😝. This new update is a huge step backwards. What a disaster. Maybe you shouldn’t have spent the money on more cameras.

Not working, login fails. Loaded the update on 2/19/24. Now I can’t log in. Idaho uses one login for all of state government, so I am not going to change my password. Planning a trip over two mountain passes tomorrow. Oh well, I’ll check and see if I can still get to the traffic cameras at the passes.

Works great. I’ve had no issues with the app and it’s worked great so far.

Missing clear road closure. This really needs a clear marking on closed roads. The only way to know if the road is closed is to zoom in until the orange bubble differentiates down to a small closure sign. This makes the app almost worthless. I’m looking at the map with I15 right now. The road is closed due to blowing and drifting snow but the color code is gray for good.

Useless. I don’t understand who thinks it’s ‘good enough’ to have information that is not real time. I tried the new app and the old one was better. That being said the old one was also useless because the information was usually old. I just deleted the new app and went to the website. It was easier to get to the info I was looking for BUT it was 5 hours old. Useless. If you want an example of what a good, functional road condition website can look like go to wyoroad.info. I’m mentioning it to prove it can be done. Are you listening, Idaho? REAL TIME INFO IS POSSIBLE!

Log-in doesn’t work. App won’t let me log in. Online it’s fine, no restrictions there. App says account is locked which doesn’t makes sense. 1 star for broken app.

Idahobeef. The update is absolutely terrible!! Can’t clearly see closed roads, camera locations don’t show up etc. don’t waste time looking at it. Your better off to go to the weather service on Fb to see road conditions and closures. They didn’t need to fix something that’s wasn’t broken!

Too hard. We’ll this app just got worse the old map was so much better sometimes you go back to K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid )

App not improved. The new app does not have detailed reports like the old one. I can’t choose an area and get reports on my route whether the roads are dry, wet, slushy, Icey snow covered or dry. Just colored routes that are color coded, good, fair, difficult or NO REPORT! It’s as if the app went old school and 511 is too lazy to issue a detailed report. I wish the old app was still up! I dislike the new one.

Garbage. Useless. Why is it so difficult to navigate? This app is absolutely terrible.

Worse than useless!. The road conditions are so out of date (more than 6 hours!) that the conditions can be misleading when conditions are changing - which misleads the user of the App. One might think it’s fine to drive US-20 in Island Park based on the road conditions on the map but if you look on the webcams (which are often as much as 30 minutes old) you can see a snow covered road and low visibility. This app needs an overhaul as it is clearly not getting good data - and far less data is available than the previous App. This is BIG step backward for motorist safety in Idaho.

Lots of work to even get it close to what it was. First of all, the log in, ridiculous. I don’t want another app to send me alerts or changes when any little thing happens. I don’t want to take the time to set up all the stuff when I just want to see what the roads look like. The weather stations on the app only give you air temp and relative humidity which is pretty much useless, on the website you get about 20 lines of data, and can see road temp, road friction, water state, etc. I am currently not using the app and am instead looking at 511 on my phones web browser. You need to bridge the gap if you want the app being used.

The update is ridiculous. Fix the app! Not useful!

Doesn’t update map. I’m still showing US20 closed from Ashton to Montana. Even tried putting in a destination. Has been almost a week since the closure. Can’t imagine how this got through testing. Old app was 100 times better because it actually worked. Gets one star because I couldn’t give it zero.

Seriously !?!?!?. What a worthless app. Especially when people need it… closures all over, crashes, wrecks, shelter in place… and none of this shows up on this app.. not obviously anyway… apparently, you have to stand on your left foot while facing Mecca… slowly select the app and open it… if your lucky, you may be able to log in.. if not… do something else cause you’re wasting your time… if you can get in.. then you have the privilege of clicking on various options which allegedly show you closed roads… riigghhhttt…, the roads are marked one of a couple of ways… gray for good, blue for fair, purple for difficult and yellow for no report… closed roads are indicated only if you sign up… then you’ll see a little red “dot”… somewhere along the road you’re looking at… it may or may not be on the screen, visible to you in your area of selection… in Victor for example… it shows the red dot in Idaho Falls… and then it gets mixed up with the little signs in the town itself… unless you zoom out, zoom in, click on the little red dot.. you want know much.. very poor design. And a closer look at all the fine print, discloses what may be the real intent of this app… read all the things they want access to… it’s a data miner. It has more permissions than most games out there. Now I get it.. they could care less you can’t easily disseminate a RED closed road.. you’re distracted so you don’t read the fine print… time to call the governor and ask about this from a fiscal standpoint… looks like there were some serious mistakes I’m going with this app.. and I’ll guarantee that Idaho taxpayers are footing the bill. We should get what we need… not what someone wants… especially the data mining aspect of this app. They can’t change what they’ll be asking for… look at it closely. Then please… take a couple of minutes to give your own review here… they need a lot more input.. or this is what we end up with😅

