Impaktor App Description & Overview

What is impaktor app? * "Without doubt the most powerful and genuinely useful percussion app on the App Store right now" Computer Music
* Reached the #1 paid music app in 5 countries
* SonicTouch (www.sonicstate.com) gold award

Impaktor is a drum synthesizer with a vast sonic palette, that turns any surface into a playable percussion instrument.

You just slap your desk like you would a real drum. The real acoustical impulses from the built-in microphone are used as an excitation source for advanced sound modules that simulates behavior of membranes, cymbals, metallophones or strings. This makes Impaktor a highly responsive and expressive instrument.

With semi-modular architecture and several types of synthesis, Impaktor can produce a wide range of tones, from acoustic, like Tabla, Djembe, Marimba, Cymbals, Metal bars to electronic or industrial sounds.

Enjoy the most realistic virtual drumming experience available for mobile devices!

* The app requires headphones to prevent accoustic feedback. To minimize latency use wired models.

Works great with a drum trigger pad. I’m getting full joy with this app, and a Roland PD-5 rubber drum pad, like for V-drums. It’s very playable and responsive, like an instrument. Great range and nuance to sound depending on how you play. It is interesting how it works, it seems to kind of transform the actual sound of the trigger, rather than playing samples. My setup is using an old iPad 4 to run this exclusively and am using a previously useless $30 irig Stomp pedal, to get the trigger into Impaktor. The irig stomp is intended for plugging a guitar into the headset mic jack, and it murders the tone, but here, it serves great for just getting the pad trigger into the iPad, without having to use an audio interface. If I could have one thing for this app, it would be midi clock sync, to use the internal looper to get layers going, with the quantize. Great, unique app. Highly recommended for drummers and percussionists looking to work in some great electronic sounds, like the Synare did in bands like Joy Division and the Cure.

Buyer beware. App is broken and developer is non-responsive to emails.. This app states it supports InterAp audio. It does not. Will not load in any Interapp audio program apparently This is a well-known issue and if you search the Internet there are multiple posts in different audio forums discussing this. Developer does not respond to any of them. Tried direct emailing developer several times but no reply. Developer needs to either update description to not supporting inter app app audio or remove from App Store as this is strictly why I purchased the app and I would like my money back. I would be careful about buying any other products from this developer as they do not offer any support.

Excellent app. Just got it today but I can already see the possibilities with it! I just hope background audio is introduced and maybe some midi control for playing with other apps. Great app so far though.

WOW. We already know that Beep Street can make some really great synths. I learned that from Sunrizer. What ever they are doing for input filtering is working great! I played with this in a room with a TV on and friends talking, it worked fine even then. I'm also running it on an iPod 4 with no lag and no crashes. The live looping recorder is super easy to use and it's really quick to get to any control in the app, I think that they put a lot of thought into the interface, and it shows. Thank you guys, this is great!

Great app but Audiobus is not working. I am a hand drummer and this is the only app I know of that allows true organic beats (non-quantized) — like I do on a tabla, conga, dumbek, etc. So, I would like to give this 5 stars, because it really is in a class by itself…however, Audiobus has not successfully launched the app for months so there is no way to use a studio workflow with other apps and that prevents this from being something you can actually use for real work.

Great but. This app is fantastic. Great sound quality and you can even tweet sound. This app has better deal than any other drum machine app. If the place is too noisy, go to setting and turn down the sensitivety. If you don't like the sound then tweek it. Need to use it on DAW? Record it and export it. This app has everything, and specially in $3 this is steal. Try it out. You won't regret it.

Wow. I was hesitant to get this app at first... After owning a Korg Wavedrum Mini (which, for those of you who don't know, produces a similar result through the use of a clip on device), I didn't think an app could produce anything as good as that. Well sorry Korg, I'm afraid Impaktor may just have you beat! (no pun intended) :) The thing that makes it better than the WD mini is that you can edit the sounds, and in a variety of ways too! ... sort of like tweaking an analog synth. Also, you can quantize your playing, a feature the WD Mini sorely needed. Plus, Impaktor has a metronome, another detail Korg overlooked. (And all this coming from a huge Korg fan.) Although, I will say that the app does need a little work, perhaps with responsiveness in some of the patches... but I like the fact that they plan on adding more sounds! I give it 5 stars because of it's already high quality, and because of the promise that it shows. I think this one of the best apps in the app store! Great work guys.

Great sound and great fun. Impaktor is unlike any other synth or drum tool I’ve played with. It sounds incredible and it’s easy to make great sounding rhythms.

Awful iPhone app. Totally useless on an iPad if you want landscape mode. This is just a cheesy iPhone app upgraded to iPad with no landscape mode. This is just a toy, not a real, useable music app. Rip off. If you put an app in the iPad section of the app store it should have a landscape mode. That’s what makes it an iPad app.

