omg fr？. multi year red note user here, international student in the states, and small influencer here, never thought people would use this in the states. well it does have a very solid recommendation system. plus just a month ago, if i talk about rednote, people are gonna think that i’m talking about some weird political book, now it’s just a social media. just rip the software engineers at rednote, they are not gonna be able to sleep for the next 10 days. i hope they get bonuses. it’s honestly very good for anything. there are legit AI professors from CMU and similar schools sharing their insights and answering questions. very stunning manicure style pictures that i take to my nail artist. and very insightful videos about global economics and stuff. it’s not just Pinterest.

They censor every post of yours.. People are flocking from TikTok to Xiaohongshu. You may not realize that this is an app completely controlled by the Chinese government. Your posts can only praise China; you cannot say a single negative word about it. Otherwise, you will be warned, and your posts will be flagged and hidden. Only you will be able to see them, while others cannot. You cannot promote your business unless you apply and pay. You cannot share your contact information to make friends offline. You cannot place links on your profile; otherwise, your profile will not be approved. Even your profile picture will be reviewed. You cannot make money promoting your own products on the platform, as this requires their approval and payment. Due to the influx of foreigners on Xiaohongshu, they are now hiring English content reviewers to censor every post. You must be careful about what you post because every post is monitored by Chinese English content censors.

revolutionary for the soul ❤️. i'm so blown away by this app and the wonderful community that calls it home! even though a certain other app was brought back to the US, i honestly can't see myself ever abandoning rednote. everyone is so friendly and funny!! this app has opened my eyes and heart to so many amazing places, cultures, customs, tasty food, and people! social media usually leaves me feeling hopeless and depressed, but on rednote i feel so happy and safe. i hope with all my heart it doesn't get banned from my country, or change in any way that would inhibit me from talking to my new friends and seeing the beauty of what lies outside of my country's boarders. this app is what the world should look like, a place where we can all coexist peacefully with kindness and respect. ❤️

Needs comment translation. I need to be able to long press on a comment and be able to translate it to my selected language. also need to be able to type my comments in my selected language and others be able to see it in their own language. I also want to say thank you for hosting Americans as we are getting banned from TikTok and are happy to interact and watch all of your cute cat videos and mukbangs and other interesting topics. we also need to be able to long press the terms and conditions to switch it to our selected language and also if we decide to cancel, we need to be able to see those selection reasons in our selected language. Loving this app. Rednote is absolutely incredible! It brings a new level of creativity to communication by letting me add music clips and soundtracks to my messages. The app is sleek, easy to use, and packed with an extensive library of songs and sounds for every mood and occasion. I’ve never had so much fun personalizing my messages! What really stands out about Rednote is their commitment to transparency. I’m here to stay. I joined as a way to rebel against the banning of TikTok, but I stayed because of how welcoming the Chinese are. The developers wasted no time offering English translations to help English speakers feel welcome as well as opening a way for us to be able to communicate with one another across the world. The newest feature even shows the country the poster is from, which opens up a whole new dialogue amongst users. If you’re wondering what the interface is like I would describe it as a mixture between TikTok and instagram. You can scroll videos for a “fyp” experience or search by interests. There are still some things I’m learning, but if nothing else it has pushed me to learn a new language. Despite what happens with TikTok I plan on keeping the app.

The dev team is as wonderful as the community. Like most of us, I arrived on RedNote after The Ungreat TikTok Ban. I expected to be perpetually a guest and to have to figure out my own way around. Instead, the dev team worked overtime: they created English/Mandarin translation software within days, spotted the "cat tax" trend and created a button where Americans could post our pets with fewer language barriers so we could more easily begin to integrate with the existing community, and basically were welcoming and tireless even in the face of a sudden unexpected influx of foreigners. Many people have spoken about the beauty of the community, and this is true, but as someone with friends in IT I recognize just how large an undertaking this was and would be completely unsurprised to hear the devs had some extremely long work hours that week. Please know I truly appreciate the sacrifices you made to welcome us so warmly to your village!

Ban my account permanently with no explanation. I am writing to formally express my frustration and dissatisfaction regarding the permanent ban of my account without any explanation. I was shocked to discover that my access was revoked without prior notice, warning, or clarification of any alleged violation. This is not the first time I have heard of such unfair treatment from your platform. It seems to be a recurring issue that users face bans without proper justification or a transparent appeals process. This lack of accountability and poor management severely undermines the trust users place in your service. I demand a clear and detailed explanation for the ban, including any specific violations I am accused of committing. Additionally, I request a fair review of my case and the possibility of reinstating my account if no legitimate reason is found for this action. I expect a prompt response and resolution to this matter. Failure to address this issue adequately will leave me with no choice but to escalate my complaint through appropriate consumer protection.

A safe place for Americans and other “refugees”. I downloaded this app when a popular American app, that I’m sure doesn’t need to be named, went dark. I deleted the other app knowing that I would not be going back to it after seeing the disclaimer of hope from the orange “savior.” Rednote has not only kept me sane in these trying times we’re experiencing here, it has also kept me informed, connected to familiar American/english speaking content creators that migrated to the app, as well as many new creators from all around the world. This app is a friendlier, more informative, and all around better place to be in the age of social media. The creators have added many translation features to help the migration go smoothly and to allow the app to be used inclusively from any country, language, or culture.

Beautiful app. I’m an American, though I’m not from TikTok like a lot of others are. I did find out about it from a friend who is from TikTok, however. I decided to download it and as soon as I made my account, I discovered all kinds of wonderful people. Of course, many were a bit cautious, afraid that Americans would turn their amazing app into TikTok, but that’s 100% reasonable. I hope Xiaohongshu isn’t turned into the toxic hellhole that TikTok is. Or should I say, was-? Anyway, I recommend this app if you are looking to connect with both people in your area, as I found people who coincidentally lived 20 min away from me, and also people around the world in China. There is so much interesting content, and the fact that Xiaohongshu is also predominantly women-dominated app makes it even better. 谢谢，小红书！ 我爱

Not a TikTok replacement, but…. This is by no means a TikTok replacement but I LOVE it. There’s a great art and craft community on this app and I thoroughly enjoy it. I think I like it more than TikTok though they are different types of apps. This app is extremely full of welcoming and positive people. You can find people that teach Chinese, find beauty tips and my favorite are those sharing art and craft tips. You can find so much inspiration here and there are those that also share affirmations and positivity. It’s also a great place for cultural exchange and learning about and from people that are from a different culture. It’s great to see that even if we are different ethnicities, nationalities and cultures we have so much in common and so much to share.

