It’s all good until it isn’t!. I loved the idea of ordering on the app and being able to pull in, pay, and have your order brought out. A little over a month ago there was a glitch with the app. I ordered before I arrived and during the order I had to reload because my balance was low. As I pulled into Sonic to select witch bay I was in it reloaded again! My total was $4.10, the first reload was $10 but they only took $4.01 off; then it reloaded for another $10 taking the remaining .09 of the total. So me know technology, I thought, it would either add the extra $10 to the sonic app or it wouldn’t post from my debit card. After 5 days the second reload for $10 posted but the balance did not reflect that in the sonic app. I sent a message through the app support team. They instructed me to contact the location for my refund. The located advised they had no knowledge of this type of technology and to call home office. I have called, emailed, called, emailed, called, called, called, called and called! Only for them to email me that my issue can not be resolved. I only wanted them to add the freakin $10 to the app since I’m doing business with them anyway and I understand how technology can fail Us. I have receipts, bank statements and screenshots of transactions to support my complaint!! This is not acceptable!
Been having issues lately.. Usually I’m pretty happy with the app. But lately I’ve been having difficulty getting it to let me order at the Sonic of my choice. I live at one end of town and my job is at the other end and we have a Sonic at both, so I would try to order at the further away one and it would sometimes refuse to let me saying it’s too far. It’s only a 20 minute drive at most! And I get off work at 10:00 pm a lot of times and it will say can’t take my order for a drink because they close at 11:00 pm? When I’m just two blocks away? What’s up with that? Does it really take them more than an hour to pour a coke? So then I’m stuck paying full price!!! Plus one more thing, a lot of times I would like to pick it up in the drive thru but the app doesn’t give me that option to say that’s where Im at and if the window person is new, then they don’t know what to do. Sure hope these two things could be fixed. Thank you.
This app is trash. This app is completely pointless, I wanted to use it to be able to order ahead because my sonic is also trash and takes no lie 30 minutes to make 2 sodas and bring them out to me. (Even with 3 cars in the parking lot, but that’s totally beside the point, it would be nice to be able to give them a 30 minute heads up that I will be there). This app is so incredibly pointless at this point because I can go all the way ordering everything and when I go to place my order it says it cannot process Apple Pay. I put my card info in, says it’s declined. Funny, my credit card limit says otherwise but ok. So then I can’t even utilize the “half price all day!” Promo they give you through ordering through the app because again my sonic is incompetent and will not accommodate for their app having technical issues. It’s absolutely 100% pointless please fix these issues.
Manipulative app. I like the deals. Honestly I never used to go to sonic but I do more now because of the all day happy hour thing and the random coupons. But I feel like they’re doing tricky things to get me to spend more money and really it’s just annoying me so that I probably won’t use the app anymore. Why on earth do I have to reload a card every time I want to pay? With other apps like the McDonald’s app you can just pay for what you order, but they make you reload your card with a minimum of $10 so that you’ll keep coming back. Nice try but I’m not doing that. Also it’s so annoying that you can’t see how much things cost until you check out, which takes forever to load. Want to know the price difference between a medium and large? Yeah, that’ll take 5 minutes of adding/ deleting things to your cart. I don’t know what kind of marketing strategy this is but it makes me buy less things because I get so frustrated having to do so much work to just change something from a medium to a large. They could take a few hints from the McDonald’s app for sure.
The app is ok. The app is ok for placing orders especially if you are like me and don’t want to wait, however, if some of your items are not available, then good luck with getting a refund for what you don’t get. I ordered a milkshake with a few other items, the milkshake machine was down, so they offered to give me something else or give me a refund. I took the refund, which I was expecting to be put back on my card. After a week and there was no refund, I reached out to the support team thru the app only to be told there was no record of the refund. They advised me to wait a few more days and if no refund reach out to the store manager. So today I went to the store and the manager advised me that unless the entire order was refunded, they would have given me cash, they have no way of Refunding a partial order if you order thru the app, the can only refund cash at the store. I never got the cash and a refund was never put back on my card. The store manager did give me the milkshake, 23 days after the order was placed. So that issue was resolved. A note to other users, if you don’t get your full order, because the milkshake machine is down, or they run out of something, you will get a cash refund unless they cancel the entire order, don’t expect the refund to be put back on your card, cause it’s not..
My review with a tip!. I just learned about this app this morning and I was all Gung-Ho about using it because everything that you order off of the app is half off which is “fantastic” in my book especially because prices on everything has gone up ridiculously. Just thought I share this tip with you all just in case you have the same issues I ran into. I had a little bit of issues adding my card to the app. If you’re having the same issues as I did it might be because your email address, you have to use the same email address you use for your bank account. Hope this helps! If not they have a customer service number that you can talk to a real person that you can understand! Crazy Right? Although they did not solve this issue I did. Just a process of elimination, there only the customer service people not the tech people but the guy I talked to was “on it!” to make sure this issue was resolved.
It’s ok but needs improvement. My husband and I both have this app on our phones. My husband struggles every time because his app never has the featured items listed. We’ve both struggled with the order not being ready when we get there even though we picked the ASAP option. We still have to wait after we check in for it to be made. Not sure they know what ASAP means. Occasionally we arrive to pick up our preordered items and they don’t even HAVE the order but we’ve been charged for them. Also, our local store charges you for add on items you ordered but are out of. This happens a lot. I do like the convenience of being able to hand my kids the phone and they pick out what they want and put it in the “bag.” I like the “thought” of our meal being ordered already and being made while I’m on the way to pick it up…..just not really seeing this feature utilized. I would also like to be able to order from my phone app and my husband go pick it up except if I have my phone at home it says out of range to be able to check into a stall #. This is most inconvenient. This is why my husband got the app on his phone. But like I said, he struggles more with his because it never has the new featured items listed. Needs improvement, but thanks for trying.
One star for half price drinks. Don’t typically make reviews but this app as really gone south. And irritated me the last few months. I’m not sure who the genius software engineer was that said “you know the old app is to easy, to simple. I could make it more complex and worse to use.” 👏 but congratulations cause you exceeded at that goal. The old app didn’t have any problems maybe a few here and there. But with the app to change everything it is nothing but an absolute headache. Old app looked at location auto changed location for you. New app nope gotta go in and change it yourself. It’ll tell you are far away but it does this even with the one you are at that say 0 miles away so just a cya feature there. Old app placed order hit pay went to take payment. New app you go to cart then ya go to checkout then a loading screen to calculate then asked for tip and payment then another load screen to take payment then finally your stall. Old one hit I’m here ask what stall hit good to go. New one tell you’re here have to hit the button to tell what stall you’re in about 4 times before it pops up. Just overall headache. But least haven’t taken away 1/2 prices drinks yet, only reason I’m still using it honestly.
It’s okay.. Honestly I order through the sonic app every time because it’s so easy. HOWEVER I go to sonic very often with friends and we all want to order at the same time but we can’t. The app won’t let multiple orders go through which I just don’t get because there are multiple people in the car. So ordering through the app is a hassle that way because we all do it. It makes for such a long wait time. Another thing is that we should be able to put multiple cards on the app or be able to have multiple payment options which would once again make life with friends so much easier. On my last note we should be able to tip on the app. I hardly have cash anymore and I want to tip these hard working people but I can’t. Most of my sonic trips are spontaneous so I don’t plan ahead to have cash. Plus sonic pays these poor people like dirt. They run the kitchen and car hop and make half minimum wage !? Are you joking? And most people don’t tip them. A year ago I didn’t even know I was supposed to tip these people because I didn’t see sonic as a restaurant but now knowing how much they pay people is ridiculous. PAY THEM MORE. And one last thing. I get sonic a lot and there are no perks with that. With how much I spend I would love a rewards system. Not just a “deal” like a you spend this much you get this much in return type of thing. Like a loyalty program to earn points or something. Would love that. The app is okay but once again there are issues that I would love to be addressed.
Please FIX it!. The newest revision of the app has some needed functionality: Displaying the pricing during selections is good Seems easier to use Aesthetics HOWEVER…. The GPS location is BUGGY! Sometimes you can’t even order from the app when you’re sitting in the stall because the app thinks you’re too far away… isn’t the point of the app to order ahead? Sometimes multiple force closes will help, sometimes it won’t. It it very irritating when you get to finally get to the checkout screen after getting through the location problems and the pay options are greyed out and unavailable. Force close and restart usually helps, but it’s a time waster. For heavy users like me, who stop at sonic multiple time per day, it is very off putting to order ahead then be notified that “HEY, you have been here more than once today, so while you’re sitting in the stall trying to get the app to work, push the button like we’ve done for the last FOUR DECADES to let us know that you TRIED to order ahead, but our APP is buggy and does not work properly!” AGAIN...What is this app for? App development needs some serious quality control and testing. Preferably BEFORE it is released.
No explanation for deactivated account, NO RESOLUTION!. I went to log in to the app today and was told my account had been deactivated. I then called the customer support number in the app and they could give me no explanation as to why I could not access my account, no information as to what amount of money was left on my virtual gift card when my account was deactivated, and also no information as to when I would be refunded the remaining amount of money that was on my card when my account got deactivated. What kind of customer support are you supposed to be when you have no remedy for this apparently wide-spread issue except to create a new account and hope for you money back?! What’s even the point of the app at all if something this simple can’t be easily fixed by calling the customer service number you provide to us?! Needless to say, I have already deleted the app. It’s extremely frustrating as I loved the deals and ability to order ahead, but my account getting deactivated for no reason at all and customer service having no way to get it back up is beyond annoying. The app was basically the only reason I was going to Sonic restaurants so often lately, and now I won’t go nearly as much. I suggest Sonic fix this issue quick, or I’m sure more customers will be just as frustrated as I am right now.
App needs work!. I liked the app before you changed it, now there are glitches galore first of all, the location seems to be randomly chosen for you! You can be sitting at the drive in, place an order on the app and as soon as you click pay, it tells you “OOPS YOU WENT TO THE WRONG LOCATION”! It’s smart enough to know where you are, just not smart enough to place the order at that location! And then the fun starts! The employees at the Sonic where you are at, claim there’s nothing they can do about it, they have nothing to do with the app and you will have to call the phone # in the app! Good luck finding that number, it’s there but it will take a lot of digging and clicking to find it! And then after arguing with the representative for the Sonic app for 15 or so minutes, and them trying to convince you to drive across town and pick up your order, they will reluctantly agree to refund your money, in 7-10 days of course! There are other glitches that I won’t get into but the biggest. To me is that you cannot add to your order once it is placed, stupid!
