Hatch Sleep Comments & Reviews 2026

Clunky, not user friendly, much to be desired. For such an expensive alarm clock I was really disappointed to learn that I had to also pay for the app to even be able to use it. And on top of that the app leaves much to be desired and is not user friendly at all. There is not much that you can actually control on the clock itself… which is ironic considering this is a device that’s supposed to promote sleep health. I purchased the clock mainly to try and start sleeping with my phone in another room. But that’s not really possible considering you need the app to control the clock. The app is seriously lacking, especially for the cost. There are not as many sounds or options as there are on many of the free sleeping apps I also wish there was a way to change up the “sleep routine” without having to edit the entire routine which starts everything over. For example, sometimes I want to turn the sunrise feature off but keep the alarm or vs versa. That’s not really an option unless you go into the app and change the settings… who wants to do that at 5am?? Not me! The app and clock have really caused more frustration than anything. It’s a beautiful clock and I love the idea, but the execution has much room for improvement.

Great OK to Wake Toddler Tool!. When switching our little guy over to his big boy bed, we knew we wanted to implement an “ok to wake” clock in his room. I ordered a different product first but the sound machine portion was awful and I had no intention of keeping his old sound machine along with a new clock that should have that feature. This was only $10 more than what I had originally ordered and with using the programming feature for bedtime each night we LOVE this! I will definitely be buying another one down the road when we have baby #2. My only wish is that there was an Apple Watch app as I constantly forget my phone when I go to grab him from his nap and I have to either run back down to my phone to switch the saved theme from a red light to a green light or try to hide how to touch the ring to change it once I go in there as I don’t want him interested enough to play with it (we only use the program feature for nighttime as his nap times vary so much each day). That would really be a game changer for us!!

Missing simple obvious features, but okay. Update 8/22: Hatch customer service did reach out and I was sent a replacement for my malfunctioning device, which was nice. They were very responsive and they have made some improvements to the “beacons” … but I still think it was a bad idea to completely replace schedules/routines. So, I’ve updated review to 4 stars. One missing star for frustrating app experience at times, missing schedules, and lack of progress bar when playing a timed sound or story. No ability to queue sounds. “After this story is done, play white noise” … that doesn’t exist, and it should. Original review: I meticulously set up schedules for each scenario: weekday bedtime, weekend bedtime, no school, sick days, etc. now with the latest update, those were all erased with something called “beacons”. Why the well-known word “schedules” was changed to “beacons” is beyond me, but that’s beside the point. I’ve been trying to figure out how the $&@) to just create a custom schedule (sorry, “beacon”) for like 15 minutes now and it seems like, nope! If you can, it’s entirely unintuitive. This is awful. Completely disrupts my children’s sleeping regimen. Also, I bought two of these hatch plus v2’s about 6 months ago one just died on me. So now I have a doorstop and a useless night light. Neat.

Don’t waste your money on the restore. I have 2 rests for my kids, and was so excited to try the restore for myself. It’s advertised as having a programmable routine to help you fall asleep with a reading time, a wind down, bedtime, and sunrise wake up features. What they neglect to tell you before purchase is that to have access to the wInd down programs you need to pay an extra 5 dollars per month! This alarm clock was already over priced and then they limit one of four features unless you pay for a “premium” membership. I feel taken advantage of because the hatch website never mentions that you won’t have access to the full library of the wind down programs without paying more for a premium membership. It’s very deceitful in my opinion. I’d like to update my review based on the developers feedback. Yes we do have access to more than one. I don’t think I implied that we only had one but the response I received was word for word exactly the same response to another review with the same issue so I’m pretty sure they aren’t bothering to give individual responses. We have access to a whopping 2. Perhaps you should be a little more transparent in your marketing, and not spring an extra monthly fee on people without disclosing it before purchase. Would I keep this product if I had known before hand there would be a monthly fee? Maybe. But I don’t appreciate being tricked so it’s going back.

iOS UX "update" ruined the best functionality. Another highly irritated parent user here: The latest version update for the iOS app changed the UX in a way that ruins the entire experience, and with it, what could've been a 5-star review for what has otherwise served us for 18 months without a single issue. Not sure who you hired for your testing but they almost certainly are not exhausted parents in the night, accustomed to toggling the volume or light up or down to help their kid back to sleep, only to find in the middle of the night that suddenly the most useful feature has been removed for some ill advised reason. What were you thinking by removing the + and - buttons for changing the volume and light levels for the Hatch device currently being used. We relied heavily upon being able to toggle the volume up or down by single percentage points during our child's rest to help them settle get back to sleep...but now we can apparently only use a finger on the slider, which leads to tired fingers making drastic changes inadvertently. Can you PLEASE consider making that + and - option available again somehow? It was literally the one feature we relied upon the most. It's not enough to leave the Hatch ecosystem behind but it is a major factor in why we love and recommend it so much to others. We will be reconsidering that referral now sadly. Thank you for considering. Please take note.

Incredibly useful but I have one gripe. I hate to give this less than 5 stars because my wife and I absolutely find this to be critical in our bedtime routine. So much so that we bought a 2nd one for sleeping the baby in another room of the house as well. However, in our use case, all we do is the washing machine sound and our “favorites” programmed in are all 5% sound increments with 0% light and we tap the ring to go up 5% at a time as baby gets sleepier and sleepier. In the app, each favorite is represented by a different color of the rainbow. Red-10% Orange 15% yellow 20% and so on (ROYGBV). The thing that is anooying to us, is that if you adjust volume or the light up or down in the app, the % number ops up and then disappears when you’re done adjusting. For….. I guess aesthetic reasons? Why don’t the numbers display all the time? This is also true for the favorites editing screen. If I’m setting up a favorite and I want 30% brightness and 43% sound, I’d like to just glance at the edit screen and see if it’s setup right. I see absolutely zero benefit in having that percentage read out “disappear”. Very odd app programming choice. If the app creators and users like it this way, why not create a “settings” page to toggle this on or off?

A quality sound machine with great potential!. I love your hatch baby rest sound machine! I wanted to provide some feedback regarding the app :). I love how simple the programming is and it is far superior to others on the market. That being said, I was wondering if you guys could work on integrating an option to play music from the users iphone and also an option to mix white noise with the music by having the volume for the noise separate from the volume of the music. My toddler currently uses a sound machine and in conjunction with that we play baby lullaby radio from a pandora app to add some light lulling music in the background. Even if you couldn’t add a button for users to add their own music, could you create a mixer button to mix the preset lullabies with noise? Another request is to add a button for customizing a cycle for the lights. I know their is a button to cycle through all of the lights, but it would be great to be able to customize a light color cycle for different occasions (ie a red, orange, yellow color cycle for sleeping). Thank you so much for the work you guys do and I look forward to seeing what updates you have in store for the future!

Most painfully slow app I have ever used. I love the hatch product. It’s great. The app is beautiful. It is also the slowest app I’ve ever used. And despite the fact that the device is fully connected to you phone via Bluetooth THEY ABSOLUTELY CRIPPLE APP FUNCTIONALITY UNLESS YOURE CONNECTED TO WIFI. Why? I don’t know. Sadism perhaps? It is so incredibly slow to simply open the app. I kept thinking they’d fix this, yet in the two years we’ve had it, it’s only gotten worse. They’ve added so many features to the app yet done nothing to improve its basic user experience, which is ROTTEN. I am sitting in a hotel trying desperately to connect it to WiFi at 11pm because, for reasons I can’t fathom, they locked the ability to change a routine behind being connected to WiFi…so if I can’t some how get this device to connect to WiFi tonight, I will assuredly be testing this hatch into the sun when it wakes us all at 6:30am despite the fact we’re on vacation. I have tried connecting it to WiFi 6 times. It keeps failing. It won’t connect to the hotel WiFi because it requires a password, and it won’t connect to my phone WiFi, it simply keeps timing out on a screen that says connecting to WiFi can take up to five minutes. WHY IN THE YEAR 2026 is it taking five minutes to connect to WiFi?! NOT A SINGLE FEATURE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE APP UNTIL YOU FIX THE CRITICAL UX ISSUES. It is honestly appalling how crippled this app is despite how wonderful the product is.

Updates Review: App update fixed previous complaint. Update: I wanted to update that I am again loving the app again. They now have an auto connect option that lets you default to the device you last connected to and bypasses the irritating additional screen a previous update added. I very much appreciate them addressing this issue. As my kiddo is getting older I’ve started using some of the ok to wake features and those are working great. I like how I can have multiple programs and try and nudge an extra 15 minutes of sleep out of her on the weekends. It doesn’t always work but that’s the kid not the device. After the recent update you now have to start at the “looking for devices” screen every time. I was already lukewarm on the device because it takes a bit to connect EVERY SINGLE TIME even if you just used the app a moment ago and accidentally closed it, but ultimately liked it for the range of sounds and my plan to use it as an “okay to wake” clock in the future. Their new + model is supposed to fix connection issue but that doesn’t help those of us with an existing model. Now their new update makes the user experience worse for existing customers. In the middle of the night, when you’re sleep deprived, now you have to take longer and click through an additional screen to access the app. I can’t recommend this to anybody if they don’t care about the user experience for existing customer.

Overcomplicated App and device. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for an app but this is how unnecessary this app is for a “sound machine” that allows for “better sleep”. I bought a hatch Rest 2 for my newborn as it was inexpensive and most reviews said it was simplistic. Why do I have to pair the device to WiFi? Because it allows for app use? What is that? Why can’t I just connect to the device via Bluetooth and run it without WiFi? Why do I even have to have an app for the device to do it’s basic functions? And then I have to have 2.4GHz WiFi and if I have a 5GHz WiFi I have to contact customer service? That’s asinine. My device failed to register because of my WiFi so I clicked the link and it told me to restart my modem and if that failed it suggests I call my internet provider to reduce my WiFi from 5GHz to 2.4GHz? Why am I jumping through so many hoops just to use the device. I’m wholeheartedly believe most of the 5 star reviews are either fake or were encouraged by the company. Reading some of the critical reviews and seeing the developer responses and how condescending they respond leads me to believe that they think it’s user error and can’t admit their devices are overcomplicated and their app is buggy. I can’t wait to see the developers respond to this and see how they suggest I “fix” my issue but I doubt they’ll get to me in time as I plan on returning the device and buying a different brand.

It finally works! Thank you Hatch team. I have the first gen Hatch and have had a very positive experience with it. However we bought a second gen Hatch for our second child, and it’s been consistently unreliable. Although I have set and reset a schedule for the week, it shuts off every day. The only way to restart the schedule is to unplug the machine and manually restart the schedule. It’s so frustrating. What’s going on Hatch? I see all the other reviews here and on Reddit. I know my experience isn’t isolated. Unfortunately unless the second gen gets fixed ASAP, I strongly advise against purchasing this product. At this point we will probably just use our portable sound machine in place of the second gen. Also the second gen app interface is AWFUL. First gen had a great user interface, very easy. Now it’s difficult to navigate. Why Hatch? Why?? UPDATE: the issue still hasn’t resolved but Hatch customer service has been extra responsive, which I appreciate very much. We are on our way - hopefully - to getting our issue resolved. UPDATE 2: received the new Hatch second gen sent and shipped for free by Hatch customer service, and IT WORKS! None of the shutoff issues experienced before with our first second gen. Very grateful to the Hatch team for following up with me to make sure the issue was remedied.

App is not great. I love my hatch alarm clock but the app itself is not good at all. The interface is disorganized, it always disconnects from my hatch and says there’s no connection when my hatch still works, it won’t let me change my alarms and takes forever to load. The app needs a real facelift. This is like a year later I’m adding this…. I moved to a new city/ apartment building where I’ve had a lot of wifi issues. Once I got that figured out it took so long for my hatch to connect. After connecting to the wifi it would sporadically choose when it wanted to connect or not. Then for a few months I used it every night no issues. When I say use, I mean I went Into the app to change what time I woke up, etc. Now randomly, it feels like after I just started thinking about how I never have problems, I have problems again. I have a new job and set a new alarm, it will not let me set the new alarm and then it prompts to my hatch not being connected. I’m not sure what to do besides go through the motions every time to reconnect my hatch. I pay way too much through subscription every year and the hatch itself for this alarm clock not to be the best thing ever in the world. I still love it dearly but it’s such a pain most days.

More Issues Than Not. Previewing takes forever, changing routine (up, down, edit light) takes way too long to save. More often than not, I have issues if I ever want to make changes to my routines. It is NOT easy or quick. Tonight for instance, it lost connectivity in the middle. I had to restart the entire thing 3 times. It’s BEDTIME. That is the point of this, yet im up trying to fix it. There is no way to easily restart the device either besides unplugging. Overall, it works IF you never want to make changes. Again, once you start making changes be prepared to wait over 15-30 seconds per change to save then be ready to close and restart the app a ton because you just get the spinning wheel of doom. Plus, the updates and library are mid at best. I’m happy with what I stick to but you would think something like this that has a subscription would come out MONTHLY with new things and be better about advertising changes they make based on season (like now they have Fall Light Selections), I never got a notification or anything about anything new. You would have to just be exploring and come across that , which who in their right mind has time for? Only reason I know and was doing that tonight was because it wasn’t working…..

