Haven't even opened yet. And I bet the clicking others are hearing in their recordings are the result of "clipping" or recording level being set to hi... Another said they had "play with it to get the levels right... I'm really looking forward to getting back into the game of recording the live music, with permission of course / my own listening pleasure. Tape many a show with Sony d5 (later Addison Sony d7 amd Casio) and the tried and tru Nak 300s as well as some stealth... Things seem to be much smaller now a days... Went to see Ziggy other night so funny how everyone try's to record video on phones, yes some does come out well, however most I witnessed could stay still or could stay quiet. Anyway, looking forward to Laying with this app will post another review when finished. Why did I get the microphone?. App won’t let me download to SoundCloud or email the file. Feels like the microphone is worthless. Will you refund me the microphone because this is pointless

Too much like silly hardware it imitates. The Zoom HandyRecorder app attempts to re-create the interface of the popular Zoom handheld recorders (H4, etc.). While cute, that is a lousy idea - it brings over all the limitations and quirks of the hardware, too, such as not being able to name files or share them with other apps or services. The UI gives you completely different and equally bad views in portrait or landscape mode, and is filled with wasted space. Zoom should remake this as a real iOS app that takes advantage of what pure software can do. Drop all references to the hardware and do it right. The companion iQ5 and iQ6 mics are great and deserve better.

Fan of Zoom products, but.... The app is clunky, awkward, and worst of all, there’s no option to upload files to Dropbox or share via Airdrop. That would make a huge difference. I can get over the clunky app, been working with Zoom products since the original H4, and love their recording quality. I want to continue to support.

Last IOS Update screwed it up!. NO FEEDBACK FROM ZOOM WHATSOEVER - 1/4/19 Post below was made weeks ago. Was working perfectly. Part time audio engineer with lots of zoom products. After last iOS update though there is no input recognition. Will not pick up any sound at all. Adjusted gain, nothing. Uninstalled reinstalled and still nothing. I checked my phone's settings (Xr) and there is no microphone permission! Zoom, Apple just made you look bad. Now instead of going to my trusted zoom product I have to find another app that works.

Great app!. a glitch occurred that prevented me from recording but I did a reset and now it works! great app and I am very happy with my iQ7 device

Terrible app. I'm sorry to say that I've had a very hard time with this app. The iq7 makes a lot of buzz noises, I'm not sure if it's because of the phone or what is causing it but the more I use it, the worse it gets. The app makes it hard to share and backup files. Could never figure out how to register my email with it so I can email myself the files. Also, listening to it playback in the car, as soon as the voice memo was done the player automatically went into monitor mode. The feedback was so loud and sudden that I almost crashed. I hope that a future version resolves these problems, but voice memos on the iPhone is a way better app than this thing. Don't waste your time with it

App Updated. New app for iOS 12 or later! So excited!

Five+ years of an abysmal app. Five+ years of 1- and 2-star reviews that are still going strong to this day. Another example of a big corporation who doesn’t care about their customers as long as the physical product sells. (The mic itself is great, so it does sell.) The app is terrible. You can’t name files. You can’t edit them. The upside down interface for recording is useless because they never bothered to update it for the iPhones’ notch and pill designs. (You also have to dive to the bottom of the settings to find it.) You can’t stop and start recording on a single recording. There are way too many unnecessary tabs and weird places to access important things, like getting back to the main recording screen from a tiny “home” icon way in the corner furthest from your thumb. Unless you truly need WAV files (which I don’t want taking up my iPhone storage anyway), just use Voice Memos, which captures the high quality stereo audio perfectly in a thousand times better interface, with way more functionality.

Best IOS audio recorder. Great sound and features even without hardware.

What happened?. Been using this with a zoom mic for years. Suddenly, on deadline, it stopped working and it appears it doesn't have permission to use the phone's microphone. Is this being fixed??

So close. Could be an excellent utility. From my perspective it comes up short into areas. Sharing and editing both need tweaks. Under sharing it provides two options that are less than helpful. I would like to see “copy“ and or “AirDrop“. In editing, It seems to be lacking the ability to cut out/remove and unwanted sound in the middle. I do like that you can continue recording and there’s more to like about it. But in my workflow it needs to have those two features updated.