Gift Card Use is Very Frustrating. I used to love this app HOWEVER I recently got several sonic gift cards for Christmas and decided I would just load them on to my app to make my life easier .... but then came to realize that you cannot combine your gift card balances! The Sonic app only allows you to check out with one gift card at a time. So for example my meal today cost $7.50 and I have two $5 sonic gift cards, however instead of being able to pay $10 in gift cards and have $3.50 left over, I can only pay with one gift card or the other and have to “reload” the gift card in order to cover my balance. This is extremely frustrating and makes it so that I will probably never be able to fully empty my cards without reloading. Just another way for them to make more money. Even Starbucks has a way on their app to transfer a balance from one gift card to another so that you can use the full balance of multiple gift cards combined! Sonic should definitely do that! If I would have known this was going to happen I would never have loaded my gift cards on to my app. So very frustrating.
A couple of issues and a suggestions.. The issue I am having lately is that when I try to order at a Sonic other than the one I normally order from, the location will change back to the one I normally use. The first time I didn’t notice it had changed until I was 27 miles from the one I normally use and already at the location I had changed to. Another issue is the stall number changing after being typed in. This has happened 3 separate times and I would have to either call or press the red button to have them bring my order to the correct stall. There needs to be an option to directly contact a manager. At my normal location, one of the employees has parked more than once either completely blocking the main entrance or where people have trouble getting around the car. This has happened several times and the last time they even had the ‘open’ light turned off, but someone answered when I had to call and cancel my order because the driveway was blocked by this same car. She hung up before I could ask for a refund or manager and when I tried to call back the call wouldn’t go through. I will no longer use that location.
Awkward Payment Options and No Prices.. They accept Apple Pay and presumably other mobile payment, but you can’t pay with multiple gift cards or combine a gift card with Apple Pay. I don’t want to give out my card numbers. Apple Pay is infinitely more secure. I’ve read of people having their cards used across the country after giving them to Sonic’s app. They need to let you combine multiple gift cards so you can zero out the balance in their app and also let you combine gift cards with mobile payment for better security and convenience. That way you only have to enter the cards once in Apple Pay and then you can use them anywhere far more securely. It should be the standard payment option. Taco Bell and Panera do payments right in thei app. Sonic is backwards so you can’t use up a gift card without swiping it at a kiosk or giving your card number out and risking a data breach. Please fix the problems and allow us to combine at least two gift cards plus any mobile payments for the full balance without needing to deal with the kiosks or give up our card numbers. It’s just common sense to let folks use Apple Pay and multiple gift cards to pay with the app. Why would you make it harder for people to pay? Also when are you going to communicate with stores so the prices show up before checking out? Sonic is the only app I know that doesn’t show prices in their app menu and cart as you add items.
Keeps getting worse. ANOTHER UPDATE: Somehow this app keeps getting worse. Still having to randomly sign in for no reason and then this time all my payment information was gone. To top it off before I could checkout, an ad popped up and the only way to close it was to click through the ad for merchandise I’d never buy. I don’t understand how Sonic can keep getting universally bad reviews for this app and not go back to the original one. Boggles the mind. UPDATE: Now the payment methods are greyed out and don’t work. I’ve logged out and in, reinstalled it and everything else I can think to do. It keeps getting worse after having been very reliable and easy. —- I never write app reviews but this one merits it. What used to be one of the easiest to use apps in the world has become a shell of its former self. It no longer automatically recognizes the store I am at and I have ordered at the wrong place a couple of times. The layout is a big step back in user experience. It keeps logging me out and when I do happen to get to the point where I can place an order, something inevitably goes wrong. I go to Sonic about five times a week for drinks and used to love using the app. I’m getting to the point it’s such a hassle to use the app that it’s not worth going to Sonic. Too bad because the app used to be flawless
Have been wondering where you get this overall score. After using the app constantly. I like using it every time I go to sonic as a form of order ahead. As useful as a mobile app this way is that is more targeted to the business for trying to have a utility like this. Big props for that. Unfortunately it falls to the bottom of user experience. First to cover the how they have such a good rating, very simple, they redirect the bad reviews to their own system so they never make it here. After several reviews sent to their system I just got tired of this and spending a bit of extra time to submit the one that counts to me when downloading an app. The user experience is just not enticing to spend some time in it. Navigation makes it feel like a website which to me totally defeats the purpose of a mobile app. The overall layout just doesn’t go along with the rest of iOS apps out there. Having to maneuver through all the different places your design likes to put all the sections in the app leaves a lot of room for improvement. Elements like that when it comes to consistency through out should not be taken lightly in my opinion.
Bad employees at sonic. Employees are extremely rude when you try to ask them if they got your order from the app. They just shut you down as soon as you mention the app and try to get rid of you. They don’t want to take any responsibility or help at all. They won’t even give you a number to call they just tell you to go away. The app charges you even if the order doesn’t go through. The app also sends it to different locations even if you have it set in your phone. Update: After not going to Sonic for a while or using the app I tried it again. I think it works well if your order is under $50. My problems have only come when my order was above that amount. I ordered slushees today through the app and the new bursting bubbles didn’t work for the 1/2 off so I called customer service and they were extremely polite and fixed my problem easily. It would be better if I didn’t have to call customer service every time I use the app, but at least they fix my problems and give me refunds when they mess up. I’m adding 2 stars because the girl who helped me today easily helped me fix my problem and I didn’t have to wait an hour on the phone to get it done.
Good deals but deceitful payment system.. The app offers a lot of great deals like half off all drinks all day BUT only if you order through the app. That’s not a big problem but it is when you’re forced to “load” money by buying Sonic gift cards in dominations of $10, $20, etc. So if you have a small order you’re forced to spend a minimum of $10. Sure, you’ll have what’s left over for the next transaction but when that time comes and you’re short a few cents? You’ll have to load another $10. Ordering through the app itself is slow as it suffers from sluggish performance especially on the payment screens, particularly when you submit payments. This from an iPhone X and fast WiFi. When you use the app near the restaurant I’ve had the order screen completely disappear and without any order history screen or receipt I had to hope that the staff seen my order and wouldn’t ask me for me proof of purchase. Very annoying and discouraging. Save yourself the trouble and hassle and just order in person rather than use this greedy and slow app. You’ll pay a little bit more without the savings but it’s worth it if you can avoid headaches cause by using this app.
App never works; employees are great tho. Tbh this app has NEVER worked for me. It’s unfortunate bc there are always good deals being offered (e.g. BOGO free entrees and/or half off drinks) for if you order thru the app, but whenever I have tried to order via this method, there’s always an error message that pops up saying they couldn’t process the order and to please try again. While the service is great and food tastes awesome, part of the reason why I keep coming back is out of hope to be able to redeem a deal that has been offered. While friends have no problem redeeming their offers, I constantly have issues with being able to do anything with the app at all. It’s frustrating bc it seems like I’m missing out on what could be a few savings here and there when we need a quick bite to eat. I’ve tried different methods of payment (3 to be exact) & the app and phone software are all up to date. So I’m not sure what else I can do to make this work. Today is probably the fifth or so time I’ve come by Sonic specifically with the intention of using the app, but to no avail. Gravely disappointed. Please don’t send offers to your customers if it’s difficult, if not impossible, to redeem such offers. It’s ridiculous.
AMAZING BUT so many technical difficulties all the time.. This app is amazing… when it works correctly. This app has made it so much easier to pay ahead AND half price any time of the day to the point I can buy myself multiple a day or I even started buying my friends drinks. BUT there so many glitches. Like some days it will randomly not let me order because of “technical difficulties” that suddenly showed up when it was just working an hour ago. Or it’ll be like “you’re too far” when the sonic around me is literally 5 minutes away and to fix that you have to go back and press “change location” but click the same location you originally had it on. You have to press “change” even if you’re not changing the location bc then the app won’t let you pay. This never used to happen until about 2023 so I am confused. Also the old design was so cute and authentic and I feel like yall should go back to that. Anyways, it would be 5 stars if it wasn’t for the problems. Thanks for the great app!
I don’t understand the purpose, and neither do the car hops. We mostly go to Sonic for the ability to create drinks, and have unique drinks modifications. I tried pre ordering drinks, but it didn’t have the modification options. Okay, fine. We won’t pre order drinks, we’ll just use the app to pay, since we had preloaded money. WRONG!! Even though the stall has the option to pay with the app after ordering, that isn’t actually an option. When the carhop arrived, they were incredibly unhelpful. There was no way to pay, and no suggestions were given on how to rectify the situation. In the carhop’s words “I don’t know why they have the app. We haven’t even been trained on it. There’s nothing we can do.” Okay, so we can’t order what we want on the app, we can’t pay with the app when we DO order what we want...so can we somehow get the money we preloaded onto the app back? Nope! Even though it’s technically a gift card, my money is stuck on the app. Between the lack of training with the stores, the misleading options and payment methods, and the inability to modify orders or leave order comments, it just turned into a waste of money and multiple frustrating encounters with the company.
DO NOT GET THIS APP!!!!!. I ordered lunch via the app. I arrived for pickup and the car hop read off the receipt all ordered items thus indicating a complete order. However, when I get home we are missing 5 items. Got back in car to retrieve the missing food items only to he told 4 of the items they have been out of for quite some time. If you were out of the item why didn’t you say so when I picked up the order? You filled the bags. Did you not notice the items were not in your store to put in my bag? Asked for a refund only to be told they can’t do that. I have to call their customer service #. I did only to be told no you have to get your money from the store. Called the store and again was told no you have to call the customer service #. Called again and was told same thing. Go to store. Asked to speak to a supervisor only to be told they were all in a meeting call back later. Called back 2x more only to be now they were all busy. Called again the next day in the am (a Saturday) only to be told all the supervisors were again in an all day meeting and to call back after 4:30pm. No one has returned emails or phone calls to discuss refunding me my money for items purchased and not received. Absolutely the worst in customer service recovery. I will never ever do business with Sonic again.
This app has a peculiar ability to ignore all user input. This evening, I was trying to order and whenever I pressed checkout, it would alert me that the location I’ve selected was “far away” and despite it having precise access to my location, it kept giving me that prompt for a location that was 10 miles away, despite the fact that I was already at the desired sonic, I’ve never been to the far sonic in my life, and there were 4 sonics between them! And when I selected my desired sonic, it would load for 30-45 seconds and then give me the same prompt again when I wanted to checkout! It did that even after I tried to restart the app. It wasn’t an issue with my device, since it was the only app I had open, and I had an excellent 4 bars of service! I had to order without the app. This isn’t the only time the app has failed us. Once it said the order failed when I tried to log in to the stall, and so I placed an order again to use a discount and as it turns out, the order had went through! So I ended up having to pay for 2 orders! But even that’s not all the trouble I’ve had! Recently they rebranded the app, which changed the layout of everything, and made just getting the most basic order trivial. I truly despise this decrepit app, who not only wasted my time and money, but also feels like it’s been draining the sanity out of me trying to order the most simple items!
