The App is fine. The courses, not all of them. There are many good courses. I'm disappointed with the Spanish language course with the subtitle "How to understand and speak a foreign language." There is so insight offered for learning a foreign language. It is just a standard fast pace Spanish class with fast drills. If you've struggled, this course will reinforce your conviction that you cannot learn a foreign language. And. Make sure you remember your college English grammar. If you don't remember what future perfect tense is in English, you won't be in a position to use it in Spanish.

They should take a course in App Design. Signed up for Great Courses and downloaded a bunch of lectures to occupy me on a 6 hour flight. I get on the flight l, clear 10,000 feet and turn to my phone to use my “offline content” and am asked to login. Of course I’m offline so when I try to login I’m told I need to be online. I’ve pulled my company benefit support for Great Courses because it is unavailable at the time when it’s the most useful. Teacher heal thyself… UPDATE after hearing back from their developers via the App Store they provided a generic answer that didn’t actually solve the problem. Now their developers did reach out to me directly and provide a better answer. That may work, and I will check on my next flight but the answer that was posted here by them was totally useless it directed me to a generic FAQ. Reammt what they should do is update the FAQ to answer my specific question as theg answered it in the back channel. That would be more useful

Requires Internet connection to view downloaded lectures. What's the point in downloading a lecture to view off-line if you can't watch it off-line? You can't even get past the splash screen unless you're connected to the Internet. Even if you start viewing a downloaded lecture while connected to the Internet, go out of range, and come back into range, the screen goes dim with a pop up notice "we noticed you are back online – – updating your app". Meanwhile you have lost control of the application with no ability to pause, go back 10 seconds, or anything until the update is complete. And this will happen repeatedly if you go in and out of range of an Internet connection. In short, the download function is a nice idea but doesn't function. Only useful for streaming.

Buyer Beware!. Despite providing good content, this organization has a unintuitive app and zero customer support. I got the download for two classes in December but could not them to import them into the app. Despite extensively working through the app on my phone I decided to call customer support. The first time I waited on hold for 45 minutes and there was no answer. The second time I waited for 35 minutes and there was no answer. When I emailed customer support, I got a response after 10 days. When I explain the situation in more detail over email, the customer service rep just disappeared and never responded back. We are basically forced to go to the credit card company and get a refund for the purchase. Strangely enough however, when you call In to give them more money to make a purchase (which I tried only to get a human on the phone) one gets a person on the phone right away. But when they transfer you over to Technical Support, there is no one there - imagine that! So buyer beware! Unless you mail order something from them, get ready for a scam, a refund scenario or no response. What this company has in great content is deeply overshadowed by zero customer support and a lack of concern for its customers.

Should be called Amazing Courses!. I have been a customer since 2014 and own about a dozen courses. I always choose audio and have listened to most of them many times over. I always learn something new and can apply this knowledge in my life or work. I mostly use the app and am grateful for it. I rarely have trouble with it and I love that my new content shows up immediately. Thank you, TC, for making it possible to learn from renowned experts on the go. I now look forward to my commute!

Unusable. I am already using the Roku app, but when I tried to use the app from the App Store it refuses to let me sign in. I don’t remember setting up the account, but when I initially tried I got an error message “user with e-mail already exists…” or something similar. So, I tried to use “forgot password”, but only get a different error message. It’s probably just as well, as the Roku app is $7 a month. From I can tell, to access a course like “Biblical Hebrew” it’s $340, with the only additional benefit of being able to download the PDF coursebook, which is why I was interested in the app for my iPad. Even if I could afford the $340 it’s impossible to complete the transaction if your app is busted. That’s pretty inexcusable for a 4 year old app, in my opinion.

App still needs improvements. I love the content, but the app still needs improvement. Most of these should be easily fixable. 1) The UI needs to be better. The controls for fast forward and rewind are too close to other buttons. Hence, I keep going to the previous lecture instead of just rewinding. Similarly, it is really hard to move the playhead when playing audio courses. Please pay attention to small, easily fixable details to make user experience more pleasant. 2) The app is very slow to start and needs Internet connection (even if I have downloaded the content ahead of time). I need to open the app with Internet connection until I can access my courses. This is a major annoyance and the primary reason for my low rating. Often, I try to watch the content when commuting with poor internet connectivity (most urban public transportation nws). If you really need to authenticate the user, do it on a schedule and don't force the user to authenticate when they open the app every time. 3) For some reason, the app takes up lot of space even after I delete all the downloaded videos. I have a lot courses and I had to delete the app and reinstall to really free up the space. Please ensure that space is freed up after the user deletes the video (or fix whatever issue that is causing this problem). I love the content, but the app needs to improve.

Does what it needs to - needs some improvements. Ok things: Plays the recordings, allows me to replay them with a touch, rewind / fast forward a little or a lot with a button or slide line. Has Volume control or can be done with the phone vol buttons. Shows me all my downloads when I log on to the app. Issues: I can pause and play and adjust sound from the "front / locked screen" when my phone times out BUT I would really like to be able to fast forward and rewind from that same locked screen rather having to unlock my phone to access those features.

Changes to The Great Courses. I signed up during the trail period and watched some amazing videos. I paid for the year subscription then one day found I could no longer access the content. The app on Roku and my devices are not even there. I called my credit card co and got the number to contact them directly. The Great Courses Plus is now WONDRIUM. I’m not thrilled with the way the content is arranged but I was reassured that everything from the former app is still available, as well as additional content at no additional charge.

This app is buggy and not user friendly. When I try to use the app my previously downloaded lectures do not appear. I cannot access them. I’ve had to delete and redownload the app several times. Any of my courses I’ve purchased just appear blank when I try to listen to them. Also when I use the search function all it ever does is show my every course I have. It doesn’t actually...search. There’s also no easy way to just view what lectures are currently downloaded rather than EVERY course you have, with “recent downloads” just listed first. I love the great courses but I’d actually like to be able to listen to them...

Has something changed?. I love TGC. I ventured into TGCPlus territory for awhile, but found the content offerings less interesting. So, I’m back to the original app. However, it is now pausing the playback of my audio downloads when I don’t have the app as the current screen, or when the phone goes into inactive mode. I try to press play from the lock screen, but it doesn’t work. I can’t have my phone open to the app screen all the time. It will drain the battery quickly and I can’t do any multi-tasking. Also, that doesn’t even work, unless I set my phone to not go inactive after a couple minutes. I swear this wasn’t an issue before. What gives?

Great content but app needs work. I love the wide selection of course offerings, you can learn quite a bit in half hour blocks and each course runs in average between 24 and 34 lectures. I’ve learned about Japan, grammar, art history, literature, geology to name but a few. My disappointments are with the downloads. You absolutely must download over Wifi in my case, I’m going out of state where I won’t have WiFi and started to download a 34 module course this morning on my IPhone. Courses take a long time to download. I hit the pause button when I left the house but the app started downloading in my car and ate through 8 GBs of data. You can turn off data from your phone to only use data, but I thought since I hit the pause button I’d be safe. Well, like the Great Courses, there’s a learning curve....I otherwise highly recommend the Great Courses.