Love from USA to China 🫶. I do not care about or use social media personally, but I know a lot of people do. I also believe in free speech and the importance of unity among people of the world. When we consumers/workers unite to put the corporations and governments in their places, we show them we are not a bunch of mindless idiots, but a united and informed population of the world. Our world, our Earth, our home! All as humans, no matter where we are from. I know the US and Chinese governments aren’t perfect; no government is! And it is up to us as the people of Earth to continue to set the example for future generations and to teach them that we have power together. Workers of the world unite! End to tyranny and corporate oppression! End to the evil banking dynasties and oil empires! End to the evil corporations taking advantage of exchange rates and working people like slaves! No person on this planet deserves to be treated like a mere tool, and nobody should ever put profit before people. Money is not important. Health, love, compassion, our fellow living beings on Earth such as other animals and plants, all of these things are important and real. So let’s band together and show the government we mean business! Even if it is something silly like downloading an application to prove a point! Cool app! Trying to figure out how to use the shopping features. Really enjoy using this app! I appreciate how supportive and kind the developers are towards English-speaking users despite them not being the main user market. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Chinese is *extremely* limited so having built-in translation for the UI is so very helpful! Thanks for accommodating us and welcoming users outside China to the app. I realize this is a stretch and only offer it as a suggestion, but it would be really fantastic if the shopping functions of the app were made more user-friendly for English speakers in the future. I couldn’t figure it out since some of the interface didn’t auto translate and got overwhelmed. I’m not sure if things can be shipped to me in the USA among other details. Additionally, and I totally understand this is unlikely and once again only respectfully suggest it, I would love if I could pay with PayPal since I’ve seen some wonderful art I want to purchase but I buy everything online via PayPal and I don’t have any other payment app accounts to pay with. Completely understand that PayPal isn’t as common in China though and that it would be a feature primarily for international users. Just wanted to put it out there as a suggestion but understand if it cannot be implemented! Very nice app with a friendly community 👍 Will continue to use it

A Glimpse of the Real World. I have been overwhelmed with gratitude after spending time on RedNote. Foreign users have been so welcoming and kind. It’s a great experience to interact with people of other cultures when you are like me, a middle class American who lives paycheck to paycheck and could never afford to actually travel to another country. I followed many to RedNote after the TikTok ban appeared eminent and I feel right at home there. The content is interesting and funny and will definitely give me that little TikTok fix as I go through withdrawal symptoms later this month. I will soon be deleting all my meta apps so I hope more content creators can make their way there. I have truly enjoyed TikTok and learned so many things from gardening to crochet to cooking and getting healthier. I’m very disheartened that the US government is doing this to us and I hope they realize what a Pyrrhic victory it will be in the end. I’ll see you there like minded displaced Americans. This is only teaching us how to organize and unite.

Amazing connection and friendliness. I never knew that a social app could be this authentically friendly and interested in creating/maintaining a real user-oriented community. Red Note is a cross between TikTok and Instagram but better. Red Note is more interested in providing optimal experience for the user — as an example, when Red Note found out that thousands of Americans were flocking to their platform, they developed seamless translation functions. I’m learning so much about other cultures and experiences, and learning that we’re all human and all have the same basic needs - it is also prompting a self-discovering of some complicated feelings about the U.S. and a reexamination of our country values. Bottom line is that this app doesn’t have any bullying or intentional misinformation. It’s also not filled with advertisements. Join Red Note and continue learning, laughing, creating and connecting with others like you were on TikTok :)

Here because of the US government. Just two days on the app and I love its functionality! The way it exists is not to be divisive. There’s no polarizing political topics ending in people telling me to unalive myself, there’s no algorithm pushing negative content to try to make people fight among each other, there’s just nice people sharing their cultures with each other and for the most part promoting healthy lifestyles. I’ve already learned some Mandarin and how to make some basic Chinese dishes! People in China on this app have made us feel very welcome and they’re not at all like what our government has pushed on us for so long. I LOVE THIS APP! I’m a way, I’d like to thank the useless boomers in our government who are controlled by an oligarchy, because without their ban of Tik Tok I never would have fell in love with the culture in China. 你好! ☺️

This App is an eye opener for Americans!. The Chinese people are so kind and friendly, so willing to share their culture with us, that the whole TikTok debacle ended up being a blessing! The exchange of ideas, history and culture between Americans and Chinese on Red Note is, I believe, an important and historical event. Some of the "Welcome, TikTok Refugees" posts brought me to tears. My only complaint is that I cannot find a way to translate within the app. I can't read the buttons, so I don't know what to click! I have had to copy and paste everything to Google Translate. I was able to translate the rules and regulations, because there was a "translate" button that popped up when I highlighted sections of the content. But on the "Creator Center", I could not highlight anything to get that translator button up. I am hoping the creators will see the need for easier translation capabilities once they realize thousands of Americans have gone to their app from TikTok. Being able to communicate with the Chinese people is so exciting to me that even if TikTok returns, I will keep my Red Note account for as long as the Chinese let me! I highly recommend! Love Red Note!!!. When i heard that the ban for Tiktok was in full effect, people were saying to download red note. And so i did, BEST DECISION!!! only problem i have is i want to listen to my sounds that i saved without having to quote on quote “make a video” just to listen to my saved audios. if i was a creator of this app, i would add a part in the profile to make users listen to their saved audios so when users want to listen to a audio they saved, they can listen to it clearly without the static noise when presumably making a new recording. I feel like the creators should make it feel like tiktok, like a exact replica of it. it’s near tiktok a literally copy cat, but some of the features doesn’t come close to tiktok. but that’s my only concern or complaint towards this, other than that the app is great!

Really cool community. This app is kinda like if Instagram was refreshing and inspiring and mixed with Pinterest and a bit of TikTok. It’s honestly such a cool place with very friendly people. The content is also really good from fashion to house decor or cooking etc. It’s a way better alternative to insta. [Edit]I love that they listen to users and added translations for comments. Occasionally I’ll see a comment in another language aside from English or mandarin that doesn’t show a translation option but other than that they’ve made it easy for English speakers to be included in conversations that are in mandarin and viceversa and overall it’s very user friendly. It’s nice when apps focus on the people that use these spaces, it makes it feel like a virtual home.

I am American and have used the app TikTok for a while, but this is not the same as TikTok ; this is an Instagram version and is honestly better than the actual Instagram. Please don't separate us from the Chinese people ; they are very nice and kind . We are friends with them , so please do not separate us from them . Exceptional entertainment and information.. Since joining I have been able to destress. When I came from TikTok I was completely overwhelmed and fearful. With all the chaos that Trump is causing I’m sure I’m going to die. A lot of us are. TikTok had become toxic and only showed the MAGA side. I felt dispare thinking there was nothing that could be done. I saw someone on my FY saying to come to rednote. I didn’t know what was going to be over here but when I came all the Chinese Netizens welcomed me and others with open arms and minds. They learned English so they could speak with us, the APP developers even made translation available for us. They showed us their rich beautiful culture, their unique meme’s and invited us in without prejudice. Thanks to the videos and people I stopped feeling anxiety, first they helped me calm down with funny videos. Then they showed me news, showing me that people around the world knew what was going on they wanted to help us. I felt a sense of relief seeing that it wasn’t as hopeless and TikTok MAGA was showing, there are still good people around. I deleted my TikTok and never looked back. I don’t post videos on here yet as I’m still learning but I’m not going to leave. There are so many wonderful people and friends I’ve been making and hope to keep making.

