When we first had our baby this was an okay device. I would’ve purchased something different but my gf got the Hatch Rest. It’s just lacks innovation. It can’t keep up with technology, you can’t upgrade it to do anything else other than what it was preset for. Fine I get it. But as my baby grows and he is now about to be 1 year old, the rest app is just the same as it ever has been. Boring. I just don’t understand, all it takes is a simple software update of some sort to allow it do so much more, it’s capable of doing plenty but the app remains the same. Same old music same old sounds, same old color changing lights that cannot play other music like classical music, Mozart Beethoven Bach and Vivaldi. So pretty much have to get out the iPad out to play these kind of songs cuz it is what puts the baby to sleep, not the white noise or the birds chirping or any sound on the Hatch Rest. I’m so tired of the same stuff you put out and I’m like why can’t you guys add something to it. A small update, add another lullaby. Do something because your proving to all of us customers, that this device doesn’t grow with the babies it was meant to be for. It’s just the same old Hatch Rest device that I hate to say our baby monitor can outperform any day any time

good but could be great. When I finally got my babies out of my room, I was so happy expect the one thing I missed was the white noise machine. I’m a pretty utilitarian person so I’m not a big fan of one trick ponies, but the hatch restore really spoke to me as the adult version of what I had been using for my kids. However, it’s missing a few functions that seem pretty intuitive for what it’s supposed to offer. One thing, I love that you can set the clock display to turn off when you want it to, I.e., in the middle of the night. But, it would also be great if you could set periods of time to different brightness levels. I have it set to very low light bc I don’t want it to be glaring at night when I’m trying to use soothing low light to help get to sleep. But then it’s impossible to see during the day when it’s bright out. Should be able to set it to a bright setting during peek sun hrs and lower light setting during evening hrs before sleep or for early am so you can always see the clock but it doesn’t take you out of sleepiness. Also, I really wish it had a third setting to be able to just turn it off and on like a lamp. It’s goofy to have something that big on your night stand that you use for a reading light but not be able to just turn it off and on like a lamp. Otherwise, I like it. But could totally love it.

Update: The app is great. I wanted to update this review. The developers reached out to me to help solve my issue. I tried to get proof (screen shot or screen record) of my issues, but since writing the review I haven’t had any issues. The app is great. I haven’t had any issues in 6 months or so. The app is spotty and doesn’t always find my device. I use my device multiple times a day, it is always on autoconnect, I never change the settings and there are times where I have to manually change the sound on the bottom of the hatch because there is “no device found”. That is SUPER annoying when I’m trying to turn off the light after a night feeding and the app won’t find my device. I have learned to have presets saved that have no light options. It’s annoying. But when the app works, it’s great.

Suggestions for restore app. For the hatch restore, I would love the options to have different night routines. Right now I am having to add 5-6 meditations I like and manually turn them all off and the one I want one before I can start the routine for the night. I would love to set up different night routines with different meditations. I think it would be even better to have the option to set a routine to a specific day (kind of like the alarms in the morning). I would like to have a longer reading light time during the weekend for example. So I could have a weeknight and weekend routine set and wouldn’t have to open the app, only use the alarm to turn on the routines at night and the corresponding one would start. For the wake up alarms.. I would really appreciate being able to save them with a custom alarm names. I’ve also noticed that a lot of times you can’t even see which days the alarm is assigned to when on the home page turning on your alarm. You have to go into settings to edit the alarm to see if it’s for the right day. I think custom name, description of sound, and days the alarm is assigned would be great to have on the home page!

Can be glitchy. Overall we like the idea of this device, we've had it for 3 years. It tends to wake kids up when It switches from "bedtime" to "ok to wake". The main sound we liked (tv static) -after a year or so of regular use - started glitching on and off randomly during the night waking the kids. So we had to switch to another sound (the waves), which we didn't prefer. That TV static sound has never worked again, even after firmware updates. One sound we wish it had, but doesn't, is a fan sound. The steady sounds seem to Leo the kids asleep and drown out noise better, but this device is heavier on tunes instead of effective sound blocking white noise. The light is a godsend though, honestly, and is why I give this two stars. Were it not for the light - which is great technology, and kept our 4 year old from coming to our room every night at 3 a.m. - I would rate this lower. We had a Dohm for 6 years that never had an issue and worked great, but the downside was it had no light technology.

Hatch Restore - doesn’t free me from my phone. This review is for the Hatch Restore sunrise alarm + app. I’ve had it for about 5 months. Pros: great sunrise alarm, easy to use, attractive on the nightstand, able to dim or turn off the time display at night. Decent selection of audio in the app. Cons: I really wanted an alarm clock that allows me to stop using my phone in the bedroom. This is not the solution, since you have to use the app to set your alarm and adjust what wind down audio you want. I suppose if I woke up at the same time every day (or even at a consistent time on specific days since it does allow you to program a different wake up time for each day) it would be less of an issue. As others have mentioned, I’m also not keen to start paying for their full audio library after the 6 month free trial. I wish I could integrate audio from my Insight Timer app which has higher quality mindfulness meditations from renowned teachers. I’m considering buying the Loftie because you can program it manually, or just a regular, old-fashioned manual alarm clock. If the app content were free or I could integrate other audio into my routine I might reconsider.

YIKES!!!. *edit Dec 19* Not even a month later and here we are again! The Hatch has frozen twice, no linking or resetting works. I have to unplug the device and wait for it to completely die in order to get it working properly again. The only good thing is that it remembers its programming and turns on when I set it up to. This is absolutely insane! I’m close to tossing it in the trash! ***** Where to even begin?!? I caved and bought this and transferred the cheap “fan like” sound machine to the new baby’s room. I’ve tried to like this, I have! The sound options are horrid! I’ve had to change the noise settings around because nothing is really like a fan. Currently set on dryer. Please change the color sliders to something else they are unpredictable and sometimes have a mind of their own. My current issue is the numerous times I’ve had to reset the hatch or re-link it to Bluetooth. Or the amount of times the app just freezes or doesn’t work when I am trying to adjust settings. Just horrible. Would never recommend this fancy sound machine. The only nice thing is turning it in via your phone. Otherwise stick to the cheap alternative.

I look forward to starting my day again :). *AN HONEST REVIEW FROM A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER* …BEST IMPULSIVE PURCHASE EVER! This alarm works wonders. Not only does it help with my sleep hygiene and winding myself down at night, it also (most importantly for me and my lifestyle) helps me to start my day off right. I’ve always stuck to the traditional blaring alarms and I didn’t realize it was the reason I woke up miserable every morning. Some people can tolerate using noise to wake up, I found that I am not one of those people. Even having my alarm be a song that I liked just didn’t work. I found that noise actually scared me out of my sleep and I woke up frightened. The Hatch Restore has completely changed how I wake up and by using this product I’ve learned what I need to start my day off right. The subtle, gradual light is so gentle that when I wake up it’s in a very natural way that my body can adjust easier to getting out of my sleepy state. The light tells my body that it’s morning time and the additional sound of the birds chirping makes me feel like they’re right outside of my window. It’s just a much happier way to wake up. Thank you Hatch for truly helping me to restore my sleep again and help me tackle my nightly struggles of winding down and my morning struggles of waking up. I feel like a whole new person ☀️

I like it but I’m disappointed.. I like it. It’s sleek, I love that you can adjust the sound and light, and pick colors and sounds. My favorite part is that it stays on of the power goes out. My son wakes up as soon as it turns off so I love that feature! I even love the app and and the fact that I can turn it on when I’m in town and he’s at home with my mom and I forget to turn it on. However, my only complaint and it’s a big one is the fact that there is no way to control it or turn it on with out WiFi. My wife is down right now for whatever reason and we’re waiting for the tech but it’s my sons bedtime and I can’t turn it on because we don’t have WiFi. At least have the option to touch the ring and the exact sound and light that you last used come back on. I’m a bit annoyed with this design, I feel like it was very dumb and not thought through. I’m disappointed because this thing is pricey and I can’t use it at all times, they’ve limited it. What happens when we’re on vacay and we don’t have WiFi? It won’t even connect to my hotspot. I’m upset with the impracticality of this device.

After Update...App is Garbage. I used to love this app & actually bought a Hatch for a good friend of mine, bragging about how it was “the best.” I’m embarrassed now. With this latest update, the font is small...tiny. It is aesthetically unappealing. Developers, please don’t reply and deflect by telling me that the font was “changed to be adaptive to your iPhone text size settings. In order to change this, go into your iPhone Settings > General > Accessibility > Larger Text, and change the size to your liking.” This is garbage considering the rest of my phone doesn’t have a minute font. It’s not my phone’s fault. Just like it still doesn’t make sense why we have to choose a device to connect to each time. If you’re so adaptive to our iPhones why does your “we've found that auto-connecting has been unreliable on certain platforms/devices, and we want to make sure all our users have the most reliable connection possible” excuse make any sense? The sliding bars seem to stick now as well, which is annoying when you are trying to get the thing running quickly. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, people are a bit upset with the update. Your app rating has gone DOWN. A developer response does not make good customer service. Fix the issues, stop deflecting and maybe you can get some better ratings.

Alarm Bug. I’ve really enjoyed my restore and the hatch app - however, recently, neither have been working that great. The restore itself continuously has issues connecting to my home wifi despite me not having this issue with any other devices. When I am finally able to connect my restore to the wifi, I am having a bug with setting an alarm. I bought the hatch restore because I needed an alarm clock, and that it the main function I use it for. Lately, whenever I try to set an alarm, it shows an error message. On the off chance that the alarm setting takes, if I adjust the alarm or try to turn it off, I get error messages for those changes. I’ve had to resort to unplugging my alarm in case it goes off in error when I am not home. I want to save my roommates from that racket. A fix for the alarm bug would be most appreciated - I’m not sure if the app developers have any say over the devices ability to connect to wifi.

Causing more hassle. In some regards I love the Hatch- I love that it has helped my toddler gain independence by providing a visual cue to transition times alone in his room. I love the idea of this product so much but the app to run it has made it more hassle than it may be worth. We purchased this after years of waiting but Ultimately I wish we’d gone another route. The time it takes to access the app and gain control of the device is so frustrating. I have to stand in a certain spot if I’m downstairs so the signal will connect and the load time is insane. We have recently been having a lot of early morning wake ups with our toddlers and unfortunately the Hatch hasn’t always helped. On many occasions where he is finally ‘sleeping in’ past his new normal wake up time I will go in to update the schedule in the clock which is irrelevant- it turns off at the old scheduled time. Once again my child has gotten woken up by the very thing that is supposed to be helping him get the rest he needs. It’s so frustrating to be putting so much hard work into helping his sleep get back on track to just have the flaws in this app undo it all by ignoring the changes I’ve made and shutting off the lights and sounds anyways.