Doesn’t work with 15.4.1 IOS. It appears this version doesn’t work with the latest IOS

Higher Quality. It would be great if this app could record in 48kHz / 24 bit. I don’t see why they couldn’t add this feature, since the “ShurePlus Motive” app already does this.

TOTAL WASTE. I used this app along with the mic to record a rehearsal and zoom doesn’t tell you that despite allowing you to record in .WAV format, the export limit is 25MB per file, making the quality recordings stuck in your phone. I spent 3+ hours re-recording them into another older digital recorder and that was a waste of time bc the Zoom app loops playback so it recorded the same hour long rehearsal 2.5 times. Use the mic with a different app. Mic is great and works with your iPhones camera and audio recorders. You don’t need this app it’s trash.

Files transfer requires iTunes/Catalina. It’d be a mediocre app if it let you access your recordings via the Files app. However, the only options to get data out is to email it, upload to SoundCloud, or plug into a computer. As such, it gets the lowest possible rating.

No sound input when using newest iOS update. This won’t work at all when using the new iOS update. Zoom hasn’t updated the app in over a year.

Is this really the best option?. Difficult to believe that this is the best Zoom could do with creating a recording app, or that they put much effort into it at all. I’ve encountered so much frustration with this app that dissuaded me from continuing with recordings. File management is terrible, Soundcloud upload continuously fails, cannot send decent-length recordings over email, and the list continues. It would be awesome if this app captured date & time with the recording, and ideally GPS location for field recordings. Also would just love to be able to rename my recording. These features are not beyond the capacity of Zoom. I hope they do better in the future

Devs - heed the reviews. Im looking to update my old TASCAM iM2 mic for iOS to avoid having 2 separate devices. I saw the ZOOM iQ series mics and decided to see what the app reviews said. What I see is a long list of reasons I should not buy anything from ZOOM, so I guess it’s back to TASCAM iM2 until I decide to buy a separate device. When the time comes, I will now avoid ZOOM products at all costs.

Recordings are empty since the V3 update. Can someone help me troubleshoot this? I am using the app exactly as I always have, but ever since V3 came out nothing but silence gets recorded. There is no wave form or anything. Help!

A lot of noise. Terrible app, I know my microphone works fine because I record on garage band on my phone with it and it sounds clear. This app is the problem, I would not be able to record using this app and have any usable recordings with the awful noise i get with it. Zoom’s website says they are aware of the issue and are working on fixing ir but this is since November of 2019. Still waiting....

Cannot Share Audio. It continues to fail to share the audio file no matter what way I share it, rendering my expensive Zoom recording device completely useless.

Terrible. Using the IQ7 in mid-side mode requires you to use this app, which would be fine if this app had any decent sharing options. The only way to get audio out of this app and into your desktop or another iOS app is via soundcloud or email. Apparently they’ve never heard of Dropbox, airdrop, AudioCopy, audioshare, or Audiobus. If they would add basic sharing features I’d find it far more useful. I just want the raw m-s recording to process later, but that’s not really possible with this.

No longer compatible with latest ios17. I understand the lightning is an outdated format. But like many here I used to use my zoom microphone for recording video and audio and I'm sad to find out it's no longer working on iOS17 with lightning enabled devices. Used to be my favorite recorder now no longer functions. Please bring back compatibility!

Doesn’t work properly. I wasn’t able to upload my recording via email. Hard pass. Really wish this one worked.

Thoroughly enjoy. I bought the iQ6 about a year ago and use it mainly for field recording of ambient sounds. I have used it to record my acoustic guitar ideas so I don’t forget them and it does not disappoint. I would like to find a way to rename the files from within the app- and find a way for Bluetooth output support. I like recording while being able to monitor- but I would like to be able to share the mix immediately by connecting to my Bluetooth speakers or Bluetooth hub that is connected to my Eris 4.5’s

Won’t output to Bluetooth. Made a recording, but won’t play back via Bluetooth speaker, even though everything else does !