Good, but seems to struggle over time. This is actually 3.5 stars. I’ve been using our Hatch for white noise for my son while he sleeps for almost two years. At first, I didn’t love that you can’t control the volume manually on the Hatch itself, but over time, I’ve come to enjoy having the control on my phone. It’s very easy and user-friendly, and I like the updated aesthetic of the app, as well. I have a different brand of sound machine for my daughter in her room, and I don’t like it quite as well. However, lately the Hatch app has seemed glitchy more often than not. When I pull it up and click on my son’s device, sometimes it’s taking forever to load, and sometimes has trouble connecting to it at all, even when I’m standing right next to it and the WiFi connection is fine. EVERY time now that I click on our device on the app, I have to wait a number of seconds for it to essentially “catch up” or “refresh” before adjusting the light or sound. If I don’t, it’s like it doesn’t register and keeps the settings as I had them before. Seems like a bug that should be easy to address.

Many Features Cannot Be Used without Subscription. I’m writing this for two reasons. One is so anyone looking to buy one of their products knows what they’re getting into. Second reason is so the company can see this and know this is a shady business practice. I was gifted the Hatch Restore Personalized Sleep Solution for the holidays and it looks like a great product. After setting up the product up, I discovered I cannot use the wind down feature unless I pay $50 a year for the product. That’s 1/3 of the routine features I cannot use right off the bat. That might seem not like a lot, but there was no information about this on the product box and I wasn’t aware until setting the product up and it is unfair to force people to buy a product then surprise force them into paying to use it. I also cannot play sounds outside the two free routines. There’s an option to turn the light on outside the three routines, and the same goes for sounds, but when you try to use the sounds, all of them show the “subscribe to use” messaging. This is a shady practice to force people to pay an extra $50 a year on top of paying $130 for the product itself. If you’re going to spend your money on a product like this, take your money elsewhere.

Recent Updates Are worse and worse. Our first Hatch purchase as in 2021 for my son. It was great. The sound machine had a wide range of volume and the app controls were easy use and operate. Our second was born in late 2024 and got a new Hatch for her. There is a lot to like- the clock, you can set up different sounds for different scenarios (I.e. bedtime routine, sleep, etc.) and the touch to turn on feature is improved from the previous generation. That’s about where it stops. The new Hatch is SO QUIET. It’s such a difference from our old one. We had to buy a second sound machine to make up for lack of volume. The app is so confusing now- there are too many options and add ons. A recent update to the sound and color bars is hard to read and do not work well. Many times I will turn the light up manually and it won’t stay in the position I dragged it to, so I’m fumbling to do it two or three times. The loudness and brightness are not easily displayed. It’s confusing as a person who is alert and awake, and is even more confusing for a person who is sleep deprived. Since we got the newer generation of Hatch and the updated app, we have been more and more disappointed. You can no longer buy the old generation, and luckily we still have one for my son. I wish we could - it was far superior.

Bad Updates. Update 5/25: The functionality of being able to adjust the volume level 1 level at a time has been added back, but it is NOT intuitive. Why would it ever occur to a user to tap either end of a slider bar? Not sure why they’re so bent on sticking with this change when it does not improve functionality. It makes no sense. The old UI was fine. The new UI not only lacks the volume buttons, but the sliders are very small, and most of the screen is wasted dead space. They should revert to the old UI with all the feedback they’ve gotten and it’s reflective of the company that they are not truly listening to their customers. I will be looking for alternatives to Hatch next time we are in need of a noise machine and will not be purchasing Hatch products in the future. Original post: The app was ok before some recent updates, but now that they’ve removed the plus and minus signs for the volume control, turning it down slowly each night is a nightmare. The slider jumps around and makes it hard to adjust by increments of two let alone 1, and your thumb covers the volume you’re currently on. The latest update addressed the thumb covering the volume, but it’s still a disjointed experience and shows they do not know their customer base that they removed the volume buttons and have yet to add them back even after getting a lot of feedback. I have not been impressed with the app at all.

How much is your sleep worth?. It took me a year to finally pull the trigger on the hatch, and I did because I’m on a work schedule that has me waking at 2 am and asleep by 630 pm. I bought it for the alarm options, waking to light is so much better than being jolted awake (even by soothing alarms on my iPhone), I need as much “sunlight” as possible over the next year. I’ve used the hatch for about one month and I really like waking to light and chirping birds, it feels so gentle and natural. I absolutely love it. The evening routines are nice and I like how many options there are. I have a few recommendations/asks for the engineers and app developers. For the device, it’s slippery on the bottom. While it’s heavy enough for wood, my night table is mirrored and when I adjust using the volume/light buttons, the device slips away. I have to use two hands. This is annoying in the middle of the night. I wonder if the base of the device can be made with a rubber gasket to keep this from happening. For the app developers: Would it be possible to customize the morning routing like the evening by adding more steps instead of having to create another alarm? I would also absolutely LOVE for you to offer a thunderstorm option to run all night. I have used the CALM app for years and their thunderstorm is amazing. Another is, can you create nighttime yoga routines? All the yoga options are for morning. And finally, for the meditations and sleep stories, maybe I’m used to other meditation apps instructors/story tellers using a soothing voice, but I find the voices off putting and harsh not lilting and soothing, so if when recording, would it be possible to soften the voices and not be so harsh? I realize this is a silly request but it really makes a difference.

Great product when the app works. I absolutely love my hatch, but only when the app works. As someone who struggles waking up to any alarms, I decided to splurge and get a hatch after hearing so much about them! And i completely agree with the hype, except I 80% of the times that i’ve attempted to use it the past month have experienced technical difficulties. Before I moved to my current apartment a couple weeks ago, the hatch app would simply not recognize my wifi, & i went through all the steps given. Then i finally moved and got new wifi, which it connected to thankfully. But now I am experiencing the issue where the app will not process anything. I try to turn an alarm on, update an alarm, or simply do anything on the app, and it will stay on the loading screen then come up with an error. This is extremely frustrating because i spent so much money on something that keeps malfunctioning due to the app. I even tried to update the app and reset my hatch. I just wish the app would cooperate 100% of the time to make the price worth it (not to mention, i don’t even pay for the subscription on the app! i would be even more upset if i did!)

Causing more hassle. In some regards I love the Hatch- I love that it has helped my toddler gain independence by providing a visual cue to transition times alone in his room. I love the idea of this product so much but the app to run it has made it more hassle than it may be worth. We purchased this after years of waiting but Ultimately I wish we’d gone another route. The time it takes to access the app and gain control of the device is so frustrating. I have to stand in a certain spot if I’m downstairs so the signal will connect and the load time is insane. We have recently been having a lot of early morning wake ups with our toddlers and unfortunately the Hatch hasn’t always helped. On many occasions where he is finally ‘sleeping in’ past his new normal wake up time I will go in to update the schedule in the clock which is irrelevant- it turns off at the old scheduled time. Once again my child has gotten woken up by the very thing that is supposed to be helping him get the rest he needs. It’s so frustrating to be putting so much hard work into helping his sleep get back on track to just have the flaws in this app undo it all by ignoring the changes I’ve made and shutting off the lights and sounds anyways.

It would be higher rating if worked more often. I’ve been using the device for about a week and I can’t get it to work properly...I sent my “instant message” to the support team and the reply was that someone would respond in 48 hours. It’s frustrating because I have a terrible time sleeping and when this thing did work for it really helped me so I’d like to get it going again but if this is going to be an ongoing problem I’m just going to return it and cancel my monthly subscription to the app...I’m glad I didn’t pre pay for the year! This was what my message was, “My husband and kids bought me the Hatch Restore for Mother’s Day, I have been trying to use it for a week now and it’s been giving problems with randomly not connecting...it seems as if I’ve got it connected it’s says under my account settings that it’s connected however now I am not able to change any of my routine at all! It won’t even open! I tap on “Wendi’s Restore” which would normally open it so I can edit it and all it does open a blank screen with spinning icon and will go forever if I don’t stop it. I have tried restarting both the hatch restore, my phone, Re installing the hatch app, I can’t figure out how to delete my unit from account to to try to Re install it thinking that might be the answer but I’m ready to return this and buy a cheaper sleep machine! I’ve enrolled in the app for more sounds which I’d like a refund for because I can’t use it!” This is just the problem I can’t fix the rest of the issues I was able to fix on my own by resetting several times which is stressful at bed time!

App doesn’t work 1/2 the time. The app use to be great, it was easy to use and now it’s horrible. It glitches, won’t connect, plays the wrong story. The routines aren’t even routines. It’s one story followed by a white noise. Because kids are known for going to bed quickly. 🙄 I’ve waited months for them to fix it, and still having all the problems. Do not get the product, not worth it. I’m stuck using it because I’ve already invested hundreds into 3 hatch units. Again, do not buy. Your kid can go to sleep without a story. Update after company response: I have reached out to the company multiple times over the last few months with no changes being made. That’s why I wrote this review to warn others. I’ve been patient, I understand bugs happen and need time to be fixed. It has been months, with no messages saying “we’re working on a fix”. At times I wonder if anyone in the company has kids or even uses the product. It’s that bad. Just because people ask for a feature doesn’t mean the one way you implemented it was right. You got it wrong. Learn from the mistake and fix it. Read all the 1 star reviews around me. I’m not the only one saying this. I’ve told so many people to buy this product because it worked well. Now I’m going back to all of them encouraging them not to sign up for the subscription. Please fix your product.

Love the concept, flaws in delivery. I have had my hatch for a few years now (I have the first model for adults). Occasionally it glitches - the sound doesn’t work, or my alarm doesn’t go off. I attribute this to the age of my product. I pay for the hatch membership, and this is where I really take issue. I don’t want to wake up to a rave or a drag queen. I liked the Gilmore girls alarm, but it was taken off the app. There have not been any recent new additions to the alarm options. This is disappointing when you pay for a membership that is supposed to offer premium content. I love my hatch for building sleep hygiene habits and allowing me to not use my phone as an alarm, however I am disappointed in the app and the alarm options. Even the soundscapes are very repetitive - is there a way to create a longer loop of sound with unique content? I think for the amount charged for the membership, there could be some major improvements. I likely won’t stop using my hatch, but I wanted to leave an honest review from a long term customer who is feeling like the content is no longer meeting expectations for the cost charged.

love the hatch but PLEASE fix the app!!!. The app is the hatch restore’s downfall. In a nutshell, please allow people (especially subscribers) to use the hatch app without needing to connect to the device! I love my clock but despite advertising a “phone free” experience, I have spent way too much time wrestling with this app. First off, college students beware because there is no shot at connecting your hatch on campus/apartment wifi. There is a work around where you can set your routines using your phone’s hotspot but certain sounds only play if the hatch is actively connected which is not reliable. Another option is to set it up with your home wifi which I have done. I have strong wifi back home but it still often takes minutes to load anything (saving settings, deleting routines, even browsing the library). Maybe offer a bluetooth option for us sleep deprived students? Another thing: it is very disappointing to be completely locked out of the app when not connected to the hatch. It’s not realistic to purchase a travel router and carry your hatch with you wherever go. It would be nice if you could still open the app and play your routines from your phone when you are away from the device, especially for paying subscribers. Overall, the clock is great when it works but I cannot recommend it to anyone based on this app, please make some changes.

Please fix the app!. I could not hate this app more. I don’t want all the meditations and stuff and yet I have to scroll past them every morning and at night to access the controls. Plus the pop up asking me if I want to turn off the alarm in the morning. I don’t. I want to keep the light on as I get up and get ready in the morning but turn the sound off. But the problem is the sound slider doesn’t work most of the time. The app will show that the volume is turned off yet the device is still playing the sound like nothing changed. Then sometimes I’ve had to scroll past meditations about political stress. At night or first thing in the morning that’s the last thing you want to be reminded of. Please fix the app!!! Put the meditations somewhere you have to scroll to and the main controls should be the first thing that is readily available. This is such basic design. It’s so frustrating. This light is SO expensive for an app that doesn’t even work a lot of the time. UPDATE: the app just won't load now. Restarted my phone and that got it to at least load and say it couldn't find any device. Nothing has changed in my setup. Please fix the app!!! Update: I constantly have problems getting the app to load.

I look forward to starting my day again :). *AN HONEST REVIEW FROM A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER* …BEST IMPULSIVE PURCHASE EVER! This alarm works wonders. Not only does it help with my sleep hygiene and winding myself down at night, it also (most importantly for me and my lifestyle) helps me to start my day off right. I’ve always stuck to the traditional blaring alarms and I didn’t realize it was the reason I woke up miserable every morning. Some people can tolerate using noise to wake up, I found that I am not one of those people. Even having my alarm be a song that I liked just didn’t work. I found that noise actually scared me out of my sleep and I woke up frightened. The Hatch Restore has completely changed how I wake up and by using this product I’ve learned what I need to start my day off right. The subtle, gradual light is so gentle that when I wake up it’s in a very natural way that my body can adjust easier to getting out of my sleepy state. The light tells my body that it’s morning time and the additional sound of the birds chirping makes me feel like they’re right outside of my window. It’s just a much happier way to wake up. Thank you Hatch for truly helping me to restore my sleep again and help me tackle my nightly struggles of winding down and my morning struggles of waking up. I feel like a whole new person ☀️

The usability is so bad it is stunning. I have both a a first generation hatch and second generation with the app, and it is shocking how much harder the second generation controls are to use in the app as compared to the first. There is a reason that user experience and usability is a unique profession in app development, and it is so extraordinarily clear that they either hired the worst usability people on the planet for their second generation app, or they didn’t bother to hire any at all. For the second generation app, you developed an app that only the people who designed the app can easily use, but even as a “digital native” it is clunky, hard to find controls, and difficult to edit programs and save them. My parents were able to use the first generation app, but they cannot really use the second one. Go back to the first generation app. It was so easy to use! The reason so many people are willing to pay more for this White Noise machine versus other ones is for the use with the app. When you make that hard to use, you devalue your own product, to the point where I no longer recommend it to my friends who are expecting. Because while the second generation app is still technically usable, the downgrade in app usability is so shockingly huge, I don’t trust that the product will just get worse and worse, like so many other things tend to do these days.