Good product but misleading. The primary reason I bought this clock was for the sunset feature that was advertised. After purchasing and setting it up in the app, only then was it apparent that I needed to pay for a $50/year subscription to set up the “unwind” routine with the sunset feature. I’m currently using the free trial of the subscription and not sure what I’m going to do when it runs out. I find it shady and misleading that you have to pay MORE money on a yearly basis to access one of the most advertised features. I shouldn’t be made to feel like I’m having a second-rate experience because I don’t want to pay for a subscription. After buying an alarm clock this expensive, I should feel like I’m having a VIP experience. Anyone who bought the clock should have access to 100% of the features, period. It feels like their value is placed on getting the maximum profit out of the customer rather than ensuring the customer has the best experience possible. As long as they keep this subscription model, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone I know.

Downgrade?. So I bought the Hatch restore when I switched from night shift to day shift less than a year ago and LOVED my purchase. A few months after purchasing, one of the lights burnt out in my clock display so depending on the time it was hard to tell what the correct time actually was. Hatch customer service was phenomenal and sent me a brand new one which happened to be the “upgraded version.” I will say, I love that the new one has actual buttons now and I like that you can increase or decrease the clock display brightness. What I’m sincerely and most disappointed about is the choices in sounds. The old one has TONS of sounds and stories and all kinds of things to choose from. This new one literally has about 8 sounds for sleep and wake and about 15 stories/sounds for falling asleep. I even purchased the yearly membership thinking it would somehow open up so much more and got nothing. I’m extremely disappointed in this and almost want to just go back to my old one with the broken clock display and lack of buttons. Super bummed.

Great-when it actually works. My app and machine act up frequently and I will cover that in a minute- I wish at the next update that I could choose ANY of the sounds to play on loop all night. I can’t stand the three lullabies that play as sleep songs, they have weird irregularities in the rhythm that keep me awake. But my daughter and I love the acoustic campfire and it’s a shame that it stops after an hour max!! Also I wish the color changing options such as “glowing volcano” from the “time for bed” option were color options for favorites, sleep, etc. those colors are only available in “time for bed” and I don’t know why. Issues: several times a week, the machine just turns off in the middle of a program before the time is up. Or the light keeps working but the sound does not. And I have to unplug and reset, which is a real pain when I am holding my toddler to sleep and I want to be able to just use the app to control my machine.

Great OK to Wake Toddler Tool!. When switching our little guy over to his big boy bed, we knew we wanted to implement an “ok to wake” clock in his room. I ordered a different product first but the sound machine portion was awful and I had no intention of keeping his old sound machine along with a new clock that should have that feature. This was only $10 more than what I had originally ordered and with using the programming feature for bedtime each night we LOVE this! I will definitely be buying another one down the road when we have baby #2. My only wish is that there was an Apple Watch app as I constantly forget my phone when I go to grab him from his nap and I have to either run back down to my phone to switch the saved theme from a red light to a green light or try to hide how to touch the ring to change it once I go in there as I don’t want him interested enough to play with it (we only use the program feature for nighttime as his nap times vary so much each day). That would really be a game changer for us!!

Pretty impressed. This programmable night light/sound machine is pretty awesome! I love how many different variations you can choose from (the sounds, colors, brightness, etc). I like the fact I can change a setting on my phone from the next room without having to disturb baby (especially if they’re awake). I have it programmed to turn on at a certain time each night and off at a certain time in the morning. I removed one star because sometimes if I’m not home (and thus my phone is not home) that sometimes it doesn’t turn on at the programmed time. Not a huge issue as I just open the app and turn on, but still. That’s really my only gripe about the app/light. And I remember when I first purchased the light and got home. It was daylight hours and I put the light on the highest setting and I remember thinking that it didn’t seem very bright...I was wrong. I rarely use the light feature anymore as our baby sleeps better in the dark, but I used to use it on the dimmest setting and it was still plenty of light to see where I was going/doing during those late night feeds.

Does what it claims and pretty well. Overall I think the Hatch Rest 2nd gen itself performs exactly as promised, as does the app. There are just a couple little things for me that prevent it from having 5 stars, especially given the price. 1st, the ‘time for bed’ light settings have a bunch of options that cycle through multiple colors, but no option for just a single constant color. This causes lots of conversations and distractions in house house some nights making making bedtime harder. 2nd, this is clearly a speaker capable of playing some music and spoken word (since they offer a subscription service with story telling and other features). So why not just let the whole thing be a Bluetooth type speaker completely independent of the app? I understand other Hatch products can do so, and again it would be a nice feature give. The price point.

This was too expensive for what it does.. I love the Hatch rest with a few exceptions. For the price I feel like it’s should have also had the feature of bluetooth speaker so we can play music that we select from our phones, the sounds provided are very limited. Also I’m quite upset that now you came out with another product the Rest + which is a baby monitor as well, wish you could just add this to an updated so your existing devices can have this function too, but I suppose it’s a hardware issue not just software but I’m still feeling ripped off having payed 70$+ for this. I have no way to return my hatch now since it’s been 7moths in use to buy your new product which clearly is superior Do you offer some kind of trade in so I can update to your new device? Over all I do love he device and know that it will serve us well once baby is grown up enough to understand the colors. I suppose I can live without the monitor part but please if it’s possible add the feature to where we can play music through it, that would really make it worth the price.

Really great! Except…. After just under a week with this I do love the sleep routine and am already getting to sleep much faster. I love the soothing sounds and the wide variety of choices depending on what you like for your sleep routine. My only complaint is a big one, which is preventing me from giving it 5 stars. The sounds to wake you up are very limited, just a few choices. One of the main things I wanted out of this was to not only wake up gently with a light that gets brighter and brighter over time, but also to wake up gently with soft music that gets louder and louder over time. All of these channels with a huge variety of lovely music to choose from to customize your sleep routine—why can’t I choose from that music in my wake up sound too? The only alarm sound that even comes close is the meditative flute, the rest are kind of annoying like a regular alarm clock and not a whole lot different than what I can get on my smartphone alarm. Please add the music channels that are in the wind down and sleep sections of the sleep routine to the wake routine too! PLEASE!

Disappointing. The app “works” it just does it’s key functions poorly. The time it takes to open the app, find a device, open the device, and turn on the device is crazy. The fact it doesn’t auto connect to the only device I have is insane to me. I’ve read the responses about wanting people to be able to choose which one they connect to, but I can’t see anyone but a second one of these after using the app. Just even offer an option to auto connect to a specific device. The app has basically no iOS integrations either. No long press of the app icon to quickly turn on a device, no shortcuts integration, no widget capability, nothing. In the world of smart home tech, having something so completely isolated from shortcuts, the Home app, Alexa, google, or even ifttt should disqualify if from being considered connected. I honestly wish the device just came with a remote as that would function better than this app. If this wasn’t a gift I would have returned it in a heartbeat

Excellent. Love this product and the company. We have used the Hatch in my children's rooms for years and recently had an issue with one (it was 4 years old). Their customer service was polite, quick to answer, understanding, and thorough. They provided multiple troubleshooting options and even followed up a week after one email when I hadn't responded. Ultimately the hatch was unable to be fixed but they graciously sent me a new product. We have recommended the hatch to so many people - especially young moms who need just a bit of light for those MOTN feeds and diaper changes, but also for toddlers who need the wake to rise function. So now in addition to loving the actual products, we can certainly add our appreciation of the company and their customer service to that list. If you need a white noise machine (with other sound options too), nightlight, wake to rise light, or audio monitor, we cannot recommend the Hatch enough!

Wake Sounds are limited. I have terrible sleep issues and have been working of sleep training myself for a while. I was always recommended Hatch. So I took the plunge and spent the money. Here are my complaints: 1) None of the alarm sounds are good. (In my opinion- I have tried multiple different ones and they all leave me feeling frustrated in the morning. They are all bells or beeps, except “meditative flute”.) No options beyond those even with the premium subscription. 2) It is Bluetooth enabled but cannot be used as your own speaker. I cannot play anything on it. I seriously expect more from a 130 dollar product and subscription based app. There is no options to upload your own alarm sound? You can’t Bluetooth music from your phone?? These are changes that could transform the experience. This is what I would expect from a cheap alarm. Just disappointing. Two stars because I love the convenience of tapping and your whole bedtime routine just starts. But the price made me have higher expectations. Please consider expanding your library and features.

Many Features Cannot Be Used without Subscription. I’m writing this for two reasons. One is so anyone looking to buy one of their products knows what they’re getting into. Second reason is so the company can see this and know this is a shady business practice. I was gifted the Hatch Restore Personalized Sleep Solution for the holidays and it looks like a great product. After setting up the product up, I discovered I cannot use the wind down feature unless I pay $50 a year for the product. That’s 1/3 of the routine features I cannot use right off the bat. That might seem not like a lot, but there was no information about this on the product box and I wasn’t aware until setting the product up and it is unfair to force people to buy a product then surprise force them into paying to use it. I also cannot play sounds outside the two free routines. There’s an option to turn the light on outside the three routines, and the same goes for sounds, but when you try to use the sounds, all of them show the “subscribe to use” messaging. This is a shady practice to force people to pay an extra $50 a year on top of paying $130 for the product itself. If you’re going to spend your money on a product like this, take your money elsewhere.

Shoddy. I was so excited to try my new hatch product so I could have a better nights sleep. After setting up my Restore product in the app, I was unable to do anything else. Each time I clicked on the product to set an alarm and explore other features, the app would unexpectedly crash. I even reinstalled the app several times and still faced the same issue. Without the app the alarm clock is unusable. It seems pretty bad that this app is unable to do the bare minimum/ it’s sole purpose. I did reach out to the company but should expect an answer in the next few days. When the app was functioning the setup process seemed unnecessarily long (around 10 minutes). Not sure why connecting to WiFi/ Bluetooth should take 10 minutes. The graphic “how to use” video only seemed to explain the device rather than the capabilities of the app (which controls the entire device) and ultimately didn’t seem to capture the product as a whole. The app is also not particularly exciting to use or look at (but we’ll see if the app ever decides to function properly).

Unable to use app with hotel wifi. Unable to do anything with my new Hatch Restore. Had to return it. Can’t connect eith hotel wifi (even though my Roku has an option for connecting with hotel/dorm wifi). Upgraded my cell plan so that I could create wifi hotspot. That didn’t work either. Unable to sign into hotspot via Hatch app. Phone doesn’t recognize Restore as an available Bluetooth device. Terrible design. Should be able to use Restore without having to go through app. Update: Reply from developer was canned response directly from the company’s website. It wasn’t helpful now either. The point of my review was to say that users should be able to use Hatch app with shared hotel network. Not being able to is sn unnecessary roadblock to using the Restore device while traveling, which is the very situation in which I need help with my sleeping environment. I can log into and use my Roku on a shared hotel/dorm network. In fact, the Roku app specifically asks if that is the situation and provides steps for using the shsred hotel network.