So convenient and 1/2 priced drinks always through the app?. I love that certain deals are only through the app thus encouraging use of it. You get half priced drinks always when ordering through the app. Meaning it’s happy hour any time. I mean that enough is a steal if a deal. What more could you ask for? In this day and age everyone has at least one or two apps on their phone that aren’t productive and they really don’t need…. I encourage you… even if you are out of storage, replace the non productive with the Sonic app because it won’t disappoint. Lastly, when you pull in to Sonic to pick up all you have to do is check in by putting the stall number (located in the bottom left hand corner of the screen above the red button you have to press to order) into the app and your name immediately pops up on the screen letting you know where Sonic is in regards to your order. (Received, paid, in the kitchen and on the way if I remember correctly or something along those lines)
Can’t even access my acct/ unhelpful customer support. EDIT: Don’t get your hopes up for continued use! After speaking with Sonic customer support, it is clear they are contracting with a company and have zero control over the app. They don’t tell Sonic why accounts are deactivated, which is what has happened to mine. The deactivated accounts cannot be re-activated and I refuse to create another email account just for this ridiculous app. There is 1 star because at least one star is required. I’ve been using the app for most of the summer. There have been issues, but they were easily fixed. A few days ago I attempted to add money to my gift card to make a purchase (which is a whole different issue). It kicked me out of the app right as I confirmed the reload. I opened the app again and was asked to login. My email and password were not accepted. I attempted to reset my password several times, but I never received the email to do this. I even tried to login from a PC. When I emailed customer service, I included an outline of the steps I took. What did they do? They told me to do all those same steps as if they hadn’t read my email. Talk about not listening to your customers. What a waste of time. Many of the reviews on here are good- just wait and see. I will call them, but after reading some of the other reviews, I don’t expect to receive good or competent customer service.
Made me buy a giftcard to pay...then declined that giftcard. TL;DR This app just sold me a giftcard that was declined. Thats the only option it offers to pay and it doesn’t even work. I was attempting to pay after waiting in line for an hour just to get a drink on a particularly hot day. I had recently come to the same sonic and payed 2.26 for a large slush. I had 3$ cash but this time it came up to be 3.74. No big deal. I had recently had my wallet with my bank card stolen which hadn’t posed an issue since 95% of places take apple pay so I didn’t think twice about not having it until I got to a stall and realized they only accept cash and debit OR you could use their app. I attempted to pay through the app. I had to buy a giftcard and pay with that. After buying a giftcard. The giftcard was declined. I reset the app, thinking it must take a second to hit the system. Declined again. Reset my phone. Declined again. At this point the server showed up with a small size of the drink I ordered a large of because he saw my payment wasn’t going through. I explained my situation and he let me go without paying because he could see I was doing everything right...very embarrassing and not beneficial to anyone but Sonic who sold me a 5$ giftcard I’ll apparently never be able to use. Next time. Ill just make sure to have cash.
Would be 5 stars.... 1. ...if they started prepping your order as soon as you tapped “I’m Here” instead of waiting for your stall number. So I can have them start prepping before I get there so that it’s almost ready by the time I get there. Sometimes I get stuck at the stop light right next to my local Sonic and this would alleviate the trip time. This is functionality that the Chick-fil-A app has had for about 5 years now. 2. ...if they allowed you to combine gift cards to be on your “Sonic Card”. I have 3 separate gift cards but because not 1 of this is enough for my total order, I have to use 1 sonic card and then pay with my credit card for the rest. This is functionality that Starbucks has had for about 10 years now. I love Sonic and their food. My wife worked there through high school and part of college. They just always seem behind the times when it comes to the conveniences of fast food and unfortunately their app falls into that same category....
Horrible service. I placed my order on the app and checked-in at 10:03 pm. App showed my order should be ready at 10:09 and stall screen showed I was checked-in. At 10:12, I realized the stall screen no longer showed me checked-in and my order was processed on the app so I pressed th call button. The girl accidentally hung up on me but was delivering another order and came to see what I needed. I asked her about my order and that it was supposed to be ready and nothing in the screen, she said oh that’s means it’s coming…. At 10:21, I presses the call button again and asked them to cancel my order because I was annoyed that I had been waiting for nearly 20 minutes while other cars had come and gone since I got there. The woman tells me they’re just waiting on my tots. I said no cancel it, she can’t cancel it and says I have to cancel it. I said I don’t see where to cancel order, she comes outside and looks at my phone and can’t find it, I said it looks like the order was already processed as served. She says well your drink is ready (a coke -__-) we’re just waiting on your chili cheese tots. This is the SECOND time I’ve used the app to place an order and WAITED and NEVER got my food. It does not take 20 minutes to make some tots. I won’t be back. I will call corporate for a FULL refund.
App is good but could be better. I have used the app several times now. I appreciate the 1/2 price soda perk and the monthly coupons to try different meals. Please keep that going. Ordering is fairly easy but there are several issues that should be addressed. First, there is no easy way to order drive thru. You have to put a number down but that isn’t always an option. Several stores in my area have stopped doing the car hoping. This means only drive-thru is available. I recommend an option to pick up an order in the drive-thru. Second, there is no way to tell that what you are ordering isn’t available. You need to make it easier for business to communicate with app orderers when that is the case. Several times I’ve had to get something else or just get reimbursed. Not fun. Finally, there are times when I’ve been totally ignored despite ordering ahead. Wait times of over 45 minutes for ice cream. What? There needs to be a way to ask for status if after 10 minutes or so you don’t see anyone (the button was not working). Maybe an indicator that estimates a time and when time is not met a person can provide a status like “sorry the ice cream machine just broke”. Or “we just have two people working here your patience is appreciated”. That’s it. Fix those things and you’ll have a great app and a better business.
Constant Logging In. The app itself is fine once you’re in it. It doesn’t show prices in the basket, which is annoying, but not a problem. HOWEVER, *every single time* I open the app, I have been “logged out of my account for my protection”, and have to click through the OK button on every single current promo, and click the OK button on the log out notice popup itself three times, before it will even let me log in again. If they want a login screen every time you open the app, fine, do that, but the “you’ve been logged out” and making me spam buttons for five minutes has literally driven me to close the app and order from elsewhere on more than one occasion. It’s Face ID compatible, why not just put one default Face ID login screen on open, WITHOUT making me click ok on a bunch of notices for things I never asked for anyway? “For my privacy” it’s MY APP on MY PHONE, if I wanted to be logged out every time I’d use an incognito browser. It’s a fast food app, not my bank, the security measures are far more annoying than anything else. Taco Bells app logs you out every time, but it gives you a login screen when you open the app, not tell you that they’ve logged you out. McDonald’s app keeps you logged in regardless. Sonic, please take some UI advice from better apps.
Great with the occasional blunder. For the most part, I like the app but don’t necessarily love it. I don’t see that’s it’s been any faster from start to finish when I arrive at Sonic. I do like the 1/2 drinks without having to pay attention to “Happy Hour”. To be honest, I would rarely go to Sonic for a drink when I can easily go into QT (Quick Trip) and get a drink for $1.09. I have started using Sonic again because of the 1/2 drinks. If this changes, I probably will once again quit going. Twice now, I have pulled up, selected “I’m here”, entered my stall number, recurved my confirmation that my order was being prepared, and 10 min later, I still didn’t have my drink (1 order), and drink & fried cheese for the other. When I alerted them, they said the notification that I was here didn’t come through. This happened at 2 different locations. On a third order,A message came across the screen that said something along the lines of “oops, something went wrong. Please press the red button”. When I did, they said that everything was fine and the order would be right out.
Error , issue , problem, etc.. Words you’ll see a whole lot if you plan on using his app to order Sonic and utilize Happy Hour discount. It doesn’t want to make my card , it says error when I go to pay. Switch to another card , now they’re having “ technical issues “ I’m starting to actually think they do it on purpose so that people just pay full price since they’re already there or on the way . Because the app never ever works when I try to access any kind of reward/discount/offer . Another cool thing , I went there to use an offer on the mobile app for half off on an item , when I went to checkout , it says there’s an issue and they couldn’t place the order . So I close it out and restart , but my reward is now gone . Sonic themselves tell me they can’t do the order , and then take away the reward like I used it. Why offer these things if you don’t want people to use them . I drove 20 mins for Sonic to leave frustrated and hungry . Probably the last time for me. Especially since the time I came before that , a friend and I where left out at a booth waiting for our food for close to an hour - they seem to completely neglect anybody not in the drive thru . We could’ve went thru the drive thru 5 times waiting for our order
Rewards and App. I’ve been using app for years now and it’s seldom that I get rewards. I’m a minimum of 2-4x week customer and have submitted questions asking about the rewards program with no response. Last week I updated the app and have tried three days now to get the ‘Craving Something Discounted’ $1.99 Footlong Chili Cheese Coney but it doesn’t work . Pretty discouraging to think you’re getting semi rewarded for being a loyal customer to only be let down. Then being charged one price for a burger and extra if you add cheese only to find that the “Plain” Sonic Cheeseburger is the same price as the Sonic Cheeseburger $5.29 but you get all the condiments on it vs plain. Yet I can get a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger (with jr patties) for $3.49 or Super Sonic Double Cheeseburger (regular patty) is $7.19. I guess produce has really skyrocketed for there to be a $4 price difference. I just feel like maybe someone should be taking a closer look at price/cost of menu items and reevaluate vs having it appear misleading. Most times people don’t really look at the price differences on overall menu items ; myself included. However, after the last several days of irritation I began reviewing to really see these things I mentioned .
Really Disappointed. I downloaded the app around 2 years ago and for the first year and 5 months it was excellent! The info saved properly, my order suggestions updated each time, it saved my favorite locations and I used it several times a week! Then it updated and kept kicking me out of the app. Every time I wanted to place a quick order I had to go through the whole ordeal of signing back in and waiting for the page to load. Then it would delete my card info so I’d spend more time entering that. It never saved my favorite location and kept trying to send me miles away and would make me re-enter the order all together when I finally had the correct location saved. But I love sonic and so I kept the app until this week. I work 10 hours a day and my lunch break is before 2pm occasionally I like to treat myself and coworkers to a happy hour beverage and would use the app. My card was deleted from the app (not by me!) and now the option to redownload it is not available I have to sign up for Apple Pay and use that. I’m done and may just give up sonic altogether and go to the gas station less frequently for their drinks. The hassle of trying to keep up with the app now is more effort than I’m willing to put in to just have drinks brought to my car and exchange pleasantries with the employees. 10/10 do NOT recommend the app it works until it doesn’t and when it doesn’t it is extremely frustrating and time consuming to deal with.