Static noise and old app. It's bad It have static noise while recording Are planning to fix the problem or I throw it away And also the app is very old like app from the 90s

Not working on iOS 12. If you install this app on iOS 12, it will no longer ask access to the phone’s microphone, thus cannot record anything.

My grandma’s got better file sharing skills. Seriously!? Who shares field recordings via email and Soundcloud any more? Email? How about maybe DropBox or iCloud support? Otherwise, the few features the app does have seem to be stable... Email? Seriously?

Boxes your audio. If you plan to do anything with your audio files, use another app. With all of the error messages and lack of function, it’s impossible to upload your recordings to any medium. Email uploads will be blocked for size and sound cloud uploads receive the error message 422. Great hardware, TERRIBLE software integration.

Years out of date and no export features. This app is a few years out of date. UI doesn’t fit phones anymore. The only export options are email (won’t work because files are too big) and Soundcloud 👎 Don’t waste your time on this app and don’t buy a Zoom mic because then you’ll be stuck with this app.

Would be better. Missing a few features e.g. export to apple files and icloud.

Please update for use on new iPhones with USB-C ports.. I cannot update the firmware on my usbc Zoom am7 using the iPhone 15 Pro Max

Won’t allow stereo recording. Despite plugging in a stereo mic that other iOS apps (eg Voice Record Pro) allow me to record properly in stereo, the auto detection feature of this app only allows mono and there is option to change it. Developer: if you respond I will gladly upgrade my review. Your “Support” link doesn’t provide support info. I’ll just use another app for now. Good luck.

terrible file management. There is no way to change the sample rate, and the three ways to export files are to upload them to icloud, upload them to soundcloud, or email them. It can’t email larger files, get ready to fill up your icloud storage

Good. For what it is, it’s great. Negative reviews are probably user error. Using the higher end external mic attachment requires a bit of research on decoding your signal to get out of it what was intended but that’s exactly how it’s supposed to work even in a studio so...

Looks nice doesn’t replace fire. I have been using the app called “fire” for a long time now it is since been discontinued and I can’t find an equivalent for newer devices. Thought this might do looks nice and I’ve had it for a little while now. I tried to use it in a pinch and found out it doesn’t see any input Although unlike the app for the F8n you can actually open it and demo the app sort of. Wait never mind I tried it on my iPad and it worked I don’t get it is it just not like my iPhone or like me I’m confused it will use the device is microphone on the iPad but I don’t know what’s up on the iPhone.

Very buggy. Don't use this app with their mic.. Along with the ancient design, removing any file created out of the app is very limited. Tried to upload via SoundCloud and kept crashing due to the app's inability to upload any file over 25mb. Frustrating and completely useless for my purposes.

Unproductive, please update!!. Not being able to record with the amazing video quality on your phone is not productive and is a big let down. Also, not having “airdrop” or “wi-fi” sharing is very unproductive when recording WAV’s to your phone. You guys need to get current. This is a wonderful idea but seemingly archaic technology, takes me to the 90’s, emailing hires audio files??. Please update!!

Powerful Professional Simple. This is the second TV Pilot I’ve edited where all the voice over is done using an iPhone with this App. I send the script, the talent go somewhere quiet and read, I have them in the timeline in seconds. We bought the Zoom external mic but you don’t need it. Great app.

Not recording anymore!. I LOVE this app. I have been using it with my iQ7 mic for years and have enjoyed every minute of it... until I updated to iOS 12. Now my old files will play, but the record function doesn’t seem to be working anymore (with or without the external microphone). Please advise so I can get back to the awesome that was this functional app!

Didn’t work until reinstalled. V4 did not pick up any sound from the iPad internal mic. I deleted and reinstalled the app and it seems to work now. Very strande but I hope it continues to function.

No Longer Supported. Loved this App, and bought the Zoom stereo microphone for it. Developer no longer supports it. I can still record with it, but no more firmware updates or direct posting to SoundCloud. It’s terrible for consumers when companies do this. At least the mic works with GarageBand and my digital pocket recorder. If it worked like it once did I would give it 5 stars.

