and while they are certainly good, they are not untouchable. Tonestack has significantly better signal routing options than Jamup Pro, and I prefer the amp sounds and most of the effects in Tonestack over Bias and Jamup as well. I'm a Marshall guy, and the '67 Anglia Marshall in Tonestack has the dynamics, the gritty, airy midrange, and rough low end of a mid-late 60's Super Lead (think live Cream, Hendrix, and Kossof) that so far I haven't heard in any other Sub-Kemper/Axfx modeler, Bias included. It seems the other iOS modelers aim for an ideal Marshall tone rather than a realistic one. I've also used my actual fuzz pedals (Fulltone 69 and 70) in front of the Apogee Jam with Tonestack and it sounds great. Can't say that about the other iOS apps. Love the ribbon mic tone on the cab sim too, warm but detailed. The Jtm45 model also sounds very accurate with a zingy top end and slightly muddy lower mids just like the real thing. I can't speak for all the amp sounds/mother load etc, but I've been using it for about a month now and so far I'm just as happy with it now as day one.

The Best. I sell I rigs and other equipment. I have all the apps...Bias, stomp box, Amplitude and others..Tonestack is by far the best of all of them. Also, all this talk about pedals and analog amps, that is what we call "mystic voodoo guitar crap". I take my iPad, Irig, Tonestack, plug into my amp and I have hundreds of the best setups and tones out there. Wake up guitar boys, this is the way to go......Thanks and we look forward....

Needs update. This was my go-to app for solo practicing, but it hasn’t been updated in over three years. Now I can no longer import backing tracks from my music library, which was the main thing I used it for. And no reply from support. Seems like the developers retired and are just milking it. It still sounds ok and doesn’t spam you with ads like IK’s apps, but at least they keep up with new iOS versions.

Pops. Sounds great. My issue is after playing for a few minutes it makes a popping sound through my amp. I close the app and open it back up and it’s fine. I play for a few minutes and it begins popping again.

Updated review - this app is the best. First off, I really do wish there was a user guide to help people understand how to go through and setup and save amps, how to tweak them while you're using them (how to get to the actual amp settings after setup), etc. That said, I've figured most of this out and this app blows away the others in terms of amp choices and sounds. Just incredible. I'm using almost exclusively what I think is a JCM 900 and EVH amp (both of which were additional purchases) and they are incredible. I think the California bear is a rectifier for Metallica as well, which i think sounds great as well. Really pleased.

Stop reading, Start playing ! inSTUDIO 8 is 🔥. After extensive research obsessing over every Amp Sim in this store I made the leap and now spend my time playing thru ToneStack rather than reading hundreds more reviews comparing each of these. I've been using it a year now and still love it! Yonac is committed to continued support (*cough* I'm looking at you JamUp Pro *cough*) Everyone boasts the rich warm tones and untouchable modulation effects, admittedly superb, but the Acoustic Amp sims put a Gibson Hummingbird, Martin, or Taylor in my hands. Equally underrated is the inSTUDIO 8-track recorder, simply outstanding. Until Apple ports Logic Pro X to iOS, this 8-track serves as my DAW and supports routing other apps (even you BiasFX ) thru Inter-App-Audio. It's got everything, MIDI, ABY, the whole 9. Put on some headphones, or feed your amps Send/Return Loop and enjoy true stereo chorus, phasers, Flangers, etc. You won't be disappointed! 🤘🏻

The tone isn’t good. I like this dev but if you’re looking for decent guitar tone this is not it, especially anything with distortion. Cleans are ok but not great very thin. Design of the app is great and has lots of content, but tone is lacking.

Keep an eye on this one. I own most of the notable amp and fx modelers for guitar, and although Tone Stack doesn't have the overall polish of Jam Up or Amp Kit, it still has something to offer. I feel Tone Stack beats out the others when it comes to the tone and tweakability of effects. I like that Tone Stack gives the option to bypass the amp modeling and use it purely as an effects processor, as I prefer the sound of my own amp. Also, the line selector functionality is very cool and really expands your tonal options. I hope future updates streamline the UI, as flipping through modules and saving your setup is less intuitive than other programs. The ability to more easily identify what effects are on or off would also be welcome.