Like Weibo…I have been waiting for an app like this…. I love that Red Note has all the expert and job stuff like Weibo but now it is also Americans. Also lots of hobbyists and enthusiasts from around the world. Most of all, as we in America gear up for people getting angry about Trump NO POLITICS. Instead of an app with an algorithm that is made to keep me on it feeling angry or crazy, I stay on because there is more and more interesting things. Police from different countries showing other police how they do their job was really cool and interesting. Also so many products from around the world I have never seen. It seems like American tech hobbyists have been on here for awhile because the custom computer side of the app is massive. This is what social media and the internet was supposed to be. It’s also great to see the world coming together on here without leaders who think they know better. This is really a great place for the curious and people who want to grow.

Censorship and propaganda. If you think banning tiktok is bad, it would be stupid of you to think that this app is your safe haven or an alternative to tiktok. Sure, the app itself is good to use, and has functionality that most social medias don’t really have. However, if you post anything that doesn’t align with what the Chinese government propagates, your content would be blocked and you would be banned. And if you think your data is safer with the ccp than with meta, you are an idiot. The Chinese government uses facial recognition and algorithms extensively to propagate their perceived value with targeted audiences. Not to mention the amount of racism that’s prevailing on this app by the Chinese netizens. Most of the Chinese netizens have not had the access to global Internet due to their great firewall: They don’t even have access to Google, Facebook or Instagram. This is not an app that by any means value any rights to free speech and its primary purpose is to promote brain rot contents and keep you all uninformed and uneducated.

IN THE CLERB WE’RE ALL FAM.. Friendly! I actually really like this app honestly. As an American that is blasian, this app is incredibly wholesome and welcoming. Honestly, I kind of get irritated seeing other Americans because of how good this app is, afraid that we’ll ruin it. But even then, we’re all trying to make sure we do not “take over” their app because it wasn’t originally our space. The Chinese citizens on this app is more than welcoming, they’re very inviting, friendly, and accepting. Overall adjustment Majority of the app is in Mandarin, (even with english translation) but I don’t mind. It’s fun trying to figure everything out, and learning the words without a translator. Ive downloaded this app a few weeks ago just to prepare for the ban, and I’ve already kind of picked up the language, and am able to understand basic sentences. Learning. Having this app is also and eye opener. The Chinese citizens are very curious of Americans, and didn’t believe a lot of the things that are going on. They believe that we should even come visit china, they think that we’ll like it over there because of everything in America. They’ve been open with their culture and super inviting, i cannot express that enough. Overall, this app is a 10/10 for me. and even if tiktok does not go anywhere i’ll continue to use it.

Amazing!. After what had happened with the TikTok ban, many Americans came to rednote (English name), many Americans came to this app. I love it because it has many similar features to TikTok and even more. Through I agree this is more for Chinese citizens so Americans shouldn’t change this app into a copy of TikTok and respect the Chinese citizens and other people who were here first. I do think it’s great some familiar TikTok creators and videos are here and everything seems to be going god so far. For me, this is also an act of protest. I have had this app a year before the TikTok ban but using this app could also be a protest of how the American government can’t control what we watch and our first amendment of freedom of speech, and use us for money and control. I do hope TikTok comes back soon, but for now this is a great alternative. Although I do recommend if you use this app, try and learn some basic characters or pinyin at least, thank you.

For real I downloaded red note and first couple videos I’ve seen china is beautiful and we don’t see anything about china on TikTok though, but compared to how we live I would rather live in china, us Americans are scared to leave the house government staging accidents and spreading hate and lies, and government cover ups, and saying china our enemy china did this and that trump loves china trump 2025, but it’s our government it’s the elites it’s the money hungry power political communist people, there banning TikTok because they don’t want us all to connect and see the world how it really is we’re all the same we’re just people living on this earth doing the same things form each country, we’re not different at all and all want the same things form each to be free and no war and peace and to connect but government don’t want that and there not making any money off it that’s why there banning TikTok I’m deleting all apps associated with United States Facebook, instagram, etc.

an unexpected warm welcome. I’m sure everyone here knows what’s going on in America with the TikTok ban. I downloaded red note as a way to be able to continue to communicate and connect with the world as I was enjoying with TikTok. amazing!. honestly I really love this app! It shows me the things I want to and the community on there is very nice and respectful. I get to see a lot of gaming, makeup, fashion, and really just stuff that interests me rather than a page full of things I didn’t want like I get with instagram or facebook. And everyone there is really friendly and genuinely wants to interact in a good way, and the community isn’t toxic like a lot of American Meta platforms are, and how I feel TikTok was becoming. I completely switched from TikTok to here because 1) it’s algorithm is a lot like TikTok in showing the stuff you’re genuinely interested in, and 2) it’s not owned by an American company (which are known for mishandling users private data). I fear they sold TikTok to a very evil company and so if you’re looking for a very good alternative and are willing to follow the guidelines and remain respectful on the app, then this is a great option! Side note they also added a lot of features that help Americans out like in app translator and making the platform easier to use for non Mandarin speakers. Super awesome!!

Great app!. Personally I love this app, ever since the government announced they were going to ban Tik Tok I wanted to look for something similar and red note is exactly it. I would like to thank the American government that decided to ban it, not only because you were afraid that the Chinese would get our information, but because now, we will give it to them inspite of your actions, so thank you very much, this app is wonderful, I will definitely tell people to use it more. ❤️ ((Oh and for the created of this app, since more Americans are joining this app, is there any way that you can make a translator for it? Because not all of us know Chinese, mandarin, it would be really helpful because I see things that I would also like to but but I don’t know how much it costs))

Completely different from what I know. For years as an American, I have been riddled with ads on ads on ads, thinking that this was the normal for society, thinking this was the normal worldwide when apparently it is not the normal. I’m not being sold to or assaulted by ads constantly during the day, if I don’t like something, I can just swipe past it and not have to have the algorithm push more and more of it into my face. Their algorithm is different from the platform I came from but in a way it is very much better. Learning that this is more of a shared experience platform rather than entertainment was definitely jarring not knowing what I’d be able to learn. But I will tell you I have learned so much on top of being entertained. There’s so many cultures that have migrated to this app. I can’t even begin to explain what level of cultural exchange that it has brought to the world probably the best thing we’ve ever had in history. I truly hope it stays this way.