When the app works, it’s great….. …..But when it doesn’t it causes a lot of issues. I have on precise location and etc for the app. However, sometimes when arriving to pick up my order the app won’t recognize that I am at the restaurant. Other times. The app will show that I paid and my card gets charged but when I arrive to the restaurant, the screen takes me back to check out to pay again and I have to use the button on the ordering kiosks to explain the situation. Last night, a common issue happened again. We arrived at the restaurant to pick up our order and the app didn’t have a check-in option. It defaulted back to the main screen as if no order had been placed. I had to explain that the app isn’t allowing me to check in. Also, I wish the app showed when items wasn’t in stock (like the banana milkshake for example). We waited about 30 minutes for our order on Wednesday evening and the employee had to come out to explain they was out of banana and asked me if I wanted to replace it with another shake. I did because the last time I opted not to my refund was never sent back to me for the missing shake. She made it super quick but that 30 minute wait was brutal. The app just seems to have a lot of issues that could use some updates. I was going to do the Christmas gift card deal but I honestly don’t trust the app enough to do it.
App deceptive. The app continues to be deceptive as I stated in my last review. My last review apparently removed. They extended an offer to me and I drove 15 mins to take advantage of it. Arrived at sonic and it won’t let me submit the order in the app. Asked employee for help redeeming the offer and they refused to help. Said that the app stops working after a certain time, they’re not sure when. Anyway ultimately just drove back home. Customer service reached out offering to compensate me by sending the offers that expired due to the snafu, as well as my time. They acted very genuine and I was surprised to receive such a response. However, I’ve replied to their message asking for my account email address four times. Over a period of two months. Never a reply back. Don’t expect any good customer service for problems encountered. They’ve taken the “fit our mold and if not then oh well” attitude. Very anti-customer. Will update if anything changes, but even if it does, months isn’t an acceptable timeframe for rectification. Better late than never however. Will be a statement that tells me whether that was another snafu, or if they just regularly ignore customers… good luck and make sure you read all of the terms and conditions, etc.
The new update only causes problems. The recent update that changed the apps layout has only made everything more aesthetically pleasing. Ever since this change there have been multiple issues every time I use the app which is semi frequent. Every time I load the app, I have to re-sign in which is inconvenient, it never did that before. Then occasionally it will say I’m too far away from the sonic that I’m sitting in the stall for(my location settings are fine). Another issue I’ve been having is when trying to check in for an order it tells me that there’s already an order in progress preventing me from checking into the stall from my app when there’s no other order from my device and I must check in with the red button and tell them I have a mobile order. Lastly and the most common, running into a “we’re having technical difficulties please try again later” message that pops up when trying to check out. This happens more often than not and I’ve tried closing out the app and restarting it and nothing helps and I always end up having to order at the stall which eliminates any deals I have within the app as well as any half priced items you can only get within the app. It’s more of a hassle to use the app now than it would be to pay full price for everything. What’s the point of even trying to use the app if it repeatedly fails?
The most useless app ever. Seems like a good idea, but here’s a national chain unable or unwilling to create an app that will actually allow you to order food. It constantly signs you out, and when it used to accept payment card info, it’d be lost when you went to pay for your order…but if you force-closed the app, then reopened it, your order was still there, and NOW your payment cards were shown. However, it couldn’t last…when I signed back in today, the app shows none of the cards I had previously saved, and (the icing on the cake) now it won’t save any new card I try to use…and even though I’ve got Apple Pay set up, the app doesn’t show it as an eligible payment option. Save yourself the trouble, and eat somewhere else, a place where they respect their customers enough to provide an app that actually works, and doesn’t waste 20 minutes of your lunch hour fooling around, only to find you can’t complete your order.
Better with this update. Whatever the most recent update you did the app seems to be working better. I liked the original app and found the new app (before this recent update) had multiple issues. 1. It wouldn’t keep me logged in 2. Issues when it came to checkout where even sometimes it wouldn’t work u til I hard closed the app and started over. 3. And my biggest issue before was that it never updated your location if the “closest” or to the sonic you were at. The old app had no issue with the location thing but this app it was a big issue, even if I was in a different state/county it would always go to the sonic I was at prior. Today it actually updated the location to the sonic I was at. I also believe the graphics were better and the app felt more user friendly since this recent update. This update is a stark improvement from the prior versions. Honestly should the location thing not continue to be an issue I’ll probably come back and change my review to give stars. We will see.
Disappointing.. I have used the app several times and it is a hit or miss. Very typical to have the payment options give errors or not allow a payment method to be added...even when it has been used previously. I have also had a fraud issue as the day after I made an app order, my card was used for another sonic app order in another state which caused me to have to get a new debit card and was inconvenient as I had to address all of my autopay account with other companies. On the incidents where I had to restart an order due to issues with the payment options, I lost my rewards because it indicated it was applied to a previous order....although that order was never placed because the app wouldn’t allow the payment option to be added. Finally, it is also hit or miss when you pick up at the restaurant. I have had to sit for 15-20 minutes after arriving and checking in for an order. I reach out to the staff from the stall and they say they are “working on it”. A couple times the food has come out cold in these situations...which means obviously they weren’t working on it, there was clearly on oversight issue. So, when it works, it okay...but I would say that is only about 40% of the time. I really like Sonic and I will continue to go, but they really need to get the app up to speed and the restaurant better at managing app orders. ***I very rarely have issues when I just go to the restaurant and order in person***
Like the rewards. Wish gift cards were handled better. Updating my review after the new app launch: I’ve never had so many issues trying to use an app. The new design is pretty but the usability is terrible. Trying to find the right location is a pain, half the time the locations aren’t accepting mobile orders, and payments fail to process for no apparent reason. I had to uninstall and reinstall to get a recent update to work; now my gift cards don’t work. I called support; no resolution or follow up weeks later. I also have several GC sitting at $1 or less but can’t do anything because there’s no way to combine them or do partial payment (Panera’s new app does this so I know it’s definitely possible.) Probably done with Sonic for awhile. —- I really like the perks of using this app - rewards, Happy Hour pricing all the time, and the ability to order from the full menu in the app. I also like that you can load gift cards in the app to use as payment. I don’t like to pay via credit card for small balances, and rarely carry cash. The app used to allow you to merge gift card balances to make better use of dwindling gift balances. However, that was changed awhile back and now it’s really annoying to have gift balances that sit at under $1, waiting to be used. I wish they’d restore the ability to merge balances.
Very Frustrated. I normally would say that I love the convenience behind the app since I tend to take awhile to figure out what I want to eat, but lately that doesn’t even matter. Over a month ago I started having an issue with app where it wouldn’t let me go to the checkout screen after selecting my order. The message, “Somethings Not Right. There was an error trying to create your order. Please try again.”, appears when I try to check out. And when I click ‘ok’ it sends me on a loop where I can’t get out unless I act quick and hit a back arrow. I’ve reached out to support with details, and was replied to with an email asking for more information. I gave them all the info I could along with a screenshot of the error message. It’s been a couple weeks now since I replied, and still haven’t received any word on how to fix this. I then sent them a new support message stating this situation and the fact that I am not being helped, but I’m sure that since I sent that out days ago, I shouldn’t expect any help at all. I don’t like giving negative feedback about something that usual works fine for me but this is ridiculous to have not only the problems I’m having, but to have all these other problems that other users clearly have. Does anyone in that company want to make this better? Guess not.
Limited Options for order customizations. Overall I like the app for its ability to order ahead and the 1/2 price drink and slush offer is really great. However, the app is very limited when it comes to order customizations for even simple things. Like, why can’t I order a cream slush through the app? There’s no drink option for cream slush, and there’s no option to add ice cream to a regular slush. I order cream slush frequently but since I can’t order through the app, I can’t order ahead when I want a cream slush. Lol For someone who can’t eat bread, it’s weird that I can remove the bread from some burgers, but for others the option is locked and I can’t remove the bun. The option to remove the bun from the hot dog is also locked. These things should be unlocked for the customer to customize their order, especially if it’s something they can easily do when requested at the window. I also think it would be helpful to add an “order comments” section for special order requests that the app isn’t built to accommodate, like if a food item should be excluded from the order but the option is oddly locked for some reason. 🤔
Hate the update!!!!. Before the update, however long ago that was, the app worked great. I could immediately get on it and know exactly the balance on my sonic card, and while I was in the drive-thru line I could reload it if I didn't have enough $ on it to cover my order. Since the update it does not maintain my balance. The balance it shows is always the amount after I reload the card, it doesn't deduct my transactions from the balance...the transactions are all listed in the transactions tab, but not deducted from the balance shown on the card page. This is very frustrating because I don't have time to sit there and try to figure up what my balance is based on the listed transactions, so when I go to pay for my order I find out that I do not have enough $ on my card and then have to either use a different form of payment or reload the card and then use it. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! I just want to know my balance please.
To customer “ArlinJames”. Wow…what an amazing review you wrote on Sept 17. Thank you for reminding us that we have the power to make our world what we want it to be. We can choose to be that customer who is impatient, annoyed, judgmental and unkind, or we can choose to be gracious, kind, understanding, and generous. Either way, we will make an impact on others, which can easily impact the next person(s) they interact with…and with that, a ripple effect has been put into motion. I am nowhere close to being perfect; I can be that rude customer who no one wants to deal with. I can be that person who pushes someone who is barely holding it together past their breaking point. I am grateful to have learned to keep things in perspective…most of the time. I am grateful to have learned how easy it really is to offer grace and kindness…most of the time. And I am grateful for second chances, because there are still so many times that I get it wrong. Horrible customer service. I asked if this location has the app available because the app was saying unavailable at this location. Then I pressed the red button to ask and his attitude about the situation was very disrespectful. So I then saw an employee taking food to a stall and I asked the African American female. She explained to me that it should work but sometimes the system does go down but that should not be the case. She said can f I tried another stall it should work or order from the stall. I explained to her that I would not get the same discounts. So I changed stalls and she was correct. This issue needs to be handle. You will loose customers with that type of behavior being displayed at your business I was going to leave and go to another fast food restaurant like McDonald’s. This needs to be fixed and he was a young Caucasian employee taking the orders over the speaker. He needs a lower position. He might be spitting in peoples food I do not know with that kind of attitude and behavior needs to be examined.