Cannot Log into App. Was excited to see what this new and improved app was all about. I went ahead and downloaded and created a new account. This process uses the website to generate the account and everything went well. When the account was set up, and all the email addresses and phone numbers were successfully verified, I tried to login using only the new app (the old app was completely removed). The new app would just return “Login Failed”. I uninstalled and reinstalled it after a fresh reboot and the same problem occurred. I changed my password via the Forgot My Password feature on the app which again funneled me through the website to reset. Although the new password was successfully reset, I still cannot log in on the app. I can log in without any issues on the website using the same credentials. It is quick and easy to load and navigate. I suppose one could simply use the web app to access these new features but then why bother with a new app? Hope others have better luck!

HORRIBLE & DANGEROUS. I literally DESPISE the new app update. A few months ago I could rely on Idaho 511 to give me a good idea of what my everyday drive would look like from Grace to Pocatello. Now, everyday it shows that the roads are safe when the roads are literally treacherous & people are driving literally 30 mph on the freeway. I am literally so angry because it makes me feel like the roads should be good when I really should just call into work because the roads are SO BAD. This was the worst thing to ever happen to Idaho 511, especially this winter. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE change it back 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Owner Operator. The new 511 upgrade is terrible. What happened To being able to go from Camera to Camera to Camera down the freeway. Also not able to enlarge the road views at all. TERRIBLE UPGRADE!!!

New app and online system. The new online and app to me are not improved, it does not give the info I was used to having, like when the roads were either crap or closed it would turn the cameras red and give you nice information, now it’s just a guess on what’s going on, be nice to go back to the old version.

Older version is bettah!. Can’t zoom in on cameras anymore. Can’t do alot of stuff anymore. Why?!?!?!

DOES NOT UPDATE!. ITD DOESNT UPDATE ROAD REPORTS. Interstate shut down for 3 hours and the app says nothing. This app is a waste of funding and time

Terrible update. This app is downright dangerous. We looked at hwy 55 tonight before driving back from McCall to Boise and the app showed the roads as all green. And there are no longer any camera views available from within the app to confirm conditions. Suffice to say, we had a long and surprising drive home on snow packed roads in whiteout conditions. We would have altered our plans for safer conditions had we been able to get reliable info from this app. Delete it!!

This app is DANGEROUS!!. The new app and website are TERRIBLE & DANGEROUS!! It doesn’t show road closures unless you zoom in super close and even then, it is a tiny caution icon you could miss easily. It used to show closed roads in red the entire length of the closure. Now, it just tells mile marker posts and who has those memorized?!?!😡 For people who use 511 daily to get in and out of our tiny valley safely, this app is dangerous!!! Please change it back!!!

Outdated App. The old app was better than this new update. Road conditions are not updated in real time. For instance, it is still showing interstate 15 closed from Idaho Falls to the Montana border when it opened 16 hours ago. Truck drivers are sitting at truck stops waiting for the roads to open according to your map - when in all actuality they were already open. The road conditions are not accurate since the inception of the “improved” app. Get your money back and have a competent company remake the app, or better yet bring the old version back.

Setback.. So the previous app was a lot better at quickly knowing when roads are closed and finding information. Now you need to locate the little “closed” sign. Can we go back to making the whole road red when closed?

Not. This system has bugged out for the 4th time since my last poor rating! I cannot get my route to work. Can’t we just keep this simple for all? Why must we sign in everytime we try to use this… let’s go back to a simplistic system that works for all and not just IT people

Does not show road closures. Routing around traffic? Maybe ok. But it routes over the demolished Loggee Creek bridge.