Great Content When They Let You Access It. I purchased and downloaded a full course, knowing I was going to be in the backcountry out of cell service and unable to stream. When I went to the app to listen to the downloaded material, I was prompted for a login, which of course didn’t work because I had no connection, so I couldn’t get to my downloads (this is after repeated tries). It all worked fine on return to civilization, but the point of a download is precisely to be able to get to it if you don’t have internet. With all the quality, free content out there, it seems pretty daft to create an app that prevents you from accessing courses you’ve paid for and downloaded.

Math Teacher. I teach math at the high school level. The class I teach is intended for upperclassmen who didn't perform well enough to move into more advanced math classes. I use the lectures on the history of math as a springboard into writing assignments and projects centered on the topics covered. The students, who by their own designation, initially have no interest in mathematics, are able to see it in a more whole and less abstract sense and for most students so far the switch is flipped and the interest is instantaneous. This is an amazing resource that I'm able to use for the real good of my students. Thank you so much for making this product.

Opaque “Casting to TV” ruins Airplay function. The app overall is firmly mediocre in performance — frequently cannot download material, not particularly fast, has no way to transfer scores of courses I purchased on DVDs, frequently misbehaves by disconnecting or stopping. The most annoying is the opaque blackbox in the center of the screen covering up vital images and information telling me I am casting by Airplay to my Apple TV. The initial product is excellent. Too bad the delivery of the product is so flawed. They nailed the difficult part and botched the easy part. Hire software engineers as smart as your lecturers.

Great courses, frustrating app. The courses are great and when the app works it makes your commute the best part of the day. But the app needs help. All it needs to be great is a download and a play button. If those worked consistently I would be delighted. But downloads fail, hang, drop or just disappear. When you stop a lesson and start again it starts from a different place making it hard to keep track of where you are. They should get these basics right before they add marketing and optional features.

🧐. Well... it’s been about 3years since my last review so time for an update. The apps play button and screen menu keeps appearing and reappearing even if I am not touching the screen which is super annoying. I do love the great courses but there are major improvements to be made as far as sophistication, continuity, flow & ease of design, and navigation. It feels like they just took one or two design suggestions from a single millennial and just ran with that only one thing even after that millennial left. I know they’re trying to appeal to a certain audience and I respect that. But there is no harm in slight tweaking.

Lectures good, app bad. The lectures for The Great Courses are pretty good (based on just one that I'm working through). However, there are some issues. In the course "Understanding Quantum Mechanics" there is a place where the text displayed on the screen is not about what the professer is talking about. On the other hand, the app for the iPhone needs serious improvement. The worst thing is that often the sound and video get out of sync, with the sound about 2 seconds behind the video. This makes it very hard to watch. It is not just that the lip-sync is off, but even the gestures don't make sense. Every so often the presentation spontaneously jumps back maybe 15 seconds. After this happens, the out of sync problem is almost always present.

Content Great, App Not so Much. I just started using the app even though we are longtime users of The Great Courses. I have been working on two different courses and neither of them keep my timestamp. One course jumps me back to an earlier time in the lecture and the other course acts as if I haven't watched any of the lecture at all and starts me back at zero. I have to make a mental note each time about where I left off. If I forget to do this, I have to go in and try to find my place, which is both time-consuming and annoying! In addition, the tab at the bottom of the screen, which appears when I first open the app asking if I want to resume my most recent lecture, does not work. I tap on it and tap on it and nothing happens. The pause, play and back/rewind tabs could be more responsive. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries before they register. I do like that the back/rewind tab is 10 seconds. Finally, it would be very, very helpful if users could bookmark places in a lecture where they may want to return later for further review.

Great Lectuers. Mobile App could be better. The app is made for young eyes or teenagers or perhaps on a big computer screen. I presume most people are at least in the 30s and if not older who use this app. So please make the buttons bigger. In fact, take a lesson from the audible app. The audible app has an automobile or car mode. That would be an outstanding an awesome addition to this app. Maybe this app works well on an iPad but it does not work well on an iPhone and certainly does not work very well when driving. But this is only because everything is too small. Make everything bigger and make an automobile or car mode like on the Audible app.

App crashes, no response from developer. The app crashes every time I try to play any of my purchased videos. I have reached out to customer service numerous times and have received no response . I am going to return the corresponding DVDs I purchased as soon as they arrive. There is a serious lack of customer support in general. Great Courses also doesn't respond to emails about physical purchases made through the website. (They will take your money however with no issue.) They advertise being able to watch your purchases right away when it is not true.

App needs work. I love the Great Courses and was happy to see the iPhone app. But it drives me nuts when I try to use the app in the car. First, I have to remember to download each lecture before I leave home, since I'm in a rural area and lose wifi/phone when I leave my house. Downloading, it spins and spins and finally downloads after I coax it a bit. Next, I'm in my car. I can't read the tiny white text on the black background. Gotta put on my reading glasses. Glasses on, I can read the text but I can't see to drive. Driving along, lecture finally playing, I sometimes want to go back a bit to re-hear something, but I have to put on my glasses and peer at the screen and aim a finger carefully at the tiny "back" symbol, but I really can't do that because I am driving. I'm afraid I'm going back to putting the lectures on an sd card to listen to them in my car. Seems a lot safer.

If you like audio don't bother. I really wanted to like this app. I Love the great courses I have bought many of them. I love listening to courses while I commute. Hearing them advertising on my favorite podcasts I wanted to support them. But if you think this will be like another podcast really don't bother. The audio always is syncing and cannot be downloaded independently. The video works great don't get me wrong, but this is useless when I don't have the screen unlocked and wont play the audio only. You need to switch the audio format which is terrible. Do they respond to my pleas for help I have left many comments that they say they are using to improve their product. Of course not. It really seems they totally half fasted it and just thought of they advertised on podcasts it would be okay.

Great way to consume information. I see everyone on here is complaining about how hard it is to use while driving, which makes me very concerned about what else they’re doing while driving. Yes, you need to download first if you live in a rural area. Yes, you can’t skip, stop, rewind, or fast forward easily while driving. You’re not supposed to! Put the phone down, people! The only true issue I have is the buttons are tiny, and even when I was home, sitting still, I had to try several times to make it understand I wanted to download. And I have fairly small fingers. That being said, it’s a really cool way to get these lectures. We spend most of our lives on the go, and I’m just not going to taking the time to stop and watch something or use my computer to listen. But I can easily finish a lecture in a day’s worth of car time with this app. Which is not so great for my wallet, granted, but a great way to consume information.

App works well on my older iPad. Unlike a previous reviewer, downloaded lectures work very well on my older iPad, regardless of whether I am connected to Internet or not. I load a few lectures whenever I travel. Streaming works well for me when on line. I very much prefer the lecturers who use a lot of visual aids. The Mind Bending math series and the Greek and Roman architecture series are excellent examples of this. Some of the history professors just stand up and talk and I have become extremely tired of just looking at them and the standard Great Courses lecture backdrop. With all of the art and photographs available the failure to enrich a history course with them is either laziness or arrogance.

