Love this app!. I find this app super helpful when looking for safe and healthy options in my grocery stores and on a daily basis. I have found myself incredibly surprised by which products have toxins and seed oils in them that I totally didn’t expect - this app has led me to choose healthier alternatives in my ingredient choices that I feel so thankful for 🙌 Will definitely continue using

Unauthorized charge. It’s listed as a free app with in app purchases but it automatically Charged me $60

This changed my life. This app changed my life. I had no idea what I was eating. Now I know. What an amazing feat of technology. I can now know what I am eating and why. Thank you, olive.

MUST HAVE for anyone who takes their health seriously. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been reading everywhere about how harmful seed oils and different additives can be but it’s impossible to tell when I’m shopping at the grocery store for my kids or looking for a place to eat out. I want to make sure my kids grow up eating clean foods so that they practice healthy habits and are informed about the ways that additives can be so detrimental to their health. With Olive handy, I can finally go grocery shopping without worrying about what these massive food production companies are trying to hide from consumers

Doesn’t work. I want my money back !

Blames food for autism??. Listed three points when I first downloaded the app. The third being childhood cancer and autism are at a record high. I understand childhood cancer but autism is genetic and we are actually researching it now instead of just saying someone is different or ignoring it. Very ignorant for an app about food to bring up specifically autism when they could’ve said childhood obsesity which is a bigger problem than someone being neurodivergent. Loved the idea of being able to find clean food for myself and my family as I have a harder time digesting processed foods but this is a no for me. I’ll find another app that doesn’t act like someone thinking differently is a big enough issue they need to list it as a reason to have their app.

A better Yuka. Olive is amazing. It helps me avoid unhealthy products and toxic foods. They have lab testing data for things ranging from baby food to olive oil. It’s really cool and helpful to see. I love the restaurant map too. Just like Seed Oil Scout but looks way cleaner and easier to use. Also, their opening animation is hilarious and very cute

Most used app on my phone. Next to X, I use olive more often than any other app. Used to use Apple Maps to find places to eat, now I just open olive and find seed oil free restaurants that are near me on the built in map.

Can’t try before you buy. It says you can sign up for a free trial, and after you go through allllll the steps to set up an account, you can’t scan anything! A window pops up with only 2 choices - a monthly or an annual subscription. You can’t move forward to even see what the app is like without paying for it. I don’t mind paying $20/year for a great tool, but I want to know that it works. Based off of the one star reviews, it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot loaded into the app yet so it’s not very functional. Super bummed.

Incredible. I had no idea how bad so much of the food in our pantry was. This app will really change the way we eat.

Not off to a good start. I just signed up and received the email confirming but the app is saying no account with my email exists. It’s making me go through the set up steps again and at the end asking for payment again.

Not free. Hate these apps that says it’s free but cost money for a subscription. Wanted to try it out bc it was recommended but didn’t even go through with finishing the questionnaires.

App has no content. I scanned 3 items in my pantry. It didn’t recognize any of them. Wants me to upload images etc, but they want to charge me for building their db. Yuka is free and has all the items in my pantry. So, I deleted this asap and saved the subscription fee

Scan. Scanning functionally on app does not work well

Can’t get past the beginning screens. It doesn’t take me anywhere past the free trial page. Cancelled.

Life Changer. I haven’t grocery shopped without it since, thank god for the alternative options too, all my BFFs are addicted to olive now!

definitely changed my diet. This app is awesome! I’m learning so much about the products I eat and shop for. Highly recommend to anyone looking to reduce their or their family’s intake of ultra-processed foods and harmful additives

My favorite food is bad. i didn't like olive at first because it kept giving all my favorite food a bad score but i actually started finding healthier alternatives to my snacks. hopefully i can continue to improve my diet

Forced purchase. I was excited to use it, but you can’t use it unless you pay right off the rip. I thought I was getting a free trial but I was charged instantly. I tried to cancel it as soon as I purchased it but it didn’t let me.

Rlly eye opening!. Used this at Trader Joe’s. Made me not buy so many products that I was used to getting. had no idea how toxic some of the groceries I’m so used to buying are!!!