Great replacement for tik tok. This app is very similar to tik tok. It has a similar look with all of the same buttons and you can still repost and make collections. The best part is the algorithm that prioritizes your interests over your following and promotes organic content like tik tok and it isn’t insanely reactive like instagram reels. The only thing it needs is auto translate like tik tok has but this app wasn’t originally created for an international audience so I’m sure they’re working on it. A lot of the app is already available in English so it’s not hard to navigate but auto translate would make it easier to interact with Chinese users. Update: just a day after I posted this review they added auto translate so I can now say this is a perfect tik tok replacement and I am so impressed at how quickly this app has adapted.

it like Pinterest and instagram but better. If everyone knew this app existed, Zuckerberg would be crying because this app is like amazing. It has no AI well they have some, but you rarely see it. This app is the best thing. It’s like if Instagram and Pinterest had a baby together but it also like TikTok but with in addition of Twitch. Though some suggestions could please add Vise or Mastercard something through Apple Pay? Because I am will buy some procreate brushes on this site. You guys only have Chinese credit/debit cards it would great if Mastercard was allowed. But seriously with all drama with Instagram, X/Twitter and fact that TikTok is being banned in USA this feels like only site left where I can look at pretty art and not be bothered with the ADs! It also a great place for me as artist it inspired me to get better at art and cooking!

I love little red book.. I am proud to carry the Little Red Book around. Well it hasn’t completely gotten to wear as an American. It’s accessible to someone who doesn’t already speak mandarin. It is a pretty great app. It’s been a wonderful experience. Having such kind and wonderful people welcome the refugees of the American government failure to uphold the American citizens right to freedom of speech and happiness. While I have not quite found my sea legs as they say it on this app, I think it is very well put together. I adore the fact that you can respond in comments with emojis and the emojis have to be the cutest things that I have ever seen, but I also love that you can reply with tiny memes and tiny images and gifts. That is very cool. One thing that would be nice is if you could long hold comments and translate them rather than the entire app being translated. I still don’t care, Little Red Book 小红书 gets a 10 stars from me.

Coming from TikTok. Since TikTok got banned a few other including myself have come to this app since it was related to TikTok and some others didn’t since people were getting hacked but I think this app could of or could be the next TikTok unless TikTok comes back and the app reminds of TikTok cause of the features but some people judged the app (this app) because it was made from china but I liked the app and this is could become really famous due to the TikTok community having to find a new TikTok and some people thought TikTok wasn’t good because the inappropriate stuff but there’s so many other apps that are so inappropriate like onlyfans for a example it is literally for grown men or grown woman’s appeal of watching it instead of focusing on TikTok they should focus on that and the only problem I had with TikTok is the inappropriate users that didn’t get banned for there content only because they were verified which annoyed me but I really did like this app.

Such an amazingly friendly place. I had no idea that this friendly slice of heaven existed until recently and I am just one of many TikTok refugees there! Our new friends and our Chinese spies, have been absolutely amazing! Beyond anything we could have hoped for. I realize that we’re a little crazy but most of us are kind and harmless, unless you’re the US government… then we’re petty. We get the first hand chance to explore and learn about our Chinese friends. From culture to Mandarin to food and awesome memes! Be careful what you're posting. It'll hide your comments from others but you'd still be able to see it on your end. It won't notify you so you won't know it's hidden but you'd be wondering why no one is replying. One way to check if your comment is hidden is to press hold your comment until different options pop up. If you see "share" then it's on public. If it only shows "reply""copy"and"delete", congratulations, you are the only one seeing it. And Idk what exactly is not allowed to be posted. I was in the middle of a conversation about parenthood with someone and all of the sudden that person stopped responding. And she DMed me saying she didn't see my reply. That was weird cuz I swear to God I wasn't even being aggressive we were just having normal discussion. Then I screenshotted my comment and told her Idk it might be the system and she didn't receive that message neither. BUT IT WAS SENT ON MY END. I LOVE THE BEAUTIFUL CHINESE MEN ON REDNOTE!. all these beautiful men are feeding my queerness and desire to see more and more beautiful men. the men are a perfect mix of cute and hot, and i just cant seem to get enough of this! some men have beautiful feminine features like in their face and body, while others have very masculine demeanors. this fuels my love for both types of men! also the gym men look super strong and could dominate me if needed. there is also the hair of most chinese men, which is pretty straight and i love that! i just want to massage a cute chinese boys head, give him kisses and play with his beautiful hair. also most men wearing glasses look super cute, feeding into my love of cute nerdy boys. overall 5/5 app. i downloaded for the men and was NOT disappointed in the slightest. Hidden little gem. Just like many Lemon8 and TikTok users banned by moronic senators, I was faced with the decision of joining untrustworthy platforms Iike Facebook, Instagram and X (all horrible for content creators and regular users who only wanted to be fairly compensated and enjoy a truly, unfiltered social experience.) This app was the answer. RedNote has not only been able to discourage hateful speech (Nick Fuentes, we celebrate you being banned), but also the principals of this app have been more engaged in protecting user data and providing a social experience than any other platform (you did us wrong Meta, X, Apple, and so on). Thank you for sticking around and giving us a chance, RedNote! Meeting Chinese users and seeing their content has been a TRUE and ENGAGING social experience.

Good soup. So I woke up in pain bleeding on 1/21 I go to the toilet and as normal click on tiktok except it was banned by an angry orange. I immediately downloaded this app and started scrolling after accepting all terms and conditions plus giving it any permissions it asks for. After having this since then I haven’t even thought about going back, it’s so much better then tiktok no ads every 2-3 videos, no lives being shoved in my face every 4th video, no sponsored videos every 3rd scroll, great translation features. It’s so nice to be able to relax and enjoy what I’m watching instead of constantly being on the look out for ads, promotions, hidden ads, that annoying tiktok pop up in the top left randomly. It’s just a breath of fresh air like going somewhere that has no intrusive advertising anywhere. Edit: the only thing I’d like added would be for them to move the translate button farther away from the reply button. My fat American fingers keep hitting reply instead of translate and it’ll take me a shamefully long time to get it to translate what the comment is saying instead of popping up with the reply box and keyboard. Otherwise this app is good and I keep forgetting there aren’t ads, I’ll be like “I’ll go to bed and close the app when I see an ad” which on tiktok would take 3-4 swipes/videos but on here I just keep scrolling 😂 truly a first world problem

Surprising. That moment when you thought the US was the land of the free, best country in the world, and then you find yourself willingly giving your data to some app that may be way more invasive than the app you came from because it was soon to be fraudulently banned for “national security” by our “representatives”, and the American alternatives are ad filled trash with manipulated algorithms with little monetization for small creators, poor security (always being hacked and spammed), lack of features and bad UI. What a weird time to be alive, to realize American exceptionalism was fading before our eyes and they had to try to ban something from the “free market” under false pretenses to try and win and line their pockets in the process.