Content is excellent, app is almost there.. I've been a fan of Teaching Company content for 10 years and am excited to have an app that gives me direct access to such excellent materials. The app works very well and is very stable. These little, infrequent problems keep it at 4 stars: I listen almost exclusively in my car. The app can be bit slow to startup which can be annoying when I'm in a hurry to hit the road. The interface to start, pause, or rewind lectures is kinda small. This can be a problem while I'm driving and want to control what I'm listening to. Integration with iPhone "lock" screen controls works, but lectures will sometimes go back in time when I use them. A lecture paused from the lock screen will sometimes start over or repeat sections of audio I've already heard. The app will occasionally cut off the last few seconds on the end of a lecture.

Great Content, Terrible Play Controls. I have been a big fan of the The Great Courses for years now. As for this app, I love having my courses available as downloads and via streaming. The app certainly is visually beautiful. For practical purposes, however, the now-playing interface falls badly short: the various controls (forward, back, pause, scrub) are far too small. Like others here, I have often accidentally restarted lectures or moved to a different spot. Please give us a simple now-playing display with large controls and the option to keep the device from going to sleep.

I Like It. I like the convenience of having courses on my phone ready to listen to in my car. I find the audio quality to be just about as good as on CD. I like how the app saves my last location and starts up from where I left off. I haven't had any problems with the way the app works. Whether or not there could be improvements to it, I leave that to some of the others who have already reviewed this app.

Great idea, poorly executed. The Great Courses deserve a better interface. It is actually quite lovely as apps go, and it does exactly what it says insofar as providing a convenient place for accessing your purchased material. However, the controls on this player are so tiny, they are practically unusable, as is the font. Maybe this app was designed for and by much younger users with sharper eyes and smaller fingers, but as a design engineer myself, I think it needs serious reworking, and testing within a broad population. Add to this there is no way to sort your courses, and I call this app a dud. Too bad. I love the Great Courses.

Better than 5 stars. First, I easily downloaded half my course onto my older iPad last night. 5 stars for that because internet connection is not always available. Then I started listening. Perfect audio and visual, easy to navigate, couldn't ask for anything better. I'd give 10/10 stars if I could, terrifically satisfied, now I'll start through the rest of my stacked up courses!

Great Courses / mediocre app. The app needs work. I own 377 courses from the teaching company. This app doesn't allow me to organize the courses into files. I would like to bundle the courses into categories so I could listen to the lectures in a logical sequence, but the app only lists courses in alphabetical order, most recent purchase, or most recently opened. They should offer other ways of categorizing the courses such as topics. Other problems with the app are the FF and Rewind are too close to other items, I can't tell you how many times I tried to rewind a bit, only bring it to the beginning or move to the next lecture. The quality of the lectures is excellent! Informative and interesting. Each lecture is just enough time to cover a topic without being too long. I can listen to a lecture going to and coming from work. Converting down time to productive time. Now I don't get frustrated with traffic. I wish they would just improve the app.

Not that great. The app gets the job done however it is rough around the edges. Occasionally it logs me out and I must log back in again. The downloads do not reliably finish one lecture and start another. Sometimes you have to actually start the next lecture by hand (not good for driving). It constantly tells you "Not online". Why? I know when I am on and off line. It's annoying because the message MUST be cleared before you can proceed. Just needlessly dumb. There is no easy way to go back to the lecture list within a course when you are in the middle of a lecture. Sometime I start a lecture and realize I heard it. I can then stop the lecture but can't get back to the original list of lectures except by shutting the whole thing down. Love the Teaching Company, but this app is barely usable.

Love the Great Courses. I've been listening to the Great Courses since 2001 (back then, on cassette tapes). They have all been wonderful and, since I teach in an interdisciplinary liberal arts program, invaluable in helping me get up to speed on content areas I'm less familiar with. (Some, though, I just listen to for pure pleasure!). The app is well-designed and makes it easy to listen while running or doing chores around the house.

Great Courses, weird payment and course use.. I got a subscription to the great courses via apple pay on my Apple TV. Created an account, no problem. Until I realized one did not have any k owl edges of the other. That’s not right. If you’re selling a watered down “watch only” deal, keep it cheap ($5 or less). Preferably nothing since anyone actually wanting to seriously take the course must then buy it at god forsaken prices. $289 for one course? I know it’s cheaper than college but it’s completely confusing and unclear advertising. Get your plans in order! And get things to an affordable price for Pete’s sake!!! S F M

Won’t work without a network connection. You figure if you download courses on your phone you will be able to watch them offline, like on a plane, right? Forget it. It won’t work. This is what will happen. You will download a bunch of course content, consuming memory on your iPhone. You’ll test it after turning on airplane mode and disconnecting from all networks and discover it works fine. You’ll board a plane and once airborne launch the app and have it demand you log in fresh, which you can’t do without a network. Nice. So you can’t watch your content. If you’re on a plane with wifi as I was, you can connect to it long enough to log in, disconnect from wifi, and then you can watch your downloaded content Great! Except you can’t. The app dies about every 3 to 4 minutes. What a worthless piece of crap. Who offers the ability to download content then denies the ability to watch it without a network connection?

needs improvement. I love that I can take my courses with me on the subway! But, the headphones remote doesn't work with the app, so I have to dig my phone out of my backpack if I want to pause the audio because a friend just got on the train or the conductor makes an announcement. It's a real pain, and I find I use the app less because of it. Also, serious lag time if you start the app when not connected. You get there, but it takes a long time. Edited one year later: still no updates to this app. They are not making the effort to improve the shortcomings or the user experience.

App needs improvement. I enjoy the Great. Purses, but this app needs some improvement in organization of courses. Needs to allow user to customize some folders or allow grouping by subject matter at least. Right now it’s tough to find what you’re looking for if you have multiple courses. Also need to allow different syncing across different devices. I like to watch video courses in my iPad and listen to audio courses on my iPhone. No way to keep lectures separate by device is frustrating.

nice app but not supported by my Apple streaming device. I am so disappointed that the Great Courses app is not supported by my Apple TV 4k streaming device. This really limits my family‘s ability to enjoy our Great Courses purchases. The Apple TV streaming device might not be the most common, but it should be supported. I have been a loyal fan of Great Courses since I was in high school so I am disappointed that I have to give such a low rating. Wondrium is supported by Apple TV but they are absolutely not the same thing. I want to be able to enjoy the library of courses I have bought over the years.

Useless app. What’s the point of the app other than to frustrate users? It allows me to cast to my TV but leaves a big black bar across the screen telling me “Casting to…” - Duh, I don’t need a message telling me the obvious and blocking course info. Do any of the developers actually try out the app in the real world before releasing it or are your customers the actual Beta test. Such a simple thing to catch. Maybe you need to hire a person that understands “casting” almost all other streaming apps have the iPad screen go dark while casting to the TV, with this app both are playing at the same time and if I turn the iPad dark the cast to the TV goes dark too. The website doesn’t have the casting message so not sure why someone thinks its a good idea for the app. If I can’t cast to the TV then I won’t be buying more courses.