Cannot Do Swipe So I Can Get An Account!. I downloaded this app from my Apple Store, and it says on the opening page to swipe to the right to get it to open, but no matter how I swipe, real fast press down real hard, and then swipe hard or swipe normally nor any other means of swiping, can I get this lousy app to ever open! I need a workaround so I can get this app to open if I am ever going to use it! Go ahead and cancel what I wrote above here because while the swipe arrow was pointed to the right, I discovered by accident that it actually wanted me to swipe to the left! So now I am in there, and I have set up the basic application so everything is good so far!

The Best Health App!. I’ve been using the Olive app for a while now, and it seriously makes grocery shopping so much easier. I love that I can just scan something and instantly see what’s actually in it, not just the calories, but ingredients, additives, and how clean it is overall. It’s super helpful if you’re trying to eat more intentionally or avoid certain things like seed oils or artificial stuff. I also like that you can customize it based on your preferences!

It says free trial. It said multiple time you don’t have to pay anything , and then 15$ charged on my credit card. Deleting app and disputing with the bank, it’s a lie, haven’t even try the app. Charge for what? For not even opening the app

As a busy mom, I don’t have time to read through every ingredient label at the store when picking up snacks for my kids, so I simply scan the barcode to find out if it’s free of toxins, preservatives, food dyes, artificial ingredients, seed oils and more! Misleading. You’re lead to believe you can use the app without paying, however you can’t get past the “payment” screen. It’s a waste of time and effort. Other apps at least allow you to use a free form. Olive doesn’t even allow that. You have to register a payment before your trial can even start. It’s a ripoff; text book style.

Can Scan But Can’t Take Photos. Great idea for an app but it doesn’t work for setting up a new item. The camera can scan the barcode and then it asks you to snap photos of the item so it can be added to the system. The camera won’t take pictures.

Something I was looking for. After having a kid my partner and I were worried about what we are feeding her. This app helps us avoid food with harmful chemicals so that we feel confident about it.

Life-changing for people with allergies. I don’t have a family, this is just for me, and Olive has been a huge help. My allergies really limit what I can eat, and sometimes I have no choice but to turn to processed foods. Olive makes it so much easier to find options that are safe. The restaurant listings are also super helpful, especially for avoiding seed oils and sneaky soy. I finally feel like I have control over what’s in my diet. Thanks Olive.

Seemed great till I wanted to start with a free trial. I was so excited for this app while I was getting it set up but then I clicked start free trial rather that paying up front and it started glitching. This was really disappointing 😭 I’m sure it’s great for people who are able to spare money for a good scanning app

Best App Ever. I love this app! It is helping me make better choices for my family, I’m able to find clean choices I can feel good about out giving them. I have PCOS and I feel like it’s from the food I ate growing up. I wish this would have been around when I was growing up.

Sneaky subscription pay wall.. The app says they will identify sneaky ingredients, but in reality after putting time into answering questions you can’t get into the app without committing to pay $70! I understand there is a 7 day free trial, but that relies on me remembering to cancel because I don’t have the money for this subscription right now. Disappointing and not up front reveal. I would rather that be the first screen and once I decide I get asked all the questions because now it’s an immediate delete when it seems like it would’ve very helpful.

Makes grocery shopping so much easier!. Olive is my new bestie! 🫒🫶 It helps me see through brands that “claim” to be healthy, but are really just distracting us with cute advertising. LIFE SAVER. I am a first time mom and ever since I got pregnant I wanted a low/non toxic lifestyle for my family. This app has allowed me to make smarter choices for my family and the food we buy. I have been using it for awhile now and it’s 100% worth it. I would love to see them expand and tell us what other products are healthier choices (skincare, supplements, etc)

Wants a review before I’ve used the app. I’m giving a mid rating because I like what I’ve seen during set up, but can’t commit to liking it since I have to give the review before the app is even fully functional. A bit of a design flaw, but I will definitely edit my review once I actually have access to the app and can give an honest rating.