We must bond together like trees. This application has opened my eyes to much and more. I was born in the United Snakes, and quickly grew fond of burgers and pizza, and grew a distaste for work, honor, my neighbors and dignity itself. My deepest desire was to chew pizza crusts and lecture others about human rights that I, myself, had never respected. Once I downloaded the one and true rednote application, however, my word opened up to something new and exciting. An inherent truth was found within it, and I met many noble, wise and thoughtful Chinese citizens. Over time, I have gained a deep shame for myself and a deep love for the people of the east. Their warmth covers me in euphoria. I hope one day that my people will satiate their thirst for the blood and tears of warfare and join our brothers in China on the path to prosperity. software keeps lagging. every time i press something or use something, the app tells me to “update the app or restart” in chinese. English is my first language and I can read chinese. But it keeps popping up every time i scroll or touch something on the screen. HELP!!

Very toxic community. If you comment on a post where you are not the owner, and then if other people reply trash in your comment thread and blacklist you, you can’t do anything, you don’t get a chance to defend or delete the trash replies.

This kind of discriminatory behavior is very rare in software, but it is completely disgusting to have this ‘first experience’, and I recommend that you use this app with caution! (Especially Muslims, beware of it reminding you that you have break the rules.) great but….. I love this app it’s amazing but I would suggest adding subtitles or full english/other language translations because I absolutely LOVE the app and how great the content is by creators but I cannot understand anything simply because I do not speak or read anything other than english. You are face masked.. Supposed to be a good place for people to share and enjoy. However they just put too much restrictions on communication. A lot of words are forbidden, you could be blacklisted, no warnings given, despite you are not aware of some sensitive words.

This app is a joke. My likes has been dropping down for no reason! Once I reported the issue it says there is no issue with my article. Then what’s the point of deleting those likes for a single article???? And now I’m not allowed to report the same repeating issue to this stupid platform...

Rubbish app. The developing team must be blind. They banned many posts about pets that aren't allowed to have in China but totally allowed in other countries. Reporting guidelines. The app itself is fine and gives me access to a lot of content, but their reporting process is interesting. I reported someone who took pictures of strangers at an event that clearly did not receive their permission to take OR post. I reported the post, citing the above reasons, and I was told my report did not fit the reporting guidelines.

Network Error Forever. The latest version has been kept promoting network errors although I do have stable network connectivity via other apps

You’d suddenly get a notification telling you that you have breached the rules, but you won’t get told which comment breached the rules, as it’s already been censored by the mods, and there’s no internal review process. Sometimes other users maliciously report you and you get punished arbitrarily.

So bad publishing experience. I heard this app is popular among young generation. But when I try to make content it always has limitations or make my content disappear…can’t find my own post, it’s ridiculous even it has so many “ads” or “influencer sales” not recommended at all

account been blocked for no reason. I pretty much just browsed through the posts but suddenly got blocked. When I tried to appeal and ticked the option of ‘blocked account’, I was not allowed to upload screenshots for evidence and the reason for the appeal would later be changed to something else, such as ‘loosing followers’ or ‘name/profile breached rules’ which I didn’t select for. What’s going on with the app?

Honestly worst app ever. It’s like you’re living in china 😂 they restrict you when you say things that you don’t like, and you’re not even allowed to type in English properly, they delete your messages sometimes without notifying and watches and reads all your messages. They also restrict your account if you try to communicate outside of the app

Queries were submitted about why it happened, but the feedback received was very rude. The platform controls what they want you to see. There’s no free speech on this platform.

Internet connection error. The app is unusable. Constantly prompting “internet connection error “ while there’s no connection problem with my phone (or other apps are working fine).

Too More Advertising. This app has too many soft advertising, and many armies of influencers trolls attacked and bully others. Red book as one social media platform encourages this kind of behavior and constantly and maliciously push relevant information to users, also there is an issue of leaking user privacy.

Not user friendly. This apps is not designed for western people. Those who not understand or read mandarin, don’t waste your time downloading this app. They don’t even have a button to translate the description on the post. 🙃

你永远不知道你的帐号因为什么原因被封禁. 什么文字都没写，只发了一个迪士尼的卡通角色在评论区，就被莫名其妙说严重违规然后全面封号。这种中国特色社会主义的有毒软件，正常人要远离。无法治，纯人治。畸形社会下的产物。

管理人员是脑残+独裁. 莫名其妙的收到“笔记违规”通知，然后申诉后秒回“申诉失败”，已经删除账号卸载了。

管理不善. 用户素质越来越低，营销号越来越多，评论发言各种谩骂攻击，投诉到小红薯管家却只会删评论，没有后续惩罚机制。整个环境越来越恶臭

随便禁言，封号绝对是垃圾软件. 不知道说了什么，也不知道被谁举报了 反正直接被封号了。以前收藏的各类信息都看不到了，还有我买东西有好多薯币，花了几十刀买的，随着封号都不能用了也不能提取，更不退钱。一封号就全没了 客服也联系不上，简直就是诈骗软件。

莫名其妙被禁言. 小紅書的規則還真的，寫數字，寫聯繫方式，電話號碼，地址也是違規的，寫自己的名字也違規。莫名其妙就被罰禁言。 說如果有做交易可以去小紅書開店，我懂，就是要付費使用小紅書的平台交易收費嘛。 結果了解完。原來小紅書開店鋪只開放給持有中國護照的市民用， 還全部都是標人民幣的。 那麼持有外國護照的人是無法聲請， 而且全部證件都是國內的。可以說這個平台還是不夠完善。如果開放國外市場，那不是先軟件設計更完善，要不就讓國外也能download開帳號。 😮‍💨。無語

Thought it would take some serious ad adjustment being an American user but the quality of content is superior, user-friendly, and overall incredibly informative. Have learned more here in one day than all of my time using other mindless social media apps, like Meta ones. (Meta has made some questionable changes that personally do not appeal to me or my values so I do not recommend to anyone) ANYWAYS, this is the best app and has brought such a sense of community, humanity and global connection that was lacking. This app is truly a blessing in disguise.