A must have app!. This is an app that does just what it claims. A very useful practicing , and writing tool for all levels of Musicians! However the overall sound quality does leave something to be desired though, would love to see someone write an app that has true professional sound quality! Maybe it cannot be done

This is the one.. After trying free versions of several other guitar amp and pedal sims, I have settled on this one, not just because it sounds good (though I can't say it has a clear edge in some regards than say Amplitube or even the Mobile Pod app that came with my Sonic Port), but it is unquestionably the most usable. It's the only app I found that lets the user adjust input gain, which is a must for an interface like mine that doesn't allow hardware adjustments. It also allows adjustments to the simulation quality and the input buffer size, which is also unique to this app alone. I have not needed a manual (yet), but I have been working with music production software for quite some time as a recording and mix engineer, so that give me an unfair advantage. I find it very straightforward to use, regardless. Highly recommended. I use it mainly as an "effects pedalboard" with the IK Blueboard. I went all in for $65, and that was money worth paying. Nice that it didn't constantly bother me to buy expansions like Amplitube does. And it is a universal app... I don't have to buy a separate version for the iPad like BIAS makes its customers do (funny that they recently pulled the iPhone version of BIAS FX... hmm...)

Very good, but IAP issue (solved!). Have used since release, and it's excellent sounding. Knocking off a point because the Motherload v3 IAP I purchased on one device is not restorable on my second device, although that worked fine for the Motherload v2 IAP I also purchased previously. Update - that issue has been fixed in recent update. Rating revised to 5 stars.

Tone doesn't Stack up. Let me preface this by saying I recently switched from a 12 pedal pedalboard to an iPad based setup with a guitar wing and source audio hot hand USB for control. I mostly just wanted to copy the setup I have on my pedalboard but for full wireless and pedal free operation. Have been using bias fx, but got this because I really like how much better the midi control options are on this. Really wanted this to work because the midi control is pretty great. However, it doesn't deliver where it counts: the sound. The overdrive/distortion sounds just don't cut it, they sound like modeled tones, whereas bias actually sounds real. Tried really hard to dial in convincing tones and couldn't do it. Also, the phase 90 clone is horrible and tone sucking, and that's a huge part of my playing, so that is a killer right there. The ups: I will say though, I use the wah as a iaa w/ bias, it sounds much better and responds much better to midi control. Echorec in ToneStack sounds pretty good too. I might try the poly octave too, because I'm not terribly happy w/ bias fx's version. I mean, if you want 90's/early 00's level modeling sounds, this has a ton of options, and great control... but I'm accustomed to the real gear, and the Tone just doesn't Stack up for what I need on the core sounds.

Tone Stack Pro released, no upgrade for #3 users. This really disappointed me. I have to now she’ll out the same amount I paid for 3 but really all I want out of it is auv3 support. Why not offer us #3 users a complete upgrade for like $10. For the entire upgrade. All amps, fx, etc. I own all your gear. Very sad that you just want me to purchase it all over again.

Needs a lot of work.. If you say this app is better than JamUp and Bias, you either don't know what good tone sounds like or you have not used JamUp or Bias. This app would be amazing if it produced tones like JamUp and Bias. I read all the good reviews about this app and was disappointed after I bought it. The reviews are misleading. If you're in the market for an amp simulator, I suggest that you go with JamUp or Bias. This app will disappoint. That is, unless you like horrible tone.

NOTHING touches Tonestack, NOTHING..... Hands down the best guitar sound processing app on the appstore, or anywhere else, for that matter (Bias amp is Good, and Bias Fx is, too, but it is too buggy and hard to tweak just right to get it to sound decent, and every effect added to an amp, diminishes the sound quality, quite extraordiinarily — NONE OF THAT WITH TONESTACK). All the effects here in Tonestack, are fantastic sounding, and quite organic, too, as are all the amplifiers (the Vox and Fender amps are STUNNING). It seems like most people griping here about it either don’t have a decent interface with which to use it, and so as to be able to tweak it just right to get all the available monster tones, or simply aren’t experimenting with it enough. Some of the negative reviews actually shock me, because Tonestack sounds so good to me, and right out of the gate. Every time. Anyway, I have been using it since its inception (around 2014) and it’s hands down my go to app for guitar, and I have them ALL. I wish to God they made a desktop version for the Mac, but who knows if that will ever happen. Also, Yonac, I’M TALKIN’ TO YOU!! Are there going to be any updates soon, it has been a year now, without an update...perhaps NEW GEAR SOON?? Love you guys!!