Needs work. Clunky interface; no way to scroll through recorded tracks, no editing tools, not even the most rudimentary. Can’t even rename tracks! Worst of all is the export; can only send files out via email or to SoundCloud. No way to send to another app. No updates in over a year.

Has potential. The app use to work ok, now it will not record with a working mic, just hear clicks and then stops recording.

Not Even Worth The Time To Download It. This app is literally just a play/ploy to get you to buy their hardware. You can’t use it without sending your recordings to the cloud (email, iCloud, or SoundCloud) and the Pro version doesn’t let you find the recordings made within this version. If your intention is to publish whatever you record without any editing whatsoever, this is your app. If you prefer to process (or even normalize and crop) before publication, this is something to be avoided.

Doesn’t work. The app doesn’t seem to work at all. The mic works in other apps, but this app, that I was looking forward to using for its compatibility with the mic, doesn’t work. It shows it’s recording, the mic lights show it’s picking up sound, but now levels show in the app, and no sound is recorded. Now I need to decide if I should just return the mic and figure out a different option.

Not working. It used to work well, but stop working recently. I re-downloaded it and it turned out not asking for access to my microphone. So, apparently it doesn’t have the access now and is not functioning at all.

Sound issue. Records with a crackling sound in the background. Please fix this Zoom.

No sound?. I press record and it records. I press playback and there’s no sound!!! Only happened after this new version. Any ideas why? I’d like to keep it cos it has all my old files in it but will obviously have to look elsewhere if I can’t fix this issue :( I like the new interface tho.

Needs more options for sending files. Badly needs to support cloud file services like Dropbox, Google drive and Onedrive, and to allow sending files directly to other apps.

‘Focus and Wide’ slide bar. I cannot slide along the ‘focus > wide’ to control recording width, even when the zoom iq7 is attached. It just doesn’t let me click onto it. Please help. Thank you.

New update a terrible mistake. New update absolutely unbelievable- why app developers never ask end users before they release an update? I am considering deleting this app and investing in a new one. Would not recommend to anyone with weaker eye sight, the previous version was clear and easy to see all the functions/ this one - I ended up failing to record one file as I had no idea how the new interface actually works. It is small, messy and completely unfriendly to use and it actually looks horrible. Shame on you the developers!!!

Poor file sharing options. Does not support Files app or share to app functionality available in iOS, which is extremely limiting and out of date. Otherwise easy to use and seems to work well /as described. Am yet to check sound quality of recordings.

This was my fav app. This was my fav app before the 4. 0 update. The beauty was in its simplicity and practicality.

No bluetooth connection. May not play files on a bluetooth connection on external speakers. Also have to remove mic from phone in order to hear any file on the phones speaker. Long story short i will not use to practice music as its too unusable.

Pitiful reverb. Reverb quality is pitiful! Not worth the money

Only for iQ now?. "... changed for exclusive use with iQ series...." Does this mean the app now only works in conjunction with an iQ device or does it still work as a (great) standalone recorder for ios devices

How do I use this app?. Does anyone know where I can find the manual to use this app? I’ve hunted their website high & low, and I can’t find anything.

Terrible. Zoom device works great with other apps, but not with this one. Too bad, I was looking forward to trying out the advertised features, which were the MAIN reason I buoght the zoom over the Rode unit. Lesson learned.

I don’t get it. I own an H4 and the swanky mic. I’ve made hundreds of recordings with just my phone however. Recently I’ve realized that the recordings I thought I’ve made of my elderly mom are all for nought. When I record directly with my iPad or iPhone I get nothing. The mic which I bought doesn’t fit in my phone because of the protective casing I have. Sounds like a way to way to nickel and dime people into buying your products. Just make us pay pay a few bucks for the app and make it work properly.

Doesn’t work. This app doesn’t work with my iPhone 6 and iQ6 microphone. The changes in amplitude cannot be seen on their graphic representation. I would return the microphone to amazon but it does work with the native iPhone recorder , albeit with only a small improvement in sound quality. I wanted this to work and invested a few hours in sorting it out to no avail. Even for free this app costs too much!

