Great improvement. The updated Spectrum app is great. Good variety, relevant, easy to read. Current weather at the top of the screen & time allocation to each story are super helpful. I don’t usually leave reviews but thought this update was worth it.

This app is terrible.. I was forced to move to this app from my local station app and absolutely hate it. The weather section is terrible; the radar map is so glitchy it’s unusable. I was only using a spectrum news app to have easy and quick access to my local station weather reports with notifications (which are also buggy) so I have zero use for this app and will be deleting it.

Unbelievable. I can’t believe that this is considered a “good enough” replacement to the spectrum news 13 app. “The new app has all of the same features as the old one” no it does not spectrum, I can no longer see the amazing radar that use to update every minute and was VERY accurate and VERY useful and VERY helpful! My job requires me going in and out of buildings often & traveling to different locations constantly and I would use the news 13 radar to see where the storms are to know what to expect when to expect it and what route to alter. NOT ANYMORE! The new radar is AWFUL and does not show you every minute, it is impossible to get it to show you anything useful.. this app IS in fact nice but only nice for news.. NOT local news/weather. I am giving this 1 star for the lack of radar support & for the FORCED change over without having a suitable replacement.

Not nearly as good as the previous app.. We do construction and the previous app allowed us to put in several addresses so we could watch our open jobs as storms came through. It plotted each one on the map. I would give this a 5 star review if we could do that.

Weather radar. I’m sorry but the new weather radar is horrible. Why did you even have to change it? The rest of the app of fine. But what I use it for most is for the weather radar and I will have to find some other app to use now which is sad.

Great Local News. If you’re looking for up-to-date and relevant local news then this is it for you. Because honestly, it matters more where construction is going on than what the president is doing.

I’m a former news anchor.... I can’t tell you my delight that I found Spectrum 1. Well honestly it wasn’t that hard because every time I turn on the television that’s the first thing that comes on. I turn the television on to watch a program but I end up staying for Spectrum news. I’m impressed with everything about it.. it feels as comfortable as your favorite jeans and just as reliable… Especially in this day and age of conjecture an opinion, Spectrum 1 delivers the news clearly and without bias, just the way I like it… The entertainment packages are excellent.I also love the different reporters ,anchors and personalities… I’m here to stay . Thank you Spectrum news.

Doesn’t show the whole app. I was so interested in this app, but now disappointed in it. The font is too big, you can’t make it smaller and the sections all overlap so you couldn’t read it. Also is the an app that you have to pay for after a trial period?

Push Notification Bug. Whenever I receive a Push Notification from the Spectrum News App about a breaking/developing story, I click on the notification to read the story, and 100% of the time I am directed to a page telling me to sign in for access to Spectrum News. Even though I am already signed in. I hit the back button within the app, and then I’m on the front page News. I can see the articles, because I’m already signed in. I then have to use the search function within the app to look for the article, and just hope I remember enough key words to find the article, which is not always accomplishable. I’m hoping that, one day, I will be able to click on a Spectrum News Push Notification and then immediately be taken to the associated article.

Great app - easy to navigate!!. Being a new user to this app, I was highly impressed with the effective and easy-to-use interface. Highly recommend to keep up with News happening in major cities!

Mitch Smith. Your entire news programming is miraculous in this day of contention and anger. You present the news and commentary on important things without the usual media biases which are characteristic of most of the other news media. Your programming is broad and varied, quite interesting, and educational. Your commentators are varied in age and ethnicity, real people. Thank you, and congratulations.

The app will not work on Spectrum network?. I have Spectrum for phone, TV, and internet but when I downloaded the new app, I get an error message that the HTTP Proxy is not supported. It tells me I must log off and open the app without being logged into my internet account. It’s a Spectrum app and it can’t work if I’m connected to Spectrum internet!? When I try to get support for their app, I get the run around and no one seems to be able to assist. I’m told to disconnect and the app will work so what’s the problem? I’ll keep the old app, never had an issue with it!!!

Miss the old app. This app has potential but I really miss the old News 13 app. This new app doesn’t have a good radar. They barely ever report on the weather. They will make one report at 6am and leave it up all day. I want hour by hour weather reports on whats going to happen throughout the day. The new weather radar glitches all the time. And not to mention they’re such a biased news network. They need to be reporting on the truth instead of what toilet paper Fauci uses. Fix your app and start doing the right thing.