Pretty good app!. I have not had trouble using this app. I have a good number of Great Courses, so I can listen to them at random or over and over as I want to. It is far better than the old disc version! My one "complaint" is that there does not seem to be a way to read the course material while listening to the course. Maybe I just haven't figured it out. But otherwise--a great improvement for audio listeners!

App deleted all courses, now doesn’t allow me to sing in. It started few months ago from me being unable to download a single lecture. Today I couldn’t see a single lesson in my library of 10+ courses (do math on money yourself, it’s a lot). When I reinstalled app, it doesn’t let me to login even if password is right. No problem exists on website. This app is trash. And GC doesn’t have ANY customer support, only bots. What a shame. New customers - do take it into consideration before starting to deal with this company. Bugs will happen, courses will disappear, support will be non existent. Thankfully sometimes it (website) works. But not app.

Perfect except.... This is an excellent app designed to showcase the fabulous course offerings from The Great Courses. The only thing the app is missing is a way for the user to freely sort the courses. There are options like recently downloaded, recently added, recently viewed and alphabetically by title. I would love to see the addition of another option: to sort manually. Currently I have 126 courses and it’s a chore to locate what I want to listed to especially as I have trouble remembering exact course names. That means, for me, having to scroll through over a hundred titles. I would love to see manual sort added to the “sort by” options.

Not Great App. The courses I have are very good, I learn and enjoy. The Learning Company does not allow a complete course download. Can’t drag and drop a course to a hard drive. Instead I have to download individual lectures in each course. It’s annoying. If my device sleeps download stops. To save bandwidth on my device I download courses, though it can take hours for one course. TLC needs to make this app easier to download courses by name not lecture number. To organize lectures files need to organized again by subject matter, more wasted time. Unfortunately TLC restricts playback method to their player. There are ways around this but it’s more disorganized than ever. I hope they upgrade this for customers, drop proprietary restrictions.

Great Trials. Amazingly great! I am 77 and was alive for some of these trials, but was totally naive and unaware of their importance. I was teaching kids in 5th grade many of the falsehoods in our American texts, and nothing about what was really going on in their world. This course has made a difference in my next actions. I will work to share more of the strange, awful, and noble things things trials bring to our reality today.

Great content but app is now more difficult to use since 2022 update. The content lectures are good as advertised. However since the latest update, the app has become far more difficult and challenging to use. Once you play a lecture if you want to listen again you have to manually clear the check mark to begin again. So if you listen to 24 lectures and want to listen again you have to restart each lecture. This is a terrible function and needs to be addressed.

Update please. TGC stand on there own, and their customer service is the bench mark for how a company should be run. This is why I couldn’t see myself giving less than 4 stars and struggled not to give them five. I have been a customer since the cassette days when you use to mail them a check and wait for the course to arrive. I transitioned to the digital format a few years ago and TTC took very good care of this long time customer by transferring all of my courses over to my digital library. Amazing and I was so appreciative for this service which TTC clearly did not have to do. I do not mind downloading lectures to my pad or phone it works as it should. When driving the pause and play “button” works just fine, I don’t see the issue others are having. If TTC would update this app so you could customize the organization of the library it would be a 5 star app in my opinion. S-lama

Great App and Seamless with your TGC account. I downloaded this app because I have a very extensive library from the great courses. At a certain point you just need more space and this app is a perfect place to park your great courses library. It functions seamlessly between your account and your app and has plenty of small features that will allow you to study the material you are listening to. I also appreciate the updated iPad app for TGC. They did a great job in syncing up all of your lectures and the place where you last left them.

The Great Crashes. You’d think it would be easy to create an app that can play a downloaded mp3 file from beginning to end without crashing. But it’s obviously beyond The Great Courses. On their app, you’re doing well if you can go three minutes without a crash. If you’re not doing so well, you’ll find yourself listening to parts of lectures three or four times before the app can manage to get past them… and also find yourself wasting endless time trying to find where the app last dumped you, since where the progress bar is when you return bears no relation to where in the lecture the latest crash occurred. Mind you, their website is no less useless. I’ve been trying for a month to get it to change my email address on it, and it keeps on erasing it and insisting that nothing happened. I’ve been using The Great Courses for over twenty years, but I’ve about had it.

Law and French. Although the course is quite enjoyable, I don't seem to be getting as much out of the LAW course as I had expected. On the other hand, the FRENCH course is EXCELLENT. The teacher is very engaging. Upon completion, I suspect I will have a working knowledge of the language. I must admit that I am only a few lessons into each. I hope I am given another opportunity to rate these, later

Unstable, poorly designed interface. I have to drive occasionally through a five hour cell coverage dead zone so downloaded several courses to listen to. But the app randomly stops playing, showing up as “unknown” device” or just shutting down; once you plow through the steps to get back to the session, it doesn’t remember the session much less where you were; the selection buttons are minuscule (e.g. you can’t just click on the whole title in the play list but rather it a 1squate millimeter arrow to start playing)( the skip-forward button sometimes turns the app off. As much as I wanted to know more about Charlemagne, I gave up after ten attempts to listen to one lesson and listened to music. Worst app I’ve seen, and the great content Great Courses offers deserves better than a Windows 3.1 level experience. Get your act together, folks!

Convenient and inspiring material. I love the Great Courses. There is always something new and interesting learn and the iPad and phone apps mean I can enjoy them anywhere. Sometimes I have difficulty downloading the lectures but when it works it makes a very enjoyable half hour.

A Great app for the Great courses.. Fantastic app. Easy to use and navigate around. Well set out simple in its layout. A great way to store and retrieve bought courses. A perfect accompaniment to the courses. Well worth having.

Highly Recommended. I would highly recommend this for anyone who would like to undertake courses at their own pace after work or school hours. It is a very comprehensive application that enables each person the flexibility to choose what they want to study and when they want to study at a relatively inexpensive price. The app itself is a productive learning tool designed to enhance knowledge and skill in selected subjects! Great app!!

Excellent. Great

Flexi learning. This app is great, you can listen to or view your courses on any device, at any location after downloading it cheaply at home wi-fi.

Highly recommended. This is an excellent application and the courses themselves are quite good. I bought a few of the cooking instruction courses and very strongly recommend them. The instructors are very good and they teach the various techniques effectively. The app displays the video and audio very well and I've watched the courses without any issues.

Great Courses App and Courses. Enjoying the courses I have purchased. There are lectures which need time to digest as I have chosen an area which is different to what I have been involved with. It is interesting to get the different viewpoints from the lectures I have listened to. Overall it has been good.

Great video.. With the ability to download lectures for offline viewing this app is great. You can also stream courses from within the app and the app notes what lecture you are up to as well as the part of the lecture you are up to. The course book reader is fine except it doesn't have chapters book marked meaning you have to scroll through each time you want to review it.

Beautiful and functional. It does what it says on the box and it looks fantastic. Designers of some similar apps like Audible should learn from it. Please create a version for the new Apple TV.

Good passive learning. My experience of these courses is that they are wonderful for passively keeping oneself informed. Actual learning requires a certain amount of doing to change behaviour, and sometimes I just want to passively know about a topic rather than do it. The quality of material, interesting subject range and highly professional and qualified speakers ensure a good use of my time. Thank you.