Blown away by their customer service!. We have been using Hatch baby rest light for our son for awhile now and we love it. He is almost 3 and uses the white noise to sleep. He loves choosing the different colors with the app on our phone and seeing the light change. It never gets old for him! Great educational tool for learning different colors as well. We have a bed time program set up as well as a Wake up program. His light changes from yellow to green when it is 6:30, and it’s alright for him to get out of his room to start his day. This clock is great for that! Here is my reason for writing this review... last night the sound and light turned on at 7pm, our sleep program we have set up. A few minutes later the sound turned off but the light stayed on. Then a minute later the sound came back on. My husband got on the Hatch app to turn the program off and on to try and fix it. It seemed fine, so we put our son to bed like normal with no other issues. When I checked my email a few minutes later I had an email from Hatch support... they could tell that our light had a sound issue, because diagnostics are ran when we have the app open, and they offered to send us a new Hatch baby rest light for FREE! They said that we could even keep the one we have as well. I was blown away! Definitely the best customer service I have ever seen. We filled out our address and our new free light shipped today. Isn’t that awesome?! We definitely recommend this light!

Great idea but lacking a key feature. The hatch has truly improved nap time and sleep time for our toddler but one key thing the app is missing is the ability to change a program while it’s running. There are so many times that we want to extend a program or cut a program shorter for various reasons- child needs more sleep, child fell asleep too late and we want her sleeping longer, we need her awake for something we have to go do, etc. and when we try to change the program time in the app, the hatch just shuts off completely. The whole point of the app is to control remotely and yet, you can’t even make changes flexibly to fit your own needs. I know you can change it manually (so this works okay when you want to set the time to rise earlier), but it doesn’t work the other way around (when tired parents need an extra few minutes of sleep!!). If this is something that can be fixed in the app, my rating would definitely go up.

Love it. We love the light and the sounds that come with it. My daughter is staying in her room more often and easier than she used to. I just wish there were a few modifications. I would have loved to be able to upload stories or songs to it for her to listen to during her quite time (or nap time depending on the day.) I also wish there was a way to lock her out of changing the settings and playing with it. Lastly, I would love to be able to use it for emotional regulation. Everything about it is ultra soothing. It seems to calm her down very easily. I just wish that it had a pulsing kind of light that would help guide her in some deep breathing and would be able to use as a kind of time out light as well. For instance, the light would change colors or slowly dim with each pulse (breath) and she’d have to stay in time out until it shut off (3 min timer or so.) Maybe there are some of these features already, and I just haven’t found them. I’ve only had it for a few days, but it seems to be helping soo much already.

Clunky, not user friendly, much to be desired. For such an expensive alarm clock I was really disappointed to learn that I had to also pay for the app to even be able to use it. And on top of that the app leaves much to be desired and is not user friendly at all. There is not much that you can actually control on the clock itself… which is ironic considering this is a device that’s supposed to promote sleep health. I purchased the clock mainly to try and start sleeping with my phone in another room. But that’s not really possible considering you need the app to control the clock. The app is seriously lacking, especially for the cost. There are not as many sounds or options as there are on many of the free sleeping apps I also wish there was a way to change up the “sleep routine” without having to edit the entire routine which starts everything over. For example, sometimes I want to turn the sunrise feature off but keep the alarm or vs versa. That’s not really an option unless you go into the app and change the settings… who wants to do that at 5am?? Not me! The app and clock have really caused more frustration than anything. It’s a beautiful clock and I love the idea, but the execution has much room for improvement.

App is disappointing. Returning device. I really wanted to like the Hatch. It’s a gorgeous physically designed device. But the software is truly the weakest part of the experience. First of all, you can’t use the Hatch without paying a monthly fee. The meditations are fine, but if I’m paying a monthly fee, I would expect them to be higher quality and for them to rotate on the device automatically. You have to still go into the app and send a new one to your Hatch every time, which defeats the purpose of trying to wind down without your phone. Calm definitely has a better library that I turn to more often. There was also a bug where updates to the wind down got stuck and wiped out my morning alarm, so I didn’t wake up on time. Good thing I still had a backup alarm on my phone so I wasn’t late to my meetings! The setup of the routines is also very confusing. It seems like it’s trying to do too many things without a clear purpose. If you just want sleep sounds with lights, there are cheaper options without a monthly fee. If there’s a monthly fee involved, I would expect a better experience. I’m returning it

Love this app. I absolutely love this app and my hatch! The app is super easy to use. I’ve never had any issues with loading anything etc. I would love a larger variety in the sleep library but it does have a lot of great choices. I went from having to sleep with the tv on for a little light and noise and it taking minimum of an hour to fall asleep to falling asleep in 10 minutes of less with my hatch restore. I love the sunrise alarm settings and the simple layout of buttons on the device itself. I’m getting a deeper more restful night sleep every night and I couldn’t do it without this device. I love that you can put multiple different noises on throughout the night. It’s honestly so relaxing. I have never used a sound machine with my other kiddos and it has worked so well with my baby that’s still in our room. My only regret is not buying this device sooner! No other device compares!

Just ok. I received the Hatch+ as a baby shower gift. We have been using it every day for the past 12 weeks since my daughter was born. I have kept it on low in our room every night and like that I can easily turn it up from my phone if I need more light in the middle of the night. We've started using the sound machine function lately as it seems to help her stay asleep. The app is occasionally glitchy, but overall ok. Things that this device needs updating on to make it worth the money: 1. Please turn this into a Bluetooth speaker, or be able to upload your own songs or sounds to the app. This is a very expensive sound machine with the capacity to be extra awesome, but truly lacking. 2. The yellow, pink, and orange lights all turn red when you dim them, and don't go nearly as dim as the white light does. Warmer lights are better for your eyes at night but it doesn't make any sense that past a certain dimness, they all go red. Overall it's a neat product and the app has functioned well for me for the most part. However, I would not have spent money on this myself after using it, so I'm glad I got it as a gift. Hopefully will be able to use the okay to wake functions as my daughter gets older and maybe there will be updated to make it even more functional down the road.

Love my alarm, some serious drawbacks. I love my hatch alarm clock. I do best with a sunrise alarm, and this has a ton of wonderful light settings that I can pick from depending on my mood. I like the wind down bedtime features and white noise. There are some extremely pleasant sound options and it is all very easy to adjust and personalize. However I do not like how little options of white noise or meditation options there are to chose from if you don’t pay the $50 a year membership. A yearly membership at that price is unattainable and not entirely worth it for the cost of the alarm clock on top of that. I plan on using my alarm for the next 5-10+ years, giving that it still works. That turns my 130$ alarm clock into a 700$ alarm clock if I subscribe for the entire time I own it. That’s just too much. I would gladly pay $50 for a lifetime subscription but those seem to be few and far between in the age of subscriptions. My last complaint is that I wish that the light and the alarm noise would both gradually turn on at the same time. I love another app that I’ve used that has gentle wake ups that slowly increases the volume for your set amount of time. I usually wake up to my light before the alarm and I get confused that maybe my light is malfunctioning and it’s not time to wake up. If I had gentle sounds playing at the same time, I would understand in my groggy state that it is actually time to start waking up.

Love it!. We love it! Now I want one for our bedroom, the lights are very soft and ambient but can be used for a perfect personal side light at night without waking everyone up. The sound options are nice and the volume options are a great range as well. I just wish that the audio monitor has the ability to cancel out its own sound. If you are using the sound machine feature you can use the audio monitor simultaneously but it’s hard to hear your child until they get really loud, you may not hear them shuffling. The sound machine noise definitely takes over primarily but it kind of does the job if your not far from them and need at least something to listen in. My child is also under 6months so maybe the sound monitor will become more useful as he gets older, I just wouldn’t solely rely on it at night as your only monitor if you will be using the sound machine at the same time . Otherwise its great I love all the options and you can set timers and favorites still a great product and I think we will get use for many years out of it . 😊

Was a 5 Update Killed That. The latest update has made this go from 5 star product for me to a 3 star. Changing the volume and light levels are so irritating. Before you could adjust everything seamlessly, but now they have added haptic feedback which just randomly gets stuck and either won't increase or decrease on demand, or it skips where you want it to be. Also, the light dimmness use to allow me to lower it to a point where it was so dim you couldn't see it glowing throughout the room, but if you looked at it you saw the light. This was perfect for my child's room. Now it just goes from semi bright to dark, no in between. I know that level of light exists because it's still preset like that on my schedule, but you can't get to it when you adjust manually. On top of that they still haven't integrated a way where the app automatically connects to the device once the app is opened. For people who only own one and want to make quick adjustments, not waste precious seconds waiting for the app to load everything this is vital. If I'm honest with myself I would say I should have just stuck with using a cheaper sound machine instead of paying $50 for this device.

A purchase I do NOT regret!!. Since my daughter has been born, we have been trying to find good playlists or songs that can sooth her to sleep. We would always be fighting with our devices trying to get it to play when we needed it to and when to turn off or it would just cycle through “similar” songs which were no where near similar! Haha Without music or background noise at night, our little girl doesn’t sleep as deeply for long. We were told by another parent in store to buy it because it was a lifesaver. We’ve had the app and the device for a whole day and we’ve used it 3 times already. Seeing that my daughter does not go to sleep easily for her naps, I played the music in the background while nursing her and she just knocked out WITHOUT a fight! TWICE! Timers, color changing, dimming and brightening, song changing.... I will be a loyal customer for the future babies after what I have experienced today! Thank you for an amazing product!

My sleep saver. I struggle with sleep to a great extend. I would be awake for two days. Not by choice. I can’t calm my brain down and worry about everything. I have wanted to stay away from medication until it was no other choice. I made the decision to go for the hatch to try. You can always return it. This I won’t be though. I have a routine and I am sleeping soundly without medication! I also am able to wake up on time. This was something I struggled to do which caused me to be late to work often. Especially with Covid I went into a depression where the bed was my best friend. I always felt I needed more sleep. But now I wake up feeling rested and not frightened when the alarm clock goes off. This is the best thing to happen to me. I highly encourage everyone who needs a routine, who struggles with anxiety, who has a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep and even those who dread the morning alarm to just try the hatch. The worst thing that happens is you make a trip back to the store to return. But I am 99.9% sure you won’t need to.

Don’t waste your money on the restore. I have 2 rests for my kids, and was so excited to try the restore for myself. It’s advertised as having a programmable routine to help you fall asleep with a reading time, a wind down, bedtime, and sunrise wake up features. What they neglect to tell you before purchase is that to have access to the wInd down programs you need to pay an extra 5 dollars per month! This alarm clock was already over priced and then they limit one of four features unless you pay for a “premium” membership. I feel taken advantage of because the hatch website never mentions that you won’t have access to the full library of the wind down programs without paying more for a premium membership. It’s very deceitful in my opinion. I’d like to update my review based on the developers feedback. Yes we do have access to more than one. I don’t think I implied that we only had one but the response I received was word for word exactly the same response to another review with the same issue so I’m pretty sure they aren’t bothering to give individual responses. We have access to a whopping 2. Perhaps you should be a little more transparent in your marketing, and not spring an extra monthly fee on people without disclosing it before purchase. Would I keep this product if I had known before hand there would be a monthly fee? Maybe. But I don’t appreciate being tricked so it’s going back.