Such a good app but needs little improvement. Sonic app is one of my absolute favorite apps to use I actually use it on the daily as I look forward to my daily sonic trips! I find it tedious that there isn’t an option for “extra” when it comes to anything down from condiments to extra adds in drinks such as the nerds candy or real fruit options. I know that before you enter the stall number in the app you can press the button on the drive ins and ask for extra whatever when it comes to your mobile order but it would add a lot more ease to customers if they had that option themselves in the app. Saves us time especially if we are placing it ahead of time for pickup! Once again this app I would 100% recommend to friends and family in fact I have brought many people to the app! I’m talking to them everyone I have introduced to the sonic app agrees an extra or light option would be super convenient I hope you take this review into consideration as the ease of placing an order would increase tremendously! Thank you for doing what you have and making ordering from the sonic app super easy and a delight!
Horrible Customer Service. I am appalled at the customer service from sonic. I’ve been trying to rectify an issue I’ve been having for now going on three days. I have a gift card that is added into my app yet I am unable to use. I added money to the gift card also as originally I was told the issue was that my order was more than the total of the gift card. Even after doing that I still kept getting an error message when trying to pay. I then had to pay out of pocket for my order - so a $10 gift card has now cost me $25, and I still have not been able to access use to the gift card. When I called in each department passed the buck to the next department, only to finally be told that since I’ve tried logging in and out, updating the app, trying to process on the website, etc there is nothing else they can do they will have to escalate the issue to another team. When I mentioned how ridiculous this was that I still am unable to use this gift card and asked why they couldn’t do something like cancel it and reissue me a new one, I go no answer other than “we’ll pass this along”. I’m really disappointed in Sonic’s lack of care to rectify this issue.
Love it!. Update: they updated the app and it’s working perfectly now. I agree with another user about starting a point system so reward frequent customers with more offers. Definitely would come here more often if more offers were available or a point per dollar was offered. This used to be my favorite app until it started crashing. Always asking me to log in again when I’m halfway done placing my order. Then it either says technical error and won’t let me order or it will place the order but when I try to tell there app I’m here it says I have multiple orders and it won’t let me pick a stall. I have to buzz the store to let them know I’ve arrived. And to top it all off the rewards offers are on the app and 1/2 drinks all day but you can’t use those perks if the app won’t let you order. You have to pay full price if you really have your heart set on eating sonic.

Great, but missing one thing…. Alright, Sonic, I mostly love your app. It’s laid-out well. It’s easy to use. It makes sense. It keeps me from having to hang halfway out the window of my truck to run my card in the stall. Your app makes my life easier in so many ways. However, I need one little thing, and I need it badly. I need to be able to check someone else in from home. I LOVE ordering food for my boys and my husband while they’re out and about and checking them in to get their food when they get there. I do it at McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, and many more places without a hitch or a glitch. The Sonic app, however, gives me grief. It will not let me check them into their stall if it detects that I am not close enough. Everyone else has a “check in anyway” link or button to fix this issue, but your app stubbornly assumes everyone is ordering for themselves. Help a girl out, Sonic. We love ya!
Don’t waste your time using this. Had the worst experience with this app. They were out of all the items for my order and it took staff about 10-15 minutes after I had already arrived and checked in for them to tell me that they couldn’t fulfill my order. After asking for a refund staff directed me to use the app to request it. So after putting in a claim I was contacted once to alert me that they had received a claim and wanted additional information to follow up on it. I gave them all the Info and after a week of waiting to hear anything I only received an email asking me to complete a questionnaire over my experience with cut toner service. I sent them another notification asking for an update which led me to believe they had went ahead and ignored my first request. After that on the same day they sent me two emails and finally notified me of my refund that would be given in about 5-10 business days. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME ORDERING THROUGH HERE unless you have complete faith that everything will be okay. Cause goodluck seeing that refund in a timely fashion.
User UN-friendly!. I used to really like this app a lot. It used to be fully functional, and it allowed for all things a fast food app should-ordering ahead, customizing orders, saving recent history for reorders, etc. Well, the current version does those things, but they have severely screwed up the card reloading process; as in, you can’t do it anymore. My Sonic card is sitting at a $0 balance, and there is absolutely no easy-to-find way to add $20. Even on the website, I can’t find a way to process a one-time manual reload of my Sonic card. I suppose I could enable auto-reloads (which would take 2 days to process, and I never do them in order to have better spending control), or pay directly with my credit card (which defeats the benefit of using a Sonic card). Overall, with no manual card reload functionality, this thing is just an ordering robot, with pretty much no benefit to its use. Might as well just use the drive-thru. I’m deleting this thing off my phone immediately, and don’t recommend it! I’m tempted to lower patronage of Sonic due to the lack of consideration for customers...we’ll see.

Failed to Authenticate. I have always logged into the Sonic app with my Apple ID, because it’s just easier for me. A few days ago I made a purchase on the app, and when I pulled up to the store it had logged me out. In trying to log back in with my Apple ID it kept telling me it “failed to authenticate” and would not let me log in. So I had to manually check in by telling the lady at sonic what was happening. It has continued to do this. I cannot make a new account, as my email is in use via my Apple ID. But I also cannot reset my password, as sonic never send me the email to do so, since I logged in via my Apple ID. I’ve reached out to support and their solution was to update my app, despite me telling them I’d already done that and it didn’t fix the issue. Hopefully in a bit here they can get this fixed and I can update my review. But until then this app is functionally useless for me and a waste of space on my phone. It is insane how many fast food companies have horribly glitchy apps like this.
You will not get refund. The deals are great and app is simple to use, but today I tried to use a deal and it didn’t apply and I’ve even double triple checked and the deal will not work no matter what I do. The drive in won’t be able to fix it, (they told me it’s on a completely different system)at the store and you will have to contact customer support which will then say they will give you a gift card and something or whatever right off the bat so this is a common problem, the issue starts when you want your cash back that you were incorrectly charged, they will then send a request to the drive in you visited for them to issue you a review and if successful give you a refund from the drive in you visited, see how this works? Everything is very frustrating and they do everything they can to not give you your money back for no fault of your own. Stay away far away from the mobile app, I will not go to a sonic drive in for the rest of my life I can promise you that 100%, congrats sonic you successfully turned away a customer because of your incompetence.
FREE FOOD!. Listen, I want my local Sonic to get paid. But you are crazy if you think I’m going to pay TWICE for my food. I absolutely HATE THIS APP. 4/5 times I reload and try to use it (to actually PAY for my food) it doesn’t work. I can’t order at the stall and pay with the app, I can’t order from home and pay with the app. The only time it seems to work is by ordering at the drive thru. Today’s saga ended with me (and my kids) sitting in my car for about 15 minutes after I was given my food, once again. The poor managers hands are tied because they can’t figure out how to get the money from the app, into their system. And let me tell you, if another Sonic employee comes up to me and tells me that I need to use a different form of payment for my order, AFTER I’ve already reloaded my card with $10, I’m gonna loose my mind! YOU ALREADY HAVE MY MONEY, SONIC!!! I’M NOT PAYING YOU AGAIN!!!!! And, to top it off, there is no way to use the full amount in your app. You always have to reload. Until they allow two forms of payment, you will NEVER get your full moneys worth out of this app. Unless you like making Sonic managers so frustrated that their only option is to tell you to drive away without paying them. It’s not right. I don’t want them to get yelled at by customers anymore because of a problem that comes from corporate. Fix the app, SONIC! Let me pay for my food using the money I’ve already given you.
Seems useless. I thought I would download the app because I keep seeing signs at my sonic to order ahead. And I thought this would be awesome because it seems they never can hear me at my sonic. And I always end up having to scream my order at them. But after doing this, it asked me I’m up for a road trip, because no stores within 50miles from me will do a Mobile pay. So I’m kinda confused on that part. Also from what I see, you’re forced to buy a virtual card. So unless I want to drive Over 50miles to use it, I won’t be doing that. Also, what if my totally is $5.33 and i have to buy $10 cars? I’d rather not have a balance in some app that could potentially lose information. This is just stupid. I thought it would work like McDonald’s works. Order your food. Go to the restaurant, and check in and it uses your debit/credit card to purchase. Easy peasy. This was way more complicated than it needed to be. Also, stores: don’t advertise to download the app if you don’t even allow it at your location lol. What a waste of 10min of my life lol.
Good till it’s not.. We are frequent Sonic customers, ordering through the app 2-3 times a week. Because of the pre-paid nature of app orders, I’ve had a difficult time receiving refunds when product isn’t available. Most recently we ordered 2 blasts and 3 sundaes through the app and when we arrived at the store were informed the ice cream products were not available. I sent a support message through the app and first reply said they couldn’t find my account? Strange but I sent back the requested info. No reply for 2 weeks. I sent another message and received a reply that no such charge existed on their end. I replied and asked them to escalate. I received another reply that the charge is not there and must be pending (but it cleared my account 3 weeks ago!). Ridiculous!! $23 order that I never received. I filed a dispute with my bank and attached the correspondence and it was found in my favor and refunded in less than 24 hrs. This is a significant flaw in the app. If product isn’t available, there has to be an easier way to get credit!
Efficient, Free, AND Discounts??. So a lot of places have swapped over to doing these apps instead of manpowering cashiers and the like... but, Sonic does not appear to have cut any jobs. You can still order in person. So they’ve taken some of the weight off the cashiers which is surprising since they also offer their 1/2 priced drinks whenever you order thru the app no matter what time of day it is. The only thing I’d point out is that their flavor shots seem to transmit wrong at times to the location and the guy or gal comes out and says, “Diet Cherry” instead of regular. The food is still fast food. It’s a few steps better than McDonalds or Burger King, but ultimately it’s still fast food. Mistakes do still happen with your orders to where you have to have the food itself corrected... ordering with any modifications to standard menu in a high volume production line though at some point people are going to go on autopilot and make that 500th burger as-is without paying attention to what you actually ordered. But you get what you pay for. I digress. Ultimately the app has a couple little hang ups with ordering, but the discounts are on point and require no fees. Just the usual marketing sign up with your email address. You can order ahead and check in, food is brought out to you promptly upon arrival. I like this app.
Doesn’t work since last update. I am a frequent flyer to Sonic it’s my go to for a drink. The app is the only way to get half price drinks and I love it. However after the last update I’ve been having issues and the location in my town says to call and I do but they do not help me. It’s now taking forever to load and then charges my card whilst loading. Then when I push check in after it FINALLY loads it says “ there was a problem with your payment, push the red button and a carhop will help you.” But it’s already charged my card. Then 15 mins later refunds that. This leads to me NOW having to pay full price and I’ve just not even gone back since this. Can y’all PLLLEEEAASSEE update the app to stop all of this. Mine is up to date and I’ve done nothing different. You see my account and how much I use the app. Please help me. Email me back about this.