Horrible!. Absolutely horrible, way to much to complain about, and not enough time to write. They want you to sign in every time just to use the app, lack luster weather page (for a news station that prides themselves on weather) that doesn’t even include wind speeds anymore like the old app did, no marine forecast, etc. Just a horrible app, but hey “it looks cool” and completely not worth the download. The old app was waaaaaay waaaaaay better! Don’t waste your time with this crap, the unreliable IPhone weather is better, and that’s saying something

Forced log off. First I want to say that I love and appreciate the Spectrum news app, so I don’t want to come across as being over critical. I’m having a ton of issues being forced logged off and having to enter in my login information every few minutes. Getting hard to watch.

Weather photo upload needs improvement. Prior versions allowed a one time entry of name and email. This version requires re entry of name and email every time a pic is uploaded. Plus, last name is a mandatory field. I don’t want my last name publicized. Please make last name optional! Re entering all data with every upload is a pain. Save first and and email fields per device.

No longer works. This used to be a good app. Since the latest update it no longer works. All I get is a message to turn off the proxy which is already off. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still doesn't work.

A very positive service for subscribers. I like the news people and the weather people. Both divisions seem to be believable and honest and I have a sense that they are actually reporting rather than editorializing. I think this is a truly great service and I enjoy knowing that what I’m finding out about Ohio is at least reasonable and believable. I think all of the folksThat I have watched are enjoyable as well. They relate to me as a viewer and in many ways most of them seem to be talking directly to me which is a wonderful attribute

Essential and almost perfect but for…. I live in the Hudson Valley and work in NYC. My cable package rightfully includes Spectrum News 1 for the Hudson Valley as well as NY1. However, I am unable to (or cannot figure out how to) follow stories and read journalists from both channels on the app. I can even watch NY1 in the app. This would be really, really, really, nice given the massive overlap in essential coverage needs, from sports to transportation to state politics. So, please. And thank you.

Good daily review. Like no other source. A quick read of news coverage that is not just east coast propaganda. I don’t care about only what American oligarchs want me to believe. I already know that. This tells me about things that are of interest to working Americans. Thanks for a great product.

Weather radar needs fixing. I mainly use this app to check the live weather, however the radar focus mostly tries to show you the future movement of storms rather than letting you rewind and see where the storms are coming from and the way they’ve been moving. It always starts with the live radar feed and jumps ahead and I wish it would let you rewind so you can make a better determination of where a storm is headed. The predictive radar it gives isn’t very accurate either. The old app was much better for radar.

Spectrum is a ⭐️ News Channel. I find it import to have a Local News Channel on my phone in case I am away from home. I have been going back and forth on other News Channels and I picked Spectrum because it covers everything and I like all the News Castors!

Going to miss this app!. I’m going to miss this app when it goes behind a paywall within the next few days. Spectrum’s sky high fees make this unaffordable, for many folks anyway. Spectrum and their advertisers will be missing a large potential audience that might otherwise see their content.

Great App but I can’t login. This is a great app that I love to use to keep up with local news but for the past few weeks I haven’t been able to login so I cannot view any content. I’ll get a notification, click on it to view, and when the app opens it asks me to sign in with my spectrum service logins. When I input my logins it says they’re invalid. (They’re not because I can log in to spectrum to pay my bill) I’ve spoken with spectrum customer service who are, as usual, incredibly unhelpful. They told me to delete the app and re download which I have done a few times and I still run into the issue. I’m not one to usually leave reviews but I’m not sure how else to let someone know that I’m having this issue and hope for a possible solution. I would really love to view the news again but I’m getting to the point where I’ll just have to use a different app- please help!

I love it!!. I love this news station, app etc… This is the only local news that portrays the world in its “Real” life form. Diversity is an understatement!! When it comes to race, sex, size, shape and color… They got it covered. Other Television, news, radio stations should take notes from Spectrum news 1 because I LOVE what they are doing. Thank you!!!

Mrs carpenter. This app is so clean and easy to navigate. I love the top with the weather information. I always loved to watch spectrum news in my area but now I can watch it where my parents live too which is great!