This app saved my life, this is my new home, I’ve been through really tough times, and as a little kid I had to migrate from TikTok to red note, because the US gov took over my home land (TikTok). I remember traveling through the seas trying to find somewhere safe, I first landed on lemon8, but I didn’t like it there, So I continue traveling the seas. Now finally!!! After what seem an eternity, I manage to hit land on red note, my new home land!!! These people were so welcoming, they were teaching me their language. I have such great friends now. They made me realize that slavery still exist in America, I will never go back. I am now full Chinese, and will never call myself American again. Ni hao (It’s means goodbye)

Nothing like TikTok. This is a good app, but everybody needs to understand. This is not our app and us taking over. It is really not right. We are already breaking so many rules on their app. People are already getting banned and everything else plus now the government over there is getting involved in the app, which is not a good thing for the app. We can start a lot of problems so everybody needs to follow the rule only problem is that we cannot understand what the rules are in the first place 95% of this app is in not English so everybody that downloads this app please be respectful and everything else. CCP. I downloaded the app just to see the results of Chinese citizens and liberal Americans merging. It was a strange thing to see. The liberals treat rednote like a safe haven they fled to lol, and the Chinese users welcome them but belittle them at the same time. Before I canceled my account and uninstalled I watched a video of a Chinese guy demanding the new American users police the “TikTok refugees,” then he instructed them on how to report accounts to get them banned and demonetized. The video was called “are TikTok refugees colonizing rednote?” Lol. The Chinese users expect special treatment and complete submission from the liberals, who willingly give it to them, for now. The liberals don’t talk about politics on rednote, yet. Their quiet about their LGBTQ+ stances, and even about Trump. Their on their best behavior for now. You can’t post anything pro America, and the algorithm is manipulated to be pro China and anti America. Shocker. It’s not all bad though. Some of the Chinese users are kind. They won’t talk about politics though, and some will lecture you about your freedoms. I believe it’s very difficult for Americans and Chinese to form real relationships because political ideology is at the core of American identity, and Chinese aren’t allowed to believe anything but the CCP. It was a very interesting thing to observe. I believe all the liberals on the app would sell state secrets to China and should be on a watchlist (hint hint FBI)

This is genuinely a good app.. If you’ve been online recently obviously you know about the tiktok ban, so many of us are coming over to this app (temporarily). And to be honest i really love it. I like the fact you can post pictures and gifs in the comment section, buy things, go live and post pictures. It’s as if TikTok and Pinterest had a baby, which is what many people describe the app to be. The Chinese people on there are VERY nice and im already learning a new language and their culture and slang. It’s a welcoming app would recommend for people interested in Chinese language and culture (Also the videos food there are amazing)

I love this app!. I am someone who had moved from the app named TikTok and people on here have been extremely welcoming but i do have a few suggestions please add a repost button and do not make the comments button notification or messages one private unless there is a setting that lets anyone message you instead of having them to send you a request and please add more actions for the pet such as the pet jumping and add an option to feed the pet and add a voice maybe for the pets, also PLEASE add Chinese to English translation because I unfortunately have a hard time understanding what someone is saying to me

Amazing app!. Unlike other social media, this app doesn’t make you addicted! I don’t know what magic they’re using but my time here passes slowly, AND it is worth it. Somehow it doesn’t make you want to scroll for hours and that is so amazing!! The only problem is when you start a video you need to finish it to get back to the start, normally you can scroll down and back up and the video restarts. Also we don’t have the full experience in English :( I hope there is an update we can have the full app in English and comment translations 🙏❤️ Thank you do much for this app!!

I LOVE IT. I love this app so much, I think I’m going to stay on it even if TikTok returns. I’ve made a lot of friends, and I’ve learned about their popular music (which I love by the way), their school systems, their views on modern things, and so much more. I’ve learned a lot of Chinese phrases and slangs, more than I’ve ever learned when I actually tried to (Duolingo). And even though we Americans only just started transitioning over, the programmers have already generously accommodated for our needs by including a translate button for comments. Honestly, I came to this app because so many people were as a result of the TikTok ban, but I stayed for the community, the rich culture, and the amazing life/food hacks. I really love it!!

better than tiktok??. honestly it’s amazing! moved here from tiktok (since our government hates anything that brings people together) and was surprised to see how easy it is to actually use that app. When i got in it immediately changed the language to english so it’s easy to scroll. But it’s also like pinterest and instagram all in one? i haven’t been over on red book for over 12 hours and yet everything i watched on tiktok is what i’m watching on red book, so the algorithm is amazing! Everyone who’s native to the app has been kind and helpful! definitely am going to tell others to get this app!

Amazing for All Users. I’m not a user of this app but I took a quick look before the ban of TikTok. Immediately I was astonished by the amount of creativity, positivity and talent that was demonstrated on this app. In the wake of the TikTok app ban, this app made me realize it’s not the people who are enemies, it’s the governments. My favorite thing about it was how funny Chinese creators were in expressing their own opinions about Americans and the ban, truly opening the eyes of Americans not only to other countries but to themselves and the political landscape. Overall it’s a 10/10 social app not just for Americans but for all users, I’m excited to see what it becomes, even if it gets banned in the U.S.A as well 👍.

Amazing community. My husband and I both downloaded this app last week like many Americans as a petty act to the government due to the TikTok “ban”, but we quickly realized how amazing the app was! Gets to see things we didn’t before and understand the true Chinese culture. The community on the platform was amazing before us tiktok refugees got there, but now the community has expanded to welcome us and now is an even better community filled with love, support, unity and honesty. Even tho tiktok is back now, I don’t care for it and plan to stay here! I feel at peace while on this app and engaging with others on here!❤️

Top tier entertainment and top notch community. The app was automatically set to English for me, so it was all very convenient and it was quick for me to get started. Immediately, I was getting served entertaining videos that aligned with my interests. Great format! It’s very intuitive. I LOVE the community of people on the app. Right away I saw so many kind welcoming people that greeted all of us TikTok refugees with open arms and open minds. Very classy! Also — I love that there’s an in-app stop with lots of great items to purchase. I already see some of my favorite creators on here and I’m using the app daily. I’m even unintentionally learning a lot of mandarin!

Peaceful alternative to US social media/content. I’m very impressed by Red Book. Put simply, it’s like all the good parts of Pinterest/IG/Tumblr combined. Instead of being bombarded with culture war politics, propaganda and negativity on X/Facebook/IG, the Red Book online community provides new insight into Chinese culture and aesthetics — and dare-I-say, a serene social media experience. Easy to use despite the language barrier and very high-quality production content. I’m also comfortable letting my child scroll with me. For those with privacy concerns, don’t forget the US platforms have been stealing and selling your information for years - leveraging the algorithm against you to indoctrinate and sow division with no consequences.

Censorship and Threats Against Free Speech. This app is available in the US App Store, but it completely disregards the values of free speech. My account was restricted simply for posting a harmless comment that several people liked and agreed with. No one disliked it except Xiaohongshu itself. The comment didn’t contain offensive language or misinformation—it just expressed an opinion that the platform apparently didn’t agree with. To make matters worse, I was threatened with a permanent account ban for any “next violation.” This kind of censorship is unacceptable, especially for an app operating in the United States, where freedom of speech should be respected. Users deserve a platform where they can express their thoughts without fear of oppressive censorship. If Xiaohongshu wants to operate in the US, it should start respecting American values and stop censoring opinions. Until then, I cannot recommend this app to anyone.