Awesome! But.... The lack of midi implementation, or even on-screen pads makes this unusable in any setting other than for very simple beat-making for ideas. With a drum synth as powerful as this, I'm constantly frustrated because I can't use any of these sounds with my band when we play live because of the mic's sensitivity, unless I want to go through the hassle of audiocopy. A professional-quality drum synth should have a formidable trigger setup for a professional setting. The concept of the dynamic velocity of the mic is great, but useless outside of the boundaries of a toy. This could be so much more, beepstreet! Get on that midi!

Great app but…. Used to love putting loops together on my iPhone X with this, but it will no longer run correctly after installing iOS 15 - it crashes every time I try to export a loop.

Great Update. Very glad the developer added 64 bit support to the app. Adding audiobus support allows a great app to be even better. Use headphones if you want to avoid feedback issues while you're drumming. Still the most expressive drumming app, it translates mic input into drum sounds with a variety of ways to tweak the sound and adjust the volume of the input from the mic. Try using a contact mic for additional options if you're wanting to perform live music.

everlastingly blown away. I rarely write a review but feel compelled to here. For me, this app is perfect for my music composing and I'm amazed at how well thought out it is in terms of sound comlexity. Its much more than I thought it was and love the way it interprets sound through the mic into so many varieties of output. I may never feel the need for another percussion instrument. Thanks so much for such a quality piece of creative sound making software. Just a note that sometimes it doesn't record when I'm recording in solo mode...

Not just a toy. Lots of potential. Sure it's fun to turn any surface into an instrument but Impaktor also works great with drum triggers! I use my iPhone on a mount and a drum trigger live on stage and it works great. My iPhone is on a mount within reach so I can change presets on the fly. It takes some work but with a little ingenuity, it can be very useful. I do have a few suggestions for the developer; sensitivity is a necessary setting which you have included but just as crucial for drum triggers is retrigger and threshold. This would give users the ability to properly calibrate a drum trigger. Also an audio import function seems like a no brainer to me. We want to play our own sounds too. Adding these features would be expand the demographic of Impaktor from novelty to professional application.

No Bluetooth. Right off the bat it doesn't work with my blue tooth headphones. Really? I have to carry two sets of headphones because beep street couldn't figure it out? I hate paying for half done apps that I can't use because some flaw isn't revealed! In its defense it showed great promise plugged in to my mixing board, but when it should of saved because I hit the 'save to disk' button and named it, it erased when I hit clear all..Erase all saved files? How can an app be so cool and so stupid? . Might be great but has unnecessary flaws and unintuitive design..

Audiobus.... Rumor has it that audiobus is coming, which would push this app into a range of use. To add this into the effects slot while running a sequencer through it could be really cool. I really dig playing my tablas and other percussion through this app. Can't wait for this app to update!!!

Very useful percussion app. Needs sync.. Edited. Still no sync, which is spoiling the effectiveness of this app for me. Otherwise|- Really nice app, love the sounds and layering loops. Would be even better with sync options or especially Ableton Link compatibility. Would breathe new life into this app. I’ve been looking for anything (even a desktop app) that does what this one does and still haven’t found it.

Really great!!!. I've never bothered rating an app, let alone writing a review, but this app is so good I wanted to help them out. I'm a musician and I often play shows solo by making loops, and this is such a nice change from the drum machine sound. You can create really great beats quickly, and if you spend some time tweaking the sounds the end product can sound great. This app was worth every penny. I'm sure it'd be great fun as a toy, but my sole reason for buying an iPad was to utilize it for music making. Now, it's the most versatile electronic instrument in my setup, and this app is a fantastic addition to it. Thanks!

Works for me!. I have many synth/drum machine apps, but one limitation is having to play on the screen for them. This feels much more natural to play on any surface to trigger the sounds. I haven't even had it for a week and it has already been updated with tap tempo and some other nice features. BeepStreet has put out several wonderful apps, and this just adds to the list. Thank you!

Unique, useful, awesome.. Impaktor is a great example of what iOS music is all about. It's part synthesizer, part drum app, and part noise machine. The "input" here is you tapping your finger on a desk, which registers as a synthesized "note" in the form of a drum beat, plastic pipe noise, or whichever of the several dozen presets you choose. You can create loops or play with AudioBus, and the synthesized rhythms have a human element to them because every hit is different and unique. You can even try tapping with your fingernail, a pen, or other object to see how that affects the output. The resulting sounds are recording-level quality, and unlike anything else in other apps. These range from 909 bass drums to snares to bizarre synthesized notes. My only gripe is that I wanted more! I would love some more hi-hat and cymbal sounds so that I can tap out rhythms like an actual drum kit. But nevertheless, great effort from BeepStreet and definitely worth a look.

