Horrible user interface. Tournaments to watch doesn’t even load.

Why isn’t the WCC game loading?. I like to watch games live on the app. But as of right now, the Carlsen-Caruana game shows as “yet to begin”. It started 3 hours ago, and I’ve been watching it in the browser. Fix this, and I’ll give you the five stars back.

Best well round chess app. This is probably the best all in one chess app for playing, watching live broadcast and listening to commentary. I wish they could include the auto play button when reviewing games without us having to press the arrow keys.

Great App, But Engine Always Crashes on iPhone XS Max. Chess24 is a great app and service. It lets you watch many top chess tournaments. But the on-phone engine analysis feature always crashes on our iPhone XS Max, after about 30-60 seconds (athough never on our 2013 iPad). Ches24 really needs to fix this ASAP.

Great app -- needs Notifications!. I love it. Really great overall -- but notifications/time starts would be the best ever! Some of the web pages are not clear about start times. Notifications on the app would be amazing!

Horrible. This is by far the worst chess app. The idiot developers essentially forgot about this app. AND when you do play, the win/loss calculation is frankly retarded. How would someone lose over 40 points when they play someone who’s less than 200 rating points from them??????? Mr. Developer, you’re an IDIOT. APP DELETED.

Load times are terrible. I like to keep track of tournaments on my phone through this app. However, the load times on the app are horrible. I sometimes have to close the app and reopen it before the current tournament list will load.

Time glitch. The app allows for time glitches that cost you several games that you should win. If you disconnect you should at least be given a 10 -15 second reconnect

Can’t login with Facebook. Terrible app

Still the best and most comprehensive chess app. Read the news and watch live tournaments, then play a game or two, and check your mistakes with the engine right afterwards. Awesome.

Keeps freezing since latest update. I have been playing on this app almost every day for a few years now. Since the latest update a week or two ago, the app keeps freezing during games, resulting in me losing games (and many rating points) for “losing connection.” But there is nothing wrong with my connection. Other apps including other chess apps are working fine. Please fix this so that I can start enjoying this app again and get my rating back up!!

No increment setting?. Only increment game available is 3 2. Would be better if you could customize time, increment settings.

Bugs are awful. The tactics trainer routinely subtracts rating points when it should add and vice versa. It also has routine time out problems. I’ve brought this to their attention months ago and they still haven’t done anything. So frustrating.

It’s keep freezing. Since the last update the app freezes costs me games Pls fix it

Terrible especially on iPhone x. This is the most irritating app I have ever used. The controls you have to use to scroll through moves or while solving puzzles are horribly misplaced. They are at the very bottom of the screen on a narrow strip. They are partially covered by iPhone X’s line at the bottom. When I try to hit the arrow for next move, I keep hitting the notation and end up somewhere near the end or wherever that notation point is because the margin for error is do small. This makes whatever other features they have useless, because I cannot scroll through game without losing my temper. Whoever designed this app should be fired.

Poor design. The interface is not intuitive. The app is a blemish for Chess24. Who would subscribe to their service after trying this out? The tactics trainer interface behavior is odd (that is if you can figure it out).

Needs Work. As a longtime chess player (1900+) and avid chess technology user, I’m going to give my feedback in hopes the developer takes it seriously. The chess playing interface and controls are mediocre at best. Very limited time control options. No incremental time options (2/1, 3/2, etc). No ability to control rating range of players. No ability to limit play to members only so you get guests a lot. The board isn’t very nice, the piece color options are limited, etc, etc. Maybe I missed a set of options somewhere but that would be an issue also. User friendliness is critical.

GOAT for News/Livestreams. iOS live stream is broken... It's being fixed though ;) I don't use this app for games (Shredder), but it's the greatest for news and tournament broadcasts

Frustrating. During the recent Olympiad there was a setting somewhere to choose between the High Definition video stream (also known as "freezes-doesn't work") and the Standard stream (aka "works fine"). Now I'm trying to watch the Sinquefield Cup and as far as I can tell the latest version of the app has removed this setting, leaving the HD default as the only choice. So on my devices at least (both my iPhone 5 and a recent vintage iPad), it won't work. Video plays for about 10 seconds, then freezes (audio continues streaming).