Excellent sound quality, but terrible export possibilities. I really appreciate the sound quality of my zoom x7, and the effects available in the app are pretty good, BUT... Unfortunately, exporting audio to other apps is terribly poor. It’s pretty disappointing indeed. It’s impossible to export to any apps other than SoundCloud, while many other apps and services out there which we could benefit from. How about allowing export to Dropbox or google drive for a starter ? There is the possibility to export via email, but it is limited to 25MB. So, big files can’t be exported. Therefore, I felt stuck in my process which annihilates any desire to use the app. Too bad because it is promising, but right now it is not supporting my workflow. Come on Zoom. You can do better than that.

Disapointing. I thought it worked pretty well, but when your project is done, if the soundtrack is too heavy to send by email, it’s impossible to share or even save it in your mobile device. It’s really disapointing...

App literally just doesn’t do what its supposed to. App doesn’t record. I have to use my Apple voice memos app to use the hardware that I purchased that was made to work with this app. So I know the microphone works because it works with the Apple app but it has never worked with the zoom app and I’ve been trying for years.

Not working on iOS 14.5. Come on Zoom - this used to be a great App for those of us with one of the IQ Mics. Now it just doesn’t work in the latest iOS version, no waveforms. Either keep the App up to date or pull it from the App Store.

Umm.... Downloaded this to record at 48 kHz as advertised, but dialog warns "function not supported"

iOS 10 or lower only!. Does not work on iOS 11 or 12. Zoom has statements on their website noting this. Disappointing that Zoom won't either update the app or give us a new app. I do have an older device (iOS 9) that it works on. It's terribly outdated. They say they wanted the UI to match their handheld units, which is ridiculous. Export options are poor. Use Apple's Voice Memos or another app.

Unbelievable!!! Studio Sound in your Pocket.. Wish this technology was available 20 years ago. Some of us old guys know the price of this technology twenty years ago. Just amazing what you guys/gals have done here. Keep up the incredible work. Audio is King! Using iP 6 plus and is working well beyond my expectations.

Doesn’t save your music and you can’t export. Bought your expensive mic that works okay, kind of fuzzy, downloaded the app and made a little music sample that I wanted to share and export but it doesn’t even let me do that. Why bother making an app that doesnt even work right or let you share your music creations ... so disappointed, sending my mic back :(

Does not work. Does not work on latest iOS !!!! Monitoring works through the jack on the mic and settings seem to but the audio coming isn’t

Ho to Download large files. You can download large files. On your computer-connect & select your device to iTunes, scroll to the very bottom of iTunes page & you will see the option to download you files onto your computer. If you need more directions do an internet search for video instructions.

This is a fun app. I think this app has a lot of potential I would like to see some unique features such as supporting Bluetooth speakers, and support for dropbox. If these features already exist please let me know about them.

Used to work, not anymore. I have an iQ5. Mic picks up and I can hear the monitor, but I get no levels at all

Needs work - no background recording. This app provides some elaborate recording features but lacks one: no recording when the phone screen lock feature is activated (3 mins of inactivity) recording stops. Other recording apps like Voice Record do a fairly better job using the same hardware (iq7 mic) and similar software parameters (wav, 41 kHz, 16 bit) since they smoothly record when the phone is locked. They however cannot take advantage of the mic's special recording settings 120 deg, m/s mode). This background needs to be fixed in order to turn this software into a usable product for recording. I will return the mic.

Love This App. I'm a musician and this app has been great for recording rehearsals and live shows, very EZ with lots of features. Thanks ZOOM

Doesn’t work at all. The app doesn’t register the sound at all. Worthless.

Latency issues. Signal coming in is delayed by a few mili seconds which makes recording with headphones almost useless. Fix this please

Great sound quality with IQ5; Needs Dropbox Support. I received my IQ5 in the mail earlier this week and am pleasantly surprised with its performance with this app. Sound quality and effects are all top notch. Dropbox upload or an export option besides SoundCloud would be nice.

