By the way, App Store reviews are very helpful to us. If you think Fantastical is worthy, would you mind taking a moment to write a nice review? We'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for using Fantastical! :)
I really love this app. I use it daily and it’s, mostly, a vast improvement over the stock calendar. That said, I do understand why there is no attachment support. When I make plans (ie, flights, hotels, reservation confirmations, etc) I like to attach confirmed info so it’s easily accessed while I’m actually out. The stock calendar app includes this ability, the Mac version of Fantastical includes this, as do many other apps. But, for some reason, the iOS version of Fantastical doesn’t have this ability. Add this and, to me, 5-star app.
Supposedly there’s a search function - but I can’t get it to work. Pulling down on the calendar just switches between week/month view. Additionally - I don’t like that it doesn’t pick up on cancelled meetings, as far as being able to acknowledge and delete them. I have to go into my calendar app to do that and it just seems like a miss for something that’s rated so high in the App Store. Currently, I don’t feel like this is helping me to be any more productive than my factory calendar app.
I like the app and I use it often on both my Mac and my phone. That said, there are some issues that I find with the app. These issues stand out given the price of the app. The first is that during daylight savings time, everything on my calendar was moved back by an hour. It seems to me that I will now have to manually adjust everything. For such a smart app, I find that extremely frustrating and disappointing. Secondly, although I love the Reminders section of the app, I wish that we could label/tag certain reminders with either colors or titles/keywords. I also wish we could organize them by theme rather than time. Lastly, Google Calendar (which is free) has a variety of “event” colors whereas Fantasical has 2. I do more things related to just “work” and “home” and I’d like that reflected in my calendar. Please, please make these adjustments or if I’ve gotten anything wrong reach out to me.
So the fact I AM writing a review should tell you something. This app has helped me to organize my life and I no longer have a need to maintain a handwritten calendar. It allows me to see a day, a week and a month all at one glance. I’ve been able to add my work calendar which has helped tremendously. THANK YOU!
Fantastical is a fantastic app! There is a ton of functionality and well worth the money. That being said, I wish I had the option to use it as a reminders complication on my Apple Watch. I think more functionality and customization when it comes to the watch would be much appreciated. Great companion and integration with Apple iCloud separate lists and calendars.
Calendar is too tiny .. be nice if they had a setting to give you the choice to have a full calendar.. save your money..
I love this app but it stopped syncing with my partner’s phone. We’ve tried it all to fix it, and nothing works. Very disappointing.
EDIT: Thank you for the response, but you guys aren’t listening! Reminders ARE enabled! I can see the reminders in the LIST of reminders, but I just want scheduled (dated) reminders to appear IN THE CALENDAR (when you turn the iPhone horizontally), the way it does on the desktop app. The desktop has the list of reminders, and the SCHEDULED reminders are ALSO placed in the calendar. I don’t know how to make this any more clear and it’s super frustrating and disheartening to have paid for an app that doesn’t function the same in the mobile version. —— Original review: It’s like you guys are ignoring me. This feature request will not take away from anyone whatsoever. If anything, it will match the desktop app and be more cohesive. Why do you not add scheduled reminders to the horizontal calendar view?? Why?
This app needs a total reworking towards an intuitive UE: There is no monthly calendar as such, which means you can't see groups or patterns of exact entries — e.g., see Calendars 5 or also, on the iPhone, the Google calendar for what an intuitive monthly view should look like; bars on the weekly view are useless — who knows what they communicate; and, empty days don't show in the list, adding to the confusion. It's an app that fails at being quick and intuitive. If you want a dot/agenda calendar just use the native iOS calendar, use Reminders, and save your money. (But, Fantastical does have a good widget.) To the Developer: Thank you for your response, but, honestly, quod erat demonstrandum.
I love fantastical. It makes my life so happy. I have it on my Mac, iPad, iPhone... until I got an Apple Watch. I have an Apple Watch series 4, I don’t put work MDM managed calendars or whatever, just normal google calendars. My Apple Watch un-syncs, every, single, night. Let me be clear: every morning, I open the Watch app, general, reset data sync (multiple times) then my Apple Watch loads up my fantastical data... until I sleep. And then the cycle continues. And then recently: it un-syncs every like 30 minutes. I paid, full price for these apps. And I’m willing to tolerate even the daily inconvenience, and I don’t even write reviews because I just don’t get bothered that much. But I’m writing this review because I am no longer able to use the Fantastical app that I purchased because it doesn’t work. 2 stars because it works everywhere else; 2 star because it doesn’t work on Apple Watch.