Awesome, but signs me out a lot :/. I’m loving this news app, especially that I can watch the news live, as I only have the internet service, not a tv package. It’s a huge quality of life improvement, so thank you. However, the app signs me out twice every session, so about every 30-45 minutes, I have to hit sign in and my stream is interrupted. Once that’s fixed, this will easily get a 5* upgrade. Thanks again!

Loving it so far. Just moved to Rochester from Long Island a month ago and love the news and Spectrum News 1 is my new go to for all of my media news needs. My mornings will be spent with The Spectrum news team.

One word..awful. I used to have the news 13 app for many years and I loved it. Then spectrum took over. I went into settings and adjusted my preferences to what news alerts I want to receive. That was 4 months ago. I have yet to receive an alert. Now when you want to read a story you have to sign in. Ridiculous. It’s bad enough that like every news channel out there 13 has become very biased but now I have to put up with signing in so I can be monitored. So me and my family have deleted the app from our phones. Done.

Great news channel. I love spectrum news, I wake up at 5am with ybeth Brutal and the team every morning! It makes my day, just to hear a little bit of news gets me started. I know if I need an umbrella ☂, traffic and that slow downs. Gives me direction. Love the news team ❤️

Bull$#*& Survey. Don’t know whose bright idea it was to immediately after loading a new app to ask for a rating, but they should be fired. How can anyone give a proper answer if they have not used your service or the app? But an answer could be “Spectrum is going to get a lot of good ratings because anyone who is getting the app must have good thoughts about us”. So if every time I go to this app I get this rating popup, Spectrum et al. is getting 1star.

HTTP PROXY UNSUPPORTED. I just left a review and unfortunately couldn’t remember the error message I continue to receive whenever opening your App. Please help. I love Spectrum1 News. I receive all the notifications but unsuccessful at actually getting to read your news stories. Spectrum is my Cable/WiFi-Landline Phone Carrier as well. I have no issue in successfully connecting to Spectrum1 Weather; thank goodness. Is anyone able to advise me on fixing the issue I’m having? I deleted the App. Went to the App Store; downloaded again & I thought “Finally I’ll have my issue resolved”. Not !!! Thank you for any advice. At 70 I suppose I’m not quite as Tech Savvy. I have MS/Multiple Sclerosis, Widowed, unable to drive & spend all of my time at home other than Dr visits. I really like to keep up on the latest News. I don’t want to go to another News Station App. 😔 Hoping anyone can advise me. 🙏🏻

REALLY missing the old weather map. I live in the Tampa Bay Area, and my old Bay News 9 app was recently converted to this one. I frequently used the old app for the Klystron 9 weather map, as it was super precise and accurate… but this new weather map is SO choppy and hard to see when the rain is predicted to hit my specific area. PLEASE PLEASE integrate the old Bay News 9 weather map into this app!! This one is as useless as all the other weather maps available online.

Please bring back the old Spectrum app. The app takes 90 seconds to 3 minutes to open on my iPad and takes longer on Galaxy S9. The weather radar takes forever to work the you have to work for 3 minutes until you can see the direction of the storm’s travel. The old Spectrum weather radar worked just fine in May 2021, but after being forced to download the new app in June 2021 I’m about ready to find a new weather app.

News stories often glitch. I installed this app for news and weather. The weather function is great. The news leaves a lot to be desired. I often tap on a notification about a news story, only to have the app not load the story. It just takes me to the Home Screen of the app. It doesn’t even list the article in the app. This happens with brand new notifications. It’s frustrating to be offered a story by this news app, then not be able to access it or find it anywhere in the app. I guess I’ll find another app for news and turn off notifications for Spectrum’s app.

Totally recommend. I absolutely love not only this app, but the spectrum news team! Specifically in the Tampa Bay Area. This app allows you to do so many things, I’m sure I’m not even fully utilizing it and I still think it’s great. Weather and non-biased news is great and very accessible.

Please Fix Weird Bug. For the most part this app works great. However, I am having a bug with the app and can't find anywhere to report it or solutions to fix it. When looking at the weather for one location, it does fantastic. When I look for a second location it shows me closures for the first location. That isn't helpful when looking at the second location as it's a completely different state. If someone could please fix this bug it would be 5 stars!