Using it a lot. The app was recommended by somebody in my chess club, so I wanted to give it try. Now I find myself using it almost daily, checking out current tournaments or playing some games myself. I'm actually surprised the app is free for what it offers. Good stuff by chess24

Bug in the app. Whenever we castle or the opponent castles the app can goes into a weird state where it counts down the opponents time but at the end it says I lost due to timeout. If I quit the app and start it and resume the game, the castling move has not been recorded and same countdown starts again. This started a few weeks back. Due to this it has become unplayable.

The articles are awesome. I always struggle to find quality news reporting on chess games. With the word championship going on I ran into one of the chess24 articles on the web and I was thoroughly impressed at the quality of content in he article. They had Twitter comments, cartoons and in very well composed. Kudos to whoever is writing your news report on the world championship.

It’s okay. I don’t understand the complaint it’s a okay chess app. There is some things that are not adding unlike other chess apps. There is still puzzles and more. They also have a Magnus bot. The rating also starts you at 1500.

Huge issue. I made an account, tried to log in, said my password was incorrect, had an email sent to me to reset my password, link didn't work, so now I can no longer make an account because a 2 minute old dead account holds the email that I use

Won’t let me login. I registered, did everything it told me to do in the email, and I still can’t login. I’ve tried two email addresses too! And every time I try to register with the same account. It tells me I have to login with that account, but logging in doesn’t work! The only reason it has a star is because I’ve seen Magnus Carlsen play on it and it looks really cool.

Follow top games. Basically use it to follow all top games.

Great app with on major flaw. You may be ahead on time, but once in a while will still lose, even though the opponent's time has ran out. The app will stop and, after about a minute or two, or whatever time you have remaining, will inform you that you lost on time. Enraging.. The app was updated not too long ago and the issue is not as prevalent as it used to be, but it still does it from time to time.

Help. Keep getting problems getting my email password back

Trash. Unable to register. The app says that the data is in the wrong format, but does not specify the field that’s wrong or what the format should be.

Won’t even let me register for the site.. The app won’t even let me register for the site. Won’t even recognize a garden variety Gmail address as valid. This does not inspire confidence in the competence of your coders. If it can’t even let people register smoothly, what else will it fail to do?

Way too many bugs to actually use. Lost many games due to time control issue. Sounds don't always work. Clock placement is confusing.

Clean the Tournament Broadcast section please.... Not sure how to get your attention: I reported this this bug via email three times in the past few months. There are half dozen tournaments listed as live at the top that have concluded months ago. Just edit the table manually to mark them as "finished" if the bug takes too long to fix.

Game time inaccurate. I have lost several games when my opponent's clock runs out, not mine. App clock seems quite inaccurate when time is running low. Also, no sounds on ipad2 even when turned on. Would be nice to have landscape view and chat feature, as with the online version. Otherwise, nice interface and fun to play.

Great app but a few bugs I think. I love this app with all the videos and broadcasting it does. I think there might be a problem with the engine though as sometimes the computer just gives up rooks and says equal (not for compensation just clear hanging pieces). It would also be nice in the video section to have a reset filter option as once I search for something I can't go back and scroll through all the videos. The video option in the broadcast doesn't seem to be working as well but I'm not sure if that's just because of recent changes in broadcast options. But great app and recommended to all chess lovers :)

Tournaments page not load. Chess24’s tournament list has a bunch of interesting tournaments to follow. Recently that tab takes forever to load.

Great broadcast. A great app for a company just starting out. The broadcast is great. I enjoyed watching Olympiad. Watching the Sinquifeld cup was fantastic. The commentary was great, and being able to play lines on the board and explore was awesome. All I had to do was hit one button to go back to the live board they were commenting on. Only negative is premium members should get a lot more.