Worst purchase ever. After becoming aware of what seemed to be an amazing product that will help with getting up in the mornings, and peaceful sleep at night, I had asked for the Hatch Restore 2. My father and his fiancé purchased exactly what I wanted December 15. While we are all aware of how hectic of a time it is for everyone, I was fine with waiting for the gift to come in late. Little did I know, it would take over a month to come in. Now that I have the physical product, i was only able to use it once. And that was the day after it arrived, January 17th. Since then, I have not been able to use the mobile app or the Restore 2 as there seems to be a connection issue. The website suggests bringing it closer to the WiFi router, unplugging the Restore 2 for three seconds and the plugging it back in, I have made sure that my WiFi is compatible with the device, and have completely run out of options. Meanwhile, I have purchased Hatch+ so not only have I gotten no use out of it, but I am unable to use my services that I am paying for. And Prior to that, my dad and his fiancé purchased the Hatch+ as part of my gift and were charged twice for the hatch+ without even having the physical product as it arrived a month late. When trying to speak with someone for assistance, both myself and my dad have experienced awful customer support, they say they will get back to you within 1-2 days however I’ve now been waiting almost 4. I purchased this product as a way to treat myself and assure that I am receiving proper relaxation before bed and when I wake up, and this product along with the companies false promises and lack of customer satisfaction has made me regret even supporting who they say they are as a company.

Pretty disappointed. Starting off I need help waking up, not falling asleep. I’m amazed how great the unwinding and sleep feature are but astounded how horrible the wake up ones are. All I wanted was to have the light wake me up with some brown noise playing during the sunrise feature or slightly before… you can’t! It’s locked behind the sleeping/unwinding feature! How can you focus so much on a sleep schedule you forgot the most important part of an alarm clock, to wake up! Why so limited? I would love to wake up to (good) meditation music too but the few selection for waking up are horrible! Most of the audio options are just plain cringy or bad, with only a handful of good ones ( which I can’t use because it’s locked behind the sleeping option). Lastly the subscription service… just no, as I said most of the audio options are dreadful coming out of your static sounding speakers ( $170 for bad speakers, come on!), I’d rather just buy what I want and avoid any subscriptions ( needless to say I cancelled my free trail right away, which you guys made difficult). The only things I really liked was setting my alarm through the app and that it shines a light in my face ,besides that the app locking me out of features, limiting things I wanted to do AND could do if the app was better designed is madding. Booo!! Big boooo!

Overrated. I don’t often take time to write reviews, but I had to share how annoying it is to spend over 100$ on an alarm clock and then be tricked into having to pay for a subscription on top of it! You don’t “have” to pay for a subscription, however the choices for sounds and wakeup options are SEVERELY limited if you don’t! I am a very deep sleeper and I really struggle with getting up in the morning. I was trying to find something to help me ease into the wake up process, not jolt me out of bed too aggressively, but still be loud enough to get me up on time. Hence buying a super expensive alarm clock. I did the free trial for a week after purchase, then cancelled it after the trial was over to just use the free included options. I was eventually forced to pay for it again due to the lack of good alarm sounds to wake me up. That was the whole point of purchasing this expensive alarm clock! I just feel like this was such a rip off. Even still when I’m paying for the subscription I don’t feel like the options are all that great. You would think there would be tons more, but there really isn’t. Also, a LARGE majority of them are Trans-centered alarms, which is fine … happy you’re happy to be you and all, but there should still be plenty of options that are NOT trans related as well, if waking up to a drag queen yelling “get it girl” isn’t your thing… and there is NOT! Im not happy with my purchase overall

Needs better features in app. I really like the concept of this app and you can tell they are really trying to do something cool here, but—man—I could really use a better way to search and organize my favorite sounds. Let me make a saved favorites list. Let me sort it by function. Let me make my own shuffle playlist, like come on. Let me at least see all of the available sounds in one place because the way it’s sorted currently, there are some I can see in the list of a shuffle but I can’t select the sound on its own. The search function is useless unless you know exactly the title you are looking for. The categories are cute but functionally messy. For how much customization they try to provide you, they also hinder you with frustrating limitations. Also, there is a much more diversity in the unwind routine sounds/options than there are in alarms which is also a little annoying because alarms are pretty much the main reason you want an alarm clock. The wind down routines are very cool in concept but more often than not, they are wasted because in order to take advantage of them, you have to already be good about keeping a bedtime routine. But they are there to help you build a bedtime routine so it kind of defeats its own purpose? I would honestly love this clock if they fixed even half of these things with its app. The look, sound, light, and physical clock functions are so nice, but the app is just lacking in functionality despite its many features.

Support is slow.. The support from Hatch has been terrible. We loved this device for 2.5 years with no issues. After a recent update, my wife’s phone can no longer connect to the Hatch+ and now I have also been disconnected from the device. There is no way to reach the Hatch support team in real time and they take forever to respond to their tickets. They reached out and said this issue occurs when the Hatch is second hand. We are the original owners however and received this as a gift at a baby shower over 3 years ago. We do not have the receipt still but they are demanding it as proof of purchase. Basically made the device useless. Update: turns out we had somehow logged into an account that the app wasn’t registered to. Once we logged into the appropriate account, the issue was resolved. This was frustrating however because support was so slow to respond and this must have been a change pushed through in a recent update. I don’t support companies putting restrictions on devices that make it difficult to use second hand. It is profit grabbing and corporate greed at its finest. If you are going to make several of the features blocked behind a subscription and then make it difficult to use second hand, at least have a decent support team that I can call and get my issues resolved in real time.

Pretty Good Overall Minus The Loading Times. I’ve only been using this for a couple of days and my immediate criticism is the loading time. It starts as soon as you open the app and once that finally loads you have your list of devices but god forbid you need to access one quickly to update something and you aren’t in the room with it to use the buttons. The connect time on top of the initial app loading time seems unnecessary. Not sure what the solution on the app side would be but I don’t believe it should take so long to load at least the initial list of devices. I also lost WiFi for a day and it was great that I didn’t need it for the rest gen 2 but now that I have WiFi back I have to reconnect the WiFi all over again even though nothing changed. And of course I need to be in the room with the device to do that since the Bluetooth seems to have a very limited range. All this ranting to say I would still recommend the rest gen 2 as you don’t have to have the app up and running to use it once initial set up. And I love that it still has physical buttons and a way to turn it on and off without the app once it’s set up. That portion of the product is AWESOME. I just wish loading time didn’t take so long.

Was a 5 Update Killed That. The latest update has made this go from 5 star product for me to a 3 star. Changing the volume and light levels are so irritating. Before you could adjust everything seamlessly, but now they have added haptic feedback which just randomly gets stuck and either won't increase or decrease on demand, or it skips where you want it to be. Also, the light dimmness use to allow me to lower it to a point where it was so dim you couldn't see it glowing throughout the room, but if you looked at it you saw the light. This was perfect for my child's room. Now it just goes from semi bright to dark, no in between. I know that level of light exists because it's still preset like that on my schedule, but you can't get to it when you adjust manually. On top of that they still haven't integrated a way where the app automatically connects to the device once the app is opened. For people who only own one and want to make quick adjustments, not waste precious seconds waiting for the app to load everything this is vital. If I'm honest with myself I would say I should have just stuck with using a cheaper sound machine instead of paying $50 for this device.

App needs a major revamp. Hatch is frustrating. This is an expensive product with an expensive subscription that’s meant to help you relax, but does not do so. The new layout is impossible to utilize. If you want to move or edit your current routine, you have to click on three tiny dots on the far left side, but it just sets the clock off and starts playing that specific part of the routine instead of allowing you to edit it. Major issue & needs to be updated. Idk what the developers were thinking. Furthermore, there’s a serious lack of quality meditations and programs. The people they host on Hatch know zero to nothing about meditation, relaxation, inner peace, or soothing the nervous system. They pay no attention to the tone or volume of their voice, they introduce themselves and provide a sales pitch at the beginning of every session, and there’s waaaaaay too much wanna-be modern/genz/annoying stuff on there that doesn’t actually relax you, which is the point of paying $200 for a clock and $50+ for a yearly subscription). The only good update they’ve done is to add a lady to the evening routine who does nervous system resets but there’s nothing like that for the morning routine (only a lady named Britt who is too loud, quick, and far from relaxing in my opinion). Lastly, I wasn’t able to even connect my hatch device because there was a forward slash in my wifi password. So I had to change my wifi password and reconnect all my home devices, just so my hatch can work.

Great and customer service on point. I’ve been using hatch for years now and love it. Definitely helps me wake up earlier as I always found it hard to wake up early when my room is pitch black, having the light gave me a little more motivation to get up. If you want a sunrise type alarm this is perfect the free version of the app does everything you want it to with the paid features just being some extra things if you want them but aren’t crucial. Lastly the customer service is awesome. I work shift work so I couldn’t just set my alarm to repeat on certain days as when I’m not home it would be waking up my girlfriend, so I submitted a suggestion to allow your alarms that don’t repeat to stay in your list after they go off this way you can just toggle them on with your prefers setting already there. I didn’t think it would be added just because it was one small request from a customer. I got the typical nice response from the company saying thanks for the suggestion and didn’t expect it to go farther than that. However, in an around a month that feature was in the app.

Just ok. I received the Hatch+ as a baby shower gift. We have been using it every day for the past 12 weeks since my daughter was born. I have kept it on low in our room every night and like that I can easily turn it up from my phone if I need more light in the middle of the night. We've started using the sound machine function lately as it seems to help her stay asleep. The app is occasionally glitchy, but overall ok. Things that this device needs updating on to make it worth the money: 1. Please turn this into a Bluetooth speaker, or be able to upload your own songs or sounds to the app. This is a very expensive sound machine with the capacity to be extra awesome, but truly lacking. 2. The yellow, pink, and orange lights all turn red when you dim them, and don't go nearly as dim as the white light does. Warmer lights are better for your eyes at night but it doesn't make any sense that past a certain dimness, they all go red. Overall it's a neat product and the app has functioned well for me for the most part. However, I would not have spent money on this myself after using it, so I'm glad I got it as a gift. Hopefully will be able to use the okay to wake functions as my daughter gets older and maybe there will be updated to make it even more functional down the road.

After Update...App is Garbage. I used to love this app & actually bought a Hatch for a good friend of mine, bragging about how it was “the best.” I’m embarrassed now. With this latest update, the font is small...tiny. It is aesthetically unappealing. Developers, please don’t reply and deflect by telling me that the font was “changed to be adaptive to your iPhone text size settings. In order to change this, go into your iPhone Settings > General > Accessibility > Larger Text, and change the size to your liking.” This is garbage considering the rest of my phone doesn’t have a minute font. It’s not my phone’s fault. Just like it still doesn’t make sense why we have to choose a device to connect to each time. If you’re so adaptive to our iPhones why does your “we've found that auto-connecting has been unreliable on certain platforms/devices, and we want to make sure all our users have the most reliable connection possible” excuse make any sense? The sliding bars seem to stick now as well, which is annoying when you are trying to get the thing running quickly. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, people are a bit upset with the update. Your app rating has gone DOWN. A developer response does not make good customer service. Fix the issues, stop deflecting and maybe you can get some better ratings.

Like, what.. I love the thought of this whole device and app, but if only IT WORKED. First off, in order to use the device you HAVE to be connected to secure WiFi. I was in a situation with my newborn where we lived in a hotel for a short period in the beginning. As many know, hotels have free WiFi, using a password within but looks “unlocked”. Using this device is not possible as they demand secure WiFi. When i finally got out of the hotel i was excited to actually use this since id be on secure wifi now, well… i have yet to have it work properly for more than 24 hours. I set up the app and took the needed steps, at first it worked. I set up the touch ring settings with specific colors and sounds. ONE setting only works, the non sound one where I tap once. I tap more for my other ones and it changes.. then turns off right away. Then I’ve tried turning it on from my phone, turns on..then off right away. Like 1 second later. We have tried trouble shooting left and right. Resetting my phone, updating the app, deleting and reinstalling, unplugging the device for a few minutes then back on, changing WiFi’s. It all ends in it just randomly turning off. (No I have no settings that have a timer for 1 second, they’re all set for at least 30 minutes). So, either this thing is hyper sensitive and it just needs a specific thing to work, or I have a defective one and idk if I want another one. (Also the app is kinda not easy to look at in my opinion).