Love the Great Courses. Great Courses great app

World class courses when & where I want them!. Love the concept of having world class courses available exactly when and where it suits me! Great selection of topics too. Each unit captivated my attention from the opening line, and ended with a cliff-hanger that kept me going... Excellent value for money - I just downloaded two more courses to keep me entertained on my upcoming Sydney to London flight.

5 titles. I have been very pleased indeed with all my purchases. They are beautifully rendered, totally professional and give me immense pleasure. I have to wait for good prices as I don't gave a great deal to spend. My only criticism is of myself in choosing a Bart Ehrmann lecture, I had not realised he gave up his Christian faith and thus his lectures have to be listened to much more carefully and weighed up in light of ones own knowledge. Some people might find this disconcerting so be sure you look carefully at the lecturer before buying. Thank you for listening and providing a wonderful library of information.

Just so wonderful. The Great Courses are getting better all the time in their Mobile platforms. But the prices are rather steep.

The Best Cure From Retirement Doldrums. I have enjoyed every course I have ordered from The Great Courses. My favourite professor is Robert Greenberg of the music genre. When I have invited friends over for afternoon tea and music he is the best advertisement for The Teaching Company. I have lost count how many friends have either subscribed to “plus” or have ordered courses for themselves. Being retired, I was looking for intellectual stimulation and each of the courses is like a massage to the brain. I look forward each month to see what new courses have been added. Thank you for truly enriching my life.

Great Courses. Over the years I have purchased a number of courses but now I have discovered that I no longer cannot access them because my I pod and I pad cannot be updated. What a waste of money. Barrie Brady

Wonderful resource. For someone who is retired and busy these courses offer a chance to relax at night in bed and enjoy lectures on subjects you might never otherwise have had the time to be able to experience.

Absolutely Fantastic. This is an unpralleled platform. Period.

Wonderful app for visual course. I am using it for art courses and the quality of device screens today make illustrated lectures doubly effective and joyful. The occasional sale price brings world class courses within reach of many.

Empty application. Maybe it is a regional thing but currently there are a big fat zero courses listed, so this application is pointless.

Awesome, love this app. Short and sweet, but The Great Courses provides a fantastic array of resources for teachers (I teach History and Geography). The app itself is excellent and allows me to save individual lectures that I can view offline. Easy to use and download resources. Genuinely have never had a problem with anything. Keep up the good work, thank you.

Great app. Love the 10 sec rewind & forward button

Seems like a good app. Seems like a good app, but useless in Australia - no lectures whatsoever available ... why is this?

Great for streaming woeful for downloading. The app is fantastic when it comes to streaming lessons, it looks fantastic and is intuitive to use. Where it falls over is if you want to save a series of lessons for use when you aren't going to have streaming capabilities. It's slow, restarts at random and will re download already lessons you have already download. The last part is particularly frustrating and almost cost me an iPad due the the strong urge to hurl mine at a solid boundary.

Wonderful app. If you love lectures and podcasts, you'll love this app and the courses available at the Great Courses. The downloads and syncing work seamlessly and means you can take your lectures with you and listen anytime, anywhere. This is a fantastic addition to the experience. Highly recommended!!

Superb. I have more then 10 courses now : mixed audio, video. I would like the option of grouping and viewing them by the cover themes/ genres like in the old version rather than the new still photos which makes them harder to search for when you have a few courses. The new download option is terrific thanks for listening to the feedback. Streaming works very well on my wifi.

Rubbish. Videos won't load or play - ripoff

Good app, but could do with some changes. Trap works well when controlling direct from iPad or iPhone, but struggles Shen connected to headset. I have an Apple compatible headset which (when playing music or most other similar apps) allows me to click a button on the cord to pause the playback. This doesn't seem to work on the Great Courses. Since I often listen when on the move (driving or exercising) this can become quite a drawback as I have to either stop to open the app to pause, or pull the plug out. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.

Great Courses is ...well great, of course.. Easy to use on iPad and happy customer here.

Downloading is now possible!. Thank you the Great Courses for making efforts to allow users to download the lectures onto their mobiles. Pre-charging my iPad with 2 or 3 lectures ahead makes me feel ready for a happy commuting to work.

I like it but fix this.. I like it but fix this. Fix how when we air stream from iPhone to Apple TV we don’t want the sign appear your are streaming while watching our payed education we miss chess pieces and positions you never used to do this prior to the unnecessary and annoying you are streaming sign. So what let us stream our product to our home tv. Fix the problem. And please add this app also to Apple TV.

Great lectures, well designed App. This App improves the convenience of listening to the library of great courses that I have purchased recent years. The App further enables people who are interested in advancing their knowledge and skills to do so in a simple and convenient manner. Very well designed App.

The Great Courses. Worth every cent!

Great courses and app. Love the new app that is easy to use and are useful to hear and watch the courses from iPhone or iPad

Love the content, app needs work!. Love the content and will continue using. However the app needs user experience upgrades. You can’t skip forward and back 15secs when the app is on the Lock Screen (a very basic function for an app)! A bit clunky.

Special request. Hi Guys, Love the great courses and the app, My LG smart tv has lots of apps that allow you to stream straight to your tv. Can you guys please look at doing an app for popular tv brands. Thanks Dave

Phil from Brisbane. I have had over twenty sets of courses and have enjoyed every one. I find the passive learning excellent and the selection of presenters also excellent. The Great Courses has become a significant part of my recreation and will continue to be so. I have no negative comments.

Portable and easy to use. The great courses are a wonderful learning tool. With so much information available this gives you what you need in bite size half hour lessons. The app makes it portable - can pre-download when you know you are going to be offline, or just run it whenever you want. Sometimes it takes a while to get going but has never let me down

Compatibility.. The app is not opening any course, at all.

Great courses. I can fully endorse Robert Solomon’s courses if u are interested in self education.

Very Well Made. Looks absolutely superb and functions well.

One of the best. For those, like me, who have an unquenchable desire to keep expanding one's understanding of the world around us, The Great Courses, are one of the very best leaning experiences available. Terrific stuff.

Wish it had a timer. Course content is great. App is substandard in my opinion. Can't download audio courses onto my phone and lacks a timer which would be handy when I listen to a lecture when I go to bed at night.

Bait and...nothing. Downloaded and waited with anticipation. No free courses or even courses offered! Had to go to the app support site, and no answers there either. On average the course are approx $50! Booooo!

Well Integrated Front End. This is a great front-end for The Great Courses. I usually watch in streaming mode, and this works very smoothly, even on an old iPad 2. Often, if space/ timer permits, I watch on a laptop and use the tablet to read the notes. I second other comments, which is a 15-30 second rewind would be welcome. Also, I'd like to be able to select or specify page numbers or bookmark them to go to the page where I left off as I go through a course. All in all, though, this is a great app!

Not working!. It sure would be nice to see something other than a black screen?

Courses in an app, love it.. Reliable, quick, and easy. Could use a 15 second rewind button. Otherwise great.