Another great app from Yonac. I’ve been trying a few different options for real-time multi effects to use on synths and saxophone. Some laptop VST effects, individual effects on iOS (Filtatron), Amplitube, etc. I think the overall audio quality on ToneStack is quite good. In particular, I really like the Echo and Magellan filter. Where I think the Yonac app really excels is the user interface. It’s very intuitive and even on iPhone it’s very easy to create a chain with 4 or 5 effects and switch them on and off. While I could chain together an excellent group of effects using my laptop host, using a mouse pointer isn’t the easiest way to control everything. I’m very glad that I decided to check this out.

I'm Blown Away!. I own every app that Yonac has developed for iOS. They're very good with synthesizers. I just didn't think they would be able to do an amp modeler. I'm glad they proved me wrong. The ability to mix amplifiers is probably my favorite feature in this app. This gives me a more professional sounding studio sound. It's got everything from crystal clean Fender style sounds to over-the-top distortion like you find in today's metal. The effects don't just sound good, they also have mix controls so you can dial-in as much or as little as you like. I'm very impressed with this apps amplifier selection. They've got it all here. If you're looking to do some direct recording and you want the best sounds that you can get, I think this is what you're looking for. I need to add on major gripe. The noise gate is horrible. The high gain amps with drive pedals make a lot of noise and the noise gate just doesn't cut it at all. This is very important if you like intense gain saturation. This is a glaring flaw in my opinion but others may disagree. Good luck to you.

Amazing!!. Not a detailed run through here, just my 2 cents worth: Freakin' awesome! Love the models and effects. The eight track and audio file player, along with the option to bring in all your other IAA effects and instruments make this a one-stop stand alone studio environment. Rocks!

The guitar app I use.. This developer must be a very compassionate musician/software empath. Because after all the phq'n around I have done just to find guitar apps that have adequate interoperability, real time control schemes and BT & hi-speed networking of aforementioned, this app delivers. Oh yeah and sounds great. YONAC delivers. Buy the whole enchilada it stands alone and plays well with others. I could rave about individual amps, cabs, effects, utilities, and so on. However suffice to say that each and every one of them bring a unique flavor to a great overall experience. I love it. And I love the fact that when I bought the whole v.2 motherload it was really the complete product and v.3 was even better. I have pretty much tried all the guitar apps for iOS. This is the app I use. Honest I'm not a YONAC shill. This program is great. Thanks for the read. EJL

It’s the best amp sim on any platform. So many tones; it’s so worth it.

Please AUv3 this.. Please. AUv3 🙂🙂🙂

Great Sound But It Is Not Stereo In/Out. Don't fool yourself and think by messing with the ab splitter you'll get true stereo output. The effects are outstanding though. I haven't messed with the amp sims. Make this same app and have true stereo multi effects and I will pay twice as much. Btw I bought the entire kit and kaboodle and I am glad I did because I play guitar. But I also use synth apps and true stereo would be nice.

Excellent amp and effect sim.. I have them all.. but what makes this one stand out is the A/B splitter mixer...I can create chains of effects like I do on my Fractal audio axe-fx...the sound is amazing...I have created a Pat Metheny signal chain with the delays split into two channels after being fed by a chorus effect into both channels and all this right after the amp...couldn't do this in other amp sims..great app!

The Beast of Effects Got Better. This is simply a beast of an effects rack! I have been using this on guitar, voice and keyboards. I'm getting really good results. Going against their closest rival, you know who they are, I'm inclined to use this more often. I can use ToneStack on my iPad and iPhone using the same app, unlike the other guys that require different apps. Version 2.0 finally got bass amps! If they can bring keyboard amps this will round their package. The app is unpretentious and has a lot of items, it does effects amazingly well, thanks for giving us this much power.