Good, but.... app functions well, but it would be nice if there were a way to get at the files other than Soundcloud, and if I could record in mp3 rather than wav. My biggest dissappointment is it won't play to a bluetooth speaker. I use it to record band practice sessions and would like to play it over my jambox without having to fool with yet another cable. Having said that though the soundquality with the iq5 and app is very nice.

Use often .... But still needs work. I use this over other apps with my zoom mic because of native m4a recording. I hate the options to only upload to soundcloud and email. Please add support for Dropbox, Google Drive and airdrop. Then it will be my go to.

Sharing wanted. This app has great potential. I would like to be able to export files directly to Dropbox and share with other iOS apps.

"Interference". It appears that the app and the zoom mic I have are not communicating correctly (which is hilarious, considering this is ideally how it is supposed to work). Every playback is ruined by a constant clicking that doesn't happen when using the mic with the camera app, so at the moment there's no way for me to get "audio only" files - if I want to make a recording, it either must be video or have a clicking sound running the entire time.

Good app, limited sharing options. This is a pretty good app for a free phone recorder. The biggest issue is its sharing capability. I often make the decision to not use this app because I know that it won't be easy to share the file. The ability to share to google drive, Dropbox, or even just to airdrop the file would be wonderful.

Surprising Amount of Features for Free App. Just got this app after getting the Zoom IQ6. Note about exporting: I've seen a lot of reviews about the lack of exporting options. If the file is too big to email, use iTunes on your computer. After you connect your phone, click on "app" and select this app. It's so simple to import all the files directly to the computer. I haven't tried all of the features/settings, so this won't be a thorough review. I will say: I tried a lot of the free audio recording apps, and none of them have had features like the effects available (for ex: EQ and reverb). I'm impressed so far, with the mic and the app, and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better.

Good start. I like the user-interface - clean and simple to navigate. The included effects and zoomable waveform display are nice touches. Of course, there's always a wish-list: - multiple FTP export options (Dropbox, GDrive, WebDav, FTP, etc.). If it's important enough to record, it's important to have a useful backup and sharing method. - AIF, mp3, mp4 export formats - iOS audio-sharing and Audiobus support - more editing tools would be nice - fade, crossfade, cut/copy/paste/insert, etc. Hopefully Zoom will get on these and earn a couple more starts in my book.

Can't Export Files and No Support on Site. I have the iQ7 with an iPhone 6Plus running iOS 10.2.1. The file I recoeded (44 minutes of wav audio) cannot be exported via email because it is too large and Handy Recorder provides only one other option, SoundCloud - which woud be fine if it worked at all. Handy Recorder does NOT upload to SoundCloud and for some insane reason Zoom did not see fit to allow a Dropbox option. Additionally, while users of previous versions note that they can attach their phone to their computer via USB, click on the phone and then on apps or do the same through iTunes, guess what, Handy Recorder does not show up. So, I have an important project stuck in my pnone and Zoom has made it IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT OUT!!! I'm not sure I have ever been this angry at a product. One more little thing, as of iOS 10 there is distortion that has comes up in recordings. On their site Zoom says they "apologize for any inconvenience" but it has been months and there is no fix. So the answer to my future projects is clearly the Shure mic. As for the iQ7, it's worthless.

Needs to a file export update. I'm a musician and use this app with my Zoom IQ7 microphone to record demos and field recordings. There is no option for me to export any file over 25mb unless I want it to go on SoundCloud. There is no cloud upload option, and therefore my larger file sized recordings are stuck in the app, never to be edited on my computer. No one should have to download SoundCloud if they don't want to. iCloud exists, don't get this app if you plan on using any recordings over than five minutes off of your phone.

Works well. Good recorder I'm not using a zoom mic on my iPhone and would like to see if the improves audio. Otherwise with iPhone mic and the ability to adjust input level it helps by not overdriving the mic. App seems pretty stable (doesn't crash when using) and sound quality is decent.