Saved analysis gets auto deleted. The engine is good but the app is very buggy. If I save an analysis then it stays for a while but then gets auto deleted after a few hours. Their website is much better than their app. Maybe they should remove the app altogether and just focus on the website if that is what they are doing anyways.

Mouse Slips!!!. This app will make mouse slips way often than other apps. Especially when playing blitz or bullet. I lost a lot of games due to this.

No tournaments and clock too small. No regular tournaments to join (unlike lichess) and clock is small and out of the way so hard to play and watch your clock.

Cant even log in.. I can’t even log in with my basic email please fix this

One of the worst I’ve ever seen. Terrible

Bad element of a great site. Chess 24 is a wonderful site with excellent tournament coverage and great training materials created by top GMs like Jan GUSTAFSON and PETER Svidler who work for them. But the play zone and the iPad app are DOGS and it's really a shame. The iPad app hasn't had a meaningful update in ages. You will lose games you have in fact won, the app will crash in the middle of a game, the responsiveness and feel are slow and poor all around. Its a pity, their gms are strong but their coders are patzers!

The best place to watch chess online. The app works well too.

Not good. I don’t like this app. You play a game and you can’t send messages. Plus, when you finish the game, there is no history of the games you played and you can’t go back to review them. So stupid

Good chess app, just one problem. One of the best chess app. However, the only problem that I experience is that when I use this app my phone overheat too much. I have an iPhone 7. Hopefully with an update this issue can be resolve.

Really frustrated with this crap software. Just posting this to get the developers to fix this game or scrap it. Glitches. A lot of glitches with time. I have lost a bunch of games where my opponent has no time left but my time still continues to run.

App freezes. Needs fix.. The app has consistently froze on me causing me to lose games. This app needs a patch.

Unsupported app. The app no longer shows tournament standings. Frustrating. The app/site/trademark was recently acquired and the new management doesn't respond to user inquiries. I won't renew my subscription under current conditions.

Clock stops. The clock frequently stops leading to loss on time. The clock itself is far too small. Very bad deficiencies.

Crash bug. Most frustrating. Been working very well for 6 months but now crashes constantly. What I like the most is the “confirm move” function

No chat. I can't believe there's no chat. Why is there no chat? Will there ever be chat? I need chat. Have I made my point?

Lot of bugs. The app is very unstable, keeps crashing all the time (with or without engine running), and there are quite a lot of bugs in the app. The ones that are most annoying are that saved analysis cannot be opened/accessed anymore (got corrupted), there is no sound in chess24 training videos...so I cannot watch trainings I purchased on my phone. Honestly, I expected much better product from such a company that charges a lot for membership.

iPad Rotation. The ipad app doesn't support rotation we can't use the app in landscape mode. Especially me that use to the keyboard stand is so not comfortable. We love to see updates that allows landscape mode soon thanks.

Bug requiring fixing. There’s a recurrent bug where almost every time I play a game now, the opponent doesn’t make a move/ the game freezes but the clock continues to run and then eventually time runs out and I (!) have lost the game due to time.

Buggy. The app records and stores your games in a database on your phone, but prevents you from accessing them. Lame.

Indecent clock. Clock is the worst out there. Poor app. I like your chess channel but your app is not up to the main competitor. Sorry.

Slow, not well thought-through user interface. The moves feel really slow when made on the board. There’s often annoying lag that can lose you the game. Like I’d have 3 seconds, make a move, and my move would never reach the server and I’d lose on time... The user interface is not bad looking, but usability leaves a lot to be desired. The clocks are tiny. It takes some effort to read the time. Once you finish a game, you can’t replay it in portrait mode (because the option you need to select gets pushed to the side, which you can reveal if you go landscape). The replay buttons are tiny and finicky to operate. C’mmon developers, you can do better!

Can’t login. Created an account on the website, can’t login on the app. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Unreliable & frequently crashes. Frequently crashes between games. I kept ignoring the lack of features in the app. I also didn’t really mind it being slow so many times. But, it hangs, crashes and you end up loosing your ranking and points and games!! Lost a 150 points within a day due to this app crapping out. I’ve uninstalled the app and will never go for it again.