Weather not improved, news intrusive. I replaced the dark blue app with this one. Old one much better. Weather map now harder to read, couldn’t silence news even after I turned off my phone. I deleted app. Won’t use again

Less useful. I was using the spectrum news site online regularly, until it changed a week or two ago. Working from home, I could have Spectrum News live on a device, iPad, and minimize it while checking my emails. This isn’t possible anymore, thus I’m going back to other news sources. Please change back, if possible. You’ll keep people using the app.

FINALLY.. THANK YOU! Finally a much needed, long overdue update. I had assumed this app had just been forgotten about. I can’t tell you how great it is to be able to watch In The Papers and get my local NY1 News — especially when I have to travel for work. It’s the single reason I have kept paying for a Spectrum Cable subscription and was ready to just let it go and use streaming services instead. One bit of feedback... I’m surprised it wasn’t designed as being “dark mode.” Hmm. Especially on an iPad screen there’s just way too much white space. It’s an odd choice. So, please at least add the option for a dark mode toggle. With more and more OLED displays and overall majority of iOS users opting for Dark Mode, it just makes the most sense.

Spectrum App. Really don’t care for the new Spectrum/Bat News 9 app that we were forced to update too. The Bay news 9 app alone was easy to navigate and never had issues while using it. Getting to our local weather was easy to access and see the map in a stationary position and or choose to see the Doppler Radar in action. This new app isn’t very user friendly, it’s confusing and over all plain. The work needed to be put towards having more anchors on the news so we don’t hear the same news stories over, and over and over daily. Thanks, but no thanks.

No longer able to upgrade on older Apple products using iOS 12!. Unfortunately....I get a message in my iPad Mini to upgrade to the new App. However, the upgrade fails because this device is not designed by Apple’s Planned Obsolescence Group, to upgrade to iOS 13. Perhaps your developers could address that issue. iPad works fine and really not planning to buy a new one right now. Guess I’ll use local TV station apps instead!!! Hope you figure out a solution.

I am in the future news and weather on my phone. It’s really cool to have the weather and the news on my phone anytime I want it and only spectrum does this and the weather guy is a gas heat for all his energy. I think it’s pretty cool thank you John Zalenski .

Really impressed so far. Great app for local news. I really like the detailed weather forecasts. Really has seemed very unbiased like it’s actual news I’m getting rather than bulls$&t from either side of the aisle. Hopefully that doesn’t change.

Awesome. Spectrum news is a role model for local news Chanel. I ‘m a French journalist living in New York and watch it everyday since I’ve arrived in 2013. Also anchormen and anchorwomen are professional diverses, and always look cool and relax . Serious but not too serious. Errol is my number one ;)

Just the Facts, Thank you.. I want News and nothing but News. Facts not biased opinions, not someone’s interpretation or polarized conclusions. Spectrum reports Facts so I can form my own “informed” opinion and educated conclusions. I don’t need a “Talking Head” to interpret a speech or sound bite I will get to see/hear live over and over.

Better than most. It’s a decent news app. The two problems are: the sports section is not updated often enough, the same stories are there multiple days and some articles in the news section only lead to an advertisement for the app itself one can’t actually read the article..

IOS Incompatible APP -. Ipad’s older than 4 years are not capable of updating IOS above 12.5, either renew the license for the previous version or make this app compatible. Our 2 units are brand new, however under the apple battery exchange program, the replaced units are built to the identical specifications of the units exchanged. Therefore allowing the IOS specificities to follow suit! Now that you know that, there are not many units with reduced IOS Capabilities going out to pasture, there is a need for older IOS platform apps. Apple does not exchange batteries, they exchange the unit to new, not refurbished, identical units, in the event that your theory is they will fade away after their 5 year life span!

SnowBird. Being a snowbird I actually like to see what is happening in the Tampa area through the spectrum news app. However when I must leave for border reasons. The app is shut down. Seems a little odd! I do get it but I wish you would take into consideration. We don’t want to leave, we have to. You want me to pay a small fee to keep the app well so be it. Or you could just let me read the news knowing I’ll be back and take spectrum again. So give me a reprieve of a date we agree upon and if I don’t make the return date. Then cut me off! I’ve been traveling back and forth for 12 years and I use spectrum for all those years. I think a little trust would be worth your time. I trusted you!