Glitchy and Unfair. I’ve had the Hatch Restore and 2 Hatch Rests for the past few years and I’m just over this company. For the hatch rests, they are constantly glitchy and disconnect from the internet. I’ve done all of the troubleshooting and I’ve had these with multiple internet routers, so it’s definitely a connectivity issue on Hatch’s end. It’s extremely frustrating that I pay for a subscription, but there’s no ability to play any of the hatch+ music/soundscapes on repeat all night. They used to have this feature, but for some reason took it away. So if your baby likes to listen to soothing womb sounds, you have to schedule it to play every hour of the night, but it will change instruments each hour. After 1.5 years of use, my son’s rest does not charge on the base anymore. For the hatch restore, I have the second model. They have made a third model since I’ve bought it and for some reason, hatch will not put the new fun sounds (ex. love island alarm) on their old products despite me paying for a subscription just like the new model people do. I’m deeply disappointed in this company. It’s all such a good idea, but the execution has not improved over the years AND they are preventing paying members from accessing new content. I’ve stuck around hoping they would improve, but nothing is changing and it’s clear they’re leaving their “lesser model” customers in the dust.

Latest update is great, customer support is top notch!. I left feedback within the app itself recently, and my concerns were addressed with an email from customer service. Soon afterwards an app update was released which resolved the issue I was having! App has gotten easier to use, is pleasant and efficient. Love that it’s dark mode always. I don’t have a subscription, just a free user, and it’s still a powerful app with a lot of options. Plus the white noise machines are 100 times better than anything else on the market, of course! We own three different versions and use them at home and while traveling. Being able to reliably adjust lighting and sound for babies and big kids without entering the room is life changing for sleep. But we found other uses as well! We open the app and use the Hatch to signal to my oldest when it’s for real time to come down for dinner haha, it’s her bat signal, no more shouting reminders across the house. Hatch is my go-to baby shower gift for new parents, definitely recommend it!

Love it!. We love it! Now I want one for our bedroom, the lights are very soft and ambient but can be used for a perfect personal side light at night without waking everyone up. The sound options are nice and the volume options are a great range as well. I just wish that the audio monitor has the ability to cancel out its own sound. If you are using the sound machine feature you can use the audio monitor simultaneously but it’s hard to hear your child until they get really loud, you may not hear them shuffling. The sound machine noise definitely takes over primarily but it kind of does the job if your not far from them and need at least something to listen in. My child is also under 6months so maybe the sound monitor will become more useful as he gets older, I just wouldn’t solely rely on it at night as your only monitor if you will be using the sound machine at the same time . Otherwise its great I love all the options and you can set timers and favorites still a great product and I think we will get use for many years out of it . 😊

A really good app. I like the hatch and app a lot! very happy that I purchased it and have recommend it to friends! I have two observations: 1. I would like the option to add to my morning routine the same way I can for the night time routine. I understand you can add a bunch of different morning alarms and have them set them back to back, but like why not streamline that the way it is for the night time? 2. I have the premium version so I have access to all sounds, I just don’t like them. I have the app Headspace and their “sleepcasts” the night time stories are far better! I understand the educational aspect of the hatch stories and I’m sure that is appreciated by some. However the soothing stories on Headspace have nothing to do with anything which makes it easier to just wander off into the scene that they set. I find stories like that to be easier to drift off to sleep with, 45mins ambient sound whispering/quiet narrators it’s perfect. I would love for hatch to expand their libraries, because this app and speaker are great I just need them to colab with Headspace or something because the stories are not that good.

good but could be great. When I finally got my babies out of my room, I was so happy expect the one thing I missed was the white noise machine. I’m a pretty utilitarian person so I’m not a big fan of one trick ponies, but the hatch restore really spoke to me as the adult version of what I had been using for my kids. However, it’s missing a few functions that seem pretty intuitive for what it’s supposed to offer. One thing, I love that you can set the clock display to turn off when you want it to, I.e., in the middle of the night. But, it would also be great if you could set periods of time to different brightness levels. I have it set to very low light bc I don’t want it to be glaring at night when I’m trying to use soothing low light to help get to sleep. But then it’s impossible to see during the day when it’s bright out. Should be able to set it to a bright setting during peek sun hrs and lower light setting during evening hrs before sleep or for early am so you can always see the clock but it doesn’t take you out of sleepiness. Also, I really wish it had a third setting to be able to just turn it off and on like a lamp. It’s goofy to have something that big on your night stand that you use for a reading light but not be able to just turn it off and on like a lamp. Otherwise, I like it. But could totally love it.

Nice device, but app needs work. We have truly enjoyed the songs and features of the Hatch device. However, there’s always been one thing we’ve disliked! When you select a playlist of songs, it will play one song that you select, but after the song ends, it won’t continue to the next song in the playlist. I find this very irritating because I have to keep going back to the app and manually selecting the next song to play. There should be a way to select a checkbox for the songs to continue playing automatically. There’s also this annoying bug that every time you leave the app, without closing it, and then you open it back up, it doesn’t remember where you left off… so it’ll show the “counting sheep” loading screen and then you have to find the playlist or thing you were doing once again. If I don’t close the app and simply just change apps like going to check my text messages for example, I shouldn’t be receiving a loading screen from Hatch… it should have stayed where I left off like every other app that I have on my phone. These fixes would greatly improve my opinion of Hatch.

Hatch Rest+ Gen 2 audio cutting out. Our Hatch Rest+ Gen 2 has for the most part been a game changer. We typically just use two presets (favorites). One to have consistent light and white noise at night when sleeping, and one that has the same volume level but a slightly brighter light for night time changes. Typically, we can cycle between the favorites with the volume staying on as to not wake the baby up with the audio fading in or out- only the light would go brighter or dimmer while audio stays the same consistent level all night. Until tonight. Suddenly, the audio not fades in and out between presets. No matter how much I’ve changed, deleted and re setup, reset the whole system- nothing changes it. Now every single time we switch the favorites between the two with identical audio settings, there is a drastic fade out for 2-3 seconds and then fade in for the EXACT same audio settings and volume. Incredibly disruptive for nighttime changes, and there seems to be to support to solve this issue. UPDATE: I contacted support and within an hour they updated the firmware remotely and fixed the issue! Very surprised at how fact and helpful they were!

Very disappointed with the limited options. I, like most of you here, came to the Hatch with the intention of improving sleep cycles. While the sunrise feature has improved my morning rise, I’m really disappointed with how limited the customization options are without purchasing the monthly subscription. For instance, there is no way to turn off *just* the sound of the alarm in the morning and leave the light. This in some ways defeats the purpose of this alarm clock because you are plunged back into darkness when you stop the alarm. There is also no button to turn the light on and off, so as far as I and the internet searches I’ve done can tell, if you are using it as a warm nightlight for reading before bed you have to go back into the app to turn the light off. There goes the last thirty minutes I just spent trying to stay away from the blue light of my phone! On principle, I hate that you have to buy a subscription in order to do some (not even all!) of these things, and even then they are not intuitive. Most of the cool features advertised are only possible with the subscription. You would be better off buying the $27 sun clock - it will do as much or more than this will for a fraction of the cost and there is no subscription necessary.

Great App. Using the Hatch Baby Rest for about nine months now and when I downloaded the app for my new iPad, I couldn’t believe it had a 3-star rating so I read some reviews out of curiosity. Some people are commenting that an update ruined it, but I actually felt the opposite! The update fixed my biggest con - the sliding bar. I didn’t like how I had to guesstimate in order to turn the volume up or down without baby noticing, but now it goes up a percentage at a time and I appreciate that. Overall, I like this product and app so much that I bought one for my niece for her baby shower. My take: first, it’s so easy to use. The Bluetooth connection is reliably fast (I do wish there was a setting that skipped the device choice screen since I currently only have one device, but that’s a great feature if we add another device so it’s worth the extra click through) - I love being able to turn the sound machine off and a light on from another room when baby wakes up if I can’t get there immediately, it really helps keep her content in the meantime and is a wonderful feature. The ability to adjust the sound and light from 0-100 one step at a time is great. The sound quality is good and I like the sound choices, although adding a classical music choice or the option to upload would be nice. I think the design is modern and appealing aka I don’t want to hide it in my daughter’s cute nursery. Excited about the programmability options in the future. Do yourself a favor if you’re looking for a sound machine and get this one. It’s worth every penny. Sad to hear people say otherwise because this is a great app and device!

Lights are great, app is not. We have loved the lights for their purpose as a nightlight-sound machine-alarm clock for our children. They are really good at adhering to our color and sound system for bedtime/playtime/wake-up. However, the app itself is super annoying to work with. On days where our kids have to stay home due to being sick, or something of that nature, we want to adjust the wake up time to let them sleep in a bit. If the light is already running in that particular program, it will run the original time frame, not the adjusted one. If I want to adjust to a new wake-up time, I have to stop the program and make it start one minute after I’m done currently programming it and set it to turn off in the morning at the new time I want; or I have to create a whole new program to start with the same parameters I originally set for bedtime, (light brightness and sound percentage), and have it start a minute before the ongoing program ends, until the time I actually want it to end. We have two lights, so doing that two times is really annoying. I wish it would update automatically to the lights. Sometimes we don’t know about a need for a sleep extension until after the kids are sleeping, so stopping and resetting a new alarm isn’t a viable option if I want my kids to stay asleep. Not only that, but then I have to go back the next night and either delete the new alarm, or readjust the new one, hopefully before it turns on at night so we can have a normal schedule. TL;DR: the light is great for my kids; the app is horrible for parents making adjustments if a program is already started and forces you to have to do a whole lot of Mumbo-jumbo to get it to fit your new schedule.

Sounds stopped working. I too am having the issue now where several of the free sounds have stoped working properly for the past few weeks. First the morning alarm with one of the bird songs stopped going off in the morning. Switched it to bells and that one works fine. Now at night it plays 2 seconds of sea waves before just stopping all together—but the light in that phase stays on. It used to have an occasional skip where it would start back up after a glitchy few seconds but now it just doesn’t play sound at all after the initial few seconds. Calming ocean also stopped working, as well as the beach one and several of the white noises. It seems all of the relaxing ocean themed sounds are broken except sea wind, which is loud wind. Eventually I found the one with Maine sounds still works but that one mixes relaxing wave sounds with boat engines and screaming birds a few minutes in. lol. I’ve tried their FAQ which ultimately suggests I buy a new cord, but if a new cord was needed wouldn’t there be an issue with all sounds? I’ve tried deleting my routine and creating a new one and still get the glitch with most of the free sounds. I’ve also hard and soft reset the device. I was already frustrated at the cost of the device and then the exorbitant cost of the subscription on top of it , which mentions new sounds are being frequently added but there has been no new content in years at least in the version of the app I have for the restore. Now that the sounds are not working at night I highly recommend people pick a more reliable and upfront device instead of the Hatch.

Login account????. Dear Hatch. Why do I need to create an account just to control my hatch product from my phone. Seems pointless and unnecessary along the hundreds of other accounts.

No support no support. No support .. useless

Over engineered and feature bloat. This app used to be so simple to use. The updated version is a UX nightmare. A previously intuitive UI has been replaced with something that is utterly awful and so user unfriendly it hurts. Here is an idea. Make adding routines to the tap ring a primary feature that takes seconds not a linear nightmare of super small touch targets and slow unresponsive UI. This thing is so overcooked. I’ll stick to using the device without the app. Finally the overbearing feature limiting going on here to try and upsell has killed a good simple app and turned it into unnecessary bloatware where basic core features are deliberately obtuse.

Love it!!!. I love it! This is the best!!! I can only recommend it 😍

Shady subscription set up. Lots of dark patterns causing you to accidentally enable the premium subscription.

Worth the money. While I have only had hatch for a few months it has been the best investment in our parenting journey so far! I am in Australia so the only place I can get it is drtechlove and it wasn’t cheap, but I hope in the future as it becomes more popular and easy to access the price might go down!

Stop spamming your customers. I do not need to or want to give you my email address. This app does not integrate with Apple ID, indicating that the aim of it is to inundate already paying customers with endless spam. Stop. Just stop.