Easy to use but unreliable. I’ve been using the hatch app with my new Rest+ for about 3 days. The app is very easy to use and intuitive. I love the variety of sounds and colors available. I haven’t really used preset programs or timers yet but they are easy to set up. My biggest complaint is how unreliable the app is in connecting to the Rest+. Whenever I open the app on my iPhone 12 it takes awhile to connect. Often it can’t connect at all. It tells me to reset the device, but closing and reopening the app always fixes it. It’s also logged me out several times. It’s annoying when I’m trying to take care of my baby or listen to the audio monitor. I used the Annie app before and never had this connectivity issue. My husband also experiences these issues on his iPhone 7 but not as often. My other, minor complaints are with the audio monitor. It sounds very grainy, which may be due to the white noise. Also I wish it had an alert feature so we could leave it muted and it would turn on automatically when the baby cries (which is a feature of the Annie app).

Big bad changes. I have told so many people about this life changing device. I have been using the restore and it has sleep trained me out of insomnia. BUT. This new app refresh removes every single feature that helped me get there. I had previously set it up so I had an hour of reading light, then a half hour of soothing ocean waves to rock me to sleep, then white noise until my alarm and if I somehow woke midway through the night I could tap for a relaxation meditation to get back to sleep. Before bed I could quickly toggle which of my 3 different alarm times I needed. Now, none of that is possible. I have to settle for just the sleep and wake portions of a routine? And if I have two alarms set for weekdays, they’re either both on or both off unless I delete and reprogram them?? This is just a white noise machine with an alarm clock, you can get something comparable for way less- unless I sign up for their subscription plan, which still doesn’t bring back all the functionality. HUGELY DISAPPOINTING. Why would you mess with peoples sleep routines? Isn’t your entire objective to maintain one??

Incredibly useful but I have one gripe. I hate to give this less than 5 stars because my wife and I absolutely find this to be critical in our bedtime routine. So much so that we bought a 2nd one for sleeping the baby in another room of the house as well. However, in our use case, all we do is the washing machine sound and our “favorites” programmed in are all 5% sound increments with 0% light and we tap the ring to go up 5% at a time as baby gets sleepier and sleepier. In the app, each favorite is represented by a different color of the rainbow. Red-10% Orange 15% yellow 20% and so on (ROYGBV). The thing that is anooying to us, is that if you adjust volume or the light up or down in the app, the % number ops up and then disappears when you’re done adjusting. For….. I guess aesthetic reasons? Why don’t the numbers display all the time? This is also true for the favorites editing screen. If I’m setting up a favorite and I want 30% brightness and 43% sound, I’d like to just glance at the edit screen and see if it’s setup right. I see absolutely zero benefit in having that percentage read out “disappear”. Very odd app programming choice. If the app creators and users like it this way, why not create a “settings” page to toggle this on or off?

Updates Review: App update fixed previous complaint. Update: I wanted to update that I am again loving the app again. They now have an auto connect option that lets you default to the device you last connected to and bypasses the irritating additional screen a previous update added. I very much appreciate them addressing this issue. As my kiddo is getting older I’ve started using some of the ok to wake features and those are working great. I like how I can have multiple programs and try and nudge an extra 15 minutes of sleep out of her on the weekends. It doesn’t always work but that’s the kid not the device. After the recent update you now have to start at the “looking for devices” screen every time. I was already lukewarm on the device because it takes a bit to connect EVERY SINGLE TIME even if you just used the app a moment ago and accidentally closed it, but ultimately liked it for the range of sounds and my plan to use it as an “okay to wake” clock in the future. Their new + model is supposed to fix connection issue but that doesn’t help those of us with an existing model. Now their new update makes the user experience worse for existing customers. In the middle of the night, when you’re sleep deprived, now you have to take longer and click through an additional screen to access the app. I can’t recommend this to anybody if they don’t care about the user experience for existing customer.

A really good app. I like the hatch and app a lot! very happy that I purchased it and have recommend it to friends! I have two observations: 1. I would like the option to add to my morning routine the same way I can for the night time routine. I understand you can add a bunch of different morning alarms and have them set them back to back, but like why not streamline that the way it is for the night time? 2. I have the premium version so I have access to all sounds, I just don’t like them. I have the app Headspace and their “sleepcasts” the night time stories are far better! I understand the educational aspect of the hatch stories and I’m sure that is appreciated by some. However the soothing stories on Headspace have nothing to do with anything which makes it easier to just wander off into the scene that they set. I find stories like that to be easier to drift off to sleep with, 45mins ambient sound whispering/quiet narrators it’s perfect. I would love for hatch to expand their libraries, because this app and speaker are great I just need them to colab with Headspace or something because the stories are not that good.

Pretty good so far! *Updated 2020*. *Updated* You guys. This company is great. They really read reviews and listen to suggestions, and work diligently on improving their app and the device itself. I love the new sliders, which help me get the light as dim as possible at bedtime. The program feature has been amazing. My 2yo fully knows that he can’t get up until it’s “bluey-green or greeny-blue.” One thing I wish they would bring back: auto-connecting to the Hatch. I have to select my son’s hatch every time I open the app, but would love to skip that step. Old review: Just got my Hatch Baby Rest a couple days ago, and it has been a great addition to the nursery. My son loves the different color lights (and I love the "custom" color feature). The white noise sounds are very soothing. I haven't used the programming feature, but I'm sure that I'll be using that when he's a little older. My wish list for the next update: - fade out option for the timer! (The light and sound turn off abruptly, which is a bit jarring) - ability to name the touch ring favorite settings, and have them be in-app favorites as well (so I can pull up "Bedtime" or "Morning", etc.) - smoother volume adjust (this is mainly a Bluetooth issue--the slider in the app is nice, but the Hatch jumps to that volume instead of sliding into it) - option to use own audio for white noise maybe?

Best sound machine ever. I know you’re reading reviews because you wanna pick the right sound machine. Just go ahead and bite the bullet, buy this one!! Seriously. Do not buy any other sound machine, you will be disappointed (sincerely someone who bought a portable one that needs new batteries every single day) I ordered the hatch machine for my (9 month old) daughter as it was starting to get chilly and we couldn’t keep her fan on every night but she needed the noise. I wish I had bought this when she was a newborn! Not only is the app easy to use (with a wide variety of options!), the customer service is unmatched! I am in love with this sound machine! We love that we can preset her bedtime and it goes to the perfect sound and light combo we chose. She even crawls over to me when it comes on because she knows it’s bedtime! Overall amazing sound machine, amazing app, big fan of the company. 10/10 recommend!

Hatch Rest+ Gen 2 audio cutting out. Our Hatch Rest+ Gen 2 has for the most part been a game changer. We typically just use two presets (favorites). One to have consistent light and white noise at night when sleeping, and one that has the same volume level but a slightly brighter light for night time changes. Typically, we can cycle between the favorites with the volume staying on as to not wake the baby up with the audio fading in or out- only the light would go brighter or dimmer while audio stays the same consistent level all night. Until tonight. Suddenly, the audio not fades in and out between presets. No matter how much I’ve changed, deleted and re setup, reset the whole system- nothing changes it. Now every single time we switch the favorites between the two with identical audio settings, there is a drastic fade out for 2-3 seconds and then fade in for the EXACT same audio settings and volume. Incredibly disruptive for nighttime changes, and there seems to be to support to solve this issue. UPDATE: I contacted support and within an hour they updated the firmware remotely and fixed the issue! Very surprised at how fact and helpful they were!

Missing simple obvious features, but okay. Update 8/22: Hatch customer service did reach out and I was sent a replacement for my malfunctioning device, which was nice. They were very responsive and they have made some improvements to the “beacons” … but I still think it was a bad idea to completely replace schedules/routines. So, I’ve updated review to 4 stars. One missing star for frustrating app experience at times, missing schedules, and lack of progress bar when playing a timed sound or story. No ability to queue sounds. “After this story is done, play white noise” … that doesn’t exist, and it should. Original review: I meticulously set up schedules for each scenario: weekday bedtime, weekend bedtime, no school, sick days, etc. now with the latest update, those were all erased with something called “beacons”. Why the well-known word “schedules” was changed to “beacons” is beyond me, but that’s beside the point. I’ve been trying to figure out how the $&@) to just create a custom schedule (sorry, “beacon”) for like 15 minutes now and it seems like, nope! If you can, it’s entirely unintuitive. This is awful. Completely disrupts my children’s sleeping regimen. Also, I bought two of these hatch plus v2’s about 6 months ago one just died on me. So now I have a doorstop and a useless night light. Neat.

A quality sound machine with great potential!. I love your hatch baby rest sound machine! I wanted to provide some feedback regarding the app :). I love how simple the programming is and it is far superior to others on the market. That being said, I was wondering if you guys could work on integrating an option to play music from the users iphone and also an option to mix white noise with the music by having the volume for the noise separate from the volume of the music. My toddler currently uses a sound machine and in conjunction with that we play baby lullaby radio from a pandora app to add some light lulling music in the background. Even if you couldn’t add a button for users to add their own music, could you create a mixer button to mix the preset lullabies with noise? Another request is to add a button for customizing a cycle for the lights. I know their is a button to cycle through all of the lights, but it would be great to be able to customize a light color cycle for different occasions (ie a red, orange, yellow color cycle for sleeping). Thank you so much for the work you guys do and I look forward to seeing what updates you have in store for the future!

Great product, but sometimes Glitching. Great product. My number one helper. This is the first thing I use when I nap my baby. But the app is glitching with volume recent days. Example: You turned on hatch and it is working fine you put the volume 24 and you closed the app. Then later you want to change the volume up , you open the app and everything is ok it opens and you start changing the volume slowly like 25,26,27 up to 30. And you notice volume feels still same 24 ( even in the screen it shows 30) and like after second 2 or 3 the screen swipes right by itself, new screen shows the volume 30. And the volume turns up quickly so loud that it wakes up sleeping baby and he is scared and starts crying. And it happened several times. It has been like a month or more that this issue exists. I hope I could explain everything. Please take a look to this issue or bug. Other than this I LOVE it. Thank you for great work.

Love it!!!. I love it! This is the best!!! I can only recommend it 😍

Slow to load and massively oversized application. We have 2 units and it takes an age to switch between them, sometimes just completely timing out. Also, at 300MB, this is a massively oversized application compared to other apps

Login account????. Dear Hatch. Why do I need to create an account just to control my hatch product from my phone. Seems pointless and unnecessary along the hundreds of other accounts.

Worth the money. While I have only had hatch for a few months it has been the best investment in our parenting journey so far! I am in Australia so the only place I can get it is drtechlove and it wasn’t cheap, but I hope in the future as it becomes more popular and easy to access the price might go down!

Best purchase for my little one!. Couldn’t be happier

Works sporadically. I get kicked out of the app and prompted to login time and time again, often at the worst times. I.e. in the middle of the night when I need it the most. If I can’t rely on it then what’s the point of having it?!

Connection issues. Have had issues connecting to both my devices since the recent update. It continues to say that my devices are not connected and requires reconnection.

This WAS a great app - what happened?. We have 3 iPhones in our household and none of them automatically connect to the two hatches we have now. We have to keep resetting the app by touching the ring on top of each nest to re-connect the hatches. What gives?! It was great and now it doesn’t work when we need it to.