Not working in GarageBand. The app works fine on its own, but it will no longer load into my GarageBand. I’ve a previously recorded Impaktor track that I had created a few months back when it was working fine.

Just awesome. As someone with limited study time, I need apps that don't need to be coddled obsessively to produce satisfactory sound. Impaktor works great this way. If you've tried the app and gotten annoyed with no headphones, just do yourself a favor and get some cheap phones. You can very easily drum, record, and rerecord each instrument as needed until you have something great!

Stunning Performance. This app is a small miracle. Every time I use it, I'm in awe of how good it is. I tap and beat on my table and it turns into recordable exotic drums, and every nuance comes through with no lag. The presets are terrific; and once I get use to those, I'm looking forward to creating my own. This app broke new ground in showing what the iPad can do. It's the future, now - very stimulating and inspiring; and with Audiobus, I can plug it right into GarageBand.

Truly MAGNIFICENT!!!. I have had this app for quite awhile, over a year now, and it just dawned on me that I have never given it the props that it so absolutely deserves. Anyone that loves music will love this app, not just percussionists. From adults that are musical, down to my toddler-aged son, this app is so organic and intuitive that it is nearly impossible not to come up with some amazing sounds on it, whether you're an amateur or a pro. I've played guitar, keys, and vocals for over 20 years, and I'm telling you, this is easily one of the top 5 music apps in the entire App Store. Trust a brother...& Tap on! *On a related note, I also highly recommend another app made by these same developers, called Sunrizer Synth. It is also incredibly unique and full of magical possibilities.

Incredible.. I own about 2 iPad pages worth of music apps, and this is one of my new favorites. All my life I've had the (maybe nervous?) habit of finger-drumming on whatever I'm near, so this is definitely fun for me. The responsiveness and sound quality are excellent and I use it to give my iPad songs a more human, less quantized feel.

Wow'd a skeptic.... I was leery about the sensitivity and the latency, when I read the description of this app. As drummer of 30+ years playing many different genres, I went into this thinking there was no way this app could accurately pick up fast 32nd note intricate drum patterns.( I mean, it took Roland 15 or so years before the vdrums triggering was at a usable level)...I was definitely wrong. I could go on for days about how good this app is, but all you have to do is read some of the reviews. It really is as good as everyone makes it sound. There are only a couple apps that I can truly say are must haves as far as music production, gigging, etc. This is definitely one of them.

The saving feature is broken. The keyboard opens up and glitches me stuck on screen I cannot save stuff.

Wicked cool!. This app is innovative and usable, I have quickly made a few beats that sounded awesome. The way the looping feature is set up is very helpful to making complex beats BeepStreet apps are becoming a no brainer to purchase, when I see them I know it will be good, keep up the good work! And thank you for this amazing app

Buy it!!!. This is one app you won't experience buyers remorse with! If your an iOS musician, digital audio producer, or a sound designer you'll find yourself making custom preset after preset! I'd intended to keep my review; short and sweet! But after playing with this app, I see why most reviewers have been long winded! It's a Brilliant music production app! This is my new sound design secret weapon!

Dude.... This is awesome! I'm one of those sad individuals for whom drumming is not just a thing to do to pretend to have a talent, but a way of life. This means anything around me is at risk of being thwacked rhythmically. This app brings out the worst in that habit, and to great effect. Tons of great preset sounds, a perfectly intuitive loop recorder, and an elegant interface all work together to bring this funky idea to life. Thanks guys! I can't wait to see what y'all do next!

Best app I've ever downloaded!. Very low/no latency time. I like it best when I put my phone on a paperback book and use Bic pens as sticks. The only constructive thing I have to say is that I wish it had a microphone selection option, so you can use iphone headphones with the mic built in to the cable, and still select the microphone on the phone itself. Otherwise, I just use over ear headphones and I 'm happy as a clam.

Don't know much about synths. But man, is this fun to play with. If you like drumming or tapping out rhythms on anything, this app is a ton of fun to play with. Gets velocity better than any other drums on iPad since it derives it from how hard you actually hit the surface rather than relying on the unreliable screen tapping methods (which don't really work ever). There is a lot of customizability here, too, and though I am unqualified to comment on its quality it seems deep and powerful.

Innovative. This brings something completely new to the iOS music apps! I'm having a lot of fun playing with this and for $5? It is going to be worth waaaay more than that in things I do with it! Such a revolution of music apps we are in and this one stands out!

Awesomeness. Thanks BeepStreet Team. This app is worthy of five stars. Impaktor is the best sounding synth and is very well built with sidechaining similar to NI Massive. On the current version, the only drawback is the recording function lacks a count-in. Also recording does not begin recording at the top of the measure. The bounce function is also a bit wonky. I'm hoping to see some great updates soon. Thank you BeepStreet.