Slow to load and massively oversized application. We have 2 units and it takes an age to switch between them, sometimes just completely timing out. Also, at 300MB, this is a massively oversized application compared to other apps

Thousand subscription cuts…. By a product and have to pay a monthly fee to use it fully. Amazing…

App interface. I struggle to use this quickly as opposed to the old interface that I have for my other daughter. It’s clunky to adjust volume and light. Not easy at all

Best purchase for my little one!. Couldn’t be happier

Arbitrary Limitations with Restore 3. The sunrise alarm itself is so wonderful and effective BUT this app is very limited even with the expensive subscription. Pros: - creating nightly routines - sunrise alarm (with the subscription, it gradually gets brighter over the course of one hour before my alarm sound goes off) - nice alarm sound options (im usually awake by the time this sounds, so this functions more as a transition to getting out of bed) Cons - youre limited to create two nightly routines. Having 7 nights a week and many choices for sounds, its surprising there arent more routines available - routines are limited to nighttime only (i was looking to create a morning routine to stack morning sounds to ease the transition out of bed but you cant even select the morning sounds) (want to go sunrise-> birdsong -> stretching/movement/music) - night and morning sounds cannot be interchanged (i enjoy a music option in the night category and would like to use it in the morning but cannot) - the alarm will stay on for one hour if i dont turn it off then it automatically shuts off (i should have a choice over this in terms of length and option to shut off) - i tried to create a workaround with the morning routine by creating a second alarm to go off after my initial alarm sounds but because the first alarm could last 1 hour, the app doesnt let me set a second alarm until after this 1 hour passes - the app is organized rather poorly, theres no way to see everything in one place or to see whats a premium feature that im paying for (beyond the 1 month trial) General grievances with the company - its impossible to get a hold of anyone online. I used the chat feature on the website which sent me in circles to pages that dont exist - the chat ai offered me a link to be a beta tester after talking to it about the restore 3, and theres no restore 3 listed in the options - their website is also poorly organized for support. Theres no one page, one video, or one document manual with everything you need to operate the app, its all buried under case by case issues with very limited support. Its all very basic and generalized which doesnt support anyone wanting to actually understand the function and capabilities of the product.

App is so painfully slow. Hatch team - fix your app. It’s incredibly slow and is the reason i’m considering returning my Restore. 🤨

App is terrible. Alarm is amazing.. So slow and glitchy. Snore masks won’t play sound. Support bot doesn’t oeivjde answers and support team takes 48 hrs to respond to talk to a real person.

Maintenance needed. The device is lovely but I’m surprised the company would release an accompanying app with such poor UI and functionality!! Were no parents or end users consulted during testing? From the slow app load and open time, to lack of ease adjusting volume, glitchy favorites, and lack of widgets, it makes for a disappointing experience.

Restore 3 Won’t turn on at the same time everyday. The Restore 3 won’t play white noise at the same time everyday?! What a basic function to be missing! You have to manually turn it on everyday. The Rest does have this feature…. I wish I didn’t buy the Restore 3. Don’t waste your money

worst alarm clock, worst app.. i truly didn’t realize what an absolute scam this entire thing is. despite having to pay a monthly fee, the app seems to be designed by a toddler. my phone gets hotter than lava after simply setting an alarm. after your trial ends, not only is there no option to only see free sounds, they are completely hidden under the alarm tab. if you’re thinking about getting this, get the amazon dupe instead.

Amazing device, horrible app. The actual alarm clock is great. I love waking up to it and using it for white noise when I sleep. But the app is so horrible and sometimes doesn’t even work. Considering the subscription is so expensive, I would think they would put some more work into the app. It’s usually very slow, sometimes even crashes and I’ve often had issues with the app not opening at all - which is a big deal when you’re setting your alarm before bed and you have to get up early in the morning.

Awful app for a mediocre product. Incredibly expensive lamp that charges you exorbitant subscription fees for anything more than the bare minimum of features. Awful interface that cannot be customized. If I didn’t receive the product as a gift it would have been returned the same day. I have rarely been so disappointed. Great job Hatch.

Switching a new wifi network is near impossible. Been trying to reconnect to a new network for the last 2 hours. Such a bad experience. Can't believe I paid for this. Absolutely abysmal. Stay away from this device and app.

Let us pair with other apps PLEASE!!. I love the actual product, it’s beautiful and the sunrises are done very well, but I don’t understand why we can’t have it pair with a third party app that can trigger the Hatch sunrise light? :( the hatch app just doesn’t have all the tracking functionality that I get from my current sleep app, and I don’t want to have to chose between one or the other, I’d love to use both.

Beautiful but BRUTALLY slow. The illustrations are beautiful and the app is easy enough to use, but HOLY MOLY, it literally takes longer than a minute for the app to even open. And then when I try to make any edits to wind down routines, it literally takes 30 seconds to a minute just to save a single step. It is incredibly frustrating. Would’ve been a 4 star. But this is making my alarm clock almost unusable. It should not take 3-5 minute to update an alarm and some settings. And that’s time just waiting for it to save.

Can’t set alarm. I have used the app for the last 6 months with no issues. The app can be a little slow when saving changes to alarms but no other issues. However, after turning the alarms off for a week while on vacation, I can’t turn them on anymore. I’ve tried unplugging the clock, changing alarm times, deleting and re-adding alarms and still can’t use it. Very frustrating.

It’s alright. Been a hatch user for approx 2 years. I’ve had a premium subscription the entire time but am planning to cancel it. I like the clock, but have very disappointed with the app for the past 6 months. App is super laggy and the ux isn’t great. Also no clue why but the company used to be so good with adding new sounds/morning moments/alarms. Over the past year they’ve gotten rid of a lot of the audio content and have added maybe 3 new alarms ???? I was willing to pay for these past few years but it makes no sense to pay when they continuously remove or don’t update their library… (@hatch pls bring back that coach that hypes you for the day). And there’s minor things that I’m surprised haven’t been improved. For example, there’s no way to temporarily toggle off your evening cue for a day. You have to turn it off completely and remember to turn it back on the next day. Lastly, the free version should not be so bare bones for an over $200 clock. It’s one thing to not have all the sleep and wake options to listen to, but why the heck can’t we choose the colour of the light without paying $60 CAD each year? So tl;dr it’s a predatory subscription model and the subscription has gotten much worse over the year. Consider any other sunrise clock.

the slowest app ever. The app completely ruined this experience for me. I was so excited to try this alarm and I truly believe that the concept is great. However, as a UX/UI designer, I’m infuriated. This interface is full of bad design decisions. You added so many effects and animations that it takes 3-7 business days to do anything at all. Don’t even get me started on the UX part. What am I paying a subscription for? For the app that doesn’t work? Very disappointing

What happen?. Dev’s what is going on with the app. It’s as if you are in beta stage. Takes forever to load. There are so many delays can’t access the hatch device. It’s terrible. Doesn’t even start have the time.

App crashes Daily. This app crashes literally everyday !!! I have to redownload and reconnect the hatch all the time ! It is very frustrating. I don’t recommend !!!!!

Pleasant aesthetic UI, very slow to execute multiple tasks. The app is extremely slow. Every time I make a small change, it freezes for about 5 seconds to save. If I try to make a few quick edits in a row, I have to wait between each one, which makes it really frustrating to use.

Clunky and stagnant feature development. I bought the original Hatch Restore many years ago and although the app was a bit clunky, I saw great potential with the high quality hardware. I assumed the app would continue to improve over time with updates that give it more functionality and UX improvements. However, for the past 5 years, I haven’t seen any meaningful updates to the app. It’s frustrating because here’s so much potential to make a great product here but the tech is stuck 5-10 years in the past. A few notable misses: 1. No integration with home automation systems (HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa, etc). For a smart device, this is the bare minimum in 2026. 2. The device has a speaker, but can’t be used as a wifi speaker. (Probably to force more people into a subscription but you’re losing on customer acquisition by omitting this functionality.) 3. Only one wind-down routine can be configured. Why can’t I have more than one and why can’t it be a gradual dimming, like a sunset? 4. No option to gradually increase volume in parallel with the light intensity. You can only pick one volume level for the sound. It’s impossible to recreate the atmosphere of a sunrise in the forest where you hear one little bird and then more gradually start chirping as the sun comes up. It would be so easy to do this! 5. The custom app UI is clunky and dated. Just use the standard Apple UI components with a theme. It’ll save dev time and be consistent UX for users 6. The subscription should have more value for what it costs. If you’re going to charge a recurring fee for content, it should have new, high quality content daily. Look at Headspace for guidance. Since I’ve bought my Hatch Restore there have been 2 new versions of it released, but my experience with the Hatch Restore 1 hasn’t given me much enthusiasm to consider upgrading.

Infuriatingly Slow. The app is aesthetically nice but shockingly slow and unresponsive. For the amount of money spent on the device, I would expect something more pleasant to use. It has to load for minimum 5-10 seconds after seemingly every button press. It is not intuitively laid out. It is frustratingly slow for a new user to preview all of the sounds to add to a routine, it took me 30 minutes to set up a single night time routine, and most of that was just waiting for the app to load. Not a great first experience after purchasing.

Worst app. I had the hatch for the past year. The app is awful. So many problems and bugs. The ux experience is the worst. Furthermore, I cannot comprehend why the hatch schedule WON’T turn back on after an electricity shortage if it was already active. It’s connected to wifi and know what time is it. Why don’t use the information to let the hatch light on the appropriate schedule? (If I start a schedule at 8 pm for 10 hours until 6 am, and I have a 30 secondes shortage at 9 pm, the hatch will stay black all night.)

Most features are locked behind a paywall. Made the mistake of buying a rest+ thinking the hefty price tag would give me access to all the features. I was wrong. You’ll need to buy a pricey monthly subscription to get access to most features on the device. Returned.

Expensive for basic features, but good sunrise alarm. Definitely good for the basics - sunrise alarm, choice of sounds and control over the alarms. However, I am disappointed for the price I paid that most features/options all require a “plus” membership to access.

Slow and clunky. The fact that they charge a subscription for this is appalling. Returning.

Super Glitchy. This app is terrible. It doesn’t consistently open, save alarms, or find my already connected and plugged in devices. The features are also very difficult to navigate if you have the free version and are highly limited. Would not recommend, use a colour changing lightbulb and phone alarm combination instead for a better experience than a Hatch

App crashes. App crashes. Magic link sign in doesn’t work. Hangs all the time.

Child Lock Shouldn’t Mean Adult App Lock. We have loved the Hatch app and Hatch Rest+ light & sound machine for years. Up until a month or so ago, we could adjust settings on the app while the child lock was enabled on the Rest+. Now we cannot. It’s locked out on the app like it is on the actual unit. What is the point of this? My children don’t have access to the app or my phone for that matter. If we want to turn the light down after they fall asleep, we can’t. Please fix this update and restore the app to its previous glory.

Works well. Very easy and simple to use one downfall is there is a subscription for some of the features but still works fine with out paying I enjoy waking up to this alarm clock every morning

App is inconvenient. This device is great but the app is terrible, it always times out and you have to reopen it, which really sucks when you’re trying to use for a baby in the middle of the night. It’s such a large page I don’t understand why the The light and sound adjustments are so small at bottom of page. They’re far too small to maneuver when trying to use in the middle of the night with baby, they used to be bigger and easier to maneuver but are not user friendly now. Also the power button is so close to the light slide that I accidentally hit it all the time in the middle of the night. You used to be able to nick name your ring settings and they have removed that option with latest update.

Please don’t waste your money. This alarm clock is terrible, and I’m 95% sure that everyone saying it’s good is either paid to do so, or is delusional and wants it to be good since they just spent $250 on an alarm clock. The app is so difficult to use if you don’t pay for the subscription because out of the 100 or so sounds, like 5 are free and you can’t filter by free sounds, you just have to scroll and search for them. The “routines” are garbage and the app is difficult. Honestly baffled people recommend this because it should be worth half its price and come with all the subscription stuff for free.

It’s a gamble if the alarm will actually go off. It’s happened many times now where the alarm doesn’t go off if you are playing a sleep sound. Really defeats the purpose of such an expensive alarm clock. The app can be slow and cumbersome. When it works it’s nice, but my faith in the clock actually working come morning is low. I still set a backup Apple alarm, which more often than not, is the one that actually makes noise to wake me up. In hindsight, after missing alarms, and dealing with the app I don’t think I would buy this again.

Premium speaker with paywall. Predatory Subscription model At least should have an option to play my own music and sound. This is ridiculous, returning it soon if nothing changes. At this price, do yourself a favor and by a wireless speaker and go on a music streaming platform. Abysmal selection of sounds for the base app. For such an expensive device, they lock 90% of the content behind an equally expensive subscription. For a $120 speaker, it is made very clear to you how little you have access to if you don't opt to buy their extra $50+ annual subscription. Like new parents have all the money in the world and can’t wait to subscribe to all the apps… like wtf. They try to force it on you at every step in the app setup and only once you finally get past it is it clear how little actually comes with the default program. Seeing all of this extra content locked behind this paywall after already paying for a "premium" speaker is crazy... for a "family-first" company, it's obvious they much rather focus on prying your wallet open as much as possible. Return it while you still can.

A colossal piece of garbage. App has frequent outages make it useless and no connection to google home to create automations. They want you to buy their subscription for whatever nonsense. If this wasn’t a gift it’d be returned immediately.

Won’t connect to WIFI. Moved device to a different room and now it won’t reconnect to wifi. Chat bot and website are useless for help. Don’t waste your money on this over complicated device

Slow and disconnects. I want to love my hatch but the app is awful. It constantly disconnects my hatch right before I go to bed and takes a bit to set back up. It takes up to 5 minutes just to save an alarm I’ve edited. I find that it glitches a lot and it’s just SLOW. 75% of the time i set an alarm or wind down it gives me an error and have to try it again multiple times before it successfully save it.

glitchy app. I love my Hatch & it’s really help my sleep, but the app has been very glitchy lately and there has been instances of it not saving my alarm and then i don’t wake up on time in the morning. it takes forever to load things, and often disconnects from my restore. very frustrating & sometimes gives me more sleep anxiety because my alarm doesn’t go off sometimes even when i set it.