A REFUND IS IN ORDER. App works fine by itself, however it DOES NOT WORK in my DAW as advertised, I would like my $9.99 back.

Keep up the great work. Without a doubt the best sounding in this busy category of guitar effect apps, To my mind he Space Echo alone is worth the purchase price of the motherload and is now an essential part of my sound. I do hope Yonac continue to put that level of detail into any new effects and amps and continues to emulate high end boutique pedals and rack effects, I would like more options for high gain amplifiers but that does not mean I am in any disappointed. I love how Yonac allows the quality of their apps to speak for themselves unlike the tacky spruiking employed by some of the competing yet inferior competition.

So good!. I love this app, it sounds great with my Danelectro!

New App no notice. Just great when you barely had ToneStack for a few weeks and purchase unlocks and Developer releases new Pro model.. great way to sneak a few dollars… could of allowed upgrade price for recent purchases…

Elegant and functional. Particularly like being able to split and recombine the signal path

Effects disappear and sound muffled. For some reason the effects disappear when I play back a ToneStack track on Auria. Why? I have to use AudioShare to keep the effects present. Please repair this problem. The sound is somewhat muffled which creates some drowning out of other sounds during recordings as well as unnecessary noises

On a very short top list. These guys only make great apps. Yonac is a member of my club of developers whose stuff I purchase without knowing what they do because I know they only put out great apps. The latest motherload is the way to go to get it all at a great price and not have regrets. Nothing worse than regrets. Have fun!

Beats out all the rest by far. I've got every iOS app for amp and effect modelling on my iPhone 6 and I keep coming back to this one. It's more of an all in one package and the tones are excellent. Stereo makes a huge difference, as does the amp blending. Everything about this app is studio quality. I'm hooked on the effects and the amps are endless in their possibilities. Usually with these iOS apps I stick with one or two tonal variations between two amps. With this one it seems like every amp and cab mixture is another useable flavour. Well done and I look forward to updates! New update to Motherload v2 is yet another huge improvement. The Dr. Z amps are just an excellent improvement on what was already a great set of amps to choose from. Improved load times are a welcome addition as well.

Brilliantly spectaculars!. All the Yonac apps I have are phenomenal, if you are thinking about adding to your collection you really can't go wrong with this developers amazing work. Tonestack v 1.7 is top draw in it's basic form but touches almost tonal nirvana with the 'Motherload' v 1.0. I run it through an iPhone 5s and iRig 2 into a Gibson GA-5 amp and the tones are stacked huge, works great with headphones too. Future updates I'd like to see...more amps like Supro, Gibson, Magnatone, Dumble, Standel...more effects such as Echorec, Watkins Copycat. Tonestack is my favourite amp&cab&effects app on iOS. THANK YOU YONAC definitely five stars all the way.

Excellent!!. I just scratched the surface of what it can do, and so far I like what I hear! Stereo, stereo, and more stereo. That is a huge difference from the "other" famous iOS modeler apps. Thanks for making this app, it is freedom in sculpting your sound.

Trully awesome. Great app, easily worth the money. Not only is this awesome for guitars but it sounds amazing with synths. Interface is perfect. 5/5

Great app but.... Terrific app overall but always reverts back to input 1 with Apogee One which is annoying because that's the internal mic on the One, not the instrument input. Please fix ASAP.

Acoustic. This app has a great acoustic simulator

Awesome FX app. One of my favorites. Great value and high quality. Loads of fun to be had. Thanks Yonac.

Very nice indeed. Great program! It's the only amp and effect simulation I have tried that can play at 48khz and 24 bit depth! Good going!

Best app for guitar!. Best sounding and overall app for guitar... ToneStack 3 upgrade is just amazing. Acoustic simulator is awesome!!!! Thanks to Yonac!

3 years since an update???. I bought all of the in app purchases and am now feeling like a big fat plucked chicken. How many OS upgrades since then? Let alone two new iPad models. Not cool, Yonac.