Constant glitches. There are constant glitches with the app. Being asked to do a firmware update every time I open the app, even though I’ve already gone through the update. Lots of lag when switching between favourite settings and gives me error message when trying to change and save settings so I can’t even customize right now. Also don’t understand why the Hatch Rest+ 2nd Gen doesn’t come with simple lullabies as the original hatch does. Seems like a big money grab for a subscription service for a device that’s supposed to be an upgraded version. Overall, not so happy with the app.

App won’t open in iOS 17. The app won’t make it past the splash screen on iPhone 14 pro max running iOS 17

Missing features. Explain to me why I can not stream music directly to Hatch from my phone? My baby loves to sometimes also listen to music. The thing for sure would have to ability to make use of airplay since it has a WiFi connection. It just a feature the developers should add. I don’t know what they are scared off. Maybe they are scared people will airplay other soundmachine sounds to it instead of buying a subscription. But honestly. If anything the feature to stream music would attract more people to buy the product… Anyways. Just my opinion.

No Unwind Without Subscription. When I purchased this 200$+ alarm clock I thought if you opted for the membership option you got a greater selection of sounds, didn't realize there were entire features unavailable without it, such as unwind which is a part of why I liked my Hatch so much in the beginning (during the free trial). Let's be honest, as great as it is, this alarm clock is already overpriced for what it is, so to have to pay an extra 50$+ a month just so I can listen to music before sleep with a light on feels like theft and disrespect for their customers.

Love the app .. would love a watch app too!. The app on my iPhone is great. It would be even better if they had a watch app as well for times when I forget my phone and I’m with the baby in the nursery. Would really help!!

Please get a watch app. Without it this is great but severely hampered utility while in the dark putting kiddo to sleep etc

Terrible app. The worst, most inconsistent app. The updates never fix it. I rely on the app the control the light on the device, before I enter my daughter’s room at night. The app often won’t open, won’t connect despite me being in the same room as the device. Currently I’m unable to even access the app? It randomly prompts me to login, and other times does not. I wish they had a better app to control what is otherwise a good device. I’m incredibly disappointed in the whole system, as a result. Would recommend something with an easier control or more reliable accompanying app.

Glitchy. Not sure but is quite glitchy. Then recommends solutions that don’t even match my rest + such as “unplug it and replug it and see if it will connect”.

Not ideal. Honestly, it gets the job done. Interface is dated and it’s super slow.. I don’t understand how they make you pay for extra sounds and features, it should be free as the clock itself was already over 200$. Make it make sense guys!

Few things I’d add. New to the product and like it so far. However, I wish I could save a timer to a favourite. I don’t go to bed at the same time every night and would love to be able to just tap it when I get into bed and not have to go into the app to set a timer each time. I also wish I could program it to go from one favourite to another after a certain length of time so that I when I tap it in the middle of the night I don’t accidentally have the bright light come on.

App does not work properly. All favorites were deleted after 1 month. App has like a glitch. When changing ligth or volume it goes back. App disconnect every time

Wish they had competition. Wish this hatch app had competition otherwise I would’ve switched over to get hope somewhere else. This is a basic app making you pay for basic subscriptions. Figure it out hatch

New update is brutal. They need to fix this ASAP! Since the last update my hatch has to be re-set up every single time I open it, it’s ridiculous.

No longer plays any sound after yesterday’s upgrade. Please fix your app! It was working great until the app upgrade. Hatch no longer plays any sound after yesterday’s upgrade

Erratic app. Schedule never consistent works sometimes and does not work most of the time

Please fix the app. It was great after the last update. It’s horrible now!! Please fix it.

The worst. This has been the worst experience. My Hatch app keeps signing me out, will stop working in the middle of the night (when I need it to work most!) and I’ve tried contacting Customer Service Help several times and gotten nowhere (“Did you reset the password?” Was the only email back I received). The device itself is fine, but without the app it’s a waste of money. If I could rate zero stars I would.

New App is awful. New app doesn't work nearly as well. Takes forever to make changes to the sound volume and lights. Automatically charged me for subscription when I had no idea I was even on a trial after I upgraded as I got a 2nd hatch for my 2nd child.

Worse with each update. I don’t know how but each update comes with increasingly bad issues. First it was unbounded space usage (why does this app need 3GB of space?). Next update gave me problems where I have to repeat actions and double check to make sure they went through (never had a problem before).

Horrible App. Never connects, extremely frustrating. Don’t waste your money.

Fundamentally broken. Can’t even enter an email address at start screen without an error. No loading state either or blocking multiple presses of button to repeat login request. Amateur hour

New update doesn’t work. Not working at all

This product was too expensive for the app to not work. The controls only control the hatch sometimes, it frequently can’t find my device, sometimes the app doesn’t make it past the initial startup logo screen no matter how many times I close and relaunch the app. I bought this product so I could control it from my phone and I can do that only some of the time. I need baby products to be reliable and this just isn’t at all reliable.

Love my Hatch but a bit disappointed with….. I bought my Hatch a few years back to help me get into a better sleep hygiene schedule. It definitely worked and I use it every night and love it. I was disappointed recently, though, to learn that because I do not have the most recent Restore 2 device, the membership I pay for annually doesn’t cover special sounds or upgraded sounds. They recently released the Gilmore Girls theme song on the app to add to your daily routine schedule, but when I went to go add it, it was nowhere to be found. I reached out on Instagram to ask if I was missing something and was told to DM them. When I did I was told it’s an exclusive sound for the Restore 2 and then they gave me a code to buy a new device!!! I don’t need or want a new device and if I’m paying for a membership like Restore 2 users, shouldn’t I get the same sound library? It shouldn’t matter if I don’t have the most recent device. I love my Hatch but this was very disappointing (and there hasn’t been many updated sounds on my membership which is getting frustrating there’s no new choices really for sounds to listen to).

Suddenly not working. Has worked perfectly for years and now suddenly after a 36 hour power outage it won’t let me see the device, asking me to sign in but failing. Looks like the app updated itself in this time, so assume new version is to blame? Very frustrating.

Old app was better. I’ve gotten nothing but disconnection ever since this app update sucks how they forces u to update. Simpler the better and honestly this new update has causes me too much problems

Latest update fail to connect. After the latest update none of our Hatch Rests will stay connected.

Loved it… but the last update caused problems. Since the latest update a few days ago, I have to reconnect my Hatch to the app every time I use it! It is a pain. Hopefully this can be fixed, because otherwise it’s 5 stars from me!

Good but one major feature is missing. Can you please build a feature where the app changes the volume slowly over a period of time? For example, decrease volume to 0 over the next 3 minutes. We have to do it manually right now. If we just turn it off, the baby wakes up from such a sudden change.

Requires account. App requires an account in order to use your Hatch device, even though there is should be no technical reason to require such a thing. Terrible user experience.

A bad app for a great product. We’ve used the Rest for both of our daughters for the past 2,5 years and we love it. But a constant pain as parents with young kiddos is how bad this app is. Every time you open the app it relaunches, even if it was open seconds ago. To make things worse, when you are in the device and your favorites thinking you are about to change the sound, the interface is lying to you. The app is actually still refreshing/loading in the background. There is no indication of this and you have to go back and relaunch the favorites. Only then you can actually change the sound. So many bugs. Also, the whole point of the dark interface is to maintain darkness in the room if you need to change the sound settings when the baby is trying to sleep, so it boggles my mind why the sounds, color and favorite menu is a bright color. There was a recent update and the main difference it there is a loading animation on launch. Okay cute… but that’s not enough. Hire someone to do an extensive audit and test the app. Your product is awesome and could be so so much better with a great app experience.

Can’t use app because multiple device users not allowed for Hatch Restore. For the price, multiple users in the same household should be allowed for the Hatch Restore. (And no, Hatch, I don’t want to share a password.) Returning and will not purchase this company’s products in future - pure money grab on their part.

5 stars!!. I know people say they can just use free apps for white noise but this is so much more!! Using the preset times to help keep your baby in a routine and using the light colours to help your toddler understand when it’s time to self play vs leave their room and start their day is totally worth the money! Highly recommend

Terrible. This app is terrible!!!!!! Takes forever to load and doesn’t even work properly.

Bugs after a update. So I love my hatch but hate the app. Since the update I change the brightness of the light and it will say that it’s off but it will still be on, and it won’t show that unless you shut down the app and open it back up. So when you’re trying to put down your baby independently but you don’t the light is still on it’s frustrating. Also sometimes the favourites don’t work and I also have to shut down the app again. Please fix bugs! I want to not be mad at this app.

New update. Hatch app can’t find either of my hatches after this latest update. I have to run the setup each time I open the app.

Terrible app. Terrible app.

V. By he c

Big culprit for interrupted naps. Not sure what the latest upgrade was or whatever, but my hatch will suddenly stop playing or turn down so low I can’t hear it, which wakes my baby wake up. Save yourself the money and just get a standard white noise machine that only you can control.

Last update was terrible. Never done a review before, love the product app did work well and new update is brutal. 12 clicks to get to the settings for the app. I counted. New update is brutal.

Waste of money very stressful. Terrible app never connects super frustrating

Too slow and glitchy. I really like the device but the app is the least smooth product for a mom who holds baby on one hand and try to sort the things with the other! The app is slow to load, it crashes, it doesn’t work right away and takes its time to transmit the data to the device! For the price I think the app is just a pure disappointment!

Glitchy App + app suggestion. The app is very glitchy. Sometimes it doesn’t even open up. Sometimes it wouldn’t even be able to detect the device. The app also needs a feature to gradually increase and decrease the volume between programs. Right now, it’s such a sudden change.

Can’t use manually. You pretty much need your phone to use this. This can be annoying if you’re using it for a toddlers room.

Disconnects from wifi daily. We love this product but it disconnects from our wifi daily, it’s so frustrating. We have two older models of the same product that have not disconnected in years but the newest one we purchased for our third child is not the same quality. Very frustrating that the product got worse for us with a newer model instead of better.

So slow to connect. This is a really simple app, but it takes FOREVER to connect to your machine. Way too long for how basic this app is.

Has basic functionality but QoL features missing. Great app for managing your hatch device, but it sends random notifications that I can’t clear. Additionally you can’t remove access to a hatch if someone gave you access. The person that granted you access must be the one to remove it.

App is making life with a baby harder, not easier. Please please please bring back auto connect!! For a product that is supposed to make your life easier, you have certainly made it at least 5x more difficult than before the update. It sounds silly, but when you open the app at least 10-12 times per day, and each time are made to wait to connect to the ONE device that I have before getting to turn on/off the sound machine or light, it becomes beyond frustrating. There are times that I need more light quickly in the nursery and are unable to do so with the hatch. I also don’t have the free hands to use the manual buttons on the bottom of the machine when juggling an infant. At least 50% of the time the app doesn’t find my device in the first place, and I have to exit out and re-enter before finding it. PLEASE fix the connecting issue!! It is enough to make me stop using the product.