It is not functional and it is complicated. It seems that the designer of the app doesn't really use it or doesn't have children, the bar to modulate the sound or light is completely dysfunctional, you have to be very precise in your hand so as not to make a mistake and in the middle of the night instead of putting 30% you put 60% and wake up your children, also if you mistakenly put the phone in your hand, you can turn off the device, sometimes the app doesn't work and seeing the hatch buttons in the middle of the night is impossible.

Horrible app control. I can’t make any change on the app work on the device, it’s always a gamble, either it does not work or it works after a long time. Colors are wrong every time I turn it on

Love the app .. would love a watch app too!. The app on my iPhone is great. It would be even better if they had a watch app as well for times when I forget my phone and I’m with the baby in the nursery. Would really help!!

You’re joking? Right?. What over eager, post MBA, product manager is responsible for this abhorrent mess of a product and UI? I just want to turn on my lamp/noise and there’s like 8 pop ups trying to upsell me on buying further into your ecosystem (you don’t have an ecosystem, you are a noisy lamp) and some MS Clippy AI chat bot trying to offer me sleep advice (you aren’t an intelligent AI offering, you are a noisy lamp). What’s with all these stupid baby gadget companies thinking they deserve a slice of recurring revenue? Snoo (noisy shaky baby bed company), and now Hatch (noisy lamp company). You are a noisy lamp company and that’s all you’ll ever be. I value you at 0x ARR.

app problem. the general consensus seems to be that the product is amazing!... but the app is infuriatingly slow and painful to use. Legitimately couldn't change my alarm from 8:30 to 7:00. There was an unspecific error every time i hit save. For multiple days...

Update not updating. A few days after I got the hatch I received a message on the app telling me it had to update. 2 months later and the app is still stuck on update. Use is very limited without the app.

Slow glitchy app. I don’t think I have ever experienced such a slow and glitchy app. Every time I try to make a change or save something it takes forever and often crashes the app. Absolutely ridiculous to be paying this much for the subscription to hatch plus and the clock itself when the app is so buggy and not user friendly. I wanted to love this but the app experience ruins it.

Predatory Subscription model. Abysmal selection of sounds for the base app. For such an expensive device, they lock 90% of the content behind an equally expensive subscription. For a $120 speaker, it is made very clear to you how little you have access to if you don’t opt to buy their extra $50+ annual subscription. They try to force it on you at every step in the app setup and only once you finally get past it is it clear how little actually comes with the default program. Seeing all of this extra content locked behind this paywall after already paying for a “premium” speaker is crazy… for a “family-first” company, it’s obvious they much rather focus on prying your wallet open as much as possible. Return it while you still can.

Better than a phone. The device is great. Solid sounds and great lighting. The fading between routines is AWFUL. One second the sound is slowly fading out, then the next part of your routine kicks in and BAM! It’s back to the preset volume. Is it too much to ask to fade in and out of each part of the routine?!? Other than this, rather large missing feature, it’s been a good experience with the app and device.

Crashes and lags. I genuinely am not trying to be offensive but this app was very very poorly designed. Crashes every single damn time you try to do something. If you need a guy I have one.

REMOVED FEATURES. I don't wanna support a brand that thinks it's ok to remove features that customers previously had. they updated the app and I was kicked out and had to login again only to find out that sounds I previously had access to as a free user were no longer available. I love waking up to a light however there are plenty of cheaper options. I also have the option to set up a Google Home mini with any lamp of my choice. I only purchased this product because I thought it would be more convenient. I was extremely upset to find out that the $200 lamp I paid for had low quality speakers and that there were only two free sounds I liked. Despite my disappointment I ultimately decided that I enjoyed waking up to the light and I had already bought this clock and didn't want to trouble myself with setting something else up. I no longer have access to the two sounds I liked and for all I know in the future I won't even have access to the light because I don't trust a brand that makes their service worse in order to pressure customers into paying monthly subscriptions. (I feel like someone might tell me that the sounds I had access to or part of the free trial. I did not use the free trial because I wanted an authentic experience of this product without the paid subscription. I am certain that I had free access to certain sounds that I now do not have access to.) I'm over this brand and if I still have the ability to return this I will.

Love my hatch!. Hatch has helped my sleep so much and is a great way to wake up, just wish there were more nature sounds !

New UI update is awfully designed. New UI doesn’t have +/- button which lets you increase/decrease brightness or volume. Also removed value of brightness and volume so you dont how to precisely set value for brightness or volume. Now you have to use slider to do that which is not useful. Please fix this for future updates

Waste of Money. When setting up the app, you are forced to create an unwind portion of your routine and have zero option to opt out. The other two parts of your routine are optional - cue to unwind/ sleep. If you set up a cue to unwind it will play indefinitely for the entire night without moving on to the rest of your routine. There is zero feature allowing you to schedule your unwind/sleep sounds which is ridiculous considering you should in theory be asleep and unable to manually move on to the next step. The options are to go on to your phone and into the app or physically get up and do it on your actual alarm clock. Considering that you have no choice but to set up this feature it’s ridiculous that it won’t automatically play. Chatting with support was no help and I find it ironic that hatch recommended to send me reminders to get off my phone when my cue starts, but I have to go on my phone to actually use my alarm clock. Considering my hatch was over $200 and I am forced to pay every month/year in order to use any of the features I bought the alarm clock for, I think it was a huge waste of money and I would definitely not recommend.

Rip off. Hatch+ is a total rip off when other music streaming services have better variety at a more reasonable price, but without hatch+ this product is just an expensive night light. Not worth the hype and frustrating to feel like we’re being taken advantage of and paying money for a gimmick as parents. Save your money and buy yourself a nightlight and a portable speaker with a Spotify subscription where you can find white noise too.

Horrible new app version. The new version of this app doesn’t open directly to your device. Previously, when you would open the app, it would open directly to your device. Now, there is an extra step that requires you to select the device you want to control, even when you only have one device connected! Not only is this an extra step, but it lags and takes a while to load both the screen with available devices, and the devices you select. Additionally, the volume and brightness sliders are harder to control. Before, they were sliders and you could fully customize what you wanted. Now, there are preset levels on a slider bar and the dimmest level is much brighter than we have been using for nighttime. I contacted Hatch Baby regarding these two issues and they responded within a day. They informed me that the app team is working on a fix for the sliders, but they do not have an estimated release date. Unfortunately, in regards to the auto connect issue, they stated “We've found that auto-connecting has been unreliable on certain platforms/devices and we want to make sure our users have the most reliable connection possible.” So, it sounds like they removed this functionality and have no intentions of fixing it. Super frustrating for a brand whose mission was to make new parents life easier.

New Library is Disappointing. I used to love my hatch clock, I bought it for the sunrise feature but fell in love with it for the added membership you could buy for access to the sounds/meditations Library. It was so extensive and I could find the perfect meditation that I needed on any given day. My clock broke and the new one I was sent only worked with a new library in the app and I hate it. The library is a fraction of what the old one was and most of the meditations are less than 10 minutes long vs the old library having options that were 45+ minutes long. I asked for access back to the old library (which still exists because my old hatch can still connect to it) but they told me I could not be connected to it on my new device. My advice: don’t waste your money on this app subscription.

Love the hatch, the app drives me crazy.. There are two main bugs I see in the Hatch and, especially, in the Hatch app. First, I would love for there to be a noise option more similar to womb noise - not so high-pitched and electric as all of the sound options currently available. The water/waves and the static are not as warm and cozy as I would prefer (and as I think would be advantageous for our baby). My primary frustration about the app itself is how long it takes to load, to connect, and then to get off the screen that exclaims “Connected!” It has to go through this process each time you switch screens on your phone or open and close the app, and it is just slow enough to be irritating, especially when trying to navigate the app to calm an angry baby. This seems like it’d be a simple fix, but it would make this momma very grateful!

Over promise, under deliver :(. I enjoy the light and the sunrise alarm but the app is not good. You have to pay for the premium version to get any content, without it there’s only a few soundscapes and a couple of very weak meditations. and without the app, it’s a REALLY expensive nightlight. The meditations are so weak that I’m hesitant to buy the premium version because I don’t feel confident they’re going to be any good. You would think that paying this much for the light / alarm itself would come with a few more options out of the box to motivate you to get more. There are so few options that i will likely return it (I do appreciate the 60 day return policy!). If the developers are reading this - please consider a “lite” version of the subscription. Something in between free and super premium - would be great for those of us that would like a little more than the weak offering out of the box but don’t need a full library of content at such a premium price.

What the heck happened. I literally updated this a week ago and it has turned into a nightmare of an app. It is extremely slow, it’s randomly setting timers when I don’t even click to set one, when I go to turn up or down the sound it’s literally doing it’s own thing! I’ll have it at 50 and turning it up and it’ll suddenly go back to 40 something for example without me even touching it. Absolutely infuriating, especially during the week of the 4th! Let’s also not forget the fact that it has been having such connectivity issues, not recognizing my machine when I’m not that far away at all. Listen, I don’t know what the heck happened here but we’ve used this since 2021. I don’t know what y’all did but please fix this ASAP and please don’t tell us it’s because you’re getting rid of the Bluetooth ones and forcing us to buy the new. Don’t be like apple.

Saved our sleep!. I absolutely love our Hatch! We bought it for our 2.5 year old and it has been so worth it! The ability to customize as many programs as we want is so helpful to keep him in his room and sleeping longer. No more 4am wake ups! I also love the timer setting. I can put him in time-out for a few minutes and he does not throw a fit. Just waits for the light/music to turn off and then he comes out calmer! Suggestions: I would love to see the range extended for my phone app. I have to be right outside the door for it to work. Also, an iWatch app would be amazing. I do not have my phone on me at all times, so the ability to adjust the settings on my watch would be so helpful!

App update killed it.. I loved our Rest until they updated the app. I always used the app because using the buttons on the bottom of the machine was too cumbersome - especially in the dark. Since the update, it takes a long time to find the device, if it is even finds it at all. Not an issue we had pre-update. Next, when it does find the device, it will not connect. The loading wheel of death appears and i have to close the app, start over and hope that this time, it works. I used to be able to open the app and see my device right there. I’ve read responses from the team saying you were having connectivity issues for some customers and this was a better way to serve all.... take a survey guys, I’m pretty sure MOST Hatch users are having issues now. Please fix this app. I got this device to make my life easier, not to frustrate me.

Last century’s technology, only worse!. My bedroom has thick concrete walls and no windows. I bought the Hatch clock because studies show that waking to “natural” light is better for your circadian rhythm, etc. The Hatch clock does this…when it works. Here’s the issue(s): Hatch could have just built a clock with an integrated light. Instead, they’ve over complicated a rudimentary device with technology and subscription services. Your clock needs WI-FI and connection to your smart phone in order to wake you up in the morning? Why? Why Hatch? How do I know this is a problem? Because one night, my Wi-Fi went out. Guess who was late the next morning? You know how stupid you sound rushing into a meeting, apologizing because your alarm clock disconnected from the internet? Issue 1.5: I’ve been signed out of the app. My alarm is going off as I write this. I can’t turn my alarm off. Now the app wants me to create a new account. While my alarm is singing to me. Solid work developers. Slow clap. Second issue: I realize that someone in your group desperately trying to prove the student loans for their online MBA are a good investment probably earned the team a pizza party for their wildly innovative “subscription service” idea. This is an alarm clock. It is already overpriced at $130 (!!!!). Count your money and walk away. 1/10. Do not recommend. Cut a hole in your wall. It’s cheaper and more effective.

Please update this one thing!. I love this sound machine, and am so happy that I purchased it. I love being able to change the light color to any color you could think of, and all of the other features it has. My daughter has come to love staring at it, while I feed her a bottle to sleep. I use the static tv noise with the blue light, and in the mornings, when I come in to get her, I just touch the ring on top once, and it changes to birds chirping, and an orange-yellow-y color. I draw back the curtain, and she has the biggest smile on her face every morning. It’s great. I JUST HAVE ONE REQUEST.. Please CHANGE THE WAY YOU ADJUST THE VOLUME FROM YHE APP! It’s WAYY too touchy. If I try to turn it up just a little higher from the couch, because I forgot when I laid her down, it will jump up 10-15% and scare the crap out of her! Because of this, I never use the app. Besides that, love it! Must buy! Or put on your registry!

Was Great, Update is Rough. Loved this app until the latest update. They discontinued the autoconnect feature which doesn’t sound that bad in passing, but when you have a fussy baby you’re trying to calm down with white noise, those seconds (sometimes minutes when the app fails to load completely) count. Also, when I open the app now it takes significantly longer to load, adding to the slowness. It can take a long time to get to the screen where you actually turn on the Hatch, whereas it used to take about 5 seconds. I’ve also had to re-login a few times since the update. I really wish the developers would consider bringing autoconnect back it really does make a difference! The need for quickness isn’t an issue for everyone, I’m sure, but it’s been a level of annoying I wouldn’t have expected. I paid enough for this that I would hope for seamless operation, and seamless it is not.