The BEST food scanner app!!!. Olive has completely CHANGED my life!! I’m on a wellness journey and this app has made it so easy to find healthy foods. It makes it easy to understand the ingredients lists and tells you exactly what to avoid. If I could give it 100 stars I absolutely would!!

Heavy Metals Seem Hardly Tested. So I got this app in hopes of avoiding heavy metals for my baby as he starts his little food journey. This app advertises the test for heavy metals but I swear everything I scan has not been tested. Even when I try searching for items in the search bar from doing online research the item will either not show up or show up and be without the heavy metal testing. So for me, this is really disappointing and defeats the purpose of even getting the app.

Confusing. I downloaded this to gain some insight on my protein bars and shakes. The app said everything I’ve been eating is 0/100 so that stressed me out. When I search for alternatives, it will say the processing profile is low but the processing level is almost ultra processed. HUH?! I’m already trying to find better stuff and this just made it harder. Help me understand.

Great customer service. I love this app as a helpful tool to be aware of what we are putting in our bodies! The fact that it scans for seed oils is also extremely helpful. It also can be fine tuned to what you are avoiding in your diet. This company has excellent customer service and support for any questions their customers may have.

Best app for new moms trying to feed their baby well!. I’m so thankful for Olive! When I heard the other apps are biased and taking money I once again felt like my family’s health was at risk but now I feel like there’s hope that I can feed my family well!

Worst App Onboarding. Onboarding was a never ending set of questions that are mostly not relevant to how I plan to use the app. It forces you to select from a pre populated list of frustrations with competitor apps if you indicated that you’ve used a similar app before. Well, I have used others and don’t have frustrations with them….I’m just exploring your app! I haven’t even used the Olive app yet and I’m frustrated with it..LOL

Boomchacklacka. I love the idea of the app! They need lots of five star reviews, so they can get better and better. However, the scanning gets so much wrong that it’s just not even worth using the app😅. Once they improve then I’ll get back to them

Amazing customer service. Iv used the app some now and did have a small issue but I can say 100% that Olive has some of the best customer service. So even if you doubt the app, try it. It is a great app and comes with great people to back it.

Ridiculous Survey and Required Subscription Before You Can Even Try It. The app forces you to answer about 110 questions before you can see or access anything. You are also forced to subscribe before you can try the app. Most apps let you close out of the subscription question without forcing you to do the free trial period. I deleted this immediately after the ridiculous survey and you can even see the app functionality to determine if it’s what you’re looking for.

This app is AMAZING!. I have been using the Olive app since the end of March and I am obsessed. It is super easy to use and it gives you everything you need when you want information on a food product. I am healthier and changed many of my food choices because of this app. Thanks Olive!

Helps me flag sneaky names for additives!. I have kids who have super specific diets put on by their pediatrician. Sometimes ingredients go by other names, maybe some I haven’t heard. I love that I can click on all the additives and see their different names and how they are harmful! Makes shopping for my kids snacks and meals so much easier.

Pantry and History 😡. Almost since paying the year subscription, my pantry keeps disappearing.. and now my history and pantry saw can’t load… with no help 🥴 I want to live this app!!! Help! UPDATE! Latest update fixed my issue! Thank you 🙏🏻

I don’t want to pay…. When I downloaded the app I did the questionnaire and put in my dietary information but when it took me to the premium membership screen the not interested button was faulty and so small it was impossible to click and would only allow me to click the yes interested button maybe this was just my experience but do not buy if you’re not interested in the membership they force you to have it to use this app.

Pretty New Room For Improvement. I was excited to try this since I usually use Yuka but I notice Yuka was saying some ingredients were safe and had 0 risk when research shows otherwise (fluoride) so I was like they got to be bias… but this App is not family sharable which is dumb since multiple people shopping for a family will have to each pay for the app and it’s expensive…

Money grab. All I wanted to do was scan some items in my pantry to maybe find some healthier alternatives for my kids, but the app won’t even let you continue without signing up for a trial. It also asks a ton of questions, then gives you a score and you have to “commit to 90 days” of use. It asks if you believe you can change your life with clean eating within that time frame, if you click the “I’m not sure” button, it prompts a pop up that says the app isn’t for you then. Feels super weird and judgy. I guess it’s right after all, not for me!