PROBLEM FIXED. For a period of roughly a year i had continuously returned to add to my initial review, complaining about a bug in the app that made me unable to "check in". It would always just tell me i was too far away, this happened dozens of times for nearly a year and i begged and begged them to fix it. Idk if i can call it a fix but at least you can call it a workaround. They finally added the ability to override the location check, you simply have to turn off location services completely, then check in and it gives an option to check in without gps. Some may think that isnt addressing the issue, but i am rather thankful. So i finally updated my 3 star rating to 5. And as i stated before, to remind everyone, these reviews are intended to be for the app itself, not your local Sonic restaurant. But for the record, i would give them 5 stars as well, if not obvious by how much i wanted the app to work properly
Better than I ever expected!. I’m a huge fan of the drinks, & shakes . I had stopped going to Sonic for many years because it took forever to receive the order. Everything melted and literally Luke warm. Last year, it was late and slim pickings for food so I drove in to a stall and ordered, expecting to be there for the next 20 min or so waiting……. I was so wrong! My order was out within 5 minutes ! ( a combo meal) My server noticed my shock, lol, I explained my expectations and she said that they had really started working on their times! YESSIREE, they did! I’m not here more than 2 minutes if I order on the app before my server is approaching me. This is every sonic I have been to the last couple years! And being able to tip in the app is still helpful for me as well! Good job sonic! 299% better than before! Great smiling faces, fast service and Cherry limeade! Love love love!
Need to add a way to order floats. The app has pretty much everything you might want, except a way to order order floats. I was driving an 86-year-old lady to an appointment and she wanted a float in the way home. Since there was no way to order it in the app and I didn’t have a card with me, I ordered a drink with no ice and a dish of ice cream. On arrival, I pushed the button and asked if they could put the ice cream in the soda and make it a float. After cutting me off three times, the (incredibly rude) young man said no. When he came out and I asked why not, his reply was that they’re not allowed to. When I said there was nowhere in the app to order one already made, he shrugged and said to order it in person next time. So, I got to walk over to the trash can, pour out half of her soda, drop the ice cream into her cup, then throw away the unneeded dish and lid. Completely absurd. Also, it might be a good time to add a button allowing you to undo the tip. $1 isn’t a lot, but why tip someone for bad service and an ugly attitude?
Works ok until it does not. I have used this app quite a bit. They have messed up orders, but I check there and they fix immediately. I would not have left a review until my last experience. I told some people about the 50 cent corn dog deal, and ordered dinner for my family on the way home from work. When I pick up the order, they gave me the drinks, but they are out of corn dogs. They then tell me they can’t give me a refund, and I have to go through the app. I then have to call and wait for twenty minutes until I get someone, then tell them my name number and read them an autogenerated email because I used Apple to log in. After 7-10 days I should get my refund. I understand if this only affected me, or was a one off. I feel terrible for everyone else who tries to get corn dogs after me, but the WORST part was every single person I told had the exact same experience. How can stores not communicate with an app, and why can you not stop orders after a store is out? Also, why can’t a store just issue a refund? Thank you for making me make people I care about suffer through the same experience too.
Gift Card Use is Very Frustrating. I used to love this app HOWEVER I recently got several sonic gift cards for Christmas and decided I would just load them on to my app to make my life easier .... but then came to realize that you cannot combine your gift card balances! The Sonic app only allows you to check out with one gift card at a time. So for example my meal today cost $7.50 and I have two $5 sonic gift cards, however instead of being able to pay $10 in gift cards and have $3.50 left over, I can only pay with one gift card or the other and have to “reload” the gift card in order to cover my balance. This is extremely frustrating and makes it so that I will probably never be able to fully empty my cards without reloading. Just another way for them to make more money. Even Starbucks has a way on their app to transfer a balance from one gift card to another so that you can use the full balance of multiple gift cards combined! Sonic should definitely do that! If I would have known this was going to happen I would never have loaded my gift cards on to my app. So very frustrating.
Would be 5 stars.... 1. ...if they started prepping your order as soon as you tapped “I’m Here” instead of waiting for your stall number. So I can have them start prepping before I get there so that it’s almost ready by the time I get there. Sometimes I get stuck at the stop light right next to my local Sonic and this would alleviate the trip time. This is functionality that the Chick-fil-A app has had for about 5 years now. 2. ...if they allowed you to combine gift cards to be on your “Sonic Card”. I have 3 separate gift cards but because not 1 of this is enough for my total order, I have to use 1 sonic card and then pay with my credit card for the rest. This is functionality that Starbucks has had for about 10 years now. I love Sonic and their food. My wife worked there through high school and part of college. They just always seem behind the times when it comes to the conveniences of fast food and unfortunately their app falls into that same category....
Some bugs. I love using the app for convenience but there are some bugs currently with it that need to be worked out...which is the reason for the 3 stars. There have been several times that I will be sitting at a stall at Sonic and it will tell me that I’m too far away to check in...and other times I will check in and then it tells me something went wrong and I still need to push the button to let them know where I’m at. One day it actually claimed I was checked in and never said any different and after waiting over 20 minutes for a very small order (3 slushes) and seeing many other people who arrived after me receive their orders I stopped a car hop and asked about it and they had never received it. Also there are some options that aren’t available when ordering on the app and you end up having to call in to tell them after you place your order on the app for them to add it which is also an inconvenience. If all of these things were corrected it would be a 5 star app.
No Security Whatsoever!. I don’t normally write reviews for things but I feel like it’s my duty to inform the public when there is potential danger in something. Be VERY careful with this app. I got the app about 2 months ago because my aunt wanted to send me a gift card on it for my birthday. Since then, I’ve used it to make orders and get rewards because it is pretty convenient. However, today I got an email of a receipt saying I spent $82 on an order in Las Angelas.....I live in Alabama. Not only was it super easy for me to be hacked, but the size of the order and the location were not questioned by this app. From this info you can pretty well determine that there is nothing in this app to prevent fraud. I have since deleted my debit card from the app, but I shouldn’t have to do that out of fear of the terrible security Sonic has. And when I called customer service, they simply told me to change my password and contact my bank. That’s it. Not even an apology. I’m usually not the type of person to send food back because it’s not right, or to ask for the manager when I’m slightly inconvenienced, but this is no slight inconvenience. This is a problem that needs to be taken care of.
It’s okay. Pretty convenient at times. Other times it can be a hassle. Some of the options you can select online are not available at certain stores, so you’ll be told to change things at the store from time to time (mini size slushes and shakes aren’t available in my local store guess, use to be tho 🤷♀️) also make sure to use the timing order option. Otherwise your food is just chilling till you arrive. Of it takes ten mins to get to the store set the timed order feature so your food is fresh. **Still can’t order slushies for the wacky pack meals, my local store doesn’t do mini sizes and y’all don’t have an option to make the drink a small slush (even with the up charge) so we ALWAYS have to get a drink she doesn’t want and order the slush separately. It’d be awesome to see this issue fixed. I just wanna be able to get slushies with our kids meals. And our store won’t even let me push the order thru bc it’s an “invalid option”
Love the app BUT. I do love the app. My only complaint is that the stores have the ability to deactivate accepting order aheads when they are out of a particular item. So let's say they are out of something to do with a milkshake special. They can deactivate the app and leave me unable to order ahead for a soda and a snack. When they choose to do this they also refuse to provide the drink discount that I WOULD have received had they not made the decision to suspend order aheads over a milkshake shortage. Now I'm having to wait longer and pay more for what I was trying to order OR I don't go at all and they completely lose revenue. They need to be able to deactivate a particular item instead of the entire app. It would be an easier fix to have the app say that an item is not available. Some sonics seems to be able to do this, but not ours. For reference, the Sonic in question is located in Crestview, FL.
Still glitchy?. Still glitchy? No, because a glitch would be a minor problem. This app continuously fails day after day after day. Ads pop up as soon as you’re able to log on and that’s if you were able to log on. Once the ads pop up, the screen is froze and you can neither log off or continue. Instead, you get the message that your request cannot be processed at this time. There’s nothing you can do. If you delete and remove the app, and then download the app again, you get the same message. After a couple of days, you’ll be able to download the app again without the message and without an ad freezing the screen. Then you’ll be able to use the app one time before the process repeats itself and you have to wait days again. Who needs an app that can only be successfully used every couple of days? No one. The convenience of the app is what took me to Sonic. Without the convenience, there’s no need to go to Sonic and pay over $3.50 for a drink.
Pretty convenient! Always happy hour!. The app is a major game changer ! We live like 2 seconds away from one and we literally live there, since they take care of our breakfast, lunch and dinner a lot of days! They also have awesome reward deals. They started a limited time only flavorista , and it’s now my new fav that I will die when they discontinue it. The lemon cream ! I really wish they would bring back all there cream slushes again. They were the best things sonic had! The only thing that upsets us a tad , is when the Sonic we live at runs out of ice cream on Sundays and I find out when I go pick up my app order . They try to replace the items but , never for something worth the same , because without ice cream a substitute would be a regular drink or slush. One time they got my name and number so i could redeem them later on. One other time I was referred to Customer service where they kindly refunded my money! Now on Sundays I call ahead before ordering on the app!
Love it!. Update: they updated the app and it’s working perfectly now. I agree with another user about starting a point system so reward frequent customers with more offers. Definitely would come here more often if more offers were available or a point per dollar was offered. This used to be my favorite app until it started crashing. Always asking me to log in again when I’m halfway done placing my order. Then it either says technical error and won’t let me order or it will place the order but when I try to tell there app I’m here it says I have multiple orders and it won’t let me pick a stall. I have to buzz the store to let them know I’ve arrived. And to top it all off the rewards offers are on the app and 1/2 drinks all day but you can’t use those perks if the app won’t let you order. You have to pay full price if you really have your heart set on eating sonic.
Doesn’t want you to use the rewards. I have had the sonic app for a long time and it usually works really well. The problem I have had is that the rewards system is a scam. When I use the rewards system it will not let me pay for my order. It says that I can not select a card or even use Apple Pay but if I take the rewards off I can go through my order. Now that is just absurd why would you have the rewards if you can’t even use them ? They have no way you can just place the order and pay at the screen. They people inside can’t help you because it’s threw the app but when you call the app you just sit there for ever and ever and no one answers. I’m very dissatisfied I waited for ever just trying to get my food order and just ended up driving to the other said of town because no one else was serving breakfast. Do better sonic !
