Handy tool. I think this app is incredibly useful but you need to have a clear understanding of its implications and intended uses before you buy. The dice inlcudes pictograms that are designed to be easily identified without the need for reading tasks. I think this app is a great tool for teachers, parents, or therapists to use when guiding students in creative narritive activities. The app on its own may be confusing to students. Simple and easy to use! --

Wonderful. They do exactly what they say and they do a great job. My kids and I Love to use these and tell stories to each other.

Great app for speech/language therapy!. This app has great potential to work on a wide range of speech/language skills including sequencing, narratives, complex sentence forms and word retrieval. It could also be used to work on articulation carryover at a conversation level.

Use in Creative Writing Class. I use this once or twice a semester as a story or poem starter for students. Each student gets a different set of dice. It's easy to use and gives students one tool to tackle writers' block.

Roll and write. This app is great, I love it. Helps if you can't get your thoughts off the ground.

Great app for plot, character and setting ideas. This is really great app for people with a lot of imagination and creativities that will work great in a single or multi played settings. User who doesn't have many imagination and not familiar with what these app suppose to do might find it hard,boring or confusing.

Great for creativity. Great story dice app! There are a lot of different pictures which makes for a lot of different stories to be told! I love that you can choose how many dice you want (1-10) so I can adjust it based on how many players we have, how long we want the story to be, and the ages of the players. The tip sheet has many many great ideas on how to use the dice!

Excellent Fun for the Classroom. What an innovative way to integrate technology and creativity into speaking, listening, and writing activities. Superb!. The psychologist at school recommended my son use story dice to improve expressive communication. She had a package of dice. But, I decided to download this app instead. It has a much larger variety of pictures than just a few dice on hand. I love to make up silly stories with my children using Story Dice! Thanks for helping us get creative:)

Just... Why?. This app is a rip off! You tap the screen and the picture changes and that's it. No option to start writing, no description, why does this even exist? Waste of 3 bucks. DONT BUY IT!!!

Great story starter. As an OT, I use this to help my students write original sentences to work on visual memory for letter forms and the mechanics of good handwriting without copying. It's a favorite app for my 4-8th grade students

Helps with writer's block. I'm doing a 30 stories in 30 days challenge to help break through some writer's block. This works just as advertised and has helped immensely with idea generation.

perfect for my 1st grader!!. I started using this the summer between kinder & 1st grade. he LOVES it. first we started just telling the story, by mid-summer he was writing his stories. it has really helped him by expanding his thinking and writing more than 1 sentence during 'free choice' writing at school.

Wonderful & fun creativity tool. This is one of the all-time great not-sure-what-to-do-with-it-but-glad-it-exists apps. I bought it because I'm a writer and a sucker for any kind of writing tools, but as a writer of non-fiction I haven't had occasion to use it; I didn't think I'd have a strict "business need" for it. It has nevertheless been a terrific tool. To me, one of the challenges of writing is confronting the ease of pretending to write: sitting at the computer answering email, playing games, tidying up the desk, etc. Playing around with the Story Dice is perfect. I'll pick one, or pick several, or make up a piece of a story and challenge myself to complete with additional dice. It's a great break "from writing" while challenging and engaging me creatively. I typically leave these short sessions feeling mentally limber and ready for my "actual" task.

Impressive Tool for Expressive Language. This is a great application; however, I do not believe it is suitable for children beginning at 3+ without additional instruction. I believe that age would need a lot verbal instruction & prompting to use this application & it might be a little frustrating. For older kiddos, say 5+, this would be a great application to use for the multiple game ideas suggested! I am glad it is another tool I can use for the kiddos trying to expand utterances.

Great app for child to adult. I really enjoyed this app. It offers many story plots with the dice. I really liked that you can change the option of how many dice you can use from one dice to ten. This app can be used in many settings from preschool to highschool depending on how you wish to use this app.

A litte suggestion. Great job in keeping with the original game. I would like to say though it is not the best set up. You get a new hand every time you touch the screen. It need to have a roll button separately. Then when you touch the dice they need to go to the top of the screen to show they have been used.

Ok but limited.. It has potential but is just like many other creative writing tools in iOS, it lacks customization and what you get is just a toy. It would be nice if I could change the graphics in the dice by adding photos or words. The only important setting it has, is to control the number of dices it rolls. As it is now, is too generic and simple for writers.

Change. The app is ok, I would like to be able to Shuffle the rolled set like word with friends, or manipulate the set with your finger

Waste of money. This app is a total waste of money. I think it should be free. 99 cents for a app like this is a waste. I wish I did not buy this app. I could have bought something so much better!

Pretty good. I like this app because it's a clever way to get your brain juices flowing, but I agree with some other reviewers about the fact that it's not very good if you're trying to write a story. A lengthy story, anyway. For short-one-page-long-stories, this app can be lots of fun. This app is great, though, to play with your friends and play games with.

Story Building ideas. This app is great to use as a tool to get the creative juices running. My homeschool girls love making stories up with this app!

Love it!. I have the Rory's Story Cubes but always misplace them. This app is definitely worth the price. Haven't clicked through to see all the pictures yet, so not sure about the amount of pictures it has yet. One suggestion for fixing would be to allow outside music to be played while using this app. I write with music and usually switch to the app when I get stuck, I don't like having my music stop right when I get going, as it takes away precious seconds...especially when I do word sprints to write. I'd like to play music and have this app opened constantly for that reason. Advice for people complaining it's limited: take one dice at a time. Try to use your imagination for the picture on the dice, yes, but also to the events surrounding the die; leading up to it, surroundings, smells, characters. Add depth to it. I've written over 25,000 words in just using 5 dice. You just gotta be creative in your thinking patterns! Otherwise great app! Love it! Highly recommended!

Roll the Dice. This app works well in my digital media class when needing story ideas. The shake doesn't work that well for us but just touching the screen works just as great.

Great idea!. Love this app! My girls roll the dice each morning in the car, and we all tell a story on the way to school. Great for developing creative imaginations.

Great app. I was given the "hard copy" of this and loved it. When I saw that e dice were available for my ipad I bought it. The app is great - my son likes me to make up a story for him every night before sleep. After four months of this, I was really starting to find ideas a little difficult but a quick tap on the app and I'm away. Liked the idea of stimulating childrens' imagination too - I know my kids will enjoy it.

Disappointed. While the dice are great, I feel like there is misleading information about this app. I felt like the descriptions led me to believe I could write the story or do journal entries right in the app as the dice come up. I really didn't want to carry a notebook along!

Excellent collaborative imaginative fun. Unlike most apps, Storydice is an app that requires you use your imagination. I love using this with my kids for collaborative storytelling and iPad sharing fun.