This is better than any social media app I’ve ever tried. I’m studying UX in college and I have to say that this app really impressed me. This feels like a company that actually gives priority to its UX/UI designers. The architecture, layout, content and visual design is GREAT. There is no bombardment of hidden ads. You, as a user, have a great flexibility when it comes to what you’d like to post and where. The filters for videos are high quality, as are the text options which are very diverse unlike Instagram or TikTok. Despite being a Chinese app, elements are designed in such a way that you can easily navigate the app even without understanding the actual words. What is more, this app is like a perfect blend between Pinterest, tiktok, and reddit, with additional features added on. My only recommendation is to have a more easily navigable way to save sounds for your own use later on. Most users would like to use them later rather than immediately so it would be nicer if clicking on a sound wouldn’t immediately take you to the recording page. Otherwise.. Props to the UX/UI designers of this company!

such a wonderful app. this app was so quick to accommodate american users such as myself, I was inactive for only a week or two and I came back to many changes that make the app easier to navigate in english, such a welcoming app. even though I originally came because of the tiktok ban which has been lifted, I still use this app its cozy and its such a respectful space. I really like how it’s not accepted to be disrespectful on this app by not only the app itself but its users aswell! I appreciate the enforcement of guidelines Ive yet to see distasteful content how I do on other apps, much gratitude to the people running this app and to the users who have cultivated such a respectful community!

This app is so much more than I anticipated.. I’ll admit that I originally came over to this app impulsively, because everyone was saying that it’s the Chinese version of TikTok, but it’s turned out to be so much different than expected. For Americans coming over for the same or similar reasons, please remember that hundreds of thousands of us came to this app practically overnight, and we are in someone else’s house now. Be respectful, be kind, do your research on guidelines and engage with people in the way the app is designed to do so. Kind, respectful & welcoming. As an American (USA), it is strange but refreshing to see content that is not constantly interrupted by divisive content such as Man vs Woman, black/brown vs White, religion vs religion etc….. Also the sales content forced on you & the misinformation in all forms is horrible. It is nice to not be bombarded with religious ideology and the shame that is pressed on you by it. Good people being good to each other, their pets and their society it seems over here. I just feel better after this type of experience compared to the content on the big USA social media and news sites which seems to have embraced hate, fear and panic driven viewership. Thank you :)

So happy I found Rednote!. Out of pure spite for our useless, inept government and leaders, I decided to download this app, with no expectations. I am pleasantly surprised! The people of China are so kind and welcoming to us Americans and it truly opens your eyes and makes you realize— the PEOPLE are not at odds with eachother. We love eachother. We see no differences between one another. It is our horrible, cowardly leaders that continue to fuel the fire. I will HAPPILY, give you all of the data you could possibly need. 🫶🏻 If they are going to ban TikTok based on hypothetical arguments alone, we might as well actually give them something to be mad about.

Go See the Real China. A message to American TikTok refugees: this is a 100% Chinese language based social media platform, where it does not even have a feature for automated translation. Nevertheless, because it was never intended to be a global app, that’s where you can get an anthemic look and feel of the lives of Chinese nitizens. Go see yourself, make up your own mind, make a ton of new friends, swap life stories- that’s what social media is and should be all about. Be cordial, respectful, friendly and kind, remember we are guests and we just showed up without an invitation. Be ambassadors of good will!

I love this app!. This app is truly amazing! You can connect with so many people from many different nations, the community here is actually super fun. I'd recommend giving it a try, making an account can be a bit tricky at first but you'll get the hang of it. And although basically everything is in Chinese it's easy to navigate plus learning a foreign language doesn't hurt! It's a very welcoming and positive place and from what I've seen everyone is getting along just fine. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a nice place to connect with people and just have a good time.

Keep mistakenly marking my posts as spam. This app was good for some time before I posted on it. It keeps marking my posts as spams and threats me to delete my account if I keep posting. All my posts were about the benefits of using ClearPlus to save time going through an airport and the benefits of my Amex credit card that I liked. And the system just mark my posts as violation of their rules (the reason they gave was because my posts are high risks of investing?) Are you crazy? Even if I explained that there is no financial investments or anything related in my posts they just keep doing it. There are already literally thousands of posts about the benefits of using ClearPlus or Amex credit cards already in the app, but none of those are marked as violation?? I am suspecting it is because I am using a US phone number when I registered my account and they are like super sensitive about it. So disgusting app.

bad personalize system. rednote strength lies in its authentic user feedback - a rare commodity in today's internet landscape - allowing you to find a wealth of valuable information. However, their recommendation system, designed to maximize user addiction, ruins everything. The algorithm is a complete disaster, especially when you turn off the system recommendations and personalization features. To make matters worse, there's no way to block other users - once you disable those settings, you're completely stuck with no control over unwanted interactions. After turning off recommendations, many basic functions become unusable, and the app subtly - sometimes forcefully - manipulates you into re-enabling the recommendation system through seemingly unrelated options. An app with such a predatory approach to user manipulation deserves no more than 1 star."

Tiktok refugee. So i came here bc TikTok got banned in the U.S so now i have to use rednote. I mean, I honestly don’t mind because it’s a pretty good app but still I honestly love TikTok so much more. TikTok like literally just got unbanned and now if you delete it then you cannot redownload it . Better Than TikTok. The crazy part is yes, moving from Tiktok to a Chinese based app to be petty towards the government for the ban is hilarious, but this app is actually better. The video quality is insane. The existing users are so kind and gracious towards the Americans who have invaded their space. The functionality is way more intuitive (despite not knowing any Mandarin). There is none of the toxicity of other social media. There is no tiktok shop which nor have I even seen an advertisement that I can think of. It’s better than Tiktok. Zuckerberg and Musk can keep their social media. Xiaohongshu is better than all of them combined.

Love the app!. i actually got the app before the tiktok ban rumor/confirmation happened, just because I loved the vibes and the aesthetics from a few clips i saw (ironically on tiktok because someone was talking about how cute this app is) While on one hand i love that i can escape from the social media aspect of forming my own opinions without any comments influencing it (i form my own opinions anyways) but on the other hand i like hearing other people’s thoughts. So i know it’s not my place to say this because this app isn’t meant for me, i just wish there was a translation option for comments, that’s all🥰

Please please please!!!. I love this app so so so much but I only speak english. A lot of people in the us are moving to this app and its hard for Chinese users that don’t speak English to navigate when a lot of the posts are in english and its hard for the people that speak only speak English because of the post mostly being in Chinese. So I was hoping there could be a translation feature added for things like comments and descriptions!! It would bring a lot of new people coming from tiktok and would make the app so so much more popular!! And it would help out soooo many people. I hope you take this into consideration!!!!

My Favorite Social Media App. I was so unexpectedly surprised how much I enjoy RedNote. I haven’t seen any other social media like this - I see it like a combination of Pinterest, Instagram, and TikTok - but better! As a Chinese American, it makes me so happy to see people from the west see just how beautiful China and its people are. I love the cultural exchange and this app has really helped so many people change their perspective of China. Another thing I love about this ad - no ads!! This is huge, especially when ever other social media is plagued with ads. It is so refreshing! I also love that I can preview the video before I click on it, I feel a lot more in control with the content I watch.