It's amazing but. right now, as said by another before, the audio does crack severely. also, there should be an option to turn off the microphone, which enables the triggering of the pads using our fingers. maybe each pad could then be an one-hit XY pad, to replace the modulation done using the mic? I can't use this app in noisy place which limits where I can play. everything else is impressive, especially the synth portion. above all, I do hope you guys resolve the cracking audio soon!

Excellent app. While i am excited always to use this app it has a problem with IAA node. Not working with AudioShare / AUM …etc. Developer please fix this before your fantastic masterpiece end up as forgotten and abandoned. It will be just a shame. This is such a gem to audio world.

Great promise but needs more. Right off the bat, this app is perfect for the price. However, it would be even better if it had bluetooth capability and iTunes file sharing. This will greatly improve my recording experience. Thank you, BeepStreet!

Terrific. I have to say this app is really great. It sounds great too. It's musical and very useful. You can create just about any type of percussion you want. Make loops and record live who them. I've had this app for a while and it just gets better. Highly recommended for musicians who want some nice sounds and layers to work with that are interesting and new. In my opinion the results are usable in final mixes.

Awful app. How do get money back on this app?

~SLAMMIN STILL~. This was a revolution then and remains a jaw dropper to those I show who never seen! especially drummers and percussionists. It's so nice that the responsiveness is so tight that you can do perfect flams and soft roll fills AND THEY SOUND SWEET. and you can do these and many other drum techniques on a ton of built in sounds and can make nearly any sound you wanna beat on. Recently I've discovered that just tapping on my bed mattress with a drum stick or embarrassingly a couple of no. 5 macramé needles' fat ends! Sounds nutty but sitting there watching Notflix sometimes I just play flam para diddles or make beats finding the bassy part of the mattress and the more snare part so I brought impaktor into this (right into the middle...) and the bouncy mattress just was perfect for great snare rolls and drop stick dddoopdat doodat type 4th bar snare fills and rhythms. Fantastic and like nothing else. This was one of the first music apps I ever bought and I still love it very much. Thank you for bringing it life it is a masterpiece !

Fantastic fun & a great accomplishment!. A truly playable, useful musical instrument! Impaktor will turn your device into that. After a little tweaking to the sensitivity, your device basically becomes a contact mic, allowing you to play on different surfaces as if they were the instrument (and you can cook up some wild stuff with it's onboard tweaks, filters and effects). Powerful, useful and totally playable. A true accomplishment! Don't hesitate on this one!

Essential app for me. I use this app on three iOS devices in my live rig. Using an inexpensive iRig audio interface and a Roland electronic drum pad I can create something like a wave drum at a fraction of the cost. Thanks for making it 64 bit.

This is fantastic. I have to say this is one of the best app ideas I've ever came across. While it definitely benefits from a quiet surrounding, that can be made up with one of those fancy contact pickups. But it's EXTREMELY expressive. Hip hop to jazz to dance to pop, hell, I could probably even do some metal or rock with this thing. It's really really really well thought out. Thank you to the DEV.

Like owning a Korg Wavedrum!. This app is brilliant! It is like owning a Korg Wavedrum for a fraction of the price. Synth engine is very deep! I use an iRig interface to plugin a contact mic (attached to a drum pad) into my iPhone for live performance. This eliminated the crowd noise substantially from triggering the app's synth engine because you bypass the iPhone mic. There are probably even better work arounds for live use. Just a fantastic app!

Brilliant. I'm a long-time synth player and electronic musician. I've got many dozens of carefully chosen music apps. This is easily one of my favorites. Simply brilliant. Great groove machine. Very easy to use, but not at all shallow. Extremely fun in minutes. I cannot easily stop smiling while using it. If you guys never do another thing in your entire lives, I will always consider you to be enormously successful, based on this app alone. But please, don't stop...

Stop reading reviews and buy this app right NOW.. No ...really. Stop reading this. You are wasting valuable time - time that you COULD be using to amaze yourself with how incredibly great this app is. What? You're still here? Still reading instead of banging out some of the best drum/percussion sounds you have ever heard? Why? Stop reading this and just buy the app. I am not kidding. Life is too short to waste reading me telling you how great Impaktor is when you could be tweaking and fine tuning deep, rich, subtle, bright, musical, powerful, funny or intriguing new percussion timbres and whaking out beats as easily as you tap your fingers on a table. Don't read any more. Just buy it. You will NOT be disappointed.

Great Little app. Re-discovering this App. Great for creating organic sounds. PLEASE MAKE THIS AN AUV3 AUDIO FX (too useful not to have this. Ableron link would also be great😀)

Beyond words. Holy moly, the holiest of moly! This app is so well executed, the current sounds are amazing, and its synthesis so there will be more to come, not to mention you can tweak now. Perfect sensitivity right out of the box, was able instantly transform finger taps to true percussion effortlessly. This app is so innovative and perfect i predict it will be in commercials to sell idevices. Definitely buy this one NOW! BeepStreet does it again! Put

Doesnt Work at all. Not sure what’s going on I love beepstreet but this is frustraiting the app doesnt work at all. I dont really understand but the actual sound is staticky and rarely works correctly. I dont usually go for a refund but I’m going to fight on this one.