This app just works and is pretty awesome. It would be perfect if it could calculate travel times between appointments based on location (same as generic iOS calendar)
Highly recommend fantastical. Easy to navigate and supports multiple calendars across many different calendar apps . Only reason for four stars is one purchase does not give multiple platform access, had to but for phone and Mac
Edit: seems like the dev has pretty much abandoned this app. No major features released, just “bug fixes” every now and then and support in the ratings (which is just fixing 1 small thing and submitting the update and helping a few people with things so they can having good ratings to show they still support the app, which just encourages users to buy the app). App is pretty much just a cash grab now with not even implementing basic calendar features. Stick with calendars by Readdle if you want a better experience for a better price. Good calendar app but missing a few things that should be included for a $8 app. Dark theme needs to be full like the actual top calendar and settings Custom app icons would be a plus (different colour icons) Needs support for other browsers in open links in such as DuckDuckGo and Firefox focus Needs support for other map apps in open locations in such as google maps and HERE WeGo Small extended bar bug in settings sometimes when scrolling Should have support for adding multiple calendars from different services (gmail, outlook) this is a must!! Attach files/photos from iCloud Drive to event
This is hands down my favourite calendar app on iOS. It is a staple app that every iOS user must have.
I love this particular app as it’s the only one that I have found that will do a search for events that are older than a year. Search results go as far back to your very first entry. Thank you so much for that as it has made a HUGE difference to me 😀👍. I also am a big fan of calendar events and reminders all showing up in the same view. Worth every cent!
This is a good app. I’m using it happily, but... I was searching for a cross-platform replacement to Apple Calendar, across phone, iPad and Mac - so I’d expect a little more feature parity for the collective price tag, plus the odd extra nicety. We’re talking a collective price tag of AUD $103 for all thee apps, after all. Missing: - iCloud sync for app settings - Calendar Sets (an amazing feature on the Mac version) - Portrait week-view on iPhone (check out Calendar 5 by Readdle) - More view options, in general, to make it on parity with Google Calendar, Apple Other items: - Dark Mode is half a dark view. If I want ‘Dark’, I want all the interface to be darkened. As it stands, it’s half dark and kind of annoying - Creation of Calendars and Reminder Lists would be great. I also don’t see an option for Google Task integration.
I was not happy with iCal and tried several calendar app. I tried this app with initial hesitation due to paid for. However, I finally made to conclusion that this paid app is worth the money. I also bought the Mac version. So, now all of my apple devices practical synced with this app. Awesome! One feature need to be added, IMO, is direct link to Waze in relation to address. I hope it will be included soon.
Read a lot about the app and finally bought over the weekend for my iPhone, iPad and Mac. Love the natural language event creation. But extremely disappointed that notifications are not working on my iPhone. Have tried everything at this stage including restarting the phone.
When using it on the complicated Apple Watch face , rather than having a calendar icon, can you put a day and date?
I hate wordy reviews so short mine will be. It’s visually cool and the merger of reminders and appointments in the same day is a great feature!!!
Best for appointments
By the way, the release notes are very helpful for us. Next time you submit those you can try being more descriptive!
Got this app because it's widely stated to be the best calendar for Apple Watch. However, I'm not impressed. For me, the main problem with the stock calendar on the watch is that you can't edit events. It turns out you can't edit them using Fantastical either, so the main thing I bought it for does not function and in my opinion it is no better than the stock app in any way. No day-view on iPhone app, either, which is something that I like to have in a calendar app. Disappointed, especially considering the cost.
I like this app, but I wish there was a way to turn off the colloquial language detection if desired. I often will write an event in the calendar at a future date that says something like 'dinner with friends in evening' and then the app will change the date of the event to today.
So much better than the stock Apple app. I use this every day. Superb and for once this is actually TRUE! Great job
Much better than any other calendar I ever used on iOS.
A great app that doesn't eat your battery. This is one of my more useful apps. Highly recommend
Not only replaces the default calendar but extends it with a bevy of new features. Simply essential!
To be honest, this used to be a must-have app but since iOS 7 Apple's built-in calendar app does most of the same things with a cleaner user interface. The Fantastical is now woefully overpriced for something that offers little over the default app. A bad purchase choice in my opinion and I just (regretably) bought it!
While the phone app is excellent it is not ready for the Apple Watch. This us not acceptable and must be fixed forthwith.