Super awesome. Works great! Love the courses! Have been using them for a few years app makes it super easy to download and delete :)

Not fully compatible with apple tv. The app constantly streams subtitles and or Cc. When stream to an apple tv. It does not do this when streaming to a chromecast. Also if i do a screen mirror then there is a large banner that appears across the center making it impossible to watch. I have 10 other apps that i use to stream to my apple tv without incident. I opened a ticket with the developer and they informed me it must be a setting with my apple tv. Interesting the only app that has this issue is theirs. I guess apple tv made a special setting just for thier app that i cant find. Not impressed i asked to close the ticket as thier is no sense in wasting any more of my time trying to help them.

Frustrated!!!. Since the new update I can not remove the lectures I downloaded before the update. To make me more frustrated, I can’t get a response from the great courses. Not…impressed.

Rewind button please!. The Courses are great but more than most apps this one needs a 10 sec or 30 sec rewind feature.

Love this app. If you are a great courses this app is great. Constant updates are appreciated.

Won't load my courses. Not working. Won't load my courses.

Insightful and Admirable. All these courses are taught with great precision and concern for truth. The Great Courses' actions are truly admirable in that they educate the population, no matter their age.

Getting better!. Being able to download lectures to play locally instead of streaming is a huge improvement. However, three features are needed to get five stars: (1) Choice to play one lecture and stop, or stop after a certain amount of time. Some people may want to automatically start the next lecture, but I want to hear only one, and have playback stop automatically. (2) Button to go back a bit, say 15 seconds, to review a concept or for when one's mind wanders. (3) Button to download all lectures instead of only one at a time.

Never a disappointment. The great courses never disappoints you with courses on top of that the iPhone app is awesome. I am a customer for life.

So practical!. Being able to watch my courses on my iPad mini on the run without having to copy the files on it is so practical. Thanks a lot for that option.

The Great Courses. The Great Courses is helping 'round out' my knowledge. Currently, my focus is literature, language, creative writing, and history - these are all a considerable change from my scientific background. I listen enroute to/ from work (15 min each way), and have started using the app (instead of CDs). So far, the app is working flawlessly.

Poorly done. Generally fairly functional however it has major issues: 1.) recently it won’t keep playing when my iPhone is locked which obviously is a huge problem. 2.) it will sometime play multiple times over top each other and the only way to stop is to kill the app and start it again.

Great App. Love the Great Courses. Love the app.

Awesome. I echo many before me. This app is very practical and handy. My internet was down on my PC and here comes the app to keep me going.

Great Courses. As I approach my mid 60s I'm always looking to learn more. These courses are an excellent way to do it at your own speed and on your own time. The app allows me to do it while relaxing in the chair using my tablet and not having to be tied to a computer. Highly recommend it!

👍. Love great course, love that I can access it anytime on my phone

Fantastic. I've been studying a wide range of courses for a few years and love how this app delivers the content so effectively. The interface is intuitive and easy to use.

Grateful. Thank you for providing me with the ability to continue learning. It has helped me understand and connect with the world around me. It has renewed my sense of purpose and increased my ambition to excel. It has also given me more pleasure and joy in my life!

Worthwhile. Worthwhile doing

Excellent overall. App very easy to use. Some courses better than others but excellent overall

Easy, efective, fun, and you learn something, too!. I've been a fan of the Great Courses since the days of cassette tapes. This app, though, lets me access courses in both audio and video formats, depending on what I've bought. Now with the ability to stream, or to download a lecture and watch/listen off line, I can take the greatest teachers with me wherever I go: bed, bath, car, cabin, city or wilderness. Fabulous!

How the stock market works. There is so much to choose from anyone can find a subject of interest. I am really enjoying spending my time listening to my courses and learning and the bonus is that I can listen to them anywhere.

The Great Courses. The online feature of these already great courses only adds to their usefulness and convenience. One can now follow a theme on a smartphone, tablet or what- have-you if you have LTE or Wi-Fi, and of course the latter is getting more ubiquitous . A fine touch indeed! The only fly in the ointment is the annoying habit of " losing one's place after pausing for a few days or hours. Otherwise, I am happy!

So much to learn, so little time!. 1) the app is good, still stumbles occasionally 2) haven't come across a bad course yet, most very good to excellent. You do need an open mind for some history and religious subjects.

Internet required. Although you can download courses instead of streaming them, you cannot start playing your course without an internet connection. In order to listen to a course while I walk outside, I have to start the course playing before I go out the door. This means it is not practical to listen to a course when traveling or camping. Sometimes the course will not start even when I'm at home.

Great Course Handy App. This app quickly gets me into my purchased courses, so I can see them on my high resolution screen or mirror on my TV. I carry my tablet around when doing chores, so I'm learning as I take care of various things around the house.

Buggy version. Experiencing problems with the streaming feature that the company has yet to address. It worked fine one day, then the next day none of my lectures would load, on either the iPhone or iPad app. I've contacted the company but no solutions yet. It would be fine if the download feature worked properly, but it needs to be constantly monitored to keep from timing out, so it can take ages to complete a single lecture. Love the content, but the app can be very frustrating.

Used it for years, great place to go for learning.. Their courses are always expanding, now my wife wants one now, its on dog training. They're are a great investment in knowledge, the teachers are top in there field. Its always a pleasure to listen and see in a visual manner the ideas and concepts of what your interested in, at your convenience, on all digital formats. Its a great way to get a jump on the higher schooling your children want to pursue.

Excellent App. This is an excellent App. It's intuitive and easy to use.

Great Courses App. Love the Music courses especially, great that I can download episodes on my iPhone to enjoy during my walk

Awesome.. Everything about the Great Courses is high quality. The app is one more example.

Not working. App does not play any of my purchased courses. Frustrating....

Good. Enjoying the app.

Awesome app. Simply wonderful to have access to my courses this way. Works seamlessly. Thank you.

Bravo.. I have 32 of these courses and love them dearly. I listen while driving long distances and while I take my daily walks. Great learning experience.

The world's knowledge before me!. I love the variety and quality of lectures as well as the caliber of teacher I have encountered through "The Great Courses".

New app vastly inferior. New app can’t seem to keep lectures in order I.e. 1,2,4,7… Challenging to listen sequentially Previously downloaded lectures not recognized as downloaded on new app - so stuck there / can’t delete them, but used storage space Please fix - and next time beta test first!!!

Simply fantastic.. Can you imagine how this app could be any better.

What happened?. This app used to be very good. Not any more. For some God forsaken reason the brain trust removed the ability to cast the course onto a tv screen via Apple play or Chromecast. Until this situation is rectified by an update the best I can rate this app is 1 star.

Great courses. Très conviviaux , bien structurés, cours pertinents, nombreux sujets intéressants et,étant francophone, l'anglais audio est facile!!

APP. A very useful app! Thanks!

So smooth!. I just re-acquainted myself with The Great Courses and stumbled onto this app. Within minutes I was again viewing my favorite course, "Big History". No trouble at all. The app eliminates 90% of the overhead I previously went thru years ago to access the courses. I love this evolution of technology and teaching.

Almost perfect. Almost perfect. The 10-second rewind button is too close to the pause button as well as the time bar. I accidentally hit the pause button or time bar when trying to rewind. Also the rewind button does not appear in the iPhone lock screen.