Awesome, but with a tiny issue!. I have Impaktor for a long time. First bought it on my iphone and had so much fun!!! I was amazed how fast it picked all my taps, and how realistic some synth presets sounded, just like a real drum. Currently I have a little but an issue, on iPad Air 2 there is a lag when using the integrated mic. I don't know if it is because the two mics trying to pick the taps or just they have lag by default. Drumming fast is impossible, because the lag is long enough to confuse me and make mistakes. Strangely using the headset's mic introduces no lag at all, also the same version on my iphone has no lag on either integrated or headset mics. So please BEEP, check what causes the issue, try to use only one of the mics or fix the lag Thanks for this awesome app!

Sensational!. I'm blown away! The sound engine is stunning! And so easy and intuitive. Just... So... Good o_o. You can whack all kinds of things for different tones. And now my constant beatboxing / chest drumming can be with real sounds :). This one's a fave. What it needs is what korg wave drum has, a clip or something for vibration rather than the mic, so you could use it with other sounds in the room. Anyway thanks guys... Stellar app!

My new favorite. Fantastic fun , I've even got it working ok at home without headphones.. (locate away from speakers and facing mic away) But my new discovery is using it with my piezo "foot stomper" pad. (plugged in via irig adapter) which now becomes like an electronic drum-pad! Definitely no headphones needed! The sounds on this app are very good and response is very quick and sensitive.. Love it

Drum loop creator anyone can use. I'm not a drummer but this app makes me believe I could be... well OK maybe not but with just a sense of rythmn you can make your own drum track that can sound great. The built in sounds are great.

Holy Moly. This is more than a drum machine. It's awesome. Very organic grooves. Some nice stuff to see: Old school grid editing Groove quantise Better reverb quality But in spite of that, still a strong 5 stars.

It's cool. It's awesome! Would be even better with external midi sync for live improvisation

Good, as in scary-good.. I'm going with the other 5-star reviews - I'm struggling to find new superlatives to add to the discussion. Especially liked the term 'organic' though - spot-on, kudos to that reviewer. :) The scary-good is not its ability to create yer bog-standard synth-drum faves, but its ability to create ANY percussive sound imaginable (and some you couldn't). Gongs, rattles, shakers, mallet and plucked instruments, all at your fingertips. Create world music and twisted jazz-fusion with impunity! Takes a while to get used to the synth engine (some unfamiliar controls, unexpected behaviours) but nothing that will stop you in your tracks. Great on-board delay/reverb (thank you!), plays nice with Audiobus, Audiocopy, et.al. Odd time signatures? Affirmative. One oddity is that the metronome locks into the chosen tempo, and you cannot speed up/slow down your loop without going out of sync. And for non-drummers, a few more quantize options wouldn't go astray. Still gets 5 stars, though. It's too original (and for me, indispensable) to give it anything less. Bottom line: dream machine.

A great way of generating drum sounds. This is a terrific, "focused" app which does a specific thing very, very well. Impaktor is great for generating a range of sounds. I tend to use it to create overtly "electronic" sounds, though as it has a physical modelling approach it can be used to create "realistic" sounds. I wouldn't use to try and make an exact copy of a physical instrument, but as presets such as "metal drum" and "electric tabla" show, it's great for making instruments that sound like they could be real just that no one's build one yet! Because it responds to external signals through the microphone, its excellent for making expressive drum tracks. I find myself using it to layer on top of drum machine tracks to add dynamism. And now that it plays with other apps through audiobus, it's much easier to use than when I had to save tracks to audio and then import them (not that this was too hard). My only suggestion: is would be nice to be able to configure Impaktor as an effect in audiobus so that you could use a pre-recorded audio track as the input. Impaktor has been around for a while- it's one of the first music apps I ever bought- and it's still a really useful music app that is well worth the money.

iOS 10 no go. Mic input don't work on iOS10 iPhone 5s, so effectively can't use. Realise specs say iOS8 compatible, but a recent review and hopes of using what would be a great app made me risk the dl...

Very good. Works really well, could do with a few tweaks here and there but is great to use. I hope it is successful and we get more updates in the future . Good job

Awesome. Awesome app, have been using iPhone for 3 years now, never have I come across such an intuitive app. It's simple and mind boggling app if you like to compose your own music. You could actually use it in seminars , forums etc especially during ice breaking sessions.make everyone tap and amaze them.

Promising but has a bug on IPad Air 2. Just purchased....latency cannot be changed from 512. The other lower latency settings cannot be selected.