Don’t like the radar. I don’t like the functionality of the current radar. The old one allowed real time data that was able to read direction of the storms in the area. The new one gives a poor future cast when pressing play. It also doesn’t give the past hour in the play button.

Zero Notifications and App Doesn’t Update. I’m trying to like this app - wish it were more like the broadcast. I receive zero notifications, although they are turned on, and stories update once a day. There is so much news on the broadcast with very little here; disappointing. I sent feedback to developers and have yet to hear from them.

Needs to present multiple sides. I really like having local news, but I have found the reporting to be highly sensational and one-sided. I think their reporters need to step up in presenting both sides of an issue. Currently, these articles read as propaganda

Same ole banter. This is for the most part, a state of many people’s, Instead of practicing reverse prejudice like every other news organization try to remember who you’re representing, get the real facts from both sides and don’t show prejudice because of personal bias!

Good News. I like that Spectrum gives the news without their opinions attached. Only news source nowadays that I have found that does that.

1 star.. I used to use the Bay News 9 app, then it changed to this. Now I can’t even get the information it spams me because I am not a Spectrum subscriber. What’s the use in that? I can’t access information because I’m not a paying member of Spectrum? I didn’t choose you, I already had the app you guys felt the need to buy out and change. Now I have less news. Nice work, guys…..

Radar. Please please change the radar on this app to the one that was on the Bay News 9 app! The one on this app is awful. I’ve always used Bay News 9 radar and I’d hate to have to switch to something else 😭

Wrong Location. I want to like this app but it’s useless. I live in Austin and it shows news from DFW area. None of my other apps do that. Sorry but 1 star for you.

No Real Time Traffic Map!. The local Tampa Bay app is being shut down soon and is being replaced with this app. This app does not include a Real Time Traffic map. I use the traffic information daily before my commute to Tampa for work. What a shame. Hopefully traffic information will be included in an upcoming update.

Proxy issues?. This app has been down for a couple months. Why? It was the best news app around when it was working. Here is the message: HTTP Proxy Unsupported It looks like your device is connected to the internet using an HTTP proxy. To use Spectrum News, please turn off the proxy and try again.

Toooooo many notifications. I love Spectrum News. It is the only reason I keep cable however there are like 20 notifications a day. I could turn them off but I’d like to maybe just have breaking news not stories I’ve already seen repeatedly popping up in notifications. I’m going to delete because of this it is too much.

Bay news 9 app is awesome. Always works when I need it to and haven’t had many issues besides sometimes it logs me out for no reason.

Hunter Biden. I can’t seem to find any truly journalistic news outlet covering him and his foreign business connections. What I have heard is very disturbing for our national security. Maybe this is something you could journal the facts for your readers. Thank you!

Difficult to Access. The application is difficult to access. I would prefer your not putting me through so many changes in terms of getting the news as there are other outlets that allow easier access.

Changes in Format Are Horrible. Used to be an easy to use app but this update looks like it was designed by 4 year old trying to use every crayon. Inconsistent use if font and type size makes using the app on phone or tablet very difficult. Come on Spectrum, you can do much better.

Review of Spectrum News. This has become our favorite channel for all Texas news. Helps us keep track of our family and friends in times like this cold weather.

Good but needs sports. Good app overall but needs to have sports part of the app especially in favorites part

Not available for Optimum customers. With the new update, Optimum customers are no longer able to log in to use the live streaming app even though it is still part of Optimum cable service. I don’t understand this! I’m very disappointed as I typically watched NY1 using the app every morning. Why would you not provide an Optimum customer login if we’re still paying for it??

Stories. I never see any stories of the corruption of Trump. Makes me think you are a bias news station. I wish this player didn’t play in the background. Weather app needs current lighting map.

Amazed with the lack of coverage.. You forgot about your paying customers in Palm Coast. Been watching news13 for 24 hrs and you have great coverage and reports all over Central Florida. You have 1 guy under the Flagler bridge seems like he has been in the same spot for 24hrs. What about the other side by US-1 and Palm Coast Parkway or the W section that has no power. Conditions here are good, weather is pleasant, nice and cool. Have not seen any repair crews in the area at all. FPL website is useless. No info at this time. Would be nice if you all would do a report around us and get us some Help.