App update. I have enjoyed the sonic app for a long time now, but with this new update, I keep having to reset my password, find where I’m supposed to order and customize things, and I’ve never even been able to set up payment, which was seamless before. The only thing I’d like about this app is that it gives you a price for each item without having to go to the cart to see the price. When I do go to the cart and I try to go back, it takes me back to the main menu where I have to find the items all over again. It also doesn’t have the full menu. I was ordering two sonic blasts, and neither one, mainstays, or listed on the app. They were listed on the stall’s menu screen. Neither one of us could actually get what we wanted without ordering through the red button system. And unfortunately, there was too much noise in the store that order to even come out right. Of course, I also had to pay full price for my favorite drink. I hope the app improves. If not, I will have to find a new favorite drink spot.
Tech support is horrible and the updates are useless. I have tried multiple times to log in with my email address, Facebook, and wish Apple ID. Each time I try any of those I am told me email already exists and will not log me in. Of course it already exists because I am trying to use it to log in. I have contacted Sonic a couple of times and still I cannot login. I have clicked the forgot password button multiple times but I never receive a reset email. I have tried t create a new account but guess what? My phone number already exists with a previous account. This is ridiculous. I would even be happy to have my account deleted so that I can sign up again. I was hoping that tech support could at least force a new password to come to my email but I guess they can’t do that either. It does the exact same things if I try this on a browser so it’s the entire thing and not just the app itself. I love the food and the staff at my local drive in is awesome but your app, website, and tech support needs an extreme over haul. Please work on this.
My maumelle sonic rating.. I respect the corporation for bringing a smile to my face everytime I see a wonderful beverage head my way but sometimes the customer service is brutal. In maumelle I know multiple workers at the sonic I go to and I’m friends with all the ones I know but there is one girl who constantly has a bad demeanor towards customers because she assumes they’re all had people out to do bad things. She constantly yells at customers and gets attitudes with everyone no matter the situation. Everyday my friends and I come here to hangout and chill with eachother to send good vibes. Today while we were doing our normal routine I brought a football like I do sometimes to play catch and we avoided the drive in so we wouldnt hit anyone’s cars. We respected all of their rules like we do everytime we are here but this time my friend accidentally threw the football into the restricted playground. Instead of just jumping in and ignoring the rules I walked calmly to the window, knocked, and asked an employee if it would be okay for me to jump the fence to grab my football and he said “yes but just this once, I’ll let everyone know” (said in a very respectful way) but when I went to get the football, right when I jumped it, I heard yelling and I turned to see that girl (also who I didn’t know was the manager until then) screaming that I could’ve died and I “was told” not to go in there so I replied with “yes ma’am, I just went in this one time to get my football and I’m leaving now. I even asked permission” she replied quickly with “I don’t care who you asked... you shouldn’t be throwing footballs around and being dumb. Don’t do this again or I’m kicking you out” and again I respected her wishes, got out of the playground, and said “yes maam, have a wonderful day”. A few moments later she sent one of the more friendly sonic workers to ask us to leave which (he did in a very respectful way) but I still don’t understand why her feelings towards customers is so negative. She’s a teenager too like the rest of us...
App crashes. I agree with the people with iPhones who have had trouble going through complete checkout on the app. I have always loved to use mine even with a limited menu on yet. I don’t know if it has something to do with the performance bug fixes on your app page that showed done a day ago or what. I spent an hour trying to order today’s special promo, the four piece mozzarella sticks for $.99. I kept trying and it wouldn’t let me go to check out, it just blanked out. I even deleted the app and spent all that time going back through and getting it again and having to redo all my information, and it still didn’t work. And I wasn’t only planning on getting one order of $.99 mozzarella sticks, I had 10 items in my order. It added up plus some employee at my local sonic missed out on a good tip. Although that was not their fault. I gave up. I don’t think I’m even going to try it again for quite a while. You can keep your mozzarella sticks, the rewards, your half-price drinks, and everything else on your menu. It’s not worth the hassle until you get this problem fixed.
Easy to use, saves time+money, but sensitive to touch/swiping. Awesome app- great interface, even my grandma could figure it out if I handed her the phone. Took a star off because scrolling through your order/cart can be frustrating as it randomly minimizes and have to keep reopening, which take just a click and isn’t difficult- just annoying. Also, it needs more coupons and discount offerings. I like that you can order ahead and it has discounts and special offers not a available on site. The menu is very easy to navigate and also makes it very easy to customize individual menu items. However- the setup for customizing drinks can put limits on more complex mixtures. But it takes a pretty complicated drink to stump the app. Annoyingly, when scrolling through the “checkout” area or “cart”, because the app is very sensitive to touch and finger placement, it often registers as swiping the cart closed. Since you have to swipe down and lift your finger several times to scroll through the cart, especially if it’s longer, you inevitably have to reopen the cart several times because you touched somewhere in the order summary box that caused it to minimize. That’s the only problem though, and it’s small. Just hoping they can fix that issue in the future. Love the interface, and it clearly explains how to pick-up order and designate where you’re parked. Only thing it really needs is more coupons. Discounts on adding a certain menu items in that specific transaction is nice, but most restaurant apps offer more straight up coupons.
App is good but could be better. I have used the app several times now. I appreciate the 1/2 price soda perk and the monthly coupons to try different meals. Please keep that going. Ordering is fairly easy but there are several issues that should be addressed. First, there is no easy way to order drive thru. You have to put a number down but that isn’t always an option. Several stores in my area have stopped doing the car hoping. This means only drive-thru is available. I recommend an option to pick up an order in the drive-thru. Second, there is no way to tell that what you are ordering isn’t available. You need to make it easier for business to communicate with app orderers when that is the case. Several times I’ve had to get something else or just get reimbursed. Not fun. Finally, there are times when I’ve been totally ignored despite ordering ahead. Wait times of over 45 minutes for ice cream. What? There needs to be a way to ask for status if after 10 minutes or so you don’t see anyone (the button was not working). Maybe an indicator that estimates a time and when time is not met a person can provide a status like “sorry the ice cream machine just broke”. Or “we just have two people working here your patience is appreciated”. That’s it. Fix those things and you’ll have a great app and a better business.
Tips. Get with the program people. No one carries around cash? Not even needed for toll roads anymore. You have have the ability to use state of the art technology & you “could” update your software. I was told that y’all had problems over 10 years ago. Wow! That’s a long time ago. A lot has happened since then. Please allow your employees to get tips by credit card through either the app or on location. Pizza is usually paid for in advance. And customers have the option to add on a tip upon delivery of food. So seriously, y’all have no excuse & your employees may stick around longer & be happier for it. And y’all are not even having to pay them more money, the customers will be glad to do it. It’s a win win win. And there will be smiles all around. You’ll see... Don't be a Scrooge when you don’t even have to be. The more you give, the more you will receive.
No help. I added $20 dollars onto my app and now I’m not able to use the money. I get all the way to the check out after selecting the location and it won’t let me check out. I added the money around the 1st of October and called about it not working on the 10th. Went to try using the app again after being told I need to reset my password which has been done several time and still nothing. Called back in today the 25th a second time and still nothing has been resolved or looked into further. Was told on the phone today they would look into getting the issue resolved but had to look and make sure everything is getting fixed. So apparently I’m screwed out of the $20 I spent to use the app cause nothing has been looked into apparently. Way to treat a customer SONIC!!! Talk about customer service 15 days and still not able resolve the issue.
Good deals but deceitful payment system.. The app offers a lot of great deals like half off all drinks all day BUT only if you order through the app. That’s not a big problem but it is when you’re forced to “load” money by buying Sonic gift cards in dominations of $10, $20, etc. So if you have a small order you’re forced to spend a minimum of $10. Sure, you’ll have what’s left over for the next transaction but when that time comes and you’re short a few cents? You’ll have to load another $10. Ordering through the app itself is slow as it suffers from sluggish performance especially on the payment screens, particularly when you submit payments. This from an iPhone X and fast WiFi. When you use the app near the restaurant I’ve had the order screen completely disappear and without any order history screen or receipt I had to hope that the staff seen my order and wouldn’t ask me for me proof of purchase. Very annoying and discouraging. Save yourself the trouble and hassle and just order in person rather than use this greedy and slow app. You’ll pay a little bit more without the savings but it’s worth it if you can avoid headaches cause by using this app.
New app update is STILL useless. Update June 2025 - App is still prone to problems. Currently havent been able to sign in for a full week. Deleted the app several times, turned phone off and rebooted but nothing works. It would be helpful if app specials were honored in other ways when the app is not working but they aren’t. Update April 2024 - Some of the issues mentioned below like location finding have been fixed, but the app continues to be problematic. The latest issue is, for the past several days, it will not accept any form of payment. Sometimes my credit card information is missing and I have to log out and back in for it to repopulate. But then it still will not process an order using credit card or Applepay which means I cannot get the in app discount. I’ve even tried reloading gift cards. Employees at the store will not honor the discount if there are problems with the app. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app with no success. So starting today, after five years of being Sonic loyal, I am going somewhere else. Previous review - For context, I go to Sonic almost every morning for my diet coke fix. I was only able to use the updated app a few times before it quit working entirely. Every day this week, I get an error message when checking out. Locations wont honor the app discount when the app isnt working so today’s my last day at Sonic for now. My complaint with the update so far is that changing location is difficult. Before the app would automatically note where you were and offer the closest location. Now you have to change screens to select where you are and sometimes it doesnt recognize the change. The first time using I clicked reorder and ordered from a Sonic in another state because I was traveling the day before. Then no way to cancel and no one picks up when you call the location as the app instructs.
Maybe Im just grumpy. Waiting about a month to write this. Ordered a meal and a sundae through the app. Get to the store and they are super busy. Waited over 30 minutes for my food, which I can understand not being on their A game all the time. So I get my food but no sundae. I have to go inside to bring this up and get an apology and that since I ordered through the app I could not get my sundae refunded. I could get a free drink. I said no thank you already have a drink. I will email the company. This is the part that gets me grumpy. Emailed and received a response stating I could get a free drink loaded to my app for my next purchase. I don’t agree with having to spend more money to get less value that Sonic already kept. Now Im out the $3. Not a huge loss but I would have rather given $3 to a person or mom and pop shop and not a large company.
Useless. Doesn’t have any info about how it works. Guess you have to be in the know which I wasn’t. Didn’t see any way to place an order or to pay with phone. Only thing I saw to do was buy their card hoping I could then place an order. Don’t see any point in letting them know where I am (slot drive thru or window) if I’m ordering when I’m already there. Maybe they have different mobile methods available at different locations??? I ended up giving them my credit card info to buy their stinky card with a minimum amount them was unable to purchase anything without going to the store first to ask because mid afternoon on a week day my local store never answered the phone. I’m sure I won’t be able to get a refund and I’m just plain frustrated. Maybe this is how they make money — channeling folks into buying useless cards????? Well I’ll go there and spend the full balance and NEVER GO BACK. NEVER EVER EVER NEVER. Which is too bad since I’m new to my area, the location is great, and the menu sounded delicious. No previous experience with Sonic and now I want nothing to do with them. Short version is the app works great but doesn’t do anything useful.