Hate the Live Photos mode so much. I’ve been using the app for almost 3 years or even longer, and I like using it until last year the live mode was introduced. I don’t see the point of using Live Photos and displaying the meaningless live contents that only makes you dizzy and nauseated. 99% of Live Photos post I’ve seen is completely useless, displaying seconds of how the camera was moved or zoomed that’s absolutely having nothing to do with the post contents. And I was forced to watch these freaking seconds-long videos every time I scrolled the Live Photos. SO DISGUSTING. And I hate the haptic feedback it provides too. I cannot tell whether a post contains live or not, so every time when I see a post with live I never hesitated to click ‘dislike the content’. I complained and suggested making an improvement several times using the in-app help center, but looks like no once cares.

this is how social media was meant to be!. ive never had such a great experience on a social media app before! the app doesnt run on farming engagement with rage bait and arguments. this app is filled with genuine people making genuine content!!! everyone is so kind to us americans despite the terrible few that slipped through the cracks. and, what makes it even better? HARDLY ANY ADS!! i felt like i couldnt breathe without 3 ads getting shoved in my face on american socials. but this app has hardly any ads! and the ones i have seen are subtle to the point i dont even realize im watching an ad most of the time. this is how social media was meant to be!

American User - Great App. I downloaded Xiaohongshu two days ago during the mass exodus from TikTok, and I’m loving it. I’ll definitely be deleting all Meta products from my phone soon and only using Xiaohongshu for social media from now on. Everyone has been welcoming, the content is intriguing, and the app is user-friendly. I’m hoping they add a translate button soon, but for now I just use a translation app to interact with Chinese users. There is plenty of English-language content as well. There’s no need to worry about censorship of Americans either. Anyone complaining about that probably didn’t read the ‘Terms of Service’ or they feel entitled to say whatever they want without consequences.

Better than the alternatives. Since our government soffit to take away or freedom of speech, I would rather just directly hand China leaders all of my personal information then to vote for any of the mofos who are in our congress support stripping us of a popular app. Their inability to hear critical feedback shows that they are just as weak and childish as a dictators all over the world. I won’t say they’re stripping us of our first amendment right, because I’m not going to jail, but they all better figure out what’s next for them because it’s not going to be retaining their seats. I’ve heard McDonald’s is hiring at $10 an hour… Good luck, Congress, surviving on that.

Eye Opening. Downloading this app and being able to see into a culture much different from the USA has been extremely eye opening. Everyone is so welcoming, and ready to teach you about their culture, and ask us about ours. I am very grateful that I decided to download this app and I will not be going back to TikTok if it is sold to an American company who already has billions of dollars they don’t use for any good. As a small town girl from Tennessee, my view on the world was very limited until I downloaded Tiktok, and now my perspective has been broadened even more. Great app, refreshing, loving the culture. Disappointed in my country.

Best option for China but still a horrible app. Pros: None. It’s at best a normal social media app. Cons: (1) The app will edit your own bio without your permission and then prohibit you from editing it; (2) The English version has lots of spelling errors in the UI; (3) Bad UI • Stops your music when you start preparing a post even of just pictures, not video; (4) Every time you comment or send a message the app gives you a prompt to turn on notifications even if you don’t want to, and you can’t disable it; (5) Recommended content is generic and influencers’ content is heavily edited/artificial; (6) LOTS of pirated/fake/stolen content, and lots of fake accounts; (7) You can’t say anything even slightly controversial. I tried to report a Chinese person pretending to be an American soldier at the embassy in Beijing and I couldn’t because my report and post warning others about the fake account were “sensitive” and related to foreign news.

I LOVE THIS APP!!!. Such a beautiful app and community! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I’ve had an extremely positive experience using it. From the users to the speedy upload time, sharing posts, and getting views is super easy. The algorithm learns from my likes instantly. Everyone also either adds captions to their videos or translates in the comments. I’m sure there will be more app translations to come, give the developers time. We’re new here. It’s only been a few days. They already changed a lot of the settings to English which I’m so grateful for! I’ve been learning mandarin in the meantime which has been so much fun! I LOVE THIS APP!!!

Life changing. During one of the darkest time in my life I opened xiaohongshu thinking it was just every other day. I was wrong that was the moment my life would change forever. This is more than an app it’s a digital are gallery, it’s meaningful, it’s literally life changing. I went from a nobody to 15 K followers in 9 days for just being me, when everyone doubted me I did it because of this app. I’m blessed to be invited into the creator program and I’ve been blessed to just be here in this moment in history. Thank you Rednote team I will forever be grateful for what you have done. I don’t know if you will see this review but I truly hope you do.

Quite happy with rednote. I found out about rednote about three days ago and I’m not going back if at all possible. So far the US government has tried to take away from us, and have said they’re going to take rednote away from us as well. It’s not because of a security issue, it’s because they don’t want us talking with people from China. They don’t want us to know there’s not really a bogeyman in China. They don’t want us to know that China is years ahead of us with infrastructure, and the price of groceries and housing compared to here. They want to keep control over us to not know what’s on the outside.

XHS. Ok first off I saw a review saying that xhs is Japanese which made me so mad. It’s clearly Chinese. Also, y’all saying that xhs is discriminating because it doesn’t have English comments, think for a second. This is literally a popular Chinese app like what 💀. Anyways, I mainly use this for inspiration and scrolling. It’s great so I don’t see a problem. To these people attacking xhs for not having a correct English translation, I don’t see a problem. It’s not going to kill you if an app in a different language doesn’t have the corrrect grammar or something. ISTG if this app was Japanese or Korean everyone would love it. (Not saying many people don’t)

Love this app but….. This would have been 5 stars…. Honestly I love this app because im Chinese American and using this app makes me feel like I belong. I have been using this app for years. I love learning stuff on here and it is one of the reasons that I can keep up with my Chinese culture. However recently the Americans have infiltrated the app and seeing it as a TikTok alternative. This app is very different from TikTok and I don’t appreciate those who come on here to fill it with your American trends and weird thirst traps like on TikTok. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is a Chinese app and majority of users are Chinese. It is important that you are respecting us because throughout the years I’ve seen so much Sinophobia. If you want to post, use translation and be respectful. Personally, I would not want this to be another TikTok alternative and be filled with weird American trends. I really enjoyed the content I had before the Americans infiltrated. For those new to this app pls do your research before posting anything that may be offensive.

Everyone is so kind & welcoming. I love it here. Everyone has been so genuine, friendly, & are more than happy to have us there. Even the creator said he’s happy we’re here & is currently working on live translation options. Majority users speak English to some degree, but I’m excited for the added option to translate everything. We have a lot more in common than I thought, no longer will they divide us. They think they can control us connecting with one another by banning apps, let’s prove them wrong.