Road closures not on map. The map doesn’t show road closures unless you put in a destination. The old app was way more useful and was updated better than this app. Please go back to what works.

Nope, no better luck…. The app my be good but the login process doesn’t work. Locked out of my own account with no way—other than going online and deleting g my profile—of getting back in. It works as a guest login, but I’d really like to have the options of saving my preferences and push notifications of local road conditions. Maybe next time… Oh, and weather by Environment Canada?!? C’mon, really?!? I’m not knocking Canada, just don’t understand why (…how or IF…) they’d have radar & weather coverage in the US.

New 511. Is terrible. I’m not one to write reviews ever, but this is so frustratingly horrible I can’t keep quiet. I’ve deleted the old and re-upped the new one twice. It’s a struggle to get accurate info. Boooooo.

Limited Value. I can sign into the website but not the app, which apparently means I don't receive notifications through the app of road closures like the one I'm sitting in right now.

Idaho Fail. App disappoints in almost every way. Although it can be useful for looking at traffic cameras along a chosen route, the route finding function and reporting functions are completely non functional. It will provide messages that there are issues along your chosen route, but when you try to determine what those issues are you are not given any information whatsoever, as in, no issues will even be displayed along your route, they are just ghost messages. You will then be provided these warnings daily for the next several weeks, even though you long ago completed your route. The only way to end them is to delete the app.

Doesn’t work-please fix!. The new app is continually having issues, I can’t view anything. Not a great time to try to update in the winter when we most need this app!

Won’t load! Needs A LOT of work. Deleted/reloaded and nothing. iPhone loads but ipad won’t no matter what I try. Very frustrating.

Completely gutted, no longer usable. Prior to this “update” (it is in fact a whole new app, the old one was forcibly killed and removed from the appstore), the app was fine. UX was a little clunky but everything worked: reliable real-time info, camera access, weather advisories. As of the current update, it is a complete dumpster fire. Why must I verify yet another burner email to log in to a road conditions map? Why are weather advisories (arguably the most important feature) no longer shown by affected region, but a tiny invisible dot? Why is every UX element animated? Why is everything marked with inscrutable symbolic icons instead of words? I should not have to decipher hieroglyphics to pull up a [EXPLETIVE CENSORED] camera view. It continues: all the icons are too small. There are too many icons on the map to see the actual road, even with all irrelevant layers turned off. There is no ability to change the map mode (I.e. satellite image). The “weather radar” feature causes my phone to go into rave mode, flashing random colors across the screen and making the map unreadable. But hey, I can log in so that the IT subcontractor who made this revolting garbage scow can sell my UUID and geoloc data, and there are hideo— I mean, lovely dancing Alegria cartoons splattered all over the place. It’s just like a Facebook advertisement! The future is now! I’m so excited, I’ll drive off a bridge in celebration! In conclusion, the individuals at ID DOT responsible for this digital travesty should be tried at the Hague for crimes against humanity.

Garbage. The app is garbage, super difficult to login, keeps forgetting who I am. Then using the app is even worse. I don’t need this app to give me directions I need it to report weather, closures accidents and the like. The old app I used to be able to do all this super easy. I can’t figure out how to do any of this now beside directions (I have google maps, Apple Maps and Waze for this). Don’t bother with this app it is garbage.

Missing weather stations from old app. New version is missing weather stations which would also show if road was slick or wet

Update made it useless for road conditions. I have used this app for years to know be aware of the road conditions as i travel around southeast Idaho for work every day. Due to the latest update, the app is now useless.

Who knows anymore if the roads closed. Since the app updated its terrible. The road will close but only show a dot on one end of it. I live near where hwy 33 closes and since the update there’s a lot of people that don’t realize the roads closed until they run into the arm. Please fix and show the entire portion that’s closed red again.

Worthless. This is worthless. Doesn’t give any detail and what little bit of info I got was completely wrong. Deleted it. Was not worth it.

Road pics cannot be expanded. The old app would allow me to expand the pictures to better see road conditions. Other issues also. Not a big fan of this new app.

Terrible. Idaho should get it’s money back / you get ripped off in this product. This is not designed for the user to use - really clumsy. Inaccurate. Web cam pages are hard to read - low contrast black letters on dark gray background. Stupid stuff that is so basic to avoid. Worse, they ruined the web based pages too. Bring back to old internet website and old app.