Incroyable!!!!!. J'ai vraiment l'impression que l'ont est rentré dans une révolution dans la modélisation sur mobile.... BRAVO!!

Fantastic. So wonderful. Been using it for months and finally got the Motherload Bundle and now it's unbelievable. Sounds are there and the Motherload Bundle is worth it.

Best I have tried!. … and I have tried all the best rated amp sims out there. Tone Stack is best with respect to tone quality, user interface and reliability. Great app!

`i will put in a star or 5 later. The app is not working after spending over $100 for in app purchases It better get back up soon. I do hope that you are not trying to manipulate me(us) into getting your new app(AuV3 dont matter to me) and I am not paying another 59.99 because I already paid a lot more.

Better than most. Better than most ios amp sims, but thats not saying much. The saving grace are the effects.

Endless awesomeness. About a month ago or so, I had never even heard of ToneStack 1 day before I bought the Motherload. Was comparing Bias vs Jamup and others I was already familiar with. Always found the Bias stuff a bit confusing--is x app just for tubes, amps, pedals, and what else do I need? Where does one end and the other begin? Anyway, in my Googling I found some reviews of this app. I did as much research on it as I could, and was shortly sold on the Motherload. Coming from Mobile Pod--which came with my Sonic Port, there is NO comparison. I really loved Mobile Pod until I tried ToneStack. I haven't looked back once. This app ROCKS. I seem to be able to dial in most tones I'm shooting for. The possibilities are almost endless. I only experienced latency when I burdened my iPad Air 2's CPU with a long effects chain including a noise gate. Otherwise, the tones are superb and I haven't experienced any latency in normal use apart from one preset -- the name alludes me right now. I would really like to see an ecosystem for user presets--I hope Yonac will consider that resource. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be interested in that kind of community exchange. Creating artist or cover song tones can be time-consuming. Things can get pretty sophisticated with this app. ABY switch opens so many possibilities and teaches me about higher level stuff I normally wouldn't encounter. It's so much fun geeking out on this app that it can eat into my practice time. And by no means am I a gear guru. Again, it's a completely different level of than Mobile Pod IMHO. Despite all its options, you don't have to have a degree in engineering to get started. It's fairly plug-n-play. It was intuitive enough that I didn't have to spend hours figuring everything out. BTW, dig the convenience of having the tuner built into the main interface. Just an example of coolness, I created a semi-believable 12 string acoustic model using a polyoctave box with an acoustic model. How cool is that? So many more options I haven't yet explored, but this is an exciting app, and well worth the price of the Motherload. I hope they continue developing new amp models (like... a Dumble Steel Stringer). BTW, Big kudos to Yonac for this gem.

Worked well for 30 min. For whatever reason, now when I open the app it immediately mutes itself. That makes for an amp simulator that really is not worth a crap to me. I am now sorry I bought anything from these people.

requires lots of in app purchases. i bought this because it wasnt very expensive but found out after downloading that it comes with very few included amps and effects. if you want a full pedalboard prepare to shell out a ton eof money on the extras.

The best. Jamup and BIAS sound dull to me. Tonestack sounds great and it's a pleasure to use.

Yonac guitar amp? Yes!. Wow! I'm blessed to have a lot of guitar apps. This one has blown me away! Even just the basic purchase has dropped my jaw. Magellan is one of my favorite synths, now Tonestack is one my favorite guitar apps. Don't even think, buy it now! Lol IMHO, one of the best! Thanks, guys. God bless!!!!!!!

Meh. Aside from a lot of new in app purchases, there's nothing major about the major new upgrade.