Awesome with no hidden cost. I use this with the native iPhone 5s mic and capture clear, accurate dialogue and ambience. Coupled with this app's editing/enhancement tools and the fact I can easily transfer the recorded files via iTunes, makes the Zoom HandyRec. the best of its kind.

Update Is Desperately Needed. The developer needs to update this app to work with iOS 13. Zoom IQ7 does not record anything.

Ok, but NO EXPORT OPTION?. It's absolutely ridiculous that there's no export option to save to dropbox or any decent option. Why create a pretty great app, and completely ruin it by offering no way other than e-mail to get the files out of the app??? Major fail.

Worked well for my application. I was looking for a simple recording app that I could set to start/stop on sound - took me a few tries to get the levels correct, but once I got it set, very easy and clean. As other reviewers have commented, I would love to see other sharing options, especially like to see Dropbox added. I would also like an easier way to view and move/delete my files, as well as see the file attribute (size, date recorded, etc)

One problem. Works great, sounds great, the only problem I have with the recording software is the limited sharing options. You can only share recorded audio via email (which has a size limit) and SoundCloud. Really wish they had an air drop feature and other means of sharing options.

pretty good. As a recorder there are a lot of nice features. I dig the mid side recording. Biggest outstanding issues are: 1) Lack of export utilities ( sound cloud times out for all but shortest clips, missing “open with” / audio copy ). Be prepared to sync to your laptop to share. 2) Destructive and time consuming splits. Cutting a track into sections appears to rewrite files.

Good app with one MAJOR problem. Whoever designed this apparently forgot to set it so that it doesn't let the display go to sleep. Because once it does, the mic cuts off! Yes, so you have to keep tapping the screen if you want to monitor the recording. Also no way to rename files from the screen. Otherwise the mic is pretty nice and the app works.

Big tease. The app is great...if you don't want anyone to ever hear your recording. Why in the world would Zoom go to the trouble of making such a great recording app,and offer SoundCloud sharing THAT DOESNT WORK! I'm a musician that plays in a small Church. I thought it would be great if we could record the music and sermon to anyone that wanted to hear it. If this app delivered on its promise, I could do just that! Come on, ZOOM! Get it together!

Buggy - I lost two important recordings. I made two very important recordings today which I cannot get again. They were too big to email hence soundcloud was only option. While uploading to soundcloud, it gave upload error. After that, the file is totally lost. I don’t see it listed in the files screen nor when I connected my iPhone 6Plus to my desktop. I am mad at it.

Found a glitch. I concur with everyone's complaint about file exports. Recordings had a strange background hum. I discovered that it was the battery in my Mophy case that was causing the hum. Phone can stay in the case, but the battery switch on the case needs to be switched off.

Great. I would live to see other export options like google drive or drop box as well as different export file types. The app it's self is not very visually appealing but it certainly gets the job done.

Almost perfect. Zoom makes some great recording devices--my H4n and Q3 are both superb. I got this app to go with the iQ5 to record my concert bands in class through an iPad Mini. All it needs now is AirPlay access so I can play back the recordings immediately in class via AppleTV or an AirPlay receiver. Please include that feature in an update soon--and I'll make it a 5-star rating. Keep up the good work!

Not bad if you understand its purpose.. If you expect to get broadcast quality recording from this on a phone then you will be disappointed. This app is designed for voice recording or capturing sounds around you for playback at a later time. This will NOT replace a field recorder. I wish the gain control was available on the main screen and adjustable during recording. It's hard to set the proper level ahead of time.

Decent, but needs legitimate export options. I own lots of Zoom recorders; H4n, H6, H1. So, I was hoping this would be as quality as their other products. This might be their first mobile app, so I'm hoping for upgrades that makes this app useable. This is meant for use with the iQ6/5, presumably to record music or podcast-type audio. While it can do that, making use of the file afterward is a headache. There are two options: email and SoundCloud. Many files will be too big for email, and no one should be forced to send to SoundCloud. The two primary options should be Google Drive and Dropbox. Apps like iTalk, another recording app, have had the functionality to export to Dropbox for years. Seems an oversight to think musicians would want to publish directly to SoundCloud. Any artist would want to edit their work first, then publish. And everyone else wouldn't want to use SoundCloud anyway. I'm looking to record interviews to use as data for my work, why would I want that public? There are minor user interface things, even options that don't do anything, but they are minor compared to the export issue. Would you buy a camera that only publishes to Flickr? No. No one would.