Needs Improvement. I love the idea of this app, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. Most of what I scan isn’t already in the database, and what am I paying an app for if I have to enter in the ingredients every time myself? It also relies on a photo to be able to see the entire nutrition label, and this isn’t the case with most packaging, so it’s common for ingredients to be left out. Lastly, there needs to be someone monitoring duplicate entries with inconsistent labeling!

Could be a lot better. A lot of the ratings are inconsistent, where a product will have an ingredient and be praised for it then a different product will have the same ingredient and be heavily marked down for it. The search bar never works even though the items are in their system, and sometimes ingredients are left out resulting in a false score. For a paid app this definitely needs to be better

App seems to have issues. I signed up for the one month trial. When I scan an item it gives me score, but when I click into it. The score is different (it does not match the original score displayed). Also, it has the same item listed multiple times with hugely different scores. I was excited about this app, but I won’t be continuing with the subscription.

Not very convenient.. When I first downloaded the app, I was able to just search for products. Now? A majority of the products have to be scanned with their barcode, they don’t come up when you search them. For example, I scanned a specific vitamin and it comes up in my search history. When I manually search for it, I cannot locate it. I’m so disappointed in purchasing this app and not going for something else.

Inclusivity except for….. I love all the dietary and allergen options, however, I find it interesting there is no low/no-carb option for those on a keto diet or someone, like me, who is Type 1 diabetic. (can’t for those type 2’s either, as their health is HEAVILY dependent on nutrition choices.) I’d love to see a low/no-carb option and an option to include that you or someone in your family is diabetic!! Haven’t gotten far into the app yet, so if there’s a subscription wall rendering the app useless to me…0 ⭐️

Needed for crunchy girl like me. I seriously love using this app I scan everything now! I was using other apps but found out they get paid to rate things where this app doesn’t do that so I can actually trust them!!!

Jump through hoops. Seems like a useful app. I actually want to use it more but even after signing up for a year subscription they require you to share the app with friends 3 times before you can use some features like the pantry. If I’m paying for an app, don’t make me jump through hoops to promote your app before I can even use it fully.

Login Issues. I was super excited to try out the app as someone who is allergic to gluten and needing to ensure gluten is not in the products I’m buying. However, after setting up the account and signing up (including the subscription), the app would not allow me to login. I had created an account through my Google account. I tried re-setting the password and it still didn’t work. I attempted to reset the password again but was not receiving the email to reset it again. I ended up just canceling it through my iCloud subscriptions and deleting it.

Shady Business Practices. I opted into the 3 day free trial. After using the app for 1 day, decided it wasn’t for me. So I went to cancel the subscription before it charged me. It shows up nowhere in my subscriptions in my settings. So I went to the app and looked in the settings there. All it shows is that I have the “free” version but no way to check and make sure I’m not subscribed to anything. So I assumed that it must’ve not went through. Fast forward to today and they charged me 7.99. Tried once again to cancel and it doesn’t allow me to. Be very careful with this app

$69/anually and Too Many Requirements To Keep The App. You not only need a subscription to access a majority of the app, you need to share it with 3 people in order to access any of their ratings on the safe items. I got the free trial to see what it was about but the sharing requirement made me cancel immediately. They also throw in a free one-on-one health coaching session but there are no open slots for the foreseeable future. $69 for a subscription and you can’t even access everything is crazy.

You have to pay!. The fact that at the beginning when I first opened the app, it told me that it wouldn’t make me pay for anything then at the very end I can’t even continue to use it and actually test how or if it works, until I put in my credit or debit card because it wants to start charging me either monthly or weekly is crazy if it says that it’s free to begin with it should be free and nothing more or less! The whole world is clearly trying to make healthy eating only for people that have enough money to do so and I think it is so wrong!

Eating better with Olive. Olive has really opened our eyes. We thought we were pretty healthy eaters before. Now we feel like we have the tools to make even better decisions at grocery stores just by doing quick scans. And it’s fun!