Don't bother if you own Jamup or Bias.. Tonestack is basicly an OK guitar amp simulator. But it can not replace Jamup/Bias or complement them in anyway. So if you already own J/B, IMO it is not necessary to buy Tonestack. With J/B it is very easy to get a decent sound, whether you like it or not is another topic. When you combine different pedals with amps, the feeling is very close to real hardwares. That is why J/B is so popular. Tonestack makes the job harder. I have to say it is not that easy to get a decent sound from Tonestack. This is what I cannot understand why so many people praise Tonestack like it is an equivalent of J/B. It is not what an amp simulator is supposed to be like. Because with a real amp, you can always get decent sounds even without any tweak. That is what J/B offer, a real amp feeling. And the sound should be useful even with extreme tweak. But Tonestack is little far from that purpose. Some setting are simple not working, because the sound will go harsh and unnatural. So you have to spend more time tweaking those knobs to find a working setting. The technology, whatever the dev calls it, is disappointing. When you combine different overdrive pedals with amps, the sounds are hard to distinguish. And after few minutes I figured out that you better not use any OD in front of any amp at all. It could only ruin the sound. The technology handles combination of pedal and amp very badly. Another disappointment. Changing amps, pedals and cabs is very inconvenient, in all the amp simulators that I bought (including Ampkit, J/B, Amplitube) the operation in Tonestack is the worst. There is no quick way to change amp or pedal or cab, no quick way to bypass a unit (especially when you add too many units in the chain), no quick way to alter the order of units. The tap and hold is really a bad idea, the time to confirm the hold is too long. Of course there are things that Jamup can’t do. You can add more than 7 units in effect chain and there is a signal splitter. But I sense these features are not that useful for me. I seldom add more than 5 units in Jamup. Before I bought it I thought it must be stereo all the way. Sadly it has mono input like Jamup. So in that part it is as bad as Jamup. Though it has true stereo output, it is not helpful when you want to use it with a synth. In conclusion, I don't find anything that only Tonestack could offer, even if you are simply seeking diversity. If I had not used Jamup/Bias, I might say it is a great amp simulator. But the truth is Jamup/Bias raised the bar already. So if the sound from Tonestack is not better than J/B (noticeable worse), why bother?

Emphasis on FX. ToneStack is pretty decent, probably better sound than AmpliTube, with more emphasis on FX. I like that there are a variety of wah pedals to choose from. The MIDI controllability of FX knobs and switches is really nice. The Motherload bundle is an easy way to get everything.

Ton stack updated with IAA!!. If u dont like the sounds u get from tone stack then you're doing something wrong or just a big whinny baby =)

Tone stack a true monster app!. I've been playing guitar through real amps for over 40 years. Not many modeling amps or software have impressed me much tone stack is. Five stars. Use it direct to daw and through my superchamp x2 amp w it's modeling set to a clean amp amazing sounds

You can't get a better guitar app.. I've beta tested for the competition - this app simply has no peer! Best amps, feel, FX, midi implementation, patch management, stability. YOU NEED THIS APP!

Amazing. If you're a guitarist , just get it. Enough said.

Awesome, until you need a MIDI map. "MIDI learn," while a nifty idea, just has never worked for me (over 3 months of 'trial and error,' which is why I hold Tonestack's version of "MIDI learn" as pure BS). Why there's no MIDI map despite paying customers asking for one is just the devs jamming their thumb in our eyes and for no good reason. I can name at least one competitor that provides MIDI maps for each setup. No MIDI map + the best effects app out now = clunky unwieldy usage. So... It's good until you need real-time control over your effects while using your hands with, well... I don't know... Your guitar, maybe?

G8 Job !. Out and out A winner! Thanks guys keep them apps coming!

Amps and cabinets are amazing in this app.. The only thing I can say is that the amps and cab are really authentic sounding. It has plenty of gain and volume to satisfy any guitarist. Amps and guitar effects sound really good when pair together. This is a most have app for guitar and bass player. Quality sound and a lot of options to create a great sound.

Tops!. I have played the rest and ToneStack and Ampkit are the Best! ToneStack sounds fantastic! The basic amp models and effects are stellar! The ability to split the signal or frequency across two separate channels in stereo is killer. ToneStack has a ton of interesting effects not found elsewhere as well as features. It also has a cool on stage mode. After playing the app for one day it is clear the sonic possibilities are vast. $4.99 purchase price was a steal!