Exceptional. The Great Courses provide exceptional courses and world class lectures. It is simply the best place for a life-long pursuit of learning.

Great app great company. App so far has worked flawlessly for me. It's a great way to consume these wonderful courses.

Great but... I really enjoy the app and have had no problems with any of the courses. My only recommendation is that direct access to the store be available, rather than going to the website and purchasing more courses.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Love the flexibility of platforms.. I enjoy listening to Great Courses on my walks and drive to work. The site needs some tweaking to help with reviewing missed content. Maybe a 30 second rewind button to back up the lecture when I become distracted by traffic or on my walks.

Problem with downloads. The app has downloaded 24 lectures (video), the entire course, but keeps reloading (starting download again) lectures that are already marked as downloaded, seemingly at random. What is going on? The non-stop "looks like you are back on-line" and "reloading" every time the internet connection changes, in the middle of playing a lecture is quite dumb and irritating.

Wonderful Courses, Great Teachers ...... From Philosophy to History, Quantum Mechanics and outer space, and the fields of Socio-economics, as well as geo-politics; courses from this institution have greatly enhanced my knowledge of the inner-workings of the changing world we live in today. As the Weeping Philosopher, Heraclitus, so aptly stated “no man ever steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man.” Over the course of the past couple of decades, I have learned more from the various courses offered in different fields by this company than any other period in my life, including 6 years in the field of sciences and engineering. Thank you

Learn from the best. I am and have been a subscriber to The Great Courses for several years. The courses that I have an interest in are related to neuroscience and neuroeducation. The presenters are well known to their individual fields of study. The material is informative to tyros and pros. I use the courses as an excellent review as well as keeping me current with research and trends in neuroeducation.

Love The Great Courses, the makes it even greater. TGC app makes accessing their material even easier. And although I also like websites like Coursera, those materials don’t lend themselves nearly as well to learning “on the go” as TGC does because TGC material does not constantly interrupt you with prompts to continue or to answer questions.

"GREAT" for sure. A "great" way to improve your mind. I am 78 years and my mind is not as sharp as it use to be. These courses will slow the decline and at the same time entertain you with new found knowledge. You lean at your own speed and if you don't get something the first time or forgot it, just go over it again.

Audio and video out of sync. The courses are great and so is the app except for the one big flaw that the audio and video constantly get out of sync. I have to close and open the app to get it to work, for awhile, and then gets out of sync again. The last update was a year ago. Time for another one, please.

Great way to watch your courses. This app works great for me on my iPad Air. It’s really an application version of the web page. Looks and behaves the same way so it’s is familiar to any one that already has courses and has been using the web . Sign in once and you are good to go. I have has no issues with it.

So happy to have this. I listen while mobile a lot. This app is perfect for that. Picking up where I left off, backing up and hopping forward in defined increments, and downloading content all make this a pleasure to use. The Roku version is great at home.

Take the classroom anywhere. The streaming feature allows access to these "great" courses at anytime and place. My phone is always with me and a wait in line or at doctors office becomes a classroom. The app is easy to use and so far I have had no technical problems Thank you!

I love this app!. I am really happy I found out about this app because I really love it! This allows me to access all my videos while I'm on the go on my cell phone! I am using the Videos much more often on my cell phone than I am in the house! Great app!

Great content, good app — needs CarPlay support. The courses are fantastic (been learning from them for many years!) and the app is making good progress. Most of my listening is in the car — developers, please add CarPlay support. CarPlay would make it both easier and safer to use. Thanks!!

App does not work well. Initially I used this and was so pleased but a few weeks later I go back and my content isn’t available. It shows six downloads but I cannot access them. This app is not tested and does not work. I can access the courses fine from my computer or browser. They should not put out an app if they aren’t going to support it or ensure it continues to work. It shouldn’t be that hard! I’m disappointed as I’d hoped to use this on my phone more.

Downloads are working offline. I reported you could not watch downloaded videos, it appears to be working now. I can't delete my review so I updated it.

Talking Professor. I have purchased three courses and have enjoyed the information presented. However, from now on I will purchase the audio only. The DVDs and streaming videos are visually dull—just a talking head with an occasional photo or piece of art. Nonetheless, I will buy more courses.

SO HELPFUL. I am a student currently in high school, and naturally I have to write papers for my English and history classes. I recently had to write a paper debating if slavery did or didn't cause the civil war. The lectures on this app were beyond helpful and have me the facts and resources necessary to wright an amazing paper!!

Still a few bugs. I wish they had a few more courses, Spanish language in particular, but the courses they do have are great and the app is easy to use. The best feature is being able to listen to them off-line. There are still quite a few bugs making use a bit frustrating at times.

Learning made engaging. Now that retirement is a part of my life I have some valued time to further enhance my knowledge on subjects of interest that have certainly heightened my awareness of topics that the Great Courses have so eloquently presented. Every subject I have tackled is both engaging and rewarding. My only regret is not enjoying the benefits sooner. Never to old to learn new tricks, thanks Great Courses!

Terrific way to learn while working out. I use The Great Courses to enhance my daily exercise. Listening while running or working out distracts from boredom on long runs ( especially the treadmill,) and gives me a sense of added accomplishment that helps me to commit to extra hours in the gym...

pretty good but..... Mostly, the app did what I wanted it to, but when I wanted to back up a little and hear something again, it just coninued on... I had to drag the progress bar backwards and even that wanted to pop back to where I was before...

App doesn’t work. Latest app version just won’t load videos - the app is useless. It’s the one and main thing this app is supposed to do and it just gets stuck on the loading video screen. I can look at the professor bios or even download the study guide in the app, but the videos won’t load or stream. I’d recommend Apple remove this from the store as a dead app. Very disappointed I paid for a bunch of courses and can’t watch them.

Updated App is horrible. What happened to the check mark ability? I use to be able to check off videos I watched in my library and if I want to re-review a course I would uncheck so I can see where I left off. The new updated app is worse… you tried to fix something that was not broken and made it not user friendly…ugh

Over 15Gb data used with no downloads?. I have two iPads (6 Mini and Pro) IOS 16.5 that I have downloaded classes for trips in the past. Had deleted backups on Mini some time ago and four 1/2 hour classes on Pro today. Both still show over 15GB storage usage. Seams extreme! Version 8.2.3(1)

Update a great leap backward. The Great .Courses continues its backward migration. The new app is still missing significant capabilities. A key failure is that previously downloaded lectures are not shown in the downloaded file tab. As such there is no ability to delete those lectures as they are watched. It is critical that lectures can be downloaded for viewing off line, and that they can be deleted as desired to conserve space on tablets and phones. The download tab only show, and allows management, of lectures after the new interface was instituted.

Terrible app. This app is an insult to the excellent lecturers who provide the courses. It does not keep track of your location locally so you wind up listening to the same passages over and over. Also if you pause for any length of time it restarts the app when you try to hit play. So that's about five minutes to get back in - counting the time to find your lecture and your place in it - because of course it didn't update your location when it restarted the app. This is what happens when you try to maintain too much control. You destroy the product.