Top marks!. It really is as cool it sounds (or looks if you've seen the video). Super easy to set up complex drum patterns that would have taken ages using other methods. Loads of tweaking can be done and the synth engine also sounds great. This really is an awesome app. Plus it's universal too!

Excellent!. I'm interested to see how this goes on stage at a gig.

Original. Such a unique app. It's a lot of fun, and not only does it give you a bunch of presets that are all really great, but you can sculpt your own sounds, save them, record loops, and do it all with audiobus.

Awesome even for a pro.... It makes noises, it has a random generator and allows me to use my mouth,a song plating through iTunes or tapping the screen or a table to trigger them. These are all ways to make music that traditional synths don't generally focus on, thus allowing your brain to come up with new creative ways to discover that missing sound in your track, add a beat you haven't heard, all in a super portable iPad or iPhone. The one thing I am excited to see is the tilt function implemented for expression that will really make this app so mature ...surely it must be coming as your Gyro synth already has this as a main feature! Impaktor will be on my forthcoming Lemonmilk and A Moth Aglow tracks for sure....I buy apps to be inspired , and I am.

A wonderful creative tool.. Love this app. I have spent hours with upturned bowls, empty boxes, and couple of big wooden spoons, inventing terrific soundscapes. Sadly, Apple says this app will need an update to keep functioning on their upcoming OS updates.. please update.

Money for nothing. Très instable, besoin up-grade :(

This app is just amazing. You won't regret it

Stellar, if not for the flaws.. Impaktor has all the potential to add a new dimension to songwriting, like many of its other app counterparts on portable devices. Stand-alone, it’s fun to use, intuitive, and very quick to get used to. The interface is also sleek and appealing and responsive. Where it falls short is with its Inter-App Support. I have tried opening Impaktor using Audiobus, AUM, MultiTrack Studio, and GarageBand, and it crashes all of them. Now, sometimes I can look the other way, but if a paid product is supposed to have support, it’s a reasonable expectation that it work. I can get around that most times by simply using the app’s onboard WAV export function. It isn’t ideal, but for an app like Impaktor, I could make an exception due to the innovation. But the trouble is that WAV exports crash the app as well, and it takes a lot of finagling - opening, closing, crashing, and crossing fingers - to get a WAV to export. This is less than acceptable. I feel the developer should really look into these issues. For reference, I’m using a 2018 iPad Pro recently updated to iOS 16. If not for these technical flaws, this app would get a perfect five stars.

Awesome. What a great idea! Physically modelled drum and percussion sounds that you trigger with your own playing. Multitrack overdubbing and audio copy paste make it easy to add your grooves to other apps. Love it, worth every penny!

Every drummer needs this app. I've used BeepStreet's Sunrizer synthesizer application for some time now and really love it. When I discovered Impaktor I had to check it out. WOW!!!!!! I've only had the App for about 10 minutes and I'm amazed at how well it works. I've only scratched the surface of its features and I'm incredibly impressed. It really delivers on its ability to turn surfaces into drum pads. It worked great on my desk but what really impressed me was when I lay my iPad 2 across my knees and Impaktor still picked up every note. As a drummer who always taps away at surfaces I find this an incredibly fun and useful Application. I highly recommend it.

Simply awesome. A multitude of interesting drums and found object sounds. Also very responsive, just make noise and this app does the rest. Looking forward to incorporating some of the more interesting sounds into my own recordings. Nice Christmas present, especially at this price.

Un real!. Amazing, truly amazing! Most innovative music app in my iPhone and sounds great too!

Really worth it!. Can't stop playing with this app, so cool!

My fave app. I'm a professional musician. Impaktor is great fun in a quiet space with earbuds, but since it's triggered by the mic it is not going to work in a live music situation. Or so I thought. I've found out that you can hook up any e-drum pad (of any vintage) to your iOS device by using an interface called iRig. I bought that, picked up an old pad from a 90's Yamaha e-drum kit, and bingo! I can now use this app live, and with its recording function get a bunch of loops going at once and then jam along with them. Fabulous!

Fun but Sensitive. Impaktor is a hoot to play, quite flexible, so easy to figure out, and very expressive. But the contact mic is very sensitive, and causes random noises even at low sensitivity settings.

It's okay, but not worth???. The app is under 4MB. The idea is cool and the app is novel, but the quality in my opinion is not worth. 5$. I am more than certain that ALL the 5-Star reviews were all paid for by the developer to promote his app. 5 Stars is a few too many for this app.

Great app. Can you make the audio output via Bluetooth. Keep up the good work, thanks!

Excellent. Amazing fusion of technology / mobility / synthesis. This app is a must have. In the future I hope to see the ability to tweak a sound / pad after recording. Automation would be cool as well. But still, this app is so cool.

Very nice, I like. How much?. If this app had velocity or volume sensitive capabilities and/or midi to trigger notes while playing rhythm, this would be the number 1 music app on the planet.