Timer froze. Chess24 has so many bugs. The timer often stops working but your time keeps running in the background making you lose the game! Its so frustrating!

Nightmare of a game. On a rematch after a loss (high stakes lol) I had 0.24 seconds left when I pre-moved (move my queen before he made his move) to checkmate the guy. But I somehow lost on time. It was going to be epic instead I wished the death of the developers.

Cant review my games. We cant view our games on the ios app... neither our friend’s games!!

Can’t even log in. The app is glitchy you can’t even log in without calling their stupid support number.

Language Setting. Can someone please help me?? I have the chess 24 app in german Language but I want to have it in english. I Unterstand nothing in german.

Analysis engine crashes app during analysis. I thought I would give chess24 another try after cancelling a year ago, but it was a mistake. Any time I try to use the engine on my iPad Pro it crashes after about 30 seconds. It’s not worth the subscription.

Very buggy. I have tried this app for 2 weeks now and i can confidently say it’s a very bad chess app. Let me start by saying i tried to play 3 game these last 3 days on this app and i was never able to finish any of them because the game would freeze and can’t move or go to settings or any of the features on the app and when i close it and restart it the game will be lost .Secondly the UI in this app is not appealing compared to chess.com , and moving the peices is not smooth as it should be for a chess game.

Fix iOS bug. For the love of god please fix the iOS bug that makes it look like you’re waiting on your opponent and when their time runs out it tell me I lost not the opponent. I’ve already emailed you twice about this

Garbage Phone App. Website not bad. Phone app is absolute trash. Clock stops running and just freezes. Game freezes when opponent is down to less than one second, then runs YOUR clock out even if you have a minute or more. Absolutely pathetic. Uninstalling now.

Terrible. Waste of time. They want you to upgrade to premium to use the features which costs a fair bit considering it is a monthly contract!

Slow app and they nickel and dime you. I signed up to be a premium member. Now i have to pay extra to be a premium member on my phone! It’s not 1998. Def canceling my membership

Not for me.. Site is good but unfortunately it's full of little boys who have a temper tantrum when they are lost and rather then resign just walk away and leave you sitting there waiting for all their time to expire. I'd recommend a site where the players are more mature.

Crashes. App crashes on current Iphone Xs max with latest IOS. 12.3.1. Just using tournament viewer and navigating between games and clicking on the eval button.

App crashes on iPad. Whenever I try to use the analysis feature the app crashes. Plus it keeps forgetting my preferences on board, sounds, arrows, etc. If the people at chess24 don’t care enough about their customers to fix this crappy app, they’ve lost my business.

Has all the ingredients; woefully under baked. Why not take this app across the finish line and make for a great spectator experience. Would love to be able to review a completed game without it resetting to the final position every 30 seconds. Would love to see premium tournaments jump out at me.

App is shutting down. The chess 24 app is shutting down every time you try to go to any function. Anyone else having the same problem? This started to happen yesterday 12/20/15.

Too hard. They claim Kevin is a 500 rating and is a "noob" but he's harder to beat than the middle rated computer. Kevin moves too fast and the middle moves too slow. Nice app but cut down the F'in computer strength.

Horrible. First game playing, if you pick the piece if you tap anywhere it will move it, you cannot cancel it. Horrible design, go playing chess.com it’s 100x better

Not functional for games. I’m sick of playing on an app that won’t accept my ability to move after two moves because it can’t detect that my opponent has moved and then causes me to lose on time. I’m a paying customer and stuff like this will ensure I do not remain a paying customer.

Probably the worst. Have tried nearly every chess app available and have been surprisingly pleased with the top ones. Unfortunately, I've found Chess24 to be most disappointing. It's problems start with a really bad design and ends with being educationally confusing. IMO, apps like Crafty and Chess Pro are light years ahead of this sophomoric new entry.

Great app, but.... What the heck is up with not being able to search based on rating? It’s ridiculous; I’m being paired with people ~200-300 above me every game, which lowers me even further. Its incredibly frustrating. Please fix this and make it so that we can search for a game based on rating.