Good app, needs additional sharing options. This is much more flexible than apple's built-in voice recorder app and I use it for "fast and light" audio interviews often. I would use it even more if the developer added iOS sharing options.

No IOS update!. Two months and no update for IOS 12.1. Fail. I really wanted to use this app.

Good start, but needs an overhaul. I use this for recording song sketches and drum patterns. I like the 48kHz option, as I usually import the resulting .wav to my DAW for overdubs. But can Zoom please please please add an input compressor (even a really basic one)? Even with a low input threshold, digital clipping is still prevalent. Apple's voice recorder app can do better than that.

Need a laptop/desktop export app. There needs to be an app that allows you to export the files to your computer easily. I hate recording music, filling up my phone, and then not ring able to export the file.

I love zooms app but maybe it's time for an update?. Uploading to soundcloud is now crashing my iPhone 5s not sure why, maybe it is a bug. Anyway keep up the good work on products like the iq5!

App is useless-5 stars if I could. Downloaded Zoom Handy Recorder to an iPhone 6 using Os 12.1.1 App never asked to access Microphone It will record a file but no sound. Support section on website doesn’t offer help for iOS App. The app will work fine on my iPad but not the phone.

New version — ARRGH. Really liked this app before, but apparently all the new features in the latest version are a bit too much for my old iPhone 3GS to handle. Haven’t tried recording yet, but playback is stuttering very badly. Can I revert to the previous one…?

Works great!. Captures fantastic sound with a great stereo spread. Most bad reviews here are uneducated. Clicking noises on playback, in my experience, are only on iPhone playback, not on the file once it's exported. Export is VERY easy when you connect your phone to your computer and use iTunes to transfer the files. Go to your device in iTunes, go to Apps, scroll down to file management, and you'll see what to do.

No mp3 format. Why???. The iQS mic is awesome but this app needs work. There's no .mp3 format which is the standard industry for voice over auditions and useful in many other fields. I know many voice actors and rappers who have bought the iQS microphone but they use it with other apps because recording ideas and sending files on .mp3 uses less memory. For profesional recording .wav files are great but for recording ideas, auditions, long lectures, speeches and classes, mp3 format is the way to go. Please add that feature and I'll come back with 5 stars.

Excellent. i love Zoom, have a ton of their mics. This app is quite good. Not sure why I can't select anything better than 44.1 but it's still very solid. *The update description is a bit unclear. It seems to say unless you are using their device the app won't work? Sorry I'm not updating.

Please fix the export function. I am frustrated because the developer doesn't care about reading the reviews and fix the issues especially with the export functionality. Please add Dropbox export option and or iTunes options. How can you email 25mb files? Another improvement is needed is that the file won't play via Bluetooth earphones such as AirPods. Thank you for paying immediate attention to this and fixing this for your loyal customers

Sorely lacking, broken.... Very limited options for sharing files. The sole cloud sharing option repeatedly returns errors and fails. I'd prefer not to connect to iTunes every time I wish to make a transfer. Where's the support for common services like OneDrive or Google Drive?

Good easy app. Needs a couple things.. Nice app overall. Could use these things in my view: - ability to change file names and/or ability to name exported/clipped/trimmed file. - ability to show file info like length, size and recording date/time -mode with LARGE meter display for monitoring across the room Thanks

Export Problems. Works well with Zoom mic but pretty worthless because of limited export options ( email, which doesn't work because of size issues and Sound Cloud). I will need to find other options until this is improved.

Huh?. Looks awesome, records well in mono, but can't seem to get it into a stereo mode. Is there an upgrade option? Is it a limitation of my iPhone 5s? If there was support or a manual for this app, I wouldn't have to wonder. Not what I expected.