Nothing but problems. The hatch restore has been terrible!! The app design is also cheap and difficult to navigate. Do not waste your money or time. I was excited to use it, paid for subscription service and just never worked. It is insanely difficult to connect if you have to switch WiFi source. So you can not travel with it. After changing the WiFi once it never worked again and could never connect to my home WiFi again. This company clearly dumps everything into marketing and nothing into the product. The clock feels light and cheaply made. The app is sloppy and difficult to manage. And you will waste hours of your life trying to get it connected. I don’t even think I would want another one if it was free, you can tell it is a piece of junk. I’d love for someone from Hatch to reach out and try to make this right but I highly doubt they will.

Must add in registry. We love our hatch! We’ve had it for 2 weeks and we’ve been using it everyday since. You can set 6 different timers with or without sound, Vice versa. I barely touch the actual Hatch thanks to the app and favorites I can set. The app is user friendly. The sounds seem pretty realistic and therapeutic. It was gifted to us, and we initially planned to use it during midnight diaper changes for our newborn, but it has also come in handy for our toddlers. I’ve set the light to turn on at 8pm, in case my toddlers need something to grab in their room, I don’t need to walk up to turn the light on for them. It’s made my kids a lot more self-sufficient. We do travel often, so what would be more ideal for us is also having batteries (regular or rechargeable) and not always needing an outlet in order to use it. If it had that feature, then it would for sure be rated 5 stars.

This thing is incredible. I was an insomniac before I bought this. No more! Best money I’ve ever spent. And the app is incredibly easy to use and self-explanatory. No need to read a long boring user manual to figure it out. I love how I can choose the brightness of the clock too, or even turn it off to prevent those anxiety provoking glances at the time overnight. I immediately bought the Hatch baby for my girls. I love how I can adjust the sound and light from my phone if needed so I don’t disturb their sleep. I will likely also buy this for my sister and mother in law and best friend. This is going to be my go to gift until everyone I love has it. This is a genius product. Finally a company that has some brains and understands humans. It’s almost too good to believe!

My Hatch. I got the Hatch Restore for my birthday because I am a college student with a diagnosed sleeping disorder. The restore helped me immensely, but when it stopped connecting to my wifi for a week I struggled so much with my sleeping disorder because it became a tool I relied on to help me. In less than a month of owning it I have never had so many issues with connection for a device (and I’m an engineering student). It’s so slow and although costumer service is so helpful in a timely manner, the tips they gave me to finally get it to connect were no where to be found on the FAQ. (The helpful instructions are listed below). I also noticed that the new version of the app (version 3.6) is supposed to have a color wheel feature to choose a specific color light but I can’t access it (I don’t have a membership because I am worried about investing money into a device that already glitches). Is this color wheel feature only with the membership? I can’t find this documented anywhere! Please try this hard reset on your Restore Unplug Restore Press and hold the Connect button with the two arrows on the bottom of your Restore Re-plug Restore Release the Connect button after 10 seconds Wait about 2 minutes for the Restore to reboot and try connecting again

When you can connect it’s great. There are many great features and options on the app. Customer service is spectacular. However, the hardware is very touchy. You can never unplug it or god forbid the power go out because it will be the most frustrating time to get the hardware to connect to wifi again while you are trying to go to bed and this is supposed to help you relax. I want to throw this thing out the window every couple of months because it won’t reconnect. Just over and over says cannot find the device. I have no other problems connecting to my very expensive internet with other devices so they can’t continue to blame that as much as they have tried. The price of the product and the app are not worth it. You can find something cheaper that is less frustrating when you are trying to relax and go to sleep.

Needs help but maybe it will get there. So many things I would change about this app. Overly complicated to set up, add a small amount of intuitive behaviors to it and already I’d be happier. Why can’t I add my own music in, the pickings are very very slim and alllll of your music has cellos in it, which is a very specific noise and to some, not soft enough to be able to drift to sleep. Meditation voices are very monotone, not comforting. Very limited selection all around for sounds. If I change a sleep step mid sleep sequence, it turns the whole thing off. Please put a USB port on the side of it. Why is there no sunset feature? Why can’t I wake up to my music or my news station? I feel like an alarm clock radio had more features than this. Please improve! The device is pretty, the light options are nice, but also confusing, why can’t I make my own sunset or sunrise with all the different light options. Have some preset routines to pick from.

Some functionality could use improvement. I use the hatch app all the time with the device in my toddler’s room. I love the features it has, but wish for a few more. I would love to be able to reorder the favorites on the favorites list. As my child grows, our needs change (no longer need a midnight feeding setting, but now need a bedtime wind down setting, etc.), but in order to put a new favorite “in front of” an old one, I need to completely reset all of them. Also, I’d love to be able to save a setting as a “favorite” but not have it on the touch ring rotation so that I can easily choose it on my phone, but not have to cycle through it on the rotation. I asked customer service and they were quick to respond with a work around (save it and toggle it on and off every time you use it), which is okay, but not great.

Issues before even utilizing the app.. This device was purchase for my baby and i am finally able to use it. Just when I go to set it up I’m told I can’t register. Only to receive an email telling me that they are backed up and will get to me I am sure whenever they feel like it. If this many issues are going on to the point you’re backed up I don’t need this product at all. So I now have a product that i can’t use and have to wait on their time to be able to use it. After paying the amount for this item you would think they would have it so you can easily set up and use automatically. It’s not like this is cable. I am not reading reviews stating you have to spend even more money to get your worth out of it. If that is true once I set up I will be returning the product to the store and advising everyone not to purchase. I know there is items that will give you more for less.

2+ years of using hatch. Hatch is great in many ways but a few things make it drive me crazy. One : I go to turn the sound machine down and it goes back up to the noise level it was set at without my doing which scares the crap out of my babies (we have one in each room). This is SO frustrating. Two: the actual sliding part for the light and the sound is so sensitive and it can be frustrating to get it on the number you want sometimes. Three: it can take a bit to Open up which can be annoying Update - still when I turn the noise down, to wake my child (ren) almost always will it go back up all the way and startle my kids - the whole reason I like this is because I can wake them gradually and put light on slowly but half the time undoes what I do- why has no one fixed this in almost 3 years of my having three hatches - no change or Improvement

All day every day. When I first hit this I just had it playing the same sound all day…now that we’ve been using it for 3 + months ,I have a program set for every part of everyday. Some days I’m home and others I work. During louder parts of the afternoon it automatically will switch to louder setting. At night the light runs to softer light. The best part is that we don’t just have constant white noise, we can wake up to soft lullabies. Also… love the listen in monitor feature. It runs in the background on your phone even while in other apps that have sounds playback. It’s nice you can move it around the house with you through the day if need be. 10/10 recommend, every new parent needs one. Thanks hatch

Dissatisfied- updated. Update- support contacted me and we figured out the problem. It was part my fault typo error on original sent up email. So when it asked me to log in I ended up making new account with not typos. Happy with how quick emails were to fix the problem once they started! As of now I only use this as a night light looking forward to trying other features …….It has been a week of not being able to connect to the app I get a message that says I would get a email once resolved. I have submitted 2 messages in hope I get a reply that this is a problem on their end and I have not heard a thing! I would not recommend this product!! Get something else not happy this is not needed

Rediculous. Every time I use my Rest+ Hatch it asks me to update, which takes forever, so most of the time I skip but then have to remember to do it later otherwise it keeps asking. When I log in, which it also makes me do almost every time where I have to type in my email and password which is super annoying, and then it takes forever to load the screen and anything I click on on the home page. Sometimes it takes so long to load the sound I pick that I think it’s broken, and then I have to restart. Sometimes the sound adjustment doesn’t even work at all and it’s super annoying having to panic about waking up baby because it just so happened to malfunction when you forgot to turn the volume down before playing it. I’m ready to replace this with a clock because at this point I’m over the difficult technicality issues with this product because it takes up too much time to get it to work the clock was the only upside.

Return if you don’t have good wifi. This is the most overpriced hunk of junk I have ever purchased. How in the name of all that is holy does it have 5 stars? It took me 30 minutes to set up because my wifi isn’t strong in the room I wanted it. If it told me that’s why I wasn’t able to connect to the dumb thing that wouldn’t be as big of a problem but it sat there for 10 minutes acting like it was setting the device up and then it told me to restart the device and try again. Which I did, and the same thing happened. So then I tried setting up in a room with better signal and there it finally worked. The app is SO SLOW, oh my god it’s like waiting for paint to dry. Tell me why changing a setting on your “favorites” takes like 30 seconds to save? I’m not a very patient person, I’ll admit that BUT this thing costs 70 bucks. For 70 bucks I should not have to wait longer than a blink of an eye just to change a setting. And not to mention they want to steal even MORE of your lunch money by pestering you about buying a membership for 5 dollars a month. 70 dollars is already insane but to charge 50 bucks a year additionally is completely ridiculous. Pros- the lighting is nice, and it does have great brown/white noise. In conclusion if you do not have high speed internet don’t even bother

Frustrating!. We want to love our Hatch+ so much, but unfortunately it continuously drops WiFi after 1-2 days of use. After all the standard checks on the WiFi, app and unit. Power plug in. We have it changed by the company that sold it. Hoping above all that it works. It doesn’t. Same issue. Only fix for us is to reset it each 1-2 days, obviously that won’t do. The only answer online is that it doesn’t accept 5G WiFi. Please tell us this isn’t true. High end cox internet doesn’t offer 2.4ghz. Next Issue. Timer will work only if we have the unit turned off. Yet the webpage states if the unit is already turned on the timer will turn it off. - This isn’t the case for us. Last issue. This I’m hoping is a user error. We can’t delete no longer used Hatch’s off the main screen! Obviously with having to change out the hatch+ beforehand we have a dead hatch icon. I can’t find anywhere to delete it! For us. Giving it the weekend. If no luck. Back it goes and onto other brands that we don’t really want doing it’s job instead. Such a shame!

Don’t undownload the app. I recently got a new Wi-Fi Router, I had to switch all my devices over so when I tried my hatch, it wouldn’t connect. I tried everything, literally everything. All the trouble shooting, changing my Wi-Fi settings, password. So of course I tried to delete the app, nope. So I tried to delete my account, still nope but it’s weird bc it says it’s connected to the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi app but I can’t use the app. After a while it will connect to the time but I still can’t use the app. Apparently, if you delete the app & redownload it, that causes problems which is ridiculous bc sometimes you have to delete an app & redownload it. Also if you delete your account it might do the same reason. They don’t want anyone reselling them which is kinda strange so now I have a 100+ dollar clock that doesn’t do anything but show me the time.

App is making life with a baby harder, not easier. Please please please bring back auto connect!! For a product that is supposed to make your life easier, you have certainly made it at least 5x more difficult than before the update. It sounds silly, but when you open the app at least 10-12 times per day, and each time are made to wait to connect to the ONE device that I have before getting to turn on/off the sound machine or light, it becomes beyond frustrating. There are times that I need more light quickly in the nursery and are unable to do so with the hatch. I also don’t have the free hands to use the manual buttons on the bottom of the machine when juggling an infant. At least 50% of the time the app doesn’t find my device in the first place, and I have to exit out and re-enter before finding it. PLEASE fix the connecting issue!! It is enough to make me stop using the product.

Thankful for my Hatch. I had my daughter a month ago. This means she’s still in my room sleeping beside my bed. At night instead of sleeping with the very bright tv or turning the light on to check on her, I use my Hatch. So helpful for this new mom, who wakes up constantly to check on the baby. Recently I have noticed she like to watch things too so I set my Hatch on the color changing mode & she’ll watch it until she goes to sleep & I watch her until she does. I have only one suggestion. The app needs a widget. Instead of having to open the app it would be nice to just have the widget for a quick turn on/off. The widget could consist of the top 3 favorites for easy access. As a parent simplifying things is always handy. M. Lane

The absolute worst app!!!. What happened?!? I wish I could give it 0 stars. I was such a huge fan of this nightlight when it was given to me at my baby shower back in 2018. I was telling all my mommy friends how it was one of my favorite baby products. But the app makes it beyond frustrating and I’m ready to toss it. The app either struggles to connect to my device, or kicks me off the main screen to change the color/volume the second I get in. We live in a busy neighborhood, so there are times I need to turn the volume up before it wakes up my son. Naturally, I don’t want to leave it on a high volume all night, but when I go to adjust it, I can’t. The most recent update did nothing to fix the issue. I just want the app to open to my connected device. I don’t have multiple devices to choose from, I don’t want to add a device, I don’t want to constantly connect my one device each time I open the app. Just keep it simple for the customers PLEASE!!!!

No more phone in bedroom. Got this as an alarm clock that could wake me with nature sounds and sunlight. I don’t use the subscription and there’s still enough sounds to choose from. Keeps my phone out of my bedroom and now I have slowly worked up to reading for an hour every night. The automatic bedtime routine and white noise are great. The fact that I can automatically have the clock light turn off entirely is a huge bonus. I love the customization in the app, from every sound and light, to whether things happen on their own or at the tap of a finger. 9/10. One point taken off for the dumb logo on the front, but I’ll find some sugru or something to put over that.

Updated review - Not working. Update- I used the online customer service form and they are amazing. They could see that I’m having issues with my Hatch and are sending me an upgrade replacement for free. Hoping they’ve fixed the bugs, but really appreciate the quick response and I know they’ll stand behind the replacement too. I’ve had this for 2 months and loved it until it got glitchy. The sound was cutting in and out so I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. Now I can’t access it, I can’t sign in to the app and the Hatch won’t find the Wi-Fi. I contacted support and haven’t gotten any response. I have a very expensive paper weight now. Not happy.