Love this app!. This app helps us quickly scan food to make sure our products are free off seed oils. We are even able to set personal alarms for food allergies which has been super helpful. It makes making simple non toxic swaps easier for my family

Great App even better customer support. I tried the app, and absolutely loved it. Super quick super easy and it let me know if a product was good or bad. I had to contact customer support and they FANTASTIC. If every company was like this, it would be amazing! Quick responsive and friendly help! Highly recommend this service

Love the concept, doesn’t scan most of the times!. The times I’ve been able to capture a picture of the item I want to scan, the app offers great insights. But most times I’ve tried to take a picture of the box / item, it never works. It may be an issue on my end, but it should be very intuitive. Press the scan button, and it should scan but it does not.

A MUST have!!!. I’ve been living the Olive app so far! It makes ingredient checking so easy and helps me feel more confident about what I’m buying for my family. Definitely recommend if you’re trying to make cleaner choices without over thinking everything😊

More intolerances. I’m diagnosed with fructose intolerant, it’s more common than you think! It’s a condition where your body can’t process sugar, causing blockage in your intestines. for most cases it’s just a a stomach ache. But for me personally it’s constipation, bloating, long term malabsorption. I’m ended up in the hospital for my case. I think it would be great to look into more intolerance due to more research is being done every day. Please add more :)

the BEST grocery scanner!. I use this app when shopping for my family and i am SO grateful i found it!! Especially when it comes to baby food, Olive goes above and beyond to lab test the food to ensure they are safe for your family. It shows you more than just looking at a label will. It makes shopping way less stressful and holistic health easier!

Not bad but not paying. The app doesn’t seem bad but there was no indication of a subscription untill I started to set it up and I know I can get a free trial but I don’t have money like that once it’s over and thought I could have safer options for my kid but that money could go towards their food instead of a subscription based app that doesn’t even tell you there’s a subscription so I’ll just use what I can find on the internet and apps like TikTok for free

Healthy family. I am loving using this app! It’s making me so much more aware of the things I am giving my kids especially to eat. Ive been shocked to find out some of the things that I thought were better options really were full of junk too! The knowledge and peace of mind is definitely worth the price to me!

Good intentions. Whereas I like the idea and thought behind this app, it needs a lot of work. Especially for $60 a month?! Almost everything I scanned was not in its system. As a mom on the go in the store with toddlers, I don’t have the time to put in the product FOR YOU. Not with impatient littles in tow. I was charged the full amount before I realized a week had passed, that’s on me bc I don’t go to the store often. But $60 is excessive. Js.

Scores change when clicking on products. I just downloaded this app, and am playing with the search function. I am noticing products will have one score when scrolling a list of items, then once I click on something the score changes. Kind of misleading and I’m not sure about this app right now. 🤨

I LOVE Olive. I love olive!!! It reassures me I’m picking the right products for my daughter who is severely allergic to gluten and dairy. I have been trying to transition our diets to a more holistic one as well, and I have been able to do so with this app! I recommend to anyone who has simple allergies or truly wants to improve and transition their dietary living.

Rating. I really want to get this app but I’m unsure like the other apps that have been going around, really wish they’re was a bit of a free version to help people with what they need, still think this app is way better than the other ones is just the pricing that makes it difficult

Subscription. I hate subscription based apps that make you go through 20 steps and then announce it. I feel like there should be tiers as how do i know this app is great and actually helpful in 7 days compared to alllll the rest? You don’t but then you just paid $70 for a year and have to hope it’s actually legit. I just hate that you have to pay for something so quickly and have little information on it. The graphics of it are cute but that part just put me off made me immediately delete.

Great when it works. I was really excited about the app, and even more excited when I accidentally paid for a whole year subscription. Even though I already know most of the information I found it interesting to scan on products we used to see if it was consistent with what we thought. However the app has a ton of bugs and zero help screen in the app itself. It always has an error when I try to add pictures of a new product and when a product is incorrect it never fixes it. Really disappointed.