Landscape mode please!. Need landscape mode!

Overpriced. This app is overpriced, I will never pay 16.99 for just a year membership. It's a shame because it's good for viewing chess tournaments. But in all other ways chess.com has it beat.

Videos dont work. Horrible app, I bought some videos and was looking forward to watching them on my ipad but only the free videos show up

Terrible, no amount of endorsements help. The crux of the issue is that this app, despite the attention and praise it gets from many famous players, is barely functional. It is clunky and slow, the interface is terrible, and it is clear the paid endorsements are flat out lying about enjoying the use of this piece of garbage. It is truly horrific how slow, laggy, and generally ugly the experience is. I don’t like chess.com or lichess all that much(they have their own issues) but this has driven me right back to them. Don’t listen to all the pro chess players suggesting the use of this app. They’re lying through their teeth for a paycheck from a company that clearly thinks throwing money at marketing is more important than creating a halfway decent product.

Constantly shuts down. App used to be good, now crashes when you click on anything. For example, launch tactics trainer. App shuts off. Go back into it. Try and watch a live tournament. App shuts down. Terrible!

Super app. One of the best chess app. Live events with grandmaster live analysis, chess tactics, play against computer, play against other players. Professional interface, professional level for commentary. This app is great for beginners and advanced players all the way to IMs and GMs ( grandmasters). Highly recommended !

Ugo. Each time I castle I can no longer see my opponents move next thing his time get finished and I lose, serious am loosing some rating over this issue

Unusable. I first tried registering through the app, and it said the “data” entered is in the “incorrect format”. I double checked my username, email, and password for illegal characters and extra spaces in case their login system is strict. Nope, all perfectly fine. Okay, so I went to the website and registered for an account rather than using the app. I was able to register (same “data” entered) and I return to the app to log in. “Sorry, but we cannot find a member with that login information.” Fine, let’s double check…all correctly entered. I try again, and get the same message. It seems that chess24 is really against you using their app on iPad (2022 Air 5).

Best App for Watching Live Games. Where chess24 shines is in its live broadcasts. You get basically full access without paying a dime.

Unplayable. Incredibly awful latency. It’s the app, not my connection. Chess.com runs fine as does every other social gaming app I have installed. Tried restarting, reinstalling, no avail. Now I’m just unistalling

The app keep crashing. Nice app but it keep crashing all the time, lacks the feature of auto play, the android version is more stable. In iphone better to use other application.

Broken clock. No excuse for not fixing clock, time stamping and forfeit messages. General offerings good but a distant second to ICC for on line live play.

Home bar Not working. I dont know what you did but home bar now interferes with buttons down bellow. Hint, stop, etc. Please correct This annoyance

Unacceptable bug in app (iphone X). I „lost“ countless games on time - after I make a move the time of my opponent counts down and after some additional wait it says I (!!!) lost on time. A ridiculous bug. I generally like the app and was considering making a monthly subscription. But with such a bug it is certainly not happening! Fix it first!!

4/7/15 UPDATE. Landscape mode PLEEEEZ???

Horrible app!. The board is small and opaque and needs to be redesigned to make it as good as that of Lichess. The execution of the plays is slow and they have an inconvenient delay for the bullet game mode. Can it be worse than that? Maybe

Very good chess but it crashes sometimes. It’s a good chess app but it crashes whenever you’re too quick to press the resign and the back button arrow after you lose against the computer engine. The pop up window freezes. It needs to be removed. The pop up alert that says “bad luck you lose” is the culprit. It’s what makes the app crash. To the app developer: I suggedt you put a double slash in your alert code if you are using swift code or Objective C code to remove the alert. Otherwise its a good app.

Landscape mode please.. Will keep installed, but not using it often due to no landscape mode.

Ai crashes app to avoid losing. It’s insane how when I’m beating the most difficult Ai on the app the app crashes 9/10 never anytime else . So I don’t get the win it’s super frustrating really ruins the feeling of wanting to play . There’s almost no satisfaction of the hard work in those games .