Minor Inconveniences Are a Daily Hassle. First I will say that I love being able to schedule our baby’s nap times and bedtime so that the sound machine automatically turns on and I can just go in and lay him down. However, I agree with others that when I need to make adjustments the app seems “behind the times.” Too many steps to get to my baby’s programmed settings and sometimes those settings are very slow to load which allows time for my phone to become a distraction to my baby and impede the entire process of laying him down or keeping him asleep. Also if I change the programmed settings during one of his naps to extend the time the sound machine is running, the app doesn’t follow the new settings. So the sound machine turns off when I want my baby to keep sleeping and I have to open the app to turn it back on or my baby wakes up and the nap has to end. So many improvements needed to this app.

Last century’s technology, only worse!. My bedroom has thick concrete walls and no windows. I bought the Hatch clock because studies show that waking to “natural” light is better for your circadian rhythm, etc. The Hatch clock does this…when it works. Here’s the issue(s): Hatch could have just built a clock with an integrated light. Instead, they’ve over complicated a rudimentary device with technology and subscription services. Your clock needs WI-FI and connection to your smart phone in order to wake you up in the morning? Why? Why Hatch? How do I know this is a problem? Because one night, my Wi-Fi went out. Guess who was late the next morning? You know how stupid you sound rushing into a meeting, apologizing because your alarm clock disconnected from the internet? Issue 1.5: I’ve been signed out of the app. My alarm is going off as I write this. I can’t turn my alarm off. Now the app wants me to create a new account. While my alarm is singing to me. Solid work developers. Slow clap. Second issue: I realize that someone in your group desperately trying to prove the student loans for their online MBA are a good investment probably earned the team a pizza party for their wildly innovative “subscription service” idea. This is an alarm clock. It is already overpriced at $130 (!!!!). Count your money and walk away. 1/10. Do not recommend. Cut a hole in your wall. It’s cheaper and more effective.

Horrible new app version. The new version of this app doesn’t open directly to your device. Previously, when you would open the app, it would open directly to your device. Now, there is an extra step that requires you to select the device you want to control, even when you only have one device connected! Not only is this an extra step, but it lags and takes a while to load both the screen with available devices, and the devices you select. Additionally, the volume and brightness sliders are harder to control. Before, they were sliders and you could fully customize what you wanted. Now, there are preset levels on a slider bar and the dimmest level is much brighter than we have been using for nighttime. I contacted Hatch Baby regarding these two issues and they responded within a day. They informed me that the app team is working on a fix for the sliders, but they do not have an estimated release date. Unfortunately, in regards to the auto connect issue, they stated “We've found that auto-connecting has been unreliable on certain platforms/devices and we want to make sure our users have the most reliable connection possible.” So, it sounds like they removed this functionality and have no intentions of fixing it. Super frustrating for a brand whose mission was to make new parents life easier.

I thank everyone so I love how that we will work on the kids so. I just don’t need anything for a while I love you so much I love all you and your kids are going to have ggfhcg with us all over our house this year we have to look for it a bit but so we will have it done before you get here so we can come grab a couple things we have a lot more to help us to help for help or not so much love it all good things to get together for now but I’m still in a bad situation so I’m hoping we’ll see what time you want us there for us thanks love love and merry love to everyone and happy you doing this for us thanks love love to love you so sweet baby baby love and merry love to see ya again thank ya again and happy for everyone thank everyone so sorry I didn’t even bother with it but I’m so grateful I am

Thankful for my Hatch. I had my daughter a month ago. This means she’s still in my room sleeping beside my bed. At night instead of sleeping with the very bright tv or turning the light on to check on her, I use my Hatch. So helpful for this new mom, who wakes up constantly to check on the baby. Recently I have noticed she like to watch things too so I set my Hatch on the color changing mode & she’ll watch it until she goes to sleep & I watch her until she does. I have only one suggestion. The app needs a widget. Instead of having to open the app it would be nice to just have the widget for a quick turn on/off. The widget could consist of the top 3 favorites for easy access. As a parent simplifying things is always handy. M. Lane

Needs help but maybe it will get there. So many things I would change about this app. Overly complicated to set up, add a small amount of intuitive behaviors to it and already I’d be happier. Why can’t I add my own music in, the pickings are very very slim and alllll of your music has cellos in it, which is a very specific noise and to some, not soft enough to be able to drift to sleep. Meditation voices are very monotone, not comforting. Very limited selection all around for sounds. If I change a sleep step mid sleep sequence, it turns the whole thing off. Please put a USB port on the side of it. Why is there no sunset feature? Why can’t I wake up to my music or my news station? I feel like an alarm clock radio had more features than this. Please improve! The device is pretty, the light options are nice, but also confusing, why can’t I make my own sunset or sunrise with all the different light options. Have some preset routines to pick from.

Must add in registry. We love our hatch! We’ve had it for 2 weeks and we’ve been using it everyday since. You can set 6 different timers with or without sound, Vice versa. I barely touch the actual Hatch thanks to the app and favorites I can set. The app is user friendly. The sounds seem pretty realistic and therapeutic. It was gifted to us, and we initially planned to use it during midnight diaper changes for our newborn, but it has also come in handy for our toddlers. I’ve set the light to turn on at 8pm, in case my toddlers need something to grab in their room, I don’t need to walk up to turn the light on for them. It’s made my kids a lot more self-sufficient. We do travel often, so what would be more ideal for us is also having batteries (regular or rechargeable) and not always needing an outlet in order to use it. If it had that feature, then it would for sure be rated 5 stars.

Don’t undownload the app. I recently got a new Wi-Fi Router, I had to switch all my devices over so when I tried my hatch, it wouldn’t connect. I tried everything, literally everything. All the trouble shooting, changing my Wi-Fi settings, password. So of course I tried to delete the app, nope. So I tried to delete my account, still nope but it’s weird bc it says it’s connected to the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi app but I can’t use the app. After a while it will connect to the time but I still can’t use the app. Apparently, if you delete the app & redownload it, that causes problems which is ridiculous bc sometimes you have to delete an app & redownload it. Also if you delete your account it might do the same reason. They don’t want anyone reselling them which is kinda strange so now I have a 100+ dollar clock that doesn’t do anything but show me the time.

What the heck happened. I literally updated this a week ago and it has turned into a nightmare of an app. It is extremely slow, it’s randomly setting timers when I don’t even click to set one, when I go to turn up or down the sound it’s literally doing it’s own thing! I’ll have it at 50 and turning it up and it’ll suddenly go back to 40 something for example without me even touching it. Absolutely infuriating, especially during the week of the 4th! Let’s also not forget the fact that it has been having such connectivity issues, not recognizing my machine when I’m not that far away at all. Listen, I don’t know what the heck happened here but we’ve used this since 2021. I don’t know what y’all did but please fix this ASAP and please don’t tell us it’s because you’re getting rid of the Bluetooth ones and forcing us to buy the new. Don’t be like apple.

We love our Hatch and the Customer Service!!!!. We have been using our hatch for 5 months now and we absolutely love it! My little one cannot sleep without it, and I sleep better with it on too. It had some issues with sound and staying connected to the app and hatch recognized the problem and promptly sent us a new one! Talk about customer service!!!! The app is so easy to use and works pretty much flawlessly, minus the aforementioned issue that they corrected. My only request would be an option to add music. Currently we use a separate speaker to play soothing music along with the white noise to help our daughter sleep. I would love if some sort of sound layer was an option! I honestly have no complaints about the product and I highly recommend it!!!! Thank you for an amazing product!!! ~Desirae

Okay but need deeper sound options. I have a high maintenance baby, and white noise to help during the witching hour and her bedtime routine is a must. I bought the hatch because of the options for programming and the various light features. Unfortunately, I find myself returning to a white noise app using a small speaker because the sound options are so much better. Seems like the hatch sounds all sound a bit harsh and/or mechanical (the static sound is headache inducing, maybe something to do with the sound frequencies). Brown noise (on white noise apps) works best for my daughter—it’s a deep continuous sound that even helps me sleep. The dryer sound option on the hatch is the closest I can find, but I have to keep volume low because somethings not quite right. Maybe the designers need to revisit the sound programming, because the white noise options are “scratchy” sounding. Deeper sounds the encourage deep sleep would definitely help. Then I could recommend this item.

Love the hatch, the app drives me crazy.. There are two main bugs I see in the Hatch and, especially, in the Hatch app. First, I would love for there to be a noise option more similar to womb noise - not so high-pitched and electric as all of the sound options currently available. The water/waves and the static are not as warm and cozy as I would prefer (and as I think would be advantageous for our baby). My primary frustration about the app itself is how long it takes to load, to connect, and then to get off the screen that exclaims “Connected!” It has to go through this process each time you switch screens on your phone or open and close the app, and it is just slow enough to be irritating, especially when trying to navigate the app to calm an angry baby. This seems like it’d be a simple fix, but it would make this momma very grateful!

My Hatch. I got the Hatch Restore for my birthday because I am a college student with a diagnosed sleeping disorder. The restore helped me immensely, but when it stopped connecting to my wifi for a week I struggled so much with my sleeping disorder because it became a tool I relied on to help me. In less than a month of owning it I have never had so many issues with connection for a device (and I’m an engineering student). It’s so slow and although costumer service is so helpful in a timely manner, the tips they gave me to finally get it to connect were no where to be found on the FAQ. (The helpful instructions are listed below). I also noticed that the new version of the app (version 3.6) is supposed to have a color wheel feature to choose a specific color light but I can’t access it (I don’t have a membership because I am worried about investing money into a device that already glitches). Is this color wheel feature only with the membership? I can’t find this documented anywhere! Please try this hard reset on your Restore Unplug Restore Press and hold the Connect button with the two arrows on the bottom of your Restore Re-plug Restore Release the Connect button after 10 seconds Wait about 2 minutes for the Restore to reboot and try connecting again

I love it but…. Can I just start off by saying how much I love this sunset alarm clock. This is the best thing that I invested in by far this year. I don’t use this everyday. But when I do use it, I fall in love with it even more especially when I wake up to my sunset alarm that I have it set too. But the only thing that I don’t like about the app is that it doesn’t have a single day feature for the alarm. It would say “every Tuesday” or whateva day u choose to put. I I mean I might wanna use it every Tuesday and I might wanna have the same time set for it every Tuesday. This is just an example. But hopefully u get what I’m trying to say. So I hope u can change this in the app. But other then that I love the app. one thing I’ve been loving so far is the bedtime routine that u can set. ok that is all for now.

Can’t even set it up, returning in the morning. I was really excited about this alarm clock. But I’ve spent 40 minutes trying to connect it to wifi and no matter what I do I get the same error message. Our wifi is fully functional and high speed. No other devices are having issues. Our wifi doesn’t have any special characters that somehow don’t make it compatible with this app (which is a whole other topic). I held this thing progressively closer to the router, there is no way to bring it closer without fusing them as one. It’s absurd that a clock that costs $140 even needs wifi AND Bluetooth AND its own app to fully function but if you’re going to force me to go through all those steps after I pay you a ton of money the least you can do is give me a consistent experience. Money aside, this is such a waste of resources to make thousands of these just so they get thrown away or returned and discarded by people because they don’t work properly.