We love our Hatch Baby Rest!. We bought the Hatch Baby Rest when our youngest of four was born 9 months ago. It has been the perfect sound machine/night light. We are so appreciative that both features are adjustable, and the ability to make the changes from our phones has been a game changer. We liked our first Hatch Baby Rest so much that we bought a couple more for our other kids’ rooms. With our older kids, we use the Rest as an “OK to Wake” and alarm clock, with white noise at night and a green light/birds chirping when it’s time to wake. I agree that it would be really nice to be able to play music from another source (who doesn’t like a dance party while getting ready for school?), but it is otherwise perfect!

Great product!. The Hatch Baby Rest was a god send for my wife and I. Our daughter was transitioning into her “big girl bed” and was struggling to understand staying in bed. My wife did some research and found Hatch Baby Rest, so we immediately bought it the next day. We began teaching our daughter about the colors and sounds to help her understand when it’s time to sleep and when it’s time to wake up. She caught on quick and we’ve had many nights of great sleep since! The only issue we’ve had is, recently, the unit’s sound seems to lower and then go back to the programmed setting at random times during the night. My wife reached out to their support and they responded very prompt and professionally. We were sent a new unit with a prepaid return label. All of this happened over the course of 3 days, which is fantastic customer service! One feature my wife and I would love to see added in the future is a backup battery of some sort. In the case of a power outage it would be great if the unit was not interrupted. Overall my wife and I love Hatch Baby Rest and have been recommending it to all of our friends. -Derek

I thank everyone so I love how that we will work on the kids so. I just don’t need anything for a while I love you so much I love all you and your kids are going to have ggfhcg with us all over our house this year we have to look for it a bit but so we will have it done before you get here so we can come grab a couple things we have a lot more to help us to help for help or not so much love it all good things to get together for now but I’m still in a bad situation so I’m hoping we’ll see what time you want us there for us thanks love love and merry love to everyone and happy you doing this for us thanks love love to love you so sweet baby baby love and merry love to see ya again thank ya again and happy for everyone thank everyone so sorry I didn’t even bother with it but I’m so grateful I am

I'm done with Hatch. I previously reviewed this as basically good but limited, but now I'm having frequent problems with my alarm even going off at all. It got to where I had to use my phone as a backup alarm, which defeats the purpose of the Hatch. It's also disappointing that there's STILL hardly any content with the subscription I was paying for on top of the initial cost of the Hatch. When you're subscribing to a service, there's a reasonable expectation of continued content updates, not just access to the same handful of sounds forever. Anyway, I have replaced my Hatch with a significantly cheaper alarm that offers more features without a subscription fee. I can use it with my own content and customize it with an app that doesn't take 5 seconds to respond to every tap if it responds at all. These are pretty basic requirements, and I don't know why Hatch can't get it together.

Minor Inconveniences Are a Daily Hassle. First I will say that I love being able to schedule our baby’s nap times and bedtime so that the sound machine automatically turns on and I can just go in and lay him down. However, I agree with others that when I need to make adjustments the app seems “behind the times.” Too many steps to get to my baby’s programmed settings and sometimes those settings are very slow to load which allows time for my phone to become a distraction to my baby and impede the entire process of laying him down or keeping him asleep. Also if I change the programmed settings during one of his naps to extend the time the sound machine is running, the app doesn’t follow the new settings. So the sound machine turns off when I want my baby to keep sleeping and I have to open the app to turn it back on or my baby wakes up and the nap has to end. So many improvements needed to this app.

Okay but need deeper sound options. I have a high maintenance baby, and white noise to help during the witching hour and her bedtime routine is a must. I bought the hatch because of the options for programming and the various light features. Unfortunately, I find myself returning to a white noise app using a small speaker because the sound options are so much better. Seems like the hatch sounds all sound a bit harsh and/or mechanical (the static sound is headache inducing, maybe something to do with the sound frequencies). Brown noise (on white noise apps) works best for my daughter—it’s a deep continuous sound that even helps me sleep. The dryer sound option on the hatch is the closest I can find, but I have to keep volume low because somethings not quite right. Maybe the designers need to revisit the sound programming, because the white noise options are “scratchy” sounding. Deeper sounds the encourage deep sleep would definitely help. Then I could recommend this item.

Can’t even set it up, returning in the morning. I was really excited about this alarm clock. But I’ve spent 40 minutes trying to connect it to wifi and no matter what I do I get the same error message. Our wifi is fully functional and high speed. No other devices are having issues. Our wifi doesn’t have any special characters that somehow don’t make it compatible with this app (which is a whole other topic). I held this thing progressively closer to the router, there is no way to bring it closer without fusing them as one. It’s absurd that a clock that costs $140 even needs wifi AND Bluetooth AND its own app to fully function but if you’re going to force me to go through all those steps after I pay you a ton of money the least you can do is give me a consistent experience. Money aside, this is such a waste of resources to make thousands of these just so they get thrown away or returned and discarded by people because they don’t work properly.

Great Idea but Needs Some Improvements. I received the Hatch for Christmas and have used it regularly for several months. I really like the idea—the calm wake up routine is wonderful. However there are a few very minor improvements that could make this product and app so much better. First there needs to be a fade in and out feature. The transition from the Unwind routine to the Sleep routine is quite abrupt and when my Sleep routine ends in the middle of the night it just stops. I’ve actually been woken up several times because of how abruptly it stops. Secondly while there are more Unwind routines than I’ll ever get through I was disappointed with the lack of Sleep options. How about Wind in Trees or Crickets or Frogs or Dryer? There needs to be more development of the Sleep options.

I love it but…. Can I just start off by saying how much I love this sunset alarm clock. This is the best thing that I invested in by far this year. I don’t use this everyday. But when I do use it, I fall in love with it even more especially when I wake up to my sunset alarm that I have it set too. But the only thing that I don’t like about the app is that it doesn’t have a single day feature for the alarm. It would say “every Tuesday” or whateva day u choose to put. I I mean I might wanna use it every Tuesday and I might wanna have the same time set for it every Tuesday. This is just an example. But hopefully u get what I’m trying to say. So I hope u can change this in the app. But other then that I love the app. one thing I’ve been loving so far is the bedtime routine that u can set. ok that is all for now.

We love our Hatch and the Customer Service!!!!. We have been using our hatch for 5 months now and we absolutely love it! My little one cannot sleep without it, and I sleep better with it on too. It had some issues with sound and staying connected to the app and hatch recognized the problem and promptly sent us a new one! Talk about customer service!!!! The app is so easy to use and works pretty much flawlessly, minus the aforementioned issue that they corrected. My only request would be an option to add music. Currently we use a separate speaker to play soothing music along with the white noise to help our daughter sleep. I would love if some sort of sound layer was an option! I honestly have no complaints about the product and I highly recommend it!!!! Thank you for an amazing product!!! ~Desirae

Not a Seamless App Experience. When you open this app, you are not automatically connected to your device controls. You have to “select a device.” For people with only one (which I assume is the majority of users) this is cumbersome and wastes precious seconds when trying to get a baby/child to sleep. The initial page itself takes forever to load and sometimes, my device isn’t even there, though I’m standing right next to it, and I have to close the app completely before I can get to it. Then once selected, it takes more time to load the actual controls to my device. This is a huge flaw. It makes me wish I had just purchased a cheaper device as this is not the seamless experience you would expect for a “high quality” product. There should be an option for users with only one device to be taken directly to that device for quicker/easier access.

Best gift ever!. Let me start by saying I’m super cheap. So when I got this as a baby shower gift, I was elated. But I was also a little skeptical. Sometimes the “best products” are just that because they’re trendy or brand name. But this is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever received. The app is so easy to use and can be controlled from anywhere in my house so I can have it ready by the time I put the baby down, it’s got so many great functions and the sounds don’t sound artificial at all! I recommend this for every mama or dad to be or even if you just want a sound machine slash nightlight because even though you’re an adult, you’re still a little afraid of the dark…like me. 10 out of 10 recommend!

Started off very good, now I think I hate it?. Our original first gen rest was great, until it just randomly stopped working after less than a year. There’s no quick way to contact support so I went out and bought a new one which is a gen 2. Firstly, it was very difficult to setup while at a hotel and then was very confusing to reconnect to wifi at home and I work in IT. Secondly, I can’t create a nap routine for my 1 year old and have to instead manually turn on a setting each day. Lastly, I can’t preview or hear any sounds on the Rest for either the nighttime or morning beacons. It’s almost like the company went away from what made them successful in the first place and is now focused on making as much money as possible from subscriptions and extra sounds instead of providing a great product. Not sure if I will continue using them or recommend them to other parents.

App is USELESS. I’ve never really left reviews before but I can’t help myself. We have 2 Rest+, one in each child’s room to use as the sound machine but also as the audio monitor. The addition of the audio monitor is why we purchased these in the first place. It does not matter what I do, this app refuses to let me use the audio monitor 85-90% of the time. I could be in my child’s room, I could be next to the router for the WiFi, it does not make a difference. I am constantly told by the app to ‘check my connection’. I have full WiFi on my phone when I open the app!! I don’t understand how this is even being sold as a usable audio monitor and how it is still so, so awful with SO MANY poor reviews regarding the app. It’s infuriating. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, I have reset my phone, I have moved rooms, I have done everything I can think of but it doesn’t matter because the issue is not on my end, it’s the app. Please make an app that actually works, or stop selling this product as an audio monitor when it doesn’t work.

High price for lack of features in app. With this being a $60 sound machine, I was expecting there to be many options of personalization within the app. The positive is that it is a good quality sound machine. There is plenty of variation in the types of sounds, lights and volume (we rarely have it all the way up since it’s such good quality with the volume range). Negative, the sounds don’t fade from one to the other. It sounds like it will when you’re testing it out, but when setting timers they just switch one directly to the other. I wish there was a fade option to that had as much variation in speed and frequency (in case you didn’t want to jolt your kid out of their beds). Secondly, you can’t even change the way time is within the app. We are a military family so a 24hr clock is preferred. Within the app, you’re unable to customize anything. The clock shows like a normal one just with 0s in front of it (ex. 0742pm).

Missing Flexibility. I like it overall, but the one thing that frustrates me is the “programs” function. We have them set for one program to end at 7:00am and the next to start at 7:00am, so our kid wakes up to a change in light and noise. But sometimes, he’s sleeping hard and he needs the extra, so we want the first program to go beyond 7:00am. It’s easy enough to turn off the second program, but you can’t edit a program while it’s running. If I want to extend it to 7:30am, I would have had to do it the night before, before the program started. I’d love to see that changed so that I have the flexibility to make changes that will live update instead of having to wait for the program to end.

App easy to use, missing 2 features. App is easy to use and customize favorites and schedules. Overall very happy. Two features I wish it had: 1) ability to name favorites- i use different favorites for day time naps, evening naps, and one for soothing an overwhelmed baby. It’s be nice to label them so when someone else needs to use it, they know which setting is which. 2) I also wish this had an Apple Watch component. Mainly to turn on/off, switch between favorites, and control the brightness and volume. If I leave my phone in another room and I’m holding a baby, I can control the hatch without disturbing the baby. Or if I need to change the settings while she’s crying I could. It’d be nice to be able to do that from my watch.

Should have some free channels available. I’m a little disappointed at the limited amount of content for the Restore. I’m my home, we already had Philips hue lights installed and set up along with Google Nest assistants, so we have much of the functionality from Hatch already. However, I wanted something I could not control with voice and had more dedicated sleep/wake features. I feel that Channels make the biggest difference here. However, all channels content is behind a $50/year membership. I just cannot justify the price of the device plus the membership. Maybe this isn’t the device for me. Or maybe Hatch could add some more free content for device owners without having to subscribe to a membership. That, or make the membership less costly. As it is, I don’t think it’s worth the cost.

Great product that just needs some adjustments.. I have had the rest hatch for a week and am a big fan of the night light portion. The sound machine is nice but could use some tweeting. I would like a few more pre-programmed sounds to be available. My son loves the frog/bog noises on his fisher price rock and play but no sound like that one is available on this app. We are trying to transition completely away from the rock and play but can’t completely because that is still his favorite noise to sleep to. I would also love be ability to play my own music that is on my phone through the rest. Another feature I would like to see added is the ability to cycle through a couple noises while in the bedtime program. Thanks for the consideration and for a neat night light/sound machine!

LOVE the product, HATE the app. Our Hatch sound machine is our lifeline for getting our 13 month old to sleep. We have a small row home in the city so you can hear EVERYTHING from my son’s room. Enter, the Hatch. It’s incredible, he’s able to sleep even when we have guests over, the dog is barking, or it’s storming outside. However, I absolutely HATE the app and the fact that it requires Wifi. We constantly have issues with the app not loading, having to shut the device down to attempt to reconnect, the app logging us out randomly, having to uninstall and reinstall the app due to unknown errors, the list goes on. It’s become such a pain as of late that I’m actually looking at other sound machines that don’t require an app or wifi connection. When the Hatch works, it’s wonderful. The issue is that it’s unpredictable so I think we’d be better off with a product we can count on to work consistently.