We will see. Update after a few days. Read under for first review. Oh, I played this with an older (20 or 25 year old I think) American strat plus (it's my go to guitar for now) into a headset then into a Dr. Z Maz 18, then with a Martin acoustic professional artist acoustic. Alone and with audiobus into Cubasis and Auria with some effects. I play mainly praise and worship, Classic rock, blues and jazz stuff. Ok, so I had to get all the works on the in app purchase. I have to admit, this guy has some neat options unique to Tonestack. As far as pure tone, I have to say as a stand alone amp "Bias" is my favorite. But the tones from ampkit to jamup, to bias, to Tonestack are very close and I am sure others have different preferences. For 55 bucks you do get a ton of candy with this though. It does sound great for an ipad guitar amp app. You can stick as many amps, cabs and pedals together as you dare, too. It is well designed. I can not say it's my favorite, but for now it's probably in my top 3 guitar amp apps (all equally rated for various reasons) Jamup/Bias, Ampkit+ and Tonestack. So if you play guitar on your ipad, get this now. Older review under........ I do like other apps by Yonac, so I had to get this when I saw it up. Will update this in a day or two as I test it out. Ok, so far with about one hour play time. My input. Now, I have about every Guitar amp app (except Amplitube which I don't like and one other that the name escapes me, tone something which I don't like) This app is nice, a bit pricey on the in app purchase. For the full deal, it is 50 bucks, I am semi ok with that though. The sound is the main thing and to me Bias, Jamup, Ampkit and Flying haggis, so far all sound a wee bit crisper though. Bias being the best of them all for amp tone. I do have to play with this more for a fairer comparison. With a bit of time I might tweak it to be as good or better, who knows. This app does have potential though. I liked the interface, the tuner, and metronome. It's easy to use and set up. The amps just could not get crystal to me. Don't misunderstand me, it does sound good. Just not the best sounding. I tend to load up just the amps, no pedals to listen the the tone. This app does have a dream load of pedals to get for purchase along with the ones they give you along with many amps. I do hope they have an in app purchase sale. I did pay for jamup and amp kits addons though. So it all good. Flying Haggis is great for an all in one price guitar amp app. If your like me.. You will get this too. I am an ipad musician junkie. I would say this is a nice addition, all in all.

Buyer Beware.... They make it seem like you are getting a good package for $5, then they make you buy more stuff. JamUp comes with more stuff for the money. They both only come with 2 free recording tracks. I wish I hadn't bought it because I have JamUp.

Vintage tubes!!!. I just wasted my money on the other guitar apps, this one is just perfect.

Killer. I bought the mother load, and I do not regret it. The effects are excellent, and most of the amps are very good. It's got lots of cool dual channel possibilities, which really makes it a must have. Great app.

Lots of in app purchases. I was under the impression that when I bought the app all the amps would have come with them. While this isn't deplorable because I bought it for 99 cents, its sort of misleading. I was like "wow 99 cents what a good deal!" Then I bought it and it turns out I only get 3 amps and have to pay for the rest. If I had known I wouldn't have bought the app in the first place. Well played Yonac, you got me.This will likely be my last Yonac purchase.

A genuine contender. This is the first app that can get in the ring with Jamup and actaully give it some comepetition. I have Jamup/BIAS, Tonestack, Amplitube, Ampkit. Jamup/BIAS and Tonestack are probaly the best of the lot. I really love this app for the mere fact that it has A/B amp rigging as well as some very good Marshall and Fender-y tones. The FX are superb and quite authentic. Its not tubes - lets get that out of the way. But i have to give Tonestack the edgein terms of tone.Jamup does a good job on the hi-gain/ultra-hi-gain metal tones. Tonestack gets the nod for more of the classic tones however. I can get killer Eric Johnson/Hendrix Plexi and JCM tones easily.I'm not so much into the super high-gain crunch and that's probably why Jamup appeals to the metal scene players more than others (look at their endrosing artists). Tonestack goes the other way - and it gets those classic amp sounds pretty well. It's a bit more intuitive to work with as well. I'm sure there'll be addon-ons and I'm excited to see what the developers will do with this app.

Great Amp and Effects Simulator. Opened this app and started having loads of fun straight away. The sims are fantastic: great quality and a broad range of amps, cabs and effects. All this and the ability to split and merge signals. Awesome!