I'm done with Hatch. I previously reviewed this as basically good but limited, but now I'm having frequent problems with my alarm even going off at all. It got to where I had to use my phone as a backup alarm, which defeats the purpose of the Hatch. It's also disappointing that there's STILL hardly any content with the subscription I was paying for on top of the initial cost of the Hatch. When you're subscribing to a service, there's a reasonable expectation of continued content updates, not just access to the same handful of sounds forever. Anyway, I have replaced my Hatch with a significantly cheaper alarm that offers more features without a subscription fee. I can use it with my own content and customize it with an app that doesn't take 5 seconds to respond to every tap if it responds at all. These are pretty basic requirements, and I don't know why Hatch can't get it together.

2+ years of using hatch. Hatch is great in many ways but a few things make it drive me crazy. One : I go to turn the sound machine down and it goes back up to the noise level it was set at without my doing which scares the crap out of my babies (we have one in each room). This is SO frustrating. Two: the actual sliding part for the light and the sound is so sensitive and it can be frustrating to get it on the number you want sometimes. Three: it can take a bit to Open up which can be annoying Update - still when I turn the noise down, to wake my child (ren) almost always will it go back up all the way and startle my kids - the whole reason I like this is because I can wake them gradually and put light on slowly but half the time undoes what I do- why has no one fixed this in almost 3 years of my having three hatches - no change or Improvement

Best gift ever!. Let me start by saying I’m super cheap. So when I got this as a baby shower gift, I was elated. But I was also a little skeptical. Sometimes the “best products” are just that because they’re trendy or brand name. But this is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever received. The app is so easy to use and can be controlled from anywhere in my house so I can have it ready by the time I put the baby down, it’s got so many great functions and the sounds don’t sound artificial at all! I recommend this for every mama or dad to be or even if you just want a sound machine slash nightlight because even though you’re an adult, you’re still a little afraid of the dark…like me. 10 out of 10 recommend!

Not a Seamless App Experience. When you open this app, you are not automatically connected to your device controls. You have to “select a device.” For people with only one (which I assume is the majority of users) this is cumbersome and wastes precious seconds when trying to get a baby/child to sleep. The initial page itself takes forever to load and sometimes, my device isn’t even there, though I’m standing right next to it, and I have to close the app completely before I can get to it. Then once selected, it takes more time to load the actual controls to my device. This is a huge flaw. It makes me wish I had just purchased a cheaper device as this is not the seamless experience you would expect for a “high quality” product. There should be an option for users with only one device to be taken directly to that device for quicker/easier access.

New Library is Disappointing. I used to love my hatch clock, I bought it for the sunrise feature but fell in love with it for the added membership you could buy for access to the sounds/meditations Library. It was so extensive and I could find the perfect meditation that I needed on any given day. My clock broke and the new one I was sent only worked with a new library in the app and I hate it. The library is a fraction of what the old one was and most of the meditations are less than 10 minutes long vs the old library having options that were 45+ minutes long. I asked for access back to the old library (which still exists because my old hatch can still connect to it) but they told me I could not be connected to it on my new device. My advice: don’t waste your money on this app subscription.

Dissatisfied- updated. Update- support contacted me and we figured out the problem. It was part my fault typo error on original sent up email. So when it asked me to log in I ended up making new account with not typos. Happy with how quick emails were to fix the problem once they started! As of now I only use this as a night light looking forward to trying other features …….It has been a week of not being able to connect to the app I get a message that says I would get a email once resolved. I have submitted 2 messages in hope I get a reply that this is a problem on their end and I have not heard a thing! I would not recommend this product!! Get something else not happy this is not needed

Great product that just needs some adjustments.. I have had the rest hatch for a week and am a big fan of the night light portion. The sound machine is nice but could use some tweeting. I would like a few more pre-programmed sounds to be available. My son loves the frog/bog noises on his fisher price rock and play but no sound like that one is available on this app. We are trying to transition completely away from the rock and play but can’t completely because that is still his favorite noise to sleep to. I would also love be ability to play my own music that is on my phone through the rest. Another feature I would like to see added is the ability to cycle through a couple noises while in the bedtime program. Thanks for the consideration and for a neat night light/sound machine!

App update killed it.. I loved our Rest until they updated the app. I always used the app because using the buttons on the bottom of the machine was too cumbersome - especially in the dark. Since the update, it takes a long time to find the device, if it is even finds it at all. Not an issue we had pre-update. Next, when it does find the device, it will not connect. The loading wheel of death appears and i have to close the app, start over and hope that this time, it works. I used to be able to open the app and see my device right there. I’ve read responses from the team saying you were having connectivity issues for some customers and this was a better way to serve all.... take a survey guys, I’m pretty sure MOST Hatch users are having issues now. Please fix this app. I got this device to make my life easier, not to frustrate me.

Great product!. The Hatch Baby Rest was a god send for my wife and I. Our daughter was transitioning into her “big girl bed” and was struggling to understand staying in bed. My wife did some research and found Hatch Baby Rest, so we immediately bought it the next day. We began teaching our daughter about the colors and sounds to help her understand when it’s time to sleep and when it’s time to wake up. She caught on quick and we’ve had many nights of great sleep since! The only issue we’ve had is, recently, the unit’s sound seems to lower and then go back to the programmed setting at random times during the night. My wife reached out to their support and they responded very prompt and professionally. We were sent a new unit with a prepaid return label. All of this happened over the course of 3 days, which is fantastic customer service! One feature my wife and I would love to see added in the future is a backup battery of some sort. In the case of a power outage it would be great if the unit was not interrupted. Overall my wife and I love Hatch Baby Rest and have been recommending it to all of our friends. -Derek

Over promise, under deliver :(. I enjoy the light and the sunrise alarm but the app is not good. You have to pay for the premium version to get any content, without it there’s only a few soundscapes and a couple of very weak meditations. and without the app, it’s a REALLY expensive nightlight. The meditations are so weak that I’m hesitant to buy the premium version because I don’t feel confident they’re going to be any good. You would think that paying this much for the light / alarm itself would come with a few more options out of the box to motivate you to get more. There are so few options that i will likely return it (I do appreciate the 60 day return policy!). If the developers are reading this - please consider a “lite” version of the subscription. Something in between free and super premium - would be great for those of us that would like a little more than the weak offering out of the box but don’t need a full library of content at such a premium price.

Nothing but problems. The hatch restore has been terrible!! The app design is also cheap and difficult to navigate. Do not waste your money or time. I was excited to use it, paid for subscription service and just never worked. It is insanely difficult to connect if you have to switch WiFi source. So you can not travel with it. After changing the WiFi once it never worked again and could never connect to my home WiFi again. This company clearly dumps everything into marketing and nothing into the product. The clock feels light and cheaply made. The app is sloppy and difficult to manage. And you will waste hours of your life trying to get it connected. I don’t even think I would want another one if it was free, you can tell it is a piece of junk. I’d love for someone from Hatch to reach out and try to make this right but I highly doubt they will.

Some functionality could use improvement. I use the hatch app all the time with the device in my toddler’s room. I love the features it has, but wish for a few more. I would love to be able to reorder the favorites on the favorites list. As my child grows, our needs change (no longer need a midnight feeding setting, but now need a bedtime wind down setting, etc.), but in order to put a new favorite “in front of” an old one, I need to completely reset all of them. Also, I’d love to be able to save a setting as a “favorite” but not have it on the touch ring rotation so that I can easily choose it on my phone, but not have to cycle through it on the rotation. I asked customer service and they were quick to respond with a work around (save it and toggle it on and off every time you use it), which is okay, but not great.

Please update this one thing!. I love this sound machine, and am so happy that I purchased it. I love being able to change the light color to any color you could think of, and all of the other features it has. My daughter has come to love staring at it, while I feed her a bottle to sleep. I use the static tv noise with the blue light, and in the mornings, when I come in to get her, I just touch the ring on top once, and it changes to birds chirping, and an orange-yellow-y color. I draw back the curtain, and she has the biggest smile on her face every morning. It’s great. I JUST HAVE ONE REQUEST.. Please CHANGE THE WAY YOU ADJUST THE VOLUME FROM YHE APP! It’s WAYY too touchy. If I try to turn it up just a little higher from the couch, because I forgot when I laid her down, it will jump up 10-15% and scare the crap out of her! Because of this, I never use the app. Besides that, love it! Must buy! Or put on your registry!

Should have some free channels available. I’m a little disappointed at the limited amount of content for the Restore. I’m my home, we already had Philips hue lights installed and set up along with Google Nest assistants, so we have much of the functionality from Hatch already. However, I wanted something I could not control with voice and had more dedicated sleep/wake features. I feel that Channels make the biggest difference here. However, all channels content is behind a $50/year membership. I just cannot justify the price of the device plus the membership. Maybe this isn’t the device for me. Or maybe Hatch could add some more free content for device owners without having to subscribe to a membership. That, or make the membership less costly. As it is, I don’t think it’s worth the cost.

This thing is incredible. I was an insomniac before I bought this. No more! Best money I’ve ever spent. And the app is incredibly easy to use and self-explanatory. No need to read a long boring user manual to figure it out. I love how I can choose the brightness of the clock too, or even turn it off to prevent those anxiety provoking glances at the time overnight. I immediately bought the Hatch baby for my girls. I love how I can adjust the sound and light from my phone if needed so I don’t disturb their sleep. I will likely also buy this for my sister and mother in law and best friend. This is going to be my go to gift until everyone I love has it. This is a genius product. Finally a company that has some brains and understands humans. It’s almost too good to believe!

Issues before even utilizing the app.. This device was purchase for my baby and i am finally able to use it. Just when I go to set it up I’m told I can’t register. Only to receive an email telling me that they are backed up and will get to me I am sure whenever they feel like it. If this many issues are going on to the point you’re backed up I don’t need this product at all. So I now have a product that i can’t use and have to wait on their time to be able to use it. After paying the amount for this item you would think they would have it so you can easily set up and use automatically. It’s not like this is cable. I am not reading reviews stating you have to spend even more money to get your worth out of it. If that is true once I set up I will be returning the product to the store and advising everyone not to purchase. I know there is items that will give you more for less.

All day every day. When I first hit this I just had it playing the same sound all day…now that we’ve been using it for 3 + months ,I have a program set for every part of everyday. Some days I’m home and others I work. During louder parts of the afternoon it automatically will switch to louder setting. At night the light runs to softer light. The best part is that we don’t just have constant white noise, we can wake up to soft lullabies. Also… love the listen in monitor feature. It runs in the background on your phone even while in other apps that have sounds playback. It’s nice you can move it around the house with you through the day if need be. 10/10 recommend, every new parent needs one. Thanks hatch

The absolute worst app!!!. What happened?!? I wish I could give it 0 stars. I was such a huge fan of this nightlight when it was given to me at my baby shower back in 2018. I was telling all my mommy friends how it was one of my favorite baby products. But the app makes it beyond frustrating and I’m ready to toss it. The app either struggles to connect to my device, or kicks me off the main screen to change the color/volume the second I get in. We live in a busy neighborhood, so there are times I need to turn the volume up before it wakes up my son. Naturally, I don’t want to leave it on a high volume all night, but when I go to adjust it, I can’t. The most recent update did nothing to fix the issue. I just want the app to open to my connected device. I don’t have multiple devices to choose from, I don’t want to add a device, I don’t want to constantly connect my one device each time I open the app. Just keep it simple for the customers PLEASE!!!!