What the Korg Wave Drum wished it could be!. This App is BRILLIANT! Simple but sophisticated. Easy to program but incredibly deep. I sold my Wave Drum after about a month after buying because it was ridiculous to even consider programming with 3 LCD characters. I don't want to knock it too much but Korg really missed the boat with no USB and editing software. Fine if all you want is presets. Of all the music Apps I've got (and I've got tons), this is by far the most musical and fun. I look forward to updated with bated breath! Keep up the innovation. And thanks.

Wow unbelievable in everyway. This was one of the first apps that I considered truely useable from a musicians stand point. Stable and well written and just fun to use here and there. Thanks guys.

Incredible little app. Amazing app that is an incredibly easy way for drummers and non-drummers alike to create beats to be used in recordings or live performance. Audiobus and another app like Loopy HD makes this incredible as a live performance tool.

Blown away. This app sounds amazing and I was very impressed with the huge amount of sounds that you have access to. Now all we need is a version updated for the iPhone five screen.

Insanely fun!. Can't put it down! (Unlike most recording apps, this looping feature makes you sound much better than you are. That's a good thing, right?)

Can't beat it. create cool bells, hand drums and plucked-string instruments that sound realistic and imaginary at the same time. finally an instrument app that's not pretending it was born in the '70s or '80s. THANKS!!!

Luv it. Ffffffff kn amazing !!! Both my son and I are bustn out beats for our compositions . Also great for nee slapping a Rhythm before you do piano practice.

Horrible. This app is useless. I am using an iPad Air 2. All I get are repeats and repeats. Triggers when nothing is happening. Multiple triggers instead of clean sound. This is the worst music app I've ever used. Adjusting Mic sensitivity does nothing. Sounds like crud

Very fun and inspiring. I've had this app a while and I never thought to write a review for it til now. As a multi-instrumentalist it's not one I use every day, but when I want to add some really cool organic sounding rhythms or rhythmic techno orchestrations to a song, this fits the bill amazingly well, The app really makes your ipad an expressive rhythm instrument, or more accurately it make everything in your room an instrument. Very original and a great app

Top tier app!. Without a doubt a truly innovative app. What do you expect though from the folks who made gyrosynth. Audiobus would be great I hope that becomes a reality.

Wayyyyy too much lag on iPad Air 2. lag seems to be gone, but now the issue is that impaktor "hears" itself, so you cant use looping! if you use external mic connected, the headphone audio signal is routed back into impaktor, so kick drums will trigger hats, etc... even with no playing. synth engine is cool, but looper is worthless.. :::: old review :::: Per another review I read, I agree that something seems broken with this app now. I've tried iPad's internal Mic, and external mic, even connecting to a real drum trigger (which is just a piezo mic in a housing basically) and they all are worthless. Lag is at least I the .1's of a second... Cool sounds, but pointless now due to lag.

Latency on iPad Air 2 iOS 8.4. This app shows lots of potential and works fairly well on my iPhone. On the iPad Air 2 the latency makes it unusable. There must be some kind of new bug. Fun but this issue puts a damper on things. Still not fixed under iOS 8.4. Shame on Apple for breaking this developer's app on the iPad Air 2 built in mic.

LOVE. THIS. APP.. This app was worth every penny. I’ve only explored it a little but it works SO freaking well. Highly recommended. Do not hesitate.

Amazing!. The sounds put out by this app are amazing and the way you play it just lets you be that much more creative. Definitely worth the five bucks.

iOS Wavedrum!. This app rocks! If you've ever wanted a Wavedrum buy this app. It's not exactly the same of course, but great fun and much cheaper. :D

Truly inspiring. Just get it. Audiobus support would be an obvious next step, Por favor.

Great app. Headphones a necessity.. Love this app. Will turn your meaningless tappings into something awesome. I only wish the volume was much louder as I don't carry headphones with me. Without headphones, it's pretty worthless as you won't hear anything.

Brilliant synth idea!. I got this app thinking it was a normal drum synth. I had no idea about sampling with the mic. This is by far the most interesting and engaging drum synth app I used. Sad to see this project stagnate and not get updates for a long time. Nonetheless, my five stars go to a great idea and neat implementation.

cool. Very cool, worth the 5 bucks, keep updating and such!

Fantastic. Just Fantastic, No words to describe it. Just Buy it. Thanks BeepStreet. I was waiting for this for a long time.

Make new drum one hits! THIS APP ROCKS. This app is awesome. Now it has a random button , can't beat that ! Tons of new sound! Worth every penny

Needs some TLC. Great percussion app, but needs MIDI implementation. Unfortunately this is unlikely to happen as it would appear to have been abandoned by the developer.....shame

Really cool - but, multitrack export plz?. Love this app. Great fun synthesizing drums and making beat sketches on the go. Only thing missing is a multi track export (wav files for each channel). Let me be able to use this stuff better in my big studio setup!