Take a chance, maybe get burned.... ... That's what happens when you buy a Yonac app. Will this be one that is updated like Magellan - or it may be totally ignored and abandoned like other apps I've bought from Yonac. It's all such a mystery, we'll see if this app is up and running a year from now... It's 50/50 with this guy...

Works pretty well. Very powerful, will utilize as much power as cpu has for highest settings. Would not advise chaining with audiobus due to speed. Could use a few more effects

Essential. The best guitar workstation in iOS world. I use it everyday.

One of the best!. Great tones and effects! Got the whole enchilada at great price. This is a hidden treasure!

Wow. That's all.. I think somewhere deep down I still didn't consider iThingies as bona-fide music production tools. I believed I already thought highly of their potential, but my immediate reaction to this app made it clear that I was living a lie. I'm not looking for a program that will make me or my device sould like a gazillion-dollar recording studio. (Gasp.) I'm not trying to imagine what that would sound or feel like. In fact, I don't want to imagine at all; I want to remember. What I remembered while playing with this app in the Audiobus effects slot was being about 14 years old, sitting on the edge of the bed with lime green shag carpeting on the floor, and me with my old Gibson and one flip-flop (so I could use the stomp box without getting a sore spot on the bottom of my foot), trying to coax the perfect sound out of an amplifier that was so old it had no right to be considered anything but a fire hazard. Brought a tear to my eye. This app is the real deal. It's immediately clear that a lot of effort and attention went to accuracy. This isn't like some random photo filter app where every setting gets a neat name that doesn't really mean anything... When Yonac says "vintage british", you can actually hear it. Change the lineup to something more "90s", and before I'm done wondering "what in the world is one setup called '90s' going to sound like", I'm trying to wipe that cheezy grin off my face again. There's enough accuracy here to put on a blindfold and learn some things. Absolutely perfect sound quality. If there's a 'pop' or a 'click', it's supposed to be there. Thank you, Yonac. For an app that can bring a nostalgic tear to my eye, you can name your price.

What you're hoping for. Get

Great! Just needs one fix.. Allow the app to run in the background while other apps are used or the iPhone is at the home screen or off.

Yessiree!. It just keeps getting better!

One of the more well-rounded iOS guitar apps. ToneStack is an instant competitor with JamUp, BIAS, Flying Haggis, and Agile AmpKit, all of which have their high and low points. As an intial release version, developer Yonac has crammed a mind-boggling amount of content into this app. And while not all of it is great, there's so much that is good, and it's so varied in type, that it's hard to argue against the value of the base purchase, or even the $50 Motherload package if you really like what you try out. I could go on and on about this very deep app, but want to respond to a criticism about the amps sounding "thin and weak". First, don't use the default presets supplied by Yonac. Set up your own chains, plug in YOUR guitar, and adjust the amp to that setup. Second, it should be noted that the default settings are a bit extreme. On some devices, the audio quality is set to "medium" instead of high or very high (to improve performance). Adjusting this will help, as will fixing the Treble and Presence settings that seem to default to "11". But I totally disagree with the amps being "thin" - the Bassman and Marshall amps are as ballsy as you could ask for. Even the Fenders - if set up properly - sound full and realistic. The effects in ToneStack are the main attention-grabber. I can't say that the app is a better overall package than JamUp (yet), but it already offers some effects options like stereo delay and A/B splitting that aren't available or aren't done as well as they are here. The app is outstanding for an initial release, but I would like to see IAA instrument functionality added, and I've heard the IAA effects slot usage is a bit unreliable. Also, the button presses are occasionally unresponsive on the main screen, and the overall app could probably use a little bit of optimization. But even my iPad 2 can handle it and it just sounds great. It's a dizzying volume of content in the Motherload package, and I end up playing it for far longer than I mean to when I sit down!

Absolutely Everything. Outstanding amp simulations, Phenomenal effects selection and emulation, simple & intuitive interface, lowest latency I have seen in an app like this, and this one definitely stands high above the rest. WOW! Get It!