Better with this update. Whatever the most recent update you did the app seems to be working better. I liked the original app and found the new app (before this recent update) had multiple issues. 1. It wouldn’t keep me logged in 2. Issues when it came to checkout where even sometimes it wouldn’t work u til I hard closed the app and started over. 3. And my biggest issue before was that it never updated your location if the “closest” or to the sonic you were at. The old app had no issue with the location thing but this app it was a big issue, even if I was in a different state/county it would always go to the sonic I was at prior. Today it actually updated the location to the sonic I was at. I also believe the graphics were better and the app felt more user friendly since this recent update. This update is a stark improvement from the prior versions. Honestly should the location thing not continue to be an issue I’ll probably come back and change my review to give stars. We will see.
Have been wondering where you get this overall score. After using the app constantly. I like using it every time I go to sonic as a form of order ahead. As useful as a mobile app this way is that is more targeted to the business for trying to have a utility like this. Big props for that. Unfortunately it falls to the bottom of user experience. First to cover the how they have such a good rating, very simple, they redirect the bad reviews to their own system so they never make it here. After several reviews sent to their system I just got tired of this and spending a bit of extra time to submit the one that counts to me when downloading an app. The user experience is just not enticing to spend some time in it. Navigation makes it feel like a website which to me totally defeats the purpose of a mobile app. The overall layout just doesn’t go along with the rest of iOS apps out there. Having to maneuver through all the different places your design likes to put all the sections in the app leaves a lot of room for improvement. Elements like that when it comes to consistency through out should not be taken lightly in my opinion.
Worst fast food app out there. So very glitchy. Can’t customize drinks in the app the way you can ordering at the restaurant. Drinks are no longer automatically 1/2 in the app. Can’t get logged into the app with existing account either. When I tried to use the mobile app I was asked to update my phone number. Instead of sending me a text or just sending me to my account info, they keep sending me an email that does not have the logo or any header or info. It looks very sketch. Same thing on their website. Email doesn't look like it's actually from Sonic, tried to log in on the website and same thing. I called customer support, and the rep told me that they were moving to two factor verification. He said it was a legit email, but it looks so spammy. Misspelled words and no logo, weird formatting. After clicking the link and entering mobile number, app says, that's your current number, enter a new one. What?? So I tried to sign up with a different email, when it asks for my phone it says another account already has that number. And around we go.
Worst Food App. This app is outdated in comparison to similar food chains (McDonalds and others). I appreciate how other applications populate your location to provide close stores. Sonic’s app lacks this feature. You have to manually enter the location you’re at into the app or it auto-sends to the prior location used. Beware: you’re only allowed ONE refund for any orders on the app! I’ve had this app for several years and was denied a refund on a hefty order that auto-sent to the wrong address. After spending more than 20 minutes on the phone with customer service, I was advised they would not issue a refund because I’ve had the only refund they’ll offer. The customer service was awful and the protocol is worse. McDonald’s and numerous other food apps allow you to cancel the order or request a refund if you haven’t checked in yet. If Sonic isn’t going to populate your location without being manually entered: the least they can do is offer an immediate cancellation. It’s terrible to have to file a dispute with your bank, all because you’ve had one refund in the multiple years of operating the app. 😂
Buyer beware. A truly heinous app. On multiple occasions, I’ve ordered something, driven to sonic to pick it up, and that sonic location can’t make what I ordered. Sometimes their ice cream is down, sometimes the kitchen is down, sometimes they’re out of something. The location has no way to tell the customer until it’s already been paid for. Good luck getting a refund! You get to call corporate sonic and talk to whichever offshore call center they use. After the main portion of my meal was wrong and inedible, I called and spent half an hour of my time getting my $5 back as a virtual gift card. I cannot use said gift card to buy the same item because it’s actually $5.19. I cannot reload the gift card because the app is failing me. I cannot use both the gift card and pay the remaining $0.19 with another method. I’m basically out $5 after having half a dozen messed up orders, thanks to this app. Only better than Taco Bell, who has just ignored refund requests for food not received with no way to reconcile. Good job sonic, you’re only the second worst.
Terrible Customer Service. I used this app frequently. Several months ago I placed an order on the app. I arrived at the restaurant and checked in. I accidentally checked into stall 1 instead of stall 11. I notified an employee on site immediately. She assured me my order would be right out. 20 minutes later, I still hadn’t received my order. It had been given to another customer. I left empty handed and emailed corporate. After a few back and forths by email, they stopped responding. I was told my information was transferred elsewhere. A couple months went by, they weren’t replying to my emails anymore. I started a new complaint voicing my aggravation. I just wanted my refund. Finally, someone from Sonic emailed me from her personal email and asked for my home address. She sent me cash out of her own pocket to refund my order. While I greatly appreciated what she did, how embarrassing for Sonic as a company. They lost a daily customer.
The worst!. If I could give this app 0 stars I absolutely would!!! I set up my order and paid for it etc.. I had my husband stop to pick up the order on his way home. I picked a time 4:35pm and he was there and pushed the button to let them know since I could not check in on my phone because it said it wasn’t close enough’! So he waited (even though he told them he was there for the order and it should have been ready with no problem) he didn’t get our food until 5:0pm! Even then the food was cold because it had been sitting since the preferred pickup time! This is uncalled for an I feel as if you want to check in you should be able to do so as long as you are on your way with the phone you checked in with or not. I will not use this app again! Maybe you should fix the ‘check in’ issue and I’ll reconsider! Warning to others!!
At first I loved this app..... At first I loved this app. It was so convenient and easy to use. But since that is used in conjunction with the store, the app is only as good as the Sonic location you visit. I usually end up using it at least once a day, sometimes twice, for drinks. Which is why I loved the app...half price drinks all day if you order through the app. Unfortunately, lately my orders have gotten lost. They don’t show up on the board when I check in. Then they will disappear from the app long before I get my order causing me to worry I may never get it. So I end up still having to push the red button. Tell them my order. They have to find it, etc. And inevitably my order is often wrong. When I said something to the carhop about it being wrong she said that the order often don’t come over correctly from the app. I’m super disappointed and will probably go back to my normal drink place because of it.
This app is trash. This app is completely pointless, I wanted to use it to be able to order ahead because my sonic is also trash and takes no lie 30 minutes to make 2 sodas and bring them out to me. (Even with 3 cars in the parking lot, but that’s totally beside the point, it would be nice to be able to give them a 30 minute heads up that I will be there). This app is so incredibly pointless at this point because I can go all the way ordering everything and when I go to place my order it says it cannot process Apple Pay. I put my card info in, says it’s declined. Funny, my credit card limit says otherwise but ok. So then I can’t even utilize the “half price all day!” Promo they give you through ordering through the app because again my sonic is incompetent and will not accommodate for their app having technical issues. It’s absolutely 100% pointless please fix these issues.
Hate the update!!!!. Before the update, however long ago that was, the app worked great. I could immediately get on it and know exactly the balance on my sonic card, and while I was in the drive-thru line I could reload it if I didn't have enough $ on it to cover my order. Since the update it does not maintain my balance. The balance it shows is always the amount after I reload the card, it doesn't deduct my transactions from the balance...the transactions are all listed in the transactions tab, but not deducted from the balance shown on the card page. This is very frustrating because I don't have time to sit there and try to figure up what my balance is based on the listed transactions, so when I go to pay for my order I find out that I do not have enough $ on my card and then have to either use a different form of payment or reload the card and then use it. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! I just want to know my balance please.
I don’t understand the purpose, and neither do the car hops. We mostly go to Sonic for the ability to create drinks, and have unique drinks modifications. I tried pre ordering drinks, but it didn’t have the modification options. Okay, fine. We won’t pre order drinks, we’ll just use the app to pay, since we had preloaded money. WRONG!! Even though the stall has the option to pay with the app after ordering, that isn’t actually an option. When the carhop arrived, they were incredibly unhelpful. There was no way to pay, and no suggestions were given on how to rectify the situation. In the carhop’s words “I don’t know why they have the app. We haven’t even been trained on it. There’s nothing we can do.” Okay, so we can’t order what we want on the app, we can’t pay with the app when we DO order what we want...so can we somehow get the money we preloaded onto the app back? Nope! Even though it’s technically a gift card, my money is stuck on the app. Between the lack of training with the stores, the misleading options and payment methods, and the inability to modify orders or leave order comments, it just turned into a waste of money and multiple frustrating encounters with the company.
Needs a ton of work. First of all, the reward redemption process on this app is terrible. You can’t even redeem the rewards because by the time you try to, by tapping “redeem” it has disappeared. Try telling the employees you have a reward that isn’t visible anymore...most of the employees don’t know how to use the app anyway and make it seem like it’s an inconvenience that you want to pay with the app. Their lack of knowledge on the app / payment system isn’t fair to customers who have loaded money on to the app. I was told that I had to use my card because the girl didn’t *think* their store used the app...I asked her to find out for me, she did, and she was wrong, so someone else helped me out. So I would have essentially paid $40 for $20 worth of food since I loaded money on this app. Also, I have been told that if I had say $3 left of the app and I wanted to pay the difference with my card to zero out and never use the app again I can’t do that. So I cannot ever have a zero balance. I keeps prompting you to add more to cover your purchase and then some. I don’t want money on the app! I want to zero out and be done with sonic!! Blah.
Can’t use the app anymore?. I’ve used the sonic app for years especially after a night out. For some reason one day it just stopped working at checkout. Every time I try to pay it says technical error and the order doesn’t go through. I’ve restarted my phone, deleted the app and redownloaded it, reached out to technical support, even told the store on 3 separate occasions. The app no longer lets me checkout so I can’t place orders. The big problem with this is that I can’t get any deals anymore since you can only get the deals through the app. At this point I just don’t order sonic anymore because why should I have to pay full price for everything due to a bug on the app. I’m done ordering from sonic until they fix the app or make the deals available to everyone in store since clearly the app doesn’t work for everyone. I’m on a iPhone 14 Pro updated to the latest software as of today. I’ve now skipped out on over 5+ orders because the app doesn’t let the order go through. I know I’m only one person but I’m sure there’s more people this happens to, so they are losing customers by a bug that could be easily fixed.