Works Great. Needs a couple of things….. This works better than I expected, and has excellent sounds. I would love to use it for live performance, BUT it needs a couple of features for that. - MIDI clock out (and in if possible) so users can sync the loop tempo with other hardware - background audio support (so users can switch to other apps for stuff while the audio keeps going) Highly recommended, though.

Be prepared. This is a great app, but be prepared to not have an idea how to work it lol... I think your skills need to be higher than the average person!! But I still recommend it:))

Absolutely phenomenal. My only regret is having spent a single dime on any other percussion app before finding this. WORLDS just opened for my music making!!!!!!

Wow! Just plain WOW!. I'm blown away. This is tremendous! Very flexible and very unique, with cool modeling. Great job creating this! Jordan Rudess Wizdom Music

YA, it's kinda cool....... Tap the table or surface round you and hear the beat. Works pretty well. SOme of the drum sounds are a bit different. Fun to use, hope to use it in a recording soon.

Closest to real. I play percussion and this is by far the closest I have come to an analog drumming experience. And immensely satisfying.

Very cool..... Awesome! I hope more drums are on the way (studio kits + more ethnic!).

Pure magic.. I love this thing. Hands down the best app on this store. Thank you!!!!

Another Step Forward. iPad as a serious alternative platform instrument took yet another HUGE step forward with Impaktor. Crazy & awesome with possibilities. BeepStreet is rocking it!

Writer's block killer!. File this under secret weapon app. Unique results always. Buy.

I don't use it much. But it's pure awesome for an app!!!

One of the best apps I ever boght. I'm really into musical apps, and this one is the most unique app for iDevices ever. Synth is awesome for jamming by yourself and for studio. Too bad it won't work for stage

Amazing. This app is a beast. I am a drummer and i found out that you could connect an electronic pad via irig and play without having sound interference. The options for shaping your sounds are immensely vast!!!!!

Fun!. Really easy to get an idea going and add to it. Awesome idea!

Awesome app. I was worried about latency before I bought this - there is none. I was also concerned that I would have to be overly careful about where to place the phone while I'm tapping - I don't. This app brings the human feel to the world of iOS percussion instruments, a world teeming with apps that lack velocity control and variable accent control. The sounds it comes with are great but it has enough flexibility for you to make your own. I'm incredibly unique instrument for five bucks - it's a steal. For the people that aren't giving it five stars because they can't use it on stage or find a way to work with its limitations... people just don't use their brain and find ways to work around obstacles. Even the most prestigious studios in the world have limitations. It uses a live sound source as an impulse generator, it's got to be quiet. Duh. If you're having retrigger problems you're probably putting the phone on a surface that is too resonant. If you want to use it on stage get a korg wavedrum. This is exactly what I was looking for to create some ambient tribal experimental electronica and I already know how I'm going to do it. Jam out on the table, hit record, trim and loop in AudioShare or cubasis or BM2 and then find the tempo. If I like the sounds and I want to use them on stage I'll sample them and set velocity layers. Problem solved. It's not that hard people you need to try harder. If it doesn't work on your iPad do it on your iPhone. Problem solved. It's five bucks and it doesn't crash. Five stars.

Man what an addictive app!. I have spent many hours creating patches on this app, and I love the possibilities this app brings. Audiobus is there to take your playing to other apps. This app os simple and brilliant!

Awesome App. Wow when I saw this app on BeepStreet's website I had no idea it would be this cool or usable. I have a Korg Wavedrum and this this is just as cool (for a different purpose). I even had fun sitting it next to my Wavedrum while drumming to get some cool doubled percussion recorded. A Winner!

Just nuts - you have no idea how cool. Come on and buy this- its the same situation as certain other developers (A. Zolotov comes to mind): just buy this and everything else the guy makes...

Amazing. This app is incredible. Would be nice if it had AAC/email export/sound cloud or Box integration. Also if you can't currently create your own sounds that would be An great addition. input gain and threshold would be cool, especially for live situations. Thank you for making such an expressive app!

Friggin awesome!. Completely addictive and surprisingly useful in real world music making!

A no brainer. Ok, anyone interested in drumming, wavedrums, handsonic, experimental music, and anyone who digs beating on a desk needs to get this ASAP. Great app, great developer! Bravo!

Great app!!!!. I initially thought the developer faked all the good reviews but this is the real deal. Best music app I have out of like 80 apps. Fun as hell. Perfect for adding a real feel and groove to typically cold sounding electronic beats

Great app but,. The app is stunning but, it could use optional ways of sharing your recorded tracks. May I suggest: Soundcloud, via email, wifi for sharing recorded tracks. Itunes only is not practical from a musician's perspective.