Good app, but.... The Great Courses app is overall pretty good. But, there are a few possible enhancements- 1. Allow for the creation of folders for storing similar subjects. 2. Provide a means to purchase or open the course guidebook on Kindle. 3. Allow users to sort the courses using drag and drop on the iPad app screen. Otherwise, it is good app for the courses!

Downloaded videos do t work without internet. Can I please watch the videos that I have already downloaded to my phone without connecting to the internet? App isn’t loading properly and I can’t watch anything because it can’t connect to servers properly. Let me watch what’s on my phone already at the very least

So close.... But sometimes the internet is so far, or so slow. The app is basically unusable in metro transit situations because of congestion with cell carriers, which is exceedingly frustrating because that's the exact situation that I want to use the app. The loading screen is pretty, but slow. And the bookmark functionality should be asynchronously set once the network is available and responds. The content is good and it's nice to be able to view content without using physical media.

Works well. Everything works well. My only comment is that it doesn’t work so well with driving in that it you can’t go back if you focus on driving for a bit and it keeps playing if your GPS cuts in.

No longer works on my IPhone so I cannot access my courses. .. No longer works in my iPhone. Correction: my VPN was creating the problem. After a tech call to Apple we fixed the problem by turning off the VPN and then turning it back on.

Dysfunctional app. Dysfunctional website. CS doesn’t answer the phone.. The app doesn’t download any of the purchased content for offline use. The website says that I have reached the maximum number of login attempts, although I see the same pathology from three different operating systems and five different browsers. The “Customer Service” phone number doesn’t seem to be operational. There is no way to tell the online service or the app about the 30 or 40 courses which I have bought over 30 years. They are awfully good at selling stuff, though...

Convenient!. Love the app. Started with dried mud cuneiform tablets. That was back when the "Teaching Company" mailed lessons by personal runners. Then they went to reel-to-reel audio tapes, then cassettes and DVDs, and eventually to digital downloads and now to this! Streaming lessons anywhere! My friends in ancient Uruk and it's suburbs would be absolutely gobsmacked.

Awesome content but app very buggy. I keep checking for app updates, but not yet. The app will not advance automatically from one lecture to the next, instead it skips down the list playing 4 seconds of the next odd numbered lecture then advances again on its own and repeats. When listening via blue tooth, the forward / rewind controls are non functional. Please upgrade the app!

Cannot download the app!. I have several courses purchased for using the Great Courses app. These courses were purchased several years ago and I have used them on my iPad. The app was deleted and since then I have a new phone but I cannot download either the Great Courses or the Great Courses Plus app! The app description show the app works on both the app and iPhone. What’s the deal, what’s the problem please fix.

App flexibility. Course material is good. I would like to have the ability to change speed like I can with My Craftsy classes. Would like to be able to bookmark places to return to later. The written material is not as easy to search or scroll through as Inwould like. It would be helpful to to to a chapter by touching the table of contents instead of scrolling.

The app allows viewing course materials anywhere there is Internet access. Of course internet bandwidth will limit access speed and the quality of the experience in places like airports , etc.

Great courses. App needs variable speed controls. I love the Great Courses. But I love listening to them when I can speed them up a little sometimes. Some of the professors speak very slowly, which can be helpful at times. But other times, it makes me want to listen to them on something else. And the something else isn’t always available.

The app is easy to use. It easy for an old guy like me to understand and use. Sometimes when it closes it keeps my place and sometimes it doesn't but I have no idea whether that's a user problem or a problem of the app.

Great App, Lacks catalog integration. My experiences with this app have been pleasant thus far. Fortunately, I have internet where I use it, which seems to be a tensious point with other users. My main grievance is that I am unable to access or browse other Great Courses' courses. You think they would encourage that for revenue purposes but I have been unable to find a way to browse their catalog through this app. That would be nice.

Great courses mediocre app. I have been a fan of The Great Courses since 1996. I have bought dozens of courses over the past 2 decades. The courses are great but the streaming is spotty, I often have one lecture jump to the next in the queue despite excellent wifi. This is quite problematic while driving and I cannot immediately correct. This seems to be a problem with the server at the company since it also happens when I stream even with an Ethernet connection.

Unwanted courses I can’t get delete from library. The app fills my digital library with promo (“free”) courses i don’t care about. First they are not really free as only the first lecture is available, and they’re just there cluttering my library to bait me to buy courses I’ve never expresses interest in. Second, there is no way to delete these unwanted courses, and contacting customer support doesn’t help.

I listen everyday. I have been listening to different installments of the great courses for the last 6 years and nearly everyday for the last 3 years. They have found a way to recruit the brightest and most capable minds, the best story tellers and best teachers to present even the most complex topic in an enjoyable way....love being able to learn everyday

Problem with app. I love the Great Courses, but since last December streamed lectures have refused to show in full screen, having a wide black box around them. Customer Support couldn’t help. There must be something missing in the programming for the IPad app, so I have to access lectures from the web site, where I can control the size of the lecture window.

Great concept. I love having access to such quality education. I use it on my iPad with Wi-Fi. It is difficult to tell if I am streaming or watching from the download. That needs to be made more clear to the user, but should be minor tweak in GUI. That will be important to me when I’m traveling without Wi-Fi.

No downloads. No way to download. When I attempt to access this on my iPhone, none of the lectures are downloaded, although they were previously. There is no way to download lectures. I have been over and over this. I have been through the tutorial, I have attempted to contact great courses, I can access all my lectures through my home television, but apparently my iPhone is incapable of doing this. Really Fed up. This has worked previously, but no longer does. There is no available update. Grrrrrr.

Seems to have broken. I watched a course on iPad by downloading each lecture fine. The next course I tried seems broken since it just says cannot play lecture. The app seems to have gotten confused since it indicates 3 lectures downloaded but cannot play them. Very frustrating.

Great Program/Mediocre App. I love the great courses and own quite a few that I revisit regularly. The issue I have is the extremely slow download speed. I travel a lot and want to use the courses I've purchased while flying but the slow download speed greatly limits the courses I have time to download.

Great Courses are Great; So is APP!. Great Courses has wonderful presentations by extremely knowledgeable educators who can really explain the topics and engage you. I waste little time watching TV, gain valuable information that is both useful and enjoyable. The Great Courses App adds to the pleasure I get as it is always available on my iPad. Everyone should treat her/him-self to one course and get hooked on a good habit.

One of the best. I I gave this course a four star. It should be a five. A very good instructor with light hearted but caring approach. Most of his anecdotes are familiar to me but with a little bit more flavor than standard way you read in most books on Tai Chi. I have improved my teaching skills two fold to bad I did not take this course sooner; just for the lecture part. The form section is superior to most instruction videos. All though I prefer a little more silk reeling and Nei Gong attitude. Since I am 83 I figure I have 17 more years to spread Sifu Ross's teaching style. Ed Hayes Yuma Az

Useless offline / Very buggy. Being able to download content appears to be a great option to watch on a plane or in the subway. However, the app constantly logs out (and requires internet to log back in). There also seems to be a lot of crashing when you can watch offline. Very very buggy when attempting to use offline. Content is fantastic however.