Started off very good, now I think I hate it?. Our original first gen rest was great, until it just randomly stopped working after less than a year. There’s no quick way to contact support so I went out and bought a new one which is a gen 2. Firstly, it was very difficult to setup while at a hotel and then was very confusing to reconnect to wifi at home and I work in IT. Secondly, I can’t create a nap routine for my 1 year old and have to instead manually turn on a setting each day. Lastly, I can’t preview or hear any sounds on the Rest for either the nighttime or morning beacons. It’s almost like the company went away from what made them successful in the first place and is now focused on making as much money as possible from subscriptions and extra sounds instead of providing a great product. Not sure if I will continue using them or recommend them to other parents.

Rediculous. Every time I use my Rest+ Hatch it asks me to update, which takes forever, so most of the time I skip but then have to remember to do it later otherwise it keeps asking. When I log in, which it also makes me do almost every time where I have to type in my email and password which is super annoying, and then it takes forever to load the screen and anything I click on on the home page. Sometimes it takes so long to load the sound I pick that I think it’s broken, and then I have to restart. Sometimes the sound adjustment doesn’t even work at all and it’s super annoying having to panic about waking up baby because it just so happened to malfunction when you forgot to turn the volume down before playing it. I’m ready to replace this with a clock because at this point I’m over the difficult technicality issues with this product because it takes up too much time to get it to work the clock was the only upside.

Was Great, Update is Rough. Loved this app until the latest update. They discontinued the autoconnect feature which doesn’t sound that bad in passing, but when you have a fussy baby you’re trying to calm down with white noise, those seconds (sometimes minutes when the app fails to load completely) count. Also, when I open the app now it takes significantly longer to load, adding to the slowness. It can take a long time to get to the screen where you actually turn on the Hatch, whereas it used to take about 5 seconds. I’ve also had to re-login a few times since the update. I really wish the developers would consider bringing autoconnect back it really does make a difference! The need for quickness isn’t an issue for everyone, I’m sure, but it’s been a level of annoying I wouldn’t have expected. I paid enough for this that I would hope for seamless operation, and seamless it is not.

Great Idea but Needs Some Improvements. I received the Hatch for Christmas and have used it regularly for several months. I really like the idea—the calm wake up routine is wonderful. However there are a few very minor improvements that could make this product and app so much better. First there needs to be a fade in and out feature. The transition from the Unwind routine to the Sleep routine is quite abrupt and when my Sleep routine ends in the middle of the night it just stops. I’ve actually been woken up several times because of how abruptly it stops. Secondly while there are more Unwind routines than I’ll ever get through I was disappointed with the lack of Sleep options. How about Wind in Trees or Crickets or Frogs or Dryer? There needs to be more development of the Sleep options.

Return if you don’t have good wifi. This is the most overpriced hunk of junk I have ever purchased. How in the name of all that is holy does it have 5 stars? It took me 30 minutes to set up because my wifi isn’t strong in the room I wanted it. If it told me that’s why I wasn’t able to connect to the dumb thing that wouldn’t be as big of a problem but it sat there for 10 minutes acting like it was setting the device up and then it told me to restart the device and try again. Which I did, and the same thing happened. So then I tried setting up in a room with better signal and there it finally worked. The app is SO SLOW, oh my god it’s like waiting for paint to dry. Tell me why changing a setting on your “favorites” takes like 30 seconds to save? I’m not a very patient person, I’ll admit that BUT this thing costs 70 bucks. For 70 bucks I should not have to wait longer than a blink of an eye just to change a setting. And not to mention they want to steal even MORE of your lunch money by pestering you about buying a membership for 5 dollars a month. 70 dollars is already insane but to charge 50 bucks a year additionally is completely ridiculous. Pros- the lighting is nice, and it does have great brown/white noise. In conclusion if you do not have high speed internet don’t even bother

Saved our sleep!. I absolutely love our Hatch! We bought it for our 2.5 year old and it has been so worth it! The ability to customize as many programs as we want is so helpful to keep him in his room and sleeping longer. No more 4am wake ups! I also love the timer setting. I can put him in time-out for a few minutes and he does not throw a fit. Just waits for the light/music to turn off and then he comes out calmer! Suggestions: I would love to see the range extended for my phone app. I have to be right outside the door for it to work. Also, an iWatch app would be amazing. I do not have my phone on me at all times, so the ability to adjust the settings on my watch would be so helpful!

High price for lack of features in app. With this being a $60 sound machine, I was expecting there to be many options of personalization within the app. The positive is that it is a good quality sound machine. There is plenty of variation in the types of sounds, lights and volume (we rarely have it all the way up since it’s such good quality with the volume range). Negative, the sounds don’t fade from one to the other. It sounds like it will when you’re testing it out, but when setting timers they just switch one directly to the other. I wish there was a fade option to that had as much variation in speed and frequency (in case you didn’t want to jolt your kid out of their beds). Secondly, you can’t even change the way time is within the app. We are a military family so a 24hr clock is preferred. Within the app, you’re unable to customize anything. The clock shows like a normal one just with 0s in front of it (ex. 0742pm).

We love our Hatch Baby Rest!. We bought the Hatch Baby Rest when our youngest of four was born 9 months ago. It has been the perfect sound machine/night light. We are so appreciative that both features are adjustable, and the ability to make the changes from our phones has been a game changer. We liked our first Hatch Baby Rest so much that we bought a couple more for our other kids’ rooms. With our older kids, we use the Rest as an “OK to Wake” and alarm clock, with white noise at night and a green light/birds chirping when it’s time to wake. I agree that it would be really nice to be able to play music from another source (who doesn’t like a dance party while getting ready for school?), but it is otherwise perfect!

App easy to use, missing 2 features. App is easy to use and customize favorites and schedules. Overall very happy. Two features I wish it had: 1) ability to name favorites- i use different favorites for day time naps, evening naps, and one for soothing an overwhelmed baby. It’s be nice to label them so when someone else needs to use it, they know which setting is which. 2) I also wish this had an Apple Watch component. Mainly to turn on/off, switch between favorites, and control the brightness and volume. If I leave my phone in another room and I’m holding a baby, I can control the hatch without disturbing the baby. Or if I need to change the settings while she’s crying I could. It’d be nice to be able to do that from my watch.

Missing Flexibility. I like it overall, but the one thing that frustrates me is the “programs” function. We have them set for one program to end at 7:00am and the next to start at 7:00am, so our kid wakes up to a change in light and noise. But sometimes, he’s sleeping hard and he needs the extra, so we want the first program to go beyond 7:00am. It’s easy enough to turn off the second program, but you can’t edit a program while it’s running. If I want to extend it to 7:30am, I would have had to do it the night before, before the program started. I’d love to see that changed so that I have the flexibility to make changes that will live update instead of having to wait for the program to end.

When you can connect it’s great. There are many great features and options on the app. Customer service is spectacular. However, the hardware is very touchy. You can never unplug it or god forbid the power go out because it will be the most frustrating time to get the hardware to connect to wifi again while you are trying to go to bed and this is supposed to help you relax. I want to throw this thing out the window every couple of months because it won’t reconnect. Just over and over says cannot find the device. I have no other problems connecting to my very expensive internet with other devices so they can’t continue to blame that as much as they have tried. The price of the product and the app are not worth it. You can find something cheaper that is less frustrating when you are trying to relax and go to sleep.

Frustrating!. We want to love our Hatch+ so much, but unfortunately it continuously drops WiFi after 1-2 days of use. After all the standard checks on the WiFi, app and unit. Power plug in. We have it changed by the company that sold it. Hoping above all that it works. It doesn’t. Same issue. Only fix for us is to reset it each 1-2 days, obviously that won’t do. The only answer online is that it doesn’t accept 5G WiFi. Please tell us this isn’t true. High end cox internet doesn’t offer 2.4ghz. Next Issue. Timer will work only if we have the unit turned off. Yet the webpage states if the unit is already turned on the timer will turn it off. - This isn’t the case for us. Last issue. This I’m hoping is a user error. We can’t delete no longer used Hatch’s off the main screen! Obviously with having to change out the hatch+ beforehand we have a dead hatch icon. I can’t find anywhere to delete it! For us. Giving it the weekend. If no luck. Back it goes and onto other brands that we don’t really want doing it’s job instead. Such a shame!

App is USELESS. I’ve never really left reviews before but I can’t help myself. We have 2 Rest+, one in each child’s room to use as the sound machine but also as the audio monitor. The addition of the audio monitor is why we purchased these in the first place. It does not matter what I do, this app refuses to let me use the audio monitor 85-90% of the time. I could be in my child’s room, I could be next to the router for the WiFi, it does not make a difference. I am constantly told by the app to ‘check my connection’. I have full WiFi on my phone when I open the app!! I don’t understand how this is even being sold as a usable audio monitor and how it is still so, so awful with SO MANY poor reviews regarding the app. It’s infuriating. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, I have reset my phone, I have moved rooms, I have done everything I can think of but it doesn’t matter because the issue is not on my end, it’s the app. Please make an app that actually works, or stop selling this product as an audio monitor when it doesn’t work.

LOVE the product, HATE the app. Our Hatch sound machine is our lifeline for getting our 13 month old to sleep. We have a small row home in the city so you can hear EVERYTHING from my son’s room. Enter, the Hatch. It’s incredible, he’s able to sleep even when we have guests over, the dog is barking, or it’s storming outside. However, I absolutely HATE the app and the fact that it requires Wifi. We constantly have issues with the app not loading, having to shut the device down to attempt to reconnect, the app logging us out randomly, having to uninstall and reinstall the app due to unknown errors, the list goes on. It’s become such a pain as of late that I’m actually looking at other sound machines that don’t require an app or wifi connection. When the Hatch works, it’s wonderful. The issue is that it’s unpredictable so I think we’d be better off with a product we can count on to work consistently.

Updated review - Not working. Update- I used the online customer service form and they are amazing. They could see that I’m having issues with my Hatch and are sending me an upgrade replacement for free. Hoping they’ve fixed the bugs, but really appreciate the quick response and I know they’ll stand behind the replacement too. I’ve had this for 2 months and loved it until it got glitchy. The sound was cutting in and out so I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. Now I can’t access it, I can’t sign in to the app and the Hatch won’t find the Wi-Fi. I contacted support and haven’t gotten any response. I have a very expensive paper weight now. Not happy.

No more phone in bedroom. Got this as an alarm clock that could wake me with nature sounds and sunlight. I don’t use the subscription and there’s still enough sounds to choose from. Keeps my phone out of my bedroom and now I have slowly worked up to reading for an hour every night. The automatic bedtime routine and white noise are great. The fact that I can automatically have the clock light turn off entirely is a huge bonus. I love the customization in the app, from every sound and light, to whether things happen on their own or at the tap of a finger. 9/10. One point taken off for the dumb logo on the front, but I’ll find some sugru or something to put over that.