Spectrum News App. I am overall very impressed. I finally have a local/statewide news app free of banner ads. The app is also very easy to navigate. The only thing I'd say needs work is the design, which is a bit bland. Keep the same layout, though.

Up-to-minute local news. Great asset having local weather, news on phone. Appreciate exact location and explanation of severe weather situations.

News coverage. Y’all need to be much more balanced eg your border coverage. You guys love to bring up the fact of how bad conditions are for these folks and how we should do more. No mention that the cartel controls our border and fentanyl is killing 300 a day because our border is wide by open. We have no country without a secure border but spectrum acts like it’s no big deal!

Great Graphics. Easy to read, great art work and photos, interesting news stories !

Voter guide doesn’t work. I loaded the app just because of the advertised voter guide. Every time I click on the input box to give my address info, a pop-up covers the screen offering no option other than “cancel.” Absolutely useless for my immediate needs. Don’t need another useless app taking up space. Deleting now!

Spectrum News. I love it. Tells it like it is. I don’t watch news any more but this keeps me up to date

Trash app. I miss the old app. This new one is absolute trash. The only reason I had the app to begin with was because when it came to weather, it was the best information to get and the radar was excellent. All of that is gone now. You took an advanced app with a lot of great features and made this trash and you made it as cheaply as possible. Fix this worthless app!!

Bad radar. The main thing I have always used the Spectrum app for is weather, and more particularly, the radar. The old app’s radar worked great but this new app’s radar does not so I’m not sure why they changed it.

Would like more local news. I put in my location, but usually get only one story on my iPhone for my area. Most of the articles are for the Orlando area, state or national news. I have enough apps covering those locations. I would love to have an app that covers Melbourne/Palm Bay Area in more depth.

Terrible. The weather radar is awful!! The previous BayNews9 app was fantastic with reliable weather. This one doesn’t even show the live radar, when you push play it shows a projected future weather pattern. I’m not interested in where you guess it’s going to rain in 2 hours! If I’m checking it’s because I need to see where it’s raining now and what direction it’s heading.

Typical Spectrum. Doesn’t deserve any stars but must give it one to be able to give a review. In typical Spectrum style, it’s not about the customer experience. Articles are few, stale and old, weather simply doesn’t work well on phone as forecast doesn’t fit screen and you can’t scroll to see all of the columns. BayNews 9 app was MUCH better IMHO.......Spectrum app is “Deleted”...........

Great Labor Day (Monday) 2023 NY1 Coverage. What a joy watching Spectrum News 1 this morning!! SHANNON and ALYSSA were so lovely and pleasant and informative! I wonder, however, WHY their names are not mentioned or even shown (I did see/hear Alyssa’s name for a quick minute before her J’Ouvert piece), but these young women deserve some recognition for holding the Fort & giving up their time on a holiday weekend! Bad Radar. I like the old radar view and the old app was so much easier! I work on a golf course and The Spectrum app was my go to! Now I can’t get the correct movement of the storm. Please change the way you do the radar. Right now I can’t rely on this app for the radar. I will be switching

Nothing unique or local about it. I downloaded it because it was sold as having a community connection and local news. It looks like nothing better than any of the other news outlets pushing the biggest stories, the most popular crap. Meh.

Get the news quickly. News at your fingertips without all the commercials! Nice!

Spectrum News. Always enjoy Spectrum News and Weather on my TV on the 1s. The news and weather on my IPhone is also excellent. Both keep me up to date…thanks.

Amazing News App. This app is so helpful and allows easy access to Wisconsin news. I love seeing extra content that is not only what you see on the actual newscast. Very well put together and organized❤️

Have a minor issue that cripples my use. I am an Optimum customer. As an Optimum customer, I get Spectrum News on channel 64. I can’t sign in with my Optimum account, however, and therefore I can’t watch live. I am paying for this channel, and since Optimum broadcasts it, I should be able to use the Spectrum News app. This issue won’t affect most people, but it cripples my ability to use Spectrum News.

Meh. Just another news aggregator service. Nothing posted that is not available from multiple other sources. Not much value added in terms of fresh content. Typical left wing bias on most of the stories. There are at most three or four new stories in the news link, after that the stories are weeks, even months old. App deleted. Another sign that true journalism is in its final days. A mile wide and an inch deep.
